She is known for being blunt and straight-forward. The actress was a guest on Tauseeq Haider’s new podcast and spoke about her real age and how she has changed over the years.
Jia Ali was very open about her age and she revealed that she has turned 53 years old this year. She was very confident unlike many other women her age and shared that this is not a very old age. The 70s and 80s are when you really become senior. She is now fully mature, her mind is stable and she is at peace with her life. She never hides her age from anyone and does not understand the wisdom behind doing it.
This is what she shared:
Jia Ali has also evolved over the years. She revealed that she uses mud utensils and wooden spatulas to cook her food. She has cut down chemicals from her life. Her food is cooked in mud pots while all those utensils are then cleaned with soda and lemon. She does not want synthetic materials to enter her food. She added that her energy has gotten better with years and she is now emotionally very stable. This came from her mother who always used organic stuff.
Listen to what she shared:
Jia Ali also spoke about how she was not able to forgive people as easily as she can now. She took 30 years to forgive her father. Her parents had a rocky relationship and then they got divorced. She had seen violence in that bond and despite her mother’s encouragement to meet her father, it took her years to feel normal about that relationship. Meditation is what helped her in the end:
Jia Ali got married at a later age. She said that she married for herself and her brothers who wanted to see her settle down. She never took society’s pressure. She is happy that she took this decision on her own terms.

Jia Ali who belongs to the supermodel catergory of models in Pakistan and who is also an actress and has worked in many dramas has recently said that the new generation of filmmakers are introducing the Pakistani cinema industry in the world through their quality and interesting films.
She also said that it is needed that such filmmakers should be encouraged as Pakistani filmmakers are going towards improvement with the passage of time.
She even announced that she’ll also do a film if something which suits her is offered to her.
“A filmmaker will not achieve success until he produces movies that are according to the standards of box office and temperament of the audience,” she said.
Jia Ali is an actress and model who has always been very bold and vocal. She was a guest on a podcast and spoke about her life, career, marriage and parents. She has seen a lot of pain about her parents’ health and she got emotional as she revealed what she has been through in her life.
Jia Ali revealed that her mother passed away at a young age as she was severely sick. Speaking about that phase of her life and what her mother went through made her sad. She said that her mother got married at the tender age of 16 and had 5 kids. She kept working till a senior age and never took care of herself. This is a loss that she was not able to process for years after her mother passed away.
This is what she said:
Jia Ali broke into tears as she shared how she still feels that she never openly expressed her love for her mother who made so many sacrifices for her. Her mother was a great woman and she just got into working and providing for her family. She became like a man and never told her how she felt about her. Her mother remained extremely sick in her old age, she even went into a coma and she just had to witness those last years of her mother’s which are still fresh in her mind.
Listen to what she revealed:
Jia Ali received the call of her mother’s death while she was in Islamabad. She went into a trance and her mind forgot that her mother is no more. She did not go to Lahore for her funeral and went to Karachi for her work. Her family buried her mother two days later as they could not contact her. She did not cry or react and it took her 4 days to just accept that her mother was not there. This is one of the darkest times of her life. She started facing alopecia and depression after that.
Dr Omer Adil spoke against Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan starrer Love Guru. He watched the film and he felt they both looked too old for their characters and they should have avoided starring in a young age love story. He did not mince his words and he was very harsh on everyone involved in that film. He bluntly criticized the writing, direction and actors in that movie.
This is what he said:
This review brought on a lot of criticism on Dr Omer Adil for his ageist and inappropriate remarks. Social media was against the words that he used against both Humayun Saeed and Mahira Khan.
Jia Ali is now standing up for Dr Omer Adil and she defended him against the criticism that he got for his review. Jia Ali said that we should listen to criticism especially from Dr Omer Adil as he is very knowledgeable about films. His thoughts should be listened to and we can improve ourselves. She added that she has not seen Love Guru but she thinks that people will not troll you if you will play age appropriate roles. She added that love stories of mature people should be written where you can play the leads as people of all ages have love stories. She quoted herself that she got married at a later age and she has a beautiful love story with her husband which can be turned into a film.
