Parizaad Episode 8 Story Review – Redefining Priorities

This was another unpredictable and emotional episode of Parizaad. Parizaad made a difficult decision, redefined his priorities in life and the viewers learned the truth about Lubna which definitely came as a complete shock! This drama has so many strengths from a script that never ceases to impress and entertain to the perfect execution; Parizaad is definitely the best Pakistani drama on air at the moment. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance has left me in awe of his talent; he is an exceptional actor who is redefining the term ‘hero’ just like Imran Ashraf did when he played Bhola’s role in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. The entire story essentially revolves around Parizaad therefore Ahmed Ali’s performance has definitely made a huge difference. Hashim Nadeem’s beautiful and meaningful script is getting even more interesting with every passing episode. His leading man is the highlight of every single episode; he has written this character with the kind of precision which is unprecedented.

Lubna’s Track

Lubna turned out to be yet another person in Parizaad’s life who left a lasting impression on him both directly and indirectly. Every person Parizaad meets teaches him something or the other. All these characters are introduced in such a way that you feel as if they will be there to stay for a while. However, they literally come and go but the impact they leave on us as viewers and on Parizaad’s life stays there. The truth about Lubna’s background and identity was nothing short of a shock! I must say that Mashal Khan performed really well and so did Natasha Hussain. Unlike Yeh Dil Hei Mera, she fit perfectly in the role she was playing and her short appearance changed the course of Parizaad’s life altogether. Lubna valued Parizaad and saw the beauty in him but her mother had a completely different philosophy! Somehow what she said left such an impact that Parizaad decided to quit college – I did not see that coming at all! I was expecting Parizaad to make it big someday using his intellect and natural knack for poetry but the writer has something different in store for us!

Parizaad Episode 8 Story Review – Redefining Priorities

Lubna’s mother’s words perhaps resonated with Parizaad more because of all his experiences in life so far. I must say that whatever she said was, unfortunately, a sad reality of our society which is dominated by people who have money and are influential. Perhaps learning the truth about Lubna was also partially the reason why Parizaad took such a big step. He knew that Lubna did not like Noman at all yet she was going to be with him because he had the financial resources! It was sad watching someone such as her going through all this, just like Bubbly and Nasaaz, Lubna will also be missed! Had Lubna not invited Parizaad to that party, he wouldn’t have been given that offer by Noman.

Selling Dreams

Parizaad decided to sell all his dreams tonight for two completely different reasons. He decided to quit studies in order to take the first step towards making money which he was now sure was more important than working on his education. He also sold his poetry book to help his sister because even with all her dedication to her husband, she couldn’t be happy if she did not provide him with all the money he needed. Parizaad has always been an upright and honest individual. When he went to sell his poetry he did not ask for more money than he needed which basically went to show that he made sure that he didn’t keep any money from this deal for himself even though he could have kept some money for himself as well to start a small business. Watching relationships fall apart because of financial issues; Parizaad is more convinced than ever that whatever Lubna’s mother said was true. The poet with a heart of gold is now on a new mission that might not go well with his personality but we all know that he is capable of excelling in anything he sets his mind to.

When Parizaad told Saeeda where he got the money from, he was not proud of himself but he was simply doing what needed to be done. His dialogues also reflected slight bitterness. Naheed is back in the picture and she was just as disappointed and surprised to hear about Parizaad’s latest decision as everyone else.

Final Remarks

With this episode, Parizaad’s story took a completely different turn that was totally unexpected. Everything that happened showed how a person is molded by his experiences and sometimes people end up doing things that are actually contrary to everything they have ever believed in. Even now, it is impossible to tell what will happen next which makes this drama different from all the others. Lubna’s character is out of the picture for now. Her track also reinforced the basic premises of the storyline – don’t judge a book by its cover! It is interesting how most people Parizaad comes across reinforce this idea which is indeed so true. I am waiting to see what Naheed has to say to Parizaad in the upcoming episode. Parizaad’s meeting with Lubna and her mother was definitely the highlight of this episode. The script, performances, and execution continue to be exceptional every single week which makes Parizaad a must-watch.

Parizaad Episode 7 Story Review – The Offer

Parizaad’s journey continues to be engaging and heartfelt. Tonight’s episode was beautifully put together; showing the main protagonist’s shortcomings and strengths with the utmost precision yet again! It has only been 7 weeks but I am already more invested in this story than any other in a really long time. A great deal has changed in Parizaad’s life and through it, all the viewers have seen different versions of him. A beautifully etched-out character translated in the most poignant manner on-screen; Parizaad will be remembered for a really long time for all the right reasons. This was another one of those episodes which took me completely by surprise. Lubna’s character turned out to be the complete opposite of her first impression. Meaningful conversations, brilliant performances, and amazing camerawork make Parizaad the only drama right now I truly look forward to watching and discussing. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance was superb as usual; this should be counted as one of the best performances in Pakistani dramas ever!

New Friendship, Old Inhibitions

When I watched the promo of this episode, I got the feeling that Lubna was perhaps one of those rich spoiled brats who would probably end up making fun of Parizaad! She turned out to be someone who saw Parizaad’s soul through his poetry and was actually fascinated by him. Parizaad and Lubna’s scenes tonight were a treat to watch since they did not just introduce Lubna’s character but also showed how shy and awkward Parizaad was around her even when she made him feel so comfortable. As someone who was never accepted by most people around him and was continuously trying to fit in, Parizaad’s inhibitions make so much sense! While he does not shy away from sharing his poetic verses with the world, he is not too keen on being around people even when they welcome him. After Nasaaz, Parizaad has a new person in his life who believes in him. Interestingly enough, he made his first true friend because of common interest and knack for poetry, and this time around too Lubna extended her hand of friendship mostly due to Parizaad’s poetry. It seems as if his poetry isn’t just another side of his personality but it is the most important interest which will perhaps determine what turn his life takes in the near future. There has been constant stress on how gifted he is right from the start and now Lubna introduced him as one of the best. Even now the experience he had with Naheed continues to be his ‘inspiration’ while penning down poetry.

Parizaad Episode 7 Story Review – The Offer

Right from the start, Parizaad was honest about the visible differences between him and Lubna. Even though he is shy and well aware of his ‘shortcomings’, Parizaad is always eloquent. He wins people over with his words, even when he is not reciting poetry; his conversations are a true reflection of his actual personality. You would expect someone as shy as him to hold back while talking to someone but Parizaad does not do that, perhaps because one thing he is confident about is his intellect and how he puts his feelings into words. This part of his personality makes him an even more appealing character. He also enjoys attention and praise; in this episode as well, there were at least 4 scenes in which he enjoyed the attention he was getting.

At the party, he knew he was a misfit but he turned up. Even when Noman made the offer, Parizaad did not just refuse but left with a remark that you would normally not expect from someone like him. He has a strong side to his personality as well and it is this eloquence that makes all his scenes more interesting. Lubna’s track is also quite interesting; I want to know more about her. She also seems like a misfit and is constantly pushed around to do things she’s not comfortable with. The move was done against her wishes and her mother also keeps a check on who she can be friends with. Mashal Khan acted well in this episode and I warmed up to this character instantly.

Saeeda’s Track

Saeeda’s track also took an unpredictable turn. We were all expecting her to be happily married but now her husband is pressurizing her just as much as her mother-in-law. The brothers and the bhabhis are not willing to give her the share and are also hiding a big secret! So far Parizaad was not too ‘involved’ in everything that was going on since at the end of the day this was going to be his brothers’ decision. Now that he heard what kind of a situation Saeeda is facing first hand and then he also has the ‘offer’, he might be tempted to sell his poetry to help Saeeda out. I am waiting to see if and how that happens because I cannot even imagine Parizaad taking such a step. But then everything that has happened so far has been quite contrary to my expectations therefore it is impossible to predict what turn the story will take. There must be a solid reason why Saeeda’s track is being given so much screen time. It will definitely impact Parizaad in some way, I am waiting to see how that will happen.

Final Remarks

While Parizaad himself continues to be the star of the show, every new character brings with it something new and unpredictable. With Lubna’s entry into the story, Parizaad’s life has taken yet another different kind of turn. Watching this drama is like reading different chapters of a person’s life who is continuously experiencing something new. I have a bad feeling that this might turn out to be another bitter experience for him. The possibilities are endless! Parizaad’s dialogues about love and hatred tonight completely won me over. The writer Hashim Nadeem has penned down the most beautiful dialogues for Parizaad in particular. It is evident that this character is really close to his heart. I missed Bubbly Badmash tonight and wouldn’t want Lubna to exit the story too soon.

Parizaad Episode 6 Story Review – New Beginning

This was yet another mind-blowing episode of a drama that is unlike any other. Hum definitely deserves due credit for airing quite a few dramas this season that have unusual and appealing storylines. Hashim Nadeem’s script has been beyond impressive so far. I cannot recall watching another drama such as this one in which characters enter and then exit, leaving an impact of some kind on the main protagonist. Parizaad’s story is becoming even more relatable with every passing episode. This is the story of every single person out there who has ever dreamed and struggled. Every person’s life is shaped by the kind of people they come across yet we have never watched a drama that focused on this particular aspect of people’s lives. I am absolutely in love with the theme of this drama because it is not just new but also extremely enticing. I didn’t just watch but felt Bubbly and Nasaaz exit from the story. It was such an intelligent way of showing how people you attach your hopes to and those you think you cannot do without, disappear from your lives. The connection I feel to all these characters makes every episode of Parizaad a rollercoaster ride of emotions.

Bubbly and Nasaaz’s Exit

Bubbly and Nasaaz’s exit (at least for now) from the story came as a complete surprise to me. I was expecting them to be around for a few more episodes. Just like Naheed, they were there for a while and after leaving a mark on Parizaad’s life, they left. In these 6 episodes, 4 important characters influenced Parizaad’s life, shaped up his personality, and left. Each one of these characters taught Parizaad something about life and also shaped up his own image in his mind. Naheed’s exit made Parizaad feel unwanted and rejected. All the interactions he had with Majid, made him unsure about people in general. Bubbly was like a ray of hope for him; someone who willingly accepted him for who he was. Yet, she left, and once again he felt betrayed and rejected. Not just this, he also blamed himself partially for pushing Bubbly in this direction. Bubbly and Parizaad’s scene was one of the best ones in this episode. The viewers couldn’t even have imagined that Bubbly had a completely different plan.

Parizaad Episode 6 Story Review – New Beginning

Most people in Parizaad’s life rejected him. Nasaaz is the only person who always pointed out his strengths and helped him start afresh. Right from their first meeting till the last one, he imparted wisdom and gave Parizaad hope. Parizaad did his duty as a friend by being there for him in whichever way he possibly could. The writer showed the caring and responsible side of Parizaad through the scene in which he told Nasaaz that he had paid his fee. I felt just as broken and lost when Nasaaz left as Parizaad did. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance in every single scene was phenomenal but in this particular scene, he translated the character’s emotions so beautifully! Standing there in a public place, Parizaad cried like a lost baby! I felt that and I am sure so did all the other viewers. Nasaaz parting words yet again reflected his faith in his friend and through this scene, the viewers were informed how Parizaad managed to bag a scholarship and was now going to study in a top-notch university.

New Beginning

After Bubbly and Nasaaz exited Parizaad’s life, a new character was introduced played by Mashal Khan. Her first introduction suggested that she was an affluent background just like the majority of the students in this university and wasn’t too welcoming of a young man such as Parizaad. The new university Parizaad has been enrolled in will introduce him to a life completely different from the one he has been used to. Just when I thought he had learned enough, there is a whole new environment for him to adjust to. The whole setup made it even clearer why he was so scared of facing this new life on his own. Parizaad has been a loner for the most part of his life and he has always been quite focused on his studies. I am waiting to see his interactions with this new crowd and how these people add to his journey.

Even though Parizaad has made it big for someone from his background, there is still not much that he can do for his sister who is in desperate need of money. There must be a solid reason for showing Saeeda’s desperation for money. Ultimately, Parizaad will perhaps have to do something he wouldn’t do otherwise to help his sister. I am really curious to know how that is going to unravel.

Parizaad Episode 6 Story Review – New Beginning

The way Parizaad’s fascination with the piano was shown in this episode was superb! It went to show that even though he was an intelligent person who had been trying his best to make ends meet, he could not save enough money to buy something he had wanted for so many years. The piano represented all those unfulfilled dreams which might be easily attainable for many but there are others such as Parizaad who nurture these dreams even in the most hopeless situations until they come true! The flashback scene added more substance and meaning to this entire development. Parizaad’s interaction with the shop owner was also beautifully penned down.

Final Remarks

This was yet another picture-perfect episode of Parizaad. It was penned down in the most enticing manner, the performances couldn’t have been more on point and the direction was equally impressive. Ahmed Ali Akbar has truly outdone himself; there aren’t enough praise words in the English dictionary to describe his performance in the drama. Wholesome and endearing; Parizaad is turning out to be a really ‘special’ drama.

