There are very few romantic comedies which make you connect to the characters instantly because they are not pointless and 7 Din Mohabbat In is definitely one of those films. It is appealing right from the get-go and holds your interest till the end. 7 Din Mohabbat In is not just another love story, it is unique and unforgettable. Shehryar Munawar’s award-winning performance is the highlight of this film since the story essentially revolves around his character. It was truly refreshing and extremely enjoyable watching Mahira Khan play a character which was both sweet and appealing. Neeli is one-of-a-kind heroine who doesn’t get as much screen time as the hero but definitely manages to impress in every single scene. Javed Sheikh once again manages to make his presence felt. He keeps on surprising the viewers with his definite screen presence and continues to play roles in films which are completely different from one another but are always impressive and entertaining. The stellar performances by the entire cast, intelligent direction and first-rate special effects are few of the reasons why this film is a must-watch. Mira Sethi’s performance is the most pleasant surprise in this film. The superb styling and brilliant makeovers also give this film a definite edge.
7 Din Mohabbat In is the story of a young man who sets out on an unexpected journey in the most unusual manner. This journey turns out to be an exciting, unpredictable and engrossing adventure. The people he finds along the way are equally interesting and pleasing. The story never gets too serious and even those comic dialogues which weren’t exactly brand new were translated on screen in such a manner that they had a fresh appeal. The background score is impressive throughout and the editing is perfect. All the songs in the film are different from one another but equally pleasing. The cinematography is top-notch throughout.
7 Din Mohabbat In is definitely a must-watch. In my opinion it is not one of the best but the best Pakistani film of recent times. Shehryar Munawar and Mahira Khan look perfect together and their sizzling on-screen chemistry coupled with their delightfully entertaining track will leave you spell-bound. The entire supporting cast of this film is equally impressive and faultless. This film has all the right ingredients in the right proportions and is emotionally gratifying. If you are looking for something fun and entertaining to watch this Eid then don’t miss this one!
Seven Corona patients died due to lack of continuous supply of oxygen at Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar, the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
According to the hospital administration, the incident took place on Sunday when oxygen supply to the patients was not provided in time. The patients died due to unavailability of continuous supply of oxygen.
Hospital officials said patients from other wards were also affected by the untimely delivery of oxygen cylinders.
A spokesman for Khyber Teaching Hospital said that oxygen cylinders were being supplied to the hospital from Rawalpindi but due to unavoidable reasons oxygen cylinders did not arrive from Rawalpindi in time. However, the investigations are being done in this regard. Five patients from isolation ward have been died due to unavailability of oxygen cylinders and two patients from ICU have also been died.
A spokesman for Khyber Teaching Hospital said that 100 oxygen cylinders were on standby and an investigation had already been launched into the incident.

St. Patrick’s Cathedral (Karachi)
St. Patrick’s Cathedral was built in 1881 near one of the oldest church of Karachi. The cathedral is said to be one of the largest in the city boasting of being accommodating 1500 worshipers. The building is reminiscent of being constructed in the British era due to it’s red brick design with stained glass inlay and arched windows which religious scenes. Apart from being holding religious value, the cathedral is also a major tourist attraction.
When one enters the cathedral, they are welcomed by a monument of Christ the King which is a 54 feet structure made of white marble in 1931. Inside the monument is the statue of prominent Christian missionary St. Francis Xavier. In 2003, the government declared St. Patrick’s Cathedral a protected monument under the Sindh Cultural Heritage Protection Act because of its cultural importance and historic Gothic Revival architecture.
St. Paul’s Church (Rawalpindi)
One of Rawalpindi’s oldest churches is the St. Paul’s Church built in 1876. The church can accommodate up to 800 worshipers at a time while it has been a functional religious site since over a 100 years.
Like most churches, this religious site was also constructed during the British Era and boasted of a red brick exterior with wooden ceilings. Recently, the outlook of the church has been changed as it has been painted grey with red sloped ceilings.
St. Mathew’s Church (Nathia Gali)
One of the country’s most beautiful and picturesque churches is this one. St. Mathew’s Church in Nathia Gali is built entirely of cedar wood and looks extremely dreamy set on top of a hill station with lush green trees. A much active church, the site is also famous among tourists.
The Holy Trinity (Murree)
Located on the busy streets of Mall Road, Murree, The Holy Trinity Church dates back to 1857. The architecture of the church boasts of Anglo-Indian style with stained glass inlay and wooden ceiling and floors. The main prayer hall of the church can accommodate 400 people at one time.
Sacred Heart Cathedral (Lahore)
One of Lahore’s most busiest and popular churches is The Sacred Heart Cathedral which dates back to 1907.
The buildings architectural has been constructed using the Roman Byzantine style while it can accommodate 1,500 worshipers at one given time.
St. Mary’s Cathedral (Multan)
Another red brick church, the St. Mary’s Cathedral dates back to 1848 and is over 170 years old. The cathedral is an important historical monument for visitors along with being a site of worship.
The facade of the building is constructed in red brick while the architecture boasts of being Gothic style with material being imported from England.
St. John’s Cathedral (Peshawar)
One of oldest churches in KPK, The St. John’s Cathedral was initially a church around 1860 while it achieved the status of a cathedral two years later in 1862. The cathedral can accommodate up to 700 worshipers at one given time.

