More About Sana Javed’s Debut Film

We know that Sana Javed will be making her debut with first-time director Aamir Mohiuddin’s film which is expected to release across Pakistani cinemas in August.

Sana Javed has now revealed that the other actors that will be seen in the movie are the very talented Gohar Rasheed and Bilal Ashraf. Gohar Rasheed has appeared in numerous dramas and films. On TV, we have seen him in some very popular dramas including Goya, Digest Writer, Shikwa, Aitraaz and the latest – Mann Mayal, where viewers loathe him as Mikail. On the big screen, Gohar Rasheed has appeared in Seedlings, Main Hoon Shahid Afridi, 021 and Jawani Phir Nahe Ani (cameo appearance).
I think we will be seeing a lot of Bilal Ashraf this year because he is part of many upcoming films including the much anticipated Janaan.

Talking to Dawn Images, the director of this film shared, “It is a film based on music, in which we are exploring the contrast between classical qawwali and modern pop music. A love story will join the
contrast.”

We wish the team all the best!

More About Dobara Phir Se

0

Mehreen Jabbar’s much anticipated film, Dobara Phir Se was expected to come out on Eid ul Fitr, but in a recent interview with Express Tribune, Mehreen Jabbar shared that the film is in the post-production stage.

“We are planning to release it now in August, but are yet to make an official announcement. Eid release dates had never been announced in the first place. The post-production is still in progress.”

IMG_20160613_003015

Usually, filmmakers are very enthusiastic when it comes to promoting their films (remember the promotion of Ho Mann Jahan?) but we haven’t seen promotional campaigns of Dobara Phir Se. Mehreen Jabbar shared, “The promotions will commence towards the end of the month and we are hoping to create a good buzz around the film. Which film-maker wouldn’t want his/her film to succeed commercially? I, along with the cast, the film crew and the producers would want DBS to be appreciated, and do really well.”

According to Mehreen Jabbar, the film is about relationships, friendships and finding one’s way in life.

Pictures-from-the-set-of-Dobara-Phir-Se-23

Atiqa Odho is also part of the cast and she is playing the role of a mother and mother in law. She praised Mehreen Jabbar for keeping things simple and real. “Mehreen is not driven by commercial cinema. She likes to show the story the way she wants to tell it, without adding unnecessary masala. She likes to keep the flavour intact by depicting reality-based situations … there are real life scenarios sans exaggeration.”

While everyone in the industry is going on and on about the ‘revival of Pakistani cinema’ , Atiqa Odho is not very happy with this so-called revival. “It’s a sad state of affairs and I am certainly not proud to say that a so-called ‘cinema revival’ has taken place. In India, film-making is a massive industry supporting the household of every individual associated with it. This is a trade and the government needs to promote it.”

More About ”Yalghaar”

0

Directed by Hassan Rana, produced by Waqas Butt and written by Haider Rizvi, Yalghaar is a much anticipated war-epic film, based on the true story of Pakistan Army’s Swat Operation.
Yalghaar boasts an ensemble cast including Shan Shahid, Humayun Saeed, Adnan Siddiqui, Armeena Khan, Ayesha Omer amongst others.

Talking to Express Tribune, director Hassan Rana revealed, “The rough cut is ready and we are now working on the post-production for Yalghaar, mainly the visual effects (VFX) and sound design. We are currently uploading the film on the servers after which production companies from four different countries will work on it.”

IMG_20160616_215754

“Minor post-production will also be done in Turkey and Bangkok. The sound design, on the other hand, would take place at Skywalker Sound in the US.”

IMG_20160616_215820

As far as the release dates are concerned, since the film follows the operation led Pakistani Army and boosts patriotism, “A lot of the people have recommended releasing Yalghaar either on August 14 or September 6 as it would complement the movie’s theme. We can only begin marketing and promotions for the movie once we have the Digital Cinema Package (DCP) in our hands, so a July release at this point does not seem possible.”

Moray Saiyaan Episode 17 Review – The End!

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was the last episode that I saw & will review. Do I have an issue with any hero in any drama dying? NO! Then what must be the reason that I am going to stop tuning to this play? It is because this drama wasn’t what I was promised it to be. I tuned to this drama because I wanted some refreshing & light-hearted entertainment but as the episodes progressed by it started becoming bothersome & burdensome to tune to it because of the snail pace & the way the story was going around in circles. I don’t remember the last time I saw any progress in this story which is filled with a bunch of overly egoistic & dramatic people who don’t know what the art of forgiving is. The only good thing rather ‘light’ thing about this drama was the character of Ghaziyan so with his character not being a part of the drama anymore leaves no reason for me to tune to it!

So, everyone in this episode was seen shedding tears over Ghaziyan’s accident & they were praying for his recovery. To be honest, I knew all the scenes were going to be so heavy-hearted & boring that I forwarded most of them because there was neither anything ‘new’ about the reactions of the characters nor the situation that the characters were facing.

Dr. Farah had a lot of faith in her husband but he tried his level best. I think Dr. Farah’s character was kept in the drama aimlessly & just when the producers thought that they were paying her for hovering around the set for no good reason, they decided to put her to good use by making her the reason behind Ghaziyan meeting an accident. Farah’s guilt was understandable but ummm, at this stage of the drama, I am not interested!

Zubaria got the last chance to share her feelings with Ghaziyan & just then & there, he passed away. After that, it was impossible for the episode to grab my attention so I once again forwarded most of the scenes. It was ridiculous how in such a situation, Zakia once again found a chance to spew venom against Zubaria. I know Zakia hates Zubaria & she used this opportunity to once again make it clear to her what Zakia thinks of her but I really think the writers need to be a little more careful in writing the dialogues in these kind of situations because this is something that our society highly & staunchly believes in that if something bad happens, it is because of a girl/wive’s kismat? I think we can expect our writers of this day & age to write something better & sensible because hearing these dialogues again & again & again makes no sense & rather reinforces the concept that a girl is the reason of anyyyy problem that the guy faces, which definitely is NOT the case. Also, with the writer being a female herself, I most certainly expected better from her.

Anyways, I am done with this play because I am sick of seeing Zubaria’s roni shakal. I am wondering that when this girl had ALL the reasons to smile & be happy, she was so stone faced & depressed, so I can’t even begin to imagine now that she has lost her husband, how she will be in the rest of the drama. The preview was ridiculous where they showed that Zubaria’s going to find out that she is expecting & Zakia will get all the more reasons to taunt & torture so I think ye boring characters aur boring story wala drama writer ko hi mubarik ho because I am done. Uzair Jaswal & Neha Rajpoot have a bright future in the industry ahead but they definitely should work a lot harder on their acting. In a drama like Moray Saiyaan where the rest of the lot was filled with expressionless, boring, negative & lifeless characters, Uzair & Neha’s mediocre, rather below average acting didn’t stick out like a sore thumb but I think if they get to sign a good story based drama with a substantial character in the future, then this level of acting would only ruin the drama for the viewers so they should definitely work harder. The only actor who really stood out the most was Kinza Hashmi, she is really good. Anyways, please share your thoughts about the last episode of Moray Saiyaan!

ps: Phew! I am feeling so good to know that I’ll be having Torture-Free Tuesdays from now on! Yuppiiieeee!!!

Moray Saiyaan Episode 16 Review – Light-hearted Much?

Ohkay so, just when I thought that if Ghaziyan will make it I will continue watching this drama, the preview of the next episode sealed the deal that he is probably going to die so I think after next week I won’t have any reason to tune to this drama because Ghaziyan’s character was the saving grace of Moray Saiyaan & now when he isn’t going to be a part of the journey anymore, then there’s no reason to watch this drama either!

It is amusing that all the things I have said about Zubaria are proving to be right. It is just beyond me that why this young girl is so sad & unhappy when everything in her life is working out. The entire portrayal of Zubaria’s guilt because she & her husband practiced the rights of being legally married was absolutely bizarre like the entire episode was dedicated to her caterwauling & it was annoying. I can’t believe that Zubaria’s character has been reduced to this level where it is hard to even tolerate her. I can’t count how many times I forwarded her scenes because I can’t see another copy of Zakia. For me, Zubaria is another Zakia in the making & I am saying no, thank you!

The only good thing about this episode was that it only had 1 scene of Zakia which I forwarded as well just after I heard Waris & his concerns. It is good that finally he has understood how he is punishing his own son because of his psychotic sister. I think probably for the first time in his life, Waris took a step in the right direction where he gave a verdict that he wouldn’t care anymore if Zakia won’t budge.

It is amusing that this has turned into one such drama where loopholes stand out more than the actual story. Farah & Ghaziyan met an accident & I wonder where was Altamash all this while that he not only took a flight & made it to the hospital just when Ghaziyan got admitted too? I really want to know which Airlines provide such a fast flight to the passengers, it would make travelling a lot easier for me , so if anyone knows please let me know, thanks!

While Zubaria was mourning the happening of such a nominal thing, she finally earned herself a reason to mourn for the rest of her life because Ghaziyan is eventually going to die. I can’t emphasize enough how hard it has become to tolerate a stone-faced girl like Zubaria who despite having alllllllll the reasons to be happy just doesn’t know how to smile!

I think next episode is probably going to be the last episode that I am going to watch of Moray Saiyaan because after Ghaziyan, I ain’t interested in the zulm o sitam that Zubaria will face & the incessant mourning that she will resort to. Zubaria wanted a reason to be unhappy, bitter & sad, she finally got one so I think I am going to leave this drama at that note & once again, I am quite amused that I was personally told by the writer that this drama is going to be a ‘light-hearted entertainment’, seriously, things we’re promised & the things we’re shown! Also, can I just add how cringe-worthy the conversations between Ghaziyan & Zubaria discussing their personal affair were! Anyways, please share your thoughts about the 2nd last episode (for me) of Moray Saiyaan!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 15 – Just Alright!

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was good because the focus was on Ghaziyan & Zubaria, something which should’ve been the case right from the beginning. However, I had my fair share of eye rolling because a few scenes of the other characters were unconvincing & off-putting.

I remember in one of the previous episodes, it was suggested that Anas was living with Kabeer when they both weren’t in Pakistan, but this time around, there was a disconnect in Anas’ tone when he was talking about his father, as if he never lived with him or didn’t know him much. I think in order to stretch & fill the number of episodes, they have relied so much on unnecessary scenes & conversations that all those things are now emerging as loopholes & glaring ones at that.

I know Ghaziyan & Zubaria are married & everything that Ghaziyan did for her was sweet but all this while, I kept on wondering what has gone into Zubaria that she is perfectly alright with the fact that her father & her brother are in the dark & have no idea that she is living on her own in a house gifted by Ghaziyan? Yes, they are married & Ghaziyan can do everything for Zubaria but to live in such a huge house all by herself that too without informing her own family didn’t sit well with me because Zubaria was introduced as someone who was far more conscious of what was right & what her father’s opinion about every little thing would be. Also, when it comes to being a single parent, fathers are always a bit too cautious about their daughters, so I find it amusing that Zubaria’s father is perfectly alright with being oblivious of what his daughter is upto, whereas he should’ve been the one worrying about the stuff like his daughter’s hostel etc.

Anyways, it was nice to see Ghaziyan & Zubaria sharing a few good moments together, where they decorated the house & Ghaziyan was taking care of every thing to make her feel comfortable at her new space. It is good to see that Zubaria has finally opened up & is far more comfortable with Ghaziyan, like now she realizes & acknowledges how much Ghaziyan has done for her & her family, so it is nice to see for a change.

It was amusing seeing such a tough cookie like Jamshed crying like a baby but just when I was assuming that he must’ve had a change of heart, his conversation with his wife took me by surprise because after failing at his business once, he is just using Ghaziyan now as he knows that he is resourceful & well-established. It is alright to think about yourself & your business but the way Jamshed shared his views gave a very negative feeling & made me dislike this couple a little more.

Another filler track in this drama is of Dr. Altamash & Dr. Farah, like I don’t really understand what is it that is stopping both of them from living together? Are they telling us that there is no need for gynecologists in the country where Altamash is a practicing neurosurgeon? LOL! Yes, they both are shown as ambitious doctors but it is hard to understand that after marriage, they both are in a long-distance relationship because of what, them being doctors? LOL! I really think so far both Altamash & Farah’s characters haven’t contributed much in the story, so if they had omitted these characters, it wouldn’t have made any difference like the viewers wouldn’t have felt the need for another dysfunctional couple. After their conversation, I was wondering if there is any relation, any couple, any human being who is normal in this family? I don’t think so!

Anas’ conversation with his mother made a lot of sense, obviously he is sick of seeing his mother sulking & telling others to sulk with her too. I really don’t understand why does Waris has to swoop in every other conversation like he is going to pass a verdict whereas all he does is put a lid on the conversation that is happening as if nothing needs to be addressed & everything in this family is perfectly alright? LOL! Someone needs to burst Waris’s bubble of his family being perfectly functional because it is not & also because it makes him look like a pigeon who shuts its eyes & thinks the danger is over!

Anyways, this episode was still better because it had a lot of Ghaziyan Zubaria scenes. The preview of the next episode suggests that Ghaziyan is going to meet an accident that too after fighting with Zubaria. I really hope the story that I have heard doesn’t turn out to be true because if that’s the case then I will have to see if I’d be interested in tuning to this drama ever again or not. Also, can someone tell Irsa Ghazal to stop yelling? Her voice gets intolerable when she hits the high pitch! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan!

Cheers,

Moray Saiyaan Episode 14 Review – Bothersome!

Ohkay so, honestly speaking the interest that I had in this drama is subsiding real quick because the story isn’t moving forward & the scenarios have been repeated so many times that I have completely lost track of how many times similar things have been shown. When I signed up to watch Moray Saiyaan, I was interested in the characters & the relationship of Ghaziyan & Zubaria but I never knew that the main hero & heroine of this drama are going to be Zakia & Kabeer lol & the world will be revolving around them. I seriously think I am going to give this drama a couple of chances more & if it still doesn’t do much in terms of progress then I will stop watching it altogether & unfortunately, the preview of the next episode didn’t entice me much!

Just when I was getting put off with Zubaria’s forlorn face, I sighed with relief when Ghaziyan told her to not be so stern with him by ordering him around to be serious all the time. Honestly speaking, I have yet to meet a couple so young, like in their early 20’s or a bride of Zubaria’s age who finds it hard to even smile & be happy in her life. Zubaria has everything going for her, she has a supportive father, an access to good education, a very loving husband & now a very considerate father in law, so I am not sure what is it that makes Zubaria so unhappy that she has to keep that forlorn expression pasted on her face throughout the episode. Make no mistake, the girl playing the role of Zubaria is pretty but you just can’t stare at a pretty face with no expressions & zero smile all the time because it gets on your nerves & the character of Zubaria is ticking me off big time!

