Lashkara Episode 19 – Review Story !

Ohkay so, as much as I hoping that wasn’t the case, the preview of the next episode confirmed the spoiler alert that I got from some genius last week about Bubbly & her misfortune. I so hoped that things will become better & only better in her life but looks like this story is about something entirely different altogether, which now I don’t mind considering the sort of treatment the team will give to that subject. I must say, it is commendable that the drama-makers kept the actual deal under wraps & if it wasn’t for the precap, I am sure no one could’ve guessed where the story is headed & what it really is about.

Feeka succeeded in convincing Bubbly that he wanted their marriage to work. Bubbly was unsure & she had the right to be because of what he put her through. To be honest, apart from Muneer, I didn’t really get touched by other’s reactions, not even Kulsoom’s because even she was mad at Bubbly for leaving Feeka’s house without bothering to know about what the circumstances were that pushed her to that limit. I was wondering if it wasn’t for Sunny, no one would have believed Bubbly, not Feeka, not even her parents. Sigh!

Lashkara Episode 19

Well, Nasreen tried to bring Feeka back but looks like he has made up his mind as he knows that he has zero tolerance left for Nikki & Nasreen chooses not to let her go. Feeka’s belief in himself for the first time was nice to see. He didn’t bother about anything else but only kept Bubbly as his priority & for the first time he has this faith in himself that he will do what it takes to make things works for himself & his wife, without the support or security blanket provided by his mother which is a huge change that Feeka has brought in himself considering how he never was the one to take such decisions before.

Lashkara Episode 19

Sunny may have proved his love to Bubbly & though things must have been done & dusted for her but as far as Sunny is concerned, things are far from being over. Sunny has a storm brewing up in his mind & he is not giving up. I thought after the pep talk Bubbly gave to him, Sunny will let go of her but no, he doesn’t intend to & with Chitta Jee’s reminders, it does look like his obsession for Bubbly will take an ugly turn but you never know, it could be Feeka too.

I must say just the glimpse of the actual scene in the precap sent shivers down my spine so I really can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to see it actually happening in the next episode. I am interested to see how this entire subject will be dealt with because of its sensitive nature. The writer deserves to be commended to bring us a story of this sort & show it in such a convincing manner because the victims of acid attack do exist in our society & survive this battle alone or at times with some support. Imran Ashraf took the crown in this episode, the way he has elaborated the disturbed mental & emotional state of Sunny, I can only say he is a gifted actor. Well done!!! Please share your thoughts.

Lashkara Episode 18 Story Review – Finally!

Ohkay so, finally this episode of Lashkara not only took the story but also exposed the truth in front of everyone. As much as I am happy that now the truth has surfaced, I will still say that I am disappointed in Bubbly because she didn’t do what she was supposed to!

The writer added the touch of honor & dignity that is usually associated with the females of the house in this episode. Iqbal’s outburst & then Sheeda & Saima’s counter argument in order to defend Bubbly was a depiction of that. I really don’t think the entire Qandeel Baloch reference was required or added any weight to their argument because even without it, what they were advocating was right & made a lot of sense. Nasreen told everything to Taya Jee & that’s when the hell broke loose in Muneer’s house but then again, I didn’t feel for Muneer because of his dejected state of mind, I felt bad for him because his daughter was not telling him the truth that he was entitled to know.

Sunny spoke to Bubbly & he decided to prove his love to her by doing right by her because he was the one who ruined her life, so it was good to see him taking the responsibility of fixing everything. Even though the preview of the next episode suggests that Sunny has an ulterior motive & he won’t let go of Bubbly easily but still, at least what he did cleared the mess up. Sunny knew he had to go to some level of extreme to get the truth out of Nikki but it was Akram who spilled the beans. Akram proved that he loves Nikki because he couldn’t stand the idea of Sunny causing any harm to her. Nikki really has travelled afar in her hatred for Bubbly & her love for Tipu that she has not given a sincere chance to Akram who actually happens to be a nice guy. Akram loves Nikki just the way she is, he does everything that she says, may be its his way of getting Nikki to love him but that hasn’t happened yet. The day Nikki will let go of her past will be the day when she will see that Akram is a devoted husband & eventually she will find her happiness in him!

Feeka found out the truth & went to see Bubbly so that he could apologize to her as well as her entire family. In this entire scenario, I have felt a lot of sympathy for Feeka & everyone else except Bubbly because she chose to turn into a forced bechari who couldn’t help herself whereas in reality, there was so much she could do like telling the truth to her parents for starters!

Well looks like things are going to get back to normal in Bubbly Feeka’s marital life for now but don’t know what other curveballs await for them. I really hope they push through & stick together forever. Acting & direction for sure is top-notch, I just hope the pace doesn’t slow down again. Please share your thoughts!

Lashkara Episode 17 – Review Story !

Ohkay so, this episode of Lashkara was again a bit of a drag & I actually had a hard time watching it in one go. The pace is not the issue, but what’s bothersome is the way the reactions have been portrayed with too much focus on crying. I am actually looking forward to the time when thing will be sorted, but I guess before that happens we’ll have to bear with this mourning!

I really don’t get Bubbly’s stance in this. She thinks she has understood the meaning of life but she is mistaken. I couldn’t agree more with Saima as well as Nazeer where Saima told Bubbly that her husband & parents deserved to know the truth & Nazeer spoke about her mistake that she was wrong in blaming her ‘kismat’. It is actually frustrating that when Bubbly has not even looked for solutions, how can she just easily accept everything & choose this unnecessary suffering for herself? Bubbly’s approach is ridiculous. Yes, I get it, just because her husband doubted her, she lost everything but if she didn’t want to do the explaining, she could have told her parents the truth so that they could have dealt with everything themselves. Bubbly initially told Saima that she was keeping things from her parents because she didn’t want to see them upset or sad, so what is she doing now? By keeping them in the dark & giving them this stupid excuse, Bubbly is causing them more pain. Ohkay, even if she doesn’t want to live with Feeka for his sake, she needs to tell her parents the truth because whatever she is doing is not helping the case, at all!

