Osman Khalid Butt has penned the script for Janaan. Armeena sat with Osman Khalid Butt while he was finalising the script for Janaan. “My habits were incorporated into the script like how I laugh and my expressions so you will see Meena in all of Armeena’s shades in the film.”

Armeena confessed that for her, playing a typical housewife in dramas can be a bit of a challenge. “My upbringing is not in accordance with the local culture or the daily activities of Pakistani housewives; so I had to study it — it’s not something that came naturally to me.” She also shared that she took acting courses at Pinewood and Ealing in London. “My shortcomings came to light but I realised that acting schools are great but ultimately it boils down to how centred you are in your character.”

Armeena refuses to endorse whitening products. “I can’t go down the Kim Kardashian route or endorse things that hurt people’s self-esteem because many of my fans are young women.”

She has already made her Bollywood debut with a film that didn’t receive much attention. “I am not averse to Bollywood because I’ve done that already but I have a strong sense of social responsibility. Recently a ‘private’ and objectionable video of singer cum actress Rabi Pirzada went viral on social media. The video, leaked by unknown sources, spread like wildfire and soon a number of people were found sharing Rabi’s dance video without consent.

Some bashed, some supported Rabi for the leak of her videos but most people came forward calling out those who were sharing and spreading the objectionable videos. Following the leak, Rabi, herself, stated that the videos had been in an old smartphone of hers which she had sold and she had sought out help from cyber crime cell against the person she had sold the phone too.

Singer Meesha Shafi, advocate Nighat Dad and filmmaker Jami, also came forward in support of Rabi, stating how the culprit should be punished for leaking the video without Rabi’s consent and that people should stop bashing her for whatever happened.

Following the leak, fake news about Rabi Pirzada committing suicide out of shame has also been doing rounds. Although there is no grain of truth to this news, people have been quick to comment and pass judgement about how Rabi ought to have committed suicide for the mistake she made.

In a society, where a number of people have already succumbed to suicide due to societal pressure and condemnation, actress Armeena Rana Khan, was quick to point out that we didn’t need any more of such incidents whether Rabi had been responsible for the leak of the videos or not.

Tarak had taken a clip from Mehwish Hayat’s movie and condemned Pakistan for refusing polio workers. Mehwish Hayat then pointed out that he had used a clip from her film which was rather fake and had nothing to do with the reality in fact. Just that it was inspired from what happened in a few remote villages.

And therefore when Mehiwsh Hayat corrected him, the Pakistani-Canadian columnist was quick to delete his tweet, which by the way was seen and saved by many.

“Tarek has blocked me but I’ve seen screenshots of his now deleted tweet . Omg! Hilarious. She OWNED him,” wrote Armeena on her Twitter, praising Hayat for her bold step.

Mehwish Hayat too replied to Armeena, with a high five.

Hayat had vowed to promote and protect Pakistan’s image as much as she can and she continues to do sivitely, something many other celebrities just don’t.

Here I was a size 00 weighed 39 Kgs and severely malnourished. I was very sick. I’m sharing this story NOT as a victim but as a VICTOR, I conquered these and so I class them as some of my BIGGEST achievements these last few years. I am happy in my skin now, I meditate and I eat healthy and I have a general feeling of well-being. The purpose is to tell you all that you are beautiful no matter what shape or size you are, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The most important thing in this world is your health. To all those suffering from these horrible ailments, I’m sending you BIG hugs, positive energy and I pray that you may prevail. Ameen,” wrote Armeena.

Armeena Khan, a Pakistani-Canadian actor is doing a British sci-fi film, The Achilles Protocol.

Regarding her character in the film Armeena said, “This is the first time I will be seen in this avatar. It is a far cry from the regular portrayals of [women] that the Pakistani audiences are used to. I am playing the main antagonist and female lead in the film.”

Armeena further shared that the film is a science-fiction and is quite technical. she said that for doing this movie she had to detach herself from the character she has played in Janaan and Yalghaar. For playing the character with the right spirit Armeena is watching independent English films and is also studying relevant literature.

The short film is featuring Armeena Khan, Christopher Faith, Mark Hill and Grace Riley. It has been written and directed by Aatif Zafar.

Regarding the release of the film Armeena shared, “It will primarily release on the International Film Festival circuit. Then it will have a limited international release through various many different nationalities. But of course, I will fly the flag for Pakistan in this project.”

Armeena aims to give an outstanding performance in the film so that the team can take it Cannes next year.