I got a spoiler alert in one of the previous reviews, even though I deleted it but I got to read it & now when I hear Ghaziyan talking so casually about the flowers on his grave & not having any wish to live a long life & also questioning Zubaria what if something happens to him, so I really am forced to think if we have a sad ending of this couple in store for us because if that’s going to be the case then I am not sure about the purpose of this drama? I was told by the writer that the drama-makers wanted to provide a light-hearted entertainment for the viewers but now I am wondering if it was just a bait for the viewers to keep going with this drama because after 14 episodes, this drama is everything but light-hearted!

Please don’t tell me that Zakia, a woman probably in her late 40’s or early 50’s is getting jealous of a newly wedded couple in their early 20’s, like seriously? I rolled my eyes every time I saw her looking at Ghaziyan & Zubaria with jealousy overflowing through her eyes. This woman has gotten a lot of screen-time, a lot of coverage & it is getting burdensome to watch. Also, are they trying to imply that Anas & his wife were on such a long honeymoon that his wife fell pregnant during that time & still doesn’t want to come back? LOL! Well, I don’t blame her, she has seen Zakia at her worst (which is always) so who would want to be around such a toxic & negative woman!

So, Ghaziyan & Zubaria are trying everything to bring Kabeer & Zakia together, to some extent it worked but I am sure now that Zakia has seen Zubaria & Waris having a conversation where Waris was treating her as a family member, she would stick around, not wanting to give Ghaziyan, Zubaria & Waris the satisfaction of being together like a happy family. She once again went on with her rants & before her noise could pollute my TV lounge, I deemed it better to forward that entire scene. It is sickening to see a woman like Zakia getting so much of screen-time & so much of importance, like she is such a woman who has a problem with every single person around her, so I think everyone should leave her alone to sulk because she finds solace in that!

The entire scenario about Jamshed missing & his wife caterwauling was just so uninteresting that I don’t even feel like talking about that. It is good that they showed us some sweet moments between Ghaziyan & Zubaria & I do agree that they are cute & stuff but to see them romancing & taking selfies in a graveyard left a bad taste in the mouth. Some places are meant to be respected irrespective of the fact if they are being visited in real or reel life, so I really wish they had shown some consideration before planning to shoot a scene of Ghaziyan & Zubaria getting chummy with each other & clicking pictures while standing over someone’s grave! Anyways, I am totally unhappy & not impressed with the way the story has moved forward, like it is getting bothersome to tune to Moray Saiyaan to say the least. Pretty cast & beautiful locations were the saving grace of this drama but not anymore! Please share your thoughts about this episode.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 13 Review – Slow But Better!

Even though this episode was better than the previous episode but now when it has finished & I look back, I find no development in the story. They have stopped taking the story forward & are bent on proving how egoistic Zakia is. I think at this stage, all those that are following this drama pretty much know each & everything about the characters & their nature, so I am not sure why the same thing is being spoon-fed to the viewers again & again & again. Even though they tried to add some dramatic event in this episode, it looked nothing like a filler because the story on the whole did not move forward!

Nimra left & before leaving she for the last time tried to make her mother understand how she was only punishing herself with her bitterness. Zakia even felt that Anas’s wife was being selfish by choosing to go on a honeymoon, like Zakia wants everyone to ruin their lives for Nimra’s sake & shouldn’t do anything that makes them happy. It is Nimra who didn’t get married but Anas & his wife are newly weds, but looks like Zakia is even having a hard time accepting the fact that there are two members of this miserable family that are happy.

Zubaria’s hostel caught fire & Ghaziyan got a chance to rescue her. He brought her to his home & just because Zakia saw them having a conversation, she assumed that they were planning to throw her out, talk about being paranoid to the core. Zakia is not only egoistic but she is paranoid as well. It was hilarious how after getting brain-fed by his sister Waris walked in arrogantly, as if he came to pass a verdict but then ended up saying nothing because even he understood that Ghaziyan had a point & there was no reason to take Zubaria anywhere else when he had his own home where she as his wife could stay.

Zubaria started having some normal conversations with Ghaziyan but I would’ve liked more if their conversations didn’t revolve around Kabeer & Zakia. Zubaria tried to make Zakia understand & even apologized but she chose not to budge because she has nothing else in her life to do. Zakia’s only motive in life is to turn every other person into a miserable soul who has nothing to do with happiness or normalcy in their lives. Just like Zakia expects people to mourn the bechargi & phooti kismat of Nimra, she wants people to do the exact same thing for her too. Zubaria out of frustration & in order to prove how important Zakia is, made a promise to her that she won’t step in this house till the time Zakia will ask her to, which now looks like never ever again!

The preview of the next episode didn’t entice me enough because looks like we’ll be seeing some mid-life romance/cat fight between Kabeer & Zakia, euuu!!! Also looks like something is going to happen to Jamshed which Afshan will blame Ghaziyan for? I think now they have brought the drama to a very situational level where every single time new situation arises & they end up overcoming it in that particular episode, that would’ve seemed justified if while still doing that, they were moving the story forward too, but since that is not happening, the drama is becoming boring to watch. I really think they need to move the story forward quickly & most importantly, they need to cut down on the coverage that Zakia & her paranoia gets. Moray Saiyaan Episode 12 Review – Repetitive & Boring!

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was once again quite slow & to be honest, this was the first time when I tried to cut short most of the scenes & conversations by forwarding them because everything was way too repetitive & boring. I think the worst mistake the director has done so far is slowing down the pace of this drama because it doesn’t have much happening in it in the first place, so in dramas like these, the best way to keep the interest of the viewers alive is to maintain the pace but it has slowed down so much that nothing is looking interesting at this stage. All the tracks have become way too one-dimensional & there isn’t much happening!

I liked Nimra’s approach, at first, seeing her forlorn face did put me off but she redeemed herself when she announced that she will be going abroad to pursue her sports career. Nimra is the only one who is acts like a sane & normal person in this family of paranoid & egoistic people. She is going through a heart break & she knew that she had to do something in order to overcome everything. At least Nimra knows, that if she will continue to live in a toxic company of her mother, she will never be able to deal with her pain. I have no idea how long it will take Zakia to understand that Nimra made the right decision & she was entitled to do that. Zakia thinks Nimra has disappointed her by not getting married, but it is so good to see that Nimra had & has a life apart from marriage & now she is ready to work on it. Zakia is someone who herself has had a disastrous married life, so not sure what makes her think that getting married to a guy like Ghaziyan who didn’t love Nimra would’ve guaranteed her a lifelong happiness.

To be honest, I am getting tired of seeing everyone being so paranoid & egoistic in this drama. Zakia, Kabeer, Waris, to some extent Zubaria, Zubaria’s Bhabhi, Anas & now Jamshed? When I started watching this drama, I was promised by the writer that this was going to be a ‘light-hearted entertainment’ but sorry, as the episodes are passing by, everyone is looking like an angry bird to me. Jamshed’s concerns are right but when he has already has a conversation about how things unfolded on the day of Zubaria’s Nikkah, then there is no need for him to make weird faces inspired by his wife, every time he sees Ghaziyan or Zubaria.

Yes, I agree, the track & the characters of Ghaziyan & Zubaria are the main reason why I tune to this drama but sadly, nothing’s happening in their lives too, also sadly they both get such limited screen-time, most of which is filled with Zubaria throwing tantrums at Ghaziyan & Ghaziyan trying to prove his love & himself to his wife, which once again is getting a little tedious & repetitive to watch. In the beginning, when I saw Zubaria smiling at Ghaziyan’s phone call, I thought we’d see some meaningful conversations happening between them but once again, first half of their dialogues were filled with how Zubaria was tired of Ghaziyan’s immaturity & the second half was filled with how she was getting late & how she needed a taxi. Can we move on please?

I find it funny that the writer & the director took 12 episodes to reveal that Altamash is a free-bird, whereas he seemed like a very mature & groomed person, who was quite responsible, but hearing Kabeer say that he doesn’t value his relationships was a shocker. All this while, I thought he was attending some medical conference outside Pakistan & would be returning but to hear Kabeer say all these things made no sense & actually made me laugh. It is actually quite amusing that 99.99% of the characters are fillers in this drama & sadly, they consume 99.99% of the screen time which is making it a little boring to tune to. I am sure the way Anas didn’t contribute much to the story, Altamash doesn’t have a pandora box of contribution either, so at this stage, I am not even looking forward to what his character has to offer!

I really think ARY should give Moray Saiyaan an App Ke Liye treatment & they should start airing it twice a week because that would help with the pace & move the story forward quickly. Hope Anas is having a time of his life at his honeymoon, lol, so much of curiosity was built over nothing. Kabeer-Gul Zeb, Waris-Zakia, Zakia-Nimra, Ghaziyan-Zubaria – all these conversations were just so repetitive like it made me feel that I could watch this episode on mute & would still understand what they would be talking about because they have nothing else or new to talk about. Yes, the dialogue about Altamash was something new but definitely not good! The preview of the next episode didn’t entice me enough because seems like Zubaria is going to put the ball in Zakia’s court & will pledge to spend her entire life on Zakia’s mercy. Zakia is someone who gave up on her husband & till date spews venom against him, so I guess we all should congratulate Zubaria for dropping kulhaari on her feet & also for winning herself a life-long-distance relationship with Ghaziyan. Moray Saiyaan Episode 11 Review – Interesting Turn of Events!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was quite interesting & even though everything that happened was quite unexpected, but it was done convincingly & appropriately. I really hope that the drama-makers don’t drag the drama from this stage & end it in a decent number of episodes because the pace of the drama is somewhat slow already, so slowing it down further won’t help actually. I think a chunk of every single episode is dedicated to the family issues which haven’t been explained till date, so it would be better to omit those conversations, or elaborate those issues which they keep on discussing repeatedly, on the loop, continuously, without any pauses!

So, Nimra decided to call it quits as she knew that Ghaziyan wasn’t happy with everything that was happening, but Nimra not only said no, she also made sure that Ghaziyan gets what he wants. Nimra already knew that if she & her father won’t make it happen this day, then Ghaziyan will have to suffer a lot more as Zakia wouldn’t allow what he wants. It was good to see that Nimra not only convinced her father, but also requested him to speak to Zubaria’s father about her Nikkah with Ghaziyan. Even though everything that Zubaria’s father heard caught him off-guard but he gave in because he has met Ghaziyan a few times & in those meetings, Ghaziyan left such a good impression on Zubaria’s father that he had no reason to say no. The more I think of it, the more I feel it was such a blessing in disguise that Zakia wasn’t attending this family function, lol!

Finally, Ghaziyan & Zubaria officially got married, they became a couple & I actually had a good time seeing Ghaziyan’s excitement & Zubaria’s act of not being happy, whereas she was subtly smiling to herself because of everything that was happening in their favor. Even though Zubaria ended up agreeing to the promise that her father made & the decision he took for her, but I really like the fact that she is so dignified where she is still standing by her stand. Even though, from this day onward, Zubaria has no reason to be stern but she doesn’t want to give Ghaziyan an edge to believe that he can treat her as his wife & expect her to treat him as her husband. Everything that has been happening & has happened in the past is already too hard for Zubaria to cope up with, therefore it seems understandable that she is taking her time & is still thinking things through. Yes, Ghaziyan has gotten what he wanted, he has got the love of his life, but Zubaria is definitely going to make him realize that he still has to win her over.

Even though Nimra spoke on behalf of Zubaria & Ghaziyan but I wonder why didn’t she honestly tell her mother that she decided to call everything quits & convinced Zubaria’s father to accept Ghaziyan as his son in law. Anyways, as expected from a negative soul like Zakia, she created a havoc after getting to know that her daughter didn’t get married. I find it actually quite funny how while standing in Ghaziyan’s home, Zakia tells him to go away & leave this place? For the first time, it looked like even Waris knew his sister quite well & he knew that she has zero sensibility when it comes to understanding & respecting the relationships that she has but I feel he is the only one who is responsible for Zakia’s inflated ego. Waris has given his sister Zakia so much of freedom & so much of an edge that now she has directed her entire hatred & negative energy towards Waris’s only son Ghaziyan, still he is unable to take the matters in his hand & tell Zakia off. The way Waris has allowed Zakia to rule his place & his small family will only push him away from his son because Ghaziyan seems a lot rebellious & I won’t be surprised if he will leave this place again because of Zakia.

I found Jamshed’s concerns realistic where he was feeling bad that his father didn’t bother telling him about Zubaria’s Nikkah. Also, another loophole was that Jamshed’s wife spoke to her father in law regarding Nimra’s Nikkah function that she wanted to attend & it was suggested that she & her father in law will attend it together, so why was it that while everything was happening, she was nowhere to be seen?

It was good to see that Anas & Nimra decided to have a conversation with their mother about how she shouldn’t be so rigid because by the end of the day, they all were living in Waris’s house. Zakia has gotten used to the idea of literally exploiting her brother’s trust that she can’t think beyond her selfish approach & feels that everything that she is doing is perfectly alright. I think both Ghaziyan & Waris have given her so much of importance in their lives that she thinks she is entitled to pass verdicts on what Ghaziyan should & shouldn’t do. I found it actually quite amusing how Zakia informed Ghaziyan that she would never want Zubaria to come to this place? Like duh!

Anyways, I had a great time watching this episode. I must say I like Ghaziyan’s character for the fact that in a drama where everyone has furrowed brows & extremely tensed & depressed faces, he adds a touch of humor with his child-like behavior especially when he speaks with Zubaria or is dealing with any matters concerning her. I have now started to feel that they all need to at least lighten up because I don’t remember a single scene where I saw them all sharing a hearty laugh with each other. Everyone is just so serious, depressed & tensed as if they don’t experience any other emotion & are deprived of happiness. Yes, even these sad emotions are believable since they all are in such a situation but c’mon, lighten up please. The preview of the next episode made me laugh where Anas was only concerned about his ‘honeymoon’ & here we all were wondering about how important his role would be & how he will contribute to the story only to find out after 10 episodes that he is just as desperate & selfish like Zakia is…I think it runs in the blood. Ghaziyan & Zubaria looked absolutely adorable together but now I’d like to see Zubaria throwing some friendly smiles at her husband too because c’mon he deserves it. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 10 Review – Quite Interesting!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was definitely good & I had a great time watching it. Finally, things moved forward & brought some very nice changes in the story. I am glad that the youngsters ran the show this time & I’d appreciate if things remain that way. I think the first half of the drama has already been dedicated to the elders & their issues, so now they all need to take a back seat!