Parizaad Episode 5 Story Review – Must-Watch

Parizaad is turning out to be a drama with a seamless story as it gets better with every single episode. I am completely sold after watching tonight’s episode. I just hope that it continues to be this strong in terms of storyline and characterizations in particular. The script continues to be not just unpredictable but also enticing. It is such a refreshing change watching characters and stories which are unlike others we see in Pakistani dramas.
I have complete faith in Ahmed Ali Akbar, Saboor Aly, and Adeel Afzal in particular. All the other upcoming actors are also a few of the most talented people in the industry therefore the performances will continue to mesmerize. Saboor Aly’s performance impressed me more than ever tonight; her body language went so well with the character. I am genuinely pleased that she decided to take up this role and she has performed it so well.

Parizaad and Bubbly

Until last week, I was convinced that none of the other characters in this drama would be able to hold my interest the way Parizaad does but then Bubbly entered and changed everything! I love the way this character has been etched out and translated on screen. Saboor Aly’s performance is at par with that of Ahmed Ali Akbar which is such a huge deal considering how outstanding his performance has been. Parizaad might have had a lot of setbacks in his life but he continues to be a fighter. He is intelligent and also resourceful. He managed to convince Bubbly to do something she was not prepared to do and later on bailed his brother-in-law out using his contacts. It is interesting how this seemingly socially inept and awkward man manages to get so much done using his intellect. He does not know how to receive praise and he definitely does not show how capable he actually is. However, at the same time, he looked genuinely pleased with himself when his contact helped bail his brother-in-law out. He definitely takes pleasure in bringing happiness to people he loves; Saeeda being on top of that list!!

Parizaad and Bubbly have certain similarities as well – both of them never got the acceptance they wanted from their families or the society due to completely different reasons. However, interestingly enough, the reasons are also somewhat similar because it is their outward appearance that is their first introduction. While in Bubbly’s case what you see is what you get, the same is not true for Parizaad. Most people do not accept someone who does not conform to the beauty standards of society to be so bright! While Parizaad has managed to carve a path for himself despite all the setbacks, Bubbly being a girl is still struggling. I absolutely loved Saboor Aly’s body language in the scene showing how Bubbly looked at herself in the mirror. The dialogues and these situations were hilarious as well as meaningful, which is always a winning combo! Bubbly’s scene with her father was equally powerful. I personally know someone like Bubbly therefore her scenes resonate with me on a different level! Parizaad and Bubbly both are fighting against all odds in their own ways.

Parizaad Episode 5 Story Review – Must-Watch

Kanwal’s character continues to be so refreshing; her conversation with Parizaad yet again suggested that Naheed will be back at some point. Kanwal always had a soft corner for Parizaad. I am glad she figured out what was going on and that she decided to talk to Parizaad. The highlight of Parizaad and Bubbly’s track was Nasaaz’s suggestion at the end of this episode. Bubbly and Parizaad’s scenes suggested that their relationship was meant to last and I kept on wondering how this marriage will take place, now we know how! The writer gave Parizaad the most convincing motive to act on Nasaaz’s advice.

Saeeda’s Track

Saeeda and Parizaad’s love for each other was well established in the first three episodes. Even though the bhabis’ scenes were unbearable in the previous two episodes, these bhabhis will be affecting the developments in the upcoming episodes in such a way that Saeeda is further pushed into a situation where only Parizaad can help her out. Saeeda’s husband’s recent financial crisis would be the reason for Parizaad’s decision to marry Bubbly. I am impressed with how the writer has connected these two tracks to make a major shift in Parizaad’s track. Saeeda’s in-laws refused to sell her jewelry; I am wondering how they will be convinced to accept the money Parizaad offers for help.

Final Remarks

This was another thoroughly entertaining episode of Parizaad with some exceptional performances. Hashim Nadeem has given us some of his best characters in this drama, so far. Ahmed Ali Akbar deserves tons of appreciation for giving the most unforgettable and organic performance of his career. He is truly gifted and he has clearly put his heart and soul into this one. Saboor Aly is equally convincing as Bubbly Badmash; her performance is just as superlative as the character. The director also deserves due credit for giving this script such a treatment that every single important scene, in particular, stands out. Some of the scenes in this episode were shot so well; the camera work has been amazing throughout.

Parizaad Episode 4 Story Review – Enter Bubbly Badmash

Parizaad continues to be an interesting drama serial with quite a few remarkable and unusual characters. The social commentary in this episode about the double standards that exist in society suggested that the writer will probably be highlighting different social issues in the drama. The basic idea that you should not judge a book by its cover is already the main theme of the drama. Some of the scenes were unnecessarily stretched such as the conversation between the bhabhis, they are getting a lot more screen time than needed.

The main protagonist’s journey has my undivided attention thanks to the team effort of everyone involved. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance never fails to impress. Bubbly badmash’s character won me over instantly; Saboor Aly’s uninhibited performance was not OTT and just right for the role. Parizaad has such a strong screen presence that I never imagined that another character would be able to grab my attention instantly therefore this was a pleasant surprise. The drama has a steady pace so far, every episode offers something new. The writer is not in a rush to tell the story; something which I always appreciate as long as the script has enough substance. Some of the scenes however can easily be chopped down. With this episode, Parizaad gained a little more confidence and got some acceptance. Saeeda’s track took a sad turn and for now, Naheed is out of the picture.

Parizaad’s Journey

The opening scenes of this episode were dedicated to bidding farewell to Naheed. Parizaad felt unworthy and unseen after the wedding and most importantly the rejection. Ushna Shah’s expressions were so on point in the scene where Naheed and Parizaad met right before she left for Karachi. She realizes that she is guilty but does not feel the need to apologize. Parizaad really has a heart of gold because even though he was heartbroken, he wished these people who used and betrayed him well. Ahmed has a playful and colorful side to his personality as well; another thing that he has in common with his new best friend.

Kanwal’s character always stood out because of its positive and sympathetic nature. Her conversation with Naheed was the highlight of this episode. Although it is difficult to tell how she figured out that Naheed used Parizaad but the warning and advice she gave her went to show that Naheed’s actions might come to haunt her at some point. Tanya Hussain’s performance has definitely left an impact even though she is playing a side character.

Parizaad Episode 4 Story Review – Enter Bubbly Badmash

Bubbly was introduced as a fierce, outspoken, and a naughty young girl who is also a complete misfit and perhaps has gender identity issues as well. The fact that she could not continue with her studies also suggests that she might have learning disabilities. Although, this character overall was quite interesting and Saboor Aly’s performance was the icing on the cake. However, I do feel that there is too much going on here if you actually sit down to assess Bubbly’s overall personality. All of Bubbly’s interactions with Parizaad right from the first to the last one were thoroughly entertaining. She instantly picked up that Parizaad would willingly help her out if she blackmailed him. For now, I would like to believe that she did not feel ‘safe’ around Parizaad because of his looks but because of his personality. Saboor Aly and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s on-screen chemistry definitely added an extra spark to these scenes.

Saeeda’s Track

Saeeda’s bhabhis are turning out to be typical characters and they are getting a great deal of screen time. I am waiting to find out if there is an actual reason why their conversations with each other are the focus of attention repeatedly. The fact that they are selfish has been well established by now and it is also evident that they do not want to see Saeeda happily married even though they married her off to someone twice her age! Saeeda’s mother-in-law looks like the same age as her husband, which is really strange and another example of miscasting in this drama. Saeeda’s husband seems to be a decent man who got into trouble by the time this episode ended. The preview of the next episode suggested that this development will somehow impact Parizaad’s journey as well, I am waiting to see how that is going to happen.

Final Remarks

With the exception of a few scenes which were stretched and somewhat unnecessary, this episode was one of the best we have seen so far. Bubbly and her mother’s characters were acted out superbly and I warmed up to them immediately. I am waiting to see more of Bubbly and Parizaad’s interactions with each other. Ahmed Ali Akbar award-worthy performance cannot be appreciated enough. The actor playing Ahmed’s role is also quite impressive and well-suited for the role.

Parizaad Episode 3 Story Review – A Strong Protagonist

Tonight’s episode covered how the developments in the previous episode impacted Parizaad in particular. Parizaad continues to be the most central character in the story; he has a screen presence like no other which suggests that all the other characters at the moment are perhaps going to be a thing of the past as the story progresses. In the previous episode, I felt as if Parizaad might do something to stop Naheed’s marriage since there were some scenes in the previous episode which showed how frustrated he was. Therefore, his reaction came as a complete surprise to me. The way he ‘accepted’ his fate even though this was the worst possible rejection and even betrayal suggested that he would not harm anyone even when he was being let down in the worst manner possible. The artsy feel of the drama, cinematography, Parizaad’s journey, and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s phenomenal performance continue to be the main attractions of this drama.

Parizaad Meets an Unusual Mentor

Tonight’s episode opened with Parizaad and Ahmed’s first meeting. Ahmed’s unusual personality traits were visible from his first scene. He gave the kind of reality checks which Parizaad needed the most at this point in time. Although, he gave Parizaad some of the most useful advice he did so in such a manner as if he couldn’t care less about him. He was straightforward and frank right from the beginning. Their mutual interest in poetry drew them close to each other instantly. There was a great deal of focus on poetry in this episode. The poetic verses were used repeatedly by Ahmed to make Parizaad understand his situation and make a connection with him. Ahmed is probably the only friend Parizaad has ever made and as the story proceeded, he seemed like a mentor as well.

Parizaad Episode 3 Story Review – A Strong Protagonist

All of Parizaad’s conversations with Ahmed were beautifully written. He shared details of his personal life and Ahmed seems to be teaching him how to walk on a different path and see his strengths step by step. Shoki’s track was also used to show the positive side of Parizaad’s personality. Even after everything that happened, he wanted the best for Naheed. He even won someone like Shoki over; I wonder if Parizaad will give him a chance to honor his promise.

The Weddings

Naheed and Saeeda both got married in this episode; I wasn’t expecting this to happen so soon! The entire process of Naheed and Majid’s wedding was quite smooth. Parizaad could have easily done something to halt the process but he did not even think on those lines. He was too hurt by Naheed’s rejection and the way he was used by both these people he expected better from. Saeeda also decided to go ahead with the marriage even though her dulha was much older than her. He turned out to be a decent person though but even at this age, he needed his parents’ constant approval. The selfish bhabis have to be the most stereotypical characters in the drama. The over-dependent brothers are just as clichéd.

It seems as if Naheed’s chapter might be over since Saboor Aly’s character will be introduced in the upcoming episode. I am definitely excited to meet this new character and all the others as well in the upcoming episodes. So far, none of the setbacks have made Parizaad resort to negativity therefore it seems as if his journey will mostly be about his struggles and what he learns from them.

Parizaad Episode 3 Story Review – A Strong Protagonist

Final Remarks

The writer is taking his time establishing the main premise of the story. His central character is clearly very dear to him therefore he is making sure that everyone understands Parizaad’s character before focusing on other supporting characters. Hashim Nadeem does tend to put a lot of effort into his main protagonists therefore this does not come as a surprise. The intelligent, vulnerable, and sensitive personality traits of Parizaad’s personality make him a wholesome character. His scenes with all those people who he holds dear such as his sister and now Ahmed were the highlight of this episode. Everything about Ahmed Ali Akbar’s smirk to his gait couldn’t have been more perfect for the role. Although all the actors playing supporting characters in Parizaad are exceptionally talented some of them look too old to play the roles they have been assigned. The story continues to be unpredictable and therefore intriguing.

Parizaad Episode 27 Story Review – Giving Up

This was yet another episode covering Parizaad’s never-ending inner struggles versus the outer appearances he keeps in order to make sure that his outer persona matches his status! It is interesting that even though his entire journey was focused at getting loved by someone unconditionally, he still does not have a problem accepting himself and holding himself accountable towards the end. There have been so many instances where the writer made us believe that even with all his struggles, Parizaad always accepted himself wholeheartedly. Tonight’s episode yet again showed that Parizaad is still the same person he was back when he was rejected by Naheed! I am glad that the writer kept the beauty of this character alive right till the end. Annie’s feelings for Parizaad appeared to be much stronger in this episode than ever. This was another episode that belonged to Ahmed Ali Akbar who has always kept the essence of his character alive by translating its different shades impeccably on screen. The writer Hashim Nadeem’s dialogues definitely stand out and the director Shehzad Kashmiri has made sure that these meaningful dialogues are not lost in translation.

Making Important Decisions

Parizaad met yet another person from his past whose selfishness and insensitivity impacted his entire life. Seth Noman was perhaps the one who made Parizaad realize more than ever that he needed money in order to live a life on his own terms and conditions. This meeting was quite interesting since the tables had turned completely and just like most of the people from Parizaad’s past, Noman was more than willing to give Parizaad the kind of respect which his status demanded! The expressions on his face were priceless when he found out who P.Z Mir actually was!

