Aik Pal_Episode 9: Happening but loopholed

0

There are three different tracks in Aik Pal and all of them are totally different and separate from each other. They will obviously entwine soon but until then we just have to wait_ I don’t know for how long!

Bareera and Omair:

One thing that I find really distracting is the makeup. Bareera’s makeup did not vanish or even get toned down when her father was in the hospital. Her curls showed that she had a lot of time to use the curling iron despite her father’s condition_ the only person in her life and country who is sincere to her. Anyways, her not-so-sincere hubby, Omair left no kasar in his father-in-law’s care. The conversation(s) with his parents showed that he did all of that in order to get into his FIL’s good books, and it worked. Bareera’s father was glad that his damaad has changed!

Untitled

The sudden Nikkah:

Imran was crazy for Shazi that’s why he ran to her house the next morning after he came to the city. I am surprised, how does Imran come barging into and sneaks out of Shazi’s house whenever he wants? When Shazi requested him to help her run away, he agreed. I think, that a person like Imran who has lived in the village environment his entire life, isn’t well-educated and treats women like he treats Noor Fatima, falling for Shazi is unlikely. He could “love” her like a kid loves his toy, and throw her away after he is happy and contented, but a life long commitment like Nikkah isn’t possible, especially when he knows what background she belongs to. That is why I was surprised when he got nikkah-fied to her. Anyways, I am glad that they did not show the whole nikkah scene, because I am tired of watching such scenes again and again. Kya zaroorat hai bhui? But clearly, he had not thought it through. How could he ask Shazi to go back? What if her mother sells her?

The job interview and it’s consequences:

Noor Fatima clearly forgot that she has been engaged to Imran and will be married in a few days. That’s why she was planning on not only doing the job (in the city), hoping to get a house and car from her employer and getting a driver for it! When her brother reminded her about the upcoming disaster of her life, she dizzied. I wouldn’t have sweat it, if it wasn’t for her brother’s second reminder, “Aap ko itne chakkar kyun aate hain?” Does this mean that Noor Fatima will suffer from some disease? I hope not! Plus, I want her to get the job, which seems highly unlikely now.

Screen Captures2

Mus’haf and Rani’s “lesson”:

On the other side, Rani keeps making Mus’haf uncomfortable. She made her father (the chauhdry) call Mus’haf to the haweli to teach her and then opened up her Pandora’s box of feelings for him. “Mujhe shayari sikahayein, hisaab nahi!” Any normal person would run off after this.

Conclusion:

This was a happening episode and let’s see what fate has in store for all of the characters. I am waiting for their lives to entwine once again.

Aik Pal_ Episode 8: The rich taker and the poor giver!

0

The situations cliched and the characters seen before, yet Aik Pal is interesting. When you have a contrast between four characters, the story itself becomes interesting and you don’t have to try too hard to like it. You get engrossed in their lives and there is little margin for boredom. But, there is something that can ruin a perfectly written story. Dragging_wasting more than one scene on one development in the story.

jjkhkihi;

The episode was no doubt dragged. We had Noor Fatima discussing about her interview with her mother, in three separate scenes. Then we saw Shaazi getting ready for the Malik Sahab and getting scolded from her mother in two scenes repeatedly. Imran dropped in with the locket he had promised Shaazi and wasted two to three scenes while planning for it and buying it. Bareera’s MIL’s constant ranting and Omair’s laziness were all repetitive. Dragging makes a good story lose its charm.

jjkhkihi;viui

Bareera had it coming. I don’t feel sorry for her because she has thrown herself into this mess. Her dad, her sister, everyone warned her, but she was head over heels in love with Omair and refused to listen to anybody. Omair’s love was not long lasting, he initially did side with Bareera but his real intentions were to get her father’s business and that is pretty evident now.

Bareera’s visit to her father was the best part of the episode. His concern for her was touching. I really feel for him, especially if he has to give up his business for Omair.

bjwbwbvbjni

Rani has fallen for Mus’haf, like she has fallen for every other guy in the village and it isn’t a good sign for Mus’haf’s future. How will the Chauhdry react when he knows about this? Still it was good to see Mus’haf doing what he loves. He is the poor giver. Someone who is willing to sacrifice everything for the sake of spreading education in his village. He was warned about the Chauhdry by a fellow teacher at school.

Woh (chauhdry) samajh raha thha ke tum kuch dinon mein bhaag jao ge….

Mushaf’s friend Mukarram’s character is very much likeable. His news are the main source of info for the seedhe saadhe Mus’haf. I liked his conversation with Mushaf about why he doesn’t want to go to school.

wi

I am anxiously waiting for Noor Fatima and Mushaf’s meeting and would really dread her and Imran’s marriage. He is in love with Shaazi and he should really leave Noor Fatima alone, but then again, the way Noor Fatima agreed to marry him was plain stupid. The phrase apne paun par kulhari marna is suitable for her. I have a feeling that the malik sahab will punish Imran for insulting him.

Aik Pal_ Episode 6

7th Sky entertainment had disappointed a lot in the past few months, and that is why I was reluctant to give Aik Pal a chance. I was sure that it would be too preachy and full of stereotypes but after watching it, I was proven wrong. Good job Sarwat Nazir, for keeping the balance. Last week, I criticized Bareera’s character for being too OTT and Omair’s for being cliched and the readers mistook my statement for the fact that I did not like Aik Pal as a whole or that I don’t find a balance in it. The fact is that I do enjoy watching Aik Pal but I am a reviewer and my job is to point out the good and bad in the show after watching it.  You can agree or disagree with me and I won’t mind, because I love reading your comments, unless they are not harsh.

The episode was good and a lot happened in it, especially the university scenes. Bareera didn’t forgive Mus’haf for the proposal and indirectly told Omair that Mus’haf is causing problems for their marriage. Poor Mus’haf was beaten by Omair but being the good person he is, he did not tell anyone about who beat him. Bareera smiled when her friends talked to her about the beating and refused to visit Mus’haf in the hospital. The way she immediately decided to abandon her father for Omair was unbelievable too, but I am glad that Mus’haf was there to save the day.

Areej Fatyma’s dressing was marvelous today. The black jacket over the pink printed T-Shirt and jeans looked totally cool on her. Later in the rishte wala scene she looked amazing in the red top and jeans. Her makeup was better than before, thus I enjoyed Bareera’s scenes today. Danish Taimoor was good as always. Him and Areej totally rock as a couple and that is why I loved the way Omair announced his engagement with Bareera and in the after-class scene, put his cap over her head.

I did not feel for Mehreen at all because Maryam Ansari failed to deliver. Her dialogues were too mainstream.

Omair’s parents were, contrary to my previous impression of them, laalchi! They have a lot of money but they shamelessly asked Bareera’s Dad to give them loads of jahez. Bareera did notice their behaviour but she was sure that Omair would be nothing like them. Still under the 50k impression Bareera?

Imran did make an appearance today and this time we saw him with another woman. drinking and enjoying himself. I totally felt for Noor Fatima when she picked up her hand , looked at the engagement ring and appreciated Bareera’s good fortune. However I did not like the way she called Omair “sahab“. Was it necessary?

Overall, the episode was good. I’ll give it 7/10 stars and will be awaiting your comments.

Aik Pal_ Episode 3-5: A love triangle?

0

Ummm…….someone please tell me, this was supposed to be a university based drama right? Or did I expect too much? Is Aik Pal another university based love story among many others?

Episode 3 was all about Noor Fatima (read Noor Fatima ka annoying cousin). Remember the cousin whom I said I wanted to see less of? Well, he got an entire episode all to himself. Despite the fact that Ali Safina is performing well, I can’t understand why directors make sure that the annoying characters get the most screen time. Noor Fatima was forced to accept him as her fiance, as this was the price she had to pay in order to get an admission at her favourite university. Unfair right?

bwu

I admit, Sumbhul has been chosen by the casting directors time and again to play this kind of role, but I like her this time. Her and Affan both are giving performances which they have already given, but their characters are new. Noor Fatima and Mushaf are people who are not only kind and caring, but have a deep desire to complete their education despite the hurdles and that is what I love about them.

Fullscreen capture 12222014 103844 PM

On the other hand, Bareera and Omair are not so pleasant to watch. Bareera is extremely OTT. Does Areej Fatima really need that much make-up? No! So why does Bareera end up looking like this? She is educated and old enough ke makeup karna tou aata hi hoga. Omair is simply farigh. He can have any girl he wants but Bareera is “special”. And the reason, you ask? Because she ignored him!!! I have heard this dialogue in countless dramas and movies and it always gives me a good laugh. Saari dunya ki larkiyan chorr kar wohi larki pasand ayi hai jo ignore kare :P His rishta bhej-ing and Bareera’s father’s inkaar wasted all of episode 5. The only scene worth watching was when Ali Safina told his friend “Shehr mein Noor Fatima ki wajah se thori aata hun, shehr aane ki wajah tou koi aur hi hai…..” I really hope that his father finds out about this wajah and beats him up.

Now now guys, did you think I wasn’t going to praise Danish Taimoor and Areej Fatima? These two have nailed it, especially Danish Taimoor. He has even changed his way of talking to suit the role of Omair. Only if Omair’s character had a little more depth. Areej is giving a good performance as well, but only if her character was a little less OTT.

bjwskj

So between the two un-interesting episodes, the fourth episode of this drama stood high. It was not only interesting, but it had what I wanted, the four youngsters, studying in the same room of the university. From the scene when Mushaf shut up Omair and fataa fat se told the definition which his teacher asked for, to the scene when Noor Fatima walked into the room, introduced herself, walked slowly towards the empty seat behind Bareera and sat down on it, I loved every moment.

There was just one little problem though. The results of a test in a university are never announced this way. They are put up on a soft board for everyone to read.

I love how Mushaf shoots down Numair whenever he tries to pick up a fight. I like the way he never minds when someone teases him about his beard or his shalwar kameez, but what I don’t understand is how he fell for Bareera. She is incredibly badtameez and rude. Was it the kabhi kabhar ka pyar se baat karna which made our Mushaf beqaraar?  I do think that Mushaf is the one who can keep Bareera happy, but it depends on whether or not she wants to be with him. Maybe in the future when she changes herself, then  she’ll realize that accepting Mushaf’s proposal would have brought her a lot of happiness, but for now Bareera has fallen for  Omair.