Nimra finally had a heart-to-heart conversation with Kabeer, where she told him everything that she has felt all these years. I liked how Nimra got a chance to say everything that she had on her mind & then in the end, Kabeer ended their conversation on a funny note, like it was good to see them both having a father-daughter moment. Once again, a tiny little thing that I picked up which bothered me was Nimra’s mention of the fact that Kabeer took Anas with him & going by how things were rolling, Zakia & even Nimra were in contact with Anas throughout the time he was away, so why was it shown that Kabeer came to Pakistan on his own & met Ghaziyan by chance that too as a stranger? Like are they trying to tell that Anas NEVER mentioned it in front of Zakia or Nimra that Kabeer was going to Pakistan? Then seeing how Zakia & Nimra have always treated Ghaziyan as an integral part of his family, so I am not sure how they all were oblivious of Kabeer & his plans of coming to Pakistan? I somehow am unable to digest the fact that 1 family member i-e Anas seemed to be in contact with his family in Pakistan, so how come no one knew about the 2nd family member i-e Kabeer? No one had an idea about Kabeer; neither Nimra (through Anas) nor Farah (through Altamash), which seems quite odd. I know these things don’t really matter much but since so many episodes were dedicated to this gypsy mysterious uncle named Kabeer, I feel the writer & the director failed to establish solid grounds behind him being MIA. Also, I don’t see any justification for him being out of the picture like he never existed & everyone speaking about him as if he vanished into thin air because quite a few people around him were already linked to the rest of the family members in Pakistan, so I am not sure why everyone in the initial part of the drama made it look like they had ZERO idea of where Kabeer went, especially now when it was suggested that Anas lived with him all these years? LOL!

Anyways, Zakia got a chance to scream her lungs out too but before she could’ve deafened me, I chose to forward her scene because I knew she’d be whining about why Nimra chose to go to Kabeer’s house. Zakia has left that place ages ago & she couldn’t accept the fact that Nimra decided to fulfill Kabeer’s wish. Zakia seriously has some psychological issues because where she wrecked havoc in her husband’s home years ago & she is still doing the same in her brother’s home now. Zakia surely wants everyone wrapped around her little finger & when things go out of her hand, she just can not bring herself to accept it. Finally, Waris decided to have a say on this matter too & I liked the fact that he acknowledged that the dynamics were about to change because the youngsters were going to take charge of everything. Waris knows that Zakia can not impose her wishes on everyone & she can not rule everyone’s life, that is why he could foresee how things were about to change.

Nimra & Zubaria got a chance to have a conversation. I liked the fact that Nimra apologized to Zubaria for the way Zakia misbehaved with her & then she ended up inviting her cousin to her Nikkah ceremony as well. Nimra started to feel that everything was turning out to be wrong & she was committing once mistake after another. Nimra could feel that Ghaziyan was not happy with the decision that the elders made on his behalf & he was just keeping a promise he made, that too halfheartedly. Ghaziyan on his own was suffering but he was keeping everything inside as he knew that no one would listen to him & no one would understand how he was feeling as well. Yes, he chose to share his feelings with Gul Zeb but even he knew that Gul Zeb herself has been a victim of Zakia’s wrongdoings all her life, so even if she wanted to, she couldn’t help him!

Finally, the time arrived when Nimra had to face the reality. At first, I was shocked to see that Zakia chose not to attend her daughter’s Nikkah, but then later I was thankful that she didn’t because Nimra wouldn’t have done what she did. Nimra chose not to get married to Ghaziyan because she could see that his heart wasn’t into this relationship & he lost control of his emotions the moment he saw Zubaria. It was good to see that Nimra had more sense & wisdom in comparison to all the elderlirs of the family combined where they were bent on forming a relationship that wouldn’t have given any happiness to anyone. Everything that Nimra said to her father was nothing but the truth & she made a lot of sense because she knew that Ghaziyan would only get married to her but he’d always be in love with Zubaria. Just a little side note, even though I am glad that Zakia didn’t attend the function, but her protest didn’t seem justified because the ceremony was in any case being held in a function hall & not at Kabeer’s place? LOL! So, for her to attend the function, she’d had to go to the function hall & not to Kabeer’s house, right? Then what was the entire fuss about? *smh*

Overall, this episode was pretty good & everything was done nicely. The pace of the drama has slowed down but it wouldn’t matter much if they’ll keep on moving things forward because a lot of episodes have been dedicated to the family politics & riddles which are hardly making any sense at this stage. I feel as the episodes are progressing, the loopholes of this family drama are becoming more evident. To be honest, I am actually disappointed to see Anas’ character because he has zero contribution in the story & I am sure it will stay like that, similarly, I have lost hope in Altamash’s character too because I am sure his arrival won’t make any difference as well. I am not sure what & why is it that the writer & the director have chosen to keep Altamash locked inside the laptop or a cellphone till the 10th episode lol, let him come outside, I am sure he needs a breather as well! Altamash’s character seems like a purposeless filler because when Kabeer told Nimra that she is the only sister of 2 brothers, I actually started thinking if this was another riddle that we’ll have to solve but then Kabeer took Altamash’s name along with Anas’ & I was like ohhh accha wo bhi hai. Anyways, the preview of the next episode seemed interesting, seems like the rest of the episodes will go by where Nimra will keep on convincing Zakia to accept Zubaria as Ghaziyan’s wife & Ghaziyan will keep on convincing Zubaria to become his wife! Overall, it’s a very decent play to tune to & I have a good time watching it, also why not when the cast is so good, the background score seems to work & the locations are beautiful! :) Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan!

Moray Saiyaan Episode 09 Review – A Feel-Good Drama!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was quite interesting. I like watching Moray Saiyaan for the fact that it is a feel good drama but I wish the focus on the older characters & their miserable lives was a little less because I watch this drama for the young characters & their stories. I think by now a lot has been explained & shown in a lot of detail as to what happened between all of them & why they drifted apart, so may be it’s time to come to a solution to all the issues & show us that at least someone is doing something to bring the entire family closer. To be honest, as much as I like this drama, I don’t see any reason for it to be exceeding the 16th episode mark because there isn’t much to the story, but I know these days it is not possible, which actually makes me a little skeptical about what they have in store for us to keep our interest alive in the show till the end.

So, Ghaziyan was trying hard to move on & he has only accepted everything after getting to know that even Zubaria wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra, which actually makes me question Ghaziyan’s stance & his determination. Just because Ghaziyan understood that Zubaria would never get married to him, he easily gave up thinking Nimra was the one he was destined to be with but honestly, it left me wondering where did that Ghaziyan go who was introduced as someone who only listened to his heart & who believed in having things his way. Also, I am not sure why Ghaziyan was blaming Zubaria for his misery because if there’s someone who’s to be blamed it is Ghaziyan himself, because he has not only upset is family members, he has also destroyed Zubaria’s reputation as well. While Ghaziyan is shown to be an intelligent & intuitive sort of a guy, I guess they should’ve also shown that before approaching Zubaria, Ghaziyan ended things with Nimra properly that too in front of his entire family so that none of them blames Zubaria for swaying Ghaziyan & his feelings. I think Ghaziyan should be mature enough to understand that his approach wasn’t right & he tried to go for something on his whim, without even considering what the consequences might be.

As much as I like Nimra, to be honest, I am not understanding her thought process too. Where in front of her mother, she jokes with Ghaziyan as his fiancée, then in privacy, she tells Ghaziyan that she never wanted him to get married to her by leaving Zubaria. Once again, Nimra came across as quite a mature person, so why is it that before cutting her wrist off, she didn’t think things through that this particular move of hers will put Ghaziyan in an awkward position & he will have to succumb to the pressures of each & every single family member. It is actually a little off-putting to see Nimra still trying to push her luck when deep inside she herself isn’t oblivious of the fact that Ghaziyan is not in love with her & most importantly, he is unhappy about the entire situation.

To be honest, as much coverage that all the elders are getting, their equations are getting uninteresting because all of them talk to each other as if they’re playing riddles & no one comes clean in their stance. Gul Zeb seemed completely oblivious of Kabeer & his whereabouts, till the moment he showed at her doorstep, then now she was handing him over the property papers saying that she was taking care of all that stuff for him, in his absence? I don’t really understand if this was the case, then how was Kabeer living his life while being cut off from everybody? One thing that actually shook me & made me detest Zakia’s character a little more was the fact where Kabeer discussed with Gul Zeb that Zakia was suspicious of the relation that Kabeer & Gul Zeb shared, because of which he didn’t divorce Zakia because he knew that if he would, she would find it as a validation of her suspicion that something was definitely happening between Kabeer & Gul Zeb. I think this sheds a light on how sick minded Zakia is, like she is just so bitter that in her bitter pangs, she ends up imagining such weird & bizarre things.

Well, another thing that I found a little odd was Kabeer’s opinion on Zubaria & Ghaziyan’s marriage, that Zubaria’s life will end up getting ruined if she will get married to Ghaziyan, not because of Ghaziyan himself, but because of Zakia because she will be around her? I think this was actually quite immature of Kabeer to say such a thing because why would Ghaziyan & Zubaria stay with Zakia for the rest of their lives? Also, just because Kabeer wants to save Zubaria from Zakia, he wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra, despite knowing that Ghaziyan doesn’t love his daughter Nimra & he is in love with Zubaria? I actually think a man of his age, who himself has experienced a dysfunctional marriage, didn’t look wise while saying such things. I find it actually quite amusing that each & every single person knows that Ghaziyan is not in love with Nimra, but they all still want both of them to get married, thinking things will change? Like what guarantee do they have!?!?!?!

Well, another thing that I found odd was that Nimra actually had to go through Ghaziyan’s phone to get Zubaria’s number, whereas they both are first cousins & in one of the previous episodes, Zubaria did suggest that she spoke to Nimra about this entire situation, so I am not sure why was it shown that Nimra had to take a longer route to reach out to Zubaria, like they are cousins so they both should be having each other’s contact numbers, right? Well Kabeer wants Ghaziyan to come to his house to receive his bride Nimra & that is why he put forth that demand but as always, Zakia depended on Waris to do the heavy-lifting & save the day by acting like her lawyer. Honestly speaking, I find it a little off-putting that Waris has no opinion of his own, it’s like he has allowed his beloved sister to wrap him around her little finger & use him like a tissue. Waris only voiced his opinion when he wanted to convince Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra & now when that has happened & Ghaziyan has said yes, Waris is silent?

Overall, this episode was good, I enjoyed watching the scenes of Zubaria & Ghaziyan, especially the one in which Ghaziyan was inquiring about Zubaria & later he was thinking about her, because the song that was used as a background score fitted the situation really well. Another loophole that I found was that Farah & Zubaria spoke about Farah being a gynecologist, so can someone tell me why was she attending Nimra & the cut on her wrist, lol? Anyways, as much as I really like how elegant all the ladies look, I really wish they hadn’t white-washed all the gents because they would’ve looked far more manly & graceful in their actual skin-tone. The acting of all the new comers has improved a lot I must say. Also, the preview of the next episode actually got me excited, because I am sure seeing Ghaziyan staring at Zubaria, Nimra would say no to Nikkah, but it forced me to think that if it wasn’t for Nimra, Ghaziyan would’ve gotten married to her & had lived his life without a purpose & a voice? Hmmmmm, as much as I like Ghaziyan’s character, it somehow puts him in such a light where he looks weak to me because he is coming across as someone who has no voice of his own & without a proper approach, he easily ends up getting pressurized into doing something which he doesn’t want. I think I would’ve liked him a little more if Ghaziyan had stood up for his love & had told everyone that if not Zubaria, he won’t get married to anyone, no matter what they say or what they do, because it wouldn’t have made him look selfish, but at least someone who had a mind, an opinion & a voice of his own & not someone who depended on others mercy. In short, I would’ve liked if they had shown that Ghaziyan had enough wisdom to approach things in a proper & appropriate manner. Anyways, let’s see what’s going to happen next week because I am actually excited for it. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 08 Review – Fairly Decent!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was on the slower side but I had a good time watching it. They have started taking the story forward but somehow being a very simple story & sort of predictable characters, you already know what is going to happen next. I am definitely watching this drama for the characters of Ghaziyan & Zubaria, so I find it appeasing that they get a lot of coverage alone & together in all the episodes.

So, this episode focused more on the pressures that Ghaziyan was facing from all directions. Waris wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra. Zakia wants Ghaziyan to get married to Nimra & as if they weren’t enough, Kabeer has also signed up to the same petition in order to prove that he still is a father to Nimra. I don’t know why but I was expecting the dynamics to change once Kabeer’s character will make an appearance but I was actually not too thrilled to see how everything was pretty much the same after his arrival & also how Kabeer was on a trip of his own. Also, none of them seemed to display any emotions of shock or despair after seeing Kabeer in front of them after so many years?

I don’t really understand why every single elder of the family is fixated with getting Ghaziyan married to Nimra. They all have experienced a marriage that has failed on the basis of lies, which was Kabeer lying about the fact that he was unmarried when he got married to Zakia, so I don’t really understand why they can’t foresee how imposing a marriage on Ghaziyan & even Nimra is not a wise decision. It looks more like a game of ego, where none of them wants Ghaziyan to hurt their egos & succumb to the pressures, as it will make them feel secured about the fact that they still are ruling other’s peoples lives because that’s exactly what they all are interested in. Ghaziyan has always been truthful about his feelings & has been honest about the fact that he won’t be able to keep Nimra happy as he is not emotionally involved with her, but no one in his family seems to understand such a basic thing. I think it would’ve been good to see at least one of the elders being supportive of Ghaziyan or at least telling him that they understand his pain, but in stead all of them pretty much had the same dialogue up their sleeve, where they gave him a ‘waasta’ of their ‘izzat’ or ‘rishta’!?!?!

Zakia ended up slapping Zubaria because according to her, putting a blame on others is the easiest thing to do. Zakia blames Zubaria for everything that Nimra has been through, but she doesn’t have the nerve to blame Ghaziyan because she still is in a hope that may be things will get sorted so she can’t afford to turn a blind eye from Ghaziyan as her daughter’s entire life & happiness depends on him. I actually thought that Kabeer, like a mature man that he is will try to have a conversation with Ghaziyan & ask him about everything that he feels but in stead, he chose to put more pressures on Ghaziyan because all of a sudden, after may be a decade or so, he has realized that Nimra’s happiness means everything to him & he has to get her the candy she’s after by hook or by crook!

