Indian Filmmaker Exploiting Sania Mirza’s Picture Is Extremely Disrespectful!

The Bollywood filmmaker, Ram Gopal Verma who is mostly infamous for his nasty and unacceptable comments on women shared a picture of Indian tennis player Sania Mirza (who is also the wife of Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Malik) while playing Tennis and hence her inners are visible.

The fact that out of a thousand pictures of one of India’s most celebrated players, he decided to use an offensive photo without her permission to gain attention is absolutely disgusting. Sharing such an offensive picture of anyone especially a woman is definitely unacceptable.

Indian Filmmaker Exploiting Sania Mirza’s Picture Is Extremely Disrespectful!

He shared the picture with the caption, “A girl told someone, MBSLBCI reminded her of, though she was very good at Tennis her father refused to permit her to play beyond a age because she will have to wear skirts ..The film is about exposing these regressive minds who use a girl’s sexuality against herself.”

Ram Gopal Verma really needs to respect an individual’s privacy, he’s getting thrashed on social media fo sharing a pic of Sania without her consent.

Indian film PK flying high at Pakistani box office

In the last week of 2013, an Indian film Dhoom 3 was released which made all time new records of revenue collection on Pakistani box office by earning about 230 million – 240 million rupees (23 crore – 24 crore). In December 2014 another Indian film PK is released in Pakistan and is attracting huge viewership across the provinces of Punjab, Sindh and Federal Capital Islamabad..

As per the distributor of the film, PK is on its way to reach the landmark of 150 million rupees in coming weeks on Pakistani box office.

Here is the report of English Daily Dawn regarding the overwhelming success of this film in Pakistan.

The world loved Aamir Khan as the smooth criminal on wheels (throwback: Dhoom 3) and loves him even more as the sceptical alien in PK.

Mammoth audiences in India and Pakistan have flocked to cinemas to watch the actor who has lived up to his reputation and success as an artiste who gives viewers plenty of food for thought.

After crossing INR300 crore in India, Rajkumar Hirani’s PK has triumphed in Pakistan, with rave reviews and repeat visits.

Speaking to Dawn about the success of PK which is expected to cross Rs15 crore in Pakistan, Manager Marketing from Distributor Club (PVT) Ltd, Hassaan Rizvi said, “The primary reasons for PK’s success are Rajkumar Hirani and Aamir Khan.”

“Perhaps another reason might be that the film has presented Pakistan in a positive light. Also, many people are coming because of word-of-mouth—for instance if one person watches the film, he is returning with two to three more people to view it again,” he added.

Cinema goers in Karachi are well-impressed with Aamir Khan’s loveable depiction of the unaware, inquisitive alien.

“I watched the film three times,” says one fan, Anum. “Firstly because it has Aamir Khan and secondly it addresses the theist question in such an effective manner. With religious extremism on the rise in both India and Pakistan, PK is an excellent film that deals with such pressing issues,” she says.

PK is intelligent and funny. While people are calling it preachy, I’d beg to differ because I didn’t feel any imposition in the film. And yes I would see it again,” comments Qurat-ul-Ain.

For those of our readers who do not know Aarti Bajaj is Anurag Kashyap’s former spouse.

‘Cake’ has garnered innumerable praises so far. On the first weekend, multiplexes such as Nueplex, Cinepax and Atrium Cinemas in Karachi and Cineplex Centaurus in Islamabad had sold out shows for three consecutive days. Cake opened to a weekend business of Rs30 million from Pakistan and selected international territories too.

Asim and the team truly deserve every bit of this appreciation.

Indian Film Industry Has Far More Credibility Than The Pakistani Film Industry: Fawad Khan

0

From becoming the showstopper for India’s leading fashion designer to hosting the grandest IIFA Awards – Fawad Khan has done it all. Now, in an interview with Hindustan Times, Fawad Khan compared the Pakistani and Indian film industries, and said that the former needs time to grow.

“The Indian film industry has been around for more than a 100 years now. So, it has far more credibility than the Pakistani film industry, which has witnessed a demise of sorts over the last 30 years. Now, the Pakistani film industry is getting back on its feet.”

13912553_10154236962071708_5062705865656406402_n

Fawad Khan strongly believes in cross-border exchange of talent. “The exchange of talent is increasing slowly. I would like an active exchange of movies too. We have been working on films and have been actively looking for talent from the Indian film industry to work with in Pakistani movies.”

