Ohkay, so fair enough. Let me just say this drama had a fairly decent ending which I wasn’t expecting at all. I will definitely praise the bits that deserve to be praised. I think the developments that they showed in these last 3 episodes were what we all were looking for. I’d once again say that this drama had a lot of potential but may be the unnecessary stretching till 30+ episodes did the trick in losing the plot & pace of the drama. I think ever since the drama began, if they had revolved the plot around Bashar Momin, his character, his background, his feelings & his story, this drama definitely would’ve garnered a lot more fans. I think I’d definitely blame the writer & the director for losing the track & drifting the focus from important aspects to the meaningless ones by giving a lot more coverage to & wasting so many episodes on the supporting characters than needed.
Like we all discussed, Bashar was too softy of a don. I think in one of my reviews I did predict that Rudaba will change him, which was obvious as he was like a lost soul that needed some love, attention & guidance but the way they reached to this point wasn’t convincing at all. I really wish they hadn’t stooped so low to unleash such dark & diabolic side of Bashar because now when he rebounded from it, I had a hard time feeling for him as much as I wanted to. Obviously, Bashar fell weak & all the negativity really burdened him, which he couldn’t cope up with, that’s why he decided he didn’t want all this in his life. Saira & Tayyaba always resonated the negativity to keep him going but now when Rudaba was exposed to all this, Bashar found out that she is a different being who couldn’t bear all that & this is what made him regret doing everything that he ever did to her, in a fit of hatred & anguish. I know it would sound surprising but I kind of enjoyed the scenes between Bashar & Rudaba, I think this is how a love story should be like, less yelling & more talking. Bashar really wanted to make up for the things Rudaba had to face because of him & it was good to see him being repentant repeatedly.
I think the sudden intervention of media & police wasn’t convincing once again. Obviously, they had to show that Bashar being a don was always at a risk of losing his freedom & life but I think we were never given any grounds to know what Bashar did & what level of crimes he was involved in, that’s why it never really made any sense. I so wish they had focused more on his professional life rather than the personal lives, that too of his family, so that we could’ve found the recent turn of events a tad bit interesting.
To see Buland again yearning for Rudaba wasn’t appeasing at all. I mean how much of a self-respect-less can a man be? Did he really think that Rudaba would still be so in love with him to leave Bashar for such a spineless man like him? I think the director & we all could’ve done without him because he was useless even now just like he was useless ever since the drama began.
I think Saira got the shut up call rightly so & just when she needed some. Bashar said it loud & clear that nothing can part him & Rudaba, which was fine because the things later Adil said to her made sense as well. She has been a very self-absorbed & rigid person who never gave importance to anyone, but I think it was about time that she learnt a few lessons of life too.
So, everyone found a closure. Rudaba earned Bashar’s love. Saira learned how to mind her own business. Bashar decided to start afresh & Buland finally let go of his one-sided love for Rudaba. The ending was fair I believe but I’d still say that this drama had a lot of potential if only it was tackled properly. I so wish they hadn’t gone for such an OTT approach in executing this drama. I am sure if they had focused more on the quality of script & acting & hadn’t spent time in meaningless angles & larger-than-life appearance of everything, they might’ve given out a fairly decent play with a bit of acceptable filmy touch to it. I also feel that they should’ve invested more time on the central character & should’ve given him the required coverage to let us know why the drama was named Bashar Momin, some story starting from his childhood to his struggling days & some showcasing of how he got to such a point that made him such a ruthless yet successful don, I believe would’ve sufficed. I think if they had wrapped the drama within 20-22 episodes, it would’ve been a lot more interesting because in between, the drama & its story definitely lost the track as Adil, Saira, Tayyaba & Buland dominated the whole story while Bashar only seemed to be that person who was tending to their issues like a head of the family without having a life of his own. I so wish they had equalized the coverage of the supporting & the main characters to make a balanced & engaging drama. I must say the only person who did justice to his character in terms of acting was Faysal Qureshi & I think he certainly deserves to be credited for this. Share your say please.
Keep Supporting,
Cheers, Zahra Mirza.
ps: I must say by the end I so wished he’d get rid of his BM ring & I was the happiest when he finally let go of it, haha!

If this news is correct It will be the first film for Bushra Ansari who never appeared on big screen in her long career. The film Jawani Phirr Nahin Aani also stars Vasay Chauhdary, Javed Sheikh, Ahmad Butt, Mehwish Hayat, Ayesha Khan and others.
Humayun Saeed is back from Bangkok after facing a horrible accident. Humayun Saeed is thankful to our Creator and his fans who prayed for him. Revealing his future plans, Humayan told he is all set to produce next film which is a light comedy entertainer named ‘Jawani Phirr Nahin Aani‘.
Humayun has finalized the locations in Bangkok, Thailand. Shooting of first spell will begin from November 20th in Thailand. Humayun is planning to complete and release this film within an year. The rumors of this comedy film were in media since early 2014.
In a recent interview to English Daily The News, Instep, famous artist Ali Zafar revealed he was offered the lead role in recently released film O21 which he refused.
Speaking about current scene of Pakistani cinema
“I would love to be a part of this new-age cinema but I have to do it on my own terms,” “Nothing appealing has come my way in the last five years. I was offered the lead in O21 but I wasn’t sure about the concept then and I declined. I’m working on two of my own scripts at the moment. Both are going to be pure entertainment – that’s what the cinema-going public pays to watch.”
O21 was released on Eidul Azha in October 2014 and Shan performed the lead role in this film. Earlier Ali Zafar also refused the character of Sarmad in film Khuda Ke Liye a role which was later performed by Fawwad Khan.
After the last two episodes which were rather shocking and somewhat abrupt, with this episode the story moved forward in a more convincing manner although there were bits which still made you wonder about the issues Imroze has and also it seemed like everything was happening at once.
Shams’ reunion with her mother couldn’t have been shown in a better way. I had a bad feeling that the storyline may get even more complicated from here on but Tabbasum and Shams are off to a great start. Tabbasum tells one last thing which she thinks Shams should know before they start over again. The scenes between Tabbasum, Haider and Shams were very touching. Tabbasum will play a pivotal role in bringing Shams and Sara together, I am waiting to find out if Shams changes his stance regarding having children. I cannot help but praise Mazhar Ali’s convincing and natural acting over and over again. I really hope that we get to see him in dramas more often. Uzma Gillani like always was brilliant while showing how happy she was and how much Tabbasum has changed.
Imroze and Paymaan looked like husband and wife for the first time today, we definitely needed to see more of such scenes in the previous episodes as well. Paymaan finally discovered the marks on Imroze’s body and questioned about them – better late than never! It was strange that everything happened at the same time, the reunion, Roomi realizing that people were using him and change in Imroze’s behaviour. Roomi realized that people treated him like a door-mat, he does not want to solve anyone’s marital problems or pick someone’s kid from school. This particular scene actually made me laugh! I am glad that Roomi finally showed some emotion other than being kind to people all the time, it’s about time that he got tired of playing the agony aunt! The second Imroze talked to Roomi, he was back to being a husband to Paymaan although in the last episode he was doubting his wife just as much as Roomi but for some odd reason which the viewers were not shown Imroze does not blame Paymaan for anything any more. He wants Roomi out of their life and start over again. I wish we could know the reason behind this sudden change in Imroze’s behaviour. We were shown Imroze thinking out loud over and over again about how his wife had cheated him and now all of a sudden without any thinking whatsoever he is convinced that Roomi is the only one to be blamed. Roomi’s lectures to Imroze regarding how he should be spending more time with his wife did not help at all! I must admit I did feel for Roomi after watching tonight’s episode.