Untitled

I think that they could’ve shown us in a much better way why Bareera fell for Omair. The RS.50,000 check should’ve had no importance for a girl like Bareera. Magar woh tou aise impress huin ke bas……..Despite all the warnings, she has agreed to marry Omair, who will most probably ruin her life.

bjwbwbvbjni

Aik Pal has characters which I love and characters which I don’t. But it would all have been covered up if there were some student like interactions between them. They are getting involved in a love triangle and I really didn’t want one in this drama. I wanted some students who behave like students and are shown participating in class activities, projects, extra-curricular activities etc. Some sort of friendship between them would have been appreciated. The story would still be interesting, infact more gripping without a love triangle.

Aik Pal_ Episode 2

I thoroughly enjoyed the university scenes in today’s episode. Bareera and Omair’s first interaction was fun to watch . I have seen such conversations before and Arij’s makeup and dressing were OTT in that scene but it still captured my interest. Omair is completely rude and farigh, yet girls swoon over him and he satisfies his ego by treating them like scum. Danish Taimoor has nailed his character and him and Arij Fatima look amazing together.

ed

Musaf and Omair’s scenes were nicely executed. They looked unrealistic though. It’s unlikely for all the university students to unite against one guy just because he has a beard. Musaf has come across as a nice person who minds his own business. He walks away everytime Omair and company mistreats him but I would really like it when he finally speaks up for himself.

Noor Fatima’s cousins (Ali Safina) is the stereotype we see often. I honestly don’t want to see him anymore and let’s hope that Noor Fatima goes to the university in the nest episode so we are spared of her annoying cousin. Ali Safina is performing well though.

Aik Pal_ Episode 19-22

0

These four episodes have been very well-executed, well-directed and well-acted. After 22 weeks, Aik Pal came to end today, and I got to say, what a complete end it was, despite being predictable. All the tracks were handled nicely.

Bareera’s transformation which did not take place overnight was pretty convincing. After being discharged from the hospital, when she visited Noor Fatima’s house for her first class, she had no idea her life was going to change the way it did.

bj

After finding out about the classes, Omair did all he could to stop Bareera because he could not afford her coming back to normal. He told her that “characterless” women like her could never be pious. This did undermine her confidence but Noor Fatima succeeded in bringing her back for the second class.

bj

Areej Fatima looked adorable in those scarves and I loved what Bareera said to Omair when she wore a scarf for the first time and he told her that it did not “suit” her. “Mujhe kisi ne bataya hai ke yeh dress her musalmaan larki par acha lagta hai”.

Gradually, she learned a lot from Noor Fatima, who knew that she would soon leave the world and told that she would “love for Bareera to take her place”. Bareera wasn’t so sure that she could conduct the classes as successfully as Noor Fatima did, but as time passed,  Bareera learned more and more. She also befriended Noor Fatima’s son.

She discussed about her troubled marriage and Noor Fatima told Bareera to win Omair’s heart with her love, because still loved him and this was the only way for her to lead a peaceful life with him. Bareera agreed to this, and she did all she could to win over her husband.

bj

I really thought the jerk was getting more than he deserved, and even after all that when I saw him telling his girlfriend that he thought Bareera had some “secret motives” behind those kind acts, I knew that there was no redemption for that guy.

Bareera also realized that her love for Omair is one-sided and he will never accept this new path she is walking on. She could not afford to go astray again, and when Omair slapped her for not going to the so-called dinner with him, she knew she had to leave him. Noor Fatima suggested the same thing.

Omair went one step ahead. After finding out that the classes took place at Mus’haf’s house, he told Bareera to trap Mus’haf. Jo contract uss ne mujh se cheen lia hai, woh wapas lao. A heart broken Bareera decided to go back o her father’s house.

Omair lost everything. Bareera not only left him, but took control of the business, leaving him broke. Aiza bolted, (unexpectedly fast), thus Omair was left with nothing but his karwee kaseeli batein, and even though he tried to confront Bareera several times, he failed to change her mind. It was great to see him suffer and I am glad the writer didn’t magically make him mad after losing everything!!

bj

Noor Fatima’s health deteriorated  and she was admitted to the hospital. I loved the way Mus’haf cared for her. He was not a cheating husband who was waiting for his wife to die so he could marry some other woman. He was always sincere to his wife. There were some pretty emotional scenes between him , Noor Fatima and their child and it was heart wrenching to see him losing his mother at such a young age.

Mus’haf finally disclosed the reason why he had not told about his real self to Bareera when he had proposed her. He told how his father had seen hard times while living in the village and promised his father (Mus’haf’s grandfather) to come back and help the people of the village. After going to Canada, he forgot all about the promise. Nonetheless, he sent Mus’haf to Pakistan to fulfill it.Mus’haf said that he wanted to be recognised by his personality and good actions, not his money.

bj

The events that unfolded after Noor Fatima’s death were predictable. We all knew that circumstances would unite Mus’haf and Bareera. Both Mus’haf and Noor Fatima’s mothers told him, that Noor Fatima had forced them to get him and Bareera married after she died. He refused to do so because he still loved Noor Fatima but Bareera’s father stepped in at the right moment and the wedding took place. (P.S the fertility report was not fake)

4x23

Aik Pal had a unique storyline and a great cast to begin with. All of the actors played their roles in the best way. However, Noor Fatima and Mus’haf’s characters went into slow motion in a few episodes.

The direction of the show could have been much better. There were so many loopholes throughout the show, which I have mentioned in my previous reviews. There were times when the story made no sense whatsoever, or was stagnant and we had to show a lot of patience to see the next big twist. There were loads of dragged scenes and I could see that the writer was forced to strectch the story.

Overall, the show was entertaining with good messages and it was a good watch (minus a few episodes). ;) What do you guys think?

Aik Pal_ Episode 17 & 18

0

Ban gayi hai anaa ajizi

Noor Fatima’s conversation with Bareera made Bareera realize what she had done to herself. Woh buhat shikasta, buhat bikhri bikhri thhi. Noor Fatima realized her pain as well. Being the good soul she is, she decided to solve Bareera’s problems.

On the breakfast table, Bareera told Omair that she had never realized that Mus’haf, the guy who proposed her at university, would be the owner of such a large group of industries. That’s when Omair got to know that his business rival is the same person he bullied in university life.

Fullscreen capture 3252015 110031 PM

Before I progress further, let me just say than you to the makeup people for not making Bareera a gola ganda anymore. She looks much prettier now than she looked before with loads of makeup on her face.

Finally, Noor Fatima’s mother made a presence as well. She’s going to Germany (I have no idea with whom). She told that back in the village, Imran’s second wife has made his parents’ a living hell and asked Noor Fatima to forgive them.

Fullscreen capture 3252015 110722 PM

Mus’haf’s reaction at finding out about Omair coming to meet him was simply cute. Ya Allah, Kahin mein takabbur ya khud pasandi ka shikar tou nahi horaha? He always makes sure that he isn’t indulging in ignorance. Even after reaching the heights of success, he is tha same Mus’haf. Not overconfident at all.

Fullscreen capture 3252015 111252 PM

Bareera and Mus’haf’s meeting was nicely executed. Mus’haf’s reaction after seeing her was nailed by Affan Waheed and Areej Fatima obviously did well.

Fullscreen capture 3252015 112922 PM

Mus’haf is connected to Bareera, and that is the reason he always ends up saving her. When Farhan tried to molest her and Bareera ran outside, Mus’haf’s arrival was a miracle. The dialogue between them was touching:

Bareera: Mein khabees aurat hun, iss liye mujhe khabees mard mila hai!

Mus’haf: Aagar aap buri hoteen tou Allah aaj aap ko kyun bachata?

After dropping Bareera off at her place,  Mus’haf came back home. On Noor Fatima’s inquiry about where he had been, he didn’t tell her about Bareera. I was surprised. Noor Fatima goes on and on about Bareera. She’s the last person on earth to be jealous and I’m sure she would’ve rejoiced knowing that her hubby saved Bareera.

The next morning, Mus’haf headed to the beach, and sat on a bench, while thinking about Bareera. It was kinda weird, a married man thinking about another woman. I could’ve been infuriated at once, but hasn’t Mus’haf proved himself to be an amazing husband time and again? He has happily fulfilled his responsibilities as a husband and father. Bareera was his first love. Even if he tries, he can’t forget her. Despite that, he has been loyal to Noor Fatima all these years. Don’t get me wrong here, dreaming about another woman is totally wrong, but here, we have a man who isn’t dreaming about another woman to cheat on his wife. Mus’haf saw Bareera after several years, and the feelings came running back. He had no intention of cheating on his wife.

Mus’haf and Omair’s meeting was also well executed.

Omair: Mein Omair Ahmed hun, Salman group of industries ka maalik. Naam tou suna hoga?

Mus’haf: Ji nahi.

Omair: Acha? Koi gumnaam company nahi hai meri. Aur tum tou jaante ho mujhe, bari purani shanasai hai tumhari mujh se bhi, aur … (clears throat) Bareera se bhi.

Fullscreen capture 3252015 115838 PM

Mus’haf’s replies were not less interesting. I loved how he completely shot down Omair by telling him that he only works with honest people and does not involve in partnerships.  Omair stooped low to his real self rather quickly.

Aaj bhi meri biwi ko dekh kar aahein bharte ho?

This time, Mus’haf did not show any patience towards him. He kicked him out.

Meanwhile, Bareera tried to kill herself (because of a fight she had with Omair).

Fullscreen capture 3252015 115256 PM

Her maid saved her by taking her to the hospital on time. Bareera had no desire of staying alive. Omair couldn’t care less. Pagal karke rakh diya hai iss pagal aurat ne mujhe! But for the sake of haazri, he went to the hospital to see her.

Once again, fate intervened. Noor Fatima came to see the doctor, and spotted Bareera’s maid there, who took her to Bareera and Noor Fatima knew in that moment, that she can save Bareera.

Noor Fatima: Agar yeh gunaah tum se sarzad hojata, tou pichle saare gunahon ki taubah karne ka mouqa kho deteen tum.

Bareera: Mein jeena nahi chahti. Nahi chahiye mujhe yeh daulat, yeh shauhar.