Jia Ali is a supermodel of the 90s and early 2000s. She has been a part of the fashion industry for ages now and she also had a stellar acting career. She has faced a huge scandal in her career in the very beginning and it still follows her to this day. She is a blunt and straight forward person and spoke about this scandal head on.
Jia Ali started her career by working at Masarrat Misbah’s salon. She was 18 when she worked there and she was later allegedly fired. The scandal came about that Jia was having an affair with Masarrat Misbah’s then husband. This led to the couple’s divorce and Masarrat fired Jia Ali from her salon. Jia later started modelling and acting.
Jia Ali has addressed this in a podcast named The Blue Truth Digital. She said that she was 18 and that was Masarrat Misbah’s second marriage with a man named Aamir who was like a brother to her. Miss Misbah tried to stop her from certain things as her marriage was in shambles but as a teenager she did not understand those nuances. Later the couple got divorced and as she was a young model, her name was scandalized with the husband. She was also banned at places from working but she became a successful model.
This is what Jia Ali had to say:
The internet is reacting to her statement. One said, “You were her kaam wali.” Another added, “She destroyed Masarrat’s home.” One went, “Masarrat is an angel and never badmouthed her.” Here is the reaction:
While most of us do not like talking about her we must have definitely come across the viral video of hers with a 12-year old kid Arbaz Khan. So far the video titled “Jhootha” has earned for itself uncountable likes and shares over the social media which has sparkled the success of it.
“It’s a nice, lovable and cute video and there is nothing chichora (cheap) about it,” This is what mathira has to say about the video and she completely neglects the negative perception which has arisen from public on her video.
Mathira may sound shocked by what she likes to call a ‘strange’ response from the public, but the negative response has more to do with her cosying up to a 12-year-old than anything else. One might find the featuring of the young boy as a gimmick to get the attention, but Mathira believes that it’s just cute.
“What if a kid is praising me in a cute fashion?” she asks her critics.“What’s wrong with a young boy coming up to you and saying that you are so beautiful? After all, appreciation does come in many forms.”
She shared the concept behind the video, which was about a young fan that accidentally runs into Mathira, and starts praising her in his own way. Arbaz Khan is an upcoming rapper signed up by the same record label as Mathira, Beyond Records. Mathira believes Arbaz, who wrote all the lyrics himself, is a very talented musician and has done a great job.
“More than promoting new talent, it was an honour for me and Arbaaz to perform alongside one another, and haters will hate no matter what I do” she says.
The memes popping are mainly critical of Mathira’s wardrobe, deeming it to be vulgar.
“This is where the Pakistani double standard comes in,” she scoffs.
“What’s wrong with a kid being featured in a video along with a girl in a jumpsuit, when every other kid in Pakistan has listened to songs which are ten times more vulgar, such as Candy Shop.”
Mathira strongly believes that people tend to mix culture with entertainment, something that she had to argue about when she started her career as a late night show, and continues to do so with this video.
“We should not mix media and entertainment with culture. Media is flashy, glamorous and fake, so let be like that!”
We all know that the young lady does know how to remain in the lime light of the industry. She also contributed in an Indian Film performing an item number, then she also got hold of an Indian advertisement which also became a subject of concern in our industry but she is brave enough to fight with all and similarly she does with it too – The new video of hers with a kid
We wish her good luck and expect her to come with something SENSIBLE, the next time which doesn’t at least get covered with controversies
Let us know whether you have also seen the video and do write to us about your take on her video’s popularity
I had written off ‘Jhoot’. I like romantic comedies that are regularly churned out by our various TV channels. To me ‘Jhoot’ was not too attractive as it did not have the usual ‘ hot ‘ couple in the lead. And that is true. It has actors… talented actors who are making each and every character come alive. Slowly, as I have watched episode after episode, I am impressed with the very important message in the very strong script. Deviating from the usual’ maa kay peron talay jannat hay’ and ‘ maa ka hokum maanina ain ibaadat hay’ it talks about how mothers can manipulate the love and obedience of their children to fulfill their selfish motives. It talks about how the involvement and unnecessary interference of families can create havoc in the lives of two newlywed couple. Two people who love each other and left to their own devices would gel and bond easily have to face tension and problems just because of the attitude of their families.
