Ishq Parast – Khatam Shud

I am struggling to find the right words to describe what just happened here, but quite frankly, I am blank! This episode was so difficult to watch that I am not sure how to discuss it. And now that I come to think of it, the four (yes, FOUR! :D) thappars Hamza received were perhaps the only bits that actually made sense and gave me a kalejay-pay-thandak-parnay-wali feeling, but the whole episode was so horrible that I think I am running out of words to express my contempt. All I can think of is: yeh bhi koi ending hui, bhai?

First things first, allow me to rant about Zohaib! Ever since his parents died, he assumed the responsibility of running the household. He was the sole bread winner of the family. And if my memory doesn’t deceive me, he was Arsala’s ammi, abu and bhai – three in one package, right? A man of the house is supposed to make a lot of decisions, but the latest episode convinced me of the fact that Zohaib actually lacks the ability to make decisions, and quite conveniently, he does what other people tell him to do. Khaala asks him to give Arsala her share and lo and behold! Zohaib shows up with a check. When that doesn’t work, Dua, who was definitely the last person I expected to talk sense, actually comes up with the only sound solution: Arsala ko Hamza ki haqeeqat batadain! It is after Dua’s little speech that it dawns on Zohaib: I shouldn’t keep my sister in the dark, I should fetch some khula papers too, and while I am at it, I should think of some clever comebacks to wipe the smirk off my behnoi‘s face because he is outwitting me with his falsafa on ishq, junoon or whatever you call it! The only time Zohaib actually made me proud was when he slapped Hamza, not once, not twice, but THRICE! Zohaib’s thappars were the highlights of the episode and even if you didn’t follow the whole show, I have to say that you shouldn’t miss the three tareekhi thappar!

You might be wondering about the fourth thappar I mentioned earlier on. Well, this one came from Khaala, and though I am proud of Khaala for slapping Hamza, I still have many issues with Khaala and her presence in the play. I think Khaala enjoyed more than her fair share of airtime throughout this play so I would have liked the last episode to be a little less Khaala-centric. Well, let’s just say that the writer and I don’t exactly see eye to eye so this episode had a lot to do with Khaala, and this time around she even recounted her tale of misery – did I mention that I couldn’t care less?

And of course, allow me to rant about Dua! Dua, Dua, Dua – now where do we start? The story started to go downhill when Dua couldn’t bring herself to tell Zohaib that Hamza is her junooni ex. Had Zohaib been one of those typical judgmental husbands, I would have understood, but the fact is that Zohaib accepted her with her past, and always reassured her of his constant support. And in this episode, I was taken aback by Dua’s guts when she began to harangue Zohaib about not supporting her when she needed him. I agree that Zohaib should have been by her side and all, but Dua seems to forget that it’s because of her that Zohaib is in this mess and his sister is living with a rapist, so I think she should have been the one apologizing to him and consoling him. And hey, what’s with the time lapse? I had no idea that she spent a good six months at her mother’s?

If the talaaq kay badle talaaq dialogue, coupled with that check-tearing action was supposed to look ‘cool’ and ‘thrilling’, I hate to disappoint: it wasn’t! I didn’t exactly get the point of that fiasco because the ending didn’t have much to do with it. Zohaib and Arsala had finally made up their mind that they are going to tell Arsala the truth, but they couldn’t utter a single word when Arsala stormed into the house to tell Zohaib off for giving those khula papers? And had Zohaib been sensible, he would have talked to Arsala about Hamza before handing over the khula papers. You see, this is how confusing and clumsily written and handled this whole episode was.

11745559_851200564928917_1675093337092537967_n

The writer relied on two famous last episode features: a) eavesdropping b) death. I said this about Khaala and I have to say the same about her bhaanji that in logon kay kaan ‘normal’ nahe hain because it wasn’t humanly possible to overhear the conversation between Khaala and Hamza from Arsala’s room. Also, I was left dumbfounded when Arsala didn’t react! I understand that she was in a state of shock because after losing her one in a million brother, the comfort and luxuries of her home, she only had Hamza to fall back on so the revelation that Hamza was using her all along struck her pretty bad, but I was expecting some sort of reaction, what about you guys?

As all last episodes go, the bad guy is supposed to get his comeuppance so Hamza’s death was obviously something I was looking forward to, but Arsala’s death is beyond my comprehension. We are expected to believe that while Hamza claimed to be ‘ishq parast’ which he clearly wasn’t, Arsala belonged to the lot of ishq parasts as well because Hamza was her ishq? If this tragic ending was supposed to strike a chord with the audience and make us shed tears, I hate to break this to Team Ishq Parast that this ending didn’t move me at all – it simply left me with a really bad aftertaste!

Jab insaan kay saaray saharay khatam hojatay hain tou who samajhdaar hojata hai. Arsala’s transition has been convincing and real. When I started watching this play, I was not very fond of Arsala. Spoiled by her doting brother and Khaala, and with no one to admonish her for her eccentric, extraordinary ways, only a few could find that ‘we can relate’ factor when it came to Arsala’s character. It is after Zohaib and Dua’s marriage that I actually took a liking to Arsala. I was thinking that Arsala, like any insecure SIL, would give Dua some tough time, but she actually proved to be a cool and friendly nand. I loved Arsala and Zohaib’s bonding, but needless to say, Hamza’s entry changed everything. On the face of it, Hamza was a loving and sincere husband so obviously, Arsala fell in love with him and couldn’t stand anyone doubting his character. Her decision to move out, managing on her own, and her brother’s apparent aloofness changed her, and the once bubbly, tantrum-throwing Arsala was replaced with someone very mature and level headed. Arsala meant no harm and her character was one of the good things about this play so I wish I could ask the writer what on earth was he thinking when he decided to kill Arsala?

And on this sickening note, Ishq Parast comes to an end. I can’t believe that the characters we’d grown to love were reduced to senseless beings we could barely even recognize. I would like to talk about Hamza’s character here. When I started watching this play, I was looking forward to seeing how Hamza’s character shapes up because our plays don’t usually discuss the plight of people coming from broken homes, so I was thinking that they would show something real and relate-able, something that breaks the stereotypes, but I hate to say that nothing of that sort happened. The least they could do was keep his character grey-shaded; they could show that though he is insecure and aggressive, he is caring and sensitive too. I feel sad that Hamza’s character turned plain evil and had nothing to offer except for dhamkiyan, saazishain, and of course: a splitting headache!