Nasaaz got his happy ending in this episode but Parizaad was just as lost today as he was back in the day when he met Nasaaz for the first time. The writer has through Parizaad’s journey established the fact that money cannot buy happiness! Parizaad has not been able to change himself entirely even though he tried. His conversation with Behroze Karim made his mental state more clear than ever. Parizaad’s scenes tonight showed two completely different sides of his character. There were times when it felt as if he was more than comfortable being the person he was. He refused to get cosmetic surgery done because he did not want such a change to alter his personality. However, he also considered himself a coward and a failure because he has not been able to make the changes in his personality that were needed to make him attain the unattainable!Parizaad Episode 27 Story Review – Giving Up

I must say that Parizaad’s decision to spare Sharjeel’s life did not come as a surprise at all. The most pleasant aspect of this development was Parizaad getting a reality check from the person in the mirror which represented Parizaad’s actual personality. By the end of this episode, Parizaad made yet another decision that involved helping others and it seems as if he is going to distance himself from this life which he has been living as P.Z Mir. While watching this episode I felt that Parizaad did stand a chance had he decided to be there when Annie got her eyesight back but it seems as if he has made up his mind that Annie deserves better than him! Even though Annie has more than once expressed her reverence for him yet somehow Parizaad does not feel worthy of all the love and appreciation he gets from her. Since Sharjeel shared his actual feelings for Annie with him, he feels obligated to be the “giver” this time around as well! Annie’s praise for Parizaad was a little too long; these dialogues could easily have been chopped down. Other than that, this episode was perfectly put together and had my undivided attention.

Final Remarks

This was another meaningful and engaging episode of Parizaad. It was directed brilliantly which definitely added to its appeal. I am looking forward to an ending that will be in line with the main theme of this drama. A happy ending is highly unlikely since Parizaad is not even willing to try but there could also be a surprise in store since Annie was much more expressive tonight than she has ever been. Will Annie choose Parizaad over Sharjeel? Or will Parizaad’s journey end on a sad note? I am waiting to find out!

Parizaad Episode 26 Story Review – Unfulfilled Desires

Parizaad continues to be an entertaining drama that keeps on taking the most unimaginable twists and turns! Or at least the writer has more than once shown scenarios that break the monotony and keep the viewers on the edge! Right from the beginning, there have been quite a few instances when I found myself questioning Parizaad’s intentions and future plans. So far, Parizaad’s humane and sensitive side definitely takes over whenever certain situations suggest that he might do something extreme to fulfill his heart’s desire. Ahmed Ali Akbar yet again performed exceptionally well in this latest episode especially when Sharjeel shared his ‘secret’ with him and when he was on the call with Annie. The director also deserves credit for making sure that every single gesture and expression got noticed by the viewers which added nuances and intensity to the scenes.

Unfulfilled Desires

These last few episodes have been focusing more on Parizaad’s desire to be loved. The most amusing element of this episode had to be Parizaad resorting to cosmetic procedures in order to improve his looks before Annie gets her eyesight back. It was amusing because of so many social media users actually gave such suggestions to Parizaad when he attained all the wealth! This was also another meaningful development in the story since it showed that his insecurities about his looks were just as strong as ever. Parizaad was shown paying heed to Nasaaz’s advice just like he used to do before. Some of the advice he gave reflected his realistic approach towards life. He was the one who had once asked Parizaad to marry Bubbly so that he could get the money he needed to help Saeeda. And now he told him to think about himself for a change. He definitely voiced the viewers’ opinion when he asked Parizaad to go the extra mile to make his own dreams come true. He was also the one who gave Parizaad the suggestion to improve his looks. Although Nasaaz is a poet who did not let commercialism define his craft, he definitely has a worldly approach to a lot of things.

Parizaad Episode 26 Story Review – Unfulfilled Desires

Sharjeel’s confession scene was actually cute. Fahad Mirza is well suited for the role he is playing. Sharjeel is just as impressed by Parizaad’s personality as Annie and he is convinced that Parizaad sir can do no wrong! He comes across as a genuinely simple and nice person, the kind of character you like instantly. When he shared his true feelings for Annie, even though Parizaad was shattered inside, he hid his actual feelings and reaction brilliantly. History was repeating itself yet again with Parizaad’s worst fears coming true! I must say that I did not see this coming at all, I was expecting something entirely different. Although Parizaad expected this to happen, he found it as difficult to accept it as he did the first time he fell in love. It is interesting that even though Parizaad is convinced that he does not deserve to be loved, he is subconsciously waiting and consciously preparing to be loved!

The most shocking development in this episode was Parizaad’s latest plan to get Sharjeel out of the way! This was outrageous and completely unexpected! Surely, Parizaad is not so heartless therefore I am eagerly waiting to find out where this track is headed. The scene in which Parizaad played the piano and cried over what he believed was the ‘unattainable’ was my favorite in this episode especially because there was a time when all he wanted was a piano and now when he had it, he was still not content! This was a beautifully put-together and meaningful scene.

Final Remarks

Once again the writer introduced a twist in the story that was hard to digest but it was also the reason why most of us will be looking forward to the upcoming episode. I am pretty sure by now that this latest development will also unravel in the most unexpected manner. It was interesting how Parizaad’s stance changed by the end of this episode. In the beginning, he was not willing to do anything extreme and was highly sensitive but by the end of this episode, he was desperately resorting to extreme measures to get Sharjeel out of the way. When Parizaad took over Behroze’s empire, I was wondering if all this money could buy him happiness or even the kind of acceptance he has craved all his life – the answer so far is definitely in the negative. Nasaaz got his happy ending in this episode, will Parizaad get his?

Parizaad Episode 25 Story Review – More Surprises

This was another engaging episode of Parizaad with quite a few impressive performances. Guru’s scenes truly stood out for a number of reasons. They were penned down, acted out, and shot brilliantly. I am glad that the actor and the character is getting the screen time and attention he deserves. Yet again, Parizaad proved that even with his current status he was not going to let go of those principles which he always held so dear. Annie and Parizaad’s track however continues to be the most engaging element of the drama. Annie’s fascination with Parizaad sir keeps you guessing, which makes this entire track more interesting. Hashim Nadeem tends to pen down certain tracks in such a manner that you are left wondering about the true intentions of the characters in a pleasant manner. We also got to find out more about Annie in this episode and for the first time, the viewers saw a serious side to her character.

The Journey Continues

Sharjeel and Parizaad’s meeting in this episode was actually quite interesting. The contrast in their personalities was as clear as daylight. On the one hand, Parizaad did not think of himself worthy of praise and on the other hand, Sharjeel was full of confidence. Parizaad’s serious personality is also poles apart from Sharjeel’s fun-loving nature. Not to mention the fact that Sharjeel also takes pride in his good looks, something which Parizaad is seriously lacking in. Since even after attaining all the wealth, Parizaad’s personality is still defined by the lack of self-worth which he constantly feels due to all the obvious reasons which have been shown with the utmost clarity. The way Parizaad looked at Sharjeel suggested that he already saw him as his ‘competition’. Sharjeel on the other hand was welcoming and did not feel threatened by Annie’s new friend at all. He gave Parizaad the same Nasaaz’s dialogue about sharing his true feelings with the one he loved also indicated that this time around as well Parizaad’s love story might meet the same fate as the last few times.

Sharjeel and Annie’s mother’s conversation on the breakfast table hinted towards Annie getting her eyesight back at some point. I was expecting Parizaad to play a major role in helping her get her eyesight back and honestly speaking for a little while I was glad that was not going to be the case! However, when they started talking about the financial issues, it was immediately apparent that he was going to help her out financially in some way. The plan he came with was nothing short of pure genius! Fahad Mirza is definitely not as brilliant an actor as the majority of the actors in the drama but he does fit the role.

Parizaad Episode 25 Story Review – More Surprises

Parizaad and Guru’s scenes together were brilliantly written. Guru’s scenes in particular were the perfect example of highly impressive cinematography. It was good to see Parizaad getting his way without harming anyone. This was yet another example of how the writer made us believe that Parizaad was actually capable of doing something like this but then showed something which was definitely more in line with Parizaad’s actual personality. I am certain I am not the only one who did not want to see him going down the same road as Behroze Karim.

Majid and Naheed’s track is another one of those many tracks which have been largely influenced by Parizaad’s generosity. Naheed immediately realized that Parizaad was behind the positive changes in her life. The dialogues about respect being more important than love was one of my favorites tonight since respect is sometimes so underrated when people decide to start a new life together! Once again, Parizaad’s family, especially Saeeda was missing from the picture. Even after the murder attempt on Parizaad, we did not get to see a single scene showing her reaction.

Final Remarks

After watching the preview of the upcoming episode, my expectations changed completely. I can’t help but wonder if Parizaad will actually ask Sharjeel to keep Annie happy and to be by her side. I definitely do not expect him to ‘buy’ Annie’s affection or Sharjeel’s trust! The fact that even after all these weeks Parizaad is entertaining and highly unpredictable makes it a drama that keeps me looking forward to more.

Parizaad Episode 24 Story Review – Unexpected Developments

Parizaad’s journey continues to be marked with major changes in the main protagonist’s personality in particular. Tonight P Z Mir truly came into its own and it would be safe to say that Parizaad’s transformation from a young lost boy to an underground Don is now complete! The gradual and convincing changes in Parizaad’s personality have to be the best aspect of the drama so far. This drama continues to be unpredictable to an extent that sometimes it really takes time for me to get used to the new twists and turns in the story. The writer was definitely thinking out of the box while writing this script. The contrasting aspects of Parizaad’s personal life and business world were more apparent than ever in this latest episode. Parizaad is in love once again and Annie’s dialogues also suggested that she might feel more than just reverence for Parizaad. There were also certain surprises in store tonight which gave me a reason to look forward to the next episode.

Naheed’s Reaction To Rejection

Tonight’s episode opened with Naheed’s husband pointing out the changes in her behavior. Apparently, someone as shallow as Naheed also considered self-reflection after being rejected by someone she had always taken for granted. While this reaction made sense, I felt that this opening scene was not impactful enough. All of Naheed’s scenes with her husband so far did not suggest that she was a headstrong woman who did not let this man do what he wanted to. From her first pregnancy till date Naheed always came across as someone who had resigned to her fate and was most often seen accepting her husband’s irrational behavior more than once. Also, this was perhaps the only ‘normal’ interaction between her and her husband ever since their track was reintroduced in the story therefore it also came across as somewhat odd. I always felt that Naheed’s husband stopped noticing her altogether a long time back therefore his comments were difficult to connect to.

Changes In Parizaad

The rest of the episode focused on Parizaad and Annie. What started off as a romantic track with Parizaad falling madly in love with Annie, turned into a complicated situation owing to Parizaad’s business rivalry. Personally, the security breach that led to Akbar taking the bullet to save his maalik’s life was a case of carelessness on the part of a highly trained security force! Also, when Parizaad went to confront seth it felt as if he managed to get inside the office a little too easily especially because he must have known that Parizaad had escaped unharmed and will be taking revenge sooner or later!

Parizaad Episode 24 Story Review - Unexpected Developments

There were two major surprises in this episode of two entirely different kinds. One was Parizaad’s revenge plan – who would have thought that a man who wanted to avoid confrontation at all costs would do something so drastic in this episode. The reason was logical enough since parizaad is the kind of person who would do the unexpected in order to protect the people he loved. And of course, then there was the flashback scene in which Behroze Karim’s advice was another major motive for him to do the needful in order to protect himself and the people he loved. This was definitely unexpected and even now it is difficult to believe that this gentle human can go this far to get the message across. Ahmed Ali Akbar yet again nailed another major transformation in his character.

Parizaad and Nasaaz’s conversation about Pari’s love life was one of the most beautifully penned-down conversations in this episode. Nasaaz continues to be the mentor in terms of teaching Parizaad the truth about relationships. The second major surprise was Fahad Mirza’s entry in the drama. I did not know that he was part of this drama and most importantly I did not see this coming at all! Clearly, this new character has the potential to be yet another someone special in Annie’s life. The fact that he is also a doctor also made me wonder if he is the one who might help Annie get her eyesight back. Will Parizaad’s heart be broken yet again? Could this be the same scenario as Naheed all over again? I am definitely waiting to find out where this track is headed since Annie’s true feelings for Parizaad are still a mystery.

Final Remarks

This was yet another episode of Parizaad with quite a few unexpected developments and a phenomenal performance from Ahmed Ali Akbar in particular. Also, I am wondering if Saeeda watched the news and will call her brother!! I am honestly weary of such important characters disappearing from the screen altogether! Especially because it is so convenient to keep them in the picture by giving them a few seconds of screen time whenever it is necessary to do so! The preview of the next episode suggested that Parizaad will actually go ahead with his plan to take revenge! Can he really be ruthless enough to target the seth’s son? I am also wondering where Pari’s journey will eventually lead him because right now things are getting more complicated than I anticipated that they would become. The writer deserves all the appreciation for penning down some of the most meaningful dialogues that are an absolute treat. It was also good to see the guru back in the picture again.

Parizaad Episode 23 Story Review – Mixed Messages

Tonight’s episode of Parizaad reflected more of the leading character’s feelings and journey. A new character was introduced in this episode and Parizaad met yet another old friend. I must say that it has been brilliant watching these characters from Pari’s past making comebacks. Even though these comebacks are getting monotonous owing to the situation all these individuals are in, it is always pleasant watching them yet again on screen. The producers and the director have definitely made sure that all the situations look as realistic on-screen as possible. The Annie/Parizaad sculpture scene and even the dialogues were heavily inspired by Lionel Richie’s song Hello’s video. I seriously doubt that this was merely a coincidence. However, I must say that the director definitely took it a step further by making sure that the viewers actually got to see the sculpture. And I also appreciate the fact that the sculpture did look a lot like Parizaad. It was nevertheless disappointing that even the dialogues were more or less the same as the music video, especially the part where Annie tells Parizaad that was how she “saw” him. I am definitely more interested in this particular track at the moment more than any other. This is definitely going to make or break Parizaad.

