Aabro Is The Story Of Another Spoiled Girl With No Morality

0

Drama Serial Abro which started on HUM last night has some big names attached to it. The writer is Qaisra Hayat, Umera Ahmed has written the screen play for the drama and has also edited the script and the director is Illyas Kashimri, another big name in our drama industry. When there are such big names attached to a drama you expect something decent and responsible if not perfect. Aabro is unfortunately another story that is based on showing a spoiled girl who is talking on the phone with boys all the time, brags with her friends about her boyfriends and has no respect for her mother who works day and night to make sure that her children get a good life and are well qualified. Watching this first episode will make you question why is showing such girls in our dramas so important and why are these girls playing leading roles in dramas?

abro

The following clip from the drama shows Aabro having a fun chat with her friends. It is disappointing to see our dramas showing such things like they are common practice and what is even more disappointing is that this drama is titled after the name of this girl who is hardly a role model for anyone. What are we showing in our dramas and what are we trying to tell our girls? Are we saying that all of this is okay? Are we saying that all this is normal? In almost every play nowadays we see girls showing no respect for their parents and going after rich men. The channels are glorifying something which should be shunned. This is not a way to create awareness or showing reality but this is like spreading immoral behavior. If you haven’t watched the first episode, watch the clip and decide for yourself.

Aabro – The End!

Ohkay so, finally after so many weeks Aabro ended & I am glad that the writer didn’t disappoint us in the end & gave us a complete ending that the viewers were hoping for. However, I do believe that in stead of showing the elders, they should’ve shown the youngsters more focused on their education, careers & future, but nevertheless, it’s all well when it ends well.

It was good to see that everyone around Aabro & Afsheen started to realize that Aabro raised Afsheen properly. Abid was always forced to draw a comparison between Fauzia & Aabro’s upbringing & for the right reasons because he could see that Fauzia never really paid attention to their children like Aabro paid to her one & only daughter. Then after Abid, it was Samra who couldn’t help notice how groomed & well-brought up Afsheen was in comparison to Ahmed & Aima. What I liked the most about the last episode was that they showed how a good attitude can force people to change their thinking, yes, it is a slow process & it doesn’t pay off quickly but in the end it works because a good attitude never goes unnoticed. It only took a few weeks for Samra to realize that Aabro raised Afsheen properly & did everything she could to make sure that Afsheen doesn’t turn out to be like her mother.

Ahmed decided to elope with Afsheen because he knew that his grandmother Zubaida won’t ever let him get married to Afsheen & somehow Afsheen gave in to the pressure too because she was scared that Zubaida will forcefully get her married to the uncle who wasn’t her match at all. I liked how in the end they showed that everyone realized their mistakes & also understood the circumstances that they created were the the main reason why Ali & Aabro eloped in the first place. Sakina realized that it was her decision of getting Aabro married to a peon that forced Aabro to leave the house & take such a huge step, that is why that conversation between Aabro & Sakina somewhat convinced Afsheen that she was right in her decision of eloping with Ahmed because the circumstances weren’t doing a favor upon them, which later changed but initially it was exactly what Afsheen wanted to hear to put her mind & heart to ease that hers & Ahmed’s decision was right.

Zubaida didn’t change at all & she continued to be stern & rigid with Ali, she made sure to let Ali know that he could only redeem himself if he sacrificed the happiness of his only child in order to please his mother. Zubaida never really allowed anyone to have a soft spot for Ali’s family in their hearts that is why when she saw Tayyaba & Samra speaking in Ali’s favor, she brushed it under the carpet & tried to talk them out of the sympathy they were feeling for Ali, Aabro & Afsheen.

Finally, Aima paid the price for maturing up way before her age & that is why she landed herself in deep trouble where her family had to get involved too. She might be innocent but this was exactly the wake-up call & a reality check that Fauzia along with Zubaida needed in order to realize that they were wrong. Even Samra couldn’t resist confessing that Fauzia was supposedly the one who belonged to their own family but still she couldn’t raise her children with the same morals & values that their mothers endorsed.

Coming to the final conversation between Afsheen & Ahmed which changed everyone’s perspective, I must say it was written beautifully. All the things that Afsheen said went to show that Aabro & Ali succeeded in raising her up properly & she made sure to let Ahmed know that at times it is important to put everyone else’s happiness ahead of your own because that’s exactly what brings more happiness & satisfaction to you. All the things Afsheen said made Zubaida realize how wrong she was all this while & it was good to see her realizing her mistakes & taking an initiative of apologizing to Aabro because she knew she put her through so much that she didn’t deserve at all. The ending scenes of the drama were good & what I loved the most was the mention of Afsheen & Ahmed’s education that was stated by Abid. I so wanted to hear either Ahmed or Afsheen say that it was important for them to educate themselves in order to be able to help their families but that thing was taken care of by Abid, which was a huge relief.

Overall, the message of the drama was good but it would’ve made a bigger impact if they had kept it short & to the point because when dramas like Aabro that have a very been-there-seen-that sort of a feel to them end up getting dragged, that’s when they lose the charm & make it hard for the viewers to keep their interest alive in the show. I wish in stead of showing Zubaida’s realization in the last episode that too for the first & the last time, they had shown her realizing her mistakes in a few other episodes too because that way her apology would’ve made more impact & would’ve looked more heart-felt. Also, I do feel that they shouldn’t have shifted the focus away from the education because that was an even more important message that needed to be conveyed. Anyways, massive props to all the actors for performing brilliantly & doing justice to their characters. I liked the acting of the actors playing the characters of Afsheen & Ahmed the most. Eeshal was good as Aabro too but I hope she works on her dialogue delivery & improves her acting the next time we get to see her in her new project. Noor Hassan did a pretty decent job as Ali & Farah Shah gave the character of Zubaida everything she could to make her seem so detestable & despicable. Overall, it was a good drama that went haywire in the end but surprisingly ended at a good & a complete note which served as a redemption. Please share your say about the overall journey of Aabro.

Cheers,

ps: My Dear Readers, Ramzan Mubarik & also thank you for being so patient with me. I have finally returned from Umrah, but I am now recovering from fatigue & sadly suffering from viral fever, so as I thought that I will resume reviewing the moment I will return from Umrah is now seemingly a bit difficult for me. I am in Middle East with my family for a week & will be returning to Australia just in a few days, so I will definitely get back to reviewing & cover all the missed reviews once I’ll arrive in Sydney Insha Allah. Thank you for being so understanding. :) Missed talking to you guys!

Aabro – Episode 22!

Ohkay so honestly, it is getting harder & harder for me to sit through the episodes of Aabro now because even though they are heading towards the end, this is definitely not what we all were looking forward to. I remember there was one such episode that promised that Aabro as a drama might be a bit different than what we all usually see but nope, they have taken it down to such a typical path that I see no point or no purpose of the story whatsoever. Also, I am sure this won’t come as a shocker but I am thoroughly disappointed & also disgusted at how the writer has forced in the issue of marriage in the younger lot’s lives, like if she wanted to show that, they should’ve shown a time span of 25+ years, at least that way all these infants; Afsheen, Ahmed & Aima would’ve gotten enough time to grow up & be at a shadi-appropriate age & the writer would’ve saved herself from coming across as someone who is so fixated with the idea of wedding that she can’t think of anything better as right now how I see it, the only solution to all the problems that the writer has whether they are related to Aima, Ahmed or Afsheen is SHADI!

I didn’t enjoy watching this episode one bit & by the end I was at the verge of dozing off because this episode was not only slow but was boring as well. I find it amusing that Zubaida is in a deep slumber when Aima & Ahmed are screaming their lungs out when they’re trashing each other’s reputation but the moment she sees Afsheen even walking around, she doesn’t leave an opportunity & starts hovering around like a bad-rooh to haunt & taunt Afsheen. I wish if Zubaida had paid more attention towards Ahmed & Aima, she wouldn’t have worried about Afsheen as she is far more tameez-daar & gharelu than her favorite grandchildren.

Oh well, usually when I speak about getting annoyed, I refer to the ‘characters’ but this time around it’s the actor that has irritated me like anything & that is the girl playing the role of Aima. I don’t know her name nor do I wish to know but she is so annoying that I can’t stand her. Also, I am amazed that the writer has also pushed in the cards of Aima’s marriage, her boyfriend; their dating & their discussions of diamond jewelry whereas a toddler like her should be asking her mother about which brand of lip balm should she buy & which baby-lotion she should use. I am actually amazed at the writer’s perspective here that just because Fauzia has found out that Aima is in ‘louuuuu’ with a guy, she is now bent on getting her married to save herself from shame. What sort of a message the writer is trying to give here? Also, if this is the level of Fauzia’s typicality then why did the writer show her as a broad-minded socialite who was modern & liberal, when the child-marriage is all that she could think of when it comes to dealing with the problems her batameez beti is putting her up with? It is funny that Fauzia babysits & protects Aima who is the most ill-mannered & out of control kid ever seen but when it comes to Ahmed, Fauzia is far more strict with him than she should be just because he likes Afsheen?

Honestly, the conversation that Ali & Aabro had about their ‘Ek Hi Bhool’ & the brunt of the ‘saza’ that their child was facing was quite boring & has become repetitive. We know that Ali & Aabro believe that what they did was wrong. We know that till date no one has forgiven them for choosing to get married to each other. We know that nothing in their life will change ever, so what’s the point of showing us the same thing over & over again? Also, I am kind of getting tired by having my hopes high that things will change for Ali & Aabro but seems like the writer is making the most out of their misery because the misery is what brings them the ratings I believe!!!

Of all the people, I thought Abid was different & I am now amused at my assumption where I thought Abid will change Fauzia’s rude behavior but seems like it is Fauzia that changed Abid & turned him into a negative character too. Fauzia was a stronger kharbooza in this couple & Abid was a copy-cat because all the things he said to Ahmed came as a shock to me. He spoke about Ali & Aabro’s ‘kirdaar’ whereas I guess 20 or so years are more than enough to judge a person & know them in & out, but Abid still believes that their character isn’t good & Afsheen is not a good choice for Ahmed because of the things Ali & Aabro did? LOL! Does this even make sense? I thought may be Abid will be the one who will change everyone’s behavior towards Ali & Aabro but looks like even he has lost his senses. He has now started thinking & speaking like Fauzia that is why he thought it was a good idea to get Afsheen married to the son of his friend as this will assure that she will walk out of Ahmed’s life too!

I must say I got disappointed at the things Afsheen said to Ahmed too. She was telling him about the ‘samaaj ki deewar’ between them & reminded him about his maan baap ki objection but hello girl, I thought you only had education on your mind? So how did the idea of marriage take over everything & forced you to curb everything & start thinking about this matter? You’re hardly 18 years old so don’t you have anything better to think about? Oh I get it, this is what the writer chose for Afsheen too. LOL! I find it ridiculous that the writer only has everyone’s shadi on her mind. Ahmed’s shadi with Samra’s daughter. Aima’s shadi with either Abid’s friend’s son or her boyfriend & now Afsheen’s shadi with either Abid’s friend’s son or some bicycle mechanic whose family will make an appearance in the next episode & Afsheen will be seen crying buckets over her anparh husband-to-be. Hilarious!

I am so disappointed that I put my faith into the writer that she will show what a power of education is & how it can empower a girl who comes from a very poor family but nope, looks like this fixation of shadi got the better of our dear writer & she threw the potential this script had of being unique & different & chose to make all the characters walk down the aisle & say their vows as you know what, this is exactly what the teenagers & their parents should be thinking about in their lives & shadi is the only thing that matters. What a great lesson, hai na? Anyways, please share your thoughts about this shadi-ridden episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 22!

Ohkay so, this episode practically had nothing to offer & I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that the parents of the toddlers & the toddlers themselves are only worried about the issue of marriage & forget the toddlers, an infant like Aima is buying diamond rings, LOL! How pathetic!

Ahmed is on the loop that he only wants to get married to Afsheen. Ali & Aabro are on the loop about how they will never get the apology they are living their life in a hope of. Zubaida is on the loop regarding Afsheen’s entrapment of Ahmed & that’s the pattern this drama is following since so many episodes, are they going to move the story forward or shall we stop watching because the message that we all were waiting for hasn’t been conveyed & the drama has turned into a brand new season of GEO’s old reality show Shadi Online!!!