FB_IMG_1469855050206

“And it is not just me. Film-makers such as Mahesh Bhatt and Mukesh Bhatt, and actors such as Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah, have all been trying to work across the border. It will take some time, and hopefully, I will be one of the first ones [to witness that change firsthand].”

Indian film Holiday allowed screening in Pakistan

Censor board has allowed the screening of Indian film Holiday in Pakistan which stars Akshay Kimar. But what is unusual about it in a country where Indian films are regularly screened in multiplexes across the country for past many years. Indian films attract large viewership and generate revenue and are considered necessary for the survival for cinema industry. Indian film celebrities are household names and indian music is also relayed from most of the FM radio channels throughout the day. Showbiz segment of news bulletin also gives generous coverage to each and every aspect of Indian celebrities. Majority of print media also overs Indian films in their showbiz section, while Indian celebrities are the preferred choice for advertisers due to their popularity among general public.

So what makes Holiday special, well it is the story of an Indian army officer. In the past censor board has not passed any Indian film based on Indian army or spy agent, or Pakistani army. Though Indian films discussing any thing other than Pakistan army are allowed screening. Like someone told that famous cricketer Shahid Afridi was discussed in a negative manner in a recently released Indian film Total Siyyapa. Indian film Holiday has received censor certificates from all three censor board based in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad after cutting few scenes. Screening of an Indian film based on Indian army shows signs of relaxation in censor regulations and also government has decided to relax its restrictive policy.

The film is released on Friday 6th June 2014 and is expected to generate substantial revenue as Akshay Kumar is widely popular in cine goers .Even though, Akshay’s last film Boss was a complete dud, it managed to generate considerable revenue for its Pakistani distributors.

Interestingly in Pakistan, there has been an undeclared restriction on making any film based on army. In past Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), an institution of army has refused any assistance for a project based on army. Portrayal of army officers has never been shown in any film. Waar was the first Pakistani film where ISPR has cooperated to make a film on terrorism.

All in all, the event has been cancelled due to terror threats received over the participation of Pakistani celebrities.

Festival director Vvikas Paul says, “I have received threats from vested interest groups and was worried about the security of my celebrity guests, myself, sponsors and my team. So, we have decided to defer it.”

“We will hold the festival when relations between the two countries improve,” he added.

Indian Dubbed Cartoons – A Nuisance!

0

Yes you read it right, I am so annoyed over the fact that our kids are being “taught” Hindi- Urdu through cartoons that are dubbed in Hindi-Urdu rather than the Urdu we speak here in our country. Not only this, many cartoons are based on cultural and religious myths of Hindus and while everyone talks against Indian shows on Pakistani channels and Indian models in Pakistani ads, we hardly ever hear anyone talking about these nonsensical cartoons, which have no educational value except that our kids are learning Hindi-Urdu very fast and they watch cartoon characters lying and cheat on-screen. Some years back PEMRA imposed a ban on Cartoon Network and Disney because of these dubbed shows but few months later this ban was lifted on the condition that these dubbed shows will not be shown on the channel. But after a few months the dubbed shows were back with a bang because our children are so addicted to them that they cannot survive without them! Those of you living in Pakistan who have children in the house will know what I am talking about. I have seen many children who are literally addicted to these shows and mothers have to impose a strict ban on Cartoon Network, Disney and Pogo but when kids go to friends’ houses their first request is that they want to watch Doraemon or Chota Beem.

Few months back when Geo TV announced that they were going to have Disney Time I was very happy to hear that because I thought that finally someone has thought about dubbing these shows in Pakistan. I am all for children watching cartoons in Urdu, as long as it is the Urdu we speak here in our country. But when I saw the cartoons being telecast on Geo I was utterly disappointed since they were dubbed in Hindi-Urdu, so basically our channels were just promoting the Indian Urdu even more. Sometimes it scares me that the kids who are growing up watching these programs won’t be able to tell the difference between the two languages. This is what I call cultural invasion in its true sense. Showing Indian advertisements is not as dangerous as this latest trend and something should be done to address the issue.

Indian Dubbed Cartoons - A Nuisance!

