Salman Khan’s Tubelight Might Get Late Release For Fans In Pakistan

The release of Salman Khan’s Tubelight in Pakistan has been a matter great debate. However, according to reports, Tubelight’s director Kabir Khan has hinted that the flick may be released in Pakistan at a later date.

In a press conference in Dubai, director Kabir Khan said, “I don’t think one should react or respond to hearsay, we have not been told by any Pakistani producers or anyone from Pakistan about our film. Yes, I have heard there have been murmurs about our film essentially so that may be some producers feel they have a better chance at the box office without a film over there. But if they feel some of their films have to be nurtured more, we can come there later as well. At the end we feel that our film should be enjoyed and consumed by people in Pakistan because they are great fans of Salman Khan. More than the box office, we have got a lot of love from them for Bajrangi Bhaijaan. We hope to do the same with Tubelight this time.”

In order to protect the business of local films in Pakistan, directors and producers are rumored to have been trying to stall the release of Tubelight. Therefore, the film might release after Eid! Salman Khan’s “Tubelight” is also Bollywood’s first film ever to have its personal character emoji.

Yakeen Ka Safar Episode 05 Review – Good Developments!

Ohkay so, that was a bit slow but interesting episode of Yakeen Ka Safar. They obviously had to take this much of time to bring in some new developments in Zubiya’s track especially. What I actually appreciated more was how Noori got coverage & how she & Daniyal got to have a conversation with each other. The direction of the drama is spot-on & everything is being revealed in an appropriate manner.

So, Khalil insulted Sheema’s parents because according to him, any girl who gets married to a guy she loves & any such parents who are supportive of their daughter’s decisions are ‘beghairat’. In just a couple of seconds, Khalil showed them who he was where he not only insulted them but also made sure to let them know that he was noticing what was served in front of them. It is amusing how he being such a wealthy businessman acts like a small-hearted miser. Well, even though it can be classified as a cliché especially when that development came after showing us Khalil’s opinion on this matter, but still the treatment that they have given to Zubiya & Rameez’s track seems realistic

So, Zubiya finally gave a chance to Rameez, she obviously had no reason not to because she is living quite a lonely life & with her mother not being around her, she needed someone to confide in & for that Rameez seems like a perfect option. Even though all of this is basically karma’s spin on Khalil’s words where he dissed the idea of love affair & marriage & even though I have a feeling that it won’t bring any happiness to Zubiya, but seeing her at a happy place was nice for a change. It obviously can seem a little unrealistic that a girl who comes from such a conservative family with so many restrictions easily ended up giving in to the temptation of being associated with someone but considering her state of mind, everything falls in its place as Zubiya discussed, she has no one to talk to & then there’s this guy who can’t stop thinking about ways to speak to her, so she easily accepted this change as she was finding comfort in him. Zubiya’s association with Rameez also brought a few little changes in her attitude where at first they showed how she was scared but later she eased a bit & effortlessly lied to Sheema to save herself & in the end, she was having night-long conversations with him. Rameez seems nice but I am sure that’s all there’s to his character where he will only be bringing troubles into Zubiya’s life. Surprisingly Asfand & Rameez know each other so this was another detail that the director took care of & decided to get out of the way because in the future Asfand & Zubiya will be coming across each other.

Ohkay, my confusion was cleared in this episode. Noori being Sidhi was spotted by Romana in her village & then Romana brought her to Karachi with her. Romana then contacted Daniyal who was in Islamabad & he discussed how he will be travelling to Karachi to see Noori, so the issues that I had with the locations & their setting were dealt with in this episode. I loved the introduction that Romana gave to Daniyal about Noori, how she was considerate enough to let Daniyal know about her mental condition. Noori obviously has been through a lot so it was good to see at least two people feeling her pain & wanting to do everything to bring justice to her. Daniyal’s assurance to Noori was much needed & it was good that as soon as he heard about the details, Daniyal didn’t even hesitate & decided to get on board with this case. I think this is quite an admirable trait of Daniyal that despite knowing Rab Nawaz Shah, his political background & his power, he didn’t think twice before taking Noori’s case. Being comparatively new in this field, Daniyal surely is quite brave.

