The first big release of the year ‘Balu Mahi’ which starred Osman Khalid Butt, Ainy Jafferi and Sadaf Kanwal in the lead roles, received mixed reviews. The film with good soundtracks and a lot of buzz was expected to leave a mark but box office is very unpredictable and unfortunately, according to reports the film didn’t well at the box office.
Directed by Haissam Hussain, produced by Sadia Jabbar and Chaudhry Muhammad Arshad with music by Sahir Ali Bagga, the film is currently in it’s sixth week and playing in cinemas.
According to Galaxy Lollywood, Jolly LLB2 performed better at the box office and whatever is the number for Jolly LLB 2, the number for ‘Balu Mahi’ is lower. ‘Jolly LLB 2’ has collected approximately 3.5 crores at the box office (official numbers courtesy Box Office Detail) and ‘Balu Mahi’ has collected somewhere around 2.5- 3 crore. And for a film that has reportedly been made on a budget of 10 crores, the numbers are disappointing to say the least.
The hard work of team Balu Mahi is appreciated and they have surely contributed to the revival of Pakistani cinema, sadly it’s labeled as a flop in Pakistan.

Osman Khalid is a Pakistani actor and writer. He started off as a theater actor and got recognition through his YouTube videos that he used to make under the channel name of ‘The Living Picture Guy’.
Osman Khalid was born on February 9, 1986. He is 31 years old.
Osman Khalid is a son of television actor, director and screenwriter Dr. Khalid Said Butt. Khalid is from Lahore but he along with his entire family settled in Islamabad. His mother belonged to France and she passed away. Osman Khalid is the youngest of 3 children. He has a brother Omar Khalid and sister Michelle Tania Butt. Omar Khalid Butt is a News Anchor and Photographer. Model Rubiya Chauhdry is Osman Khalid’s cousin and appeared in a few of his YouTube videos.
Osman Khalid obtained his Bachelors Degree in TeleCom Engineering from FAST-NU, Islamabad.

Banning an actor sets dangerous example- said Osman Khalid Butt
Butt posted a lengthy note on twitter on this whole controversy. After Momina Duraid swear to never work with actor Firdous Jamal for his comments about Mahira Khan, the actor tweeted about this. In his tweet, he shared his feelings that banning actors for their opinions set a very dangerous example.
“Because than your outrage cannot remain selective.”
Butt took on this matter by saying, “Banning an actor for his opinion, however, distasteful said opinion might be, sets a rather dangerous precedent. Because then your outrage cannot remain selective,” he wrote, reminding his colleagues that they have all been on talk shows where they’ve been asked to rate their peers’ acting skills, fashion sense and personality. “This isn’t the first-time clips have trended where controversial statements have been made, and it won’t be the last.”
“Unless this culture of (consciously or subconsciously) pitting actor against actor ends. If we stop giving fodder to gossip columns, refuse to indulge in these pictorial ‘assessments’, if instead of being at each other’s throats we show a united, welcoming front,” he added further.
And he isn’t suggesting lying through their teeth when it comes to publicly sharing their opinion, but criticism can be constructive instead of flagrantly dismissive, no?
Osman added, “Problematic behavior should and must be called out. But you cannot play at extremes either way.”
He concluded, “And finally, because this is important, I’ll quote something I read on a comic strip once: ‘freedom of speech doesn’t shield you from criticism or consequences.’ Choosing not to work with someone because of their opinions is not a violation of their free speech rights. Dismissing their contribution to our industry, though, is regrettable,”

As per the latest reveals, Sharmeen will soon be coming up with a cartoon movie which is going to target the young audience of not only Pakistan but of the entire world. Coming under the title of ‘Bahadur’, the cartoon movie is expected to make its release in upcoming months.

Osama mentioned that he had to loose a lot of weight and shave his head for his upcoming project. The project is secret till now so he could not revel the details about the project.
Osama Tahir is an emerging actor of the industry who has worked hard and proved himself through his exceptional acting skills in several drama serials.
In a recent interview, he talked about how male actors are required to look good and they are chosen on the basis of their looks.
He shared, “The problem is we are going with a go-to look that he must be white, have spotless skin, beard and good hairstyle. All of these things are required in male actors. Sometimes when I have been considered it’s due to my looks because my complexion is white. Due to this, many boys copy this go-to look to get work. I understand that.”
“The problem is you all end up looking same and how will you look different? I said all this because your talent matters. If you are not a talented actor then work on it, do practice and make your own identity.”
Osama Tahir took names of top Pakistani actors like Fawad Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ahsan Khan and said that they all fit in a box and their look is go-to look like their hairstyle and beard.
“Then Fahad Mustafa came and changed the definition and he has said that in an interview that he didn’t get work due to his skin colour. Ahad Raza Mir is not a typical good looking guy but he is a good looking guy in different way. So slowly the trend is changing but it still exists and will take a lot of time,” Osama Tahir added.
Osama Tahir also talked about nepotism in the Pakistani entertainment industry and how he feels about getting discriminated as he doesn’t have any contacts.
He said, “Initially it makes you angry because nobody gives you chance and listen to you but what I like is that I gave auditions, I worked hard and then I got dramas and films. Even for the film ‘Chalay Thay Saath’, I was not their first choice. They wanted a leading actor and already known face but I went and auditioned and based on that I got work. Initially, I wanted that I must have some contacts but then without any contact, it motivated me to work harder.”