First of all my question is that even with so much technological development and enough monetary resources why can we not dub these cartoons ourselves? My second question is that if we have enough money to launch new news or entertainment channel every second month, why can’t we have one channel for children too? Pakistan television private or governmental has never produced good quality shows for kids in abundance. And I think that we are missing out on a great opportunity to educate our children through television. These children are our future and a little investment in them is going to go a very long way.

When Hum TV launched a new channel a few months back, I was not happy about it at all because Hum TV is doing so well already as far dramas are concerned so why not invest the same time, energy and money in doing something for the future generation? I am waiting impatiently for the day when we will have our own cartoons promoting our own values, language and customs. I have seen children watching animations like Dettol warriors and Safeguard ones over and over again. These animations are not meant for entertainment purposes at all but are very educational. Kids find them very interesting and follow the instructions given by the animated characters and understand the difference between good and bad as shown in these animated advertisements, this only goes to show that television is such a strong medium that it can bring about any kind of change. It is sad that we leave it to India to make and dub our children’s entertainment shows but can go on making endless dramas for grown ups. It is obviously more about money than doing something good for the betterment of the country.

PEMRA should take a step forward and this time around ensure that no Hindi-Urdu dubbed shows should air on Pakistani Cartoon Network. It would be much better that our kids watch these shows in English, Chinese or Japanese if we cannot do the dubbing ourselves.

Saud.

Indian Dramas on Pakistan’s Local Channels-Why to ban Indian Channels then?

0

We live in a country with double standards especially when it comes to choosing in between what is right and what is not. Whether it be regarding fashion, latest trend, entertainment or politics, our rules somewhat very different for ourselves as compared to the ideologies we generally talk about. Relating this major drawback of the nation with the entertainment industry of ours, all I have to share today are my views about the diplomacy of our local channels and the confused state of the viewers who are not even thinking once that where our culture and tradition is actually heading.

nidaaa

Throughout my experience while writing over the entertainment industry of Pakistan, I have realized that the audience seems reasonably satisfied with the local content and much of the readers on different forums have been found saying that they love Pakistani Dramas and find them much better than the foreign content- fair enough! While the viewers are happy with what their country is producing for them, It sounds like a wonder that the private channels are actually airing the foreign dramas in their prime time without even talking about the reason for doing so.

It was also analyzed few months back that there is still a minority which looks forward to the Turkish shows and want to have more from the stated country, which again, might be because of the similarities that the two countries share on the basis of religion (and nothing else). Not going in much of the details that what made these Turkish dramas popular amongst the Pakistanis, I would only target the INDIAN DRAMAS that  are going on air on different channels.

Why to block Indian Channels?

The heading reveals my point fairly well. There was literally a time when I and my family, just like many of you, used to follow Star Plus and SONY TV, watching ‘The super BALAJI SHOWS’ like crackpots. Hate them or love them, Pakistan had a huge audience following those melo-dramatic serials but it was only then the channels were blocked by PEMRA and we saw the officials condemning the broadcast of Indian Channels in the country, declaring them as a threat to the integrity and culture of Pakistan.

Amazingly, now that the audience has converge its interests from the Indian stories to the Local content, the private, renowned channels are now airing the same, I repeat, the same Indian shows through their platform.

Here is a small list of Indian Dramas that are been aired on our Local channels which are established by Muslim Pakistanis, run by them and are paying back to them only!

GEO TV

1)Qubool Hai  (21:00)

images

The drama is been watched by the fans of Karan Grover, the  Arman Malik of Dil Mil Gaye and is contributing in earning some TRPs for the channel.

2) Bade Achhe Lagte Hain    (22:00)

images (1)

The Parvati is back, not on star Plus or SONY, but on Geo, wonders happen, and happen in this country only!

3)Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke (22:30)

images (2)

Honestly speaking, I haven’t followed this one but still, its existence on a Pakistani Platform is enough to pinch.

Express entertainment

1)      Haseena Chalbaaz

2)      Anamika

3)      Hitler di-di

4)      Na boly tum na maine kuch kaha

 expressss

All these dramas that are aired on Express entertainment are scheduled for primetimes, thus, you can imagine how important and close they are to the hearts of the owners of the channel.

What’s the confusion?