Noori’s conversation with Daniyal about how she educated herself & how supportive her father was of her was quite heart-warming. It was good to know that Lateef used to support Noori & was proud of his daughter but then again Noori also shed a light on the fact that he took others’ opinions into consideration as well & being a father of an ambitious girl, he would always second guess himself. Noori’s concerns about her siblings were portrayed beautifully too. Even though Noori has gone through so much & even though she knows she has been alienated by her parents, she still was thinking about them & her siblings, it shows how mature & considerate she was as a person.

Overall, this episode was a little detailed that is why it seemed a bit slow but I am glad a lot of progress was made in both Noori & Zubiya’s tracks. I really wish Suhaee hadn’t relied so much on makeup because it got a bit too hard to feel for her when she showed up right after Romana told that she tried to attempt suicide twice, like those who go through a mental & physical trauma don’t really look so well put-together. I feel that was Suhaee’s responsibility as an actor to give Noori’s character a realistic treatment, having said that, her strong performance did compensate a great deal but it would’ve taken it to another level if she had looked a bit more natural like Sajjal does as Zubiya, even though her situation isn’t as dire as Noori’s. Both Sajjal & Suhaee have done a great job in terms of acting. I will say I was surprisingly impressed with Shaz Khan’s acting because I was a bit concerned that when his character will come to a point where he will have to deliver a lot of Urdu dialogues, he will falter but he didn’t & it definitely was good to see. As much as I enjoy Hira Mani’s acting, I so wish there was more to her character than a wife clad in night gowns, waking up from one bout of sleep only to prepare herself for another. May be if they had shown her as Daniyal’s assistant it would’ve been better because seeing her as a supportive but aimless wife actually makes me feel it isn’t doing any justice to her talent as an actor. Anyways, I am looking forward to the next episode already because looks like Sheema will stumble upon Zubiya’s mobile phone & Daniyal will take his case forward. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yakeen Ka Safar.

“Qandeel Baloch was a troubled individual,” Shares Ali Kazmi Who Plays A Pivotal Role In Qandeel Baloch Biopic

Film and TV actor Ali Kazmi, who appeared in Mehreen Jabbar’s Dobara Phir Se last year, has a lot going on. The actor who is currently playing a pivotal role in ongoing drama serial Moray Saiyaan, is all set to appear in Qandeel Baloch’s biopic called ‘Baaghi’. He’s currently busy shooting for the biopic that features Saba Qamar as Qandeel Baloch (who will soon be making her Bollywood debut with Hindi Medium alongside Irrfan Khan) opposite him. Speaking to Instep Ali Kazmi shared his thoughts about honour killing and the biopic.

“We have no right to be a judge, jury or executioner for anyone,” Kazmi told Instep. “Qandeel Baloch was a troubled individual who made some very questionable choices and videos but she did not deserve to die like the many other women that have been killed under the guise of ‘honor killing’. It is a dishonorable choice of an archaic custom and in no way it is part of our religious beliefs or our culture/traditions. In the cyber world we live in today, it’s quite easy and we are all quick to judge people by their photos or their videos and create a profile in our heads. But the truth is we truly don’t know their story or what they have been through to get where they are at that point in life.”

“I am proud to be a part of Baaghi,” Kazmi shared. “It addresses issues like literacy, women’s rights, honor killing, multiple marriages and abuse. Like our lives have many different aspects that define it, Baaghi will take you up, down and round like a roller coaster. The play isn’t one dimensional. I hope it turns out to be a meaningful piece with the right amount of drama and a message that people will be able to hold onto in their hearts and minds,” he concluded.

Alif Allah Aur Insaan Episode 04 – Engaging So Far!

Ohkay so, it was such an engaging episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan. I love the fact that the director has given equal coverage to all the characters. Apart from one of the tracks, rest of them are so interesting that you can not keep a track of time while watching their stories unfold. What I love about Alif Allah Aur Insaan‘s theme is that even though it is based on quite a lot of dire situations & showcases difficulties that people go through but the way they all have desires & hopes, it gives this drama a very positive feel.