Bushra Ansari as usual gives a stellar performance as the controlling mother. She is a true control freak who wants to decide everything-from the clothes of her daughter to the life of her son. She thinks nothing of using lies as a means to getting her goals. Hers is a very interesting and true character. You see so many women who think they can do no wrong and they know all. She is manipulative and thinks that she alone knows what is best for her children. What the children want is not her concern. Highlighting a character like her is very important as we need to identify women like her who are letting their daughters grow old in ‘ khoob say khoob tar ki talaash’
Mansha Pasha is as usual very impressive. She has nailed the character of ‘Zara’ an innocent meek girl who is very much impressed with her mother and obeys her blindly. Though she does everything that an ideal bahu would do but the mess created by her mother causes her heartache at every juncture. Mansha known for her fantastic performance of the tez taraar ‘ Aliya’ in MSKSH does a completely opposite role of a girl whose simplicity is almost border line idiocy. She is very convincing in this role too. She also looks beautiful in this serial.
Imran Ashraf is an actor who is giving some very impressive performances. He has a lot of talent and will go a long way. He truly depicts the pressures of young men who are crushed between their wives and the love of their wives.
Kamran Jeelani and Mira Sethi again have done very well and look good together. Both give very convincing performances. Again Mira looks pretty and the make up artist of this serial should be given a pat on the back.
I must congratulate the Director and Script writer for daring to pick up this different story which is based on the simple fact that to hide one lie one has to lie a hundred times. The way our families take the easy way out by resorting to lies is what is highlighted here and has been wonderfully portrayed by the trials and tribulations faced by different characters in this drama. It is important to highlight these problems of our society so … Well done!
Jhoot is a story revolving around one character that is Saleha (Bushra Ansari) who belongs to highly qualified background. She is shown as very stubborn lady. She got married to Farooq (Anwar Iqbal) who worked all his life abroad and came back home after retirement. At the time of her marriage, her in laws lied regarding the engineering degree of her husband about which she gets to know after marriage. All her life, she keep nagging and accusing her husband on this lie that he made that he had engineering degree rather, he was only diploma holder in engineering. Long story short, she do not bother existence of her husband and leads the decision of her house and her children.
She has two children. Waqar (Kamran Jilani) and Zara (Mansha Pasha) who are all under her control. They obey their mother and do not care about their father because they think their mother is always right and always choose right for them.
Waqar likes one girl Sadaf (Mira Sethi) and both plan to getting married. However, one day Saleha see them together in restaurant and get extremely annoyed that next day she goes to her brother’s home and asks for her daughter’s hand for Waqar and informs Waqar when she comes back home. Waqar silently accepts her mother decision and break up with Sadaf. Later on, Waqar’s fiancée starts calling her because she thinks there is no harm in talking on phone as now they are engaged. However, one day Saleha witness Waqar talking to her fiancee at which she gets upset again and goes to her brother’s home and break the engagement telling them that their daughter is not fit for Waqar as she does calls her which is very cheap. Then she tells Waqar that she broke his engagement. Waqar tells her mother about Sadaf then and she agrees to take her to Sadaf’s home to see her. Waqar tells Sadaf that her mother has agreed for their marriage.
On the other hand, she is keep searching proposals for her beautiful daughter Zara but finds no good fit for her. She is annoyed with Zara’s only friend and keep telling Zara not to hang out or meet with her much as she is jealous of Zara’s beauty and family. Zara’s friend always tell Zara that her mother do not want Zara to get married since she don’t like any proposal. During son in law hunting, at one place Saleha likes the potential in laws of her daughter, she asks to see the NED degree of the potential husband at which they get annoyed and rejects Zara’s proposal. Long story short, Saleha doesn’t realize that she is ever at fault, her daughter is getting old and she keep telescoping every other proposal and rejects them over minor things.
When she goes to Sadaf ‘s place, she likes her brother Zaheer (Awais Waseer) for Zara and tells Sadaf’s mother that she has no objection over Sadaf and Waqar’s marriage unless Zaheer and Zara also gets married, at which Zaheer rejects the cross marriage proposal.
