Bin Roye Episode 2 Review – Simple Yet Appealing
This latest installment of Bin Roye took the story forward considerably. The relationship between all the characters has been very well established in the first two episodes. The chemistry between Mahira Khan and Hamayun Saeed makes their on screen couple a complete success and I am rooting for Irtiza and Saba already although I know only too well that they are not meant to be together. So far Mahira Khan is faultless as Saba. Saba’s character is such that it could have been annoying instead of cute and likeable but the way it has been portrayed definitely makes it very likeable. I must say that tonight’s episode did remind me of Haya in Alvida and how she had an imagined relationship with Haadi in her mind. The big difference is that Saba’s personality traits have been shown in a much more subtle manner and you don’t see her as a negative person.
Irtiza and Saba’s relationship has also been very well defined in these two episodes. Saba’s world revolves around Irtiza. Irtiza considers Saba her best friend and he cares for her deeply. Saman however is someone he has more in common with and he is attracted to her. There were quite a few scenes in tonight’s episode which showed how much they had in common and for now it looks like both of them are equally interested in each other. Irtiza started visiting more often only after he got to know Saman better and Saman asked him to go with them for the family trip because she enjoys his company. Saba’s reaction to Irtiza cancelling his plan of coming to Pakistan once again was shown in an impactful yet subtle way. Saba’s conversation with her friend reminded me of the conversation Haya once had with Farisa in which she asked her whether Haadi felt the same way about her. It is sad that an original script has a been-there-done-that feel to it because most of us have already watched a drama which was inspired from Bin Roye Ansoo, the novel. Also, I am still trying to figure out the age difference between Saman and Irtiza. Hamayun Saeed and Armeena Rana Khan do not have the same chemistry which Hamayun Saeed has with Mahira Khan. Also, Saman’s character so far is quite plain and her dialogues were somewhat short. I am waiting to find out more about her character in the upcoming episodes. As for Irtiza, so far he is also a nice yet a very simple character, he is definitely not Mohid!
Saman’s mother was shown regretting her decision and hoping that her brother will give her daughter back to her. The conversation between her and her husband went to show that this was her decision but not one which was easy to make. Irtiza also mentioned that he saw her crying after she gave Saman to her brother which suggests that Irtiza was old enough to notice such things. The only two scenes in tonight’s episode which were somewhat weak were the ones in which Saba was writing a letter (why write a letter when you can send an email, talk on skype, viber or even whatsapp?) and also when Saba was talking to her friend in school, her voice was too loud and did not quite fit in. Also, there were many times when Hamayun Saeed’s make-up could have been much better.
So far what I like about this show is that the characters are simple yet appealing and they are not black and white. They are the kind of people we know and see around us every day. Some of the locations in tonight’s episode were beautiful. Nothing about this play is Over The Top even though the producers decided to add songs from the Bin Roye, the film but they have been added in such a way that it does not seem awkward. Right now Saba’s character is holding my interest more than any other. The preview of the next episode showed just how sure Saba is that she is the one who will get married to Irtiza. She will most likely get a rude shock in the next episode.

Bin Roye Episode 16 Review – Unimpressive!
This episode had plenty of moments which made me laugh and there were also scenes which made me relate to what Saba was going through and how tough this was for Irtiza. The last few scenes of this episode were somewhat better than the episode as a whole. Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan’s electrifying chemistry made their scenes work even though there were hardly any dialogues or conversations between these two which were meaningful. Every time Irtiza wanted to start a conversation Saba was either sleepy or not in the mood. Saba’s condition clearly indicated that she wasn’t just throwing tantrums but was seriously disturbed and probably needed professional help yet her affluent and educated family failed to do anything about it. Most of the scenes lacked the kind of impact they should have had and Maaz has completely disappeared from the drama. He is like a ghost now, people talk about him but he is not seen in the drama!
The moments which made me laugh included scenes and dialogues focusing on Saba’s “cooking”! Also, the scene in the park in which dadi (the only person in this drama who knows exactly why Saba is acting the way she is) was absolutly clueless about Saba’s state of mind! And then there was another scene in which Saba’s mother and dadi called her to give her a lecture on how to serve her husband better. It was funny watching these women take up the role of typical susralis although one of these women was Saba’s mother and wasn’t even directly related to Irtiza. Saba’s mother’s absence from the dinner table also stood out like a sore thumb. This was supposed to be Saba’s first dinner with her family after weeks but the mother wasn’t even there! Also, watching Irtiza drag Saba from one place to another was repetitive after a while. Saba’s mother said she had a conversation with her but it was not shown so we can only imagine what it would look like when Saba and her mother actually talk about more serious things in life!
The scenes in Saman’s house in the US were much better than the ones back in Pakistan. Everything Irtiza said to Saba in all the conversations tonight lacked the kind of impact which his words would have had. (kennedyandperkins.com) Also, it would have been great watching Saba think about her present situation. Although her scenes summed up her state of mind quite well but the lack of dialogues made these scenes less impactful. Saba and Irtiza’s track is interesting but it needed to be explored. Unfortunately the writer failed to pen down conversations between these two people and add scenarios which would have given more meaning to this track.
