Shayyad Episode 2 Review – Good One!

This second episode of Shayyad definitely had more highs than lows. Once again Saad in particular won me over completely; his love is pure and honest and Uzair Jaswal has translated this character impeccably on screen so far. The relationship between Hani and Saad has also been explained and shown in such a way that you can’t help but feel an instant connection with them. I simply loved the way the opening scenes of this episode showed that Junaid was “trespassing”. Most of Hani’s conversation with Junaid revolved around the bond she shared with Saad. When Junaid wrote his and Hani’s name on the wall, Hani’s reacted as if he had just entered into Hani and Saad’s world without realizing what he was doing. Later on, when Saad saw those names on the wall he was heartbroken. I must say that while Saad’s feelings for Hani are crystal clear and his scenes extremely poignant, Hani’s character keeps you guessing especially because there are times when Sadia Khan’s expressions are confusing.

It was good to see Junaid’s track wrapping up in this episode without any dramatic twists which most of us were expecting. Junaid gracefully took a step back after he found out that there was no place for him in Hani’s life. This development was refreshing and logical as well. The way Saad took the first bus back home when he found out that Hani was with someone else showed how possessive he was about Hani. The poetry in the previous episode summed up Saad’s feelings for Hani beautifully; he has never loved anyone else therefore he cannot imagine sharing Hani with someone else.

Shayyad Episode 2 Review - Good One!

The wall has been used creatively in more ways than one by the writer; it is a sign of all the ups and downs in Hani and Saad’s relationship and tonight it was used to tell Junaid that Hani didn’t see a soulmate in him. This had to be one of the most novel rejections we have seen in dramas in recent times! The last scene of the episode was directed exceptionally well because this scene could have been too cheesy if it wasn’t directed in a rather subtle manner. Phupo gate crashing and Hani’s reaction went to show that there was nothing romantic about the situation as far as Hani was concerned. I hate Mahpara’s character already; she is the only clichéd character in the drama so far and I feel she is getting a lot more screen time than she should. Her bitterness makes sense but her scenes can easily be forwarded if someone is going to watch this drama online since these scenes are rather repetitive.

Overall, this episode belonged to Saad and Uzair Jaswal yet again. All those people who think that he isn’t “hero material” should definitely give him a chance. He is the only one who has my undivided attention and the only character I truly feel for after watching these two episodes. Sadia Khan on the other hand seemed to be struggling in some of the scenes in tonight’s episode. She looks absolutely flawless in this drama, the make-up artist deserves tons of credit for giving her the perfect makeover but her expressions can sometimes be extremely confusing. Uzair Jaswal and Sadia Khan also share an amazing on-screen chemistry which makes their scenes together work even when Sadia Khan’s performance isn’t always up to the mark. I am looking forward to Nauman Ijaz’s entry in the next episode.

Shayyad Episode 19 Review – Important Developments!

This episode had plenty of important developments to its credit and quite unexpectedly this time around Mahpara’s track was much more poignant than that of Hani or even Saad! While Hani and Saad’s love story was always the centre of attention but tonight everything that Saad did for his phupo, with the help of Tania, was the highlight of the show. This latest development once again highlighted the sensitive and caring nature of Saad’s character which is also the reason why he leaned towards Hani in the first place. While it was somewhat frustrating watching Hani suffer, Tania’s reaction to the whole situation and the turn phupo’s track took was extremely gratifying. The story continues to be convincing, engaging and unpredictable but even in this episode the flashback scenes were unnecessary and didn’t go well with the situations at all. Apart from that, Sadia Khan’s perfect eye make-up and hairdo stood out like a sore thumb.

For the first time tonight Salar opened up about his past and the viewers found out why it wasn’t just his father whom he hated but he despised his mother as well. He blamed his mother for not taking a stand and in a really subtle manner the writer aptly put forward a really important message without holding the wife/mother responsible entirely. The fact that Salar’s mother also told her side of the story and eventually decided to call Hani’s family was the most pleasant aspect of all these developments because in a neutral manner, the viewers were shown both sides of the story. Although Salar’s mother never had the courage or resources to walk out of the abusive relationship with her husband but she did whatever she could do to help Hani. Her helplessness made perfect sense as well since Salar is the kind of person who wouldn’t think twice before hitting his own mother. Nauman Ijaz’s performance was brilliant in this episode, he completely owns this role just like every other character he has played till date. Sadia Khan’s acting was right on point in this episode but her outlook didn’t go well with the situation Hani was in.

Shayyad Episode 19 Review - Important Developments!

Tania’s decision to call off the marriage and that of proposing Mahpara on her dad’s behalf was completely in line with her character. She was always shown as a confident and practical woman therefore everything she did tonight was logical as well as convincing. She was heart broken and upset but instead of getting angry, she decided to go away quietly from Saad’s life. Her heart break however could have been covered in a much better manner if the timeline wasn’t so confusing in the past two episodes. Also, Kinza Razzaq’s heavy contouring and highlighting didn’t compliment her cute face and was distracting. If it wasn’t for all these glitches this entire development would have been far more impactful. Having said that the connection with all the characters is such that I always find myself feeling for them mainly because of the way they have been etched-out and the manner in which the story is being taken forward.

Mahpara’s conversation with Saad was one of the best scenes of this episode because it showed just how far these characters had come in all these years. Apart from this, some of the dialogues tonight covering Saad’s agony were beautiful and even Salar’s dialogues were written intelligently – the way his entire story was summed up in a couple of scenes was brilliant. The journeys of all the characters have been shown credibly throughout and it seems like their tracks will be winded up nicely too. Mahpara’s ending gave hope that Hani and Saad’s track might have a happy ending too. The preview of the next episode however suggested something entirely different. It is impossible to predict what turn the story will take from here and how it will conclude.

Shayyad Episode 17 & 18 Review – Poorly Edited But Intriguing

Shayyad has an interesting storyline and some of the performances keep you glued to the television screen but episode 17 in particular was poorly edited because of which the timeline was seriously confusing and the episode overall didn’t have a proper flow. Although, tonight’s episode didn’t have glaring editing mistakes but the timing of some of the developments was somewhat odd – Hani walking out of the house with Salar hours after dada passed away was really strange. Saad and Hani’s track however continues to be the most appealing aspect of the show even though some very important developments in these two episodes weren’t covered as flawlessly as they were in the past few weeks even then this track keeps your interest alive.

Tania finally found out who the love of Saad’s life was and Hani decided to go back to Salar because she could tell what Saad was going to do next if she stayed any longer. Tania’s reaction and Hani’s decision both made perfect sense but it was disappointing to see how the flashback scenes were forced into many scenes and disrupted the flow of these scenes. These flashback scenes were unnecessary since they were used excessively and at times they didn’t even make sense. Tania was shown hearing Saad and Hani talk at the end of episode 16 but in episode 17 she seemed pretty normal and later on we saw that the mayun was yet to take place! The confusing timeline definitely killed the kind of impact these scenes could have had. Uzair Jaswal’s performance and Saad’s character however saved the day yet again. It is always easy relating to Saad’s character and feeling for him no matter how badly executed an episode is. Also, since the pace of these two episodes was fast therefore even with these flaws they were intriguing enough.

Shayyad Episode 17 & 18 Review - Poorly Edited But Intriguing

Dada’s death reminded me of the time when Saad was hoping he would die so that Hani wouldn’t get married. Saad’s scene with Dada was one of the best scenes in this episode but the family wasn’t shown remembering him the way they should have had. Mahpara finally decided to move on and Tania was shown pursuing her dad’s case in these episodes. Tania never got the opportunity to talk to her father about Saad and Hani but her reaction showed that she was going to be more “understanding” than any other girl in her situation would be. Right now Saad’s mother is the only person who would stand in the way of Saad and Hani’s marriage other than that everyone would be more than willing to let them have their happily ever after. Uzair Jaswal shares amazing on-screen chemistry with all his co-stars which is why even though some of the performances leave a lot to be desired but the scenes are always convincing.