What obliterated this play was definitely the rape. I hadn’t given up on this drama before that because I was hoping that they would show Hamza falling in love with Arsala and letting go of his thirst for revenge, but that one ‘twist’ totally ruined it for me. It’s no news that the subject of rape is becoming increasingly common in our plays. Speaking of the topic of abuse, there’s no doubt about the fact that sweeping it under the rug won’t make it disappear, and it’d be insensitive of the literate lot to turn a blind eye to this glaring reality, but our drama makers must pause and ask themselves: are they raising awareness the way they proudly claim to, or is this subject being embellished to no end? Let’s get one thing straight – you can’t just dish out an abuse-based play in the name of ‘entertainment’. The viewers are not shallow at all, and yes, we do crave entertainment, but that doesn’t stop us from watching dramas that speak about real life, taboo topics because had that not been the case, plays like Pani Jaisa Pyar, Mora Piya, Roag would have failed to garner favorable reviews. Abuse-based plays should ONLY deal with abuse – the physical and psychological impacts of abuse on the victims, how they deal with this trauma, how they pick themselves up and how the perpetrators of this heinous crime are punished in the end. I strongly believe that an issue as sensitive as rape should NEVER be used as a plot point to move the story forward or excite the audience. Coming to the play in question, Ishq Parast was supposed to be a ‘family entertainer’, it was supposed to focus on a bunch of grey shaded characters with their share of flaws and strengths, and it was supposed to make us smile and feel good by the end of the day, but I’m afraid that team Ishq Parast failed their audience.

Talking about performances, Ahmed Ali and Syed Jibran were the stars of the show. I first saw Ahmed Ali in Dusri Biwi, where he played a supporting character,  a junooni, psycho fiancé (how can I forget his trips to the jail). Here again, he played a similar role, and I have to say that he is a talented newbie, especially when it comes to such roles. Syed Jibran was impressive as always. Armeena is beautiful, and she acted well in a few scenes, but her performance, on the whole, left much to be desired. I think she should work on her dialogue delivery and expressions. Arij Fatyma was totally convincing as Arsala, and I loved her performance in the last episode!

How many of you followed Ishq Parast? What do you think of the ending? Voice your views .

Ishq Parast – Episode 22

Tired of watching female characters crying their eyes out? Want to see a man crying to his heart’s content? Well then, Ishq Parast’s episode 22 is just for you! I actually feel sorry for Jibran – he’s shedding real tears for a play that doesn’t even make sense!

This episode was carelessly written and clumsily handled because by the end of last week’s episode, Khaala had overheard the conversation between Hamza and Dua but this episode didn’t show how Khaala reacted to the revelation that her ideal damaad was actually her bahu’s ex! We didn’t actually get to see Khaala telling Zohaib that she knows about Hamza but all of a sudden, they showed Zohaib breaking down in front of Khaala, implying that he was aware of the fact that Khaala knows about Hamza. I mean, it’s actually very confusing! The director/writer wastes sooo many scenes for the sake of showing a bunch of pointless flashbacks but chooses to skip the conversations that should be shown!

There were a couple of comical scenes in this episode and I have to thank the team for at least making us laugh this week. What actually had me in bits was the way Khaala flipped out when she saw Zohaib on the treadmill! It’s been ages since Zohaib’s accident and I guess every sane person can see that this once perfect family witnessed and experienced things far worse than Zohaib’s accident but this lady, all of a sudden, grew over concerned about Zohaib’s little foot, which let me remind you, is perfectly fine by now! Earth to Khaala!

Another scene (that was supposed to be grave and intense) was soo hilariously done that I couldn’t help taking a screenshot! I guess it’s the background music and Ahmed Ali’s expressions that made it so funny so the screenshot won’t to justice to this comical scene but here you go!

ishlame

Zohaib says that he just wants to see Arsala happy, and if living under the delusion that Hamza loves her is what makes her happy, so be it! I expected a better approach from Zohaib because he can’t possibly be thinking that Hamza would continue to put on this show for the rest of his life and Arsala will never have the faintest idea about the fact her husband is her bhabi’s ex and has zilch feelings for her! However, the last part of the episode showed that Zohaib wants Hamza to divorce Arsala so I guess that after thinking things through, Zohaib did come to realize that even though the fact that Hamza doesn’t love her will leave Arsala shattered and inconsolable, she deserves to know the truth about the person she has so much faith in. Zohaib does realize that he made a mistake by letting Arsala go with Hamza and that’s exactly why he requested Khaala to move to Arsala’s place. Speaking of Khaala, I have gotta admit that we can’t underestimate the woman’s hearing because last week she overheard Hamza and Dua’s conversation from the terrace and this week she overheard Hamza’s taunts from her room which was at a considerable distance from where Hamza was standing but oh well, jahan itna hazm karliya hai, we’ll deal with this too!

Now that they’ve barely enough to eat and Hamza is pushing her to seek financial help from Zohaib, Arsala is gradually becoming aware of the fact that Hamza wasn’t such an angel after all! Hamza has started to show his ugly side and Arsala is clearly finding it hard to believe that while she is totally uncomfortable with the idea of asking her brother for money, Hamza doesn’t care an ounce about his honour and respect! I have to say that I really really feel for Arsala and I totally mean it! She was this vivacious, ever-smiling girl who didn’t have a care in the world, but look at her now, fretting about ghar ka kharcha, giving away her jewellery and eating leftovers! If there’s anyone who’s actually suffering, it’s Arsala because the person for whom she’s going through this couldn’t care less about her!

Saza sirf mujhay kyun milrahi hai? And who’s saying this, you may ask? Dua! Earth to Dua! Do we really have to explain this to you, darling? I mean, this qismat ka rona is coming from someone who put everything on stake and totally ruined her perfect family by keeping quiet about her deranged ex! I didn’t feel much for Dua because she got herself into this, she got Zohaib into this and worst of all, she got Arsala into this! Aur saza tou humain bhi milrahi hai, if that makes you feel better, Dua!

Right when they realized they have got nothing to show, they decided to resort to… flashbacks! Chalo, I’ll be kind here, I can understand why Zohaib and Arsala were recalling the good old days but the scene where Hamza gets those flashbacks seriously came out of nowhere – it didn’t even fit!

Am I the only one who finds it distractingly weird how Arij Fatyma’s hair colour keeps switching from natural to golden brown? How many of you are watching the show? Voice your views!

Ishq Parast – Episode 19-20

And ARY has totally lost it! Forget about providing quality ‘family’ entertainment, this channel has messed up its schedule too! According to the new Ramadan schedule, Ishq Parast was supposed to go on-air at 9:30 p.m. but all I saw on my TV screen was an overexcited Fahad Mustafa giving away some prizes so can someone explain why were they showing Jeeto Pakistan when they should’ve been showing Ishq Parast? And last week, Ishq Parast was aired twice a week so I just don’t get it: what is wrong with these people?