The timeline in this episode was confusing as well. The story took a leap of few months in seconds at least twice. Although this drama is going to end very soon but even now there is no definite relationship between leading characters. Saba and her mother’s relationship has never been highlighted, dadi has conveniently forgotten everything and Saba’s father is closer to Irtiza than he is to his ladli beti! In my opinion Bin Roye was the biggest disappointment of this season because there were a lot of viewers who expected it to deliver.
The background score in tonight’s episode just like the previous few was highly inappropriate to say the least! There was romantic music in the background when Irtiza grabbed Saba’s arm and dragged her down the stairs! The preview of the next episode suggested that once again an accident will change the course of this drama.

Bin Roye Episode 15 Review – Aik Aur Zabardasti Ki Shadi!
I was expecting this episode to be intense and emotional but honestly speaking after watching this episode my first thought was “aur bhi dukh hein zamane mei shadi ke siwa”!! The way Saba’s parents were so eager to get rid of their “ladli beti” was beyond me. Just like many other dramas of recent times which did not work for me, this one too is full of characters whose actions do not match their words! And we all know that actions speak louder than words which makes the entire scenario and these characters confusing! So Irtiza decided to get married to Saba because he wanted to “save her”. I would call this shadi another forced development in this play because of the way it was handled. If Irtiza really was looking out for Saba he should have done what she wanted and not forced her yet again to do something she did not want to do! Letting Saba go with Safeer would have been wrong but getting married to her knowing that the connection they once had was completely dead was ridiculous. Even after the way Saba reacted to living in Saman’s room, Irtiza continued to dictate to her.
Saba shouted a lot in this episode and the dialogue “Mujhe marne se dar nahi lagta” was repeated once again which makes me wonder why are the dialogues in this drama so plain and repetitive. Also for the second time Mahira Khan used the word “alfazu” (words) and I am wondering if that actually is a word! These are minor things but ones which make you wonder what the directors were doing on the sets and why couldn’t a writer like Farhat Ishtiaq show a more sound reason for Irtiza getting married to Saba. Saba’s parents are well off and supposedly they love their daughter to bits yet they were okay with marrying her off for the second time without her consent. The justification that Saba does not know better was quite lame!
In the entire drama so far Saba hasn’t had one meaningful conversation with her father or her mother, something which surely sticks out like a sore thumb. Even tonight when she was screaming and she fainted, her parents were not even around!! Also, Saba’s brother’s reappearance in this episode and his concern for her lacked emotional appeal because the brother has been completely out of the picture too. The relationships between all these characters which were shown quite well in the first 3 episodes or so were not taken forward in a proper manner as the story progressed. Also, there have been many instances in which there is no continuity between the scenes which is definitely a huge disappointment most of the times. In tonight’s episode for example the maid told Saba that dadi was calling her and in the next scene Saba was shouting. They should have shown this conversation properly but it was completely abrupt.
Everything that Safeer said to Saba today went to show that Sonia was back in his life! This was another disappointment. Until now the viewers saw Safeer shouting at Saba every single time she talked to him and now he pretended as if he was looking out for her! This was the most useless scene in tonight’s episode which ruined the effect Irtiza’s lashing out on Safeer and Sonia walking out on him had.
Apart from the weak direction, choppy editing and unconvincing developments one aspect of this play which makes it a complete disappointment is the fact that the dialogues are so plain, repetitive and even weak. In tonight’s episode for example the dialogue “aap ke saath meri baat khtm ho gaye, ab mein akele rehna chahti hu.” was confusing. Also, the word talaq was used excessively in tonight’s episode even when it was not needed. The background score in tonight’s episode and the last one too was inappropriate to say the least! Bin Roye has two amazing actors who also share sizzling on-screen chemistry playing the lead yet this episode fell completely flat because of the way these latest developments were taken forward. The only powerful scene in this episode was the one in which Saba remembered how she had wished Saman would die and she ran out of the room screaming.
After watching this episode I don’t have huge expectations from the next two episodes. After watching the previous episode I thought the last three episodes might give the viewers something to remember but that seems unlikely now.

Bin Roye Episode 14 Review – Irtiza In Action!
