Barbie has always been the doll of every girl’s dreams. We have all played with either the real deal or a replica but all the girls have had a Barbie in their toy collection at some point in their lives. Barbie has become really diverse in the recent years with the doll coming in a variety of skin tones and a variety of professions but the OG pinky vibe still stays.
The doll is again back in the mainstream media as the Hollywood movie Barbie directed by Greta Gerwig is all set to release tomorrow with Margot Robie playing the iconic Barbie. The film has taken the world by storm and women of every age are returning to their Barbie era as they get ready for the movie’s release.

Farshi Shalwar has been trending on social media lately, with designers, brands, and fashion enthusiasts all talking about it. This stylish revival seems to be a deliberate move by designers to bring back Shalwars after the dominance of straight pants, culottes, and flappers.
The Farshi Shalwar is a traditional South Asian attire known for its regal and elegant look, with deep historical roots in the Mughal era. The name Farshi comes from the Persian word Farsh (meaning “floor”) because this specific Shalwar extends to and touches the floor.
The Farshi Shalwar trend usually resurfaces for short periods, as it primarily appeals to young girls. Many elderly women believe that this fashion suits only a specific body type—particularly tall and lean figures. Interestingly, several stylish Pakistani actresses wore the Farshi Shalwar even before it became a trend. Celebrities like Sadaf Kanwal, Ayeza Khan, Maya Ali, Sana Javed and Mahira Khan embraced this look years ago. In 2025, many actresses have embraced the Farshi Shalwar Trend.

Pakistani Actresses Divorces is not the best topic to cover, it is truly sad when marriages break. Marriage is an institution that joins two people together. They promise to live together and share all the happiness and sorrows forever. But this does not become true always. Things get difficult and relationships do break up. It causes pain to both parties and is always a point of sadness for anyone with a heart. The involvement of children makes things even more difficult and complicated as the break up is not only of two individuals but also of two parents. The year 2018 has been a year of marital bliss for the Pakistani entertainment industry with so many celebrities saying their I dos and starting a beautiful journey of their lives. However, there have been some unfortunate incidents when the couples have broken up due to unavoidable circumstances. Fortunately, though the divorces were far less and we wish everyone whose heart has been broken finds their happiness again.
Here is a list of Pakistani Actresses Divorces in the year 2018:
Veena Malik And Asad Khattak:
Veena Malik and Asad Khattak got married in 2013. Veena Malik has made her career both in Pakistan and India by then. She was a controversial celebrity and people were showing multiple feelings about the union of the two. The couple had a fairytale wedding and they no doubt looked great together and complimented each other. They have two children together, a boy and a girl. Veena and Asad got separated last year due to some issues but got back together. Things looked well between the two from the outside but at the end, it did not work out and the couple got divorced this year with Veena confirming the news a few months back.
Mathira Mohammad And Farran J. Mirza:
Mathira also is a celebrity who has been a part of controversies time and time again. Mathira’s marriage news broke out also in a very controversial manner. She got married to then-husband Farran, a Dubai based singer in an intimate ceremony in 2012 and kept her relationship personal. Mathira was expecting her son when people like always started to make stupid speculations to which Mathira announced that she has married in a private ceremony. The couple has a son together but parted ways this year due to some unavoidable circumstances. It was tragic as the couple looked beautiful together but it had to happen so it happened.
Fiza Ali And Fawad Farooq:
Fiza Ali got married to Fawad Farooq in 2007 and the couple looked happy together. However, people were shocked when they found out that things were not going well for the couple and they have parted ways. Fiza’s divorce was very quiet and she has gotten married to Ayyaz Malik this year too which she announced on her social media. Fiza and Fawad share a beautiful daughter Faraal. We wish Fiza a lot of happiness in her new journey with Ayyaz and wish that she finds her forever.
