Hawke’s Bay Beach (Karachi)
Hawke’s Bay Beach located in Karachi is an excellent choice for a day trip as it is about 20 km south-west of the city. One can visit the beach for swimming, camel or horse riding or just relaxing.
Sandspit Beach (Karachi)
Sandspit Beach is another beautiful location of relaxing, unwinding and spending a day with the family. This serene beach is located south-west of Karachi and is best known for it’s rocky formation and variety of marine life. Huts are being constructed in Sandspit Beach which will provide privacy and ample time to relax throughout the day.
French Beach (Karachi)
One of Karachi’s popular sandy areas, French Beach is located about 10 km south-west of the city. The beach is well known to be visited by the city’s elite and also offers about 95 huts which can be rented for parties, birthdays and about any other event. While on the beach, one can also go for snorkeling and scuba diving , although you need to bring your own equipment for the adventure sports. Food and beverages need to be brought by you as well if you want to picnic during the day.
Cape Mount Beach (Karachi)
In reality, Cape Mount is actually a headland which needs to be passed by various beaches such as Sandspit, Hawke’s Bay, French Beach and the likes. Due to the remote location of being further away, the beach is less crowded and much cleaner than others. It does not have any huts which means you can only spend about half the day there for a serene and comfortable break from the hustle and bustle of the city. You can also take a boat from the nearby village to Churna Island where you can enjoy sports activities such as snorkeling and scuba diving.
Nathia Gali Beach (Karachi)
Nathia Gali beach has been named after the famous hill station of Nathia Gali. What makes this beach different from others is that it has a restricted access as it is a naval base and touches the last point on the coastline of the city. You can only visit this beach if you have connections with someone from the armed forces and also be accompanied by them. If you can’t do that, sadly you won’t be allowed to enter. Booking needs to be made in advance by the host if they want to take their guests with them. One can enjoy BBQ on this clean and glorious private beach.
West Bay Beach (Gwadar)
A beautiful gem which is accessible after driving for 45 kms from Gwadar, the West Bay Beach looks no less than a foreign locality. The marine life and scenery is a sight for sore eyes at this beautiful sandy beach with clear waters.

Will Smith played the title role of Muhammad Ali in the film and was praised widely for his performance.
Gandhi
India’s most important political figure Gandhi led many a struggles for his country to save them from the white culture through non violence. His biopic in which Ben Kingsley played the titular role depicts his journey to achieve a peace loving nation followed by his untimely assassination. The film also shows how tolerant and embracing Gandhi was towards other faiths including Christianity and Islam. The biopic went on to win eight Academy Awards.
Jinnah
Pakistan’s beloved founder Muhammad Ali Jinnah put his heart, blood and sweat to get a separate nation for Muslims because he believed Muslims and Hindus could not live together in harmony. Christopher Lee convincingly plays the titular role of Muhammad Ali Jinnah. It is considered one of his best works and has left many spell bound. Jinnah follows the life of the father of the nation, his wife and child and his political struggle for achieving a separate nation. The film has been showcased at the prestigious British Film Institute.
Neerja
Neerja follows the story of brave flight attendant Neerja Bhanot. Neerja Bhanot sacrificed her life at the tender age of 22 trying to save the lives of passengers and crew members on a hijacked plane. Sonam Kapoor brilliantly essays the role of this heroic woman who saved many lives. Neerja posthumously received the Ashoka Chakra Award, Tamgha E Pakistan, Flight Safety Foundation Heroism Award and many others.
Dangal
One of Bollywood’s most sought out biopics, Dangal is a sports biopic on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two daughters, Geeta and Babita. Mahavir trains them to become professional wrestlers who go on to win gold for India at the Commonwealth games. They are also the first female wrestlers to excel and win in this sport. Dangal went on to become India’s highest grossing film worldwide.
Being a mother means unconditional love and support for your child. It means sacrifices_ a lot of them too. A mother’s mistakes could reflect badly on her children. It is a beautiful yet challenging duty which requires a lot of hard work.

1. Saliha in Dastaan (Played by Samina Peerzada): She bore great difficulties alongside her daughter Bano, after the partition of Pakistan and India. Those difficulties made every viewer weep and respect their homeland.
2. Amna in Daam (Played by Lubna Aslam): She was a woman left alone by her own brother. She had a husband who did nothing all day but ask for money from her and waste it. Yet, she supported her children. The results were Zaara becoming a doctor, Aasma settled with her husband and her son as a famous director.