This country can be well defined in a single word, and that is ‘CONFUSED’. We are all confused about everything; cherry on the top, we are given a free-hand too by the authorities to like, do, wish, Kill, watch, eat, drink, vote anything and anyone, no one actually bothers. The question here is that how can people watch these dramas when they fake round, saying they love the local content? It is obvious that the channels are continuing the telecast because they are earning with, people are watching them. And if the people want to see the Indian dramas then why are Indian channels banned?

What kind of a strategy are they following basically? Where is PEMRA now and why those officials are satisfied with the same ideologies been promoted by these serials? Who to question? Who will answer? Just like other matters, we, the audience again find no one owing the responsibility!

Please share your views about the matter,

Indian Dramas NO MORE a threat to Pakistani Drama Industry!

0

Indian Dramas NO MORE a threat to Pakistani Drama Industry!Unrealistic scripts, foolish concepts, absurd acting and never-ending stories have finally came to an end. This is indeed good news for me to hear that Pakistani people are now no more interested to see fatigue Indian dramas, which are usually based on unethical concepts. And for such accomplishment the big hand goes to Pakistani television Industry that not only came up as a hard-hitting challenger but also transformed the visions of Pakistani people.

I am proudly a Pakistani drama big lover. I do not miss any episode of my favorite serial and love to chat about every detail of them with my friends. I am proud of how these dramas have set free the nation of those who worshipped low quality soaps on Star Plus.

Indian drama craze went on for many years in Pakistan and set on accelerating the Indian drama fever like a dengue virus. The entire audience of Pakistan was grabbed by brainless dramas like ‘Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki’, ‘Kasauti Zindagi ki’ and the string goes on. Even that was a time when everyone knew every single thing about Indian culture and traditions but no one even bother to know who founded Pakistan. Besides this, little girls used to play ‘Kum Kum’ and ‘Kyun Ke Saas Bhi Kbi Bahu Thi’ instead of playing ‘Ghar Ghar’. Moreover, women got their food burnt while they were deeply lost in drama scenes. And almost everything seemed to be paused at the time of drama.

Nevertheless in recent times I have been displeased to see an idleness of some concepts and characters in Pakistani dramas. It has been tiring to view the same characters being repeated on screen projecting an image of this country which is overstated and doesn’t hold true to every single case. But no doubt! Pakistan made its boom and these days, Pakistani dramas have reached the peaks of success and fame.

Pakistani Drama Industry has given them a hard competition and effectively crossed the line of success that Indian Drama serials had set. Channels like, Ary, Geo, Hum tv have done a great job so as to promote Pakistani talent across the globe. Stories from intelligent writers, outstanding acting, brilliant dialogues and sound direction have set Pakistani television industry a notch above the rest. Captivating story lines like of ‘Durr-e-Shahwaar’, ‘Maat’, ‘Meri Zaat Zarra Be Nishan’, ‘Jannat Se Nikali Hui Aurat’, ‘Doraha’, ‘Humsafar’ and many more have just turned the hearts of people back to Pakistani civilized cultural values.

Well! It is a known fact that Indian Drama Industry has lost its charm in Pakistan. With powerful script, limited episodes, soulful stories and the efforts of drama makers, Pakistani drama has once again reached the height of success. Hit it Big!

Wishes,

Nida Zaidi

I am astonished at the pace he had recovered,” Times of India quoted Specialist Pulmonologist at Medeor Hospital Dr Saheer Sainalabdeen as saying. The report stated that Rizwan had been suffering from intermittent fever, persistent cough, and chest tightness for 3-5 days before being hospitalised. Saheer said that the medical team immediately stabilised him and gave him symptomatic medications to ease his pain. “His pain at the time of admission was 10/10. So, we subjected him for a detailed evaluation to diagnose the condition.”

According to the doctor, recovery and gaining fitness before the match with the severity of Rizwan’s medical condition seemed unrealistic and anyone else would have taken around a week to recover in this condition. He further stated that it was Rizwan’s physical fitness and endurance level that helped him recover at this pace. After getting discharged from the hospital and declared fit, Rizwan gifted a signed jersey to Dr Sainalabdeen as he expressed gratitude towards the doctor and his team.

Indian Distributors reluctant to release new films in Pakistan

0

Post the Uri attacks, Pakistani cinema owners had decided to stop screening Bollywood films until tensions between the countries cool down. Though the political situations are no better but Pakistani cinema owners have lifted the self imposed ban on Bollywood films due to the loss faced.