This episode of Bin Roye proved how much potential this drama had if the story had more substance and if someone as talented as Hamayun Saeed was given the chance to showcase his acting skills. So far Irtiza’s character was completely relegated to the background and the entire focus was on Saba. Irtiza and Saman’s track never resonated with me and for me it was just as forced as Safeer’s track because of the lack of chemistry between Armeena Rana Khan and Hamayun Saeed. Another reason why irtiza and Saman’s track did not work for me was that I didn’t quite understand their connection. In this episode however Irtiza was back to being the person he was before he met Saman and Irtiza’s love for Saba which was the highlight of this drama in the first few episodes once again proved to be the driving force in this latest twist in the story. The scenes in which Irtiza confronted Safeer and Saba both were emotionally charged and were the best scenes of this episode mainly due to Hamayun Saeed’s power-packed performance. It was great watching Irtiza looking out for Saba the way he used to before he met Saman. Mahira Khan just like always gave a brilliant performance; her superb portrayal has been the best part of Bin Roye even in the worst episodes which turned out to be a complete disappointment. Bin Roye could have been far more emotional if the writer explored Irtiza and Saba’a relationship more from different angles even in the previous episodes instead of focusing on only one aspect of this relationship; Irtiza ignoring Saba completely and Saba feeling left out as a result.
Saba’s dialogue “achi bhali meri zindagi guzar rahi hai” was repeated in this episode quite often and the previous one too. I am glad now that her family knows the truth, she can finally stop saying that! Just like all the previous episodes of Bin Roye Saba’s parents’ role in this entire situation wasn’t the least bit impressive. Saba’s mother’s reaction was covered in one scene and the background music in that scene didn’t exactly suit the situation. Hamayun Saeed/Irtiza owned this episode; he was the only one who knew exactly what needed to be done because he understood Saba more than anyone else. He knew that Saba was hiding something but he had no idea she was covering up for Safeer. Mahira Khan’s expressions and body language were right on point especially when Irtiza confronted her.
The older lot in the drama was unfortunately the worst part of this episode; they were clueless and their reactions were not shown properly. Watching Sonia walking out on Safeer and Irtiza telling Sonia exactly what her husband had done was one of the most gratifying parts of this episode. In my opinion Bin Roye could have been a superb emotionally charged drama if some of the characters were etched-out in detail and if few of the unnecessary twists in the story were not forced on the viewers. A love triangle always works if there is chemistry between the leads and their relationships are well established but apart from few episodes like this one which gave the viewers exactly what they wanted to see, most of the times the story did not focus on those aspects which could have added more energy and detail to all the tracks.
This episode belonged to Hamayun Saeed all the way and Mahira Khan deserves all the credit for giving the most credible performance throughout. The preview of the next episode suggested that Irtiza and Saba will get married and Saba will not be able to accept this relationship because of her guilt. Saba’s journey is very interesting and novel but I am afraid that this latest development in the story might be rushed too just like all the other important developments in Bin Roye.

Bin Roye Episode 13 Review – Lackluster
In tonight’s episode the viewers saw Saba putting up with all those things which would break anyone’s heart and spirits completely, with a smile on her face. While the viewers know exactly why Saba is putting up with all this but watching her put on an act because she is trying to prove something to herself and to Saman (who is no longer alive) and also because getting married to Irtiza is not an option for her but what the writer completely failed to cover was Saba’s actual frame of mind. The viewers did not see her thinking about how she actually felt about the situation or the painful experiences she had been through quite recently. Also, she did all this like it was not effecting her in any way. While it is possible for someone who has lost somebody very close to them especially when they hold themselves responsible for their death to disconnect themselves completely for sometime but watching someone do that for a whole year isn’t something most people can relate to. Anyone who is rejected the way Saba was by Safeer and is insulted time and again should at least get depressed if nothing else! Watching Saba play the victim like a pro wasn’t exactly easy to relate to.
Iritiza’s sudden interest in Saba was another aspect of this episode which made me wonder where this love and interest had disappeared when he got married to Saman. Irtiza and Saba’s relationship was established well in the first few episodes but it wasn’t carried forward properly and due to that disconnection it is difficult to feel the same way about Saba and Irtiza at this point. Hamayun Saeed and Mahira Khan however make Saba and Irtiza’s scenes likeable and there are times when you want to see both of them happy even though this entire track has been handled poorly.
Safeer’s character is a lot like Mikael from Mann Mayal; a person who is only there to make the leading lady suffer. There is absolutely nothing likeable about his character and he makes my blood boil when he keeps on telling Saba what a big favor he is doing for her! Why can’t he tell Saba’s parents the truth himself since he does not care about the consequences? Why is he doing Saba this huge favor when he knows that Sonia will leave him if she ever finds out that he is married?
There was a lot of talking in this episode and many of the dialogues were repetitive. The only scene in this episode which was truly gratifying was the one in which Saba breaks the news to her mother in law! The timing was perfect and the way Saba did it was definitely quite gratifying. Saba’s mother in law is another character in this play which is quite annoying! Her double standards and her explanation for everything is confusing most of the times. Safeer has two children with Sonia yet she is looking forward to the day when he will leave her!