The way Imroze felt about the change in Paymaan’s outlook and the scene on the beach went to show that Imroze is a very conservative person which could also be because of his insecurities. He tells Roomi that he never wanted to marry someone modern and then later on the beach he says to Paymaan that everyone was looking at her. Well, at least we know now why Imroze fell for Paymaan!
The preview of the next episode was a big blunder because it practically showed everything that is going to happen in the next episode. I am not going to share the details here so that the viewers who have not seen this episode yet have the option of not watching the preview because if they do then they surely will have very little reason to watch the next episode! The only mystery is finding out which disease Imroze has otherwise we pretty much know now what turn the story is going to take from here.
After his hit play Pyare Afzal Khalil-ur-Reham Qamar did what no other writer has ever done before, he wrote a script about his own love story in the form of Sadqay Tumhare. The fans were not happy with the writer because he killed the hero Afzal who was loved by many so many fans are scared that Sadqay Tumhare might have a sad ending too. Khalil-ur-Rehman while giving an interview to Dawn News said something which could possibly mean that his new play will have a sad ending too.
Talking about the play, he said, “Ek scene aisa nahin hai jo drame ki khatir add kiya gaya ho(There is no scene that has been added for the sake of the drama).”
This is not a commercial project for the writer but it is something very close to his heart.
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar also admits that he felt the need to tell the viewers his story because he feels that he did not do justice to Shano. “Mein shayad uske samne gunehgaar tha(Perhaps I let her down). I wish to give tributes to her.”
When the Dawn News reporter asked him if this time his drama will have a happy ending he said, “Ye joh hum zinda reh jate hai woh hai sad ending (That we remain living, is the sad ending).”
Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar is very happy with the way the director has handled the story and also with the performance of the actors.
The video of the woman who walked for few hours in New York City went viral few days back. Now some people decided to make this new video in which a woman was asked to walk on the streets of Manhattan wearing Western outfit and then the same woman walked in the same streets wearing Hijaab. When the woman was wearing Western outfit men passed all kind of filthy comments. The men hit on this woman like she was a free commodity. When the same woman was covered in Hijaab no one even gave her a second look. The people dgfev online casino behind this video must want to prove that the way a woman dresses up plays a significant role in how people around her react. Men automatically give women respect or ignore her or atleast do not think about her or look at her in a bad way.
I have few limits when it comes to working in Bollywood which I will never cross. Being a Pakistani I will never perform a kiss scene or a bold scene on silver screen. These are the words of Ali Zafar while talking to BBC Urdu service recently.
Ali told, whether he gets work or not, he will stand by his limits. ‘Salman Khan is a super star despite never an on screen kiss scene’ argues Ali. But his film London, Paris, Newyork has a kiss scene of Ali, so what he has to say on this?
As per Ali that kiss was necessary, but it was performed by his body double int he film.
Ali is a die hard fan of Indian artist Amitabh Bachan. Currently he is promoting his upcoming film Kil Dil. Ali is happy that more and more Pakistani artists like Humaima Malik, Imran Abbas and Fawad Khan are opting to appear in Indian films and they are also getting offers from Indian film makers.

Mehreen’s direction style is totally different from routine direction style of PTV dramas. Her dramas have much shorter scenes when compared with contemporary drama of 1990’s. She also prefers dialogues in simple and spoken language rather heavy dialogues full of philosophy. Symbolism and use of props and space is another important aspect of her direction.

In Dastak, Shazia appeared opposite another young actor Ayyaz Nayek. It was also first major appearance of Ayyaz Nayek in a television drama. Despite success of Dastak, acting has never been a first choice profession for Shazia. Its the modelling where she worked consistently. Then in late 1990’s ramp modelling opportunities were scarce. Shazia was a popular model for print media and commercials. She has worked in many top brands commercials too. In between Shazia also appeared in few selective dramas in 1990’s and 2000’s. She is no more active in either acting or modelling.
As mentioned above Dastak was the first television play for both Shazia Akhtar and Ayyaz Nayek but they never worked together again. However in early 90’s the on screen pair of drama Dastak tied the knot in real life. Their wedding received wide coverage in print media. Ayyaz started his acting career from film Nahin Abhi Nahin in 1981. He played the second lead role with main hero Faisal Rehman who was also making deubt from this film. Both Faisal and Ayyaz were in teenage when Nahin Abhi Nahin was released. The success of Nahin Abhi Nahin, brought further film offers for Ayyaz Naik and in 1980’s he appeared in many films mostly opposite Babra Sharif and Durdana Rehman. Nahin Abhi Nahin, Pyar Karan To Nahin Darna, Ek Duje Ke Liye are his famous films. Despite moderate success in films, he had not pursued film career.
On television Ayyaz’s first major appearance was in drama Dastak from PTV Karachi center opposite Shazia Akhtar. Chand Girahn in 1991 is the most famous drama of Ayaz Naik where Huma Nawab was his co-star. Apart from Chand Girahn, Ayaz also worked in few dramas from PTV Islamabad center like Sangchoor, Sarang and Junoon. From mid 1990’s onward Ayaz almost vanished from the television. Ayyaz Naik currently lives in Islamabad working as a government officer. Ayyaz Nayek has not remarried after his failed first marriage.

Ohkay so thankfully things are falling into perspective. I think the pace of the play is picking up & let’s see where the story will take us. I am glad that this episode in particular had smaller & a lot of scenes which made the episode a bit interesting & happening. Even though the drama makers have taken a lot of time in unwinding the story & we still are looking forward to see what’s in store for us, I feel the cast should be given the due credit for enacting their roles brilliantly. I must say even though we haven’t seen Ali Kazmi in this drama before, but he made his presence felt in those limited scenes too which is commendable because it seems like he’s so much into his character like everybody else (excluding Marina Khan).
So, now we know where Salma’s husband Sikandar (Ali Kazmi) was. Obviously we don’t know the reason & the whole story behind but he was serving his time in prison while Salma was working hard to take care of his mother & his daughter that too on his behalf. Now we know that Salma got married to Sikandar when Imaan was just 3 y/o & she has been in this relation for like 12 years but I didn’t really get the wishful thinking that Salma shared with Aliya & I couldn’t really connect to the glimmer of hope that Salma spoke about that may be Sikandar has changed because she found him calm this time around. I guess the span of 12 years is enough to know a person in & out so what really made Salma say that? Obviously for now Sikandar has contained himself but I think it won’t take him too long to flip to his real self as his mother started doing what she was waiting for & that was to brain feed Sikandar against Imaan & Salma. Even though Sikandar is trying to be calm & composed but I think it’s just a facade that he’s carrying which he will let go of pretty soon.