3. Rafia in Zindagi Gulzar Hai (Played by Samina Peerzada): Scorned by her women for giving birth to three daughters, this woman decided never to let her daughters falter in any aspect of life. Her support for them and her belief in them, played a vital role in their success, especially Kashaf.
4. Ruqayya in Pyaray Afzal (Played by Saba Hameed): I cannot find enough words to describe this character. Her utmost care for her son Afzal makes us feel as if she is a real person, not just a character in a tv show. The happiness on her face when she talked to his fiance showed how much she values everyone in his life.
5. Husna in Aunn Zaara (Played by Hina Khwaja Byat): She pampered her only son Aunn in every way she could. He did get annoyed with her from time to time but her care for Aunn was unforgettable.
6. Bilquees in Bilquees Kaur (Played by Bushra Ansari): Throughout the show I believed she was some regular evil mother-in-law but in the end, it was revealed how she had taken care of her children and earned for them. Her husband did nothing but rest in the house all day. She worked hard for the sake of her children. I was surprised at how much her son had misunderstood her.
It is more than a dilemma that there is hardly any local content left that can be associated with the children of the nation where we see no dedicated programs or channels that work on child grooming and skill motivation for the young souls who, as a result of this seek interest in foreign content and follow Indian talent hunt shows and movies.
It is not only in India that special projects are been rendered to this specific age group of viewers but the trend is more like a need in west. It was recently a creative idea of Burka Avengers but again it too failed to attract a pretty huge audience probably because of the lack of promotions been done by the channel itself.
Much to our delight, a non-profit organization The Little Art (TLA) is working on Children’s cinema and for that it will soon be holding an international children’s film festival in Lahore from 16th to 21st September, 2013.
This 6-day festival is being held at Alhamra Cultural Complex, Qaddafi Stadium in Lahore in collaboration of Ministry of Culture and Youth Affairs, Government of Punjab.
The significance of this film festival is the fact that the movies been chosen for the festival highlight the problems faced by children in general. The researchers claim that the idea of spreading awareness and learning through the visual arts among the children is a great way to enhance the capabilities of the children in different domains.
The Little Art (TLA) has also announced a national art competition named ArtBeat. Festival director, Shoaib Iqbal told in an interview:
“ArtBeat is a visual arts project to raise awareness about identity, rights, and social justice among children and youth.”
With the theme “Me/My Rights”, the competition aims at providing children with a platform to express their inner feelings. Children and youngsters of 3-18 years of age from all over Pakistan submitted their work early this year. The winners will be given 30 different prizes and TLA has announced to fully sponsor two brilliant artists for Sharjah International Biennial for Children’s Arts.
TLA has done a great deal of work in motivating the children grooming through quality films and this would be its 5th major move in the said domain.
Pakistan’s leading entertainment channel, HUM TV presents awards to recognize the excellence in the fields of entertainment, fashion and glamour. It was first launched in 2013 and since then it is coming back every year. HUM Awards has established itself as one of the country’s biggest and glamorous award shows. Every year it touches the new heights of success and achieve new milestone.
HUM TV recognizes it’s dramas by presenting awards in different categories but in fashion and music, Hum honor all the artists from the country. This time the channel claims that they have broaden their horizon and the 5th Hum Awards have acknowledged and celebrated entertainment, fashion, glamour, arts, and media icons of Pakistan’s film, fashion, media, glamour, sports, and entertainment industry. We hope the upcoming Hum Awards will be unique, elegant and grand as ever.
5th Hum Awards will telecast on 22nd July, Saturday. The Red Carpet event will broadcast at 7:00 PM & Main Event at 7:30 PM on Hum TV. Lets have few glimpses of the upcoming award show.
This year the 5th HUM awards were held in Lahore and this particular aspect was highlighted on the red carpet as well. All the celebrities shared how they felt about being in Lahore for the awards on the red carpet. Like all the previous years, the award show was grand and lively but there were also some features of the show which continue to disappoint year after year, especially those of us who look forward to a more “Pakistani” (more original) touch to these awards. Overall however, the entire show was a true reflection of the spirit behind this award show.
I think it is only fair to discuss different aspects of the show individually, in order to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the show. I am going to discuss the function and will not be talking about the nominations and whether the winners deserved the awards or not.
