The makers of Parey Hut Love took inspiration from the film Four Weddings and a Funeral, therefore this film does cover four weddings and a funeral. I haven’t watched the original British version of this film therefore I can’t draw any comparisons but I must say that after watching all three ‘big’ films this Eid, I am pretty sure that the one thing our filmmakers seriously compromise on is the script which is truly unfortunate. Parey Hut Love’s cinematography, locations and sets do not disappoint at all. It is also refreshing watching some new faces on the big screen. Maya Ali has given a really solid performance in the film, her dialogue delivery and overall look is right on point. Sheheryar Munawar’s portrayal of a disturbed, vulnerable, angry, confused young man is at times shaky. The screenplay and the dialogues are the weakest link in this film. Hina Dilpazeer seriously disappoints especially in the serious scenes. Fawad Khan’s cameo came as a surprise and it was actually sad watching Fawad Khan on the big screen after such a long time in a Pakistani movie but for such a short span of time – only few minutes!

First Impression and The Final One
Parey Hut Love starts with a bang, you really feel that you are in for a great ride since the film has a visually stunning opening scene. Parisheh James also made a really cute first impression and Frieha Altaf played her role well. The director Asim Raza truly went out of his way to bring the desi big fat wedding to life on the big screen. Even the love at first sight scenario went well with the opening theme of the film. However, as the story progressed, I realized that this was yet another story of a struggling artist trying to make it big in the drama/film industry. So basically the main protagonist of the film turns out to be a lot like the ‘superstars’ in the film Superstar. As the film progresses, Sheheryar’s (Sheheryar Munawwar) anger and commitment issues are explored but the writer completely failed to do justice to them. In the beginning it seemed like this film would do justice to the ‘romantic’ element of the film but sadly that was not the case!
Sheheryar and Saniya (Maya Ali) looked good together even though they got too close too quickly but Sheheryar Munawar’s performance especially in the scenes showing his character’s anger was truly disappointing. Dialogues like ‘You are hurting me, you are hurting me too’ had done-to-death written all over them! The leading characters cry a lot in the film and the lack of communication between them is laughable! Parey Hut Love’s half-baked script coupled with supporting characters which are supposed to serve a bigger purpose but end up leaving absolutely no impact makes this yet another Pakistani film which is visually stunning but fails to make an emotional connection with the audience. Even someone as talented as Ahmed Ali Butt is wasted in a role which doesn’t exploit his talent to the maximum. Zara Noor Abbas fails to make an impact and ends up trying a little too hard. The most funny part was when Sheheryar thanked his half-dad for everything! Sheheryar winning his love in the end was not the least bit rewarding because he was confused right till the end until Zeena (Mahira Khan) made up his mind for him! Like many other Pakistani films, this one tries to achieve too much and ends up achieving very little.
Overall Impression
Parey Hut Love is a colorful film which is a visual delight but Sheheryar Munawar’s performance in particular leaves a lot to be desired. The script has no flow, we go from one wedding and one season to the other. There is no denying the fact that Nadeem Baig is a legend but why cast him in similar roles in two different films releasing on the same date? Parey Hut Love’s overall script is a lot like that of Superstar therefore if you have seen one, you will end up comparing the two. Maya Ali looks really good on the big screen and her performance leaves a lasting impression even though her character disappears in between. Some of the most serious scenarios are just plain ridiculous, which is unfortunate. The songs, the choreography and the cinematography make this film bearable. Mahira Khan’s guest appearance isn’t just restricted to a dance number and the film begins and ends with thanking Mahira Khan!! Mahira Khan’s role is short but crucial to the plot which also seems forced and makes the hero’s character even more weak. Parey Hut Love could have been a nice simple love story but by trying to add more ‘meaning’ to the film, the makers actually killed the romantic and the comic element of the film.