So, we got to know about the very first interaction that Nigaar had with Shahzeb. It was a case of love at first sight & this might’ve been possible because out of all the men sitting as spectators, Shahzeb was the only one who didn’t see or treat Nigaar as a commodity. Nigaar is used to the idea of turning the heads around & she is so used to the attention, that when she didn’t get it from someone, she deemed it as a challenge to make it happen while still having this massive amount of respect for the one who didn’t look at her the way others did. I think it showed a very vulnerable side of Nigaar where she opened up to Shahzeb thinking he will understand her feelings because for the first time in her life, she experienced an emotion of love. Obviously, Shahzeb had to draw a line & glad that he did because it also showed Nigaar that not everyone believes in her way of expression of love. Shahzeb hurt Nigaar & the time will tell how the same emotion of love will become a reason for Shahzeb’s heart break too. Nigaar finally put a closure to this chapter & decided to move on but the love of Shahzeb still lingers in her heart but she definitely has promised to not hurt herself more & more by thinking about him.

Nazneen finally got an admission into the university & she is all set to pursue her dreams. It wouldn’t have been possible without Shahzeb’s support but since she got what she wanted, that’s all that matters to her. Nazneen obviously didn’t jump up with joy at the news of her sudden engagement with Shahzeb because she is clearly not into him. Till this point, Nazneen & Shahzeb’s track is the only one that I don’t really enjoy watching but now that she will step outside her village & will be around Basit, I will definitely be looking forward to their story as I am sure it will be a bit more interesting than the current situation that is happening. Still not too sure about Shahzeb’s character too like he is the only one who seems to be lacking a personality because apart from him being in love with Nazneen, we don’t really know much about him. Basit on the other hand didn’t get as much coverage but his character still seems appealing. I also like how despite being a son of a loyal servant, Basit doesn’t hold back in sharing what’s on his mind in front of Nazneen’s parents & I like how confident he generally is.

So, Raani finally got to meet Nigaar, her ideal. It was quite interesting how at that very moment, Nigaar, the courtesan spoke about living her life as a beggar while they showed how a beggar herself came to the brothel only to experience what life was like in there. Raani knows that the money that she will earn will keep her parents satisfied but she also knows that her parents will never approve of her choices, that is why she kept it as a secret but only handed over the money to her mother to give her a little idea of how much money she’ll be bringing home. I think it was quite sweet of Raani where she took her time & went back to her home after meeting Nigaar for the first time, like she didn’t want to make a hasty decision & needed some time to think things through because she was still a little concerned about her parents & their opinions. Raani still doesn’t actually know who Nigaar is & what does she do but its just that she is so fascinated by what she has heard or seen till date that she can’t get it out of her head.

After Raani’s track & character, I love Shammo’s story too. I feel this sort of warmth every time I see someone treating Shammo with utmost respect & affection. Shammo surely met a good human being who didn’t judge him for who he was but treated him as an equal & respected him based on his talent. Shammo showed that he has a knack for hair-styling & he believes in hard work, that is why his master recommended him to one of his students who now owns a big salon in the city. This will definitely open up more opportunities for Shammo & he will get to learn so much more. Even though Shammo has received so much of appreciation, his life so far has been so tough that he still hasn’t gained a lot of confidence, that is why the moment he senses that he will have to step out of his comfort zone, he gets scared & uncomfortable. I think this aspect also makes Shammo’s character & journey quite realistic & relate-able where they have shown how hard he is struggling to make a name for himself & is trying to earn a living with respect while still struggling emotionally. I find it quite endearing how Shammo acts almost like a child who gets uncomfortable at the thought of exploring new boundaries. The preview of Shammo’s interaction with his new boss has already gotten me excited plus the fact that Hassan Noman will be playing that character is definitely a treat in itself.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode. I must give credit to Sana Fakhar for playing the role of a courtesan & portraying Nigaar’s character with as much decency as possible, like not even for once I felt uncomfortable watching her on screen & she didn’t overdo anything. In fact in the scene where she interacted with Raani, I loved how respectful she was, like Nigaar has a lot of class & Sana Fakhar has elaborated that flawlessly. I am glad that Raani’s hair in this episode did looked washed & a little silky, even though they were untamed but still. Ushna Shah really has shown what she is capable of by portraying Raani’s character to perfection like no one could’ve imagined that Ushna Shah could do something like this, it sure is going to be remembered as one of her best performances. Imran Ashraf as Shammo has done a brilliant job, like I love how his personality has changed but his mannerisms are still the same & even he hasn’t overdone anything. I think what makes all these characters seem so real is the fact that the actors put a lot of hard work in perfecting the characters that were assigned to them, plus the director put in a lot of effort as well to make everything seem as realistic & as closer to reality as possible. Mikaal Zulfikar so far hasn’t really impressed much with his performance as Shahzeb but I think he couldn’t do much as there’s nothing more or shall I say interesting to Shahzeb’s character or personality. Definitely looking forward to the next episode. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Alif Allah Aur Insaan.