Sorry, no sympathies for Ali & Aabro because they couldn’t do anything to improve their lives & their condition but the worst thing they have done is to force Afsheen to face the brunt of their shortcomings. I am certain of the fact that Ali couldn’t do anything ‘good’ & ‘proper’ in his life & the way he is playing with Afsheen’s life has confirmed the fact! I actually lol’ed when I heard Aabro say ‘tumhe isi din ke liye “””parhaya likhaya””” tha’, err, sorry ma’am passing the exams of 2nd year doesn’t make someone ‘parha likha’ in this day & age. She is just an F.Sc pass & there’s nothing out of this world about it. What infuriated me more was the conversation that Ali & Aabro had about how they knew Ali’s family will never change, so when you guys know it, why are you wasting your daughter’s life to please your cold-hearted mother? Zubaida is a negative character & there’s nothing new about it nor we can do anything about her, but sorry Ali & Aabro are no saints either because those who don’t want to help themselves are losers & they don’t deserve any sympathy.

Samra has brought her daughter to Pakistan in order to get her married to Ahmed. Chalo, Zubaida & Co. were settled in Pakistan so we can understand that they were in a rush to get the toddlers married due to the lack of exposure & typical mentality but Samra supposedly lives in Canada & even her daughter has been born & brought up there, so how come they didn’t choose to broaden their horizons & realize that Shadi wasn’t the thing one should focus on because Samra’s daughter is quite young! I can understand that Afsheen decided to leave her education since her parents stopped her from doing that, Ahmed is not interested in education & Aima is too busy dating an overly grown infant, but to see Samra’s daughter also settling for marriage at such a young age is ridiculous!

WOW! I must say I am impressed because Aima ke nikkay (chote) se boyfriend ne SPAYYSHILLY (specially) Aima ke liye DEMOND ring li hai. I actually couldn’t concentrate on anything after that scene as I became too busy in learning a new & improved pronunciation of the word specially. SPAYSHILLY is the new cool, so thank you baby boyfriend for teaching us something new!

I am not even furious, not even disgusted, I am just numb that a mother like Aabro who raised her daughter with a very nice & different mindset could reduce to this level of barbarianism, because from not accepting the proposal knowing that it was a mismatch she resorted to mindless hitting because she wanted her daughter to sit & wear the ring of the larka who should’ve been referred to as admi throughout the episode. What’s with the sudden flip & switch? I am amazed that just because Aabro was worried that Zubaida will become angry (as if otherwise she’s always in a good mood), she forced Afsheen to go ahead with what her Daadi chose for her.

Anyways, this drama has lost all its charm & I don’t see them redeeming themselves in any way because this story is not about Aabro & Ali anymore, it has become a version of a morning show which is filled with paid actors who are made to fight over petty issues (marriage in this case) brainlessly. The writer had a chance to show something different & show the power of education but nope, this drama has become a perfect example of how the producers make the mostttt (money) out of someone’s misery. Aabro’s never-ending helplessness & Zubaida’s continuously blown nostrils were earning them enough ratings therefore they knew they had a perfect formula to generate the revenue & this is why, they have thrown the quotient of conveying a good message & have made it completely typical which isn’t appeasing to watch anymore. Can someone please tell me when this drama is ending because to see the toddlers arranging their marriages, without worrying about their education isn’t sparking much interest & is making me nauseous! I must say, something is seriously wrong with HUM TV & it is utterly disappointing that they have ruined the credibility of the writer like Umera Ahmed & I must say I am in a disbelief that her name is associated with a play like this! Anyways, please feel free to vent out!

Aabro – Episode 21!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was good but I wish I could say that about the note at which it ended. I really am amused at myself that I thought may be this drama will prove something by showing how a girl chooses to empower herself against all odds but guess what, the writers are so fixated with SHADI that they decided to choose it as an ultimate solution to all the problems that Ali & Aabro have faced till date, leaving me thoroughly disappointed. Wah, what a logic I must say!

Ahmed has confessed his feelings to Afsheen & this is for the first time that I was happy about Fauzia eavesdropping on them because she could hear it herself that it was Ahmed who was confessing his love & the one who was saying NO was Afsheen. Ahmed took a stand for Afsheen by fighting the guy who was harassing her & that thing definitely created a havoc in their family. It is quite amusing that in stead of patting on Ahmed’s back for having such morals & values that he decided to protect his family member & a girl at that, who happens to be the family’s izzat most of the times, he was being rebuked for his action & things blew out of proportion when everyone found out that it was Afsheen who Ahmed fought for.

For once I want to see a mother or a grandmother holding the guy responsible for his actions & not covering them up by putting a blame on a girl who has nothing to do with how the guys feels about her in the first place. I really can not comprehend that how can Zubaida & Fauzia be so blind to not see how Afsheen has been raised & what sort of a girl she herself is. She has always been a bookworm & getting a guy’s attention is the last thing on her mind, so why can’t Zubaida & Fauzia question Ahmed & not put a blame on Afsheen for luring him once? If Fauzia & Zubaida think they can read people’s intentions so well, then why aren’t they worried about Aima whose only motive in life is to have a boyfriend at the age of 14 I believe, lol!

I must say Farah Shah must be getting a lot of hate for Zubaida’s character, which definitely is her success as an actor & I honestly hate Zubaida, so kudos to Farah Shah for playing this character flawlessly. So, talking about Zubaida now, I must say I am impressed at her manipulative skills, where she turned everything against Aabro & Afsheen & used it to brain-feed Ali. Placing a slap on Afsheen’s cheek was one mistake but the bigger mistake that he committed was questioning Aabro for failing as a mother when it comes to Afsheen’s upbringing because if there’s someone who knows what Aabro’s plans are for Afsheen & how conscious she is when it comes to her, it is Ali. Ali has seen how strict Aabro has been so what was he trying to imply by questioning Aabro? Did he really think that Aabro was perfectly fine with the fact that some random guy was harassing & following their daughter? Before even speaking about it & acting so irrationally, Ali should’ve thought things through that Afsheen was a victim here & all the things that Zubaida said were only because she hates his wife & daughter to the core.

I liked the way both the grandchildren of Zubaida waged a war against her & gave her a much needed reality check but it would’ve made even more impact if it had an affect on her but she being dheet definitely tells that nothing that Afsheen or Ali said made her realize how wrong she has been. Zubaida blames Aabro for ruining the peace & harmony of this household whereas if she looks in the mirror & asks this question once again, the answer will be in her favor telling her that she’s the one who has ruined everyone’s life. I must say I am amazed at her rigidity & consistency where she still has failed to acknowledge the fact that her son Ali was just as guilty as Aabro was for eloping but very conveniently, Aabro is still the culprit & Ali is not, similarly, Afsheen is the culprit now & Ahmed is not!

Oh well, let’s talk about the ending of the episode with a heavy-heart but before saying anything, I did like the fact that Aabro spoke to Afsheen like she was her friend & confided in her after a very very long time but then came the curve-ball & destroyed everything for me. Aabro thinks Afsheen can redeem the ‘aabro’ of this family by curbing her desire of educating herself & making a sacrifice by getting married so that she can prove to Zubaida that she is not like Aabro??? HAIN!!! Where did this come from & why did the writer give this angle to Afsheen’s track? Like excuse me??? Even if Afsheen gets married, she will go to someone else’s house, so how will Zubaida see & experience how Afsheen has been raised & how well she is treating her sartaj & in-laws? If Zubaida wanted, she would’ve changed her opinion years ago when she saw what a well-mannered, decent & perfect little girl Afsheen was but when she chose to overlook it, how will Afsheen’s marriage change ANYTHING? Also, if this is what the writer was saving for the last, then why was there so much emphasis on Afsheen’s education in the first place, when the writer only had her marriage in her mind? Like education is meant to be sacrificed for the sake of marriage just to prove to the world especially the Cruella Daadi that her mother taught her daughter how all the household chores are performed? Seriously??? Just before the beginning of this scene when I saw Afsheen sitting on a bed, crying at what her family was going through & how her father was treating her, I really was thinking that may be this will prove to be the turning point in Afsheen’s life where she will focus harder on her studies so that she can get a decent job & help her parents & prove to everyone else that her parents had some bigger & different dreams for her (like Rafia had for Kashaf) but the moment the conversation ended, it literally ruined everything for me & the preview left me sighing in disbelief when I saw Afsheen in a chamkeela dupatta & serving chai in front of her tez tarrar saas-to-be. Ufff the irony! Seriously writers, I assume that you guys are educated yourself, so why are you making a 19 y/o get married in your drama, when all she wants in her life is to educate herself? How does her marriage change ANYTHING & hearing those words from a mother like Aabro who only wanted her daughter to focus on her education left me in a great deal of shock! I am so so disappointed that I can’t explain!

Anyways, the confession of Ahmed was something that I found quite sweet & the way he stood by Afsheen’s side was also nice. Other than that, the note at which this episode ended & the preview of the next episode has left me in a great shock that I don’t think I’ll be able to snap out of it anytime soon. If they really wanted to reach the 24 (or more) episode mark, then they could’ve showed how successful Afsheen became on the basis of her education but may be her shadi & through her an increase in Pakistan’s abaadi was the plan that writer had in her mind!!! Please share your thoughts about this shocker of an episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 20!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was interesting & quite happening. May be because the scenes were short & they exposed a lot of problems that each & every family member was facing, that is why this episode in particular became quite interesting & gave us something to look forward to.

Fauzia believes in hiding away from the problems that are thrown her way, that is why she thinks that coming up with extreme solutions is the way to go. Just because Fauzia has understood that she has lost control on both her children, she thinks that the issues related to Ahmed can be solved if they move out of this place & the problems related to Aima can be solved if she marries her off. Fauzia has still failed to acknowledge the fact that she has failed at parenting her children properly & just because she didn’t pay attention to them when it was important, her kids have grown to be indifferent to her & the rest of the family members as well.

Abid on his own is struggling hard because he can see how badly her kids were raised, but yes, I most certainly do not agree that he gets a clean chit & blames Fauzia solely for not being able to raise Ahmed & Aima properly because just as much as Fauzia is responsible for their kids, Abid is responsible too. Where was he when both Ahmed & Aima were growing & were developing these sort of habits that now Abid can’t seem to tolerate?

Aima is quite a stubborn child who is only acting that way because Fauzia spoiled her to a T. Aima thinks her parents have no right to interfere in her life & she is free to do whatever she wants to. Again, I don’t understand how did Fauzia end up becoming such a liberal mother that she raised Aima like that because if we look at her background, she herself came from a very conservative family. Also, I find it funny that in stead of putting her energies to shape Aima’s character, Fauzia & even Zubaida are bent on controlling Ahmed because they are still typical in a way that no matter what a girl does, she will leave this house eventually but Ahmed is bound to stay with them for the rest of his life, therefore he should learn to stay under his mother & grandmother’s control.

Ahmed has finally decided to face the fact & put a name on the feelings that he has for Afsheen. It isn’t merely just a liking but his unintentional love for her that forces him to take a stand every time someone tells him to not meet her. Ahmed is well-aware of the fact that this news will bring a havoc in their lives & sadly poor Afsheen will have to face the brunt for something that she isn’t even aware of & hasn’t initiated herself, that is why Ahmed’s decision of keeping things to himself is right for the time being.

It was good to see that Zubaida started getting the reality checks that were long due. Ahmed told her clearly that she is the one who initiates the negativity & brain-feeds Fauzia against Ali’s family. Also, the way Abid told her that he will not let her ruin & make decisions regarding Ahmed’s life was also a much needed reality check that she had to get. The things Abid said to her clearly told Zubaida that Abid deep down blames her for bringing Fauzia in his life & ruining it for him. Abid was an obedient son & he got Fauzia as a reward which he is regretful about, that is why it was good to know that at least he wasn’t in a hurry to ruin Ahmed’s life by bringing Samra’s daughter in it. I am sure when the news will break, Abid will end up supporting Ahmed & Afsheen’s marriage because he knows that Afsheen is a perfect girl that has been raised properly.

I must say, looks like Samra & Fauzia are still stuck in their 20’s. Samra was supposedly talking about her daughter’s proposal so may be looking like a mother wasn’t have been such a bad idea. Anyways, I am sure Samra must’ve spoken about this proposal after Zubaida had instilled this idea in her but it was good to see that Abid wanted Ahmed to focus on his education in stead of getting him involved in these tangles. Also I must say, it was funny that Zubaida felt that if she’ll leave this house, it will mean handing it over to Aabro which she would never allow, but when Abid suggested selling that place off, Zubaida thought she will make a decision on those lines. Does Zubaida not realize that when she will sell this place, she will have to hand over a decent chunk of the amount to Ali because he will be entitled to it?