Coming to the episode, well, what did it offer, you may ask? A splitting headache! Yep, at this point, things have gone so horribly wrong in this serial that I can’t see it ending anytime soon because it would take ages to set things straight! The last two episodes involved many cringe-worthy dialogues and headache-inducing situations. There seems to be no light at the end of our tunnel and nothing can rescue this play at this point but I just hope and pray that the pace doesn’t go downhill- the last thing I want is for them to prolong a play that has become almost impossible for me to sit through!

So finally, Dua unveiled the truth about Hamza and oh how I wish I could applaud her honesty only if it weren’t TOO LATE!! And yes, Dua, when you say, ‘Mein nay koshish ki thi aap ko batanay ki’, I would like to interrupt and break this to you that I have a sound memory, thank God, and I for one don’t remember you ‘trying’ to disclose the fact that Hamza is your ex! I do remember a bunch of general comments she passed which merely hinted that she is against Hamza’s proposal but apart from that, no, she made no effort to unveil Hamza’s real intentions. I think what disturbs Zohaib the most is the fact that his relationship with Dua wasn’t as perfect as he considered it to be. Zohaib definitely echoed our thoughts today by making Dua realize that she is the one responsible for putting the whole family in such an abhorrently awkward situation. She had the guts to recount her nakaam love story on her wedding night but couldn’t muster up the courage to reveal the truth about Hamza, despite knowing what a gem of a person Zohaib is? This is more of a reason why I don’t feel for Dua as much as I feel for Zohaib and Arsala at the moment.

ipep19

I think  Dua’s I-have-got-nothing-to-lose speech intimidated Hamza for a while because Hamza wasn’t expecting Dua to spill the beans so soon but he went one step further and told Zohaib about what happened when he was at the hospital. They had already destroyed the play with the rape but I’m sure that they must be thinking: agar barbaad karna hai tou dil khol kay karo, so to make matters worse, Dua is expecting too! Aren’t we putting up with enough already? Dialogues like, ‘Yeh dekh lena kay tum bhi baap banne walay ho kay nahe’ are no joke and should NOT be treated that way! I don’t know why on earth this ‘who’s the father’ plot point has become increasingly common in our plays. So much for family entertainment!

Hey, I just discovered that Mohsin Ali, the writer of Ishq Parast, is the same person who penned Mora Piya, a play that went on-air some years back, starring Aamina Sheikh and Adeel Hussain. Mora Piya was an abuse-based play as well, so I guess this writer is known for his bold scripts.

So Zohaib  finds himself torn between Dua and Arsala. He has two options; either he can confront Arsala and let her know about Hamza’s real intentions, or he can zip his lips and allow things to go stay this way. The former would lead to Arsala’s heartbreak and Zohaib fears how Arsala would take this whereas the latter would mean giving Hamza an open ground for further saazishain. Zohaib has got so much to deal with and after watching this episode, I think Zohaib already feels defeated but as much as I understand his mental state, I feel that he should take some action now because his death stare is not affecting Hamza at all. I think Zohaib should be honest with Arsala because she has a right to know the truth about her husband.

I have to say that the person I truly feel for is Arsala! Since the initial episodes gave us quite a clear insight into the relationship between Arsala and Zohaib,  I can totally understand and relate to the emotional turmoil Arsala’s going through right now. She thought the world of her brother and was certain that no matter what happens, she has Zohaib to fall back on but the sudden rift between the two has left her shattered and she feels cheated. Her decision to move out made perfect sense to me and I have to say that Arsala is a changed person now- I can’t even recognize her anymore!

Khaala is greatly disturbed by the latest turn of events because she feels that she failed to play her part as the lady of the house. I think she received undue screen time in the latest episode and I found it very irritating probably because I find Shaheen Khan’s facial expressions and dialogue delivery to be artificial.

I haven’t seen the promo so if you guys have, please share what’s in store for us. Ab kia kia bardaasht karna baaqi reh gaya hai? Voice your views!

Ishq Murshid vs Jaan-e-Jahan – Most Viewed Pakistani Dramas

0

The year 2024 opened with a wave of fresh dramas with promising and unique themes. However, yet again the viewers preferred watching stories revolving around love triangles. Dramas like Ishq Murshid and Jaan-e-Jahan emerged as the undeniable favorites, even though the critics did not pass them with flying colors! Both these dramas are not the same but, some similarities say a great deal about the kind of content the viewers prefer watching.

After the massive success of dramas such as Tere Bin and Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha in 2023, it isn’t surprising that the producers continue to invest in projects that might not be the best content-wise but they attract the public because of other reasons. While those producers who experiment fail to garner ratings and mass public approval, love stories get the producers the ratings, as well as, the approval.

The Appealing Factors

Ishq Murshid and Jaan-e-Jahan both are essentially love stories with some degree of newness about them for which these dramas deserve credit. The characterizations are not typical in any way particularly because the leading ladies in both these dramas truly take the lead and have a strong personality. The male protagonists have their own set of challenges in both these dramas but at the same time both of them could have easily been the saviors yet the writers decided not to take that road.

Ishq Murshid vs Jaan-e-Jahan – Most Viewed Pakistani Dramas

The most appealing factor in both these dramas for the fans has to be the main leads. Bilal Abbas Khan and Durr-e-Fishan’s on-screen chemistry and their on-screen couple are the main reasons why viewers are drawn into the world of Ishq Murshid. While Durr-e-Fishan’s performance has failed to impress the critics, Ishq Murshid fans beg to differ. The visuals also contribute to the appeal. Durr-e-Fishan looks beautiful in every scene and Bilal Abbas makes the most of his expressive eyes. These reasons might come across as shallow to some but clearly, they are working for the majority of the viewers.

Ishq Murshid vs Jaan-e-Jahan – Most Viewed Pakistani Dramas

Jaan-e-Jahan marked the comeback of Hamza Ali Abbas who is one of the most popular Pakistani actors. This was also the comeback of Ayeza Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi’s on-screen couple after they won the hearts of the viewers in Pyare Afzal. It would be safe to say that this on-screen couple, just like that of Ishq Murshid, is the most appealing factor for many. Jaan-e-Jahan fans also find Shehram’s character likable because of his vulnerabilities. While the critics think that Shehram’s character is not written convincingly, the fans are content watching a male protagonist who is not like others often shown in Pakistani dramas.

Ishq Murshid vs Jaan-e-Jahan – Most Viewed Pakistani Dramas

In a recent interview, Hamza Ali Abbasi also pointed out that Jaan-e-Jahan’s male leads are unlike others in Pakistani dramas. He urged people to watch dramas with such male leads because such characters are positive. Ayeza Khan also pointed out how Jaan-e-Jahan’s female lead Mahnoor was playing the role that male leads usually play in Pakistani dramas. Mahnoor has ‘rescued’ Shehram more than once and he relies on her more emotionally than Mahnoor does on him.