Sana Javed & Shoaib Malik Wedding
Sana Javed and Shoaib Malik took the internet by storm the day they shared the news of their Nikkah. The stars are big names in their respective fields and this was a big shock for not only Pakistanis but also Indians. Many people initially thought that their wedding picture was actually from some shoot but the news was confirmed and the wedding was under discussion everywhere.
What led to controversy in this otherwise normal wedding was how the two stars never confirmed their previous separation. The day their marriage was announced shocked people as they thought Shoaib Malik was married to Sania Mirza, the Indian tennis star while Sana Javed was still with Umair Jaswal. The separation was later on confirmed by other parties and all of this combined resulted in mega backlash for both Shoaib Malik and Sana Javed.
Behroze Sabzwari’s Interview With FHM
Behroze Sabzwari is a veteran actor of the industry. He has been a big name in dramas for four decades now. He has been recognized by the public and government both and he is also applauded for the way he has kept his family close and settled despite his son’s first divorce.
The veteran actor got into controversy when he spoke about the former Prime Minister and currently the most famous political leader of the country Imran Khan in an interview with FHM. He was talking in broken points when he said that he has allegedly had a drink with Imran Khan. He also added that Imran Khan is an honest man and not financially corrupt but the drinking bit went viral and was used in an awful manner over the internet. Behroze Sabzwari also announced to take legal action against the clip which did not materialize.
Another huge controversy that took over the internet for several days was Sahil Adeem, Khalil ur Rehamn Qamar and Azba Abdullah’s fight from Mukalma hosted by Ayesha Jahanzeb. Azba, a girl who was also an employee of Samaa asked Sahil Adeem to apologize to women for calling them illiterate. Instead of apologizing, Sahil Adeem went on to justify his own stance and started asking the girl about the meaning of Taghut. This turned into a huge debate and meme war on the internet.
Khalil ur Rehman Qamar also got involved in the fight and started insulting the girl who was asking for an apology. He got even more furious than Sahil Adeem and the show went viral overnight.

Ayesha Jahanzeb Domestic Violence Case
Ayesha Jahanzeb is a very famous host and actress. She is also an educationist who later joined the media and she was able to carve out a place for herself. Ayesha Jahanzeb had already been in the news for hosting the infamous Taghut show when the world was shocked to find out that she has been a victim of domestic abuse by her second husband Mohammad Haris.
Ayesha was brave enough to come forward with her ordeal. She let the case of domestic violence go as children are involved but she has filed for divorce and she has been vocal against abuse that women face at the hands of their own men.
Ayesha is moving forward in life and being strong for her children but seeing such a strong woman as a victim was a shock for society and also a reflection of reality.
Khalil ur Rehman Qamar Kidnapping And Honey Trapping
Khalil ur Rehman Qamar is a famous and controversial writer of Pakistani dramas and films. For the last few years, he has been challenging the feminists of Pakistan and he is generally seen teaching rules to live by to the women of Pakistan. He was also a part of the Taghut controversy before he got into a huge problem.
KRQ was called by a girl Aamna Arooj to her residence in Lahore and he went at 4 a.m. to meet her. He was kidnapped allegedly and beaten and extorted by a gang there. Later on his compromising video with the girl was leaked and he stated that he was forced on gun point to do all of that.
Police are involved and the case is going on against the gang while KRQ has been under immense scrutiny for going to meet the girl at 4 a.m. when he is always preaching morality to others.
Daniya Shah And Hakeem Shahzad Wedding
Dania Shah rose to prominence when she got married to late Aamir Liaquat. She later left him and also leaked his private videos. She has been fighting to get money from his inheritance since and she is also fighting a case filed against her for leaking Aamir’s private pictures. She just shocked the world when she tied the knot to a man named Hakeem Shahzad Loha Paar who is basically a Hakeem.
Hakeem and Dania celebrated a reception while he also revealed that Dania is his fourth wife and he just fell madly in love with her. He has given her a massive Haq Mehar while she is the purest woman on the earth. People criticized this wedding a lot and it was all over the social media.
Cases are on going but Dania has now finally moved forward officially in her personal life.
Barzakh Controversy
Barzakh is the latest series by Asim Abbasi starring Fawad Khan, Sanam Saeed, M Fawad Khan and Salman Shahid among others. It came into limelight due to the comeback of Fawad and Sanam together in a project. People were excited and wanted to watch it. The themes of the show however, put it into a lot of controversy and there has been severe backlash from the public.
The show had queer themes and concepts that did not match the general concepts and beliefs of society which put the show into a very tight spot. The series is over now and Zee Zindagi has decided to pull it off YouTube Pakistan in order to not cause alienation among Pakistani audiences for the platform.

Urwa Hussain is a Pakistani VJ, actress and model. She started her career in 2012 in her debut drama, “Meri Ladli”. She entered the entertainment industry as a VJ and then emerged out as a great actress after some months. She is famous for her dramas, “Meri Ladli, Kahi Unkahi, Kitni Girhein Baki Hain, Udaari etc.” Udaari aired on Hum Tv in the year 2016 and since then she has only be seen doing movies on the big screen. She did her debut movie, “Na Maloom Afraad” in the year 2014. Her latest film was, “Rangreza” in which her lead actor was Bilal Ashraf. She has signed 2 movies that will be released later this year, namely, “Kaaf Kangana and Jhol”.