Parizaad Episode 23 Story Review – Mixed Messages

Mixed Messages

Parizaad’s dialogues have been giving mixed signals about his present feelings for Naheed and his general feeling towards love. On the one hand, it seemed as if he no longer felt attracted to her because he understood why she was now “attracted” towards him. Also, he clearly finds Annie appealing as well. On the other hand, the opening scenes in tonight’s episode suggested that he still felt the rejection with the same intensity as he did so many years back. Parizaad is still searching for the kind of love he always yearned for yet in his heart he has little hope that he will find it. It was already well established right from the beginning that Parizaad was attracted towards beautiful women, which is also interesting since his own looks have always been the one thing about him that made his life most difficult. It goes to show that just like most people Parizaad also finds the “unattainable” attractive!

It would be safe to say that some of the grey areas of Parizaad’s character can sometimes be confusing because overall the positive aspects of his personality always dominate. This episode also might have partially answered the question whether money can buy happiness! Parizaad is still miserable and feels that there’s no cure for the loneliness he felt the first time he was rejected by someone he was head over heels in love with. Although, this time around he “rejected” Naheed in perhaps the same manner in which she rejected him, the big difference however is that he did not use or manipulate her situation in any way. The fact that Parizaad continued to find ways to help Naheed out went to show that he was still the same person who forgave easily and did not believe in taking revenge.

Meeting Nasaaz

Lubna is finally back in the picture. There was definitely a lack of continuity in this track because of her sudden disappearance. The audition scene was also needlessly stretched in this episode; it could easily have been chopped down. The introduction of the new characters finally leads to Parizaad’s meeting with Nasaaz. I was looking forward to this meeting yet I was somewhat disappointed because Nasaaz turned out to be yet another important character from Parizaad’s past that needed his help! I would have loved to see him as an accomplished writer without the aid of his old friend. Although this was the perfect opportunity for Parizaad to help an old friend who did not only save his life but also gave it a new meaning, it would have been good to see him in a different situation. Pari’s relationship and interactions with everyone from his past have been shown more or less in the same manner. The light-hearted moments between Parizaad and Nasaaz were a treat to watch, nevertheless.

Annie and Parizaad

Annie and Parizaad’s scenes clearly suggested that Pari felt attracted towards her. Was this attraction mutual? While Annie is fascinated by Parizaad, so far there is nothing that would suggest that she is in love with him. Yumna Zaidi’s expressions in some of the scenes especially the ones in which she had to translate Annie’s excitement on-screen were priceless. Annie comes across as a genuine person who would most certainly not hold back if she felt something more than reverence for Parizaad. It is interesting how Parizaad is allowing himself to get closer to this young lady even though he is constantly afraid of his heart being broken yet again. Because of this situation, the opening dialogues failed to make a lot of sense to me. They sounded like more than a depiction of a temporary state of mind.

Final Remarks

Overall, this was an engaging episode, I am still as interested in Parizaad’s journey as I was before but I must say that some of the situations are turning out to be repetitive as well at this point. Also, the fact that some characters simply disappear from this drama does not sit well with me. Right now, apart from Saeeda, Kamali has also gone missing! I was not surprised to see the preview of the upcoming episode since Parizaad has been putting his life in danger even though he knows he has all these threats. Even though he wants to live, he does live on the edge!

Parizaad Episode 22 Story Review – Meaningful & Engaging

“Mujh jesu ko dushman ki zarurat nahi parti, hum khud hi apni dushmani ke liye kafi hote hein” was one of my favorite dialogues from this episode, which had so many beautifully written dialogues. The best scene had to be Parizaad’s meeting with Naheed – exceptionally well written as well as gratifying. There are so many interesting dimensions to Parizaad’s personality and I honestly feel that each individual out there who has ever struggled with self-love or acceptance would find it easy to connect to this journey. When Parizaad is in his office or around his employees, he never shows his vulnerabilities but when he is meeting someone in a personal capacity, he does not hold back. The wholesome and meaningful conversations coupled with phenomenal performances continue to be the best thing about the drama. Ahmed Ali Akbar continues to be outstanding in this role and Yumna Zaidi is another superb actress who never ceases to impress. The script however makes this drama truly stand out.

Meaningful Conversations

Parizaad has always been someone who has been quite aware of his strengths and weaknesses. His weaknesses however always defined the way his life moved forward more than his strengths. That is why he always had low self-esteem. It was interesting to see Parizaad admitting out loud to Naheed that he had desperately tried to get validation and love from others. However, he was convinced even now that he was perhaps incapable of being loved for who he was. His interactions with Annie definitely have shown him another perspective. She accepts him wholeheartedly and fails to understand why he has such a low opinion of himself. The most likable aspects of Parizaad’s personality have to be his honesty and intelligence. He is intelligent enough to perceive and accept things as they actually are, that is why he did not fall for Naheed’s lies. He is also honest enough to open up about his true feelings regarding others and himself. Even though he is in a position where he can win people over with his money but he has not done so. He has helped many people around him and plans to help others but his intentions were always honest, he did not expect anything in return.

The viewers found out more about Annie’s background in this episode. It was good to see Huma Nawab playing her mother’s role. The warm welcome Parizaad got by her said a great deal about how much Annie’s mother treasured whatever mattered to her daughter. Some of the dialogues tonight suggested that Parizaad might give Annie the gift of eyesight. I was wondering when and if ever that happens, will Annie still have the same reverence for him as she does now? Annie’s track it seems is going to be the real game-changer in the story. She is either going to be the one who will give Parizaad all the love and validation he has longed for his entire life or she will be the most bitter rejection Parizaad has faced till now. I find this track quite interesting because there are endless possibilities. Yumna Zaidi and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s on-screen chemistry is an additional plus. Parizaad, it seems, is falling in love yet again even though he keeps on reminding himself that he is not worth loving! Annie gives him the kind of unconditional acceptance which he had never imagined that he will get.

Parizaad Episode 22 Story Review – Meaningful & Engaging

Parizaad and Annie have so much in common. Apart from the obvious fact that both of them have names that are ‘meaningful’ in a different way. Parizaad is definitely not beautiful like a fairy and Annie is not blessed with the gift of eyesight. Apart from that, both of them are really good with words. They also have a special kind of love for books and reading. Therefore, their attraction towards each other is more meaningful. Parizaad perhaps is attracted to Annie because of his vibrant personality as well since that is something he seriously lacks.

The conversations between Parizaad and Akbar, their scenes together, showed a completely different side of Pari. As he said, he was not afraid of dying but he also wanted to live! This dialogue suggested that Annie had perhaps given him a reason to live. He also gave Seth Shehbaz a dhamki which you would only accept from a businessman who knows how to look out for himself! I am enjoying watching all these different shades to Parizaad’s personality.

Naheed was so sure that Parizaad will accept her proposal immediately therefore his detailed and unexpected response left her speechless. Parizaad literally told her off in the most polite manner possible. He never held back while sharing his views and this time around he truly nailed it. He covered every single aspect of this proposal and his ‘relationship’ with Naheed so far. The reason for Majid’s attitude towards Naheed was also elaborated today. Naheed is clearly not just greedy but also manipulative. When nothing else worked, she tried to make Parizaad feel sorry for her. Ushna Shah’s convincing performance made this scene a treat to watch. It was also interesting watching him give Naheed a lecture on self-worth!

Final Remarks

Although I absolutely loved all the scenes in this episode and the acting was impeccable, I miss watching Saeeda on screen. Lubna is also out of the picture suddenly. Also, I am wondering if Parizaad will meet Nasaaz at some point. This was definitely another phenomenal episode of a drama that continues to impress.

Parizaad Episode 21 Story Review – Realizations

This was another interesting episode of Parizaad which started a new chapter in Parizaad’s life. It was yet another episode with well-written, meaningful conversations. Each scene reflected the fact that even though Parizaad’s status had altered completely, he had not forgotten his past. He was playing PZ’s ‘role’ well but deep inside he was still the same person who was sensitive, giving, and felt unworthy of love. The most important element of this episode was the way the writer showed that while Parizaad’s new status had won him a lot of acceptance from the outside world, he was still struggling to accept himself!

After facing so much rejection in his life, Parizaad is still as convinced as ever that he is not worth loving. So many of the dialogues we heard in the previous episodes synced in so well with Parizaad and Annie’s present situation. The dialogues from the past, “insan ka dusra aur asal tarruf us ke alfaz hote hein” and “kaash jin se hum mohabbat krte wo bhi andhe hote” were two such dialogues that fit in this situation perfectly! Annie and Parizaad’s track already has my attention; Pari is falling in love yet again and this time around the person he is falling for cannot see his ‘shortcomings’! I absolutely love how the story flows even after all these weeks and the fact that there are some aspects of Parizaad’s personality that can easily be labeled as imperfect. His imperfections make this character and its journey easier to connect to.

Realizations

Tonight’s episode opened with Parizaad meeting a young boy who clearly reminded him of the person he was at that age. He understood the challenges faced by this boy instantly and did whatever he could to make a difference. Parizaad did not have someone to look out for him when he was young but he was lucky enough to have mentors who did not just teach him the ways of the world but also helped him ‘survive’. Therefore, no one can understand the importance of a mentor better than Parizaad! It was also good to see Parizaad expressing his regret over not continuing his studies. Even though he is rich, he understands the importance of education and would not want to give the wrong message.

Parizaad’s instant connection with Annie was visible right from the start. Tonight, Annie got a chance to tell him just how much she valued him more than once. Annie is a vivacious young girl who believes in speaking her mind. She is also one of those fans who do not give up no matter what! Yumna Zaidi breathed life into this character and made sure that the viewers did not feel for Annie but in fact, had multiple reasons to fall in love with her confidence. While Parizaad still lacks confidence, Annie has so much of it that hopefully, she will be able to make Parizaad believe that he indeed deserves to be loved!

Parizaad Episode 21 Story Review – Realizations

Parizaad always in some way reveals how his life has shaped up based on his past experiences whenever he talks to Kamali. Tonight, in a way he thanked all those people who had rejected him since they were the ones who shaped him into the person he is today. Parizaad was always fearless therefore it did not come as a surprise that he could not care less about the opposition against him. However, his policies as a businessman leave a lot to be desired, they also show that he is not interested in making more money. He always wanted all this money but he is not going to let it dictate to him in any way. He is also still frightened of people – getting too close to them! That is why he prefers to be alone and was afraid of falling for Annie. For someone who has faced so much rejection, this comes across as the perfect defense mechanism.

Kanwal and Naheed’s conversation showed that Naheed wanted the kind of love and attention from Parizaad which she never got from her own husband. A big reason was also Pari’s wealth! Had he been the same old young man, she would not have been attracted to him. Naheed is so sure that Parizaad is still in love with her. However, I feel that Parizaad does not love Naheed anymore. The mirror scene was one of my favorite tonight; it was actually enlightening as well! I never thought that Pari felt attracted towards Bubbly or even Lubna. It also went to show that he was scared of feeling that way about anyone at all now because he did not want yet another heartbreak. The confusion regarding Annie was also an interesting one. This was such a remarkable way of showing the viewers that Pari was still as conscious about his looks as he was before. The realization that Annie did not even know what he looked like was the turning point of this track and it immediately reminded me of the dialogues I mentioned in the beginning. The disbelief with which Parizaad looked at Annie when he realized the truth was the highlight of this episode.

Final Remarks

Ahmed Ali Akbar is an exceptional actor who has made sure throughout that every emotion is reflected convincingly on screen. This journey would not have been the same without his phenomenal performance. Hashim Nadeem deserves tons of credit for penning down an exceptional story and Shehzad Kashmiri for making sure that the writing does not get lost in translation. Will Annie make Parizaad believe in himself? Or is this track going to end with heartbreak? I am waiting to find out.

Parizaad Episode 20 Story Review – Meaningful Entertainment

Tonight’s episode focused on Parizaad’s gradual transformation; in this latest episode, we saw less of the Parizaad we once knew. Gradually he is getting more comfortable in this new role and making the most of the opportunity he has been given in a way that only Parizaad could have done. He continues to be his older version when he is interacting with people from his past but there is definitely newfound confidence. This episode also once again showed how readily he was getting acceptance even from Naheed, this time around! Parizaad’s meeting with Naheed towards the end of the episode was definitely one scene that stood out more than others. The fact that even his university invited him as a guest of honor went to prove that because of his money and might he was welcome and respected in an educational institution even though he did not complete his education. There are so many such examples of accomplished businessmen in real life who did not complete their studies but managed to make it big in their respective fields and are considered icons. Parizaad’s story is definitely different but in his case too education was definitely not the yardstick.

Yumna Zaidi’s character formally made an entry in the drama with this episode. We ‘heard’ her recite Parizaad’s poetry before as well but tonight her character was properly revealed. There were a lot of scenes tonight that did suggest that Parizaad was not content with his life. Now more than ever, he had realized that money and status in fact were the two most powerful things in terms of gaining the approval of the masses. The only scene tonight which confused me was the one in which Parizaad refused to cooperate with Seth because he did not want to compromise on his maalik’s principles. Behroze Karim was an underworld don therefore it is difficult to connect to these moral principles which were linked with him since dons do strive on drug trafficking! This part of tonight’s episode was flawed and confusing.