So, finally, Zubaria has started thinking about Ghaziyan, she has developed some sort of feelings for him but she still hasn’t been able to convince herself to accept his proposal because she can see how messy everything already is. Zubaria knows that crushing people’s lives & forming a relationship by ignoring everything is not worth it. Even though she has grown into the idea of being with Ghaziyan but rather than being emotional, she is being practical & rightly so, as she knows that for the rest of their lives, Zakia & even Nimra will blame Zubaria for snatching Ghaziyan away from them & she can’t accept that as a bargain deal of being with Ghaziyan.

I am not too sure what Ghaziyan is planning because at one hand, he told Zakia that he was ready to get married to Nimra but the very next moment, he went to Zubaria & asked her to stand by his side because he will then be able to protect her? How can Ghaziyan keep on backing out from his promises all the time? How could he easily forget that he just gave his word to Zakia & agreed to get married to Nimra in front of her. I think in stead of lashing out on Zubaria & then begging her to stay by his side, Ghaziyan first needs to sort the entire messy family situation single-handedly before approaching Zubaria because he is disturbing her & it is emotionally upsetting for her too.

Overall, this episode was pretty decent but I am not too sure what I feel about the preview of the next episode. Nimra is going to tell Ghaziyan that she never once expected him to get married to her by leaving Zubaria, but then what was she trying to prove when she tried to commit the suicide? I don’t take Nimra to be so immature to not foresee how everyone will start blaming Ghaziyan for her actions & will then start pressurizing him for swooping in to save the day by getting married to her? Anyways, I had a good time watching this episode & I can’t wait for the day when everyone will curb their egos aside & will tell Ghaziyan to get married to the one he loves. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 07 Review – Fairly Decent!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was interesting because a new character got introduced but as I watched the episode more & more, a few questions were raised in my mind. Even though I have no complaints with the plot or even the story-line of the drama & I like the way the characters have been elaborated, I think the family politics have been explained in such a way that every once in a while you spot a loophole in the situations or scenarios. So, with that being said, I had a great time watching this episode of Moray Saiyaan too & I can’t wait to see what more do they have in store for us.

I actually thought that after everything that Ghaziyan has said & how he has explained himself, if not Zakia, at least Waris will understand where he was coming from. At least, being a father of Ghaziyan & someone who has firsthand seen how a marriage can fail, he wouldn’t impose this marriage on his son but Waris chose not to budge, because he had Zakia hovering around him as a reminder of how Waris ruined her life & how similarly, his son Ghaziyan was ruining her daughter’s life too. I really think Zakia needs to do some reflection & she needs to look back at all the things that her brother has done for her, how he has given her a comfortable lifestyle, how he supported her children, also, Waris actually chose a good life partner for her & he was just as much oblivious of Kabeer’s first marriage as Zakia herself was, so how can she keep on remininding Waris again & again about the marriage that she chose to walk out from? So what if out of all the things that she has planned & all the people she has controlled, there is one guy who doesn’t want to follow her orders & feels entitled to be choosing his own life partner? Zakia really needs some reflection to do.

All this while, Nimra chose to portray herself as a very strong girl, who to some extent convinced herself that yes, Ghaziyan was not into the idea of getting married to her, but I believe it were the constant reminders of Zakia that pushed her into that phase of depression, where she felt her life was over & if not, she had to do something to get over with this life because Ghaziyan was the only reason of her existence. Nimra not only complicated matters for herself, but she complicated everything related to everyone, because now, things will be even more difficult for Zakia, for Waris & also for Ghaziyan as Zakia will blame Ghaziyan for the step that Nimra has taken, Zakia will also emotionally blackmail her brother Waris & then Waris will tell Ghaziyan to compensate for pushing Nimra to this point!

The addition of Kabeer was interesting & I have no issues with him showing up at this stage of the drama but somehow the writer couldn’t convince me to believe that while Farah; Kabeer’s daughter in law was in contact with Gul Zeb, Kabeer never once asked Farah how his family back home was doing? Also, I am not really sure how’s this possible that Gul Zeb never once tried to ask Farah about Kabeer’s contact number so that she could speak to him & tell him about everything that was happening in Pakistan? Also, when Gul Zeb was hospitalized, they showed that Farah stayed at her place with her to take care of her, so wouldn’t have Farah mentioned that Kabeer was coming to Pakistan? Also, when Kabeer met Ghaziyan & he took him to Gul Zeb’s place, Gul Zeb told them that Farah was at her place for a night stay too, so are you telling me that Altamash, who happens to be quite close to wife Farah, wouldn’t have told her that his father & Farah’s father in law was coming to Pakistan? I don’t know, somehow these little things bothered me a bit & ended up looking like small little loopholes but other than that I am happy with Kabeer’s addition in the show because looks like Zakia will now have something/someone else to obsess over & she will stop pestering Ghaziyan!

Everything that Gul Zeb told to Kabeer seemed like a news for him & he seemed agitated at what was happening in Nimra’s life, but then again, I am not sure if he is entitled to have a say in her personal affairs now because he distanced himself, so how can he boast about the fact that he is her father too? Also, in one of the conversations, it was implied that Anas was in contact with Kabeer, so that once again looked like a loophole to me that being Nimra’s brother, wasn’t he aware of what was happening in her life & how Ghaziyan was backing out from marriage? Like I am sure Zakia would’ve shared this serious issue with her son & as a concerned brother, he must’ve shared his concerns with his father Kabeer too? I don’t know, I feel they should’ve have implied throughout all the previous episodes that Kabeer was somehow in contact with one of them & he was aware of everything that was unfolding in their lives because his obliviousness didn’t make much sense to me. Also, I am not sure what’s the point of keeping Anas out of the picture till now & also, I am not sure if showing Altamash out of Pakistan is making any difference to the story?

Once again, Zubaria put forth her perspective in a stern manner where she clearly told Ghaziyan that he had to & he should get married to Nimra because out of nowhere, Zubaria was turning out to be a culprit without even wanting to be as she is not interested in Ghaziyan to begin with. It was good to see that Zubaria wanted to visit Nimra at the hospital but her friend rightly advised her not to because that would further complicate things & it will once again give Zakia a chance to blame Zubaria for something she is not even responsible for. I am actually quite interested to see that after all that has happened, how will Zubaria fall for Ghaziyan? Like Zubaria has self-respect & she is dignified enough to be drawing a line again & again because she knows that Nimra is getting hurt because Ghaziyan got interested in her & many complications have already emerged in the relationships, so I want to see what will convince Zubaria that Ghaziyan is right & he deserves her support. I am looking forward to see what will Ghaziyan do, as in to what extreme will he go, that will make Zubaria fall in love with him?

Overall, this episode was pretty decent & I had a great time watching it. The preview of the next episode seemed quite promising, looks like things are going to get further complicated because now Kabeer will step into their lives. Zubaria will face the brunt for what Nimra has done & I am sure Ghaziyan will try to rectify the situation. I enjoyed everyone’s performance in this episode & I liked most of the conversations too, especially the ones that happened between Kabeer & Ghaziyan about love & life in general. Can’t wait for the next episode already, please share your thoughts about this episode of Moray Saiyaan!

Moray Saiyaan Episode 06 Review – So Far So Good!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was quite interesting & was done really really well. Also, the preview of the next episode further developed my interest in this drama. It makes me happy that things are moving forward now & we will probably be getting an insight into all the characters & their history a lot more in the episodes to come.

So, Zakia went to meet Zubaria only to tell her that she needs to back off. I must say, I loved the way Zubaria stood up for herself. It is actually quite nice to see such a young girl having so much of pride & dignity & also so much of confidence in herself where she knows that she is not at fault & she hasn’t done anything wrong for which she should feel ashamed, that is why she had the guts to tell Zakia off politely & a bit sternly where she felt that she was crossing the line by dragging Zubaria’s late mother in this mess.

It was good that Ghaziyan not only took a stand for Zubaria but also used that moment to explain everything to his family members. Everything that Ghaziyan said about how he’d be unable to keep Nimra happy was on-point. It was good that Ghaziyan even brought the example of Kabeer & Zakia in between, in a hope that may be it will put things into perspective but sadly, no one budged. I actually thought that Nimra will end up supporting Ghaziyan by seeing his honesty but even she chose to see herself as a victim & Ghaziyan as a villain who was crushing all her dreams with his harsh words. I think of all the people, at least Waris should have understood what his son was trying to say & how he was being honest about everything but sadly, Waris still feels guilty for what his sister Zakia had to go through because of him, that is why he now wants Ghaziyan to compensate & pay the price by becoming a puppet to a control freak like Zakia only to make her happy.

It was actually quite shocking to see that when Waris told Ghaziyan to leave, Zakia just sat there without intervening, as if she wanted Ghaziyan to get punished for daring to hurt her & Nimra. I think Zakia really needs to understand that she has already ruined a lot of relationships, she has drifted apart a lot of family members, so now at least she should be courteous enough to not be so stubborn where it will cost Waris & Ghaziyan their relationship because of her. It was actually quite annoying to see Zakia calling & blaming Gul Zeb for planting the idea of leaving his house in Ghaziyan’s mind, whereas she herself saw that it was Waris who told Ghaziyan to leave, that too in front of her, so how could she blame Gul Zeb for things she wasn’t even aware of? This move of Zakia clearly showed that she is someone who loves to put a blame on others & loves seeing others suffering when she herself mourns how unfair life has been to her. The reason why Zakia hasn’t been able to forgive Kabeer is because he was married & had a child, this was something that the viewers assumed but it was revealed for the first time that this was the actual reason why Zakia chose to get separated from her husband.

The second half of the episode revolved around Nimra & Zubaria & how their friends were trying to cheer them up. Ghaziyan got to meet Zubaria & also made it clear to her that it was not because of Zubaria, but it was because of his own personal feelings for her that he decided to take a stand against the decision of Waris & Zakia where they wanted him to get married to Nimra. It was good to see that Ghaziyan tried to reason with Zubaria, while also trying to make her understand that even though she was the reason why he was doing all that, it was not because Zubaria ever gave him a hint that he should do all of that. There was some sort of clarity in the entire situation where even though both Zubaria & Ghaziyan were not on the same page, their perspectives were clear & they both had genuine reasons to differ to each other. After seeing how persuasive Ghaziyan is, I am sure he will convince Zubaria but it will be a long & bumpy ride!

Overall, this episode was quite interesting. The situations were nice but somehow the acting of almost all the actors seemed a little too forced, especially in the confrontation scene between Ghaziyan’s entire family. Just when I was about to say that I was getting tired of seeing Zubaria/Neha Rajpoot in similar sort of dresses & get up, she pleasantly surprised me with a different hairdo & all-white dress & she looked really pretty. I love how the makeup artist has chosen a very neat & clean no-makeup makeup look for all the girls, it makes them look their age & quite innocent at that. Kinza Hashmi can pull off any color & she looked a little extra pretty in that navy blue shirt, it complemented her brown hair. Uzair Jaswal has improved a lot in terms of acting & I am sure as the episodes will progress, he will keep on better & better. The preview of the next episode has me all excited, I can’t wait to see how the dynamics will change with the entry of Kabeer. Please share your thoughts about this very interesting episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Moray Saiyaan Episode 05 Review – Family Issues!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was on the slower side but it surely was interesting. I like the fact that they have started unfolding some of the pages from the past but I think it’s about time that the character of Kabeer is introduced & the backstory of Zakia’s past is explained because to see her play the victim card every single time is not too appealing!

So, Ghaziyan’s immaturity has already started showing its results. Ghaziyan told Waris that he wasn’t interested in Nimra anymore & like a concerned father, Waris visited Gul Zeb, because he knows that she is the only one who Ghaziyan listens to the most & she is the only one who would be able to stop Ghaziyan from tearing the entire family apart, but before that could’ve happened, Gul Zeb ended up getting hospitalized because all the things that she heard from Waris were a bit too hard for her to handle. Gul Zeb loved Ghaziyan a lot & she would hate to see him getting estranged from his father. Gul Zeb has suffered a lot on her own but when it came to Ghaziyan, she couldn’t tolerate the thought of anything bad happening to him, that is why she took everything to her heart.

Ghaziyan slowly & steadily started realizing that everything was happening because of him but I still don’t really understand his approach. I still feel they should have taken some time in developing everything because to see Ghaziyan from being too concerned & focused about bringing his family together to being concerned only about his marriage with Zubaria by hook or by crook seems a little unconvincing. Also, Zubaria has never said anything to Ghaziyan for him to create a havoc on her name, so not really sure what is it that is forcing him to take such drastic steps? The best thing about the entire chaos is that Zubaria isn’t oblivious of the fact that Nimra & Ghaziyan are engaged, so she wouldn’t easily allow Ghaziyan to turn her into a 2nd woman who wrecked someone’s relation to establish her own!

I absolutely loved Nimra’s take about this entire situation. Even though she is heart broken & even though she loves Ghaziyan a lot, she still is mature enough to understand that Ghaziyan is not into her & he is not interested in getting married to her because he has fallen in love with someone else. Nimra knows that if Ghaziyan will ever agree to get married to her, it would only be because of her mother’s stubbornness & pressures, which she most certainly doesn’t want to see because she knows that if they’d get married under such circumstances, Ghaziyan will never be able to love Nimra the way she’d want him to & also, he’ll lose all the respect he has ever had for her mother Zakia. It was good to see that even though Nimra is madly in love with Ghaziyan & she can not think about living her life without him, she is sane & mature enough to put two & two together, in stead of just pushing herself into Ghaziyan’s life!

As always, Zakia got the opportunity to turn herself into a victim & turn everyone else around her into a culprit. I think it’s about time that the director gives the viewers an insight into what actually happened in the past that made Zakia just so bitter that she can’t stand anyone around her except Waris & Ghaziyan. I think even after finding the entire story, I still won’t be able to develop a liking for a character like Zakia because she is someone who loves to play the victim card & wants to be the center of attention of every single person around her. I think she has spent a lot of time feeding on the bitter memories of the past that she is unable to see how it has been taking a toll on everyone else around her.

I honestly feel if the writer hadn’t shown that Ghaziyan was engaged to Nimra, it wouldn’t have made him look immature & selfish because nothing that he will say or do will justify his decision of leaving Nimra in the lurch because he fell in love with Zubaria without even worrying about what the consequences will be. Just because Ghaziyan saw Zubaria, he completely forgot all about Nimra, his fiancée, so it surely puts him in a bad light. Also, if the writer had shown him as a carefree sort of a guy, it would’ve looked even better because at first, he was shown as someone who was overly concerned about bringing his family together & now, what he is doing is not helping the situation at all.