Makers Of Maula Jatt To Work On A New Film After 29 Years!

The producer of the blockbuster film Maula Jatt, Muhammad Sarwar Bhatti is all set to return to the entertainment industry. Bhatti will be re-launching his production company called Bahoo Films Corporation, with upcoming film LPD, releasing a film every year.

“I always aim at creating timeless films so I have to spend a lot of time on the film’s story and its visual treatment,” Bhatti told The Express Tribune.

“It’s a fact that no one else – not in Pakistan or India – has been able to produce a film like Maula Jutt. In fact, Bollywood producers used to copy my work! Maula Jutt was remade there as Jeenay Nahin Dounga, Haq Meher was copied as Sanam Bewafa and Bazar-e-Husn as Tawaif. That was the golden era of Pakistani films!”

According to Bhatti, a production company is judged for its, originality. “That’s why I took a break from films; it’s against my nature to repeat or copy other’s work,” he explained.

“It’s my commitment that LPD will be a great addition to Lollywood. I have also been waiting for my son to graduate from National College of Arts (NCA) and introduce him through the film. It’s important to motivate new, young talent and benefit from their ideas.”

Muhammad Muttaqi, Bhatti’s son and CEO of Bahoo Films Corporation said, “It’s a mega budget film and we’re casting some of Pakistan’s biggest artists, as well as some old ones from Maula Jutt. We plan to shoot in the northern areas of Pakistan and abroad,” he revealed. “My father and I have been developing LPD’s music, script and dialogues for a long time now.”

“It’s a fact that people are still trying to replicate the film. Just recently, a director asked us for the official rights to Maula Jutt but we refused. It’s the longest-running Pakistani film of all time! No one else can produce it and when the time is right, Bahoo Film Corporation will make Maula Jutt 2 as well,” he stated.

“Haq Meher won Best Direction at the Iran Faras International Film Festival in 1994, Bazar-e-Husn won Best Film in Moscow. Even LPD is going to be huge! This time, our priority is new talent and we’re conducting interviews at university level.”

Muqabil Episode 24 Review – Headed Towards A Happy Ending?

I was expecting this episode of Muqabil to be the last one since it was announced that the previous one was the second last episode and honestly speaking, I did not feel that there was much left to show or discuss but apart from Sara’s track which is terribly forced, everything else about this episode was on point. The writer could have kept the viewer’s guessing how Pareesa and Arman’s track will end without bringing Sara in the picture. Sunbal’s encounter with that man in the graveyard and the way she explained everything to her mother had to be the highlight of this episode. Although she does not hate her father but she understands what Pareesa went through and why Shehnaz took such an extreme step. It is also logical that she wants to remember her father as the person she thought he was as opposed to someone who violated a girl his daughter’s age. This episode also gave hope for a happy ending for Arman and Pareesa as well.

