Ohkay so, this episode of Khud Parast was very interesting. I liked how the story was taken forward with a lot of focus on the characters. Even though a lot is obvious but the writer has skilfully built the curiosity where I want to know more about certain characters. Khud Parast has definitely had a very strong start & I hope it continues to be progress that way.
Further In-sight Into The Characters:
Uswa is spending more time with Adeel. Even though she denies it but it is a fact that she likes the attention that he gives & she enjoys his company. Uswa is strong & clear-headed girl that is why she told Adeel that she was building a friendship with him for now without thinking about what turn it will take in the future. For now Uswa was just having a good time with Adeel & that is where is stops for her. Adeel on the other hand is doing everything, walking an extra mile making sure that he impresses Uswa. As far as Uswa is concerned, her thought process is clear but when it comes to Adeel, things are blurry because we know the type of guy he is, considering the introduction that he got so it won’t be wrong to judge him on that basis, due to which I feel that because Adeel has seen how different & unconventional Uswa is, he has taken her as a challenge. There is a possibility that Adeel might become serious about her but for now, it doesn’t seem to be the case.
Uswa’s mother is pretty clear about the kind of guy she wants Uswa to get married to. Uswa’s mother sees Bakhtawar’s family & Hanan’s proposal as a perfect match for Uswa because like she time & again said, their wealth will outbid every flaw that the guy might have. Uswa’s mother is not even keen to meet Hanan because for her, the fact that he is wealthy is just more than enough.
Uswa showed her vulnerable side to Adeel because she was emotionally weak at the thought of Maria’s marriage. It finally struck her that Maria was leaving & Uswa couldn’t stop questioning the entire system where a girl has to leave everything behind. Adeel obviously is not someone who matches Uswa’s mental wavelength, he is just being her friend for the sake of it but it is too obvious that he is not the kind of friend who will respect Uswa’s emotions or feelings.
Hanan’s mother Bakhtawar paid a visit to Uswa’s house only to put forth Hanan’s proposal but she couldn’t proceed as Khatoon Bibi saw Uswa with Adeel on a bike. Uswa’s sisters in law along with her mother did devise a plan to buy Khatoon Bibi’s loyalty & even though that is exactly what happened which made Bakhtawar change her mind but then even Maria was not too happy with the way Bakhtawar’s family was being lied to regarding Uswa. Uswa is not the kind of girl that will fit in Bakhtawar’s family, Maria can clearly see that but their mother is not too keen on what the girls say or feel because for her, Hanan’s financial status is the most attractive & important aspect.
The character that has really made me curious to find out more about her is of Hanan’s sister in law. Like she said, even her parents married her off because they themselves do not have a sound financial background & I guess that is why she puts up with everything because she knows she can not go back. It is too obvious that she is not happy but is only putting an effort to make her marriage work. She really has changed her personality & has accepted everything so that she does not give her mother in law Bakhtawar & her husband Moeez any reason to complain. Moeez is dethatched from his wife, he is cold & distant plus if he ever communicates with her, that is only to remind her that what she is doing is not enough or what she is saying has no meaning. No wonder why Moeez is having an extra marital affair because I feel it is Bakhtawar who hasn’t allowed her son to have a normal relationship with his wife, it could be seen in the scene where she silently commends her son when he scolds & belittles his wife. Khatoon Bibi did draw the right sketch in front of Uswa’s sisters in law, that even though from afar that household might look too grand & perfect, but in reality it is completely the opposite.
Another aspect that was revealed about Hanan was his temperament & the fact that he can not tolerate a lie nor liars. Hanan is definitely someone who is too emotional & has no self-control when it comes to anger. Hanan believes in keeping things fair & square so I am interested to see how he will react when later he will find out that he & his family was lied to in regards to Uswa & her personality. I am sure this lie will play a huge part in how Uswa’s marital life will shape up in the future. However, I will say that considering the kind of rigid person Bakhtawar is who has a very clear picture of the kind of girl she wants for Hanan, it seems unconvincing that after what Khatoon Bibi said & back-tracked, Bakhtawar didn’t get a background check done on Uswa? It definitely was not a big deal for her to make that happen. Also, I liked how Hanan’s sister in law picked up something fishy about Uswa when she heard her Bhabhi but chose not to react much.
Closing Thoughts – Decent Execution:
Overall, thie episode of Khud Parast was definitely interesting. Even though the scenarios or the characters are not too new but the execution has made things work in totality. I really hope they do not show too much of domestic violence though because I do remember seeing a few promos before Khud Parast went on-air & that was not a good sight. The acting & the direction has been great so far & all the actors have fitted well into their characters. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khud Parast.
