Mehwish Hayat is appointed as a goodwill ambassador for girls’ rights. She has been quite vocal about humanitarian issues specially children’s education.

Mehwish shared the news of being appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for the rights of the girl child and said, “This is something close to me & I look forward to actively raising awareness of the issues to be addressed. Let’s give girls a better future they deserve.”

Mehwish has started working for children’s education. She posted a video about children’s education and said, “Every child deserves a proper upbringing. They should be at school getting educated not having to work. Let’s make sure we don’t take away their precious childhoods. These young minds have to be nurtured as they’re the future of Pakistan!

Since she has vowed to protect and promote Pakistan’s image, actress Mehwish Hayat never fails to speak out about things that matter most, especially when it comes to her country.

Recently, the Punjab Nahi Jaungi actress schooled Pakistani-Canadian columnist Tarek Fatah for misrepresenting a scene from her film Load Wedding.

Tarek Fatah, is known for his Twitter presence against Pakistan and Islam. The troll recently posted a video on his Twitter in which a woman is seen refusing a polio worker’s request to inoculate her child.

Upon finding the tweet, Mehwish Hayat was quick enough to point out and school Fatah for the blunder he had caused.

“Thank u for giving ur 2 cents on this but pls first verify the source b4 posting next time. It’s a scene frm my movie”loadwedding”,the polio worker is me & that woman an actress.Through the film we were raising awareness of the issue.Glad 2 see our performances were so convincing,” wrote Mehwish on her Twitter.

Although it turned out to be a rather embarrassing moment for Fatah, he didn’t acknowledge his error nor Mehwish’s correction. But what is interesting is the fact that the tweet was deleted around midday.

Good going Mehwish, keep calling out these trolls and embarrassing them for trying to tarnish Pakistan’s image. Hats off to you and your efforts.

A Pakistani film got screened and won awards at Cannes Film Festival being the first one to do so while many actors including Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat and Ahad Raza Mir have featured in big projects with noticeable and important roles. Mehwish herself will soon feature in Ms Marvel.

Mehwish revealed that her film was the first to feature at Cannes Film Festival. She did a telefilm titled Dho Dala which was directed by Iram Parveen Bilal and it was screened at Cannes 12 years ago. Mehwish could not attend the prestigious film festival back then. These days however, she has been doing great as se just walked the red carpet at Ms Marvel Premiere, her first Hollywood project.

News was ripe that Mehwish Hayat had been finalized as the lead alongside Humayun Saeed in Nadeem Baig’s upcoming film London Nahi Jaunga. Headlines began doing rounds, when an interview of Nadeem Baig with Dhanak went on social media and saw Baig reluctantly stating that Mehwish Hayat could be in the lead.

However, as per latest news, the film’s lead actor and producer Humayun Saeed, stated that it had not been the case. “Yes we are indeed in talks with two/three actresses but we haven’t signed a contract with anyone yet. Once we do, we will make an official announcement,” leading daily, Something Haute qouted Humayun Saeed as saying.

Alongside Mehwish Hayat, news also had it the actress Kubra Khan had also been roped in for second lead opposite Humayun in the film London Nahi Jaunga.

London Nahi Jaunga, directed by Nadeem Baig has been written by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and stars Humayun Saeed in the lead. The film, is one of the two announced by Baig for next year; the other one being scripted by Vasay Chaudhry. Although carrying a similar name, London Nahi Jaunga, as confirmed by Nadeem Baig, is not a sequel of Punjab Nahi Jaungi and will feature a different story altogether.

London Nahi Jaunga is slated for a 2020 release.