Pareesa’s state of mind was shown brilliantly throughout. Her dialogues in the last scene in particular were very touching. Pareesa is once again lost and this time she is more lost than ever but even then she was shown as someone who is looking for a solution to this situation instead of blaming others. Kubra Khan acted brilliantly once again but her styling and make-up just like every other episode proved to be a major glitch in this entire scenario. Watching her console her brother even at this point and volunteering to leave the house went to show that Pareesa learned to take care of herself and also other people around her a long time back! It was also good to see Shehnaz feeling guilty but it would have been so much better if there was at least one scene in which she talked to Pareesa about this entire situation. She is still distant and like Aftab said she is feeling sorry for herself. I definitely liked Aftab’s approach better. He talked to Pareesa about everything and also tried to make Shehnaz understand that she was not the victim in this situation.

Arman once again was shown confused about the entire situation and it looked like he had given up. The reason for this is that he still loves Pareesa despite of everything that happened, in his heart he knows that Pareesa also loves him. Sara’s character and the role she is playing right now has to be the most annoying part of this track. Arman makes it only too obvious that he is marrying Sara as an escape, not sure from what now since Pareesa is already gone! Sara never loved him but all of a sudden she is so excited about getting married to him although there are other men who would like to marry her. This whole situation is only meant to confuse the viewers about Arman’s state of mind and to make them wonder whether he will marry Sara or not although it is quite apparent that this marriage will not take place. Since Sara and Arman have no “history” and her sudden interest in Arman is rather strange therefore I am guessing that this track was added later on after the drama gained popularity.

Sunbal and Zubeida understood Pareesa’s situation better in this episode but Arman still considers himself a bigger victim than Pareesa. After this episode, there is hope now that he might at some point realize that he can still put the past behind him and live a happy life with Pareesa. It will be difficult for them both but it is a possibility.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 14 Review – Makes Me Happy!

Ohkay so, first off, you guys need to have a goofy smile on your face, that’s a pre-requisite for watching & enjoying this drama because without it, you won’t be able to take this sweetest drama as it comes. I love how every single episode gives me so many reasons to smile. Every single scenario, every single conversation, every thing just fits so perfectly & shows how everything is just right rather perfect in this drama. For someone like me who is a huge fan of romantic comedies, Yeh Raha Dil is a treat to watch & I am so happy! :)

So, Jimmy revealed everything to Nida & they both devised a plan to stop Zaki from ditching her. I will say that I liked Nida’s approach where she spoke to her father & just decided to go with the flow as she wants to be around Affaq, Hayat & especially Zaki. It was quite interesting how Nida in stead of creating a fuss about what she heard, decided to play a mind game with everyone around. However, does this make Nida evil? The answer is a clear cut no because it only makes Nida a bit insecure & jealous which are such emotions that everyone at certain point in their lives do experience. I think it shows the insight of the writer where he tried to show that things can be tackled in a certain way too. I will speak a little more about Nida in the ending part of my review.

Oooooh, so we finally got to know that Zaki succeeded in pulling Hayat’s heartstrings & that is why she was emotionally disturbed as for the first time in her life, she was forcing herself to do something which she doesn’t want to, which was pushing Zaki away. May be this is the first time that a guy like Zaki, who is so considerate has confessed love to her & also because she is so comfortable around him that she feels attracted to him but just because she knows there’s Nida in between, she has to stop herself from growing closer to him. I loved that entire scene where Hayat just cried everything out without saying a word to her friend because she doesn’t want to disclose this secret to anyone right now. At least it is good to know that Hayat has started thinking on those lines too but right now, she is stopping herself & rightly so.

I loved Haroon & Zaki’s conversation. I think more than Zaki or even more than Hayat, it was Haroon who was happy that Hayat was going to get Hayat House back. I loved how he encouraged Zaki to go & propose to Hayat because he knew that she’d be on cloud 9 so she might accept his proposal. Haroon not only told Zaki to approach Hayat but he also directed his focus towards his own feelings because Haroon knows Zaki is still a little confused or even if he has made up his mind, being a soft-hearted person, he will never be able to reject Nida easily. At least Haroon knows that his son needs some guidance, encouragement & support in order to make the right choice, that is why he is being persistent. In the initial episodes, we only got to see Haroon as a father who didn’t have much faith in his son but who would’ve thought that as the episodes will pass by, we all will end up enjoying Haroon’s character so much because he is such a perfect father.