I am sure things are not going to get any easier for Ali, Aabro & Afsheen. Afsheen is being followed & harassed by a guy but it was good that she reported it to her mother because she herself got scared. Aabro thought that not sending Afsheen to the collage was a good idea. I must say, I was disappointed to see the aspect of Afsheen’s education being ignored in this episode. What they showed suggested that Afsheen settled for a simple B.A & a little bit of time had passed too because she said she was preparing for her exams as well. I really thought that may be Aabro & Ali will eventually come up with a solution that will enable them to get Afsheen enrolled in a medical college or may be Abid will find it in his heart to help Afsheen materialize her dream but nothing happened in this regard & I really think it was a bad move, since they showed us right from the start that Afsheen was all about getting educated & was enthusiastic about becoming a doctor in particular. I wish in stead of only making the ending phase of the drama about family politics against Ali, Aabro & Afsheen, they had put a little thought in showing how Afsheen changed her family’s condition on the basis of her education solely because what they are showing now & going by what the preview suggested also, it looks like Afsheen will eventually end up depending on Ahmed, might as well get married to him & then Ali & Aabro’s ‘halaat’ will change because their damaad might become a doctor. I feel a little sad about the way Afsheen’s track has been handled because we all were waiting to see her becoming self-sufficient & supporting her parents financially & also, we wanted to see her achieving so much in her life due to education because of which she had proved everyone wrong who had belittled her mother & father & had thought that nothing good will ever happen to them!!!

Anyways, the preview of the next episode suggested that Ahmed will speak to Afsheen & might as well propose her. It looks like Afsheen will start thinking on those lines as well because she was seen speaking about it to her mother. Ahmed will definitely get in trouble for protecting Afsheen & that will put Afsheen in a lot of trouble too. I know it is mean but I had a good laugh when Zubaida was insulted & was later seen crying over how Ahmed misbehaved with her, haha! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 19!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was good but kind of slow as well. I really think that in stead of showing one phase of Afsheen’s life at a time, they should show a bigger picture & wrap the drama up. I don’t know why I feel that HUM TV has really made the ratings their focal point due to which they end up dragging the dramas that tend to get more TRP’s. I feel that in stead of focusing on their profits, they should take care of what the viewers want. Lately I have been feeling that the dramas of HUM TV have lost their charm & it’s a sad state of affairs considering they were the ones who revived the drama industry when the entire Pakistan was addicted to Star Plus!

So, Afsheen got to know that her parents can not afford the tuition of a medical college therefore she had to accept the fate & decided to go with what her parents will choose for her. Ali & Aabro did try as much as they could by asking for Abid’s help once again but then again, even though I feel for them, this time I felt that they were going a bit too far by not planning things properly yet again. Yes, they do not make enough money but when they knew that Afsheen was approaching the end of her F.Sc, why didn’t they start saving a few bucks in order to have a decent amount required for the admission fee? Also, Afsheen scored 2nd highest marks so I guess they could’ve tried their luck for a scholarship just like Ahmed suggested? Its like they just had a dream but didn’t have enough wisdom to pull it through & achieve it. Once again Ali & Aabro lacked some planning & sadly Afsheen had to give up on her dream of becoming a doctor.

Ahmed believes in supporting Afsheen because he knows that she is a bright student & has worked so hard to get such good grades but sadly, it all went down the drain because of her parents & even because of his parents too as this time around, Abid held back & didn’t want to help them as he has Ahmed’s tuition fee to take care of as well. Just like Fauzia, Abid believes in face saving too because despite knowing that his son isn’t so good at academics, he is pushing his luck by getting him an admission in a medical college on self-finance. I must say, I like the way Ahmed takes stand for Afsheen, not because he likes her, also because he can see that his whole family mistreats Ali’s family & he feels bad for them.

Oh well, I must say I am disappointed at Zafar uncle’s selfishness, as he left the world peacefully but I am wondering why doesn’t he miss Zubaida so much to call her to the place where he resides too because that’s the only place suitable for Zubaida as well. I really feel that they are now pushing the hatred she has towards Ali, Aabro & sadly Afsheen is facing the brunt of it too. It just doesn’t make sense that Zubaida can not see the difference between Ahmed, Aima & Afsheen’s upbringing & personalities & she doesn’t leave an opportunity to insult them all by making a point that Afsheen will only bring bad name to their entire family. I think bas abb bohat ho gaya, like seriously, it used to be amusing watching her cursing Aabro & Ali but not anymore because enough time has passed already so they should have shown ‘someeee’ difference in her attitude towards them by seeing how nicely Aabro & Ali brought Afsheen up. Also, I do feel that they could’ve confined her hatred towards Ali & Aabro & should’ve shown that if she didn’t appreciate Afsheen, then she didn’t insult her needlessly too.

It was good to see Afsheen taking a stand for her mother & telling Zubaida off. Also, it was good to see that Ali told Zubaida clearly that he won’t let her have her way in the matters concerning Afsheen’s life & future because if she can’t love or respect them, she can not dictate them too. I think Aima & Ahmed have disappointed Zubaida enough for her to do some thinking that her perfect bahu Fauzia’s childern didn’t turn out to be so perfect after all so its not a hard & fast rule that Aabro’s daughter will only turn out to be like Aabro as well.

Anyways, this episode was decent but the progress in the story overall is a bit too slow for my liking, also the preview of the next episode once again suggested that things are going to remain slow as they will be focusing on the developing relation between Ahmed & Afsheen. I am sure things will get ugly once Ahmed will openly declare that he likes Afsheen more than just a friend. I must say I really really like both the actors who’re playing the characters of Ahmed & Afsheen. It is good to see some fresh new faces. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 18!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro didn’t take the story forward much but whatever I saw, I enjoyed it, having said that, it won’t be a lie if I say that I am dreading a slowed down pace once again. I so want them to keep up the pace & wrap the drama soon without ruining the charm that has been created due to the recent episodes.

So, Ali & Aabro have only one wish & that is seeing Afsheen becoming a doctor. Aabro believes Afsheen can become a doctor but Ali shares his hesitance with her because he knows that they can’t bear the expenses. I must say, I loved all the scenes of Afsheen because she happens to be the only good thing that has happened to Ali & Aabro, so she literally lights up their life & her surroundings as well.

It was quite naturally shown that even though Aabro trusts Afsheen to the core, she still doesn’t hold back in keeping a check on her. It is only because of her own insecurities & due to her own past but despite that, the way she has been a strict parent to such a perfect child goes to show that Aabro never really stopped being a parent to Afsheen & even though she trusts her, she not even for a second sat down without a worry that her daughter will never do the things that Aabro herself did when she was her age.

I must say, Aima got way more coverage than required & I didn’t enjoy that bit because it took the story no where. We already know that Fauzia hasn’t raised her kids properly but even though Ahmed is nice, Aima is out of control, so there’s no point in showing it again & again how spoiled Aima is. Also, when it comes to the actress playing the character of Aima, I must say, I still see her as a child artist & she has such a baby face that no where does she look like a student of 11th standard (probably 17 y/o) which is why I feel that is another reason why I didn’t really see her track important because the choice of actress wasn’t good & she is a complete misfit in this drama. I think the girl who was playing the role of Aima’s friend would’ve done a far better job because she looked appropriate for a character of a 17 y/o girl.

I once again enjoyed all the conversations Ahmed had with & about Afsheen. He really likes her & more than liking her, he respects her that is why he feels for her too as he knows how Afsheen gets mistreated by his grandmother, mother & now his sister for no good reason. It was good to see that Ahmed inherited some level of compassion & humanity from his father, that is why despite seeing how Ali’s family gets treated by the rest of the people, he hasn’t let any of that affect the relationship he has with them.

Well, for Zubaida the only Urdu proverb that came to my mind was ‘rassi jal gai par bal nahi gaya’. Her bitterness was alright, her interference was alright too, her being rigid was still alright as well, but what most certainly wasn’t alright was how she put a blame on Afsheen saying that she was trapping Ahmed & she was cunning, like seriously, I just don’t get why Zubaida said all that because she herself has seen how Afsheen has been raised & what her personality is & what her likes & dislikes are, so even if at this stage of her life she can’t really read & understand people, then she has wasted her entire life. Zubaida herself has seen how Aima & Ahmed have been raised & how different Afsheen is from them, so seeing her say those things made me feel disgusted. It is absolutely shameful that being a grandmother, she would accuse her granddaughter of something like this. It is sad that even after all these years, Zubaida’s mentality hasn’t changed where in stead of worrying about an outdoorsy Aima, she was more concerned about Afsheen, who is known for being a bookworm. Honestly speaking, I was glad that Zubaida got told off by Aima about the way she treats Afsheen, I guess that was the only good thing that Aima said & did!

Anyways, this episode just focused on showing some more characteristics of the newly introduced characters Afsheen, Ahmed & Aima. I must say, the actors playing the characters of Afsheen & Ahmed were chosen wisely & they fit perfectly in the roles that have been assigned to them but the girl playing the role of Aima is a complete misfit & just because she has appeared in numerous dramas, she was cast for this role, which I think was a wrong choice. I think that girl should stick to playing the roles of a 12 year old because she most certainly doesn’t look like a teenager to me. Anyways, I was hoping to see Zafar in this episode but the news of his death came as a shock because I was wishing to see whether Zafar has forgiven Ali & Aabro after all these years. Well, I guess that question will now remain unanswered, sigh!

Overall, this episode was good & I really really liked all the scenes of Afsheen & Aabro. It is good to see that Afsheen’s character has been written with a lot of detailing that is why most of the things she says or does show what sort of a girl she is. I wish they cut back on the coverage that they give to Aima & focus more on Afsheen. Also, I so am not looking forward to this chain of accusation initiated by Zubaida that now is directed towards Afsheen. Anyways, I must say Maheen Fayyaz has improved a lot, even though she still sounds robotic at times but she still has improved, Noor Hassan, Ahmed Zeb & Farah Shah have done a great job too. I must also add that the girl playing the character of Afsheen is a very natural actress & she performed all her scenes effortlessly & that is why she has become such a treat to watch. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 17!

Ohkay so, finally the tables have turned. I enjoyed watching this episode of Aabro the most because they gave us what we all were waiting for. Even though there isn’t much difference in the way Aabro & Ali’s family gets treated by Zubaida & Co. but it was refreshing to see both Ali & Aabro making through all the tough circumstances ‘together’ like a team. Even though, this was a drama that I started watching without expecting much & then it became a guilty pleasure but now it is a drama that I look forward to because it has shown us something that we hardly get to see that how a couple has stood by each other’s side through thick & thin & honestly speaking, we need more dramas like these where they show us the solutions rather than the problems.

Aabro & Ali clearly understood that nothing in their life would change & may be also because they started blaming themselves even more for what they were going through, therefore they settled for what life was offering them, but Ali & Aabro knew that the only asset they had & they will cherish for the rest of their lives was their daughter Afsheen that is why they made her a center of their attention & universe & that mind-set definitely paid off. I found it really good that even though Aabro was never keen on education, when she became a mother, she started paying heed to everything that her mother used to tell her, that is why she now understood how important it was for her to educate Afsheen & fortunately Ali agreed too.

I loved loved loved seeing the contrast between the two families where they showed that Abid’s family was well-settled, that is why his wife found a lot of other activities to spend her time & money at as she didn’t have much to worry about but just because Ali & Aabro never had enough money & time to waste on different activities, they dedicated their days & nights to the upbringing of their daughter Afsheen. Also, another thing that was good to see was a difference in Aabro’s behavior & attitude. She grew more compassionate towards her mother & she now could relate to what Sakina must’ve gone through in order to raise her & Hamid. I think they gave a positive message by showing Aabro’s transition because it wasn’t only her circumstances that changed her, but it was her own regret & her self-realization that helped her in becoming a completely different person.

So, 20 years went by & Aabro was still working as a maid in Ali’s home. Fauzia became a socialite & this time around, Zubaida was still nagging but the subject of her nagging was Fauzia’s children Ahmed & Aima. Fauzia’s transition was kind of shocking because she comes from a very simple family with her mother being a housewife too, so how did she turn herself into this outgoing person because when she was young, she never had any such interests so it kind of seemed out of the place that Fauzia, who always wanted a domestic life was now more focused on her personal life which had nothing to do with the responsibilities of her home & family? Also, Abid always guided Fauzia through, so what made him ignore everything that Fauzia was doing that drove her to such an extent where now everything else was her priority except her own family especially her kids? I found it hard to believe that Abid let it slide what Fauzia was doing all these years. Also, I must add, when Fauzia was shown in her 20’s she looked like someone in her 40’s & now when she should’ve been looking like someone in her 40’s she looked like she was still stuck in her 20’s. They should’ve aged Fauzia’s character too, yes styling & everything was definitely needed for her character but to show her frozen in time didn’t really seem realistic enough.

