I am certain I am not the only one who tuned into Shaista Lodhi’s talk show for the first time ever only because Babar Khan was going to talk about his battle with depression, how he lost the love of his life and so much more. Even though I did not have high expectations from Shaista Lodhi and only tuned into this show to hear what Babar had to say but even then Shaista Lodhi’s overacting which I am certain wasn’t part of the “script” and the kind of questions she asked Babar made my blood boil. Shaista’s made-up expressions every time the camera zoomed into her, the inappropriate words she used during the show, trying to play the counselor in a live show and digging so deep into every minor detail made her presence the worst thing about this entire show.

The main objective of the host is not to make the guests comfortable or to help them heal in any way but the main aim is to make the guest who is already going through a difficult phase even more emotional so that they give in and shed a tear or two!
The format of the show itself was strange and highly insensitive. Yes, we all know that Bisma (Babar’s second wife) sacrificed a great deal and she came in Babar’s life when he was still madly in love with Sana but rubbing that fact in and putting a person like her in an awkward position by asking her questions she had no answers for was just plain sad. I am sure everyone out there feels for Bisma just as much as they do for Babar but if the producers of the show and Shaista Lodhi herself had an ounce of respect or empathy they wouldn’t have been so irresponsible when it came to the kind of questions Bisma was forced to answer. Shaista’s questions and the format of the show made it one of the most awkward and painful shows to watch till the end. It was dramatized and sensationalized by the producers and the host for ratings. Forcing someone to reveal the most private details of their personal life on television is just as ruthless as leaving those judgmental comments on social media which Shaista criticized over and over again. I am wondering when our hosts will learn to truly respect their guests and understand what they are going through instead of using their tragedies for personal gains!
Back in March 2014, we had all heard about the unfortunate accident that resulted in Pakistan’s First Miss Veet model turned actress Sana Khan’s death as the car in which she and her husband of three months Babar Khan were travelling enroute to Hyderabad crashed fatally. Then, in 2015, we got to know about Babar Khan’s second marriage to a girl in her teens, Bisma Khan. Babar had been out of the show I scene since Sana’s death, hence these news remained news and nobody knew the real story behind them.
Today, in Shaista Lodhi’s morning show, Babar Khan made an appearance and talked about everything that happened in his life since that unfortunate day. His was a love marriage and they had merely spent three months together when Sana unexpectedly left him for her eternal abode. Babar was extremely honest and vulnerable today by speaking of how it effected him. He told her that Sana’s demise had left him so depressed that he tried to take his life on many occasions after that. The aftermath of accident left him suicidal to the extent that he took sleeping pills and searched for different ways to attempt suicide while escaping the friends and family who swarmed him everyday, afraid for his own safety.
Shaista had also called his mother, Ishrat who spoke of a mother’s pain as she saw her only child slipping away in depression helplessly. She told of the day of accident when Babar refused to recognise anyone else except the dead body of his beloved wife. He had spilt open his head in the accident which he never got stitched and the wound got infected and he also developed seizures due to a blood clot in his brain as he did not want any medical intervention for himself after Sana’s death, so intent was he on passing away with her.
He seemed like an extremely loving husband to Sana, but sadly she could not live long enough to indulge in his love and care. Their love story and his condition after her death seems like one out of movies but it is true and very very saddening.
Shaista Lodhi then called Babar’s second wife Bisma and their kids Maryam and Ibrahim on the show. Babar told her how the birth of his daughter Maryam gave him the courage and happiness to move forward in a life that had lost all charm for him.
Bisma Khan is a beautiful young girl who got married to him after her matric and did inter later. The two married in 2015 and she is already a mother twice. Speaking of her experience with Babar Khan, she told in a gentle manner that she agreed to this marriage for her parents’ sake and that Babar had already told her about his love for Sana which she understood.
The adorable young bride told that she had found it confusing and difficult to adjust with him earlier and even through pregnancy but when Babar took their little girl in his arms for the first time, he was a changed man altogether.
Shaista then probed them about their love life and made Babar say romantic dialogues to Bisma which seemed a little forced, even though he appears to be a good and caring husband for his second wife as well, even though not as romantically inclined, which makes a lot of practical sense. His union with Sana was stuff made out of dreams, mystified more by her early demise. His marriage with Bisma is based more on life’s practicalities, especially since they are parents to two under two at the moment.
All in all, it was one of Shaista Lodhi’s best shows where the guests and even the host actually had a real topic to talk about. It was a sad but meaningful one and you walk away with the messages of not taking any loved one for granted as life is very unpredictable and that it goes on. People closer to you than life pass away but life goes on.

Soon after Junaid jamshed’s death, many stars paid their tributes to the Islamic preacher. Some jammed to his famous songs and some sang for him. Recently Junaid Jamshed’s son Babar, released a video on Facebook paying tribute to his father. Babar in the video is seen reciting Junaid’s popular Naat, ‘Ilahi Teri Chokhat Pe Bikhari Ban Ke Aya Hun’. Earlier, Junaid Jamshed’s eldest son Taimur wrote a Facebook post and revealed that Junaid Jamshed had been praying for ‘martyrdom’. He further wrote, “One of his companions told me that during one of his sermons in Chitral, he stopped and asked everyone to say Ameen to his dua which was, Aye Allah, mujhe apni rah mein shahadat naseeb farma.”
After Junaid Jamshed’s sad and unexpected demuse, his legacy was carried on by his three sons, especially the older two, Taimoor and Babar.

Not everyone knows that the star batsman Babar Azam has struggled a lot throughout his career to achieve the success he deserved. Babar Azam in an interview with “PCB” shared his inspiring journey from a ball-picker to the captain of Pakistan’s National Cricket team. “I started my journey back in 2007. I had a dream to watch Pakistani and international players playing cricket. At that time, South Africa’s team came to Pakistan and the moment I got to know I asked someone to let me join the team as a ball-picker and somehow that person managed and I went into the stadium as a ball-picker. I used to walk from my home to reach the stadium. I remember the month of Ramadan was going on but still I used to go and I used to save the food which I used to get from the stadium that I’ll take it home and someone from the family will eat it”, says Babar Azam.
Babar Azam while further narrating his journey, mentioned that “I also watched Inzamam-ul-Haq playing the last match of his career. My journey was not easy at all. I had a dream to play for my country and Allah Almighty has fulfilled my dream today. I feel very lucky that how God helped me to reach at a point where I always dreamt of being. The journey from 2007 till now was all about sacrifices, ups and downs, hard work and much more.”
“When I was working as a ball-picker in South Africa’s match, I remember a incident that I was standing on the boundary and I caught the ball and the commentator at that moment said that this guy has a long way to go and I still remember those words. I used to watch the players to learn their techniques, especially I used to look up to AB de Villiers”, said Babar.
Babar further added that “If we you are working on your dream you will achieve success step by step. It’s not difficult but you won’t directly achieve it, you have to move step by step. Like I was a ball-picker but I had a dream to play in national cricket team and today I’m the captain of the team because of my hard work and the believe I had on myself and Allah Almighty.”
Babar Azam’s father while sharing an emotional story from Babar Azam’s journey, mentioned that “I used to have an old motorcycle which was not in a good condition at all. I have a skin allergy due to sun and heat from last 10 years because I used to sit outside and wait when Babar used to play inside the stadium. I only used to have a little amount of money from which I can buy lunch for just one person. From that money I used to bring lunch for Babar but Babar used to eat half of it because he knew that I haven’t eaten anything but I’m lying so that he can have his meal properly. Babar used to lie that I’ve to go and play so I’ll only eat half of it. We will never forget those difficult days.”