Shehryaar Munawar is a Pakistani actor and film producer. He started off his career as a model and then became an actor. He is well known for his debut drama on Hum Tv, “Meray Dard Ko Jo Zaban Mile” which aired in the year 2012. His famous dramas are, “Kahi Un Kahi and Zindagi Gulzaar Hai”. He was seen doing a drama in 2014, named, “Aasmanon Pay Likha” since then he hasn’t done any drama serial. His debut movie was, “Ho Mann Jahaan”.One of his movies, “Project Ghazi” is expected to finally get released this year after stopping it’s initial release in 2017. He has also signed a movie, ‘Paray Hat Love” which is to be released later this year.
4. Fahad Mustafa:
Fahad Mustafa is a well known Pakistani actor, producer and a Pakistani game show host. Fahad Mustafa was first seen in a drama serial, “Sheeshay Ka Mahal”. His other famous drama serials comprises of, Haal-e-dil, Bahu Rani, Pul Siraat etc. Later in 2008 he introduced himself as a producer and was successful in this field also. “Meri Beti” aired on Ary Digital in 2013 which was Fahad Mustafa’s first ever production. The latest drama from his production house, airing on Ary digital is, “Cheekh”. His debut movie was, “Na Maloom Afraad” which got released in 2014 and since then he has not worked as a television actor. His latest movies are, “Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2” and “Load Wedding”. Both of these films released in 2018 and were a great success in the Pakistani Box Office. He has currently signed a new project, namely, “Band Toh Ab Bajay Ga” which will be released in 2019.

Maya Ali is a Pakistani actress, VJ and a model. She is well known for her drama serial, “Mann Mayal” for which she also won the award for THE BEST TV ACTRESS. She is mainly famous as a Tv drama actress for doing a bunch of good dramas, including, “Durr-e-Shehwar, Khoya Khoya Chand, Shanakht, Diyar-e-Dil, Mann Mayal, Sanam” and so many more. She was seen in a drama serial ‘Sanam” opposite Usman khalid Butt in 2016 and since then she hasn’t returned to the Tv. In 2018, she came in her debut movie, “Teefa In Trouble” which was a great success. She has signed a new movie, “Paray Hut Love” which is releasing this year.

Fawad Khan is a Pakistani actor, model and a singer. He emerged in the entertainment industry as a singer of 2 rock bands which were operational from 1994 to 2000. His debut drama, “Jutt and Bond” aired on television in the year 2001. His famous drama serials comprises of, “Daastan, Kuch Pyaar Ka Pagalpan, Humsafar, Zindagi Gulzaar Hai” and so many more. He did two amazing telefilms, named, Ajj Kuch Na Kaho in 2010 and Behadd in 2013. His last drama was, “Armaan” which aired in the year 2013 and since then he has not been doing any drama serials. His debut movie was, Bilal Lashari’s, “Khuda Kay Liye”.

One thing that makes my day is good food and dieting , for me, is like lame dramas. Can’t stand it! What I love the most about Pakistani ads is that they never disappoint me when it comes to showing the tastiest foods ever. Whether it be Shan or National, Sprite or Coca Cola, they’ll show foods that will increase your appetite.
With Baqar Eid around the corner I thought I’d compile a list of ads that make waiting for Eid the hardest task ever. They’re just so tasty!
1. Coca Cola TVC (2-3 years old)
This was Sana Javed’s first commercial and this one tops the list for two important reasons.
1. Amazing food.
2. Amazing camerawork. The skill with with the camera was used amazed me! There were so many colours everywhere that no matter now many times I saw this ad, I was stunned!
This one gets second place as it is the tastiest one after the Coke ad. There are three different parts of this ad. The first part shows school kids, the second one shows a beach party and the third one shows a house party.
I’ve already told my mother to save some eid wala gosht for the pizza :D
Green Entertainment is a new channel and it is bringing up new and unique shows for public consumption. We got to see new storylines like Kabli Pulao, Nauroz and College Gate on Green and all these shows managed to get good ratings and high viewership all over the world. Green dramas are also not too long and this gives another incentive to the audience to tune into Green. After some big shows are coming to an end on the channel, Green is now set to air another batch of its new dramas.