These two episodes had quite a few impressive and meaningful dialogues. The background score however in some of the scenes was so loud that these dialogues were barely audible. In the past 15 weeks or so the director utilized the flashback scenes in the most creative manner but in these two episodes there were many which could have been easily chopped down. Even though the director failed to do justice to these two really important episodes, the story as a whole remains interesting and unlike many other recent dramas this one is not being stretched. Every episode has something important to offer and always gives you a reason to look forward to more. Even with all the glitches here and there, Shayyad continues to be entertaining because of its storyline. I am sure I am not the only one rooting for Saad and Hani and I am even waiting to see Mahpara ending up with someone who will value her. Salar’s track’s ending is highly unpredictable as well therefore intriguing.

Shayyad Episode 16 Review – Interesting Developments

Tonight’s episode of Shayyad had a lot of important developments to its credit and just like every other episode of this drama this one too had a surprise in store. Aslam sahib’s entry has changed a great deal in a good way. Just like Tania, he is really different from Saad and his family. While in Saad’s family, everyone takes everything a little too seriously and they tend to worry more and do less, Tania and her father have a completely different approach. Some of the major developments tonight however, didn’t have the same impact they could have had because they seemed rushed. Having said that, the story is getting more interesting with every passing episode and it is impossible to guess what turn it will take in the upcoming weeks.

This episode opened with everyone greeting Tania’s father Aslam. He turned out to be a really pleasant surprise since his first interaction with Mahpara suggested that these two were meant to be together. I wasn’t expecting Mahpara’s track to take this turn but watching her take interest in a man other than someone who left her a long time back was a positive development. The actor playing the role nailed the light hearted scenes but he could have done better in that one relatively more serious scene in which he tells Hani to follow her heart. This conversation however was written brilliantly since it wasn’t directed at Hani alone but Mahpara was also listening to it and it was something she could relate to.

The lavish brunch was covered perfectly and this was another meaningful scene which showed how Tania helped Hani Smile again. Tania’s character is a breath of fresh air and it was sad to see her finding out who Saad’s true love was just days before her wedding. Saad has always been quite selfish when it comes to loving and supporting Hani therefore it did not come as a surprise at all that he didn’t pause to think about Tania when he proposed to Hani once again. This entire development however was too rushed since it seemed like some of the more important details were missing. The timeline in these scenes was confusing because the divorce papers were ready a little too quickly and the conversation between Hani and Saad was rather abrupt. When did Saad give Hani these papers and why did she change her mind suddenly?

Shayyad Episode 16 Review - Interesting Developments

It was surprising watching Salar drive away after his encounter with Saad. Saad’s father was absolutely right, this wasn’t like him at all. I am waiting to see what is going to be Salar’s next move. His conversation with his mother tonight revealed that his father used to abuse her and perhaps him to. Now that he is in control instead of doing things differently, he is doing exactly what his father did. He gets pleasure out of causing pain to people around him and is incapable of loving anyone at all. Nauman Ijaz yet again acted brilliantly tonight, no matter how short his scenes are he always makes his presence felt and completely owns his role.

Uzair Jaswal’s performance tonight was impressive and the fact that he shares great on screen chemistry with all his co-stars makes all his scenes work. Saad and Tania’s scenes together are always meaningful. Tonight too, all their scenes together added something important to their track. Tania was always afraid of losing Saad and now that her fears have come true I am waiting to see how she is going to react. Tania’s scene with Hani in which she tells her to move on was also really well written.
The dialogues tonight were deep and meaningful and right now the story is more interesting than it ever was. If some of the developments weren’t rushed tonight this episode would have been perfect. I also miss watching Irfan Khoosat’s character on screen, he should have been given some screen time in every other episode. Overall, Shayyad is an engaging play which keeps on giving you something to look forward to. Really looking forward to the next episode!

Shayyad Episode 15 Review – Emotional and Powerful

This episode took the filmi feel of this play to a whole new level! Hani and Saad have to be one of the best on-screen couples we have seen in our dramas this year since their story is unlike any other and some of the scenes have never-seen-before written all over them. Many of these scenes don’t have a lot of dialogues but they are crucial to the plot. Every episode of this drama has at least one such scene which must have been really difficult to translate on screen yet the director has shot these scenes so well that they work every single time. The scene in which Hani and Saad cried after years of keeping the promise they made to each other was one such scene in tonight’s episode. The story is getting even more interesting with every passing episode and like every other play written by Faiza Iftikhar, this one too is highly unpredictable.

Tonight’s episode had some really important developments to its credit. With this episode Hani’s character took a new turn and Saad helped her in a way no one else could. The fact that these two have been connected to each other since they were children gives this love story a background different from any other we have seen in our dramas. Although Bin Roye dealt with a similar love triangle but the characters and the story itself never had the same appeal as this one. Irtiza and Saba didn’t have the connection or the relationship dynamics which Hani and Saad share. The way Saad’s character has evolved in all these years has been one of the best parts of this track. Although Saad’s character never lost its appeal even when he was desperate to break Hani’s engagement with Salar but right now Saad’s character is more likeable than ever. Saad always felt the need to protect Hani even when he was a little kid therefore no matter what he has gone through over the years this desire to save Hani from any kind of harm has remained constant. The flashback scenes were once again used effectively in this episode and these scenes also made the difference in Saad and Hani’s outlooks even more prominent. The credit for this goes to the make-up artist and the director as well who gave Saad especially two very different looks. Since Saad was only a young boy when Hani got married and now he is a grown man therefore it was really important that this difference in age and maturity reflected in the way he looked too and not only in his personality.

Shayyad Episode 15 Review - Emotional and Powerful

Saad’s mother did whatever she could do to persuade Hani to go back to her husband and if it wasn’t for Saad’s support she would have eventually given in to the pressure. Mahpara’s support has been the most refreshing aspect of this entire development. Unlike before I look forward to her scenes and I am waiting for the time when she will have a one-to-one conversation with Hani about her take on this entire situation. Salar’s reaction when he heard that Hani had been crying was also covered in a manner that it couldn’t go unnoticed. This was another scene which was short yet meaningful. All of Salar’s scenes showed he had absolutely no remorse and he still thought he was entitled to do whatever he wanted to. Tania’s role in this entire situation was also positive and her character is turning out to be a likeable one. She is different from all the other characters because her perspective is more practical. Although the actress playing the role has a long way to go but the character itself has a lot going for it.

Uzair Jaswal, Nauman Ijaz and Sadia Khan’s performances yet again were right on point in this episode but the script and the direction have to be the clear winners here. So far, the direction has been absolutely brilliant and the dialogues and situations have been extremely powerful and emotional.

The preview of the next episode showed that Salar will finally go to Hani’s house to take her “home” with him. Hani’s reply and Saad’s reaction made it look like Hani won’t go back with him but it is impossible to predict what turn the story will take from here.

Shayyad Episode 14 Review – Poignant and Thrilling

This was one of the most emotionally charged and brilliant episodes of Shayyad. It had quite a few scenes which were written and executed superbly and with this episode the story took a brand new turn. Hani’s secret is out and the way she was “welcomed” by Saad’s mother said a great deal about why she decided to keep everything to herself for all these years. The scenes which covered few hours of Salar and Hani’s married life were right on point since they couldn’t have been more well structured. The phone conversation showed how panicked Hani was, her decision to leave without informing anyone, the journey back home and whatever Salar did once she arrived home revealed just how mentally disturbed and violent this man was. The next scene was one of my favorite scenes from this episode since everyone involved made it extremely powerful and therefore effective. While Salar did whatever he could to make Hani cry, Hani refused to shed a tear since she wanted to keep the promise she made to Saad. This one scene explained clearly the relationship Hani shared with both these men. It also yet again showed the difference between Salar and Saad. This scene was written and executed beautifully. The way the flashback scenes have been used in these recent episodes has been quite impressive since it takes a lot of hard work to use such scenes in an impactful manner. Sadia Khan and Nauman Ijaz’s performances were equally impressive in this episode.