Aisha Linnea And Shahbaz Shigri:
Beautiful model Aisha Linnea got married to actor/director Shahbaz Shigri in 2012. The couple was together for about a decade and was sure one of the most beautiful couples of Pakistani entertainment industry. Aisha has been avoiding social media for about 2 years now and she came back on Instagram finally a few months back when she announced that the couple is divorced and they are not together any more thus breaking out a very sad news for her fans and followers.
Sanam Baloch And Abdullah Farhatullah:
The most beautiful and bubbly couple Sanam Baloch and Abdullah Farhatullah embarked on a journey of life together in the year 2013. Both of them got married very fast after meeting at Samaa TV where they both were working at that time. Since the start of the year 2018, Sanam and Abdullah were not being seen together and people started speculating about a separation when Sanam changed her name back to her maiden name on her Instagram, Things were not confirmed back then but Sanam came on Samina Peerzada’s show Speak Your Heart With Samina Peerzada where she confirmed that her and Abdullah have parted ways and are not together anymore thus putting a stop to the rumour mill.
Relationships break and people get separated. no doubt this makes a person get into a lot of heartbreak and sorrow. We wish that each one of these people find their happiness back and be more peaceful and successful in their respective lives because as they say that life must go on!
Bollywood movies have a massive fan following in Pakistan. Though the films do not release in the cinemas anymore, fans watch them on OTT platforms after their release. The latest rage in Bollywood is Ranbir Kapoor and Bobby Deol starrer Animal. The film which was deemed very violent managed to gross millions on the box office all over the world. What many people do not know is that a Pakistani starlet was also a part of the film.
Actress Shafina Shah played Bobby Deol aka Abrar’s second wife in the movie. Her screen time was limited and she did not have many scenes but she still made her presence felt and people loved how she performed.

Pakistani actors went and made a name for themselves in Bollywood. Fawad Khan, Saba Qamar and Mahira Khan did really great in the field of acting while Atif Aslam and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan were the go to singers for every Bollywood film.
Things went south however, after political escalation and Pakistani stars were banned from performing in the Indian Film Industry. It was IIFA Awards night yesterday and our own Khuda Aur Mohabbat actress Sadia Khan was seen attending the IIFA Awards. She shared soem beautiful clicks from the event with one picture with Bollywood superstar Salman Khan who has a huge following in Pakistan. Check out:
Pakistani actress Aleena’s mother was brutally murdered. The actress was invited to Faysal Qureshi’s morning show and revealed the whole scenario which will bring tears to your eyes!
Nimra Khan is a very popular Pakistani television actress. She is famously known for her innocent face and pretty smile. The beautiful actress has huge Instagram following. She is excellent actress and fans love to see her in dramas.

Talking about her favorite politicians, Nimra Khan said that she said that she likes Nawaz Sharif because she has seen the development of Lahore. “I don’t know anything about politics, I only know Lahore is beautiful but Parvaiz Mushharaf was my favorite politician, I thought Pakistan was changing in his time, I think Imran Khan has gotten government on a wrong time during Covid outbreak”, added Nimra Khan.
It’s a sad day for the Pakistani entertainment industry as yet another Pakistani actress has been found dead. A Pashto stage actress Anum, also known as Anushay, was found dead in Islamabad.
Anum, who is a mother to a three-year-old has also worked in several films and dramas. According to the post-mortem report, the actress has been shot 5 times. Police and other witnesses accused her security guard for committing the murder and the guard has been taken into custody.
Pakistani actress Humaima Malick, for her poignant performance in the unconventional movie BOL, this star lady has won prestigious awards throughout. Gifted with natural intelligence and beauty she has touched the hearts of millions by playing a role of Zainab in Shoaib Mansoor’s BOL. Now Humaima is all set to take the lead role in an upcoming Bollywood movie “Sher” with the big names of Bollywood planet i.e. Sanjay Dutt, Paresh Rawal and Vivek Oberoi.
