Dhund Episode 5-6 – Thoughtful & Gripping

0

After a rather disappointing episode (the one with Zhalay Sarhadi and Nouman Masood), I kept putting off watching the fifth episode, but that was before the promo featuring MARINA KHAN caught my eye and I knew I had to catch up – no excuses.

The fifth episode follows Hira, a girl who was sold to Sir Jamal and his wife by her parents. Children separated from their birth parents often grapple with identity issues and struggle to find answers about where they came from and why they were abandoned. The wailing spirit of Hira’s mother , deeply regretful and guilty, wants nothing but her daughter’s forgiveness. I found this episode to be very touching, and I liked how Maria could feel the helplessness and sorrow of Hira’s mother on a personal level. I liked Nana Sahib and Maria’s exchange here too:

Nana Sahib (speaking of the spirit): Kuch batati nahe, sisakti rehti hai. Be-chayn hai, tumhari tarah.
Maria: Koi maa hogi.

Also, the relationship between Sir Jamal and Hira was interesting. Hira had the right to ask questions about her past but Jamal refused to answer them because he, physically and emotionally dependent on her, was too afraid to lose her – the only person who cared about him. We are also introduced to the character of Humaira (Marina Khan) who is Maria’s phupo and strongly believes in the existence of spirits. We also learn that it’s Humaira who put Detective Uzair in touch with Maria.

The fifth episode follows Humaira as she brings an antique rocking chair into her new house, and with it, comes a grumpy, old ghost who is more lonely than he is scary. Marina Khan – and her character – is an absolute delight. Humaira Aunty, with her theatrics, red hand fan and white tube roses, is hilarious and extremely likable! ‘’Humare khandan mein kis qism kay buddhay hain’’ had me in splits. This track was a lot lighter than our previous tracks; I laughed out loud several times while watching this episode and I loved it. I want to see more of Humaira Aunty in the future episodes  because a) Marina Khan b) Marina Khan.

I was enjoying the way every episode revealed a little more about Imran, but then we got two successive episodes that had nothing to do with the mystery behind Imran and Fawad’s disappearances. Arjumand who? Itni dramatic entry and everything, but now they seem to have forgotten all about her. All of a sudden, in the latest episode, there are all these new developments: Imran is in touch with his family and Fawad was also spotted in the village. Fawad calling his mother after all these years?  That was a lousy way to take the story forward, but maybe there’s more to that phone call. I certainly hope so.

I have always complained about done-to-death stories rife with love triangles, dusri shaadian, teesri shaadian, extra marital affairs, beautiful and confident women who would go to any lengths to marry the guy who – you guessed it – is in love with his class fellow/cousin/colleague. And a counter argument to these rants has always been: these stories get ratings, audience ko yehi dekhna hai. I don’t think that’s true, I think people are sick of these stories, as they should be. Dhund is a different series in every way; it explores a different genre while also dealing with social issues in an interesting way. I don’t know how Dhund is doing as far as ratings are concerned, but if it’s not doing well, then does it mean people really do want to see old, recycled stories? Stories where two women are pitted against each other to get the guy who doesn’t deserve either of them? If it’s true and these are really the kind of stories that get ratings, then I am quite concerned for the fate of dramas like Dhund that attempt to do something different. What do you think?

Are you watching Dhund? What are your thoughts?

Dhund Episode 4 – Could’ve Been Better

0

The latest installment of Dhund wasn’t bad by any means, but I personally found myself bored. I guess this has a lot to do with the fact that I was expecting to find out more about Imran – his involvement in Neeni’s death and subsequent disappearance. This episode, however, had nothing to add to our knowledge of Imran, Arjumand or Neeni.

It’s nice to know that Maria has friends who are not among the dead and departed. In this episode, we follow Maria’s friend, Erum (Zhalay Sarhadi) who is struggling to move on from the death of her husband, Nomi (Nouman Masood). Nomi, not ready to accept that he no longer belongs to the world of the living, constantly tries to make his presence felt and communicate with Erum. What I liked about the previous tracks was that they had a certain depth to them; the one with Sania Saeed explored a strained mother-daughter relationship; last week’s track was a sharp commentary on religious and sectarian animosity and its heart-breaking consequences. In this episode, even though Erum’s friend, Kashif (struggling to break out of the friend zone) said something about Nomi being an abusive husband, this bit wasn’t explored in a way I’d have appreciated. I liked Maria Wasti’s acting in the scene where she tries to get Nomi to make peace with his death and let go of Erum, but overall, this track was boring and didn’t give me much to think about – quite unlike last week’s track.

I always enjoy watching Nasreen’s scenes – she makes me laugh – but her scenes with the driver were a pain to watch because the actor playing the driver was terrible! I wouldn’t have complained if he wasn’t given a considerable amount of screen time. I miss Nana Syed and would like to see him make an appearance in the next episode. I also hope that we learn more about Arjumand, Imran and Neeni next week.

Sorry for the late review – life kinda got in the way. What are your thoughts on this episode?

Dhund Episode 2 – Intriguing

0

”Behtar hota hai kay kuch haqeeqaton par parda para rahay.”

I am really enjoying the storytelling here. We get more questions than answers and everyone has got something to hide – even Maria, our main character, knows more than she lets on. And what helps the storytelling is the direction. Faiz is an intelligent director who is deftly treating this multi-track story.

Today, the track that had my complete attention was Maria’s. Imran and Maria were not a happy couple, and it’s not her husband but her son, Fawad for whom Maria’s heart aches. Imran’s former colleague (Sania Saeed) tells Uzair that there was a change in Imran’s behavior during the days leading up to his disappearance; he became short-tempered and quit his job for no apparent reason. In last week’s episode, we saw one of Maria’s flashbacks, where she was telling Imran about this girl she sees in her vision – a girl, dressed in a school uniform, cries for help. And upon hearing this, Imran seemed quite taken aback. Today, we learn more about this little girl, Neeni, and her mother, Arjumand (Angeline Malik). Imran knew Arjumand and used to pay frequent visits to her in Lahore, and he had something to do with Neeni’s death. The episode ended with Arjumand showing up on Maria’s doorstep, and I did NOT see that coming. I am curious about the connection between Imran and Arjumand – an obvious one is that the two were having an affair. I will be slightly disappointed if that really is the case here because that would be a tad bit predictable in an otherwise unpredictable story.

Another thing I didn’t see coming was Maria asking Uzair to discontinue the investigation. Maria fears that if the truth comes out, she’d lose her son for good. Maria is not being completely honest with Uzair, but something tells me that Uzair is keen to get to the bottom of it and won’t be dropping the case.

The other track involving Sania Saeed’s character (I don’t think we learned her name?) could have been better. When you have someone like Sania Saeed working her magic, this track could have been much stronger. Anyways, here we follow a woman who, after her husband’s death, is struggling to get through to her daughter, Hania. Hania was extremely close to her father and is certain of his presence in their house. Hania used to spend the majority of her time with her stay-at-home dad because her mother worked to support the family. After his death, Hania misses him and thinks that her mother doesn’t try to understand her feelings. I don’t appreciate the way working mothers are portrayed in a negative light, but I am glad that they didn’t project her as a mother who couldn’t care less, and it was good that I found myself sympathizing with a mother who deeply cared about and loved her daughter and struggled to bridge the rift. Maria’s ‘’involvement’’ here seemed forced and that ‘’let your daughter move on’’ speech was rather disappointing – I couldn’t help thinking, ‘’is that all?’’Also, I wish they’d chosen some other actor to play Hania’s father. I know the guy had only one scene but still! And sitting behind his daughter in the restaurant – I don’t know but the whole scene felt a bit off to me?

I am really interested to learn more about Arjumand, Neeni and Imran. Did you guys watch this episode? I would like to know your thoughts.

Dhund Episode 1 – Right Up My Alley!

0

Last week, I chanced upon the promos of TV One’s new mystery/horror series, Dhund – written by Mohammed Ahmed, directed by Faiz , produced by Erum Binte Shahid – and it seemed right up my alley. And after watching the first episode, I am excited to see what happens next because if the first episode is anything to go by, horror buffs have something to look forward to every Saturday.

