No doubt time flies. Last year in the auspicious month of Ramadan ul Mubarak Pakistan lost it’s legendary Qawwali singer Amjad Sabri to target killing in Karachi. Sabri was loved by all and had a personality that touches your heart deep with in. It was 16th Ramadan when he was shot while going to an aftari transmission.

He will stay in our hearts and his vocals will always remain alive. Today marks his first death anniversary but did he get justice? Yes he got coverage and love he deserved but did the state get the justice he should have got. The best thing Pakistani government and people would have done for him would be providing him justice. That would have been the absolute token of love for the legend but an year has passed and his assassins still wander independently on the streets. In the end Even Benazir Bhutto never got justice and she was the Ex Prime Minister of Pakistan. We pray that May Allah shower his blessings on Amjad and his family and provide him with a place in Jannah! He will always be remembered!

The family of Amjad Sabri has decided to leave the country over security concerns, reported Dawn.

“We feel we are being watched,” he told Dawn, explaining why his family is relocating. He clarified that the family has received no threats to their life.

“We are trying to settle in London, we have a brother there,” he said, adding that the family “would be ready to leave tomorrow if we got the visas.”

Speaking to ARY News earlier, Azmat had said: “We feel unsafe here now, even though we have lived here all our lives and love Liaquatabad.”

Just a few weeks back, the list of the artists set to appear in Coke Studio Season 9 was revealed, and fans were anticipating Amjad Sabri’s Coke Studio debut. Amjad Sabri collaborated with Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan to sing the famous and well-loved qawwali, Aaj Rang Hai. Last month, Amjad Sabri had talked fondly of his collaboration with Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, “About 40 years ago, my father and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan read this kalaam at a dargah in Karachi and 40 years later, Rahat and I are reading it again [on Coke Studio Season 9].”

It is produced by one of the six producers, Shani Arshad. Talking to Express Tribune, Shani voiced his shock and grief at Amjad Sabri’s death. “To me his death comes as an even greater shock because I had only recently worked with him on the qawwali for Coke Studio.”

“I think it will be a fitting tribute for Amjad Sabri and a great surprise for his fans as he’s done a remarkable job on the single.”

String, the mentors of Season 9, said, “The tragic death of Amjad Sabri is a huge national loss. In spite of his great success nationally and internationally, he was a gentle and humble person, treasured and respected by everyone who met him.”

A production crew member revealed, “Unlike majority of the artistes, Amjad and Rahat did not require multiple takes to nail the track. They recorded the song in one go instead.”

This will be a fitting tribute to Amjad Sabri and a fine way to bid farewell to the legend. Amjad Sabri will be dearly missed.

Not only that, but we were always surrounded by people as well. I know it was their love, but we had no private time. Once, I even called out a famous channel’s anchor, but he deleted that part from the interview. When he asked me, ‘Do you remember your father?’ I responded, ‘Is your father alive? I will ask about him when he is no more. We moved to Lahore just to avoid the limelight and exposure.”

Amjad Sabri was a renowned Pakistani qawwal, internationally famous for his powerful vocals, popular Kalams and strong legacy. He tragically lost his life in 2016 after being shot by unidentified gunmen during the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak. He was around 39 years old at the time of his death and left behind five children and two wives. Amjad Sabri’s sudden and tragic passing was a shock to his fans. It was late night and locals stopped him from road trip but he planned it. They stopped at a tea stall at night, the tea stall owners were already playing Bhar Do Jholi when Baba’s driver introduced him to tea stall owners that this song is by Amjad Sabri’s father and he himself is a big Qawwal. They made him sat there and made tea for him, the dangerous robbers were also sitting nearby him and upon knowing about him, they came to him, greeted him, heard Qawali and gave gifts as well, not only this, they also guided him to take safe routes from this area because the decoits and robbers are hiding in the bushes because it is their time of robbery”. These were the words of the culture minister Syed Sardar Shah in the event organised in the memory of late Amjad Sabri. Sabri’s family including his brothers and children enthusiastically participated in the event which was initailly scheduled to held on 22nd June but was held early .The show started with M. Wasi Nizami. It also included the wonderful performances by  Farid Ayaz and Abu Muhammad who also shed light on the life of Amjad Sabri.

Mr Shah also announced the making of a qawali Institute in the name of Amjad Sabri ,in Sindh as a tribute to him and his family. He briefed everyone about Billawal Bhutto Zardari’s meeting with the Sabri family in which he had already promised the making of an institute that will train the young qawals. Mr shah said that the Institute has already been made and will officially start in August.

