The 70th annual event of Miss Universe 2021 contest was held over this weekend in Israel where 80 beauties from around the world flaunted their gorgeousness. The contestants went through a number of categories in the pageant, including display of national costumes, swimwear and demonstration of public speaking skills.

Miss India Harnnaz Sandhu won the title of Miss Universe at the 70th annual pageant that was held in Israel over this weekend. The previously reigning Miss Universe, Andrea Meza of Mexico crowned the 21-year-old on Sunday night, leaving her in tears of joy. Sandhu outshined Miss South Africa Lalela Mswane and Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira who were also among the final three contestants.

Meanwhile, the pageant was also boycotted by many contestants to condemn Israel’s misconduct of the Palestinians. Among these participants, Miss South Africa, who was the second runner-up in the competition, was also not supported by her own government. While the stunning gold, silver and bronze gowns, adorned by the final 10 contestants left viewers awe-struck.

Though majority of the artists and officials in India are in support of banning Pakistani artists but on the other hand India’s Central Board of Film Certification chief Pahlaj Nihalani do not consider this step right.

When the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA) banned the Pakistani artists from working in India Nihalani said, “To give a visa to any Pakistani is the sole decision of the government, and we as producers and actors, are saying they are not terrorists and that art and culture should never come in between.”

Nihalani clearly supported Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan in their decision of casting Pakistani celebrities Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan in their films as the relationships between the two countries were good and now banning these movies Aae Dil Hai Mushki and Raees seem completely wrong to him.

Nihalani said, “These artistes who have worked in these films should not be asked to leave. They have every right to work here.”

The Film exhibitor Akshaye Rathi also agreed with Nihalani and said, “Logically speaking, blocking the release of the Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma-Aishwarya Rai starrer at this point of time will have zilch effect on Fawad Khan! The man has taken his fees for acting in the film and is happily back at home in Lahore now.”

Rathi made a very intelligent point that its not Fawad Khan who will suffer butthe ban will effect the Dharma Productions , Ranbir Kapoor, who is an Indian actor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, again an Indian actor and film exhibitors across India.

Indians should realize that banning Pakistani stars wont cause any loss to Pakistan but to their own film industry.

Fawad khan the heartthrob turned 35 on 29th November. He made his film debut with a supporting role in a Pakistani movie ‘Khuda Kay Liye’, in 2007 which turned out to be hit. He then left a lasting mark on the audience with his captivating looks and brilliant acting skills in dramas like Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Humsafar.

He made his debut in Bollywood,starring opposite Sonam Kapoor in the 2014 rom-com ‘Khoobsurat’, and won the Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. He has not just received fame in Pakistan but across the border too and girls in no time went gaga over his looks. But due to the rising political tensions between the neighbors, India banned Pakistani artists and content, in return Pakistan banned Indian Content.

Having immortalised strong women-oriented roles on TV screens across the border, young and multi-faceted Sanam Saeed, known to Indian audiences as Kashaf Murtaza of “Zindagi Gulzar Hai”, says that while India makes the most of its filmmaking capacity to tell stories, the medium in Pakistan is TV. 

The 29-year-old is ecstatic and “grateful” that “Zindagi Gulzar Hai“, one of the most popular ongoing shows in India, has turned out to be the “first drama to have broken the ice across the borders in current times”, Sanam told IANS in her distinct baritone over the phone from Karachi.

“India uses Bollywood, rather cinema, to tell its stories. It is one of the largest filmmaking nations in the world and so your talents get to tell stories about politics, love and drama through films. In Pakistan, our medium is the small screen. 

“We don’t make many films, and hardly have theatres. A majority of people seek entertainment while sitting at home and TV gives it to them, so we excel on that part,” Sanam said, stressing that since their command over language and gift of the gab are “strong”, they have some prolific writers. 

Shows from Pakistan are high on content and quality and Indian audiences are gradually coming face to face with them courtesy new channel Zindagi – Jodey Dilon Ko, a first-of-its-kind initiative, beaming entertainment and content from that side of the border here. 

The line-up on Zindagi channel bears testimony to Sanam’s contention. 

Her own show “Zindagi Gulzar Hai”, based on prolific writer Umera Ahmad’s novel of the same name, is a romantic drama focussing on women, portraying equality of the girl child and importance of a career for women. 

Another show “Aunn Zara”, now over thanks to the finite nature of most Pakistani shows, was based on Faiza Iftikhar’s novel “Hisaar-e-Muhabbat” and caught the viewers’ eyes as it dwelt on family ties and strong female characters. 

There’s also “Kaash Main Teri Beti Na Hoti” highlighting the struggles of the underprivileged and “Kitni Girhain Baqi Hain”, a gripping line-up of tele-films focussing on women from various walks of life. 