Bin Roye’s OST and Mahira Khan’s dresses and acting are the only two good things about Bin Roye but then these things are not enough to make up for the lackluster story and direction which isn’t as skillful or creative as one would have hoped for it to be. The preview of the next episode showed Irtiza finding out the truth in the most dramatic manner. It would be good to see Sonia leaving Safeer. The fact that Irtiza’s concern and love for Saba only surfaced once again after his wife died is sticking out like a sore thumb. If these conversations which show Irtiza’s concern for Saba were also part of those episodes in which Irtiza was married to Saman, it would have been easier for the viewers to connect to his feelings and the connection between these two. Also, Saba and Safeer’s shadi is too forced; Safeer decided he was willing to face the consequences only after he got married to Saba and Irtiza is only worried about Saba’s visa and all the other details about Safeer after Saba got married to him! If Irtiza did his homework before the marriage this wedding wouldn’t have taken place.

Bin Roye Episode 12 Review – Zabardasti Ki Shadi!
And the loser of the year award goes to Safeer! The zabrdasti ki shadi finally took place in this episode and Safeer’s first conversation with his second wife made as little sense as this latest development. Safeer said he was ready to face any kind of reaction from Saba’s family and his own mother yet somehow he depended on Saba to tell everyone the truth! I kept on wondering what was stopping him. This entire track has been handled quite recklessly. This wedding could easily have been avoided especially because Safeer was so willing to deal with the consequences as soon as the marriage took place. I am wondering if this is an attempt to make the viewers feel for Saba. While I did feel for Saba after watching tonight’s episode but the fact is that this particular track has done-to-death written all over it.
Eventually Saba and Safeer both decided they could after all live with each other mainly because Saba was willing to keep Safeer’s secret and even “help” him in more ways than one! Saba’s reaction was quite interesting! It went to show just how much she had changed and had she not held herself responsible for Saman’s death and for feeling guilty about loving Irtiza even after he was married to Saman she would have come across as a complete Allah mian ki gaye today. Saba feels like she deserves all this and she is no longer the girl who would fight to have her own way. The relationship between Safeer and Saba however was awkward to say the least. The way Saba was so “understanding” of Safeer’s situation and the manner in which Safeer actually seemed to be attracted towards Saba for a few seconds made this marriage one of the most weird marriages we have seen on screen. The viewers did not get to see/hear firsthand what was going on in Saba’s head but Safeer’s conversation with her about why she was alright with everything and the last scene of the previous episode suggests that Saba has now dedicated her life to proving that she is a good person who will not harm anyone. Even though there was a good reason behind Saba’s reaction to the shocking news Safeer gave her but the fact is that this track is turning out to be another one of those dusri biwi tracks in which the first wife is demanding and the second one will put up with anything at all. The only big difference here is that the husband will never leave his first wife for the second one.
As if things were not awkward enough as it was, Sonia’s announcement that she was having another baby made things even more complicated. Saba’s parents were completely missing from tonight’s episode. She got married, came to live at her parent’s house after an entire month but was shown only spending time with dadi. It would have been so much better if they died in a car crash too because their disappearance every now and then would have made more sense then! The focus in tonight’s episode was more on Saba’s willingness to accept this new relationship she had with Safeer. I am wondering how this track will help take the story forward because the preview of the next episode suggested that even after 7 months or perhaps more Saba was just as willing to compromise as she was before. While Saba’s reasons are very clear, there is absolutely no reason why Safeer is willing to go along with it since his mother will also find out in the next episode that Saba knows the truth.
Mahira Khan looked exceptionally beautiful in most of the scenes tonight and she acted brilliantly too. Saba yet again was the only good thing about this episode and the only character which makes perfect sense even now. Other than that, Saba’s parents’ disappearance, Safeer’s mother’s unreasonable attitude and Safeer’s unfair/irrational behavior stood out like a sore thumb. Bin Roye should have been a perfect package considering the fact that it has some big names attached to it yet there are plenty of times when you question so many aspects of this drama. So far apart from the choppy editing, the script of Bin Roye has been its weakest link. Also, although there are only few characters in the play but even then there have been many episodes in which the key characters did not get the screen time they should have been given.

Bin Roye Episode 11 Review – Time To Move On?
Finally an episode with some emotional scenes to its credit, this episode reminded me of Saba and Irtiza’s chemistry and their relationship which was the main attraction of this drama in the first few episodes. The way this relationship was completely relegated to the background once Saman came into the picture was the most disappointing turn in Bin Roye. The kind of conversations Irtiza and Saba had today should have been a constant part of this drama, this way the viewers wouldn’t have been left wondering if Irtiza really knew Saba or not! Irtiza’s reaction to dadi’s proposal was very different from that of Saba. He refused to marry Saba because he felt he was not good enough for her and not because he could never imagine getting married to her or because he had never thought on those lines. Saba’s refusal and ultimately her decision to get married to Safeer resonated with me a lot more than Irtiza’s overall behavior. His concern for Saba reminded me of the person we had seen in the first few episodes and I wondered why the writer and the directors failed to keep this side of his personality alive. Same is true for every other person in the house for whom Saba was all of a sudden a first priority now that Saman was gone. Although Saman was supposed to be the “perfect” one in this drama and Saba not so perfect but Saba’s flawed personality has always been much more attractive therefore it was easier for me to connect to Saba’s feelings tonight. Also, Saba’s character is the only one in this drama which has been consistent and which has always made sense. Mahira Khan’s flawless performance is another reason why I never had any problem relating to this character.