Just like Ishq Murshid, Jaan-e-Jahan’s visual appeal also adds to its appeal. The cinematography and visuals in Jaan-e-Jahan are so mesmerizing and stunning that they elevate the viewing experience to a cinematic level of excellence. Also, the fact that Jaan-e-Jahan aired twice a week till now added to its viewership.

The Scripts & Execution

The scripts and even the execution of both these dramas leave a lot to be desired. Ishq Murshid promises to captivate its audience with its fantasy elements. Even if it’s meant to be a fantasy, the story has some noticeable issues and a long list of execution failures. Even when watched without much thought, Ishq Murshid’s script and execution make viewers question many aspects. The success of Ishq Murshid clearly shows that content is not the king! Well, at least not for the majority of drama-watching audiences. Even with all its plot holes and execution failures, the fans take the drama very seriously!

Jaan-e-Jahan had a strong and fast-paced beginning. As the story progressed, there were innumerable details that did not live up to the hype. The characterizations occasionally fall short of leaving a lasting impression. At times, the portrayal of characters lacks depth and makes the script a little too flat. While the director nailed the visual element of the drama, certain other elements in terms of execution could have been far better. From the beginning, the emotional quotient of Jaan-e-Jahan’s script outweighed the logical element.

The Fan Following

Fans of Ishq Murshid and Jaan-e-Jahan share a common fervor: an unwavering adoration for these dramas. No matter how much critics criticize the obvious flaws and weaknesses, their perspective remains unchanged. Significant numbers of viewers have been able to watch these stories through the lens of the creators. This kind of fan following proves that despite any technical flaws, when a story resonates deeply with viewers, it has the power to captivate their hearts and minds.

Undoubtedly, the selection of actors plays a pivotal role in the immense success of these dramas. The shortcomings within the storyline are often forgiven or overlooked by the loyal fan base of the lead actors in particular. Their established fan followings contribute to the popularity of the dramas, as audiences eagerly tune in to see their favorite actors.

OSTs – an Important Factor

Ishq Murshid’s OST has contributed to its popularity. The OST sung by Ahmed Jahanzeb went viral and drew more attention to the drama. The director also made use of this popularity by including this OST in the episodes more than ever. Just like the drama serial Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha, Ishq Murshid’s OST has contributed to its fanbase.

Ishq Murshid vs Jaan-e-Jahan – Most Viewed Pakistani Dramas

While Jaan-e-Jahan’s OST is equally romantic and filmy, it did not garner as much popularity as that of Ishq Murshid’s. However, the fans like the way this OST has been included as a background score to add emotional value to different scenes.

The Verdict

Ishq Murshid and Jaan-e-Jahan’s massive viewership proves there will always be room for visually pleasing love stories in Pakistani entertainment. The substantial viewership and heightened public attention that these dramas got give a profound insight into the inclinations and preferences of the audience. These ratings show societal tastes, indicating a widespread appetite for love triangles. On the other hand, dramas such as Khushbo Mein Base Khat, Standup Girl, and others do not get the same ratings. Only a select few individuals prefer watching artsy dramas, despite their often limited commercial appeal, even when these dramas are notably superior in writing and execution. That is the reason why dramas based on thought-provoking themes, and sophisticated storytelling techniques are a novelty on Pakistani channels.

As long as there is demand for formulaic plots, we will see more dramas like Jaan-e-Jahan and Ishq Murshid on TV.

Ishq Murshid Review – Is it Worth the Hype

Writer: Abdul Khaliq Khan
Director: Farooq Rind
Schedule: Sunday 8 pm on Hum TV

Let me start this review with an honest confession, I have started giving Pakistani dramas way more leverage than I did back when I started reviewing dramas and in the past few years. There are several reasons for this shift in perspective, firstly when you are not scrutinizing every single episode; you end up watching these dramas with a viewer’s perspective more than that of a critic only. There is the option of fast-forwarding as well when you are watching a drama on YouTube, which makes it easier to watch and even enjoy some dramas that you would otherwise simply give up on. And to be honest, any dramas fit the bill in a way that there is more to praise than to criticize. Also, in the past, I missed out on many ‘entertaining’ dramas because they failed to impress me in the first few weeks because I was not too willing to lower my expectations from them. Therefore, I always give dramas with some degree of potential another go, Ishq Murshid has proved to be one such drama.

First Impressions

Ishq Murshid is one of those dramas that failed to capture my attention initially mainly due to its fantastical nature. Not only did I find the storyline far from reality, but I also felt that the overall treatment given to the drama lacked authenticity. The feel of the drama goes way beyond ‘filmi’, it is more of a fairytale or the kind of story an animation would center around. Such an experiment could either result in creating magic or wonder for some viewers and others it could simply not work.

After watching the initial two episodes, I felt that the portrayals and execution seemed disconnected from real-life nuances. The overuse of lighting and perhaps filters also made it difficult to take this drama seriously. Ishq Murshid instantly reminded me of Pyar Ke Sadqay because of the treatment given to the script which goes to show that this is Farooq Rind’s signature style.

I also felt that certain supporting actors were not ideally matched to their respective roles. Since this first impression was more disappointing than promising, I decided to tune into this drama once a few more episodes went on air and I had the option to fast forward whenever I felt the need to do so. In this period, Ishq Murshid turned out to be the most-watched drama on Hum TV. It received a lot of attention from the viewers which is evident from the number of views its episodes have been getting on YouTube.

After the 10th episode went on air I decided to revisit a drama I initially gave up on entirely and I am going to be honest, I ended up watching the 10th episode first to decide whether it was enticing enough to catch up on it or not. What caught my attention more than anything else was Bilal Abbas Khan’s phenomenal performance and screen presence coupled with his amazing on-screen chemistry with Durr-e-Fishan.

Ishq Murshid Main Characters

Ishq Murshid is yet another story of a rich and influential young man falling for a girl from a middle-class family. We have watched too many such stories in our dramas lately. However, what sets this story ‘apart’ from the others is that this rich and influential man is not toxic! Yes, that is what I meant by lowering one’s standards ;) Shahmir Sikandar played impeccably by Bilal Abbas Khan (exceeding expectations) has an interesting background and he is an interesting combination of sensitive, smart, and at times manipulative. This character reminds me of Mahir from Dobara although the circumstances are poles apart Shahmir falls more or less in the same category. He is not a good guy altogether and he is not the bad guy.

Like many other scenarios in the drama, Shahmir’s decision to become Fazal Baksh had to be the most outrageous and hard-to-digest turn in the story. Also, the fact that Shahmir is the son of one of the leading politicians in the country yet no one knows what he looks like is even more impossible to digest. You have to convince yourself that this is a work of fiction and has nothing to do with reality to continue watching the drama.