Films like ‘Pink and Freaky Ali’ which were already screened in Pakistani before the ban, are screened again but the new Indian films might not release anytime soon. Earlier, there was news that new Bollywood films will release in Pakistan but the latest reports suggest, that Indian distributors are not willing to release their films in Pakistan at least till the things cool down.

Dawn revealed, that the owner of Cineplex at Centaurus, Nadeem Mandviwala said, “Forces, which created the situation, are still trying to create hurdles. Currently those hurdles are from Indian side and once they will be removed we will know if there are hurdles from Pakistani side or not. So far we have not faced any pressure from the Pakistani side.”

“I don’t think we will get Indian movies immediately,” he added. “It can take days, weeks and even months to start screening new movies. We have lifted the ban and now it is up to Indian distributors whether they will sell movies to Pakistan. However, a debate has begun in India about it,” he said.

“Once Indian distributors agree to sell movies, we will have to get a no objection certificate (NOC) from the government. If the NOC is issued the movies will have to be cleared by Pakistan Censor Board. After that we will be in a position to say that new movies can be screened in Pakistan,” he concluded.

News about our government rejecting the NOC for Amir Khan’s upcoming film Dangal was doing rounds but the producer of the film Siddharth Roy Kapoor cleared the air.

He stated, “It is an encouraging move that they are allowing Bollywood films. And I hope over time, the two countries sort the issues that they have with each other.”

When asked if Dangal will be releasing in Pakistan, he said, “We are not going to be releasing Dangal in Pakistan. This is a call we had taken a few weeks ago, and we are sticking with that decision.”

A source in Geo revealed that the NOC for Dangal was never applied. The source also revealed that it is the Indian distributors who are reluctant to release new films in Pakistan.

Indian Composer Reveals Aashiqui Songs Were Stolen From Pakistan

Aashiqui was a big movie from Bollywood that managed to reach a cult classic status due to its beautiful music. The film starred Rahul Roy and Annu Aggarwal in the lead and the music was composed by famous Indian composer duo Nadeem-Sharavan. Those songs are still hummed all over South Asia and the music is surely evergreen.

Indian Composer Reveals Aashiqui Songs Were Stolen From Pakistan

Another famous composer from Bollywood Lalit Pandit of the duo Jatin-Lalit recently gave an interview to Bollywood Hungama. The composer has been the name behind many big Bollywood hits including the music for Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayeinge. He talked about the music culture of Bollywood, how remaining true to their beats was important for him and how Aashqui’s composers Nadeem-Sharavan used to copy Pakistani music.

Indian Composer Reveals Aashiqui Songs Were Stolen From Pakistan

He further revealed that Nadeem and Sharavan used to go to Dubai where they would get Pakistani cassettes and then reproduce that Pakistani music as their own songs. He said that this was known by the whole industry and this is what happened with Aashiqui’s music as well.

Indian Composer Reveals Aashiqui Songs Were Stolen From Pakistan

Here is what Lalit Pandit revealed:

Indian Composer Admits that Pakistani Musicians are Better than Bollywood.

India might be considered ahead than us in a lot of things when the Entertainment Industry of both the countries are compared but according to Raghav Sacha Pakistani Music is much better than India’s. Sacha told a foreign news agency,

Pakistan comprises a mammoth independent music segment and its musicians are much more evolved as there is lesser ‘bastardisation’ of a musician in the neighbouring country as compared to Bollywood.

Raghav has spent 15 years of his life as a music composer, composing for Bollywood hits like Rustam, Kabul Express and One Two Three. In addition to these, he has also worked on several independent projects.

He also praised the segregation of different music genres in Pakistan.

They (Pakistan) have a very big independent segment. There is Sufi, rock and more. They attempt songs and give them a different light because there is lesser ‘bastardisation’ of a musician.

He also mentioned the problems with Bollywood music:

In Bollywood, what happens is that you are making a song for a film which is directed by a person. Even the director is probably not much involved in music making. It’s basically the producer who is putting in the money and then the label. So, by the time the music is made by the music director to the release time, there are multiple changes made to the song and it ends up losing soul because too many cooks spoil the broth.

