After receiving severe backlash, Unilever Pakistan has decided to change its name from ‘Fair and Lovely’ to ‘Glow and Lovely’. The brand’s communication moved away from benefits of fairness, whitening and skin lightening, towards the glow, even tone, skin clarity and radiance which are holistic measures of healthy skin.

The brand is becoming more inclusive and has featured models in hijab, western outfit, eastern outfit, curly hair, and dark skin tone. The diversity can be seen as every kind of woman from every walk of life is part of their campaign. The brand is committed to celebrating all skin tones, which will be reflected in the rebranded product’s communications and messaging.

The brand goes by the dialogues, “Fair & Lovely ka naya naam hai Glow and Lovely! Ab har chehra karey glow #GlowandLovely #AbHarChehraKareyGlow.”

This move by Glow and Lovely has been appreciated by many including actresses Sania Saeed and Nadia Jamil. Both of them have appreciated the brand for becoming more inclusive and bringing diversity.

Imran Asharf and Aeshsun Talish’s masterpiece Mushk is doing well on the screens. It is a story about love, about how can anyone hide or stay away from this notion of love, its smell, and aroma. It features Urwa Hocane, Imran Ashraf, Momal Sheikh, Osama Tahir, Qavi Khan, Shamon Abbasi and many others.

Aehsun Talish talked in detail about his drama serial Mushk in an interview.

He shared bow he got the basic idea of Mushk and said, “This all idea was of Imran Ashraf and then we sat down on story and developed all the characters.”

He revealed the reason of choosing Urwa and Imran in lead roles and said, “The character of Adam was different from previous works which he has done. I chose Urwa and Imran liked it. I suppose her character is the most difficult one. There is not a single protagonist in the drama, every character has its importance and if any character is missing, the story is unfinished.”

He further talked about the genre of ‘Mushk’ and said, “Genres are decided by the audience when they finish watching it. Every time I try to make a different story. Mushk has lots of thrill and love.”

Aehsun Talish shared his experience of working with Urwa and said, “I am working with Urwa after 11-12 years and I am realizing she has got photographic memory. Imran has written difficult dialogues and no actor is allowed to change them so Urwa delivers difficult dialogues without any tongue twister which is brilliant.”

Minal Khan is one of the most followed celebrities of Pakistan.

Muneeb Butt recently in an interview with Rafar Rashidi talked about the negative impact of Ertugrul on Pakistan media industry. He supported his argument giving the example of Alif and Meray Pass Tum Ho.

“Everyone after watching Ertugrul is against our industry now, that why don’t we make such dramas. In my personal opinion drams like Ertugrul are rarely produced. I am its biggest fan personally ” said Muneeb Butt

“Ertugrul has now set a standard as a result figures are raised towards our industry. People are asking why don’t you address history and why don’t you work in such projects? Muneeb Butt explained further.

In a recent interview, he discussed on foundations of the media industry with a focus on writers, directors, creative artists, specialists and producers.

Muneeb Butt talked about how he chooses projects and said, “After finishing the shooting of Yaariyan I didn’t sign any project for six months. There are so many projects running on-screen which were offered to me but I didn’t sign any. I was looking for something different and did t want to do a character which I have done before. I wanted to do a project which has some message but I selected a few projects later because of their content.”

He further talked about how people are interested in watching sub-standard dramas which will lead to the production of substandard projects. He said, “Showbiz is a business and every project is a business. You see every project from a business point of view because my last four projects were back to back hit so now I don’t want to take the risk. I select the content which will be a hit. We know what people want to see by going through rating sheets and we get the idea what kind of content people want to see. So at the end of the day, you need to choose projects which are good from a business point of view.” 

“If people stop watching sub-standard shows then productions of such dramas will be stopped. The people who say that it is the fault of producers who make such dramas so it is not their fault, it is the fault of viewers who watch such sub-standard dramas,” Butt added.

Furthermore, he said, “You have remote in your hand and you can change the channel but if you are not changing the channel then you have an interest in it. So it is all about your interest and we have to produce it. If you stop watching sub-standard dramas then channel owners will stop making them.”