Ishq Murshid Review – Is it Worth the Hype

What makes this track enticing and likable besides all of this is the emotional element of this track which is also over the top at times but somehow always resonates. Apart from this because of the way Bilal Abbas Khan has embraced this character, you cannot help but root for Shahmir. Also, his emotional connection with his mother and now his new-found family makes him a likable character. There have been times when this new connection has also been exaggerated, but that does not make Fazal Baksh less likable.

The female lead of the drama Shibra played by Durr-e-Fishan has some strong positive attributes and also a funny bone. She is ambitious, intelligent, caring and also knows how and where to draw boundaries. However, her sudden ‘closeness’ to Fazal Baksh is the most OTT element of this particular track. I must say that I find Durr-e-Fishan more well-suited for this role than for the one she is playing in Jaisay Aap ki Marzi.

Shibra’s mother and sister’s characters are not the best thing about the drama. The mother’s issue with her husband seems baseless at times and her love for Fazal Baksh is difficult to warm up to. I am certain I am not the only one who is sick of watching sisters who are poles apart and younger sisters who cannot communicate intelligently with their older siblings. Also, the fact that the performances of both the actors involved leave a lot to be desired adds to making their scenes forward-worthy!

Faraz is another character that has a lot going for it but unfortunately, the actor playing the role does not bring much to the table. I am genuinely surprised to see Srha Asghar playing a side role which is nothing more than just that! She has so much potential and deserves meatier roles. She could have done better as the sister and not the friend. Also, it is unfortunate that she is being paired with actors who are not exactly her perfect match!

Zohaib and his mother’s role provide comic relief more than anything else. There are times when you wonder whether this track was even necessary or not! I would like to take this opportunity and request Hira Tareen to stop playing the same role over and over again! She has been typecast so many times that I have lost count. Also, can we please stop showing educated and seemingly enlightened women chasing after men who make it very clear that they are not interested in them?

Shibra’s father’s role on the other hand has been translated on screen convincingly and gracefully by Noor ul Hassan. His bond with Fazal Baksh does not come across as superficial and I find myself dreading the time when he will find out the truth. Shibra is her father’s daughter in every sense possible which makes this character even more important. Ali Gul Mallah is also adorable as the original Fazal Baksh. His on-screen chemistry with Bilal Abbas Khan makes their scenes a treat to watch. This goes to show that even with a little screen time an actor can make a big difference.

Omair Rana’s character does not offer much; it does not have the same screen presence as Shibra’s father. Zarmeena Ikram’s performance comes across as overly staged, lacking the natural spontaneity.

Is it Worth the Hype?

Does Ishq Murshid deserve all the hype it is getting from the viewers in particular? Well, the fact is that even with its over-the-top and unconvincing plot, Ishq Murshid is a light-hearted drama that serves as an escape from the kind of content the viewers have been served in the recent past. The experiment worked for team Ishq Murshid and much of this success rests on Bilal Abbas’ shoulders. The drama’s content could have garnered wider acceptance among viewers had it been promoted as a blend of comedy, fantasy, and romance. A more nuanced impact could have been achieved if certain caricature-like traits of the characters and the performances were toned down.

Fazal Bakhsh subtly hinted on how the upcoming elections will go while also shared how voting for the wrong candidates is an insult to the whole nation. It was fun, it was comedic and it got more traction than Shibra’s acceptance of Fazal Bkhash’s love.

Ishq Murshid Episode 21- Fans Love Promotion Of Sindhi Music

0

Ishq Murshid has woven a world of magic where we are connected to all the characters and want to know more about their journey. Bilal Abbas Khan as Fazal Bakhsh has been very important in the story and he is the driving force behind attracting such a huge number of audiences but the little nuances of Sindhi culture and language in the drama have made it even more beautiful. We as a country cannot become more integrated unless we get to see each other’s cultures, languages, and traditions on national television. Ishq Murshid has been able to bring beautiful lakes of Sindh, subtle additions of Sindhi language words, and a big Sindhi artist Ali Gul Mallah to the mainstream. Farooq Rind has now successfully introduced a huge chunk of the audience to beautiful Sindhi music.

Ishq Murshid Episode 21- Fans Love Promotion Of Sindhi Music

In episode 21, in the backdrop of Sukaina’s wedding, we got Saif Samejo’s beautiful rendition of Saeed Imdad Hussaini’s poem Tuhinja Sapna. The fact that the director took time to add Urdu subtitles to the song made many more people able to understand the beauty of the song. Add a rugged-looking Fazal Bakhsh and an angelic Shibra to it and we get magic.

Ishq Mein Tere – Last Episode!

0

Wow! Just when I thought & dreaded the idea of the drama being stretched I was caught off guard when the ticker of Last Episode flashed on my screen. What else could’ve been a better way to end a drama decently without dragging it for no good reason. This ending & the number of episodes gave me another reason to like this drama & I am glad that I tuned into Ishq Mein Tere because it was a perfect entertainment.

The last episode wrapped up the story nicely & we are left with no unanswered questions. Everything fell into the place perfectly for sure. Whatever Cuckoo said to Saad’s mother was extremely derogatory & went to show what sort of a cheap mentality a so-called literate & sophisticated person endorsed. I wished Saad’s mother had at least slapped Cuckoo for things she said but she held herself back because she didn’t want to stoop to her level.

Finally, Saad’s health took a bad turn & he became hospitalized. As usual he had Saim by his side & I didn’t like that Saad once again told him off saying you don’t understand a thing. If that was the case, why would Saad share things with Saim if he thought he never understood whatever Saad ever said? Hamdani family got to know about Saad’s disease right when he was on his death bed, which makes things a bit – a tinsy bit unrealistic because if someone is suffering from such a chronic disease, one member or the other gets the heed of it definitely.

Saad thought it was his duty to fix things before he dies therefore he confessed everything in front of Laiba & took a promise that she will subside the misunderstanding that was created between Aiza & Shehryar. Finally, Aiza was convinced to let go of whatever happened because Saad asked her to. Sadly, he died & took all the mishaps that the family went through with him.

It was a pretty decent ending of such a nice drama but I wish they had shown the family members insulting Cuckoo for how she maligned Laiba against Aiza & Saad but she went away seemingly after apologizing to everyone for what she did. & yes, I do want to know what & how did Bakhtiyaar take control of his life? I know people don’t really appreciate if the side characters are given much importance but here his family & their issues were highlighted every once in a while, so I think it would’ve been justified if they had shown how he took responsibility & shaped up his life.

One huge issue I had with this episode was the use of white clothes in the post-death scenes. Who wears white in Pakistan? The question still remains. Another mistake or may be lack of attention happened when Saad’s mother walked into his farmhouse & asked the servant about Saad, according to him Saad wasn’t at home but in the very next scene, Saad is seen almost lifeless vomiting his guts out & his mother runs towards him.