It was good to see some new faces in the drama too. Afsheen is an ideal daughter who knows what her parents go through in order to educate her, that is why she takes her education very seriously & not only that, she is a polar opposite of what Aabro was when she was her age. I loved seeing how well Ali & Aabro raised Afsheen where she has become an answer to all those questions people used to raise on her parents. Ahmed happens to be this typical spoiled brat who doesn’t care much about his studies but he isn’t a negative character though, he is still better than his sister but the way he acts can’t be helped because Fauzia never really said no to any of his demands that is why he is used to having things his way. However, I must add I liked the relation both Ahmed & Afsheen shared. It’s like they are cousins & that is why they are candid with each other & there is no awkwardness between them considering how Ali & Aabro were alienated from the rest of the family. Aima is another spoiled brat & she happens to be a negative character in a sense that she is quite ill-mannered & doesn’t really care about what her elders say or expect from her.

Zubaida can’t stop complaining because she is disappointed with how Fauzia has raised her children. Even though she still hasn’t acknowledged how well Aabro has raised Afsheen but deep down she can’t help comparing Ahmed & Aima to Afsheen as she really is a perfect & ideal child in every aspect. The preview of the next episode seemed interesting too & I am really glad that they have moved the story forward where the focus is now on Afsheen. However, on a side note I found it amusing that by showing Fauzia this way, they are implying that those daughters in law who get a free hand by their mothers in law become way too independent & spoiled whereas those who are scrutinized by their mothers in law every step of the way become way more grounded & decent like Aabro, haha. Overall, it was a good episode with some heart-warming scenes that Ali & Aabro’s family shared with each other. I can’t emphasize enough how happy I am to see a couple that has made it through such difficult times in their lives all by staying by each other’s side through thick & thin, otherwise what both of them went through was enough to break them, rip them apart & make them quit. Anyways, I can’t wait to see the next episode & please share your thoughts about this episode too.

Aabro – Episode 16!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro continued with the ordeals both Ali & Aabro are facing, but surprisingly, they took the story forward by 4 years & looks like they are now going to make the younger lot the center of attention & somehow that will serve as a redemption for Ali & Aabro & through Afhseen, Ali & Aabro will get their lost respect back.

Aabro continued to work as a personal maid of Fauzia while she was carrying a child & Zubaida took it as an opportunity to insult Aabro day & night because she knew she was dependent on them financially. I really thought that may be after so many years, the bitterness in Zubaida must’ve subsided but she proved that she is all about negativity & that is why, she continued with the disparity among her grandchildren. Zubaida shouldn’t be so shallow to treat Ali & Abid’s children differently because by the end of the day, the kids are not at fault & they are not responsible for what their parents do or have done in the past. I really expected better from Zafar & Fauzia but looks like they have harbored a lot of grudges in their hearts against Aabro & Ali, that is why none of them till date have told Zubaida off for how wrong she has been.

Out of all the people, Fauzia should be the one putting a lid on the past & forgiving Aabro & Ali but like she said, she can only extend a pity of few moments as Shahida has instilled that much humanity in her. Also, I found it kind of funny that even after 4 years Fauzia was wearing the same black/blue suit that she was wearing during her pregnancy. Anyways, it is sad to see that such a nice company of such a nice guy like Abid hasn’t changed Fauzia at all & she still has some ill feelings in her heart for Aabro & Ali.

I really felt bad every time I saw Afsheen being ill-treated by Zubaida, but I must say, the scenes where Abid spoke nicely to her & treated her with affection were heart-warming too. Every time I see Abid showcasing such kindness towards Ali’s family, I always wonder how did that apple fall from the tree in this family. Anyways, it was good to see that Ali & Aabro were still standing by each other’s side. However, I really fail to understand why both of them didn’t do anything to improve their financial condition in these 4 years? Ali could’ve changed his job or should’ve gone for teaching, also, Aabro could’ve taken some tuition too but seems like they themselves got comfortable with how much money they were making, which is why they didn’t bother much about improving their condition.

Hamid had nothing new to offer to the story, so it was good to see his part ending in the drama, where he got married & left with his lady love. I also feel that now when Sakina was all by herself & Aabro & Ali got a clear message that they weren’t going to be forgiven, then why didn’t they shift with Sakina to her place? At least that would’ve made things a tad bit easier for both the parties where Aabro could’ve gotten the emotional support of Sakina & similarly Sakina would’ve gotten someone who’d look after her. At least it would’ve been much much better for Ali & Aabro because that way they had protected their daughter from such rude behavior of Zubaida.

Anyways, the preview of the next episode suggested something promising where now the kids will take the story forward & the kids will become the reason behind their parent’s success & failure. Looks like Fauzia has gotten a bit too comfortable in her life that she doesn’t bother sparing some time for her school-going kid too & on the other hand, Ali & Aabro are investing all their energies in raising Afsheen properly by giving her the utmost attention & love, which is something really sweet. I hope they wrap the drama up with a good message in next couple of episodes. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 15!

Ohkay so, they continued showing us the hard times that both Ali & Aabro are going through & as sad as it sounds, there was no change in their condition & in the attitude of Ali’s family whatsoever. I think they have shown us the extremes now where Ali & Aabro are regretful & apologetic, so they really need to amp up their speed & head towards the ending of the drama because it seriously is getting quite depressing & emotional & oh yes, I did cry once again!!!

Ali & Aabro went through a lot of pain to arrange some money to contribute in Tayyaba’s wedding but as always, Zubaida spun the entire thing against him & used it as an opportunity to insult Ali even more saying that the amount that he was giving was quite small. Zubaida needs to stop comparing Ali with the other guys of the family because they all are doing some decent jobs whereas Ali is doing an odd job right now, so she can’t really expect him to give as much money as others have given to her.

I found a slight loophole in the timeline because they showed that Samra & Tahir came to see Ahmed for the first time & they also showed Ahmed as a newborn whereas in the previous episode they showed a time lapse of 4 months after Ahmed’s birth where Abid came in to share the news of his promotion & the company’s car. This scene should’ve been included in the previous episode because to see Ahmed reducing from infant to newborn & then again becoming an infant in the very next scene was confusing & also quite faulty. Also, Ali spoke about how Tahir came from America because of which he gave a good amount of money for Tayyaba’s wedding & in the later part of the episode, Abid goes like Tahir told him that he’ll be applying for Canada so Samra will settle there!?!?!

I think the way Fauzia is being treated in this family, she should be the last person making faces at Ali & Aabro’s mention. She has already seen that she has been ‘blessed’ after getting to Abid & how ‘unlucky’ Aabro has become so she shouldn’t show the signs of distress at all because if we crack the equation of their lives, Fauzia should in stead be thankful to Aabro for snatching Ali away from her because of which she got a chance to get married to Abid. It was good that at least Abid tried to knock some sense into her that she needs to ease up a bit & help Ali & Aabro as much as they both could because they needed their help right now.

It was sad that Sakina was suffering so badly & she stopped Aabro from coming over. She knows that Aabro is going through a lot herself so she didn’t really think it was a good idea to bother her much. Throughout the episode, I really liked the way both Ali & Aabro reflected upon their past mistakes & their current condition. They have blamed themselves enough, they have regretted enough but it is good that at least Ali can also see that his parents are now being unreasonable. His parents got a full chance to display their anger & disappointment but Ali & even his wife Aabro don’t have even that much of a leeway.

Aabro realized that things are getting worse because with Afsheen growing up, she’ll be having more demands, that’s when Aabro asks Ali if she could work as Fauzia’s personal maid as she was pregnant so she’ll be needing an extra help from now on. It was good to see that when Aabro requested Fauzia, something struck a chord & she hated seeing Aabro in that position. Even when Shahida found out about it, she didn’t seem too pleased too because that’s when both Shahida & Fauzia realized how grave their situation was & how hard they both were struggling to make the ends meet. The preview however suggested that things will now get even tougher for Aabro because the entire family will now order Aabro & will boss around her, also, they’ll now expect Aabro to walk an extra mile every single time because they’ll be paying her. It looks like things are not going to change at all & I really wish they would because we’ve seen it all & I really think the drama should end in next 3 – 4 episodes. Aabro – Episode 14!

Haye tauba! Itna emotional episode. :/ I controlled a lot but the last scene where Afsheen slept without drinking milk & Ali & Aabro fed each other did the trick & it got too overwhelming for me that I cried! :/ I seriously now feel for Aabro & Ali because I think they really have apologized enough, they have suffered enough & they have redeemed themselves by accepting everything that their family members threw at them because they both were genuinely apologetic & wanted to make things right.

I now think the time has come when Zubaida should experience something totally miserable in her life to understand how unfair she has been. Yes, she is mad at Ali & Aabro & yes, she had the right to let them know but to ignore an infant & treat her as if she doesn’t exist is totally wrong. I really think they have taken it a bit too far because both Zafar & Zubaida are shown as moderately religious people who had certain limitations that they always believed in, so I feel really disgusted to see them turning a blind eye towards Afsheen to this extent where they don’t even have an idea that she cries because of hunger pangs!!! I somehow don’t really like the continuous reminders of how Zafar & Zubaida are ‘namazi’ because in a very negative light it makes us question the fact that how come religious people like them can be so cruel & inhumane that they can’t bring themselves to forgive their own child? Yes, they can always draw a line & keep him at a distance but to deliberately torture & taunt Ali & his wife doesn’t really go in harmony with the fact that Zubaida & Zafar are God-fearing people? I don’t know why but I have always observed this trend in our dramas where they make sure to show those characters in a negative light who have something to do with the religion & even in Aabro, I feel the ‘focus’ on namaz is unnecessary because the namazis themselves are acting like hooligans!!!

I seriously lol’ed in disgust when I saw Fauzia thoosofying fruits in her mouth while sitting on a ‘bed’. I think the award for the most laziest character ever in the history of Pakistani drama goes to Fauzia. Like ye bed pe bethne ke liye paida hui hai? Or else, sirf aur sirf ‘bethne’ ke liye paida hui hai? She was seen sitting on her bed ample of times, then she was seen sitting on a sofa, then on a chair while dinning & then at the backseat of Abid’s car. I seriously think she should get her spine checked. Anyways, I really thought that after all this while, she will start feeling a thing or two for Aabro but to see her agreeing to her mother’s negative thoughts was distasteful. Fauzia can see to which extent Aabro gets ill-treated by both Zubaida & Tayyaba (naam to dekho harkaton se totally opposite wala) yet she thinks Aabro deserves this? I expected that may be after a little while Fauzia will also grow a little sympathetic towards Aabro but nope, she chooses to stay comfy in the vicinity of her bed & does not think about displaying a little bit of humanity when needed!!!

Aabro doesn’t only work throughout the day for herself & her family but she is taking care of all the household chores allotted by Ali’s family to her too. Aabro thinks this could serve as her redemption & she will be forgiven but no, she really has thought too high of Ali’s parents to be expecting forgiveness from them because they both are unreasonable, inhumane & dheet. They as parents have seen their son suffering enough but they have grown a thick skin where nothing that Ali & Aabro would do will change the way they feel for them, which is disgusting.

I felt sad seeing Sakina being insulted so badly. Zubaida doesn’t really treat Aabro as her family member so she shouldn’t have concerned herself with the guest who came to meet Aabro. The way Zafar encouraged Zubaida & patted on her back for insulting Sakina was disgusting too. Yes, I have used the word ‘disgusting’ enough already but I can’t explain how disgusted I feel after this episode. Sakina really is doing so much to provide some sort of support to her daughter but now Ali’s mother wouldn’t even allow that. It was quite amusing that she had kept quite an eye on the things Aabro & Ali had while completely ignoring the fact that it was Sakina who helped them & it wasn’t Ali who arranged the stuff for Aabro. It was so funny that 4 months passed but neither did Zafar’s shalwar kameez change, nor did Fauzia’s orange suit, Zubaida’s white suit & Tayyaba’s tortoise suit change too. Also, I really thought that Tayyaba’s character will be subtracted but looks like she still has some eye-brow raises & taunts left to offer.