Is it just me or Jamshed’s joblessness is becoming bothersome? Yes, we know that he’s trying his luck but why is he always looking for short cuts? He depended on his Mamu & now he is depending on his relative to help him out? I think Jamshed should’ve understood by now that when his Uncle couldn’t help him, why would a distant relative do that? I must say even though the whole issue was repetitive, I giggled a lot at Jamshed’s fight & the things his relative said to him in return. To add more to his woes, he got to know that Nadir has decided to get married to Asma & I think Nadir made the right decision because Asma’s a very decent girl & she certainly deserved better. I must say the actress who has played the role of Asma has been brilliant because no matter how short her scenes are, she always makes me feel for her a lot.
Oh yes, once again, Bhatti found the chance to spend some time with Salma & they both are unaware of the fact that unconsciously they have started to enjoy each other’s company. Bhatti was honest about why he wants to befriend Salma as he really yearns to have a desi friend but Salma, no matter how much she resists, always ends up spending some time with him because he makes her laugh & they both share a certain wavelength which can’t be described. Obviously, even if they’d try to give some reasoning for it, they won’t be able to come up with a decent explanation as to why they share a conversation over a coffee or why Bhatti always grabs an opportunity he gets to have a heart-to-heart talk with Salma, but I guess these meaningless meetings & candid conversations will help them both develop an understanding over the time. I must say my favourite part of the whole episode are the scenes of Bhatti & Salma because they genuinely look like they’re in need of a support system & they need someone to be ears to their innermost feelings. Apparently, Salma has a lot to hide in comparison to Bhatti but it’s just a matter of time when they’ll end up discussing everything with each other I suppose.
I am glad that this episode had very limited in fact lesser scenes of Michelle/Marina Khan. I think Jamshed will end up working at her restaurant & now when he knows that Asma’s not a part of his life anymore, he’ll obviously get infatuated with her. Let’s see what’s yet to come. I am wondering that Salma suspects Kashif for always keeping an eye on her; he still hasn’t found out that she has been spending some time with Bhatti lately? & oh yes, I had a good laugh at Bhatti’s comment on Aliya & her English, it was funny. :) Share your thoughts please.
Saqib’s Dad(Faiq) clearly wanted him to get committed soon, because of the “Saira” threat. Mera faisla atal hai, aur aankhon par patti baandh kar rishte tay nahi hote. Saqib didn’t want to give in, ji abbu, mein ne samjha diya hai ammi ko, rishte dosron ki haisiyat aur business dekh kar kiye jate hain. If Faiq’s friend (Shams) hadn’t told him his true intentions about making Saqib a ghar-damaad , Faiq would never have agreed to go to Saira’s house for a rishta! Khair issi bahane baat tou bani! But Faiq has decided not to tell his family why he agreed to this rishta.
Shafaq’s mother finds her dost ka beta (Farooq)and she deems him fit for her daughter.Shafaq’s self-pity countinues. Mein khud ko achi nahi lagti tou doosron ko kya lagoon gi?Her mother boosts her confidence. Ab dunya ko tumhe meri nazron se dekhna pare ga. And the wait for the arrival of Mr.Perfect starts.
The scene between Shafaq and her maid was not necessary. Why is it that girls are always taught that the only good thing that can happen to them is marriage? Is confidence only linked with marriage? I am not at all denying the value of the sacred relationship that is marriage, but this is the 21st century and about time that girls in dramas are shown confident without their dream man.
At the first meeting of Shafaq and Farooq Saira couldn’t keep her mouth closed. She had all the things in the world to talk to him about and he was attracted to her. The moment Saira left the room, he said it all aloud. Mujhe aisi larkiyan buhat pasand hain, aap Saira se mere rishte ki baat karein please. Everything has been fixed for Saira but the new circumstances will definitely send Shafaq into further depression. But what I like about her and Saira’s friendship is that both of them are never jealous of each other.
Saira was over the moon about her and Saqib’s engagement and she couldn’t stop bragging. Dekha ammi, khuwab dekha tab hi poora hua na! Most of episode 4 was all about mangni ki tayyariyan and then the engagement and then the BIG party after the engagement. Faiq was offered a partnership from a Mr.Gulzar_ a big businessman. He was relieved that he didn’t have to work with Shams anymore. Will this partnership have an important role in the future?
The game scene on the celebration day was fun to watch. It was funny how Saqib said “I love you” to Shafaq and then after taking the blindfold off, said “I love you” to Saira, while feeling guilty.
The last scene came as a shock. Saqib is now all alone in the world. Will he be able to recover from this shock? Will he run his father’s business successfully or will he lose everything?
The direction and production quality of CSBA is top-notch. I love all the characters and the actors have done a marvelous job.
This drama proves that sometimes one liners like “apne ap se bahar bara buzdil hun mei”“ap bhi purtey parhatey ho ya sirf rukhwali krte ho” “mulaqat ki hami bhur lu tu mulaqat zarur krta hun” ” pehli baar us ke chehray pe ghussa nahi tha, akr bhi nahi thi”and many more like these make the viewers understand situations and characters more than long paragraphs of in-depth analysis. All through tonight’s episode these one liners made me go aww, they made me laugh and definitely said a great deal about all the characters. The excessive use of Bha ji by Shano to make sure that Fayyaz knows that he is no more than that for her was a minor addition that made a big difference. I am sure many viewers like me could tell how Fayyaz must have felt every time Shano addressed him as Bha ji. The way Shano says ami Geven after her mother hits her showed that she knows she is right and that her mother’s behavior will not change anything at all, she remained unaffected by her mother’s response! How amazing was that! Khalil is a completely different person around Shano not because he is under the influence of Maqsood’s lecture or afraid of his khaloo but because he is in love! Shano is not Khalil’s zid but she is his love because if she was only a zid he wouldn’t have been so lost around her. The opening scene of tonight’s episode revealed a very different Khalil and from there on the viewers were going to be introduced to a whole new side of Khalil. When Khalil hears Shano telling Fayyaz off he does not know what to expect, he expected Shano to be completely different and she is just that but only when she is with Khalil.
Khalil makes sure Fayyaz knows that he is not his match at all. The way he literally bullied Fayyaz into silence was hilarious. Khalil was out to impress Shano and he knew exactly how to go about it. I would give full marks to Mukarram Kaleem for playing the annoyed yet helpless Fayyaz brilliantly. The letter which Khalil wrote to Shano was actually much more than just a love letter; Khalil means business, he wants to know if Shano is with him or not because if she is with him then nothing else matters. He is not going to waste time because he is intelligent enough to know what is coming ahead. When Khalil returns home after meeting Shano he is a changed man, the satisfaction on his face shows that he has found what he was probably not even looking for, like a man who stepped on a hidden treasure when he wasn’t even searching for it. Life has a new meaning for Khalil, he looks forward to Shano’s reply so that he can figure out what he wants to do next. In the last episode we saw Maqsood lecturing Khalil about love and how essential it was to respect the person he loved. Although that conversation was beautifully written but Khalil did not need to hear any of it because being in love has taught him everything he needed to learn…” pyaar se ziada us ki izzat krta hun”, Khalil tells the postman but he is not going to beg his khala khalu to accept his proposal.