EK Jhooti Love Story first came out as a webseries on Zee5 and people loved it. Starring Madiha Imam and Bilal Abbas Khan, it is making its television debut now on Green TV.
Pakistani cinema and films have seen a long struggle to vouch audiences to the cinemas. The long-lasting revival of Pakistani cinema is the much needed excellence and the rising number of films each year is bringing in more support and masses. With a number of Bollywood films releasing recently, Pakistani films might struggle to get the audience to the cinemas but nevertheless what it is, we must give our films a chance to succeed and not let them get effected from other major industries. Only 3-4 major Pakistani films are releasing this month and one of them is Balu Mahi which is hitting the cinemas on February 10th. So we here, bring you six reasons on why you should look forward to Balu Mahi.
1) Osman Khalid Butt and Sadaf Kanwal’s debut film
Balu Mahi marks OKB and Sadaf’s first commercial film as actors. We know that OKB has disappointed his fans with his role in Sanam, but let’s give him the benefit of doubt yet again since we expect a power packed performance from him in his upcoming flick and not to forget he’s really handsome too. Sadaf Kanwal on the other hand is the rising star of Pakistan, from being a super model to bagging a role in a leading film is a fast and impressive journey.
2) Ainy Jaffri essaying a different role
Ainy Jaffri is mostly seen essaying the cliched damsel in distress roles in dramas but this time her character Mahi seems like a happy go lucky girl. A girl who is fearless and full of life and is a character we wouldn’t want to miss as she looks purely gorgeous.
3) A visual treat for the cinema-goers
The teasers and trailers gives a feel of fresh and enticing plot which is surely going to be a good addition to the infancy stage of Pakistani film industry. There isn’t much we’ve seen of Balu Mahi but we are sure that the viewers are in for a visual treat with this masala dosed film. And those exotic scenic locations with amazing direction has got us even more excited!
4) Sahir Ali Bagga’s music
The songs of Balu Mahi are surely not to be missed, with every song having a different feel to it. Where one makes us groove to it, the other touches your heart and you can’t help but fall in love with it. The title track of Balu Mahi is a cool party song, Bechaniyan celebrates love and friendship in those beautiful scenes. Rang de chunar is a soothing to the ears and Tu Kya Jane is the heartbreak song in beautiful locations.
5) The rom-com genre
Romance is most of the time a key to a successful film and the central theme of Balu Mahi is love with a twist. It’s a youthful coming of age film which surely has lots of Pakistani feel to it specially those jokes in the trailer. So as we all know its an epic adventure film, the journey of love and self discovery and Sadaf’s there for all the troublesome!
6) Support the cinema
If there is one most important reason than that is to support Pakistani cinema. Pakistani cinema is trying to achieve the milestone which other industries did after years of trial, so the audiences should support their own cinema to expect more meaty films in future.
When we were younger, we always used to listen to stories of Kings and Queens and thought they only existed in books. But that isn’t the case, Monarchy exists in reality which has two types – one is partial with the help of a government and the other is absolute where the King makes all the decisions. Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy since the early 1900s. Salman bin Abdul Aziz is the King and prime minister of Saudi Arabia. His son Mohammad bin Salman serves as Crown Prince and the deputy prime minister of the country. While the monarchy is hereditary now, future Saudi kings will be chosen by a committee of Saudi princes, per a 2006 decree.
United Arab Emirates
United Arab Emirates is a federation of seven districts, while are ruled under hereditary monarchy. Khalifa bin Zayed is the Emir of UAE who has been in power since 2004. Although, the country is collectively ruled by Khalifa bin Zayed, the seven districts each have their own ruler. The royal family is said to hold a fortune of $150 billion.
Kuwait
The Kuwaiti royal family has been in power since early 1700s when the Anizah tribe appointed a member of Sabah family to be their ruler. Kuwait is the country with the most highest valued currency in the world. Sabah Ahmed al-Sabah has ruled Kuwait since 2006, due to luck on his side as the previous Emir died. While Sabah Ahmed al-Sabah was chosen to be Crown Prince, he luckily got to become Emir as the chosen Emir had an underlying illness which made him problematic to succeed.
Jordan
Jordan is a state which exercises constitutional monarchy which means the King or Queen hold limited powers with much of the decisions made under the government rule. King Abdullah II serves as King of Jordan and belongs to the Hashemite family who have ruled since 1921 while he has been in power since 1999. His family claim to be descendents of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) daughter Fatima. His son, Prince Hussein will be his successor as King.
United Kingdom
The United Kingdom is a unitary government state which is ruled under constitutional monarch. British monarchy came into being in 1066, with William the conqueror as the first King of England. The monarch of United Kingdom is Queen Elizabeth 2 who has been in power since 1952 making her the longest serving current head of state. She will be succeeded by her son Prince Charles.
The Netherlands
The Netherlands has been a constitutional monarchy since 1815. The country has a bicameral parliament, which means there are two chambers in the parliament who make collective decisions regarding the law. King Willem Alexander is the ruling king of The Netherlands who plays an important role as the president of the Council of State, an advisory body with roots in the 16th century. No law may be submitted to parliament unless it goes to the council first, which must be approved by the King.

