Nadia Khan is a renowned Pakistani television host and actor who often makes headlines for her bold statements and controversial opinions on dramas, celebrities, and current affairs. Recently, she has been hosting a morning show titled Rise and Shine on 365 News. On her show, she frequently discusses hit dramas and interviews various artists. This week, she spoke with several actors, including the young cast of Jama Taqseem.
Today, Nazeeha Zainab and Elahi Bakhsh joined the show via a telephonic link. During the conversation, Nadia Khan playfully trolled Mawra Hocane’s character, Laila.
While trolling Laila, Nadia said, “What are your thoughts on your Chachi Laila ? She seems so lazy and careless! Now she’s even become clumsy and untidy at home — she’s stopped taking baths, cleaning up, or wearing classy clothes. Since there are no other family members around, she’s in her comfort zone. Tell me, is she lazy or helpless? What’s her problem? She even has a focus issue — whenever she cooks, things get burnt! Don’t worry, you can talk freely; she’s not your real aunt.” Here is the link to the video:
Social media users are trolling Nadia Khan in return, pointing out that she played a similar character in the drama serial Bandhan in the past. Her scenes from the show had gone viral, especially the ones where she couldn’t even manage to cook a simple chicken curry. Many are reminding her of her lazy and careless character, Fari, from Bandhan. Read a few comments:

Jama Taqseem is a new Pakistani drama airing on Hum TV. The drama is written by Sarwat Nazir and directed by Ali Hassan. On the surface level, it is the story of every household in Pakistan, but once you look deep, the show has made excellent commentary on the joint family system, the burdens of relationships in one’s life and how unrealistic expectations of the older generation end up destroying the younger lot.
Jama Taqseem is the story of a family consisting of three married brothers who live under one roof with their parents. This may look like a fairytale from the outside, but the monsters lurking inside are swept under the carpet. The drama has been able to teach a lot of lessons without becoming preachy, and it is a hit with the audience, although it was not properly promoted by the channel. Let us look at the biggest lessons Jama Taqseem has taught us:
Islamic Point Of View On Joint Families
Jama Taqseem is boldly taking on a topic that is mostly romanticised on our television. Most of our young adults grew up watching Hum Saath Saath Hain on television while their homes played The Lion King. Joint family systems are very common in Pakistan, and the elder generation always tries to put rose-tinted glasses on the younger generation to keep everyone under one roof. But it almost always ends up in resentment, abandonment, and concealed hatred. Islam is against this system, and every family is encouraged to live separately. Jama Taqseem is speaking about this openly with Laila’s friend, referring to how it is obligatory on a man to give a separate home and privacy to his wife.
Rigidity Of Older Generation
Jama Taqseem has shed light on the rigidity of the older generation. How they never let new ideas flow in and show resistance to change has been accurately portrayed in the show. From our common household to the corridors of power, Pakistan has a deep-rooted culture of older people know better. Thus, new ideas are suppressed and a fresh approach is disregarded. In the drama, Javed Sheikh and Beo Zafar have shown how our elders are not open to any change, even if the whole structure of the family gets destroyed.
Teenage Cousins Living Under One Roof
Jama Taqseem has boldly taken on a less-travelled road with this one. Pakistan tops the list for the most cousin marriages, with 61% marriages in the country happening within the families. Our drama films also have a plot where two cousins fall in love, thus the relationship is not at all sibling-like. In many households, harassment does happen, and it is brushed under the carpet. A girl’s reputation generally becomes he point of conflict, while boys are not even reprimanded for the heinous crimes they have committed. Sidra and Zeeshan’s track has exposed the reality of many families.
Shared Business – Blessing Or Curse?
Money is the root of conflicts amongst many families. Jama Taqseem has shown how a shared business, in most cases, becomes a curse rather than a blessing. The elder brother, Hameed, is insecure as he has invested a lot of money in the business, and he is scared to lose the lion’s share; thus, he is always busy in conspiracies. At the same time, the younger brother, Majeed, was always underconfident and thought that he had to listen to all the unreasonable demands of his father and brother, as he did not invest anything in the business. Proper shares for both sons could have saved the family from conflict, and it would have given them enough independence and dignity to live their lives with happiness.