Old Friends & New Acquaintances

Tonight’s episode opened with Parizaad canceling yet another meeting to meet an old friend! Even though he has a big business to run, Parizaad has not been trying enough to retain or increase his wealth. He takes his business rather casually and all those people from his past who he wants to be with or help are definitely a priority. This basically goes to show that even though becoming rich was his ultimate objective at one time, he is not scared of losing and sharing his wealth. His meeting with his old ustad was penned down well since the outcome was surprising. The way this scene started suggested as if Pari actually was there to hold his ustaad accountable. Yet again, he decided to help an old friend out and this time around Kamali questioned him since he has been observing how generously Parizaad has been spending his money. Parizaad’s silence and that deep breath he took when he was questioned about how it felt to be this rich said a great deal about his true feelings at this point. He was definitely not happy with his life and was perhaps still trying to figure out if this ultimate goal was worth it or not.

Parizaad Episode 20 Story Review – Meaningful Entertainment

It was good to see Kanwal back in the picture. Although she did not get a lot of screen time earlier she always came across as a pleasant and positive individual. She was the only one outside of Parizaad’s family who had complete faith in him. She had also warned Naheed that she will someday pay for what she had done to Parizaad. It was great watching her witness Naheed flirting with Parizaad even though Majid quite clearly disliked him more than ever before. Naheed did turn out to be an opportunist and hopefully now Parizaad can see that he did not lose much. His dialogues when Naheed asked him to meet her somewhere also suggested that he no longer felt the same attraction towards her which he did before. Even though Naheed is married, she feels that she can somehow start afresh with Parizaad. Not being able to win Naheed over and being treated like a lesser human by her was one of those things that made Parizaad feel useless and unworthy of love. The last scene showed that he understood the reason for Naheed’s sudden interest in him a little too well! It is good to see Parizaad being the sensible and grounded person he was before even with his present status even though outwardly he has changed a lot.

Annie and Parizaad’s track is a completely different story altogether. Her only introduction to Parizaad is his poetry. She is fascinated by the person who penned down those poetic verses but Pari is convinced that he left that person far behind. Parizaad also felt an instant connection to her even though he only heard her recite his poetry a few times. Tonight, Annie finally got to see Parizaad in person and did not hold back while showing her admiration for him. Yumna Zaidi looked great in this episode and it seems as if Annie’s role will be an interesting addition to the list of characters she has played over the years. We have all seen Yumna Zaidi and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s on-screen chemistry in Yeh Raha Dil therefore there is reason to be excited about what these two will have to offer in the upcoming episodes. For the first time, Parizaad will be interacting with someone from the opposite gender who finds him attractive in a ‘non-visual’ way.

Final Remarks

The Seth and Annie’s entry in the story will definitely change the course of Parizaad’s track in different ways. While watching tonight’s episode I wasn’t sure if enough happened but when I sat down to write this review, I realized that once again the writer managed to cover so many different aspects of Pari’s life and transformation in this episode. Ahmed Ali Akbar continues to be remarkable. Will Parizaad meet Naheed on her request? I am also looking forward to Annie’s interview with Parizaad. I am certain the friend who has always been with him must be his loneliness! Will this loneliness chase him right till the end?

Parizaad Episode 2 Story Review – Thoroughly Entertaining

This second episode of Parizaad was much more interesting than the first one. It was wholesome and ended too soon. The last scene came as a complete surprise! The director deserves tons of credit for doing justice to the screenplay by ensuring that nothing goes unnoticed. It was difficult to predict where everything was leading therefore the element of intrigue as well as where it ultimately lead promised that Parizaad will have a lot of surprises in store. The artsy feel of the drama coupled with an unusual storyline continues to be its main attraction. After watching this episode, I am even more eagerly looking forward to the next installment. The performances were just as impressive as the execution which made this episode an absolute treat to watch.

Surprising Turn

Tonight’s episode opened with the entire mohalla turning up on Parizaad’s doorstep and ultimately he faced the worst humiliation. His reaction to all this was the best part of this episode. He was angry and at the same time contained because he wanted to protect Naheed more than anything else. Even though he is clearly attracted towards Naheed, he listened to Shoka and decided to follow Naheed! This went to show that he was not a fool. I am glad that the writer has not shown him as a bechara. There were times tonight when I felt that he might have a dark side to him as well. There is definitely a lot of pent-up anger, a likeness for Naheed and the fact that his beloved sister likes Majid. Also, the fact that Naheed also used him for her advantage and hurt his feelings gives him enough motives to do something completely unexpected.

Parizaad Episode 2 Story Review – Thoroughly Entertaining

The personalities of all the characters and their relationships with each other were established well in this episode. The first episode only gave a few hints and everything was shown with much more clarity tonight. Parizaad’s brothers did not give him a chance to explain himself, his bhabhis were eager to see him getting ridiculed. His sister is the only person who had faith in him and even Naheed’s mother and sister trusted him more than his immediate family. There were some scenes in the first episode that indicated that Naheed had a colorful personality but even then her secret relationship with Majid came as a complete surprise. Majid seemed like a plain character but that is definitely not the case! He goes around preaching to others and has an outward appearance that is completely different from his actual personality. Just like Naheed he has a reputation of being a ‘sharif’ person who won’t go against the norms of the society but that is only a façade. That’s why Parizaad was completely shocked, he was following Naheed because he doubted her but he never expected to see Majid there with her. Naheed also made it quite clear that she was simply using Parizaad to cover up for herself and that no one would ever doubt him since everyone knows she would never be involved with someone like him. This particular aspect of people’s opinion about Parizaad has been repeatedly been shown, I am guessing there must be a reason why the viewers are being shown such scenarios multiple times.

Everything from Parizaad’s brothers’ outrage to his sister’s support for him was shown so impactfully on screen. All of Naheed’s sister’s questioning made sense and also the fact that Shoki ran away instead of talking to Naheed. It wasn’t just the fact that Naheed screamed but the actual reason was that she was not alone there. That also explains why she is so fond of studying on the rooftop.

Parizaad Episode 2 Story Review – Thoroughly Entertaining

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode was picture perfect; the script and the execution both were on point. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance and Parizaad’s character have been the highlight of this first episode. Through this role and the way Ahmed Ali Akbar has translated it on screen; he has shown his versatility and range as an actor. In every single scene, his reactions won me over completely. The background music and cinematography were yet again used intelligently to add more substance and meaning to every scene. I loved how Parizaad mentioned his “dil” (feelings) in the last scene and just like always they were brushed under the carpet! Everyone thinks he is incapable of feeling anything at all because of the way he looks. So far the writer has managed to put forward a relevant message – it is wrong to dismiss and discredit a person because they do not come up to the beauty standards of society. The overall treatment given to the drama definitely adds to its appeal. The premise of the story and the characters so far are not run of the mill either which is always a big plus for any drama. After watching this episode, I am more excited about Parizaad than I was after watching the first episode.

Parizaad Episode 19 Story Review – The Journey Continues

“Jis ne paya us ne paa kar matti kr diya aur jis ne nahi paya wo khud khaak mein mil gaya”. This was another episode of Parizaad that covered Pari’s reunion with all those people who were once a permanent part of his life. Every single meeting and scene was an absolute treat to watch. The conversations were penned down beautifully and executed just as well. However, I did feel that another short flashback scene, especially when the bhabis were offering Pari to stay, would have fit in so perfectly! This is definitely not the kind of ‘happy ending’ which Pari had imagined! He is enjoying his wealth, doing what he does the most – helping others – but he is still searching. The writer through his journey is putting forward an important message that while money does get you acceptance, it does not guarantee inner peace and contentment.

Parizaad always helped people he loved even when he did not have money. The big difference now is that he has more resources. Parizaad’s journey continues to have my undivided attention; it is meaningful and easy to connect to. There were so many scenes tonight that should definitely be re-watched. The flashback scene in this episode yet again made the changes in Parizaad’s life more obvious than ever. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance has been beyond impressive throughout and his makeover has been just as convincing. When you watch the flashback scenes, you can’t help but appreciate the way the makeover artists have transformed Parizaad in the most believable manner.

Acceptance & Apologies

Parizaad’s meetings with everyone he met from his past tonight can be easily summed up as a series of acceptance and apologies. Apart from Saeeda, everyone Pari met had failed to accept him in the past. Lubna’s mother was right when she said that money does cover your flaws even though Pari did not have any ‘flaws’ in his personality to begin with! Now that he was wealthy, all these people were not only willing to welcome him with open arms but were also more than willing to accept the mistakes they had made in the past. There were some who had truly realized that they were wrong such as Shoki and Naheed’s fathers. I must say that the writer and the director have made sure that the viewers pick up minor nuances in Parizaad’s character. For example, it was quite evident that Parizaad was still the same person even with all his wealth especially when he was around family and tonight his brother-in-law said just that out loud. His meeting with Saeeda also showed that even though Pari was so influential there were some things he had no control over. He could not visit his sister often or stay somewhere near to her.

Parizaad Episode 19 Story Review – The Journey Continues

Parizaad also visited the room where he once used to dream about the life he is living now! In the past, he cried in that room more than once thinking about all the times he was rejected by the one girl he ever fell in love with. This is where he wrote all his poetry and was free to express himself without any pressure from the outside world. This was such a beautiful scene since it was each one of us going through our old belongings and thinking about the good and bad times which shape us to be the individuals we are at present.

The scene at the antique shop was another meaningful and impactful scene in this episode. The dialogue I quoted on top was definitely one that immediately made me think! Getting what you wish for can most often lessen the importance of whatever is it that you desire. That is exactly what is happening with Pari right now too. He dreamed of making it big one day yet he is just as lost and lonely right now as he was when he was running after his dream. And had he not achieved this status, he would have worked hard all his life to attain it! This was the kind of dialogue that stays with you for a long time, beautifully penned down and delivered! The outcome of this meeting yet again showed how Parizaad always finds a way to get what he desires! However, he continued to be restless, perhaps wondering if he would ever find contentment in life. He can easily be termed as someone who has been striving and searching for acceptance all his life yet somehow he does not really enjoy the attention he gets because of his wealth.

Parizaad and Naheed’s meeting did not go as I imagined it would. There was no acceptance or apology as such but more like closure perhaps for Parizaad! Even though Naheed’s life had changed completely, her overall body language was still the same. Also, the floor was a little too clean when she was sweeping it! This scene could have been far more realistic if Ushna Shah looked more worn out considering her circumstances.

Final Remarks

This was another beautifully written and for the most part well-executed episode of Parizaad. Pari’s restlessness and confusion stood out more than anything else in this episode. I am waiting for Yumna’s character to make an appearance; will that be the turning point in Pari’s life? He got the acceptance he always wanted yet he is not at peace. Will he find love? The antique shop owner made it clear that sometimes ‘wants’ are endless therefore it could mean that restlessness might be a permanent part of Parizaad’s journey.

Parizaad Episode 18 Story Review – Meaningful Reunions

This was yet another beautifully penned-down episode of Parizaad which was not flawless but it was engaging throughout. It is interesting how far this character has come and in the most unexpected manner! The script of this drama is not just different but also meaningful which makes it one of my favorite dramas. I think Hashim Nadeem shows character development exceptionally well which is why it is always easy to connect to his leading characters in particular no matter how ‘bizarre’ their journeys might turn out to be! Parizaad met many people from his past in this episode – some by chance and others by design. These meetings gave the viewers a chance to witness the Parizaad we knew once because he is an entirely different person around his staff. The only part which did not work for me was that Parizaad had never even seen Lubna’s picture or heard about her. The timeline in the drama is also sometimes confusing. I find myself doing the math but there is definitely some confusion in every other episode. The dialogues and conversations are almost always impressive.

Watching Parizaad put his foot down wherever it was needed was the best part of his transformation – I found myself saying ‘Parizaad not coming slow’ more than once! My favorite scene from this episode had to be the flashback scene when Parizaad’s brother told him how much faith he had in him! Parizaad continues to learn as he moves forward in his life and I am really enjoying watching how meaningful all these lessons are!

The Reunions

Tonight’s episode opened with Parizaad’s chance meeting with Lubna who also has a new identity now but is the same person as she was before, just like her friend Parizaad! It was interesting just how similar their situations were in a way but this time around Parizaad definitely had an edge. Lubna was one of those few people who saw the beauty in Parizaad even when no one was willing to accept him because of his looks and financial status. I still remember her dialogues when Parizaad uttered those lines about blind love. This was another one of those scenes that reminded me of Raqs-e-Bismil. Although the overall circumstances were different the setting was somewhat the same as Moosa’s chance meeting with Zohra at the party where both of them met in the most unusual circumstances. However, it is quite evident that Pari was never in love with Lubna but she is another one of those friends who he will go out of his way to help now that he has the financial resources and a higher status. I loved how Pari told Seth Rehman off for using a woman to achieve his objectives. Later on, he also made sure that Kamali did not get away with it as well. He definitely has newfound confidence which comes with the status he now enjoys.