The film is directed by the well-known Soham Shah, who tapped the apexes of fame and success in his last two movies, Luck and Kaal. The film is to be shot in Jaipur, Gujarat and Rajasthan and sources reveal that it is undeniably a heavy budget film of Bollywood film industry. Humaima will be made out in drop dead gorgeous epitome in Shah’s Sher.
Soham Shah notified, “Humaima is playing a prominent role in the film. She is playing a Bollywood actress. It’s a period film and she has got a glamorous look in the film unlike ‘Bol’.”
Humaima Malick is born to be a star. It looks as if she is destined to achieve prominence at a very young age of her life. Victory is constantly seemed in her bag, whether it’s the Best Actress award at the 11th Lux Style Awards 2012 or Best Actor Female award at London Asian Film Festival.
While working out for the best, Humaima has passionately declared that, “I feel I’m crossing the border with a role that echoes my earlier film. Like my character in Bol, here too, my character revolts against patriarchy. I am not just the male protagonist’s wife.”
The huge talented actor Sanjay Dutt, who has done different kinds of roles from an ordinary lover boy to a mobster to comedian and has carried to life a good number of characters that could be an inspiration for the new breed of actors, Humaima is said to being mentored by Dutt. Not only he has taken her under his wing and is guiding her about work in the Soham Shah’s film “Sher”, but he’s also counseling her on how to go about her career in showbiz.
The film shooting is almost completed and it will soon be released by the end of this year. Shah verified, “We have finished the entire shooting of the film and just two songs are left. They have to be shot with Humaima. This is not an item number, but the audience will see Humaima’s dance number in one of the songs.” “We shot the entire film in July and August in Jaipur. It was a 50-day schedule,” he added.
We hope Humaima will gain an edge with a new blockbuster!

Pakistani dramas have garnered a huge international acclaim. The local dramas are now cherished by audiences worldwide. Well, these acclaimed dramas aren’t always perfectly written and executed. We often see many flaws in the dramas in the form of bad execution, continuity issues, inappropriate casting and low production. Lately, the drama makers are making the mistakes with the casting as well.
Most of the drama makers are now casting the renowned middle-aged actors in parental roles. Actors like Kashif Mehmood, Zainab Qayyum, Amir Qureshi, Aly Khan, Laila Wasti, Mehmood Aslam, Omair Rana, Sohail Sameer, Shamyl Khan, Nauman Ijaz are being given the characters of parents. Although, these actors have the passion for work and perfectly transitioned into the parents of protagonists who are above thirty but the viewers didn’t like them as parents of the mature actors. The audience and the actors are of the view that the appropriate casting brings seasoned actors to the forefront and it also enhances the storytelling.
All the actors who have played older characters often talk about it. Lets see what these actors have to say about it:
Rehan Sheikh
Rehan Sheikh recently appeared in Green Entertainment’s Ramadan transmission. In the transmission, he replied to the question about playing father’s character. Rehan Sheikh said that he does not mind playing the character of father but the character should have some substance. Now, they cast the actors just because they need a father for a character, which doesn’t offer much to the audience.
Aijazz Aslam
Aijaz Aslam said that he can even become the father of anyone including Nadia Khan, but the character should be impactful.
Nadia Khan
Nadia Khan also said that she has set a limit for herself and she doesn’t want to play the character of the mother of mature kids, who are more than eighteen. Here is the link to the video:
Mehmood Aslam
Mehmood Aslam also opened up about playing the character of his age mates, saying, he refused to play the character of Nauman Ijaz’s father because he’s exactly of Mehmood Aslam’s age. Here is the link to the video:
Omair Rana
Omair Rana also opened up about becoming father of mature actors. He said he doesn’t mind playing the character of fathers but the story should have substance. He also said that he won’t mind playing father of anyone as good looking as Khushal Khan. Here is the link to the video:
Saba Faisal
Saba Faisal also opened up about playing the character of Humayun Saeed’s mother. She said that she was reluctant while becoming Humayun Saeed’s mother because of the less age gap. Here is the link to the video:
Brothers are the kind of friends who are always there by your side no matter what. Quite a few of our celebrities are lucky enough to have brothers who are by their side through thick and thin. We have compiled a list of famous Pakistani actors with their brothers. These actors are really close to their brothers. Some of them keep on posting emotional things about their close relationship with their brothers on social media. Their pictures are beautiful and surely you will be really happy to see them together. Do watch the video till the end and don’t forget to share your views in the comments section.
