Produced by Momina Duraid, directed by Shaquille Khan and written by Sarwat Nazir, Choti Si Zindagi airs on HUM TV on Tuesdays at 8pm PST. The promos of this drama got my interest for sure and I do not mean that in a positive way. The cast comprises Shahzad Sheikh, Iqra Aziz and Nimra Khan in the lead roles and since none of them have left a lasting (good) impression on me before, I was not too keen to watch this drama. Until I saw that the writer is Sarwat Nazir. There is something about her dramas and the relationship between the couples that she portrays that interests me so I decided to give this one a go and although the first few episodes, in my opinion did not have me hooked, something about this play made me keep watching and 6 episodes down – despite some glitches, I am glad I did.

Choti Si Zindagi is the tale of two cities (I could not resist and had to be a bit Charles Dickens-ish). A period drama, if you will, set in the 1970s (an assumption for the drama only tells us at the beginning that the story is of ‘some’ years ago), the drama introduces the families of two brothers, one residing in Sahiwal while the other in Multan. Furqan (Tariq Jameel) is the older brother and has four daughters and a son Urwah (Shahzad Sheikh). While his sisters’ names Muzammil and Khurshid seemed a bit more believable as women often had male names back then, the name Urwah for the male lead caught me by surprise. Not only me it appears for he is made fun of later too at university for having a girlish name. We see that Urwah is traveling to the city to begin his education at the university there. While Urwah is portrayed as the obedient, innocent and slightly awkward young man we see the beginnings of revolt when he is not too happy about his father accompanying him all the way to the university. Having been raised in a small town, his personality has however been primarily shaped by his upbringing and his surroundings.

Furqan’s younger brother Irfan (Rashid Farooqi) lives in Multan with his wife (Farah Shah) and I-am-not-sure-how-many- daughters but the oldest is Ameena (Iqra Aziz). Irfan is unwell and is suddenly worried about his daughters and their marriages and is overjoyed when his brother asks for Ameena’s hand for Urwah. Ameena’s character is meant to be that of an immature and carefree young woman but honestly the way it is portrayed has often left me confused. School/college going – okay, immature and not wanting to do any housework –okay but the childish on the border of mentally unstable behaviour that Iqra Aziz has put into her character did not impress me at all. The loud guffaws, the whining, big eyed look – not on.

Anyway, Urwah’s room mate Sohail (Afraz Rasool) takes him under his wing, well not as sweetly as that sounds, but he introduces him to his friends. He misses no opportunity to poke fun at him when they are together though and although we get he is another carefree and polar opposite of Urwah kind of character, I found the escalating laughter every other second, a bit fake. Azra (Nimra Khan) as the rich yet refreshingly unspoilt and non bratty girl finds herself drawn to Urwah. I failed to see what might attract her to him except what she says herself that he is different and respects women something which she values greatly. Urwah is very awkward around her at first but seems to get comfortable as they meet more often.

When news of his engagement to Ameena is broken to him, Urwah balks and rushes home. He goes back with the assurance though that although engaged, his marriage is no time soon. That backfires too when his father’s jasoos, I mean friend in the city spots Urwah with Azra and reports back to him. Furqan feels it is time to get things moving and has Urwah rushing back home under the pretext that he is unwell. Emotional blackmail and the way things were back in that era prevent Urwah from sticking to his refusal and he is wed to Ameena.

Since I am not a very observant person,therefore if there were any slips in attention to detail then they went unnoticed by myself. I did however like the whole feel of the drama which made me feel I was taken back in time a bit. I enjoyed watching the wedding festivities too for they lacked the overly drawn out grandiose presentations and glamour so common in dramas generally, yet drew me in and that was refreshing in itself.

For me, Shahzad Sheikh is perfect as Urwah. His stiff and awkward demeanour, a young man trying to make sense of this new modern world and liking it yet held back by ties back home, indignant over Sohail’s outrage comments, flattered and awe struck by Azra’s attention, wanting to take a stand for himself but giving in to his parent’s wishes – I can not fault his performance. Iqra Aziz, on the other hand, while I appreciate for coming out of her clogs, I mean comfort zone and throwing herself into a different character, tries a bit too hard and has left me cringing at times. If only she could ditch the childish, lower lip jutting out dialogue delivery and the overly loud crying and comments which no matter how immature you may be do not seem fitting for a teenager – I could relate to Ameena more. Nimra Khan’s acting seems effortless although I still find it a bit difficult to see how Azra is attracted to Urwah to the point of wanting to marry him.