The Hosts
If I had to sum up the way the HUM Awards were hosted by most of the hosts in two words then those words would be energetic and loud. Mikaal Zulfiqar and Hareem Farooque were the first ones to host the ceremony, while Hareem Farooque was relatively spontaneous and at times not very impressive, Mikaal Zulfiqar was energetic but at the same time a little too loud. He was shouting at the top of his voice and not really talking to the audience. Overall however, Mikaal looked great and his energy added more life to the show.
Nadia Khan’s hosting in the the HUM Awards was toned down but she was too busy reading from her notes and there was very little eye contact with the audience. The political jokes didn’t really fit in either.
Unlike last year’s HUM awards, Sanam Jung’s hosting was right on point this time around. She looked pretty and was very comfortable on stage. Although this was the first time that Ali Rehman hosted such an event but he did really well, he was more natural and confident than many other celebrities who hosted for the first time in the previous two years. Also, it was good to see some new faces on the stage this time.
The Stage And The Script
HUM’s award show’s stage is always vibrant and grand, the best thing about it is the way everything that happens in the background is handled, from the screens showing pictures, images and even text which goes so well with whatever is happening on the stage to changing the entire background completely, it is always a job well done. The person in charge of the stage definitely did their job faultlessly this time around too without missing out on minute details which add to the beauty of watching the award show because the stage is the center of attention throughout. I truly appreciate the hard work put into making this entire experience not only visually pleasing but also a work of art.
The script in general was alright, there wasn’t a lot of novelty in the jokes or the skits. Like most of the award shows, the jokes revolved around TRPs and of course Humayun Saeed! I felt like Humayun Saeed himself is bored with these jokes! Yasir Hussain’s Pathan act seemed repetitive especially after watching Shadi Mubarak Ho. Some of his jokes however were hilarious and the best part of his act was that for a change he focused on also those actors who were not sitting in the front row. His joke with Saife Hassan was especially funny and original too because usually such jokes are directed towards the actors and singers.
One thing HUM excels at is paying tribute to legends in their award shows. They do not only give an award but they do so in a way which shows that they mean it! Farida Khanum deserved all the love and respect she received from the crowd, hosts and the director. Reema Khan was the perfect choice for presenting the award because only someone with good command on Urdu language could have done justice to paying tribute to such a legend.
There were plenty of “bright karein” jokes during the ceremony and it was really funny watching Ayesha Sana “own” these jokes. It takes a lot of courage to turn something like this into an advantage but Ayesha Sana has done just that!
The Crowd And The Camera Work
The crowd was one of the best aspects of this show because the way everyone cheered for the winners, laughed at the jokes, got emotional when there were tributes and most importantly enjoyed the show as a whole made each one of these people look like a big team instead of competitors. The reactions of the crowd were captured really well too by the camera men and edited perfectly too. Also, the focus wasn’t just on few celebrities in the crowd.
The Performances
Personally, performances which are hugely inspired by Bollywood aren’t my favorite part of an award show which should be reflective of our own entertainment industry but at least this year the songs were from our own films. The opening performance was similar to the ones we have seen in the previous years too, the costumes and the dance both had nothing new to offer.
The most shocking part however was Shahroz Sabzwari and Sarish Khan’s performance because I wasn’t expecting HUM to endorse their upcoming film. Apart from this, the outfits, performances and especially the song Sarish danced on was substandard.
Mehwish Hayat’s performance was shown in the promos several times therefore I expected more from it. There wasn’t enough energy in her performance and you would expect HUM to work harder on the dresses which all of these celebrities wore during performances.
Kubra Khan and Ahsan Khan’s dresses and performances were better than the rest but Reema Khan’s dance performance however was the best since it was a true depiction of her talent, it was graceful and she was the only one who wore a classy outfit while performing.
Watching Sajjad Ali perform on stage was like a dream come true and that dream became a beautiful reality because of the fact that this entire performance was so well rehearsed and well put together. Even now Sajjad Ali has the same presence and is still at the top of his game even though he isn’t seen performing on television or shows any more. The youngsters Momina Mustehsan, Asim Azhar and Ali Sethi sang really well too. Ali Sethi and Asim Azhar however were more lively and confident on stage, Momina Mustehsan’s dress got in her way a lot of time, she appeared to be uncomfortable and distracted.