Indian media is known to spice each and every news to such a degree that it becomes bad for health. The same had happened about 2 months back with the renowned Bollywood actor, Paresh Rawal when he appreciated Pakistani projects and showed his desire to work in Pakistan. The Indian media had added so much masala to this news and made such a big deal out of it that the poor guy had to retract his statement in the end, blaming the Indian media for misquoting him.
But guess what? Mr.Paresh is back at it again with even more praises for the talent in our country!
While giving an interview to an Indian publication, Rawal blamed his nation’s media for bashing him for his views about Pakistani stars and dramas.
They (Indian Media) jumped at me as well. I was slammed as well. Anyway, this is something I said in 2014 as well that I like their shows.
It’s good to see his consistent stand with Pakistani Entertainment Industry. And who can blame him? Indian shows are just tiring to watch, given how long they last.

The celebrated Bollywood actor has finally spoken up on his statement that went viral yesterday when he called Indian TV dramas “boring” and implied by expression of his desire to work in Pakistani TV – only to say that he has been misquoted by the media and his followers.
Paresh gave a statement to the Bombay Times who printed it as a quote, stating that he’s said :
“I never said I want to work in Pakistani films, neither it is my wish. I want to categorically state this. I have been misquoted.”
He went on to justify his statement by stating that he did like Pakistan’s popular TV drama serial Humsafar (starring Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan) but he never meant that the Indian TV drama serials are boring;only a little slow,
It does seem like an odd stance though of course we can never be really sure what were the motives behind it. Do you really think it was the media that misinterpreted Rawal’s statement or is it him turning cold feet and merely making an attempt to save his image in the Indian entertainment industry, which generally at large couldn’t have been to happy after yesterday’s news? Some of the Pakistani dramas nowadays have parents who are the perfect example of bad parenting. These parents can easily be termed as parents from hell since they are the ones responsible for bringing up children who are monstrous humans. The writers most often use these parents as a ‘shield’ for children who are badly raised and at other times they are simply there to show where the parents are going wrong. Some of these characters have been used intelligently by the writers to highlight certain parenting issues and societal pressures. Others are just plain negative individuals who play the role of enablers till the last episode!
When showing such scenarios, our writers also follow certain patterns. For example, a bad parent is always the dominant one. Whether it is the mother or the father who is making all the wrong choices, the other one is shown completely helpless! This is what enables the dominant and bad parents to take over and take control. This also goes to show just how important it is for both parents to have an equal say. And then nowadays, there is a trend that both the parents are equally selfish and manipulative.

Usman’s Parents (Mujhe Vida Kar)
Sultana and her husband are a match made in hell! Their sole purpose in life is to control their sons, make their life as miserable as possible, judge their daughters-in-law constantly, and spoil their daughter! These parents are biased, insensitive and the most selfish ones. For the first time perhaps the husband is just as much of a planner as the wife! Usually, the fathers are shown as balanced individuals but that is definitely not the case here. Unlike some of the other parents on this list, this pair does not even try to hide their ill feelings for their sons and their wives. They live in the moment and do not think much about how their actions might affect their relationship with their sons in the future. They also have shocking double standards when it comes to their children.
When Usman came back and narrated all those terrible things that happened to him, his parents could not care less! All they were worried about was that he will no longer be assisting them financially. Life is a constant party for them; all they do is eat, plot and plan! Needless to say, they are always on the same page which makes them the perfect partners in crime.
Ahsan’s Mother (Pardes)
Ahsan’s mother in Pardes is the perfect example of all those single mothers out there who think that the sons who are responsible enough to take up financial responsibility for their family are not humans but ATM machines! Like the parents in Mujhe Vida Kar, she looks out for her daughter and couldn’t care less about Ahsan or his wife! She sent her son away so that he could earn for his family and since then has not cared for anything else except for the money he sends home. Her concern for Ahsan is only verbal because not once has she actually worried about how he must be coping away from home. This mother takes selfishness to a whole new level especially because she also keeps on lying to Ahsan about how she is looking after his wife and daughter.