Samiya Mumtaz plays the zalim samaj with perfection; what is a good love story without the samaj ki dewar standing in its way! Sadqay Tumhare to me is like a beautiful fairytale; we have a gorgeous leading lady, a handsome hero and the perfect vamp. It is intelligently written because everything is blended well, the romance and the humor. Humaira’s reaction when she meets Khalil and the way she describes to Shano how she recognized him later on was another beautiful aspect of tonight’s episode. Hearing those dialogues was like listening to a perfectly penned down piece of poetry.
Adnan Malik and Mahira Khan’s flawless performances along with the sizzling chemistry between the two makes the romance between them a treat to watch. Both of them deliver the romantic dialogues in such a way that they melt your heart and do not sound cheesy at all. Both these actors have brought their characters to life in a way that you can’t help but look forward to their scenes. Each and every scene deserves to be cherished. I have already watched the episode twice and intend to watch it over and over again! I am in love with Shano and Khalil’s love story, every episode of Sadqay Tumhare has delivered till now. The second this drama starts I know that I will be glued to be my television screen for the next one hour. Sadqay Tumhare is very special to me, I haven’t enjoyed a romantic play this much in a long time. A big thanks to the entire team of Sadqay Tumhare for a job very well done.

Hamayun Saeed was severely injured in a car accident while he was in Bangkok shooting for one of his upcoming films. His car collided with a double decker bus and everyone in the car was injured. The good news is that Hamayun Saeed is fine now, he gave a brief interview to Express Tribune in which he said that it was due to the prayers of his fans that he was alive today. “It (the accident) was so bad that I couldn’t have even imagined coming out [of it] alive. Saadat Hassan Manto is a leading name of Urdu literature especially for short story writing. This article is a compilation of films and television dramas either written by Saadat Hussain Manto or based on his short stories.
Beli
In Pakistan the showbiz scene starts from film Industry where first film Teri Yaad was released in 1948 and proved dead flop at box office. The infant film industry was struggling due to lack of finance and skilled workers, however gradually the situation was stabilized.
Beli released in 1950 was the only film/drama which Saadat Hassan Manto wrote himself. Beli introduced few artists which later proved assets of Pakistani films. Sabiha Khanum, Santosh Kumar and music composer Rasheed Attray made their debut from this film. Director Masud Parvez later also provided many remarkable films like Koel, Intizar, Heer Ranjha. The film also starred Shahina Ghaznavi who is step khala(aunt) of Salma Agha,i.e. daughter of Anwari Begum and Rafiq Ghazanvi.
Saadat Hassan Manto passed away in 1955 so Beli in 1950 is the only film which he wrote himself. After Beli few films were adapted from his short stories.
Saadat Hassan Manto
Badnaam Badnaam in 1966 was a superhit film based on short story Jhumkay written by Saadat Hussain Manto. Directed and produced by Iqbal Shahzad, Allaudin, Nabeela, Neelo, Ejaz and Rangeela were in lead roles. Allaudin’s evergreen dialog ‘kaun laya hai yeh jhumkay kahan say aaye yeh jhumkay‘ was an instant hit. The film also featured the evergreen song in the voice of Surraiya Multanikar Baray Be Murawat Hain Yeh Hussn Walay.Deebo from East Pakistan was the composer of Badnaam. Badnaam is considered a classic in the history of Pakistani film industry.
Ek Gunah Aur Sahi
Ek Gunah Aur Sahi released in 1975 was a super hit film which celebrated platinum jubilee. Ek Gunaah Aur Sahi was inspired from a short storry Mummy written by Saadat Hassan Manto. It was directed by Hassan Tariq and his wife Raani was in lead role paried with Muhammad Ali. However the pivotal role of Mummy was played by legendary Sabiha Khanum. Nisar Bazmi was the music composer for Ek Gunah Aur Sahi.
In early 1980’s Pakistani Urdu cinema gradually declined and at the same time Pakistani television attracted viewership and gained popularity due to its strong dramas. However unlike films which is a private entity, Pakistan television was a government institution where some censorship policy as per the wished of the government and ruler is always followed.
Pakistan television though adapted many novels for dramas, but no story of Manto was dramatized till 1990’s. After 1990’s many short stories of Saadat Hassan Manto were converted to one episode dramas but there is no drama serial to date.
Kahani Ghar
Kahani Ghar was a drama series from PTV Lahore center in mid 1990’s featuring dramatized versions of famous short stories from Urdu literature. The series also featured two short stories of Saadat Hassan Manto
One was named Tutu where Nauman Ejaz and Iffat Raheem played the lead roles, whereas Akbar Subhani played the role of Manto. There was another short story of Saadat Hassan Manto dramatized in the same drama series of Kahani Ghar.
Manto Rama
Since 2000 many private Pakistani satellite channels were launched. The first satellite channel Indus Vision also started a drama series based on short stories of Saadata Hussain Manto named Manto Rama in mid 2000’s. Faisal Rehman, Nadia Jameel appeared in few episodes of Manto Rama.
Manto Kahani
PTV in late 2000’s also aired another drama series named Manto Kahani based on various short stories of Manto. it featured Nauman Ejaz, Maria Wasti, Sania Saeed and others in various episodes.
Apart from above mentioned drama series, there are few one episode dramas based on Manto short stories were also aired on Hum TV and TV One.
So it concludes the list of Pakistani films and dramas by Saadat Hassan Manto.
Do share your thoughts about writing of Manto.
Thanks for your time.
Here is the video of famous song ‘Baray Bemurrawat Hain‘ from film Badnaam based on a short story by Manto.
It is very difficult to pick out one scene which you like more than others in the play Sadqay Tumharay because every episode of this play is breathtaking but in every episode there is always one or more scenes that leave the viewers spellbound. This last scene from the first episode of Sadqay Tumhare was beautifully shot and it played an important part in the play. This was when Khalil for the first time realized that he wanted to see Shano. Until this time Khalil was not interested in going to the village let alone meeting Shano. For Shano her engagement with Khalil meant more to her than anything else in the world. Shano’s greatest wish was that Khalil should come to the wedding, for this reason all her friends went to say a prayer for Shano. The scene when the girls are on their way to the Mazar is beautiful, the way it effected Khalil is filmy yet mind blowing and the OST playing in the background just adds to the phenomenal effect it has on the viewers. This is the beginning of Shano and Khalil’s love story and it could not have been shot in a more magnificent way.
See the scene here and share your feelings about it!
Ushna Shah makes good use of her facebook account to get many messages across to her fans and co-stars alike. We have seen her telling people off many times mainly her co-stars through her facebook statuses and now she is tired of fans who keep on approaching her in public. Ushna Shah is constantly reminding people that she is not a very friendly person! There are some who also go far enough to get hold of her phone number and call her probably thinking that Ushna Shah would be like those simple girls which she has been playing on screen. Ushna wants such fans to know that she is nowhere near Rudaba’s character in real life.
Ushna Shah likes her privacy intact, she does not even want people staring at her while she is in public. Here is her latest status update in which she admits that she is a ” cold/rude bi*ch”:
Every actor must feel that they need more space on and off but is this the right way to tackle with the situation? Girls get harassed even if they are not celebrities and they obviously feel the same way as Ushna does but does that mean that you call yourself a bi*ch?