Safeer’s mother’s “obsession” with getting him married to Saba had to be the most unconvincing and forced development in this latest episode. This is bound to be another marriage which will not work out but I wish there was a better reason why it took place. Safeer is another weak male character in this drama who could have easily avoided this marriage by telling Saba the truth. It was however good to see Saba stepping into this next phase of her life with the objective to move on. The scene in which Saba makes coffee for Irtiza and the one in which Irtiza tell her how much he loved her were the best scenes of this episode.
Although this episode was much better than the last few but I feel that it could have been far more emotionally overpowering if the dialogues were more powerful. The conversations reminded the viewers of the good old days when Saba and Irtiza were closer to each other but the dialogues weren’t as deep and meaningful as one would have hoped for them to be. The relationship between all the characters in Bin Roye leaves a lot to be desired too like when Dadi talks about her love for Saba you can’t help but wonder where this “love” disappeared in between! Same is true for Saba’s relationship with Irtiza. These relationships needed to be explored and shown on screen accurately.
Mahira Khan/Saba is the only reason why I tune into Bin Roye every week otherwise the drama is filled with characters which fail to make an impact. Hamayun Saeed is doing exactly what was expected from him but Irtiza’s character does not have a lot to offer.

Bin Roye Episode 10 Review – Mahira Khan Steals The Show!
Finally an episode which had some major developments to its credit and had a few emotional scenes as well thanks mainly to Mahira Khan alone but still I feel that this episode could have been way better if the viewers were once again not rushed to the next twist in the story. The pace of Bin Roye is awkward to say the least. In my opinion this episode should have covered the realization by Saman that Saba loved Irtiza and Saman’s death alone. The reactions after Saman’s death and dadi’s suggestion should have been shown in the next episode. Saman realized how much Saba and Irtiza had in common, she also thought of Saba’s reactions not only to Amir’s proposal but also to many other things and she realized that Saba loved Irtiza. This realization part was covered flawlessly but what happened after that was a complete disappointment. What was the point of showing Saman figuring this ‘mystery’ out if it was going to have absolutely no impact on the story. Saman’s conversation with Irtiza which was a direct result of this realization was yet again one of those weak and shallow conversations this drama is littered with. Also, Saba did not recall Saman’s last words often enough therefore this development also fell completely flat and had absolutely no repercussions at all. Saman acted normally with Saba, did not feel guilt or anything else and her conversation with Irtiza revealed nothing about her thoughts either. This development in the story was an epic fail because of the way it was handled! This isn’t the first time that something like this happened in Bin Roye and something tells me that this won’t be the last time either.
The viewers were shown Saman and Irtiza’s romantic scenes repeatedly so that they would feel for Irtiza’s loss after Saman died but Irtiza was hardly shown after the accident except in three scenes and in all these scenes he talked about moving on! Once again the writer and the director laid the foundations for something but failed to carry it through. Irtiza and Saman’s father’s scene was the most ridiculous scene of this entire episode! Irtiza’s wife and the love of his life died in a tragic accident but somehow Maliha’s state of mind was supposed to be a bigger concern than his state of mind. This scene was an extremely lame attempt to show that it was time to move on! I am shocked that these scenes were penned down by Farhat Ishtiaq because they lack depth and even logic.
Saba’s track was the only one tonight which made perfect sense and was covered flawlessly. Mahira Khan nailed every single scene in this episode and it was easy connecting to the emotional turmoil and guilt she felt. Although some of the scenes weren’t shot flawlessly but overall Saba’s track and Mahira Khan’s acting made this episode better than the previous episodes. Saba tried to do whatever she could in order to get rid of the guilt she felt from praying to taking care of Maaz. After Saman’s death there was more focus on her than any other character. A heart-to-heart talk between her and Irtiza was what I missed the most in this episode.
The scene in which Saman is thinking “Ghalib ki poetry, barish ke ilawa bhi ap ko kuch pasand hai” was strange because she wasn’t saying it out loud but somehow Irtiza read her mind! So far the writer has relied heavily on deaths and marriages to take the story forward and all the major twists involved just that! After watching this episode and the preview of the next one I am still wondering what was the logic behind introducing Safeer’s character and his entire track to the story. The scene covering Saman’s accident was exactly like the way Shama had the accident in Dil Banjara, I am wondering if Siraj-ul-Haque took the inspiration from Bin Roye since this scene must have been part of the film.
