Besharam Episode 17 – Intelligent Piece of Writing!

Ohkay so, despite being teensy tiny bit slow, this episode was amazing & power-packed. I love watching this drama & I am so glad that even though so many episodes have gone on-air it is still going strong. I like how situations & all the characters are evolving & every episode brings a new chapter with it.

Haider has pretty much given up on his dream of becoming a politician & because he is feeling burdened by the household expenses, he is forcing himself to do a regular job that will guarantee some fixed income with which he will be able to take care of his family, but little did he know that just when he will stop thinking about everything, Asfand Sultan will appear in his life & ask him to join his party once again. It is amazing how Mishi has not once forced Haider to go out of the way to fend for his responsibilities because she knows that he is trying really hard. If Mishi had wanted, she could’ve easily told Haider to settle for a job but in stead, she chose to tell him to chase his dreams as she knows that politics is something that Haider is most passionate about. I am glad that they introduced this track in Haider’s life once again because things will become even more interesting.

Mishi chose to contact Qadeer because she not only had to talk about Saba but she also wanted to know about his final answer in regards to Humna too. I think it was a wise decision that Mishi made because she know that Saba’s parents would never believe what she will say & Saba will easily persuade them into believing that Mishi was lying, so she knew that if there was one person who’d actually understand the entire situation, it was Qadeer. However, I feel Mishi should have informed Haider about it too, not that it would’ve made much difference because Haider trusts her completely but it wouldn’t have hurt to have Haider’s back in this matter because one way or the other, Haider is linked to this situation because his part of the amount is missing as well.

Haider has made such a good impact on Sara in such a short span of time that even though she still feels uncomfortable at the idea of Mishi living with Haider in his humble abode, she has accepted their relationship. Sara has learned the truth that Haider might not be financially stable, but he knows how to protect Mishi & most importantly, he knows how to make her happy. Sara has seen how determined Haider is & she has also seen how Mishi is at a happy place in this relationship, so she can’t really complain much & that is why she was convinced to go to meet Mishi & Haider’s family with a wedding gift. I am glad that they didn’t cover that scene because they have shown enough of her for us to imagine what she must’ve said & how she must’ve reacted, but it was good to see Sara giving a nod of approval to Mishi & respecting her choices.

I must say, the character that has evolved into a very respectful personality is that of Khadija. It was so nice to see her complimenting Mishi over her smallest of efforts. Also, the way Khadija didn’t pay much heed to what Sara said also goes to show that she isn’t someone who will make a fuss about the facts that she herself is aware of. Khadija isn’t oblivious of the fact that Mishi comes from a very different background, that is why she wasn’t surprised at how Sara reacted & even told Mishi to not worry much about what she must be feeling or thinking. Also, I think it was quite sweet of Khadija when she refused to take the money from Mishi, saying that Haider gave that money to Mishi for her personal use. These are quite a few things that might not matter but actually do stand out in this drama because we rarely get to see such characters, such mothers in law, such husbands, such wives & such daughters in law in our dramas who deal with the situations wisely, who believe in respecting each other, who believe in letting go of the bitter stuff & who are not always on a hunt to makes the matters worse.

I loved loved loved Haider & Mishi’s scenes the most. The way they bicker, the way they taunt each other, the way they compliment each other, it is actually quite refreshing to see a husband & wife behaving like a ‘normal’ couple in the toughest of circumstances, because it shows that the power of love is so strong that they are ready to deal with anything & everything with a smile on their face. Mishi has made her place in Haider’s heart & his home too & Haider has done the same thing because the changes in Sara’s attitude are pretty explanatory. Even though in the initial stages of their marriage, it looked like Haider was quite demanding & believed in having things his way, but as their story progressed, Haider started reciprocating everything that Mishi was doing for him & his family & that is why, he made sure to form cordial terms with Mishi’s mother, as he could see that Sara’s behavior affected Mishi a lot.

So finally, Haider accepted Asfand’s offer because Mishi gave him the validation & push that he needed, but first Haider made sure to let him know that he was pretty much settled with his wife & he won’t be bothered if Asfand will once again have any objections over his marriage. It is good that Asfand doesn’t seem much concerned about Haider’s personal life & only wants his expertise in the field of politics. Mishi finally had a conversation with Qadeer, but she was shocked to know that Qadeer has moved on. I hope now when Humna will get to know this, she will kiss the idea of getting married to him good-bye because she deserves someone better than him for sure. Also, Sikandar got an answer from Wahab that he most certainly wasn’t expecting. I am still not sure if Wahab did this to get back at Haider or he was genuinely interested in Sikandar’s shop, I hope they do uncover the reason behind Wahab’s move as well.

Overall, this episode was amazing & I am so glad we’re getting to see a couple of such individuals who not only believe in supporting each other, but also believe in empowering each other with their validation, with their love & with their trust too. It was for the first time when Mishi also confessed her love for Haider & it was absolutely sweet. All the questions about ‘kangan’ were so filmy & done really well, I can’t thank the writer enough for giving us a couple that behaves normally because this is something that we never get to see in our dramas. The acting of all the actors & the direction of this drama has remained top-notch so far & I am so glad that even at this stage of the drama, the ending of each & every episode leaves us asking for more. Thank you so much team Besharam for giving us an incredibly amazing drama. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Besharam.

Besharam Episode 16 – Loved Loved Loved It!

Ohkay so, don’t you love it when you expect one thing & the drama-makers surprise you with another & oh, did I mention ‘pleasantly’ surprise you with another. I just loved loved loved this episode of Besharam & I can’t explain how happy the thought process of the writer makes me. I actually thank Sarwat Nazeer for coming up with such a brilliant drama & such such amazing characters that are such a breath of fresh air, who are unconventional & have so much of substance. I just love this drama & also, I love how every episode gives me something new to talk about!

I actually expected that Haider won’t take things lightly & what Mishal did will definitely create a rift between them but I was not only surprised but ecstatic at the way Haider handled everything. Yes, he had the right to be angry at her & he did let her know what he was going through as he could see that now his mother won’t sit still & she won’t give Mishi a chance. I loved that on his own, Haider immediately understood that it was only because of Humna that Mishi pushed herself to such an extent in order to help her but he was more concerned about what his mother will say or do. Haider is one of a kind & he is proving to be such a husband who doesn’t only believe in ‘saying’ that he will give time & space to his wife, but proves it with his attitude & behavior. Haider knew what Mishi did wasn’t easy for her as during the time she has spent with him, Mishi has depicted her mind-set & through her conduct she has let him know that she doesn’t fall in a category of those models who society deems as ‘besharam’ & that is why, Haider found it easy to forgive what Mishi did as he understood her perspective & knew that what she did was only to save Humna from a marriage that she most certainly wasn’t ready for.

Not only Haider, but Humna pleasantly surprised me too because she didn’t just become a spectator & let Mishi face the brunt for what she did. Humna made sure to let Haider & also Khadija know that she was the one who asked for Mishi’s help & it was only her helplessness that compelled Mishi to put up such an act. Haider didn’t listen to what she had to say but at least Humna conveyed her message to Khadija, which obviously didn’t calm her down completely but convinced her a tad bit that Mishi wasn’t entirely responsible for everything.

I loved how once again Haider’s entire family came together & walked past this phase too. Being a mother, Khadija’s concerns are rational & understandable. She wants to see her daughter getting settled with a decent life partner & she also understands that Mishi’s presence might become a hindrance but at least, she listened to what Haider had to say & eventually ended up giving Mishi another chance. The thing I like about Khadija the most is that she is a true mother, who shares her frustrations & fury with her children, but also respects them enough to listen to their stance & understand where they are coming from, which is why, Khadija tried to forget what her daughter in law did & ended up having a detailed conversation with her where she made her familiar with the do’s & don’ts of her household. Also, after this entire fiasco, I loved Mishi’s behavior the most, where she didn’t try to prove that what she did was right, rather she understood everyone’s agitation & gave them a fair chance to have their say as she knew that this act of hers saved Humna’s life & that is why she silently accepted everything because her mission was accomplished.

Finally, Haider is on the move now & he has made his career his priority. Haider has understood that his passion for politics won’t earn him bread, that is why he became serious about the job hunt. What pushed him a little further was the confession of Sikandar where he found out that the money that he was relying on was stolen. Haider also found out that Mishi was the one who paid the rent of his office, which was another push that he got that made him even more convinced that he had to make some money so that he could pay Mishi back as soon as possible. Haider obviously didn’t expect that Sikandar will give him such a tragic news but he most certainly is not the one who will let go of everything so easily. I am sure that Haider will make Sikandar pay him by hook or by crook & for that, I hope Sikandar finds the truth about Saba pretty soon.

Even though Kabeer’s confession seemed a bit unrealistic but then I guess he was drunk & had no control over his tongue, therefore he ended up telling Jaani the secret, that eventually Mishal found out about. It was actually beneficial that Haider shared what was on his mind with Mishail, that is why she was able to put two & two together & knew that the money Saba gave to Kabeer partially belonged to Haider too & this was something that was bothering Haider a lot. I really like how slowly & steadily, Mishi has become a part of Haider’s family & his life & now he is at that stage where he easily shares his problems with her like any husband usually would.

I loved the conversation Haider & Mishi had about peaceful sleep that Mishi experiences in Haider’s home. Mishi is definitely at a happy place in this relationship & more than happy, she is content with her decision & that is why she is giving it a 100% & what’s even better is that despite feeling a little insecure, Haider also sees how Mishi has settled herself in this new phase of her life which often leaves him stunned because Mishi is turning out to be like he never really imagined or expected her to be.

Overall, this entire episode was amazing & I was craving for more when it ended. Mishi & Haider are past the stage where they were understanding each other & were hesitant. Now they are a team & more than that, they have understood how things work & what they both expect from each other, that is why they are making things work the best way possible. I am so glad that Haider quickly put everything in the past & forgave Mishi for what she did because that definitely could’ve made things worse but I am so so so glad that the story of this drama is far from being typical & that’s the best part about it, for which I will thank the writer once again for giving us something totally new & different amidst the rough patch where every other drama is either about a divorce or a halala! Obviously, another best part of this drama is the chemistry between Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed & their top-notch acting of course. I must say, I love the to-the-point approach of the director the most, he surely has done a brilliant job & I love the editing of this drama as well. The creative team has really done justice to such a powerful script & it is really good to see such an amazing script being dramatized to perfection. Anyways, I can’t wait to see how Mishi will deal with Saba in the episodes to come, I hope she makes her confess her mistakes in front of her parents so that they get a reality check. Please share your thoughts about this amazing amazing amazinggg episode of Besharam. :)

Besharam – Episode 15! (Relationships Done Right)

Ohkay so, after quite a few episodes, I liked this episode of Besharam a lot better because things between Haider & Mishi have started working out but what happened in the last part of the episode does suggest that Mishi will land in deep trouble for what she did. I wish as they are showing us the personal lives of Haider & Mishi, they had shown us their professional lives too. Yes, Mishi has stopped modelling but it would’ve been better if they had shown Haider pursuing his career in politics because to see a man with so much of passion for politics wasting his time just like that doesn’t seem justified.

What I liked the most about this episode was the way it was shown that Mishi is becoming a part of Haider’s family & Haider is making an effort to become a part of Mishi’s family as well. It definitely has taken a lot for Mishi to make her place in Haider’s home & now her efforts are being acknowledged by Haider a lot. It was good to see Khadija sharing a conversation with Mishi too, may be because she was looking forward to Humna’s proposal but other than that, she herself has realized that Mishi is not like what she used to think about her. Haider’s compliments were done well & it shows how a man’s encouragement can bring a positive change in a woman, no matter how level-headed or independent she might be because a woman always needs love & support & that aspect has been covered brilliantly in this drama by showing Haider & Mishi’s relationship. I totally enjoyed the conversation that the entire family of Haider had with each other, it actually made them look like a close-knit family & the timing of all the actors & the chemistry between them was perfect too.

Just as much Mishi takes her as her duty to help Haider’s family to the best of her abilities, Haider also feels that same way, that is why without even informing his wife, he went to her home to have a conversation with his mother in law. I guess Haider has realized that Sara is lost & she is emotionally fragile, that is why he went to extend her some emotional support & Haider knows that really well because he has seen the regret & sadness in Mishi’s eyes every time she talks about her mother. Haider has seen that even though Mishi might not say it openly, everything that Sara has done & all her decisions have taken a toll on all her children & this is why Haider tried to make her realize that she still can rectify the situation & amend the broken ties. Even though Manan didn’t make an appearance but looks like he will be showing up in the future episodes. Manan ran away because he was tired of seeing his mother getting involved with one man after another & the way Mishi described that entire situation did actually make me feel for her & I believe Sara is the reason why Mishi despite being a model never went on that path as she knew that all that stuff comes with a baggage which not only affects the person involved but also takes a toll on the people that surround them too. I really liked the way Haider made Sara realize that may be Manan was waiting for her & she needed to break the ice. I am sure it won’t be long when Sara will start depending on Haider emotionally & then she will eventually admit that Haider is Mishi’s Mr. Right.

Saba finally dealt with the situation but I am not convinced that Kabeer won’t bother her again. I am sure he will keep on blackmailing her but for now, Saba did shoo him away. Sikandar found out that a huge amount was missing & it was good to see that he was more worried about the fact that he was answerable to Haider. It shows that at least he does have some conscience in him that made him worried about the fact that he has to fulfill the promise he made to Haider, even if he hasn’t told him the actual amount that he got as an advance payment. I am not sure how Sikandar will find out that Saba is the culprit but I hope he finds out soon before Saba creates an even bigger trouble for the entire family.