Noor Fatima: Meri taraf dekho, mujhe tou zindagi se nafrat nahi hai.

Bareera: Tumhe kyun hogi? Sab kuch hai tumhare paas….

Noor Fatima: Al-Hamdu-Lillah, sab kuch hai mere paas, lekin waqt nahi.

And then we got to know that Noor Fatima is suffering from cancer. She was diagnosed with it after three years of marriage, when her son was 1 years old. She told that after finding this out, she cried and protested, but then she found relief through religion. (Plus now we know why she wears those scarves all the time)

Jab tum theek hojao, tou mere paas ana. Mein tumhe bataun gi ke zindagi mein sukoon aur itmenaan kaise laya jata hai.

When she came back home, Mus’haf was at home waiting for her. She told him about her conversation with Bareera. She said that Bareera wished to be dead, but was saved. On the other hand, Noor Fatima wanted to live, but had no time left. Later, when Mus’haf was shown standing at his office window, thinking about how he could not save his wife, with all of his money, I was convinced that he is still loyal to Noor Fatima.

Aik Pal_ Episode 16

0

After a much happening last episode, I was expecting this one to be better, but it was poorly executed. There were a few developments, but they were already expected.

When a husband tells his wife, that he married her because a certain girl asked him to, acts uncomfortable on her mention, and has a completely formal relationship with his wife, it doesn’t take rocket science to figure out that he was interested in that certain girl, and hasn’t been able to forget her. Magar kya kahein Noor Fatima ke! Either she already knows, or she is a bigger idiot than we think she is. I wish, the director or writer had made her and Mus’haf’s characters’ thoughts easier for us to figure out. We never know what they are thinking. What does any of them want?

Fullscreen capture 3102015 22503 AM

There is a fact about these two characters. They can give me yawns anytime! Omair and even Sharjeel (who is a side character) radiate more energy than these two and Bareera. Mus’haf has been likable as a human being from the start, but not as a character in a TV show. He is too boring for that.

Bareera’s day started with getting up, and deciding that agar Omair khabees hai, tou mein bhi khabees hun!” I knew that her transformation would take time and was glad that they didn’t show her changing overnight. Bareera thinks that there is no way for her to “go back”. She has came so far on the way of ignorance, that even looking back is hard for her. Jesi hun, wesi hi rahun gi is the thought on her mind.

She decided to “drink” her worries away, and then go to dance at a night club, but found herself wondering, “Mujhe khushi kyun nahi mil rahi?” Maybe that’s because she is searching for happiness and peace of mind at the wrong place?

Fullscreen capture 3102015 22722 AM

There was a repetitive doctor’s visit today. The conversation between Bareera and the doctor gave me a deja vu. The whole scene was meant to tell us that Bareera isn’t taking her medicines anymore. Later, when Bareera decided to go to the club, seeing her acting like a normal person, Omair wondered if “she had stopped taking her medicine”. That could mean only one thing, Omair has been making her take meds that would have adverse effects on her health. Evilness personified.

Fullscreen capture 3102015 22444 AM

The dance scene was too long to tolerate. It could have been shorter because it’s purpose was to make Bareera feel that despite the fun she had dancing or drinking, she has no cure for her loneliness.

Omair finally found out the name of the owner of his rival group, and it’s Mus’haf Ameer Ali. Although Omair didn’t recognize the name yet, it will be fun to see the look on his face when he remembers, that it is the same Mus’haf he bullied in college.

The highlight of the episode, was the meeting between Bareera and Noor Fatima arranged by Nadia. Although it is weird for any woman to “thank” another and say aap ki wajah se mere shohar ne mujh se shadi ki, but this is Noor Fatima we’re talking about! However, Areej Fatima nailed the look on Bareera’s face after knowing about Mus’haf’s status and that she is the reason of someone else’s happiness. The disappointed plus surprised look was spot on. But this is not the only time Areej Fatima was great today. The drinking and club scene was well-acted as well. Although, I was surprised when her sequin-covered blouse changed itself! Danish Taimoor’s acting is brilliant as well. He isn’t a boring villian, infact he is better than the hero at keeping interest alive in the show.

What did you guys think of the episode?

Areeba Mohsen

P.S: Guys, I will be doing a combined review of episode 16 and 17 after the 17th episode, because I’ll be busy with exams the next week.

Aik Pal_ Episode 15: The message comes through!

0

Wow! This is the kind of episode that a reviewer likes reviewing. :P I must say, this show is getting a lot better. The message is clear and the story is making a lot more sense than it did a few weeks ago. The writer’s creativity is shining through. Aik Pal, is about students from different backgrounds, studying together, interacting with each other, making some mistakes, achieving some goals, then going in different directions and years later, getting back together and figuring out how much they made use of their lives, and where they were right and wrong.

Before they met, there were a few developments in the story that I would like to discuss. Firstly, Omair’s acceptance that the only reason he stayed with Bareera all these years was her money. He doesn’t have an ounce of love and respect for her in his heart and will never have it. Not only has he made her useless, but doesn’t seem to (ever) realize it. I will love to see him suffer.

Islamabad-pakistan-31922766-422-500

On the other hand, Bareera kept doing to herself what she did in the last episode. This time, she went further ahead and tried to kill herself, but she was saved, and when her friend, Naila, tried to talk some sense into her, she didn’t seem to care.

Sharjeel got to know more about Mus’haf. He had never tried to understand the guy he called “molvi”, and simply used the beard to judge him. But Mus’haf’s kindheartedness forced him to change his opinion. I loved how he remembered the pain he had inflicted upon Mus’haf during the university days, and felt guilty.

B9o2-3nCMAEH-hU

Noor Fatima kept wearing the scarves at home. I really don’t get her. She walks slow, talks slow, turns slow. Basically slow is what she lives on. Shaista and moad-dab guftugo is music to people’s ears, but her tone is robotic! Anyways, in a flashback, it was revealed that when Noor Fatima asked Mus’haf about the reason why he married a lower class girl like her, after trying to gol gol ghumay-ing the question a lot, he answered that it was Bareera who told him to marry her. I have liked Mus’haf all along. Whether it was him ignoring the bullies at the university, ignoring Chauhdry Ashraf in the village or his forgiving nature when it came to Sharjeel. But I do not understand why any man, especially Mus’haf would say this to his wife.

Islamabad-pakistan-31922766-422-500

After this, came the “meeting”, more like aamna samna of our two female leads. Naila invited Bareera to a dars. Unbeknownst to Bareera, the woman giving the dars was Noor Fatima. Bareera slept in that day, and was woken up by Naila’s call who reminded her her promise and forced her to come. Bareera dressed up in a short dress without a dupatta, while Noor Fatima got ready in her regular Shalwar Kameez, with a shawl and covered her head. I liked how they simultaneously showed both of them getting ready but showing Noor Fatima’s car ride was too much.

Bareera arrived before Noor Fatima and didnot notice her when she came in. It was the words of the dars that touched her heart. Noor Fatima recited the verse of Surah Noor, which says that impure men are for impure women, and impure women for impure men. Bareera had committed emotional suicide and had accepted her situation. She might have even considered herself right and Omair wrong, but when she heard the verse, she got to know that she is also responsible for what happened to her. She immediately got up and rushed out. This made Noor Fatima notice her.

B9o2-3nCMAEH-hU

Bareera went to the club where Omair was present with his girlfriend (apparently there is just one club in the whole of Karachi). I really wish her reaction could have been censored. :D However, the uncensored reaction led to Omair dragging Bareera back home.

Overall, it was an enjoyable episode and it gets a 9/10 rating from me. :)

Aik Pal_ Episode 14

Tonight’s episode focused on Bareera and Omair’s strained relationship and Noor Fatima’s social work. There was a new development in the story, which could have been much quicker.

Bareera has closed all doors of happiness on herself. Her life and her are a mess. She not only smokes, in order to relieve stress, but spends her time lying around the house, while her maid takes care of her like a baby. Shukar hai, maid cheater nahi. In most dramas maids are the biggest cheaters in a begum sahiba‘s life! (after their husbands of course) Being an educated person, who used to be full life, Bareera’s character is disappointing me. She didn’t ever submit to anybody, but as soon as Omair handed over the reports in her hands, she believed him, and made her life more pathetic than it was already. Kuch tou karti. Beena was ready to help her, but she refused. I think, the writer has delivered her message here. Bareera has always been away from religion, and never consulted Allah in any matter. When she faced such big problems in her life, she resorted to temporary stress relieving activities like smoking, which will obviously cause more problems for her.

Omair is a big cheater, and if the feeling of doubt we have is right, and he gave Bareera wrong reports so she wouldn’t bother him for starting a family, then he deserves to be divorced by Bareera and never forgiven. His and Bareera’s scenes which showed their strained relationship got a bit repetitive, but I was glad that the pol was kholo-fied. Bareera spotting him with his girlfriend at the club gave me a sigh of relief. But I was surprised when instead of screaming at him, Bareera decided to leave with her friend Farhan, and then got worried that Omair would doubt her character. That’s not like Bareera!

Noor Fatima, on the other hand, is the nicest soul in town, the social worker, religious gathering organizer and to top it all off a great mom and wife. All in one package. All I saw her doing today was talking about; opening a school for poor girls, organizing milad and dars and talking to her kid and husband in super sweet tone.  I get it, she is SUPER nice, but then why didn’t any of her scenes strike a chord? Was it the kid’s bad acting (which I don’t mind because he is very young and cute <3 ) or her monotonous tone? Or the fact that most of her scenes were shot in the living room which I have grown tired of watching? The representation of Noor Fatima_ the nicest person in town could have been much better. When for the fourth or fifth time, I heard the tales of her social work I looked at the television and begged, bas kardo taareefein! I also don’t get why she wears a scarf at home? Bahir jayein tou samajh aata hai but she never goes out either.

Bareera’s friend from university days called her (the same one who met Noor Fatima in the milad) and Bareera invited her home. Omair’s friend (remember his crime partner in the university?) was shown helpless after the loss in his father’s business but when he came to Omair for a job, Omair refused to recognize him. That’s just the type of person Omair is. Mu’shaf was kind enough to grant him a temporary job with a promise of making it permanent if he worked hard.