Overall, this episode was pretty interesting but I really think Kabeer should make an entry in the drama now for us to understand why Zakia is like that because to see her sobbing like a victim doesn’t really sit well with me for now, may be if I get something that’d justify her behavior, then I wouldn’t mind her attitude but for now, she is off-putting. Also, in one of the conversations, Zubaria spoke about the conversation she had with Nimra, but we didn’t see that happening, I think in a drama where there was so much of focus on how complicated these immediate relations were, it was necessary for the director to give these relations & their issues a proper coverage, for the viewers to understand & grasp everything properly. A little attention to detail would’ve sufficed definitely. Anyways, I had a good time watching this episode & definitely looking forward to the next one. Moray Saiyaan Episode 04 Review – Utterly Sweeeeeeeeeet!

0

Ohkay so, not that I haven’t said this before, I will say it again, Moray Saiyaan is such a cute drama I swear. I had this goofy smile on my face while watching this episode especially during the interactions between Ghaziyan & Zubaria. This drama is exactly a depiction of what Rabia Razzaque herself said that she wanted to show a very light-hearted love story & the creative team of Moray Saiyaan has achieved just that. Even though there are a few issues that are based on the egos & family issues, but the overall feel of the drama is just so appeasing. I am glad where on Mondays, for Sanam I have to especially make black coffee, on Tuesdays, I have a drama which I can sit back & enjoy with a bag of popcorn (just imaginary sketch to show how enjoyable this drama is).

So, Ghaziyan is persistent & even though his feelings for Zubaria came out of nowhere, I really really like his approach where he is not doing everything on his own but is also involving his own father & Zubaria’s father too. Ghaziyan did understand that Zubaria won’t do anything against her father’s wishes, so he went ahead & started getting cordial with Zubaria’s father to score himself some brownie points, very intelligent I must say Mister. That entire scenario was actually quite sweet where Ghaziyan was missing Zubaria so he found himself an excuse to see her & earn some time with her!

I really like Zubaria’s character, it’s like even though she is very serious & focused, she is not used as someone who is just pretty, it’s like Zubaria has a personality & an attitude which makes her look very dignified. Even though Ghaziyan has time & again said things to flatter her & has been very vocal about his feelings, I love the fact that Zubaria hasn’t responded him back in such a tone, it makes her look so mature in a sense that she is not someone who is easy to win over. Zubaria has a stance & she wants it to be respected. Even though Ghaziyan is a very decent guy but still Zubaria has not allowed him to think that she is liking that kind of attention from him.

I liked seeing the relation Zubaria has with her father & that surukh jora was actually a depiction of what he & even Zubaria’s mother wants to see. There was actually something very sweet about the entire scene where Zubaria’s father narrated the dream that he saw & immediately linked it to her daughter as like he said, no matter what parents want their children to achieve or become, by the end of the day, they’d always want to see their children settled & happy with a good life partner & no wonder he had this dream just when Ghaziyan came into the picture, it will actually help Zubaria in making up her mind about Ghaziyan!

So, Ghaziyan finally decided to plead his case in front of his father & he told him everything that he has started to feel about Zubaria. Even though Waris’s reaction was justified but I liked how he gave a chance to Ghaziyan to explain himself because when he did, even Waris was compelled to do some thinking as Ghaziyan had a point where he said he won’t be able to keep Nimra happy as he is not in love with her. I find it actually quite amusing that Zakia single=-handedly has frightened every single soul around her because it looks like even before breathing, they think about what Zakia might have to say about it, haha! It looks like Zakia has created this idea about herself where even though she poses to be strong, she has turned herself into a victim, that is why, till date her brother Waris feels guilty for getting her married to his friend Kabeer. I think Zakia needs to loosen up & should allow others to breathe too because no wonder why Ghaziyan feels more comfortable & relaxed in the company of Gul Zeb, at least she is not such a hilter like Zakia!

This episode shed a light on the fact that Gul Zeb knew Dr. Farah & Dr. Altamash from another reference & it was a reference of Kabeer, who was her sister’s husband, which actually did make sense but then again came as a surprise. I wish before showing their interaction in the 2nd & 3rd episode, they had established this fact that Gul Zeb & Dr. Farah knew each other because in these previous episodes, it seemed as if they were complete strangers & were only interacting because Dr. Farah was handling the case of Aashi. Same goes for Ghaziyan, he seemed quite reserved when he spoke to Dr. Farah all concerned about Aashi’s condition but now even he seemed to be quite cordial with her as if he has known her for a long time, at least long enough to be seeking relationship advice from her. This is the only thing that I found came out of nowhere but never mind, it did make sense because Gul Zeb was once related to Kabeer because of Zakia & now she knew Dr. Farah as Kabeer’s daughter in law I guess!

Overall, this episode was brilliant as usual. I am glad that I am getting to watch a drama like Moray Saiyaan which qualifies as a light-hearted entertainment, even though I know things will get a bit intense in the upcoming episodes but still, it will be an interesting ride. I think Gul Zeb & Waris’s meeting won’t be a smooth sail because he will go there out of concern as he is not thrilled with the idea of Ghaziyan getting interested in someone other than Nimra, so I think he might blame Gul Zeb or tell her to stop Ghaziyan from seeing Zubaria. I really feel for Nimra already, it’s like she is such a sweet soul & she seems to be obsessing over Ghaziyan but not for the wrong reasons as she has been engaged to him all her life, so it seems justified that she gets affected & upset over his behavior. I hope Ghaziyan approaches Nimra properly to share what he feels but yes, I still feel bad that just because Ghaziyan has come across Zubaria, he is leaving Nimra in the lurch, that too when their wedding is on the cards. Aww! Well, let’s see how the story unfolds. Neha Rajpoot & Uzair Jaswal are nailing their characters, yes, they still seem a little effortful in their acting but their strong on-screen chemistry compensates for their overall acting. I really like how witty Ghaziyan is, as in the dialogues that have been written for him are super cool! I will once again thank the team of Moray Saiyaan for picking Islamabad as their shooting location, it takes me back to the time that I have spent there & makes me connect to the entire drama & the characters on another level, so thank you once again. Moray Saiyaan Episode 03 Review – So Far So Good!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was interesting too. I like watching this drama because it qualifies as a lighthearted entertainment. The cast is appeasing to look at & the locations are breath-taking. At this stage, the drama is not too dense nor the situations are too serious, so for me, Moray Saiyaan is the sort of a drama that I can sit back, relax & enjoy watching.

This episode mainly covered the budding relationship between Ghaziyan & Zubaria. Ghaziyan has his sights on her & he is not ashamed to admit that, however Zubaria has other priorities in mind. The most important thing for Zubaria right now is to get educated & also to not do anything that would compromise on the trust her father has on her. Zubaria knows that it has taken her family a lot to allow her to pursue her education while living alone in a hostel, so she most certainly can not afford to divert her attention on something else.

Ghaziyan got a chance to spend more time with Zubaria but what I liked the most about the entire thing was that like a true gentleman, Ghaziyan introduced himself to Zubaria’s family. Zubaria knew that her sister in law Afshan might create some issues but she also had an idea that her father & brother won’t mind because Ghaziyan wasn’t a complete stranger as he was Gul Zeb’s nephew.

Zakia is someone who has harbored a lot of grudges in her heart over the years & during one of her conversations, it felt like she also blames her brother Waris for her failed marriage. What I deduced from that conversation was that may be Kabeer was already married or may be he had a son but he chose not to tell to his friend Waris & wife Zakia, that is why Zakia couldn’t forgive her husband because she is the sort of a person who finds it hard to let go. Also, as much as we have been introduced to Zakia’s character, she can easily malign her heart but she can not forget things easily, that is why she still is not on talking terms with Gul Zeb & doesn’t fancy the idea of curbing the differences in order to reconcile with her sister or her husband. I am sure if Zakia will make an effort, Gul Zeb will walk an extra mile for her but Zakia is most certainly not in a mood to do that & now with what Ghaziyan is upto, Zakia has all the more reasons to blame Gul Zeb for her misery!

So, Ghaziyan has proposed marriage to Zubariya. As much as I like watching Ghaziyan & Zubaria together & as much as I like seeing them as a couple, I find Ghaziyan a little too impulsive & immature because in the first episode & also in the precap of the next episode, things were made clear that he was actually & officially engaged to Nimra, so now that he has spotted Zubaria, he has forgotten all about the promises he made to Nimra & may be he has also forgotten about his love for her & that slightly puts him in a bad light because if he had been a man of his word, he would’ve never done that. Also, I am sure as much as Zubaria doesn’t appreciate the attention she gets from Ghaziyan, she won’t be thrilled with the idea of being the reason behind Nimra & Ghaziyan’s break up. But then again, a love story is never complete with some twists & turns, so this is what is going to happen but even though I have said it before, I will say that again, I’d hate to see the sweetest girl like Nimra go through a heart break because of Ghaziyan’s immaturity & sudden realization about his love for Zubaria.

Overall, this episode was a treat to watch too. I love love love the locations they have chosen, it just lightens up the mood. I also enjoy the conversations Ghaziyan has with Zubaria, where he is always teasing her & she has the best comebacks to silence him up. The precap of the next episode suggested a lot of drama, I am sure Zakia won’t be happy with the news of Ghaziyan not wanting to get married to Nimra. Poor Nimra will suffer & Zakia will easily put a blame on Gul Zeb for transpiring everything because Zakia is someone who doesn’t think rationally & loves putting a blame on others that too with so much of conviction. I will thank the director for keeping things to the point & visually appeasing. Definitely looking forward to what team Moray Saiyaan has in store for us. Moray Saiyaan Episode 02 – A Feel Good Drama!

Ohkay so, this episode was Moray Saiyaan was interesting. I think the selling point of this drama at this stage is the cast & the location. Even though the actors are all new-comers & even though you can see some sort of discomfort & effort in their acting, you can definitely cut them some slack because of the fact that it is actually quite refreshing to see some new faces on screen after a long time with such an amazing direction.

So, our hero Ghaziyan continued with his plan of pestering Zubaria because he wanted to cheer her up & luckily he got to spend a lot of time with her too. Ghaziyan actually shifted to Gul Bibi’s place for a few days despite knowing that Zakia won’t appreciate any of that but he actually doesn’t care because he is a bit too self-sufficient & keeps himself independent of any situation which can be used to emotionally blackmail him. So, Ghaziyan throughout was on a hunt for opportunity to have a conversation with Zubaria but she always responded back in a way to give him a clear message that she was not interested in having any kind of friendship with him & she liked being left alone. Just because Gul Bibi got a bit busy with her visits to the hospital, Ghaziyan got a chance to divert Zubaria’s attention on him but he found out that no matter what he’d do or say, Zubaria will remain unaffected.

Throughout the first episode, I was under the impression that Nimra & Ghaziyan were engaged to be married, that is why Zakia & Ghaziyan’s father were having a conversation about arranging their marriage but by the end of this episode, it didn’t turn out to be the case. Ghaziyan actually wants to make everything right in his family but looks like his approach isn’t right. He is actually ignoring Zakia to be with Gul Bibi, so how does he think will make her feel about Gul Bibi, especially knowing how Zakia is so possessive about him? I think in stead of spending time with Gul Bibi, Ghaziyan should have had some conversations with Zakia & repeatedly at that, in order to convince her & also to understand her perspective about this entire situation. Yes, at this point, Gul Bibi got a bit busy so he chose to stay at her place to accompany Zubaria & Khalil, but he still can not be ignorant of the fact that Zakia won’t be happy with him. It is totally understandable that Ghaziyan is a free-bird & he does what he likes, but where he plans on bringing his entire family together, he can not turn a blind eye especially from Zakia who is far more rigid, egoistic & paranoid, in comparison to Gul Bibi. Even Ghaziyan knows that Gul Bibi is very lenient & easy-going, so in stead of spending time with her & telling her again & again that he wants to amend the situation & broken ties, he should spend more time with Zakia to be able to convince her.

Nimra has always been in love with Ghaziyan & she has always dreamt of him as her life partner, that is why she feels affected when she sees no contact from Ghaziyan. It looks like Nimra ended up having a lot of expectations based on her one-sided love & everyone in their family, including Ghaziyan’s father decided to get Ghaziyan & Nimra married without even knowing Ghaziyan’s opinion on this. Nimra is obviously going to have a heart-break but it will be sad to see that happening to such a nice girl, who is so optimistic & nice, despite living under an influence of a mother like Zakia.

I liked the fact that they have added this entire professional thing in this drama, where there is some focus on the doctors & their routine too. I liked seeing Dr. Farah’s scenes & her conversations with everyone. I am definitely looking forward to her & Altamash’s track, I am sure it has something to do with Kabeer, who is Zakia’s husband. Well, the note at which this episode ended left me a bit confused, especially in regards to Ghaziyan’s stand on the entire situation. I mean I am not sure if this was done purposely or was a glitch on the writer’s part because how can a guy not know that his entire family is planning to get him married to a certain girl, while he on the other hand is dreaming of getting married to someone else, who he knows won’t be accepted by his family easily. As far as Ghaziyan’s father is concerned, he will accept Zubaria but how will Ghaziyan explain everything to Zakia who is so possessive about him & wants to see him as her son-in-law? I think the writer made a giant leap without establishing everything properly because this makes Ghaziyan’s character seem a bit too impulsive & immature. At one hand, Ghaziyan focuses on bringing his family together but on the other hand, he says something so random, that he knows will give rise to more family issues. Also, I am not sure how can Ghaziyan fall for Zubaria so easily while completely forgetting about Nimra, because in the first episode, we got an impression that Ghaziyan was engaged to Nimra & also, he said he just found Zubaria mysterious & wanted to cheer her up, which was actually quite nice for a change. It think it would have been better if the writer & the director had taken things especially in this matter a little slow, like if they had shown that Ghaziyan became friends with Zubaria first & just when he was getting to know her better & better, he ended up falling in love with her, because all of a sudden, to see Ghaziyan’s focus shifting from his family issues to his marriage without anyone’s consent seemed a little abrupt & not too well-thought out. Also, looks like Zakia will conveniently blame Gul Bibi for this entire situation & also for pushing Zubaria in Ghaziyan’s life, let’s see!!!

