Taking to his social media, Shamoon Abbasi in a video stated, “We heard Asad Umar’s conference of and came to know that PIA would bring back stranded Pakistanis from Britain and Canada. Since we’re stuck here for the past 15 days we would want the government to look into this matter as well.”
“We’re 21 people here, Sara Loren, Mohib Mirza, Sanam Saeed, Iman Syed and 14 people from the crew and the expenses have been increasing,” added Shamoon further.
“We know that PIA will begin operations to bring back stranded Pakistanis from England and Canada but there has been no mention of Thailand as yet. I would like to request the foreign ministry, Asad Umar and also PM Imran Khan to look into the matter,” said Shamoon requesting if a route could be arranged so that the team of the film and 150 other stranded Pakistanis from Thailand could be brought back to Pakistan.

Shamoon Abbasi’s film Durj was all set to release in Pakistan on the 18th of October. However, a fortnight before its release, the film was banned by Islamabad censor board even when it had been cleared by the Sindh and Punjab censor board earlier. Following the undue and undeserved ban, as Sindh censor board member Umer Khitab Khan viewed the film and himself stated to have not found anything objectionable in the film, filmmaker and actor Shamoon Abbasi took to Twitter to address the higher authorities to revoke the ban on the film.

Calling upon Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan, special adviser to the Prime Minister for information and broadcasting, Shamoon Abbasi also asked for a full board censor review of his film as the Sindh and Punjab board had earlier cleared Durj and were forced to revoke their verdict upon insistence from the Islamabad censor board.
“Appeal to the federal censor board to review the film #Durj with a full board panel and give us a fair conclusion on it Sindh and punjab censor board have cleared the movie already and now being revoked by them forcefully We request the authorities to help us @Dr_FirdousPTI,” wrote Shamoon on his Twitter.
Asking the Prime Minister Imran Khan to look into the matter as well, Shamoon urged that his film simply depicted the subject of mental illness in a few people that tend to go to certain extents to commit crimes and should be allowed to release with dignity.

Shamoon has been insisting on his social media to be told about the objectionable scenes or content in his film which could be removed to allow for its release. The actor insists its a propaganda behind his film not being allowed to release in Pakistan and to be honest, it does look like a hidden agenda. When mindless comedies with double meaning vulgar dialogues can be allowed to release in cinemas across the country, why can’t a film like Durj, that simply speaks of a taboo subject matter and brings across powerful performances, not being allowed to run in cinemas, all of which are currently facing a very dry spell ever since the ban on Indian films.
The ‘Bad Man’ of the Pakistani entertainment industry, Shamoon Abbasi has lately received a huge applause for his negativity in the blockbuster Pakistani movie Waar which has broken all the precious records of Pakistani Film Cinemas. Throughout the shooting of Waar, Shamoon was found all attached with the project and it was even after the post release of the film that the celebrity kept on promoting Waar on social media and on other platforms.

The hype, however died when the drama serial ended, but it seems, people still cannot stop talking about it. Recently, Shamoon Abbasi threw shade at the drama on a talk show, Bol Nights With Ahsan Khan.
Calling the makers of Meray Paas Tum Ho out, Shamoon Abbasi said,” The self proclaimed big shows that claim to have stepped ahead of shows like Game of Thrones or surpassed Avengers in cinemas, make me laugh. ”
Justifying his point, Shamoon added, “The day when the season finale of Game of Thrones was to be released, the makers had so much control on social media that platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook and Twitter went down for 6 hours only to ensure that spoilers would not be shared. ”
Abbasi then went on to question if local drama producers had such control over their dramas to make such huge claims.

Two days ago Durj’s trailer was finally launched. Shamoon had announced it long ago along with Gum, another film by Abbasi starring Sami Khan. The trailer shows that is a very intense film as it tells a story of a cannibal. Shamoon said that there are basically three stories which merge into one.

He was inspired by a family in Punjab which dug graves and earthed the bodies and another man who would dig graves of young girls and raped them. Shamoon said, “That struck me. It became a nightmare for me to know that there are people in this country who are doing this and roaming free. If this thing becomes easy [to carry out], nobody is actually going to be safe.”
On challenges of being playing such a difficult role on screen, he said, “It was not an easy job. When you’re thinking of doing such a role you need a lot of research; you cannot just be a negative role onscreen, you need to have a psychological aspect to it.”
He also had a hard time preparing for the part and it took very long. He said, “I had to keep my beard for almost two years to make it look real and give it that length. It took me three months to grow my nails. I did not want to use wigs or fake props for this movie. Our viewers are very smart now and I didn’t want to cheat them if we are doing something so real, it has to be convincing.” This makes us only look forward to the film more and more.
Film and Television actor Shamoon Abbasi has recently come in support of actress Meera Ji following her latest statements related to getting funds for her film.
Earlier it was reported by many newspapers and websites that Meera has said that she needs funds from the government for making movie else she would commit suicide.