I see a little bit of the mother from Qaid-e-Tanhai in her since she was also as manipulative and selfish as this one. Also, in the end, she will surely learn her lesson the hard way! Although she is a mother from hell for sure the character itself is an accurate representation of all such parents.
Aman’s Mother (Neeli Zinda Hei)
Although Neeli Zinda Hei has only been air for a few weeks, Aman’s mother is already eligible to be on this list. She is the most typical zalim saas we often get to see in Pakistani dramas but when it comes to controlling her son, she definitely takes a lead! She believes every conspiracy theory thrown her way when it comes to her bahu and is an expert at coming up with quite a few herself too. Her need to control was highlighted right from the first episode. She could not stand the fact that Aman was being so understanding of his wife’s situation. The funny thing is that she has no respect for her husband and is so kam chor that she has a difficult time making breakfast for herself! Thankfully in this drama, both the parents are not the same therefore we see the father trying to knock some sense into this woman.
However, like many other such scenarios, the evil, negative mother definitely has a more dominant personality therefore, there isn’t much which the father can do about the situation.
Faiz Ullah (Pehli Si Mohabbat)
Pehli Si Mohabbat has been breaking stereotypes and has so much going for it. Faiz Ullah however, definitely passes as a parent from hell since he is so self-absorbed that he cannot see how his decisions are impacting his daughter. He represents all those parents who think that their children owe them their lives, their happiness because they raised them and ‘loved’ them for all these years! His expectations from Rakhshi and his behavior towards her have made him an example of bad parenting. Also, he married Nargis out of love and turned the entire mohalla against him yet he does not understand why Rakhshi would want to get married to someone she loves. In the beginning, Faiz Ullah’s character was quite balanced but his selfishness was always a prominent part of his personality.
He never took Rakhshi into confidence before getting married to Nargis or bringing her home. He expected her to ‘adjust’ to these changes without giving any prior warning. Ever since then he has been making every single drastic decision on his own. Nargis’ continuous reality checks always fall on deaf ears and his explanations just go to show that he feels his actions are justified.
Zahida and Tahir (Mohlat)
Drama serial Mohlat has more than its fair share of twisted characters! The parents in this drama are just as twisted as the youngsters. Zahida is a woman who hates her third daughter because she blames her for ruining her marriage and her life. Her husband Zahid wanted a son therefore while two of her older daughters are not to be blamed, Navera, the youngest one, got rejection and hatred right from the time she was born. Zahida has always been unfair to Navera and even now when she is being so responsible and supportive of her sister, she gets no acknowledgment from her mother. Also, Zahida is responsible for making a monster out of Maham. For the longest time, she played the role of an enabler in her life and now it is too late!
The father Tahir has been absent from his children’s and first wife’s life for the most part. Now, out of nowhere, his character has taken a complete u-turn! Even with this turn, his personality is such that he has been unable to make a positive influence on any of his family members. He can easily be termed as the most useless parent we have seen in Pakistani dramas lately! Even though he really wanted to father a son, which is why he got married to Sadaf but he did not play any role in raising this son.
Sadaf (Mohlat)
We have seen mothers such as Sadaf many times in our dramas. She justifies every single thing her son does and as a result, her son is a spoiled brat who really does believe that he can get away with anything at all. Tahir married Sadaf so that she could give him a son and after doing so, she has made sure that this son gets everything he wishes for even when it is not justified. Recently, when Navera came to apologize, her attitude and response showed what a bad role model she is for this youngster.
Shiza’s Father (Azmaish)
Shiza and Samreen’s father in Azmaish is also an enabler just like many other parents on this list. He has turned his second wife into his grown-up daughters’ babysitter. They are not expected to respect her and he is constantly reminding her of how fortunate she is to have him since he has taken care of her daughter as his own. His thankless nature shows in his daughters’ attitude and he is so foolish that he falls for every single lie told to him. Although he thinks that he is doing everything right and raising his daughters the way they should be raised, he is actually doing more harm than good!