Well, Khadija approved the proposal that came for Humna but I will say that the last scene did seem a little unnecessary. They could’ve just shown that after spotting Mishail in the house, the doctor’s sister walked away because that was what Khadija was dreading the most, at least this way Mishi wouldn’t have had to put up an act of ‘besharmi’ in front of the guests. I am not sure how Haider will react to that but I have faith in Humna that she will explain things to Haider that she was the one who asked for Mishi’s help, but not really sure if she will do that because when it comes to Mishi, apart from Haider, no one takes a stand for her. I actually really like Mishi’s selflessness & admire her quality where she always walks an extra mile for the people she’s associated with, like she decided to pay the office rent because she was concerned about the school that Haider allowed that woman to run in his office space. Haider & Mishail are two characters that I genuinely like.

Overall, this episode was quite interesting & I loved seeing the entire family of Haider coming together. I am sure after what Mishi did, Khadija won’t forgive her easily but I hope Humna also defends Mishi like she always does. The acting of all the actors is amazing but for some reason, I really really enjoy watching Mehmood Akhtar’s scenes because he adds such realism to his performance that it becomes a treat to watch him. I really like Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed’s chemistry & they both for sure are one of the best on-screen couples that we got to see recently. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Besharam.

Besharam – Episode 14!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam was really good. Things are moving forward & they are definitely going to become a lot more interesting as the story will progress. For the first time I felt that the relationship of Haider & Mishi suffered because they both failed to bend & compromise to understand each other but a lot of times it is Haider who makes sure to let Mishi know what he genuinely feels for her & Mishi just brushes it off.

I really felt that Mishi was at fault for not telling Haider the truth about Saba & her desperate attempt of getting into modelling. When Mishi found out that Saba lied to Haider, I think it was unwise of Mishi to keep things from her husband & expect Saba to acknowledge what she has done for her already was a huge favor. Yes, Mishi did tell Saba to deal with her own problems herself but she failed to understand that what Saba said made Haider doubt her a tad bit, which definitely is not something that they both can afford right now especially when Haider was being a little touchy. Mishi ignored explaining herself & that resulted in Haider making some judgmental remarks about her which she most certainly wasn’t expecting. I think the best part about their relationship so far was the fact that they both didn’t let the communication gap grow between them but I hated seeing that emerging a bit because of a stupid & selfish girl like Saba who is conniving enough to lie to save her sorry being but doesn’t have the guts to be strong enough to own her mistake & take the right step to amend it.

Mishi returned & she got the welcome she never expected, even though she didn’t let the meeting of Saba & Haider cause a doubt in her mind but she most certainly was shocked at the way Haider treated her. I really liked the developing relationship between Humna & Mishi where Humna has started acknowledging the fact that Mishi is her brother’s wife & she has to respect her due to her status in the family. Khadija is still being unreasonable & I don’t think she will change any time soon.

Saba ended up stealing the money that Wahab handed over to Sikandar after he gave him the signed papers. Saba really is crossing the lines & I am sure she will land herself in a bigger & deeper trouble because Kabeer won’t stop after this either. Once Kabeer will know that Saba has started to fall under the trap of his blackmailing then he will continue to do that. I am glad that at least Sikandar is going to suffer a bit because he wasn’t honest with Haider & has always made his family suffer too!

Haider leaving the politics came as a shock to me. I thought he was still trying but just after getting dismissed from one party, Haider has pretty much given up on his career that he always dreamed of, which I think is not in line with his character because if there was one thing that Haider was passionate about, it was politics & in the initial episodes, I didn’t think just a dismissal from a single party will bring him down so hard that he will step away from this career path completely. However, the way he helped the teacher was really sweet, despite suffering from a financial crisis at this point, Haider didn’t think twice before lending a helping hand to someone who he thought was doing a good job giving children a free education. I am sure Mishi will try to help him because she attended Muneer’s phone call & got to know about the root cause that was bothering Haider these days, but I really wish that Haider manifests the opportunity for him himself & steps into politics once again because I really am interested to see him pursuing a career that he certainly is made for.

Khadija wants Humna to get married to someone but the way Humna relied on Mishi was really good. I am sure Mishi will start sharing her feelings with Humna too & they boht will end up helping each other. Humna knows that Mishi is reasonable & she is wise, so she knew that she might talk to Haider & convince him to help Humna out. The way Haider took a stand for Mishi in front of his mother was good too, Haider knows when & how to maintain a balance because this time around he knew that his mother was being irrational. Mishi is Haider’s wife & there’s no denying to that, so her demand of Mishi not being present at the time the guests will arrive didn’t really make sense. Haider’s confession that he loved Mishi was really good too but seems like Mishi hasn’t fallen for him just yet. Yes, Mishi does appreciate Haider’s strong-willed personality & she has a lot of admiration for him because he gives words to his feelings about her & takes a stand for her every single time, but right now, Mishi thinks she is putting up with everything due to a commitment that she made to herself but I am sure she will soon realize that she is doing it out of her love for Haider.

Overall, this episode was really good. I really enjoy the way Wahab never misses an opportunity to give Sara a reality check by saying things about her that are nothing but true. I really hope the entire Saba-Kabeer scenario is done & dealt with as soon as possible & she stops pestering Haider & Mishi because she is becoming a bone of contention between the two of them which seems a bit unnecessary, since Haider & Mishi are two mature & wise individuals. Besharam – Episode 13!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam was interesting but they have started taking things a bit slow & honestly speaking I am dreading that things are going to become difficult for Haider & Mishail because the external factors are going to affect their relationship & they both will fall prey to the circumstances.

Sikandar told Khadija about his plans of selling the shop but he actually didn’t come clean & didn’t resort to honesty. Sikandar is selfish & mean & unfortunately, he thinks that he will progress in life & this deal of selling the shop will bring him ease & happiness, which he is sadly mistaken about. Sikandar has a few responsibilities to take care of, that is why he isn’t thinking about the future because if he had, he would’ve understood that selling of this shop will take a toll on both the families in the long-run. Sikandar is quite ecstatic to know that Wahab is giving him a good amount but he can’t foresee that this money won’t last him for a life time. Haider could feel that Sikandar had made up his mind that’s why he didn’t retaliate much & went ahead with what his uncle demanded.

It was made clear that Wahab knows that Haider also has an ownership of this shop, that is why he hinted about ruining a deal for someone. I am sure in order to make Haider suffer, Wahab will deceive Sikandar too but I hope Sikandar won’t make Haider face the brunt for it because it is Sikandar who became greedy after getting an offer from Wahab & Haider had no say in this matter whatsoever. The way Wahab kept on convincing Sikandar to hand over the shop to him went to show that Wahab will definitely betray Sikandar’s trust, which he actually deserves but sadly, Haider’s family will end up suffering some loss too but I am hopeful that Haider will take care of his family members himself.

Saba has fallen in a deep pit & she knows that it is only Mishi who can help her in this situation. Honestly, I want Sikandar to find out the truth about his daughter so that he can realize that what he did with Khadija, Humna & Haider was wrong & also, he was at fault for judging Mishail because of her career choices. I want Sikandar to find out that it was Mishi who helped Saba & saved her life from getting ruined. Saba will definitely come in contact with Mishi & then we’ll have to see what solution Mishi will come up with in order to deal with Kabeer!

I really am not happy about the coverage that Sara is getting & I am wondering how long is she going to milk it? When the drama began we saw that Mishail did what she deemed fit so it is hard to absorb that she is letting Sara dominate her without even realizing that Sara has an ulterior motive. Yes, Mishi has grown far more considerate about her mother after her marriage but to see her putting everything on hold for her mother doesn’t go with her personality. Mishi knows that Haider needs her too & he stood by her side & gave her the courage when he found her worried about her mother, so it’s time for Mishi to go back & reciprocate the love & attention Haider showered at her. All the things Haider said to Sara about giving security & protection to Mishi were quite sweet & I hope Mishi goes back ASAP because otherwise this track will end up getting dragged & it might as well ruin the charm too.

Haider saw what Mishi was upto at her mom’s house & he was disappointed, but what hurt him more was the fact that Mishi didn’t stop him from leaving & didn’t bother explaining to him about what he saw her doing with her friends. I think Mishi really needs to return to Haider’s house, work on her marriage in stead of letting Sara take up all her time & attention. I like Humna’s presence in the drama & what makes her character even more likable is the fact that she is honest & blunt & doesn’t hold back from saying the truth, that is why she told her mother to see the good in Mishi & also told Haider that he was agitated because Mishi wasn’t around, haha!

Overall, this episode was pretty decent but things have started to go a bit slow. I hope they revive the aspect of Haider’s political career as well & also open up the truth of Saba on Sikandar as soon as possible because that way Sikandar & Shakira will snap out of the fixation of calling Mishail besharam time & again. As always, the acting of every actor was spot on in this episode & the direction was top-notch too, the only thing I feel is that things need to get moving because it was the fast pace that got us hooked to this drama in the first place & oh, the chemistry between Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed was spot on too, they both make a perfect on-screen couple & I hope we get to see them again working together in a love story soon. & yes, there are so many things that work for me & one of it is the dialogue writing & a touch of humor that a few conversations have. I actually lol’ed at the things Sikandar said to Shakira about watching ‘Nagin’, I must say Mehmood Akhtar’s timing & expressions are amazinggg! Besharam – Episode 12!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam was good in bits & pieces. A lot of scenes were interesting & a few were good but overall, this episode gave us what we want to see the most & that is, the relationship that Mishi & Haider share but I must say, the pace has slowed down a tad bit & the focus has been shifted on the supporting characters more than the main characters, which I somewhat mind. I hope they bring the focus back on Mishi & Haider ASAP because they’re the main reason why we tune to this drama in the first place. :)

Finally, someone asked Mishail what she likes about being married to Haider & what she finds it in him that she doesn’t mind sacrificing everything for him. I loved the things Mishi said to Sofia about Haider. It’s like in such a short span of time, Haider has given her this sense of security & protection that she has longed for all her life. Even though Mishi & Haider still have a long way to go when it comes to understanding each other but just in the beginning Haider has given her the safety net & he has given her so much of freedom to realize that he is the perfect match for her. Mishail does acknowledge all the little things that Haider say or does for her, which is quite refreshing to see. I find the character of Mishail really nice where she focuses more on the positive side of the things & doesn’t bother much about the shortcomings that Haider according to others might have.

I must say I like the way the relationship between Sofia & Mishail has improved. When Sofie came, Mishi could barely tolerate her & she didn’t even want to share a space with her but ever since she has gotten married, she has seen how Sofie is trying hard to keep things normal between Mishi & Sara. Sofie is acting like a binding force & being the eldest daughter, she is dealing with the situation quite wisely, that is why it was good to see Sofie & Mishi sharing a heart-to-heart conversation with one another. Also, I must say, the way they both take each other’s taunts & sarcasm in good spirit is quite interesting too. It’s like both the sisters know & understand each other well, that is why they don’t get offended & feel comfortable in saying the truth out loud in front of each other.

Sikandar got to say what he wanted to but I am glad that Haider & even Humna defended Mishi in front of Khadija & fortunately, things weren’t blown out of proportion as I as expecting them to. It turned into a favorable situation for Mishi because Khadija got to realize that Humna & Haider don’t see the truth in what Sikandar was saying & also, Mishi didn’t have to face the brunt for anything. I liked that Mishi & Haider spoke to each other & didn’t turn it into an issue of ego where no one was in a mood to break the ice. Haider told Mishi that she should come back & she agreed.

Finally, Jamal bid farewell to Sara & told her that he won’t be in contact with her. I really find it hard to relate to Sara’s character at times because she is a grown up woman, but to see her acting like a teenager doesn’t make sense at times. She is still a hopeless romantic in search of love & she doesn’t realize that her disturbed emotions take a toll on her daughters too. Looks like apart from Sofie & Mishail, Sara has another daughter too named Manal, not sure if she will make an appearance or not though, but I wouldn’t mind if she does.

I enjoyed the scenes of Wahab, Sofie, Haider & Mishail. It was good to see Haider taking a role of a family member & doing what family members do for each other in such difficult situations by extending an emotional support. Mishail & Haider shared a conversation & for the first time, Haider got an insight into what Mishi has gone through all her life because of a mother like Sara. I liked the way Haider didn’t cross the line yet he didn’t let Sara belittle him, he kept on giving back to her & that somehow broke the ice & made it look like they will form a relationship in the near future. Right now, Sara might not be in a mood to see the good in Haider but I am sure she won’t be able to keep up her opinion against him for long.

On Saba’s front, her mother is tired of her & she is looking for proposals. Saba is definitely not in the mood but despite everything that she has done, I like that she sympathizes with her brother & Humna too, she does understand that Humna wasn’t at fault & both Qadeer & Humna are being punished for the wrong no one did. Saba has seen that Mishi is a good person, that is why all the things she said to Qadeer showed that her opinion has changed & may be I hope she convinces her mother & father too that Mishi is a good person & pushes them to allow Qadeer to get married to Humna.

Overall, this episode was good but I hope the shift the focus on Mishi & Haider & their careers again. Everyone has acted brilliantly in this drama but I must say Malik Raza is phenomenal as Wahab, his timing is perfect & all the actors have matched his timing flawlessly too. The chemistry between all the actors & characters has elevated the level of this drama & has made it a treat to tune to. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Besharam. :)

Besharam – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam was amaaaaaazing. I loved the note at which it began & like I always say, the note at which it ended left me looking forward to what is yet to come. I am really glad that the writer came up with such a brilliant script but what makes me even happier is the way the director has executed it. Everything in this drama, be it dialogues, acting, scenes, characters, situations, direction & editing is on-point & you just can’t fault it.