I will be a bit vague about the storyline because I think when it comes to stories that fall in this genre, it’s best to go in knowing as little as possible, and the real fun lies in exploring the story and connecting the dots yourself. We are following Maria (Maria Wasti), an interior decorator who also happens to be a medium – someone who sees visions and hears voices of the dead who have unfinished business with the living and come to her for help. Maria’s life is far from perfect: her husband and son went missing years ago, and while the police believe they are dead, she is certain that they are not. Uzair (Hassan Ahmed) is a police officer who promises to help her find her family only if she agrees to communicate with the spirit of a girl who was murdered.

We have another track involving the tormented spirit of Jahan Ara (Sana Askari) who haunts Waqas (Asad Siddiqui), a drama editor. The way this track intertwines with Maria’s is something you’d have to see for yourself.

I think this episode was incredibly well written and well directed. In the past, I have found horror dramas (like Woh Dobara) to be laughably terrible. The drama makers behind the said shows seem to think that loud background music and lame sound effects are enough to impress the viewers, but here it was refreshing to see that the background music was tastefully played. Also, the inevitable jump scares were very well done, in my opinion. The atmosphere was gloomy and eerie which suited the story. I do hope, though, that in the next episode, Maria’s visions are shown to the viewers, because in this one, she simply narrated what she saw.

I am not a big fan of Maria Wasti’s acting, but I liked her in this episode. Mohammed Ahmed plays Maria’s late grandfather, Nana Syed. Nana Syed is wise, and gives his granddaughter the one thing she needs the most: hope. I think we are going to see some really interesting and poignant conversations between the two characters. I can’t wait! Sana Askari was terrific (and terrifying) as Jahan Ara! I think she is a talented actress who sadly settles for roles that don’t have a lot of room for performance. She should opt for more characters like the one she portrayed here. Asad Siddiqui was also quite convincing. I am not too happy about Hassan Ahmed playing Uzair because I find him…I don’t know…boring? Maybe it’s the way he talks? He just doesn’t seem into the story, which is a weird thing to say, but that’s just how I feel. But to be fair, we didn’t see a lot of him in this episode so I guess I should reserve judgment.

I think each episode will deal with different cases of earthbound spirits needing closure alongside the ongoing mystery surrounding Maria and her family. If you enjoy horror shows and movies, especially the ones involving mediums (like The Sixth Sense and Ghost Whisperer), I urge you to watch the first episode of Dhund.

Did you watch this episode? Do you plan on watching it? Please do let me know. Looking forward to your comments.

Dhund – Episode 3

0

This episode was not only interesting but also important because today’s events contribute to Maria’s character development; up until now she’d been unwilling to help the dead but in the future episodes she won’t be so reluctant as she is brought to the realization that her job as a medium is important to those who no longer have a voice.

Imran, dude, you might as well be dead – your vengeful pehli biwi wants you dead and your dusri biwi doesn’t want to have anything to do with you either. :P Turns out that Arjumand is Imran’s first wife and holds him responsible for the death of her daughter, Neeni. Now, the thing is, Arjumand was Imran’s first wife but Imran was not her first husband, so that makes Imran Neeni’s stepfather. Don’t worry, I’ll wait while you take a moment to grasp how these characters are related to each other ;)

The question remains: Why does Arjumand blame Imran for Neeni’s death? Why didn’t Imran sever all ties with Arjumand? And I also want to learn why Maria married Imran knowing he was already married?

I’m not gonna lie, the other track is a bit difficult to describe and explain but I’ll try! Ahmed and Sakina – we don’t meet these two – elope, and Sakina’s brother, Zain and father kidnap Ahmed’s sister, Rida to make Ahmed’s family suffer the consequences. What makes this track interesting and layered is another couple from a different time – the Partition of 1947. A Hindu girl, Surghanda (probably misspelling the name, apologies in advance) is madly in love with Mehmood but their love story is a sad one. Surghanda’s story broke my heart, and the actress playing her role was fantastic. Mohammad Ahmed’s writing remains sharp and here, some of the dialogues about love and religious animosity were achingly touching. This was a deeply distressing and cutting account of honour killings, and religious and sectarian animosity, made more so by the fact that we also get to view it from the eyes of the spirits of Surghanda and Mehmood. Ahmed, Sakina,Rida, Zain – all meet a tragic end.

This track, however, was not without its faults. Why did we focus on Rida and Zain and didn’t even get a glimpse of Ahmed and Sakina? I think the episodes should be a bit longer so that the tracks are more nicely fleshed out and don’t leave the viewers confused.

I also really enjoyed the scenes of Maria’s maid, Nasreen Apa. Seems like all the spirits like to scare the wits out of the poor woman! I want to see more of Nana Syed in the future episodes because I find his character quite intriguing.

Did you watch this episode? What are your thoughts?

Dhani- A revival of Pakistan’s Theatre Industry!

7

Being a country with lots of potential, Pakistan is now known for its entertainment industry all over the world when we talk about the drama industry specifically.  However, if you go back to the era say 1980-90s’, you would find despite of few resources available, the country enjoyed the phenomenon dramas like Dhoop Kinare, Tanhaiyaan, Nangay Pao, Anch, Ankahee, etc and it was at that time only that even our film industry came up with decent projects that are still cherished by the viewers. Similarly, the stage had its own values and I still remember my father watching the “Umar Sharif Show” in between the movies we used to get rented.  It seemed more like a dilemma that after touching the peaks of success, both, the film and the theatre lost the respect and charisma they once had, dramas being constant more or less.

Now that we say, and in fact see that our drama industry has evolved like anything and are getting appreciations from the world outside, it was our film industry and the theatre that needed a miracle to happen for them and wonders, Theatre seems to have its break, all thanks to NAPA and our drama celebrities.

The OLD theatres

After having great performing artists like Moin Akhtar  and Omar Shareef,  the stage of Pakistan turned into a vulgar platform where the women of the nation(A Muslim nation) were seen selling their dignity and morality for the sake of  few returns. The auditoriums that were once filled with decent audience were replaced by the people of a particular class who became the soul buyers of items like “O gujra we”, and unpredictable moves made by stage performers like Nargis. It was only few days ago that I actually saw the video of a theatre, been recommended by a friend and trust me, it was more than a shame.

It is obvious that no father would take his daughter to watch this and as said above, our stage industry became a curse and a symbol of indecency, leading to another door of entertainment been shut for the people of Pakistan.

The revival!

Though there can be a difference of opinion but all I believe is the fact that the credit that goes to the revival of Pakistan’s entertainment industry, is all limited to the celebrities who are now showing their incredible talent on screen, say Faisal Qureshi, Amina Sheikh, Saba Qamar, Shan, Fawad Khan, Fahad Mustafa, Humayun Saeed, Mahira, Sanam Saeed, Ayesha Khan, Sanam Baloch and other young actors who have not only contributed in upgrading the drama, but have also played their best when a movie was given to them.  Although a minute one, yet there is some change enough noticeable in our film industry and there are movies like Bol, Khuda K Liye, Ramchand Pakistan, Chambaili, Lamha-The seedlings, etc where again, the same faces have taken up the control and had come up with better results. However, Lollywood still has got a long way to make.

Fortunate enough, the theatre of Pakistan seems to revive once again where we see our talented actors who have actually studied acting and arts, emerging on the platform.

Dhani-The Theatre!

shan-sanam-sarwat-670

Been written by Imrana Maqsood and Amra Alam, produced by Shan, Dhani is a story of two characters Ruqaiyya and Rashida which are been adopted by two of my favorite actresses, Sanam Saeed and Sarwat Gillani. This is a 15 days based theatre been performed in Arts Council, and it is for the  first time in my life that I have actually seen how a  stage show can be and should be. From the acting to the costumes, from the story to the props, everything about this stage show is exceptionally great and thanks to media and the people, who are playing their part well, the show is getting a respectable coverage as well.

551895-Dhaani-1369062709-286-640x480

Though, I had not personally seen the show yet, it has been recommended by two friends of mine that it is a must-watch show. It is, however, more than a treat to see an immense development in the field which was left neglected by the cream of the society, further taking it into darkness.