Tayi’s character, though real is still quite annoying & this is exactly why I found it very odd in the last episode that she was too keen on Bubbly looking presentable in front of the guests. Saima is frustrated at Bubbly, but more at the fact that she is unable to do anything to help her because Bubbly herself is refusing to do something about it!

I am sure if Bubbly hadn’t demanded it, Feeka would not have thought about divorcing her but now when she has made up her mind, he can’t do much. In this mix, I don’t really blame Feeka. Yes, he couldn’t trust Bubbly but it was because he doesn’t even trust himself. He had a complex & that is why he believed & assumed that Bubbly wasn’t loyal to him – that’s his personality, he is full of complexes & he also had this thing in mind that his mother used her wealth to lure Bubbly into this marriage, so that is why I feel it was Bubbly’s job to do the explaining to her husband who already had so many inhibitions & fears regarding this relationship.

Let’s see what happens next but at this stage, I am not too happy with the way the story is shaping up. I hope it changes & Sunny does something too. Please share your thoughts.

Lashkara Episode 16 – Review!

Ohkay so, despite it still being my favorite drama & without my feelings changing for it, I will just say that this episode of Lashkara didn’t work for me at all because it was a filler episode & just didn’t do much in terms of taking the story forward. I found the scenes to be forced & situations a little dragged!

The entire focus of Tayi Jee on Bubbly, more than on Saima was hard to digest because she was never too fond of Bubbly & just a day before she was telling Saima off because she was speaking in Bubbly’s favor. Tayi Jee was always very conscious when people came to see Saima as she knew that Bubbly always grabbed everyone’s attention so even if she was married, the entire focus of Tayi Jee wanting Bubbly to look presentable & pretty seemed forced as we all know what she thinks of her & sadly, a good chunk of epsisode was covered by scenes of Tayi Jee arranging a suit for Bubbly – again, hard to digest!

The suitors being more interested in Bubbly & Nasreen, though being realistic again didn’t leave much of an impact. We all know Saima is blunt & calls spade a spade but again it just didn’t really make much sense that she chose to spill the beans about Bubbly’s personal problems in front of those outsiders. I’m sure that entire situation must have worked for a lot of viewers but for me it just seemed a bit too random & not well thought-out.

Bubbly left Feeka for his sake & later when everyone questioned her, she took it all on herself that she doesn’t like him enough to stay with him. As far as Feeka is concerned, he was introduced as this over-emotional person who really didn’t had a mind of his own so his will to give up on everything is on one side but Bubbly was introduced as a totally different person therefore it is frustrating to see her acting like this. Yes, at the time of her marriage, Bubbly did put her family ahead of her & got married because she saw what Nasreen did for her brother & even now leaving Feeka for his own good can be debated upon, but the things she said to her parents & the silly excuse she presented to stop them from probing further just wasn’t convincing & strong enough for me. Bubbly was honest, yes I understand that she has changed, she has matured mentally that is why she doesn’t want her parents to get insulted but now when she has made up her mind, she should tell them everything honestly. She doesn’t owe anyone else any explanation but I believe her parents deserve to know the truth to at least be able to vouch for her or even support her if they want to. Bubbly thinks she is doing her parents a favor but she is totally wrong because she is putting them under such a horrible burden that they, especially her father might not be able to deal with!!!

Do you agree with Bubbly’s approach? Well I don’t. Also, the last thing I want is for Sunny to create more issues for Bubbly. I thought he will stick to his instinct that it was Nikki who was behind everything but sadly after what Chitta Jee told him about Bubbly, he changed his mind. I hope as they showed in the precap of next episode that Sunny will get to know about Bubbly’s separation with Feeka, I hope it will motivate him to find out the truth. Also, please don’t tell me we have Talaq on cards? That will be super upsetting! Anyways, I am not happy with Bubbly’s character & what she is doing but definitely looking forward to the next episode. Please share your thoughts!

Lashkara Episode 15 Review – Heart-breaking!

Ohkay so, this episode of Lashkara was pretty heart breaking, I say that because of the convincing & phenomenal acting as well as the message that the writer has tried to convey by showing us such a situation!

I really like Saima’s character & it is so good to know that she has so much more to offer. I concurred every single thing that Saima said to her mother about supporting your daughter & letting her know that she can still fall back on her parents even after her marriage. Saima’s mother spoke from her experience because she was of an opinion that no matter what the husband or in laws do, girl has to compromise & sacrifice, in short do the heavy-lifting to make the marriage work. I found this entire conversation pretty interesting because both the sides had valid points & spoke through their perspectives but in my opinion, I don’t want to see Bubbly compromise but I most certainly want to see her fight till the end to prove her innocence which will eventually make her marriage work too. I liked how in such a non-preachy manner the writer opened up this aspect of the story which revolves around supporting your daughters even if they have troubles in their marriage.

Feeka said yes to 2nd marriage but his disinterest showed that he only wanted to punish Bubbly. He has loved her so much that is why the scale of the pain that he is going through is huge too & that is why he is being reckless to go for another marriage thinking this is the only suitable solution to the problem he is facing. Feeka being over-emotional is the main reason why he has landed himself as well as Bubbly in this trouble because he for once can not think straight, he can not think rationally & he is now letting Nikki & Nasreen do the thinking on his behalf. If Feeka was a little less emotional & a bit analytical he would’ve had a very different outlook on this entire matter & he also would’ve given a chance to Bubbly to explain herself but sadly, he didn’t therefore both Feeka & Bubbly are suffering!

Bubbly is not doing anything & that saddens me. It is unfortunate that Bubbly has pretty much surrendered in front of Nikki & is now accepting everything that’s coming her way. Bubbly was keeping things from Feeka because she was scared of hurting him but now when Nikki has said everything, I am not sure why Bubbly is not telling him the truth or giving him any explanation. Yes, she is heart-broken that her husband doesn’t trust her but then it wouldn’t harm her more to say everything out loud & tell everyone that Nikki is the one who planned all of this!