The episode lacked the punch that the last two episodes had, but was overall interesting. A few details could be toned down a bit, for example Noor Fatima’s tone. Bareera should try to pick herself up now, otherwise the story will become boring. Did anyone notice, that when Bareera goes to meet the doctor, her makeup was light and she looked much better than she looks with loads of makeup!

What did you guys think of the episode?

Aik Pal_ Episode 13: 6 Years Later!

It is really good to see good people being rewarded after hardships. I am glad, that the writer decided to make the good characters happy before the last episodes. Noor Fatima’s problems had been half erased when Shazi entered into the village and declared her marriage to Imran and the other half was erased today.

Mus’haf shared his feelings with his parents, and sent them to the village to ask for her hand in marriage. It took a lot of time and some promises from Mus’haf, to get Noor Fatima to say yes, but to our relief, she did. Another stereotype that was broken in Aik Pal, was of the good-poor guy and bad-rich guy. Many times while watching dramas, I have wondered why only poor people are shown as pure souls? It’s not like every wealthy human being has superiority complex. Mus’haf is a genuinely nice person, who likes to not only help others, but lead a simple life himself.

Omair and Bareera are a boring couple no doubt and Omair is a sick man to the core, but I don’t think Bareera deserves him. Yes, she was  rude and proud girl, and even disappointed her father, but having Omair for a husband and never becoming a mother is way too big a punishment for doing all of that. Omair would have left her if she wasn’t rich!

ak

Imran treated Shazi the same way he always treats women. Of course, Shazi could not tolerate him anymore and contacted her mother once again. Her mother was eager to take her in once again. The “Malik Sahab” who wanted to marry Shazi, helped her escape.

6 years fast forward, and Bareera’s condition has worsened. She is such a mess! Giving the business to Omair has left nothing for her to enjoy. Her days are spent smoking and lying around the house. Omair is now running the business and he is facing competition from MA Group of Industries, which according to his secretary is emerging as a strong contender for them.

Mus’haf and Noor Fatima are leading a happy life. Noor Fatima is seen arranging a Milad in her house. She meets her friend from university days and they both get talking. I really don’t like the idiot Noor Fatima becomes when she starts talking to people her age. At home, she’ll talk with a normal tone and look like a sensible person, but when she is with her university friends, she will act weird. I don’t get the “Aap”. Just like I didn’t get the “Omair Sahab” in one of the previous episodes. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good to talk to everyone with respect, but you can do it without looking weird. While talking to her friend, Noor Fatima asked about Bareera and mentioned a “ehsaan” that Bareera had done on her.

giu

Overall, it was a good episode because it was happening. Last two episodes of Aik Pal have had a good pace and there haven’t been any loopholes. Let’s see what happens in the lives of Bareera, Omair, Mus’haf and Noor Fatima in the future episodes.

Aik Pal_ Episode 12: Twists and turns

0

When I signed in to watch this drama, I wanted to see the story of four people from four different backgrounds who influence each other. Through the previous few episodes, their tracks were stagnant and ALL the other characters got loads of screen time.  Adding to this, the stagnant tracks were all totally separate from each other (Bareera and Omair in the city, Mus’haf in his village and Noor Fatima in her’s). So Aik Pal had turned into a boring show. This episode was better since it was much more happening and the three new twists were relieving.

The first one came after Mus’haf escaped Rani’s defamation because of the call Chauhdry Sahab got, that one of his sons had run away with a girl from another influential family. In a turn of events, the girl’s family captured the son, and demanded bete ke badle beti, as in, they’d only give the son back when Chauhdry gave his daughter in marriage to one of their sons. Chauhdry Ashraf (Adnan Shah Tipu) suggested Rani’s father to agree to this, and hinted that she has already ruined their izzat so her marriage is the best option right now. This served Rani right, and Mus’haf’s faith in Allah redeemed his position in Chauhdry’s eyes.

Screen Captures3

Shazi was restless at Imran’s friend’s house and when she overheard him talking to Imran about his wedding, she sensed something was fishy. Whatever she did to Imran was well deserved. His family now knows how much of a liar he is and they won’t trust him again.

Screen Captures2

This episode was made complete with the meeting I was waiting for. Mus’haf and Noor Fatima’s conversation was relatable. When two university friends meet after a long time, they first discuss their present lives and then share the memories of their academic life. Noor Fatima had remembered Bareera after all these years, as the girl who didn’t interact with her much. Phir bhi ek kashish thhi uss mein. Noor Fatima was a nerd, and Bareera was the popular girl who was admired by everyone, including Noor Fatima. It makes sense why she still remembers Bareera.

Bareera’s life has definitely taken a bad turn. The man she wanted to leave her father for is giving her a hard time. I am glad their track moved forward as well and Omair showed his true colours. Not only is he keeping her away from the business but he is using her to sign his deals!

Screen Captures4

Let’s see of the next episode is as interesting as this one. Now that Mus’haf and Noor Fatima have finally met, will they fall in love? What will Bareera do to save herself from Omair’s schemes?

Do share your opinion. And guys, Kis Se Kahoon review is coming tomorrow In Shaa Allah.

Aik Pal_ Episode 11: The defamation and a lot of dragging!

0

Recent episode of Aik Pal was another drag with one or two twists at the end. As usual, all the scenes were used as stepping stones to reach to the main twists. I have wished countless times, while watching Pakistani serials, why don’t they just bring about the twist at the start, without adding all the dragged scenes? What is the use of dragging? Aik Pal team will squeeze every ounce of interest from the viewers minds with it and a lot of damage has already been done. Is this the same drama I appreciated in he initial episodes?

Omair and Bareera’s track is useless at the moment. Omair, take your father-in-law’s business and be done with it. Then the story can move forward and I can get rid of the yawns your and Bareera’s track gives me. Bareera is oblivious to Omair’s devious eyes. That cunning look he gives her while sipping coffee or watching television shouldn’t be so hard to notice. Right? Beena also made an appearance today but the discussion between the two sisters on the phone was not anything special. All this family discusses is the business.

Screen Captures3

Imran finally revealed the reason he is marrying Noor Fatima. Ta da! Inko badla lena hai…..

What badla? You take a badla from someone who has done something to you. All Noor Fatima did was try to be confident. Imran has little sense of what he wants to do. His friend is the only person in his life who has an ounce of intelligence in him. I know his “plan” is not much beneficial to Noor Fatima, but if he convinces Imran to let her work in the city, her life could be better than it would be in the village. She will at least be able to follow her dreams. However, most of the trouble she is in right now, has been caused by herself, or as her mother puts it, her jaldbazi. I don’t know how many times Sumbhul Iqbal has played the roti dulhan but she looked really pretty in her mayun dress.

Screen Captures2

Shazi continued her same dialogues, and so did her mother. While her mother was busy in grabbing Malik’s money, she was busy calling Imran for help. Just like the previous episode. This time, when her mother made the decision to get her married to Malik, Shazi had to escape and she went straight to Imran’s village. How did she arrive? If by bus then how did she know what bus to take? The plan she used to escape was the most illogical. Am I supposed to believe her mother left her alone in the house, with the friendly servant in? Had she no idea Shazi could behla phusla ke take his help to escape?

Screen Captures4

Chauhdry Ashraf spent so many scenes warning Rani about Mus’haf’s future that I doubted if he had a memory at all. In three to four scenes, he came barging into her room and said the same words, mein master ke sath buhat bura karun ga, one way or the other. Dragging has a limit people! All those scenes had no substance because obviously, they were fillers.

Mus’haf has been beaten two times. Once by Omair and the second time by Ashraf’s men. He is suffering more than Noor Fatima and Bareera both at the moment. Rani forced him through her father to come back to her house to teach her and once again proclaimed her love for him. As the promo of this episode already revealed what came after, the whole defamation scene was no surprise at all!

Screen Captures5

Little about Aik Pal makes sense right now. The whole episode passes and nothing happens. I have little hope for the pace getting better in future episodes as well. Right now, it’s simply boring.

What is your opinion?

Aik Pal Episode 1: A good start!

0

Aik Pal is the latest offering by Hum TV. It has replaced Mere Mehrbaan on Monday nights and belongs to the same production house as the latter. MM failed to impress because of cliched topic.

Judging from the promos, Aik Pal looked like a drama that would give the viewers food for thought and a really good lesson. This anticipated the viewers and the drama crossed over 200,000 fans on facebook a day before the first episode.

The drama shows a contrast between the lives of two girls, Bareera (Arij Fatyma)and Noor Fatima (Sumbhul Iqbal) .  Noor Fatima is the poor village girl who is dependent on her taaya for her education and he isn’t allowing her to study. Plus he has captured her father’s land, which could have been her financial help. Her views on money are, “Wealth ka matlab, dunya ki sab se taaqat-war cheez, jis se ham ilm bhi khareed sakte hain.”

garr 5

On the other hand,  Bareera has everything in life. Money, good looks and people who love her. Her intro as a modern, care free and adventurous girl was prolonged and unconvincing.  Why would two ladies walking out of a shopping mall have mercy on a girl (Bareera) who is acting like a  beggar when she doesn’t even look like one?

drama na

Plus it was surprising to see a well off girl like Bareera acting so weird. The way she gobbled up the burger was like she hadn’t eaten for days. Khair, she will pay for this later as was evident from the last scene of the episode. Oops!

fahad

What goes wrong with these lesson-based dramas is a)they are too preachy and b) too cliched. Up till now, Aik Pal isn’t any of the either. We have cliched characters but there is a limit to the cliches. Bareera’s family consists of a caring and a mature religious sister (Beena) and a loving father who believes in giving his daughter some space. Compared to the regular disappointed fathers and the annoying  sisters, these two are a treat to watch.

The next character is Musaf Ameer Ali (Affan Waheed) who is a simple, kind and caring person. He belongs to a village and believes that doing anything good for his village folk does not count as a favour. He has set up a school for the kids of his village.

faysal

Bechara Mushaf! He has to live in the same hostel room as Umair (Danish Taimoor) who is a rich, carefree playboy and hates his parents. This is why he stays at the hostel away from his parents. He is well prepared for his roommate and when he catches Musaf sleeping in his room, he throws water at the poor guy. Jo meri territory mein ayega, uske sath yahi hoga!

garr maan.jpg 2

To his surprise, Musaf walks away without a fight and doesn’t even bring this up until the next morning when Umair greets him. Musaf’s reply to Umair’s “Good morning” was “Assalam-o-Alaikum” and that scene brought a smile to my face.