Sadaf gets married to her going to be Bhabi’s cousin who is mentally sick and beats her and after she get miscarriage, she takes divorce from him and comes back to her mother Shaista. Her brother and his wife are trying to sell their house and Sadaf tries to find one apartment for herself and her mother. Her mother insists her to get remarried but she always refuses given the worst marriage experience she has already experienced. Her brother is angry at her not getting married. He blames her that she got divorce because of Waqar.
On the other hand there is another family. Jamal (Imran Ashraf) and his family are originally poor and upon insistence of his mother Ghazala (Nargis Rasheed), he rents one banglow for 1 year in posh area for the purpose of getting good proposals of her sister Iqra and himself. They rent car to go everywhere and show as if they have 2 cars and tells everyone that they are rich now. Jamal is honest and do not like hypocrisy of her mother however, he obeys her like obedient son.
Many years pass, Zara gets 30 years old in all these years, Saleha is still on son in law hunting when she finds Jamal’s family. Jamal is shown as very young handsome Chartered Accountant about whom Saleha thinks perfect match for her daughter Zara. She tries all she could to get her daughter engage to Jamal and eventually they get engaged. She is worried of Zara’s age since she is older than Jamal. She lies to Zara’s in laws regarding her age and tells them 8 years less of her actual age. Jamal’s mother Ghazala is suspicious of Zara’s age but she is heavily impressed with Saleha’s rich background and finally agrees to this proposal. However, she tells Saleha that they will be doing wedding ceremony after 2 years since Jamal has to wed her sister Iqra. However, Saleha is at trouble because of her lie regarding Zara age as she don’t want to loose this proposal. She asks Waqar to talk with Jamal to agree his mother to get married along with her sister Iqra and do not worry about finances. Jamal convinces her family to do so to reduce expenses.
Saleha wants Zara’s wedding as soon as possible. She always think her husband’s relatives are jealous of her and they might tell Zara’s age to their inlaws. Her husband asks her not to lie to Zara’s inlaws as it can make problems for their daughter in future but she does not listen to him. During all this time, Ghazala keep asking Zara’s CNIC about which Saleha says that thief came and steal all important documents including Zara’s degree and CNIC. However, Ghazala and Iqra are still at doubt and suspicious about her real age. Iqra tries to convince Jamal what will he do if he gets to know that Zara lied regarding her real age at which Jamal denies and says he can not imagine Zara, the beautiful innocent girl, can lie big to her going to be husband.
On the other hand, Sadaf is searching for apartment. One agent takes her to see one apartment which she likes, however, when she finds out that the landlord of the apartment she is looking is Waqar as he comes in front of her, she immediately leaves the apartment. Waqar tries to contact Sadaf but she rejects her calls. And one day, out of frustration she attend his call and lashes out at him that he is the reason of her divorce. He is shocked to learn that she is divorced. Later, he accidentally meets Sadaf in a mall and request her to listen to him one but she tells him he is coward and criticize him if he asked her mother’s permission to talk with her and then leaves. Her ex-husband sees her standing with Waqar and clicks pictures of her and send it to her Bhabi who tells Zaheer that she still meets Waqar. Zaheer lashes out at her mother that why Sadaf meets Waqar and her mother scolds Sadaf at which she is shocked and tells her mother that it was just a mere coincidence.
Waqar tells Saleha that Sadaf is divorced and he wants to marry her at which Saleha scolds him and tells him that Sadaf can never make her home as she is independent and doing job. Sadaf’s ex-husband calls Waqar and blackmails him at which Jamal is surprised and asks him to come face to face.
Saleha ask for simple nikkah ceremony at which Ghazala perplexes as she was hoping for grand function to make her old relatives jealous but agrees to it. Saleha tells Ghazala that haq meher should be at minimum 20 tola gold at which Ghazala baffles, and later on demands for car to Jamal as a Salami hoping that Saleha will re-think about haq meher, however, Saleha thinks and agrees for the car but instead of buying it, she asks Waqar to put car’s money in Zara’s bank account.