Bubbly decided to put up with everything because she didn’t want her parents to know. Saima obviously had a hard time sugar coating things but she respected Bubbly’s wishes. Saima is upset & rightly so that only because Bubbly’s parents especially her mother is living in a bubble, Bubbly is suffering because of that & as she doesn’t want her parents to face an embarrassment, she is suffering alone!

It is sad that Bubbly is pleading in front of Nikki, who is not going to listen to her anyways. I wish in stead of wasting her energies on Nikki, Bubbly had spoken to Feeka about what actually happened, I guess that would’ve been a better way to save him from getting married & ruining his life.

I must say, in this episode especially, I paid attention to all the supporting actors like Chitta Jee, Zarina, Shaddan, Saima & I was totally impressed with their effortless acting & dialogue delivery – it goes to show that if the director has a grip on everything, the actors perform to the best of their abilities too. Loving this drama so far & definitely looking forward to what’s in store for us. Please share your thoughts.

Lashkara Episode 14 – Review!

Ohkay so, this episode of Lashkara gave is an insight into Bubbly’s state of mind which was a result of her predicament. I must say I am so happy with the pace of this drama because every single episode has so much to offer & takes the story forward a great deal!

Saima tried to make Bubbly understand that she shouldn’t keep things hidden from her mother at least. Saima was right but then Bubbly was right too because she knew that Kulsoom’s bubble will be burst soon anyway so she wanted her to be happy for the last time. I love Bubbly’s character for this very reason that even though people see her for her beauty & what’s on the outside, but from the inside, she is so much more than that. Bubbly got married to Feeka because she put her family’s reputation ahead of her & now once again, like a mature married daughter, she was putting her mother’s happiness ahead of her too. I also really like Saima’s character because even though people see her as a bookworm but she has a personality of her own too where she is in touch with emotions, is observant, doesn’t shy away from voicing her opinions & when needed, takes charge of the situation that too authoritatively.

Feeka was broken but unfortunately, no one could console him or undo his pain. I so wanted Nasreen to do something about it but she chose to stay silent. I think in stead of just letting Nikki be, Nasreen should actually probe & ask her about the things Bubbly said which clearly indicated that she didn’t know how to type a message. Even though Nasreen finds it hard to believe or trust Bubbly but I have a feeling she knows Nikki is behind all this or even if she doesn’t, I see her wise enough to connect the dots & know that there must be a solid reason behind the hatred that Nikki has for Bubbly because of which she must have done something to cause her pain. It was sad that Nasreen just let Feeka dwell more & more into depression & chose to stand there helplessly whereas she is the only one who can fix everything if she takes charge of the situation & puts her mind to it!

At this stage, it is only Sunny who can actually help Bubbly but sadly, he is locked up too but a part of me was happy to see him in the precap of the next episode because it does look like Sunny will try to do something about it. Saima told half the truth to Nasreen & Muneer but she didn’t go into details as she knew that this was not what Bubbly wanted. I so wish Iqbal understands how because of him Bubbly feels awkward in front of Feeka’s family. I really can not believe that Nasreen fell for Nikki’s little act & told her to stay, despite seeing Feeka’s emotional & mental state. Well, Feeka did bring Bubbly back but it looks like he wants to punish her for shattering his trust on her. I so hope Bubbly just doesn’t settle for whatever Freka will throw her way & with Sunny’s help she will try to clear her name. Let’s see!

Loving this drama so far & I am enjoying everyone’s acting too. Please share your thoughts.

Lashkara Episode 13 Review – Phenomenal x 10!

Wow! What an episode filled with such such such brilliant performances. It surely was a treat to watch & I found myself spell-bound, totally glued to the screen because I couldn’t take my eyes off it. Hats off to all the actors & the director for bringing out these emotions on-screen in such a real & convincing manner!

Feeka was only trying to help Bubbly but he didn’t know that his behavior with which he approached everything related to Bubbly will land him as well as her in deep trouble. Feeka just wanted everything in & around Bubbly’s life to be perfect, hence the haste. It was more like that he had set a task of outdoing himself every single time there was anything related to Bubbly, that is why just a mere mention of a loose hook of Bubbly’s chain made him restless. In front of Bubbly, Feeka wanted to be like that magician who fixed everything in a jiffy & that is why, he never really gave Bubbly a chance to just be. Obviously, it made Feeka a fantastic husband but then it also caused problems for Bubbly especially in a setting where someone was on a look out for a little window to throw a stone & destroy their picture perfect of a life.

All Bubbly did was request Nikki to give what belonged to her as she just wanted to stop Feeka from questioning her further as she knew she would run out of lies but then what happened was shocking. Feeka couldn’t stop himself from getting involved & then what Nikki did was unforgivably cruel. That moment where Bubbly, without even explaining herself walked out of that conversation was so upsetting, it just showed that all this while she was walking on eggshells but now she knew that it was not going to work. The way she just left showed that even she knew that she had lost the most precious thing in her life; her relationship with her husband.

One might definitely think that Feeka didn’t truly love Bubbly to blindly trust her, this is the thought that crossed my mind too but after hearing everything that Feeka had to say, it just got elaborated how he had such a low self-esteem, how he had zero confidence in himself because of which he easily accepted that Nikki was telling him the truth. Feeka didn’t doubt Bubbly, it’s just that he was so full of doubts about himself that he just couldn’t believe that Bubbly will stay loyal to him. The moment Feeka stood in front of the mirror with Bubbly, it just explained everything, it unveiled all the complexes, all those fears Feeka had ever since he got married to Bubbly where he knew that she was better than him in every single way yet she chose to become his wife. Then all this took me back to Feeka’s overall attitude with Bubbly; his enthusiasm, his keenness in dealing with everything related to her because in other words, by doing all of that he was compensating Bubbly for settling for a man like him, he was basically trying to make her so so so happy that even for once she doesn’t think that she got married to someone she didn’t deserve. So, basically Feeka didn’t mistrust Bubbly, all the doubts that he ever had just resurfaced making it easier for him to believe again that Bubbly didn’t deserve him & may be that is why she wanted an escape from the life where she had to live with a man like Feeka!