Things work in Noor Fatima’s favour for now and taaya ji decides to let her go to the city for MBA. Kama kar apni maa aur bhai ko sambhale gi, yahan rahi tou zameenon ka hisaab maang le gi. Noor’s taaya ka beta (Ali Safina) is interested in her and is the main obstacle in her path right now.

Overall, I enjoyed watching the drama. This is a good start for a play I wasn’t expecting a lot from. The characters are well-etched and the pace is perfect. Hopefully it will stay the same. The writer Sarwat Nazeer and director Siraj-ul-Haq have  done a wonderful job. It will be interesting to see these four youngsters enroll in the same university. Let’s see what happens from now on.

Aik Pal _ Episode 7: On Their Separate Ways!

0

A university is a place where lots of people, from different backgrounds mix together. They have different ways of thinking and different outlooks on life. These people study together and mingle. Then at last it’s time to go on their separate ways, and that’s what happened today in Aik Pal.

Mus’haf went back to his village and Noor Fatima to her’s. Bareera’s hatred for Mus’haf remained. Tum aao shadi par….tumhein pata chale ga mere jesi larki ko purpose karne ka kya anjam hota hai…It is really unconvincing why Bareera hates him that much. She is a beautiful girl and she knows that. It’s not like Mus’haf was the first guy to propose her?

bjwbwbvbjni

But let’s leave that, and come to the wedding of Omair and Bareera. I thought Bareera could afford the best dress in the market but her dress was totally disappointing and old-fashioned. I love the colour purple but even that could not make me like the dress. Added to this, the jewelry and makeup were totally weird.

wi

Omair had told Bareera in the previous episode that he would not live in his parents house. Then why was he happily living at their house after the wedding? A directional loophole maybe.

Anyways, as expected, Omair’s parents showed their aukat after the wedding and began their demands but I am glad Omair took Bareera’s side. Till now, he is not as bad a husband  I had thought he would be. I liked it when he shot down his parents’ attempts at grabbing Bareera’s money. But with his father’s business going down and his mother’s parlor their only source of income, I am sure Omair would be forced to look for a job and he has already stated that he can not do it. That will lead to trouble.

enl3

Mus’haf on the other hand was happy doing what he loves, i.e, teaching kids in his school. We were introduced to a new character, Rani, portrayed by Haya Khan. She is the chauhdry’s carefree daughter and has developed a liking for him.

Screen Captures1

One of Noor Fatima’s university friends sent a rishta to her house. Noor Fatima asked for some time from her taayi before the wedding and she threw a tantrum about it. Not to mention, the namak mirch she put in before telling this to Imran. He ran to Noor Fatima’s house and defamed her. Apne university ke dost se shadi karogi! Whatever happened after this was highly unconvincing. In order to prove herself right, she decided to get married to him immediately! Sounds crazy right?

The happenings of today’s episode were interesting but some of them were totally unconvincing and I wish the director would have paid more attention to them. What do you guys think?

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 9 – New Realizations

0

A lot of development was seen in the story in this episode. It was like someone just pushed the fast forward button from a slow motion mode. Meesha has finally realized what a fool she was to run after Mayer who did not take much interest in her. He played with her feelings and used her to make Zaini jealous. Meesha was too innocent to understand what was going on but Roman was clever enough to identify this oldest trick in the book; to get someone’s attention by showing interest in someone else. In this case, Mayer was trying to gain Zaini’s attention by taking interest in Meesha in front of her. Meesha has finally realized that there is no use running after someone and degrading oneself in the process. Roman was seen giving her a shoulder to cry. This was the cutest scene of the episode. Meesha is slowly realizing what Roman means in her life, how he has been there for her through thick and thin and helped her every time without asking for anything in return. She hates it when he talks to Ammie, or when Meher mentions Ammie and Roman’s marriage.

Roman was also seen trying to show Meesha that what she feels for Mayer is not love. When you love somebody, you get sad when you see them with someone else. Meesha has always been jealous or angry to see Zaini with Mayer, but never has been truly sad. But Roman’s theory did prove to be right as we did see Meesha getting very sad when Meher mentioned Ammie and Roman marriage.

I absolutely loved the flashbacks Meesha and Roman, both had of each other. It took her some time but she has finally realized who her true prince charming is. As Dado said, when you love somebody, you can share anything with them without any hesitation; they are the ones who give you the shoulder to cry on. It is easy to share all your worries and sorrows with them. This is when Meesha remembers Roman and how he has always been there for her to fix things when she is in trouble. He is the one who consoles her in her sorrows and helps to sort out her worries. Her attraction and likeness for Mayer was just a phase and would pass over time. Meesha, however, is still in the denial phase. She still thinks Roman is not a normal human being but a fairy man! How extremely naive of Meesha to still think this. The scene where Meesha gets jealous when Roman is talking to Ammie was a treat to watch. She did not like the fact that he was giving someone else attention other than her. Meesha is slowly developing feelings for him but will she ever accept these feelings and come out of her denial phase?

Meesha always had one dream; to marry a good looking, rich guy. When she wanted Mayer in her life, it was because he was the means to fulfill her dream. She was actually running after her dream which shattered when she came back to reality and this is what saddened her the most.

Zaini has proved to be a brilliant actress. She was able to win over Bano by faking some emotional dialogues which impressed Bano completely and she forgave her. Bano also agreed to get Mayer and Zaini married. Zaini and Meher are excited as for them it is like they had won a jackpot. They left no chance to insult Meesha and make her aware of her true place. I truly felt bad for her in these scenes.

Mayer may be smitten by Zaini but he cannot help but compare both of them. One is kind, loving, with a pure heart. She respects the poor and treats them well. The other is selfish, self centered and who has no respect for poor people and leaves no chance to ill treat them.

Okay, so my prediction was right. The man sent by Shah Baba is supposed to be paired with Ammie. Their scene was extremely cute! I hope Ammie also finds her prince charming in him. Although he is under the impression that Ammie is the girl he is looking for, when it is really Meesha that he is searching for. One more scene worth mentioning is that nightmare that Meesha sees all the time. Previously, it was never clear but now she finally saw the whole dream. The person she is running away from and who means her harm is none other than Mayer and her savior is Roman. Is this not enough to open her eyes?

The pre cap for the episode seems promising. Zaini has finally confessed that she is not Mayer’s ‘mystery girl’, but it is actually Meesha. Somewhere deep down Mayer always knew that Meesha was the girl he had met, but he was not ready to accept it. He has finally proposed to Meesha. Will Meesha accept the proposal? Or will she stay with Roman whom she truly loves? Dado is also aware of Roman’s feelings for Meesha and advices him to tell her. Will he finally confess? Or will it be too late? I am eagerly looking forward to the next episode.

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 18 – Roman is back!

The show is nearing towards its end now. We saw the second last episode this week. We got to see a lot of different genres in this one show; first we saw comedy and romance then the show turned a little serious and we saw sorrow and gloominess and now it has turned into a thriller with lots of suspense to keep the viewers hooked. Every week we see something new which manages to shock us. This week we saw what a weak character Mayer is. At first, I thought he acted the way he did because he was rich and spoiled. But now we got to see a side of him which was very shocking. Mayer gets trapped when he overhears Shah Baba revealing his true intentions of getting Meesha married to Farjad. He now knows Meesha has no relation with Shah Baba and he brought her to Shahabad to trap her. Now Mayer wants Meesha to get married to Farjad so that he can go home safely. The way he was pleading with Shah Baba to let him go was just pathetic. He just does not care about Meesha and what Shah Baba would do to her. He is not even trying to help her and instead he is following all the orders given by Shah Baba. How pathetic! Mayer is the biggest disappointment in this show for me.

Roman has finally arrived to save Meesha from Shah Baba’s clutches. He pretended to be a close friend of Farjad and managed to convince Shah Baba that he knows where Farjad is and he can help him to bring Farjad back. The scene where Roman convinces Shah Baba that he knows where Farjad is hiding cracked me up big time! Roman is the true savior of Meesha. I also liked the scene when Meesha is crying and Roman comes and gives her his shoulder to cry on. Meesha soon realizes that she is supposed to be angry at him and becomes rude to him again and tells him that she does not need him anymore. It was obvious that she is tired of being angry at him now. She only starts listening to him when he says that her Dado has sent him.

Roman finally reveals the truth and tells Meesha about her parents and how Shah Baba killed them. The whole episode was based on how Meesha slowly starts to realize that all is not what it seems like. There is something fishy and upon investigating she gets clues in the form of a prisoner who used to be her caretaker when she was a kid. The past few episodes were full of suspense. It felt like I was watching a mystery show and all the mysteries were slowly being uncovered one by one.

The preview for the next episode seems very scary. Shah Baba is desperate to get his son married to Meesha and since Roman lied to him and he does not see Farjad coming back home anytime soon, he decides to get married to Meesha himself! I really did not expect anything like this. I have full faith in Roman and I know he will save Meesha from Shah Baba’s evil plans. But it would be interesting to watch how he does it!

Haissam Hussain has done a wonderful job and has made this show a masterpiece. All the beautiful locations and costumes never cease to amaze me. The scenic beauty, the mountains and the greenery are a treat for the eye. Maya Ali and Faizan Khwaja were the stars of this episode. I am really looking forward to its last episode. We can expect a lot of drama and suspense in the last episode.

Do not miss the last episode guys!

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 17 – Pretty Slow!

0

It is about time this show ends! It has been dragging for the past few weeks and has completely lost its charm. I fail to understand how Meesha can trust a stranger and go along with him! I liked the show because of its light heartiness and a refreshing concept, but the introduction of the villain Shah Baba has made the story more dramatic. It looks more like a suspense thriller now!

Meesha and Mayer scenes were hilarious! Mayer’s character is the most disappointing character in the show. Wasn’t he supposed to be the Prince Charming? Instead he has turned out be a rich, spoiled brat who complains about everything and instead of taking care of Meesha when they were stuck at the station, he expected Meesha to look after him. He expected Meesha to sort out all the problems as he was too fragile to do anything. Meesha is also in no mood to forgive him for the way he treated her and finally takes her revenge by giving him a tight slap! Her attitude towards him is cold and she leaves no opportunity to taunt him. Way to go Meesha! It was the best scene of the episode for me! Maya Ali has done a very god job and Osman Khalid Butt’s expressions were extremely comical!