551895-Dhaani-1369062679-893-640x480

Try watching Dhani which would reach its end on May 31st, plan your schedules to see the first brick been laid towards the revival of the Pakistani Theatre!

Dhaani Episode 21 – Last Review!

Ohkay so, this episode sealed the deal for me that this is going to be the last episode of Dhaani that I am going to watch & the last review that I am going to post. I think I want to leave this drama for those viewers who are still enjoying it because as a reviewer, it is giving me absolutely nothing to talk about & it is becoming burdensome for me to tune to it every week when I am so not looking forward to it. I think if I will keep on speaking about it negatively, it will affect those viewers who are still a fan of this drama & still tune to it because they find it a decent entertainment, so I want to stop for their sake & for my sake too. I think the director & the producers should jump with joy that they have crossed the 20th episode mark, because where they have earned some profits, the viewers have lost interest in the show!

Half of this episode was dedicated to some deep & philosophical conversations that were happening between a duo of drunkards Babu Bottle & Sameer & I most certainly had zero interest in listening to them because I knew by not paying heed to their conversations, I won’t be missing much. It is actually amusing to be honest how these guys have become all philosophical after failing at life in general. I know the writer has tried really hard to make Sameer look like a hero but I am not sure if it is because of Sami Khan or the character of Sameer, everything about him is so off-putting & screams lazy to me that I just don’t enjoy watching this character at all.

Dhaani girl, you need to get your act together. As much as I like/liked Dhaani, I am so not a fan of her weird attitude. Dhaani has become this angry bird & is just so unhappy & bitter in general that it is not fun to watch. First off, it was her own mistake that she fell for guy like Sameer who was morally & ethically weak, then it was her mistake where she couldn’t honestly tell her father that she was involved with him, then again it was her mistake that she agreed to get engaged to Amjad, so now if Amjad was trying to have a conversation with her like her fiancé, I just didn’t understand why she was just so bitter about the entire scenario. Yes, I understand she has zero interest in Amjad so obviously she wasn’t thrilled with the idea of meeting him & having a conversation with him, but then again, she herself jumped into this relationship, so why does she expect things to be happening according to her weird mood? Amjad was not wrong in wanting to meet her, so not sure why she was so frustrated about the entire situation?

If Dhaani was heart-broken, she could’ve just said no to Amjad’s proposal so that she could’ve sulked for the rest of her life in stead of listening to her father & agreeing to this engagement. When she knew that she will never be able to respect her father’s decision & will also mistreat Amjad for the rest of her life, so why did she agree to get engaged? Like what good has she achieved or is she achieving out of this messy situation? I just can not believe that a character which started off at such a promising & unique note has come down to this where just because she is heart-broken for weird reasons to begin with, she has lost the will to live!?!?! Grow up girl!

After getting to know that Sameer was residing in the interior Lahore, Riyasat & Rehan tried to turn this scenario into their favor where they believe that seeing how Sameer is mingling with everyone there, people will vote for Rehan, yawn! Not interested once again! For the first time, I was glad that this episode didn’t have the scenes of Raja & co. because they have damaged my eardrums enough already!

I am sure this episode must’ve worked for a lot of viewers & I totally accept & agree that they must’ve had their reasons but just because I am unable to keep my interest alive in the show, everything just seemed so burdensome & boring to me. So, at this stage I am not going to continue any further because even the preview didn’t give me anything to look forward to & I think I’ve had enough of Dhaani. Please share your thoughts!

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Dhaani Episode 20 Review – Absolutely Boring!

Ohkay so, props to the director for crossing the 20th episode mark, which was probably his main motive because other than that, I don’t see any justification or rational reasoning behind dragging a story like Dhaani which has practically nothing left to offer now. I hate to see a drama which started off at such a good note getting down to this level where it is absolutely boring to watch & is being stretched to a point where it hardly interests me anymore.

Sameer is struggling & Niyaz is supporting him, so, is there anything new to it, no, because this is what we saw in the previous episode too!!! I can not believe the gang or the group of boys that once used to be so much fun to watch was becoming so hard to tolerate that I had to forward the scenes in which they appeared & yes I am talking about Raja & his friends. The needless screaming is a bit too hard to handle & even their conversations are so repetitive that I know they’d be obsessing over Sameer, without even listening to them! Yes, we get it, Raja & his friends want to protect Dhaani & want to prove a point, but I guess they have done it a lot of times before too, so there’s no need to do that again & again because it serves no purpose whatsoever. I think this was done deliberately that Raja’s character was reduced from being a supportive cousin to a mere goon in order to make Sameer look good & a better option for Dhaani because I remember there was a time when I was actually rooting for Dhaani & Raja, but not anymore. Also, I still haven’t developed any sympathy for Sameer’s character, may be because I have Hammad’s character from Khuda Aur Mohabbat as a better option, so I am definitely going to prefer Hammad’s journey over Sameer’s!!!

Bee Jee agrees to Amjad’s demand of meeting Dhaani once & I am sure after finding out that Sameer is the guy who Dhaani is in love with, he will call his engagement with Dhaani off himself, since he is too good & too sweet & too seedha & too boring. It is actually quite frustrating that Dhaani who was running the entire show single-handedly has just become like a shadow hovering around behind the closed doors. I don’t think it was a wise move of the director or the writer for that matter to actually make Dhaani invisible only to give Sameer the coverage which still isn’t doing anything for the viewers to form a connection with him!

This episode was repetitive & boring to be honest. I really think they need to wrap this drama up may be in a couple of episodes because they have taken way more time than required to cover a story like this, which is nothing but a different version of Khuda Aur Mohabbat. The only difference is that this one is going to have a happy ending, which sadly will come at such a point when the viewers will be leasttt bothered about it! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani!

Dhaani Episode 19 Review – End It ASAP!

Ohkay so, I hate to say this but Dhaani drama has come to a point where it is becoming hard for me to sit through its episodes. The pace of the drama has slowed down considerably & there is nothing that the drama is offering from the last 4 – 5 episodes. I think the story of the drama was best suited for 16-18 episodes but as usual the habit of stretching the drama has changed the way I used to look at this drama. This is one of the reasons why I procrastinated watching Dhaani because it is getting harder for me to give this drama a go & I am dreading tuning to the next episode of this drama already!

So, Sameer finally landed himself a job & Amjad seems pretty impressed with how Sameer is performing. Sameer has already gotten into Amjad’s good books so I won’t be surprised if after getting to know that Dhaani is the guy Sameer is in love with, Amjad will back off!

The initial part of the episode involved a lot of yelling & screaming which I most certainly can not tolerate. I know it was required to showcase the emotions that everyone in Dhaani’s family is going through when it comes to Sameer, but that’s not something that I sign up for when I tune to a drama, so it was such a put-off for me. Babu Niyaz ended up facing the brunt for giving a place to Sameer to live & the way he pleaded Sameer’s case was actually quite reasonable & rational. It is his home & he is entitled to bring anyone in, as his tenant or as his friend, that is why those who sat together to come to a conclusion about this matter couldn’t really say much as Niyaz had a point!

Raja’s friends attacked Sameer in Raja’s absence, that is why Kaleem couldn’t understand who it was that hurt Sameer & for what reason. Kaleem has zero sympathy for Sameer as he suffered a lot of embarrassment because of him, but I don’t really understand one thing, Kaleem only heard things from Rehan but he never really tried to get to know why Dhaani’s name got involved or linked with Sameer? It is good to know that he trusts his daughter but at least Kaleem should get into the detail of the matter to find out what is it that has forced Sameer to leave everything behind & most importantly who is it that Sameer is doing all this for, because may be that way, he will stop being so rigid towards him & might as well consider getting Dhaani married to someone she is not in love with.

It is actually quite sad to see Dhaani being fizzled out in the background from last so many episodes, like she was the girl who had a personality, had some dreams & had this persona, but it is sad to see her turning into a sobbing-queen whose only motive in life was to fall for a guy & get married to him, because now when things have become shaky and unfavorable, she is seen crying all over the place as if her life has ended!