I must say I love these sorts of dramas where the writers build up the entire situation & use it as a stepping stone for the actual scenario. What happened in this episode & the way Feeka reacted made it easy for me to understand what he was saying & feeling as I immediately connected the dots & realized why he used to be this sort of a husband to Bubbly. He was just proving a point to himself as well as her – all the time. Beautifully written!

Another powerful scene that I loved was between Bubbly & Nasreen. Bubbly didn’t bother saying a word to Nikki because she knew she would not understand but I loved how she didn’t stay quiet in front of Nasreen & reminded her of the business deal that she did & the way she heartlessly treated her as a commodity. Bubbly didn’t want to say all of this but she did as Nasreen had the power & an authority to stop what was happening by telling Feeka the truth but she chose not to!

Well, Bubbly came back & only Saima could see that something was awfully wrong – things just weren’t right. I wish Kulsoom could see that too. Also, I am glad that the writer has shown this way of approaching the news of pregnancy, that it can be & should be celebrated but I am just wondering if it would have, in any way changed the dynamics of the story if Kulsoom had kept the news to herself? I am saying this because usually in such households this thing is definitely kept private especially in such initial stages. Also, Kulsoom didn’t get a confirmation from Bubbly first & based on an assumption she just went ahead, not only told her husband but announced it in the entire neighbourhood that Bubbly was expecting a child!?!?! Let’s see how this part will play out, apart from bringing regrets & shame Kulsoom’s way & more mental pressure Bubbly’s way.

I loved watching this episode, it is definitely a treat seeing such a well-written script acted & directed out such a brilliant way. I am definitely falling short of words for Ushna Shah, Mohsin Abbas Haider & the actress playing the role of Nikki, they literally blew the audience away with their phenomenal phenomenal phenomenal & effortless acting. Well done guys. Please share your thoughts!

Lashkara Episode 12 Review – Intense!

Ohkay so, this episode of Lashkara opened up a new chapter in Bubbly’s life which was based on emotional struggles & depression that she was going through. It was interesting to see how this subject not only got introduced but was tackled & elaborated.

Bubbly was still struggling to cope up with what just happened – everything that Sunny did & despite knowing that it was Nikki behind all this, she chose to stay quiet. Bubbly’s only concern is Feeka, she just doesn’t want to hurt him therefore she didn’t even bother explaining anything to Nasreen as well because she feared that she might not actually believe her. Bubbly who was flying high with all the love & support that she was getting was now finding herself falling deep in a bottomless pit & sadly, that gave an opening to something that she was unaware of – depression.

Bubbly struggled hard but what pushed her to the limit was a declaration from Nikki about Tipu who committed suicide because of her. I almost guessed it right in the previous review as it was obvious that Nikki had this grudge against Bubbly because of someone & that happened to be Tipu who lost his life. It is unfortunate that Nikki had to go through it but what’s worst is that just because of her hatred for Bubbly, she is choosing to ignore the fact that Feeka is madly in love with her & she means the world to him. Nikki lost Tipu & she has firsthand experienced what it does to you, so it is ridiculous of her to overlook that everything that she will do to Bubbly will affect Feeka the same way as well. Yes, Nikki wants Bubbly to feel the pain of losing someone but then why can’t she be considerate of Feeka?

It was obvious that even Nasreen knew Nikki was behind everything that happened, may be that’s why she politely requested her to leave Feeka & Bubbly alone. Nasreen also subtly touched upon the past telling Nikki to let it go but then, I guess she was going easy on Nikki as being a mother she knows how troubled her child is. Nikki herself confessed that she cut her wrist for Tipu so obviously Nasreen is smart enough to connect the dots. Nasreen is not openly telling Nikki off, neither she is giving Bubbly that satisfaction to think she is not guilty but I feel if there’s someone who can fix everything, it is Nasreen!

Feeka’s concerns for Bubbly were so nicely portrayed, he just couldn’t understand what went wrong for Bubbly to become like this as on his own, he was doing everything to please her but still it wasn’t enough. To be honest, it is beautiful how hopelessly in love Feeka is with Bubbly & it is nice to see their equation where Bubbly’s personality works in perfect harmony with Feeka’s simplicity & gullibility but it has its cons too because these traits of Feeka scare Bubbly as she knows that he won’t be able to grasp everything & he will not think rationally if he will find out what happened that night. It is nice to see Bubbly still smiling for Feeka & loving him for who he is but also, it turns out she is suffering because of him too as she knows that she won’t be able to make him understand everything!

Sunny was spot on, he did figure out that it was Nikki who did everything but then, who is going to believe him & even before that who is going to hear him out? Sunny lost all the chances he had to fix things & now he lost his freedom too. I so hope he finds a way out to do right by Bubbly because she needs it. Kulsoom & her assumptions are going to cost her a lot of shame later but then I liked how Saima was able to see through Bubbly’s act & she could feel that something was just not right. Obviously Saima couldn’t say much but because she has spent her entire life with Bubbly, she knows her too well. I just hope in the middle of all this, Bubbly finds some support, she gets encouragement to fight Nikki because she has to hold onto her love, her husband, so she better bounce back & do what needs to be done!

I love Lashkara for everything that it has offered till date – intense acting, meaningful dialogues, captivating scenarios, it is amazing how a drama that started on such a different note has taken such a turn. If we put it in simple words, Lashkara is showing us the hardships a girl faces in her husband’s home but then the treatment that has been given to this script makes it a unique drama. I am loving the acting of all the actors & I can not wait to see what’s in store for us. Please share your thoughts.

Lashkara Episode 10 & 11 Review – Phenomenal!