Farjad finally got the guts to free Aimee and the duo were seeing running in the forest. Aimee kept on complaining that she was hungry and her wonderful hairstyle made me stare at her with a look of fascination in my eyes. I cannot believe someone can carry such a hairstyle… I mean hair disaster so well! Why is Aimee so cute? Warda Butt has become one of my favorite comedy actors who can never fail to make you laugh. She has also given a brilliant performance in her other show, Ghaoo where she has played the role of a girl who is mentally challenged. She does not seem like a new comer from any angle as she seems so comfortable in front of the camera.

According to Mayer ‘Meesha has changed’. He does not like the change in Meesha as he does not give him importance anymore. He thinks that she has become proud after getting to know that she belongs to a rich family and now does not consider him worthy of herself. You were not worthy of Meesha before either Mayer! Someone like Zaini is the perfect match for you. I hope they get back together and live Happily Never After! Shah Baba has also started playing his games and is trying to convince Meesha to leave Mayer as he is not worthy of her anymore. I hope Meesha leaves Mayer soon!

Roman has come to Meesha’s’ rescue! After hearing everything from Dado, he goes after Meesha to save her from Shah Baba’s evil plans. Roman also helps Aimee and Farjad when they were running from Shah Baba. He helps them by telling them a place to hide. Roman has become the savior of so many people. I hope Meesha finally sees what a wonderful person he is!

The preview for the next episode seems interesting. Roman finally manages to get into Shah Baba’s house. I am waiting for next week now! I hope we get to see a fast paced episode next week and the show is not dragged for more than one or two more episodes. It will be interesting to watch how Roman saves Meesha from Shah Baba.
Keep watching the show!

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 16 – In Wrong Hands

0

Phew! It’s about time they revealed all the secrets. The show is dragging too much now. Finally all the secrets are out in the open. We already knew about Meesha’s parents from the previous episodes. Her father was a healer who went against Shah Baba and was murdered by him. Now we know how Saifullah came into the picture. Saifullah knew Meesha’s father and had offered him to take her to the city with him. After his death, he somehow managed to take her away from Shah Baba who wanted Meesha to marry his son, Farjad. Interesting! I never could have thought the background story would be like this. Faiza Iftikhar has come up with a brilliant story and these additional parts have made the story even more interesting.

We saw Shah Baba finally coming to Mayer’s house to take Meesha with him. He convinced everyone of his web of lies that he is related to Meesha and wants to give her her share of inheritance. Meesha was at first reluctant to go with him but Mayer was able to convince her as he told her that if she goes, no one would be able to point fingers at her family background. This made Meesha agree but she still sought Dado’s permission but thanks to Zaini, she could not even meet Dado. Meesha is in serious trouble now as Shah Baba will force her to marry Farjad and the hoity toity Mayer would not be able to save her. Mayer already smells something is fishy about Shah Baba. Personally, I have started to seriously dislike his character. First, he raised his hand at Meesha and now we got to see the spoiled brat side of him. He expects Meesha to simply forget about the slap after his so called apology by which he managed to make Meesha even more upset. Well Mayer, Meesha does not forgive anyone so easily! She wants to give him the same treatment that he gave her. Way to go Meesha!

Roman will surely be Meesha’s savior. Dado has revealed everything to him and now he is the last hope to save Meesha from the evil clutches of Shah Baba! I hope he reaches in time to save Meesha. Bano’s attitude towards Meesha has completely changed after she got to know Meesha’s family background. Previously, Meesha did not meet her standards and she could not digest her son marrying a girl like her. But now it is enough for her to know that Meesha belongs to a rich family to change her opinion. Now according to her “Mayer and Meesha are soul mates”. How pathetic!

The person who was the most shocked by this news was Meher. She could not digest the fact that Meesha could belong to such a rich family. She now regrets all the words she had said to Saifullah, and blames Dado for not telling them about this before. Thanks to Zaini’s carelessness, Dado is in a very bad state. She made Roman promise that he would take care of Meesha and bring her back safely.

Roman finally raised his voice and told a big ‘NO’ to Surraiya. He clearly told her that he would never marry her. It’s about time he stopped being black mailed by her. She finally kicked him out of her house and he is now free to go wherever he wants. Another scene worth mentioning is of Aimee and Farjads’. Farjad finally gathered the guts to release Aimee from the prison. Warda Butt once again gave a brilliant performance. She is very talented and has the potential to go very far.

The show has revealed its climax now the ending is near and you wouldn’t want to miss a single episode! How will Roman save Meesha from Shah Baba now? I can’t wait for the next episode!

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 15 – A New Side!

This episode was too much of a drag. Some scenes were not needed at all like all the Zaini scenes and the gardener scene. Not much happened overall in the episode. Zaini is back in Mayer’s life and is trying to create problems between Mayer and Meesha. Mayer is constantly being told that he is in full control of Meesha and would do anything that she says. We saw him getting extremely angry when he heard the same words from Meesha herself. This is the reason why his bubble completely burst when Meesha argued with Bano and he went and slapped her. I was very shocked to see this side of Mayer! He was guilty afterwards and even though Bano told him he did not do anything wrong, he was still very upset.

Bano is still trying to make Meesha’s life miserable by making rules for every second of her day. Bano is finding it impossible to change Meesha. Meesha is still seen socializing with the servants and she even came in a disheveled state in front of Bano’s guest and this embarrassed Bano. She even rejected Meesha’s dream wedding dress. She had always thought that she would wear the dress on her wedding and Bano brutally rejected it and called it a cheap dress. She also did not like the fact that Meesha bargained for the price since it is against her standards. It was the first time Meesha got really upset and she ended up having a fight with Mayer. She actually called him a Mama’s boy. The look on Mayer’s face was hilarious! I couldn’t help but laugh at this scene! Zaini and Meher were seen gloating about the fact that Mayer slapped Meesha. How pathetic!

There was still no progress seen in Roman and Meesha’s relationship. Meesha is still under the impression that Roman has played with her feelings. Roman was happy to see that her behavior with the rest of the people has not changed. She is still the care free, loving, and caring Meesha. Roman noticed that only her attitude with him has changed but he cannot figure out the reason. We also saw a lighthearted scene when Roman and Meesha go for shopping and the shopkeeper thinks they both are the couple! I doubt Meesha will ever change despite Bano’s attempt to change her. Meher was once again seen filing Bano’s ears against Meesha and according to her Meesha has been spoiled by her Dado. Really Meher! Please have a close look at Zaini.

I feel really bad for Aimee who is trapped in a prison by Shah Baba. Poor girl kept on screaming but to no avail. Farjad saw her disheveled state and went back to plead with Shah Baba but he is not ready to release Aimee. Shah Baba has a new plan now! He has decided to go and get Meesha himself and he has every intention of getting her married to Farjad. Farjad did tell him about Meesha’s upcoming wedding but Shah Baba has full intention to get her back at any cost. Qavi Khan is doing a great job as Shah Baba. The negative role is suiting him a lot. Another character I felt bad for is Dado. Zaini is so care less and selfish! She actually forgot to bring Dado’s medicine due to which Dado’s health deteriorated.

The preview for the next episode seems more interesting. Shah Baba has reached Mayer’s house to take Meesha with him. Will Meesha go with him and get trapped? She is clearly not happy with the marriage as she doesn’t want to live with restrictions. She has already lived with restrictions most of her life, thanks to Meher. I hope Roman and Meesha’s misunderstanding clears soon.

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 14 – Secrets Revealed!

Finally the secrets have been revealed. I have been waiting for a long time to find out who is Meesha, where had she come from and how is she related to Shah Baba. All the questions were answered in the episode. Meesha is the daughter of Shah Baba’s enemy Sikander and she became a prisoner of Shah Baba after her parents died. She was a lucky charm for Shah Baba’s family and that is why he decided to get his son married to her. But some turn of events led Meesha to escape and she landed up with Saifullah. I was not expecting such a twist at all. It came as a huge surprise to me. Now the only question that needs to be answered is that where does Saifullah fit into all this? How did he know Meesha? Only Dado has the answer to these questions. I hope these questions also get answered soon.

I was relieved to see that Aimee is finally beginning to question things around her as she thinks something is fishy. Shah Baba finally found out the truth about Aimee that she is not Meesha and has in fact, proved unlucky for his family. One bad news after the other came since Aimee had come to live with them. Farjad tries to defend Aimee and tries to save her from Shah Baba’s wrath but all in vain as Shah Baba is not ready to listen to him. I felt really bad for Aimee in this episode. Her naiveté led her into this problem. I hope Farjad is able to help her and she gets released soon.

Meher is still playing her games. She tells Meesha to do the exact opposite of what Bano wants and then fills Bano’s ears against Meesha. She is trying her best to destroy Meesha’s image further in Bano’s eyes. Bano is also completely disappointed with Meesha and is disgusted by Meesha’s manners and ways. She is trying her best to teach Meesha but it seems like an impossible task to change Meesha’s ways. As i said before “It is not easy to tame a lioness”. We saw a few lighthearted scenes in this episode when Meesha makes blunders in front of Bano. Meesha’s character can make you laugh even when she is not trying!

Meher is able to sense that Meesha is not happy and even Mayer asks her that why is she so indifferent to him. Both the time she makes lame excuses to convince both of them. But each time she tries to convince them, the more unconvincing her words seems to be, it is clear that she is still in love with Roman.

The most heart breaking scene of the episode was when Meesha started degrading Roman in front of Mayer when Mayer told her that Roman was the new wedding planner. Her behavior with Roman was beyond rude, and even Roman was unable to understand the reason behind her hate for him. He is extremely hurt by her crude words. She keeps on taunting him time and time again, and Roman listens quietly without uttering a word. Meesha’s words haunt him and he keeps on wondering the reason behind her rude behavior. I could not help but feel bad for him.

Zaini and Mayer became friends again. An interesting turn of event, and it came as a shock to me when Mayer accepted her offer for friendship. Osman Khalid Butt really needs to work on his expressions. It is hard to tell what he is feeling as he usually has the same expression on his face. But overall he is not doing a bad job; you can overlook a few things since it is his first show. Maya Ali leaves one impressed as always and Faizan Khwaja’s eyes speak volumes even when he has no dialogue, one can easily tell what he is feeling. Its a quality which only experienced actors possess!