Pakistani drama industry has been ruling the hearts of the viewers for decades. Pakistani dramas have a huge fanbase in India and those who have always loved the sound of beautiful Urdu language have always enjoyed watching Pakistani content. The popularity of Pakistani dramas is unparalleled because it elaborates the realities of life and struggles of regular people in such a manner that it makes it very easy for people to relate to what is being shown, irrespective of the sides of the border they are at.
The arts and cultural exchange is always good for countries because it easily shows people the societal norms and values of the country. It also promotes a different image of the country and allows people an insight into Pakistan and the lives of Pakistani people. Over the years, Pakistani drama-makers have succeeded in making a name for themselves, they have come up with one good script after another which has impressed the viewers and left an impact. Pakistani dramas are highly appreciated and widely watched all over Pakistan, but now with the ease of online uploads, the viewership has transcended the borders and citizens of India are always seen appreciating Pakistani dramas and content as well.
This puts a lot more responsibility on the shoulders of Pakistani writers and drama makers to come up with better and different subjects, concepts and stories in order to continue to impress the vast number of viewers who look forward to the quality content. Pakistani drama writers have proved their mettle by coming up with such scripts that are relevant to Pakistani dynamics, however over the years, there have also been some of those drama-makers who have resorted to an easy way out and have straight away copied the content from Bollywood movies to turn them into a Pakistani drama.
There are a handful of concepts which are tweaked in order to come up with a story, whereas the baseline remains the same. This is why at times some parts of different dramas and stories end up being similar to other dramas or movies. However, when everything ends up looking similar, it turns out to be a blatant case of copying and plagiarism. One fails to understand that at this stage where Pakistani drama industry is growing, making a name for itself and is touching new levels of success with each passing project, why do the drama-makers feel the need to copy or lift the ideas from Bollywood movies – that too which have been widely viewed by the vast majority of the Indian as well as Pakistani audiences.
Here are those Pakistani dramas which are inspired from Bollywood movies:
Noor ul Ain
Noor ul Ain aired in 2018 on ARY Digital. This drama was written by Edison Idrees Masih and it did not take the viewers a lot of time to figure out that the entire story, main theme as well as the characters were lifted from Bollywood’s superhit movie Saathiya, released in 2003. What shocked the Pakistani viewers the most were the big names that were associated with this project. Names like Sarmad Khoosat, Imran Abbas, Sajal Aly, Marina Khan – one failed to understand why did they all agree to do a project which was a copy of Bollywood movie Saathiya?
Saathiya’s story was different and relevant to the youngsters who fall hard in love, this is why it was a superhit movie of the time. The story of the movie was such that it was fit to be shown within the span of 2 – 3 hours but to turn it into a 24 week saga, with the character of Noor ul Ain as plain as ceiling and as emotionless as a rubber duck did not do the viewers any favor. The writer tried to give it a Pakistani drama touch by adding a character of negative chachi who brainfeeds Noor ul Ain to get married behind her parent’s back but that also did not cover up the fact that it was a copy. This is the reason this drama, despite the dream team, did not make an impact.
Dil Banjara
Dil Banjara was written by Faiza Iftikhar and aired on Hum TV in 2016. Dil Banjara’s entire story was a copy of Bollywood’s Blockbuster Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayeinge which was released in 1995. Story of a girl who belongs to a conservative background but goes on a trip abroad, meets a guy, falls in love with him despite being engaged and eventually after all the obstacles and hardships that stand in their way, she eventually gets married to him. The writer tried to add another angle by showing that the guy too had commitments to his cousin who loved him and got paralyzed in an accident but it was just a side track which did not conceal the striking resemblance of Dil Banjara’s story to Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayeinge.
Cheekh
Cheekh was written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah and aired on ARY Digital in 2019. Cheekh drama did well in terms of popularity in Pakistan but as the promos started releasing, it did not take people a lot of time to figure out that the story of this drama was lifted from Bollywood’s classic Damini which was released in 1993. Damini was a blockbuster movie of its time and left such an impact that the viewers still remembered it and knew the entire theme of Cheekh was copied.
It was a story of the struggles Damini goes through when she challenges the powerful and files a case charging their son of raping the member of the house staff. In Cheekh, the Pakistani version, it was a friend who wages a war against her brother in law for harassing and killing her best friend, although there was no rape case in this drama. Cheekh’s star cast ended up contributing a lot towards its success and the drama ended on a high note, but to this day, the fact remains that the story was not an original idea and was very much copied from Bollywood movies.
Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida
Mohabbat Tujhe Alivda has been written by Abdul Khaliq Khan and is going to air on Hum TV on June 15, 2020. Although this drama has not even started but the promos have been enough for the viewers to see that it is a blatant copy of Bollywood’s superhit movie Judaai which was released in 1997. Judaai was a star-studded movie with a very different theme where a wife makes a deal with a girl to get her married to her husband for a hefty amount of money.
Judaai has been widely watched and liked by both Indian and Pakistani audiences, therefore to come up with a dramatized version of the movie after so many years is still a bad idea. In the promos alone, it is evident that not only the story is a copy but Sonya Hussyn herself is trying to copy the antics of Sri Devi who played the role of Anil Kapoor’s first wife in Judaai. Mansha Pasha is playing the role of Urmila Matondkar and Zahid Ahmed of course is Anil Kapoor in this copied version of the story.
Izteraab
Izteraab drama was written by Amna Mufti and aired on Hum TV in 2014. It was a copy of Bollywood’s movie We Are Family which was released in 2010. The story of this drama revolves around a terminally ill mother of two and because of the current situation, the man of the house gets married so that the step mother can look after his children and family after the wife passes away. We Are Family itself was a copy of Hollywood movie Step mother but in that drama, the man introduces his girlfriend to the family. In Pakistani drama, the supposedly helpless man finds himself getting attracted to the young girl who cooks delicious food and gets married to her behind her wife’s back. Eventually things work out in his favor because the first wife gives in. The drama did not attain much popularity but got known for being a copy of a Bollywood movie.
Koi Nahi Apna
Koi Nahi Apna aired on ARY Digital in 2014. It was a story of an unhappy wife who eventually takes separation from her husband and leaves the daughter with the father. That’s when the entire angle of a single father kicks in. This entire concept of Koi Nahi Apna was a copy of Bollywood’s Akele Hum Akele Tum, which was released in 1995. The only difference was that in the drama, the couple had a girl, whereas in the Indian movie, Amir Khan takes care of his son single-handedly. The drama as well as the movie ends on the note of the couple reconciling and living happily ever after.