Ohkay so, these 2 episodes of Lashkara changed the course of the story convincingly. I am not sure how Lashkara is doing in terms of popularity or ratings because I don’t actually follow the related pages but I totally believe if there’s one drama that actually deserves appreciation as well as recognition, it is Lashkara, because it has all the elements that make it worth watching like good story, amazing characters, flawless acting & direction!

Well, Nikki played her part well & did everything that snatched away Bubbly’s happiness, peace of mind & most importantly her position in that house as well as her respect in Nasreen’s eyes. Sunny was just doing what he thought Bubbly was telling him to do. I seriously feel for Sunny a lot, he had already been in hot waters because of his love for Bubbly & once again he lost literally everything – from his pigeons that he was so passionate about to now his freedom which he is entitled to. Sunny was just being impulsive & he thought things through but all in wrong direction & it was sad seeing him & Bubbly falling prey to Nikki & ending up becoming her victims!

I really hope Nikki wasn’t in love with Sunny in the past & seeing his love for Bubbly, she developed this hatred for her? This could be a possibility behind this resentment that she has towards Bubbly but I am sure there’s more to it. I just got that feeling after seeing her overall behaviour with & towards Akram because it is very clear that she not only doesn’t respect him, she doesn’t love him either. It is too obvious that Akram is more like a burden to her & she just puts up with him unhappily, even though he does exactly what Nikki says to please her but still, she has not given him any status in her life which again brings me to my point that may be she was in love with someone who was in love with Bubbly? Or it could be just on the basis of jealousy? We’ll have to wait & watch.

Well, Sunny reached Bubbly’s house & she just didn’t know what she should do. It took literally 1 sight of Bubbly & Sunny together for Nasreen to believe that Bubbly was guilty of cheating on Feeka. I so wished & assumed that she’d give Bubbly a benefit of doubt but what she saw & heard clouded her judgment. It was sad that Bubbly could not prove her point & she could not really convince Nasreen that she had nothing to do with Sunny. Kulsoom did feel that Bubbly was in trouble but because Muneer thought she was just being paranoid, he brushed her concerns off. May be because Muneer underestimates Kulsoom or fails to see her as the sort of a mother who might be so instinctive, may be that is why he thought it was all in her head, but I liked that situation because no matter what happens or how happy & settled a child may seem, parents are always worried for them & it was depicted perfectly in these episodes.

Nasreen took away everything from Bubbly, she distanced herself from her but even she knew that Bubbly was Feeka’s weak point, she was his life, she meant everything to him & she was all that Feeka ever wanted, that is why she couldn’t do anything to Bubbly. I loved how it was elaborated that Bubbly lost all the confidence she had while Feeka was still fighting for her & taking stands for her. Bubbly despite having such a strong support of her husband couldn’t really take pride in it because she now felt like a culprit every time she faced Nasreen. I am glad that Bubbly chose to fight Nikki, even though she didn’t say anything to Nasreen, she just knew that Nikki was responsible for everything that happened & kept on reminding Nikki that she will face the consequences for all that she has done. Even though Nasreen left Bubbly because of Feeka, I so hope Feeka doesn’t doubt Bubbly ever because she won’t be able to handle it & most importantly how Feeka will react to it is another story!

I liked how in the middle of such a complicated situation, they gave us those cute Feeka Bubbly moments where they were just being newly weds, totally in love with each other. It was heart breaking to see that sadness & that fear in Bubbly’s eyes because she wanted to cry for help but was too scared to harm Feeka with the truth. It was phenomenally elaborated that Bubbly kept on sinking in depression because she now had to put up an act in front of Feeka that everything was alright but in reality it was not. Bubbly also had to live in fear that it would take only 1 statement from Nikki & it will ruin her life. I want to see how Bubbly will fight all this because I am sure she is capable of doing that!

I can’t wait for the upcoming episodes. Saba Hameed, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Imran Ashraf & Ushna Shah have made this drama what it is & Saba Faisal, Noor ul Hassan & the actors playing the roles of Nikki & Akram have supported them phenomenally as well. The way they have elaborated the emotions is beyond amazing because while watching them you actually understand what they are going through. Everyone associated with this team has done an amazing job. I will commend the writer & director for bringing in those fractions of reality on screen in such a convincing manner because if you actually take a general look at the overall story & setting of this drama, you do feel it is a bit far from reality which actually makes it a fantastic drama material. Lashkara is just amazing. Please share your thoughts!

Lashkara Episode 1 Review – A Brilliant Beginning!

Ohkay so, the writing of Zafar Mairaj, direction of Kashif Nisar & the production of Six Sigma; Lashkara commenced last night on ARY Digital & had quite an interesting start. It is commendable how the life of inner-city residents of Lahore was brought to limelight. I must say, I loved the way they showed the typical dynamics of any ‘mohalla’ where there’s a queen of hearts & has quite a lot of admirers.

Bubbly (Ushna Shah) is your typical girly girl, totally into herself, conscious about her beauty & knows how to use it as a weapon. Bubbly knows that she is beautiful & since she takes care of herself so keenly, she doesn’t mind using it to her advantage. Even though Bubbly got such sort of an introduction, it was never once suggested that she was manipulative or conniving. Bubbly is sweet & innocent but she definitely is not gullible or naive. Bubbly lives in a joint family system with her father Muneer (Noor ul Hassan), mother Kulsoom (Saba Faisal), brother Iqbal, Taya Jee, Tayi Jee, their daughter Saima & son Guddu.

Lashkara Episode 1 Review - A Brilliant Beginning!

Taya Jee is a tailor & Muneer is a dyer. Even though both the families have very different mindsets & perspectives, it was interesting to see how they all lived in peace & harmony. Taya & Tayi have adorned their daughter Saima with the jewel of education & that is why, when it came to finding a suitor for her, the fact that the guy who was coming to see Saima was well-educated was enough for them to be contented. Kulsoom has raised Bubbly & Iqbal in a very different manner, may be it has a lot to do with the sort of background Kulsoom comes from, even though it wasn’t covered but her mannerism was enough of an evidence. Kulsoom has raised Bubbly with some very stereotypical standards & she supports Bubbly’s self-obsession by taking care of every little thing that draws her attention especially if it is beauty related. Even though the entire ‘beauty remedy’ scenario was a little stretched but I liked how everyone was involved into it because it ended up becoming a way to introduce their characters a bit more elaborately.