Haider actually has started expecting more from Mishail, that is why when she showed up a bit late, he was disappointed. It’s not that he wants her to serve him but it was just a longing that he felt for her presence around him. I love how they both come clean in every single situation, Mishail didn’t think twice before telling him the truth that she wanted to come earlier but it was his mother who didn’t allow that to happen & also she told him about what she heard his mother saying. Haider knows that Mishi is putting up with a lot & for that, he feels thankful & burdened at the same time too because he knows that Mishi doesn’t deserve this but the way she copes up with everything actually shows her determination of making this marriage work.

Haider heard when Mishail spoke to her mother on the phone, that is why, that conversation forced him to say what he didn’t want to. Despite all the efforts that Mishi is making, Haider feels that she is not made for this & he doesn’t understand why she is settling for the life Haider has offered her so far, that is why after thinking things through, he told Mishail to return to her home, her lifestyle where things won’t be so hard on her. The way the writer has developed the understanding between these characters is amazing, it’s like even though they both don’t really talk much, they know exactly what their shortcomings are & what the other person might be feeling or going through because of that.

I am glad that Mishail showed up at the right time & rescued Saba from the evil intentions of that photographer but what made me furious was the way Saba lied in front of her father to save her sorry being. I knew she will stir some trouble for Mishail & that is going to happen now because Sikandar will barge into Khadija’s home with a bag full of accusations on Mishail for being a bad influence on his daughter. If only parents of girls like these would think of taming their own spoiled children before being judgmental about others & blaming them too. I really hope when Sikandar shows up, Mishail is present at that point but I think Mishail will be with her mother & sadly, Sikandar will get to spew the venom against her.

It is actually nice to see how Humna has started showing acceptance towards Mishail & not only that, she has also started acknowledging the fact that Mishail is now their family member & she is Haider’s wife. I know Khadija does sound unreasonable at times but it is good how she often notices the gestures that Mishail does, it makes her reactions seem natural & I am sure it won’t be too long when she will wholeheartedly accept Mishail as a part of her family. I liked how despite knowing that Khadija didn’t want Mishail to be in the hospital, Mishail took charge of the situation, arranged a ride for Humna & Khadija & also decided to stay back with Haider, it would’ve made Khadija realize that Mishail is serious about this relationship & she is not mucking around!

Sophie & Sara’s scenes were fillers & I most certainly don’t mind that but I was surprised when Mishail decided to show up at Sara’s place & not only that, she agreed for an overnight stay too, especially when she knew that Haider might need her. I think this was the time when Mishail should’ve been with Haider as they both could’ve put this time to good use to understand each other even better but not sure how Haider will react to this. It was actually quite nice to see how Haider was regretting what he said to Mishail about leaving & he also knew that if he keeps on insisting, she might actually leave!!!

Overall, this episode was amazing & I am definitely looking forward to more. I must say, Saba Qamar looks absolutely pretty & it is good to see how she has polished herself over these years. I think the makeup artists have done a wonderful job too where they glam her up but keep her look a tad bit natural too. I must say what I love the most about this drama is the way the relationship of Mishail & Haider is developing. All these years when I watched the dramas & saw misunderstandings developing between the couples due to communication gap, I would always think why the characters don’t convey their feelings & cover the events in their words properly, so, I am relieved to see that Mishail & Haider have everything apart from communication gap which is a bonus. I actually feel a sense of relief when I see both of them conversing with each other with honesty & clarity, because it doesn’t leave a room for a misunderstanding to develop. I thank the writer for giving us such amazing characters that are all about honesty & make the straight-forward people look good! Also, I must will thank the director for adding that touch of reality in all the situations because it makes us connect to everything immediately, like the comment that Sikandar passed about Shakira wearing a Lehanga on her way to hospital & also the way Haider looked at Muneer trying to tell him that he only wanted to be with Mishail, these little things somehow complete the situations & make them seem very real, which I love. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this amazing episode of Besharam. :)

Besharam – Episode 10!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam, like all the previous episodes was quite interesting too. Finally, we got to see how Haider & Mishal started to behave like normal couples & started to have normal conversations with each other & we were also told what sort of feelings Haider has for Mishal & how Mishal has started to see the positivity in Haider’s attitude, which made me smile throughout this episode because everything related to this duo was amazing & sweet.

Zaman Amir finally told the reasons why he came in contact with Haider. He wanted Haider to divorce Mishal so that the CM could get married to her because according to them, Haider wasn’t suitable for Mishal as he didn’t have to the social status that Mishal had. Haider might not have confessed yet but his possessiveness for Mishal sheds a light on the intense love he feels for his wife, that is why despite telling Zaman Amir off sternly with finality, he was finding it hard to absorb everything that he heard. Before getting married to Mishal, Haider never ever imagined that their marriage would attract such people too where they will test his patience so badly.

It was good to see Mishal taking interest in the family matters of Haider & trying to help the situation. The moment Haider approached Mishal was when I thought that he will tell her off again but it was good to see that he gave Mishal a chance to speak & share her say too. Haider knows that Mishal is opinionated & rightly so, that is why he doesn’t mind her sharing her thoughts but yes, right now he does understand that his mother hasn’t shown a full fledged acceptance to Mishal that is why he told her to not speak about Humna & Qadeer’s scenario as Khadija is quite sensitive about that topic, which was quite wise of Haider I believe.

Haider has started to understand that his wife has some needs too & even though she is independent, doesn’t mean that he can relax & let her fend for herself. The promise that Haider made to Mishal about fulfilling all the duties & responsibilities he had towards her as a husband was actually quite sweet & that is why, Mishal started to see the niceness in him & she has started to develop a faith that her decision of marrying Haider wasn’t wrong. It is actually quite nice that even though most of the time it is Haider who does the talking & gives instructions to Mishal, but when she speaks up for herself, he allows her to speak & doesn’t cut her words short. It actually shows how Haider also knows where to draw a line by understanding that a girl like Mishal will have an opinion & she is allowed to speak up too.

The highlight of this entire episode for me was the conversation that Haider had with Khadija where he tried to make her understand how she can bring a change she wants to see in Mishal by being patient & soft-spoken with her, & that too when Mishal could hear everything that her husband was saying about her to his mother. It was an absolute treat & yes, we need more husbands like Haider in our dramas who know how to maintain a balance between their mothers & wives & who can be authoritative while also knowing how to be accommodating as well. I was actually quite happy to know that Mishal heard everything that Haider said because she knows that she’s already putting in a lot of effort, but finally she got to know that Haider acknowledges everything & doesn’t mind giving her the time she needs to adjust to his lifestyle completely. That was an awww wala moment!!!

Well, sadly, Haider’s refusal landed himself in deep trouble & looks like the CM sent his goons to teach Haider a lesson. Everyone found out & it was sad to know that Khajida once again blamed Mishal for everything. I wish Haider’s friend in stead of only taking Mishal’s name had told the complete story of what Zaman Amir said about CM’s intentions of marrying Mishal, at least that way Khadija would’ve understood that Haider took a stand for his wife so then she wouldn’t have blamed Mishal unnecessarily.

Ummm, not much thrilled about Saba & her scenes though but I am afraid that everything that she’ll do will only bring a bad name to Mishal because Saba’s family will straight away accuse her of being a bad influence on Saba & it won’t take everyone much time to judge Mishal because everyone has seen how Saba has been spending so much time with her. Everything that happened on Sara’s side wasn’t interesting as well. Sara’s now coming across as a spoiled brat who thinks she can rule anyone & everyone, but it is good to know that Mishal isn’t going to fall prey to her tactics. Mishal knows that the only thing that Sara’s concerned about is money, so she gave her what she wanted. It was good to know that at least Sofia had some compassion for her younger sister but she is helpless too as she can not overrule her mother’s orders & can’t stand up for the right like Mishal used to. The tiff between Wahab & Haider was done nicely too, Wahab is funny & what not but he was actually crossing the line & it was good to see that Haider set him straight. I hope Wahab doesn’t take everything seriously & doesn’t turn it into an ego issue because then he will also push Sara’s agenda of parting Mishal with Haider, which will make his character look negative & I don’t want that to happen.

Overall, this episode was quite interesting. I can’t wait for the next episode already. It is so amazing that 10 episodes have gone by & our interest is further developing in the story because each & every episode leaves us asking for more. All the actors have done a brilliant job & I love Saba Qamar’s candidness as Mishal. Zahid Ahmed is phenomenal as Haider as well & to see them both together in such brilliant roles is a treat in itself. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Besharam.

Besharam – Episode 09!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam took the story forward & showed a tinsy bit of progress in the story. I must say, I am totally hooked to this show & this is the only drama that I look forward to every week. I love how the personalities of all the characters have been established & each one of them stands apart in their own certain way. However, I wish to see some more scenes of Haider & Mishi together & I want to see them working together to strengthen their relationship with each other.

As much as the character of Saba is interesting, I think she is getting a tad bit more coverage than she deserves. The entire scene of Saba trying to become a part of Mishi’s group seemed unnecessary but yes, one thing that disappointed me was the way Saba first lied to Mishi & then to her mother. I actually thought that Saba was naive, straight forward & adorable but the face that we saw of hers this time around suggested the opposite. It was understandable that she gave those details to her mother in a hope of bagging some suits that she was eyeing, which was realistic & amusing but there was no need for her to say one thing to Mishal & use the same things against her in front of her mother because she had no reasons to do that.

Qadeer finally decided to make a move & call Humna because just like her, even he is finding it hard to move on & he isn’t happy with his parent’s decision. I loved the consistency in Humna’s attitude & character because she first got introduced as someone who wasn’t afraid of putting forth her opinion but in a very respectable manner, that is why even now when Qadeer tried to play a blame game with her, she politely refused to accept that & told him that she wasn’t responsible for what Haider did & the one who was at the wrong side of the fence was Qadeer & not Humna. I liked how she didn’t think twice before making Qadeer realize that he was a weak person who couldn’t stand by her side when things got rough.

As much as I love watching Haider & Mishal’s scenes & as much as I love how Mishal reacts to Haider’s instructions, I wish to see a bit more development in their track where in stead of seeing Haider conveying do’s & don’t to Mishi, he actually talks to her & has a conversation with her over different things, because that will be quite interesting & it will be a perfect way to show a development in their relationship, as so far all we have seen Haider doing is either conveying a message of his mother to Mishal or telling her what she should & shouldn’t do in his house as his wife. It is amazing to see that Mishal is putting up with everything & she is giving Haider, his mind-set, his values & his family a fair bit of chance. It is good to see Mishal being a woman of her word & sticking by the promise she made to Haider. Everything about their scenes & relation is perfect but I need some more meaningful conversations, please.

Haider has finally understood that he has lost his chance in Asfand Sultan’s party that’s why he decided to start from the scratch, which was interesting. It is good to know that Haider believes in self-reliance & is independent enough to make decisions for himself. Haider is an optimistic person that is why the moment one door closed, he started searching for a way to open another door for him in politics. I like how they haven’t made Haider’s career a smooth sailing & a lot of challenges are thrown in which make his journey a lot more realistic. Haider’s exclusion from Asfand’s party has attracted a lot of attention & that’s why Zaman Amir showed up with a plan which was all about using Haider against Asfand’s party. I am sure Haider will not budge & will not accept this offer but it will force him to think & come up with a better plan.

Wahab didn’t get much coverage in this episode but he added life to the one scene that he got. It is hilarious how he puts up with his wife & her tantrums whereas he isn’t oblivious of the fact that he deserves someone who will love him & accept him for the way he is. Wahab’s lecture to the maid was quite interesting, just because he made her refer to him as Wahab Sahab was enough for him to believe that he bossed around at least one person, which was enough of a validation for a man like him who hardly gets any respect from his own family, lol. Sara is thinking about parting Mishi & Haider & I am sure she will devise a plan with the help of Wahab. I wish Jamal keeps her occupied enough that she doesn’t get the time to ruin Mishal & Haider’s relationship & marital life.

Overall, this episode was quite nice & I enjoyed watching it. All the actors are doing such a fine job & the director & the editor deserve a huge round of applause for such a perfect execution of such a brilliant script. I must say I love the OST, it is quite soothing & is being used at the right time. I am loving the fact that this story is all about two strong individuals who’re trying to compromise & understand each other, which is quite refreshing to see. Besharam – Episode 08!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam didn’t offer much but it did take the story forward a bit in terms of characters & the changes they are going through & have started to feel in their perspectives. I am so glad that I tuned to this drama because it has a set of strong characters that know how to deal with the pressures in a best way possible & that makes it a very interesting watch.

I loved how Haider tried to convince his mother that Mishi will do everything to please her while looking at his wife with an expression that she should understand & put up an act in front of Khadija. Mishi agreed that she’d say no to modelling only because she wanted to give respect to Haider as he has initiated this aspect in their marriage where he believes in giving Mishi the respect she deserves & Mishi decided to reciprocate that gesture too. The glances that they both shared were so amusing which once again showed the level of understanding both Mishal & Haider have started to develop with each other. Mishal did however confess that she only agreed to the no modelling notion because she didn’t want to let Haider down in front of his mother which was quite considerate of her. It is actually quite nice to see how Mishal has slowly & steadily started to understand that this relationship means something & it deserves the utmost attention & care because they both have made a promise & now it is their duty to nurture it. I found it actually quite sweet that just as much Mishal was trying to compromise, Haider was doing his best to compromise too in order to make Mishal feel comfortable, accommodated & a part of his life & family.

