We have seen a lot of overrated actresses in our drama industry. The hype and popularity they receive are more than what they deserve. They are mostly not popular because of their acting skills but due to their glamorous roles and the publicity that they receive. However, there are some actresses that are underrated. They have proved on various occasions their brilliant performance as actors but they still have not received the recognition and popularity that they truly deserve. When I hear the word ‘underrated actress’ the first name that comes to my mind is Sanam Baloch.
Sanam Baloch started her career as an anchor on the Sindhi channel KTN. She made her debut in dramas through the play Kalaq, opposite Fahad Mustafa, which was aired on PTV in 2008. The drama turned out to be a huge hit. In the same year, she was also seen in the play Doraha, alongside Humayun Saeed, which again turned out to be a hit show.
However, she gained the fame from her stupendous performance in Dastaan which was aired in 2010. The show was based on the novel written by Razia Butt and was one of the best dramas of 2010. Her role as ‘Bano’ was critically acclaimed. She received the Annual Lux Style Award for the Best Tv Actress (Satellite) for her role in Dastaan.
I still have her scenes imprinted on my mind; her splendid performance had no doubt left everyone speechless. Her sizzling chemistry with Fawad Khan set the screen on fire and her struggle and desire to reach her country after independence was portrayed beautifully by her. I had never thought she had so much potential in her as an actor. I always considered her acting skills to be average but my opinion about her changed drastically after this show. In the same year, we got to see Daam, a play written by Umera Ahmed and directed by Mehreen Jabbar. Daam was the story of the friendship between two friends, Maliha and Zara, one from a rich background played by Amna Sheikh and other was shown belonging to a lower middle class family played by Sanam Baloch. Sanam again proved that she is a magnificent actress. She played the role of Zara to perfection. In the same year, she also did a show called Chemistry opposite Danish Taimoor.
In 2011, she was seen in Akhbari Asghari and Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan Bhi Tha. She played a negative character in the play Akbari Asghari which comes in the genre of romantic comedy. She was also seen playing a grey shaded character in Kuch Pyar Ka Pagalpan Bhi Tha. However, both the shows failed to impress the audience. Akbari Asghari was rated as an average show while the latter turned out to be a huge flop. In 2012, she did Dur e Shahwar which is considered one of the best dramas of 2012. She was last seen in Roshan Sitara which went off air recently. She was also seen in Amanat Ali’s music video of the song Thumri. Sanam was seen as a morning show host on Hum Tv a few years back and is currently seen as a morning host on Samaa Tv.
What I find disturbing is that even after proving her versatility time and time again and giving so many hit shows, she had not gained the level of popularity that she deserves. She is not being offered quality scripts by popular production houses. She is seen in the same monotonous roles as she has been type casted by production houses. In my opinion, she is a superb actress and deserves to be admired by the audience and appreciated for her roles. She is not glamorous and does not seek publicity in any way. She is just a simple actor and tries to prove herself through her acting skills and that is what impresses me the most.

We will get to see Sanam Baloch on the screen after a while and her pairing with Fahad Mustafa is worth looking forward to. The famous designer Sanam Agha who is the CEO of the House of sanam celebrated her birthday. Many stars were invited at the part including Jhonty Rohdes, Maria Wasti, Asim Jofa, Anoushay Ashraf, Fariha Altaf and many others.
Sana Yousuf is a 17 year old TikToker who was killed at her home in Islamabad in sector G-13 by an unknown assailant. The murder shook the whole country as a girl was targetted and killed while she was inside her house. There was a strong uproar in the media and on social media about increasing femicide.
IG Islamabad addressed a press conference today and spoke about the murder case after the assailant Umer Hayat was finally arrested. He was arrested from Jaranwala, Faisalabad. IG revealed that Sana Yousuf was attacked at her home. Umer came on a motorbike, went into Sana’s house and shot her with two bullets. He was later seen fleeing the scene on the same bike. He also took Sana’s phone with him when he fled.

IG Islamabad further explained that the man wanted to befriend Sana Yosuf and kept contacting her through her social media. She repeatedly rejected his advances which he could not take. The officer said that the police have named this case “The Case of Repeated Rejection”. On 29th May which was Sana’s birthday, the man actually reached her house and tried to meet her. She rejected him once again and never met him. He tried to meet her once again on 2nd June and he was rejected again. Then he planned to murder her, broke into her house and shot her.

The murder weapon which is a pistol and Sana Yousuf’s phone were confiscated from the murderer. He also admitted to committing the crime when he was arrested. Police were able to reach the assailant by using CCTV footage and constituted 7 teams to catch him as soon as possible. Sana Yousaf was a young influencer hailing from Chitral. She was just 16 years old and she lived in Islamabad where she used to make lifestyle content. Fans loved her and social media is where she was contacted by Umer Hayat who was smitten by her. He tried to approach her several times but she rejected him. This outraged Umer Hayat who went to her house and shot her dead.
Sana Yousaf’s parents have been fighting her case for a year now as they wanted to get justice for their daughter. The court in Islamabad has announced the verdict and justice was served. Umer Hayat has been sentenced to death while Sana has finally got the justice she deserved.
Sana’s mother Farzana Yousaf and father Yousaf Hassan fought this case and they have now spoken to BBC Urdu. Her mother revealed that she was worried about facing her daughter after death if she did not get her justice. Her father said that they fought this case for all the girls who face oppression in society. Sana’s mother never saw the criminal in court as she could not look at him. They never stopped their daughter from her ambitions and always supported her. Sana wanted to become a doctor and she was pursuing this passion. They also revealed how they always protected her and she never went anywhere alone. Her uncle always accompanied her.
Sana Yousaf was a 17 year old TikToker and content creator. She was murdered on June 2nd 2025 for saying No to the advances of a man. The young girl was living a normal life, making her content and meeting her friends. She was approached by the culprit Umer Hayat through social media as he started liking her. Sana repeatedly rejected the man but he could not take “No” for an answer. The culprit has been apprehended by the police and he was presented before the court today.
Umer Hayat belongs to Faisalabad and the police apprehend him by following CCTV footage. He admitted to killing Sana Yousaf when he was arrested. The culprit has been sent on 14 Day Judicial remand today for identification. He was presented in court in a black mask while the whole media was watching.