It seems Urwah is not ready to give up Azra yet or tell her of his marriage and since he will return to the city to complete his studies, I wonder how things will develop. How soon, if anytime soon at all, will Ameena ‘grow up’ and what will be the chain of events that will get her on that track? Will Urwah give up Azra? While Choti Si Zindagi does not rank up there amongst the dramas that have us hooked from scene to scene, or shock us with controversial, out of the box stories or emotional blockbusters that have us reaching for a tissue – there is something about the drama that lets you sit back and enjoy watching it unfold.

This episode showed us the characters moving into new phases of their lives – Saleem’s inclination towards Gulshan Ara and her family, Noor’s pregnancy and positive developments in Waseem and Zeb’s relationship. I am not sure what Khawar stands to gain by pushing Saleem towards Gulshan Ara but he seems to be making it his mission and Saleem, out of a sense of duty for his friend and also to upkeep his reputation as the respectable businessman of the neighbourhood, agrees to go deliver the grocery items to Gulshan’s house. While I found Saleem’s reactions and expressions to be spot on, the actress playing Gulshan Ara seemed to grate on my nerves. Do women trying to ‘ensnare’ a man really talk and act like that and do men fall for it? Hmm!

As far as the drama goes, Saleem seemed to be lapping it up but for now he just seems to be loving the attention being paid to him by all these women and does not seem to be blown away by Gulshan just yet. His mother and siblings love him but hearing Noor’s praise being sung day and night has started to make him feel like she has his family wrapped round her little finger and they do not love, appreciate or respect him anymore. That feeling has only magnified of late and enter Tabassum khala and her daughters and all the respect and attention and sweet talk really boosted his ego. Saleem has always been easily influenced by his friends but what I liked was that beneath all that he would have a twinge of guilt where he would question his own actions sometimes. He seems to have left all that behind and is increasingly only annoyed with Noor.

Noor fainted hence Noor is pregnant. Because obviously the two go hand in hand in our dramas. While Saleem’s family and Noor are overjoyed with this news, Saleem is nowhere to be found. Saleem’s mother’s overly dramatic and excited actions seemed a bit OTT initially but I have come to see her as a simple woman who is easily overwhelmed by her feelings and does not try to channel them or present them a certain way. Her reaction at the pregnancy did make me smile. For the first time, I truly disliked Saleem for his retorts and snide remarks when Noor tries to tell him about her pregnancy. Also, for the first time, the whole ‘I want to say/ meri baat sunein’ being left hanging in the air did not bother me for Noor could hardly be expected to just blurt out the news of the baby when Saleem was being mean or yelling at her to hurry on with his breakfast. I felt for her then and while his remarks and attitude were uncalled for and unnecessarily unfair, there was a hint of truth to them for well, that is pretty much all she says to Saleem. I like Noor but I feel she is forever trying to correct him and that makes Saleem get his back up even more. It takes two to tango and Saleem has made zilch effort to make this marriage work but while it is lovely that Noor cares about his family, maybe she could have spent more time trying to connect with him and understand him. I am not saying she is to blame, not at all or that Saleem is justified in his behaviour, except that Noor is maybe a tad too perfect and holier than thou and that irks me, I mean Saleem (!!) just a bit.

I cringed at the conversation between Noor’s older sister and her husband. When she says that a sensible loving woman is able to keep her husband from being drawn to another man, I thought automatically of Noor. For Noor is sensible and she does love Saleem and is right there in his house – yet it obviously appears that he is about to be drawn to another woman’s charms. With the exception of Saleem, Waseem and Zeb have everyone’s blessings and I liked how Zeb’s father says to her that there is nothing wrong with liking someone. With the exception of Noor’s older sister’s mother in law, I also like how the elders in this drama are sensible and positive characters.