Someone once said, “Almost nothing need be said when you have eyes.” This is very true. Not everyone’s eyes reflect what is going on in their mind or what they are going through but there are some people whose eyes say so much that their eyes are full of more language than anything they say with their words.
An actor’s facial expressions have big role to play in his acting and even when they are modeling. There are some actors who have such expressive eyes that when you are watching their play you can feel everything that their character is going through by the expressions in their eyes.
Here is a list of actors with the most expressive eyes:
Hamza Ali Abbasi:
Hamza Ali Abbasi hasn’t worked in too many dramas but he has proved his mettle by playing the role of Afzal in the hit drama serial “Pyare Afzal”. Hamza Ali Abbasi expresses his emotions whether it is happiness or anger through his eyes without even trying very hard.
Fawad Khan
Who can forget Asher’s eyes? The love he felt for Khirad, the rage he felt when he thought she cheated on him and the agony he went through when he found out his mother was behind all that happened to him. When you think of that Character you are bound to think about Fawad Khan’s eyes which conveyed all these emotions impeccably. He also makes full use of these eyes when he is out to shoot for a brand.
Nauman Ijaz
Nauman Ijaz’s eyes were a hit right from “Dasht” days. Whoever has watched that classic drama can never forget the first time Atiqa Odho’s character laid her eyes on those eyes! There was a song dedicated to that moment. Even now in every drama Nauman Ijaz expresses his emotions more through his eyes than his expressions.
Adeel Hussein
His eyes smile with him and cry with him too! Adeel Hussein has the kind of expressions in his eyes which make you forget that you are supposed to listen to the dialogues too because his eyes say enough.
Imran Abbas
Yes! we get lost in his eyes when he uses them to show his love for his heroines or when he uses them to show his anger when he is betrayed. You can feel his character’s pain in Imran Abbas’ eyes which is what makes his acting so real. He also makes his modeling pictures come to life because of the expressions in his eyes.
Bilal Abbas Khan
Bilal Abbas Khan is a relatively new actor but he has won everyone over with his brilliant performances in several dramas. He has the most charming eyes in the business and he does not even has to try very hard to use them in his favor while acting! His eyes do the expressing themselves with minimal effort by the actor himself!
Zahid Ahmed
Anyone who has watched Zahid Ahmed perform would agree that he knows only too well that without using the eyes to express different sentiments, an actor can never really enact his character on screen in the perfect way. Zahid Ahmed makes sure his eyes speak too when he delivers his dialogues.
What do you think? Do these actors have expressive eyes? Share your opinion in the comment section.
My apologies if this article reminded you of the song “Eye to Eye” ;)
Someone once said, “Almost nothing need be said when you have eyes.” This is very true. It takes a lot for an actor to achieve their dreams & prove their craft. After the actors become a part of the industry, they often face such phases in their career where they do not get much recognition for the work they do. Sometimes, an actor gets a good break and that is enough to kickstart their career but not all the actors are so lucky and they have to constantly work hard. It is a norm that an actor’s work go unnoticed despite the amount of effort they put in or the hard work they do and they have to accept it and keep on pushing in order to earn the success they dream of.