I really think both Aabro & Ali have redeemed themselves by accepting their fate & also accepting the fact that they hurt their parents & that is why things are being hard on them. It is good to see them growing conscious of their past mistakes & trying to rectify the situation but I still feel they have done enough & it’s time for them to have some relief. I also felt a lot for Aabro when she saw how Fauzia was being treated like a royalty. It was good that Aabro wasn’t jealous or anything but she only compared her condition with Fauzia’s & felt sad that she didn’t get the attention that Fauzia was getting, which was something natural. I really really like how Ali & Aabro are both sticking together in these tough circumstances. Aabro understands what Ali is going through & so does Ali understand what Aabro has to put up with all day long. I really think this aspect of the drama is really nice that both Ali & Aabro are sticking with their decision & are growing more & more considerate towards each other as their patience is being tested. Somehow, they both are a perfect match because no one else would’ve lasted the pressure the way they both did by supporting each other. I am glad that even though this drama is just a guilty pleasure & not the sort that will leave an impact but they have showed something that we never get to see in our dramas & that is that a couple is not thinking about escaping from the tough circumstances but are staying by each other’s side & fighting whatever comes their way in a hope that they will find a way out of this havoc. This is exactly the sort of solutions we need to see in our dramas where dusri shadi or extra marital affairs is not on the characters’ mind & they are just trying to fight their own battles like a team. That’s the only good thing about this drama!

The preview didn’t suggest that things will get better for Ali & Aabro but I really hope that Ali gets a decent job, at least decent enough to afford a flat for his family so they move out from this hell-hole ASAP. I must say Farah Shah has nailed Zubaida’s character, I love her expressions & the way she acts. I had a good laugh when she goes like ‘tumse to mujhe yehi umeed thi Abid, then roles her eyes & sarcastically asks Ali, aur tum kya do ge?’. LOL! She really is a phenomenal actor & I think it’s only because of her acting that Zubaida’s character can be tolerated on-screen. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro!

Aabro – Episode 13!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was all about more sufferings that Ali & Aabro had to endure because of Ali’s parents & I think it’s about time that their pain should lessen because there’s a limit to everything & they have filled enough episodes with their misfortune already. Time to show something positive at least.

Abid & Fauzia got married & both Ali & Aabro were treated like strangers because it has been made very clear that Ali’s parents are not going to forgive Ali & Aabro anytime soon. I really thought that may be Fauzia will try to make Zubaida understand that she shouldn’t get so worked up at Ali & Aabro’s presence but seems like she herself is following the footsteps of her mother & her aunt. I was kind of disappointed to see Fauzia’s behavior. She made one of those brides who can become the talk of the town because of their never-ending frown. Like itna gham kyun hai Fauzia ko bhai??? Can someone please explain??? Ali & her chapter should be a water under the bridge for Fauzia but seems like she is fooling Abid by still being stuck in the past & being heart-broken at her failed engagement with Ali.

Abid is a really nice guy. He not only tried to bring some harmony among his family members but he proved that he will stand by Ali’s side no matter what everyone else says. He invited Ali for the dinner & even treated Aabro with respect too. I think Fauzia should follow her husband’s footsteps because they are going towards a right & a better direction, at least better than where her mother & her aunt’s footsteps will take her!!!

Aabro & Ali had a baby girl & things got difficult for them even more because they found no help from anyone in Ali’s family. I really really like Sakina’s character, I think Sakina & Abid’s characters are the most rational ones in the lot of all these people who are suffering from hormonal imbalances of some sort. I really liked the scene where Sakina calculated how she had to pay back some of her loans but the moment she heard about her granddaughter, she forgot about everything. Sakina proves that it really doesn’t matter how much money you have or what your financial status is, you have everything if you have humanity. Yes, Sakina is going out of the way for Aabro because she happens to be her daughter but Sakina also suffered the same pain that Zubaida went through, so why can’t Zubaida forgive Ali that too at a stage where he himself has become a father & needs her blessings the most? Fauzia is expecting a baby too & I am sure, she will be milking it more in order to gain sympathies & khidmaat of everyone around her, because she knows that Zubaida will do everything for her. I wish someone had told Fauzia to wear a longer trouser because the length of those black trousers was quite odd!!!

Sadly Ali & Aabro didn’t get any forgiveness & things won’t be easy for them because the preview suggested that Shahida’s evil mind will come up with a suggestion of using Aabro as a substitute of a maid. I really think they are pushing it a bit too far by showing this level of inconsideration & it was actually quite bizarre to see everyone’s cold reaction at the news of Aabro’s new born too. At least, I am glad that Ali decided to put some sense into his mother’s empty head that she should forgive Aabro & Ali because they have suffered a lot already but I am sure it would take a lot for a stone-hearted woman like Zubaida to change her attitude. What I really find annoying is that even Zafar doesn’t tell his wife to cut Ali & Aabro some slack, like seriously, fathers are a bit easy-going & Zafar actually knows that it was Zubaida’s insistence that forced Ali to go to such extremes, so at least he can show some consideration & tell his wife off but he adds more fuel to the fire which is annoying!

I think this drama is now taking things a bit too far & it is no fun to watch Ali’s family’s tyranny. Also, I think if there’s one thing this drama teaches, it is that everyone should cherish the food they get to eat every single day because they really never know when a woman like Zubaida might start snatching things away & starts taunting for using a bit too much salan, doodh, dabal roti etc, yeah I said dabal roti deliberately to show how hideous does it seem to see them fighting like puppies (who didn’t get their fair share of bones) over the food. Anyways, I think in this episode both Noor Hassan & Maheen Fayyaz really convinced me with their acting, they really conveyed the sufferings of Ali & Aabro to perfection & I really felt for them. Aabro – Episode 12!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was full of misses but had a few hits, but if I speak about the overall story, I most certainly don’t agree with the writer’s perspective at all & I believe we don’t need such dramas that only focus on holding the girl responsible for everything while turning everyone else into a victim.

So, Ali & Aabro shifted to a room, which looked more like a store room but they both didn’t complain at all. Ali got in contact with Aabro’s mother & she tried to help her daughter the best way possible. I like how Sakina hasn’t estranged Aabro completely. Sakina is a true depiction of what mothers are like because no matter what their children do, they will support them & love them unconditionally. Sakina herself has lived a tough life, that is why she can understand Aabro’s condition better. I like how she always encourages Aabro to stay strong & be patient because Sakina knows there’s no other option left for Aabro & I find that very realistic.

Aabro has pretty much understood it completely that all the things she once looked down upon are the things she’s depending upon in times of need & everything that she didn’t want in her life has become unavoidable for her now but somehow, the way she is managing herself & the way she is accepting it all makes me feel for her. Aabro is satisfied that at least she has a place to stay & more than that, what I like about Aabro is that she is also trying to help Ali & herself too. I am glad she spoke about giving tuition to the school-going kids to which Ali agreed. Honestly speaking, I was happy to see the peace & harmony between Ali & Aabro. Aabro needs that much of love & attention from Ali & I am glad that Ali can now see what his wife is going through all because she loves him. Ali can see how Aabro is being mistreated by his family & just because Aabro has stopped complaining about them, Ali can see it even more clearly how his wife is suffering.

As the episodes are passing by, my detest for Ali’s family is growing more & more. As far as I could see, Aabro only gave a 20 Rupees note to the maid to fetch her some milk for her to which Zubaida responded monstrously saying that Aabro was a spend thrift who was being extravagant in her choice of milk, like seriously!?!?! All the instructions that Zubaida & her meesni beti Samra gave to the maid only showcased how petty & shallow these ladies are. Samra suggested that maid also shouldn’t do Ali & Aabro’s laundry, which made me feel that she was about to leave this home, so it would’ve been better if she had stopped worrying about such petty things already. I am ready to understand everything else, but what I can’t bring myself to comprehend is the reason why Ali’s family doesn’t believe in feeding Aabro properly? They’re a middle class family so I don’t think a bottle of milk deserved such a grand reaction & fuss over it. Do they really want Aabro to die from malnutrition or what because other than that, there’s no justification for this sort of pathetic behavior. They can hate Aabro as much as they want but to defy her of basic human right of having a meal is downright ridiculous & is totally unforgivable.

I most certainly don’t understand what Shahida wants. They way she reacted to the news of Aabro’s pregnancy was pathetic. All this while, she was hoping for Ali & Aabro’s divorce which is disgusting. Does Shahida really think that she can build a happy paradise for her daughter by wishing ill upon someone else’s daughter? Both Zubaida & Shahida continued to blame Aabro but I felt like smacking Zubaida & telling her that Ali is equally responsible too. I don’t understand why the news of Ali & Aabro’s child was so disturbing for Fauzia that it made her face forlorn? Shahida is making a fuss about everything so I don’t think there’s a rocket science involved that if she knew Ali & Aabro will haunt her & her daughter all their lives, why did she choose Ali’s brother Abid for Fauzia? They could’ve easily said no & moved on in their lives? I so am not looking forward to the mother daughter conversations they both will have after Fauzia will get married to Abid. I have a feeling that Fauzia is one of those people who don’t know the art of happiness & have never experienced what it is like to be happy. She has found a good husband (which was probably the HASIL of her life), she has an MIL who can’t stop raving about her, she has a support of everyone around her, to phir shakal pe 12 kyun bajay hain bhai? Kiss baat ka gham laga hua hai is afsurda larki ko? I just can’t tolerate Shahida, Zubaida & Fauzia & I am not thrilled to see what this trio will do in the future. Also, the way the title photo of the drama shows how Fauzia has her eyes glued at Ali, I am sure she is going to dwell in the misery of the fact that Ali rejected her & it won’t allow her to be happy with what Abid is doing for her.

I really like how Abid is trying his best to develop a healthy relation among all his family members. The way he invited Ali & Aabro to his wedding & helped Ali in participating was really sweet. I liked how Aabro reacted to it too where she didn’t make a fuss about Abid looking down upon them but rather appreciated his niceness. Also, the conversation Ali & Aabro had about buying medicines or clothes was really touching, they both are going through a very tough time but they both are sticking together which is good. Honestly speaking the way Ali’s sister didn’t allow Aabro to come forward for the rasm was really amusing. She looked like one of those annoying drivers who drive slowly but don’t let anyone else overtake them. I really hope Zubaida stops being such a typical saas & Ali’s sisters stop being such weirdos too.

Overall, the only thing that I liked in this episode was Ali’s growing concern for Aabro & Abid’s attempt at making them feel a part of the family too but other than that, this entire episode was bothersome. I really hope that Ali’s mother learns to blame her son for wronging her & not always covering his shortcomings using his wife as a scapegoat. It is really funny that at one hand she doesn’t feed Aabro & on the other, she expects Ali to hand over his entire salary to her so that she can spend his money to cover the wedding expenses. The preview suggested that Ali will break down & they both will have a baby girl. I am hoping to see them accepting Aabro & her daughter & put everything behind! I must say, Maheen Fayyaz looked nice in this episode because she was wearing a lot less makeup & I think that should be her go-to look. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was typical & cringe-worthy to say the least, however there were a few bits & bobs that I liked. I really think they need to show some change in the attitude of Ali’s family too because they are being a bit too rigid & unreasonable & it is getting hard to tolerate them.

I really liked the things Ali’s friend said to him. He seemed like a true friend who knew what Ali was going through & the things his wife must be facing because of his family. The way he advised Ali to maintain a healthy relation with Aabro was perfect & was refreshing to hear. Also, I am glad that Abid thought it was a high time he needed to do some talking with his mother about how she should & she must forgive Ali & Aabro, now that they are living under the same roof.

Ali found a job & so did Abid & then, the most cringe-worthy phenomenon took place where Zubaida held both Fauzia & Aabro responsible for their husband’s jobs. This whole ‘larki ki kismat ka paisa’ is so outdated & no one thinks like that, also there’s no evidence to support this argument too, so the writer really needs to upgrade the way she thinks. Yes, I do agree with Zubaida where she held Ali responsible for hurting his parents & therefore facing the brunt of it but she was completely wrong where she put the blame on Aabro solely.

Shahida is actually getting out of control. She now demands Abid to move out because she doesn’t want Fauzia to face Aabro. She is a control freak who is going to make it very difficult for Fauzia & Abid to make their own decisions. I liked the way Abid reasoned with her, I think of all the characters, Abid’s character is good because he knows how to maintain a balance & also serves as a binding force. Shahida didn’t seem too convinced that is why she asked her husband to built Fauzia a home where she can live with her husband happily ever after, which again was so unreasonable.

