Saba Qamar made waves with her Bollywood debut back in 2017. The actress starred opposite Irrfan in a movie titled Hindi Medium. It was based on the obsession of society with English medium schools and how parents go long lengths to make that happen for their children. Saba Qamar played the mother of the girl in the first instalment and was applauded for her outstanding performance.

Later came a ban on Pakistani stars in India and the second instalment of the film also got delayed a bit due to the illness of Irrfan who was out of the country for treatment. Now, the sequel is all set to be made and Saba has been replaced by Kareena Kapoor Khan. The film will show the daughter as a teenager now and Kareena may be playing the role of a cop.

Saba’s replacement is however confirmed but Kareena has big shoes to fill after Saba’s smashing performance!

The whole country was shaken a few days ago when the case of torture on Asma Aziz came forward. The woman named Asma filed a case against her husband who had beaten and humiliated her as well as shaved her head for not dancing in front of his friends. The torture on the lady was proved by her medical reports. However, a friend of her husband released an old video of hers where she was seen dancing among many people.

This caused a debate over the case all over the country and people have been giving all sorts of opinions about her. Sanam Saeed took to Twitter and gave her two cents on the situation. She very rightfully explained the meaning of consent to many out there and also said that nothing can justify the torture she bore. This is what Sanam said:

Lux Style Awards 2019 nominations are out and many people are unhappy with the nominations. Mohsin Abbas Haider has already spoken his mind and showed his disappointment on his show Meri Guriya not getting even a single nomination. People are pissed about Suno Chanda’s writer Saima Akram Chaudhary not getting a nomination. Producer Abdullah Seja has now also taken to Facebook and has asked the Jury about many projects who he thought should have been in the nominations lists.

He asked about Faysal Qureshi not getting a nomination for Haiwan and also Saheefa Jabbar Khattak not getting considered for her drama which had a powerful subject. Finally, he is also unhappy about the hit show Koi Chand Rkah not even getting a single nomination in the LSAs. This is what he had to say:

Many people are disappointed with the LSA nominations that have come out. People have complained that many deserving people and projects were snubbed by Jury and they have been asking questions that why they were not considered. Among all this, Ahmed Ai Butt has gotten the nomination for Best Actor in JPNA2. Ahmed’s character as Miana was loved by everyone who watched the movie and he got a lot of appreciation.

Well, many people started asking why Humayun wasn’t nominated to which Humayun Saeed has replied that Ahmed deserved the nomination more than anyone from the cast of JPNA 2. Teefa In Trouble made a record opening and the film has not slowed since its release in July last year. Teefa In Trouble went on to become the biggest non-Eid release of the Pakistani cinema. Ali Zafar and Maya Ali both made their Lollywood debut with Teefa In Trouble and the action-comedy has been unstoppable. The film is still in cinemas after so many months and it just crossed the 50 Crore mark.

The trade between Pakistan and Saidi Arabia will be increasing after the visit of Saudi crown prince to Pakistan and alongside that cultural exchange, will be increased between the two countries too. Saudi Arabia is going through a major image transformation in decades as women have been permitted to drive and cinemas are now open to the public again after years.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry has announced that Pakistan will be playing a role in increasing arts in Saudi Arabia and we will also be exporting our dramas to the country. This is what he said during a press meet:

“We have well-reputed performing art academies in the country and as Saudi Arabia is focusing on establishing new academies for performing arts, we would want to extend the support of our artists including actors, film directors as well as calligraphers. e are also working on arranging Arabic dubbing of local TV dramas that will soon be exported to Saudi Arabia. In addition, we also expect Saudi Airlines to include Pakistani dramas as part of their in-flight entertainment content.”

There will be a cultural mela arranged in Saudi Arabia too for Pakistanis living there where they can come and enjoy different arts!

Hania Amir is in the news these days a lot because of the speculations about her and singer Asim Azhar’s relationship. The couple has not confirmed anything and even Asim dodged the question when he was asked about it in an interview. Hania is being seen on the television these days in the drama Anaa where she as also sung the title song for the show.

So, a heated debate has been going on among Sohail Javed and Jami since Sohail filed a defamation suit on him. So, it started when Jami read a letter written by a 19-year-old girl who had faced harassment and rape at the hands of a well-known director at the Lahooti Melo. The letter did not name any names, neither of the victim nor of the criminal. But a few days back, Sohail Javed dragged Jami to court over the letter saying that Jami has false;y accused him of sexual harassment.

Jami’s legal team has also taken up the case and released a statement after the court hearing asserting that Jami will:

“contest legal proceedings against him, with full fervour as the Court passed an interim order dated 26.03.2019 for both the parties to maintain status quo.”

The statement further said that the court also observed that no names were named in the social media post about the crime. Sohail Javed, on the other hand, thinks that the allegation was a direct hit on him as he spoke to Express Tribune:

“Let me be very clear on this: I will not drop the case. We have been asked to maintain status quo. I’m just practising my legal right. The other party is claiming that there weren’t any names taken but it was a very direct hit.”

The next hearing of the case is on 6th April. Let’s see how it moves forward!

Many Pakistani films are in the pipeline to get released this year. Bot the Eids will be seeing some big releases. Well, Eid ul Fitr is definitely a lot crowded with three films to get their releases. The most anticipated The Legend of Maula Jatt will be coming out this Eid ul Fitr while two comedy dramas, Chhalawa and Wrong No. 2 will be coming out too. Chhalawa is the third film by Wajahat Rauf and it is starring Mehwish Hayat, Azfar Rehman, Asad Siddiqui and Zara Noor Abbas in the lead roles.

The first teaser of Chhalawa is out and it shows a lot of wedding festivities and colours along with some drama and emotions. We are definitely going to get a lot of dance numbers too. Check out the first teaser of Chhalawa:

It is always great to see celebrities giving back to the community and this urges many others out there to take time out from their schedules and spend it in a quality manner. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is an artist who has made a name for himself worldwide and has also made Pakistan proud at many International platforms. He took forward his family’s name and made it even bigger. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has performed at the ceremony for Nobel Prizes and has a hall named after him at the University of Oxford among many other awards.

Now, he will be conferred upon a new honour as he will be awarded an honorary degree at the University of Oxford on the 26y of June at a ceremony called Encaenia. This is what was said about him:

“Born into a family whose name has become synonymous with South Asian musical tradition, he began formal training at the age of seven and has since released more than fifty albums, performed in numerous high-profile concerts across the world, and amassed a global following, achieving over one billion views online.”