Different projects do different things for the actors, sometimes it is the team behind a project that succeeds in getting them the attention they deserve, sometimes it is the characters they play that earns them the recognition. In some cases, the drama or a project becomes so popular that it turns the actors into overnight stars. We have seen a lot of such actors who have struggled their way up and have worked hard to be where they are at this stage in their careers. In year 2019, a lot such actors who were a part of the drama industry for so long got the attention and fame they have been working for and some of them got another level of recognition and fame. In 2019, these actors got the opportunity to showcase their talent and the kind of projects they choose for themselves ended up helping them in leaving a mark and long lasting impression on the drama viewers.
Let’s take a look at those actors whose career graph definitely went up in 2019 and they touched a new level of success:
Imran Ashraf
Imran Ashraf is an ace actor. He has always given his 100% to the characters that he has played but he has always been assigned the supporting characters. It was the first time in 2019 where Imran Ashraf got to carry a drama on his shoulders and he not only succeeded in doing so, he left the entire industry and drama viewers awestruck with the amount of talent that he has. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi has definitely given Imran Ashraf a new level of success. He should take a bow and the credit for the popularity of the drama because Bhola was an iconic character and only Imran Ashraf could do justice to it. After this drama, Imran Ashraf has touched a new level of success and we couldn’t be more proud of him.
Ayeza Khan
Ayeza Khan already is a well-established actress. She has been a part of a lot of superhit projects but somehow she was finding it hard to leave a mark in terms of acting but 2019 proved to be the year for her. Ayeza Khan’s drama automatically do well in terms of popularity because she has a huge fan following and her association with any project is enough to grab viewers’ attention. In the beginning of 2019, her drama Koi Chand Rakh did really well in terms of ratings and viewers enjoyed seeing her playing a role of a selfless but strong-willed individual. However, before 2019 ended, it gave Ayeza the best project of her career till date and she has been able to prove that she can definitely portray difficult and complicated characters with finesse. Mere Pass Tum Ho’s popularity is exemplary and Ayeza’s portrayal of Mehwish has to be the best acting that she has done in her career.
Humayun Saeed
Humayun Saeed is already a big name of the Pakistani showbiz industry, however he has become very selective with the kind of work he wants to do especially when it comes to dramas. Humayun Saeed had taken a long break from dramas and made a come back with Dil Lagi and then Bin Roye. Dil Lagi was highly appreciated because it showed the kind of work Humayun Saeed was going to do but no one saw Mere Pass Tum Ho coming. Mere Pass Tum Ho can be termed as a turning point of Humayun Saeed’s career and it has given his fans all the more reasons to be excited for his future projects. This drama has given Humayun Saeed a new level of popularity and recognition especially in the dramas. He has already made a name for himself in the movies after the revival of Pakistani cinema but for a drama to achieve this level of success is commendable and it won’t be wrong to say that Humayun Saeed is a man with the vision behind this project and we are grateful that he decided to take charge and play the role of Danish. 2019 definitely is one of Humayun Saeed’s best years.
Emmad Irfani
Emmad Irfani is also one of those actors who has had a hard time proving himself. He always settled for supporting characters and even then did not really get much attention until this year. He has been successful as a model but when it came to acting, Emaad Irfani had his fair share of struggles. He starred in Cheekh and it definitely turned things around for him in the sense that he proved he should now be taken seriously as an actor. Emaad Irfani got to play the character of Shayan and that was one such character that was loved by all those viewers who watched Cheekh. A star studded project with a character where he got to leave a mark by getting to showcase his acting skills was a game changer for Emmad Irfani and it definitely did wonders for his career.
Yumna Zaidi
Yumna Zaidi is also one of the finest actors of Pakistani drama industry. She has been a part of this industry for a while now but it is unfortunate that she was underrated and despite giving such phenomenal performances every step of the way, she was barely recognized for her work and talent but things have changed and we couldn’t be happier for her. Yumna Zaidi has earned herself a fan base purely on the basis of her immense talent and unique approach towards acting. She is a performer and a fine one at that. Year 2019 definitely was her year where she earned a huge amount of appreciation for her drama Inkaar. Now she is showcasing her talent in Ishq Zahe Naseeb as one of the most complex characters we have seen in our dramas in a long time and the way she has portrayed it is brilliant. Yumna Zaidi deserve every ounce of appreciation and recognition for her immense talent and 2019 brought her just that.