The bits & bobs of Wahab were actually a treat to watch. I know Sofia didn’t laugh at his joke but I most certainly did. He says he is ready to solve their problems but little does he know that he is only adding more fuel to the fire. Wahab changed his stance quickly because he knew that he won’t be able to deal with the wrath of Saasu Ma & Sofie Jaan, that is why he suggested creating problems & misunderstandings between Haider & Mishal to bring Mishal back to their home. It was actually quite funny to see him trying to please everyone where he met Haider wholeheartedly & praised him in order to make Mishal happy & now behind her back, he was saying things that he knew would make Saasu Ma & Sofie Jaan happy too. His comment about becoming 4th Abba of Sofie was hilarious, he may sound or look stupid but even he has read this family quite well & he knows that Sara would do anything for money. Wahab did however say the truth that just because Mishal was a ‘sonay ki chiriya’ Sara was infuriated at her daughter as he knows that his Saasu Ma depended heavily on Mishal & her earnings. It is quite interesting to see Wahab being shown as someone who looks stupid on the surface but has quite an insight. :D

I wish Shakira & Saba didn’t get that much of coverage because their scenes ended up looking like fillers & I wish that screen-time was given to Haider’s political career but never mind, at least they did find out that Haider has brought Mishal back to his home & they both are giving this marriage a chance, which was a reality check that Shakira needed to know that Haider & his family are done following their orders. I was actually dreading seeing Khadija turning into a typical mother in law but I am glad that she has the forgiving bone in her body where when she will see how hard Mishal is trying to gel in their lifestyle, she will accept her & forget how she initially entered their lives. Even though Khadija’s tone was harsh but I liked how she reminded Haider of his responsibilities that he had towards Mishal, where she told him to go out & make some money because he now had a wife to take care of too.

I enjoyed watching the scenes of Mishal & Haider the most where they both were trying to find truce & set limits for each other, where Mishal told him that she is not used to sharing a room with anyone & Haider told her that he wants her to make breakfast for him. The thing he said about respecting Mishal was actually quite sweet, it left Mishal speechless & forced her to agree that she can make tea for him. Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed both acted brilliantly in those scenes because the amusement of Haider & irritation of Mishal was portrayed perfectly. I wish Haider’s political career hadn’t come to a halt, I thought Asfand Sultan will be able to differentiate between Haider’s personal & professional life but he is still concerned that just because Haider got married at a live show, people will point fingers at him which will also mean that people will question Asfand Sultan’s choices as a leader of his political party. I hope Haider finds a way back into politics because that is something he is passionate about.

Overall, I had a great time watching this episode & as the episodes are passing by, this drama is turning out to be my favorite & something that I actually look forward to the entire week. Saba Qamar looked beautiful & I loved the chemistry that she & Zahid Ahmed have as Mishal & Haider. The rest of the cast is doing a great job too & it feels that the director has made sure that the actors put a lot of hard work in establishing the relationships between the characters because it shows & completes the entire picture & last but not the least, I thank Malik Raza for portraying the character of Wahab so brilliantly on screen, he is also becoming one of the characters whose scenes I look forward to actually. :) Please share your thoughts about this episode of Besharam.

Besharam – Episode 07!

Ohkay so, seems like they took the things forward slowly in this episode but I don’t mind considering how all the previous episodes were so fast-paced, I was expected that things will slow down a bit at a certain stage, which is perfectly alright because the drama in itself is so interesting that the pace doesn’t matter much for now.

Khadija is quite naive I believe, just because she assumed that sending Mishal away will solve all her problems, she didn’t think for a second before taking that decision. I am not sure if Khadija is simple-minded or she can’t put two & two together. After all the Sikandar’s family has done, why does Khadija believe that she can make things work & she can save Humna’s engagement with Qadeer? Haider has quite a lot of times told Khadija about Sikandar & his intentions but she doesn’t trust her own son & thinks she is bound to follow the orders & instructions of Sikandar. Even after Haider told it clearly to Khadija that sending Mishal away won’t guarantee Humna’s happiness because Sikandar’s main issue was the rejection of Saba by Haider, Khadija still thought she will finally be able to convince Sikandar because it was his demand that Haider should send Mishal away & divorce her. It was good that despite everything that Khadija did, Sikandar & Shakira didn’t budge, at least it will serve as an eye-opener to Khadija that no matter what she’ll do, nothing will be enough to please Sikandar’s family as they were inconsiderate & selfish right from the start. Even though being a mother of a daughter, Khadija wants to do everything to make sure no one raises a finger at Humna, at times I feel she ignores Haider & doesn’t take his decisions seriously just because she thinks he’s a guy & he is responsible for his own baggage, that is why I believe that Khadija didn’t think things through & didn’t allow herself to accept Mishal because she saw her as someone who was costing Humna her engagement. I hope Khadija finds it in her heart to trust Haider & accept his decisions too because so far, she has only been concerned about Humna & then Sikandar’s family & their decisions.

Qadeer found it hard to return his ring to Humna but he didn’t have the guts to take a stand for her. Haider has time & again told Humna that Qadeer is not an ideal person for her because he can not & he will not stand by her through thick & thin but just because she has been engaged to him for quite a while now, Humna thinks she can not get married to anyone else. All the things that Sikandar & his family have done so far should be enough of a reality check for Humna & Khadija that having a relationship with Sikandar’s family will always cause problems for them but looks like they are not willing to understand such a simple thing.

Wahab (Malik Raza) finally made an entry & now we all know why Sofia thinks she can not relate to him & why she told her mother that their mental wavelength doesn’t match. Even though Wahab looked more like a caricature but I enjoyed watching his scenes because he added a comic relief to the dull scenes of Sara & Sofia. Wahab is a businessman who is pretty happy with how his life has turned out to be, he loves his wife & doesn’t mind getting insulted by his wife & mother-in-law because he treats them as their family. I loved the way he teased Mishal by taking her husband’s name as if he was Mishal’s saheli, lol. Well, Mishal returned & she got the exact treatment she was expecting, Sara wasn’t thrilled with what Mishal has done & she didn’t hold back in telling her how wrong her decision of getting married to Haider was. Mishal is actually done dealing with her mother because sadly, her mother hasn’t set a good example for her daughters, that is why Mishal finds it hard to respect her mother’s opinions regarding relationships.

Mishal has found it in her heart to give this marriage a chance, that is why even after she returned to her home, she couldn’t stop thinking about Haider, his family & his home. Throughout her life Mishal has missed real relationships, relationships that are not complicated & she has also missed the presence of someone who will listen to her & take care of her like a responsible person because all her life, Mishal has taken care of everyone around her & that is why she now feels the need to be with someone who will do what she has done for others & may be its because she can see that Haider is exactly the sort of a person who can do that & be in charge of their lives, she doesn’t mind doing what he tells her to do.

Haider is a man of his word & that is why he was shocked to see Mishal going back to her life & resuming her routine job. Just like Mishal, Haider wants to give this marriage a chance too, he wants to give Mishal the respect she deserves & he wants to elevate her status by giving her the rights of being his wife, that is why he didn’t think twice before walking on the ramp & dragging her out of that fashion show which was quite dramatic & the bit that I enjoyed the most. Haider knows that his mother will find it hard to accept Mishal but he doesn’t believe in complications that is why he honestly told Mishal that even though Khadija isn’t happy with their decision, she will find it in her heart to accept it soon enough. Mishal also can see that Haider is struggling just like she is struggling too but she has this faith in him because she sees him as an honest person who will fulfill the promise that he has made to her.

The meeting of Sara & Haider was intense. Sara didn’t hold back for a second & gave Haider a piece of her mind. She thinks Haider got married to Mishal because he saw that she was a successful model & earned really well, whereas these things never really crossed Haider’s mind because it doesn’t matter to him. It was good to see that Mishal took a stand for Haider too & she has this sense of responsibility where she knows that even she has the heart to fulfill the promise of togetherness she has made to Haider by getting married to him. Even though Haider & Mishal haven’t really spoken about their relationship as they didn’t get a fair chance so far, I really liked seeing them as a husband & wife. Finally, Haider brought Mishal to his home & without beating around the bush he told his mother straight away that she will be living with him from now on because she happens to be his wife. Even though Mishal & Haider haven’t had the time to speak about their relationship, I still found some sort of understanding between them where Mishal understood the way Haider’s mind works & Haider knew that Mishal was ready to give this marriage a chance because she was being submissive right from the beginning.

Overall, it was a pretty decent episode of Besharam & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I am sure Haider & Mishal will have to face some challenges but I am interested to find out how they will overcome all such obstacles & how they will form an understanding under such circumstances. It is needless to say but the direction & the acting has been top-notch. The director has given a very nice treatment to the script that is why it seems so visually appeasing & I loved the look that Saba Qamar was carrying during her ramp walk, because it added more charm to the the following scene with Haider in which she looked like a runaway bride, haha. Anyways, I enjoyed watching this episode & I am assuming you guys did too, so please share your thoughts about this episode of Besharam.

Besharam – Episode 04, 05 & 06!

Ohkay so, these three episodes of Besharam were quite dhamakaydaar, intense, interesting & most importantly, done really really well. The writer here deserves all the credit because she not only introduced us to strong main leads but she is actually putting their characters to good use to show how two strong individuals can run the course of their lives in dire situations. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these episodes one after another & the 6th episode went by so quickly that I actually had to check again if I watched the complete episode or not. I am so glad that the drama is so well-paced & you’re left longing for more by the end of every single episode. I was actually quite happy that I had 3 episodes to watch together but now seems like it’s going to be a long wait every single week. :)

Haider saw what Mishal had to go through at her father’s funeral. Haider could see that what Mishal’s brother put her up with was uncalled for. The conversation Haider had about Mishal when he saw his friends discussing her magazine photo-shoot went to show that Haider didn’t believe in judging people but sadly, there came a time when he ended up judging Mishal too. Mishal on her own had no idea that Haider saw her & witnessed everything that happened at Tahir Malik’s house, but just because she saw that a tag of being a politician was attached to Haider, she also ended up judging him.

The 4th episode was all about the talk show that Haider & Mishal attended. Even though I knew that Haider & Mishal were emotional & impulsive decision makers, I actually felt that their meeting & their cross talking seemed a little out of the place & a bit too forced. The writer actually should’ve shown an interaction between Haider & Mishal that lead them to form negative opinions about each other before they met at the talk show because by doing that, the writer could’ve justified all the ill feelings Mishal garnered about Haider. A small conversation that didn’t end well was all that was needed to justify what was yet to come. Mishal was always shown to be as someone who was in check with her sanity & always believed in containing her emotions to herself but the way she acted during that live show told an entire different story. Mishal didn’t seem like herself & she kept on accusing Haider & judging him despite having no knowledge about him as a person. Yes, it was understandable that just because her own father was a politician, Mishal saw every single politician in the same light & assumed that Haider was just like Tahir too but a girl like her who always believed in respecting others didn’t really make much sense by unnecessarily blaming someone she had just met. Haider tried his best to control himself but just when he saw that Mishal was crossing the line, he ended up passing a few comments too which hurt Mishal a great deal. That entire scene could’ve been done well & honestly, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I should have because it seemed a bit too haphazard & sudden, considering how Mishal had no solid reasons to make such personal attacks at Haider. The thing I found quite amusing was how the anchor was being applauded & encouraged by his team for making Mishal & Haider fight as it was earning them the skyrocketed ratings, haha. This is exactly what happens & this is exactly what the main motive behind all these talk shows is.

Mishal’s demand of apology from Haider didn’t really seem justified because if she had considered her own behavior, she would’ve understood that if there was someone who needed to apologize, it was Mishal herself & not Haider. Haider being an impulsive person proposed to Mishal & got married to her then & there. I must say, things started working for me after they both got married because everything that happened before that seemed a bit too dramatic & unrealistic, but nevertheless, it all worked later because Haider & Mishal made it work out. Haider knew that he had landed himself in deep trouble & he was ready to give Mishal a free-hand to choose her path but just because Mishal heard how Haider had no trust in the models, she knew she had to prove him wrong by showing that models can make the relations & the marriages work. Mishal has always lived her life with her head held high because she has not compromised on her values but the thing that pinches her the most is when people paint her with the same brush as they paint the other models with. Mishal is eager to let the people around her know that she is not the typical model that people presume her to be. She is just as down to earth & as rooted as any other random girl, that is why when she heard that Haider had some preconceived notions about her, she decided to prove him wrong by deciding to go with him to his house as his bride. The confessions she made about how she will never leave him alone & how she will never walk away were quite emotional, it showed how eager she was to get the validation from a guy she had just met.

I enjoyed watching Haider & Mishal as a newly married couple a lot as all the thoughts that were running through their minds were making an appearance on their faces, where they knew they made a huge mistake but also had it in their hearts that may be this could work out. Haider knew that he’ll have a lot of convincing to do because his mother might never accept Mishal & Mishal knew that her mother will disown her as she was also an emotional wreck after Tahir’s death. They both were finding it hard to believe what they had just done but were also trying to find the courage to stand by their decision.

As expected, Sikandar & his entire family did the honors of informing Khadija about Haider’s marriage & after Haider’s rejection of Saba, they were looking for a reason to call the engagement of Humna & Qadeer off too, but now they thought they got an upper-hand as they believed that Haider committed a mistake which will now force him to do everything told by them to make things right, but sadly, Haider’s reaction was not what they expected to be as he never really allowed them to dominate his mind & his thoughts. Sikandar & Shakira suggested that Haider should divorce Mishal because only then they will allow Qadeer to get married to Humna, which was actually quite sad. Qadeer did try to take a stand but he needs to understand that taking a stand also requires having an audible pitch too, Qadeer murmured & thought that his parents will lift the conditions that they set but he was mistaken. Khadija also demanded that Haider should sent Mishal away & divorce her because that way, she will be able to save Humna’s relation with Qadeer but it was wise of Haider to make her understand that she was mistaken because there was nothing that Haider’d do that will guarantee Humna’s happiness as he could see through Sikandar’s intentions.