I found it ridiculous that even after Ali’s friend told him to take care of his wife, Ali continued to be harsh on Aabro. He doesn’t trust her anymore, he doesn’t want her to step out of the house to earn money & also he doesn’t want to get in contact with Aabro’s mother. I really don’t understand what makes Ali think that Aabro is the culprit & he has a right to judge her character? Also, I hated seeing him having a hot meal at the dinning table, where Aabro had to put the food back because Ali’s nasty sister threw a tantrum at her. Both Ali’s sisters lack basic humanity & I think they’re doing a commendable job in following the footsteps of their mother & not to forget the lack of acting in them makes them stick out like a sore thumb too!

The preview of the next episode showed that things are going to get more difficult for Ali & Aabro. I don’t understand why Zubaida is still being so unreasonable now that Aabro has apologized to her? Like Abid said, if he doesn’t like her, it doesn’t mean that she has to make things hard for her. She can ignore her presence & stop maligning other’s heart against her too. I think the way the neighbors backbite about Aabro shouldn’t concern Zubaida at all because in all honesty, that is a display of their petty caliber where they can’t get over her. Also, Hamid needs to move on too because it seems ever since Aabro has left Sakina & Hamid have nothing else to talk about & to see Hamid’s hissy fits is burdensome. Also, as much as I was ecstatic to see Fauzia ‘standing’ in the kitchen, which showed that she is capable of walking too, she took me back to square one where she was seen eavesdropping on her parents & frowning over her luck, phewww!!! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 10!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was just like the other episodes, it was strictly ohkay. I don’t know why, even though the team has done a good job at conveying the story but the story itself is so so typical & all the situations are so familiar that I don’t think I am watching anything new in Aabro. It is all about a suffering of a girl who didn’t think things through which reminds me time & again that all our dramas are filled with stories & characters like these, so what’s new here? I really think HUM TV needs to step up their game & come up with different & fresh ideas.

Anyways, this episode was all about Aabro’s ordeals & the attitude her in-laws had towards her. Even though Aabro is getting what she deserves, I also think Ali’s mother is as unreasonable as both Ali & Aabro. She blows things out of proportion because she hates Aabro, that is why anything that Aabro says or does is held against her. The things both Shahida & Zubaida discussed were wrong too. I for once don’t understand what does Shahida think or herself & her daughter Fauzia? Just because she is marrying Fauzia off to Abid, does Shahida really think that she is going to run how things work in Zubaida’s home? When the thought of Fauzia living under the same roof with Ali & Aabro is so dreadful & awful to her, then why didn’t she think of it before choosing Ali’s brother Abid as her son-in-law? I find both these ladies totally unreasonable & irrational. They are so typical that it isn’t even funny!!!

Ali is so over Aabro now that even Aabro has understood that things aren’t the same anymore. Ali gets to meet his mother the moment he enters his home & he then makes it his room where Aabro is waiting for him, but in those few minutes, Zubaida fills him up with so much hatred & fabricated version of her self-pity stories that he turns against Aabro & acts like a typical mama’s boy who has no sense of reasonability & balance. This entire episode pretty much revolved around the same scenario where Ali was hating Aabro more & more because he chose to believe what his mother said & didn’t give a chance to Aabro to explain herself.

The only good thing that happened in this episode was the practical advice Aabro’s mother Sakina gave to her daughter. Sakina knows that Aabro doesn’t have a chance to come back because of Hamid, that is why she chose to make her understand that now she has to make things work no matter how tough it gets for her. Sakina’s advice came as a breath of fresh air where she told her daughter to do what she is supposed to, by changing herself & by changing her situation so that her in laws give her the respect & her husband gives her the love she married him for. This was the only aspect of this entire episode that I liked where Aabro started thinking that she has to change herself not for anyone else, but to make things right for herself.

I really don’t understand Zubaida’s attitude towards Aabro. Yes, she hates her but how can she devoid her of the basic necessity like food & not only that, accuse her of stealing something from the kitchen, which by the way only had a sookhi roti & nothing else to offer. I also found it shocking that Zubaida chose to lie to Ali that Aabro demanded a chunk of their property, that too in front of Zafar, who himself heard what Aabro said, but he didn’t mind correcting his wife that she was telling a lie. Fauzia hasn’t gotten married yet & she hasn’t arrived in Abid’s home but she is already carrying this never-ending pain on her face which is making it hard for me to tolerate her for a split second even. I just can’t stand characters like Fauzia who are a liability on other’s shoulders & nothing else.

Anyways, the preview of the next episode didn’t seem enticing too but I have to admit, I am tired of seeing the writer holding Aabro responsible for everything while easily babysitting Ali, whereas he has committed the same mistake as Aabro. Shahida was heard saying that she couldn’t see her daughter Fauzia sharing the same roof with a ‘bhaagi hui larki’ like Aabro, which made me cringe & think of the double standards Shahida has because if Aabro eloped from her house then Ali did the same thing too, so why didn’t she consider this fact as well that her potential son-in-law Abid happens to be a brother of Ali who left his house & resorted to a court marriage as well? Why is it that only Aabro is held responsible whereas the similar thing that Ali did is being brushed under a carpet? Also, in the preview of the next episode, Zubaida is seen comparing Abid & Ali’s luck because of their life partners. Abid gets a job in MNC whereas Ali gets appointed as a peon & Zubaida blames it on Aabro too but why didn’t she for a second blame her son that he might not be capable enough to bag a good job?

I must say I am thoroughly disappointed that Umera Ahmed chose to associate herself with a project like this where the writer is turning the girl into a villain & the guy into a victim, that too for the thing they both are equally responsible for & not only that, we’re being forced to feel for him because he is torn between his unreasonable mother & immature wife. I totally agree that Aabro is wrong & everything that she is facing now is a result of what she did but Ali is not a saint too & he is looking like a loser too because he is being unable to maintain a balance between his mother & his wife. In this day & age where in our society a girl is put through so many pressures & she is held accountable for each & everything that a guy goes through, dramas like Aabro are the last thing we want to see on our screens. I really thought they’ll show us a balanced approach but nope, looks like I expected the right thing from wrong people!!! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 09!

Ohkay so, this episode of Aabro was comparatively better because they took the story forward & showed us more about what’s going through the characters minds. I kind of like the fact that they are keeping things in such a zone where they want you to feel bad for Aabro & also they are showing that she is responsible for what she is going through. I feel they have resorted to realistic portrayal of such a scenario which is great.

Ali was already having a hard time & Aabro added more to his problems. Where Aabro should’ve been worried about the basics, she started having thoughts about the luxuries at this point of time that Ali didn’t bring her the things she dreamt of. Ali tried his best to get the job but he couldn’t & all these difficulties took a toll on him & he ended up getting sick. I think Aabro did the right thing by contacting Abid because she knew only he could help them in the hour of need.

For a change, it was good to see a young girl knocking some sense into her empty-headed mother. Fauzia’s younger sister tried to show the other side of the picture to Shahida that may be because of Zubaida, Abid must’ve agreed to this marriage. On her daughter’s advice, Shahida chose to speak to Abid & got a response she was waiting for. I found it absurd that even though Abid clearly told Shahida that only because of his mother he agreed to get married to Fauzia, she took it as a positive response & got ahead with the Nikkah. Why couldn’t she read between the lines that Abid’s heart wasn’t into this marriage & he was only following his mother’s orders? Abid & Fauzia had their Nikkah & Abid decided to give this relation the chance & attention it needed. I found it amusing that just a single phone call from Abid brought a smile to Fauzia’s face. Like seriously, her character is the least impressive character in this lot of ordinary characters, also when I see her sitting on her bed, I always wonder if she ever does something else too apart from sitting on her bed & crying over her luck?

So, Abid finally convinced his parents that Ali should be allowed to come back because he wasn’t well. Zubaida agreed but Zafar chose not to budge at all. Ali & Aabro came back & surprisingly, things were comparatively easy & smooth for Ali than they were for Aabro. Ali’s mother decided to forgive her son after a single conversation with him, where he still held her responsible for the things he did, yet she chose to overlook what he said because deep inside she was happy that he was back. Even though Zubaida detests Aabro, but still she thought it was her duty to put restrictions on her, which started off with the first ever restriction of visiting her mother, which I found completely unreasonable. Everyone in her family is blaming Aabro for eloping but why aren’t they counting the fact that Ali eloped with her too? So if Aabro is guilty then so is Ali as well!

Yes, Ali’s family members have a reason to hate Aabro but the way they didn’t think about feeding her spoke a lot about the sort of the people they are too. Ali wasn’t even bothered about Aabro & couldn’t care less whether his wife ate something or not. Yes, things were difficult for both Ali & Aabro but finally, Ali has come back to his comfort zone, his home, so now he should pay a little extra attention on Aabro so that she accepts his family & brings herself to change for all of them, but I am certain that Ali will never put much thought into it as he has already grown out of this relationship & a part of him blames Aabro for everything, whereas he should understand that he is equally guilty too & just like him, Aabro is going through a tough time as well. Ali really isn’t the ideal man because he clearly has issues when it comes to rational thinking. He isn’t a man of substance who’d stand with the decisions he made. Yes, the writer is trying to highlight Aabro as the culprit but I must say, Ali ain’t a saint himself & he wasn’t a toddler also who grabbed Aabro’s finger & followed the path she took him at. The writer is trying to show that Aabro is wrong but in my opinion, Ali is equally wrong too & to some extent he is worse than his wife because at least she is sticking to her decision & has completely given up on every other relation in her life but Ali is finding it hard to maintain a balance between his wife & mother, which is a sign of a weak man!

The whole scene where Ali’s sister misbehaved with Aabro for getting some tea for herself & the things that the guest said about Aabro was quite forced. They could’ve easily showed what others think about her some other way too because this seemed totally out of the line. Also, the way Shahida & Fauzia reacted upon hearing about Ali & Aabro’s arrival was weird too. Does Shahida really think that Fauzia is so dear & important to Zubaida that for her sake she will forsake her son Ali? Yes, Ali hurt Fauzia & Zubaida in a moment of anger did speak against him but it is wrong of Shahida to believe that Zubaida will give priority to Fauzia over Ali. I am glad that Abid is putting things in perspective & he is trying his level best to tackle both the families properly. He is acting like a binding force & he believes in making things right in stead of being stuck in a past & not doing anything to overcome those situations. Abid has to be the best character in this lot I must say. Honestly speaking, I found it funny that now Fauzia started speaking Abid’s words in front of her mother. She overreacted when she heard her mother talk against Ali & then she easily got convinced when Abid assured her he won’t let her feel uncomfortable at any step of the way. I seriously don’t understand the hype & the importance Fauzia’s character is getting because as far as I believe, she looks absolutely mindless & directionless to me. Fauzia’s only motive in life was to get married & where she was crying buckets over Ali, it took her a split second to hand over her heart to Ali’s brother Abid & that too at such a level where she is now advocating his thoughts too. I really think her character is getting way more attention that it deserves & it infuriates me because this girl/woman has no mind & no thought process of her own too! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 08!

Ohkay so, this episode was comparatively better because the sufferings & the situations that they have shown were portrayed realistically. I think a little realistic approach in telling this otherwise typical story is the only saving grace of this drama & makes it tolerable to watch.

It has completely dawned on Ali that he can not do much in a new city because it is not easy to run a house & take care of the expenses on his own without his family’s support just like that. Ali has started to understand that his decision of getting married to Aabro wasn’t right. Even though he may still love Aabro but now he can see the things from a different perspective where he can understand that this selfish decision of pleasing himself & Aabro made a lot of people angry & left them heart broken.

Aabro on the other hand misses her mother too but she fails to understand the gravity of the situation & change herself. Ali is still putting up with Aabro because the love that he has for her hasn’t faded as yet but if Aabro keeps this up where she will insult him, Ali will seriously grow out of this relationship pretty soon. I am glad that they showed it properly that both Ali & Aabro aren’t at ease. Where Ali is dealing with a lot of issues on his own, Aabro is feeling a little uncomfortable too, but I still feel she is sticking to her decision & hasn’t started regretting it yet unlike Ali. I so wish she had spoken to her mother nicely & should’ve been a bit patient because she should know that her mother is entitled to give her a piece of her mind for the things that she has done.