Hidden Contempt Towards Girl Child
We are in the year 2025, but a male child is still preferred over a female child in our parts of the world. Jama Taqseem has shed light on this topic in a very non-preachy way. In a household that looks normal on the surface, misogyny runs deep. They preferred their male grandchild over their female grandchild. The son with two daughters is not respected in the office, while his wife tries to make up for being the mother of two girls by taking care of all the household chores. Majeed and Rashida act like sinners when they have not done anything wrong, while Nudrat walks like a queen because she has a son.
Household Chores
Jama Taqseem is a total winner on this topic. The drama has shown how it is considered a crime for men to help with household chores. Qais is insulted in front of everyone just because he helped his wife with laundry. Men don’t even go into the kitchen for basic chores when our religion has taught us to learn and do everything in the house, regardless of gender.
At the same time, Laila’s character shows that even if you come from an elite background, you should at least know the basics, like cooking and laundry. Living like a princess is not an ideal situation for anyone, as you may have to encounter different conditions in the future.
Social Parity in Marriage Matters
Adjustment is a part of marriage, but when you marry into a completely different social background, it becomes a war. Laila comes from a nuclear and liberal family, while Qais comes from a conservative background with a joint family at its core. Though they are both trying hard to reconcile these backgrounds, their families are not helping, and this in the end takes a toll on a new marriage.
Parents Shape The Path Ahead
Jama Taqseem has emphasized how parents pave the path of their children’s lives. Laila’s parents have given her freedom and she is able to objectively analyze situations and the world around her. Qais’s parents, on the other hand, promoted delusion in their children and they are all delusional about their realities. Similarly, Nudrat and Hameed promoted their son’s superiority complex and power in the household, thus, making him into the monster he has become today.
Importance Of Listening To Your Children
Life is tough, and being a parent multiplies the difficulties one is facing. From financial to social pressures, couples go through many difficulties, and at times they start ignoring their children’s voices. Jama Taqseem demonstrated how Rashida failed to heed her daughter’s pleas. Rashida is living a hard life, but ignoring your own child’s pain can lead them to painful consequences. Her daughter tried to inform her what she was going through but she ignored her pain. Listening to your children is very important, as parents are a child’s only line of defence against a cruel world.
Unrealistic Expectations From New Brides
Jama Taqseem is talking about how in-laws, despite knowing that their daughter-in-law comes from a different background, are trying to suppress her personality. They try to mould her according to their likes from the very first day, to the point where they are controlling what she can wear. They also want her to start cooking and cleaning for a large family, and do not even give her time to learn. Proper time should be given to a new family member after marriage, before bullying and criticizing them.
Which important lesson do you think Jama Taqseem is imparting? Share in comments!

If you go to a restaurant, you will share pictures of the food. He adds showing off your clothes or wealth to others is like asking them to get that for themselves with whatever means possible. He said this is like mocking people who cannot afford those luxuries.
This is what he said:
Khawar Riaz also called out Pakistani actresses on award shows. He said they all start wearing western gowns when they should be representing Pakistani style. He added that he sees them trying to speak in English. Why do you have to speak English when the audience is not English and our own people are then complex and they will troll anyone who makes any mistakes in the English language. These stars need to realize who they are and represent their identity.

Shamoon Abbasi said that having too many expectations from your partner is wrong. He added that he has observed that young couples are doing great. They care about their financials and understand each other’s mindsets. But we also have access to see a lot and what others have which can sometimes affect this relationship negatively. Thus looking for inner peace is the key.
Biryani is an ARY Digital romantic drama series produced by Fahad Mustafa and Dr. Ali Kazmi under the banner of Big Bang Productions. It is written by ace Pakistani writer Zafar Mairaj—who previously penned Kabli Pulao and Dampukht—and directed by Cheekh fame Badar Mehmood. The story features a married landlord who falls in love with an educated, lively girl he meets at university. The cast includes Ramsha Khan, Khushhal Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Yousaf Bashir Qureshi, Javed Rizvi, Mahnoor Parvez, Farzana Munir, Laila Wasti, and others.