Overall, this episode was way too slow & was quite boring as well. I really hope they finish this drama off soon & edit out the remaining episodes to fit the ending into the next couple of episodes as these many number of episodes are enough, in fact in my opinion they have exceeded a number that was required to cover a story like this. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani!

Dhaani Episode 18 Review – Wrap It Up Please!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani showed some progress but it upsets me a great deal that the pace of the drama has slowed down so much. Also, I am so not looking forward to the rest of the episodes of this drama because I don’t see it nearing an end any time soon, which is actually quite sad because a drama which was best suited for 18 episodes is now being dragged so much!

So, Sameer started trying his luck to get a kick-start with any sort of a job so that at least he could support himself but he was forced to face the reality that even if he has got nothing to do with his father, his father’s name will always remain attached to him. Sameer tried quite a lot of times but every single time he got the same answer because everyone was pretty much scared to employ him knowing which background he comes from. It was good to see that at least Sameer matured a bit & realized how harsh things in reality were. Sameer has lived quite a comfortable life & that is why everything was so new to him but luckily for him, he met a well-wisher who made things easier for him!

Sameer finally got a job but I am kind of surprised that Babu took him to the exact same place where Dhaani’s fiance Amjad works. Babu himself belongs to Dhaani’s area, he keeps an eye on everything & knows each & every single detail about what transpires in everyone’s life, so I won’t believe that Babu had no idea that it was Amjad who Dhaani was engaged to. Not sure if bringing Amjad & Sameer together was a coincidence or a well-thought out plan of Babu!

It is actually kind of sad that the girl who ruled the drama in the initial stages has now fizzled into the background. Dhaani is nowhere to be seen & I find it a little off-putting that there wasn’t much left in her character to offer after she fell in love with Sameer. It looks like Dhaani has now left everything & sulking is only what she does. Also, the talks about Dhaani & Amjad’s pre-poned wedding do not seem to do much because it looks like it will take some time to happen, which means that it will buy Sameer some time automatically! Raja found out that Sameer is living in his vicinity from now on & I am sure he won’t make things easier for Sameer. Raja will keep on confronting Sameer because he’d want to be sure of Sameer’s ulterior motive for which he moved to their area.

Overall, this episode was quite slow & as much as I liked watching this drama, it has now come to a point where it isn’t giving me much to talk about. For watching purpose, it sure is a great drama but with each passing episode, it is lacking the depth & detail needed by a reviewer to review it. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 17 Review – So Far, So Slow!

Ohkay so, honestly speaking, even though this drama is a good watch, but I really feel they have slowed the pace down a little too much. I really think they should also start airing Dhaani twice a week because the pace is so so so slow that you actually feel nothing is happening at this stage in the drama. I am actually dreading the fact that this drama will cross 20+ episodes.

I actually think with Khuda Aur Mohabbat being on air & the absolute similarities between the plots, the channel should’ve thought things through & they shouldn’t have aired both these dramas together at least, because while watching this episode, I was being reminded of Khud Aur Mohabbat again & again because both the male characters faced the same situation. I think the channel should have finished off with Dhaani before airing Khuda Aur Mohabbat because it made me feel that I was watching the latter with some tweaking & modern twist!

So, Kaleem wants Dhaani to get married to Amjad ASAP, that is why he sends a proposal to pre-pone the date. Dhaani feels burdened but has nothing much to say. I liked the conversation she & Raja had, Raja is the only one who knows her in & out, that is why he could feel something was definitely different about her but Dhaani brushed everything off her shoulder as she knew that Raja won’t be able to understand her feelings.

As expected, Riyasat put a lot of pressure on Rehan to make Sameer agree to get married to Maya otherwise he will withdraw all the money he invested in Rehan’s political campaign. Rehan knows that without Riyasat’s support, he won’t be able to win the elections, that is why he reminds Sameer of everything as to how his entire political career was depending upon his & Maya’s marriage. When Sameer chooses not to budge, Rehan demands him to pay him back every single penny that Rehan till date has spent on him & if he manages to do so, Rehan will not oppose his decision of not marrying Maya.

Sameer decides to leave the house & everything starting from basics to luxuries, which could make his father feel that he was still dependent on him. Sameer decides to seek his friend’s help in getting a job but the preview suggested that Riyasat will make sure Sameer doesn’t get a job so that after succumbing to the pressures he returns to his parents’ home & agrees to get married to Maya. It was good to see that at least there was one such family member; Sameer’s sister in law who supported him wholeheartedly. I hope she plays a role where she convinces Sameer’s parents to forgive him in the future. Rehan might think that by estranging Sameer, he will be able to score some brownie points in front of Riyasat, but soon enough Riyasat will let him know that he is far more ruthless than Rehan imagined & he wouldn’t even care much about what Rehan did to please him!

Overall, this episode was slow to the extent of being boring. I think Amjad’s family is getting way more coverage & their conversations are sadly so repetitive that the moment they show up on screen, I know that they will be fixating over Dhaani. The director has needlessly slowed the pace of the story down so much that it is getting harder for me to keep my interest alive in the show. The spark, the charm everything has been compromised upon & those were the factors that attracted the viewer’s attention in the first place. Dhaani would’ve been definitely interesting if Sameer’s character was as good as Hammad’s because then his journey filled with struggles would’ve been interesting to watch but somehow, not sure if it’s because of the writer or because of the director, I haven’t warmed up to the character of Sameer till date so to see such a turning point of his life still didn’t make any impact. I think the casting director just filled the drama with those actors who charged next to nothing because they are acting-free, be it Sameer’s sister in law, Sameer’s friend, Maya or even Maya’s father, all of them are so poker-faced that I wonder what are they doing on screen. Ayesha Sana is wasted & most of the times, it looks she’s going to burst into laughter because she is having such a hard time in emoting the concerns of a mother & even Asad seems as stiff as stone. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani & I so wish that the channel considers airing this drama twice a week!!!

Dhaani Episode 16 Review – Finally Sameer Takes a Stand!

Ohkay so, things have become quite interesting at this stage of Dhaani. I am glad they decided to move things forward but I really hope they keep up with the pace & don’t drag the story further because it’s about time that the drama should be wrapped up decently.

This episode was all about the pressures that Sameer & Dhaani had to face. Finally, Sameer decided to take the matter in his hands because he knew that it was because of his mistake that Dhaani’s father got insulted by his family. Sameer knows that in this entire scenario, neither Dhaani nor Kaleemuddin were at fault because where Dhaani was maintaining a distance from him, Kaleemuddin didn’t even have an idea about everything that was going on. For the first time, I liked Sameer’s courage & determination to make things right because it’s high time that he should know that everything that transpired was a result of his confusion & late realization. It is good that Sameer has finally understood that Maya is just his friend, whereas Dhaani is the love of his life.

Sameer thought by having a conversation with Kaleemuddin, he will be able to sort things out but he wasn’t allowed to do so by Raja & co. Raja has seen how his entire family suffered & how difficult things got for Kaleem, that is why his harsh reaction came naturally. In the middle of this, what I liked the most was that Raja immediately realized his responsibilities & showed his potential to Kaleem as to how far he can go to protect his family. It was good to see Kaleemuddin relying on Raja & being proud of his maturity with which he extended his support to Kaleem. Raja finally got a chance to show to Sameer that he won’t be given a chance to hurt Dhaani again, part of it was also because Raja himself was hurt after finding out that Dhaani was interested in Sameer!

Sameer had to face his father, Maya & also Riyasat but it was good to see that he didn’t waiver & put forth his feelings & stand like a man. Rehan obviously thought that Sameer would second guess his feelings after he will threaten him disownment but little does he know that it took a lot for Sameer to realize what he wants in his life, as in who he wants in his life, that is why that threat didn’t make much difference to Sameer as he knows that for his father, wealth & power means everything & he judges people based on that criteria too. Maya also got an answer by Sameer that she wasn’t expecting. Maya also got to know that for Sameer she was always a friend & he believes in maintaining that relation with her only. Maya’s reaction didn’t come as a surprise to me because by seeing how Riyasat has spoiled her, she can’t take no for an answer & she can never handle rejection gracefully. Riyasat also tried to threaten Sameer but it was of no use too because at this moment, Sameer has made up his mind & there is absolutely nothing that will stop him!