Pakistani dramas especially on PTV always relied on notable Urdu writers like Dr.Enver Sajjad, Bano Qudisa, Ashfaq Ahmed, Fatima Suraiya Bajia, Haseena moin to write new dramas for them. However with the passage of times many of these writers passed away or old age sapped their energy. Also our channels started the unhealthy trend of choosing sub par scripts written by digest writers as well as immature writers who concentrate on themes like Cousin marriage, the accused woman. second marriages, extra-marital affairs, The evil westernized woman and the pious suffering wife who over looks all of her Husband’s misdeeds ( affairs, verbal and psychical abuse)etc. If our industry has to survive it must start adapting the works of our classic Urdu writers.
Here are some of my selections:
1) Des huay pardes: Written by Mustansar Husain Tarar it is a tale of a Pakistani immigrant who unintentionally leaves for England and rises to success all the while longing for his native village. Brilliantly written it also deals with a subject like racism.
2) Dakia aur Jolaha: Another novel by Mustansar Husain Tarar it has multiple story lines but the main story is the unseen romance of a girl from a Feudal environment and a writer twice her age through their letters written to one and another. There is a strong theme of Sufism running through it. It needs a talented cast and director to be aired on Television.
3) Naya Ghar: Written by Intezar Husain it describes the rootlessness of the people who immigrated to Pakistan. It also contains many sly hints to the political turmoil. One fascinating part of the novel is the old family documents in which the protagonist relives his family history.
4) The works of manto: Many of Manto’s stories can be turned into thought-provoking telefilms. I especially liked his short story ‘ Anjam bilkhair’ which describes how a former courtesan is unable to lead a clean life because of the hypocrisy of our society.
5) Works of Qurutulain Hyder: I can’t pinpoint any of them they are all my favorites. Not only can they be serialized but many can be turned into telefilms. I especially recommend ‘ Kohar ke peeche’ and ‘ Agle janam mohe bitya na kijio’
6) Foreign novels: A large number of early PTV serials were adapted from foreign novels. Why not continue this trend. Recently a ‘ God of small things’ was adapted as Talkhiyan. Not only these novels are for adults we can adapt Children’s classics like ‘ A secret garden’. Wouldn’t it be nice to see children once again watching Television at 5-6 PM time slot. Infact why doesn’t PTV take the initiative? We can also adapt the works of Sydney Sheldon, Danielle Steele and many other authors who enjoy a mass popularity and appeal. There is a whole world of possibility. Romantic. mystery, horror, detective, adventure, fantasy so many genres to choose from.
7) The works of Ibn-e-Safi: One of Urdu’s most celebrated authors who ever wrote detective stories his stories are excellent and deserve to appear on small screen.
Any additions to this list would be appreciated. Also please comment and express your views on this subject.
Veet Super Model Contest has been providing a solid platform to many aspiring young actresses and models. Many of the actresses and models we see on television today are a product of this competition. This season was won by the beautiful and vivacious Beenish Khan. Here are the pictures of the ceremony in which she was awarded the crown.
Reema Khan might have been missing from the entertainment scene in Pakistan for a short while but even during her stay In America, Reema Khan decided to work on a project with the support of AAM (America Abroad Media) in 2013. It was a series like no other in which a Pakistani who had just come to America was going to discover the country for the first time. While discovering this new country herself, Reema Khan also introduced many Pakistanis who had never been to the US to the country. Reema started the show by telling her viewers that she could never have imagined that one day she will be living in some other country and not Pakistan. Reema Khan was presented with an award by American Organization AAM in recognition of her work in this series.
Aamir Khan also received an award for his show Satyamev Jayate. Speaking on this occasion Reema Khan said, “For the last couple of years, Indian films are being released in Pakistani theaters, which is wonderful. Now I am expecting the government of India to allow the release of Pakistani films in Indian theaters.”
“Through films, audiences of the two countries can be brought together. They can carry a very strong message. They can understand the traditions, values and cultural system which has developed in Pakistan,” she added
We wish Reema all the best for her future endeavors.
After winning many hearts in Pakistan, Fawad Khan is ready to take Indian film industry by storm as well. Fawad Khan has only been a part of one film In India but Indian viewers have been mesmerized by his performance in drama serial Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Hamsafar. The fan following which Fawad Khan enjoyed in India has been unmatched. Based on his popularity in India a very authentic website “Time Celebex” after conducting a survey has ranked Fawad Khan the fifth best actor in India. The website has made these rankings based on “their popularity, performance and visibility the ‘T Score’ is calculated by measuring various parameters ranging from Box Office performance to PR buzz to Online following and more.”
Fawad Khan comes after big guns like Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Shahrukh Khan, Akhshay Kumar in the list. Many other Indian actors who have worked in many movies are left behind by Fawad Khan. He has clearly made a name for himself in India because of his Charisma and talent. Ali Zafar, who has done more work in India than Fawad Khan but has been ranked at 38th number in the list. Sonam Kapoor who played Fawad Khan’s heroine in his debut Bollywood film Khoobsurat ranked at third place in the females’ list.
Prominent Bollywood producer Arun Rangachari has expressed desire to film on the book of Pakistan’s senior television anchor Mubashir Lucman, associated with ARY News, ARY News reported.
Rangachari said the film will be based on book of Lucman titled ‘Khara Sach – Baba Ji Ke Naam’ detailing account of corrupt practices of a media group in Pakistan.
Talking to ARY News, the Bollywood producer said Mubashir Lucman was very much popular in Pakistan, hence he planned to film on his book.
He believed that his film would gain immense popularity in both – Pakistan and India.
Lucman hosts popular whistle-blowing program ‘Khara Sach’ at Pakistan’s largest News channel ARY News.
Rangachari had recently produced a flick ‘Lunch Box’ featuring Irfan Khan as lead character, which was widely acclaimed.
I am sure you guys will recall a LOT of kid characters in dramas. They make a lot of ’em nowadays. The question is, what are they there for? There are 3 things which they mainly do:
1. Ask idiotic questions: They’ll ask anything (note stupid thing) from their parents and their parents will go “awww…” when we’re banging our heads on the wall and wondering, “Yeh makhlooq kya hai?” Even the kindergartners are so smart nowadays. They give answers smartly. In fact they have a “busy” life with their school and friends. They have their own interests.
I love Hareem and Ashar and this scene was cute as well. But what went wrong is that firstly, Hareem asked the question twice (at the hospital and then at her house). Secondly Hareem was of enough age to understand that she had a father and when you meet your long lost father for the first time, you’ll go hug him and just say “Papa!”. Simple as that!
2. Get their parents back together: Parents are so busy with their marital and extra-marital affairs that they don’t have enough time for their kids. I never understand those parents because they never act their age and instead act like kids_ always arguing and quarreling. The point is, since the parents behave like kids all the time, it’s the kids’ job to mend the relationship.
3. Have no life: Roomi of Shukk was cute and adorable and at the same time, farigh. He was always at school and when at home he was always talking about Ehtesham uncle! Didn’t Ehtesham’s house have a TV or a computer for the poor kid?