I am curious to see what Saleem’s reaction will be when he hears he is about to become a father and whether, like Noor believes, this will change his attitude towards her at all? Is Gulshan Ara a short time distraction or will this end in marriage and will Noor find out? The two dramas penned by Sarwat Nazir that I have watched lately present a happy ending for the female lead at least but not necessarily with the male lead so I am curious to see how this plays out. I had difficulty linking Ayesha Khan to Noor at first but her hurt and feelings were very aptly portrayed in tonight’s episode especially her final scenes with Syed Jibran. Syed Jibran has totally won me over as the insecure, uneducated man who is easily swayed by anyone but his family. His mannerisms and expressions especially in his scenes with Gulshan Ara were so good that even though I can see where this is headed and I should dislike him, he still made me laugh. To be honest, I missed that there was not much screen time devoted to Saleem and Noor’s scenes together in this episode and was not very interested in Gulshan Ara or Zeb and Waseem’s track and hope to see more of Noor and Saleem in the next episode for that is another reason I find myself drawn to dramas penned by Sarwat Nazir that she focuses on the lead couple’s relationship with each other. Ohkay so, the production of Cereal Productions, writing & direction of Iqbal Hussain; Seeta Bagri hit our TV screens last night on TV One & can I just say, I am impressed. The moment you’ll start watching the episode, you’ll feel like you’re watching a Bollywood film & I am most certainly not complaining because I loved every bit of filminess of the episode.

The episode began with a narration telling us about the small fraction of Hindu community that chose Pakistan as their home at the time of partition. The main concern of those people was the fact that if they’ll settle in India, they will be judged on the basis of their caste but just because they felt they’d be free of all those boundaries & labels in Pakistan, they chose it as their home. Then, immediately after the narration, we were introduced to one of the families of Hindu community, settled in Karachi & oh well, that introduction was extravagant, vibrant & cheerful. Even though this drama is making the viewers familiar with the small community that resides in Pakistan, I loved the fact that the writer & the director didn’t show them as any less or any different to the rest of te Pakistanis. They were happy, they had good lives & they seemed emotionally settled otherwise I had a doubt in my mind that may be they will show us the set of problems & social pressures they face on the basis of their religion but that didn’t seem to be the case, at least in the very first episode. I am sure things will get a little complicated in the future but for starter, the director did leave such an impression that even if he will shed a light on certain issues, he will most certainly tackle everything intelligently.

We were introduced to a family of Badrinath (Qavi Khan) & his daughter Seeta (Sarwat Gillani) who belong to Bagri tribe. Badrinath did well for his small family & gave his daughter a humble yet comfortable lifestyle. Badrinath’s tenants are two orphan siblings Ratan Lal (Syed Jibran) & Mala Rani (Shameen Khan). Ratan & Seeta love each other & their love isn’t hidden from Mala who wholeheartedly supports her brother & Seeta. Badrinath suffers from epilepsy but he still tries to keep himself active because he knows he has a daughter to take care of & he has to get her married too. Even though Ratan loves Seeta a lot, he is suffering from financial crisis but at least Seeta supports him morally & motivates him to complete his education so that he can settle down & propose their marriage in front of Seeta’s father. Ratan works as a carpenter & has a huge debt to pay off. Mala Rani is young & peppy, but she also feels she should do something in order to support her brother but has no idea where to start from. Seeta believes in empowering herself from education, that is why she keeps on reminding both Ratan & Mala about the importance of education too.

We were also introduced to Nadnini Daas (Bushra Ansari), a businesswoman who owns a small business of bangles in Hyderabad. Nadini is single & she is a hopeless romantic but her instinct tells her that she should move to Karachi because her love awaits her there. Saeen (Shabbir Jaan); an iron-smith loves Nandini to an extent of being obsessed with her. Saeen wants to get married to Nandini but Nadnini keeps on rejecting his proposal because according to her, she doesn’t love him & she will only get married to the one she will actually fall in love with.

Badrinath’s friend suggests a proposal for Seeta upon hearing how Badri is concerned about her. Just when Badri tells Ratan that he is considering marrying Seeta off, Ratan gets upset but even though Badri couldn’t see it, his friend understands that may be both Seeta & Ratan are interested in each other. Even though Ratan is a tenant, he, Mala, Badrinath & Seeta share strong ties with each other & they actually live like a close knit family. Seeta & Mala share a beautiful bond with each other & they are best of friends who support each other emotionally too. Ratan feels burdened because of all the favors Badri & Seeta have done for him & his younger sister till date but Badri always tries to encourage him because he can see how hardworking Ratan is.

Nandini Daas moves to Karachi & she has a hard time escaping from Hyderabad because Saeen tails her & he openly declares that he will follow her wherever she’d go. Nandini & Ratan come across each other too because Ratan goes to Hyderabad to get a furniture order. I am sure this won’t be the first & the last time they both will meet because this small interaction will actually turn out to be a beginning of their story!