There were also some scenes in this episode which showed that Hani valued Saad’s love even more today than she did so many years back. One of the flashback scenes also suggested that Hani too loved Saad but never in the same way in which he loved her. Saad’s mother was the only one who was terribly bothered when Hani came back home with Saad because she knew that if Hani doesn’t go back to Salar, her son will never go ahead with this marriage. Mahpara’s reaction to this entire incident had to be the most unexpected part of this episode since for the first time she did not judge Hani but she supported her. The preview of the next episode also suggested that she will continue supporting Hani.

Shayyad Episode 14 Review - Poignant and Thrilling

Tania and Saad’s scene together was also very meaningful since it showed just how naive Tania was and how much Saad had learned over the years. Tania has no idea what is going on and after her conversation with Hani in the previous episode, she is more convinced than ever that Saad has moved on. There are times when you also feel like she is in denial since Saad’s facial expressions and body language clearly suggest that he doesn’t feel anything for her. Now that Hani is back, things will change completely and I am waiting to find out how Tania will react once she finds out that Hani is the girl Saad was in love with. Once she finds out that Saad loves Hani just as much now as he did so many years back, the situation will become even more intense and interesting. It also remains to be seen how Salar will react to this latest development because a controlling and violent man like him can be capable of doing anything at all.

Overall, this episode was poignant and thrilling. It was the kind of episode which keeps you at the edge of your seat and it surely gave me tons to look forward to. Shayyad is a must watch for all the die-hard romantics out there! It will keep on giving you a reason to tune into it every week and you will find yourself completely involved in this unusual love story. This drama has been well-paced and interesting so far.

Shayyad Episode 13 Review – True Love Never Dies!

Saad and Hani finally met in this episode and the way this reunion was covered was absolutely flawless. Apart from some of the scenes which were stretched yet again, this episode as a whole was filled with meaningful scenes which gave the viewers an insight into what all these characters were going through at the moment. The background score was intoxicating throughout and the flashback scenes yet again were used effectively. The opening scene of this episode was detailed and covered a great deal from Saad’s first impression to his final judgment about what kind of a relationship Salar and Hani had.

Saad and Salar’s meeting, Saad knowing the truth even though Hani tried her best to hide it, Hani’s time alone and Tania’s rising curiosity were the highlights of this episode. The opening scene showed why Saad felt the need to go and see Hani right away; he could tell that there was something wrong when he heard his mother complaint how Hani did not stay in touch with her family any more. Saad’s mature approach this time around showed just how much he had changed. Although he still loved Hani just the way he did so many years back and he could also tell that Hani wasn’t happy with Salar but even then he did not get too emotional. Hani’s body language and expressions said a great deal about how she felt when Salar touched her; this was definitely not love but she was really scared of this man. The scene in which she entered her room and remembered all the beautiful moments she had shared with her best friend but reacted very differently when she came across Salar’s portrait was one of the most brilliantly directed and beautifully written scenes of this episode. When Hani made that sketch she was head over heels in love but now when she looked at it, it was almost as if she realized how wrong her opinion about this man was. The few scenes which covered Salar’s behavior towards Hani after their marriage couldn’t have been more to the point yet they managed to get the message across quite clearly. Also, Saad’s observation when he entered Hani’s house and few of his dialogues said a great deal about his accurate assessment about Salar’s personality. Sadia Khan performance was up to the mark tonight which made it easier for me to connect to her character. Uzair Jaswal has been underplaying Saad’s character right from the get-go which makes it even more likeable.

Shayyad Episode 13 Review - True Love Never Dies!

Tania had no idea that Hani was the love of Saad’s life therefore their conversations were quite interesting. The fact that Saad did not even mention Hani to Tania all this time went to show that he was never close to Tania which makes me wonder how long this relationship will last. Tania loves Saad the way he loves Hani therefore it won’t be surprising if she is willing to do whatever it takes to make him happy. Tania’s character is an interesting addition to Hani and Saad’s track since she is quite likeable. Mahpara’s scenes once again showed how she felt every time she met Shehryar or perhaps every time someone was getting married! The scene covering Shehryar and Mahpara’s meeting was stretched a lot and it didn’t have anything new to offer. While I understand Mahpara’s character and it has always made perfect sense but so far it doesn’t have a bigger role to play in the picture and her scenes always focus on one aspect of her personality.

Shayyad has managed to achieve what Bin Roye couldn’t by translating the story of undying love on screen in an impressive manner. These two plays have some similarities but Shayyad is a clear winner because of its solid storyline in particular as well as characters which are easy to connect to. Saad and Hani’s love story gets more interesting and intriguing with every passing episode and you can’t help rooting for them.
The preview of the next episode showed how Hani’s married life actually was like. Waiting to see more of Nauman Ijaz and can’t wait to find out what Saad is going to do next!

Shayyad Episode 12 Review – Weham!

Tonight’s episode of Shayyad focused entirely on Saad; all the scenes covering Saad’s track showed how even after all these years he had not moved on. Even though he termed his feelings for Hani as infatuation, his mohabbat a “weham” and kept on saying things to prove that he was incapable of feeling anything for anyone any more but the fact is that his past is still an important part of his present. Saad only refused to get married to Bubbly because he had still not forgiven his mother for the logic she gave him so many years back when she told him why she didn’t want him to get married to Hani. The situations covering Saad’s feelings were written really well but they could have been translated on screen more effectively. Uzair Jaswal’s acting wasn’t as impressive tonight as it has been throughout perhaps because some of the scenes were stretched.

Tania’s role is interesting; a cute and cheerful girl who comes from a liberal family and has no idea what she is getting herself into. Her character is poles apart from that of Saad but bears a striking resemblance to Saad’s past life and personality. However, the actress playing Tania’s role has a long way to go and her make-up also did not compliment her looks at all, the heavy contouring was actually distracting. She is cute and has tons of confidence but her acting left a lot to be desired. This episode opened with Tania trying to find out if Saad was in love with anyone and very soon she proposed to him. Even after Saad rejected her proposal, Tania’s reaction was too “cool” which killed the overall impact this scene and Saad’s dialogue could have had! There were a lot of dialogues tonight which were short, perfectly timed and beautifully written but they were not covered potently which was a huge disappointment.

Shayyad Episode 12 Review - Weham!

Dada Ji’s scenes tonight were entertaining as usual and provided some light moments. Irfan Khoosat is absolutely adorable as Dada Ji and it is great watching him play a role like this one since he has been continuously playing serious roles in dramas recently. Mahpara yet again tried to convince Dada Ji that the family’s dignity was at stake because Saad’s wife-to-be was someone who had spent her whole life abroad but just like always Dada Ji’s approach was open-minded as well as non-serious which was refreshing. I liked the way Saad’s mother’s reaction and later on her resignation was covered, I have always found it really easy to connect to her character.

The overall pace of tonight’s episode was slow, some of the scenes could have been wrapped up more quickly. After the powerful episode last week, I was expecting tonight’s episode to be more emotionally charged. This episode also didn’t have the kind of flow which keeps you too engaged and interested. The fact that Salar and Hani were completely missing from this episode also left a vacuum. The flashback scenes however were used effectively throughout. Uzair Jaswal’s performance tonight wasn’t as powerful as it has been previously but Saad’s journey was penned down perfectly; a man who was trying really hard to break free from his past but was constantly reminded of the love of his life especially after he came back to the house. This episode ended with Saad ultimately giving into his feelings. The preview of the upcoming episode looked promising and I am looking forward to it. I am really curious to find out how Hani’s life has been like all these years and what turn Saad and Hani’s relationship will take now.

Shayyad Episode 11 Review – Brilliant!