These are the things that kids nowadays (in our dramas) are interested in. Dramas for kids have long been forgotten. Let’s remember the super-hit ones:
Wow, I must say I am impressed with this drama & the whole story. Really glad that they’ve selected such a nice subject & have materialized it with perfection. I must say all the actors have done a brilliant job, no matter how big or small their roles are but everyone contributes in making this drama a complete package & for this, the credit also goes to the director for really directing the whole cast so well that they all gave their 100%.
I think the support Fareeda’s getting from her parents teaches a great lesson that no matter what the passion of a child is, parents should always be supportive of their kids. Both Anwar & Zareena have seen that Fareeda isn’t just wasting her time but because of her imagination & a flow of beautifully written words, she is capable of making a life out of it. Especially, I feel that the way Anwar showed his acceptance was heart-warming. Initially he did allow Fareeda to write because he saw that she was getting paid for it but other than that, he did take some time to actually understand his daughter’s intentions & now he feels that it needs to be respected irrespective of the amount she earns, which was very sweet, especially seeing it coming from such a rigid person like Anwar.
I actually felt a lot for both Anwar & Zareena when they had to share their financial limitations with Appa. They seemed so embarrassed & helpless to be admitting it in front of her that they are kind of dependent on the payments that Fareeda gets. It was indeed good to see that Appa understood the circumstances & felt that she should leave it at that without interfering in their personal matters as she got the hint that her nosiness was putting her brother & sister in law in an awkward position. I think this also goes to show that those who can’t help their people with anything shouldn’t also become a burden on them by being a moral police because no one can run things in someone else’s household. Everyone is entitled to lead the life the way they want to & Fareeda was doing all that with her parent’s support, so the say of Appa was totally uncalled for.
I think the way they’ve shown how commercialism has hit the drama industry through this drama is praise worthy. I really liked that they have covered all those factors that are involved in making a drama. There are still those people who take their writings seriously & won’t budge on the quality. There are still such writers who feel that the quality of the dramas has deteriorated but they seem helpless because at this point, everything is measured through the criteria of ratings. I really like that they’ve also introduced a well-reputed writer who is concerned because of the downfall of drama industry & the compromise that’s being done on the quality because the drama-makers don’t really treat dramas as entertainment anymore, but just as means of gaining profits. I think all the conversations on these lines were spot on because we’ve recently seen the influence of Indian dramas in our stories, so to actually show that a writer is concerned about such an issue also sheds a light that the people in the industry themselves are aware of this shameful prevailing trend.
I think Rida Anmol is making amends in the script purposely because then she can easily use it as an excuse to pose as a writer of the drama & she can also tell Fareeda that just because her script wasn’t good enough & she put in a lot of effort herself, she couldn’t give any credit to her. I think Sikandar isn’t as conniving as Rida is. Yes, Sikandar was concerned that just because Fareeda is Rida’s find, no one else should get in contact with her because she has a potential but he also rightly said that Fareeda should be given the amount that she deserves. I think this will also serve as another reason for Rida to conceal Fareeda’s name as a writer & use hers instead so that no one else can approach her.
Ohkay so, who is this Sheheryar Ahmed, I am so interested to know? I think it was a very intricate detail but the way he sent the pen of the same brand that Fareeda once mentioned in her novel rightfully depicted the state of mind of a die-hard fan. Sheheryar is clearly in love with Fareeda’s imagination & going by what she has written in her stories, he finds her compatible. I really can’t wait to see who he is & I hope this remains a secret till his character is revealed so yes, I say that out loud that I ain’t looking for any spoiler alerts here. I really don’t know who the actor is & want to wait till it’s revealed in the drama.
I can’t praise Gohar Rasheed enough for acting out Shaukat so flawlessly. I loved all his scenes & can I just say that I liked his mirror-imaged parrot shirt as well? LOL! It really shows that he is so much into his character but yes, in this episode in particular, I kind of felt for him that even though Fareeda’s way out of his league, he does care for her & wants to make her happy, which to be honest makes him a good person.
So, this is what the whole episode was all about but I must say, as the episodes are progressing, it’s seemingly becoming more genuine & real. I feel I can connect to all the characters & more so, I can relate to them. I really like the timely nok-jhonk that they’ve shown between the sisters because it actually makes them look like a family. The way Shaukat spoke to Najma also showed that he’s one spoiled brat who only knows how to be a centre of attention & he feels he doesn’t have any responsibility towards his sisters. I lol’ed at the way he was like ‘le, kha, mar’, it was hilarious. The way Fareeda is not only enjoying her passion for writing but how she’s becoming more responsible towards her family with their support is also pictured beautifully. The way this family has stayed closely-knit in such hard times, really makes us look forward to the good times that they will get to enjoy because they certainly deserve it. I must say I really like the ‘one thing leads to another’ approach when it comes to Fareeda’s story because everything’s falling into place perfectly & the course of her life is unfolding beautifully.
I think may be because Umera Ahmed has worked on the script, she being modest must’ve edited out her name from the list of well-reputed writers that Fareeda often talks about. I think in this day & age, Umera Ahmed is not just a name but is a part of life of those who read her novels & watch her dramas only because her name is associated with it. I so wish they had included her name in that list too because she deserves it & as a small tribute, I dedicate this disclaimer to her because she’s more than just a writer for her fans like us.
So, that’s it from my side. I thoroughly enjoyed this episode & I am actually enjoying this drama a lot. I really look forward to it every week because it’s just the perfect amount of entertainment that we all were looking for. Share your thoughts on this episode of Digest Writer please. :)
Ohkay so, the cat’s pretty much out of the bag now, we have got all the answers that we were looking for & after finding out what they had in store for us, I am just speechless & to be honest, I am kind of disturbed because of the level of abuse shown in this drama.
Ohkay fine, Bashar grew as a person who had a twisted psychology because he took his father’s last words way too seriously where his father wanted him to become like Zafar as he defeated Momin in his life. Bashar made sure he becomes like him & he worked hard for it. They’ve pretty much shared everything but it just doesn’t seem justified, something doesn’t seem right to me. Bashar can’t love his wife because he compares Rudaba to his mother as he knows Rudaba has loved someone before him, so he has this insecurity that one fine day just like his mother, Rudaba will realize that her love for Buland didn’t die. Bashar has become over protective of his sisters because he lost one, that’s understandable. Bashar doesn’t want a child because he knows that being someone’s child, he himself couldn’t love his mother, so once again he has this complex which leads him to believe that his child will one way or the other start hating him, so yes, now we know everything about who Bashar is, what forced him to become such a ruthless person & what his insecurities, complexes & weaknesses are, but then, does it make sense at all? I mean it does but the strings that were attached to his character have actually damaged his personality & his story considerably.
I think I’d definitely blame the timing & I feel that’s a mistake on the director’s part because if he had revealed all this ages ago, I am sure we would’ve developed some sort of a soft corner for Bashar thinking he went through so much at such a young age but now I feel it’s too late to feel an ounce of sympathy for anyone including Bashar. I’d also blame the writer for giving out a very ridiculous reason that just because Bashar’s mother was in love with someone else, that changed the course of his whole life & his whole mentality. Bashar’s mother clearly looked guilt-stricken & I mean that’s just so obvious, no matter how much she had loved Zafar, she was a mother of not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4, yes that’s right, of 4 kids for God’s sake!