Baba Jani Episode 6 Story Review – Tonight’s episode of Baba Jani had more than its fair share of nand bhabhi issues. Although the bhabhi has been shown as the wise one in this relationship but even then there was nothing even remotely likable about the family politics. Asfand’s relationship with Sadia and Nimra was the highlight of this episode but Naila and Najiba completely overshadowed them because of the screen time they got.
Where Is Nasir?
Asfand and his relationship with the people who actually value him has been the best part of this drama but this episode focused more on how Najiba and Naila intervened in Asfand’s life more than anything else. Nasir was a positive person in Asfand’s life who balanced out the sisters’ negativity and who was introduced as an important character but he was completely missing from this episode and had nominal role to play in the last episode. His wife was there for Asfand but her husband wasn’t – something which did not make a lot of sense. Asfand’s scenes with Nasir always showed a different side of his personality since he was with someone he did not have to look out for but it was always the reverse. He was shown as someone who did not want anything in return for his friendship and concern therefore it was really important that he should have been part of every episode. Also, there should have been at least one more scene in which Asfand tried to get in touch with his khala again. Although Mehwish told him off the last time he went to see his khala but even then someone like Asfand would surely try harder to look after her since he partially blamed himself for what happened to her.
Asfand and Umair’s Meeting
The dubbing was terribly off in the scene covering Asfand’s meeting with Umair, this scene was more like a scene from the dubbed Turkish plays and definitely not the best part of this episode. Najiba’s character so far has nothing new to offer. She wants her brother all to herself and is not the one to sit back and watch someone else enjoy Asfand’s wealth or his attention. While Najiba does not keep her feelings to herself, Naila does not reveal how she feels about Sadia in front of her brother. Their “tactics” are different but the characters and their motives are pretty much the same. Najeeba said to Asfand tonight that he was not old enough to play the “role” he wanted to play in Nimra’s life – something which is probably going to be the main objection in the upcoming episodes as well.
Change in Nimra’s behavior
The change in Nimra’s behavior has been covered convincingly. She is taking her time warming up to her step-father and with this episode she opened up a little. Madiha Imam has done a brilliant job of translating Nimra’s hesitation, her distant behavior and her anger flawlessly on-screen.
Overall Impression
Asfand’s character is undoubtedly the most refreshing part of this drama. Asfand’s scenes with Sadia and Nimra are always touching but in this episode Najiba and Naila’s characters stood out more than anything else. There were some scenes tonight in which Sadia and Asfand both said exactly what the viewers wanted them to say. When Sadia said to Asfand that she was still having a difficult time believing that all of this was actually happening and Asfand shared why he felt exact the same way was one such scene. The scene in which Asfand said to Sadia that he knew that Najeeba must have said something to her was also such a scene which once again showed that he knew what his sister was capable of doing but he chose to forgive her every single time. Faysal Qureshi is extremely likable as Asfand and I am looking forward to the time when the story will focus more on his relationship with his step-daughter.
This wasn’t the best episode of Baba Jani but this drama overall has been different and convincing so far therefore I am pretty hopeful that it will only get better in the upcoming weeks.
Zara Noor Abbas has been part of some interesting projects in the recent past and she is also part of an upcoming Pakistani film. She especially came into the limelight when she married co-star Asad Siddiqui since everyone had seen her wedding photos from her first marriage. Asad Siddiqui too had been married before therefore this marriage came as a total shock to many. Zara Noor Abbas is actress Asma Abbas’ daughter because of which she was in a way always in the limelight even before she stepped into the world of showbiz.
For the first time Zara Noor Abbas talked about her life in general and her first marriage in particular. She also shared that she always wanted to work in the entertainment industry but her parents did not support her and as a result she resorted to means which were not exactly the best. Ali Rehman Khan was in both the films produced by Hareem Farooq, the TV and Film actress and model who now is a film producer as well. They are often seen together on several events like fashion shows, talk shows and get togethers. There has been a rumor about them being in a relationship in the town.
Hareem and Ali when visited Hassan Sheheryar’s show, were asked by the host about why they are always hanging out together and why they are invited to the shows together. He narrated that in a get together few days back both of them came together. HSY said that he had invited them both because he saw chemistry between them but what is the reason of them being always together. To this Hareem said that it basically is Islamabad connection because they both belong from there. Hareem said that coincidentally she and Ali are in Karachi on the same time that’s the reason of their hanging out together.
Ali while adding to the answer said that they have a larger group of friends at Islamabad and Osman Khalid Butt is one of them but he is so busy and his schedule doesn’t match with these two.
Ali Rehman Khan starred in an Independent Film named Slackistan back in 2010 but the movie got banned in Pakistan because the director had refused to make the cuts in the film that were requested by the Central Board of Film Sensors.