Sana Yousaf was an emerging Pakistani teenage influencer who got killed in Islamabad in a tragic incident that happened on 2 June 2025. She was shot dead by a social media acquaintance, Umer Hayat (22), who entered her house and opened fire on Sana, after which she passed away within minutes. Sana had around 500k followers on Instagram and 800k on TikTok when she was shot. It’s been 8 months since her passing. I have not been brought with justice. I want a harsh punishment for the culprit. There was no reason, just that she refused the offer of his friendship, he killed her. She thought she was brave, which she was, but what can a brave person do in front of the culprit? The justice process is taking time because of his father’s appeal in the high court. I cried the whole night. I need justice not only for my daughter but for other girls too. Sana Yousaf was a popular Pakistani digital creator who was murdered last year on June 2nd in Islamabad. Sana Yousaf was allegedly shot dead by her acquaintance Umer Hayat, who came to Islamabad at rental car, entered her house, and shot her in front of her phupho and mother. Sana Yousaf was declared dead when she was taken to the hospital. She was later buried in her family graveyard in Hunza.
It has been almost a year since her alleged murderer Umer Hayat was arrested, and he had earlier admitted to killing her. However, after a year, the accused has now withdrawn his statement and denied killing Sana Yousaf.
In the Islamabad court, the culprit recorded his statement under Section 342. Umer Hayat said that he is 23 years old and did not rent or take any car, adding that the rental car documents were fake. He further stated that he didn’t come to Islamabad, didn’t meet Sana Yousaf, and has never been to her residence at G-13. He also claimed that no videos or footage of the incident are available and that he has nothing to do with whatever happened to Sana Yousaf.
He added, “I was arrested on the base of suspicion. Social media users are saying that it was an evident open-and-shut case which should have been concluded within a month because all the evidence was already there, but in Pakistan it is impossible to get justice. Sana Yousaf was a 17-year-old Pakistani social media influencer and TikToker who gained popularity by creating humorous and cultural content celebrating her Upper Chitral heritage. On June 2, 2025, she was fatally shot inside her home in Sector G-13, Islamabad. A 22-year-old man, identified as Umar Hayat, murdered her and was recently given a death sentence along with life imprisonment in a recent court hearing related to Sana Yousaf’s murder case. Sana Yousaf’s parents thanked Pakistanis for their constant support throughout the process.
After winning the case, Sana Yousaf’s mother visited her village in Chitral, where she showed fans Sana Yousaf’s favorite house and the places where she loved to shoot videos. Not only this, but she also revealed that Sana planned to live her life in her village after becoming a doctor.
Her mother, Farzana Yousaf, said, “I am here in Chitral. I am at a place in Booni which was Sana’s favorite. It’s my mother’s place, and Sana loved it. She was fond of this house and shared multiple videos and reels from here that went viral. She even told me that she would reside here after becoming a doctor and treat people. This is our house, where she used to capture pictures. These almond trees, apple trees, and apricot trees were her favorites. We will also visit Sana’s grave today. She was so in love with this place, and we also have a guest house nearby. I love this place because it was my daughter’s favorite place. I remember her so much; she used to be happy here. Sana Yousaf was a young teenaged influencer who was murdered at her own home in Islamabad. The case shook the country as a young girl died just because a boy could not take No for an answer. She was approached by criminal Umer Hayat who wanted to marry her. She as a young girl turned him down and did not want anything to do with him.
Sana Yousaf was murdered on 2nd June 2025 by Umer Hayat. He broke into her house and shot at her. The girl’s parents kept pursuing for justice and finally after a whole year of trial, Umer’s fate has been decided. Islamabad’s District Court has announced the verdict as Umer Hayat has been sentenced to death by the court. He has also been fined by the court.
Umer Hayat has been sentenced to death and he will also have to pay a fine of 2 million rupees. The trial took nearly a year with the victim’s mother and aunt being eye witnesses of the murder. Additionally, digital and forensic evidence was also taken into custody.

Sana Safinaz recently ran out of their copy rights notice on a newspaper soon after the release of their latest Spring collection.
A piece of Sana Safinaz latest spring collection apparently seems to be a copied artwork of international brand Pronovias Ceremonial from their 2015 design collection.
It didn’t take long for the news and pictures about the copied print to go viral on social media.
However, Sana Safinaz responded by passing down a legal notice of claiming copy rights of the prints in Pakistan.
We wonder how they could claim copy rights over an already copied print. The matter has become rather funny and we wonder if the social media will question them further.
Sana Safinaz came under the fire back in 2012 for it’s poor campaign choice and the famous brand has done it again. As some see the campaign as a representation of African culture other’s accuse the campaign for using black people as props and of culture appropriation.