At the time of Nikkah, Ghazala tells Molvi sb how nikkah can be done since Zara’s CNIC is lost, at which Molvi sb says Nikkah does not need CNIC copy, and the Nikkah is done.
Saleha is angry at the barr’i which was of very low quality and un-branded. She is embarrassed in front of her relatives. On the other hand, Ghazala is perplexed at the car money being put in to Zara’s bank account. She asks her son Jamal to control Zara on very first day at which Jamal says that she is now his wife and he does not think this way.
Ghazala’s relatives stares at Zara at wedding and keep gossiping regarding her age, and that she seems older than Jamal.
It seems that one lie that Saleha made regarding Zara’s age will ruin her life. Saleha keeps fighting with her husband that he lied to him regarding his degree but she does not realize that one lie can make her daughter’s life hell. Zara may also be subject to this torture which she gave all her life to her husband. He thinks she is above all but never realizes the deceiving things she did to her children. Bushra Ansari’s acting was flawless. She portrayed motherhood flawlessly, like how some mother’s are concerned about their children. She portrayed those mothers who like to control every single step of their children not realizing that it may ruin their life. The children obeys their mother because it is an order for them to obey their parents without running after their own wishes.
Sadaf’s acting was flawless, she is confident lady and hates hypocrite and coward men. All she wanted Waqar to show some courage and take stand for her regarding their marriage, which he did not.
Syed Ahmed Kamran, the director, who also directed Digest Writer and Muhabbad Aag Si, once again nailed it along with writer Reema Ali Syed and via Hum TV they are highlighting many shots in this drama. Firstly, mothers who love to control their children do not realize they are actually destroying their children’s life. In our society, there exists such mothers who only want their say is to be heard. Such mothers usually have low confident coward children, improperly groomed, unable to handle their life and make decisions alone. Secondly, this also shows lie is not the answer to our problems. Every relation has to based on truth either its sweet or bitter to make up life easier. Lastly, one has to be down to earth rather than stubborn to make up relationships and live happily. No one is perfect except Allah. One has to realize nothing in this world will last forever. Every rise has its fall.
Eventually , both parties have lied to each other … Lets see how things turn up in upcoming episodes..

I must say that after watching the teasers and promos of Jhok Sarkar, I was looking forward to this one more than any other upcoming drama. In fact after watching the latest promo, I was wondering if Jhok Sarkar will be the next Parizaad! Yes, Parizaad set the bar really high because it was one of those rare dramas which are both meaningful and intriguing. It also proved that the right casting can completely change the final outcome. Did this first episode live up to my expectations? Unfortunately not! I am actually disappointed after watching this first episode because it was so ‘basic’. However, I have faith in the Jhok Sarkar team and I am hoping that the drama will pick up in the upcoming episode.
I can’t help but compare this first episode with that of Neem because I watched that one only yesterday. I ended up watching Neem twice after watching it when it aired and every time I found myself appreciating the well-written dialogues and the overall feel of the drama even more. Neem’s first episode won me over instantly. Whereas, Jhok Sarkar’s first episode was not as impressive perhaps because I was expecting the Punjab culture to be reflected in the same way as the Kashmiri dialectic was integrated into Neem’s first episode. Having said that, a first episode never determines how a drama would turn out to be in the long run. Some of the dramas start off strong but end up disappointing and there are others such as Ehd-e-Wafa which take off late but impress overall.
Circumstances In Jhok Sial
This first episode of Jhok Sarkar opened by introducing the part of the story which was set in a rural area. As the story progresses, it seems that this part of the story will be the focus of attention. The opening scene showed Sassi (Hiba Bukhari) and Noori (Mamia) having a conversation which revealed details about Noori’s track more than Sassi’s. Sassi came across as a simple girl who would never take the kind of step Noori was taking. Noori on the other hand had more guts even though she knew she was getting herself in grave danger. Saving herself and breaking free was the main theme in this conversation more than eloping for love alone. This opening scene highlighted the environment of control and the class divides.