Kaleemuddin decides to pre-pone Dhaani’s wedding because of obvious reasons as he knows that if Sameer can make it to this area, it won’t take him long to make it to his house too & that will bring a lot of contemplation their way which he most certainly won’t be able to handle. Dhaani knows that she has no say in this matter because she herself said yes to Amjad’s proposal & now she can not back out especially because of a guy like Sameer who wasn’t interested in her in the first place.

Overall, this entire episode was done well. It is good to see Sameer’s stance regarding this entire situation. I can’t wait to see how he will convince his entire family & most importantly how he will win Kaleemuddin over because that is going to be a mammoth task. This drama has been quite interesting but I wish that the pace doesn’t slow down at this stage of the drama. The direction has been great & like I always say, I love the appropriate usage of the OST in those scenes where it is needed the most. All the actors have done a brilliant job & overall this drama is a complete entertainment package. Please share your thoughts about this interesting episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 15 Review – Intense & Interesting!

Ohkay so, things got intense in this episode & I am glad they are moving the story forward at a decent pace now. I do feel that this drama should end may be at the 18th episode because most of the twists & turns have been revealed & now there’s nothing much left. I think they have shown us a heart break & now all there’s left to show is how Sameer will take a stand for the sake of his lady love Dhaani.

Things went from bad to worse pretty quickly & that was all because of Sameer’s mistake. Sameer did get a chance to convey his feelings to Dhaani but little did he know that a storm was awaiting to overtake their lives. Maya has already been getting a tough time from Sameer so it was imperative that she would over react at what she saw. I once again feel it was Sameer’s mistake that he obediently agreed to get engaged to Maya when he was not in love with her. Sameer has realized his feelings for Dhaani now because his jealousy made him realize that he was in love with her, fair enough, but the way he reacted later still didn’t make me respect him tad bit as he once again came across as a very weak individual who had no courage to take a stand for Dhaani.

Maya obviously blew things out of proportion but even though Dhaani didn’t think much about it, things turned ugly just like Shaani predicted. Shaani was right in feeling that Maya would report the entire incident to her family & then the parents will get involved & then Sameer’s father will speak to Kaleem & this is exactly what happened. Everyone in this situation was only thinking about themselves but the people who were getting scrutinized were actually innocent. Rehan obviously knows that Riyasat has invested so much of money because he knew that Maya will get the returns after she will get married to Sameer, that is why he was furious as he didn’t want things to go wrong. At this point when Rehan & his wife were planning on telling everything to Kaleem, I actually thought that Sameer will take the entire blame on himself but he didn’t & just said that Maya was misunderstanding things. I think it was a right time for Sameer to tell his father that he was interested in Dhaani & not Maya but he chose to stay silent as he still hasn’t mustered up enough courage.

It was actually quite sad to see Kaleem getting insulted by Rehan for the mistake his own son was responsible for but even though I knew Kaleem will give a piece of his mind to his daughters, I liked how stood up for Dhaani in front of Rehan & gave a very stern reply to him for all the things he implied about her, it showed that Kaleem had a lot of trust in his daughters & even though he was strict, he was not so typical to be trusting an outsider over Dhaani. Sadly, Bee Jee had to face the wrath for Dhaani’s mistake but it was good that even then Kaleem didn’t doubt his daughter & chose to believe what she told him. I liked how the entire family came together in the hard times & stood by each other’s side. However, Dhaani is still suffering because she got the confession of Sameer but her entire family had to pay a heavy price for it as Kaleem not only got insulted but left the job too. I liked how Raja like a son lent a moral support to Kaleem, it is good to see Raja turning out to be so mature & responsible to make Kaleem rely on him.

I am glad that even before Rehan could use Kaleem as a scapegoat, Kaleem resigned himself & that was another defeat that Rehan had to face. It was a good message that Rehan received that Kaleem might have no wealth in his comparison, but he surely was a man of principles & he wasn’t someone so shameless who would tolerate someone blaming & maligning his daughter’s image just like that. Sameer chose to speak to his Bhabhi about the entire situation but right till the end he didn’t have the guts to confess his love for Dhaani in front of his father. I am looking forward to what his plan would be & how he will undo the pain & distress that his recklessness has caused to Kaleem’s family.

Overall, this episode of Dhaani was interesting too. I must say if there’s one drama in which they put the OST to good use it is Dhaani, they literally use it at such an appropriate situation that you really enjoy listening to it. I have said this before & I will say that again that if the character of Maya had such an important role in the story, then they should have hired someone who could actually act because the poor performance of the the girl playing the role of Maya was sticking out like a sore thumb in this episode which was filled with some powerpacked & intense performances by the rest of the actors. I really really hope that they don’t drag this drama anymore & end it may be in next couple of episodes. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 14 Review – A Little Too Slow!

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was on the slower side too. They are taking their sweet time in showcasing the heartbreak both Dhaani & Sameer are going through. It is somehow good to see that as much as Dhaani is suffering, Sameer is suffering too, but I guess it is time to move forward to the next phase of the story.

All of a sudden, the happy & chirpy young fellows like Dhaani, Shaani & Raja have forgotten how to smile because they all are struggling. Gone are the days when they used to have fun together because where Dhaani is heartbroken, so is Raja & in the middle of this Shaani is struggling too because she is seeing her two closest people in pain. Sameer managed to get a glimpse of Dhaani & he was shocked to see her getting engaged the same day. Obviously, Sameer became a lot more restless but Dhaani thought it was only because his ego was hurt. Dhaani is right in misjudging Sameer as after finding out how she was never in his heart, she hasn’t given a chance to Sameer to explain how much pain & regret he is feeling.

Sameer still hasn’t been able to put a finger on what he feels for Dhaani, that is why he wants to speak to her in a hope that may be she can help him understand his state of mind better. Sameer even went out of the way by arranging a gathering in the Purani Haveli in a hope that he will be able to meet Dhaani & explain things to her but that attempt went in vain. Sameer however did get to speak to Dhaani for a few seconds & I am sure he convinced Dhaani to speak to him at least once showing his eagerness. As much as Dhaani says she doesn’t want to be associated with Sameer, even she wants to know what he has to say & what he is going through because the moment she heard there was an event taking place in Purani Haveli, she grew a little impatient.

In this episode, apart from the heavy stuff, I am glad they have given us some lighthearted moments between Raja & his friends. I enjoy listening to their conversations a lot & it shows how much Raja’s friends love & respect him. Amjad & family got a lot of coverage in this episode too & it seems even Amjad is quite happy with his engagement with Dhaani. Even if Amjad doesn’t say, just like any other guy who gets engaged, he wants to be on talking terms with Dhaani too, that is why he is seen speaking against the restrictions that Kaleem has imposed on his daughters. To be honest, even though it is a done deal that Sameer & Dhaani will end up together, I would hate to see Amjad’s family getting hurt in the middle. Amjad is a decent guy & most probably he will back off or might end up with Shaani, I just hope the entire family doesn’t suffer because of Sameer & Dhaani’s immaturity & irrational decision making.

Overall, this episode didn’t offer much but I hope they take things forward in the episodes to come & end the drama without wasting a lot of time. The actors have done a brilliant job & so have the writer & the director. I like how they add a touch of compassion, respect & honesty among the people of the interior city. Their scenes always bring a smile on my face. The way Kaleem still apologized to the Halwai for Raja’s behavior was quite nice. Also, I think they shouldn’t have shot all the scenes of Sameer & his friend in the dance club, it looks like that have no other place to live. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 13 Review – Sameer’s Being Unreasonably Selfish!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was quite interesting because it balanced out the sufferings of both the people involved in something they don’t want to put a label on.

Dhaani had her bad experience after getting rejected but looks like even though Sameer is unhappy about how things are shaping up in his life, the main reason of his restlessness is Dhaani. Dhaani was down & depressed but what pushed her to the limit was when she heard from Shaani that Sameer wanted to speak to her for the very last time. Dhaani knows that there’s nothing that he can or he will do, so there’s no point in giving him another chance. Sameer has been unable to figure out what is bothering him, like is it the unnecessary pressure that his family has put on him or is it the void that Dhaani has left in his life, which is why he is getting quite anxious & angry as the days are passing by.