It is always a treat watching a play which has been written and executed with utmost clarity. Shayyad is turning out to be one such play which is getting more interesting and engrossing with every passing episode. The story is logical, the pace of the show is perfect and overall the drama has a different feel to it mainly because of the characters and the way it has been directed. The story moved forward considerably in this episode and the different turning points in Hani and Saad’s lives were translated on screen in a poignant and relatable manner.

Tonight’s episode of Shayyad opened with scenes which showed that Saad was a different person now; instead of moaning his loss or getting upset, he was the one comforting everyone. He did exactly what Hani wanted him to do and the manner in which he let Salma go went to show that he was far more sure and confident today than he ever was. Not very long ago Saad was the desperate boy who believed that everything was fair in love and war but after Salar’s accident all that changed since he realized that he could not be the reason for Hani’s unhappiness. Saad’s logic for letting Salma go was the highlight of this episode; the dialogues were powerful and everyone’s reactions were covered beautifully in that short scene. Saad’s entire journey so far has been a treat to watch, even in his weakest moments when he made the most bizarre decisions his character made perfect sense. The character development has always been convincing as well as interesting and Uzair Jaswal has given a solid performance throughout.

This episode focused more on Hani’s life after marriage and all the scenes which showed the difficulties Hani was facing were short and to the point but got the message across clearly. I am glad the story moved forward quickly since watching Hani go through this period in her life in detail would have turned this drama into just another drama about marital abuse. The few scenes which covered Hani’s life after marriage conveyed how Salar was treating her and what was Hani’s reaction to it all. All these scenes offered something different and therefore gave an insight into what Salar was capable of doing and how difficult it was for Hani to deal with it. I can’t praise the writer Faiza Iftikhar enough for ensuring that none of these characters appear to be victims even when they are going through the worst phase of their life. Unlike many other dramas, the writer has never once tried to gain viewer’s sympathies but she has narrated this story honestly and has left enough room to let the viewers decide what they want to feel for the characters. There are innumerable dramas in which the scenarios are such that there is a definite attempt by the writers to make the viewers like or dislike a character. Black and white characters can never have the same appeal as these characters which are grey. Every character has some weaknesses which make them more human and therefore easy to connect to. Sadia Khan performed well tonight and Nauman Ijaz was brilliant as usual.

Naila and Rizwan’s conversation after he found out that his wife knew about Salar’s drinking habit was one of my favorite conversations in this episode because it was so realistic. Naila is another grey character which has been translated on screen so well. She manages to showcase her weaknesses without appearing to be a clichéd character. You understand her thought process even though she has not been fair to Hani. Saad’s scene two and a half year later showed that he had not moved on.

This was another beautifully written and brilliantly directed episode of Shayyad. There wasn’t a single unnecessary scene in this episode which made it one of the best episodes of Shayyad. Hani and Salar’s scenes in particular were directed so well. I highly recommend this drama to anyone who wants to watch a different love story which is visually pleasing, intelligently written and engaging.

Shayyad Episode 10 Review – Simply Beautiful!

Tonight’s episode of Shayyad was brilliantly directed and it was extremely poignant. With this episode the story moved forward to the next phase in a beautiful and impactful manner. Saad and Hani’s relationship was covered faultlessly in these 10 episodes; from that moment when Saad even as a kid felt he needed to shield Hani from all the pain and sorrows that come her way to the time when Hani told him that she felt he could not protect her, every single scene between them added something tangible to this track and added more life to their characters. Saad’s character has been the most important character in this drama right from the start which is also one of the reasons why Shayyad is not just another love story. Watching a male character take the lead for a change and showing his vulnerabilities has been truly refreshing so far since Saad has never been turned into a victim. Hani’s character has greatly influenced Saad’s story for obvious reasons but Saad’s character continues to be more appealing.

Tonight’s episode covered a great deal and covering so many important developments in a short span of time in such an impactful manner was nothing short of brilliance. The writer Faiza Iftikhar gave Saad and Hani’s love story a tear-jerking turn and the director Syed Ali Raza made the entire scenario even more powerful by adding the right kind of background music and by showing flashback scenes which added to the beauty of these scenes. Saad looked after Salar in this episode and did not blame Hani for thinking the way she did because he felt that in some way he was responsible for the accident. These hospital visits and Hani’s apology later on was shown convincingly. Saad realized that he was wrong at some level and he tried to make up for that, something that made his character even more likeable. Salar’s accident served as a reality check for Saad and he decided that he could not force Hani to love him. Having said that, there were some scenes which suggested that Hani did love Saad but since she was orphaned at a young age, she wanted to be with an older man who she felt could give her security.

Shayyad Episode 10 Review - Simply Beautiful!

Saad’s mother’s frame of mind in particular was covered superbly in this episode. I am sure that just like me, the viewers did not have any difficulty relating to the decisions she made today and some of the things she decided to “overlook”. She admitted that she always knew that Saad loved Hani but she felt that her son deserved better. She also decided to ignore the fact that Salar was under the influence of alcohol when he had the accident. She wanted Hani out of the house now more than ever before because now everyone knew how Saad felt about her. She also desperately wanted her son to move on which is why she suggested that he should move abroad. Saad felt betrayed and also resigned to his fate which is why he decided to finally throw one thing which made him feel more closer to Hani in the same well where Hani rejected his love for her. This scene was one of the most beautiful and emotional scenes of tonight’s episode. Saad’s dance on Hani’s wedding and Saad and Hani’s final meeting before her baraat was also shot beautifully. This episode had some of the most emotional scenes to its credit which deserve to be watched over and over again. Saad and Hani’s track got the perfect “farewell” for now and the next phase of their life will start from the next episode.

Uzair Jaswal and Nauman Ijaz performed exceptionally well in tonight’s episode as well but this episode definitely belonged to the director who did complete justice to every single scene. These 10 episodes of Shayyad were entertaining and well-paced. I am eagerly looking forward to the upcoming episode.

The first episode of Shayyad belonged to Saad, the character, and also all those actors starting from the child star to Uzair Jaswal who breathed life into a character which wins you over completely almost instantly. The introduction to the characters was also unconventional, the first few minutes of the episode quickly wrapped up the kind of relationship Hani and Saad shared and the rest of the episode focused on different dynamics within the house while keeping Hani and Saad in the picture as the central subjects. This first episode was fast paced, engaging and emotional. While the supporting characters weren’t too appealing, I felt an instant connection with Saad in particular; his love for Hani is somewhat similar to Saba’s love for Irtiza but the huge difference here is that for a change the female character isn’t the one who is hopelessly in love. Also, for a change the male character is the dreamer and the female lead Umm-e-Hani played by Sadia Khan appears to be more practical so far.

Saad and Hani’s scenes were directed brilliantly and were the highlight of this episode. The on-screen chemistry between Uzair Jaswal and Sadia Khan made their scenes together even more appealing. Both these actors owned their characters and the interactions between them showed how differently these two visualized their relationship with each other. Hani’s dialogues after Saad left clearly showed that apart from Saad, she never made any other friends yet she was strong enough to let him go and stayed composed after he left. Hani lost her parents at a very young age but even then she was not afraid of losing another person who was really close to her because that was the only way Saad could have a better future. Hani’s Khala who sent her son so that he could get to know Hani better has apparently never put in any extra effort to stay in touch with her therefore I am wondering why all of a sudden she wants Hani to be her bahu.

Apart from the typical phupo, all the other family members were shown as positive characters who loved Hani. Munazzah Arif in particular added the soft touch to her character which gave it a more elegant feel. Saad’s interest in the wada bazar and his grandfather’s advice was hilarious. It also showed another side of Saad’s personality. This episode showed just how madly in love and even obsessed Saad was with Hani. I am definitely waiting to find out more about Hani’s character because so far only the practical aspect of her personality was highlighted in this episode. Surely a girl who lost her parents and has a small social circle would have more to her personality. Sadia Khan’s styling and make-up was right on point in this episode, she looked beautiful in every single scene. It still remains to be seen if she will be able to do justice to the more emotionally overpowering scenes in the upcoming episodes.