Parizaad Episode 18 Story Review – Meaningful Reunions

It was interesting how Parizaad’s body language change depending on who he was with. Lubna’s mother’s flashback scene was used intelligently to make the viewers wonder what Parizaad’s next move was going to be. Lubna’s mother’s expressions when she realized who P.Z. Mir was actually Parizaad! The expressions on Parizaad’s face were priceless as well. I am waiting to see what he intends to do for Lubna now that he has so many resources.

People’s attitudes surely have changed a lot now that Parizaad is rich! The way his brothers welcomed him and were trying so hard to win him over was only because of his financial status. Their conversations also suggested that Parizaad had been sending them money and that is how they managed to live more comfortably. This came as a complete surprise since they were completely out of the picture for so long and their reaction when they found out that Parizaad had been arrested also suggested that they didn’t benefit from his earnings in any way. I am still hoping that Parizaad is not too generous with them since they don’t deserve it. We were all eagerly looking forward to Parizaad’s meeting with Saeeda but that came at the very end. This last scene was beautifully acted out since we got to see the same old Pari with a smile that was genuine yet awkward. Saeeda is such a likable character and her relationship with her brother has always been the most endearing element of this track. Yumna’s character was also introduced partially in this episode, Parizaad was instantly attracted to this person since she recited his poem and was clearly a big fan! Will he be meeting her next?

Final Remarks

Apart from a script that is full of surprises and dialogues that always impress, the performances in this drama have been exceptional throughout. Ahmed Ali Akbar impressed me tonight more than ever because there were some parts of his past life that he had to retain and others that really were a thing of the past. Mashal Khan has also been quite convincing and likable in this role. Parizaad’s brothers are definitely hiding something; I hope there was a good reason why their discussions got so much screen time. It is almost as if Parizaad is still trying to figure out how he wants to manage his new status and life. I am extremely interested in finding out where his journey is headed. He has the money now, will he get true love?

Parizaad Episode 17 Story Review – Dreams Come True

This was hands down the best episode of Parizaad; it was fast-paced, emotional, and exciting. What started off as a grim episode which made me wonder where the story was headed, ended up being another outstanding episode of a drama that continues to intrigue and engage. Last week I was wondering if Parizaad would be comfortable with all the material gains and tonight we saw a massive transformation! Tonight, it was revealed why so many weeks were dedicated to this particular track. Although every character Parizaad has met so far has left its mark on his life, Behroze Karim’s track was definitely a game-changer. We saw a completely different side to Parizaad’s personality tonight. His interactions with his staff and immediate acceptance of his new status suggested that he was beyond ready for this new life.

The way this transformation was shown was once again not just convincing but also completely wholesome. I have noticed that Hashim Nadeem literally keeps you guessing and on the edge! Every week my views, impressions and opinions about the characters change in a way I could not even have imagined! I absolutely loved how meaningfully this drastic change in Pari’s life was shown. In one of the scenes, it seemed as if he was replicating Behroze Karim’s expressions. From Parizaad’s name to all his big and small yearnings were beautifully integrated into the script tonight. The director definitely gave this episode the right treatment which made every little detail come alive on screen. After a long time, the complete focus was on Parizaad, and rightly so!

The Ups and Downs

Tonight’s episode opened by showing a few changes in Parizaad which were quite unexpected. For the first time, Parizaad was hopeless and he started smoking as well! His smoking scenes reminded me of Nasaaz. The poetry in this episode and the emotional goodbye scene when Feroze was being taken away also reminded me of the time when Nasaaz left Parizaad on his own. Feroze was yet another person in Pari’s life who was a mentor and who had faith that Pari will be able to go on without him. Leaving another such person behind added to all the sacrifices Pari has made and all the heartaches he has endured on this journey. This time around too he did bounce back. He took the help of books and even though these scenes showing the time Pari spent in jail were shown in a few minutes, they were reflective of the changes in his personality. It was as if he was getting ready to take charge even though he did not appear to be too excited about it when he talked to Feroze. Was he preparing to learn everything Behroze had learned by reading these books? Or was this his way of showering his maalik with affection even though he was no longer alive? I felt it was both! It was also good to see Pari going back to reading books, these scenes reminded me of the person we saw in the first few episodes. Pari’s family was also back in the picture tonight. I am eagerly waiting to find out how he treats them now and how they react once they find out how rich he is now. I hope he is not too generous!

Parizaad Episode 17 Story Review – Dreams Come True

New Life

Parizaad’s expressions and antics changed as he spent time in the prison. He was no longer the person who didn’t know the ways of the world. However, his basic nature stayed the same as was evident from the scenes with Akbar and Janu. I was expecting Parizaad to react awkwardly or uncomfortable to the treatment he was being given when he left the prison. That was not the case; he immediately accepted this new position and let these people know what he wanted from them. Also, he told Kamali off right in the beginning, telling him that he was in charge! The scene covering Parizaad’s entry into Behroze’s house this time around as the maalik were superb. It showed that he was absorbing every little emotion when he walked in there. Even with all this money and his new status, he still had a certain set of values which is why he gave Akbar the respect he promised Feroze he will give. Also, he did not leave his old friend behind. This scene with Janu would have been even more powerful, had we not watched his wife talking about Parizaad as if he was not the least bit important, in one of the previous episodes. The fact that Janu refused to work with Pari went to show that even with all the riches, Pari could not have the people he wanted should be in his life. However, watching him boss all these people around and watching Kamali, in particular, trying his best to please Pari, reminded me of Lubna’s mother’s partying dialogues which changed the way Pari perceived his life’s goals.

Parizaad’s name has always been an important part of his journey. The writer has done a fantastic job of ensuring that this name is used in a meaningful manner at every step of his journey. This time, when he had to rename the enterprise he was going to run, he decided not to use his name! This went to show that even now, he was not comfortable with his name. He also decided to spend more time alone even though he wanted wealth in order to get acceptance from others. Will Parizaad actually fit in, in this new lifestyle?

Final Remarks

With this episode of Parizaad, the main protagonist’s journey is yet again on a new path. Tonight’s episode was beautifully written and executed. This drama continues to be meaningful and engaging, which is a rare combination. Apart from Ahmed Ali Akbar, who nails every single scene effortlessly every week, Iftikhar Iffi stood out as Kamali, he is such a phenomenal actor. Saad Azhar is another actor who always leaves a lasting impression. He made Feroze’s last few scenes truly memorable. The actor playing Akbar also had a definite screen presence in this episode. I am waiting to see Parizaad and Saeeda’s reunion more than anything else. I am also waiting to see how Pari handles all this wealth and where his life goes from here. There is so much to look forward to. This new beginning added more excitement to the story. Can money buy happiness? I am waiting to find out!

Parizaad Episode 16 Story Review – The End

Behroze Karim’s track finally ended tonight; this had to be the only sidetrack that lasted for so many weeks and got more screen time than any other. It was also the most unpredictable one with plenty of twists and turns, some of which were actually shocking! It will be interesting to see how this experience alters the course of Parizaad’s life. Noman Ijaz was brilliant in this role and honestly speaking it was upsetting watching him take his life in the end. Even though Parizaad almost always manages to ‘shock’ me since every episode has something or the other which I could not have anticipated even if I thought out of the box, it always manages to entertain. I make sure I keep an open mind while watching this drama and enjoy the ride since it is well established by now that Parizaad’s story can take any unexpected turn at all.

Even though I do not feel the same way about Parizaad (the character) as I did before because he has been so ‘adventurous’, I am still interested in his story. There are too many instances when I feel that Parizaad is not looking out for himself, as I mentioned in my previous review, and that can be frustrating for a viewer who is rooting for him. But then, that also goes to show the kind of connection I have with the main lead which signifies the real success of the drama.

Goodbye Behroze Karim

Parizaad is clearly more loyal to everyone who has ever helped him even a little than he is to himself. Tonight, he took the blame for the murder in order to save his maalik. This was somewhat expected since the promo of this episode suggested that he will do something extraordinary to save Behroze. For so many weeks, the viewers had been watching Behroze Karim’s depressive state of mind but he also surprised us more than once! This was yet another character played by the enormously talented Noman Ijaz which kept the viewers guessing! Behroze clearly planned to end his life which is why he made sure his will stated who will be inheriting his wealth. Parizaad proved his loyalty in such a way that Behroze must have left him with something worthwhile. Does that mean Parizaad is finally going to get rich? I cannot imagine Parizaad being comfortable with wealth but then we have seen so much which was beyond our imagination!

Parizaad Episode 16 Story Review – The End

Behroze Karim’s character was penned down magically. He exuded charm because of the way his dialogues were written and obviously, the credit for that goes to Noman Ijaz as well. Behroze decided to have the final laugh and Badar did not get exactly what she wanted. I absolutely loved Nadia Afgan’s performance in this episode. When Behroze praises his dead wife’s handwriting, her expressions were priceless! The writer finely added this particular track in the story and showed the challenges women face especially when they take up professions dominated by men. It reminded me of the difficulties Noor from Aakhir Kab Tak faced when she started running her father’s business. The big difference here was that Badar saved herself on her own, entirely! It was really good watching the colleague who mocked her acknowledging and appreciating her. Her confidence and everything else about her gave hope that we will see more such female characters in dramas in the future as well.

Even though this particular track got so much screen time and I wanted Parizaad’s story to move to the next phase, I am going to miss all these well-written and beautifully acted out characters. At the same time, I am looking forward to what is in store next for Parizaad. It seems as if he will never put himself first. Will he find someone who loves him the way he has always wished to be loved?

Final Remarks

Parizaad continues to be a beautifully penned-down drama with quite a few exceptional characters as well as performances. All the characters are layered; even Behroze’s character had a good side to him! It has also been directed and shot superbly. The funeral scene in tonight’s episode was one of the best; beautifully shot. Also, even though Parizaad has made so many questionable decisions, he has also won the love and respect of people around him as a consequence. ‘Loyalty’ had to be the main theme of this particular track since not only did Pari prove his loyalty, he also won some loyal friends. Behroze Karim’s final words had to be the highlight of this episode. This scene was written down and executed so powerfully. The actors playing supporting roles also made their presence felt once again in this episode. I would especially like to mention Saad Azhar here, who has been brilliant as Feroze. I am looking forward to meeting new characters as Pari’s journey continues and cannot appreciate the writer enough for giving us a drama that is not only different but also entertaining and meaningful.

Will you miss these characters? Am I the only one who was saddened by Behroze Karim’s tragic ending? Share your views.

Parizaad Episode 15 Story Review – Unpredictable & Emotional

Tonight’s episode of Parizaad focused more on Bubbly reuniting with her family in the first half and Parizaad putting his life on the line yet again for someone else. The kind and sensitive side of Parizaad’s personality was always apparent but as the story is progressing forward it seems as if he lives only to please others. As a viewer who is completely in love with this character, I feel that Parizaad does not consider himself a priority! The meaningful and well-written dialogues always manage to make Parizaad an absolute treat to watch. While Ahmed Ali Akbar always impresses, tonight Saboor Aly and Noman Ijaz were beyond amazing. Saboor’s expressions when she tries to toughen up were outstanding.

The amazing camera work definitely adds to the impact different scenes have since the director makes sure that all the expressions are captured. Noman Ijaz is exceptional as Behroze Karim; a man who does not show all his cards and always surprises. Even though the story is not going in the direction I imagined, Parizaad’s script and its execution set it apart from the crowd. The performances also make all the difference. I feel for Parizaad, understand his need to please, and find myself rooting for him.

Putting Others First

Parizaad set out on a journey to get acceptance and hopefully love. Initially, his main purpose was to earn money and when this journey started there were times when I felt that he might do something against his nature or principles for monetary gains. However, one thing is well established by now, Parizaad’s basic nature will remain the same no matter what! He has not been able to compromise on his principles at all; in fact, he has not even tried. As someone who always followed his heart, Parizaad continues to do just that. Perhaps that is the reason why he has met many people along the way who value relationships more than financial gains. Even though we were never told or shown how and why Behroze Karim started trusting him so much, it seems as if he made the right decision by not giving up on him.

Parizaad Episode 15 Story Review – Unpredictable & Emotional

Tonight’s episode opened with Parizaad setting out on a journey to find Bubbly’s parents. The reunion and the conversations were written beautifully. The writer highlighted the gender identity crisis and the resulting issues in the previous episode as well; in this episode, he did a splendid job by letting the viewers hear all the possible perspectives. This conversation highlighted Bubbly and his parents’ challenges in such a way that I was completely in awe. A father’s apology, a mother’s regret but most of all a family’s acceptance of a child they always loved but did not have the courage to accept. This was such a heart-warming development tonight and even though this did not affect Parizaad’s journey directly, it highlighted such an important social issue in the most impactful manner.

The Investigation

Badar Munir managed to do exactly what she had promised and this track was also taken forward intelligently while keeping viewers at the edge of their seats. When Badar Munir announced that she had the arrest warrants, the viewers were just surprised as her when Behroze calmly presented the bail orders! Even though earlier it seemed as if he really did not care about the consequences! Parizaad entered right at the time when Badar was there, Behroze’s remarks made me laugh! He really did not want him there. The preview of the next episode suggested that Parizaad has a plan and he will do something that will change the course of this particular track. I am waiting to find out what that is going to be!

