Pakistani female celebrities just like many celebrities the world over, turn to tobacco and alcohol when they are out enjoying with their friends. Pakistani female celebrities however face much more criticism for doing so then the celebrities do in some other countries. The Pakistani people do not think that women should smoke. Drinking is seen as bad whether it is done by male or female celebrities. These Pakistani female celebrities have never talked about their smoking and also have never smoked openly in public but many of them were seem smoking and even drinking in the pictures which were exposed by people they were partying with. Many years back the female celebrities did not reply to such comments and criticism but now they reply to the critics.

Mahira Khan

Mahira Khan’s leaked pictures were controversial not only because she was smoking but also because she was doing it in the middle of the night with Ranbir Kapoor. In one of the leaked videos from her talk show TUC The Lighter Side Of Life, Mahira Khan was saying that she badly needed a smoke. Balaa Episode 29 & 30 Story Review – Depressing

Opening Thoughts – Nigar Has Too Much Power:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa was depressing & after watching it I not only felt disturbed but also wondered what the writer was trying to achieve by showing all such things? I understand that the writer has tried to make a point as to how someone evil can ruin a happy family unit but then all the things that have happened so far makes me wonder that isn’t the writer trying to give too much power to the culprit? Things have been unfavorable yes, but to make her the reason behind people’s deaths is too much? First Zeba, then Batool & now Saleha? Who’s going to be next? Shama, then Taimoor, then Junaid, then Zafar & in the end Balaa Nigaar herself? That’s the only justified ending I see of this drama. The only guy who will & who should survive is Yaqoob, as a compensation to all the beating he’s got so far!

Sad State of Affairs:

Nigar came back but then she again left after having a spat with Taimoor. What does Nigar expect? She has not accepted anyone from Taimoor’s family. She has literally ruined everything like she is not sincere to anyone including Taimoor so what does she expect – does she think Taimoor should hold her in his lap & twirl around singing a song of how she had made him so happy? Nigar is troubled so for her to expect only good things coming her way is her own mistake that too when she herself hasn’t done good to anyone around her.

Junaid is engulfed in guilt that is why he was trying to find some repose in Shama’s lap. Zafar says that he wants to do good by Junaid but then he is not helping him at all. The first thing Junaid requires is a good psychiatrist who can make him come to terms with what has happened in his life & then give him the courage to own what he has done, but then this won’t happen because when it comes to showing these subjects, our writers always take a short cut & resort to an easy way out by ending that character’s life in a suicide. Yes, Junaid has hit the rock bottom but in stead of showing the pile of clichéd negativity, the writer could also have shown something useful in the form of Junaid’s sessions with the doctor but no, itna time aur deemagh kiss ke pass hai, inhain to bas ratings chahiyen!

Ohkay so, the writer has tried to show that just because Nigar didn’t tell anyone about Saleha’s condition, it got worse but then wasn’t Shama living with Saleha under the same roof? After Nigar left & went to her father’s home for 2 months, in those 2 months didn’t it ever occur to Shama that she should take her daughter to the hospital herself because as we can see, Saleha was suffering from chronic pains on a regular basis. Forget about Shama who is too bholi for her own disadvantage, didn’t Taimoor get a chance to pay heed to his sister’s condition considering his Balaa Nigar was gone home & he was alone spending time with his family? Yes, I am not a fan of Balaa’s character (I will refer to Nigar as Balaa from now on) but then again those around her have also only worked towards ruining their own lives so Balaa can not be held solely responsible for the things that have happened.

After so much has happened, Taimoor said he couldn’t find a the missing puzzle to complete the real picture but then this was coming from someone who actually didn’t do anything when Batool died – rather he chose to believe Balaa immediately that just because Hamza ran away, Batool definitely must have been cheating on Junaid, therefore he was justified for firing bullets at her or even Hamza? Taimoor has time & again showcased how brain-free he is therefore whatever he says now doesn’t make an ounce of a difference.