Some of the dialogues and poetry in this episode were beautifully penned down. It was one of those rare first episodes which makes you root for the lead right from the get-go although it is quite evident that Hani and Saad’s relationship is going to be a complicated one. Am I the only one who feels for Saad already after watching the preview of the next episode? Shayyad seems like a must-watch for all the hopeless romantics out there!

The turn of events in tonight’s episode, the side of Saad’s character which was revealed and the misunderstanding which lead to dada giving his approval was interesting but many of the scenes tonight weren’t as powerful as one would have expected them to be. The story has taken a somewhat unpredictable turn and Saad continues to be the one who is suffering the most, although he tried his best to make everyone understand that he wanted to marry Hani but in the end he was the one who was responsible for getting the final approval from dada. Saad’s actions made perfect sense and showed another side of his character which made his character more human. Saad is young and at this moment quite desperate as well therefore when his friend gave him the advice that instead of giving up he should try to fight this battle, he decided to do just that. Since Saad was so sure that Hani loved him therefore the discovery that she is in love with someone she just met came as a rude shock therefore Saad’s latest moves can be termed as impulsive and desperate. I have to say that Uzair Jaswal’s acting tonight however wasn’t as impressive as it was in the previous episodes. There were a few meaningful dialogues in this episode which fit in so well with the current situation yet they didn’t have the same impact because of the way they were delivered and also because the background score didn’t contribute to these scenes in any way.

Shayad Epiosde 5 Review - Unexpected Developments

After this episode, it was difficult to relate to the fact that Hani had no clue that Saad was in love with her mainly because of Saad’s reaction when he found out why Hani had asked for the bangles. Also, the way Saad looked at Hani today and some of the dialogues clearly suggested that he felt something more than just friendship. Saad made his feelings for Hani a little too obvious in this episode yet Hani thought that he was terribly upset because she didn’t tell him about Salar earlier. Also, Salar’s character is turning out to be a little too negative, it has nothing going for it at all therefore one can’t help but wonder why did Hani fall for him and she never questions his strange behaviour. In tonight’s episode when he told Hani that he had no relatives and then went on to say that he had a mother, I was expecting Hani to think about everything he had said or at least question him but it went completely unnoticed. Salar’s character lacks charm and is actually scary therefore it is difficult to relate to Hani’s feelings for him unless the man of Hani’s dreams was a sadist with absolutely no feelings. There was a great deal of focus on Hani’s character in tonight’s episode therefore Sadia Khan’s average performance stood out like a sore thumb. Her dialogue delivery and expressions are misleading and unimpressive.

Saad’s reaction and his desperation was shown convincingly in this episode. So far, Saad is the only reason why I tune into this show every week, he keeps your interest in this drama in general and his track in particular alive. His scene with dada and watching Irfan Khoosat play this role was the highlight of this episode since it turned everything around. Overall however, this episode could have been so much better if some of the actors performed more convincingly and Saad and Hani’s scenes in particular were executed more effectively. This episode also didn’t have the kind of flow which the previous episodes had.

The preview of the next episode showed Saad meeting Salar and later on deciding that he was not going to give up just yet! Looking forward to finding out how far Saad will go to have Hani in his life and will Hani find out that Saad loves her any time soon? I sure do hope so.

Some of these celebrities have gone out of their way to promote these causes even though they are very busy. Mahira Khan is one such celebrity who has been fully committed to the cause of doing whatever she can as an ambassador of Shaukat Khanum. Mahira Khan was chosen as an ambassador for Breast Cancer Awareness Program and she played an active role in causing awareness about the issue. It is no surprise that Mahira Khan has yet again committed herself to the cause.

Mahira Khan is among the three celebrities who have been chosen as the ambassadors for raising awareness about Breast cancer. The other two celebrities are Hadiqa Kiyani and Sanam Saeed. Hadiqa Kiyani is already well known for raising her voice for social causes. Sanam Saeed was a part of this campaign before too.

& the loser of the year award goes to….Emaaaaaad. Woo hoo!!! Wow, I am so impressed by the writer’s mentality here (coughing sarcasm). He has not only treated home-wreckage as something adventurous but has also suggested that home wrecking can serve the purpose of future reconciliation between a divorced pair & I say that because Sameer’s friend suggested Halala so casually that it made me want to puke!

I am amazed that even though Emaad knew all the passes Moomal was making at him were due to the bet she had with Afroz but he chose to believe that his ‘mohabbat’ was coming back to him? I mean in this scenario, a guy should’ve been furious at his wife & friend both. At his wife; for treating him as a betting bait & at his friend; for even thinking so sickly about him but instead, Emaad thought it was his time of glory so he decided to go with the flow because he not only was enjoying it, but also because he thought the illuminator on his cheeks attracted Moomal towards him. He wants Moomal & it is totally clear that he couldn’t get her out of his mind even when he was married to Afroz for these couple of years, so that is why now when the opportunity presented itself, he decided to grab it without a further a due.

I so want to see Afroz’s face when she will fall flat on it. I so want to see her shattered & broken because the so called Emaad whom she trusted blindly wasn’t worthy to begin with & she is the one to be blamed for literally nurturing her husband’s desire of second marriage with so much love. I so hope without making her guilty for going ahead with this bet, Emaad comes clean with Afroz for once that he has always loved Moomal & it wasn’t only because of this bet that he got interested in her but going by how easily he lies to his wife on her face, I am sure he doesn’t have a backbone to profess.

Can someone also tell me the purpose of this purposeless soul Afroz in this drama? Does she really think that such a difficult person like Moomal has moved on & is ready to get married again? I mean Afroz for once needs something to do in her life, some activity or something of that sort to keep herself busy because the way she drools over every other guy as a perfect match for Moomal is hideous. She hardly has two dialogues to speak firstly she has to remind Moomal about the bet & secondly, she has to stop Moomal from leaving, too bad now when the shart is over, her dialogues will be cut down a chunk.

I really thought Sameer was the sane one in this lot & he actually is but to instill the idea of depression-ke-marz-ki-dawa-drinking is sickening. I am actually disgusted to see how drinking is made a part of every other drama these days. They can resort to any other way if they want to show someone down & depressed but to show a man losing his mind because he drank is absolutely disgusting & oh by the way, the sound effects & that bhompoo at the background is so annoying, it makes me lose my mind. Appni taraf se they have added a very elegant, classy & suggestive in an odd manner feel to the whole drama but it is annoying to the core!

I must say if there’s an award made to be given to someone for being a shameless being, hands down it belongs to Moomal. Now when she has won the bet because Emaad was too desperate, if she is blessed with an ounce of self-respect & conscious, she should pack her bags & leave their place right away but seems like she is going to stay. The last thing I wanted to see in this drama were Moomal’s hissy fits but seems like we’ll get to experience more of them in the upcoming episodes. Oh, the way Emaad & Moomal were both at a hill station suggested that they might’ve gotten married & now Moomal was hallucinating or if not, then Sameer must’ve come back to take his wife with him but seems like, like his friend suggested, this drama will also result in a sickening, puke-worthy & blood-boiling Halala scenario because Moomal will obviously go back to Sameer, leaving both Afroz & Emaad devastated. Share your thoughts on this hideous drama please!

Ohkay so, seems like all the desperadoes gathered at one place to make this Shart work but they have fallen flat completely. Till now I do not understand the purpose of this drama because the story is so hideous that it makes me cringe every single time.

I am glad that Sherry aka Desperado was taken care of within these 2 episodes because he didn’t deserve more screen time than that. If they really thought that by showing a confused desperado like him, they’ll be able to bring out some comedy in the serial through his predicament then they were hugely mistaken. His scenes were anything but funny.