I must say that the make-up of both these actresses in this scene proved to be a major distraction. Hiba Bukhari had a full face of make-up and her performance unfortunately remains the same irrespective of the role she plays in a drama. I hope Sassi’s character will be written well because Hiba does not bring much to the table. I was hoping Saife Hassan’s direction might make a difference but clearly Hiba Bukhari has a certain style of acting which remains the same in every drama. Am I the only one who feels that her expressions were confusing in this scene? While she was trying really hard to look fearful, she also had a smirk on her face. The accents of both actresses did not have the Punjabi touch as well. They sounded very ‘shehri’ from their accents.
Meeral (Usman Javed) and the police officer’s scene was the next important scene in this episode which gave more information about the change in the system which might affect those who enjoy all the power and influence in Jhok Sial. This conversation highlighted who was running the show in Jhok Sial and how confident they were about continuing to do so. Meeral’s dialogues indicated he was a spoiled rich brat who knew he will never be held accountable for his actions. This was a well-acted out scene that reflected the complete reliance of the police force on these landlords.
The scenes from Peeral Saeein’s (Asif Raza Mir) haveli were quite surprisingly as thanday as some of the other scenes in this episode. I was really looking forward to watching Asif Raza Mir on-screen again but his character or its aura was not as impactful as I was hoping it would be. One thing common between Peeral and Meeral was their confidence. They knew they were going to continue to be in control irrespective of the circumstances. The scenes from the haveli also gave an insight into Peeral’s personal life. He has two wives, Zulekha (Faiza Gillani) is the younger one who was introduced as a controlling woman, and the other older one (Sakina Samo) looked more ‘polished’ but disturbed owing to her circumstances.
ASP Arsalan’s Track
In this episode, Arsalan’s (Farhan Saeed) track was shown completely separately because he just got the rank and is yet to be appointed in Jhok Sial. The scenes covering his track showed that Arsalan did not come from an affluent background. The success he had achieved was a huge deal for his family and they valued it greatly. He is the only son who is hardworking and self-made. His conversation with his fiancé/ love interest (Mahenur Haider) also showed that he believed in earning whatever he owned and was not interested in expensive gifts or luxuries. This track did not get a lot of screen time because the focus was primarily on the Noori/Shaukat track and everything that was happening in Jhok Sial. After watching all those powerful promos with those dhuwandar dialogues, the introduction to Arsalan’s character did not live up to the expectations.
Final Remarks
Surprisingly, this first episode was not impactful and even some of the most powerful actors such as Asif Raza Mir and Farhan Saeed lacked screen presence. I also felt that there was an excessive focus on Noori and Shaukat; screen time was not divided evenly among all the characters. Also, even though this episode covered a great deal, it was not engaging enough.

Violence against women in Pakistan is on the rise. A few days ago, another 18-year-old housemaid died due to abortion-related complications after allegedly being raped by members of the family she worked for. Two days ago, Dr. Mahnoor suffered severe facial burns in an acid attack at a hospital in Quetta. In Karachi, a man allegedly killed his wife after she refused his request.
These back-to-back incidents of rape, murder, and acid attacks have sparked outrage among both Pakistani celebrities and the public, who are demanding strict punishment for sexual offenders and perpetrators of violence against women. Sabeena Farooq, Fazila Qazi, Momina Iqbal, Sidra Niazi, Hadiqa Kiani, and Madiha Rizvi have spoken out against these heinous crimes, while Bushra Ansari and Mishi Khan have shared videos expressing their disappointment with Pakistani society and the legal system. Here is what the celebrities are saying:

The Pakistani public is also expressing anger over the increasing rape incidents in the country, where culprits are reportedly not being punished. Many say it is becoming a norm in Pakistan, where either sexually disturbed men are harming women or ego-driven individuals, unable to handle rejection, are attacking women. Many are demanding strict punishment for such offenders, including public executions. Others say there is a complete breakdown of law and order and that the justice system has failed.

We’ll see her in the upcoming film of Syed Noor’s Chein Aey Na. She will be playing the role of “the mother of the hero, Adil Murad”.