Saleha passed away but Safdar chose to stand by her. That entire scene was emotional & acted well but then, the amount of depression it caused was too much because all I was thinking about was the writer’s motive behind showing all of this. She has given Balaa a bit too much power over others where she always gets away, no one has the courage or brain to put two & two together & she ends up taking lives of others too but indirectly? Yes, Balaa has always initiated & instigated such situations but the saints & goodie-two-shoes characters have also played a part equally in reaching such limits. I will not hold Balaa responsible for all that has happened because Shama was the one who forced Taimoor to get married to her, Taimoor was the one who chose Juniad for Batool, Shama was the one who didn’t do anything to stop this marriage from happening in fact she used to convince Batool too & now Shama didn’t even notice the pain Saleha was suffering from…I mean c’mon, a mother always is vigilant towards her children but Shama is a gone case.

Closing Thoughts – Sickening Route To Ratings:

This episode of Balaa was disturbing & the writer should practice introspection after writing a drama like this. I remember loving & reviewing Zanjabeel Asim Shah’s Marasim, so I know that is her caliber but not sure what made her write Balaa??? The producers should be ashamed a little for going this far in order to generate ratings. What kind of dramas are they making seriously? It is shocking. This drama is full of negativity, I wish I could use the other word but I won’t because everyone knows as it’s self-explanatory. The only thing I find enjoyable is Zafar’s character, his antics & his mannerisms are funny. Sajid Hassan has nailed it. Bilal Abbas Khan should go for some lighter roles, they will suit his personality a bit more. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Balaa.

Dil Aara Episode 2 Story Review – Money Can’t Buy Happiness

Dil Aara Episode 2 Story Review – This second episode of Dil Aara answered some of the questions and left a few unanswered. This, in my opinion, is such an intelligent way of taking the story forward. The screenplay of this drama so far is such that each scene leaves you curious and wanting to find out more. I absolutely love Bee Gul’s dialogues, they are always beautiful and meaningful, the use of words is always impressive too. The topics she chooses to write on are always different and her plays are hardly ever run-of-the-mill and commercial. Apart from the timeline which was slightly confusing and Usman Butt’s shaky performance, everything else about this episode was right on point.

Different Realities

The manner in which, the different realities of Dil Aara’s world were shown in this recent episode was the highlight of the episode. On the one hand, choti was impressed and in awe of Dil Aara’s luxurious lifestyle and on the other hand, there were people who could see that Dil Aara’s life was not “ideal” in any way! Choti is obviously not old enough to understand these things but even Dil Aara’s mother who should understand that her daughter is definitely not better off with a man who is old enough to be her father, chooses not to see that. The scene in which Noor Bibi questioned her about her relationship with Dil Aara, was one of my favorite scenes in this episode. Noor Bibi is more aware of the realities of the haveli than anyone else therefore apart from the obvious age difference, there has to be some other reason too because of which she feels that Dil Aara has not really won a jackpot!

Choti noticed the size of the haveli, the air-conditioned room and of course the chocolates but she did not notice the emptiness in Dil Aara’s eyes. Khanum kept on reminding Dil Aara that she was keeping an eye on her and knew exactly what was going on. She served as a reality check as well whenever Dil Aara was lost in her thoughts, she was there to remind her how things worked in this haveli. Nawab Salahuddin could also see that Dil Aara was lost but at the same time he expects her to adjust in her new life more quickly than any other newly-wed bride! He apologized for his absence but the apology was more of a formality. The scene on the lunch table showed who was in charge in that house and even Nawab Salahuddin did not have much of a say in front of Khanum, it seemed.

Characters and Performances

The characters are unveiling themselves gradually. Even after these two episodes, we don’t know much about the leading characters. Nawab Salahuddin seems like a nice man but surely there must be more to him. Dil Aara’s character is mysterious as well as likeable. The way she is trying hard to stay “attentive” in the present-day although she is still living in the past has been shown in an interesting way. Her impulsive decision to call off the engagement after finding out the truth probably out of anger than anything else is one she is finding it hard to live with. She is still in love with Mohsin and is obviously not happy. She is however wise enough to keep her feelings to herself and was shown trying her best to adjust in her new life.