Hira Mani
Hira Mani is a fine actor. She is not only good at acting but she has that eye to pick up those projects where she gets to showcase her acting skills. Hira has had a smooth start right from the beginning of her acting career where she grabbed the attention since her first big project as a main lead in Preet Na Kariyo Koi. Hira Mani has been touched new levels of success and fame but 2019 was definitely her year. In the first half of the year her drama Do Bol became a megahit where drama buffs could not stop talking about it. It definitely gave Hira Mani a lot more attention than she has been getting for her dramas and acting. Looks like 2019 definitely was her year because she is ending it on a high note by being a part of blockbuster Mere Pass Tum Ho and playing a substantial role in it.
Iqra Aziz
There’s no denying to the fact that Iqra Aziz has already proved herself, she has made a name for herself and has done the kind of work that has allowed her to show her acting skills. However, 2019 was definitely a successful year for her where she experienced a new level of fame. Iqra Aziz’s 2nd season of Suno Chanda became popular and was widely followed by drama viewers and then came Ranjha Ranjha Kardi which was another feather in her cap. Iqra Aziz was perceived to be the kind of actor who would at times go overboard but by performing Noori she showed that she was capable of performing such layered and complex characters with so much maturity which is rarely seen in actresses of her age group. 2019 definitely was good to Iqra Aziz and we are already looking forward to her future projects.
Neelam Munir
Neelam Munir definitely had a great year. She has been a part of the industry for such a long time and has worked in a lot of dramas playing different roles but did not earn a lot of recognition until her drama Dil Mom Ka Diya. Although Dil Mom Ka Diya ended in December 2018, it opened up a new domain for her. Neelam Munir’s currently on air drama Kahin Deep Jalay is also doing well in terms of popularity and she has finally gotten a chance to show that she is a fine actress who can carry a drama on her shoulders single handedly.
Ali Rehman
Ali Rehman has been lucky enough to be a part of some of those projects who became popular with the viewers but his popularity fizzled out after Diyar e Dil. This year however Ali Rehman definitely did really well and got a chance to leave a mark where he starred in superhit drama serial Khaas. Ali Rehman had to play a very complicated character but he not only did justice to it but stayed in his element from beginning till the end. Ali Rehman made the viewers hate the character of Ammar and it was his success as an actor. Ali Rehman’s movie Heer Maan Ja also did well and was probably the only movie this year which got more or less positive reviews. Ali Rehman’s success has definitely reached a new level in 2019.
Alizeh Shah
This year was Alizeh Shah’s year as well. She has been lucky that right from the very initial stages of her career, she started getting the attention but now Alizeh Shah is getting to be a part of some of those projects which are produced by big banners and have ensemble star cast. Alizeh Shah’s dramas Jo Tu Chahay where she is starring opposite Imran Abbas made a lot of buzz. Another mega project Ehd e Wafa has done wonders for Alizeh Shah as well. Ehd e Wafa is being widely followed by the masses and it is an achievement for her. She also starred in Mahira Khan’s movie Superstar and earned herself a lot of appreciation for her work in the film as well. Alizeh Shah has her fans excited for what’s in store for them in 2020.
Muneeb Butt
Muneeb Butt has been a part of the industry and has worked in a lot of dramas. He is one of those actors who are easily seen on TV all year round in different projects but 2019 was different from the previous years that he has been active as an actor. In the beginning of 2019, Muneeb Butt’s drama Kaisa Hai Naseeban became quite popular and was well received by the drama viewers. This was one of the superhit dramas of 2019 which achieved good ratings. Muneeb Butt then got to be a part of a star-studded Koi Chand Rakh. The drama did well in terms of ratings and popularity as well but it was one such drama which was not directed with a vision and had a lot of flaws, however Muneeb Butt proved to be the only good part about that drama and his portrayal as Umair was outstanding. Muneeb Butt got to show that he is now a very refined actor who is ready to take up challenging roles.
