Four Pakistani celebrities namely, Sarwat Gilani, Bilal Abbas Khan, Ali Zafar and Sharmeen Obaid chinoy make it to top 50 Asian celebrities in the world list for 2020, which is published by UK based Eastern Eye newspaper. The list features a countdown of global Asian stars who broke boundaries, did great work and made a positive impact this year.

The Churails star Sarwat Gilani is ranked at number 21, ahead of global stars, including from Hollywood, the music industry, television, literature and social media, for her boundary-breaking performance in hit web serial Churails. Eastern Eye entertainment editor Asjad Nazir, who put together the list explained that Sarwat’s performance is a big turning point in Pakistani popular culture and said: “The stunning turn from Sarwat Gilani smashed stereotypes, redefined the Pakistani leading lady and exuded the kind of girl power not seen before in the country”.

Bilal Abbas khan is ranked at number 28 in the list of top 50 Asian celebrities in the world. The fastest rising acting star in Pakistan continued reaching new heights in 2020. The unstoppable actor started the year with HUM TV series Pyar Ke Sadqay and ended it with ZEE5 sleeper hit Aik Jhooti Love Story. With some more high-profile projects on the way, Bilal looks like the future of Pakistani film and television.

The Pakistani singer, actor, musician and humanitarian Ali Zafar is ranked at number 39 in the list of top 50 Asian celebrities. He saved the Pakistani cricket league this year by giving them a better anthem than they had. Ali also promoted new talent with his record label. More meaningful was the immense humanitarian work the actor did for those who were suffering during Covid-19. His actions inspired others and consolidated his star credentials.

The very talented Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy is ranked at number 49 in the list of top 50 Asian celebrities. The only director in the list once again used her platform to raise awareness about social issues, nurture new talent and gain international attention for her work. A big highlight was stunning animated short Sitara: Let Girls Dream, which premiered earlier this year. The Oscar winner was also signed up to direct superhero series Ms. Marvel.

We do not expect the celebrities to wear a same dress but when they do there is bound to be a who wore it better war between them where we love to vote for who rocked in the same dress more and who has carried it more elegantly.

This time the war is not only limited to actresses sporting the same attire but now there are actors involved as well. Four of the famous celebrities have worn the same kurta on multiple occasions and all of them carried it tremendously.

These celebrities are Fawad Afzal Khan, Faisal Qureshi, Mahira Khan and Hania Aamir. Although the color of the kurta that Faisal Qureshi wore was different from the other three ones but other than the color it was same while the other three ones wore the exact same one.

He further advised to Pakistani Film Makers that People of our country are also expecting to have International quality films that can be released worldwide.

We should realize the need of the  hour now; Great and worse movies are part of every Cinema’s culture but we need to eradicate this culture and have to bring about our own trend of movies. If we want to revive Pakistan Film Industry and If we want our cinemas to be over-occupied again, we have to make movies having different story lines.

Talking about it, Aleem Dar said, “In 2003, I was umpiring for World Cup matches. It was an international tour and the start of my career. I was the youngest umpire in the panel, with 12 international matches under my belt. It was the turning point of my life. My seven-month-old daughter passed away while I was busy with the World Cup. My wife didn’t tell me the news, and my family hid it from me for a month because they knew it was the start of my career. I learned about it from someone who met me in Johannesburg, despite my father’s strict instructions not to tell me. Pervez Musharraf who served as the General in the Pakistan armed forces and was the president of Pakistan for 7 years passed away at a hospital in Dubai on February 4th, Sunday. He had been fighting a long battle with a rare disease Amyloidosis for many years now. He was 79 years old.

The news of his demise was covered by all the prominent International news portals as well. A statement was issued right after ex-president Pervez Musharraf’s demise by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in which they expressed heartfelt condolences.

“May Allah bless the departed soul and give strength to the bereaved family,” was how they expressed their sentiments.

Former President of Pakistan and the closest friend and member of PML-N president Mamnoon Hussain has passed away at the age of 80.

According to the credible news sources his son Arsalan Mamnoon confirmed the news of his passing away.

The former president was suffering from cancer and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the last two weeks according to his son.