So far, 21 episodes of Biryani have aired on ARY Digital. In the latest episodes, Gul Meher visits Nisa to say sorry to her along with gifts. Meeran, on the other hand, joins back his university.
Fans are now bored with the storyline as they started watching it for purely a romantic track between Nisa and Meeran, played by Ramsha Khan and Khushhal Khan. Many are also not liking Meeran’s character who according to them is the weakest link in this story. One fan wrote, “Now it’s becoming boring, we want more scenes of Khushhal Khan and Ramsha Khan, missing their amazing chemistry. Meeran should take a stand for himself.” Another said, “This drama became boring when the Gul Mehar and Meraan’ truth came out” Another stated, “I loved this drama when it started. After the entire mangni thing with Rashid Bhai and the dragging of the story, I don’t feel like watching it anymore.” One fan remarked, “Nisa needs to end her relationship; it’s painful and uncomfortable to watch them. I hope the drama ends soon” Many saying that in the start, it was ‘Biryani’ which has now become ‘Khichri’. Read comments:
Madiha Rizvi is a remarkable Pakistani television actor known for her hit dramas like Jhooti, Bandhay Ek Dour Se, Ishq Di Chashni, Parizaad, Mann Mast Malang, and Yahya. She recently appeared in a short role in Case No. 9. Nowadays, fans are praising her excellent performance in Hum TV’s hit drama series Jama Taqseem.
Madiha Rizvi recently appeared on Maliha Rehman’s YouTube show, where she talked in detail about Jama Taqseem.
Talking about her character in Jama Taqseem, Madiha Rizvi said, “I enjoyed playing it because it had multiple layers. In Jama Taqseem, the character of Nighat is not completely negative — there are grey areas. She isn’t entirely black or white; she has both good and bad sides. Nighat has been in this situation for 22 years, dealing with issues like arguments with her husband over their son’s upbringing and his scandals — such as the house help affair and other matters. But now, for her son, she is showing her emotional side. She doesn’t want her son to return home, she’s not even interested in the property matters, and she’s in denial about her son’s wrongdoings. Even if she knows he’s at fault, she won’t accept it.”
Madiha Rizvi further added, “Surprisingly, I’m not getting any hate for my character. I know I should have received some, but I’m actually surprised by the response to Zeeshan’s sequence. People are making reels saying, “She’s a mother, she will support,” and they’re somehow relating to it because we haven’t portrayed it negatively. These are normal things that happen in households—women express all sorts of emotions, and in the end, they turn out to be good. There’s also an ongoing debate about Jama Taqseem—if everyone is good, then who is the real culprit in society?”
Madiha Rizvi also revealed that she initially refused the script after reading the first two episodes because it seemed like a typical saas-bahu storyline. However, when the director and Mahesh convinced her to read a few more episodes and assured her that the execution of the show would be a game changer, she agreed to do it and eventually liked both the character and the script. Here is the link to the video:
Talking about the appropriate casting, she said, “We knew it belonged to everyone — that’s why we all performed so well. I’ve seen shows where only two actors perform well while the others fail, and as a result, the drama flops. In this case, the casting took a long time; the director was very careful. I remember the set was frequently visited by the kids who were cast for their roles. The boy playing my son was the director’s choice. Although we initially wanted another child for the role, Ali Hassan chose Illahi because he knew the character was made for him.”
Mariyam Nafees is a renowned Pakistani actor, host and digital influencer who is admired for her beautiful screen presence and remarkable acting. She got fame through her role in the hit drama serial Diyar e Dil, aired in 2014. Mariyam Nafees is married to filmmaker and director Amaan Ahmed, and she is the proud mother of an adorable son, Eesa who is 6 months old.
Today, Mariyam Nafees made an appearance in Good Morning Pakistan. In the show, Mariyam Nafees revealed her secret rule to settle the fight peacefully with husband.