Images contacted Nazeen Tariq and she revealed details about her role:
“We’ve known each other [Syed Noor] for years but I met him after a long time at Avari at a function for his movie Chein Aey Na. When he met me, he just said parso aa jayie ga, bas aap ko le liya (Show up day after tomorrow, you’re in!). I couldn’t believe it, just like that! And so the journey began.
When asked whether her first time with acting was easy, she said:
“I honestly faced no hurdles as such. Noor sahab is an institution in himself. He knows how to bring out the actor from within the person. I’ve dabbled in acting long before but a major silver screen project is another game. When I went on set I’d make sure to follow Noor sahab’s directions and when I did so, he was very happy.
“The most difficult part for me was to act without saying a word but Noor sahab made it very easy for me by making me very comfortable. He was very encouraging and made me feel like I can do it. And so I did it. And the positive feedback from him and his team gave me the strength to go on.”
While talking about her experience on set, she said:
“The whole atmosphere on set was wonderful and the team felt like my extended family. I never once felt that I am doing my debut film. Everyone was so friendly and nice towards me.”
“I wore my own jewelry in the film,” she adds.

Talking about the release, she shares, “I think it will release on Eid-Ul-Azha. I don’t mind how long it takes as long as it’s done right. I wish Noor sahab the best; I’ve seen how hard he is working on it. We see a movie and we just like criticising it, without acknowledging all the hard work that goes behind making it. So I wish Chein Aey Na the best, whenever it comes out.”

Drone attacks have been quite an issue in Pakistan for some time now. Recently, Jemina Khan (Imran Khan’s ex-wife) addressed this issue and released a documentary titled, “Unmanned: America’s Drone Wars”which premiered on 26th October in Islamabad ahead of its worldwide premiere on October 30. It later made its world premiere on October 30 at the Sunshine Landmark Theater in Manhattan, New York.
It is a highly moving documentary directed by US filmmaker Robert Greenwald and released in collaboration with Brave New Foundation. It highlights the plight of innocent drone victims and exposes the blatant lies of the US administration about the precision and efficacy of drone attacks.
This documentary highlights the brutal impact the drone attacks have on the lives of millions of people in the tribal areas of Pakistan. More than 70 people were interviewed for this documentary, the drone attack affected families, investigative journalists, top military officials and in the end, Imran Khan himself.
The director has taken detailed interviews in addition to footage that has never been seen before from the tribal areas in Pakistan to show what the people had gone through by US drone policy. This footage, alongside interviews with Pakistani drone survivors, describes the brutal reality of drone attacks ordered by the USA. Some of the stories include that of 16 year old Tariq Aziz, killed by a drone a mere week after he participated in a public conference in Islamabad in 2011; a school teacher, Rafiqur Rehman, who had to deal with the loss of his mother, along with the hospitalization of his children due to a drone strike last year. Unmanned shows how lives of people are no longer of significant importance since no one is ready to accept the responsibility for these attacks. Unmanned also uncovered how the military actions are often imprecise and US have little knowledge of how drone targets are set and the killings carried out.
Greenwald [the director] has stated, “This film was to show the world the human face on a policy that correlates groups of young men as terrorists and children and elderly as collateral damage. I wanted the world to see that this policy is misguided and should be reevaluated. The deaths of these civilians must not be in vain.”
The Chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan and other top leaders of his party attended the first screening of the film along with journalists, diplomats, activists and members of civil society. Imran’s whose former wife Jemima Khan is a co-producer of the film, hoped that film will change public opinion in the West about the lethal drone strikes and their impact.
Jemima Khan also released a statement from London. She stated:
“Unmanned is a detailed look at the US and UK-backed drone attacks in Pakistan, with remarkable footage of the effects of these attacks on the ground. I believe these attacks are unethical in themselves, and — even more crucially — make every one of us less safe, because of the recruitment opportunities they afford the extremists each time an innocent civilian is killed.”
Imran Khan has showed immense support for Jemina’s work and even tweeted his admiration for the documentary.
This documentary is a must watch for every citizen to enlighten themselves about the drone attacks. The drone attacks and its casualties have been suppressed for quite some time now, and this documentary gives a clear-cut picture of the drone affected areas.