The “Big 3” (or 2 now that Geo is off the race) have promised to torture us beyond our tolerance level. This has reached a limit when even their avid followers have stopped watching their shows. They drag and stretch dramas, even those which have no story lines. I can’t choose to ignore them because I want my drama industry to flourish.
The list includes:
1. Mere Mehrbaan: From 7th Sky Entertainment, the director of Laa, Farooq Rind and writer of Ranjish Hi Sahi, Maha Malik, Mere Mehrbaan airs on Hum TV on Mondays. The story is regular, with two families_ one of Shaista and the other of Nayyara Begum. Shaista is the pure evil and Nayyara Begum is the pure good. Their daughters are exactly like them. Obviously, the good ones are facing all the problems in life and the evil ones are enjoying their lives. The problem is that the “problems” have been dragged so much that the drama doesn’t move an inch in a whole hour and it is stagnant. There are many OTT scenes and they are truly annoying. So Hum TV, please end this drama because it is unbearable now.
2. Arranged Marriage: This drama also airs on Mondays but on ARY entertainment. The story is about a girl Roshanay who plays with dolls or plays cricket most of the time. She gets married to Ahmed who is in love with someone else. Agha Ali is once again playing the role of a torturous husband who hates his wife (remember Rukhsar? ) Roshanay becomes the regular chup chaap girl after marriage. The drama is stagnant for now since the only scenes that take place are Ahmed threatening Roshanay to take divorce from him otherwise he will make her life a living hell. He hasn’t done anything other than threatening though . He has been doing it for like 8 episodes!!
3. Janam Jali: This show airs on Thursdays on Hum. It has nothing to offer accept a mother-in-law who wants grandsons only and could slaughter her daughter-in-laws if they don’t give birth to sons. The story has been stretched beyond compare and all the stereotypes have been thrown in. From annoying saas to shukki husband and harrassing behnois to sick and wailing children asking for their mothers and oh yes, second wife.
4. Mausam: On Fridays we see Shazia and Saman who are cousins. Shazia loves Hasir, the guy who fell in love with Saman at first sight (Saman doesn’t know anything about it) . Shazia’s jealousy compelled her to turn against Saman and to get her married to her own fiance’. Hashir tou hain hi majnu! He decides never to leave Saman. He tries to help her in every way but she keeps rejecting his help , unaware of his feelings. Her husband spots Hashir near her and this leads to misunderstandings after which he tortures her. The worst part is, Saman’s mother knows everything (thanks to her amazing eavesdropping skills) and chooses to remain silent. Hashir decides to sacrifice for Saman and purposes Shazia. Shazia is over the moon and can’t wait to get married. The reason I want it to end is, that the story is not engaging. Hum TV has given us blockbusters after blockbusters on Fridays and now……
5. Aahista Aahista: One man with two wives is struggling to live. He has just been caught with the second one by the first wife. Ever woman in the drama whether his mother, his sister or his wives love him so much that they just can’t hate him. The story is being dragged and should end now!
6. Adhura Milan: I can’t explain the story here. That’s because there are thousands of tracks in this drama. This explains the reason of it’s dragging but doesn’t explain the over-the-top scenes or the unskilled actors. There’s an over-aged man caught between 3, I repeat, 3 wives and his one and only love. His one and only love being tortured by her husband. A really long coma (taken from Indian dramas) . A person who wants to keep all the family wealth to herself. And so on. A-Plus please wrap up this drama quick!

One of Lahore’s iconic landmarks, the Badshahi Mosque was built in the Mughal area by Emperor Aurangzeb. It’s main exteriors and interiors use materials which include marble and red sandstone. The courtyard of the mosque can accomodate 100,000 worshippers.
Nasir Ol Molk Mosque, Iran
Nasir Ol Molk Mosque, also known as Pink Mosque is located in the city of Shiraz, Iran. The mosque was designed using many beautiful colored glass pieces on the front side of the building, which emits beautiful colors onto the large rugs whenever the sun is shining brightly onto the facade. The extensive usage of pink color tiles in the interior of the Mosque has given it the name of Pink Mosque.
Blue Mosque, Turkey
The Blue Mosque also known as Sultan Ahmed Mosque is one of Istanbul’s most famous attractions with its striking blue interior. Besides being a popular tourist attraction in Istanbul, the Mosque also serves as tomb of the founder, a madrasa and hospice with a capacity of 10,000 people.
Sheikh Zayed Mosque, United Arab Emirates
One of the world’s largest Mosques with a capacity of 40,000 visitors is the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque which is located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Due to the remote location of being further away, the beach is less crowded and much cleaner than others. It does not have any huts which means you can only spend about half the day there for a serene and comfortable break from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can also take a boat from the nearby village to Churna Island where you can enjoy sports activities such as snorkeling and scuba diving.
Nathia Gali Beach (Karachi)
Nathia Gali beach has been named after the famous hill station of Nathia Gali. What makes this beach different from others is that it has a restricted access as it is a naval base and touches the last point on the coastline of the city. You can only visit this beach if you have connections with someone from the armed forces and also be accompanied by them. If you can’t do that, sadly you won’t be allowed to enter. Neerja follows the story of brave flight attendant Neerja Bhanot. Neerja Bhanot sacrificed her life at the tender age of 22 trying to save the lives of passengers and crew members on a hijacked plane. Sonam Kapoor brilliantly essays the role of this heroic woman who saved many lives. Neerja posthumously received the Ashoka Chakra Award, Tamgha E Pakistan, Flight Safety Foundation Heroism Award and many others.
Dangal
One of Bollywood’s most sought out biopics, Dangal is a sports biopic on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two daughters, Geeta and Babita. Mahavir trains them to become professional wrestlers who go on to win gold for India at the Commonwealth games. They are also the first female wrestlers to excel and win in this sport. Dangal went on to become India’s highest grossing film worldwide.