I liked the conversation Sameer’s sister in law had with him. She is probably the only person in the entire family who can not only understand but can relate to everything that Sameer is feeling because she herself has been through it all. It was good to see that Sameer had someone who he could confide in, that is why without even bothering much, Sameer just straight away told her that he wasn’t thrilled with the news of his & Maya’s engagement. Sameer is a free bird, that is something that we all know, but for the first time we got to know that Sameer doesn’t like the system of social climbing that prevails in his family. Sameer hates the idea of mixing personal & professional lives to reap the benefits out of it. Sameer & Maya’s engagement was another business deal that Rehan finalized without even asking Sameer because for him, Sameer’s happiness wasn’t important at all & that was something that put Sameer off big time!

Talk about the timing gone wrong, Dhaani had to get engaged the same day Sameer was getting engaged, that too in the same vicinity. I honestly didn’t like how easily Sameer agreed for this engagement, like he didn’t retaliate at all or didn’t try to buy himself some time for himself to sort things out in his life. Even though he wasn’t ready for a life long commitment, Sameer didn’t even try to tell his family the truth about his feelings for Maya & the only thing he made a fuss about was the venue of his engagement ceremony, which made me dislike his character even more. As far as not understanding what love means, Sameer is justified but when it comes to focusing on nominal things & not taking a stand for the right thing at the right time, Sameer seems quite immature & irrational. Sameer has been struggling emotionally since the day his family announced his engagement & he has been quite rude with Maya too, so I don’t understand what’s the point of obediently accepting something that he’s not into? Now when Maya is all happy, Sameer will affect her life by being rude to her & by being aloof to her feelings, which she most certainly does not deserve. I know things are not that easy but if Sameer didn’t love Maya & also he couldn’t bluntly refuse his family, he could at least buy himself some time to think things through because now when he will call his engagement off in the future, it will cause more hurt to Maya & to both the families involved. I feel Sameer chose to stay quiet for the wrong thing at the wrong time!

I loved the way Raja snapped out of his depression to make Shaani & Dhaani smile. He is such a selfless guy & I admire the lengths he goes to for the sake of his cousins. I wish Kaleem could understand how nice Raja is & hadn’t been so hard on him because that way Bee Jee could’ve told her brother about Raja’s feelings for Dhaani. Even though I know it’s not going to happen but I’m still rooting for Raja & Dhaani’s union because I still don’t think Sameer’s worth it & he also proved that he is quite selfish by the unreasonable demand he put forth in front of his friend. Now that Sameer has had this emotional awakening all of a sudden, he will end up hurting Dhaani, her entire family & Amjad’s family too, which to be honest none of them deserve to go through.

Overall, this entire episode was pretty decent but I wish to see some progress in the story & some happening episodes in the future. All the actors have done an amazing job & the director has beautifully directed this play. I feel even the supporting actors have done their bit well but the girl playing the role of Maya is quite weak in terms of acting. I know she was hired to play a certain kind of a role but I guess any girl could’ve faked an accent because it’s the acting in general that is important & should be impressive & not a certain way of speaking of someone to be assigned a character to portray. I also wish the makeup artists had taken care of the actress playing Maya’s character because her complexion looks ashy & muddy & her face looks quite greasy in all the scenes, may be she was after a dewy look but it just didn’t work. I tried to avoid talking about that actress in the previous reviews but since she is getting so much of coverage at this stage, I just had to say it. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 12 – The Aftermath of The Storm!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was so beautiful & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I love the way the writer & the director have made sure in the previous episodes that the viewers form a connection with all the characters, because now when they all are going through a heart-break, we can’t help feeling for them. This happens when the writers put a heart & soul into all the characters that they write because that’s when you actually relate to them & their journey.

Dhaani, oh dear, you’re making one mistake after another. Dhaani’s first mistake was that she fell for a guy like Sameer who is immature & doesn’t understand the emotion of love & then her second mistake was agreeing to Amjad’s proposal without even thinking things through. May be Sameer never really put much thought into the fact that he needs a love in his life because all this while, he has been getting so much of attention that he grew comfortable with the idea that he will meet girls, befriend them & move on without having any strings attached. Like I have always said, the only reason why Sameer was intrigued by Dhaani was because of her look out on life. Sameer actually was fascinated by the idea of a girl, belonging to such a different world, having so much of courage & backbone to follow her heart but he never really explored what his heart felt about her.

Dhaani only started speaking to Sameer because she assumed that he was interested in her & will eventually get married to her because if she had known that he was never serious about her, she wouldn’t have given him an edge. Even though I am not a fan of Sameer but he seemed justified in his reaction when out of the blue he heard Dhaani speaking about marriage because it went to show that his attitude was not only like that with Maya but even with Dhaani & all the other girls he must’ve shared a friendship with. Dhaani was wrong rather gullible to think that he was her Mr. Right & he was only showing interest in her because he intended to marry her. That’s where the writer beautifully brought in the difference of perspective of people belonging to two different social classes. I know it can fall into the category of stereotyping but then I don’t really mind because it’s a love story & it is a drama, so for that matter, this is justified. Sameer never really understood & he didn’t even try to understand how much Dhaani was putting at stake for the sake of this friendship. Sameer didn’t even realize that Dhaani had so much of pressure on her & she was actually crossing the line & was exploiting the trust her father & her entire family had in her, why, because he belongs to such a social class where parents don’t put such pressures on their children. Sameer has lived his life like a free bird, that is why he couldn’t understand Dhaani’s harsh reaction & didn’t really get where she was coming from. Dhaani on the other hand believed that this relationship actually was a serious commitment for Sameer because she couldn’t even conceive of the fact that a random guy, who gave her his phone & who was going out of the way to spend time with her would just want to be her ‘friend’ & nothing else.

Well, Dhaani was forced to wake up & smell the coffee & when she realized that everything was a mistake & a farce, her dreams & her expectations were shattered. I loved the conversation Dhaani had with her sister, where in stead of blaming Sameer, she realized her mistake & said that she is mad at herself for doing everything for Sameer whereas she wasn’t his someone special. Dhaani is immature that is why in a weak moment, she agreed to Amjad’s proposal. I loved the scene that the entire family shared where Kaleem told Dhaani how she made him happy & Bee Jee tried to console her that she wasn’t going to leave this house immediately. I just loved that scene because it showed how decent, simple & humble Kaleem’s entire family was. They are very decent & simple people who still believe in keeping their word & till date give preference to ethics & morals.

Well, I liked the fact that after seeing Dhaani’s reaction & telling her what his thoughts were, Sameer’s heart wasn’t at ease. I loved how the tables have turned because first it was Dhaani who had a heart-break & now it was Sameer’s turn. Sameer was restless all this time & it looked like it was for the first time that Sameer was forced to explore what was in his heart & when he reflected, he realized that it was only Dhaani who could make him understand why he was feeling a certain way. Sameer’s family has finalized his & Maya’s marriage, but now I am looking forward to the time when Sameer will take a stand.

I loved the entire conversation that Raja & his friends had, it just showed how for people belonging to humble backgrounds, the emotions matter the most. Where Sameer’s family was using Sameer as a step for social climbing & were treating his marriage as a business deal, where they were thinking of melting people’s heart by conducting his engagement ceremony in interiors of the city & where they all seemed so superficial & emotionally absent materialistic robots, there were these guys who had nothing but compassion for each other & were worried for their friend Raja because they all were in touch with their emotional side. It was beautiful!

Overall, this entire episode of Dhaani was like a roller-coaster ride, it had emotions, it had drama, it had some amazing conversations & some very important realizations that were long due. Madiha Imam has done wonders as Dhaani & I think the casting director should take a bow for such a brilliant casting of all the actors as they all are doing a wonderful job. The director has given a perfect feel to this drama because where there’s so much of warmth in the scenes of Dhaani’s family, the family of Sameer seems so cold & everyone seems quite self-absorbed. The writer has done a brilliant job & has brought all these emotions & realities in such a perfect way. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 11 – The Calm Before The Storm!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was interesting too. Things are moving slowly & steadily but definitely more appropriately because all the aspects are being covered in great detail. I must say I am glad that we have a character development happening in this drama where we can actually see & understand the changes the characters are going through in different situations.