Haroon Shahid
Haroon Shahid got to be a part of two superhit drama serials; Do Bol and Khaas. In both these dramas, he played different characters but gave them more or less a similar treatment. However, in 2019 Haroon Shahid definitely got an opportunity to not only enjoy the fame but also showcase his acting abilities. He has proved himself to be a very mature actor and we hope we get to see him opting for more challenging roles in the future. 2019 definitely allowed him to place his name in the list of those actors who got recognition for their brilliant work.
Wahaj Ali
Wahaj Ali is a part of Ehd e Wafa and he has gotten a chance to show his acting abilities to the point where the viewers wait to see the developments in his track. Ehd e Wafa has definitely done wonders for Wahaj Ali and we can definitely say that 2019 proved to be a turning point in his career, this is something that even his friend Maya Ali testified about as well and we truly believe her. Wahaj Ali has shown his fans what he is capable of and that he is a very sophisticated actor and performer who knows what he does. We are excited to see his future projects.
Zarnish Khan
Zarnish Khan has also been a part of the industry for a long time but in 2019, she definitely proved that she has come back stronger than ever with an entirely different lookout on her career and acting. Zarnish Khan has worked a lot on herself, she seems far more groomed and the kind of acting that she has done in her dramas Jo Tu Chahay and Ishq Zahe Naseeb shows that she is not afraid of challenging herself anymore. We totally believe that Zarnish Khan is one of those actors who can do justice to substantial characters and we hope we get to see more such work from her.
Zara Noor Abbas
Zara Noor Abbas is comparatively a new addition to the industry but she has been a part of some of the good projects. However, 2019 definitely opened up doors to success for her. Zara Noor Abbas got to be a part of 2 films and she was appreciated for her body of work. This year definitely ends on a high note for her and is getting her a lot of appreciation and recognition for her portrayal of Raani in Ehd e Wafa. This is definitely an iconic character and it is commendable the way Zara Noor Abbas has portrayed it. She is well and truly deserving for all the praises, appreciation and success.
This concludes the list of those actors whose career took a turn for the better and they got the recognition that they definitely deserved for outstanding acting as well as successful projects. Which of these actors and performers are your favorite? Please feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section below.
There is absolutely no denying the fact that Pakistan has a horde of talented actors and actresses. In fact our television industry produces some of the very best dramas in the whole world.
Many of our film actors started off their careers as television actors and became successful in the medium. However, when these actors opted for doing a film, some of them badly flunked. A number of successful Pakistani television actors had their first films flopped on the box office.
Here we bring you a list of Pakistani actors who didn’t manage to impress the audience with their first film;
Shahroze Sabzwari
Shahroz Sabzwari’s cinematic debut came along Syed Noor’s Chain Aye Na. The film turned out to be a major disappointment not only for its viewers but also for the actors as well. Adil Murad too acted in the film and so did Sarish Khan. Both have been lost from the showbiz front, ever since then.
Eshal Fayyaz
Eshal Fayyaz made her screen debut with Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s Kaaf Kangana. The film not only flopped but also didn’t manage to earn any good reviews despite having been a joint Khalil ur Rehman Qamar and ISPR production.
Saeeda Imtiaz
Although Saeeda Imtiaz has filmed Kaptaan first, the film awaits it release yet and Saeeda’s first film turned out to be Javed Sheikh’s Wajood. Saeeda was cast opposite Danish Taimoor and the film was a major flop on the box office.
SyraYusuf
Syra featured in the multistarrer Chalay Thay Sath. Although the film promoted cross border friendship and had a different approach, it toppled on the box office and couldn’t earn big monies.