Looks like Aleezay Ahmed & Taimur Zaki; two university students will come across the Hindu community due to their volunteer work for an NGO. Aleezay feels passionately about bringing a change in the society & just because Taimur happens to be her friend, he hops on board with the idea. I am sure they will play an important role in the future episodes where may be through their NGO, they will bring some sort of change in the Hindu community.

Overall, the first episode was brilliant & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I will say that in the initial moments I felt that the characters were acting a bit too dramatically but then as the episode progressed, everything settled down & it was only Mala & Seeta’s interaction that had the entire Bollywoodish feel to it because they both are like that, where they bring out the child in each other & they are just being themselves when they are with each other. I actually liked watching their interactions because they made my mood cheerful. I will say that every single actor, from Qavi Khan, Shabbir Jaan, Bushra Ansari, Sarwat Gillani, Shameen Khan, Syed Jibran, all of them did a wonderful wonderful job. I don’t know what is it but every single time Syed Jibran succeeds in owning his character right from the beginning & it happened this time around too. From his entry in the song to his very first conversation with Seeta, he gave it all & looked perfect as Ratan Lal. Syed Jibran is such a powerful actor & I can’t wait to see how he will elaborate Ratan’s story on screen. Sarwat Gillani looked absolutely stunning & after a long long time, I felt that Sarwat acted effortlessly, it looks like her dialogue delivery has improved a lot & she didn’t seem hesitant in delivering dialogues which actually used to be a weakest point of her acting. From being peppy with her best friend Mala, to throwing tantrums in front of her love interest Ratan, to being an overly concerned daughter to Badri, Sarwat portrayed all the roles of Seeta to perfection. All the other actors fitted their roles perfectly, Shameen Khan was effortless as Mala & then all the experienced actors like Qavi Khan, Shabbir Jaan & Bushra Ansari made their presence felt in the very first episode. I had a great time watching the first episode of Seeta Bagri, the direction for sure was phenomenal & to-the-point, it was dramatic & filmy when needed, but also very thorough in the scenes that required such detailing. The OST was quite different & good to listen to as well. I will give extra points to the set designers for adding so much of colors in the background, everything looked lovely. I can’t wait to see the next episode already, please share your thoughts about this colorful & impressive first episode of Seeta Bagri!

Well, well, well. This is interesting. The latest developments in the story? Well, no not exactly. I am referring to the fact that this was the second last episode which came as a shock to me for only today I was wracking my brain to see if I could recall whether Samina Ejaz’s dramas are dragged out and two names that popped up were Tum Meri Ho and Beqasoor – so I shook my head. A Big Bang production, writer Samina Ejaz, channel ARY Digital – and not touching the 20 episode mark? Yeah, when pigs fly – ah, maybe the time has come then!

Even though the chain of events in this episode seemed fairly predictable, there is still an element of unpredictability and uncertainty over how this drama will end. Upon learning that her mother is seriously ill, the rage that had consumed Zara and fed her desire for revenge seemed to fizzle out instantly and all she could think and wish for was her mother’s health and well being. We also learn that she was marrying Faizan only to spite her mother and she meets him and wipes out any such notions from his mind too. I was glad that the whole typical scenario of hiding the illness from the patient was cut short when Mehwish overhears Zara’s conversation with Tahir and his mother and steps in. It was also good to see Mehwish give in to Zara’s insistence and agree upon treatment.

Chacha and Chachi have taken it upon themselves to see Mehwish back to health again but they state they are doing this only for Zara’s sake. While Mehwish is seen to be reflecting upon the decisions she has made, she has not pined for or asked for Faisal and it would have been odd that Faisal is not shown to think of her for even a moment except that well, Faisal is Faisal. And that should explain it all. Mehwish seems content to have her daughter’s attention and the sound of laughter around her. I liked seeing Mehwish and Zara grow close again.

I felt a bit uneasy over the pressure being exerted on Zara to accept the proposal put forth by Tahir’s parents. I see how loving his parents are and how much they and Tahir care about Zara but that is something that should or could be highlighted to Zara in a positive way rather than make that the reason to accept the proposal so as to not hurt their feelings. Faizan accepted Zara’s confession gracefully but he is still present on the scene so I wonder if Zara may just end up with him.