Finally, Aabro made sense & after hovering around from one place to another she realized that both she & Ali are better off at his parent’s home, that is why, she was the first one to bring this subject up & suggested Ali that they both should go back to Ali’s parent’s home. Ali shared his feelings with Abid & it showed that he succumbed to the pressures a bit too quickly. Ali has always lived in a bubble & going by how his parents pampered him, it showed that he isn’t used to such tough circumstances, that is why, Ali thought it was a good idea to share his problems with Abid because he knows Abid despite being younger will be able to support him & he will find a solution to his problems too.

I don’t know how Ali’s parents & Fauzia’s mother sleep at night after playing with the feelings of their kids just so easily. Zafar blamed Zubaida for everything that Ali did as he understood that Ali never wanted to get married to Fauzia, so how can the same person suggest the exact same thing for his younger son? The reason why this family is so obsessed with Fauzia is beyond me!!!

Once again, even though Shahida tried to ask Fauzia’s opinion, she thought before saying anything, she should initiate the conversation with some sort of emotional blackmailing by reminding her of the relations both the families share. I don’t know why Fauzia’s family is treating Zubaida’s family as the only family on the face of the Earth that is capable of having Fauzia as their daughter-in-law. If it’s not Ali, then what’s the point of getting her married to Ali’s younger brother despite knowing that Fauzia is not thrilled by this whole idea & she doesn’t want to get married to Abid in the first place. I am sure all these elders will do as they please & then easily put a blame on Aabro in stead for all the problems their families will face because of Abid & Fauzia. They are surely going to use Aabro as a scapegoat & conveniently ignore the fact that all this is happening because of their wrong decision making.

Overall this episode was ohkay & the preview didn’t seem promising at all. I so am not looking forward to see how Fauzia shatters the glass vase at the news of Ali & Aabro’s return. I still don’t get that when Ali & Aabro’s mention is stirring such serious reactions in Fauzia’s family, then how are they comfortable with the idea of Fauzia getting married into the same family that too now when Ali & Aabro are going to live in the same house as her? Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 07!

Ohkay so, this episode was pretty slow & typical because it didn’t have much to offer & the things that unfolded had been there, seen that written all over them.

Aabro & Ali are facing difficulty in settling down, which I think is purely Ali’s fault because when he had no plan, he shouldn’t have taken such a huge step in the first place. Ali is turning out to be quite incompetent because he can’t even take care of himself so how is he going to fend for his wife? Ali thinks hopping from one friend’s place to another’s would help him but he isn’t even confiding in them, so why does he think they’d understand him when Ali is only going to lie to his ‘friends’? It is actually quite unconvincing that Ali doesn’t even have a single good friend that would help him at this hour of need. Also, I find it quite ridiculous that Aabro still hasn’t grasped the gravity of the situation that she’s in, with her husband. The moment she hears something against herself, she decides to leave that place, without even putting much thought or considering the idea of bringing a change in herself. Yes, she wanted to get married to Ali, so she got him, but now, she needs to show some understanding too. Honestly speaking, as far as Ali’s plan of eloping with Aabro was concerned, it seemed alright because people who’re in love tend to do that, but to see Ali as the eldest son of the house who seriously has no sense of responsibility makes me question his sanity. Ali seems more down & depressed than Aabro, as if he wasn’t ready for this kind of burden & challenges in his life, which is why now when he is facing them, he is finding it impossible to deal with them.

Collage 01

The argument that took place between Aabro & Ali regarding their families went to show how things are going to get quite difficult between them because Ali didn’t take a minute in making Aabro realize that she never respected her mother, so she shouldn’t be saying much anyways. She already has told Ali enough that she never had good relation with her family, so she shouldn’t expect him to show a tad bit of understanding as far as Aabro’s family is concerned.

Honestly speaking, I thought we’re living in the 21st century but Fauzia burst my bubble because she is stuck in the era where she weighs someone’s luck by considering the fact that they got married to the one they loved!?!?! Fauzia thinks Aabro is very very lucky because she has gotten married to Ali but Fauzia still thinks she has a chance & a single phone call to Aabro would turn things in her favor. Fauzia is turning out to be like a whiny kid that holds a grudge against that aunt who didn’t give her a candy. I so wish apart from eavesdropping, Fauzia had some more role to play in the drama because till now she seems useless & now she is also looking like a burden that others have to carry because she herself is so heavy that she can’t budge & can’t do anything to save her sorry self & life. Honestly speaking, I was getting ticked off with Fauzia, her character, her forlorn face & her sobs while she touched her empty ring finger. Seriously girl, pull yourself together & stop crying over a guy who, forget about love, didn’t even like you to begin with.

Just when I thought Ali’s father was the wisest of them all, he chose to make such an irrational decision that almost made me bang my head against the wall. Zafar thinks now that Ali refused to give Fauzia a piggy back ride for life, Abid should do the honors. Like seriously, why have they shown these parents to be so aloof & indifferent to their children’s needs & desires that they are making such irrational decisions on their behalf. All this while, Ali’s father rightly blamed Ali’s mother for everything that Ali put them through as he knew that Ali retaliated just because Zubaida chose to ignore what he wanted so it comes as a shock to me that Ali’s father hasn’t learnt his lesson & just like that, he thought Abid would get married to Fauzia? When Ali’s father was so considerate towards what Ali wanted, why is he turning his eyes away from Abid? Honestly speaking, I don’t think Fauzia is to die for that everyone is putting every logic, all the sanity & rationality aside to ease her pain & make her smile.

Collage 02
The only good thing that happened in this episode was Fauzia’s younger sister’s standing up against her parents because she made much more sense then these self-proclaimed wise parents. Also, I loved how she tried to knock some sense into Fauzia when she went on a blaming-Aabroo-spree that Ali is a newborn baby & Aabro has stolen him from his cradle. Shahida is again one of those alien mothers that none of us can relate to. First, she was perfectly fine with the idea of Fauzia becoming Ali’s Dusri Biwi & now, she seems totally sold at the idea of Fauzia’s marriage to Abid. Like these parents are human beings that experience & understand human emotions or are they zombies who don’t know what a human being goes through & the sort of emotions it feels? At least, it was good to see Fauzia’s sister standing up for her sister & ruling out the decision that these elders made because she made much more sense than these uncles & aunts combined. Also the way Shahida shooed her daughter away & looked sheepishly at her husband was so cringe-worthy, as if her plan was slipping away from her hands & she was trying hard to strengthen her grip!

Just when this episode was about to end, it hit me that they’re trying very hard to recreate Diyar-e-Dil here but it is turning out to be a commercialized copy of a classic drama. Just like Behroz & Ruhina, Ali & Aabro have eloped & have gotten married. Just like Suhaib & Arjumand, Abid & Fauzia are going to be forced into marrying each other. Just like Suhaib & Arjumand, Fauzia & Abid will live a good life & in the end, Ali will regret the decision of getting married to Aabro against his parent’s wishes just like Behroz & then in the end, may be Aabro will change & apologize for being herself, that too like Ruhina! The only difference in this drama is that Ali & Aabro are going to come back & live in Ali’s home which Behroz & Ruhina didn’t do. Things will be different then but the plot & the story line is just so similar & I so wish they hadn’t done that because their re-take on classic is totally…meh!!! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, this episode mainly covered the aftermath of Ali & Aabro’s selfishness, but I have to say, all the emotions were portrayed perfectly & realistically. They showed what the families go through when a girl & a guy take a decision of setting their desires as their priorities & when they completely ignore the responsibility they have towards their family members.

Even though Ali seemed a bit skeptical but just because he saw how his mother was being inconsiderate towards his wishes, he chose to go by his heart & didn’t put his mind through the gravity of the situation. Ali actually loves Aabro unconditionally, that is why going by her suggestion, he took such a huge step in a spur of a moment. Ali actually doesn’t understand what is right & wrong & it is surprising that at such an age, he is so immature to not being able to see that his mother only wanted what is best for him. Having said that, I so am not implying that Fauzia was the best choice for him but after the impression Aabro left on Zubaida, she was right in showing reservations about Aabro because she could see that Aabro wasn’t an ideal life partner for her son, Ali.

Collage 01

Unlike Ali, Aabro didn’t even bat an eyelid before ripping her mother off & shredding her reputation into pieces. Aabro effortlessly took the money & jewelry & left the house leaving a note behind that showed her family meant nothing to her. Even though for now, Aabro loves Ali & she is being quite selfless when it comes to him, but she is forgetting that she is the one who couldn’t love her own family & didn’t have an emotional affiliation with her own mother, so only because of this trait she is going to face a lot of hardships because at one point of time, she will grow indifferent to Ali too as she won’t be able to put up an act in front of him for a very long time. If Aabro decides to work on herself in order to improve herself, then she has a chance with Ali but if she keeps this up, she will drive Ali away from herself in a very short span of time.

Both the mothers of Ali & Aabro made me feel for them because they perfectly portrayed what the mothers go through when their children decide to punish them like that. What Ali did was completely wrong but if we consider how Zubaida was being rigid, it showed that she called this on herself but when it comes to Sakina, Aabro had no right to put her mother through this because Sakina always trusted Aabro & went out of the way for shaping Aabro’s life without putting much restrictions on her but Aabro chose to reciprocate the favors of her mothers in the worst way possible.

I didn’t quite understand why Aabro & Ali chose to go for a court marriage in stead of a simple Nikkah in the Masjid. That would’ve validated their relationship even more easily & convincingly. The problems the both faced were just a prelude of what is yet to come in their lives & they both seemed totally clueless & directionless. Aabro is depending on Ali more than he understands & going by how Ali hadn’t done any pre-planning went to show that his immaturity & lack of thinking will cause them both a lot of problems as they both are still not aware of the intricacies of the life they have chosen for themselves & don’t quite seem ready to face the brunt. It came as a shock that Ali was depending on Aabro for the financial help whereas he has been working for quite some while now, so it would’ve been better if they had showed that he had some savings on him too.

Collage 02

Hamid is facing a hard time because of Aabro too & so is Zafar because the word has spread that both Ali & Aabro are missing. I think may be Ali’s parents will try to accept both Ali & Aabro in order to save their whole family from the shame & that’s when the real ordeal will begin because Aabro will give Ali & Zubaida a tough time.

The preview seemed interesting because looks like Ali & Aabro’s happiness will end up being short-lived because it will begin to dawn on them that they both are very different people with different temperaments & they both will have to compromise a lot in order to make their marriage work, which they both don’t look ready for. The families will end up staying involved too & looks like Fauzia will put up a great show which I so am not looking forward too. She is an enough disappointment already & I really am in no mood to see her crying over a guy who doesn’t even care a dime for her!!! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aabro.

Aabro – An Overview!

Ohkay so, production of Momina Duraid, writing of Qaisra Hayat & direction of Ilyas Kashmiri; Aabro is airing at 8PM on HUM TV on Sundays from the last 5 weeks. The screenplay of Aabro is written by Umera Ahmed, which is something that has attracted a lot of viewership to this drama. Overall, Aabro isn’t a must watch but has been executed properly without much loopholes, therefore it can be followed without expecting too much from it in terms of entertainment or story.

The story of Aabro revolves around 3 families that are interlinked. First comes the family of Zubaida (Farah Shah) & Anwar who have 4 childern. Ali (Noor Hassan) & Abid (Ahmed Zeb) are their sons along with two daughters, out of which Samra is engaged to be married. Then comes the family of Zubaida’s sister Shahida (Humera Bano) & Jamshed who have two daughters, out of which Fauzia (Zainab Ahmed) is the center of attention. Then last but not the least, comes the family of Sakina (Asma Abbas); a widow & a mother of Hamid (Imran Ashraf) & Aabro (Mehreen Fayyaz).

Collage 01

The story begins by showing that Ali & Aabro are interested in each other & are going out. They both are very much in love & plan to get married. Ali’s mother Zubaida is a very family oriented woman who believes that she has a control over her children. She wants what’s best for them & that is why she believes her sister’s daughter Fauzia is a perfect choice for her son Ali. Ali belongs to a middle class family & Zubaida believes in morals & values, that is why she believes that Fauzia fits the bill of her ideal daughter-in-law as she knows that her sister Shahida has raised Fauzia with the same mind-set that Zubaida endorses herself.