Lashkara Episode 1 Review - A Brilliant Beginning!

Saima is a brilliant student & is preparing to appear in CSS exams & she has her parent’s full support. I loved that scene where Saima’s mother tries to sell a face cream to her ever-busy bookworm daughter & consequently, ends up seeking help of Kulsoom & Bubbly who excel at all those remedies to knock the zit out. Even though it was subtly suggested that Kulsoom was a bit uneasy after finding out about the ‘kabil rishta’ that was under talks for Saima but I loved how she did everything to make Saima look presentable, just the way she would do when the time for Bubbly’ll arrive.

Well, talking about Bubbly’s admirers. She has one at Taya Jee’s tailoring shop, Nazeer the tailor. Then there’s Sunny (Imran Ashraf) who is her neighbor & will even learn English because Bubbly said so. Then there is Feeka (Mohsin Abbas Haider) now trying hard to be known as Chaudry Rafique who I guess has acquired some wealth lately & made quite an appearance to impress Bubbly.

Lashkara Episode 1 Review - A Brilliant Beginning!

I must say the way the mohalla rivalry was shown between Sunny & Feeka was hilarious. Sunny was obviously jealous but couldn’t stop belittling Feeka because he could see that he was doing a little too well for Sunny’s liking. The way everyone welcomed Feeka with warm hugs & then a spy informed him about Bubbly was so amusing. It actually looked like they brought all those real life dynamics to life which happen in each & every corner of every single city.

Bubbly made quite an impression on the guests who were visiting to meet Saima & unfortunately, they ended up putting forth a proposal for Bubbly. Let’s see what her reaction will be.

Overall, the introductory episode was refreshing, interesting, amusing & everything nice. I enjoyed the way the characters were introduced & how their mindsets were elaborated. Every single actor was in their element & the direction was superb too. I loved those camera angles, those vibrant colors, styling of every single character, it screamed Lahore to me & I loved it. Ushna Shah, Imran Ashraf & Mohsin Abbas Haider, all of them were amazing, even though Ushna got the most coverage in this episode but the boys did extremely well in their limited screen time too, well enough to let us know how their characters are going to be like. I liked the way Bubbly’s character was styled, like even though she is very fashionable, her makeup & overall look still suggested that she comes from a not-so-modern background, like there was this lack of finesse in her makeup which exactly showed that she may be up-to-date with every latest trend, she was still not too refined. I simply love watching dramas like these & since the first episode has skyrocketed my expectations; let’s hope it continues to impress us ahead too. Please share your thoughts about the very first episode of Lashkara.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Lal Ishq Episodes 9,10,11 Review – Fatherhood Saga

These three episodes were also laced with superb dialogues, amazing performances, wonderful script and well flowing story. There were a few scenes though in which Faryal Mehmood’s (Mahi) acting seemed forced especially where she was telling Rameen about her brother’s love story and also when she was taunting him. It was meant to be a sister’s concern for her brother but it looked heartless and insulting. Everyone else including her shone throughout in rest of the three episodes.

Story wise, things are keeping pace and the thrill alive. Bali has advertised a reward of five lacs for finding Jajji in hope that his kids would be reunited with him. Mehr Chiragh’s seasoned eyes are suspecting something fishy but his guess is that it must be Iqbal’s brother who is called Jajji. Mojoo and the real Jajji tried to negate that thought as well as they could but Mehr Chiragh did not seem fully convinced. Waseem Abbas is doing a brilliant job as the cunning and seasosoned Mehr Chiragh who has a deep rooted grief for his murdered son which he disguises as black humour.

Mehr Punar is also amazingly well played by Aabi Khan as the conflicted young man whose mother has instilled in his every bone the seed of revenge for his father’s mother, yet life and its beauties keep on pulling him towards them: His expressions are always on point. He is desperate to kill Bali so he can get on with the business of living his own life. His mother did say that because he is in love, she will take away the responsibility of killing his father’s murderer away from him, but in actual she was making him feel guilty and has succeeded fully. Mahi is trying to talk him out of this bloodshed but it did not work.

Hukum ka beta Bali ko mar kay phansi charh jai ga toh kia Hukum aik bar phir nahi mar jayein gay or Hukum ki beti ko yeh nahi laga ga kay is bar Hukum ko un ki biwi nay mara hai

One thing that stands out in the play is that both Mahi and Rameen are outspoken and headstrong and both Farhad and Punar are obedient and duty bound sons. Jajji tried to send the kids back to America but Rameen would not hear anything about that and his father had to give in.

Lal Ishq Episodes 9,10,11 Review - Fatherhood Saga

After a lot of thought, Jajji decided to call Yawar Kamal and ask what he needed from him. On meeting and seeing his determination, Yawar tried to convince Bali that Jajji has become their father now and won’t give up those kids but the revengeful and blood thirsty Bali has woken up once again and wants to go over Jajji’s dead body to reach his kids.

I am sorry Zuhra but I am not in control

Jajji truly loves Farhad and Rameen like his own and it will be traumatic for the kids to know that he is not their real father but this matter can be solved peacefully. The kids are old enough to understand the situation and even help their father out of it. They are not babies that Bali will just snatch away from Jajji and keep them in his home.

Punar and his mamoo have finally located Bali but Yawar Kamal comes in the way with his men and everyone gets hurt during the point blank firing. Mehrunnisa however is still more concerned about Bali’s murder than the fact that her only son and only brother could be fatally hurt. This whole story is weaved around one woman’s wrath and revenge who would not forget the death of her beloved husband.

Lal Ishq Episodes 9,10,11 Review - Fatherhood Saga

The next episode brings Bali and Jajji face to face can’t wait to see how that one goes.