Mishal took this entire marriage scene as an adventure & surprisingly, she seemed content & happy with what had transpired. She was new to all this but she didn’t mind getting herself comfortable with Haider’s lifestyle. She knew that everything that happened won’t allow her an easy entry into anyone’s life but she didn’t hold herself back from trying at least. Mishal could see that Haider was a man of his word & she found that quality of his to be quite charming. Mishal knew that she had to go back because she could see all the problems that Haider’s family was facing because of her, but she was hesitant because she dreaded returning to her old lifestyle, full of responsibilities & full of problems. Haider also believed that sending Mishal away will make things right but even he didn’t want her to go & luckily, what sealed the deal were the questions that the reporters asked which reminded Haider once again that Mishal wasn’t an acquaintance or she wasn’t just a friend, Mishal was his wife now & he had to do everything to protect her. Sadly, Haider’s marriage with Mishal put a dent on his political career & Asfand Sultan didn’t seem too appreciative of what Haider did, but I am sure Haider will make things work, but more than that I am interested to find out how Mishal & Haider will join hands to make their marriage work.

These three episodes were very very interesting because they were directed & edited really really well. I loved the acting of all the characters & have always felt that the way each & everyone acts makes it look like they are actually a family that comes together in good times or bad. However, I will add that I wasn’t a fan of Saba Qamar’s acting & styling in the talk show scene because she seemed quite scattered brained & her overall look was quite tacky but after that scene was over, she was back in her game & acted really really well & looked beautiful too. Zahid Ahmed definitely took the crown because he acted well in the scenes which involved a lot of cross talking. Also, I must say the girl playing the character of Saba has done such a wonderful job, she is always complementing the scenes with her unique expressions, I found it really cute that even though she was heart broken at the news of Haider’s marriage, she looked at Mishal with such appreciation & respect, haha! I must say the chemistry between Zahid Ahmed & Saba Qamar is a treat to watch & they both look amazing together. I thoroughly enjoyed watching these episodes of Besharam & this has become one of those dramas that I look forward to. It’s going to be a long long long wait until the next episode but never-mind, let’s discuss these episodes first. :)

Besharam – Episode 03!

Oh wow, it was such an interesting episode of Besharam & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I must say that the pace of this drama is a bit too fast which I most certainly don’t have a problem with but the thing that concerns me tad bit is that the dramas that begin with such a fast pace become quite slow when they approach the end, so I really hope that this doesn’t turn out to be the case with Besharam & they end up giving us all the episodes that are power-packed & interesting.

A lot of things happened in everyone’s lives. Where Mishal was totally convinced that Daniyal was her Mr. Right, she found out the truth about him that too at the right time. Like a dear reader last week predicted that Daniyal could be Jamal’s son & that’s exactly what the truth turned out to be. Jamal was a perfect depiction of the double standards of our society because Jamal on his own could get married to anyone despite having a wife & grown up children but when it comes to his kids, he got his son married to his niece & then he didn’t approve of the fact that Daniyal should get married to a model. Just as quickly as Mishal fell for Daniyal, she snapped out of her love for him with the same speed too but the thing that hurt her the most was the comment that Jamal passed about Mishal being shameless. Anyways, I am glad that Daniyal’s role in the drama is over & we won’t be seeing him again. It was actually quite amusing to see that just when Jamal exposed the truth about Daniyal being married, he was still bent on getting married to Mishal thinking that she won’t have an issue with his marital status at all.

I must say, I enjoyed the bits of Sikandar & Haider’s family the most. It was quite amusing to see Haider turning into a ‘heera’ from a ‘ghunda’ for Sikandar just because he found out that Haider not only joined Asfand Sultan’s political party, but he also became an important part of it too. The way Sikandar & Shakira changed their perspective about Haider was quite interesting to see because it shows what a power & authority & a tad bit of wealth can do to people like them. Just a few days ago Sikandar was against Haider but not anymore & not only that, now Sikandar was ready to get Saba married to Haider as well as he could deduce that his daughter will have a secure future with Haider.

Sofia (Fia) showed up & she happens to be Sara’s daughter from one of her marriages. Sofia seemed a bit spoiled in the beginning but as she got more coverage it showed that she was kindhearted too & held her family members closer, whereas when it comes to Mishal, she is super sweet with all the people around her except her family members & I believe she has a reason to feel that way because she has grown up with a mother who was an emotional wreck, who failed at marriages quite a few times & is still not settled mentally & emotionally, so I don’t blame Mishal if she has lost a bit of respect for her mother.

The thing that they subtly touched upon & I liked the most was the way Haider didn’t judge Mishal for the bold photo-shoot she did after breaking up with Daniyal. It goes to show that he doesn’t believe in focusing on things that do not matter to him & more than that, he doesn’t believe in judging people by seeing one side of the story. Also, I was happy to see the progress that Haider made & also, it was good to see Asfand depending on Haider a lot because he has seen how eager Haider is bring a change in his surroundings. Somehow, I really like how they have tried to show a positive side of the politics & it is good that Haider is getting a free-hand by Asfand to do what he wants to & openly practice his policies as Asfand & Haider both share the same mentality & they actually want to bring a change in the society through positivity.

Finally, the hero & heroine crossed paths & going by what Haider witnessed at Tahir Malik’s rites suggested that it must’ve sparked an interest or a tad bit of attention towards Mishal. Quite subtly & unfortunately they shed a light upon the harsh realities of politicians & the mindset they have regarding the models or those girls who choose to put themselves out there in the world to be scrutinized by such people. Tahir Malik couldn’t tolerate what he heard from his colleagues & ended up killing himself because it definitely was the guilt that haunted him as he knew that he failed as a father & just because he wasn’t around Mishal, he lost his daughter due to his own mistakes. I felt for Mishal a lot when she sat in her room & cried at her father’s death, even though she wasn’t on good terms with him but still she knew that she lost her father & she can never undo the note at which they both parted. It was sad that Mishal was pushed out of her father’s home, let’s see how the story will unfold.

I must say I love the way the emotions of all the characters are covered & conveyed by the writer & the director, everything they say & each & every expression of them shows what they are going through & you immediately understand their pain & anguish. I like Haider’s character for his bluntness & honesty, he doesn’t fail to say what is on his mind & that’s quite charming. Mishal is emotionally struggling a lot & that has been conveyed by Saba Qamar flawlessly, however, I found her acting a bit weak in the scene where she had to yell at Daniyal & Jamal, but she redeemed herself in the last scene where she retaliates at her father’s rites. All the supporting actors have done a great job but once again I will say that Mehmood Akhtar takes the cake for being so amazing. I actually had a great great time watching his scenes & those uncomfortable fake smiles that he passed at the things that he didn’t intend to do, lol. I love the editing of the show so far, all the scenes are short & to the point because of which not even a single scene becomes boring & keeps you looking forward to what’s yet to come. I am thoroughly enjoying watching this drama & I hope it stays that way. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Besharam.

Besharam – Episode 02!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam was great & I enjoyed watching it because it gave us an insight into all the characters & their past. The editing was spot on & it kept my interest alive in the episode right from the beginning till the end. I must say the director & the editors have teamed up nicely & have given Besharam a treatment which makes it a good experience for those who’re watching.

Mishal’s mother Sara has quite a colorful past & she is not ashamed of it. Seems like it is because of a mother like Sara that Mishal has set certain rules & boundaries for herself because this is exactly what her mother’s failed marriages & lack of emotional strength has taught her. Mishal is quite young but she is far more sorted in her mind & has a clear picture of what she should & what she shouldn’t do. Sara & Tahir are still quite bitter with each other because seems like they both went through an ugly divorce & they haven’t overcome the negative feelings they both garnered in their hearts. It was sad that Mishal had to go through such tough circumstances at such a young age because her parents especially her mother was immature & Mishal was never her father’s priority. It was amusing to see that Tahir thought that just having a tag of being Mishal’s biological father was enough for him to take charge of her future & that is why he thought she will happily follow his orders & get married to his nephew Kashif like an obedient daughter. The question that Mishal asked Tahir left him speechless & rightly so because when he didn’t have enough courtesy in him to take care of Mishal when she needed him the most, how can he expect that Mishal will accept his decision regarding the most important thing in her life that too at such a stage of her life where she has become independent & is doing exceptionally well for herself.

Haider’s personality & attitude caught the attention of Asfand Sultan, who happens to be a resourceful bureaucrat. For now Asfand does seem like a person who has a lot of respect for the law & order & he doesn’t believe in exploiting it just because he is at a position where he can mend the rules & play with the law, not sure if that will change but right now this is exactly the perspective that Haider endorses too. I am not sure what the future holds for Haider when he will join Asfand’s political party but if their mindsets & policies will match, they will become a formidable duo.

I liked how they showed us the relationship that Humna & Qadeer share & what sort of a personality Qadeer has. I am sure the detest Sikandar has for Haider will never allow Humna & Qadeer to have a normal relationship with each other. The way Qadeer becomes speechless in front of his parents goes to show that he is the sort of a person who will never be able to take a stand for Humna & won’t be able to support her emotionally & sadly, if things will become rocky after their marriage, it will be Haider who will sign up to show some support to his sister Humna. In Qadeer’s comparison, Humna is quite an opinionated person & doesn’t mind holding back her point of view especially when it comes to her brother Haider. Humna has been shown defending Haider time & again in front of Sikandar & Qadeer too but I am sure, the way Sikandar looks down upon Haider & his family, things won’t be easier for Humna when she will get married to Qadeer. However, the moment Sikandar & Qadeer found out about Haider being in contact with Asfand did fluster them a little bit, because they never imagined that Haider, who they think of as a lowlife goon, can be acquainted with such a powerful man like Asfand, so not sure if that will make them change their attitude towards Haider & his family because as far as I can deduce, Sikandar is quite an opportunist, so he might not do anything to upset Haider as that will multiply his chances of getting in contact with Asfand Sultan too.

Ohkay, honestly speaking, I didn’t find the blooming relationship between Mishal & Daniyal a tad bit convincing. He shows up out of nowhere, confesses his feelings, shows up the second time & BAM! They both start dating. Mishal has been in such a field where getting this level of attention from males is a normal thing & I am sure that being a top model, Daniyal is not the first person who has told her that he can’t live without her. I wish they had taken at least a couple of episodes to show how Daniyal convinced Mishal that the love he had for her was true & how after getting convinced properly, Mishal started taking Daniyal seriously. The things Daniyal said about Mishal also suggested that she has a clean slate & has always been quite cautious about her image because she might be a model but she is far more conservative & rooted for that matter so to see her falling for Daniyal without a further a due wasn’t convincing at all. Also, the way Mishal told Sara that she wouldn’t do the things she has done in her life goes to show that Mishal has been quite careful all her life, so to see her falling for Daniyal immediately doesn’t make much sense to be honest. Yes, she is tired & yes she yearns for a companionship, she also longs for an emotional support as she has kept herself strong for so many years but I don’t think a girl like Mishal who works in such a field where she gets to interact with all sorts of people can be so naive to not be able to see through the true intentions of Daniyal.

The note at which the episode ended was quite filmy. I think before putting her foot on the accelerator, she should’ve questioned herself as to what was it about Daniyal that was forcing her to go to such lengths to prove her love for him. Also, she should’ve done some analysis as to why would a guy who says he loves her would put her & her love through such a test? With that being said, I must say I enjoyed watching the performances of all the actors throughout the episode. There’s a great chemistry between all the actors & that is why they make their relationships & their circumstances look believable & realistic. Atiqa Odho has added this amusing yet innocent charm to the character of Sara & I believe no one could’ve done a better job in a portrayal of a woman in her late 40’s who’s still hopeful about finding the ultimate love of her life. Saba Qamar as Mishal & Zahid Ahmed as Haider are phenomenal & I believe no one could’ve done a better job than these two. I must thank the director for bringing out the best in all the actors & helping them pick up the right attitude required for the portrayal of all the characters that have been assigned to them. I really like how this drama isn’t too unrealistic & not completely realistic too, it just perfectly falls in between & makes it a ‘drama’ that one likes to watch. Besharam – Episode 01!

Ohkay so, the production of Six Sigma Productions, direction of Farooq Rind & the writing of Sarwat Nazeer; ‘Besharam’ hit our TV screens tonight & honestly speaking, I enjoyed watching the first episode a lot because it kept my attention intact throughout the episode & even though there were a lot of characters that were introduced int he introductory episode, their plots were established properly.

We have a family of Haider (Zahid Ahmed) who lives with his mother Khadija (Shahista Jabeen) & sister Humna (Sundas Tariq). Haider is a social activist who believes that stepping into politics will bring a change that the nation wants to see & being a leader of his self-formed political party, he takes his passion quite seriously. Haider believes in going out of the way to help the people around him so that they can form a bond of trust with him which will help his political party & career a lot. Haider knows that the path that he is walking on is never going to be easy & he will have to face repercussions time & again but he is not afraid of any of that as he knows that anything worth having doesn’t come easily.

Collage 03

On the other side, we have Haider’s uncle Sikandar (Mehmood Akhtar) whose family includes his wife Shakira, son Qadeer & daughter Saba. Qadeer is engaged to Haider’s sister Humna & Sikandar wants Saba to get married to Haider too. Sikandar runs a shop that was under the ownership of him & Haider’s late father too but he doesn’t believe in giving Haider’s family a fair share of their property because he thinks he has been taking care of their expenses all his life, therefore he is not bound to give them what is theirs.

Collage 02

Then we got introduced to the family of Tahir Malik (Rehan Sheikh) a politician, who married twice & has a daughter Mishal Malik (Saba Qamar) from his Second Wife (Atiqa Odho). It looks like Tahir’s second marriage lasted for only 6 years & he went back to his first wife, leaving his 5 y/o daughter & second wife on their own. Mishal is now a top model & she takes care of herself & her mother. Mishal’s mother still gets depressed about the sort of life she lead because of her husband & Mishal has to face the brunt when her mother gets these depression pangs. Mishal lives a glamorous life on the surface but deep down she is a simple girl who believes in compassion & making people around her happy. She doesn’t mind apologizing to her helpers for her mother’s behavior & also doesn’t hold back in helping those who may share their problems with her. Mishaal’s mother is going out with Jamal (Faisal Rehman) & I am interested to see how their track will be developed.