Talking about it, Mariyam Nafees said, “We have a rule—or rather, a ritual—that when Amaan and I are in an argument, one of us steps out of the room. We take a break from each other and then settle things the next day over breakfast. That’s how we’re able to think about the weaknesses that need to be addressed. I know people often say you should resolve issues right away, but we prefer taking a break because it helps us resolve things in a better way.” Here is the link to the video:
Haider Sultan Rahi is son of late legendary film artist Sultan Rahi who was a well-known film figure due to his countless hit Punjabi films including the most watched film in the cinema Maula Jatt. Haider Sultan also tried his luck in Ptv dramas and Punjabi films. Fans praised his TV projects but didn’t like him in Punjabi films. A few of his Ptv dramas include Armaan, Aag , Hum Aik Hain and others. His notable films are Sodaagar, Kundi Na Kharka and Basheera Gujar.
Recently, Haider Sultan gave an interview to RNN News , hosted by Bushra Khan. In the interview Haider Sultan talked about why Humayun Saeed’s Love Guru faced public backlash.
Talking about it, Haider Sultan said, “Now if I cast Humayun Saeed in a role as a college boy; no one will accept it, people will only accept him in a good suitable character role. Casting plays an important part in the success of a film, if done right. Now, Salman Khan and Shahrukh play hero but are accepted just because they choose characters that suit them. They have recently worked in a copied filmmfrom Hollywood. Love Guru is the name of the film which is a copy, first it was copied in India where Salman Khan played the lead character, here it was done by Humayun Saeed. I have given them suggestions about films but they want to play safe and do the similar movies again and again. Here is the link to the video:
Tehreem Zuberi is a renowned former Pakistani actress who appeared in notable dramas such as Bol Meri Machli, Wilco, Khuwabzaadi, Tum Se Mil Kar, Choti Si Kahani, Maa, and others. She also hosted a live TV show on PTV Home. Tehreem Zuberi got married in 2008 and subsequently left the media industry. She is the mother of two children, aged 16 and 11, and is currently settled in the USA, where she has been successfully running her own salon. She also hosts Radio Show Good Morning Houston for overseas Pakistanis.
Recently, Tehreem Zuberi appeared on Hafiz Ahmed’s podcast, where she spoke about leaving the media industry. Tehreem also opened up about the harassment faced by female actors.
Talking about the mistreatment of women, Tehreem Zuberi said, “I don’t understand why people cash in on two things. I know women might hate me for saying this, but when people come out of a relationship, they start throwing venom at each other. I think they should avoid speaking badly about their ex-partners because of the good relationship they once shared. Likewise, when you’re working and someone demands something inappropriate, we women have a strong instinct to judge men’s intentions — we instantly know what’s going to happen. I’ve done a lot of work and have met all kinds of men. It’s always in a woman’s hands to control even the evil stare of a man. Once, I received signals from a man, and I instantly warned him because my father taught me to deal with every kind of situation. I always knew he is behind me.”
She further added, “I have worked with people like Fahad Mustafa, Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, and Faysal Qureshi, and they were all very respectful. So, I don’t buy these stories from women completely. Men are very clever — they know where to try their luck. I’m not saying that women who share such stories are wrong, but don’t make yourself easily available to anyone.”
Sharing the reason behind leaving Pakistan and showbiz, Tehreem Zuberi said, “The main reason for coming to the USA was that I always wanted to send my children abroad for higher studies, so I had to come with them. I have always been the kind of mother who never sent her kids with drivers or asked maids to pick them up—I was always there for my children. I never left them in the care of servants because I have always been protective of them. I had already been planning to move abroad, and we visited the USA a few times to see if we could settle here. Houston was the first place I visited, and I instantly decided that I would stay here.”
Pamaal is a drama starring Saba Qamar and Usman Mukhtar. It started on a strong note and looks like we are indulging into the real plot line by episode 5. The story is basically a narration by the female lead who is reminiscing about her life and sharing what she went through to become what she is today. Saba Qamar as usual is brilliant and Usman Mukhtar has also impressed fans.