More than anyone else, I have started to have doubts about Afroz’s IQ & mental capability because seems like she’s blessed with an attention span of a poodle. Did she really think that by using a cartoon like Sherry, she’ll be able to move Moomal & hitch her up with him? Afroz tries to show that she is Moomal’s well-wisher & wants to see her friend settled down & happy but she really needs to broaden her vision & wisdom as she is only making a fool out of herself. I think now it won’t be so hard for us to see her getting hurt in the end because she herself is inviting all the hardships on her sorry being.

Emaad, on his own is wrong too. Even though he has clearly heard the girls talk about the bet, he is still in a denial & is trying to make sense out of something senseless & baseless scenario. Does he really think that Moomal is interested in him? I really think he is just brain-feeding himself that yes, he is so amazing that Moomal is dying to be with him but then again, it makes me question his IQ as well because even after knowing everything about the BET, he is still thinking on those lines. His self-utterances were nauseating because he actually feels Moomal wants to be a part of his life as much as he wants her to be a part of his. How can even after knowing the truth he can think about convincing Afroz; his wife to allow him to have the luxury of dusri biwi in his life!?!?! He knows clearly that Moomal is playing a game & Afroz is a part of it as well, so why can’t be gather himself & maintain his composure & dignity? Why is he allowing all this to sway him?

Even though Emaad feels guilty & wanted to maintain a distance from Moomal, Afroz didn’t let that happen because she is too focused on the bet that she doesn’t care one bit about what her husband is going through & the battle he is fighting within. Yes, even though Emaad would be wrong to go behind Moomal & fall prey to her trap but I think more than him, Afroz would be at fault & she’ll be the one I’ll put blame on because she gambled her life & put her marriage on stake just for the sake of a soul-less friend which is absolutely ridiculous.

Oh, so it only took a 101⁰ fever & a boss’s refusal for Sameer to get back to his senses where he is missing Moomal. I think Syed Jibran has been wasted in this drama, I mean such a nominal character could’ve been played by someone else because he has nothing much to offer anyways. I think he should go back to Pakistan ASAP to see what his wife is up to & how she is wrecking someone’s home & oh, I just can’t tell how disappointed I am seeing Ayesha Khan play such an awkward role. This lady has a reputation & a good one at that, so why did she put it at stake to appear in such a drama? I really thought she knew better than this. Share your thoughts please.

LOL! If you’re seriously looking to kill some time & want to watch a drama that makes no sense whatsoever, you can tune to Shart every Friday night because this drama has a similar pattern which is pretty much on the loop for now & this drama isn’t offering much because seems like they have nothing to show in the first place.

All the episodes of Shart are almost similar where they show us similar scenes every single time but in a different light. Every episode has a conversation of Afroz & Moomal about the bet they’re involved in. Every episode shows a scene or two about how hard Sameer is trying & the hard time he’s getting because of his boss. Every episode shows a cringe worthy scene where Emaad is eyeing Moomal & is on a trip of his own. Every episode shows a scene where Moomal is flirting with Emaad. Every episode shows how regretful Moomal is. Every episode shows Afroz laughing like a fool at the misery that’s about to overcome her life & then after every couple of episodes they show us a new character who makes an entry to impress Moomal & is so desperate that he puts all the desperado of the Earth, to shame.

Well, before Emaad was firing his staff, he should’ve fired Moomal instead because he pretty much knows she is making shameless passes at him & when people suss that, they talk about it so why was it so hard for Emaad to accept the fact that people are getting such vibes from both of them? Or even if not from Emaad, then from Moomal for sure? Looks like he will also end up firing Afroz out of his life once she will speak about him & Moomal in the same context!

To be honest, I felt sick when I heard Emaad say this was more like an ‘imtehaan’ for him after he unwillingly eavesdropped on both Moomal & Afroz. Well, I’ve got news for you Mr. Shiny Emaad, this is no imtehaan, this is a crystal clear situation where you are supposed to makes some changes in your life. Why is it so hard for him to just chuck Moomal out of his home? Yes, he is considering that but then looking at the way Afroz is hell bent on ruining her life, she will talk him out of it but then again, Afroz is a very flexible person who follows & believes what everyone else says or does, so it shouldn’t be a problem for Emaad to make a decision with finality about Moomal. I believe IF – after he has heard correctly what Moomal & Afroz spoke about, he doesn’t maintain a distance from Moomal then he is pretty much following the proverb which says ‘fasla na rakhain, pyaar hone dain’.

Did they really think that we’ll find Moomal (read Ayesha Khan) cute in such a bizarre portrayal of a home-wrecker? What makes it more difficult is the way she tries to act as if she’s in touch with her conscience by reminding Afroz time & again about how much she doesn’t want her to lose? The whole situation of this drama is so bizarre that it’s not even funny but I must ask, was Ayesha Khan so desperately looking for a work that she chose whatever gibberish came her way?

Oh so Sherry alias Desperado was absolutely annoying. This guy had no self-respect & even not even much brains to make a little more inquiry about Moomal before even asking her out on a dinner date? How much time it must’ve cost him to ask questions like who Moomal was, where did she come from? What was happening in her life & stuff like that? The whole dinner scene was really hideous where Emaad was having a moment of glory just because Moomal was point blank refusing to communicate normally with Mr. Desperado. It looked like Emaad felt victorious that Moomal was saving herself for him & it for sure was absolutely annoying.

I think Sameer’s track is totally one dimensional & has nothing to offer at all. Looking at Sofia saying that he isn’t focused & he isn’t fit to become a project head was totally unexpected because if there’s any person who treats his career as a priority is Sameer. What more proof does Sofia need when Sameer has staked his personal life just to shape up his career? Yes, they’re trying to show that Sameer is pretty much rattled deep within just because of Moomal’s absence in his life but then the events don’t make it seem convincing at all. Sameer just flipped out & got demotivated because he lost the project he was so eagerly working on so if Sofia wants to put a blame on someone, she should do that on herself because she made Sameer like that & his personal life has got nothing to do with his performance at work.

This episode didn’t offer anything new at all & in fact had quite a lot of mistakes when it came to the continuity in their dressing which makes it hard to follow the flow of scenes. Afroz was dressed in a blue & white kurta throughout the dinner & even in the succeeding scene where she conversed about the bet. Later, the same night probably a few minutes after that conversation, when she appeared after Emaad eavesdropped; she was seen wearing a beige/pink kurta? Similar thing happened with Moomal as well, where they showed it a single day at office & she was seen wearing a black & pink/red kurta & makes an appeal for the employee’s increment. Later, when Emaad is looking at her through the CCTV, she was dressed in something entirely different & after that when she comes back from the office, she was again wearing the same black/pink/red kurta that she wore before? It actually looked like it was a new day where she was gesticulating to make Emaad smile? I know all these things can be ignored but they do show the amount of interest the drama-making team had while filming this drama & it also showcases the lack of attention to detail. Ohkay so, even though the story for now is hideous, the direction is still better & that makes it easier to watch. More than the current situation, I am interested in finding out what happens by the end of the betting period because I really want to see what their reactions will be & what would’ve transpired by then.

Just because Moomal hates to lose, she is ready to keep the guilt pangs aside & is willing to stay focused on her motive, which is to draw Emaad towards her & that is completely ridiculous. She knows what it feels like when your marriage falls apart but still she is ready to take that chance to prove something to Afroz. Why does Moomal forget that both Emaad & Afroz are her best friends & are those people who have helped her in the lowest point of her life, but just because her brain is small & her ego is bigger, she is doing something completely wrong? Moomal should know that this trait of hers to win every single time has taken her nowhere & she has ended up losing everything she has ever loved, so why doesn’t she take this as an opportunity to rectify herself? At one hand she poses to be a lot more shattered but on the other, she knows what her problem is but chooses to overlook it? Even though they have shown us plenty of times how Moomal feels bad about what she is doing but then she was the one who proposed this bet to Afroz, she was the one who instigated all this & she was the one who couldn’t see how her best friend Afroz was madly in love with her husband & trusted him blindly, so none of her guilt pangs compensate for what she is doing & none of it make her look innocent.