Rakhshanda (Aulaad)
While on the one hand, Aulaad has the best parents playing the lead in the drama, we are also got to see a mother such as Rakhshanda in the drama. She is one of those typical clever female characters who constantly plot and plan. She made sure that her daughter did everything the way she deemed fit and did not let her make her own decisions. She never had a single piece of good advice to give to her daughter and was always so sure that she knew best! In the end, the viewers will get to see a befitting ending to this character but she is definitely a mother who destroyed her daughter’s life single-handedly.
Nawaz (Dunk)
Haider’s father in Dunk has to be the most gullible and confused father figure in Pakistani dramas right now. This man believes every single thing against his son and is perhaps his biggest enemy. He is constantly looking for an excuse to put his son down. Not only this, he also asked his wife to follow his lead! Shahood Alvi seems to be typecast in a rather unlikeable and uninteresting role in more than one drama. His talent is being wasted, playing such a ‘dumb’ character. Laila Wasti seems to be doing the same in both Mohlat and Azmaish but her characters have some likable aspects therefore she did not make it to the list!
Nazo’s Mother (Safar Tamam Hua)
Nazo’s mother in Safar Tamam Hua is a careless and selfish parent who has never once thought about her daughter. She has never even given sane advice to her daughter let alone do something practically positive for her. Nazo is a young woman who is capable of being a better person but she never found the kind of role model in her mother to make her a responsible adult. On the other hand, her mother has played a major role in making her take the worst decisions more than once.

Sarmad Sultan Khoosat is a Pakistani actor, film/TV director, producer and screenwriter best known for directing the TV dramas Humsafar and Shehr-e-Zaat, Paani Jesa Piyar, Manto and Noor-ul-ain. Parchi is releasing on 5th January 2018, being the first release of Pakistani cinema for 2018. The cast includes Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan and Usman Mukhtar among others. Every Pakistani is familiar with ‘Parchi’. Either you have become a victim of it or has used it for your own good but surely you have come across it in your life time. We have a lot of Parchis running from government to clerkship and even showbiz. Sometimes Parchi proves to be a break in chance, a help, and the other times the whole career is based on it turning a meager Parchi into a Parcha. In showbiz we have many people who got chances with Parchis and polished their kills to become stars. And we have many who used their Parchis only to survive in the industry and keep getting low-grade projects despite not improving themselves. Here is a list of artists who have got big breaks and then went on to become stars because of their talents and some who sustained in the industry due to the help they got:
Momal Sheikh:
She is the daughter of veteran actor Javed Sheikh. Momal has been around for many years now but there is no single project of hers which became memorable. She also went to Bollywood and made her debut with Happy Bhaag Jaayegi with you guessed it right; her father’s help. She is a big example of Parchi gone wrong.
Here comes another Sheikh. He is the son of Javed Sheikh and brother of Momal Sheikh. He also entered the industry under his father’s umbrella and struggled for many years due to his plastic acting. He has now improved a lot and have given good projects like Choti Si Zindagi and Alif Allah aur Insaan which is on-air right now. But his Parchi did help him to survive for so long.
Shahroze Sabzwari:
He is the son of veteran actor Behroze Sabzwari and nephew of Javed Sheikh. Shahroze is also married to Syra Yousaf and couple remains in the news for being ‘cute’. Shahroze is also working in the industry for a long time now and will make his film debut soon too. But did he ever impress the audience? No! Does he still get projects? Yes! I think the Parchi is quite obvious here.
Ins E Yazdan:
The picture is quite self-explanatory. Ins E Yazdan is the brother of Hocane sisters. And when you are the brother of Hocane sisters; you get to debut in a project like Udaari. Whoever has watched Udaari knows the level of Parchi this one was when he used to call ZEAABOO in his dead voice. And he had NO expressions when Zebo’s mother gets arrested. But despite of all lacks; sister dear got him debut in a big project.