He further said that if the Coke Studio of Pakistan and India are compared, the vast difference in the quality of the product is very visible. He believes that the reason for this is that independent music is given a lot of importance in Pakistan.

Indian cinema owners officially boycott films with Pakistani actors

The Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) on Friday announced that movies featuring Pakistani actors won’t be screened in single screen theaters in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat.

The decision comes ahead of the scheduled release of Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, which stars Pakistani actor Fawad Khan. While it was slated to hit the screens on October 28, the COEAI decision has cast doubts if it will see the light of the day any time soon in western India.

COEAI President Nitin Datar told IANS : “We have nothing against Karan Johar. It’s just that we won’t allow the release of any film which will have Pakistani actors or technicians in it.”

The COEAI has over 400 members. “We have collectively taken this decision that we won’t showcase such films in our single screens. As of now, we will be following this decision in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat,” Datar added.

The decision comes amid India-Pakistan tensions. “We can’t say we are banning these films. It’s just that we are suspending all these films,” said Datar.

“In future, if our (India’s) relationship with Pakistan gets better, we will work towards it. But looking at the current scenario, we have to take this decision,” he added.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena had earlier warned Pakistani actors to quit India and said it would not let movies — including Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees — to release.

Following that, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association had passed a resolution to disallow Pakistani artistes from working in Indian films.

In response, Pakistani exhibitors had reportedly decided not to screen Indian films in their cinemas.

Indian Celebrities Show Their Support For Pakistani Artists

0

At a time when Shiv Sena is dead against Pakistani artists working in India there are Indian celebrities who want to see these artists working in India. Famous directors and actors spoke up against Shiv Sena’s latest threats to Pakistani artists.

Mahesh Bhatt has been encouraging Pakistani talent to work in India for a very long time now. He is the one who invited Mohsin Khan to work in India but even then he was forced to leave the country because of his nationality. Talking about this latest step by Shiv Sena Mahesh Bhatt said,

“If Fawad Khan is in the country, it is because the people of India have loved him. If Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam are big draws in the country, it is because they are a hit with the citizens in the country, which is why they are a part of the popular mainstream culture today. I have dared to bring talent from across the border because we as an industry only look inwards.”

mahesh bhatt

He also said,

“When I made the film Saathi (which released in 1991), Pakistani cricketer-turned-actor Mohsin Khan was a part of the movie, but he was asked to leave because of his nationality. Haven’t we moved an inch since then? Are we stuck in history? I think we as an industry must search for answers.”

Bhatt told IANS in an interview,

“It kind of ridicules our constitution, it shames the police, and it debunks our claim of being a democracy. And when you tamper with a god-given gift in men of free thought and free speech, to create fear is not good for any individual, nor for society.”

Shyam Benegal, the filmmaker also spoke against this move by Shiv Sena. He said,

“We have diplomatic relations with the country and we are not at war with them. We are a cultured nation and we can’t be reducing ourselves to play the game of tit for tat. They are not doing it in a rational sense, is it a mere political advantage (that they are vying for)?”

Karan Anshuman who is a director and a film critic also did not agree with what Shiv Sena is attempting to do. He said,

“I disagree with the Shiv Sena. What sort of picture are they trying to portray? On one hand, we have the film fraternity culminating the message of peace with films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and on the other hand we have parties like these who will go down to any extent to stay relevant. ”

saif

Saif Ali Khan whose films were recently banned in Pakistan because of his objectionable statements against Pakistani also does not support Shiv Sena. While talking to the media he said,

“I remember the time when I said that I was disappointed in Pakistan and everyone lost their s***, and here they are throwing ink all over the place.”

He asked Shiv Sena to,

“rein it in or else Pakistan will ban more of our movies. For the love of Bollywood, stop before it’s too late!”

Indian Celebrities as Pakistani Brand Ambassadors

0

In one of my article before I wrote about the increasing trend of promoting Indian culture through the launching of their dramas on Pakistani TV channels. At that time this topic came in my mind that not only their dramas but also the actresses and actors of India are playing an active role in cultural invasion. The brands of Pakistan choose Indian celebrities as Pakistani brand ambassadors and this is where our talent gets suppressed. This article will focus on some of the brands that have chosen Indian celebrities as their brand ambassadors.

315473,xcitefun-elan-lawn-nargis-fakhri
What is a brand ambassador? This question must be arising in the minds of many people who are not aware of this. Actually a brand ambassador is usually an icon or a celebrity who promotes the brand through his popularity. The main things going on in the brand owners mind are that they should choose such a brand ambassador who is very much popular among the audience. This is the only way they can increase the sale of their brand. Unfortunately this is the biggest reason why Indian celebrities are chosen because they are more popular in Pakistan. Advertisements in Pakistan have always been followed by the trends and innovations adopted globally. From 1998-2008, after the formation of PEMRA there was a huge flood of channels which brought about the culture of Indian actresses as Pakistani brand ambassadors.

PR Card- New Veet Naturals
Coming to the brands that chose Indian celebrities as Pakistani brand ambassadors, Veet is a very famous hair removing cream in Pakistan. Almost 70 percent above women use this product. It has a wide range of products which include; hair removing creams, lotions and wax strips. Veet has different creams for different skin types. Katrina Kaif has been the brand ambassador of Veet since a very long time. We have been seeing her in many advertisements of Veet. Katrina Kaif was brought into Pakistan advertisement agency in 2008 and that was when this race continued.

qmobile noir a600 tvc 2013 Aditya Roy Kapoor
Not only the beauty products but also the mobile phone companies of Pakistan want Indian celebrities to be their brand ambassadors. Q mobile is the leading mobile phone brand of Pakistan. They are always in the spotlight for their expensive and glamorous advertisements, bringing the real-wanted celebrities on screen. Q mobile has signed Aditya Roy Kapoor as their brand ambassador. it is expected that the company will surely get a boost in its sales. As this Indian celebrity has been extremely popular after Aashiqui 2 and he has turned into a heartthrob for many girls out there, he will now be seen in a couple movies that he has already signed and will also be doing commercials, which off course are also a good source of generating revenue that is why Q mobile has made a choice and took him as their brand ambassador so that they can get a high increase in their sale.

firdous-lawn-2012-featuring-sonam-kapoor4

Moving on to clothing brands of Pakistan, Firdous Lawn is considered to be a trend setter for hiring Indian actresses for their latest lawn collections. Previously they chose Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, both of them have a big Bollywood name and brought about fame from across the world. They also captured the attention of every fashion follower. Recently they have gone for Sonam Kapoor who is well known for her style sense. Sonam Kapoor is a very popular Indian actress and she will surely increase the sale of Firdous Lawn. This trend was followed by Crescent lawn that have opted Karishma Kapoor as brand ambassador for their collection. Also the leading designer Fahad Hussayn has chosen Priyanka Chopra to be the brand ambassador of his brand.

317066,xcitefun-priyanka-chopra-modeling-for-fahad-hussa
Pakistan is spending a very high budget on such pure Indian advertisements. Since these actors are appreciated quite a lot for their unique dressing and taste of glamour in India and so they are equally welcomed in Pakistan by the common man. It does bring attraction to their brand but is it the right thing? I will definitely say no. Pakistan has such an immense lot of talented actors and actresses who are also very popular but still we need others to display our brands, Why? Calling out on actors from other countries and neglecting our own stars, this is pure injustice to them. We are degrading them openly through such acts. Some of the Pakistani actors have even complained about this trend. Instead of promoting the brands with other people, the Pakistani brand managers should go for people from their own country. Pakistan is full of talent and beauty which is being neglected by its own people. We should learn to appreciate it.

Indian Band’s Version of Pakistani National Anthem Better than Coke Studio’s?

Who says Indians and Pakistanis need to be enemies? Arch nemesis of one another? The two countries separated nearly 70 years ago. Both the countries took different directions since then. So why the bad blood?

An Indian acapella band proved that both countries can be friends if they want to be. The acapella band sang Pakistan’s national anthem and dedicated it to Pakistan as a gift for its 70th Birthday. Isn’t that a heartwarming gesture?

The video begins with a heart-felt message reading, ‘This is our way of wishing you, Happy Birthday Pakistan.’

The efforts of this Indian band is being appreciated greatly by Pakistanis on social media but let’s be honest, that was to be expected. However, now a lot of people are stating that the version that the Indian band has made is better than Coke Studio’s rendition!

Have a listen to what our Indian friends came up with:

Now, give a listen to the Coke Studio version:

Regardless of which one you prefer, we appreciate both their efforts!