Even though what Moomal is doing is wrong but the way Emaad is taking all that is a lot shadier. Does he really think that by ignoring his wife & by giving an undivided attention to a girl who is suffering from heartbreak, he is actually helping her? Only Emaad knows deep down what he feels for Moomal so he has a lot more reasons to maintain a safe distance from her because for him, Afroz should be everything & a centre of his universe but sadly, his orbits have shifted. Even though it may seem that he is only trying to help Moomal but he should also be aware of the fact that he may be giving some wrong signals & especially the mental state in which Moomal is, she is a lot more vulnerable & he can unintentionally fall for him, so he should really know where to draw a line. He has started to lie to Afroz because of Moomal, he is doing things which he doesn’t usually do because of Moomal & when he is around Moomal, he forgets about everything else, so I think he should really gather himself & go back to where he actually belongs. While saying I love you to Afroz, more than he was telling it to her, he was actually reminding himself about his responsibilities. The thing I hated the most was that even though he only is trying to help Moomal & even though he doesn’t know about the bet yet, after receiving some fishy signals from Moomal, he was actually trying to give a meaning to all this. He still referred to Moomal as his ‘mohabbat’ while Afroz was right next to him, so his love confession to Afroz seemed nothing but a farce because he himself knows he doesn’t mean all that as he is pretty much in love with Moomal; his ‘friend’, till date.

Instead of giggling at what Moomal is doing, Afroz should be a little more attentive & concerned because till now, Emaad hasn’t spoken to her about the passes Moomal has been making on him. Yes, Afroz trusts her husband which is good but then she should be a tad bit worried about the transparency that is missing between her & her husband. This is a clear signal for Afroz that Emaad keeps things from her because if he was actually honest & sincere, he would’ve told everything to Afroz right away so I don’t understand where does she get such a confidence from because if Afroz was a little more brainy, she could’ve sensed something odd in the way Emaad has been behaving lately. She might really think that Moomal is not her match & Moomal won’t be able to snatch Emaad away from her but when it comes to Emaad, what gives her such a strong belief in him? Yes, they both do have a healthy relation but as it comes across, Afroz has done some wrong calculations there.

Seems like Sameer has started to feel the absence of Moomal in his life but that is only because he failed at a small thing. Just because he couldn’t get what he wanted & he couldn’t prove himself to his boss, he started thinking about his wife Moomal. I really hope for the sake of Sameer being away from the mess, he starts doing extremely well in his career & gets so busy that he doesn’t get a time to think about Moomal because she has found an activity for herself too that is keeping her a lot busy!

Moomal obviously comes from a dysfunctional background where her father remarried & he estranged her just because she wanted to get married to Sameer & may be this is why she clearly has some physiological issues but that doesn’t mean she makes her best friends face the brunt of it. She has lost Sameer & she should be a lot more cautious because she could lose both Afroz & Emaad as well. I really don’t understand when Sameer clearly stated that he didn’t love Moomal, why did he accept her proposal? Both the girls in this group formed a new example where they proposed the guys & the guys set an example too by showing submissiveness to the extremely controlling girls & agreeing to marry them while not being in love with them. What a group I must say.

Anyways, so this is what it is. I really hope Emaad chucks Moomal out of his home because I really hope he has heard what’s churning in her mind & how she is playing games with both of them. I really hope he doesn’t fall prey to any of her tactics & saves himself & his marital life from getting ruined. Let’s see what happens next. Share your thoughts please.

I mean like seriously!?!?! This drama is basically promoting home-wreckage as something adventurous that two friends have planned because firstly, they have nothing better to do in their lives, secondly, they are out to prove something to one another & thirdly, because the writer was so bored that he decided to give a new meaning to the whole home wrecking routine that people have never seen before.

Afroz actually wants to restore Moomal’s faith in men-kind & also she wants to prove her notion wrong because according to her, her husband is ‘different’ that is why Afroz has agreed to the most stupid bet of all times that her ‘best friend’ Moomal has proposed. Moomal actually wants to teach Afroz that all men are the same just because she got an unfaithful husband or rather someone who didn’t actually love her, so she finds every single man exactly like Sameer, her husband. What nauseated me was, wasn’t the idea of the bet but the way Moomal was shown setting a trap for Emaad & seeing Afroz helping her friend just because she believes that by the end of the 1 month betting time, she will win & defeat Moomal.

I mean, I am sorry to say but Ayesha Khan looked mentally challenged when she was trying to act all cute just because every single time the arrow she threw hit a bullseye. I don’t understand one thing, all these girls & guys were shown as best of friends so how come they all ended up marrying those who didn’t love each other? Sameer didn’t love Moomal & Emaad was clearly in love with Moomal & not Afroz, so why did they all choose to pair up with those they didn’t love in the first place & by the way, what sort of friendship was this that these people couldn’t read each other’s minds & ended up marrying wrong people oh sorry, wrong ‘friends’!?!?!?!?! It just doesn’t make sense at all.

I really don’t know who is more stupid; Moomal or Afroz because the way Afroz seemed comfortable was actually quite shocking. She believes in her husband more than she believes in herself, which is good but then that makes her look dumb because she has challenged Moomal that she is going to win but then how will she, when she will play along with Moomal & push her husband away from her? The whole idea of discussing this episode seems so downright ridiculous to me right now, lol! It was actually very absurd of her to allow all this to happen right under her nose & she didn’t even get affected by it at all, in fact she looked pretty happy that her husband was falling prey to her best friend’s tactics!?! I mean, is she mentally sane or has she lost her sanity?

Oh & there comes Emaad, flaunting his crystal clear skin but not so clean & clear intentions where he appoints Moomal as a ‘marketing director’ of his firm despite knowing that she was a nagging housewife before & has no experience whatsoever. I understand that Emaad is trying to help her snap out of her depression bout & currently he doesn’t know he is being used as a puppet by the two lady loves of his life but then looks like only on day 1 of the whole bet thingy, he gave in pretty easily & the feelings he had for Moomal were rekindled & he uttered a confession to himself where he regrets not confessing his love to Moomal when he had a chance. I am sure it wouldn’t take much longer for those words to come out of his actual mouth that too in front of Moomal because he has not only started to lie to Afroz because of her, but he is not being honest with his wife as well about how their best friend is hitting on him.

I think the best & the blessed guy in this drama is Sameer because for a change it was good to see him not being a part of this filth that Moomal, Afroz & Emaad have drowned into. Sameer is focusing on his career & he has gotten a perfect partner who will help him advance in his professional life. I must say I last saw Nadia Hussain in Sitamgar & she went expressionless due to heavy dosage of Botox but in this drama, she looks really classy & is acting comfortably as well. So, this is how hideous this drama for now is & I am not sure if it’s going to improve or what but I really am shocked as to how casually the writer has made a joke out of such a serious situation. People have their lives ruined because of such incidents & here is this drama-making team; glamorizing & promoting it to be something that should be taken as lightly as possible? I really hope that the writer has some message by the end by showing that friends shouldn’t be trusted so much or something on those lines because for now, nothing of that sort seems to be happening. Ohkay so, this episode was just ohkay, it wasn’t outstanding but the flow of scenes was tad bit better & I say that because I felt Moomal’s heart-break & her character got a lot more coverage than it should have. I still haven’t been able to form a soft spot for her character may be that’s why I didn’t enjoy seeing how things were revolving around her.

Moomal is down & depressed because of what has happened in her life & I really appreciate what Emaad & Afroz are doing for Moomal because that’s what friends do but I don’t think it’s wise of them to put their life & their relation on hold just so that they can pamper Moomal. I still don’t understand why Afroz is so comfortable with the chemistry both Moomal & Emaad share. Emaad is giving her a lot more importance than required & Afroz doesn’t seem to mind it at all. Yes, we all get it, they are best of friends but I think when two people, who are in love, get married, all the empty spaces are filled automatically where your priorities change. Going by what was shown, it still somehow looks like Moomal is still Emaad’s priority & Afroz is just his partner who stays with him in his home. No matter how liberal or open minded one is, the comfort level between your husband & your female friend would definitely make you uncomfortable but I just don’t understand how can Afroz be so normal & remain unaffected when she can clearly see Emaad giving Moomal the utmost attention & probably the attention she should be getting too.