Now at this point in this drama, when I look back, I really think things were dragged a lot unnecessarily & meaninglessly where Buland woke up from deep slumber & wanted Rudaba back, Rudaba gave in a bit as well, Bashar’s sisters kept haunting him, Adil took a substance-less stand, I mean like one thing or the other kept on happening which really assured us that this was all what this drama’s about & now when they’ve revealed everything about the main character, everything about him is cringe-worthy.
Ohkay, let’s forget everything & let’s put everything aside, for once, I really don’t understand how can a writer, being a female herself conceive of such an idea where a female character was abused to such an extent which can’t be described in words, still she develops the feeling of love for her husband? Bashar didn’t do anything to deserve Rudaba’s love. Yes, the only good thing she saw in Bashar was that for 1 day in a year, he doesn’t reject any demand of anyone & that’s the day of his youngest sister’s death anniversary, that’s it. & we actually find out that Rudaba has fallen in love with Bashar seeing how much he loves his dead sister? I mean did she really forget how she was being abused & mistreated by him? For once, I just want to ask the writer that what made her sketch out such a character of a female who has no self-respect whatsoever & who finds repose in exposition to domestic violence.
I am not sure but I think the writer being a female herself really gave a worst shot at etching out all the female characters of this story. We have Saira, who’s negative to the core. We have Tayyaba who kept on crying buckets after getting rejected & the only purpose of her life was to get married to a man by hook or by crook. We have Bashar’s mother, who couldn’t care less about anyone else & mistook herself as a teenager in love which made her nothing but a characterless woman & then finally, we have Rudaba The Great, who gets abused & is treated like a doormat, yet she develops this feeling of love for her beast of a husband, who also drugs her to miscarry. Wah jee wah. I must say the writer, being a female herself, deserves a round of applause & a standing ovation for really demeaning women in her work so excruciatingly. I don’t know why but seems like this drama was written to thrash the dirt on women & that’s it.
I really think all the other characters like Buland, Saira, Tayyaba & Adil didn’t deserve the coverage they got in the beginning of this drama. This story actually had a lot of potential if the characters were changed a bit & the drama wasn’t dragged like this. I really want to know that as they’ve tried to justify that Bashar has had a hard life but what makes Saira so negative? She was young when she lost her parents but then her brother gave her a very good life, she got married to the man she loved & still she rolls her eyes like an owl just when she sees her brother is somewhat having a good time with his wife? I really don’t think her say in any of Rudaba’s matter is required & more so is necessary because she has a life of her own & if not I think she really needs to get one ASAP. The Saira that they showed in flashback was just a normal girl who was capable of laughing & smiling but Saira we see now is this dense & difficult woman who is not even a one bit likable, so yeah, my question remains, what made her like that too? Tayyaba was expressionless, conceited & negative like she is now but Saira’s personality was totally different in the flashback scenes as she seemed cautious & concerned for Bashar but now seems like all that has been thrown out of the window & she has become this manipulative woman, who is so negative that she puts minus to shame.
I think the director really didn’t understand what he was doing himself because ever since the drama began, Bashar hardly got any coverage because the main focus was on spare-parts & now in these 4 episodes, we didn’t get to see if Tayyaba was alive, Saira was still breathing & Adil wasn’t murdered while getting his hair trimmed & oh, once upon a time there was a spineless guy named Buland? Anyone remembers him? I think the viewers have invested a lot of time in this drama & it’s about time that it ends but I am not sure after all that Bashar has done especially poisoning his wife so that she miscarries, there’s any redemption left for his character. I really didn’t know that a drama which was made for entertainment purpose will turn out to be so disturbing & daunting. Share your thoughts please.
Tabbasum and Haider continue to be the stars of the show even though they are not the main protagonists but their characters and the relationship between the two is such that I can’t help but look forward to their track more than any other. Tabbasum has turned a new leaf, she has learned to value Haider because he is the only person who has stood by her through thick and thin. Although, we found out today that Tabbasum blackmailed Haider into getting married to her perhaps because she needed a man in her life after her husband passed away. Uzma Gillani’s brilliant performance coupled by her unique acting style makes her character stand out. Haider is a savior, he did not only save Tabbasum and Paymaan but he has rescued Shams too. Shams has accepted Tabbasum as Maa ji and he wants closure. Imroze may have been right after all, Shams needed to mend his ties with his mother and break free from his past before starting a family. I cannot praise Syed Mazhar Ali’s performance enough, he is an exceptional actor and watching him on screen after such a long time is a pleasure. The entire scene between Tabbasum and Haider was the highlight of the episode for me; Tabbasum’s confessions and apology and the way Haider reacts to it was honest and touching.
I am not sure what to say about Imroze’s character or the entire track, while I find the unpredictable developments in the story intriguing but they are disturbing at the same time. Imroze’s negativity has been shocking for me and I am certain for many other viewers as well. He is convinced that he has AIDS and he got it from Paymaan…I really did not see that coming! The viewers have not been shown much of Paymaan and Imroze’s life together after marriage, whatever we have seen till now goes to show that there is still a strange distance between Imroze and Paymaan even after being married for two months. Imroze does not trust his wife at all, I am guessing that is because he is lonely and insecure. After overhearing Shams say that Roomi loved Paymaan he is fully convinced that Paymaan is the sort of person who would conveniently have an extra marital affair and he is also doubting a person who has been his friend all his life. Since we do not know much about Imroze’s character it is very difficult to relate to his state of mind. The mysterious phone calls suggested that he is avoiding someone close to him but whom?
Roomi is sweet but sometimes I wonder how he manages to find so much time for friends? He has always been there for Sara and Imroze and now he is always there with Paymaan. What does he do for a living? Sometimes I feel like there is too much of him in the play but I guess that is because he has a big role to play in the story. Paymaan’s character seems to be falling flat at the moment. There is no spark in her personality any more, she is so sidhi sadhi but her husband still doubts her! Paymaan had a very strong personality even when she was living with her dictatorial mother but getting married has changed her and I am not sure if I like her this way. She still looks unhappy but we don’t see her complaining much. Paymaan has not yet discovered the marks on Imroze’s body and has no clue what her husband is going through or putting himself through! I really want to find more about Imroze’s background, the curiosity is killing me and not knowing about his past is confusing me too.
Sara’s reaction to Shams’ call was very surprising since in the last episode she wanted to get back with him and when Roomi told her that Shams will get in touch with her she was very happy to hear that. Sara wants a child and unless Shams wants one too she is not going to go back to him. I have never liked Junaid Khan much but he makes me feel for his character in Firaaq. Shams is like a lost child who has finally found his way back home. I hope that this track takes a happy turn because the preview of the next episode gave mixed signals. Tabbasum and Shams both deserve to be happy.
Overall, this was a rather depressing episode! I have no idea what turn the story will take but Imroze’s character is confusing yet intriguing. I am really looking forward to seeing more of Tabbasum, Haider and Shams in the next episode.
