Nadia Khan has made a comeback in acting with a bang. She is giving back to back projects. With more of her projects leaning towards social issues, we have Aisi Hai Tanhai, Zan Mureed and Kaisi Aurat Hoon Main uptill now. Now we will be seeing her in a play along side actor Junaid Khan.

Supreme Court on Saturday revoked a ban on the airing of Indian content on local television channels, setting aside an earlier ruling by the Lahore High Court. Chief Justice Saqib Nisar announced the ruling in a case filed by the United Producers Association pertaining to the broadcast of foreign content on local television channels in the Supreme Court Karachi registry.

Chief Justice said that India is trying to obstruct Pakistan’s dam construction. Therefore, we are banning their content. Previously, PEMRA banned it in 2016 but the ban was removed by LHC. India, on the other hand, has banned Pakistani content & artists completely as a reaction to Uri Attacks.

We may agree that ban on airing Indian serials is justified as we see no gain of it whatsoever. There already is enough of Pakistani content on television which is appreciated by the local audience. It is a fact that our cinema can depend on their films as they have a huge following and can benefit our distributors & cinema owners.

This moved was made after United Producers’ Association filed a petition. Ban on Indian movies was also said to be proposed but no new updates have come in regards to that.

Getting new content every day five times a week is not an easy job and sometimes same faces are seen on every other morning show doing the same thing. Rani is the story of a transgender and how she takes care of an abandoned baby.

Rani has been a hit with the critics and has screened at various film festivals since its completion. The short film was screened at the NBC Universal Short Film Festival recently and has added another feather in its ever-growing cap. The film has won an award for the best director. Rani was directed by Hammad Rizvi and he has won the award at the film festival.

Rani has been shot in Karachi and is going strong since its release. Kami who works for the rights of transgenders has tried to highlight their struggles through this film too. She is an actress, model and activist and is trying to do better for the community which is often ill-treated or ignored.

Pakistani Cinema is finally done with the so-called revival. And it is on the roll. Jawani Phir Nahin Ani, Load Wedding & Parwaaz Hai Junoon made big bucks at the box office and gave filmmakers confidence to keep making films.

One of the first few successful films that actually made the revival successful was Wrong Number. It was Yasir Nawaz’s foray into cinema after making many serials on TV.

The film starred Danish Taimoor & Sohai Ali Abro and did very well at the Box Office. It was a story of a kidnapping gone wrong which proved to be a riot. People loved it & so did we.

Yasir Nawaz returned with Mehrunisa We Luv You which also did fairly well at the box office being an Eid Release. We don’t have enough films to remake but we do keep coming with sequels time & again. Jawani Phir Nahin Ani & Na Maloom Afraad franchise are the examples.

Sequels prove to be a sure shot way of box office success. Keeping that in mind, Yasir Nawaz has announced Wrong No 2 which stars Sami Khan & Neelam Munir in the lead roles. The film will be distributed by A Distribution Club.

Neelam’s last venture Chupan Chupaai was appreciated while Sami Khan’s comeback to the films was keenly awaited. We wish the team best of luck.

Good looking talented people reading news to us on TV is not new. With the boom in the news industry, many new faces keep making entries as newsanchors. Some of them become a huge part of our life & even bigger stars. Geo TV, mostly, has made most of their anchors huge stars. One such young news star is Abdullah Sultan. Abdullah was very ambitious as a Mass Com student & aimed at landing a job at Geo News. Well, some dreams do come true.

Abdullah’s journey from Lahore to Karachi was his journey from an ordinary person to superstardom in News. After joining geo, he left no stone unturned to be noticed in the pool of many popular faces. From being a news a anchor to the morning show host on Geo news his journey  has been amazing.

West is producing great television. We may not be doing as well but if we compare our TV to our neighbouring country, we are doing quite good in terms of execution. Our portrayal of issues is more realistic which is good but there has been coming many regressive & repetetive shows lately. But that’s not the case with all the dramas. Some really great stories have made it to TV recently.

So, we were talking of diversity. Are we getting the white part of our flag enough stories to be represented well? Well, I don’t think of any such story in past, but recently Mariam Periera made headlines. It tells a story of a christian girl. The show is simulcast on TV One & PTV Home. It was a sigh of relief to see that a different story was given a place during primetime.

Recently, another drama which also happens to tell a tale of a christian girl was in News. 7th Sky’s new production Mariam Binte Abdullah tells a story of a christian girl who’s father happens to be Muslim. It stars Kinza Hashmi in the lead & now another name has come across to be part of the show which is veteran actor Firdous Jamal’s son Hamza Firdous. We are more than excited to see such an interesting story which fresh pairing. Mariam Binte Abdullah will soon be launched on Geo TV.

It takes a really special on screen jodi to win people over completely In every way possible. Farhan Saeed and Iqra Aziz did just that when they were seen together in drama serial Suno Chanda.

Farhan Saeed and Iqra Aziz both have worked with many other actors in the past too but the magic these two created on screen has been unmatched. Momina Mustehsan conquered the music industry with her debut song immediately. She sang the Afreen Afreen with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and became an overnight sensation with people deeming her the National crush because of her beauty.