Overall, I had a good time watching this episode. I liked the conversations between Ghaziyan & Zubaria, also their scenes were a treat to watch. I will say that apart from Kinza Hashmi, both Uzair Jaswal & Neha Farooq seem to be struggling with acting but I will definitely give them a benefit of doubt knowing it is their first project & also for the fact that they look so cute together. I liked the chemistry between Uzair/Ghaziyan & Neha/Zubaria so I’m definitely looking forward to their journey. I know it is going to be a love-triangle scenario but as far as it is going to be a feel good drama, I have no complaints. :) Also, I am quite happy that this drama doesn’t have a lot of negative characters, yes, we do have 1 in the form of Zakia but she is not completely negative, she is just someone who likes to think of herself as a victim of circumstances, but apart from that, everyone seems so optimistic & admirable, which is a bonus. I loved loved loved the locations & all the homes they have chosen for shooting this drama, for someone like me who is interested in interior designing, it gives me immense joy to look at aesthetically pleasing backdrops. The direction of this drama is on-point & I actually like the usage of the OST as well. I am quite happy with the progress of the story, let’s see how it unfolds. Ohkay so, written by Rabia Razzaque, directed by Nadeem Siddique & produced by Abdullah Seja; Moray Saiyaan commenced on ARY Digital at the prime time slot on Tuesday. I just watched the very first episode & I can I say that I am quite impressed. This drama not only brings a change in terms of the scenery but in terms of the cast too. To be honest, all throughout the episode, I was actually quite happy to see some new faces & I commend the casting director for choosing newcomers. I know it must’ve taken a lot of brainstorming on the drama-makers part to come to a decision whether they should give a break to the new faces or not but I’d be happy to let them know that they definitely made the right decision. I am not sure how the drama is going to unfold but it surely has began at a very promising note.

We were introduced to a single family which was pretty scattered & divided but there was one such person who believed in binding them & I am sure he will make that happen. Zakia (Irsa Ghazal) is a single mother of two Nimra (Kinza Hashmi) & Anas. She has a support of her brother Waris Afridi (Firdous Jamal) who has a son Ghaziyan (Uzair Jaswal). Ghaziyan has just returned from the US after completing his education as a petroleum engineer. Ghaziyan & Nimra are engaged to be married & it seems that Zakia is quite possessive about Ghaziyan, so much so that she keeps on telling her daughter to take care of herself because she feels that way Nimra will be able to keep Ghaziyan’s attention intact. Not sure if it is because of a failed marriage or due to her own personality, Zakia seems to be quite an egoist & to some extent paranoid, that is why the mention of her ex-husband Kabeer upsets her, she has estranged her sister, she controls her daughter & wants to control her nephew & Nimra’s fiancé Ghaziyan too.

We then got to see that Zakia & Waris also have a sister Gul Zeb/Gul Bibi who came into their lives after their father’s second marriage. This is the reason why Gul Zeb has been estranged by Zakia as she thinks her father made a mistake by going for a second marriage, so now when he is not alive, there’s no reason for her to hold onto the relations that according to her were merely a mistake. Waris seems to be quite normal when it comes to Gul Zeb but Zakia on the other hand don’t want to associate with her sister, so much so that she doesn’t appreciate the fact that Ghaziyan spends time with her.

Gul Bibi has a niece Zubaria (Neha Rajpoot), who often visits her & is a medical student. Zubaria lives in a hostel & keeps on visiting her father, brother Jamshed & sister in law Afshan. Even though Zubaria is young, she is quite responsible & mature, that is why she makes sure to give her family & her aunt some time out of her busy schedule. Ghaziyan & Zubaria meet at Gul Bibi’s place & that’s when Ghaziyan feels that he needs to cheer Zubaria up as he thinks she is missing a lot on her life by keeping herself engrossed in her worries. For Ghaziyan, Zubaria is like a very fascinating mystery & he wants to get to know her, to actually understand her better. It looked like more than the need for Zubaira to be cheered up, Ghaziyan just wants to get close to her to overcome the curiosity in his mind & heart about Zubaira. Even though Ghaziyan is engaged to Nimra, he doesn’t hold back in expressing his feelings about Zubaria in front of Gul Bibi. Gul Zeb knows that if anyone in Zakia’s family will find out about what Ghaziyan intends to do, as in how he intends to befriend Zubaria, no one will be happy but Ghaziyan is someone who believes in doing what his hearts tells him to.

Ghaziyan knows what sort of a person Zakia is & how she believes in controlling those who are close to her, but he is quite independent emotionally that is why without worrying about Zakia, he not only meets Gul Bibi but also intends to spend more time with her niece Zubaria from now on. I liked the accidental interactions between Zubaria & Ghaziyan. As much as Zubaria didn’t want to be associated with him, Ghaziyan made sure to have a conversation with her because he knows she needs someone to teach her how to be happy & just not be always worried about smallest of things in life. Ghaziyan comes from a completely different background & even though he has lived quite a nice life, it was actually good to see him being in touch with his emotional side where he felt bad seeing how his family was broken into pieces.

collage-03

We also got to see a conversation between Dr. Farah (Ayesha Toor) & Dr. Altamash Kabeer (Ali Kazmi). I believe Altamash will be Kabeer’s son, the same Kabeer who also happens to be Zakia’s husband or ex-husband. I think Zakia must be the reason why her marriage failed because going by the things Nimra said, looks like Waris being a rational person told everyone the truth that Kabeer never faltered when it came to his responsibilities but Zakia on the other hand painted a completely different picture in front of her children, that is why Nimra seemed a little confused but I am sure it will be interesting to see that track unfolding too. I liked how Nimra even after living with a rigid mother like Zakia, had the sense of differentiating between right & wrong. Nimra seemed a lot more optimistic & positive in comparison to Zakia but Zakia on the other hand kept on instilling all those fears & complexes in her daughter that she herself has!

Overall, the first episode was done beautifully. Starting from direction to locations to dialogues to situations each & everything was spot on. Even though it happens to be the very first drama of Uzair Jaswal, he seemed pretty comfortable when it came to acting. Neha Rajpoot seemed a little stiff & hesitant in terms of acting as these must’ve been the very initial days of shoot so that is why her lack of confidence was evident from her body language but I am sure we will get to see an improvement in her performance as the episodes will progress. Kinza Hashmi on the other hand seemed quite confident & acted brilliantly too. I must say, I can’t thank the casting director enough for choosing some new, fresh & young & beautiful faces for this drama & for not relying on those actors who are always pasted on our screens, what a relief! The way they established a relation between Zubaria & Ghaziyan was actually quite cute, you could actually feel a connection between the two, which is great!!!

I must say the locations they chose had a great impact on the overall feel of the drama & made things seem quite appeasing. The note at which the drama has begun seems quite promising, even though it has the entire love triangle happening but the supporting characters are so strong that things are definitely going to be interesting. I think they introduced the characters & their back stories in a very apt manner, like it seemed quite detailed for the very first episode. Also, I liked the fact that after letting us know about the relations that these guys shared, the writer also showed us that all these characters had something going for them in their lives, like Zubaria was studying to become a doctor, Ghaziyan became a petroleum engineer & Nimra was a badminton player, like it was good to see that these young characters weren’t only fixated with the idea of marriage & had nothing else in their lives! The dialogues were nice too & I liked the interactions between Ghaziyan & Khalil as well. I must say, for the very first episode, I am impressed & I an’t wait for the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about the very first episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

ps: I hope The Terrific Tuesday luck touches this drama too as I have always been lucky with the Tuesday dramas haha. I hope Moray Saiyaan takes after Besharam & turns out to be a great drama as well. ;)

Moral Police Found ‘Nudity’ in Ayeza Khan’s 2 Year Old Daughter’s Picture!

Moral Police strikes again!

This time at an innocent two-year-old’s pictures! Ayeza Khan and Danish Taimoor’s daughter, Hoorain turned 2 this Thursday. The excited mother shared her happiness and love for her daughter on facebook by posting a picture of her little angel:

According to us, Hoorain looked adorable in that mermaid costume but it seems like some people on the social media don’t share similar sentiments:

“On one hand, the story of Mor Moharan showcases the beauty of the belt, but it also highlights the issues prevalent in that region, along with larger environmental issues like climate change, water scarcity and trade malpractice. We have the most fabulous scenic locations, Cholistan is also one of them. If we don’t tell our stories, someone else will come and own them! Before this happens, we have to tap into our rich resources and make the most of them by channeling them through all mediums of storytelling”, says Seema Taher.

Mor Maharan Episodes 1 – 3 Story Review

Writer: Ali Moeen
Director: Owais Khan
Producer: Seema Taher Khan
Schedule: Every Tuesday on TV One at 8 pm

Rant Before The Review

First of all, I would like to thank all those wonderful people here who suggested this drama to me because otherwise, I would have missed it. Most often, we end up waiting for and tuning into dramas that air on one of the 3 leading channels. Usually, these channels deliver as well and some of the dramas really are worth watching and reviewing. However, now more than ever, most dramas literally die down after a few weeks and there is so much repetition that it puts you to sleep. After reviewing Parizaad in particular, I am finding it really hard to sit through most of the dramas that have aired recently and could not even consider taking them up for reviewing.

I must admit that I watched all the star-studded mega projects that aired on all the 3 channels and also watched the first two episodes of Dushman before I watched Mor Maharan. I am more disappointed than ever by the level of commercialism and lack of quality content on television right now. ARY has clearly focused all its energies on visuals and is banking heavily on star power. HUM usually has one drama every season that is not commercial such as Dar Si Jati Hei Sila, Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, or Parizaad, to name a few. This time, so far, there isn’t a single drama that would fall into that category. Geo has always been commercial; Jo Bichar Gaye was an exception. Dushman on PTV is another drama that focuses more on the visuals, costumes, and over-dramatic scenes than something more meaningful. Therefore, after being disappointed with all those dramas I was actually looking forward to watching and reviewing, here I am reviewing a drama that is not picture-perfect, neither wholly artsy but definitely fits the bill.

The Review

There are multiple reasons why I took up Mor Maharan and not the other dramas which are definitely getting more ratings and attention. The number 1 reason has to be the subject matter of the drama. Right now the water shortage in Cholistan and the effects of global warming there are the lesser talked about but definitely one of the topmost issues facing the country right now. The fact that it is not on the priority list even though the people there are suffering more than ever makes it even more important. Taking up any such topic for scriptwriting is a challenging process since dramas are meant to be entertaining. Making sure that the actual meaning does not get lost, while ensuring that the script is entertaining enough, is surely one of the many challenges. When I realized that one of the co-writers of Jo Bichar Gaye was the one who wrote the script of Mor Maharan, I was especially delighted because Jo Bichar Gaye also tackled extremely challenging topics It also managed to get all the messages across with the utmost precision while keeping the viewers engaged. After watching these 3 episodes of Mor Maharan, I must say that the writer has been able to pen down a script that is both meaningful and engaging.

Another big challenge for any channel while airing such a drama is that most often such dramas do not get ratings or views. Most viewers would much rather watch a drama such as Aisi Teri Khudgarzi than Jo Bichar Gaye and Mor Maharan. This is another reason why I feel that this drama deserves a review more than the others. If it did not have quality content, no matter how unique the subject matter would have been, I would not have chosen to review it. I am glad that TV One airs such dramas because there are definitely some tracks in the story that might ‘offend’ certain people. Apart from a novel premise, the story so far is also engaging. The drama is not too artsy, it is a good balance between art and commercialism. Although, I do feel that it would have been just as good had the commercial element not been there.

Relevant and Meaningful

These 3 episodes of Mor Maharan established the main characters and their tracks convincingly. The story is set in Cholistan and it revolves around the main stakeholders. It depicts how the future generations of different political and influential families want to change the present situation. It also shows how the people in Cholistan are suffering even though the dessert is known for its beautiful culture and sites.

Mor Maharan Episodes 1 – 3 Story Review

Rohi is another name for the Cholistan desert and the main protagonist played by Sonya Hussyn has been named Rohi. I must give Sonya Hussyn credit for choosing such a project. Her character is full of life and is ambitious. A female protagonist whose sole purpose in life isn’t getting married and has a definite purpose in life is always a welcoming change. Rohi’s relationship with her father Malook Shah (Firdous Jamal) has stood out right from the beginning. Usually, you expect people such as Malook Shah to treat their sons the way he treats his daughter. Through different scenes and dialogues, the writer has shown how much he not only loves his daughter but also respects her dearly. So far his character is quite progressive. His selfies have added a humorous and light-hearted spin to the character. I am genuinely delighted to watch Firdous Jamal play this character because I have not been able to warm up to any of the characters he has played in the recent past. Malook Shah is bringing out the best in Firdous Jamal, which is the magic of good writing! Even though he exercises great influence, so far we have not seen him resorting to measures that would show him as a tyrant. One of his dialogues in the previous episode however suggested that he might have another side to his personality. Also, the fact that he has not done much practically to change the circumstances the local people are living in suggests that he is perhaps like others. But then, he has also never stopped Rohi from mingling with the locals and has clearly raised a daughter who is really proud of her roots.

What appealed to me the most in the initial episodes of Mor Mahan was Rohi’s character; the way it was written and translated on screen. The pace of these episodes was also fast. Also, the fact that Sammiya Mumtaz is finally playing the role of an independent, educated, and modern woman after such a long time was clearly a refreshing change. Almas’ backstory will probably be gradually revealed. For now, she appears to be an intelligent and kind woman. She is also independent enough to run a business empire and gets a lot of respect from the men whether it is someone who works under her or has higher standing than her. It is certainly good to see Sammiya Mumtaz in a relatively more made-up look since she usually plays characters that do not require dressing up. Gurdezi does not have a lot going from him but I like that he represents a certain identifiable class in society and through his character the writer is also highlighting another important issue. Zahid Ahmed’s performance has been impressive so far, he makes you look forward to Gurdezi’s scenes. His pride is obvious in every single scene; something Rohi noticed and shared when she saw him on television. The whole conversation centered on sugar that Rohi had with her mother was one of my favorite scenes.

Sikandar’s character is well written but poorly acted out. Mustafa Changazi I believe was chosen to play the role because of his accent. His acting has not improved much since Bari Aapa days and I can only wonder why he was chosen for this role. He still struggles to give the right expressions and his performance is anything but effortless. Ahad Raza Mir, Uzair Jaswal, Hamza Sohail, and Feroze Khan are some of the actors who could have been the perfect candidates for this role. Babar Ali’s performance also keeps me interested in his character; it seems as if Sher Aalam is hiding something. There is also definite chemistry between Almas and Sher Aalam; is he in love with Almas? There are also times when you feel as if he is the enemy! I am looking forward to finding out more about him.