Amber and Faisal were their usual nauseating self in their happy little bubble. I don’t want to be overly critical but Mehwish’s illness has been diagnosed, second opinions sought, treatment begun and ended and Faisal’s baby is nowhere in sight. How much time has passed? Anyway, I am curious to see how Faisal will react when he hears of Mehwish’s illness. We are given the impression that she is almost cured though now. Is she or will she die and when does Faisal reappear in her life, if at all? I will seriously be sick if there is some super rushed ending where Mehwish forgives Faisal and they all happily celebrate the birth of his baby or something to that effect!

I never thought I would say this, except I think I may have said it in an earlier review but oh well – Saboor Ali was not only bearable but has acted well enough that I could actually relate to her character today where she seems to have thrown everything into the background and become a child who is besides herself with fear over very possibly losing her mother forever. I am unsure how this drama will end but I am definitely looking forward to the last episode and so glad that this has not been stretched unnecessarily. What did you all think of this episode? The first two episodes of Shehrnaz gave the viewers reasons to believe that this drama would be free of clichés but this episode didn’t quite have that advantage. The turn that Shehrnaz and Sherry’s track took in particular was unexpected and slightly disappointing. This twist however has made the story a little complicated and unpredictable. While I am happy that our heroine is not holier-than-thou and she does not think that finding a rich man means that you don’t have to pursue your dreams but in my opinion it would have been far better if this particular track could have been carried forward differently. Shehrnaz lied to her father which in my opinion was the first dent in this beautiful relationship which these two people share. Most of the viewers found the relationship between Shehrnaz and her father endearing because this father trusted his daughter blindly and she was shown as someone who would never betray his trust. Shehrnaz did just that today and I am wondering what repercussions this development will have in the future. The only good aspect of this track was that Shehrnaz is not fascinated by Sherry’s wealth.

After the proposal the focus was on how everyone in the college was talking about their relationship and Shehrnaz and Sherry did not have any conversations after that which was odd! Sherry and Shehrnaz’s track isn’t working for me at all. The proposal scene was cheesy, unexpected and rushed. Farhan Malhi and Sherry’s character both are not the least bit appealing therefore I am pretty sure I am not the only one here who is wondering why a girl like Shehrnaz fell for a boy like him! In this episode Shehrnaz’s father and Shehrnaz both did something they had never done before but while Naseeb Gul did it because he did not want to let his daughter down, Shehrnaz did something that was contrary to what her father would have expected from her.

The fact that Aly Khan turned out to be the producer who is looking for a heroine for his film did not come as a surprise at all. The audition scene was long and once again made me wonder why wasn’t Shehrnaz willing to go along with everything since there was nothing wrong with what was being asked from her. The conversations Shehrnaz had with her friend once again gave an insight into her thinking.

Although Ayeza Khan and Sajid Hassan both once again gave brilliant performances but this episode wasn’t up to the mark mainly because of the latest developments. The preview of the next episode suggested that KK has fallen for Shehrnaz. I hope this does not turn out to be one of those dramas in which every other man falls for the heroine. I truly appreciate Ayeza Khan’s look in this play so far especially because of the foundation she has used. Nowadays many of our heroines are using foundations that make them look white and the directors too use extra lighting and filters to make them as fair as possible. Her look might change in the upcoming episodes but this look is different and it suits here.

And I proudly (umm) present to you the latest twist in our dramas! You know how there is the ever present eavesdropping scenario, or the ‘daydream’ sequence, or the saas/nand/bhabhi saazish, stalkerish other woman, etc – now a new trend seems to be picking up where the father of the ‘hero’ threatens to divorce his wife if his son does not agree to his demands. This tactic was used in the recently concluded drama Yeh Chahatein Yeh Shidatein which aired on GEO (I know, I know, I have no idea why I watched it but I did and no I do not recommend it!) and now Imran’s father used the same to get Imran to give up Aina. Is this is a spin off from the ‘tumhari tarbiyat fell flat’ taunt or what?

Anyways, as the previous few episodes, these two were well paced and interesting too. Aina agrees to meet Imran even though she feels he has let her down and her family by not having his parents show up with the proposal as promised. Imran however tells her his hands are tied and when she leaves him at the park we are given the impression that she had ended things for good. I liked how Faraz went out to look for her and how he cares about Aina as probably Mohsin does too but Faraz tries to understand where she is coming from and help her see the light whereas Mohsin is waiting for her to take a wrong step and at the same time trying to prevent that from happening not purely because he worries for her welfare but because he feels what she may do would go against his sense of what is right and wrong.