Lal Ishq Episodes 6,7,8 Review – Superb Dialogues

These three episodes of Lal Ishq were mesmerizing to say the least. There were powerful dialogues, strong performances and emotionally packed scenes. All the actors were fully inside the skin of their characters and that made the play a delight to watch. It’s not a mild or entertaining drama but one where the storyline engulfs you in its twists and turns. Another thing that stands out is that no character is truly evil. They all have their positive reasons for doing all that they are. They believe in what they are doing and follow their hearts. From Bali who truly regrets murdering Hukum to Mehrunnisa who is doing all this for the love of her late husband to Yawar Kamal whose heart truly feels for Bali to Jajji who hid Bali’s kids from him for their own sake, they are all extremely loyal human beings and that somehow makes you relate to them and their actions.

Story wise, Farhad was able to convince Mehrunnisa of his love and impressed by his strength and love, she invited his father. When Jajji got to know, he immediately put two and two together and warned his son to stay away from Mahi. Farhad agreed, for the sake of the love he had received from Jajji all his life. Rameen on the other hand tried every tactic including emotional blackmailing which as she had guessed worked perfectly and their father agreed to go ask for the love of his son’s life. He was apprehensive that someone will recognize him and tried to send Majid in his place. Mehrunnisa was not taking any of it and he had to go for the meeting himself which went well and the two love birds eventually got engaged. Mehr Chiragh tried to recognise Jajji from his groggy memory and could get there but barely since it seems Jajji has changed his appearance since running away with Bali’s kids, especially his blue eyes which would have been very characteristic of him.

All the actors are amazing in the drama and even the supporting seem to have been born for doing their respective roles. Be it Yawar Kamal or Mamoo Munir or Majid uncle, they are all fit for their on screen characters. It’s hard to decide which is the best supporting actor in the drama but if I had a guess, it would be mamoo Munir who is undoubtedly the best of the best. At times it’s hard to remember he is acting in the role. He is holding his own in front of Saba Hameed and Waseem Abbas and performing totally at par with them. His love story with Yawar Kamal’s wife Fakhira was revealed in the seventh episode and the it was a delight to watch the strong and manly mamoo Munir reduces to crying at the mention of his old lover and his wish for her to know he was looking cute.

This drama deserves all the praises it is getting but there was one loophole. If Farhad’s family was there just to ask for Mahi’s hand, how come everyone was already dressed for the occasion. It seemed like the bride, groom and all guests were ready with stage set and it was not decided whether the families would go ahead with the proposal or not. It was a glaring discrepancy in an otherwise brilliant episode.

Stay tuned for more on this amazing piece of scripting, directing and acting.

Lal Ishq Episodes 6,7,8 Review - Superb Dialogues

Lal Ishq Episodes 12,13,14 Review – Awesome

As always, these episodes of Lal Ishq were absolutely flawless. The characters are eccentric, difficult, confused and yet so relatable, so endearing. To be honest, for quite a long time, this is the only drama that keeps you occupied in a trance for its full duration. There is a genius at work behind it and thus all the actors are absolutely perfect in their characterization. I wonder why is it not getting more appreciation than all the silly ones out there who have no substance to offer.

So Ansa Mehrunnisa is still herself and both her brother and son are hurt but she is stuck in time where Bali’s death to avenge Hukum’s murder is the only thing that will make her happy. Her ego is sky high and she is more patriarchal than any male landlord could ever be. In her eyes, revenge is above all other relations, even those who who are her own flesh and blood.

The way all characters are entwined is just amazing. They all shot at eachother when none of them really wanted to. Yawar Kamal was pained to hurt Punar and vice versa but the grip of Hukum’s murder is so strong that it has overtaken all the good feelings of today.

Punar and Rameen have both felt attraction for eachother but the “mard ka bacha” is just so shy and humble when it comes to expressing her feelings whereas Rameen is the strong one who is enjoying the attention and also seeing Punar uncomfortable. Aabi Khan is just amazing as the loving, shy, obedient Mehr Punar who is pretending to be aggressive and revengeful to make his controlling mother happy. Every expression and dialogue he delivers is just flawless.

Bali and Jajji have finally reached truce. Till they had not met, they were both suspicious of eachother but when they met, had a vent out of pent up emotions by hitting eachother, they could connect on a very sentimental level. They saw that both of them felt immense love and care for Farhad and Rameen and understood eachother much better. Bali has agreed to let his kids keep on thinking of Jajji as Iqbal, their father. He felt it was a small price to pay for the sacrifices Jajji has done for his children and he is filled with gratitude. In his eyes, Zohra’s death has settled his score with the Mehrs and they have nothing more to do with him. Little does he know that they are still blood thirsty for him.

Lal Ishq Episodes 12,13,14 Review - Awesome

Mahi wants to delay her marriage because she thinks she can stop Punar from killing Bali and getting murdered by him or his men or get punished by the state for murder. Even though Mehrunnisa does not pay any heed to what Mahi or anyone in the household thinks for that matter, Mahi still wants to do everything she can to put an end to this saga of bloodshed and let her brother lead a normal life. She has convinced Rameen of her cause and we will see in the next episode if she can get her proper message across to Farhad well and whether he would support her in this decision or not.

Lal Ishq Episodes 1-3 Review – Another World Altogether

This drama which is a sequel of Landa Bazar, a Khalil ur Rehman Qamar drama that was aired 15 years ago transports you into another world altogether. The writer and producer have tried to incorporate that story into the new social set up of today brilliantly. The new generation is shown to be more enlightened and advanced, yet still weaved into a complicated web of love, revenge and dynasty. It is not an entertainment play. Your heart and mind becomes heavy as it is about what is possibly the darkest side of human emotions. It would be a little too gloomy if not for some characters’ natural wit and a shady sense of humor. The credit for providing comic relief goes to Waseem Abbas, who has taken it on brilliantly. The veteran actor never fails to impress with his impeccable dialogue delivery and total ownership of the character that he is in and this play is no exception. The other experienced stars including Saba Hameed, Babar Ali, Kashif Mehmood, Tauqeer Nasir are all in full awe inspiring moods. The newcomers are all relatively new faces but they are also doing quite well in their respective characters.

