Watching Pakistani dramas is my only relaxation after work. “Zindagi Gulzar hai” still holds the top position in every aspect – story, dialogues and dialogue delivery, nothing has surpassed it yet. However, after Fawad Khan, Usman Mukhtar in “Anaa” grabbed my attention. In love with Altamash, the character played by Usman, and there are a number of reasons for this crush.

Firstly it is Usman’s tone and dialogue delivery, secondly the dialogues are well written. The character demands a presence and Usman has done justice to this role. The story itself is not great but dialogues, location and Cinematography make it worth watching.

Character of Altmash has overshadowed role of the main lead in the drama. It is evolvement of love between Altmash and Izza that has kept the audience captivated. He seem to be living up to the dialogue that he said in one of the earlier episodes ” Mohabbat se bari bewakoofi duniya mein koi nahi….. muhabaat hoti nahi hai sahi jaga per ke jati hai”. He seems to have gradually developed feelings for Izza and is careful with how he expresses it. The budding romance between these two characters has made it worth a watch, as people can relate with the emotions portrayed.

Each episode is eagerly awaited and the scenes of Althamsh seem to be the highlight of each episode. As the drama is moving towards its climax it would be difficult to replace it. It would be replaced with usual predictable mundane storyline that is being churned in the bulk productions that we witness nowadays.

“When I read the script and the novel I thought that the character of Aswad was too toxic. I wanted to do something different this time. Then later on we had a conversation with the team and we changed many things in Aswad’s character. I refused to portray a violent character. The team cooperated with me and changed what I requested them to change in script”, added Usman.

He further said that “Now we’re getting a massive response on Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay. People are loving the storyline and everything. Meanwhile, I’m also receiving threatening messages that what you are doing to Mehreen is totally wrong, you’ll be destroyed. I used tell them that it’s just a character and drama.”

Usman Mukhtar while sharing the story behind stealing Mahira Khan’s EarPods, mentioned that “I stole Mahira’s AirPods. Basically I had the same AirPods as hers, so I didn’t knew that they were Mahira’s AirPods not mine and Mahira always forgets her things here and there on set.”

“I was packing my stuff when I saw those AirPods lying on the bed, I thought they are mine so I picked them up and putted them in my bag. Next day I got a call that Mahira’s AirPods are missing and you have similar one’s so we just wanted to ask you. I said no I don’t have them with me”, added Usman Mukhtar.

Usman further said that “After two three days during a break in between shooting I just thought to put my AirPods on charge. When I put my hand in the bag, I got another AirPod which was obviously not mine because mine were already in my hands. I immediately called Mahira and apologized saying that I didn’t knew that these were yours I thought these were mine. This is all what happened”.

Usman Mukhtar has had a long career behind the camera. He has directed and acted in many short films before he entered the commercial side of the industry with his film debut in Janaan. Usman Mukhtar had a small role in Janaan. He made his television debut with Anaa where he played Altamash.

Altamash and Izza were the characters played by Usman Mukhtar and Naimal Khawar and people just fell in love with the two. Usman Mukhtar is a tremendous Pakistani television actor and a film maker. His notable Pakistani dramas are Anaa, Sabaat, Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay and Sinf E Ahan. His character Dr. Numair has become the talk of the town after he took his newly born baby to the hospital for a DNA test.

Now that she’s heard Numair asking for a DNA test, like my wife, Zunaira, said, ‘If I were in her place, I would’ve broken your face!”

He further added that he chose Jafaa script because it addresses the issues of the society that are often stigmatized or overlooked like domestic violence and infertility.