Collage 01

In the initial part of the episode I got a bit too overwhlemed by the amount of characters that were being introduced but by the end of the episode, everything fell in its place & things got clear easily. I liked how they didn’t only introduce the characters but they showed us bits & bobs of their personalities too. Mishal is independent & strong, may be that’s why her mother depends emotionally on her a bit more than she should. Haider is a misunderstood person who doesn’t bother much about what people think of him, because he knows that as far as he will be honest, nothing can happen to him. Haider is honest to the point of being blunt, that is why he has a rocky relationship with his Uncle Sikandar, as he doesn’t allow him to make decisions for Haider anymore. Haider is focused & he knows what he wants to achieve & on the other hand, Mishal is leading a happening life but she is definitely missing something & there’s a void that she feels which was made evident during the scenes in which she is all by herself.

I must say the direction of this episode was superb. I liked how all the scenes were short & to the point, the editors did a great job too because such an editing made this episode quite interesting & kept the pace perfect as well. The camera work was brilliant & I liked how the director used a lot of different angles to capture the scenes. I must say I enjoyed the conversations a lot too as they were written intelligently & I found myself giggling at times too. All the actors did a wonderful job but I must say I enjoyed the scenes of Atiqa Odho, Faisal Rehman & Mehmood Akhtar the most, may be it’s the experience that gave them a upper-hand & they performed convincingly in the fewer scenes that were given to them. I also liked the character of Atiqa Odho as well, she is more like a child that Mishal is baby-sitting since forever & it looks like she knows that her daughter is kind-hearted, therefore she makes the most of it by emotionally blackmailing her at times too. Looks like Haider’s fearlessness impressed another Politician (Baber Jatoi) & he will come up with a proposal for Haider to join his party. I must say I like how both the main characters are shown to be doing well for themselves & if I put it in simpler words, I like how it is shown that both of them have a ‘life’ of their own. Also, before concluding the review I must add that Saba Qamar & Zahid Ahmed both have perfectly adapted the attitude required for the characters that they are playing. Saba Qamar looks glamorous & beautiful whereas Zahid Ahmed looked strong & manly. Let’s see what do they have in store for us. For me, the first episode worked completely & I strongly recommend it to those who’re reading this review to find out if they should give this drama a go or not & for those who’ve watched it already, please share your thoughts about the very first episode of Besharam. :)

Rashid Nazir Ali

Beqasoor – Episodes 1 – 5

Writer: Sameena Ijaaz

Directed By: Syed Atif Hussain

Produced By: Big Bang Entertainment

Channel & Timings: ARY Digital – Wednesday 8pm

Beqasoor is primarily the story of Waseem’s household. Waseem’s second wife Sadaf (Samina Peerzada) plays an important role in the story but not one that is free of clichés. Waseem married Sadaf after her husband Shehryar (Sajjid Hassan) divorced her unexpectedly because she gave birth to a girl. Sadaf does her best to run Waseem’s house the way he wants and raises his daughter Sehr (Aiman Khan) in the best way possible. Waseem gives Sadaf the status of a wife and looks after her and her daughter but he never gives them the respect they deserve. He is a completely different person with his own daughter and even his sister (Javeria Abbasi). Sadaf and her daughter Hira (Saboor Ali) however are thankful and love Waseem genuinely too. In a strange twist of fate Sadaf’s past comes to haunt her when her step-daughter Sehr marries her ex-husband. Sehr doesn’t know who he is and marries him only for his money!

Waseem’s character is a lot like many other characters which Waseem Abbas has played before too. Waseem’s double standards remind you of the role he played in the drama Zindagi Gulzar Hai. His overall attitude towards his second wife and step daughter reminds you of the character he played in drama serial Main Bushra. There is absolutely nothing new about his character or acting which is sad because he is a very talented actor who can play any role given to him with perfection. Somehow directors have confided him to these roles in which he is shown as a failure as a husband and a father. He played a similar role in Mera Naam Yousuf Hai too.

beqasoor1

Sadaf’s character is that of a wise woman who is a victim of unfortunate circumstances. This character too is a lot like the character Samina Peerzada played in the drama serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Sadaf isn’t just another one of those bechari women we see on screen but just like Rafia of Zindagi Gulzar Hai she is highly sensible and quite capable of being brave but she does not allow her strength to show. She wants to hold on to this man and this marriage and is very scared of losing him. She feels guilty for not raising Sehr well although it is not her fault that Sehr turned out to be the way she is. I cannot complain about Samina Peerzada’s acting because that would be unfair but I must say that after watching her play the role of a very strong woman in Rehaii, it seems like she is being wasted playing these roles which any other actress could have played. There is however no denying the fact that the grace with which Samina Peerzada translates all her characters on screen is unparallel.

Hira is a nice girl – sometimes she appears to be too good to be true. She is the perfect child in every way and is a complete opposite of her step-sister. Saboor Ali wears too much make-up in all these episodes which does not go well with some situations or even with her character. Her acting is quite average and somehow she comes across as a ‘meesni’ instead of someone nice who you would like!! The character of course is meant to show the contrast between the two sisters and Hira is definitely the ideal daughter but there is nothing about her character or acting that makes her stand out in the crowd.

beqasoor2

Muneeb Butt plays the role of Babar who likes Hira and wants to marry her. He is a very nice person just like Hira but just like her there is nothing about his character or acting that truly impresses you.

Sehr is materialistic and selfish but it is truly refreshing watching Aiman Khan play this role. I must say that every episode of this play has belonged to Sehr and Aiman Khan right from the get-go. Even though Aiman’s character has no positive traits but the actress still manages to have a screen presence which makes you want to watch this drama for her alone. Also, you do see Sehr as a young girl who really does not know any better especially because she cannot see beyond materialistic things. Her marriage with Sheheryar was purely based on her love for money. Right now Sheheryar’s house and car and pampering are making everything work but gradually Sehr will realize what has done was very wrong.

beqasoor3

Sheheryar’s character has been played brilliantly by Sajjid Hassan. He is just as selfish as Sehr but the difference between them is that Sheheryar is old enough to know better! He divorced his wife in the middle of the road because she gave birth to a girl and had no problem getting married to a girl who was old enough to be his daughter. Even now he flirts with other girls and he does not feel like he is ‘committed’ to Sehr in any way.

Javeria Abbasi’s character is clichéd to the core – she is a drama queen and someone who is very reckless with her life but I must say that I find her character and acting both very amusing. We have always seen Javeria Abbasi play more refined roles therefore it is good to see her in a different avatar even if the character isn’t unique in any way!

Beqasoor is crowded with characters that are black and white. People who are nice can do no wrong and others seem to be completely self-absorbed and incapable of loving someone. Although the story of the play revolves primarily around Sadaf’s character but it is Sehr’s track and the way Aiman Khan has portrayed her character on screen which keeps your interest alive in the drama. Saboor Ali’s acting and character both are unimpressive to say the least. The negative characters in the play keep your interest alive and the other characters remain predictable and boring throughout these 5 episodes. The director has kept the scenes short and to the point. I especially liked the use of sunlight in many scenes. This drama of course comes with a big warning because it has been produced by Big Bang Entertainment!

How many of you have been watching Beqasoor? Do share your thoughts about the drama.

Fatima Awan

Beqasoor – Episode 9

This was another episode of Beqasoor with a lot of rona dhona, sad background music and one which promised very little character development for our scapegoat Hira in particular. While it was great to see Sadaf taking a stand for her daughter, it was just plain annoying watching Hira play the victim when she had the choice and the perfect opportunity to live a happy life! Hira’s obsession with making her father happy is like a mental block which she needs to get over if she wants to be happy.

In one of the previous episodes we saw Hira telling her mother that she will not tolerate it if her step-father made her mother suffer but in this episode she completely lost track of who she wanted to please! Her insane decision to get married to Amin was meant to make her father happy at the cost of her mother’s happiness. Hira obviously has complexes, she wants a father figure in her life at all costs even if it is someone like Waseem but making this kind of a ‘sacrifice’ when she knows that it will only bring more pain to her mother is not in line with her character. Maybe if she stops crying and sobbing, makes herself a cup of tea and sits down to reflect upon things, she can reach a better conclusion! Waseem knew only too well that the ‘divorce card’ was bound to work in his favor therefore he used it over and over again.

beqasoor1

Sehr on the other hand takes her phupo’s advice and is happy with her luxurious life even if that means putting up with a husband like Shehryar. Sehr like her phupo does not think much about the past or the future and likes to live in the present. She wants to be happy and does not really care about anyone’s happiness. The phupo is as negative as a character can possibly get. Even though Hira’s future husband is clearly a nightmare come true but even then she makes sure he knows what Hira’s ties with Babar were like to make matters worse. We also found out today that even though Hira and Babar spent a lot of time together in the office but Babar knows nothing about Hira’a family dynamics.

I must say that the director has definitely banked on Hira’s becharapan a lot. The flashback scenes have been used extensively and the sad background score just makes it look like the director is trying too hard to make people feel for Hira’s character. Hira’s obsession with pleasing her step-father does make sense but the way it has been translated on screen has killed any sympathy that it could have generated from the viewers. Afia Begum and Zulekha’s circumstances in the play Mera Naam Yousuf Hai were somewhat similar too but everything was shown in such a way that you couldn’t help but feel for the characters. At this point there is absolutely no hope for Hira and I can’t even imagine how her life would be with that man. Honestly speaking the very thought of it makes me sick! Saboor Ali’s acting remained quite unimpressive in this episode as well. Samina Peerzada was absolutely brilliant tonight and I must say, so was Waseem Abbas.

Beqasoor is getting even more depressing with every passing episode. The only good thing about tonight’s episode was the way Sadaf put her foot down otherwise all the characters remain black and white.

Beqasoor – Episode 8

My wishful thinking clouded my judgment while watching tonight’s episode and for a little while I was convinced that Waseem might have realized how much Hira and Sadaf had done for him and now he wanted to do something for them in return – something that will make them happy! I thought, finally some character development but I was so wrong! After doing all that thinking and listening to his sister brain wash him Waseem has thought of a punishment for Hira and Sadaf both that will give him the satisfaction he needs. The smile on his face in this episode and especially in the end clearly showed that he had something evil in mind and honestly speaking I cannot even imagine what it could be! I am expecting the worst since whatever he has done to his wife and step-daughter is bad enough, I wonder what could be so evil that even after finding out about the picture he did not react but was happy that he had already thought of something bad enough to make Sadaf and Hira suffer.

Shehryar’s response to Sehr’s reaction to the news that her husband was her step-mother’s ex-husband did not come as a surprise at all. That is exactly what was expected from him. He does not take his relationship with Sehr seriously that is why he had no problem asking her to make up her mind and leave if she wanted to. Sehr decided to stay ultimately not because she loves her husband but because she does not want to see her step-mother winning in this situation. She is too naive and has no idea who is the real loser here! Shehryar turned to other women the second he knew that Sehr could not give him the kind of company he wanted – that is how loyal he is to her. Sehr for now is quite happy with her outings and is in denial about the kind of person her husband is.

bq

Hira has herself convinced that she does not deserve to be happy. Making her father happy has been her utmost priority right from day one although her father does not show an ounce of respect for her. I could not even remotely relate to why Sadaf and Hira were so thankful to Waseem after Shehryar told him the truth because he held Sadaf responsible for something she had absolutely no control over and barely talked to her. Hira and Sadaf were perhaps thankful to him for letting them stay in the house and for not divorcing Sadaf. I understand why Sadaf would set such low standards for herself since she was married to someone like Shehryar before she got married to Waseem but I don’t understand why an educated and sensible girl like Hira wouldn’t know any better. I am glad that Sadaf at least questioned Waseem about who he was planning to marry Hira with.

We have three beqasoors in this drama so far; Sadaf, Hira and Babar. After watching the developments in this episode I am more convinced than ever that these beqasoors are destined to lead a miserable life. The other lot in this drama, the not so beqasoor ones (Waseem, Shehryar, Sehr and Waseem’s sister) are going to decide the fate of the ones who think that they do not deserve to be happy! The viewers were fooled into thinking that Sehr and Waseem characters might change for the better but in the last few scenes it was revealed that they did not show any signs of changing. Sehr decided she could not live without Shehryar and Waseem was even more sure than ever that Sadaf and Hira deserved to be punished.

Did you watch tonight’s episode? Any predictions about who is going to be Hira’s future husband?

Beqasoor – Episode 7

This episode was full of confessions and confrontations. It showed how women are made to feel responsible for things that are beyond their control and how men manage to get away with so much only because they know that these women whether it is a young wife like Sehr or an old one like Sadaf do not have a choice but to put up with whatever is part of the “baggage” called marriage!!

Sadaf’s worst fears came true in tonight’s episode solely because of her wrong decision to tell Hira the truth. Hira kept on going back to her father looking for a closure but every time she went there she was rejected in the worst manner possible. The fact that Sadaf had to prove to her daughter that she had done nothing wrong in the past was actually very sad to see. While I understand that there are many women like Sadaf in our society I must say that I can’t help but wonder who really is responsible for the kind of circumstances they live under. We saw Sadaf holding herself responsible for something she had no control over because she knew how unreasonable her husband was but she does not have the courage or the choice to question him in any way! Hira keeps on loving her step-father unconditionally even though he does not really deserve all that love, concern and respect.