Anyways, a big shout out to the writer, the director & the entire cast for bringing in such a decent play with no such loopholes. All the characters were brilliantly enacted by the actors & one special actor who shined throughout was Madiha Imam as Laiba. I must say being a newbie she seems so promising. I hope she makes some amazing choices & we get to see her more. I am glad that the drama ended at the right time & indeed it was a perfect family entertainment so Thank You team Ishq Mein Tere for giving us a decent play that we hoped for.  Share your views about the drama.

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 17!

Hmmmm, so it was more of a drama in this drama now. Interesting as always & I guess they are off to wrapping up the story. I’d pretty much appreciate if they don’t drag the ending & wind it up just when needed.

Is it just me or others feel the same that Laiba is nothing but a crazy egoist? Didn’t she ever come across the saying of never believing in what you see? I mean how easily she just saw Aiza going into Saad’s room & assumed the gruesome details. Does she really think she is going to win Saad over by being like this, where at first she was clingy & now she has turned his mother against him too? Is he actually worth all the hassle? I don’t think so. What she thought & then blurted about Aiza & Saad goes to show Laiba’s own mentality more than anyone else’s in this situation. She is not insecure because that’s the small word, rather she is obsessed to a blinding point.

Aiza was just being herself & kept on reminding Saad about his upcoming marriage. His coughing fits were unbearable to watch where he would cough like he ain’t going to last but the very next moment he would walk like nothing happened, lol. I actually detest Saad & fail to sympathize with him because he has only created difficulties for people around him. I actually once again got a chance to feel bad for Saim because if Saad can’t tolerate his advices, why does he call Saim to listen to his issues quietly? Saim is being so tolerant towards his selfish friend but sadly Saad can’t see it. :(

Finally, Aiza’s brother Bakhtiyaar has taken hold of his life & without going into much detail they showed him having a good time with his family & providing them with the basics. I think it was a perfect timing for Aiza to come to her brother for support because now he is being reasonably responsible towards his family.

I expected better from Shehryar but sadly he gave preference to his daughter’s verdict over anything else & without even seeking for Aiza’s justification he decided to send her away. Aiza on her own is right that he didn’t even give her a chance to explain about what happened & I feel in this matter it would be justified if Shehryar apologizes to her because Aiza never gave him a chance to doubt her. She deserves all the respect & Sheheryar definitely owes her an apology.

Next episode shows Saad’s suffering reaching to a lethal level & hopefully it would make Laiba regret what she has done. Can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 16!

I can’t thank team of Ishq Mein Tere enough for keeping us hooked to this show till now. The writer, the director & all the actors have done a commendable job in providing us with quality entertainment in the form of this drama.

The ring ceremony ended with Saad’s never ending coughing & this made me think again why Saad was doing all that to turn everyone’s world upside down when he himself doesn’t even know how much time he has on his hands. The whole Saad-approaches-Aiza scene wasn’t necessary. I thought he might tell her to do the honours being Laiba’s best friend & her sweet step-mom but it wasn’t meant to be so yes, I feel it could’ve been skipped because she was still a part of the function anyway.

I think Aiza’s bhabhi scenes are nothing but used as a forced comedy which can be skipped too. I wonder now after she has seen Aiza’s household, how much greedier she is going to get. Cuckoo’s annoying & I dislike the fact that she will always speak ill about every single person. If she thinks she can win Shehryar, how can she forget that he has a few family members as his responsibility too? Does she really think that she’ll be able to confine Shehryar to herself IF she gets him? I lol’ed at Saim’s pep talk to Saad but felt for that poor guy when Saad told him that ONLY & STRICTLY family members were invited for the engagement, I felt for Saim so much thinking he must’ve been shattered & heart-broken that his only family – Saad doesn’t take him as a part of his family till now. :/ A moment of silence for Saim’s misery please!

Laiba totally surprised me today & pleasantly at that when she took Cuckoo’s accusations on Aiza quite maturely. She turned Cuckoo’s brain feeding down & defended Saad when it came to his sketch of Aiza. I would’ve liked it a bit better if she had kept that sanity but seems like she lost the plot at the thought of Aiza & Saad being together & alone in Turkey. I think Laiba may have missed the fact too that Aiza insisted her to come along as well but Laiba herself refused. This was just enough of a reason for Laiba to trust Aiza but she lost it & decided to go to Turkey.

I wasn’t a fan of Laiba’s stalking antics because she on her own went to Turkey & not even a single call was made from anyone in Pakistan to Saad or Aiza asking whether Laiba reached safely or not. Yes, Laiba did tell her father that she wanted to surprise both Saad & Aiza but still I don’t think Saad’s mother would take it so lightly if she hadn’t heard anything about Laiba from either one of them. Laiba has once again believed in what Cuckoo told her & based her judgments on what she herself wanted to see. I actually pitied Aiza a lot more because all this while she kept on speaking about how much she missed her husband & sadly, all that’s going to come down crashing.

I know I am a fan of this drama & have really liked the story as well but I am not sure what will happen next & the last thing I’d want to see is Shehryar doubting his wife Aiza because I think Aiza deserves all the respect & even the blinding faith in her because she has loved Shehryar & married him with all his heart. For once, I would love to see a girl being treated with respect & even though things turn to be against her, she has her husband supporting her. Shehryar himself sent her to Turkey with his clingy nephew who was decent enough throughout his stay with her surprisingly so just because his immature kid Laiba tells him something, he is ready to just believe on what he may hear but not what he himself saw, I think Shehryar could’ve done better. I knew Aiza’s Mother-Teresa approach will put her in a difficult situation & this is exactly what’s going to happen next. I hope Shehryar & Aiza don’t part on such a petty misunderstanding because they are better than that.

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 15!

So, finally the story has come to another turn & this twist is interesting. Once again no complaints & just a pleasure watching this show.

Saad has finally proposed to Laiba thinking this way he can keep Aiza from going away from his life. Aiza on her own now feels guilty that she has played Saad into this commitment because she knows the actual reason as to why he has agreed for this marriage. I think Aiza should now take a back seat & relax because finally Saad is sort of out of her life as now he has gotten a girl who is totally smitten by him & who won’t leave by his side. Aiza’s suggestion of just getting them both engaged for now & delaying the wedding was sort of wrong. I think she should’ve affirmed Shahryar’s decision of getting Laiba & Saad married ASAP because engagements usually don’t last that long & that will still keep a window of hope open for Saad as well.

I think now Cuckoo’s existence is a total annoyance & nothing else. She has lost her battle & she has literally no reasons of staying back. It’s ohkay if she wants to be there, she can be but I think we all would appreciate if she is made invisible & not much screen time is given to her because her taunts & eyebrow raises are becoming repetitive.