For months, we’ve all been waiting for some news on Umera Ahmed’s upcoming projects. The admins of her page have been answering some questions to give us a better idea of what she’s working on. Here’s what I’ve learned so far.
Umera Ahmed’s next projects are a novel, Doar, and her next drama is Master Aur Afsar.
Umera Ahmed won’t be writing for television anymore. Master aur Afsar will be her last drama. Her novel Aks will not be dramatized either.
She has joined 7th Sky Entertainment as the Consulting Editor. They will also be producing her final show.
I’m very happy for Umera Ahmed, but I will miss her shows. There’s still no word on the film she is writing, but I hope to learn more soon. 7th Sky seems to be upping their game and this is a great way to start. I wish her good luck and hope she’s very successful in her new position.
Family is what makes your life complete. In order to keep a family together, some sacrifices have to be made and some struggles need to be done, but in the end what you have is some people who matter the most to you.
Khair, here I won’t bore you with “normal” families. Let’s talk about the crazy ones, who make us laugh with them and we wish that we were part of them.
Azam’s family in Family Front:
This family is the coolest family I have ever seen. The way they messed up and then tried to fix things was relate-able and fun to watch. Bechare Azam ! I felt sorry for him. But they really couldn’t help it could they? Troubles came naturally to them :D
Everyone’s acting was phenomenal. Saba Abdul-Hameed, Anjum Shehzad, Urooj Nasir and Samina Ahmed were totally adorable as a family. FF sends loads of laughter my way no matter how many times I watch it. It was much better than the so called comedies we see nowadays. Absolutely comedy-less!
Aunn’s family in Aunn Zara:
One bechara Aunn in a house full of women. Whether is was the overprotective mom, the tantrum throwing phuppo, the chachior the dadi , everyone’s life revolved around Aunn. The way they cared for him and then his wife was touching and obviously adorable. The discussions, the tantrums and the overall craziness this family had made me love them more and more.
Nabeel’s family from Bulbulay:
Before Bulbulay lost its charm, I loved this family. Maa jee’s forgetfulness, Mehmood Sahab‘s freaking out on every occasion, Nabeel’s laziness and Khoobsurat’s “shut up Nabeel! ” were the unforgettable parts of Bulbulay.
Azar’s family in Azar Ki Ayegi Baraat:
Saima Chauhdry was the jaan of this play. Her dialogues and acting were top-notch. The way she bossed others around was entertaining and not annoying at all. Chauhdry Sahab , Vicky and Dolly messed up one way or another and this led to hilarious situations. Azir was the only one “different” in this family.
Zara and Sanya’s family in Tamhaiyan:
Sanya was the crazy one among the two sisters and her and Qabacha’s scenes were the best ones. Haseena Moin nailed the characters of the play. Moreover, everyone’s acting was realistic and that made me believe that they were real family.
Aangan Terha family:
Bushra Ansari, Shakeel, Salim Nasir, Durdana Butt were ah-mazing throughout! Bushra’s Ansari is part of two of the awesome families on my list. She is no doubt a talented and natural actress.
I am sure you guys will have more names to share. I would love to know about your list of crazy families as well.

Here are the promo and still shots of this upcoming drama
Chalain jee, shuker hai, this episode took me back to the initial couple of episodes where we all were excited & couldn’t wait to explore more. The pace of this episode in particular was really good & the scenes were short which made me enjoy this episode for sure.
I think Jamshed has pretty much understood that he isn’t in Pakistan anymore. Even though he was ready to embrace the change but he obviously didn’t expect that the world won’t revolve around him & no one would pay attention to him like the people back-home used to. I kind of found his transition interesting where he felt he could speak to his Mamu on those lines about his work issues & the things he has faced in America. The one night which he had to spend on his own really gave him the insight that was essential to change his perspective about things, that’s why he could really relate to what Imran Bhatti was going through & which also made him conscious that he couldn’t afford to become a burden on him anymore. Jamshed really was just ready to earn the money but I think this was much needed for him to understand what really happens in America before he had started earning the dollars because then he would’ve never gotten the reality check that he needed to stay on the ground. I think he will evolve a lot more because he knows things won’t be the same & nor would be the phone calls back-home because everything comes with a baggage & may be people have started to expect a lot more from him than he realizes.
I kind of like that Bhatti & Salma at least connect with each other & share this wavelength where they can share what’s going on in their lives. This episode in particular made me kind of look forward to their story because I think they both deserve some sort of happiness & a timeout from the struggle that they both are indulged in. If this means that they can be together, I think it would be justified because for all that they’ve faced, they really deserve a fresh start. Salma deals with a lot in her life & so does Imran Bhatti, so now after going through it all, when they both will come together, they will definitely have a healthy relationship with each other (if that’s meant to be).
I am sorry to say but Michelle & Rizwan’s track didn’t appeal to me at all. Michelle just wanted Rizwan to break the ice & even when he did; it just didn’t make any sense. She got back to being her old self where she just wants him wrapped around her finger without worrying about giving anything back in return & this trait about her character really bothers me. As much as they’ve tried to show that they both connect & are friends but I have a hard time relating to their characters. I think now with him gone, Michelle will definitely get some time off & unwillingly she will keep on stumbling upon Jamshed & that will result in an interesting development but I am more eager to see what Jamshed does instead of Michelle to be honest.
Ohkay, this was really a surprising revelation that Imaan is not a bio-daughter of Salma because the way Salma has been protective of her & the way she has been taking a stand for her really showed that she actually holds Imaan dearer to her like her own daughter but the way her Tai questioned & taunted Salma that too in the presence of Imaan showed that she also knows that Salma is not her real mother. This really makes me look forward to her background & story.
The preview of next episode also seemed interesting & I think like Mehreen Jabbar told us in the previous review that these couple of episodes will really take things forward & I actually see that happening, so I am glad that this drama has finally kick-started. I hope the pace stays the same because we really need that. Next episode will mark the entry of Ali Kazmi & going by the intimidated look on Salma’s face after seeing him really makes me wonder what their story is & oh yes, who was the other guy that showed up right at the end of this episode? I think it’s about time that the new characters are involved & more secrets are revealed. So, I’d definitely say I enjoyed watching this episode because it was quite happening, share your thoughts about this episode of Jackson Heights please.
Former cricketer and test captain Jave Miandad has termed the proposal of filmstar Meera to Imran Khan as a cheap publicity tactic while talking in the program Bolain Kiya Baat Hai on Geo Super.
Javaid said, in our society there is a proper decorum to propose someone, the way Meera expressed her proposal is nothing but a cheap publicity tactic. Though Imran is my friend for past forty years but marriage is his personal issue. Meera should not have openly proposed Imran Khan in front of whole media. Javed further added matters of marriage are quite significant which should not be handled irresponsibily. Marriage is a personal matter of Meera and I am no one to advise meera on this but the way she has behaved is not decent. To earn cheap publicity she presented herself to imran to marry, no it is not the way to proceed. With such childish behavior Meera also tried to defame Imran Khan. If I keep myself in place of Meera, I feel ashamed of myself. If Meera seriously wants to marry Imran than instead of publicizing on media the proposal must be sent gracefully as per general norms of our society.