The tribute to Junaid Jamshed was sweet because all those people who were really close to Junaid Jamshed were a part of it but at the same time I was disappointed because I was expecting all the songs to be the ones which were sung by Junaid Jamshed.
Overall, this year the HUM awards were really well put together and had some unforgettable performances to its credit but just like every year there was a lot of emphasis on English language because of which even some of the celebrities who did not feel comfortable speaking English felt they “had” to give their thank you speeches in English. I especially liked the way Sania Saeed accepted her award and her thank you speech. Also, the manner in which Zebu of Udaari was appreciated by Ahsan Khan and the confidence with which she shared how she felt about her experience was endearing.

Beautiful Shab-e-Barat Images of 2020 – Shaban is a special month for the Muslims all across the globe. It is in Shaban that the Shab-e-Barat falls. This month is considered sacred by Muslims. Holy Prophet (PBUH) used to fast a lot in this month. Sometimes he used to fast the entire month of Shaban even before Ramazan started.
Shab-e-Barat is the night of forgiveness. Those who are awake and worshipping are forgiven except for the disbeliever, hater, arrogant, someone who is disobedient to parents and alcohol addicts. Shab-e-Barat begins after Maghrib in the evening of mid Shaban.
Ali ibn Abi Talib [May Allah be pleased with him] reports that the Prophet [Peace be upon him] is reported to have said: “The night of mid-Shaban, let all of you spend in prayer and its day in fasting, for Allah descends to the nearest heaven during that night beginning with sunset and says: ‘Is there no one asking sustenance that I may forgive them? Is there no one asking sustenance that I may grant them sustenance? Is there no one under duress that I may relieve them? Is there not such-and-such, is there not such-and-such, a so forth until dawn rises”
Shab-e-Barat is the golden opportunity for Muslims to beg for forgiveness for their sins. They repent for their sins on this blessed night and fast the next day. Also, they can ask for fortunes and health, The Almighty has promised to bless them with the best. All around the world, the mosques are decorated beautifully for this blessed night. Apart from that, some people lit vigils and others gather in mosques to pray together.
The most authentic Hadith about Shab-e-Barat is as follows, ” “When it is the fifteenth night of Shaban observe prayer during the night and observe fast during the day; for Allah descends to the heaven of the world as the sun sets and says: Is there anyone to seek forgiveness so that I should forgive him? Is there anyone to seek sustenance so that I should provide him? Is there anyone in trouble so that I may relieve him? And so on and so forth, until the dawn breaks.” (Ibn Majah)
Some people also visit the graves of the loved ones who are no longer with them. Since Shab-e-Barat is the blessed night when people also ask for forgiveness for those who have left the world. Since the Islamic calendar is determined by the moon, the date of Shab e Barat changes every year.
Fireworks and distributing sweets among neighbors and children is also a common practice on this blessed day. It is also seen as the night when the fortunes of the people for the next year are decided.

i1950’s filmstar Sheila Ramani passed away on 15th July 2015 in India. Sheila was a Parsi born in Sindh in British India. After the partition in 1947, Sheila migrated to India and worked in many Indian films including Taxi Driver (1954) and Surang (1953).
As an Indian citizen, in 1956 Sheila visited Pakistan to work in few Urdu and Sindhi films produced in Karachi on the request of her Uncle residing in Karachi. Among them Anokhi (1956) is still remembered for its melodious song of Garri Ko Chalana Baabu (گاڑی کو چلانا بابو).

Sometimes, the drama makers impart great messages through these dramas, which in a way is their attempt to bring awareness to the people and educate them. Pakistani drama industry has given its viewers some unforgettable dramas and the trend continues till date. Every year, we get to see some amazing dramas which not only end up being mega hits but also stay with the viewers for a long time.
Nowadays with the drama industry producing more dramas than ever before, we see channels competing with each other. It has now come to a point where the quality is being compromised due to quantity. Mein Na Janoo
Writer: Noora Makhdoom Director: Furqaan Khan Channel: Hum TV Cast: Sanam Jung, Zahid Ahmed, Affan Waheed, Komal Aziz Khan, Wasim Abbas, Huma Nawab, Sangeeta and others.