Recently Ali Rehman was asked about Slackistan by Hassan Sheheryar Yasin in his show Tonight with HSY. Hassan asked Ali why the film never got released in Pakistan because there have been other films which were banned at first but then got unbanned namely Verna etc. To this Ali replied, that it was his first movie so when it got banned he was heartbroken. He said it was a very small budget film but the ban in Pakistan turned out to be favorable for them because it led their film to international platforms.
He further added that if the would have been released in Pakistan then it wouldn’t have gotten international exposure. When a movie which is made in Pakistan and gets banned the international radars get active.
Slackistan never saw light of the day in Pakistan but it was released on multiple occasions and festivals in countries like London, Abu Dhabi, New York City, San Francisco and Goa.
Good Morning Pakistan hosted by Nida Yasir is famous for celebrating people’s engagement, marriages, kids and birthdays. The show mostly manages to invite the celebrity couples who get engaged and then when they get married and when they have a kid and when their kid turns one. Nida is quite a good host in the sense that she gives proper attention to the guests and tries to know everything about them instead of narrating her own stories like some hosts.
Nida Yasir invited Ayesha Omer in spirit of her birthday and had a wonderful celebration which she is famous for on her sets. Haissam Hussain is one of the most talented directors of the Pakistani entertainment industry. He has given countless hits including Dastaan, Dur e Shehwar and Aik Nayi Cinderella. With the advent of web series and them becoming a hit formula, Pakistanis are also venturing into the idea. Haissam Hussain will be directing two web shows for an international platform.
One of the projects is written by the talented writer Rida Bilal who has also penned down dramas like Be Inteha and Khudgarz. The cast of both the web shows is still under the warps and has not been revealed yet. One of the stories is a period love story and we know, no one makes them better than Haissam looking at his work in Dastaan. The other will be a mystery and not much about it is out yet.

Sanam Baloch is a sensitive person who is very often seen getting emotional in her shows. This time however she shared a tragic incident from her own life and got emotional and started crying while sharing it. When Samina Peerzada asked Sanam Baloch is she was afraid to die, she said that there was a time when she was so scared of dying that she did not even go to funeral.
She said that she could not even go to a graveyard until her dear cousin who was only 22 years old was murdered. She shared a tragic incident in which she told that her cousin who she was really close to was killed in cold blood by robbers who entered his house. She shared that he had just completed his training for army and was extremely excited. Sanam said that this tragic incident opened her eyes. When she saw her own loved one’s dead body in front of her all her fears were gone.
Sanam Baloch started crying while sharing this tragic incident and she also said that she was no longer scared of dying. She in fact wanted to meet all those loved ones she had lost in the after life.
Sanam Baloch’s divorce came as a shock for all the fans because this couple was seen happily on television in a talk show just few weeks before they parted their ways. Although Sanam Baloch never really confirmed her divorce rumors but her husband confirmed that they had gone their separate ways.

This time when she was invited by Fiza Ali on her show on GNN, she said that the latest trend of confining women’s topics to a few domains is a complete disaster. She also said that those people who say that these foolish topics get them ratings are also wrong. Nadia Khan said that nowadays the hosts ask such silly questions and when someone’s mother dies they invite that celebrity to the show which is even more foolish. Nadia Khan said that the hosts are no longer interested in finding out more about celebrities. She said that morning show hosts get ratings from making celebrities cry which is really annoying.
Nadia Khan shared that when she was hosting morning shows she used to ensure that there was some educational aspect to the show but nowadays morning shows are useless because they do not want to educate. Fiza Ali also criticized the way morning show hosts conduct these shows.
Sanam Baloch narrated the interesting details of how she started her acting career while she was talking to Samina Peerzada on her talk show. Sanam said that she never wanted to be an actress but her first wish was to be a pilot. When she was a little older she figured out she could not be a pilot because she has asthma. That’s when Sanam Baloch was actually clueless as to what she wanted to do.
Sanam Baloch’s older sister, Sabreen Hisbani, on the other hand was always interested in performing. Sanam used to go with her sister to her recordings and that is how someone suggested that she should also start working on television. Sanam shared that she was always a shy kid but when she started her career as a Sindhi host on a show which aired on KTN, her direction completely changed.
Sanam shared that she called Fahad Mustafa to come to her show as a guest and that is when he suggested that Sanam too should start acting in Urdu dramas. Sanam instantly told him that she could hardly speak any Urdu therefore doing an Urdu drama was out of question. Finally when she decided to start her acting career with the telefilm Kalak, she went to all lengths to give her character her best. She said that she appeared as a girl whose head gets shaved which was a huge thing for someone who had just started her acting career.
Sanam also shared that her performance in this telefilm was instantly noticed by everyone in the industry. She said that it was few of those projects which get recognition and appreciation overnight.