Collage 02

Sakina works as an janitor in the college & works as a maid at the house of the principal of the same college. Sakina has given up on her son Hamid because she knows that he was never interested in educating himself. She puts faith in Aabro because she thinks Aabro would be the one who can turn the tables for the entire family. On personal request of Sakina, her Madam (Ismat Zaidi) gives admission to Aabro in the college because she feels for Sakina & knows that despite being a single mother, she works really hard to provide for her children.

Collage 03

Aabro asks Ali to introduce her to his family but Ali can’t really find the right time to do that & just when he is thinking of talking to his mother about Aabro, Zubaida finalizes Ali’s engagement with Fauzia. Even though Ali tells his mother time & again that he doesn’t want to get married to Fauzia, she doesn’t pay heed to what her son says as she is too keen on saving her word & reputation in front of her sister. Surprisingly, it is Ali’s father who feels that Ali isn’t happy with the situation but Zubaida assures him that he is mistaken because whatever she did happened after knowing Ali’s opinion on that matter.

Aabro finds out about Ali’s engagement with Fauzia & that’s when she decides to step in. She speaks to Fauzia directly & tells her that Aabro & Ali got married, therefore she should call her engagement off. Things get heated & that’s when Fauzia’s parents take a stand that they would never allow Fauzia to get married to Ali. On Ali’s request, Zubaida goes to meet Aabro just to find out that she is completely opposite to Fauzia, making her even firm on the decision that she’d never allow Ali to get married to such a girl who has been raised like that. Now the things are going to get pretty ugly because Aabro has decided to elope with Ali & looks like Ali has agreed too because he knows that nothing that he’d say will convince his mother. So let’s see what more do they have in store for us.

Coll 01

First 5 episodes introduced all the characters properly & I think the writer has done a good job in bringing out the personalities of all the characters in detail. I think it is appreciable that just when the drama is in the initial stages, all the characters have gotten enough coverage so that the audience can understand them better. Even though the drama has ‘been there, seen that’ written all over it but it still provides satisfactory content to tune in on the weekends.

Even though there’s nothing appreciable about Aabro but I think she is better in a sense that she is not after Ali’s money or didn’t fall for him after finding out that his family is doing well financially. She just fell in love with him for who he is & yes, she is someone who wants everything in life but still she has never once considered that she can mooch off her future husband Ali. There’s a fine line between being in love for genuine reasons or to pose you’re in love just because you’re a gold digger but Aabro isn’t that & she actually really loves Ali & yes, all the things she expects from him are the things any girl expects from her future husband. Aabro has never once thought of changing herself because she thinks Ali has accepted her the way she is & this is something that’s a huge mistake on her part because no matter how much Ali loves her now, after marriage, her nature is the main thing that will prove to be the reason behind them drifting apart. Aabro is immature, impatient & inconsiderate & it is actually quite surprising that Ali can’t see that. Ali happens to belong to a good family but even he has allowed himself to get swayed by a girl like Aabro, that is why he doesn’t see any faults in her & is creating a havoc in his home for her sake. Aabro surely has Ali wrapped around her little finger but then she is not solely responsible for it because Ali has given her that much of an edge to be able to do that.

Honestly speaking, in the initial episodes, I liked Ali’s mother & thought she was justified for thinking that as a mother she can take important decisions on behalf of her children but the way she ignored Ali’s pleas even after hearing from him clearly that he doesn’t want to get married to Fauzia & the way she tried to impose her decisions on him made her look very unreasonable & irrational. I am glad that at least the husband in their couple is wise enough to think that Ali is entitled to choose his life partner & that he won’t be able to make Fauzia happy if he himself won’t be happy with his marriage but Zubaida resorted to lying just in order to save herself & add more weight to her decision. I thought Zubaida was a wise woman as well like her husband but I don’t think that’s the case anymore because if she would’ve been wise, she would’ve been able to foresee the mess that now her & her sister’s family is facing, which is just a result of her lies & a result of her turning away from the reality.

Coll 02

Also, I am not at all a fan of Fauzia’s character. Why do the writers always show that behind every sulking lifeless girl, there’s a guy she is dying to get married to. Why do they think it is justified to show that no matter how the girl gets rejected point black by a guy, she still would want to get married to him. Ali happens to be Fauzia’s one & only love, her first love of the life (if she has one) & she is ready to do everything to be with him. Even after personally getting a call by both Ali & Aabro & also after getting a final verdict from her parents especially her father, Fauzia is taking a so-called stand that she still wants to get married to Ali & will never call off her engagement. Like seriously, Fauzia actually made me feel disgusted by her display of lack of dignity & self-respect. Just when I was expecting that Fauzia would be the one calling Ali & giving him a piece of her mind, she was mad at her parents for breaking her engagement with Ali, which actually left me in a state of shock. Why do the writers feel that they need to show that a girl who supposedly is strong-headed will take a wrong decision that too for the sake of a guy who is least interested in her. I so wish Fauzia stops being so ridiculous that too for the sake of her one-sided love because she is turning out to be a mentally weak person! Also I believe Shahida’s meltdown was absurd too. Just when Shahida saw that her daughter Fauzia wasn’t taking the news of her broken engagement well, she decided to side with her & accept her decision of getting married to Ali while completely being ohkay with the fact that he was already married. Even though Ali’s not married but right now no one in her family is familiar with the reality so to see Shahida being perfectly fine with the fact that Fauzia will become Ali’s second wife made me cringe (a lot)!!!

Overall, the direction & the acting of all the actors has been good but I feel Mehreen Fayyaz should tone it down a couple of notches, whether it’s her dialogue delivery, her expressions, her gaze or even her makeup. She does fit well in the frame of Aabro’s character but she is over-doing it a bit. She has a long way to go in terms of acting & I hope she improves because for now, her eyes look completely bland & expressionless. I now think Noor Hassan should change his look, if not anything, at least his hairstyle because he happens to appear in one drama after another but isn’t experimenting with his looks at all. He has a same hairstyle if we look back starting from Firaaq to Muqaddas to Tumhare Siwa & now Aabro, I hope he’s not trying to become another Ahsan Khan in terms of monotonous styling. I must say the only actor who has actually forced us to feel for the character she is playing is Asma Abbas. She is phenomenal as Sakina & you actually understand what she is going through & how hurt she is but is still putting up tough facade to face the world. She doesn’t believe in crying over how diffcult her life is, she believes in moving her muscle to fight it out, which I feel is commendable & is refreshing to see. Farah Shah has acted brilliantly too & I loved her acting in the 5th episode in particular where she is mad at her son & can’t explain how helpless she’s feeling. The rest of the characters are very typical & have nothing new to offer but are being portrayed well by the actors. Sadly, these sort of stories have been aired so many times that we can’t help reading between the typicality they offer but I really hope it turns out to be a bit different in the episodes to come & ends at a good note with some very strong underlying message. Umera Ahmed’s name is something that is forcing me to have some hopes with this drama. Please share your thoughts about the first 5 episodes of Aabro, would love to hear you guys out & also let me know if you guys would like to see the weekly reviews of Aabro. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,

People demanded an immediate ban on Jalan and PEMRA banned it but it came back on our screens as the Sindh High Court uplifted the ban and allowed the drama to air.

Aabis Raza who is the director of Jalan has recently talked about the censored scenes of Jalan and character of Emmad Irfani.

He said, “Due to the censorship and challenges, the character of Asfandyar is not explained well because his character was not easy. It’s difficult to attract Asfandyar because he was not the kinda person who just got attracted by bitching. He was like the kind of person who might have corrected her.”

“He has major swings and he realized when Nisha strictly said to him that what he has done to her and he was going back to Meenu but she kept on changing strategies which changed Asfand’s personality and point of view,” he added.

Talking about the character of Emmad Irfani, he said, “Censorship is so dangerous if I had minus those scenes then his character might appear as ‘bad’ one. Emmad has worked so hard and often he messages me about all the important deleted scenes. However, Asfand is handsome hunk he will save himself with his swag.”

Aab-e-Hayat: Episodes 14-18

Phew!!!! just completed the episodes of Aab-e-Hayat so far, and I need a pat on my back for this. Hehe!!

Coming back to the novel, the novel has changed a lot I exactly know what I felt about it in the initial episodes and I had to be reminded by this shair “Paiwasta reh shajar se umeed bahar rkh’’ to remain hopeful and believe in the writer. So, the time came were I can conclude that a lot is happening but still it was hard to focus on SIF development and the six members who belonged to different countries, the main point was they were all very influential and capable investors and the best in their respective fields.

Congratulations Salar Is Alive:

Congrats to all the fans Salar is alive Yippie!!!! The operation was successful and all type of negative guesses lost their validity although the readers were forced to doubt his survival by another twist and that was the story of Erik and we will be having detailed analysis of it but he survived.

Tash Kay Pattay and Chapters:

The story was presented in the form of cards and Aab-e-Hayat had 6 chapters all giving deep meanings to the initials of the word Aab-e-Hayat.

The story has reached to the part of Abadan Abadan and after that we would be left with Tabarak Allazi.

So far, almost many cards have revealed and the ones left are:

K– The shooter scene.

J– Mazi ka Mazi. (This card will be soon revealed and I think it is about chunni and she would find out about her past)

10– In this card a picture of an Alzheimer patient was painted and he was being fed by someone and this is definitely Salar and Sikander Usman as he is diagnosed with Alzheimer.

9– C.I.A investigating and discovering about the past of a family and they found something fishy about that birthdate and time of a girl. (Salar is definitely being traced and his SIF will become a great threat for World Bank and for all other banks who certainly don’t support the idea of an Islamic bank and Chunni will be that girl….just a guess)

Q– Imama on a boat. (If I didn’t miss anything than this is yet to happen)

A-A girl is shown erasing her Ninth chapter and printing the other chapters of her life. (She might be Chunni or maybe Imama …just a guess)

2-Salaar Imama romance (This is still not explained …right?)

Entry of New Characters and Their Connection with The Kids:

With the passage of time as the kids are growing we are introduced by new characters and they in one way or other are going to play influential roles in Imama and Salar’s kids life.

Erik-Inaya:

Erik is the new character who is a neighbor of Salar’s family and after the trauma of his father’s death he is emotionally dependent on them and does weird activities to grab their attention. He loved them but the main concern is his love for Inaya and this secret is disclosed to Imama. Imama ignored it as American grownups living a liberal life, in their childhood do such childish and stupid acts but the way he has started learning Quran and converted his name is alarming. He is going to have negative impact on their life.

Ayesha-Jibreel:

Yes, Ayesha and Jibreel, the reason why I connected them together was their medical studies and the background of Ayesha as she is religious and is pursuing this career just for her mother. Although Jibreel will join his university classes in America and Ayesha will continue in Pakistan and an anguish and shocking turn is just waiting for her still their life will merge at some point.

Ayesha’s character seems to be pretty much like Imama but Imama herself had the dream of pursuing medical studies and this is not the case with Ayesha.

Saad and His Life:

Ahsan Saad the elder son of Saad is similar to his father and the one thing apart from many others he has in common with his father is definitely Hypocrisy!!!!

With disappointment and equally expected feeling Ahsan Saad is a loser and he belongs to the same mentality as his parents do.They believe in forcefully thoping their religious fatwas to everyone. They belong to group of rigid mentality that when questioned with logic, evidence and specific background about Islamic teachings would frustrate and start giving fatwas. I am glad Umerah Ahmed spotted this thing and explained it beautifully.

Functional and Dysfunctional Family:

A functional family is the one in which the members have great concern, true love and sincere advices for each other and that is indeed Salar’s family be it Jibreel who is very responsible and takes care of his younger siblings or Inaya who is equally responsible. These kids have a balanced life they are successfully managing to incorporate the Islamic values to their life, working for both worlds and it is a great message.

A dysfunctional family is none other than Saad’s family. He successfully reformed the mentality of his wife and has now affected his son. Such a showoff and the horrible thing is he himself is not aware of this disease. May Allah Save us from this disease.

Cutest Parts:

I had to mention this, Humain is a cutie pie and the conversation of being cool was hilarious and Jibreel turning red (blushing and anger mixed) …Haha was super cute.

Jibreel’s meaningful speech to Erik changed his heart and that was awesome. Jibreel is very impressive and the way he takes care of his parents was so beautiful.

These two parts were very touchy and fun to read, the upcoming episodes are surely going to be more about Raeesa’s character development and Jibreel’s university life obviously we want Humain in every episode he is such a Shararti Bucha that amazes us every time he is mentioned, and now he decided to become a businessman like his Papa.

This is all for now, hopefully I didn’t miss anything important. Share your views regarding this episode and feel free to share your own guesses.