4. Ruqayya in Pyaray Afzal (Played by Saba Hameed): I cannot find enough words to describe this character. Her utmost care for her son Afzal makes us feel as if she is a real person, not just a character in a tv show. The happiness on her face when she talked to his fiance showed how much she values everyone in his life.
5. Husna in Aunn Zaara (Played by Hina Khwaja Byat): She pampered her only son Aunn in every way she could. He did get annoyed with her from time to time but her care for Aunn was unforgettable.
6. Bilquees in Bilquees Kaur (Played by Bushra Ansari): Throughout the show I believed she was some regular evil mother-in-law but in the end, it was revealed how she had taken care of her children and earned for them. Her husband did nothing but rest in the house all day. She worked hard for the sake of her children. I was surprised at how much her son had misunderstood her.
It is more than a dilemma that there is hardly any local content left that can be associated with the children of the nation where we see no dedicated programs or channels that work on child grooming and skill motivation for the young souls who, as a result of this seek interest in foreign content and follow Indian talent hunt shows and movies.
It is not only in India that special projects are been rendered to this specific age group of viewers but the trend is more like a need in west. It was recently a creative idea of Burka Avengers but again it too failed to attract a pretty huge audience probably because of the lack of promotions been done by the channel itself.
Much to our delight, a non-profit organization The Little Art (TLA) is working on Children’s cinema and for that it will soon be holding an international children’s film festival in Lahore from 16th to 21st September, 2013.
This 6-day festival is being held at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore in collaboration of Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, Government of Punjab.
The significance of this film festival is the fact that the movies been chosen for the festival highlight the problems faced by children in general. The researchers claim that the idea of spreading awareness and learning through the visual arts among the children is a great way to enhance the capabilities of the children in different domains.
The Little Art (TLA) has also announced a national art competition named ArtBeat. Festival director, Shoaib Iqbal told in an interview:
“ArtBeat is a visual arts project to raise awareness about identity, rights, and social justice among children and youth.”
With the theme “Me/My Rights”, the competition aims at providing children with a platform to express their inner feelings. Children and youngsters of 3-18 years of age from all over Pakistan submitted their work early this year. The winners will be given 30 different prizes and TLA has announced to fully sponsor two brilliant artists for Sharjah International Biennial for Children’s Arts.
TLA has done a great deal of work in motivating the children grooming through quality films and this would be its 5th major move in the said domain.
Pakistan’s leading entertainment channel, HUM TV presents awards to recognize the excellence in the fields of entertainment, fashion and glamour. It was first launched in 2013 and since then it is coming back every year. HUM Awards has established itself as one of the country’s biggest and glamorous award shows. Every year it touches the new heights of success and achieve new milestone.
HUM TV recognizes it’s dramas by presenting awards in different categories but in fashion and music, Hum honor all the artists from the country. This time the channel claims that they have broaden their horizon and the 5th Hum Awards have acknowledged and celebrated entertainment, fashion, glamour, arts, and media icons of Pakistan’s film, fashion, media, glamour, sports, and entertainment industry. We hope the upcoming Hum Awards will be unique, elegant and grand as ever.
5th Hum Awards will telecast on 22nd July, Saturday. The Red Carpet event will broadcast at 7:00 PM & Main Event at 7:30 PM on Hum TV. Lets have few glimpses of the upcoming award show.
This year the 5th HUM awards were held in Lahore and this particular aspect was highlighted on the red carpet as well. All the celebrities shared how they felt about being in Lahore for the awards on the red carpet. Like all the previous years, the award show was grand and lively but there were also some features of the show which continue to disappoint year after year, especially those of us who look forward to a more “Pakistani” (more original) touch to these awards. Overall however, the entire show was a true reflection of the spirit behind this award show.
I think it is only fair to discuss different aspects of the show individually, in order to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the show. I am going to discuss the function and will not be talking about the nominations and whether the winners deserved the awards or not.
The Hosts
If I had to sum up the way the HUM Awards were hosted by most of the hosts in two words then those words would be energetic and loud. Mikaal Zulfiqar and Hareem Farooque were the first ones to host the ceremony, while Hareem Farooque was relatively spontaneous and at times not very impressive, Mikaal Zulfiqar was energetic but at the same time a little too loud. He was shouting at the top of his voice and not really talking to the audience. Overall however, Mikaal looked great and his energy added more life to the show.
Nadia Khan’s hosting in the the HUM Awards was toned down but she was too busy reading from her notes and there was very little eye contact with the audience. The political jokes didn’t really fit in either.
Unlike last year’s HUM awards, Sanam Jung’s hosting was right on point this time around. She looked pretty and was very comfortable on stage. Although this was the first time that Ali Rehman hosted such an event but he did really well, he was more natural and confident than many other celebrities who hosted for the first time in the previous two years. Also, it was good to see some new faces on the stage this time.
The Stage And The Script
HUM’s award show’s stage is always vibrant and grand, the best thing about it is the way everything that happens in the background is handled, from the screens showing pictures, images and even text which goes so well with whatever is happening on the stage to changing the entire background completely, it is always a job well done. The person in charge of the stage definitely did their job faultlessly this time around too without missing out on minute details which add to the beauty of watching the award show because the stage is the center of attention throughout. I truly appreciate the hard work put into making this entire experience not only visually pleasing but also a work of art.
The script in general was alright, there wasn’t a lot of novelty in the jokes or the skits. Like most of the award shows, the jokes revolved around TRPs and of course Humayun Saeed! I felt like Humayun Saeed himself is bored with these jokes! Yasir Hussain’s Pathan act seemed repetitive especially after watching Shadi Mubarak Ho. Some of his jokes however were hilarious and the best part of his act was that for a change he focused on also those actors who were not sitting in the front row. His joke with Saife Hassan was especially funny and original too because usually such jokes are directed towards the actors and singers.
One thing HUM excels at is paying tribute to legends in their award shows. They do not only give an award but they do so in a way which shows that they mean it! Farida Khanum deserved all the love and respect she received from the crowd, hosts and the director. Reema Khan was the perfect choice for presenting the award because only someone with good command on Urdu language could have done justice to paying tribute to such a legend.
There were plenty of “bright karein” jokes during the ceremony and it was really funny watching Ayesha Sana “own” these jokes. It takes a lot of courage to turn something like this into an advantage but Ayesha Sana has done just that!
The Crowd And The Camera Work
The crowd was one of the best aspects of this show because the way everyone cheered for the winners, laughed at the jokes, got emotional when there were tributes and most importantly enjoyed the show as a whole made each one of these people look like a big team instead of competitors. The reactions of the crowd were captured really well too by the camera men and edited perfectly too. Also, the focus wasn’t just on few celebrities in the crowd.
The Performances
Personally, performances which are hugely inspired by Bollywood aren’t my favorite part of an award show which should be reflective of our own entertainment industry but at least this year the songs were from our own films. The opening performance was similar to the ones we have seen in the previous years too, the costumes and the dance both had nothing new to offer.
The most shocking part however was Shahroz Sabzwari and Sarish Khan’s performance because I wasn’t expecting HUM to endorse their upcoming film. Apart from this, the outfits, performances and especially the song Sarish danced on was substandard.
Mehwish Hayat’s performance was shown in the promos several times therefore I expected more from it. There wasn’t enough energy in her performance and you would expect HUM to work harder on the dresses which all of these celebrities wore during performances.
Kubra Khan and Ahsan Khan’s dresses and performances were better than the rest but Reema Khan’s dance performance however was the best since it was a true depiction of her talent, it was graceful and she was the only one who wore a classy outfit while performing.
Watching Sajjad Ali perform on stage was like a dream come true and that dream became a beautiful reality because of the fact that this entire performance was so well rehearsed and well put together. Even now Sajjad Ali has the same presence and is still at the top of his game even though he isn’t seen performing on television or shows any more. The youngsters Momina Mustehsan, Asim Azhar and Ali Sethi sang really well too. Ali Sethi and Asim Azhar however were more lively and confident on stage, Momina Mustehsan’s dress got in her way a lot of time, she appeared to be uncomfortable and distracted.
The tribute to Junaid Jamshed was sweet because all those people who were really close to Junaid Jamshed were a part of it but at the same time I was disappointed because I was expecting all the songs to be the ones which were sung by Junaid Jamshed.
Overall, this year the HUM awards were really well put together and had some unforgettable performances to its credit but just like every year there was a lot of emphasis on English language because of which even some of the celebrities who did not feel comfortable speaking English felt they “had” to give their thank you speeches in English. I especially liked the way Sania Saeed accepted her award and her thank you speech. Also, the manner in which Zebu of Udaari was appreciated by Ahsan Khan and the confidence with which she shared how she felt about her experience was endearing.