As an artiste, Sanam, who was born in Britain and shifted to Karachi with her family when she was six, prefers to pick parts which depict a woman’s struggle. 

“I’ve seen the effect some of my shows have had, and so I like characters that can be role models for young girls, roles that can help to change people’s perspective.” 

By “people”, you mean? 

“The masses. The middle-class masses. The upper middle class here still has options for entertainment. We have internet, Hollywood and books. But for the majority and the masses, there is only TV,” said Sanam. 

“A lot of them sit at home and watch TV as they can’t afford other forms of entertainment. So, we try to do shows which have inspirational value,” added the actress, who has played a troubled wife in “Mera Naseeb”, a Pakistani British woman in “Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu” and a Syrian Christian single mother in “Talkhiyan”. 

Sanam started out by being a model, following which she became a video jockey, did theatre, tried her hand at stand up comedy and is also a singer, apart from being an actress in TV shows and films. 

She says three of her past shows will be beamed on Zindagi channel soon. 

In a recent interview, veteran Pakistani actress Samina Peerzada, who plays Sanam’s mother in “Zindagi Gulzar Hai” told IANS that she is glad that through these shows, India is getting to see a side of their country so far eclipsed by negative news coverage. 

Sanam has another view. 

“I don’t understand why we are considered different. We were one nation. We are not different. In fact, there is so much similarity between us culturally, in terms of food, clothes, family, bonds and language. So, I have never been under the impression that we (India and Pakistan) are different. Nevertheless, I’m glad that the shows are having a positive impact on people in India – it’s the same effect that they had on people here (in Pakistan),” she said.

A huge fiasco went on when India initially banned Pakistani artists more specifically Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan from working in Bollywood. Their movies Raees and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil where Fawad had a cameo came under a lot of fire. Consequently, there were no more projects for the stars. Recently, an Indian minister talked about banning Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Saba Qamar who did Hindi Medium is also not going to be a part of the sequel. So, India has officially banned Pakistani artists to work in any of their media.

The FWIC notice openly is calling Pakistan the nation who has unleashed a war like situation in their country. So, Pakistani artists are officially banned while our channels are still showing Indian content and none of our stars had the audacity to say a word about these allegations.

It was the time we should have showed too that “Nation Comes First”. Our industry is flourishing by leaps and bounds which should have provided confidence to artists to take a stand for their and their country’s dignity.

Zard Patton Ka Bunn is a drama that aired on Hum TV. Directed by Saife Hassan and written by Mustafa Afridi, the drama focused on lack of medical facilities in the rural areas of pakistan. Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail played the lead roles in the show and it was a big hit with the audience. The drama also received a huge viewership from India.

Recently, there is a banning spree going on in India post Pehelgam Attacks. Like usual, India is not focusing on investigation and just wants to blame Pakistan. Pakistani drama channels and Instagram accounts of many big stars have been targeted by the Indian government. But it seems like they are still okay with copying content from Pakistan. An upcoming Indian series just dropped its trailer and it is titled Gram Chikitsalay.

Indian media industry is famous for copying the content of different regions with confidence and sheer perfection. A lot of Indian movies are the blatant copies of famous international movies including Pakistani old movies.

The popular Pakistani application Vidly TV has been banned in India because of the release of its new web series Sevak. The Indian authorities are of the view that the theme of the web series shows Indian brutalities on the minorities which is against the integrity of India. Almost all the Indian publications have posted the news of the ban of Vidly App. A few publications drew attention of authorities towards the web series. The web series features real stories of Sikhs.

It is a very unique drama and people are simply loving how all characters are behaving and how the story is beautifully unfolding. It stars big names like Sohail Ahmed, Rabia Butt, Saqib Sumeer, Kashif Mehmood, Noor ul Hassan and many more.

Jeevan Nagar revolces around two characters played by Sohail Ahmed. Babar Shah who is the don of Jeevan Nagar and Laali Guru, an intersex individual who will eventually take Babar Shah’s place. Laali Guru’s group or as it is called in Urdu Toli has other intersex people as they are in distress due to the kidnap of their Guru.

Saqib Sumeer was a guest on Fuchsia where he shared an incredible fact about Jeevan Nagar. He revealed that all other intersex people in Laali’s group except four male actors were actually intersex people. He added that those were real Khawaja Siras and their own Guru used to come with them on set and they all guided them how to portray them on screen with authenticity. The goal of Jeevan Nagar team was to make sure everything remains respectful and the real Khawaja Siras helped them with that.