The preview for the next episode seems pretty shocking. Meesha is seen accusing Bano and Mayer slaps her! Mayer seems extremely angry with her. It will be an interesting episode to watch for sure.

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 13 – Schemes and Secrets

At last we saw the story moving ahead. A lot of development was seen in this episode. Meher has started scheming again and she has managed to convince both Dado and Meesha that she has changed and wants to repent for her behavior. Meher suddenly has a ‘change of heart’ when Meesha consoles her when she was crying over Aimee. She manages to persuade Dado to allow her and Meesha to go and stay at Bano’s house for a month and fulfill Banos’ condition. But she has an ulterior motive behind this as she wants to ruin things for Meesha and make Bano realize that she cannot change or mold Meesha according to her standards and criteria for a daughter in law. Bano is also seen unhappy that Dado has agreed to the condition. She can barely tolerate Meesha but has agreed to give Meesha a chance for Mayers’ sake but she has sworn to make things difficult to Meesha. Mayer, on the other hand is seen happy and excited at his and Meesha’s upcoming wedding.
I could not judge Meesha’s sentiments in this episode. It was hard to determine whether she was happy at her dream finally coming true, or sad at losing Roman. It is important at this point for Meesha to talk to Roman and clear things between them. One thing I am extremely surprised about is Roman’s decision to marry Surraiya. Surraiya has finally managed to convince Roman to marry her through her blackmail. Poor Roman has agreed so that Meesha’s life would not get ruined. The scheming and foul woman has told everybody about her upcoming marriage to Roman. Meesha also got to hear it from Meher and it came as a huge shock to her. Roman’s image has further been reduced in Meesha’s eyes. What an ironic situation! I do not know whether to laugh at the irony or be sad at Roman’s situation. Roman has managed to get a job at Bano’s house as Mayer and Meesha’s wedding planner! I cannot help but feel pity for Roman.
Aimee and Farjad were the stars of this episode. The look extremely cute together and their scenes are always lighthearted and enjoyable. Warda Butt and Mukarram Kaleem have done a great job. Farjad has finally brought Aimee to his house. Aimee was shocked to see the huge mansion and could not help but think that she has finally managed to find her prince charming in Farjad. Shah Baba gave a very warm welcome to Aimee as he thinks that she is Meesha. We also got more insight as to why Shah Baba was so desperate to find Meesha all those years. Meesha is supposedly considered lucky for his family and he wants his son to get married to her. The surprising twist that we got to know is that Farjad and Meesha were about to get married in their childhood but it could not happen due to some turn of events. I am curious to know what really happened and how did Saifullah come in the picture? But the main question is what will happen once Shah Baba gets to know that Aimee is not the girl he has been looking for? Will Farjad leave Aimee or will he marry her against Shah Baba’s wishes?
The most hilarious scene of the episode was when Zaini was left to care for Dado. Zaini, who had not lifted a finger all her life, was seen taking care of her granny and is completely at her granny’s beck and call. It was one of the best scenes of the episode for me.
Bano has also started to place restrictions on the free spirited Meesha. She is attempting to tame a lioness but will it be possible? Meesha has had a very simple upbringing. Will she able to fulfill Bano’s criteria for a daughter in law? The preview for the next epsiode did not look convincing. Meesha faces Bano’s displeasure at whatever she attempts to do. Will Meher makes the situation worse for her? What is the secret of Meesha’s childhood that only two people know so far; Saifullah and Dado? Don’t forget to watch Aik Nayee Cinderella next week to find out!

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 12 – Surprising Twists

This week’s episode had shocking twists and turns. I did not expect all these events to occur and they came as a huge surprise. The change in Meesha’s behavior is astonishing. Previously, she was always compliant to her Dado’s orders and demand but now she had taken the biggest decision of her life without her consent. Dado is heartbroken and cannot understand the reason behind the changed attitude of Meesha. Meesha is thinking emotionally and has only one motive behind her decision; to prove to Roman that she is not as naive as he thinks and he cannot play with her feelings. She wants to gain back herself respect that she thinks is broken by Roman whom she trusted the most. Maya Ali was brilliant in this episode. The sudden transition from a lively, innocent girl to a serious girl, whose spirit has been broken, is very well played by her.
Bano is scheming to stop Meesha from marrying Mayer. She had laid down a condition in front of Mayer and Meesha; she wants Meesha to stay at their place so that she can change her ways and polish her so that she can be introduced in their society. Bano knows that Dado would never agree to this. I absolutely love the bonding between Meesha and her Dado. She knew she was wrong to hurt her Dado and take the most important decision of her life without her Dado’s consent and happiness. The emotional scene between Dado and Meesha when she comes back was heartwarming.
Meher was seen taunting Dado about Meesha’s decision to go and stay at Bano’s house and gloating that her daughters would never do such a thing. She was pointing finger at Meesha’s upbringing which broke Dado’s heart. The irony was that at that very moment her two daughters were not in the house. Aimee had run away with Farjad while Zaini was in the police station as she was caught drunk. This additional part about Zaini getting drunk was not at all needed in this episode. Aimee and Farjad scenes once again made me laugh. You cannot help but smile at Aimee’s sweetness and innocence. Warda Butt’s acting has made Aimees’ character even more special.
Mayer finally finds out what kind of treatment Meesha gets at her house and wants to get married to her immediately. This shocks both Bano and Meesha but Bano controls the situation and delays the wedding by keeping her condition. I was happy to see that Mayer was not in favour of her mother’s decision to change Meesha, he loves her just the way she is. We also saw Mayer giving a cold look to Roman when he saw him and Meesha together. Meesha’s refusal to acknowledge Roman as her friend hurt Roman’s feelings. I could not help but feel sad for him.
I cannot believe Surraiya would fall so low and blackmail Roman to stay with her. I was disgusted by her behavior and poor Roman gave in to her blackmail just to save Meesha’s dreams. Roman also tried to talk to Meesha but she was in no mood to hear him. He is puzzled by the sudden change in her behavior and wants to know the reason behind it. If only they would talk and clear things up all this confusion and misunderstanding would go away!
The preview for the next episode seems interesting. Meher and Meesha have shifted to Bano’s house and Bano is treating Meesha very harshly. It seems like Bano is up to something! What is her new plan and why has she made Roman the wedding planner for Meesha and Mayer’s wedding? When will Meesha’s past be revealed? I hope we get all the answers soon.

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 11 – Misunderstandings and Heartbreak

Maya Ali and Faizan Khwaja were the stars of this episode. They both have done a wonderful job. Their expressions and timing was brilliant. Hats off! I always found Meesha and her antics hilarious, even when she was bossed and ordered around by the evil stepmother and step sisters, but for the first time I felt sad at her predicament. A misunderstanding has emerged between Meesha and Roman and Meesha feels exploited. She thinks Roman has played with her feelings because of the twisted way the truth came out in front of her.
Meesha was ready to give up her dreams for Roman when the shattering truth came in front of her. Roman lied to Suraiya and this was overheard by Meesha who believed it to be the truth. Meesha completely loses her self esteem and resorts to the only way left to gain it back; by marrying Mayer. She had no intention to say yes to him as she had finally realized how much she loved Roman. But just to give him the taste of his own medicine she says yes to Mayer and tells Roman that she knew his truth all along and she was the one to play with his feelings. Meesha said some really harsh words to him which broke his heart completely.
‘Tumne socha bhi kaise ke Mayer jaise larke ke samne koi larki tumhe ghaas dalegi’
These words spoken by Meesha broke his heart into pieces and he couldn’t suppress his tears. My heart went out to him in this scene. Faizan Khwaja was superb! Actors are usually horrible at crying but Faizan did a great job. Roman’s tears actually made me sad.
I am surprised that Mayer could not judge that Meesha is not happy by the way she accepted his proposal. She was so unhappy and it was clearly written on her face. Sometimes getting what you have always dreamed off is not enough, because there may be other things that would make you even more happier.
Dado is completely against Meesha’s decision of marrying Mayer as she knows about her feelings for Roman, and thinks that she is blindly running after her dreams. But the truth is very different; she is only marrying him because of her self respect that she thinks Roman has crushed.
Roman has completely given up now and is going back. He just wants Meesha to be happy with Mayer. His happiness lies in hers. I have said it before and I would say it again, I love Roman’s character because of his selflessness. He likes to help people and make them happy and never asks for anything in return. I hope Meesha gets to know the truth soon and everything is cleared between them.
I am getting more and more curious by the day. What is Meesha’s past? Who is Shah Baba and Farjad and how are they related to Meesha? And the funny part is poor Farjad thinks Aimee is Meesha and that is why he is adamant on marrying her. What will happen once Farjad gets to know Aimee is not the girl he is looking for?
I was disappointed to see that Meher discriminates between her own daughters. She degrades Aimee, and Zaini always gets the limelight. Meher went so far as to slap Aimee, when she tried to protest against the discrimination. I felt really bad for Aimee. Warda Butt has done a superb job!
Now coming to Mayer and Bano; Mayer’s decision to marry Meesha has created a rift between mother and son. Bano is completely against the marriage as Meher has filed her ears with doubts about Meesha’s past. I hope this delays the marriage and the misunderstanding is cleared between Meesha and Roman and everything falls into place. It seems like interesting things are coming up in this show and trust me, you wouldn’t want to miss a single episode!

Aik Nayee Cinderella Episode 10 – Acceptance and Confessions

0

This show always manages to bring a smile to my face. Its concept is so refreshing and different from the other shows. The female lead is strong headed but naive at the same time. This combination makes her character even more adorable. She refuses to be intimidated by anybody and this is what I like about Meesha’s character. The whole episode was based on her dilemma. She was confused about her feelings. She kept on wondering why she was not sad now that Mayer was getting married to Zaini. She was not upset at the prospect of losing her love. But was it love in the first place? Roman answered her question when she shared her confusion with him. ‘Maybe your heart belongs to someone else now and that is why you are not affected by their marriage’. This made Meesha question her own feelings.