Danyal Zafar:
He is becoming a sensation these days. He will make his debut in Coke Studio too and his debut has been hyped extremely. Not just that Danyal will perform in two songs in Coke Studio. But what has he done to get two songs and this much hype with his debut and all. You got it right! He was born as the younger brother of Ali Zafar. Ahemmm! Quite a good eligibility.
Zaw Ali:
While talking about Coke Studio we have another artist who is debuting this year. Zaw Ali is the daughter of legendary Sajjad Ali. Yes I do hope she turns out to be as melodious as Sajjad himself but getting such a big opportunity in the start of your career is not as easy as it was for Zaw. Many voices just stay as background singers for years before they get their debuts.
Anzala Abbasi:
Anzala Abbasi is the daughter of actors Shamoon Abbasi and Javeria Abbasi. She comes from a family of stars as the they are related with the showbiz for two generations now. Anzala made her acting debut with a soap Gila on HUM TV. Her mother insisted on Anzala for joining the acting field and Jeveria told this on Faysal Qureshi’s show herself.
Sadia Faisal:
Sadia Faisal is the daughter of talented actress Saba Faisal. Sadia is in industry for quite some time too but has failed to leave a mark and impress the audience. But she still gets a lot of projects and supporting roles and is seen on screens in different dramas.
Meesha Shafi:
This is a case of good use of opportunity. Meesha is a talent house herself. She is the daughter of Saba Hameed. She debuted as a model in Jawad Ahmed’s music video “Bin Tere Kya Hai Jeena”. She also acted on small screen and in films with her negative role in Waar getting her a lot of critical acclaim. Meesha has not used Parchi in advancing her career but it cannot be ignored that she got a good break at a meager age of 17. Her brother Faris Shafi could not make big in the industry. Thus Meesha is a person who advanced on the basis of her own talent and didn’t need her Parchi throughout like some people mentioned above.
Ahad Raza Mir is a newcomer in the industry. He has appeared on our television screens in two successful projects. One being Sammi and the other Yaqeen Ka Safar which is on-air right now. He will be seen in the movie Parwaaz Hai Junoon too which is based on Air Force.He is the son of renowned actor and producer Asif Raza Mir. He has garnered all big projects upon his debut. Though he seems a promising actor, the support he got is obviously visible.
Shaan Shahid:
Another example where support proved in giving the industry a talented actor. A little help leading a talent to success one could say for him. Shaan is the son of veteran actress Neelo and writer and film maker Riaz Shahid. Shaan didn’t take acting seriously in the beginning but later joined family business of his father Riaz Shahid Films at that time and his acting debut was Bulandi which was a huge film at that time with names such as Nadeem, Samina Peerzada attached to the cast. Though the success he got later and the way he got position of a superstar in Pakistan is due to his own talent and hardwork.

Parchi is an action packed film that is being promoted near and far ahead of its release. It’s trailers have also served well to pique up interest in audience. The movie stars Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman and Usman Mukhtar, all very busy in promotions that are held across the country.
Parchi will also be the first Pakistani Film to release in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia after its crown prince lifted the ban off cinemas after some 35 years. It will make an appearance on the screens nationwide on the 19th of December there.
Since the new government has started working, our ministry of information and broadcasting is one which is running very efficiently. The minister Mr Fawad Chaudhary is always answering media’s queries and promotes anything government starts. Recently, Prime Minister Of Pakistan made his first official visit to Saudi Arabia and it was a successful visit. Many projects have been signed between both the countries. Both the countries have also pledged to share more and more cultural media. In light of this, the minister for Information tweeted that Parwaaz Hai Junoon will be the first Pakistani film to be commercially released in KSA.