There wasn’t a single scene in this episode either in which Saba and her mother were shown interacting. Their non-existent relationship is one of the worst parts of this drama because it creates a big vacuum. Bin Roye doesn’t have a lot of impressive performances to its credit, Mahira Khan is the only one who is giving her best, Hamayun Saeed’s character does not have much to offer and Zeba Bakhtiar and Armeena Rana Khan are the weakest link in this play. Every time this drama airs, I can’t help but think about the expectations I attached to it and what a huge disappointment it is turning out to be in terms of script, direction, editing, acting and even make-up. The only saving grace of Bin Roye is Mahira Khan’s powerful performance and Saba’s character.

The expectations attached to Bin Roye were humongous, it was the most awaited drama serial of this year because of multiple reasons. This first episode of Bin Roye started a new era of dramas which will take the filminess in dramas to a whole new level. The introduction to the characters was done in a simple yet impactful manner. Saba (Mahira Khan) and Irtiza’s (Hamayun Saeed) track was the main focus of attention in tonight’s episode. The episode opened with Saba and Irtiza walking in a house in San Francisco which was once a home but now it only brought back memories which caused more pain than happiness perhaps because someone close to them both was no more. This first scene was powerful and gave those viewers who were unfamiliar with the story (like myself) a good reason to find out what had actually happened. This is when the viewers were transported to the past in which they found out more about the relationship between Saba and Irtiza and all the other characters involved.
All the love and attention which Irtiza had given Saba right from the day she was born had convinced her that Irtiza belonged to her alone. For Saba Irtiza’s presence was like oxygen in her life because she was more close to him than any other person in her house. Irtiza had been raised by Saba’s mother (Zeba Bakhtiar) because his parents passed away when he was only 8 years old. He found a companion in Saba when she was born and since then these two cousins have a very strong bond. Saba refused to call Irtiza bhai because she considered him her best friend. In one of the scenes she did call him bhai though which was clearly a blooper which should have been edited out. The best thing about the scenes which revealed Saba’s feelings for Irtiza was that they were short and to the point. There weren’t a lot of dialogues in this episode between the grown up Saba and Irtiza but the scene in which she goes to see the chand pretty much summed up how she felt about her relationship with Irtiza. The scenes showed them as best friends and not as people who were romantically involved.
The fact that Saba got tons of love from her father and grandmother went to show that she wasn’t turning to Irtiza because she had no one else around her who would shower her with love. Saman’s background story was also revealed in this episode. Saman and Saba are sisters but Saman was adopted by her mamu when she was born because he did not have any kids. The scene in which Saman finds out that she was adopted seemed odd at first because a girl her age wouldn’t have been able to understand that conversation but later on her conversation with Saba on the swing suggested that Saman was wise beyond her years. I am in two minds about that scene because watching such a little kid eavesdropping didn’t quite fit in. It also seemed like Saman’s mother made a conscious effort to ensure that she did not spend a lot of time in that house perhaps because she was insecure. Although she said that her father planned the trip for her but somehow it felt like that was not the case. The scene later on in which she apologized to Zeba Bakhtiyar’s character for the short trip showed that her character would keep us guessing. The child star playing Saba’s character in particular was the perfect choice for playing the role.
Three things stood out in this episode more than any other – Saba’s character, the chemistry between the leads and the stunning visuals. Mahira Khan looked incredibly pretty and she made the first impression of Saba’s character very likeable. Saba’s character was shown as possessive but not dominating in any way. Also, this episode was beautifully shot, every scene was visually pleasing. Farhat Ishtiaq’s drama Udaari was full of messages, something tells me that this one is going to focus on entertaining the audience and might turn out to be emotional. Hamayun Saeed made the perfect comeback with Dillagi and I am waiting to see if Irtiza is going to be as appealing as Mohid. Hamayun Saeed just like Mahira Khan is not only a great performer but he also has great screen presence. In this episode Irtiza was introduced as a very kind hearted man who believes in loving everyone. The song in the drama was beautifully sung, directed and choreographed. It had quite a few cute scenes to its credit, especially the one in which Irtiza pulls Saba’s hair! Sarmad Khoosat’s guest appearance did not go unnoticed!
Overall, this episode was entertaining and it served its main purpose of introducing the main characters flawlessly. The appealing visuals made it the kind of episode which you can watch over and over again. Bin Roye has a very talented writer, two immensely gifted directors, a star cast and a big production house to back it all up therefore we expect nothing but the best from it. The preview of the next episode showed that Saba will have to learn to live without Irtiza only too soon! The leading characters have tons of potential and their ties with each other are very interesting, definitely looking forward to what the Bin Roye team has in store for us.