When Sanam Jung announced it to be her come back drama, her fans were excited. Another intriguing part of this drama which was promoted heavily was the character of a visually impaired man, played by Zahid Ahmed. Main Na Janoo is a perfect case of expectations gone wrong. It is just a story of a woman Farah, who has been wrongly accused and due to that accusation, Farah and her daughter Saira have always been mistreated. Farah’s husband gets married again and has a daughter with his evil second wife. It is a sickening story of family politics and forced marriages. Saira’s cousin Nihaad loves her to an extent that he is obsessed with her and now when she has gotten married to Nain, Nihaad refuses to mind her own business. If this wasn’t enough, another reason why we feel this is the worst drama is the way Nain has been constantly taunted about being ‘andha’, not once, not twice, repeatedly. The only good thing about this drama is the fact that Nain is shown to be a confident, self-assured and independent man but people around him are mentally impaired, that is why they constantly remind him of the fact that he can not see. Sanam Jung shows clear signs of good-actor-turned-host-turned-bad-actor because her caterwauling and screeching sort of cries and dialogue delivery is nothing less than a pain to endure. Affan Waheed tried to experiment by opting for a negative character but he should stick to the Do Bol kind of characters because he can do justice to them.

If you are confused whether you are rewatching Koi Chand Rakh, you’re not alone. Thora Sa Haq has striking similarities with Koi Chand Rakh. Ayeza Khan Imran Abbas pair being one. Imran Abbas getting married to someone because his father made a promise being the second. His unwanted wife is the best woman to have walked the face of the earth being third. Currently, his second wife in Thora Sa Haq has not gone the evil route like the one in Koi Chand Rakh did, but you never know what the future holds because her mother definitely has those germs. It is amusing seeing an actor of Imran Abbas’s stature opting for majboor becharay roles, where he can not fend for himself and ends up being a victim of forced marriages. Ayeza Khan must have signed Thora Sa Haq immediately after Mere Pass Tum Ho, to soften her image in the eyes of her viewers because in every episode, she gets slapped casually, like it is her dose of antibiotics. It is also amusing that Zamin being the culprit has not been held responsible. Zamin tried to make things right just before he was about to say Qabool Hai the second time, but then his second wife to be went ahead with the marriage only to later tell her mother to shift her back to her room! RIP Logic. Oh, just when you thought you’ve cringed enough, there’s this character of Hareem’s cousin who has absolutely no life of his own. He only keeps tabs on Zamin and records the time when Zamin goes to Seher’s room past midnight. This unwanted cousin wants to get married to Seher but has been bhai-zoned a million times, but still fails to get the hint. As if his character wasn’t bad, his makeup is worst. Imran Abbas is guilty of worst makeup yet again in Thora Sa Haq.

This was one such drama which started on a good and different note. It had a lot of tracks and we thought we were signing up for an interesting drama but they didn’t fail to disappoint us immediately. The story of this drama fails to move forward. Sitara Begum’s family is struggling to make ends meet and it continues to be that way. Nagina fails to age and has been a background dancer in the movies all her life. Gaitiara’s character played by Sarah Khan has no purpose whatsoever, other than looking pretty and wearing heavy makeup and clothes. Dildar Begum and his daughters continue to plot against Sitara Begum’s family but no one confronts them – Nagina does but doesn’t make any different. Islam and Izhar ended up being brothers from different mothers, probably after the 20th episode passed. Khayyam’s character has shown zero growth and development, even after he has left his grandmother’s place and is fending for himself. Zoya mourns her breakup but there’s absolutely nothing that the viewers feel for her. This drama is a hot mess. As if it wasn’t enough, it is so obvious that they have now started introducing more and more characters to drag it further – as if people were crazy about this drama and didn’t want it to end. 30 episodes of Deewar e Shab have gone on air and we are still wondering what the purpose of this baseless drama is?
Dar Khuda Se
Writer: Sarwat Nazeer Director: Anjum Shehzaad Channel: Geo Entertainment Cast: Imran Abbas, Sana Javed, Kiran Haq, Qavi Khan, Sajida Syed, Ali Ansari and others.
It is unfortunate that a drama which has been written by Sarwat Nazeer ends up in this list due to poor execution and slower-than-a-turtle pace. The story of Dar Khuda Se is moving around in circles and fails to move forward. It highlighted the issue of workplace harassment but in the end, the damsel in distress ended up bearing all the laan taans and tanas because no one chose to believe her version of the story. She got blackmailed with the photoshopped images and the harasser boss ended up becoming her elder sister’s husband. Imran Abbas has surely acted well in Dar Khuda Se but that’s all there’s to it. Dar Khuda Se has also touched the 30 episode mark proudly but the story doesn’t seem to have any purpose. The set of parents shown in this drama are also cringe worthy who fail to trust their daughters and just treat them as a liability, that too when their two kamaoo-poot sons have more or less disowned them!