Inaya Khan is a new addition in the entertainment industry and she has been doing some strong and negative characters quite beautifully. Inaya Khan was a guest on Ayaz Samoo’s show and she talked about her opinions regarding love, how the real world really is and her celebrity crushes in the industry.

Inaya talked about not being married yet. She said that most people she has met in her life are fake and they are generally outing on a show and that is not a quality that she wants in her life partner. Thus she will hold on till she finds someone she likes and she is not in a hurry to get married. The internet is filled with the latest controversy about LGS 1-A/1 harassment cases against Sir Umair, Sir Warraich, Sir Aitezaz and other staff members.

Many girls have come out and shared their harassment stories on the internet to seek justice which the administration of LGS 1-A/1 has failed to provide.

We contacted students from the respective school and they shared the whole story.

They opened up about Sir Aitezaz who is a teacher at 1A1 and he used to teach politics and served as a MUN coach. According to the students, he is a manipulative person and on international trips, he used to get involved with girls. He has girlfriends from every batch and many called him a ‘playboy’. He even manipulated minors as they are of age 16. Many girls came out and complained about him but the administration didn’t take any action.

About Sir Waraich, many students said, “He teaches chemistry and he inappropriately looks at girls and touches them. He makes his students feel uncomfortable.”

About Sir Umar, students complained that he is part of the admin office and he harassed a girl and also makes other students feel uncomfortable.

Maira Omair Rana who is the wife of actor Omair Rana works at the admin office of LGS. Whenever girls complained to her, then she used to do victim-blaming. She scolded girls about their revealing clothes and even said to the victims that they should not come here for their complaints.

However, LGS has a strict dress code and no one is allowed to wear tight clothes but still, victim-blaming was happening.

In harassment cases, there should not be any question about clothes and it is highly inappropriate to blame the victims. The worst part is that the admin office didn’t take any action and they tried to silence the victims but all the students are uniting against the teachers who harassed girls.

Inaam Ghar is a game show hosted by Aamir Liaqat Hussain on Geo TV, the show was started on 18th January on Geo TV. Since its first program Geo Tv has been constantly claiming that the show has broken all records of viewership.  In another such claim Urdu Daily Jang (which is part of Geo TV) has published the news, claiming that Inaam Ghar is now the mostly ever viewed “family show” in Asia. Geo is part of Jang Media Group, perhaps the largest media group of Pakistan where Urdu Daily Jang is the most read Urdu newspaper in the world.

However the basis of this claim are not mentioned in the news , like how many viewers actually watch this program, the previous number one  “family show” in the Asia, which is now deprived of its status by Inaam Ghar, what is the source of this claim; etc. Above all what is the definition and criteria for a show to be called as “family show”, or a “non-family show”????

The claim is also strange enough as there are atleast three Asian countries which have more population than Pakistan namely China, India and Indonesia. All these countries have better economic status than Pakistan. Also population of India and China is many many times more than Pakistan so television viewership in these two countries is also much higher in numbers than Pakistan. So claiming any Pakistani program has been mostly viewed in Asia, definitely raises many questions.

Last year Geo Tv started a game show Inaam Ghar hosted by famous television personality Aamir Liaqut Hussain. Urdu Daily Jang  claimed that the show had broken all kind of viewership records anyone can ever imagine. The first season of Inaam Ghar was concluded in first quarter of 2014.

Now Geo Tv is relaunching season 2 of Inaam Ghar, with the name Inaam Ghar Plus. Apart from a small amendment in name, the rest of the season 2 is expected to be similar as season 1.

The story of the drama revolves around a rich and influential lady who has a son who falls in love with a girl of a different background. The drama has been directed by Furqan Adam. It has been written by Erum Wasi & Saima Wasi.

Today, the last episode of the drama aired which was admired by the viewers. People loved the happy ending of the drama serial and showed their praise for it generously.

Fans said that this drama showed the power of practicing patience. They said that they loved the happy ending of the drama. Fans also commented on the characters. One fan said that the lady Sabeen deserved all of this. She deserved having a dead grand daughter & losing her daughter AND son’s trust. Although his first film for the year is yet to come out in January, Sarmad Khoosat has already begin the filming process of the Saba Qamar starrer Kamli. Starring alongside Saba, will be veteran actress Sania Saeed, Omair Rana, Nimra Bucha and judging from the pictures online, Sarmad Khoosat himself will be seen playing a part in the film as well.

President Mamnoon Hussain was the chief guest at the event. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Zakaullah, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Sohail Aman and Defence Minister Khawaja Asif were also at the parade.

The ceremony started with the singing of the national anthem which was followed by the president observing the parade from a jeep.

Chinese and Saudi troops and a Turkish military band also featured at the event.