The first three episodes have shown the aftermath of age old murder of Mehar Hukum, where his widow has been keeping constant fasts, praying wholeheartedly for revenge and nurturing the seed of hatred with more care in her heart than any other feeling, including motherly instincts. She had been raising her son with the sole intention of killing Baali, the man who killed her husband. She is single minded to the point of crime and loved her late husband to the point of self destruction. Her son Mehar Punaar, played by Aabi Khan has imbibed her hatred, her aggression and her revenge in the truest possible way, while her daughter, who has just returned from America after three years, tries to talk sanity and patience and self preservation with both her mother and brother, but to no avail.

Mehar Charagh, the grandfather played by Waseem Abbas is also helpless in the face of his daughter in law’s wrath. It was him on whom Baali had initially attacked but he survived and his son got killed when he was on a revenge spree from Baali. Babar Ali is nailing the role of Baali perfectly. He has been released from jail after serving his term which Hukum’s family had initially mistaken for death penalty. He is trying to gain footage in the world which is now alien to him. He has come from Rahimyar Khan jail to Lahore and is looking for his children whom Jajji took away after his wife’s death. He is still aggressive and voilent but age has certainly mellowed him down and he is quite woeful over the fact.

Another twist is that both of Baali’s kids and Hukum’s daughter Maahi were studying together in America and Maahi and Baali’s son Farhad are in love with each other. While they are still oblivious to each other’s paternal identity, Maahi has become quite disheartened at the state of hatred and revenge she finds her mother and brother in. She has decided to warn Farhad to stay away from her as she herself intends to do. She does not want him to get entangled in the game of life and death her family are playing.

Stay tuned to see how these two generations come to terms with both their pasts and futures.

Lal Ishq Episode 5 Review – The Deadly Brother Sister Duo

So this was a good but non happening episode of Lal Ishq. We cannot judge this drama in the usual way regarding realism and practicality since the theme is totally different. The story is about people who are quite detached from the urbanised societies of today and who lived and died within their tall havelis all entangled in their ancestors’ stories of love and hate and crime which they pass on to the next generation religiously. So we will also discuss it in that fantasised state of mind, like we are watching an old classical novel unfolding right in front of our eyes, with some very thoughtful and witty dialogues to pique up the interest.

Mehrunnisa’s brother mamoo Munir has arrived who is equally deadly and even more aggressive than his sister. He is all ready to sacrifice his time, effort and even life in search of Bali which she thinks Mehr Punar is not proving to be good at. His dialogues were very witty and his character instantly likeable. A simple rural young man who stands up for his blood, even if he had to sacrifice his childhood friend for it once. He is not playing any games, rather he seriously believes shooting someone point blank is how conflicts are resolved. His short conversations with both Mehr Chiragh and his sister were very entertaining.

The rest of the characters are pretty much up to the same as last time. Farhad and Mahi have just started to weave dreams after Mehrunnisa agreed to meet his father. Mehr Punar is still in search of Bali whom he could not recognise when he came face to face with him. The school master and shopkeeper are still trying to protect Bali.

One interesting development was that Jajji has finally recognised that Mahi is the daughter of Mehr Hukum and the revenge spree her family is on leads to Farhad’s own biological father. He was extremely upset and really wanted to protect Farhad and take him as away from Mahi’s family as he possibly can but he did not come out clear with them. His way was bound to make Farhad and Rameen curious, upset and ultimately rebellious and rightly so.

Yawar is shown playing chess with Mehr Chiragh after sometime and he wanted Yawar to reveal the whereabouts of Bali. Yawar pleaded on his behalf but that only led to frustration and Chirag’s conversation shows that even he himself wants Bali dead and that he cannot forgive the murder of his only son.

Stay tuned to see how the next episode of Lal Ishq turns out to be

Lal Ishq Episode 5 Review - The Deadly Brother Sister Duo

Lal Ishq Episode 4 Review – Powerful Performances

This was a beautiful episode packed full of amazing performances. It was more about character revealing than story building but that is perfectly fine because it was done brilliantly. It’s good to know a lot more about the characters and how they handle the situation in their own unique ways. They are also very naive about the other person’s potential and that is what is giving suspense to the whole play.

So the emphasis of the episode was on Farhad as he decided to pay no heed to Maahi’s warnings and went on to meet Mehr un Nisa himself.  What followed next was a beautiful demonstration of the fact that despite being entangled in hatred and revenge, Mehr un Nisa still believes in love and the power it holds over human mind and heart. She felt no need to hide her glee at the fact that a man was so besotted by her daughter. No drama, no insanity, just pure logic and heartfelt wishes of a mother. Hats off to Mehrunnisa in that scene. The meeting between Mehr Punar and Farhad was also brilliantly written and executed in excellence as they both shook hands and stood tall. Farhad was not intimidated by him and Punar not small mindedly jealous of him. The later brother sister conversations in both households were also amazing. These youngsters make you forget that their dark and murderous pasts are looming over them and will soon take over their lives completely. For now, all four of them are so young and fresh and so full of love and hope.

Mehr Punar has some inkling that Bali has been around the paan shop and in the old master’s house. At the moment, he is only being saved from the young blood’s wrath due to the shopkeeper’s loyalty to him and the teacher’s dementia. Bali himself is only occupied with finding the whereabouts of his kids at the moment. His life has come to a standstill. It seems as if he had paid Jajji to look after his kids but now cannot find a trace of either of them. Babar Ali is doing a good job as a convicted murderer who is crying and longing for his children. Such are the complexities of this life. He took away one father from his unborn kids and is in deep pain to find his own offsprings now.

Saba Hameed and Waseem Abbas were phenomenal as always. The youngsters also impressed today, especially Faryal Mehmood. It was a surprise to see her emoting so well especially in her scene with her mother.

The next episode seems to bring some serious developments. Stay tuned..