Raza and Malika are married in Pamaal and what charmed Malika in the beginning is turning ugly now. She thought Raza was possessive and protective of her but seems like he had narcissism which has started rearing its head. In the the recent episode, Malika and Raza go to her house and she interacts frankly with her cousin Anas. Raza is turned off by it and takes her away and complains about it.
Here is what happened:
Pamaal fans are divided now. One side thinks every husband would behave this way and Malika cannot be this close with her cousin. The other side calls out Raza’s narcissism and thinks he overreacted. A fan wrote, “Any husband will behave this way. Malika is selfish and she should avoid such closeness with her cousin.” Another added, “Marriage to a narcissist is hard. Now Malika will know what she got herself into.” One said, “I have faced such a narcissist. What we think is love in the beginning is possession for them.” Here are the reactions:
Atif Aslam is the biggest star of Pakistan. His concerts are always sold out and he has a global fan following. The magic of his voice has been mesmerizing generations for over two decades now. He recently took another dive and he shocked all his audiences when he started making some fun videos on Instagram.
Khaqan Shahnawaz, on the other hand, is an actor and content creator. He is young and not too old in the industry. He is known for his fun and blunt personality and he has worked on several big dramas like College Gate, Aik Nayi Cinderella and Haadsa. He was a guest on Pakiavellian and spoke about the industry, politics and clash between actors and content creators. He also has something to say about Atif Aslam’s content creation era.
Khaqan Shahnawaz is not a big fan of Atif Aslam’s content creation. He said that he does not have a problem with it but Atif was copying other smaller creators and he did not even give them credit. As a creator himself, he judged Atif Aslam for not giving credit. If he had made original content, Khaqan would have praised him for his creativity.
Zahid Ahmed is a star who is talented and intelligent. He is eloquent and he always says stuff which makes sense. He is happily married and he is a father to two sons. He has always been very open about his struggles with his looks, drug abuse and how faith helped him get back on his feet. He is currently starring in Dil Dhoondta Hai Phir Wohi and he spoke to Fuchsia during the show’s media junket.
Zahid Ahmed has advice for Gen Z who are reaching the age of marriage and they will be tying the knot in the future. The actor said that he has seen so many separations and divorces lately and it is always a sad sight. He said that the younger generation needs to realize that nothing is ever going to be perfect. You need to realize there will be ups and downs even when you live alone. But in a marriage these ups and downs double. Thus be perseverant and understand each other when you get yourself in the institution of marriage.
This is what he advised:
Zahid Ahmed also spoke about what is compromise in a marriage and to focus on the positives. He said that if we take 10 things in a person and we are okay with 7 or 8 of them, there will be 2 or 3 which we do not like. Thus you need to learn to compromise with those 2 or 3 things of your partner. If you keep hating on them and give more importance to what you do not like, the marriage will fall apart even after 40 years.
Sania Saeed is an ultra-talented artist and a woman of substance. She is known for her great choice of scripts, the way she gets under the skin of a character and her activism for humans and animals both. She is well-read and she always used her voice for the impoverished and oppressed. She was a guest on FHM podcast and spoke about many topics ranging from governance to activism.
Sania Saeed also reacted to the viral statement by Saima Qureshi. Saima Qureshi has stated that there is no blessing in a woman’s income. Despite Islam refuting such a mindset, she stated that she feels there is no blessing in a woman’s money and she feels there is no blessing in her own money either.
Sania Saeed said that she knows Saima and she does not agree with her opinion though she will respect her freedom to have her opinion. Sania said that Saima Qureshi is a single mother and she has single-handedly raised three sons who wer well brought up, she can pay for her freedom and she can go to any hosptal if she falls ill and for Sania Saeed, this is a blessing. She added that Saima’s definition of blessing may be different. According to Sania, women’s income is also blessed. Many a times, men earn so much and nothing is ever saved thus their income can also be “non-blessed”.
This is what she said:
Sania Saeed also spoke about why she said that people should not have kids unless they know what parenting is. She said we are all going through personal traumas and we end up becoming controlling parents and giving our children an environment which is not conducive to make them happy. Thus try to change your conditions to a peaceful place first. Yes, problems will always exist but learn parenting and make yourself ready for the task before you have kids.
