Malkoo is a famous Pakistani Punjabi singer known for his folk and pop songs. Some of his hit tracks include Kala Jora, Kala Chashma, Majburi, Rul Teh Gaey Aan, and others. He recently gained massive popularity after singing the song Nak Da Koka about former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. One of Malkoo’s most successful platforms is his digital YouTube channel, where his songs receive millions of views. Besides this, he is also known for conducting concerts worldwide.
Recently, Malkoo appeared on GNN’s program Dais Book. During the show, he revealed that Fiza Ali had cleverly taken his song and released it under her own name.
Talking about the incident, Malkoo said, “There was a song that was my wife’s favorite, and injustice was done to that song. I made the song with Fiza Ali—yes, the same Fiza Ali who speaks a lot on TV. It was my wife’s favorite. She committed complete injustice to my song. She took the song from me for listening but then released it on her own. People make very big claims on TV, but they turn out to be frauds. Fiza became a hit singer because of us, her solos are always flop. Who is hit in Punjabi singing? Malkoo is a hit, Mazhar Rahi is a hit, Zeeshan Rokhri is a hit. Malika-e-Jazbaat or Tragedy Queen is a slang term used to describe any actress who is known to perform sorrowful and emotional roles. In our country not many actresses are given this title. Our showbiz history starts from films and despite film is a commercial medium with loud acting and over emotional sequences a handful of actresses got this title.
The lady, who is almost unanimously known as Malika-e-Jazbaat in films, is the late Nayyar Sultana. Nayyar Sultana started her career as heroine, and later reverted to character roles mostly of mother and bhaabi. Interestingly it was her character roles that strengthened her fame as Malika-e-Jazbaat rather than her roles of heroine. In the roles of heroines she was a normal lady, but in character roles she was mostly a har haal mein khush rehnay waali mazloom rotti dhoti aurat which earned her the title of Malika-e-Jazbaat from film journalists.
Nayyar Sultana
Coming to TV dramas, its popularity started in decade of 80’s and they are famous for their realistic acting, so despite some big names like Uzma Gilani, Khalida Riasat, Madeeha Gauhar, Roohi Baano who are famous for doing serious roles flawlessly, none is labeled as Malika-e-Jazbaat. The trend is almost same till today, where despite a very vibrant drama industry none of the female artist is known as Malika-e-Jazbaat.
But if we want to consider anyone for that title, which one is the most suitable. Let’s discuss some of the most eligible ones for this title.
Yasira Rizvi
Mostly appears in depressing roles, ‘Mann ke moti’, ‘baandi’, ‘kaash aisa ho’ every time she has lots of miseries and her face is dismal and depressed. She is favorite choice of producers who want to make a depressing drama. She has appeared in a light role in film Aaina, but was unimpressive.
Samiya Mumtaz
Samiya is a very talented artist, who can put life to even a lifeless character. Her first appearance in PTV drama Zard Dopehar was a small one but still she was noticed. She started her career from theatre and time and again she has proved how mature she is in acting. Samiya took a long break from acting and focused more on her farm house, as she is a farmer of organic food.
She returned to screen from super hit ‘Meri Zaat Zarra Bey Nishaan’, audience still remember the sobs and tears of character of Saba. Since then there is no ending to suffering of Samiya in dramas, in Maaye Ni, Haal-e-Dil, Zindagi Tere Bina we can see plenty of emotionally charged scenes of Samiya.
Ayeza Khan
Ayeza Khan started her career at a very young age, I first noticed her in Ramazan special drama ‘’Faiz Manzil Ke Rozedaar’ in a light role in 2007. From past few years Ayeza has been first choice of drama producers and done some big projects. But most of the times she is a ‘mazloom roti dhoti’ girl. She had shed liters of tears on screen, which if collected are enough to flood television screens.
Maria Waasti
Maria is a versatile actress she has performed all types of roles in her career which started in mid 90’s. Lately Maria is also coming in roles which qualify her to be a ‘Malika-e-Jazbaat’. In Baandi, Kalmoohi, Rehaii she is always a ‘bechaari’ alone to face the cruelties of world.
Nimra Bucha
Nimra started her career from drama Daam in 2010. Since then she is always casted in roles of a ‘bechaari’ woman, be it ‘Mera Yaqeen’, ‘Sabz Pari Laal Kabootar’, ‘Ek Nazar Meri Taraf’ her sorrows and miseries are endless. She is seen weeping regardless she is performing a rich lady role or a poor lady role. The only time I had seen her in a light role was a small role in drama Paarsa and she seemed misfit for that.
Sajal Ali
Sajal Ali well she has performed all types of roles in relatively short span of times. She cannot be totally labeled as ‘roti dhoti larki’. But she also loves to shed tears in dramas, in ‘Meri Laadli’, ‘Aasmanon Pe Likhha’, ‘Gohar-e-Nayab’ she justifies herself for the title of Tragedy Queen.
Aisha Khan
Aisha Khan is another big name, in her recent dramas she has done a variety of different and powerful roles but few years ago she can be seen as ‘tasway bahatee aurat’ in many dramas, like ‘Maanay nay eh dil’, ‘Bol Meri Machhli’, ’Ijazat’, ‘Meray Charagar’, ’Mujhe Apna Bana Lo’, ’Tum Ho Ke Chupp’. In some dramas like ‘Maanay na yeh dil’ and ‘Mujhey Apna Bana lo’ she was not a mazloom larki still she was seen weeping and sobbing frequently.
Sohai Ali Aabro
Sohai in a short span of time has always appeared as a ‘roti dhoti larki’ despite the fact she never played the role of a ‘mazloom larki’ but she always appear with a dismal face on screen. Rishtey Kucch Adhore Se, Khoya Khoya Chand, Tanhai are prime examples
That’s in my view is a potential list for Tragedy Queens of our dramas, hopeful to write something on Shehanshah-e-Jazbaat (Tragedy Kings) too.
Malika-e-Aaliya is a recently concluded serial on Geo Tv which achieved the highest TRP for a drama aired at 9 PM. Cashing on this popularity now season 2 of Malika-e-Aaliya is starting from 9th February on Geo TV at 9:00 PM every Monday and Tuesday. Like season 1 Maria Waasti will be leading the season 2.