Final Remarks

Mor Maharan is like a political commentary but it also has an interesting script that kept me engaged throughout. Some of the overdramatic scenes could easily have been avoided but even with those scenes, the drama, overall, is much more meaningful and appealing than the done-to-death scenarios we are getting to watch in every other drama. The writer’s approach is so far really focused therefore I have high hopes for this one. Also, special thanks to TV One for airing such dramas. If you are not watching Mor Maharan, I highly recommend it if you are tired of watching run-of-the-mill dramas. It gets better with every episode and except for Mustafa Changazi, all the other actors are perfectly suited for every role they are playing.

Do share your thoughts about the drama if you are watching it.

Mor Maharan Episode 7 – 8 Story Review

Mor Maharan continues to be an interesting drama even though the treatment given to the script fails to impress at times. Mor Maharan’s script and most of the performances continue to be its strengths. The overall setting of the drama is definitely another plus. Production values and editing have to be two of its weakest elements. So far, Rohi is the star of the show. She is the most progressive female lead we have seen in recent times. That could also be the reason why one of the leading channels refused to invest their money in the drama! Right now, the leading channels are banking on the bechari aurat more than ever and Rohi is anything but that! Apart from Rohi’s character, Gardezi’s character development has my undivided attention as well, particularly after the latest episode. Sonya Hussyn and Zahid Ahmed deserve tons of appreciation for doing justice to their respective characters. Rohi and Sikandar’s track has been written down in a non-desi way and is refreshing; Mustafa Changazi’s shaky performance however is taking away the charm. I want to take Sikandar seriously since this character has so much going for it but the unimpressive performance makes it impossible to do so.

The Love Triangle

Rohi, Sikandar, and Gardezi’s love triangle is finally shaping up. Rohi has Gardezi’s attention; I liked the way this track was taken forward. Gardezi had the tendency to be one of those done-to-death characters who are powerful and self-obsessed but he is not showing such tendencies as of now. He does not see Rohi as a trophy that he wants to win and he did not perceive Rohi’s defiance as a challenge. At first, he was confused about his current state of mind, and then after getting some clarity, he decided to follow his heart. The great thing is that following his heart didn’t mean using all his resources to “own” Rohi but it meant paying heed to the advice given to him by Rohi. This came subconsciously and it made good sense because Rohi’s stance was logical. Their interactions have so far been really powerful. These scenes have been well written and translated on screen brilliantly. Although Sikandar and Rohi’s track gets more screen time, Gardezi and Rohi leave a lot more impact. I was waiting to see Gardezi’s reaction once he found out who Rohi was and I must say that this was also handled well. The way he found out and the manner in which he reacted, both were pleasant surprises. He did not go around asking other people about Rohi but asked her directly and got a direct answer as well. The character development in this regard has been done unexpectedly well. On the other hand, Sikandar has been confessing his love for Rohi repeatedly and is not happy with the fact that she is not reciprocating.

Mor Maharan Episode 7 – 8 Story Review

Sikandar’s style is non-desi and goes well with his character. Mustafa Changazi’s performance was relatively better in a few of the scenes but he falls short miserably while translating intense emotions on screen. Sikandar’s dysfunctional relationship with his mother is one of the most important aspects of his character but Mustafa’s performance undermines the intensity of such scenes. Also, it is slightly frustrating watching Almas not being able to communicate with her son properly even though they are living under the same roof. Nawab Feroze’s character helps the viewers understand why Sikandar is so bitter and perhaps selfish too! When he “needed” something from his mother, he was nice to her but now that his father is there he does not even give her the respect she deserves. Even though Rohi has not confessed her love for Sikandar but it is quite obvious that she also has feelings for him. In these 2 episodes, she rejected his proposal twice which basically means that she is not ready to get married just yet. It is interesting watching such a romantic track in a Pakistani drama. Rohi is aware of her feelings for Sikandar but she also knows that she is not ready for a commitment yet. Sikandar also knows that Rohi is not willing to make such a commitment, yet he is not angry and does not hold her decision against her in any way. It is definitely a well-written track.

Toxic Relationship

Almas and Feroze’s toxic relationship also got a lot of screen time in these two episodes. Feroze is obviously the one responsible since he is not just a selfish person with no morals but he particularly enjoys watching Almas suffer. Adnan Jaffar has done an outstanding job translating this character on screen since I hated watching this character in these 2 episodes. He made me as uncomfortable as Almas felt around him because the performance was so on point. He is greedy as well, which is probably why he has Sikandar wrapped around his finger. Sammiya Mumtaz also continues to impress in this role. I love her wardrobe and makeover as well. It gives her a graceful vibe which is one of the essential elements of the character. This graceful woman has a traumatic past and an ex who plays mind games, she cannot help falling for. But she picks herself up every time and does not let all that break her.

We also found out a little bit more about Sher Alam’s character and his relationship with Almas. “The driver” always came across as someone important, he piqued my curiosity right from the get-go. Feroze and Sikandar’s accusations are obviously made up but there is more to Sher Alam’s story for sure. One thing which is clearer than ever is that he has immense respect for Almas. What is the reason for that? I am really waiting to find out.

Malook Shah’s brief appearances in these episodes were meaningful. He is an intelligent and insightful man. There is also something about him that makes me wonder if he has a dark side as well. This is one of the best roles Firdous Jamal has played in a long time. It is good to see him in a role that brings out the best in him.

Final Remarks

Mor Maharan has a brilliantly penned-down script and quite a few impressive performances. Since it is more of an artsy drama, it grows on you gradually. It is one of those few dramas nowadays that I personally find meaningful and engaging. This drama could have been a complete package if the editing was smoother and the background music was not so confusing at times. I also think that casting Mustafa Changazi was a big mistake since his performance is sticking out like a sore thumb. Overall however I would choose Mor Maharan over many of the other plays on air nowadays, any day of the week.

Mor Maharan Episode 4 – 6 Story Review

These 3 episodes of Mor Maharan covered all the tracks and also gave further insights into the characters. The most recent episode covered Almas’ backstory as well. There was more focus on Rohi and Sikandar’s track in the 4th and 5th episodes which I felt could easily have been replaced with showing more of Gurdezi. Gurdezi and Rohi’s first actual meeting was also covered last week. Mor Maharan has an interesting storyline that holds your interest but the production values are not as grand as most Pakistani dramas right now. However, I feel that it is better than the rest of the plays right now with run-of-the-mill stories. Also, I have to say that Mustafa Changazi’s acting is turning out to be the most annoying aspect of the drama. Sikandar’s characters get a lot of screen time, it definitely is layered, it is also well-written but Mustafa Changazi is seen struggling while giving the right expressions most of the time.

Another aspect of the show which I hope gets better is the fact that the story of different characters has not been spread evenly in different episodes. It would be far better to show a little bit of all the tracks in each episode instead of focusing on a single one. Rohi continues to be the main attraction. I see Mor Maharan as a story of strong-willed women more than anything else, at this point. Right now, the water issue which was introduced as one of the main focal points of the story is not getting as much attention as it was before. However, there are various aspects of respecting the culture, heritage, and life of the area which were covered in these episodes. Mor Maharan keeps me intrigued and looking forward to more even though at times the treatment given to the play is not too impressive.

Interesting Characters

Mor Maharan’s intriguing and interesting characters continue to be its strength. Even after these 6 episodes, I feel I am still getting to know these characters. The writer is slowly unveiling the backgrounds, strengths, and weaknesses of the main characters. Each one of these characters has a story to tell and so far all these stories are equally interesting. It is also good to watch a leading lady who is fierce, unapologetic, and has a goal in life. At the same time, she is romantic and completely capable of falling in love. Rohi’s character has been penned down brilliantly. Rohi and Gurdezi’s first meeting was powerful – perhaps a little too filmy but definitely different and likable. Much better than a woman falling in the arms of a man, as was the case with Rohi and Sikandar! Clearly, the actual love story is that of Rohi and Sikandar but it seems as if Rohi might end up with Gurdezi. Even though Gurdezi’s character doesn’t have much to offer – he is a corrupt politician who thinks the world revolves around him – I like Zahid Ahmed in the avatar. He makes his presence felt in every scene and I find myself wanting to know more about this man even though so far it seems as if there isn’t much to the character. Rohi definitely left an impression on Gurdezi but he was not shown ‘pursuing’ her as is mostly the case in Pakistani dramas! Sooner or later he will find out who she is and I am waiting to find out how that particular part is handled. It is refreshing to watch that this man has a life other than pursuing a woman who he found attractive.

Mor Maharan Episode 4 – 6 Story Review

Almas is another strong woman with an interesting background. It is really good watching Sammiya Mumtaz play this character. Even though Sikandar keeps on telling her off, she does not stop trying. She is mature, intelligent, and graceful. Sikandar’s character comes across as annoying primarily because of the way it has been translated on screen. After meeting his father, it was obvious why this boy is spoiled and problematic. Nawab Feroze is equally selfish and his idea of love is quite twisted as well. Almas and Sher Alam’s relationship has been penned down and portrayed superbly. The element of respect on both sides and the way Sher Alam feels about Almas are all too evident. Babar Ali’s nuanced performance has won me over completely. Even though it is evident that Almas has nothing but regard for this man, Babar Ali through his performance has made it evident right from the start that he loves Almas. There is definitely more to Malook Shah’s character as well. Even though he seems like someone who is not too rigid but there must be a reason why Almas is so scared of Sikandar getting too close to Rohi. He might come across as progressive but he is definitely hiding something from the viewers and his own daughter.

I am not sure if it was such a great idea to use the senior actors for playing the younger roles in order to show the flashback scenes. It came across as staged. It would have been better if younger actors were used to playing these roles. That would definitely have been more realistic.

Final Remarks

These 3 episodes of Mor Maharan were interesting enough to keep my interest alive. This drama also reminds me of old PTV dramas since it does not bank on commercialism as much as most of the dramas nowadays do. So far, the script has a lot going for it and apart from Mustafa, everyone else is doing their part so well. There is something refreshing and different about all the tracks which make Mor Maharan one of those dramas which are a nice break from the majority of the ‘typical’ dramas we get to see nowadays.

Mor Mahal – Episode 14! (Last Review)

0

Ohkay so, Nawab Nosha Asif Jahan ka sabun slow hai kya? Like I have said before, this entire drama is running on the basis of communication gap & the way they have brought the fact that this is the king & his family & the affairs concerning a government, that we are watching, everything that is happening makes it even harder to believe & execution of each & every situation seems like a joke to me!

Asif Jahan ordered Taimur’s arrest only on the bases of rumors that he heard that too even before he inquired what actually happened & what was the reality. Where was the inquiry committee & where were the eye witnesses that could testify against Taimur that he was the one who killed Dilawar Khan? As usual, just because Asif Jahan is impulsive & just because he’s missing a prowess of rational analyzation of a situation, he put his own son behind bars? Quite smart I must say. Later he did realize that he did something wrong & he after realizing that he doesn’t have another son, so because like I said his sabun is slow, he ordered everyone to bring in the eye witnesses to know what actually happened, whereas this was something that he should’ve done before taking the decision of arresting Taimur.

As Asif Jahan tried to dig deep into this affair, he found out that all the ladies of his house had more brains than him & may be that’s why he lost his in the last part of the episode. After meeting Taimur, Asif Jahan got to know about the letter that Badshah Begum wrote to Dilawar ordering him to kill Taimur, which makes me wonder why didn’t Taimur hand this letter over to his father the moment he returned to Mor Mahal after winning a battle? What was he waiting for? I don’t really understand because what Taimur read in that letter was a big deal so why did he take it so lightly & choose to spend so many days in the prison for no good reason? After inquiring from Badshah Begum, Asif Jahan found out that Farrukh Zaad also sent her brother to kill Dilawar Khan & that’s when Asif Jahan lost it. He was so confused & heart-broken that while he was busy being in love with all these ladies, they were back stabbing him hard!

I really am not sure why Asif Jahan hasn’t snapped out of the fact that Dilawar Khan is dead, like what was so special about him that he is ready to put everything, especially his son at stake for just a guy who was his adviser & nothing else? I really believe Asif Jahan’s priorities are not in place because no matter what happens, no one puts anyone ahead of their children at least. The way Asif Jahan is mourning the death of Dilawar Khan shows that deep down he is hurt to see Taimur alive in stead of Dilawar Khan!

After seeing that Asif found out the truth about Farrukh Zaad, Badshah Begum made her move once again & told him to let Shujat succeed him, like does she really think that Asif Jahan is going to listen to her after finding out that she wants her grandson & Asif’s son Taimur killed? I think what Farrukh Zaad told her brother to do is justified because she was protecting her son after finding out that Badshah Begum had ordered Dilawar to kill him, but there’s nothing that can justify what Badshah Begum did & there’s nothing that can justify her evil intentions of having her own grandson killed only because she hates Farrukh Zaad?

Akhtari predicted that Shujat will come into the power & looks like what Akhtari says or does turns out to be true, so I will request the director to let Akhtari go in a trance & tell us the remaining story in one go because she can foresee the future & I can not sit through this drama anymore to see what is yet to come. I am actually disappointed that this drama has turned out to be like this where there’s nothing special about it, where it turned out to be another story which showcases the politics between women & nothing else. I really had high hopes with the character of Asif Jahan because he seemed like a perfect ruler but as the episodes progressed I found out that he was everything but that as in stead of him doing the brainstorming, it was the women of Mor Mahal who were in charge of the situation & were indirectly running the government themselves. I actually missed seeing the ruler’s ministers & I missed seeing huge assemblies where they would be discussing the affairs of the state, they did however show a meeting that Asif Jahan had with the experts who were less in number but were too old to think straight. It looks like Asif Jahan is the only man who is running the government himself which actually again is a delusion as it is not him who was doing all the thinking, it was either Badshah Begum or Wazeer Begum that would do that & IF Asif Jahan planned on taking an action on something, that again turned out to be an idea that was whispered in his ear by another woman named Shahista.

I actually thought that they would take us on a journey through history where they will cover all the aspects of how a government is run by the ruler but ever since the drama has begun, seems like they wanted to show everything but that & sadly, it ended up looking like a saas bahu saga set in a royal setting in an olden era. Also, what happened by the end of this episode is enough to show that the main lead isn’t strong enough whereas I wanted to see a ruthless king who actually ran the affairs & tackled them on his own terms & conditions but seems like Asif Jahan was too engulfed in loving the ladies that he didn’t mind them doing what seemed to be his job!