Khanum reminds me of Hina Bayat’s character in Talkhiyan, she is another person who I am certain will have an interesting back story. I am looking forward to finding out more about her. Badruddin and Nawab Shujauddin (Usman Butt) were introduced in this episode. While the characters are interesting, Usman Butt’s acting left a lot to be desired. Kinza Razzaq has an acting style similar to that of Naveen Waqar but she is more expressive and so far she has made me feel for her character every step of the way. I also like the way she carries herself so elegantly. Hina Bayat owns her character just the way she always does. Abid Ali has a definite screen presence and it is always a pleasure watching him perform. Samina Ahmed is another actress who always performs brilliantly.

Overall Impression

I absolutely love the haunting, old, sad feel of this play so far. The screenplay is engaging and the direction is spot on too. The only scene which confused me was the one in which Khanum asks Dil Aara to go inside because it was going to be evening soon but later on everyone was having lunch and it was day time. This drama continues to remind me of Bunty I Love You, a play which was unorthodox but very powerful.

Maula Jatt To Release In Pakistan And China Same Day

The Legend of Maula Jatt is going to be huge. Yes, we know that already since Bilal Lashari announced it a few years ago after his critically acclaimed Waar. Moreover, the cast of the film is to die for. Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan are uniting on screen while Hamza Ali Abbasi and Humaima Malik will be there to make the experience even more insane. The title of the film was finally annunced along with its release date that yes, it is finally coming to theatres on Eid ul Fitr 2019.

Another huge feat that the film has managed to secure is that it will release in Pakistan and China simultaneously. China does not really allow overlapping releases even of huge Hollywood projects. Amir Khan’s movies Dangal and Secret Superstar smashed the box office in China but still got a late release. So, it is no less feat to be releasing the movie in China on same date as in Pakistan especially when it comes from a small film industry such as that of Pakistan. The Legend of Maula Jatt is however already becoming a legend and we have not even seen the teaser yet!

The latest edition of BCW is happening now and since the fashion week has grown so much over the years, many stars from the drama and film industries walk for well known designers and look oh so beautiful wearing those ensembles. Designers as Nilofar Shahid, Mohsin Naveed Ranjha, Aisha Imran as well as Faiza Saqlain have showcased their collections on the latest BCW and they had A-Lister stars walking for them during their shows as the showstoppers. Reema Khan is hands-down the most beautiful and elegant looking celebrity on the BCW. The Lollywood diva walked the ramp for Mohsin Naveed Ranjha and looked like a queen. Reema Khan has shown that she can still give all the young divas a run for their money.

Ayeza is second in the list and we do not even have to say why. Just look at the diva. Ayeza always stuns whenever she comes on the ramp and is the dream for every bride to be out there as they all want to look like her on their big day. Ayza walked for Faiza Saqlain at the BCW.

Saba Qamar is third in the list and she walked for Uzma Babar. Saba Qamar had her hair in a high bun while she was wearing natural makeup and heavy traditional jewellery. Saba just stole hearts with her perfect bridal outfit and looked like a Rajput queen.

The Aangan couple Sonya Hussyn and Ahsan Khan are next on the list. They rocked the ramp in Tabassum Mughal and literally were complimenting each other to the nines.

Why Are Sajal and Ahad Not Promoting Aangan?

Sajal Ali and Ahad Raza Mir’s on-screen couple was an instant hit when they starred together in Yakeen Ka Safar. This is why people were looking forward to watching them again in their upcoming project. This upcoming project is now a reality and will be airing very soon on HUM.

The second day of the Bridal Couture Week was just as impressive and eventful as the first one. Some of the most known celebrities were seen looking breathtaking on this second day. Deedan Episode 9 Story Review – Disappointing

Opening Thoughts – Joke Or What?

Ohkay so, as much as I want this drama to work, Deedan is turning into a bigger joke week by week. I always tune to it expecting something good out of it but it always disappoints. I still am unable to wrap my head around the fact that the entire cast & crew could come together to make this kind of drama which is poorly written & badly executed.