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Parizaad was all about self-sacrifice, love, and loyalty. The emotional element of the drama continues to be on point. This is one of those few dramas in which the close-ups are used intelligently throughout. The close-up of Guru ji crying when Bubbly went away with her family was the best tonight. Parizaad has an interesting feel to it, overall. I was not too keen on watching the investigation get so much screen time but tonight I enjoyed that particular part of the episode as well. It gave this episode a thriller kind of a feel. I am eagerly looking forward to the upcoming episode.

Parizaad Episode 14 Story Review – Gender Identity & Discrimination

Parizaad’s story is moving forward at a steady pace and the drama highlights different social issues as it progresses. It has moved from focusing entirely on Parizaad to adding characters that have completely different stories to tell. Tonight’s episode highlighted an issue that is rarely taken up by writers i.e. gender identity. It also showed quite convincingly how a woman has to work twice as much to get an acceptance! The performances continue to be impressive. On the one hand, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Saboor Aly impress you with their faultless portrayals and on the other hand, Nauman Ijaz manages to make his presence felt effortlessly. He is such a remarkable actor who literally becomes the characters he plays on screen and he can make you love or hate these characters with the utmost ease! What a brilliant performer!

Bubbly and Parizaad’s scenes were the highlight of this episode; they have the kind of connection which is both rare and heart-warming. Apart from the hairpiece, Saboor Aly was seen wearing in this episode, everything about this track was on point.

Parizaad and Raqs-e-Bismil

I have always felt that there have always been certain similarities between Parizaad and Raqs-e-Bismil. So far, these similarities were definitely the strength of both the shows. As the story is progressing there is a vacuum in this story as well just as there was in Raqs-e-Bismil. When Moosa left his family, he also ‘fixed’ everyone’s problems and was clearly a really loving and sensitive person yet he was never shown missing his family! The same is the case with Parizaad, now that he is on this new journey, his family, especially his sister who was the closest to him has disappeared into thin air!! It is highly unconvincing how these compassionate heroes just leave people they love behind and never look back! The writer should have kept Parizaad’s family in the picture. Few conversations with Saeeda every now and then would have helped connect with the journey and would have added to the flow of this track. Also, in so many episodes the bhabhis were given excessive screen time and we were left wondering why that was the case. As it turns out there wasn’t an actual reason for showing their repetitive scenes! Although I love Badar Munir’s character and Nadia Afghan’s performance, I feel that she is also being given more screen time than is necessary. This investigation should be wrapped up soon because it has been given more screen time than any other newly introduced track.

Hashim Nadeem tends to leave some of the characters and relationships he makes the viewers fall in love with which I feel is a big weakness. He did the same with Esa/Moosa relationship in Raqs-e-Bismil! Although Parizaad is still on track, I have a bad feeling that it might go the Raqs-e-Bismil way very soon! ‘

Important Developments

Even though Parizaad set out on a journey to earn money but so far he is on a mission to help others out. He tried to help Laila and got into trouble, he helped his friend Janu and now his priority is to help Bubbly out in whichever way he can. He is someone who lives for others and he derives happiness from doing so. There are times when this character seems too good to be true but the dialogues are so well written and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance is so impressive that you can’t help but root for Parizaad. His conversations with the Guru made the Guru change his perspective about things. He also made Bubbly realize that she had been selfish and she needed to get in touch with her parents. These conversations were penned down beautifully. Parizaad is gifted because he is not just intelligent but he also knows how to speak his mind in such a way that it leaves an impact on others. He is on a mission now and I am looking forward to Bubbly’s reunion with her parents. The entire discussion about the gender identity crisis was also penned down sensitively. It is good to see this issue being addressed in such a manner.

Parizaad Episode 14 Story Review – Gender Identity & Discrimination

Badar Munir got a lot of screen time in this episode. Through this track, the writer highlighted the problems women face at the workplace. Aakhir Kab Tak highlighted this issue as well therefore it is good to see another drama showing the difficulties women face but they are rarely shown in dramas. Badar Munir was however undeterred even after all the rejection and just like the protagonist she was more eager than ever to find her way through this. She also thought that Parizaad and she had something in common – as this track is progressing it seems they have more in common than their unusual names! Badar’s meeting with Behroze Karim was another surprise tonight since it seemed as if Behroze had given up and might not be able to cover up for himself. However, he was more than ready for this meeting. He did not only put the kind of pressure which could have cost her more than she bargained for but he also tried his best to impress her away with his charm! I cannot praise Nauman Ijaz enough for making sure that every single scene counts and leaves an impact.

Final Remarks

Parizaad continues to be entertaining and it will even more engaging if some of the sidetracks are not given excessive screen time. The preview of the next episode suggested that Badar Munir will perhaps be able to get a witness against Behroze. I am wondering if he will get arrested and if he does then what will be Parizaad’s fate? I am waiting to find out.

Parizaad Episode 13 Story Review – Seeking Validation

Parizaad’s journey continues to be filled with new experiences, few weeks back it was impossible to imagine Parizaad living this life. It was definitely pleasing seeing a familiar face from the past. It was also a reminder of how uncomplicated Pari’s life was back then! Even after all these weeks, new characters are introduced in every episode and each character has a backstory different from the others. Tonight’s episode focused on Bubbly’s (now Dilawar) reunion with Parizaad and it also established the Guru’s character.

Saboor Aly and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s outstanding performances coupled with the most beautiful cinematography made this episode an absolute treat to watch. The scene in which Ahmed Ali Akbar yawned was perhaps the best display of unrestrained and realistic acting. This drama continues to surprise me every week. I must say that at times it takes time to warm up to the new circumstances and characters. Although the pace of the drama is not fast, there is a lot going on and every character brings with it a completely different track. The special treatment Parizaad has been getting from Behroze is at times difficult to relate to since he failed the first assignment given to him by trusting everything he was told.

The Reunion

Who could have thought that Parizaad would meet Bubbly in a place such as the Guru’s dera. I am glad that this reunion came as a complete surprise and there were no spoilers in the preview of this episode. Behroze decided to send Parizaad away so that he could be safe and perhaps also because he knew that sooner or later the police will come after him. Behroze is not the same person anymore after punishing his wife. He could not get over the betrayal and hence he leaves many of the decisions to his assistant. Parizaad’s surprise meeting with Bubbly was the best part of this episode. Both of these characters have come so far from where they started. They have so much in common as well; in order to make up for their weaknesses, they decided to take risks that most people would not take. Now, they are part of a world that is nothing like the one they were born and raised in. They seek validation from others since they grew up around people who did not accept them.

Parizaad Episode 13 Story Review – Seeking Validation

Bubbly’s entire track has been just as meaningful as that of Parizaad’s. Had these two been accepted by society and were not made to feel like outcasts, they wouldn’t have to run away in search of new identities. I absolutely loved Saboor Aly’s expressions when she was introduced as Dilawar for the first time. I have always been able to connect to this character; she was always in desperate need of validation. Unfortunately, with this validation came exploitation! Parizaad and Bubbly both have not lost their innocence even after facing so many different situations in life. In the last scene, Pari once again spoke his mind without thinking of the consequences which went to show that his basic personality was still the same.

The Investigation Continues

The murder investigation was given substantial screen time in this episode which made me wonder if this is going to be the turning point in the story. It was however strange that the CCTV footage was recovered after so many months! The timeline is seriously confusing especially with reference to the investigation. The most initial steps that should have been taken by the authorities are now being taken after so many months. The investigation will finally lead the police to Behroze and even Parizaad as was shown in the preview of the upcoming episode. While Behroze sent Parizaad away so that the police could not reach him, he hasn’t done much to ensure that the police cannot get their hands on him. Badar Munir was reluctant to look further into Behroze’s involvement in the case initially which was a realistic addition to this entire scenario.

Final Remarks

Parizaad is not just the story of one person who was rejected by society but there are so many different characters that have been introduced at different stages who have struggled in their lives. Even the Guru tonight turned out to be one such character. The writer has definitely penned down every character and its backstory with the utmost precision. Parizaad’s family has completely been relegated to the background which is rather odd. Although he has left that life behind, he should have stayed in touch with his sister since that was the only bond he held so close to his heart. Parizaad continues to be gripping and at times too dark therefore upsetting! It manages to hold my interest every week and keeps me looking forward to more.

Parizaad Episode 12 Story Review – Shocking Developments

Watching this recent episode of Parizaad was a completely different experience altogether. Parizaad’s life and circumstances changed drastically in this particular episode. The story took a dark turn and for the first time, Parizaad made some of the most foolish choices. He survived nevertheless and the writer did give the viewers all the possible explanations for Behroze sparing his life. There were also scenes and conversations which were slightly difficult to relate to. For the first time, the script was not as solid as it has been so far. The delay in the investigation and Parizaad’s unbelievable courage did not work for me at all.

The production values continue to be beyond impressive. The director and the production house have left no stone unturned to ensure that every chapter of Pari’s life comes alive on screen. The locations and the camerawork couldn’t have been better. Parizaad definitely has my undivided attention even after this episode but this latest transition in the story was slightly shocking! This had to be the bleakest turn in Pari’s life, so far. In these 12 weeks, we have watched so many different phases and chapters in Pari’s life. This time around for the first time I felt as if this was going to be the turning point in his life. Janu’s scene with his fiancé was the weakest scene in this episode. Nadia Afgan’s character was also introduced in tonight’s episode; it is definitely good to see her in a different role yet again.

Parizaad’s Gullibility

Parizaad has always been shown as a gullible character. He has through the years chosen to forgive many people who did not deserve to be forgiven. But this time around he literally put his life on the line in order to cover up for Laila. Later on, he explained to his maalik that he did that to save his ‘izzat’. Honestly speaking, I was shocked to hear him say that since being brave enough to speak your mind is one thing but pushing your luck is another! Behroze gave different reasons for letting Parizaad go but the main reason seemed to be the fact that he believed in being ‘fair’! He knew that Laila had tricked Parizaad into taking her to see her boyfriend and that he did not really know what was going on. Even then, his gullibility is definitely more of a weakness than a strength therefore I am wondering what Behroze has in mind for Pari. Parizaad’s last wish was his way of showing how much he regretted coming across people who hurt him and let him down every single time. He knows that he is gullible and even after watching Laila blame him for everything; he decided to take the blame for her. He blamed himself for being used repeatedly yet he continued to question Behroze’s action.

Parizaad Episode 12 Story Review – Shocking Developments

The ‘raqeeb’ dialogue was the highlight of this episode. It is interesting that even after going through so many different experiences, Parizaad’s biggest desire remains the same. He wants to be loved more than anything else. Now, it also seems as if the only reason he wanted to be rich was so that someone would perhaps fall in love with him. There have been so many twists and turns in Parizaad’s track but his basic nature remains the same. He has not learned the ways of the world even now. Some character development would have made this character even more interesting.

The Investigation

Badar Munir’s character played by Nadia Afgan was introduced in this episode. She was introduced as an honest and dedicated police officer, who was the one, heading the investigation team probing into Laila’s love interest’s murder. The timeline in this episode was confusing since it took the investigation officers two months to get call records! This is the kind of basic information which the police authorities get immediately. Since this was such a high-profile case, it was difficult to relate to these delays. Laila’s friend’s disappearance was equally unconvincing since surely the hotel had some record of the guests staying and visiting! Even if the police could not get hold of these details because Feroze made sure that they did not leave any leads, Behroze’s men should have been able to find out about the whereabouts of this girl. Even with so many resources and after two months, there was little or no progress in this particular track.

Final Remarks

The performances and the execution of this episode couldn’t have been more impressive but the timeline was confusing. Watching the police officer announce that there was no progress in the investigation after a month was the biggest disappointment since it was not convincing. Also, watching Janu’s fiancé talk about Parizaad as if he meant nothing to her after the emotional scene last week in which she told him that he was like a brother to her, made little sense. This scene should have been edited and instead of this scene, the writer should have shown Saeeda worrying about her brother in order to pass on the information about how much time had elapsed since Pari got into trouble. Nauman Ijaz has been brilliant in this role; Ahmed Ali Akbar continues to give a spell-binding performance and Urwa Hocane looked fabulous throughout. She also did complete justice to the role assigned to her. I am wondering what turn Parizaad’s life will take next and waiting to see some character development as well.

Parizaad Episode 11 Story Review – Continues To Impress

This was yet another emotional, unpredictable and enticing episode of Parizaad. In these 10 weeks, so much has been revealed about the main lead in particular yet every time there is an element of surprise. His primary nature has stayed the same right from the start yet he keeps the viewers wondering about his next move. This element of surprise coupled with the perfect execution makes Parizaad’s journey one of a kind. There have been so many times when different situations suggested that Parizaad might choose financial gains over integrity but every time he passes the test with flying colors! Parizaad is learning how the world operates and every other week he has a different dream. “Dil ke kamray mei ek khawab takmeel ke darwazay se undr ata hei tu dusra khirki se bahar chala jata hei”was such an apt dialogue that summed up not just this main lead’s journey but perhaps everyone’s life in general. This was another valuable lesson learned by Pari but clearly, there’s so much life and the people he will come across are going to teach him. He continues to be a hero with a heart of gold who takes everything at face value even after going through so many different experiences.