Bin Roye – Movie Review! :)
Ohkay so, Scripted by Farhat Ishtiyaq, Directed by Shehzad Kashmiri & Produced by Momina Duraid, the amazing Pakistani Movie named Bin Roye was released on Eid-ul-Fitr & I must say, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality & the magnitude with which this film was shot, executed & brought in front of us. To be honest, I really can’t promise if I’d be able to keep the story to myself because I really know I will have a hard time in keeping things while reviewing Bin Roye because I want to discuss each & everything in detail, therefore, all the readers are being warned about the unintentional spoiler alerts in advance. :)
The story starts off on a note where Saba (Mahira Khan), our happy-go-lucky, full-of-life & hopeless romantic heroine is madly in love with her first cousin Irtiza (Humayun Saeed). Irtiza has lost his parents & lives with his paternal uncle & aunt; Shafiq (Javed Sheikh) & Maliha (Zeba Bakhtiyar), who are also Saba’s parents, therefore both Saba & Irtiza share a very strong & candid relationship because they have always been best of friends with each other right from their childhood days. For Saba, her life revolves around Irtiza because he is the only man she has ever been in love with, he is the only man she relies on emotionally, he is the only person she thinks she understands the most, but sadly she has never gotten a hint of that sort from him ever. For Saba, it has always been a done deal that Irtiza belongs to her; therefore she never can foresee that things can also go against her imagination & plans ever.
Irtiza decides to go to the US for 2 years & there comes the character of Saman (Armeena Khan) in the picture. Saman happens to be daughter of Shafiq & Maliha but Maliha herself gives away her daughter to her brother & sister in law right after she is born. Many a times, she often thinks of asking her brother to send Saman back to her, but Shafiq always reminds her of the promise she made & the decision she took herself. Shafiq does understand that his wife misses their daughter, but he doesn’t want to put any pressure on Saman’s adoptive parents because he knows this will discomfort their whole family especially Saman.
Saba only allows Irtiza to leave for 2 years & that is the time when her love for him grows even stronger because the idea of her marriage with Irtiza keeps her motivated. They stay in contact throughout & that is the time when Saba feels the need to mould herself into someone Irtiza will appreciate even more. Irtiza comes across Saman & that is when he feels attracted to her. Even though Saba & Saman happen to be sisters, they are poles apart in everything, starting from their natures, to their characters, to their personalities, to their styling & even their auras & I must commend the stylist for paying an attention to detail as far as their styling was concerned because the way both the girls dressed up depicted their backgrounds perfectly. Saman is someone who is always very calm & collected; she is intelligent, has high standards & always maintains her dignity in whatever she does. Irtiza eventually falls in love with Saman because he deems her as an ideal partner.
Irtiza returns to Pakistan just to find out that Saman’s parents have died in a plane crash. He brings her back to Pakistan & that is when Saman tells her mother that she found out a long time back that she was Maliha’s daughter. Saba welcomes Saman wholeheartedly because she feels she has found a new friend in her, but her affection soon turns into hatred when she finds out that Irtiza is in love with Saman & they both are planning to get married. Saba’s Daadi (Azra Masoor) requests her to forgive Irtiza because he couldn’t fall in love with her & that is when Saba’s life changes completely.
Irtiza & Saman get to spend a perfect life, but their happiness ends up being short lived because Saman dies in a tragic road accident leaving her son Maaz behind. Saba’s grandmother & parents suggest that Irtiza should get married to Saba but that is when Saba starts misunderstanding him questioning whether Saman’s death has even affected him or not. Saba ends up making an irrational decision of getting married to an already married man, but that is when her fiancé (Junaid Khan) tells Irtiza about how Saba is aware of each & everything, which then forces Irtiza to do some thinking as to why Saba wants to fall into a deep pit herself.
All this happens when Saba’s hatred for Saman turns into guilt & starts haunting her because this is when it occurs to her that in a moment of oblivion, she prayed & wished for her sister; Saman’s death. This is the time when it dawns on Saba that she was so negatively driven that she ended up being the reason why her sister isn’t alive anymore. Irtiza gets married to Saba because he wants to save her, but Saba, being guilt stricken misunderstands his intentions too. I am sure all you guys will enjoy the rollercoaster ride of emotions because this movie surely takes you on a journey. How Saba & Irtiza find their happy ending is what you guys have to see this movie for. :)
There were just so many positives in this movie that I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I must say it was a time well spent with a perfect direction, perfect script, perfect acting, perfect locations, perfect sets, perfect songs, perfect costumes, perfect makeup & perfect dresses. You for sure will fall in love with the songs & background scores because they added charm to the whole movie starting from the beginning right till the end. I loved the choreography of Ballay Ballay song; Adeel Hussain paired & danced really well with Mahira Khan & made that song a lot more enjoyable for sure. Mahira Khan looked absolutely stunning & I loved her dress in that song especially. I must say the song titled Mahi has to be my favorite & oh, any project of HUM TV can never be complete if Abida Parveen doesn’t grace it with her voice, & that is why the song sung by her was a masterstroke because it complimented all the situations flawlessly.