After the ban on cinemas was lifted, Parchi was the first film that released in Saudi Arabia. To rectify this misinformation, the lead actress and producer of the film Parchi tweeted to the honourable minister that Parchi was indeed the first film to release in KSA though she appreciates the way Pakistani cinema is progressing. The Janaan team is coming back with a brand new movie called Parchi. The cast includes Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman Khan, Usman Mukhtar, Shafqat Khan and Ahmed Ali Akbar. The teaser released today and seems like it is based on the subject of extortion with a touch of humour ofcourse. February seems a happening month in the drama industry of Pakistan where new projects are emerging on the screen, offering the viewers a variety to see this year. Adding a new name in the list, Seema Ghazal’s Parchaiyaan will go on air tomorrow, that is, 12th February, 2013 at 8 pm on ARY Digital.
This Melo-romantic serial has already created a good audience through its promos and viewers seem enthusiastic about the show. Been directed by Shakeellie Khan, the drama enjoys a valuable cast including great actors like Waseem Abbas, Rubina Ashraf, Aijazz Aslam, Sana Khan and many more. ARY is trying its best to over pass the viewership been created by HUM TV and for that the efforts are visible. Team of Paray Hat love didn’t show up in Aplus’s morning showThe paray hat love team refuses to come on Aplus morning show at the very last moment.
Farah Sadia, the anchor of the show seemed angry and sad over them refusing at the very last momemt. The paray hat love team didn’t even bother to inform the management of the team on which Farah had to randomly call guests and invite to safeguard her show time. It was really an unprofessional behavior of the actors that we didn’t expect from them because this is regarded as being un professional and embarrassing. We urge to the team to soon plan to visit the Aplus morning show ik nae subha to control the damage.

Paras Masroor is a versatile Pakistani theatre and television actor. He began his career through theatre and later transitioned to television. His first notable appearance was as Tora Khan in Hum TV’s hit serial Sang-e-Mar Mar. His other notable television projects include Mere Damad, Aangan, Mayi Ri, Gul o Gulzaar, Yeh Dil Mera, Pehli Si Mohabbat, and Sauda. Paras is the son of Beena Masroor, a veteran PTV actor. Last night, Paras Masroor’s mother, former Pakistani television actress and educationist Beena Masroor, passed away at the age of 67. Beena was also a highly educated woman who was graduated from university of Sindh. Talking about the Criteria of hero in Pakistan’s entertainment industry He said ” I know I don’t fit in that criteria which have been made in the Industry For Heros because there is a weird criterion for example “A Guy Who has fair complexion”, ” Or somebody who comes in a nice big car” or “Someone who has certain Protocol” Such a guy is preferred for the role of hero. And I know I don’t Fit in that criteria and I don’t want to become a hero because I am not a part of any lobby, There are as many lobbies as there are television channels.”
He further said,” I always get offers for the key roles or difficult characters which people and the Heros don’t agree on doing and I like doing such roles. If I will get an offer to become a hero I’ll do that because at the end of the day I am an artist who is interested in performing.”

He gave me the briefing, I read the script and liked the character and also loved getting another chance of working with Anjum Shehzad and with that he said I am casting you opposite Uzma khan. After that Uzma called me and said, “I Am doing it because of you, if you won’t do it I will also not do this project” and that made me accept the project instantly.”
Talking About Uzma Khan he said, “Uzma is a wonderful actress and a very good friend of mine. We have such great onscreen chemistry. She is also a theater actress so we have the same frequency of working and we treat our characters in the same way and we also help each other while working on a project which makes the director’s job easy”.
Talking about his character in Pehli si Mohabbat he said, ” Murad and Zainab’s characters are really twisted and somehow the story is surrounding around them. He said Murad and Zainab have a communication gap, Murad can’t express zainab can’t say anything, and the reason behind the misunderstanding between them will be revealed in the future.”
Talking about the cast, paras said, “I had such a great experience working with Maya Ali, Shehrayar Munawar HSY, and everyone else. Maya, Shehryar and HSY are such wonderful human beings. Maya is so friendly, generous and humble and it’s always good to be around her. Shehryar and I both offer our prayers together on the set.”
“Some characters have impressed me in this drama. Rabia Butt, Shabbir Jan, and Uzma have the strongest characters in the drama and I like how they are doing justice with their roles because i thoroughly watch their scenes.”