Kahin Deep Jalay
Writer: Qaisera Hayat Director: Saima Waseem Channel: Geo Entertainment Cast: Imran Ashraf, Neelam Munir, Nazish Jahangir, Ali Abbas, Saba Faisal, Saba Hameed and others.
Heavily inspired by Balaa, Kahin Deep Jalay is all about evil bhabhi who has already exposed her reality on her mother and sister in law but they being too simple minded fail to call a spade a spade. Shameela is full of inferiority complexes and is someone who only sees the negatives in simplest of situations, therefore she twists everything according to her perspective and no one bats an eyelid. Shameela’s mother in law, who also happens to be her khala has more or less understood the kind of game Shameela is playing but she chooses to stay silent, for reasons best known to her. She also saw Shameela igniting a fight between her two younger sons but chose not to clarify the situation. The writer has very much tried to hold Shameela responsible for everything but all those who choose to stay silent to her atrocities are equally in fact more responsible for everything that is happening. Imran Ashraf and Neelam Munir’s track started off on an unrealistically sweet note that it gave us a toothache but we’re still trying to cope. However, Imran Ashraf’s sweet character has turned sour because now the social status difference between him and his wife is making his restless – which was something Zeeshan was totally aware of before he decided to get married to Rida and was having sleepless nights wondering if she will say yes to his proposal. The minminmin Zeeshan does is cringe++, we’re hoping just as much as the drama picks up the pace, he adjusts his playback speed to 1.5 (youtube settings) too.

It cannot be denied that gender discrimination is a widespread human rights issue in Pakistan that is badly affecting a large number of women in the country. Mujhay Beta Chahiye also highlights this issue and depicts how educated people like Salman, played by Shahood Alvi, also sometimes have this mindset where they consider the birth of a baby boy as something to feel lucky about in contrast to that of a baby girl.
2. It demonstrates to what extent, moral or immoral, men can go to for a son
Salman, in his desire to have a male child, neglects his daughters and family and makes advances towards another girl. He does not care about his newborn daughter who is sick and needs immediate medical attention, nor does he feel any remorse or grief when the baby dies due to his negligence.
3. It portrays a regressive mentality where people are ready to take advantage of other people’s weaknesses
Jahan Ara leaves no chance at gaining Salman’s attention as soon as she sees him distancing himself from his wife after the birth of their third daughter. She promises him a male child if he decides to choose her, even though none of it can be in her hands. It is a reality of our society where it’s not just the mindset of the couple that breaks up marriages, but the rest of the society also leaves no stone unturned in causing more problems for their own benefit.
4. It depicts how women who give birth to daughters are looked down upon
Another aspect it shows is that women who give birth to daughters are belittled, while those who provide a male child are given more honor and status. Salman and Rubina were a happy and loving couple, but after the birth of their third daughter, Salman misses no chance at insulting her, even in public.
5. It highlights how helpless a woman can be in such situations
Salman is shown to be neglecting his daughters, scolding and beating them every now and then. He even asks Rubina to stop sending them to school, since they will only ruin some other person’s life the way she has ruined his life. Salman’s behavior clearly brings insult and disgrace to Rubina, yet she is helpless in this matter and has no idea where to go or what to do to solve her issues. She has got three daughters that she needs to take care of, and for their sake she continues to tolerate the disgrace she’s being subjected to.

Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida is getting popular acclaim even though it is a blatant copy of the Bollywood film Judai. By airing dramas such as Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida and Zebaish, HUM has started a new trend of dramas which are over the top and at times ridiculous. Pakistani dramas are known worldwide because of their realistic approach. There are many viewers from across the borders who appreciate this quality because their local dramas are known for going overboard. Unfortunately, Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida is turning out to be a serial which isn’t a comedy play but there are so many scenarios which make it impossible for the viewers to relate to whatever is going on. While such over the top and unrealistic scenarios might work on the big screen, they are uncalled for when the producers are tackling with a rather serious issue on the small screen.