Majid Jahangir; the ‘Fifty Fifty’ comedian who is an inspiration for many comedians in our country is in dire need to financial assistance owing to his ailing health. After this news was aired Malik Riaz has announced that he will be bearing the actor’s medical expenses.
Early Thursday morning, Junaid Akram, a stand-up comedian who looks up to Jahangir, urged his friends and followers on social media to come forward and assist the veteran actor in whatever way possible.
The comedian’s funds have run dry, having been spent on medical bills, after he lost partial function of his body to paralysis almost three years ago. Some state officials had then stepped up to help him in his treatment.

The permanent representative of Pakistan to the united Nations, Maleeha Lodhi said that the government haa to take more steps for the empowerment of women in Pakistan.
In a briefing to United Nations at the 61st session of the Commission on the Status of Women at UN Headquarters, Maliha Lodhi highlighted that the theme of the conference was to empower women economically.
“This is what gives you confidence, makes you a productive citizen, and teaches you how to assert your rights, before, I talk about how parents should raise independent girls I want to speak about how boys should be brought up,”she said.
She also added that parents should tell their boys to respect women, something that even our religion preaches.
She said that families have legitimate concerns when they send their women for work as the environment at workplaces is not as accepting yet.
“Despite that it is heartening to see so many women working in the media, as lawyers and at other places.”
She said that the main purpose of the event was to promote positive image of Pakistan across the world.
Maleeha Lodhi is Pakistan’s permanent Representative to the United Nations but she is also someone who has always supported Pakistani talent from different sectors of showbiz. This time Maleehan Lodhi invited Fawad Khan and some other people from showbiz for a dinner in New Yorj. Fawad Khan was in the city as part of the launch of a mobile brand.

Drama Zeenat by Mirza Qaleech Baig
Zeenat was a drama from PTV Karachi centre based on a sindhi novel written by Mirza Qaleech Baig. It was dramatized by Fatima Surraiya Bajiya and directed by Muhammad Baksh Sameejo. Rabia Naureen, Mehmood Siddiqui, Ishrat Hashmi, Khalid Zaman, Zaheen Tahira, Shafi Moahamad, Mahmood Ali were in main roles. The drama was aired in mid 1980’s and was popular at that time. Mirza Qaleech Baig is termed as Shamsul Ulema for his contributions in Sindhi Literature. Mirza Qaleech Baig was born in 1853 near Thatta Sindh and passed away in 1923.

Drama Khilonay by Masood Mufti
Masood Mufti is a famous literary figure in Urdu writings. Masood Mufti has also written one novel Chehray on the separation of East Pakistan. PTV Islamabad presented a drama named Junoon based on novel Khilonay by Masood Mufti in mid 1990’s. Rubina Ashraf, Ayaz Nayek, Sajjad Kishwar and Shamim Hilali were in main roles. The drama went unnoticed and was not much popular. The play was dramatized by Mansha Yaad.

Rahain by Mansha Yaad
Mansha Yaad is a famous writer mainly in Punjabi literature. His Punjabi novel ‘Tanwan Tanwan Tara’ is adapted for a play Rahain from PTV Lahore centre. The cast for Rahein included Habib, Naseem Vicky, Saleem Sheikh, Tauqeer Nasir and others. It was directed by Tariq Jameel who earlier directed a block buster drama Aanch from PTV Karachi center earlier. Rahain was a block buster drama and earned sizeable revenue for PTV. It was also praised by critics for strong plot and story. Apart from Rahain, Mansha Yaad has also written few plays for PTV like he dramatized drama Bandhan for PTV Islamabad centre which was based on novels of Bushra Rehman. Mansha Yaad was born in 1937 and passed away in 2011.

Shaniera Akram, wife of Pakistani cricket legend Wasim Akram, turned to her social media to shed light on the Polished Man campaign that aims to portray a ‘softer side’ of men in the country and raise awareness about child abuse.
Sharing photos of some of the most prominent faces in Pakistan from a number of different fields, Shaniera wrote: “Some of the toughest men Pakistan has ever produced are showing their softer side & coloring one nail to represent the millions of children who suffer every day at the hand of an adult. Our Pakistani heroes say ‘We WILL NOT tolerate child abuse in our country’.”
“#PolishedMan campaign has been around for years & now in 2020, due to the highest level of child violence to come out of Pakistan, celebrities & sporting stars join this international campaign to show their support for children suffering in silence from child abuse in Pakistan,” she went on to say.
Shaniera encouraged other men to also join the cause and raise awareness about the rampant cases of child abuse in the country: “Talking about Child Abuse is better than not talking about Child Abuse! We need to infiltrate peoples homes in Pakistan with the necessary conversations around this topic, and if a man coloring his nail can spark a wave of awareness, then so be it!