Today’s episode made the contrast between Mayer and Roman even more clear. Roman had loved Meesha since the beginning, even before she had any clue that he even existed, he fell in love with her just the way she was; simple and sweet. He helped her in every possible way to win over Mayer when he himself loved her so much. He always cared for her and could do anything for her happiness without expecting anything in return. Dado was the only one to recognize his feelings and she also thinks that he is the perfect guy for Meesha. Mayer fell in love with his ‘mystery‘ girl because he found her different from the rest, he was running after an illusion that he had created of that girl and Meesha never fit into that image and that is why he could not recognize her as the same girl he had met that day at the jheel. He could never notice a simple girl like Meesha. Zaini, however, did match the image he had created and so he considered her to be that girl. The truth was finally revealed by Aimee who spilled the beans and exposed Zaini’s lie. Mayer finally got to know the real girl was Meesha. Mayer is acting like a selfish person who at first played with Meesha’s feelings to make Zaini jealous and now expects her to accept his love after the truth is revealed. He proposed to her and fully expected her to say yes. He seemed pretty confident that she would agree. He had given her time to think because of her lack of response.

Meesha is again confused at her own reaction, she should be happy and overwhelmed but instead she feels sad and empty. She can now have everything she has ever wished for; her prince charming, a palace and to be treated like a princess. Then what is stopping her from being happy? The first person that comes to her mind is Roman and she runs off to tell him about Mayer’s proposal but she finally finds the answer to all her questions when she is about to tell Roman about Mayer. The sudden realization and unbelievable truth shocked her to the core; she was not happy because her happiness was in someone else. Someone who had always been there for her and with whom she shared all her worries, happiness and sorrows. Her true love was none other than Roman. This was my favorite scene of the episode. When she asks Roman to close his eyes and she looks at him and suddenly realizes how much she loves him.

Roman finally knows that Meesha reciprocates his feelings. He knows her so well that he could easily read her face and recognize her feelings for him. He had never confessed to her because he did not want to shatter her dreams. She had dreamed of a handsome prince, with a palace and he was a mere popper who had nothing to give her except his love. Dado encouraged him to confess his feelings for Meesha as she always wanted her to marry a man who loved her dearly.

Now coming to the funniest part of the episode; I must say, Aimee and Farjad are perfect for each other, they look extremely cute together. I am really happy for Aimee. Their scenes always manage to make you laugh. Also, the scene where Meesha informed Dado that Roman was a fairy man and the expression on Dado’s face at this news was comical. Poor woman could not believe her ears! It is high time now that Meesha gets to know the truth. Her naivety and simplicity is cute and funny.
Will Meesha reject Mayer and go back to Roman? What will be her reaction when she finds out that Roman has been lying to her all this time? I cannot wait for the next episode now!

Aik Nayee Cinderella – Last Episode!

Aik Nayee Cinderella was a great watch. It was a show which always managed to bring a smile on my face. It was a refreshing show with a different concept. Maya Ali as Meesha was simply wonderful. Meesha’s cute antics were always a treat to watch. Maya was perfect for the role and had given a great performance for a new actor. Faizan Khwaja was the highlight of the show for me. I had not seen him as a lead in any other show and I did not expect much from him but he has surprised me with his superb acting skills. I always looked forward to all the scenes between Meesha and Roman as they both had an amazing chemistry. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed by Osman Khalid Butt’s acting skills. Since he is a theatre actor, I had a lot of expectations from him but he failed to live up to them. He really needs to work on his expressions and dialogue delivery. Haissam Hussain has shown his magic again after Dastaan. His direction was beyond excellent. He gave life and soul to Faiza Iftikhar’s script. And lastly, the beautiful places the show was shot at managed to glorify the beauty of all the scenes in the show. The costumes, makeup, and the setup all gave a fairytale look to the show.

Roman and Meesha finally got back together. I loved all their scenes in this episode. Roman finally got to know the reason why Meesha was so angry all this time and cleared things up. They took their sweet time to clear their misunderstandings! Roman manages to convince Meesha to go along with Shah Baba’s plan and agree to marry Farjad. She finally agrees as she trusts Roman now. She did not want to run away and hide from Shah Baba. Meesha’s confession to Roman about her feelings was the best scene of the episode! Meesha innocently told him that she likes him and in reply she got a smile from Roman and he also told her that he knew this from a long time.

aik collage

Mayer also tried to emotionally blackmail Meesha to agree to the marriage. He only managed to disgust me! He only cared about what will happen to him if Shah Baba locks him in the prison. Meesha finally saw Mayer’s true face and told him that she never loved him and she never will either! Way to go Meesha! She also requested Shah Baba to let Mayer leave Shahabad. She pitied him and gave his escape as a gift to him. The Prince Charming turned out to be the biggest disappointment and the pauper was actually the true Prince. How ironic! What shines may not always turn out to be gold!

I must say, I was very disappointed with the ending. I expected some power packed ending but the episode ended on a very vague note. Farjad finally managed to stop Shah Baba from getting married to Meesha. He took all his power away from him and left him helpless. But what happened after this? What happened to Meesha and Roman? I wanted to see them living together happily. What happened to Dado, Zaini and Meher? I would have loved to see some scenes between Farjad and Aimee. I really wanted to see a proper ending. They dragged the show so much but could not give a good ending to satisfy the audiences. I am sure many of you will agree with me.

Overall, this show had the perfect ingredients to impress the audiences. It had a good cast, a superb director, a brilliant writer, beautiful locations and last but not the least a good OST. It had suspense, drama, entertainment as well as comedy. I am really going to miss this show! I hope we get to see more shows in the future with such refreshing concepts.

Aik Aur Din Sanam Ke Sath!

After watching a few repetitive, painful and staged episodes of Jago Pakistan Jago which were more of a narration of another day in the life of Sanam Jung, we are fully convinced that this show should be renamed “Aik Aur Din Sanam Jung Ke Sath”!! We are not arguing the fact that Sanam Jung has a massive fan following and some of these (more desperate we need to get a life) fans probably wake up every morning to find out whether Sanam Jung slept well at night or not, if Qassam and Sanam had a fight in the past 14 hours or so and whether Sanam struggled to make dinner or was she lucky enough to get dinner from her susral but most of the viewers do not tune into this show to find out the trials and tribulations in the life of the “self-proclaimed” housewife who is clearly not a housewife!

The reason why we are more disappointed in Sanam Jung trying so hard to fit into the role of a typical morning show host is that we expected better from her. She is educated, we also believe she is very intelligent and she is an outgoing young lady with a vibrant personality yet every morning she wakes up to prove to the world that she is just another struggling housewife and mother who cannot cope. By doing so, first of all she is not helping anyone and secondly, she is only promoting a stereotype because most housewives do much more than just looking pretty for their husbands, cooking good food and mulling over trivial matters.

In yesterday’s show Sanam Jung while talking to her other housewife buddies said ” hum jaisi housewives” which was yet another attempt to blend into the crowd (which we are not even sure exists!).  It is a common practice for talk show hosts to share some personal stories with their viewers in order to make the viewers connect to them at a more human level but Sanam Jung takes this practice a little too far and while doing so she definitely undermines many of the housewives out there who actually find her daily struggles (real or not) annoying, to say the least.

We often hear Sanam Jung speak about how she wants regular people and her viewers to relate to her but does she really present herself or her life in such a way where regular ladies who come from all walks of life, who belong to different social classes can find it easy to relate to her? Sanam Jung obviously doesn’t really understand the struggles that generally women go through because she lives in a bubble of her own perfect world and believes in turning her non-issues into the issues for her viewers to either sympathize with her or see her as one of them, but most of the times or rather all the time, its a failed attempt because the nominal things that she complains about are things that other women have to deal with almost every single day of their lives. With Sanam Jung it is so obvious that there is a gap between her and her audience and she doesn’t really do much to overcome it.

Sanam Jung very often asks her guests a question and ends up answering it (in detail) herself because obviously Sanam’s experiences carry more value than all of her guests put together. We are certain that many other viewers who tuned into a specific episode of Jago Pakistan Jago in order to learn something new about a certain celebrity guest were terribly disappointed since the host does not allow her guests to speak a lot. Not only this, there have been times when Sanam Jung invited “experts” to the show and ended up giving expert opinions herself and the guests were left wondering what they were supposed to do there!

Yes, everyone wants to know what the hosts who grace their TV screens on a daily basis do and live their life like but Sanam Jung, without a doubt takes self-obsession to a whole new level! For any host, to share personal experiences in order to teach the audience is definitely a must but every time we listen to Sanam, we are left baffled as to what details like having strawberries in her fridge, eating semolina for her daughter, a change in her shoe size after her pregnancy, her husband switching the Air Conditioning on when she is asleep, her maid hunt, her daughter making faces at the sight of food, she being unable to cook would do for the audience? The way Sanam speaks about herself and her life goes to show that she is one of those people who don’t really care if the listener is actually interested to listen to the things that she is saying or not, because if she was mindful of the fact, she would cut down on this practice and make her input in the show a little interesting by not making it all about herself.

Sanam Jung thinks people who watch her shows are unable to see that she can walk the walk, but can’t talk the talk, in a sense that she presents herself as a people’s person, as someone who thinks everyone is the same but does exactly the opposite when it actually comes to the general public, the regular people, yes, the enthusiastic audience of her show, who sadly love her so much that they are unable to see her bizarre behavior towards them. Sanam’s attitude with her audience is always questionable, where she conveniently snubs them, easily shows her displeasure, doesn’t really do much to connect to them on a personal level, making it evident that she only communicates with them because it is the format and the requirement of her show otherwise she would never stop and talk to a random person or hear their story as she is filled with so many stories of herself that she doesn’t have time for anyone else.

Since it is a common practice in Jago Pakistan Jago that the hostess even snubs her guests if she doesn’t agree with what they are saying, so it makes us feel that Sanam should stop inviting people to her show, like there should be no audience, no guests and Jago Pakistan Jago can turn into a One Woman Show where Sanam doesn’t have to deal with people and where she does not have to stay quiet because someone else is speaking. Since Sanam has so many personal stories to share, she can easily run a 2 hour show by talking about herself, her life, her husband, her daughter, her mother, her father and her sisters as this is something that she normally does, so this is our suggestion to the Channel and the Producers of the show. However, the real question is, how many people would really be interested in watching that show! ;)