Well, Kaleem has started taking Amjad’s proposal seriously & it was imperative because Kaleem sees himself in Amjad. Amjad is well-groomed, well-refined & he is someone who is quite mature & has a composure in his personality & thinking that Kaleem appreciates. It was actually quite interesting how Kaleem decided to conduct a research on Amjad, because being a father, it was not only his duty but his right to be sure too. Kaleem couldn’t resist getting impressed by Amjad’s honesty & the reputation that he has maintained because Kaleem himself has lived a life based on such principles. It was actually good to see that Kaleem connected with Amjad immediately & felt that he was the man he would love to marry his daughter off to.

The entire phone controversy was covered really well. Amjad didn’t pay heed to the phone call he received because he is a rational person & a bit too intelligent to know that people were just spreading rumors. Kaleem also grew suspicious & he felt some discomfort too but he was mentally satisfied because Amjad assured him that such phone calls don’t really matter to him as he has pretty much made up his mind that he is going to go ahead with his parents’ decision of marrying Kaleem’s daughter Dhaani.

Raja got tipped on how Dhaani & Shaani took a ride from some stranger. Even though Shaani covered up really well, Raja could sense that something was definitely not right. I am sure Raja won’t sit still & he will try to probe further he will eventually end up finding about Sameer. I felt really bad for Bee Jee when Kaleem spoke to her about finding a right girl for her son. Bee Jee has seen how much Raja loves Dhaani & she knows how hard the news of Dhaani’s marriage will be on Raja but she can’t say or do much as she knows that Kaleem will never accept Raja as his son in law.

Even though Sameer is enjoying the attention that he is getting from Dhaani, he still doesn’t seem serious to me. For him, being associated with a girl like Dhaani is a short-term adventure that he is currently enjoying as he has never seen a girl like her who is so different & unique. Sameer’s family is definitely doing everything to get him hitched with Maya & I am not sure if he will be able to endure the pressure & say no for the sake of Dhaani. I liked how Shaani tried to make her sister realize that Sameer’s family will never approach Kaleem for Dhaani’s proposal since they both belong to different worlds but if only Dhaani’d understand, because if she does, she will be able to save not only herself but her entire family from getting hurt.

Overall, this episode was fun but I feel the pace has slowed down a little too much. They need to make some progress & I am assuming that things will spice up in the next episode when Dhaani will tell Sameer about Amjad’s proposal. The entire cast has done an amazing job & I must say, watching this drama & the vibrancy that it offers is mentally quite refreshing. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 10 – Interesting Planning & Plotting!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was interesting. Things are moving forward at a decent pace & I like how the situations keep on changing with every single episode. It just gives us an insight into all the characters in a very unique manner & tells us how family members stick by each others side in the times of need.

Dhaani, Raja & Shaani are wise but immature in a very admirable way. Even though they understand how Kaleem’s mind works & how rigid he is, they still snatch some moments of glory & score a big win in their favor. This episode revolved around the proposal predicament that was presented in front of Dhaani. It is so obvious that she has fallen for Sameer & that is why she is now going to do everything to be by his side, even if it means deceiving innocent Bee Jee or innocent people who show interest in her.

Dhaani took the matter in her hands & she decided to do everything she can to prevent Amjad Ali from showing up at her doorstep to seek her proposal from Kaleem. She started off by fooling Bee Jee once again by fabricating a lie but the more interesting thing that she did was how she partnered with Raja & asked for his help too. It is so amazing that Dhaani & Raja have this level of understanding where Dhaani knows that if there’s one person who will cross a river for her, it is Raja. Where Dhaani had her ulterior motive that Raja is unaware of, Raja also had an ulterior motive of helping Dhaani that she is unaware of as well. Raja actually got happy the moment he found out that Dhaani didn’t want to get married, because he thought that he stands a chance in Dhaani’s life now but little does he know that she is doing everything for Sameer.

I know in dramas where they have a love triangle, the writers focus more on showing the happy ending of a girl & the nicest guy who loves her ends up backing out just for the sake of happiness of the girl he loves. I have a feeling that may be Raja will back out too once he will find out about Dhaani & Sameer but after seeing both the guys & despite knowing that this won’t be happening, I am rooting for Raja & Dhaani because he genuinely is a nice guy & Sameer, not that much. I know Dhaani loves him for who he is but in this drama, I would love to see a guy getting a happy ending & not the girl, who has fallen for such a self-absorbed person. I actually thought that as the episodes will progress, I will understand & like Sameer’s character but that hasn’t happened till date & Dhaani clearly overshadows him. I like Raja better than Sameer for Dhaani, that is why I want to see them both ending up together because Raja has loved her & will continue to love her.

Well, Raja fulfilled the duty that Dhaani assigned to him with complete devotion as he knew that this would assure no marriage but the family of Amjad Ali paid no heed to the rumors they heard about her over the telephone & they came to put the proposal forward for Dhaani as they saw Kaleem’s decency & kindness. Dhaani found herself in deep trouble because even though she tried to prevent this from happening stealthily, she had to face Kaleem but luckily for her, even though Amjad’s family didn’t pay attention to the phone call they received, Bee Jee ended up conveying the things she heard from a stranger to Kaleem. I am sure Kaleem won’t ignore what Bee Jee told him because in any case he is trying hard to procrastinate the marriage of his daughters as he is not mentally ready for it & he has seen that ever since this proposal has been initiated, things have gone wrong one after another, so he will have all the reasons to say no to Amjad’s family.

Overall, this episode was quite interesting & I enjoyed watching it. I love the chemistry between Dhaani, Raja & Shaani, I love how they stick together as partners in crime & try to help each other to the best of their abilities, without questioning each other or without asking for explanations. The writer has written the script & the characters quite intelligently & I must say, the director has added a magical touch in this script through his flawless direction. Dhaani Episode 09 – Interesting Episode!

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was a little slow but it was interesting. It was more like a continuity of the scenes from the previous episode because the situations were still revolving around the same issue & that was Dhaani’s proposal. I like the effortlessness in the feel of this drama because it makes things seem quite casual yet enjoyable to watch.

Dhaani & Sameer’s relationship is flourishing. Sameer is finding himself doing things that he has never done before & even he himself never imagined that he would do, like waking up early morning only to see Dhaani. Sameer irks at the mention of Maya especially when someone links her name with his, because for Sameer she is just a friend but everyone around him, including his best friend can see that Maya is in love with him & even their parents aren’t oblivious of Maya’s feelings for him, however, the only person who fails to see that is Sameer himself because he has never felt that way for Maya. Sameer thinks his personal life is separate & there’s no place for Maya in it but his family thinks the opposite. Sameer is still in such a phase where he doesn’t want to come out of his comfort zone, that’s why the way he showed up late for the inaugural ceremony of his & Maya’s project together was a clear depiction of his mindset. Riyasat & Rehan think that this way, they will not only be able to pressurize their kids to step into practical life but will also be able to bring them closer but they are mistaken as Sameer is far more interested in Dhaani than anything or anyone else at this stage!

Dhaani is still not understanding that she is calling for all the trouble on herself. She can fool Bee Jee, she can lie to Raja & she can have all the support of Shaani but she will never be able to convince Kaleem because if he finds out what she is upto, not only his trust on his daughter will shatter, but it will compel him to take a step that Dhaani won’t be able to undo. Dhaani likes being with Sameer & more than that, she seems awestruck at his lifestyle, that is why she is not thinking things through & without even realizing, she is getting a bit too much involved in him. Dhaani’s feelings are coming across a bit more clearly that she has started liking Sameer, but I am still doubtful about Sameer’s feelings for her, like is he actually serious about her or he is just getting to know her because he is fascinated by the idea of how a girl from such a background can be so unique & different.