Apart from a solid script and some exceptional performances (Ahmed Ali Akbar being the undefeated star of the show), Parizaad is also a visual treat. The cinematography has been impressive throughout but it was especially outstanding in this particular episode. The camera work has been remarkable; some of the scenes were ideal for the big screen in this episode. The director has breathed life into the script by keeping the essence of every scene alive.

Interesting Journey

Tonight’s episode revealed a great deal about Laila’s character as well. She is an intelligent woman who figured out rather quickly that Parizaad was a caring young man who would be willing to help her out if she makes him feel as if he is doing someone in need a favor. She started her story (which sounded made up) with presenting herself as a victim and Parizaad fell for it instantly. She was also wise enough to make a ‘connection’ between herself and her ‘bodyguard’ by telling him that they were more or less the same. This was the perfect example of someone exploiting Parizaad’s kindness and sensitivity. Although these two personality traits have been the biggest strength of this character but this time around they turned into a weakness when he decided to help Laila out without questioning her story. More than once, Pari has done what he felt was the right thing to do without thinking about the consequences. This time around too, he did just that. As he said, he has always followed his heart although his heart has led him in the wrong direction more than once! However, Parizaad’s gullibility did not come as a surprise because he has often believed everyone he has met so far. Also, most of the people except for Bubbly were quite honest with him as well about their identities and their true intentions.

In the previous two episodes, Parizaad was bent on earning money that was the sole purpose of his life. Even this episode opened with Parizaad recalling Lubna’s mother’s words suggesting that he still woke up with the same purpose in mind. However, Parizaad continues to be someone who would not think twice before helping someone he loves in need or even someone he has just met. He is willing to work hard to get rich but he is not going to compromise on his principles or change who he is as a person to earn money. The way he gave all the money he had to help Janu out went to show yet again that Parizaad was just as good a friend as he was before earning money wasn’t his primary focus. Also, it is amusing how some of the conversations stay with him and leave a lasting impression. Laila’s words perhaps altered his perspective towards life. It was endearing and heart-warming watching Pari help his friend get the love of his life even though he himself hadn’t been lucky in love. Parizaad has met so many people who have loved and respected him for the person he is and have not paid attention to his outward appearance. Yet, it seems as if this validation is not enough for him. The writer of this drama has also made the viewers fall in love with the most unusual hero hence proving that looks are completely secondary!

Parizaad Episode 11 Story Review – Continues To Impress

Behroze definitely picked up on what Laila might be up to since it seems as if there is a good reason why he does not trust her. He warned Parizaad politely the first time they were late and the preview of the upcoming episode suggested that he will give him another chance to tell him the truth. Even though Behroze has a few scenes in every episode yet he makes his presence felt every time. Parizaad’s bhabhis were yet again shown doing what they do the best! It was good to see Saeeda in this episode happily married and defending her brother. However, it would have been even better if there was an actual conversation between Pari and Saeeda in this episode. Naheed’s mother’s scene showed that Naheed was under pressure to have a son. Having a daughter might impact her marriage and she will perhaps eventually be shown regretting her decision.

Final Remarks

Ahmed Ali Akbar has truly outdone himself by translating even the minutest details of his character impeccably on screen. Parizaad’s awkwardness when someone appreciates his kindness and the smirk on his face when he is happy makes his acting truly commendable. Apart from everything else, he has captured the essence of Parizaad being a complete misfit socially because of the way he expresses himself. This drama wouldn’t have been the same had he not been playing the lead. Hashim Nadeem deserves credit for penning down the most meaningful dialogues; these dialogues are definitely the best part of the script other than the characterizations. This drama has definitely set the bar high by being a commercial hit without relying on done-to-death scenarios. I was not too sure if Urwa Hocane was the right choice for this role but after watching this episode I am really impressed with her performance. She did not give anything away; it was impossible to gauge what Laila’s true intentions were. The preview of the next episode was enticing, to say the least! I can’t wait to tune into Parizaad next week.

Parizaad Episode 10 Story Review – New Chapter

This was yet another episode of Parizaad with some unexpected developments and outstanding performances. The dialogues and screenplay continue to be some of the best aspects of the drama. However, for the first time, I did not warm up to a new character instantly. Urwa Hocane’s character did not have the ‘class’ or ‘aura’ which Behroze’s character has. She came across as cute and perhaps immature; I felt that Urwa was not the best choice for playing the role. Having said that, I am waiting to find out more about this character and hoping that Urwa Hocane will give us another memorable performance as this track moves forward. Ahmed Ali Akbar deserves all the praise for translating this character in the most impressive manner possible. Besides his phenomenal performance, Nauman Ijaz is one of those few actors in the industry who truly make their presence felt. His expressions and body language are enough to hold the viewers’ interest, which is simply amazing! The camerawork in Parizaad has always added to the value of different scenes. The way the director and the cameraman have captured every little gesture makes each one of these scenes detailed and easy to interpret especially when there are no dialogues.

New Responsibilities

Tonight’s episode opened with Parizaad wanting to tell his new boss the truth even though he was threatened with dire consequences. The highlight of all these scenes covering Parizaad and Behroze’s interactions were Behroze’s dialogues. He is going to be yet another mentor who might leave a bigger impact than anyone else has so far on the main protagonist’s thought process! Parizaad is learning new perspectives of life as he meets different people. Even though he learned an important lesson about the value of an individual and material gain, he always held his integrity and honesty dear. That is the reason why he did not think twice before telling Behroze what he had witnessed. However, the lesson his new boss gave him wasn’t that of integrity or honesty. Contrary to that, he actually told him loud and clear that his honesty might prove to be a hurdle in the way of his success. Although it was this honesty that made his new boss trust him, he also told him that most of the rich and powerful people did not follow rules and were dishonest! This was yet another bitter truth coming from a man who is highly ‘respected’ and even feared! The viewers found out more about this character in tonight’s episode through different scenes. Quite unexpectedly, the development in the previous episode was a set-up to test Parizaad and he passed this test with flying colors!

I find it quite interesting that Parizaad is not ‘ashamed’ of his new goal in life. He has been telling everyone he meets that his main goal in life right now is to get rich and he is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve this objective. There were times tonight when I felt there was a contradiction in his behavior. On the one hand, he talked about his honesty, and on the other, he was willing to work for someone who he knew had not earned his wealth by using honest means. Is this another transition in Parizaad’s character? Is he willing to compromise on his principles in order to earn money? I am waiting to find out! This character has so much going for it; I am expecting it to get even better as the story progresses. So far, all of his transitions have been so smooth and effortless therefore I am expecting the best from the writer in the upcoming episodes as well.

Parizaad Episode 10 Story Review – New Chapter

Mrs. Behroze is definitely hiding something. It was also obvious that her husband isn’t just ‘protecting’ her but he has trust issues as well. He told Parizaad to inform him about her whereabouts and whoever she was meeting. So, this is more than just protection! Personally, I felt that Hania Aamir would have been more suitable for this role. Parizaad and Mrs. Behroze’s interactions were quite interesting as well. The advice Behroze’s PA gave him also said a great deal about how challenging this job was going to be. Parizaad has never been afraid of facing new situations therefore it did not come as a surprise when he decided to go ahead with the task even though he knew that there were challenges involved.

Parizaad’s fascination with the piano and the opportunity he got to play it for the first time went to show that this was perhaps the first step towards the realization of his dreams. Parizaad’s close ties with his new friend Janu might be the reason why he ultimately decides to go against his boss’ wishes and accept bribe from his wife. So far Parizaad has done more for the people he loves than himself therefore it would be completely in line with his character if he decides to do so. Some of Parizaad’s scenes in this episode as well reminded me of Moosa. Even with all his intelligence, there is so much he needs to learn about the ways of the world. Also, there is a certain innocence about him that sets him apart. That is definitely a rare combination.

The Bhabhis

So, the bhabhis finally found out about the money Parizaad gave Saeeda. Their scenes have always been given so much attention and even now I cannot figure out why that has been the case. While all the other characters have played a vital role in taking Parizaad’s track forward, the bhabhis have been playing more or less the same role. They have not impacted the main track in the manner rest of the characters have. The convincing performances by all the actors involved make this track watchable otherwise these scenes are more or less repetitive. I would have liked to see more of Saeeda in this episode since Parizaad’s absence must have impacted her more than anyone else.

Final Remarks

The reference to The Godfather was another interesting addition to this episode; it suggested that Parizaad might be taking a different road from now on. He will surely learn more from this experience than anything else he has encountered so far in life. Apart from the well-executed script, the production values of this drama also add to its overall appeal. Behroze’s world truly came alive on screen because of the way his lifestyle was shown. Parizaad’s journey continues to be unlike any other; it is refreshing and engaging.

Parizaad Episode 1 Story Review – Decent Start

This first episode of Parizaad belonged to the leading man, Parizaad, and Ahmed Ali Akbar, who completely transformed himself to fit into the character. It was quite obvious from this opening episode that Hashim Nadeem is about to give us yet another unusual and appealing central character. Like any other first episode, this one introduced the viewers to some of the central characters in detail. As was evident from the promos and OST, this drama has a long list of stars therefore we were only introduced to some of the characters in this first episode. I must say that an opening episode with more than one character standing out is always better than one in which the main focus is on a single character. Having said that, by the time this episode ended Parizaad was no longer a stranger to me and I found myself wanting to find out how his journey will go forward. Besides Ahmed Ali Akbar, Ushna Shah’s performance also stood out in this opening episode.

Layered Central Character

Many of the scenes in this first episode established the fact that Parizaad was made to feel like an outcast right from the time he was born due to his appearance. His mother was the only one who accepted him wholeheartedly so much that she gave him a name that perhaps affected his overall personality. This was a classic example of a mother’s unconditional love. Usually, the back story is shown through flashback scenes in such dramas but this episode opened with Parizaad’s birth and quickly moved on to 20 years later. All the scenes centering on Parizaad, in particular, were well put together since they gave some new information about a character that promises to be the main attraction of the drama. As a grown-up, Parizaad was shown as a responsible adult who wasn’t physically attractive but had a pleasant personality. His equation with the people around him was also established well in this episode. As the youngest sibling in the family, he is dominated by the older brothers played by the very talented Paras Masroor and Tipu Shah. Parizaad’s relationship with his sister showed his candid side. Saeeda (Kiran Tabeer) is the only one in the family who understands and loves his brother. It is always good to see such a strong sibling bond in Pakistani dramas.

Parizaad Episode 1 Story Review – Decent Start

Hashim Nadeem has already proved more than once that he is completely capable of etching out unforgettable male leads and I really hope that this time around unlike Raqs-e-Bismil the female lead will turn out to be just as interesting as the male one. Ushna Shah definitely made her presence felt in all the scenes and I also loved the camera work which was actually meaningful! Naheed as a character was quite plain mainly because only a handful of scenes were dedicated to her. Her beauty was her most prominent trait which was emphasized upon. I just hope that she does not turn out to be another Zohra because no matter how appealing or well-etched-out the male lead is, if the female lead or the supporting characters do not have the same impact then it affects the overall feel of a drama or in this case, the episode. Yumna Zaidi’s character wasn’t introduced in this first episode.

Mirza sahab’s (Syed Muhammad Ahmed) long association with Parizaad’s family and the kind of respect he got from every member of the house was shown in such a way that I even warmed up to the younger sister’s kindness towards him immediately. I am waiting to see how this misunderstanding affects the relationship between the two families and Parizaad in particular. I felt as if Shoki got a little too much screen time unless there was an actual reason for doing so.

Parizaad Episode 1 Story Review – Decent Start

Final Remarks

This first episode was for the most part well written and every scene was executed brilliantly. The cinematography was impressive throughout. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s body language was outstanding; he completely transformed his acting style to match the needs of the character. Parizaad’s character itself is layered; I hope it will continue to intrigue and engage. The entire episode had an artsy feel to it as well. I was not completely blown away by this first episode but it definitely promised meaningful entertainment. Shoki’s scenes were not the highlight of this episode and perhaps were the reason why I wasn’t too impressed overall.

Insensitivity is very common about minority communities in Pakistan and same is the case for disabled people. Disabilities are either looked down upon or pitied majorly in the society therefore we have not progressed a lot for the community with disabilities economically or socially. Working for the progress of disabled people, creating awareness and creating opportunities for them to get more jobs and get access to every area of life is important. Celebrities can play an important role in this regard but a video by Parizaad actor Ahmad Taha Ghani who played Majid Bhai along with actor Ali Raza is making rounds on the internet and it is not at all positive.

Recently, Adeel Afzal talked about the problems of the new actors which they face while getting their payments. While sharing his frustration with Talha Ahad in his podcast, Adeel Afzal said, “We have thought that we will go for short cuts but we would not follow the mechanism (procedure). I’m an actor, I should be approached by the agency which is supposed to tackle all the money and dates related issues. I have worked in a play, now I am getting a contract after three months of doing my work, getting fame, now, what would I do of such a contract?, which I am getting after doing my work, see, I have worked in a drama, I called to the makers for my money, they said to me, ‘we have signed your check but we don’t have money in our bank account”, can you believe this? It’s a big channel and they have to give me just a few thousands. Well, I get sad over these things because I had been part of the process, I have no complaints from channel because at the end of the day they are doing business” Have a look at the video:
