Pakistani drama industry is blessed with the best. There are few really gifted actors who have through the years proved their credibility by choosing the projects they work in wisely. While I was shortlisting names for this list, I realized that there are also those actors who have been around for decades yet there are only a handful of dramas starring them which can actually be termed as the best. Unfortunately, many of these talented actors have also often compromised on quality. That is the reason why some of them have not exploited their potential to the maximum. Their best performances however are definitely worth watching.

This list contains the names of those actors who have been in the drama industry for a really long time. I hope that this list will give all of us a chance to talk about some old dramas which we don’t talk about often. It is also like a recommendation list for all those drama buffs who have not watched some of these dramas yet. The suggestions given by the readers will add more names to the list and will definitely give me a few new dramas to watch too.

Noman Ijaz

Noman Ijaz has been part of so many amazing dramas that it is not easy to shortlist few good dramas from his long career. Therefore, I added those dramas in which he played those characters which were unforgettable. All these dramas were well-written and executed.

He is definitely the kind of actor who owns every single role he plays and never fails to impress the viewers. I wanted to add at least one drama in which he played a positive character but the fact is that he excels in playing negative roles. There are however no similarities between these roles. Faisal Qureshi

Faisal Qureshi is another powerful actor who has been part of some superb dramas. I must say though that even now Faisal Qureshi has a lot to give to the industry because there are so many fronts which he has not explored. Faysal Qureshi associated himself with A & B Productions for the longest time and in the process he signed some projects which were not always impressive.

It is also a fact that even if he is part of a drama which as a whole doesn’t offer much, his performance is always up to the mark. These four dramas starring Faysal Qureshi in leading roles are my favorite. I have a few recommendations from the readers which I will be watching soon.

Ahsan Khan has been part of many dramas but there was also a time when he did not choose the projects he worked in carefully. Therefore, he has also been part of some of the worst dramas we have seen on television. Thankfully, he has played the leading role in quite a few dramas that were entertaining and which also showcased his great acting skills. Ahsan Khan is much more selective now therefore some of his recent performances showed his versatility as an actor.

Imran Ashraf has been part of the Pakistani drama industry for a long time but it took him a lot of time to get recognition. Dillagi was the first drama in which Imran Ashraf got the chance to show his acting prowess. In his other two dramas which are my all time favorites, Imran Ashraf played challenging characters. The fact is that Imran Ashraf can excel at playing the kind of roles that most actors would shy away from. Just like some other actors in this list, Imran Ashraf has also been part of many dramas which were anything but impressive. We are all waiting to watch him in another good drama; ever since he has been a part of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, he has failed to give a performance that doesn’t have shades of Bhola.

I still remember the first time I was completely blown away by Sami Khan’s powerful performance. It was in the drama Sabz Pari Laal Kabootar, a drama that most viewers probably haven’t seen. This was definitely one of the best performances Sami Khan gave. Sami Khan also has the ability to outshine in any role at all. He is an expert at bringing out the nuances of his characters through his performances. He has also experimented with different roles in his career. There were definitely more hits than there were misses in his entire career.

Syed Jibran makes you feel for his characters; he can make you love or hate his characters effortlessly.

Imran Abbas is a brilliant actor but he definitely needs to choose his roles more wisely. Here are few of his dramas in which he did complete justice to his roles. Although he has not been around for as long as some of the other actors in this list but he has definitely enough quality dramas to his credit to be added to the list.

Mere Pass Tum Ho’s dialogues have very often gone viral. Mere Pass Tum Ho has some of the best dialogues which became even more powerful because of the situations and the storyline. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is known for penning down soul-stirring and hard hitting dialogues which win the viewers over completely. Some of Mere Pass Tum Ho’s dialogues were also the topic of discussion on social media and elsewhere. Mere Pass Tum Ho’s story isn’t new but the way the writer has highlighted the emotions and conflicts of the characters through his dialogues has given this old story a new feel.

Mere Pass Tum Ho is the most popular drama on television right now and the dialogues in this drama have contributed to its popularity. These dialogues make the drama more powerful. Although it is nearly impossible to narrow down the best dialogues in Mere Pass Tum Ho in one list but this is an attempt to do so.

The Dialogue Which Went Viral

This dialogue from the 12th episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho went viral instantly. There were different kinds of reactions to this particular dialogue. It won’t be wrong to say that this was the most debated and talked about dialogue of this year. In episode 11 when Mehwish finally makes up her mind that she wants to leave Danish, he asks Shehwar to pick her up after giving her a divorce. Shehwar had earlier offered him 50 million rupees for leaving Mehwish. Danish refused to take the money and before bidding farewell to Mehwish, he expressed his anger by telling Shehwar that Mehwish was not worth 50 million rupees. Those people who agreed with the notion and felt for Danish loved this dialogue. Others who thought that this dialogue was insulting and in bad taste, criticized it. For the longest time people shared their views about this dialogues and there were others who made memes to express their opinions. Surely, even those people who are not watching Mere Pass Tum Ho must be fully acquainted with this dialogue if not the context. The superb direction, acting and the timing of this dialogue added to its effectiveness.

Danish’s Loss Summed Up

Episode 12 was the most powerful episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho because it had few of the most memorable dialogues from the drama. Danish for the most part was a ‘good sport’ when he divorced Mehwish and let her leave with Shehwar. In this scene, Shehwar thanks him for divorcing Mehwish and thinks this was ‘great’. Danish’s reaction to this basically summed up his feelings in this situation. His words also showed yet again what Mehwish meant to him. He made sure Shehwar knew that this was not great. Once again the timing and the delivery of these dialogues made all the difference. The viewers felt for Danish because of such dialogues in this episode.

Danish and Shehwar’s Conversation

Danish and Shehwar’s meeting in episode 11 was the most emotional scene of  Mere Pass Tum Ho. Shehwar had Mehwish’s permission to do whatever it took to convince Danish to leave her. Shehwar showed Danish the pictures which were taken in the hotel room when Shehwar and Mehwish were there together. Even though Danish was highly disturbed by seeing these pictures but he continued making excuses for his wife. This explanation he gave showed how far he was willing to go in order to save his marriage. These dialogues were penned down beautifully and Humayun Saeed’s expressions in this scene were superb. Right till the end Danish blamed Shehwar because he couldn’t even picture Mehwish not being a part of his life.

Danish Decides to Let Mehwish go

These dialogues were mind blowing, they were the essence of the twist no one expected. After looking at Mehwish’s pictures at the hotel, Danish did not go home and shout at her but he calmly sat down to explain to her how he felt when he saw those pictures. Danish always tried to make his wife happy but she was never happy with him. Therefore the smile on Mehwish’s face in those pictures was brand new for him. These dialogues are just awesome and one of the many reasons why the viewers fell in love with Danish’s character.

Roomi and Danish’s Scene

Roomi and Danish’s relationship has always been the most delightful aspect of  Mere Pass Tum Ho. Roomi was always more close to his father than he was to his mother. Roomi decided to go and stay in a boarding school after his mother left him. Roomi and Danish’s meeting when Danish goes to meet him in the boarding school was emotional. The way Roomi reassures his father was the most emotional part of this meeting. These dialogues were so touching and Roomi’s acting was wonderful in this scene.

Mateen Sahab Narrating His Story

Mateen Sahab was an important character in Mere Pass Tum Ho and his exit from the drama was emotional. Mateen sahab shared his story of regret which made the viewers feel for him more than ever. Through these dialogues the writer also conveyed that men too were not forgiven when they were unfaithful. Also that a man too becomes worthless when he does not value the woman who loves him. Muhammad Ahmed’s brilliant acting added to the emotional aspect of this scene. It was the best scene with the most heart touching dialogues.

Danish and Mehwish’s Confrontation

Danish decided Mehwish will not go to the office after he found out that she lied to her. This confrontation and the exchange of dialogues between Danish and Mehwish was penned down and directed so well. It showed how much had changed between them, how differently these two people viewed their relationship now and how eager Mehwish was to leave Danish. The dialogues of both these characters articulated their frame of mind perfectly.

Emotional Dialogues

In this scene Danish figured out that Mehwish was not going to listen to him. After reassuring her of his love repeatedly, he reminded her that Roomi was also part of their lives and if this marriage ever came to an end, he would also suffer. His dialogue about Roomi was another emotional and beautiful one.

Meaningful Dialogues

These dialogues were meaningful because they did not only give an insight to Danish’s character but also answered the questions which viewers were asking again and again. Many people were wondering why Danish was going along with everything knowing fully well that this could harm his marriage and his relationship with his wife. The writer through these dialogues answered that question in episode 9.

Mehwish’s State of Mind Explained

In episode 4 when for the first time Danish realized that Mehwish actually gave in to the temptation he confronted her more than once. This was one of those confrontations in which Danish tried to explain to Mehwish what she was doing and why it wasn’t acceptable.

Moosa (Raqse Bismil)

Moosa has to be one of the most unusual leading men in Pakistani dramas. He is a flawed character but his definite appeal makes him the top candidate for this list. The character has been penned down convincingly throughout. The writer showed the uncultured, emotional, impulsive, and rigid side of Moosa in the first few episodes. Once he fell in love and found out the truth about Zohra his character development started. Gradually, Moosa learned so much which he never thought he would have to learn, ever! He has completely changed in these 18 weeks and his journey continues to be the most engaging element of the drama. This character has the viewers’ undivided attention because Moosa’s strengths and weaknesses have been penned down beautifully by the writer. The fact that Imran Ashraf has owned this character throughout and has never hesitated to translate different shades of his personality on screen has made all the difference. Jalal (Aulaad)

Jalal is the head of the family in Aulaad who is constantly tested by his sons. Muhammad Ahmed is a phenomenal actor who always adds intensity to all the characters he plays. Afreen (Aulaad)

Afreen is a breath of fresh air in the drama serial Aulaad which has many selfish and negative characters. Afreen is a woman who is caring and loving, even though her husband does not support his parents but she always tries her best to make her husband understand that he is not being fair. She has some really positive traits but she has not been able to ‘help’ her husband and his family the way she would have wanted to. Even though she disagrees with her husband on so many things but she goes along with whatever he decides and does so without coming across as a bechari. The writer has shown through this character that sometimes the daughters-in-law can give the kind of love to their parents-in-law which the sons do not. Since there are two other daughters-in-law in the drama who are selfish and manipulative, Afreen balances out this negativity and keeps the portrayals from being stereotypical. Sunita Marshal has pulled off this character elegantly throughout hence making it stand out.

Mooni (Aulaad)

We are genuinely pleased to see an accurate representation of people with special needs in Aulaad. Mooni is one such character who has certain challenges because of which her parents have to constantly struggle to keep her situation from getting worse. Since every character in this drama serves a bigger purpose, we feel that Mooni also served the purpose of making people see that such people need unconditional love. They are also sensitive and loving individuals who are easily disturbed if they are met with challenges that are incredibly overwhelming. Through this character, the writer has also shown how important the support of the entire family is in order to keep such family members from feeling alienated. Qudsia Ali’s effortless portrayal made the viewers fall in love with her character. Mooni’s exit from the drama proved to be a turning point for many characters in the drama.

Adnan (Aulaad)

Adnan is one of the three sons in the drama serial Aulaad who disappoint their parents and even hurts them repeatedly. Even though his character is not likable, we truly appreciate how it has been penned down and translated on screen. Adnan has a weak personality which is why he is easily convinced by his wife who keeps on telling him to be more ‘selfish’. There is a good side to him but he does not care about his parents enough to put his foot down. This character shows how important it is for men to maintain a balance in relationships. Although Adnan is a sensible and intelligent man, he failed to keep this balance and therefore failed his parents. Furqan Qureshi has made sure that this character comes alive on screen in a way that the viewers do not have a problem connecting to it.

Aslam (Pehli Si Mohabbat)

Aslam from the drama serial Pehli Si Mohabbat is turning out to be such an interesting character as the story progresses. In the beginning, he came across as an immature and emotional young man but through his interactions with his family members who he holds dear, the viewers got to see a side of his personality that is likable and endearing. He is much more than a nakaam ashiq, he is a brother who witnessed his sister go through the worse, and that has shaped up his personality. As a grown man he is sensitive and does not want Rakhshi to go through what his sister went through. Even the careless element of his personality is never annoying but interesting addition to the character. Sheheryar Munawar has truly embraced this character and given it his best.

Sumbul (Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin)

Sumbul is the main lead in drama serial Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin. Despite of everything that happened to her, she never gave up and even now continues fighting for her freedom. Her backstory was presented on screen in such a way that the viewers had no difficulty relating to who Sumbul was and what shaped up her personality from the start. She was sold to Surraya auntie at a young age and even though she has been living this life for so long, she does not only wish to be free herself one day but she has a bigger objective of freeing all the other girls as well. Strong, sensitive, and wise, Sumbul is the kind of leading lady who reaffirms our faith in Pakistani dramas. Yumna Zaidi’s brilliant performance has definitely added more intensity to this character.

Najma (Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin)

Najma is a mother who supports her daughters even though it requires going against her husband’s will. She is not a rebel but an intelligent woman who is making a difference bit by bit. The character has been written down logically and translated on screen convincingly. She is a caring and nurturing woman who fights against all odds and is wise enough to know the challenges she faces. Samiya Mumtaz makes Najma’s character a treat to watch because she brings out her gentle and caring nature superbly on screen.

Naeem Sherwani (Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin)

Naeem Sherwani is a negative character yet he made it to this list because through this character the writer has intelligently highlighted the hypocrisy of our society. His sick mentality and his need to control women, unfortunately, represent the mentality of so many such men who blame women and want them to cover up because they are actually the ones with a dirty mind! He has a ‘fan following’ because a lot of people agree with his agenda and then there are others such as Qazi sahib who do not necessarily agree but go along with everything simply to be part of the ‘group’. Kashif Mehmood has done complete justice to this character.

Surraya (Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahin)

Surraya auntie runs a brothel and she was once a young girl who was sold just like all the other girls who work for her now. She lacks empathy; she is also highly manipulative and materialistic. This is another character that aptly represents a vicious circle. Even though she was once a victim of human trafficking, she does not think twice before putting the girls’ lives in danger. She learned to be cruel at a young age therefore all she cares about is material gains. The way she exploits girls and manipulates them has been presented so well on screen. Navid Shehzad is phenomenal in this role.

Haider’s Mother (Fitoor)

In the drama serial Fitoor, it won’t be wrong to say that the only wise and rational character is of Haider’s mother played beautifully by Ismat Zaidi. She has seen how hard her only child has struggled and how long it took him to move past the heartbreak, therefore now more than ever, she is adamant to turn things around. She is the kind of mother who understands and adores her son but is also not afraid to call him out when she feels he is losing sight of rationality. She has done what it takes to make her daughter-in-law Dilnasheen feel welcomed and a part of the family. She realizes that because Haider is still preoccupied with the thoughts of Mehmal, it is affecting his relationship with Dilnasheen and for that, she is being the voice of reason and calling spade a spade. In Pakistani dramas, it is a rarity to find such mothers-in-law who do not turn a blind eye to the faults of their own sons, therefore this character is not only refreshing but the best one from the drama serial Fitoor.

Ifrah (Qayamat)

Neelam Munir Khan has yet again done a character like Ifrah which probably happens to be the best thing about drama serial Qayamat. Ifrah is a strong-headed, emotionally independent, and intelligent girl who is sorted and knows what she wants out of life. Although things didn’t turn out to be quite favorable for her because she was forced into a marriage that she was not happy about, she sacrificed her happiness for the sake of her niece but still, she decided to approach it on her own terms. This is what sets her character apart. Ifrah was also intelligent enough to turn her parent’s condition around because she was able to figure out how her father was being treated unfairly. The best aspect about her character is that she doesn’t really bother about what others think about her, especially when she knows that she is in the right.

Meerab (Shehnai)

In Pakistani dramas, where all the men are known to be cold, indifferent, and flawed, Meerab’s character is the complete opposite and a breath of fresh air. He is emotional, he is sensitive and very much in touch with his feelings. The best part about him is that he is a people’s pleaser in a nice way and because he himself is so kind and nice, he sees those traits in others and often gets into trouble because he just can not say no. Meerab is not at all judgmental and believes in accepting everyone with their flaws and shortcomings. In Pakistani dramas, such characters are never really seen, this is why Meerab stands out so much and for all the right reasons. Affan Waheed should definitely do more roles like these, it is nice to see him experimenting and playing such characters to perfection.

Absar (Shehnai)

Absar is the head of the family in the drama serial Shehnai and what makes him so special and different is the fact that he is not just the head of the family because he happens to be the eldest son. He is actually someone who likes to keep the family ties intact, despite seeing how his family members often become a part of the family politics, he steers clear from it all and makes sure that these petty issues are not blown out of proportion in a way that may result in severing the ties. He keeps his whole family together while making sure that they all practice forgiveness, kindness, and respect while dealing with each other. Another aspect that is endearing about Absar is the relationship that he shares with his daughter, he trusts her completely and has given her enough freedom to confide in him.

Sami (Safar Tamam Hua)

Ali Rehman is one such actor who makes sure to take such characters who have a lot of layers and substance to them. The character of Sami is no different because he is the kind-hearted and compassionate person in the family who values his relationships even if it means he has to give up on what he loves the most. Sami has been neglected but as he grew older, he realized that even in the background, he has enough responsibility as it is to maintain the balance in the family. He is the one who listens to everyone’s problems and tries to find a solution. Sami would hardly complain about what is bothering him and because he is not so vocal about his issues, he often gets ignored. The way Ali Rehman has portrayed this character makes you feel for him and root for him that one day, he too will find his happiness and a way out from the traps that are holding him back.

Qifayat (Shehnai)

Qifayat is the problematic one, but because of the way this character has been written by Radain Shah and performed by Saleem Mairaj, it makes it one-of-a-kind. It is so interesting to see his antics where he uses his energies in creating one problem after another. Qifayat is well aware of the fact that no one in the family likes him but he continues to push his agendas without even paying heed to it. He is one such character who despite being negative and a trouble maker doesn’t really get on your nerves and makes it enjoyable seeing what he is upto.

Hajra (Raqeeb Se)

In the drama serial Raqeeb Se, the writer Bee Gul has brought forth such a situation which has probably not seen before in any other Pakistani drama. Through the character of Hajra, the writer has shown how big-hearted a woman can be, how selfless she can be and when she puts her mind to it, how nurturing she can be for everyone around her. Hajra has loved her husband and justfied it every step of the way and this is why she puts everyone around her in perplexity when they see her calmness and selflessness. Hajra’s love for Maqsood is her strength, which makes her selfless to accept the fact that her husband can share his life with a woman he has loved all his life. Hajra is like the binding force of this entire family and although she never gives herself enough credit, she is an integral part of Maqsood’s life who has provided him the home, the comfort he needed after all that he went through. Sania Saeed has breathed life into this character and made it a lot more special.

Sakina (Raqeeb Se)

Sakina has had a tough life, she knew that she won’t be able to find the happiness in her life but she chose to pay the price in order to ensure the safety and life of the man she loved. Sakina is full of secrets but she chooses silence over everything because she has come to terms with what her life has offered her. She has loved Maqsood all her life but just because she realizes that he has a life of his own, she feels burdened being around him. Sakina has never denied loving Maqsood yet at this stage of her life, she is still in a denial. Hadiqa Kiyani’s portrayal of Sakina is so measured that actually makes you feel her pain.

Nargis (Pehli Si Mohabbat)

Nargis is fierce, she is confident and she is sorted. Nargis has had her fair shares of heartbreak and has seen the ugliest side of life upclose, therefore she has come to this point that whatever her life has offered her, she has to cherish and value it. This is exactly why she has turned out to be such a dutiful and sincere wife and has accepted her step daughter with all her heart. Nargis is the kind of person who likes to empower others around her even if it means she has to give and nurture it by sacrificing a great deal. Nargis’ character is so layered but the best part about her is that she treats people the way they deserve to be treated – she can be your absolute best friend or your total nightmare, given what you want her to be.

Zainab (Pehli Si Mohabbat)

Zainab has faced rejection, sadness and heartbreak, and although she has come to terms with it, she is still recovering. The sad part is that because her own family, especially her brother and her mother chose not to hear her out and trust her, she finds it hard to move on. Zainab is a depiction of helpless and hopeless women in the society who could have had a better chance at life but were ripped off of their happiness. It is beautiful how despite not having much to give, she at least understands what her younger brother is facing and is always there to support him. Zainab comes up with some of the most profound advices for Aslam and the relationship she shares with him is simply beautiful. Uzma Hassan is at her finest in Pehli Si Mohabbat.

It won’t be wrong to say that the main plot of this series revolves around the fight between good and evil. The writer has done an outstanding job of fleshing out some of the most impressive characters which offer variety. There are those characters that have been likable throughout these 18 episodes. Then there are those which keep you guessing. As the story is progressing, we are being introduced to new characters, good and evil. All these characters have plenty of room for growth which keeps the viewers guessing. Some of these characters are perfect, others have their flaws. All of them have a definite screen presence.

The superb performances also play an important role in making these characters some of the best we have seen on Pakistani television. Although Ertugrul Ghazi is a Turkish series, it is not difficult for Pakistani viewers to relate to it. The reasons for that are many. The number one reason is that the series is essentially about the heroes of Islam therefore there is an obvious connection right there. Secondly, much of the family interactions and relationships we see in the series are more human than Turkish! This means that any human no matter what part of the globe they live in who shares the same values will easily be able to relate to them.

Unlike many of our dramas, this one doesn’t have a single negative character which would even slightly be appealing in any way. The writer, therefore, has ensured that he draws a big line between good and evil. You only root for the characters working for the promotion of the right values and you want to see those plotting against them punished.

Ertugrul is brave, fearless, just, wise, caring, and romantic. He is often misunderstood by his brother but he never holds that against him. Even when his father prefers to send his brother to Al-Aziz, he accepts the decision whole-heartedly. The actor Engin Altan Düzyatan has definitely done an outstanding job of portraying this amazing character on screen. This must have been a daunting task since the battle scenes required great skill and strength. Apart from that Engin Altan Düzyatan has ensured that he brings out the romantic and sensitive side of his character come alive on screen as his strength.

Suleyman Shah

Suleyman Shah is different from his son Ertugrul. He is definitely the wisest character in the play. He knows that his children and tribe look up to him therefore no matter how hurt he is with the betrayal of his brother, he always takes the higher road. You understand why Ertugrul has such strong values looking at how resilient Suleyman Shah is when faced with hardship. He never lets his anger gets the best of him.

Suleyman Shah sense that his younger son Gundogdu felt insecure and unworthy, instead of giving him a lecture, he decided to give him responsibilities which he would usually trust Ertugrul with. He made him feel secure and loved even though he was clearly disappointed in him. There are times when you wish that Suleyman Shah wouldn’t be so forgiving especially when it comes to his brother. But then that is what makes him a better person, someone you truly end up looking up to.

While watching the series Suleyman Shah continues to be the most impressive character. His wisdom often surprises you and you understand how he managed to rule for all these years while keeping his values intact. Serdar Gokhan has played this multilayered character in the best way possible. The soft and gentle expressions on his face always make you root for Suleyman Shah and side with him even when you feel that he is being a little too flexible.

Hayma Khatun

Hayma Khatun is a strong and balanced female character. She has a gentle side but at the same time, there have been so many times when she has been able to see through people the way her husband Suleman Shah couldn’t. A really wise ruler, courageous leader, a supporting wife with a vision, and a supportive mother, Hayma Khatun continues to be a powerful character in the series.

Just like the men in her tribe, she is shown taking up many different roles and excelling in all of them. Apart from all her other duties, she also manages the business run by women in the tribe. She also motivates her people and guides them in times when Suleman Shah is not well. Hülya Darcan has translated the strengths of her character so wonderfully on-screen.

Deli Dameer

Dameer’s role in the series has been vital right from the beginning. He is not just a goldsmith who makes the best weapons but most importantly, he is a loyal friend to Suleman Shah, a mentor to the alps and also someone who is there to guide Suleman Shah’s sons whenever they feel disillusioned. Dameer is also a really wise character. He is sensitive at the same time. His back story is being revealed as the story progresses. This back story definitely makes you fall in love with his character even more.

Dameer’s constant support for Suleman Shah is one of the best aspects of his personality and character. His relationship with his daughter shows what a caring and loving father he is. Dameer has a big heart and a human side which makes him even more appealing. He knows how to differentiate between friends and foes. With years of experience behind him, the advice he gives those he wants to guide sometimes prove to be game-changing.

Mehmet Çevik’s superb performance throughout definitely adds to the appeal of a character which is truly marvelous in more ways than one.

Ibn Arabi

Ibn Arabi is the kind of character which guides not only the characters in the series but in many ways the viewers too. The writer and the actor have done complete justice to this epic character which represents the actual personality of Ibn Arabi with utmost precision. Ibn Arabi’s character shows the actual role of religious figures and Sufis in society. His philosophies are both insightful and enlightening.

Ibn Arabi is someone who can literally look into people by just interacting with them. He has been there for those walking on the right path right from the beginning. When Shahabuddin went to him for advice, everything he said to him was such a good way of letting the audience know that leaving your worldly duties behind to walk on the path of Allah isn’t the best choice. Balancing the two is the best way to live your life.

Osman Soykut, the actor who is playing Ibn Arabi’s character in the drama, has an off-screen persona which is quite different from the way he translated his character on-screen. He looks perfect for the role and he has definitely succeeded in earning the kind of respect which this character truly deserves. Translating a historic character like this one must have been a huge responsibility and he has proven that he was most suitable for doing so.

Halima Sultan

Halima Sultan is even more likable because Esra Bilgiç’s on-screen persona is really appealing. Halima Sultan proved from the beginning that even in captivity she was not afraid of questioning her captors. She is brave as well as skilled in many ways. Without her character, we wouldn’t have seen the romantic side of Ertugrul. Even though she loves Ertugrul but she refuses to leave her brother and father to live a comfortable life with someone she loves. This goes to show that she is a really strong woman who is not afraid of fighting battles alongside the men.

Halima Sultan saved Ertugrul’s life and for now, it remains to be seen where her track will go from here. You root for Halima and Ertugrul and want to see them together.

Bamsi

Bamsi is one of Ertugrul’s three alps. Although all these three alps are extremely likable because they are fearless, experts at what they do and completely loyal to Ertugrul but Bamsi’s character is especially interesting since he adds a comic element to the series. He is the strongest of all the alps, he fights with not one but two swords. But, most of the time he does not even need a sword to kill his enemies but at the same time, he has a child-like personality. He loves to fight and when he finds no one else to fight with Dogan is the one who is always willing to help him practice his fighting skills. Their fights add light-heartedness to even the most serious scenes.

Nurettin Sönmez is so well-suited for Bamsi’s character. He brings out Bamsi’s strength and also his angry outbursts brilliantly on screen. He does especially well with highlighting Bamsi’s innocent side.

Shahabuddin

Shahabuddin joined the series after a few episodes had already gone on air and he is not faultless but there are many reasons why he is likable. He tries his best to guide his nephew and even after getting tired of doing so, he returns to his duties when Ibn Arabi asks him to do so. He makes a few mistakes because of which he is lured into a trap and he ends up paying a price for it. As the story progresses, he becomes more aware of the mistakes he has made and he does not bow down to all the pressure.

Even with his flaws, you find yourself rooting for Shahabuddin and hope that one day he will be out of prison. His track is interesting since it keeps you intrigued and wondering if Al-Aziz will ever see things for what they are. Gökhan Atalay owns these characters completely. Most of the viewers won’t even recognize him if they see him in real life, that is how well he has changed his appearance for looking suitable for the role.

Shehzade Nauman

Shehzade Nauman did not get a lot of screen time but he has shown many of his talents in these past few episodes. He is someone who is upright and even though he has ruled for so long, he is really down-to-earth. Even though he has been struggling for years but he does not believe in giving up. He is also someone who has always been so grateful to the Kayi tribe for giving them protection but he decides to carry on his mission. He is also brave, someone who knows how to protect his family.

Aykiz

Aykis is another positive and strong character in the drama. She is the only one among the leading women from the Kayi tribe, other than Hyma Khatun, who is truly loyal. She welcomed Halima Khatun when she came to the tribe. She loves Turgut and is not afraid to be with someone who is constantly under threat. Her memories help Turgut stay strong while in captivity. Aykis also has a great deal of respect for Ertugrul and is one of the few people who want to see Ertugrul and Halima Sultan together. She also has a playful and fun side. Her character has tons of potential.

A star as big as Hiba should have been given better options to choose from especially while she made such a big announcement.

Mamya Shajaffar

Mamya Shajaffar is a new entrant in the industry and she is already making waves. She is not just beautiful but also confident. She can probably make a burlap sack work but this gown is doing nothing for her. It just looked incomplete and the colour is not complimenting her either.

Ramsha Khan

Ramsha won with the saaree but this gown did not do much for her. It just looked like something pulled off a rack and a lot too costume-like and not very red-carpet worthy.

Mawra Hocane

Mawra Hocane took home the biggest trophy of the night but she did not do much for her look at Hum Awards. In a white outfit with hair and makeup that did not suit her at all, Mawra unfortunately landed on the worst dressed list. She is a beautiful woman and she looks way better without makeup than she did in this full glam.