The story of the drama revolves around an immature woman Ulfat who dreams of being rich. She is materialistic and apparently would do anything to get the wealth she wants. The character is a lot like Mehwish from Mere Pass Tum Ho but the big exception is that while Mere Pass Tum Ho gave a serious treatment to the topic; Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida’s take on the subject is outrageous. There are so many times when the story and the scenarios make no sense whatsoever. Although, those viewers who are watching the show know by now that they should not expect anything extraordinary from this drama but even then the lack of common sense while writing and directing the play is baffling. The drama is getting more obnoxious with every passing episode. If it was promoted as a comedy drama perhaps viewers would have been more welcoming of the idiosyncrasies.

Shafaq’s Superpowers
All the scenarios which led Shafaaq to fall for Shahan proved one thing that Shafaq is really desperate for love. She found Shahaan cute and attractive for no obvious reason since there is nothing cute about a grown up man acting like a tween. Not only is Shafaq desperate for love and in need of an adventure but she also has superpowers. Somehow she knew that the prize bond she was giving Ulfat had the winning number on it. Anyone who is familiar with how prize bonds work would agree that no one can know something like this beforehand.
Ulfat and Her Friends on the Nikkah
Sonya Hussyn and the director have given Ulfat’s character such an exaggerated spin that almost all of the scenes in which Ulfat is excited are over the top. The nikkah scene in particular did not look like a scene from a Pakistani drama. Ulfat’s entry with Shafaq and the expressions of her friends during the nikkah were exaggerated to the extent of being annoying.
The Change in Shafaq
Everyone who is watching this drama knows that Shafaq falling for Shahaan was the most illogical part of the story. Even if we somehow believe that Shafaq was so desperate for love that she fell for a married man, the change in Shafaq after marriage has been overdone just like everything else. She chose to do the chores instead of hiring a maid with all the money she has. All of a sudden Shafaq is not just another a ordinary homemaker but someone who can do cleaning and cooking. Not only this her styling and dressing sense went out of the window as soon as she married Shahaan. Unless looking exactly like Ulfat was part of her plan too, Shafaq’s newfound lack of fashion sense is unexplainable.
Ulfat’s Celebrations after Winning the Lottery
Since there is no basic concept of timeline or reality in the drama, after winning the lottery, the over the top celebrations were in process within minutes. The way these celebrations were covered was unbelievable. Everything from Ulfat’s entry to the change in her personality was beyond ridiculous. Forever clueless Shahaan had no idea what was going on even though such celebrations would normally require a lot of labor and time!
As if this was not enough Ulfat bought a house and a car like someone else would shop for clothes. When she left the showroom in her new car, she did not only have a driver too but also a guard with a gun in the back!
When Ulfat moved into her new house, her mother-in-law commented that all the servants in the house were going to do the chores. So, we are guessing that just like she got a driver and a guard free with the car, she must have been given house help too when she bought the house!
The Change in Ulfat after Getting Rich
Ulfat’s sense of style and the way she speaks English is not only over the top but highly unbelievable. It seems like Ulfat changed personalities with Shafaq. Although there are many times when her real personality takes over the fake one but even then the fake personality is nowhere close to reality.
It remains to be seen now that how long Ulfat will continue spending the money she has. If the director and the writer continue to be as illogical with their approach as they have been so far then it will probably last her a long time! We are pretty sure that we will be seeing many more illogical and over the top situations and scenes in the upcoming episodes too. If the makers wanted to give a comic spin to the show, they should have chosen another theme. The theme revolving around a woman selling her husband might have worked for cinema in 1997 but this is 2020 when actresses who call themselves die-hard feminists should not even choose to be part of such projects. And then there is Zahid Ahmed who repeatedly plays the lead role in substandard dramas and then apologizes for the error in judgment. It is sad to see our top actors settling for such projects.

Even though Mehwish’s interest in Shehwar was crystal clear by this time but no one expected her to go all the way with Shehwar all of a sudden. This ‘meeting’ in Islamabad was shown in such a way that the viewers kept on wondering what happened there. Mehwish’s change of clothes and the twin bedrooms raised a lot of questions.
Even then when the truth was revealed, people were shocked. Mehwish’s character was always negative but this development changed viewers’ perspective about her character altogether. Most viewers did not expect better from Shehwar but they were not expecting Mehwish to betray Danish in this way.
This ‘meeting’ was the most talked about scene in the drama. It left the viewers questioning and wondering. Later on when the truth was revealed, it was more shocking than surprising!