Mamnoon Hussain was the 12th president of Pakistan, who served from 2013 to 2018 during the tenure of the PML-N.  He was one of the most senior PML-N leaders.

Mamnoon Hussain was a businessman, Mamnoon Hussain started his political career as a Muslim Leaguer in 1969. A lot of journalists and celebrities have been expressing their condolences on his sad demise. May Allah bless him with higher ranks. His death will be counted as a huge loss.

Earlier today former model Quratulain Ali Khan (Annie) who turned to journalism, documentary production and writing was found dead in her flat in Karachi after a fire in it. Annie perished in fire and was found burnt at her residence on Club Road. She was living alone in the apartment.

According to police the cause of death is suffocation from fumes. It is believed that she committed suicide by setting her apartment on fire. Her relatives said that she was mentally disturbed.

The 38-year-old had transitioned from modelling to freelance journalism, writing for prestigious publications here and abroad. She was published in Vantage, Marie Claire US, The Caravan, Herald, RIC Journal, Tanqeed, The Asia Society website and other local publications.

In a rather sad turn of events, a former Pakistani Miss World, Zainab Naveed, was killed in a car crash in the United States.

Zainab Naveed was 32 years old.

According to the police in the Rockland County village of Pomona, New York, Zainab died on the spot when her vehicle crashed as she took a wrong turn.

Lahore born, Zainab Naveed, was a resident of Pomona and went on to represent the city of Lahore during the 2012 Miss Pakistan World Championships in Toronto, Canada. Zainab went to win the title.

Zainab had also participated in the Miss Earth 2012 competition in the Philippines.

Zainab is survived by  her husband Ali-Haider Shah, her parents Tabinda Naveed and Chaudry Qudrat, brothers Ali and Umer Naveed. According to a gofundme page set up for Zainab, people are being invited to support her family by contributing to ease the financial burden the loss has put over the family.

Word broke out on social media that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader is set to get married, and soon enough, pictures of the 80-year-old, former federal minister Iftikhar Gilani’s wedding to a 21-year-old girl went viral. Pakistani Umpire Asad Rauf has passed away. Asad Rauf was the former ICC umpire and Pakistan’s first-class cricketer. According to sources, Asad Rauf passed away after having a heart attack. His brother has confirmed about his death. The timings of his funeral prayers will be announced later by the family. Well, Asad Rauf was 66 years old former Pakistani player and an international umpire who led a great umpiring career.

Asad Rauf was the ICC’s top ranked umpires, he did umpiring in more than 64 Tests, 139 ODIs and 28 T20 Internationals. Not only this, he had supervised 11 Women T20 international matches. He also served IPL as an important umpire but sadly he had to face a ban by BCCI due to an unfortunate event.

A few days ago, Asad Rauf made headlines because of the news related to persuing his family business of selling of old clothes. He was praised a lot for doing the job as a contented man even after enjoying the stature of an international Umpire. He said to his fans that he takes the pride in continuing his family business and he’s a happy man but soon after few months, he died of heart attack. May his soul rest in peace.

Naveed Alam the former Hockey Olympian who was famously known for winning the 1994 Hockey world cup, passed away in Lahore today.

According to the details shared by media resources, 47 years old, Naveed Alam lost his life after battling blood cancer. His family shared that Naveed Alam had his chemotherapy last night, after which his condition worsen up. He was shifted to the intensive-care unit after his health deteriorated, his daughter said.

His family had revealed earlier this month that the former sportsman was feeling unwell for several days and went to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital where doctors learned of his illness. On 7 July 2021, it was reported Alam had been diagnosed with blood cancer. He sought financial support from the government for treatment.

Naveed Alam served as the manager of our national team in Beijing Olympics 2008 as well. Both the Hockey Federation and Cricket Board have expressed deep sorrow on the demise of Naveed Alam.

The Punjab government has suspended the Punjab Film Certification Board. The decision was made due to the government no longer being able to afford its members. The board’s chairman, former film star Muhammad Ali’s wife and an actress herself, Zeba, vice chairman along with all its other members were removed in an order to look into corruption reports.