I don’t understand what Moomal wants. It was clear that she estranged her father to get married to Sameer but when she got him, she suffocated him in such a way that pushed him to find a breather outside this relation too. Previously we heard Sameer saying he wasn’t in love with Moomal to begin with but going by what I saw, he also seemed pretty much in love with Moomal, so what made him change & even if he wasn’t in love with her, what made him give up, in front of her, that he ended up marrying someone he didn’t love?

Obviously what Moomal is going through is hard on her but she needs to understand that when she’d come seeking a shelter in someone’s home & cry her wits out in front of them, they will consciously or unconsciously give her a lot more attention, which now is making her uncomfortable. Moomal has seen how much she means to Emaad & Afroz so it is obvious that they are going to do everything to make her feel better & they are only trying to divert her mind but seems like she has made up her mind to just be unhappy no matter what happens in her life.

I felt that whole ambush therapy session with the chummy psychiatrist was forced & completely unnecessary because it just didn’t make much sense. What he said was something which a person without a degree in psychology can tell too which was that Moomal should be treated like a normal person & she doesn’t need so much sympathy, attention & care. It’s funny how Moomal keeps on talking about what went wrong & what has happened to her but when someone tries to talk to her about the solution rather than the problem, she flips out. Moomal seems like a control freak who even wants to control the words that come out of people’s mouths. She is not immune to listening to others that is why she puts up a show every single time Afroz or Emaad try to talk her out of this misery.

The note at which this episode ended left me in a great deal of a shock. I took Afroz as a wise person who wouldn’t commit any such mistakes but all of a sudden she looked like someone who’s gotten bored of her life & wants a new adventure for which she is ready to forsake her marital life & this was just so expected of Moomal. She literally has no life of her own because she has already ruined hers, so she obviously needs some activity in her life to prove her point of how bechari she is & how bad Sameer was, because of which she is ready to wreck Afroz’s home too. I don’t think this isn’t how you pay back those people who have helped you in your hour of need.

I really wanted the story to shift from Moomal onto someone else but going by the preview, it is obvious that she’s going to be all over the place as she now has a new target to achieve. I hope Sameer outbids her & teaches her a few lessons in life, which she obviously hasn’t even after a failed marriage. Anyways, this was it from my side. I really like Nida Khan’s wardrobe & I still am having a trouble seeing her & Ayesha Khan as age fellows because they just don’t look like it. I tried to ignore talking about the unnecessary skinship in the first episode but now I too think they are taking the comfort level between the friends to a whole new level which is so unrequired & unpleasant to see. They could’ve gone without it because it just wouldn’t have changed anything & it doesn’t contribute to the story in any way. Ohkay so, the writing of Irfan Mughal, direction of Shaqielle Khan & production of Momina Duraid; Shart hit out TV screens on a Friday night & I feel it has had a good start. Obviously, coming from Momina Duraid’s production house, the production value of the drama was speaking for itself. I liked the way the story has begun where a little bit of flashbacks were also made a part of the episode to throw hints about the characteristics of all the characters & their background stories.

The story revolves around two couples who were university friends back in a day. Their group consisted of Moomal (Aisha Khan), Afroz (Nida Khan), Sameer (Syed Jibran) & Emaad (Danish Taimoor) & going by how their scenarios were presented & how candid these guys till date are, it is pretty evident that these guys shared a close-knit bond & were best of friends.

Coll 01

Sameer & Moomal got married a year ago & got settled in Scotland whereas Emaad & Afroz got married 2 years back & are happily settled in Pakistan. In comparison to Emaad & Afroz, Moomal & Sameer have a very dysfunctional marriage where Sameer confesses that he has never loved Moomal but Moomal couldn’t emphasize enough on the fact that she fought hard to be with Sameer as she loves him a lot. Moomal for sure has some insecurities when it comes to her relation because as much as she should trust her husband, she actually doesn’t & the main problem between her & Sameer is due to his boss Sofia (Nadia Hussain) & Moomal can’t tolerate how Sameer gives Sofia a lot more importance than his own wife. Obviously, being a newly wedded girl, Moomal wants Sameer’s undivided attention but seems like for Sameer, his career & his boss is more important & this has made Moomal a lot more uncomfortable & insecure in her life.

On the other hand, Afroz & Emaad celebrate their 2nd anniversary & are completely in love with each other but it was too obvious that Emaad still has some soft corner for Moomal in his heart because no matter how caring Afroz is & how much she loves him, Emaad still thinks about Moomal every now & then. For Afroz her husband & her group of friends are everything & they mean a lot to her because of which she really didn’t seem to mind how candid Emaad got with Moomal at times. Moomal has decided to leave Sameer just so that he can have a break from her that he wants in order to understand how important his wife is. Moomal thinks going away from him for a while will help him reflect on the fact that he cannot live without Moomal but sadly for her, Sameer doesn’t seem to care much because like he said, he wasn’t in love with her in the first place.

Sadly, for Afroz, she really doesn’t know what issues & problems she has welcomed in her home sweet home in the form of Moomal because she already is going through a bad phase of a failed marriage so it’s imperative that she will feel a lot more uncomfortable seeing Emaad & Afroz all happy together. I didn’t find Afroz naive or stupid but I thought she trusts her husband & her friend Moomal a lot more than she should. She really is comfortable in her own little world that she really can’t foresee that Moomal can cause her any sort of harm, which I am pretty sure she would because Moomal clearly has some issues. She is dominating, she is controlling & more than that, she is a pessimist. I felt that Moomal is one of those people who like to blame others for the problems they face whereas she’s the one who should do some thinking & sort things on her own about what she is doing with herself & her life because like Aforz said, she is responsible for ruining everything she has. Yes, Moomal is mentally scattered but even when she was with Sameer, she suffocated him by burdening him with the constant reminders of her love & now when she knows that Emaad only tried to help her out, she blamed him for receiving divorce papers from Sameer just because Emaad told him that Moomal was staying at his home with him & Afroz. Going by how Moomal actually is, it didn’t surprise me much that Sameer didn’t waste a day in moving on with his life & decided to propose a marriage to Sofia who already seems to have been quite impressed by Sameer. I do feel that Emaad & Afroz will definitely get affected by Moomal’s unexpected entry in their lives & their decision of helping her will definitely take a toll on their personal relation because the preview clearly suggested something of that sort.

Anyhow, this is it from the very first episode of Shart. The direction was nice & so was the camerawork & screenplay. All the actors seemed pretty comfortable in their roles but Aisha Khan screamed a lot more than my liking. Yes, Moomal is going through a rough time but I really hope her yelling & shrieking tones down a couple of notches in the episodes to come. The OST is nice only for the title time of the drama but I do mind it being played in the episodes because it is way too loud & doesn’t really compliment the scenes in any way. Sharmistha Chatterjee To Collaborate Again With Meekal Hasan

Sharmistha Chatterjee, an Indian singer who earlier sang with Meekal Hasan Band (MHB) on Coke studio season 8, will be collaborating with MHB once again. Express Tribune reports that she has sung for the band’s album Andholan set to release in Pakistan by end of this year. Besides MHB, Sharmistha Chatterjee has also sung in collaboration with Faraz Anwar and Ahsan Bari with his band Sounds of Kolachi (SoK).

Andholan was originally released in 2014 but not many of the Pakistani people listen to the album at that time. Now MHB is releasing the album under their own record label, Digital Fidelity Studios (DFS).

Although, Indo-Pak collaboration in the current political scenario was tough to make but fortunately Meekal Hassan Band made it possible. Hopefully the joint venture is fruitful for both the singers.