Pakistani dramas have gained a large global audience in the last two decades. People within South Asia, as well as the Pakistani diaspora, love to follow these shows and their very realistic storylines. But with the increasing number of channels and dramas that air on three time slots, the quality of the product has been suffering for a while.
Many Pakistani dramas have fallen into the trap of formulaic storylines. Once a certain formula is a hit with the audience, unfortunately, all the stories start following that pattern to achieve high TRP and YouTube views. The biggest tropes we have seen on television are love triangles between the leads, as well as the ever-present saas-bahu issues, which never seem to die down. There is now another hit storyline in town, and it is the family rivalry. The two warring clans of different types have become the new favourite of Pakistani drama makers, and they are inserted in all stories in one way or another. Here is how many of our latest hit dramas achieved big numbers through this formula:
Khaie
Khaie was an experiment gone right in the Pakistani drama realm. The story written by Saqlain Abbas was bloody, and Syed Wajahat Hussain made it look realistic with his top-notch direction. From casting to performances, everything went right with this drama. The whole country followed the family rivalry between Chinar Khan and Zamda, and fans were on the edge of their seats throughout the show’s phenomenal run. The success of Khaie injected this new idea of family rivalries into our drama writing.
Dunyapur
Dunyapur was another big-budget Pakistani drama that aired on Green TV. The show was based on the big rivalry between the Adam and Nawab clans. The three generations of the two families were entangled in a full-scale war, and they were killing each other off. The romantic track, alongside some very strong performances, made Dunyapur a hit with the audience. There have been talks about a second season for the show, and fans would love to see Shahmeer and Anaa come back to continue the blood bath.
Noor Jahan
Noor Jahan was another hit drama which looked like a simple saas-bahu story on the surface. It ended up becoming a lot more with the intrigues and mysteries intertwined with strong performances. Noor Jahan is a Pakistani drama where the basic plot revolves around the family rivalry between Noor Jahan and Noor Bano’s father. This is where the whole mess starts and then transcends two generations.
Main Manto Nahi Hoon
Main Manto Nahi Hoon is another big Pakistani drama that is airing on ARY Digital right now. The show has the biggest star cast possible, and it was able to hook the audience from the very opening. The drama was based on the rivalry between the Amritsari and Binyamin clans. Fans loved it, and it was the rivalry which hooked fans. With the recent detour of the show towards romance, the viewership has been affected. Views and ratings were skyrocketing with the family rivalry plot, and that is something fans wanted to see more of; thus, the formula was working.
Sanwal Yaar Piya
Sanwal Yaar Piya is one of the most anticipated Pakistani dramas of this season. After various cast changes and delays, the show came out with Ahmed Ali Akbar, Feroze Khan, and Durefishan Saleem in the lead. The drama is getting good numbers on both TRP charts and YouTube, and fans like the characters overall. The main conflict in the plot will be the family rivalry between Aliyar and Piya. Their fathers both have a history of crime, and they parted on not very good terms. Meanwhile, Ahmed Ali Akbar’s Sanwal will be the chain linking their past rivalry to the present. Another hit for this plot track.
Main Zameen Tu Aasman
Main Zameen Tu Aasman is a Pakistani drama airing on Green TV. This drama has brought Feroze Khan and Hiba Bukhari together fr the first time. Written by Abdul Khaliq Khan, the writer of Ishq Murshid, there are a few similarities in the plot. We once again have two people from two families with opposing philosophies of how to live your life, fall in love. Once again, they will have to overcome this family rivalry of principles to be together.
Family rivalry in Pakistani dramas is another new instrument which is bringing massive views. Seems like it has become the flavour of the year. In Khaie, the rivalry meant something, and it brought something to the table, while in many new shows, it is just being used to hook the audience initially, like Main Manto Nahi Hoon? Do you find this new trend in Pakistani dramas interesting, or do you think it should be dropped now for fresher storylines? Share in comments!
Fawad Khan is a star people have always loved. He is actually a singer and later transitioned towards acting. He has worked in films in the past few years in both Pakistan and India.