Amjad Sabri’s heart-wrenching death a year ago shocked all his fans but Legends like him never die  and the Amajd Sabri Institute is indeed an example that will keep him alive in our hearts forever.

Like many other celebrities of Pakistan Amjad Sabri is also not happy with Pakistani media because he feels that Pakistani media always highlights the negative trends pertaining to a celebrity’s life instead of the positive ones. Amjad Sabri shared his feelings about this negative trend in the media when he was part of Maya Khan’s Ramadan Transmission.

Amjad Sabri said that he had taken legal action against all those involved in making the Qawwali “Bhar Do Jholi Meri” a part of Salman Khan’s latest Bollywood flick “Bajrangi Bhaijaan”. This Qawwali was originally sung by Amjad Sabri’s father Maqbool Sabri along with Ghulam Farid therefore he feels that being his son his permission should have been taken before anyone decided to sing this Qawwali in a film. He also said that no credit was given to his father and he also did not like the changes which were made in the Qawwali to make it fit in the film.

Amjad Sabri said that the Indian media was highlighting this issue but the Pakistani media was only praising the Qawwali sung by Adnan Sami Khan and not talking about the legal technicalities involved. He said that the leading newspapers of India like Indian Times were contacting him day and night so that they could learn about the latest developments in the case but none of the Pakistani newspapers or channels had contacted him. Amjad Sabri said that the media should set its priorities straight and learn what they really should be focusing on. Maya Khan who is hosting the Ramadan transmission on TV One promised the Qawal that she will highlight this issue even if no one else was going to do it.

While Mumbai police have already declared that Om Puri suffered a head injury.

“We suspect that Puri died of heart-attack, however, it will be confirmed after viscera report. After suffering the cardiac arrest, he might have fallen causing the injury on his forehead. He was alone at home and there was no sign of forced entry. At this stage, we have ruled out the possibility of any foul play,” said a senior officer of Mumbai Police.

The Oshiwara police questioned the actor’s close friend and film producer Khalid Kidwai, who told them that some hours before his death, an intoxicated Puri wanted to meet his son.

“He poured a drink in his glass and waited for almost 45 minutes at Nandita’s flat. But when they did not turn up, he took the glass and liquor bottle and started drinking in the car. After finishing the drink, we left,” said producer Khalid Kidwai(close friend of Om Puri) to Mumbai Mirror.

Khalid further said, “I have given them a detailed account of whatever happened on Thursday. I have also told police that he desperately wanted to meet his son, Ishaan, but unfortunately, it did not happen.”

He’s had people on his show who wanted him to be their father. I mean Meera just had a few husbands, that’s it but she never admits having one. Amir isn’t like her, he is fearless. He married a girl half his age and didn’t hide it. How many would do that?

But seems like all is not well with him these days. He has been indicted by the Supreme Court for committing contempt of court during a television program. However, he pleaded not guilty of the charges when they were read to him. Although, He sought apology but the court rejected it saying that time for apologies has now passed.

Well, seems he has really rubbed  authorities the wrong way and they are not in mood to forgive him. He has been asked to appear in the for the next hearing of the case on November 29. Amir was elected MNA from Karachi when he contested elections for PTI. His win was criticized but later people swallowed it like a bitter pill. He had also been criticizing the premier for not giving enough attention to Karachi.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf National Assembly member Aamir Liaquat Hussain is shifted to the hospital in critical condition. Amir Liaquat suddenly fell ill and was rushed to the hospital last night. He has been admitted to South City Hospital in Karachi with a complaint of high fever.

In this regard, it was reported from the official Twitter account of PTI MNA that “the condition of Aamir Liaquat Hussain is critical and he is being shifted to South City Hospital.”

The scholar later took to Twitter to thank his fans for their concern and shared that he’s feeling much better now.

No one can doubt that Amir Liaquat Hussain is one of the biggest newsmakers of Pakistan. Be it AAm Khaayega or bashing his previous place of work, he stays in news and always finds a way to share his opinions with the public through morning shows, Ramadan transmissions and news talk shows. Recently though Amir has been banned by PEMRA from all sorts of airing media including TV channels and FM radio.

So after getting a ban from all media, Amir has launched his own news website on 14 January. The site will showcase all the viral news and Amir’s take on them in the shape of written columns and videos. The site features categories like business, technology and showbiz too. The website is in Urdu.