So, Hayat got all the surprises in one day & her reaction was obviously quite natural where she was unable to absorb everything that was happening. It was quite sweet how Zaki was there to celebrate such a big day in Hayat’s life & what was even more important was that the moment Hayat felt uncomfortable, she reached out to Zaki to just share what she was feeling. Even though I don’t have any issues but I really wish the writer shows that Affaq is not too naive to be falling prey to both Nida & Fatima’s planning, especially Fatima’s since he knows that before coming to Pakistan, she wanted to get divorced, so at least he should be intelligent enough to read between the lines as to what is it that is stopping Fatima from leaving Pakistan & delaying the divorce. Also, I hope if not anyone else, at least Haroon is able to decipher Nida’s ulterior motives & at least he is able to warn Zaki to beware.

Well, to be honest, I think Nida will end up changing after she will get attention & love from Hayat. I think the writer deliberately revealed a little but important detail about Nida that she spent a chunk of her life in a hostel, where she felt alone & isolated, so this is the reason why she has become so cold & distant that she doesn’t get emotional a bit too easily especially when it comes to her family members. It also showed that Nida yearned & longed for a companionship which she couldn’t get so may be now that she will stick with Hayat for a completely different reason, she will end up changing her perspective because of the attention that she’ll get & also because of the sisterly bond that she will share with Hayat. Hayat has such a nature where Nida won’t be able to fool her or have ill feelings towards her for so long & this will change her entire personality for the better. I have this sort of a feeling because Nida throughout the story has showcased this trait of hers a lot of times where she does get affected emotionally at times & also that she is not a completely evil person, so I am sure she will change & will feel ashamed that she was trying to fool Hayat & frame Zaki.

I did pick on a little detail which I think was added by the writer to bring it to our & Hayat’s attention which was the Principal’s mention of her mother’s rift with Affaq. When she saw that Hayat was a little shattered, she tried to talk her into forgiving Affaq & told her not to think too much about what transpired between her parents, which actually did suggest that she knew a little more about the divorce that took place between them & most importantly why? Also, seeing how affectionate Affaq is, how easy-going he is as a person & also after seeing Hayat’s mother, I am not too sure why she seemed a little unusual to me, like I don’t know how to explain because even though they have shown her near the end of her life but I feel she was the one who had issues in this marriage & not Affaq. I don’t want to give Affaq a clean chit & I am definitely not giving him one because he is walking an extra mile for Hayat that too after 20 years especially when he stumbled across her by chance, but somehow I feel he wasn’t at fault as much as Hayat’s mother was. I remember even Affaq hinted about not wanting to delve into the details from the past as he didn’t want to ruin the memories Hayat had of her mother & tarnish the reputation of the deceased but still, I am sure there’s more to their divorce that hasn’t been revealed but has been touched upon slightly to stir some curiosity & it surely has worked!

I thoroughly enjoyed this episode because it was filled with so many flavors, there were emotional moments, there were fun moments, some interesting conversations, some meaningful ones, like it just had everything! Things are looking good for Hayat but are a bit shaky for Zaki as he hasn’t been able to speak to Nida & I am sure seeing how Nida is busy being a part of one small happy family, Zaki will be even more hesitant as he wouldn’t want to ruin these moments for her. Nida’s plan is definitely working at the moment so let’s see when & where will she stop. Still not feeling Hassan’s character & honestly speaking, every time he comes into the picture I feel like forwarding his scenes, may be as the preview suggested, he will loosen up a bit as Hayat will try to befriend him but still, not too impressed with him. All the actors like I always say did a wonderful job. I will definitely say that the way the director has kept things easy & casual in this drama gives it a very nice & warm feel, like you can relate to these characters & understand them because they seem genuine. Last but definitely not the least, the captain of the ship; Mustafa Afridi deserves special appreciation for another perfect episode. It is amazing how he has added so many minute details that give us an entirely different perspective & effortlessly force us to read between the lines. I can’t emphasize enough how everything about this drama is simply amazing. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Shaan Shahid: I think that people who obsess over promoting themselves on social media are afraid that they will be forgotten if they don’t do so.