Sajal and Faraz are married and under the pretense of leaving to go pick up Sajal’s jewellery Aina has arranged to meet Imran instead and marries him. When he comes to her house he is somehow able to convince her that he can not be without her and a secret nikkah for the time being is the solution. I wonder if the nikkah was to make Aina believe his intentions are true for since they are both technically engaged to others and not eloping, I did not see the need for this urgency otherwise. Aina manages to make it back in time for Sajal’s wedding and makes an excuse about the taxi breaking down which her family accepts.

Aina’s character seems to be the key one in this drama and a complex one. I can understand her agreeing to go ahead with the engagement and making peace with it all thinking that things with Imran have ended and she has disappointed her mother and should begin to move on. I thought that was possibly the sensible step forward too except I did agree with Faraz where he felt that Aina should not be rushed into another relationship and given time to absorb what has happened. I could however also see where Mohsin was coming from given that he has an unease about Aina and does not trust her and felt she should not be given time to complicate things. However, Aina’s mother is on Mohsin’s side and both feel the wedding should take place as soon as possible.

Back to Aina, however. She loves Imran and although she felt let down, she believes what he says when he comes to see her at her house. That too was believable. Aina is impulsive but she cared about her mother and worried about her not forgiving her so what is she thinking now? How can she possibly believe that both families will accept this marriage? Imran’s family for one, went to all lengths to play out a whole drama where they went ahead with Imran’s engagement, then emotionally blackmailed him into accepting it all and insulted Aina’s family in the process. Mohsin and Aina’s mother are angry with Aina and what did actually bother me was that her mother chose to be sensible and agreed to meet with Imran’s family so it was not as if she turned a blind eye to her daughter’s wishes. But then the fact that they did not show up and then landed her beloved nephew in jail was enough for her to want nothing to do with Imran and then she beseeches Aina to forget him. How Aina could see past that to only Imran probably shows that while Aina may seem to love her family she is ready to lose all for the sake of Imran which is what she says actually when she says ‘sub kashtiyan jalla kar ayi hoon’. Aina is foolish in thinking she can have her cake and eat it too but oh well.

I like the way things are moving forward. I wish Naveen would stop widening her eyes at the drop of a hat for, forget Mohsin, she is making me uneasy too. Thankfully Emmad Irfani did not have to squeal, I mean shout in these episodes and his constantly exasperated expressions seemed convincing. Nadia’s (Mohsin’s wife) expressions make me laugh and feel for her at the same time when poor thing is an easy target for everyone’s anger or snide comments, especially Mohsin’s. Her expressions remind me of Nasreen’s, LOL (Nasreen of Rahim Pardesi fame if any of you have watched his videos). I am beginning to warm up to Faraz’s character and Mirza Zain Baig has actually done a decent job in this drama portraying the character of the sensible, level headed brother/cousin which is what a lot of our real life brothers are like. Who actually care for their sisters and believe it or not, do not believe a woman should be bullied into each decision they find fitting. I wish the writer had chosen a different name for Imran’s cousin for he calls Aina ‘Aani’ and if Aina and Aini were not a bit too close for comfort, Aini and Aani most definitely are! Also, why does the background music sound familiar? I am sure I have heard it in another drama – can someone help me out here?

Overall, these two episodes were good to watch. It seems inevitable that Aina will be left to face the music and she and Imran will part ways. What did you all think of these episodes? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Ohkay so, these last two episodes of App Ke Liye were interesting because the story shifted the focus on Shaheer, who was pretty much in the background the whole time. I think it’s about time that this drama should be wrapped up, may be in next 2 – 3 episodes because the drama-makers have compelled the viewers to invest a lot of time in it already. Also, I am not sure why but looks like App Ke Liye will again be airing once a week, which means we’re stuck with it for a lot of weeks once again!

Washma finally got a chance to expose Imdaad Hussain in front of Shaheer & she made possible with Asad’s help. I think Washma overestimated the strength of her relationship with Shaheer & she also overestimated the trust Shaheer had in her because of which she assumed that everything that she will say will be accepted by her husband without any resistance but little did she know that Shaheer was still weak when it came to the matters concerning Nishat.