Caricatures:

Resham got married to Gulbaz & to see him romancing with her was cringe x infinity. The way Resham laughed when Gulbaz got hurt due to the earthquake was ridiculous. The way the characters have been designed makes it hard for me to feel anything for them. At this point, in stead of looking like normal people with some personality all of the characters are looking like caricatures. Resham pleads in front of her father, threatens like its nobody’s business but the next moment goes back to Gulbaz’s Khan to do all that she refused to in front of her father! What a strong woman wow! They are obviously showing that circumstances are turning a strong woman into a bechari but I don’t buy. Also, the writer has tried to give us a love story with a lot of twists & turns but it is not making an impact & is falling flat. The way Resham rebukes Zardab & the way Zardab confesses his love to her has become boring & monotonous now as there is absolutely no chemistry between them & it seems like a failed love affair between two weak individuals!

Zardab’s brother’s whining in front of his mother like a toddler suffering from terrible two was again ridiculous. He always supported Zardab but now suddenly flipped but oh I guess he was against Zardab’s feelings for Resham ever since she got married but then their conversations were just so boring that I never felt like paying heed. So yes, Zardab’s brother was now tired of chasing after Zardab, I mean zahir si baat hai because they are past the age of pakran pakrai!

Palwasha & Aalam Zeb’s track is so boring, bland & just so poorly done that I am unable to figure out its connection with the entire story. All there is to it is that Palwasha was once Resham’s friend & they have gone separate ways so? Aalam Zeb is obviously very cunning & Palwasha is the queen of naivety so? Whatelse? I am not sure where did the writer’s creativity go while writing down this track because there’s absolutely nothing new in it. Also, it seems Aalam Zeb is saving money for their own house because of which he didn’t let Palwasha help her friend Razia but on the other hand, they are living in such a huge villa that too on rent? RIP Bank Balance as well as Logic!!!

Closing Thoughts – Flop:

To be honest, I don’t think this drama is going to change or do better but I will give a couple of episodes a go & see if I want to continue watching it because so far it has only disappointed & hasn’t done anything else. It won’t be wrong to say that Deedan is a flop so far. Please share your thoughts about this hideous episode of Deedan.

Khud Parast Episode 10 Story Review – Strong Storyline

Opening Thoughts – Depth & Detailing:

Ohkay so, this episode of Khud Parast was again well-executed & interesting. It is good to see someone standing up for herself in order to save what belongs to her. Even though there is a lot of plotting & scheming involved but the story of Khud Parast shows that one must not give up especially when they know that the oppressors are wrong. I enjoy dramas like Khud Parast which give me so much to talk about. The writer surely has added a lot of depth & detailing in characters as well as situations which make it a good watch.

Unfair & Unjust Rules:

Hanan lived upto his promise & now he is making sure to do what makes Uswa happy. Obviously, being the youngest child, he will always have a different level of affection & connection with his mother which even Uswa should respect but yes, Bakhtawar should also not take advantage of her position in Hanan’s life by disturbing his marital life.

A lot of viewers might see Uswa as wrong but I see her differently because it was Bakhtawar who pushed Uswa to this limit where she lost respect that she had for Bakhtawar as Hanan’s mother. Right from the beginning, Bakhtawar had an issue with Uswa being opinionated & strong-willed. Bakhtawar tried to turn Uswa into another Beenish & Hanan into another Moeez but when that didn’t happen, she couldn’t tolerate it. In my opinion, it was Bakhtawar who started all this by brain feeding Hanan against Uswa which resulted in him hitting her, so I find Uswa justified in going to such extreme where she is mistreating Bakhtawar while trying to save her marriage. Uswa didn’t leave Hanan even after how he abused her, so it does mean that she wants to make this marriage work.

Bakhtawar has not even respected Beenish for doing everything that she says & she still looks for a chance to rile Moeez up against Beenish so it did sound a little ironic when Bakhtawar gave Beenish’s example to Uswa. If Bakhtawar had at least respected Beenish for what she has become & what she puts up with, it would’ve made a different impact on Uswa but now she has seen that no matter what Beenish does, it still is not enough for her to be respected & treated as a normal family member.

Beenish got to speak to one of Moeez’s girlfriends but then again, it made no difference & it will make no difference because Moeez has made it clear to Beenish that she means nothing to him. All Beenish has to do is accept all of it because she knows she can not change anything.

Maria makes a lot of sense & she didn’t even hold back in letting her mother know that everything that Uswa was doing especially the way she was lying in the name of saving her marriage was wrong. Obviously, her mother didn’t pay heed to what Maria was saying but her concerns are valid.