Beautiful Shab-e-Barat Images of 2020 – Shaban is a special month for the Muslims all across the globe. It is in Shaban that the Shab-e-Barat falls. This month is considered sacred by Muslims. Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to fast a lot in this month. Sometimes he used to fast the entire month of Shaban even before Ramazan started.
Shab-e-Barat is the night of forgiveness. Those who are awake and worshipping are forgiven except for the disbeliever, hater, arrogant, someone who is disobedient to parents and alcohol addicts. Shab-e-Barat begins after Maghrib in the evening of mid Shaban.
Ali ibn Abi Talib [May Allah be pleased with him] reports that the Prophet [Peace be upon him] is reported to have said: “The night of mid-Shaban, let all of you spend in prayer and its day in fasting, for Allah descends to the nearest heaven during that night beginning with sunset and says: ‘Is there no one asking sustenance that I may forgive them? Is there no one asking sustenance that I may grant them sustenance? Is there no one under duress that I may relieve them? Is there not such-and-such, is there not such-and-such, a so forth until dawn rises”
Shab-e-Barat is the golden opportunity for Muslims to beg for forgiveness for their sins. They repent for their sins on this blessed night and fast the next day. Also, they can ask for fortunes and health, The Almighty has promised to bless them with the best. All around the world, the mosques are decorated beautifully for this blessed night. Apart from that, some people lit vigils and others gather in mosques to pray together.
The most authentic Hadith about Shab-e-Barat is as follows, ” “When it is the fifteenth night of Shaban observe prayer during the night and observe fast during the day; for Allah descends to the heaven of the world as the sun sets and says: Is there anyone to seek forgiveness so that I should forgive him? Is there anyone to seek sustenance so that I should provide him? Is there anyone in trouble so that I may relieve him? And so on and so forth, until the dawn breaks.” (Ibn Majah)
Some people also visit the graves of the loved ones who are no longer with them. Since Shab-e-Barat is the blessed night when people also ask for forgiveness for those who have left the world. Since the Islamic calendar is determined by the moon, the date of Shab e Barat changes every year.
Fireworks and distributing sweets among neighbors and children is also a common practice on this blessed day. It is also seen as the night when the fortunes of the people for the next year are decided.

i1950’s filmstar Sheila Ramani passed away on 15th July 2015 in India. Sheila was a Parsi born in Sindh in British India. After the partition in 1947, Sheila migrated to India and worked in many Indian films including Taxi Driver (1954) and Surang (1953).
As an Indian citizen, in 1956 Sheila visited Pakistan to work in few Urdu and Sindhi films produced in Karachi on the request of her Uncle residing in Karachi. Among them Anokhi (1956) is still remembered for its melodious song of Garri Ko Chalana Baabu (گاڑی کو چلانا بابو).