Kaleem appreciated Amjad’s approach & found him an honest person who was mature enough to admit his mistake & walk an extra mile to rectify the situation too. Everything that Amjad said made him look like a nice & genuine person & it was imperative that Kaleem found his apology heartfelt because this is what Kaleem resonates with the most. Kaleem himself is like Amjad, who believes in honesty & also believes in simplifying the situation, that is why everything that Amjad said was enough for Kaleem to know that he wasn’t lying & he was eager to earn his apology. I have a feeling that may be Kaleem will end up getting Shaani married to Amjad because I feel that Dhaani will retaliate & she won’t accept what her father will choose for her, obviously she won’t say that she is interested in someone but she will spin the situation in her favor. I do feel that Shaani might succumb to the pressures because she is far more simple minded than Dhaani.

Raja is still suffering from a heartache & that is why he was unable to concentrate & do things that he loves. However, I enjoy listening to Raja & his friend’s conversations, they are written nicely & bring in some light-heartedness to the drama. The note at which the episode ended made me feel that Dhaani will fall into some trouble or may be Raja will find out about Sameer, plus honestly speaking, I hope to see something happening at least because it’s time to move things forward & show us what Sameer is made of & what he can or will do if he finds Dhaani in an awkward situation.

Overall, this episode was covered nicely too & I had a great time watching it. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 08 – Amazing Chemistry Between All The Characters

Ohkay so, this episode was a tad bit slow but I still enjoyed watching it because this drama has made me form a connection with all the characters that I enjoy seeing them on screen & I enjoy watching what they’re upto. I like how things are moving forward with each passing episode & every situation is covered nicely.

Like any concerned mother, Bee Jee made Kaleem conscious about the fact that he has two daughters who’re approaching the age of marriage, therefore he should be paying heed to that aspect of their lives too. Even though Kaleem comes across as a very stern & rigid person, for the first time we saw that just like every other loving father, the thought of his daughters leaving him after their marriage made his eyes tear up. Kaleem might not say or express, but he loves his daughters a lot & he is always concerned for their well-being. Shaani is mature so I am sure she won’t put her father through hardships, but as far as Dhaani is concerned, I am sure she is not only going to suffer alone, but she will make everyone around her suffer too & I am dreading that moment the most as I’ll hate to see such loving & caring people getting hurt because of Dhaani’s mistake of falling for a guy like Sameer.

Maya is over the moon that Sameer & she will be working together & running a business together but Sameer doesn’t seem interested. I am amazed that even after Sameer has given her such clear signs, Maya is turning out to be quite a half-wit who can’t really see that he is not into her at all. Even though Dhaani has been trying to conceal her feelings, but she is at the stage where she wants to explore the world that Sameer belongs to & that is only because of Sameer. Sameer makes Dhaani’s heart flutter & she hasn’t told Shaani about it but this is the reason why she looks forward to his phone calls & hasn’t returned his phone to him even after talking about it time & again.

Bee Jee arranged a proposal for Dhaani but just because they couldn’t show up, Kaleem who already was looking for an excuse turned their negligence into a reason for refusal of their proposal as he still isn’t mentally ready to marry his daughter off. Raja obviously didn’t take the news well but I most certainly didn’t see it coming. I thought Raja was just disheartened because he thought that no one cared to tell him about the proposal as a family member but the actual reason that made him sad was because he himself likes Dhaani to an extent that he wants to get married to her. It is actually quite nice to see that even though Raja has had feelings for Dhaani, he has never made it obvious or he has never made Dhaani uncomfortable. He just enjoys being around her & he is comfortable in liking her from a distance. The scene between Bee Jee & Raja was quite emotional. Bee Jee knows that Kaleem will never accept Raja’s proposal for Dhaani as he doesn’t hold a high regard for him, but being his mother, she also could understand Raja’s heart-ache because he would lose such a nice girl like Dhaani.

Dhaani has taken a step further into this relationship, where she is ready to fool everyone in her family just so that she can spend time with Sameer. Sameer is interested in Dhaani but for now Dhaani is awestruck that a guy like Sameer is giving her so much of attention. I still am not sure about Sameer’s intentions because may be for him, Dhaani is just a deviation but for Dhaani, Sameer is the first guy who has given her the attention that she as a girl likes, so that is why even at this stage, Dhaani seems more interested in this relationship because she is putting everything on the line to be with him.

Overall, this episode was really nice but a little on the slower side, however, I still enjoyed watching it. I love the chemistry between all the actors, it’s like they have really lived together as a family & that is why their bonding comes across as genuine & heart-felt. The direction of the drama has been amazing too & the acting of all the actors as well. I love the usage of the OST because they don’t rely too much on it & just use it when it suits the situation the best. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Dhaani.

Dhaani Episode 07 – Still Going Strong!

Ohkay so, this episode of Dhaani was interesting too. I liked how they gave us an insight into Sameer’s life & his personality. Also, all the situations added more fun in this episode & everything is making this drama a good watch.

Sameer has started showing more interest in Dhaani, more than he imagined because he never really thought that he will meet a girl like her at such a random place & will develop a liking for her. Sameer has pretty much stopped doing what he used to because his focus has shifted to something & someone more meaningful in his life, therefore Dhaani’s the only one he is thinking about now. Sameer knows that he & Dhaani are poles apart in terms of family backgrounds, in mentality, in lifestyles but he still feels everything else is meaningless because Dhaani is not meant to live a life that she’s living currently.

I liked the conversation Sameer & Tanveer’s wife had, because if there’s someone who can relate to Sameer’s feelings & understand what he is going through, it is Tanveer’s wife because even she has been through the same phase in her life where she had to get married to someone only because her parents saw this marriage as a business deal. Sameer’s Bhabhi knows that Sameer’s & Maya’s marriage is another business deal that their parents have finalized & are now expecting both of them to follow through & may be that’s why, Sameer’s bhabhi tried to show him the brighter side of the picture that despite being business deals, such marriages can work. Maya might be happy with how her father is doing everything to make sure she gets married to Sameer because she herself likes him a lot but for Sameer, it is just a compromise that he’ll have to do as he is not into Maya & his attitude with her clearly tells the tale of his lack of interest in her!

Finally, Raja got busted for which he got a good dose from Kaleem & Bee Jee, but it was good to see that they both gave Raja a fair chance to explain himself & then understood his version of the truth too. Raja did pay attention to Dolly but he never promised that he’ll marry her. I felt bad for Dolly but more than that, I felt bad for her parents especially her father. I loved the way he brushed everything under the carpet & told Kaleem to go easy on Raja as he is a nice guy. Dolly’s father respects Kaleem a lot & that is why he didn’t want to cause any distress to him, for which he backtracked from everything silently as he understood that things weren’t meant to be. I love how they have shown a quotient of respect & mutual understanding between the people of interior Lahore, even though they all life their lives separately, they still are bound by the emotions of love & respect for each other.

Dhaani has also started thinking about Sameer, may be because he’s the first guy who has given her that sort of attention & that is why she is unable to resist his charm. I wish that Sameer changes himself for Dhaani, in stead of expecting her to change herself & go out of the way for him. I hope that Sameer will respect Dhaani’s personality & most importantly her rawness for which he fell for her in the first place. I hope that he won’t change her into someone she is not & expect her to abide by his conditions.

Riyasat, Tanveer & Rehan are doing everything to bring Maya & Sameer closer so that they find no window to escape each other. Riyasat is quite demanding despite being a daughter’s father may be because he knows that in business & social standing, he has an upper hand in comparison to Rehan, that is why he is expecting them to go by his orders & demands. Sameer has given enough signals to Maya that he is not into her & I hope that she understands that before things become ugly between them & between the two families. I am not sure if Sameer will be able to handle the pressures of both the families when he will finally come clean that Dhaani’s the reason why he is not getting married to Maya!

Overall, this episode was amazing with some fun moments. I loved the conversation Bee Jee, Dhaani & Shaani had where Bee Jee reminisced about her wedding day. This is what usually our elders do & this happens to be the best story time for the youngsters & that is why I related to that scene & enjoyed it the most. I am so glad that this drama has turned out to be so good & every episode brings joy with it. Please share your thougths about this episode of Dhaani.