Hanan has actually changed & that is what is giving Uswa a lot more reason to stand tall in front of Bakhtawar. Their face off’s are always well-worded & well-executed. I really don’t agree with what Bakhtawar says about the foundation of her household & the importance of her values because of all that is based on disparity & injustice. Bakhtwar has different rules for her sons & completely different rules for her daughters in law so it is amusing that she expects everyone to abide by those rules which do not serve any purpose other than pleasing Bakhtawar!

Closing Thoughts – Powerful Direction & Acting:

Overall, this episode of Khud Parast was interesting to watch. The direction & acting in this drama is brilliant which is what makes it worthwhile. I am definitely looking forward to the next episode & the rest of the story. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khud Parast.

Ranjha Ranjha Kardi Episode 6 Story Review – Tough Times Ahead

Every episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, asks for your undivided attention and it keeps you thoroughly entertained throughout. Everything about this drama, whether it is Bhola’s innocence, his mothers helplessness or Noori’s yearning for a perfect life, couldn’t have been shown more impressively on screen. All the leading characters have their own struggles and you find yourself completely engrossed in their stories. This was another well-paced and entertaining episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi which took Noori’s story further considerably.

Bhola Wants To Flee Again

All the scenes in this episode covering Bhola’s track showed how desperately he wanted to run away. From the first scene in which he talked to Komal about the love of his life to the last scene covering how he dreamed about running away, you couldn’t help but feel for both Bhola and his mother. This time Bhola, it seemed, was not talking about Mumtaz Begum but perhaps about Noori who he accidently met not once but twice. His mother was shown trying extra hard to ensure that he does not succeed in running away this time. Watching his mother stay up all night and singing lullabies was heart-wrenching. The scene in which Bhola accused her of being the evil step-mother and the ‘dil ka meil’ dialogue was extremely poignant. Imran Ashraf’s performance tonight was outstanding as usual. The attention to detail has been beyond impressive throughout. From the handkerchief that is neatly attached to his shirt with a safety pin to the facial expressions and hand movements which go so well with this character, everything about his performance has been brilliant. Asma Abbas is equally impressive as the mother who is trying her best to take care of a fully grown man like a baby. How often do we get to see the stories of such people on screen? Hardly ever! Most drama makers don’t even go there because everything from penning down such scripts to executing them is hard work but this drama definitely fits the bill. Bhola’s character has been written down so well. The way he is shown excited about running away because he feels there are better things outside and has no clue what repercussions such a step could have are traits which are common in individuals with such disorders.

Noori’s Love Story Takes A New Turn

So Sahir turned out to be just another character in the story who was looking for a happy ending and he also seemed quite willing to work for it too. Just when Noori’s love story was about to get the ending she wanted, Sahir’s arrest changed everything altogether. This development changed everything for Noori since she was truly desperate to get Sahir out of jail. The way she asked her Baji for money showed her desperation more than anything else. Her decision to go to the prison to meet Sahir was another foolish decision. Noori might act smart but the fact is that she has never really encountered a seriously dangerous situation and has no idea what all this can lead to. Every scene showed that even though Noori was good at covering up and telling lies but there was so much she needed to learn in life. The preview of the next episode showed that Noori will unfortunately learn these lessons the hard way. A big shout out to Iqra Aziz for acting superbly in this episode. You can see that she is not the least bit conscious about her looks and has given ever scene her best. The ill-stitched clothes go so well with the role she is playing.

Overall Impression

Ranjha Ranjha Kardi is entertaining as well as poignant. You can’t help but fall in love with the leading characters in general and Bhola in particular. Even after all these weeks, Bhola continues to be the main attraction in the play. Anyone out there who has not tuned into this drama yet, should watch it ASAP!

The Preview

This episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi set the foundation for what is coming ahead. Noori’s malkan’s husband is not the saint he pretends to be. Noori is definitely not the kind of girl who will stay quite about all this therefore it is highly likely that she will be the one getting into trouble. I feel for Noori already, even with so much determination and such big dreams, she will ultimately have to face situations which will be beyond her control. Will Bhola manage to run away once again?