Shehryar told Sehr the truth because he could not care less what she does as a reaction or how it will effect her. Shehryar is the most villainous villain we have seen in dramas lately and Sajjid Hassan is always brilliant in every role he plays. Aiman Khan has a very powerful screen-presence therefore even though her character is negative but she always manages to overshadow Saboor Ali in all the scenes. And you can’t help but see her character as that of a naive girl who does not know any better. She is greedy and selfish without a shadow of doubt but she is still young and these tough lessons that life is teaching her are bound to change her perspective.

b1

I must say that every time I see Javeria Abbasi’s character on screen, the first thing that runs through my head is that people like her must have a very long life!! The woman does not believe in worrying about anything in life. She enjoys watching people fight and everything bad is actually exciting for her!! She does not think a lot about the future as long the present is good. Even when she was divorced, she did not give it a second thought!! I am really enjoying watching Javeria Abbasi in this role. She is playing one of those insensitive negative characters which are actually amusing maybe because you don’t take them very seriously.

Saboor Ali was the weakest link in this episode too because she has been overdoing everything. Her dialogue delivery is a little too intense!!! The director too believes in stretching the scenes which show women being tormented in some way or the other. Just like all the previous episodes in this one too Sehr and Shehryar’s track kept my interest alive in the play. I cannot praise Aiman Khan enough for her brilliant performance. I feel for Sadaf but her helplessness is not pleasant to watch at all. All the negative characters are much more “entertaining” than the ones who have been portrayed as flawless individuals. You want all those characters who are playing with other people’s life to pay for their mistakes at some point but this drama would have been a complete snooze-fest without them.

Beqasoor – Episode 6

The most important development in tonight’s episode was Hira finding out the truth about who Shehryar was. Sadaf’s insecurities got the best of her and she decided to go to Shehryar’s office to request him to leave Sehr. Sadaf’s helplessness has been portrayed brilliantly by Samina Peerzada but like I said before I hate to see this strong woman play such a weak role. The way Sadaf pleaded in front of Shehryar and the manner in which he told her off was very unpleasant. Shehryar has not changed at all in all these years. He is arrogant and is very sure that he is indestructible. He is incapable of loving anyone and is selfish to the core. The way he treated his daughter went to show how low he could stoop. While Shehryar is one of the worst villains we have seen on screen in recent times, I must say that Sajjid Hassan has done complete justice to his character. You can’t help but hate Shehryar and want to see him paying for every life he has ruined.

Sehr still thinks that she has the perfect life and her phupo is there to reinforce that thinking! She is completely unaware of what Shehryar is capable of doing if he no longer wants to be with her. Shehryar’s dialogues clearly show that he would not think twice before leaving Sehr too if that is what suits him best. This marriage is nothing more than a joke for him and Sehr for now is also really happy with the change in her lifestyle and all the things she has in her life.

Hira is supposed to be the good girl in the play who should technically speaking come across as someone very likeable but I must say that I am having a very difficult time liking her character mainly because it has no spark and also because of the way Saboor Ali has translated it on screen. Saboor Ali needs to be a little more subtle with her dialogue delivery and most importantly with her expressions.

bq

Waseem does not want anyone to stay in touch with Sehr but his sister is most certainly not complying. Although Javeria Abbasi’s role is typical and quite capable of being annoying, I have to admit that I am enjoying watching her play this character.

Overall, this episode of Beqasoor just like all the other ones was quite average. This drama is definitely based on the story of a bechari aurat but the bad guys keep your interest alive in the show. You do want Shehryar to pay for what he has done and you want to know how Sehr’s life with him will unfold. It is sad to see a woman who is so helpless and definitely not something you enjoy watching. Also, this drama relies heavily on showing Sadaf as the victim. The writer obviously wants people to feel for this woman and he wanted viewers to watch this drama for her. I absolutely love Samina Peerzada, she is a legend but I feel like she should be playing roles that are role models for young and old women and not characters which we see on screen all the time. Saboor Ali is the weakest link in this drama. Although her character is that of a strong girl but it does not inspire you in any way.

Beqasoor – Episode 18

All the tracks in the story have been stretched so much that at this point I am finding it really hard to feel anything for any of the characters. When the story goes around in circles for weeks and most of the episodes are filled with scenes which are usually pointless and are used only to kill time then it becomes impossible for the viewers to keep their interest intact in a drama. Beqasoor was never the kind of drama that keeps your interest alive but it has only gone downhill with every passing episode. There was a time when actors like Samina Peerzada and Sajjid Hassan were only seen in dramas which offered quality entertainment but now we see these actors, who deserve to be cherished, working in projects which do not even have a solid storyline. I will give the director due credit for covering all the tracks in every episode and not making certain characters disappear, something which we have seen happening in many of the hyped dramas recently. At the same time I would request ARY Digital to stop stretching dramas so much that viewers end up losing interest in them altogether.

bq

Tonight’s episode had two important developments; Sehr’s pregnancy (which makes me wonder does Shehryar deserve another child?) and Shehryar’s nikaah with Nuzhat which was long overdue and was shown right at the end of the episode as a desperate measure to ensure that viewers who are watching the show have a reason to tune into it next week. I guess the writer is trying to show that Sehr is being punished for all her wrongdoings by going through exactly what Sadaf went through. Personally, I was more interested in watching Shehryar and Nuzhat get punished than Sehr. Although Sehr has been extremely selfish and careless but even then somehow I am willing to forgive her because she was young and did not know better. Shehryar and Nuzhat on the other hand have hurt many people knowing exactly what they were doing and they should be punished. The scenes between Sehr and Sunny made very little sense. Why was Sehr meeting this boy if she wanted to focus on her marriage? This episode was full of scenes like the one in which Waseem brought the cake and the conversation between Sehr and Nuzhat which were too long and mostly pointless.

This time Waseem has changed for real but he did not meet Babur in this episode. This is another track that is being stretched without a reason. I still fail to understand why Hira is supposed to be a ‘heera’! I can’t relate to these situations at all in which we see rich polished boys falling for seedhi sadhi girls who won’t even be able to socialize with the kind of people these boys meet on daily basis.

Overall, this was another disappointing episode of Beqasoor which makes you wish that the drama will end soon! The acting and production values of the drama are flawless but the story is all over the place. There have been times when it seemed like the story will be wrapped up but every time a new track or twist is introduced to stretch the story.

Beqasoor – Episode 17

After watching this episode all I can say is that it is time to end this drama!! Every time it seems like the story is headed towards a conclusion a new twist, which is nothing more than a way to stretch the drama, is added to the story. Shehryar’s intentions were quite clear even before therefore everything that happened today was quite predictable. What can I say, in a country where girls who belong to middle class families cannot find one decent suitor these girls in our dramas have a line of suitors who will do anything to marry them! Hira appeared out of nowhere and Shehryar’s friend knows that but he doesn’t have a problem with it. Zeeshan and Hira are poles apart but even then Zeeshan thinks Hira will make the perfect wife and do they even know that Hira isn’t even divorced yet? Babur is another eligible bachelor who even now thinks that he can trust Hira’s father.

bq

The only good thing about this episode was that Amin did not succeed in taking Hira with him. Other than that I have no expectations from this drama now since the writer is bent on stretching the story and any hopes of character development have dashed to the ground since the changes in characters seem more like mood swings than developments! Hira has forgotten that her ‘ideal abu’ once tried to marry him off to someone who was old enough to be his father. Just like all the previous episodes Hira’s feelings for her step father were not the least bit relatable. She holds Shehryar accountable for everything but somehow she is willing to forgive Waseem for everything. Waseem’s love for Hira did not move me at all since he has changed so many times in the past too but he always goes back to being his old self.

Even after everything that happened in the past Babur thought it would be okay to pay a visit to Waseem’s house. Babur’s mother’s reluctance was definitely more convincing than his eagerness to support Sadaf since she is living in Waseem’s house and they just cannot go there unannounced.

bq1

Hira, Sadaf and ‘Abu’ are one big happy family now but somehow at this point I am finding it very hard to feel anything for any of the characters since the story is being stretched for no reason. All the actors have done complete justice to their respective characters except for Saboor Ali who tends to go overboard most of the time. The production values of the drama like many of the other dramas on air nowadays is top notch too but unfortunately the repetition and unwanted excessive emotionalism tends to be really annoying. The director has always focused on excessive rona dhona right from the start and it is getting very irritating with every passing episode. Samina Peerzada looked beautiful and graceful in white. She has an undeniable screen presence and I hope to see her in more powerful roles in the future.

Beqasoor – Episode 16

Unlike the last two episodes this episode was not very happening and there were plenty of filler scenes in tonight’s episode. The opening scene of tonight’s episode was the first filler scene which did not add anything new to the story. Even after witnessing what was going on between Shehryar and Nuzhat, Hira very conveniently fell for the lie her Phupo told her and could not do much except for showing her displeasure. This scene did not lead to any new developments and it took a lot of screen time, more than 11 minutes to be precise! We saw Hira warming up to Shehryar’s friend’s son and it is quite obvious now that the primary reason Shehryar wants Hira to get a divorce is that so she can marry his friend’s son. The conversation between Hira and the boy showed that Hira did like him a little after all! This relationship of course is not meant to last therefore these interactions will ultimately lead to nothing.

Sehr proved yet again that she is not someone who gives up easily. Even after Nuzhat tells her to get a divorce from Shehryar she decides to do something entirely different. This particular scene was extremely confusing because when Sehr was talking to her phupo about the dinner and what she did it looked like she was talking about the past but later on we saw Shehryar coming back home after the dinner. Perhaps she was talking about the last time Shehryar and Hira went out for dinner but the scene was very puzzling. I felt like there was a lot of talking in this episode but not much happened.

Shehryar treated Sehr like an old toy which he no longer wanted to entertain himself with. The recent developments were definitely in line with his character. Shehryar is still the selfish man he was before, the only difference is that he wants Hira in his life now. Nuzhat has convinced herself that she will have a much better present and future if she gets married to Shehryar or if she chooses to be his ‘friend’! Sajjid Hassan is brilliant as a selfish man who only looks after his own interests and Javeria Abbasi has nailed her character in this drama.

bq

There has been absolutely no character development in this play so far which makes it look like the story will be wrapped up in the last one or two episodes. The characters that were black are still evil and those that were white remain loyal to the people they were loyal with right from the beginning. Many of the scenes in tonight’s episode were stretched without a reason. Waseem continued to mistrust his wife and Sehr still has him wrapped around her little finger. The scenes between Amin and his wife are monotonous to say the least Two weeks back it seemed like it was the ideal time to end this drama but now it is quite clear that the story will go around in circles before it finally comes to an end.

Saboor Ali always has been and still is the weakest link in this drama. Her dialogue delivery is unimpressive and she has definitely not been able to breathe life into her character. All the other actors are well-suited for their roles except for Samina Peerzada whose presence keeps on reminding me of her strong character in Rehaii and her sensible character in Durr-e-Shahwar. Samina Peerzada’s acting is brilliant as usual but an actress like her has so much more to offer than to play the role of an utterly helpless woman. She is graceful and she is an outstanding actress but her role doesn’t have much to offer. The actress who played the role of Sadaf’s neighbor however stood out like a sore thumb! I have always felt that the negative characters in this play always stand out more than the positive ones because they are the ones who usually take the story forward.

Beqasoor – Episode 15

I am glad that the story did not take the turn which I was expecting it to take. The biggest and the most important development in tonight’s episode was Sadaf’s release from prison. Sadaf managed to convince Waseem that he needed her although it would have been so much better if he realized that himself. Deep down Waseem also knows that he cannot live alone otherwise someone as stubborn as him wouldn’t have allowed Sadaf to stay in the house. I must say that it wasn’t the least bit pleasant to watch Sadaf in that helpless state after she returned to her house. She did something terribly foolish out of desperation but it was primarily because of Waseem’s actions. We did not see Sadaf bonding with anyone in the jail therefore watching her share everything that happened in the past with the other prisoner was rather odd. Someone who was just given the news that they were freed from jail wouldn’t want to spend another second in it. That particular scene would have been much more realistic if Sadaf rushed out immediately and she could perhaps say everything she needed to once she met Hira. I was shocked to hear her say that she poisoned her daughter yet again in front of a policeman!

bq

The meeting between Hira and Sadaf however was shown in a much more convincing manner. Sadaf’s doubts and fears were portrayed brilliantly by Samina Peerzada. Although she knew that Sheheryar had taken care of Hira and also helped her get out of jail but even then she wasn’t sure if she should trust him. Hira’s obsession with her ‘abu’ on the other hand is extremely annoying! Even after everything Waseem did to her, she would still much rather be him. Hira still seeks her step father’s approval and would much rather live with him.

It is actually good to see that Sheheryar hasn’t changed altogether. He wants to look after Hira but he does not want anything to do with Sadaf. He wanted to help her out and he did but we didn’t see him apologizing for any of his past mistakes. Also, the relationship between him and his woman friend and now Sehr’s Phupo shows that he is still the same person he was when Sehr met him. Sehr’s Phupo is very clever, she knows that she can only woo Sheheryar if she continues living in the house therefore while she tells Sehr enough to make sure there is a constant rift between her and her husband but at the same time she does not want her to leave Sheheryar. Javeria Abbasi is absolutely brilliant in this role. I am also watching her play a very different and more positive character in drama serial Naraz but she is definitely more convincing as Nuzhat then she is as Ayesha. It is however refreshing to see her playing different kind of roles.

bq1

Babar is back and I am waiting to find out whether he gets to meet Hira or not. Something tells me that Sheheryar wants Hira to marry his friend’s son once she is divorced – which makes me wonder why would someone like him want to marry someone like Hira. We see these rich brats falling for these seedhi sadhi haseenas all the times and most often I find it highly unconvincing. The flashback scenes in tonight’s episode seemed like fillers and some of the scenes were stretched more than necessary but it is good to know that the story is finally moving forward. Samina Peerzada is a brilliant actress but I do feel that her talent could have been utilized in a better way if she was shown playing a role that had something more to offer.