It isn’t a secret that Shaan Shahid always speaks his mind. The actor who is currently shooting for Zarrar is gearing up for his film Yalghaar’s release.

#Zarrar it begins..

A post shared by Shaan Shahid (@official.shaanshahid) on

In a recent interview with Dawn, Shaan opened up about social media publicity.

The Yalghaar star handles his social media accounts personally and is less active compared to other celebrities.

Here’s what he has to say about it:

“I think that people who obsess over promoting themselves on social media are afraid that they will be forgotten if they don’t do so. Someday, I might get someone to manage my social media profile too but personally, I prefer interacting with humans.”

He then shared his thoughts about Shah Rukh Khan’s social media interactions with fans.

“You have to remember that Shah Rukh Khan is a 52-year-old millionaire who is desperate to grasp at whatever fame he gets.”

“When I’m at work, I can interact with the media, but in my private life, I simply can’t go about showing the world that these are my friends, this is where I’m eating, here’s where I’m vacationing,” he added

He then criticized celebrities for using Boomerang and Snapchat filters!

“I can’t swing about and be part of Boomerangs. I can’t take selfies with fans where floral wreaths and dog’s ears suddenly pop over my head. I’d rather focus on what’s real.”

Sammi Episode 16 Review – Significant Developments

I love the pace of this drama and also the fact that the writer has a very strong grip on the story and the director has done everything he could to make it as realistic as possible. I have said this before but every time I watch a new episode of Sammi, I feel the need to say it again, I truly appreciate the fact that the writer and director both have done complete justice to all the tracks of the story which is why all of them are equally interesting. None of the characters or tracks is ever relegated to the background. The fact that all these tracks are interlinked also makes the whole scenario more interesting.

The change in Rashid’s character and Naheed’s conversation with Salima had to be my favorite part of this episode. Rashid has finally had enough and he has decided to change his priorities in life. He is no longer comfortable playing Chaudhry’s “kutta” and he understands that his daughters deserve better. He couldn’t do anything to save Sammi but he wants to do whatever he can to make his daughter’s lives better. I had no trouble connecting to the change in Rashid’s character because he was always shown as someone who did not really belong in this system but was only trying really hard to be a part of it because he believed he did not have a lot of options. He has now decided to make some choices himself and for a change his mother is supporting him. Maryam’s reaction to her father’s changed behaviour was right on point. The actress playing Maryam’s role is brilliant, she manages to make a big impact even if she has very little screen time.

I simply loved the entire situation which finally led to Naheed disclosing her secret to Salima. She could see why Salima was willing to put her life at stake in order to have Rashid’s son. It was wonderful watching these two weak women having this moment together in which one of them decided to help the other even though she herself is going through hell and the other one also poured her heart out to her because she had no one to talk to. Naheed’s character has been one of my favorite characters in the play; her situation is anything but ideal but even then she always finds ways to help others. Although her character is very different from that of Salima but both these women are equally vulnerable. Even with all the awareness, the education and even the strength Naheed is just as helpless as Salima. Nadia Afghan and Saman Ansari both are remarkable actresses; both of them have always altered their outlook and their acting style to suit the needs of the characters they are translating on screen.

Sammi’s track also took a really interesting turn in this episode and I am glad that Chandni is back in the picture. I can’t appreciate Noor-ul-Huda Shah enough for thinking everything through so well; when Salar sent Aalyan that recording the viewers were pretty sure this development will have a bigger impact on the story at some point but no one could tell it would one day help Sammi in this way. I couldn’t understand why Sammi was shown wearing all this make-up though. Sammi’s mother’s apology showed that she was “sorry” but not sorry enough! She also justified her actions while she apologized and accepted the fact that she couldn’t sacrifice her son to save Sammi. There was a time when Sammi thought there was hope, she was in denial and could not accept the fact that her family had forsaken her but everything she said to her mother tonight clearly showed that she did not expect anything from her family now. Aalyan finally managed to knock some sense into the chota chauhdry and it was great watching him do something right for a change. I can’t praise Bilal Khan and the child actor playing chota chaudhry enough for doing complete justice to their respective characters.