I lol’ed at Saad & his Saim’s conversation. I have never seen two guys being so involved in the gharelu masail, where one is crying & the other is lending a shoulder to be cried upon. I know this may sound harsh & cruel but deep down Saad knows what sort of a chronical disease he has & the way it has resurfaced, his chances of making till the end of drama are thin, so why put everyone through such a fuss of engagement where he is clearly playing with Laiba’s feelings? Why does he want to bother Aiza because may be & eventually he won’t survive so yes, for the sake of Aiza & Shahryar’s peace, I hope Saad goes out of the picture because he is just being a nuisance & sorry, I don’t feel for his character at all!

I think Aiza’s bhabhi is being ridiculous now. She has her cousin Ahmed Ali brain feeding her into taking advantage of a rich SIL & her husband. I think her demand of 2 lac rupees that too directly from Shehryar was odd because Aiza has totally given everything she has ever earned to her brother’s family & her bhabhi knows that if she will ever seek Aiza’s help, Aiza will never stay back & lend her help by any means possible, so to see her act irrationally just because she now she has sensed some potential advantages of being related to financially stable people is hideous. I think Cuckoo & Bhabhi’s verbal spat was forced & unnecessary. It was a mangni wala ghar & not even a single hovering soul of mehmaan was there to hear them bickering plus the way Bhabhi shouted, people in such occasions are fishing for such controversies to gossip upon & still no one came to find out why such loud voices were being echoed in the home. That could’ve been easily skipped because even after being told off by almost all of the family members, Cuckoo hasn’t moved an inch & hasn’t gotten a hint, she is there to stay & still will stay.

Preview of the next episode suggested something totally unexpected about Aiza & Saad going for a honeymoon. I wouldn’t have believed if they has just shown some clippings because it would’ve come across as Saad’s wishful thinking once again but to hear it from Cuckoo, it am not sure what’s happening. Oh yes! I think they might’ve left for a business trip together which Cuckoo will be naming as a honeymoon. It’s still getting interesting, so let’s wait & watch.

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 14!

Another consistent week of an amazing episode. This one was a lot more gripping I must say. One thing that I like a lot about this drama is the little puzzle pieces they have set aside & use them every single time to fill in the slots. So, relieved to have a perfectly decent drama to watch these days.

I thought maybe Shehryar will find out about Saad’s intention but luckily for Aiza she has a saving excuse of Laiba. Very tactfully she used Laiba’s name to convince Shehryar that whenever she meets Saad it is just because she wants to talk him into getting married to Laiba, which is true obviously but this keeps Saad protected & prevents Shehryar from finding out the reality. I find things falling into right place just because Aiza has taken over every single thing but I also don’t think it’s smart of her to just ignore Saad’s confessions of how much he still loves her. I think Aiza is sadly mistaken that she can share the roof with Saad & he will ever forget about her.

Laiba has even seen a psychiatrist & this was a session which seemed totally unprofessional. For now I was glad to see some sense thrown back into Laiba because she told Cuckoo off & clearly went back to the stage where she used to taunt Cuckoo a little when she first came to live with them. It was good to see that Laiba now doesn’t doubt Aiza because Laiba herself heard Aiza convincing Saad of marrying her & I am glad this proved to be an eye opening factor for Laiba.

I actually feel for Cuckoo now, the more she’s trying, the more it’s slipping away from her, lol! She tried to talk against Aiza in front of Laiba but got a shut-up call. She tried to brain feed Saad’s mother about Aiza too but got what she deserved. It’s a high time for her to leave if she doesn’t want to get insulted from the whole family at the same time. Bakhtiyaar & his wife’s track is pointless. I don’t see anything in their life worth mentioning & if their scenes are skipped, I think no one will even miss them. I think it was absolutely an unthought of gesture of Aiza to gift her brother a car. How good must it been for someone to get a gift of that sort who doesn’t even move a muscle to provide basics for his family. Previously he was seen in the same ‘mohalla’ playing the cards, now he can easily commute to different areas for his leisures.

Voila! 14th episode & I found out Saad’s nameless friend’s actual name & that is Saim. I actually lol’ed a lot at their conversation about Cuckoo where Saad called her ‘Azab-e-Jaan’ & Saim referred to her as someone who is a camper saying ‘daira jama k bethi hui hain’. LOL! Poor Cuckoo wouldn’t have known that she tries to act all classy & elegant but people think about her the otherwise.

I think Aiza’s blackmailing was something odd. She packed the bags when no one else was around & Saad actually came to her room, doesn’t anyone else ever see him going to her room & having a chit chat with her & if so, then why is he never questioned? I am still amazed that no one has ever found out who he actually loves till now. Aiza should have convinced Saad but by being logical rather than being emotional. Aiza must understand that even if he surrenders because of her threats & proposes to Laiba, it’d be just because he’d want Aiza to stay & after getting married he’ll get a sure shot licence of clinging to Aiza easily because his real intention would be sheltered beneath his cover of marriage.

Anyhow, it was another interesting episode & let’s see what happens next because seems like we still have something interesting to look forward to.

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 13!

Ohkay so this was another episode where they seem to be taking things just the way we like to see.

It is just me or Saad actually shouldn’t have returned from the UK? Because he certainly deserves to rot. Aiza has tried to make him understand like a million times that she is already married & in love with her husband but Saad doesn’t seem to get the hint. He is one of those mouse who scurry away when they see the cat so for this I think Aiza needs to tell her Mr. Tom that some lunatic Jerry is bothering her & the peace will follow.

I am glad that this accident put Laiba in her right frame of mind & she actually got closer to Aiza because fortunately she didn’t hear anything else that Saad would’ve said to Aiza & in fact only heard that Saad dissed the idea of getting hooked to Laiba which Aiza was convincing him of. I think Laiba is just naive that she gets swayed very very easily. We saw it happening at first with Cuckoo & now again with Aiza.

The deal which Aiza agreed upon with Saad was ridiculous. She is intelligent enough to know that Saad just doesn’t want her hanging around with him as & like a friend. He certainly has these feelings for Aiza which can’t vanish overnight plus Saad was pretty clear that he would only extend courtesy & attention towards Laiba if he gets the same from Aiza. So, I believe if Aiza takes this as an opportunity where she thinks she would be able to convince Saad to love Laiba then she is clearly mistaken.

Saad’s disease seems to be surfacing again & who did we see him with? Yes, his uncool clingy friend who was there to do the honors of their bromance rituals. I think if this disease couldn’t put Saad in his right mental state then nothing else can. Laiba got hold of the situation after her accident but Saad doesn’t seem to get a hint.