It was also shown convincingly.
After looking at the pictures and most importantly listening to Mehwish’s conversation with Shehwar Danish decided that letting his wife go was the only thing to do. Those scenes covering the final goodbye, the anniversary and ultimately the situation leading to that 2 takay ki aurat dialogue made the viewers rejoice. This change in Danish was surprising for sure.
Mehwish and Shehwar’s Relationship
Most of the viewers were wondering what the relationship status between Shehwar and Mehwish was going to be since she left home with Shehwar right after the divorce. Mere Pass Tum Ho once again took a bold turn and surprised the viewers. Shehwar and Mehwish were shown sharing a house and in a relationship without a nikkah for months. This gave rise to a lot of criticism as well. Many people thought that the drama was giving the wrong message.
There were also those people who thought that Mehwish deserved this status because she did not deserve to be given respect in any way. Such scenarios are usually not shown in Pakistani dramas therefore it was a total surprise for the viewers.
The Surprise Entry
For the longest time the viewers were wondering and speculating who was going to be Shehwar’s wife. The team did not give any clues and the information on Wikipedia was misleading. When Savera Nadeem entered the drama as Shehwar’s wife, the viewers were pleasantly surprised. No one was expecting Savera Nadeem to be part of this project. Savera Nadeem does few dramas every year but this year she also had a special surprise for her fans. This latest surprise piqued the interest of the viewers more than ever. Everyone was waiting for Shehwar’s wife to make an appearance but no one could have even imagined that Savera Nadeem will be playing this role.

The scene after Danish picks Mehwish up from the airport after finding out that she had gone to Islamabad was a powerful scene which became even more emotional because of Humayun Saeed’s superb performance. This was a shock for Danish, who trusted Mehwish completely. The way Danish blamed himself while Humayun Saeed’s expressions clearly showed he was in pain and in denial was the best part of this scene. Through this scene Humayun Saeed proved that sometimes expressions speak louder than dialogues. Whatever Danish said was not supported by his expressions. The viewers could feel Danish’s pain and the credit for that goes to Humayun Saeed.
The Bitter Reality Check
Humayun Saeed has played the role of larger than life hero in many of his recent projects. In order to make Danish’s character look human-like on screen Humayun Saeed had to give this performance his best and he did just that. Even the director Nadeem Baig wasn’t sure if Humayun Saeed would be able to deliver. But then viewers saw how easily he let go of the hero avatar and played the helpless male protagonist with utmost clarity. This conversation between Shehwar and Danish is unforgettable for all those viewers who have been watching Mere Pass Tum Ho. The flushed look on Humayun Saeed’s face, his dry lips and his body language in this scene made the viewers cry with him. Everyone who watched this episode felt Danish’s pain. It was best acting by both these actors which made this scene memorable. This was also the most emotional scene of Mere Pass Tum Ho.
One Last Try
Before letting Mehwish go Danish tries to perhaps make her realize that his life won’t sail smoothly after she left. Humayun Saeed made the most of yet another scene which showed just how clueless Danish was. These simple questions were asked in the most innocent way. Humayun Saeed nailed the expressions in this scene. He sounded casual but his expressions told a different story.
The Final Goodbye
Humayun Saeed’s acting was at its best in episode 12 of Mere Pass Tum Ho. This was the episode in which Danish decides that he needs to let Mehwish go. Humayun Saeed breathed such tangible life into these scenes that every single expression showed the pain his character was going through. His body language in this scene when Mehwish leaves with Shehwar is amazing. Those tears look real and the pain even more so. He drags himself to the bed to lay down beside Rumi as if there is no life left in him. Humayun Saeed was showered with praise after his performance in this particular episode. Even those viewers who did not feel for Danish until this point, cried with him. This scene is one of the most iconic thanks to Humayun Saeed’s brilliant acting.
The Helplessness
Mehwish apologized in episode 19 of Mere Pass Tum Ho by calling Danish and telling him that she wanted him to take her back. This conversation between Mehwish and Danish after such a long time was made even more intense because of Danish’s dialogues and Humayun Saeed’s acting. He made sure that every single dialogue was delivered in such a way that it showed his characters true feelings. Danish’s helplessness and seeing how he still remembered everything as if it was yesterday made the viewers cry. Humayun Saeed did a remarkable job here.