Am I the only one who really missed chaudhrani in this episode? I have a feeling that ultimately she will also help Sammi in some way. I can totally see all these characters rebelling against the chaudhry very soon. I can’t wait to see how the story unfolds in the upcoming episodes.

Sohai Ali Abro: I don’t believe in overexposure and have never enjoyed unnecessary publicity.

Having stolen our hearts with various roles, Sohai Ali Abro is a force to be reckoned with. A very talented actress who is currently categorised among one of the top actors of Pakistan. After appearing in JPNA, Sohai has now bagged the lead role in motorcycle girl’s biopic who is said to be the first Pakistan woman to have made a solo journey through the country’s north.

In an interview with the Express Tribune, Sohai opened up on fame, feminism and road to success.

“The fame wasn’t really instant since I had been working for a couple of years before my film debut. I don’t feel that fame has changed me as a person. It just gave me the determination to perform better and become the best version of myself,” she said when questioned her momentary rise to stardom.

“I had a difficult childhood with my parents passing away when I was 9. I have seen really tough times and I’m very grateful for everything, because it made me this tough woman that I am today. I am a warrior! I came into this industry completely on my own,” she continued.

“I faced my fair share of struggles and didn’t have many people around to guide me through the journey. I might not be as talented as a lot of others but I am a hard worker. With all this in mind, it is really important for me to stay grounded because life and experiences have taught me that. Nothing is constant in this world, especially fame,” she added.

When asked if she believes, her break might have affected her fan following? “I don’t believe in overexposure and have never enjoyed unnecessary publicity. I believe in quality rather than quantity when it comes to my projects, appearances and work in general,” she replied.

Speaking about her upcoming film on the motorcycle girl, Sohai said, “I was speechless when I saw Shah. I feel that Adnan is such a sensitive and intelligent filmmaker and truly believe in the kind of cinema he wants to create. I just knew I had to work with him someday, so when he called me for Motorcycle Girl, I agreed immediately. No matter what the budget is, I believe in this project. I also believe in Adnan’s vision, since he can see how important it is to portray empowered women in our society.”

“The films I have done so far have been very different from the kind of film this is. Of course, what the audience sees on the screen are the characters I play as per the script,” Abro said. “My criteria for signing a film have always been the same. I have always looked for some kind of margin to perform in the roles that I am offered. I instantly said yes Motorcycle Girl because it allows me to explore myself as an artist.”

“The pressure is definitely there, but I’ve always wanted to play a strong female role. I think Zenith is a true hero and her story is beyond inspiring. It’s one that needs to be told,” Abro asserted. “It feels surreal since films like these don’t really get made in our country, and to get to portray the lead role in one is amazing! The preparation itself is something I’m really looking forward to. It’s going to be a personal journey for me and hopefully, a life changing experience.”

Speaking about women-oriented films and evolution of cinema, she said “Of course, art does influence societies and can definitely encourage gender equality.”

She continues, “The audiences are way more intelligent than they used to be and you can’t take them for a ride anymore. I feel intelligent cinema can definitely be commercially successful if executed properly and in the right manner.”

Hope you all are keeping up with #kaisiyepaheli ! ???? Mondays 8pm on #urdu1 ?❤️

According to Abro, cinema is a reflection of society. “When it comes to feminism, I feel the word is deeply misunderstood in Pakistan. Feminism has absolutely nothing to do with man-hating, playing the victim or bashing the other sex. It’s about giving women a choice, liberation, freedom and equality. Feminism, by definition is the belief that both men and women should have equal rights and opportunities. I stand for that, if that makes me a feminist, then I am proud to say that I am one.”