I thought that Shaheer’s meeting with Abeera will help him in putting things into perspective but he chose to ignore everything that she said & assumed that Abeera herself was jealous of the fact that Shaheer was happy with his 2nd wife. I think Abeera wasted an opportunity & in stead of stalling, she should have just clearly told Shaheer that it is Nishat who can’t see him happy with anyone. Shaheer is quite a simple minded person that is why he trusts everyone easily, so I don’t really understand when it comes to Washma, why Shaheer has issues in trusting her? Why does he always put her & her word after everybody else’s? Also, not sure why Shaheer also grew a little uncomfortable with the fact that Washma hired Asad to work in their firm? I think more than Shaheer, Washma has put her heart & soul into this relationship, so at least she is entitled to this much of trust from her husband but anyways.

Nishat & Imdad planned to drift Washma & Shaheer apart & for the time being they succeeded but they both didn’t have an idea that Areesha learned the truth about what Nishat was planning to do. Fortunately, Areesha chose to listen to Omar & she also paid heed to the fact that Washma was always supportive of Omar, even more than Nishat ever was, that is why after getting to know about Omar’s opinion on everything, Areesha did some digging & found out about each & every single lie that Nishat had told to her & how she was making a fool out of Areesha. It was good that Areesha chose not to stay quiet & without informing anyone, she spoke to Shaheer. The timing was definitely better because that’s when Washma also told Shaheer about everything that Imdaad was doing & handed over the evidence too that she had gathered but Shaheer chose to stay quiet & sent Washma away.

It was pretty obvious that Shaheer learnt the truth about Nishat & he didn’t want her to hurt Washma more, that is why he chose to maintain a distance for the time being. I think it was also because Shaheer himself was in denial & he was emotionally shattered & broken to learn the truth about his elder sister, who he trusted more than anything & anyone in his life, so even he was struggling to deal with it & just because he knew that he won’t be able to bluntly tell Nishat off, he chose to do what she wanted in order to tell her that her opinion still mattered to him & he still respected her. Also, Shaheer knew that Washma won’t be able to understand but he wanted her gone so that he could figure things out on his own, in her absence & just when he will make things right, he will bring her back. I think everything that Shaheer did was because of Areesha’s confession & not because of Washma because till date, it has been made clear that he doesn’t trust Washma blindly in comparison to his sisters, but it still makes things better that now Nishat’s days in Shaheer’s home are numbered!

I really hope they wrap things up quickly because a lot of episodes have been dedicated to quite a simple story already. Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Aap Ke Liye.

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani showed some progress but it upsets me a great deal that the pace of the drama has slowed down so much. Also, I am so not looking forward to the rest of the episodes of this drama because I don’t see it nearing an end any time soon, which is actually quite sad because a drama which was best suited for 18 episodes is now being dragged so much!

So, Sameer started trying his luck to get a kick-start with any sort of a job so that at least he could support himself but he was forced to face the reality that even if he has got nothing to do with his father, his father’s name will always remain attached to him. Sameer tried quite a lot of times but every single time he got the same answer because everyone was pretty much scared to employ him knowing which background he comes from. It was good to see that at least Sameer matured a bit & realized how harsh things in reality were. Sameer has lived quite a comfortable life & that is why everything was so new to him but luckily for him, he met a well-wisher who made things easier for him!

Sameer finally got a job but I am kind of surprised that Babu took him to the exact same place where Dhaani’s fiance Amjad works. Babu himself belongs to Dhaani’s area, he keeps an eye on everything & knows each & every single detail about what transpires in everyone’s life, so I won’t believe that Babu had no idea that it was Amjad who Dhaani was engaged to. Not sure if bringing Amjad & Sameer together was a coincidence or a well-thought out plan of Babu!

It is actually kind of sad that the girl who ruled the drama in the initial stages has now fizzled into the background. Dhaani is nowhere to be seen & I find it a little off-putting that there wasn’t much left in her character to offer after she fell in love with Sameer. It looks like Dhaani has now left everything & sulking is only what she does. Also, the talks about Dhaani & Amjad’s pre-poned wedding do not seem to do much because it looks like it will take some time to happen, which means that it will buy Sameer some time automatically! Raja found out that Sameer is living in his vicinity from now on & I am sure he won’t make things easier for Sameer. Raja will keep on confronting Sameer because he’d want to be sure of Sameer’s ulterior motive for which he moved to their area.

Overall, this episode was quite slow & as much as I liked watching this drama, it has now come to a point where it isn’t giving me much to talk about. For watching purpose, it sure is a great drama but with each passing episode, it is lacking the depth & detail needed by a reviewer to review it. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.