I am so so so glad that both the actresses Mahira & Armeena chose a no-makeup/natural look because it really enhanced the aspect of reality. Just like how we see in our dramas, they proved it once again that you don’t have to be all dolled up even if you’re in a movie & that is why I really am proud of both Mahira & Armeena for relying solely on their acting because by the end of the day, that is what matters the most. Humayun Saeed was phenomenal as Irtiza & he really lifted the film with his presence. He really gave a perfect face to Irtiza’s character & his acting was actually flawless & when I say flawless, I actually mean, flawless as in on fleek! I must say, all the actors did a brilliant job because the chemistry between the lead pairs was amazing. Humayun Saeed looked graceful with Armeena Khan & his chemistry with Mahira Khan was a treat in its own. Mahira Khan was brilliant as Saba, it really felt like she embraced her character as if it was tailored for her. I really must say that Mahira Khan has evolved so much as an actor that she really doesn’t let you take your eyes off her, her playful & expressive eyes really make you fall in love with her acting. Armeena Khan was sweet & I can’t emphasize enough on how soothing her voice is. She fitted the role of Saman perfectly too because even if she had a smaller role in comparison to Mahira Khan, she made such an impact within what she had to work with that I actually got overwhelmed at her accident scene; which by the way was an example of a perfect & realistic direction for sure. I must say Shehzad Kashmiri really brought out the best in all the actors but there were quite a few scenes that required top-notch acting & oh boy, Mahira Khan nailed it without overdoing anything. Zeba Bakhtiyar just lights up the whole screen & I am so glad she was chosen to play the role of Saba’s mother. Azra Masoor as usual was in her comfort zone for which she nailed the character of Daadi once again & it goes without saying that Javed Sheikh is the favorite father of our industry. ;)
I must say that Shehzad Kashmiri must take a bow for all the hard work he has put into this film because it really paid off. The moment the movie starts, all that you notice is the attention to detail & the perfection with which each & every frame has been put together. The love that the team of Momina Duraid Productions put in this project was so evident because to see all the drama actors who have one way or the other stayed in association with HUM TV Network were somehow made a part of this film. It was so good to see Adeel Hussain, Faiza Hassan, Junaid Khan, Zaheen Tahira along with other actors in guest appearances too. Somehow, this movie really highlighted the love HUM TV Family has for each other & I really appreciate that the producers brought all these actors & also the directors like Haissan Hussain & Surmed Sultan Khoosat under their banner together because it was more like a tribute to them as well for working with HUM TV for so long. I really think this gesture sheds a light on how hard the whole team of Bin Roye has worked because they packed it with a lot of love & gifted it to their viewers on Eid which actually was a perfect treat for HUM TV’s loyal fans. :)
I really feel that Momina Duraid Productions have set the bar really high with Bin Roye & I wish them good luck for all of their future endeavors. Once again, I thank the whole team of Bin Roye for making this movie such a visual treat & a complete entertainment package & I thank Humayun Saeed, Mahira Khan & Armeena Khan for giving their 100% to Bin Roye because I am sure, no one else could’ve pulled it off like this terrific trio did. :)
I highly highly recommend Bin Roye to all the readers & oh, just in case I wasn’t clear, this for sure is a big screen movie. :) Those who’ve watched it, pour in your comments please as I can’t wait to hear from you guys too. :)
Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.
PS: Just a random thought, I really think HUM TV should have delayed Alvida’s broadcast or should’ve kept it on hold till Bin Roye’s release because I remember when Alvida started airing, quite a few comments suggested that the story is similar to Bin Roye & yes, that is true. As I watched Bin Roye, it actually did remind me of Alvida to an extent where I already knew what was going to happen. Obviously, both the projects are completely different but the similar story line does distract you a bit & oh just on a side note, first 3 – 5 minutes of the movie might make you feel that everything’s a bit too forced but just after that, the real magic begins, so just hang in there. ;) Happy Viewing! :)

Bilal Saeed, Momina Mustehsan release latest Punjabi single “Baari”
Following Hamesha with Uzair Jaswal, Momina Mustehsan has now released another duet, this time alongside the heartthrob singer Bilal Saeed. Title Baari, this one is a beautiful track featuring Bilal Saeed and Momina Mustehsan on the vocals. A beautiful composition with meaningful lyrics, the song talks about giving love another chance and will definitely make you fall in love.
Baari has been written, directed, composed and produced by Bilal Saeed. While Momina Mustehsan has given Punjabi a worthwhile try in this song, it is Bilal Saeed who completely owns Baari with his vocals, his singing style and of course his composition for the track.
For Momina Mustehsan, Baari, is a completely different track than Hamesha with Uzair Jaswal and therefore will give you a flavor, if you happen to be a Mustehsan fan.
As far as the video is concerned, Baari also features the Nasreen sensation Rahim Pardesi as well. Although Pardesi has a small role to play, he looks good and so do Momina and Bilal. The video for Baari again makes you feel good as does the song itself.
Listen to Baari here yourself and let us know what you think about this beautiful track. We for one, did enjoy it.