I think Aiza’s sneaking away from her husband to see what Saad had to say in the middle of the night was wrong on her part. She thinks she can handle all these things but she doesn’t know she has Cuckoo to deal with who is just waiting for the right moment to snatch happiness away from Aiza. I think the next episode has a lot more to offer because supposedly things are going to slip away from Aiza’s hands. Let’s see.  Plus is it just me or Mehwish Hayat should & must actually change her wardrobe or at least a little attention to what she wears? :/

& oh I have a little Ishq Mein Tere Trivia to play. What can be picked as this family’s family drink? Do let me know if you think you have the right answer. ;)

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 12!

Ohkay so from now onward they are going to take things slow & I don’t mind it as far as I have reasonable, relate-able characters to fill my Wednesdays. What I love about the show is the approach director has opted for in order to deal with a script like this. The writer & the director along with the whole team deserve a huge appreciation for pulling off Ishq Mein Tere like this.

The best thing about the episode was that they have not resorted to the cheekiness of romance between Aiza & Shehryar. Yes, they got married, we all know about it, they have their feelings growing towards each other, we know of that too. Now they both, like practical adults are working together & spending time with each other at both the office & their home but no effort was made to show their relation forcefully. I am glad they also didn’t move on to the problems Aiza will face just as yet, rather they are building grounds for it, with ease.

There were two predictable moments in the episode which clearly unfolded the way we didn’t expect. First one was about the sketch of Aiza, which we all thought that Shehryar will end up finding about Saad’s feelings but thankfully nothing of that sort happened. Another one was when Cuckoo & Laiba went for a shopping at the very same spot where Aiza & Saad had a brief meeting. I thought the ladies will see them & then Cuckoo will get a chance to malign Aiza more in front of Laiba but once again fortunately it never happened. They did meet Saad but clearly Aiza had left by then.

I think Aiza shouldn’t be playing Miss I-Can-Handle-It-All. She should depend & rely on her husband because she has to be in this family for the rest of her life & it would be appropriate that she lets him take a lead & tackle things for her. I think it’s a high time she starts sharing things with Shehryar because he is understanding & trusts her completely. She shouldn’t spoil it by putting her relation at stake & by walking an extra mile to meet Saad by lying to her husband. Though her intention is not at all wrong but her approach is.

At last, Saad’s friend has done something productive & he talked him out of his sheer fixation of Aiza. His friend gave him a clear reality check which Saad needed. But still Saad on his own has not gained his senses & still is being problematic for Aiza. When Laiba came to meet Saad & to pour some dirt on Aiza, Saad clearly told her to accept Aiza as her step-mother because she is older to her & Laiba shouldn’t disrespect her, so this made me thinking when Saad is so maturely telling Laiba to do what is right, why he is acting the otherwise? Why can’t he accept Aiza as her Chachi & why doesn’t he stop bothering her? Like his friend mentioned, Aiza never ever promised Saad anything nor she got a direct proposal from Saad. Aiza on her own stumbled upon the sketch which Saad himself doesn’t know of. So, in this case, Aiza is free from all the liabilities & Saad should stop making her feel like one.

No doubt Cuckoo’s intentions aren’t clean & she is just using Laiba to get what she wants – both the attention of her & her father but for the sake of Laiba, I think she has found a support she needed at a time like this. At least Cuckoo knows how to calm her down & that is good for Laiba. The ending scene was a bit dragged with Laiba’s irrationality & Saad’s chase but I did find it relief-worthy that Laiba didn’t hear Saad say he loved Aiza. IF Laiba had heard it, things would’ve gotten a lot more nastier for Aiza than her expectations so for that I am happy that Aiza wasn’t dragged into this thing rather Laiba herself saw Aiza convincing Saad to get married to her, which makes me hopeful that Laiba will understand that Aiza had no plans whatsoever of snatching Saad away from her.

Can’t wait for the next episode because I think Saad will continue to be unreasonable & Shehryar might pick on some sort of details.

Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 11!

0

Another one of interesting episodes that we got to see. No matter what but I am enjoying this show a lot despite the simple predictable story, what I like the most is the direction & the production value they have put to make this drama what it is.

I really & actually thought that the post-wedding scenes of Aiza & Shehryar would be awkward to see but I am amazed at how they have covered their relation, their growing feelings & the love they both are experiencing towards each other. For this I must commend Shehzad Nawaz & Mehwish Hayat for acting it out so decently that I found myself smiling when they both shared a screen space. Aiza has fallen in love with her husband & Sheheryar is in awe of finding a perfect soul-mate, which is absolutely adorable.

I thought I would sympathize with Saad because his first love went bad & to be honest I really do want to feel something for him & his suffering but his unmanly attitude isn’t worth sympathizing with. I think Saad’s character is the weakest in the whole family because before he fell in love, he was too self-centered to actually see what Laiba felt for him & now after he has fallen for Aiza & she has gotten married, he is still ready to think about the ways of winning her love. He is even misbehaving with his mother for no good reason & hovering around Aiza like a Zombie, not at all giving a thought as to what others might think about it. Seriously, how much meaner can one get? Really, the fact that he is unable to cope up with the reality of his love being unrequited is shown appropriately but it’s just his character which is making it intolerable to actually feel anything for him.

I appreciated the fact that there was less emphasis on Laiba this time but in the beginning of the episode she got her fair share of putting the blame on Aiza conveniently. I must say both Laiba & Saad suit each other by all means because both of them are spoiled snots who are testing Aiza’s patience for nothing. She decided what she had to & they are ready to make her life miserable. Cuckoo is being mean to the core & for all the wrong reasons because she just can not get Shehryar & she needs to understand this. I thought Aiza would be submissive to everyone’s idiocy because she would want to make her mark in the family but providentially she is doing it when needed. She isn’t buying all that Cuckoo has to say because no doubt, Aiza has become a permanent member of the family whereas Cuckoo is still a guest in the house. I enjoyed their verbal spats because this sheds light a bit more on Aiza’s character that she won’t entertain any sorts of taunts coming from someone who has no position in the family. Finally, Shehryar also gave Cuckoo a shut-up call which was definitely needed but sadly she still doesn’t know where to stop.

All in all, it was another interesting episode. I hope to see less of Saad’s frowning depressing face & wish he goes on another trip where he gets his attitude fixed. Cuckoo it’s a high time you must pack your bags & find another rich cousin to woo & leave the newlywed happy couple alone. I just can’t wait to find out what would be Shahryar’s reaction to Saad’s painting & the little note of confession about his feelings towards Aiza. I hope nothing goes wrong with their relation plus I think Aiza must tell everything to Shehryar about how Saad felt for him & how she never considered him as a potential life partner. Can’t wait till next Wednesday!