Beqasoor – Episode 14

There were quite a few new developments in tonight’s episode which made it interesting unlike many of the previous episodes. The fact that the focus has shifted from Hira to all the other characters is also another reason why this drama is definitely much better than it was when the focus was on Hira’s marriage and her problems. Shehryar’s character gave the viewers reasons to doubt his intentions. While there is absolutely no doubt that he wants the best for his daughter but it also seems like once he has her divorced he might marry her off to someone he wants her to marry. Also, he hasn’t really been shown doing anything that would ensure that Sadaf is out of the prison soon. He went to the lawyer with Hira for her divorce papers but he never went to anyone to solve Sadaf’s case. His reaction when Nuzhat asked her if Sadaf will come and stay in the same house also suggested that he was not really willing to talk about what will happen once Sadaf is out of the prison perhaps because he has no intentions of getting her out of there.

I must say that watching Waseem struggle was definitely something I had been waiting for. He is someone who was always been looked after really well by his wife, he never had to bother worrying about food or his health but now that he is all alone and he has to look after himself he will realize that he needed Sadaf in his life more than she needed him or perhaps just as much as she needed him. He always took Sadaf and Hira’s concern and love for him for granted because he thought he didn’t need love but he will gradually realize that no one can live alone.

The sudden change in Nuzhat’s attitude was another development which the viewers predicted a long time back. Nuzhat went from ‘aap’ to ‘tum’ in no time when she knew that this was the right time to create a misunderstanding between Sehr and her husband. The way she talked to Shehryar was quite flirtatious which showed what her intentions were. Although Sehr is making another huge mistake but I hold her phupo more responsible for putting her in that situation. She is married and she really should know better but I also feel that she is very young and all the unnecessary advices from her phupo do not help her in any way. Sehr’s meeting with her ex-boyfriend was another important development in tonight’s episode. Her phupo pushed her to mend fences with him and later on went behind her back and told her husband, something which goes to show that Nuzhat only looks out for her own interests.

bq

Sadaf’s time in the prison was covered flawlessly. Until the last episode we saw her having a rather peaceful time in the prison but in this episode what the viewers were shown was a true depiction of the environment within a prison. A woman like Sadaf is a completely misfit in such a place and it seems highly unlikely that she will be out of there any time soon.

Overall, this was an interesting episode which made me look forward to more for a change. I am waiting to find out how Shehryar will react in the next episode and whether or not he will take Hira to meet her mother. I am also waiting to see when Sehr will realize that Nuzhat is not her well wisher. Apart from Saboor Ali, everyone has given flawless performances in this drama. Saboor Ali’s dialogue delivery is not the least bit impressive and Hira is my least favorite character in the play.

Beqasoor – Episode 13

After a long time I enjoyed watching this drama and Hira’s character for once is doing something she needs to do. The change in Shehryar’s attitude towards Hira and her mother turned everything around for Hira. The way the change in his attitude has been shown is very convincing. Although he has been a very selfish person all his life but everything that happened recently made him realize what he had done. He had put his daughter in particular in a situation where she had no choice but to take her own life. There are many flaws in Shehryar’s personality but he is not the kind of person who will be able to bear the burden of being responsible for his daughter’s death. I am still skeptical about his intentions regarding Sadaf but I hope I am wrong. We have seen Sadaf suffering in some way or the other right from the first episode therefore it is about time that her troubles come to an end. I cannot praise Sajjid Hassan enough for making me relate to his character and for his flawless performance. Samina Peerzada as usual was very convincing in tonight’s episode as a helpless mother who would do anything to make one phone call to her daughter. The attitude of policemen was covered very realistically too. Some of the camera shots however were confusing to say the least!

bq

For the first time Hira did not listen to someone who was not her well-wisher but decided to make her decisions herself. She wants to believe that Shehryar wants to help her. The credit for that of course goes to Shehryar because had he not seen her, she would have ended up with Amin! Hira’s decision to go to Babar’s house was yet another smart move. Babar’s mother’s reaction did not come as a surprise at all. Most mothers would react in such a manner after listening to the kind of problems Hira had. Babar is her only son and she cannot see him spending the next few years of his life rescuing Hira. It was a selfish decision but definitely one which I am sure many mothers out there could relate to. Hira is the kind of person who will do anything to please someone she loves therefore it wasn’t surprising when she quietly walked out of Babar’s house and did not get in touch with him again.

The way Sehr reacted to Hira’s presence in her house was completely in line with her character. She knows now that she does not have the option of going back to her father’s house therefore she is even more desperate. I am waiting to find out if the viewers will see any change in Sehr and Phupo’s personalities as well because these two women are in dire need of a reality check too! Waseem is also a very stubborn man right from the first episode. He has not budged from his stance regarding Sehr.

bq1

This is the perfect time to wrap things up. With Shehryar by their side, Hira and Sadaf have a good chance of surviving without Waseem. We have seen these women crying so much in this drama, it is time to give them a happy ending. This drama has some remarkable performances to its credit but the plot rests heavily on helpless women who are continuously crying.

Overall, this was a much better episode. The story seems to be reaching towards an end but it is only the 13th episode therefore the story might be stretched for no reason. I won’t be surprised if Hira goes to Amin and asks him to help her! The change in Shehryar’s character in this episode was a pleasant surprise which made me look forward to the next episode.

Beqasoor – Episode 12

Things are getting more ugly with every passing episode. Beqasoor depicts a very sad and dark side of our society but it does not have anything new to offer. Watching Beqasoor is like reading a very tragic incident from someone’s real life in a newspaper. Something like this would give you goose bumps and will make you very sad but it can most certainly not be entertaining. I doubt that this drama is going to show any solutions for the problems which all the beqasoors in this drama face but we will only see things getting from bad to worse as a new episode airs every week.

I must say that at this point Shehryar’s character has to be the most well etched-out character in the play. Sajjid Hassan as usual has translated this character on screen flawlessly. He never fails to impress his viewers. This is the only character that has shown some shades of grey otherwise all the other characters are quite predicable. Shehryar tries his best to convince Hira to go home with him but Hira’s obsession with her step-father does not allow her to do that. It was definitely strange to see Hira doing so much on her own so soon because someone who has had a near death experience does not have the energy to run the way she was running when she saw Amin. Hira’s meeting with her mother in the jail just like always was spoiled by Saboor Ali’s overacting. I must say that I felt for Hira more when she could not deliver any dialogues because Saboor Ali’s dialogue delivery is beyond disappointing. She was probably asked by the director to do everything in her power to make people feel for her character but I for one have not been able to feel for her.

At this point there is very little hope for Sadaf since both Shehryar and Waseem couldn’t care less about her. There isn’t much that Hira can do for her and I doubt she will go to Babar for help. Waseem is gradually pushing everyone away from himself and now he is all alone. He only wants those people around him who will do things exactly the way he wants and he is incapable of loving anyone. Samina Peerzada is a remarkable actress but Sadaf’s character is disappointing me more with every passing episode. I feel for her and can see why someone in her position will make one mistake after the other out of desperation and because of being stressed out but I can’t help but blame her weak personality for a lot that has happened to her and her daughter. There might have been a time when she did not have a choice but to live with Waseem but that is most certainly not the case now. Hira and Sadaf both are too loyal for their own good – they are complete opposites of all the other characters in the play who do not believe in love or loyalty.

The most important development in tonight’s episode which might have huge repercussions for Sehr was her phupo moving in with her. Sehr trusts her phupo blindly but something tells me that phupo will do anything for money and she already seems to be fascinated by Shehryar. Except for Shehryar, all the other characters in the play are still black and white. Sehr, Phupo and Waseem are simply incapable of feeling anything for anyone, they are selfish to the core and they will only stay with someone as long as it suits them. They are also the kind of people who are not afraid of losing anyone. Sehr is scared of losing her comfortable life otherwise she could not care less about her husband either. We have already seen how conveniently Sehr’s phupo moved on after her divorce. Overall, Beqasoor as a whole has failed to impress. It banks heavily on rona dhona and majburis.

Beqasoor – Episode 11

The story is finally moving forward and even though just like every other episode I couldn’t help but question many of the latest developments yet this was one of those very few episodes of Beqasoor in which there was a great deal of character development. Sheheryar’s attitude towards Hira changed altogether and it was good to see that even with all his flaws he wasn’t going to let someone take his daughter’s life. He is of course responsible for everything that has happened till now because had he not abandoned his daughter and disowned her later on when she came to him, things would have been very different but watching him trying to save her was somewhat refreshing since so far all the characters in this play have been very black and white. Shehryar’s showed a different side of his character today. He is a very stubborn man who will do anything to have his way and now that he has decided to save Hira’s life there is some hope for her. However he is definitely not in the position to blame anyone. He still doesn’t feel bad about the way he left his wife and daughter but he will do whatever it takes to prevent further damage. I won’t be surprised however if he backs out once Hira is perfectly fine.

While I could totally relate to why Sadaf would think Hira was better off dead, I found it very hard to believe that a mother would give poison to her daughter but would not drink that poison herself. It was a very desperate situation because the way Waseem plotted to make this nikkah happen led to circumstances which Sadaf could not foresee also she was under the effect of the medicines which Hira’s phupo gave her therefore she was probably incapable of making a sound decision. Even then the ‘zehr ka pyala’ was a little too clichéd. Until now the fact that Hira is incapable of making any decision on her own is well established. She went ahead with the nikkah when she was pressurized by her step-father and she drank poison when her mother asked her to. Both these things did not solve any of her problems! For the first time tonight I felt for Hira’s character because it seemed like she was just a child who was raised to please everyone. She is someone who was never taught to say no and she cannot change her personality now. Saboor Ali didn’t have a lot of dialogues in tonight’s episode, that helped too! Since she tends to overdo every emotional scene and makes it impossible to feel for her character.

Babar’s happiness was short lived but nevertheless it was good to see him happy even if it was for a little while. I don’t even remember the last time we saw his character so happy with his life. All the plans he made with his mother and his excitement showed what an ideal life Hira could have had with this man but she chose to make those people happy who don’t care about her happiness at all. Sehr’s phupo yet again planted an idea in her head and then waited to watch her react. She always enjoys creating drama and then when she thinks that things might get out of hand she asks Sehr to take it easy. She wants Sehr to stay with Sheheryar because that way she can continue helping her financially but she doesn’t want her to feel happy or secure. She is one of those people who like causing situations which give rise to stress and then she sits back and enjoys the show! She is definitely someone I want to see being punished in the end. Waseem also proved yet again that he is a heartless man who only does what pleases him. He is incapable of loving anyone at all and he is a very bad judge of character. Hira’s phupo said Babur and his mother were coming in the evening but somehow Babur was planning to come the next day, that part was confusing.

Salahuddin Tunio is absolutely brilliant as Amin; there is nothing remotely likable about this man and he is in no way Hira’s match. Now that Amin knows that he is Hira’s husband, he will make sure that he asserts his authority. Will he get Sadaf arrested? Will Sheheryar help Sadaf out of this situation or he is there only for his daughter? For the first time I am waiting to find out what happens next! I must say that I was glad that I didn’t have to watch Saboor Ali’s over acting in this episode. All the other actors are doing their part well.

Beqasoor – Episode 10

The best thing about the latest developments is watching Sadaf realize the gravity of the situation unlike her daughter who is willing to get married to someone like Ameen to please her father. It is impossible for a girl like Hira to even spend a day with someone like Ameen therefore I cannot even remotely relate to how Hira can go ahead with such a decision. After trying everything she could, including talking to Shehryar about the matter Sadaf decides that she would much rather kill her daughter than marry her off with someone like Ameen. Getting married to Ameen would definitely mean that Hira will die a little every single day of her life therefore Sadaf thinks it is better if she dies once and for all. Waseem continued playing games and once again his wife and Hira fell for his tricks. The way Waseem Abbas has portrayed this character on screen is absolutely brilliant. Although the character has nothing new to offer but he is very convincing even when he is lying to his wife about his intentions and plans. Even the viewers can’t help but wonder if he really had a change of heart.

Hira’s character has to be the most least likable of all the characters in the play. We hate Waseem because the character deserves to be hated but Hira’s character is annoying when she should actually be someone the viewers should be feeling sorry for. She is obviously someone who does not think she deserves to be happy but she thinks that her sole purpose in life is to make other people happy. I completely understand that part of her personality but her decision to make her father happy at the expensive of her mother’s happiness is not in line with her character at all. She is a very strong girl but she uses her strength in a way that it is not doing her or anyone any good! She is using her ‘strength’ to make the biggest blunder of her life hoping that in this way she will be able to win her father’s approval. The weakest point of her personality has to be the desire to seek her father’s approval.

There wasn’t enough of Sehr in this episode. I am glad that the phuppo was there to amuse us a little otherwise this play is too depressing. The story is going around in circles at the moment. For the past 3 episodes we have been waiting to see whether Waseem succeeds in his plans or not. Like many other plays on ARY Digital the pace of this play is very slow as well. The only real development in this episode was a slight change in Shehryar’s personality. He told Sadaf off once again in the worst manner possible but later on we saw him thinking about what she said. He has never given anything she has ever said or done a second thought. This was definitely a change in his attitude, now if he goes back to his complete evil old self then I won’t be surprised at all! I must say that Samina Peerzada nailed every single scene in this episode. After all the problems were solved while Saboor Ali’s acting remained unconvincing, Samina Peerzada’s body language and expressions showed that she was still not out of the shock and stress which made those scenes more realistic.