Well, in this episode, Asif Jahan has lost his marbles & as the preview suggested, he won’t be regaining his senses anytime soon, so what’s the point of watching a drama where the main lead is so so so weak mentally that he couldn’t tackle a high-pressure situation. I think this episode sealed the deal for me & I am done watching this drama. This is going to be the last review of this drama as I am done trying & I am done getting disappointed week after week. I am actually not sure what went wrong at the creative team’s end because this doesn’t come near the work that Surmed Sultan Khoosat has done previously. Even though I haven’t seen Mera Sultan but I have read plenty of comments on the social media where everyone made it obvious that Mor Mahal was an attempt to recreate Mera Sultan but they failed miserably so even though I haven’t watched Mera Sultan, I still say that it was a very weak attempt so, better luck next time guys! However, before concluding the review I will say that Umair Jaswasl has emerged as a promising actor & I think he should consider giving acting career a go & I wish to see him in more dramas in the future. Anyways, please share your final goodbyes at this last review of Mor Mahal!

ps: My dear readers who have been reading my reviews from the last few years know that I have endured high-intensity tortures like Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai, Izteraab, Aahista Aahista, Tumhare Siwa & never gave up despite them telling me to but this time around, I don’t think I can waste my time anymore & yes, I’m losing my patience so for that reason quite happily, I declare that I give up!!!

Mor Mahal – Episode 13!

Ohkay so, to be honest, this episode of Mor Mahal was pretty decent. May be I feel that way because I have made myself understand that things in Mor Mahal are going to revolve around the ladies, their lives & their politics only, so if we watch this drama with that perspective, we can watch it just for the sake of it but if we’re going to have some expectations, then that’s going to be our fault only.

Akhtari convinced Badshah Begum that Meher Bano & Banki were putting up an act & for that reason, Badshah Begum ended up questioning Banki & she easily confessed that she was carrying Asif Jahan’s child. Badshah Begum has made it quite evident that she will go to any lengths to defeat Farrukh Zaad & also, she will do everything in her might to prevent Taimur from becoming the ruler after Asif Jahan, that is why, just in a split of a second she accepted what Banki told her as she knew she had that child that Badshah Begum was waiting for quite eagerly.

I must say, everything can be forgiven but what can’t is the fact that the walls of Mor Mahal are made of cardboard because the way everyone can hear everything from the basement is actually quite amusing. Meher Bano being a resident of the basement knows everything that transpires at the top floor & so does Shahista & also, I must say Shahista’s timing is perfect, it’s like she has these sensors in her body that tell her to go to the basement because there she will get to listen to something highly confidential & important. Also, looks like some novice architect designed Mor Mahal because the way Shahista & Meher Bano eavesdrop on Asif Jahan & Badshah Begum makes it look like their rooms are side by side, which is actually quite amusing considering how it is a Mahal & how there should be separate portions for everyone. I fail to believe that Asif Jahan & Badshah Begum share a wall because the way their voices are heard from the basement makes it look exactly like that. Anyways, Meher Bano, through the cardboard wall heard that Badshah Begum planned on getting rid of Banki once she gave birth to the baby of Asif Jahan, therefore she decided to swoop in & save the day, which she actually couldn’t!!!

I think before the crowning ceremony, Asif Jahan should’ve done something about Jamshed but he seems to be in a hurry for all the wrong reasons. He wanted to crown Banki & that’s when he got to know that she wasn’t his wife. At least Meher Bano did try to save Banki because she knew about the evil intentions of Badshah Begum, I guess when Meher Bano found enough courage in her to confess everything, she should’ve taken Badshah Begum’s name in front of Asif Jahan as well to make things a bit more clear & add more weight to her confessions that she wasn’t lying. Well, looks like Banki underestimated Asif Jahan’s love for her & she chose to end her life. That scene was a bit emotional only because Banki ended up dying for no good reason & also because she was the one that Asif Jahan truly loved. Banki was innocent & she didn’t deserve to die like that but no idea what was running through her mind.

Meher Bano ended up getting arrested & looks like things are once again in going to turn in Farrukh Zaad’s favor because Asif Jahan has lost his new born Jamshed & the hope of having another baby has died with the death of Banki too. Farrukh Zaad will once again end up having an upper hand because only her son Taimur is alive & it is imperative that he is going to succeed Asif Jahan. I actually thought that Surraya was killed but I was surprised to see her alive, I guess Asif Jahan is quite inconsistent when it comes to love because out of his love for Surraya he made sure to win a bet for her sake, but ever since she came in Mor Mahal, Asif Jahan didn’t really bother much about her & even now he seemed indifferent to her condition & suffering because he was to busy mourning the death of Banki; his new found love, while completely forgetting about the promise he made to Surraya about Jamshed. Well, honestly speaking, I won’t be surprised if I see a new female character making an entry in Asif Jahan’s life & if I see Asif Jahan falling madly in love with her (for a couple of episodes). Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mor Mahal.

Mor Mahal – Episode 12!

Ohkay so, I am not sure what to say about the latest developments in the story. Things are only focusing on what the ladies of the house are doing & it has been that way since the story has begun. The war between Asif/Taimur & Shujat made things looks promising & gave us a false hope that may be the focus of the story will shift towards something more meaningful but that doesn’t seem to be the case because we’re back to square one & once again, the ladies are setting traps for one another, which seems quite boring to be honest!

Farrukh Zaad was already heartbroken at how Asif Jahan got Taimur arrested, which was enough of a pain for her to deal with but things got even more difficult for her when Badshah Begum & Asif Jahan demanded the keys back from her. Farrukh Zaad actually thought that she will get away after being rude to her husband & after threatening him so disrespectfully but looks like Asif Jahan decided to show Farrukh Zaad her place by telling how she had to respect certain limits or else he would snatch everything away from her. Shahista & Farrukh Zaad had this confidence only because they thought they had a very important card under their belt which was the secret of Meher Bano & Banki, but sadly, they won’t be able to use it as things have started to become difficult for them too & Akhtari has already informed Badshah Begum about what has happened right under her nose.

Badshah Begum had to prove to Farrukh Zaad that she can change the fate of anyone if she wants to, that’s why she wanted to hand over the keys to Meher Bano through Banki. She finally met Banki & that’s when Akhtari grew suspicious of her & not only that, she actually was sure that something was definitely wrong at Banki & Meher Bano’s side. For the first time may be, Akhtari’s farsightedness didn’t disappoint her & she was right in assuming that Banki was expecting a child, which was later proved by what she heard from Meher Bano herself. Meher Bano hasn’t given up on her love Kabeer just yet but she has grown sick of being in an isolation, that’s why she wants Banki to help her out by requesting Asif Jahan to send her maid back home & for that she doesn’t mind taking up a role of being Banki’s maid too.

Akhtari reported the entire situation to Badshah Begum & it was expected that she wouldn’t believe what she’ll hear because no one could’ve imagined that this is the sort of a game that Meher Bano or Banki could play. Looks like Badshah Begum’s wrath will be directed towards Banki more than Meher Bano but I hope after the truth is exposed, Meher Bano stands up for Banki & doesn’t just leave her in the lurch because she is the one who ordered Banki to do what she did as she was helpless.

Looks like Surraya’s case is closed & she has been put to rest, which again seems odd considering how her fate was decided without the knowledge of Asif Jahan & I still find it hard to believe that he hasn’t even spoken about his new born Jamshed’s kidnapping once. Sadly, Mor Mahal’s script isn’t as good as I expected it to be & somehow this drama is turning out to be a joke which once can watch & laugh at as things & the characters are hardly making any sense anymore. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mor Mahal if unfortunately, you’ve watched it!

Mor Mahal – Episode 11!

Mor Mahal is a story that exemplifies how things roll & get ruined just on the basis of communication gap. Ever since the drama has begun, there’s everything that happens between the characters except communication & this is what happened in this episode too. I hate to say but this drama is turning out to be a disappointment with each passing episode because there’s no substance in the characters nor the situations.

I actually giggled when I saw Asif Jahan dressed appropriate for a fancy dress competition, it showed that he put in a lot of effort & a lot of thought went into his looks & appearance whereas he forgot that he had a stolen baby to take care of too. I think the kidnapping of Jamshed hasn’t been tackled properly because Asif Jahan made a promise to Surraiya that he would do everything to find him & ever since, he has worried about everything but Jamshed. It was only Surraiya who took things in her hands & protested, blaming Badshah Begum & Farrukh Zaad for the kidnapping of her son. Chalo, at least there was someone who was worried about that little fellow otherwise, the one who should actually be worried for him is too busy dressing up!!!

Dilawar Khan died, boo hoo, but are we supposed to feel for him as much as Asif Jahan felt because he was just introduced as an adviser to him, but seeing how the entire episode got dedicated to him left me confused. All I know is that no one in Asif Jahan’s family held a high opinion of Dilawar Khan, so not really sure if he deserved this much coverage. Also, I didn’t feel much for him because all this while, seeing Asif Jahan crying buckets for Dilawar seemed distasteful, especially because there were no efforts being made by him to find Jamshed, his new born that was kidnapped probably weeks ago, which should’ve been his priority but seems like Asif Jahan suffers from short term memory loss! I feel the chronology of the events isn’t right in Mor Mahal!!!

Taimur returned victorious, where Farrukh Zaad was ecstatic, Badshah Begum felt defeated. I hated the way Badshah Begum spoke about Taimur’s death, just because Akhtari reminded her that if Taimur becomes the ruler, Farrukh Zaad will have an upper hand over her. I guess Badshah Begum needs to understand that everything has a certain time limit & a date of expiry, it’s not like she is going to live forever, that she wishes to maintain her status by wishing to eliminate Taimur from everyone’s life. Also, being a mother of Asif Jahan, she has been a mother of the ruler for quite some time now, so, she should back out & let Farrukh Zaad taste her son’s success, what’s the point of waging a war against her own flesh & blood & hating him so much only because of the fact that she’s not on good terms with her daughter in law.

I actually find it funny that a man of Asif Jahan’s stature turns into bheegi billi in front of the ladies of his house & gets treated worse. Asif Jahan said that the ladies have no say in the matters of the state but it doesn’t seem to be that case, because when Taimur was fighting a battle with Shujat, both Badshah Begum & Farrukh Zaad played their part too where the former told Dilawar to kill Taimur & the latter told her brother to swoop in to protect her son. Also, Asif Jahan vigilantly pays heed to Shahista’s advises too, so when does his brain work or when does he put it to good use because seems like he forgets that he’s the ruler & he has the authority over everything!

Like I said in the last review, I will say that again, the communication gap forced Asif Jahan to get Taimur arrested because he assumed that it was Taimur who killed Dilawar Khan & then the same communication gap created a rift between him & his wife too. I actually didn’t think that Asif Jahan will be so insecure & will be such a coward that just one win by his son will make him dubious of his intentions & will force him to question his son’s loyalty. Just because Asif Jahan heard a few guys say that Taimur might end up killing him for the sake of throne, he got him arrested & smirked at his decision thinking that he scored a big win against his wife & his son!?!?! LOL!

Anyways, not sure what to expect because the preview of the next episode once again told that the communication gap will be stronger & will once again play a part in this drama. Looks like Akhtari will finally find out that Banki is posing to be Meher Bano, I actually would like to see how Badshah Begum will realize that it was her laziness that allowed all that to happen right under her nose as she didn’t bother visiting her favorite bahu once in all these months! Also, I must say that even though I like all the sets, I feel they needed more variety for filming this drama as it looks like all the characters keep to & froing within 2 – 3 rooms which makes everything looks tedious & yes, I do understand that they have tried to keep things realistic by showing us the natural & dull lighting to give feel of that era but please, bright karain isay, bright karainnnn!!!! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mor Mahal.

Mor Mahal – Episode 10!

Ohkay so, I wish I could say that as much thought was given to dialogues, was given to the script of Mor Mahal too because the story is falling flat as the episodes are passing by & there’s nothing much happening in the drama to keep our interest alive & keep the viewers looking out for more. I wish I could say that the story had the substance that the dialogues of Mor Mahal have & honestly speaking at times such complicated dialogues do not hit home because the content of their conversations lack substance to begin with.

Even though the war between the states of Shujat & Asif is giving the story a much needed twist but I wish the bone of contention between the two brothers was something else because I actually had a laugh thinking that just because Shujat couldn’t get the ‘kaneez’ he was head over heels in love with & just because Asif grew possessive about his ‘kaneez’ that he had no idea about, they both decided to wage war at each other. Shujat circulated his own currency over an unknown woman & Asif called his son to fight his brother over an unknown woman too. I am sure even Meher Bano doesn’t know that she is the ‘fasad ki jarh’ here & so much has happened only because both the brothers are trying to prove Meher Bano’s ownership to one & another.

So, Badshah Begum wants Asif to have the rule over the state that falls under the rule of Meher Bano’s brother, that is why she is so keen on Meher Bano’s son as she sees him as a ticket to the grabbing of one more state but to see her wishing death upon her own grandson Taimur was actually disturbing. Just because Badshah Begum doesn’t want Farrukh Zaad to have an upper hand on her, she didn’t hold back in wishing to see Taimur dead because she would love to sacrifice her grandson but not see the mother of that grandson have a moment of glory & then Badshah Begum’s fixation with Meher Bano’s son makes her look paranoid & clueless because she herself has never visited Meher Bano to know where she is, especially when she has such high expectations of her! I always thought that the ladies of the house will stay involved in defeating each other but never knew that their personal hostility will put a dent on the state & affect its matters too & then I heard Asif Jahan say that the women of his family are not allowed to have a say in the running of the government & its matters!

Farrukh Zaad wrote a letter to her brother just so that he could protect her son Taimur & Badshah Begum wrote a letter to Dilawar Khan to tell him that she wishes to see Taimur dead if he defeats Shujat. Looks like Farrukh Zaad’s brother will make an entry in the near future. Well, it was actually amusing to see Asif Jahan being engaged in lovey dovey conversations with Banki but not worrying sick about the kidnapping of his new born, it was like a forgotten ordeal that he wasn’t bothered about. He promised Surraiya that he won’t sit still till he finds their son but I guess he forgot about his promise the moment he walked out of her room & came in contact with another woman of his house, be it Shahista, Farrukh Zaad or Banki!

I am not sure why the director & the writer didn’t really think things through & why didn’t they try to make the situations more engaging & meaningful. Till date the main focus was on the ladies & now when the focus has started to shift away, the events that are taking place are not really making much sense & are not sparking an interest either. I know the story of the drama will be covered in a lot of episodes but I wish they had kept the episodes lesser & had focused more on the substance of the story in other words, more focus on the quality rather than the quantity! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mor Mahal (if you watched it)!