Express Tribune reported that a  senior official of the Punjab Information and Culture Ministry official said , “After receiving several reports of financial corruption, the  ministry has decided to conduct an audit of the board.” The main issue was the chairperson Zeba’s monthly salary which was whopping 1.2 Million. An official said, ““It was beyond our understanding why such huge sums were being paid to the members, in comparison to the amount of work they were doing. Only a few films are produced every year so I would like to know what work this committee has been doing, other than receiving big salaries?”

On being contacted Zeba said, “I completed my tenure with great commitment and I do not know why the committee has been suspended.  I will not comment on the issues of corruption and auditing. All I know is that I completed all the work that was assigned to me by the government with honesty.” According to the reports a new committee will be formed after appointing a new chairperson.

Zulqarnain Haider is a Pakistani (former) cricketer who has played for the national team as wicket keeper batsman. He also played for Pakistan’s Under-19 squad. Inzamam ul Haq is a former Pakistani cricket team captain and a right-handed middle-order batsman. He came into the limelight after Imran Khan (former captain of the Pakistan team) noticed him. Inzamam made his name in the cricket when he made remarkable contributions with the bat in World-Cup 1992.

Inzamam-ul-Haq had been complaining about chest pain over the last three days, a cricket-based website reported. After tests, it was revealed he had suffered a heart attack and needed immediate surgery. Former Pakistan batting great and ex-chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq underwent an angioplasty surgery on Monday evening after he suffered a heart attack in Lahore, his manager revealed. According to the sources a stent has been successfully placed in Inzamam’s heart.

Inzamam’s condition is declared stable, however, doctors have placed him under observation at a private hospital in Lahore.

Azhar Mahmood is a famous Pakistani cricket coach and former cricketer. He was a bowler who could spin the bowl at a health pace and later became a bowling coach of Pakistan national cricket team till 2019.

Artist Sataesh Khan, who left showbiz in 2012 and joined a religious group ‘Al-huda’ is now seeking divorce from her husband Malik Noraid Awaan. Sataesh khan married Malik Naveed Awaan, in a grandeur party in 2013 the same man who earlier married famous singer Annie Khaalid. However after few months of marriage Annie Khaalid later took divorce and claimed she was brutally tortured by Malik Noraid Awaan. Noraid Awaan denied all claims, and he married Satesh Khan few days after divorcing Ainnie Khaalid.

However time has proved that Ainnie Khaalid was right, when Sataesh Khan has now also claimed divorce from Noraid Awaan. Sataesh Khan also revealed that she was constantly tortured and threatened by family of Noraid Awaan. She further added she is the 15th wife of Malik Awaan and he has destroyed life of many other girls too.

The extent of lawlessness in Pakistan in the year 2024 is unprecedented. The mob violence, people breaking into houses in the night and attacks on women have increased by a hundred percent in some areas and the latest victim of this increasing violence is former actress and Geo News anchor Zainab Jamil. Zainab Jamil left the showbiz industry for the sake of Allah a few years back.

Zainab Jamil runs a Salon in DHA Lahore and she was being followed by a few men. She even got a threatening letter at her salon a few days back. She later got shot outside her salon. She survived his attempt with five shots and she got into her car and was taken to a nearby hospital. She does not know who the attackers were and has suspicions against her husband whom she was having problems with and lived separately.

Former Pakistani Television actress, writer producer and host Nausheen Masud passed away. Nausheen Masud was a popular PTV actor and host. She was suffering from cancer for many years. Nausheen Masud has worked in numerous famous Pakistani dramas which include Jaal, Colony 52, Gher Tau Aakhir Apna Hai and Dolly Ki Ayegi Barat. All these dramas were phenomenal hits after which Nausheen became a known face.

She also hosted popular shows including Andaz Apna Apna. Nausheen also did direction for multiple music videos of popular Pakistani singers including Shahzad Rai, Junaid Jamshed, Aamir Zaki, Jawad Ahmed and music band Junoon.

The news of tragic death was shared by her co-star and famous Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui who shared the news on the social media app X. Adnan Siddiqui wrote, “Farewell to the remarkable Nausheen Masud, dear friend and beautiful soul. Her warmth and style added magic to every moment we shared on and off camera. Grateful for the memories we co-created. Rest peacefully, Nausheen”