Sajal Aly & Feroze Khan
Sajal Aly and Feroze Khan both made their cinematic debut with Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai in 2016. Although an acclaimed actress, Sajal’s debut film was a big flop in cinemas across Pakistan.
Sahir Lodhi
Sahir Lodhi debuted on Pakistani cinema with Raasta. The film, a major flop, garnered a lot of negative reviews and failed to excite the audience or the critics both. Raasta turned out to be a big disappointment.
Noor Hassan & Sanam Chaudhry
Noor Hassan and Sanam Chaudhry made their cinematic debut with Jackpot. The film came and went on cinemas but didn’t earn any money. Even after it was re-released, it failed to make an impact.
Adeel Chaudhry
Although he had worked in a number of Bollywood films before, Adeel Chaudhry made his Pakistani film debut with Maan Jao Na. Again, the film was a big disappointment, not only for Adeel but also for Irani actress Naaz Nourozi.

Haroon Shahid
Haroon Shahid made his cinematic debut with Shoaib Mansoor’s Verna. Although the film had the makings of all the hit, with Mahira Khan in the lead and Shoaib Mansoor as the director, it turned out to be a failure on the box office.
There are a lot of Pakistani actors who have the most brilliant acting skills yet they have never worked together. Apart from the on-screen chemistry, the kind of script an actor chooses to play matters a lot. Therefore while there are some actors who would most surely make the best on-screen couples, it is also necessary that the drama they are working in together should have a quality script. Only a good script can bring out the best in any actor. Some of these actors however should surely be seen together in dramas since they would look great on-screen.
We would love to see these wonderful actors as on-screen couples in one of the upcoming dramas.
Hania Aamir and Bilal Abbas Khan
Hania Aamir and Bilal Abbas both have proved that they are remarkable actors. They were also seen together in a commercial recently but they have never worked together in a drama serial. Since Hania Aamir shares great on-screen chemistry with all her co-stars, we are pretty sure that she and Bilal will make a great on-screen character. By Playing Abdullah’s role so impressively in Pyar Ke Sadqay Bilal has shown everyone that he can play a complex role effortlessly. Hania Aamir has done a lot of bubbly and reckless characters back-to-back. All such characters went through a transformation and were punished in the end. Now, it is time for Hania to play a different role in which she can be seen in a more mature role, someone who has her life under control. Bilal and Hania will surely look fantastic on screen.
Sajal Ali and Ahmed Ali Akbar
Sajal Ali is the most versatile actress of the Pakistani drama industry. When it comes to giving the right expressions, no one can beat her. Ahmed Ali Akbar can easily be termed as the most underrated actor of the industry. He recently gave a heart-wrenching performance in drama serial Ehd-e-Wafa. Sajal and Ahmed have never worked together in a drama so one can only imagine how amazing they will be together. Both of them excel in all genres therefore the possibilities are endless. Watching them together in a beautifully penned down drama would definitely be a dream come true!
Ayeza Khan and Fawad Khan
These two Khans have the most charming looks and they are also exceptionally talented. It would be nothing short of a treat for all the Ayeza and Fawad fans to watch them pairing up in a drama. Fawad Khan does really well even if the character he is playing is simple and Ayeza would do wonders in a role different from the ones she has been seen in recently. Maybe, this could be the perfect pairing for Ayeza Khan’s debut on the big screen!
Srha Asghar and Ahad Raza Mir
Srha Asghar has shown her versatility and prowess as an actress by playing the role of Washma impeccably well on screen in drama serial Pyar Ke Sadqay. Ahad Raza Mir has proven his versatility time and again through different roles, he has played in some of the recent drama serials. If these two are cast together in a project, they will make the perfect on-screen couple. Srha Asghar has yet to make an impact in a leading role, if she is shares screen with Ahad Raza Mir it will be the best way to make an impactful appearance in a leading role.
Neelam Muneer and Syed Jibran
It is actually surprising that these two actors have never played the leading role as an on-screen couple in any of the dramas. They worked in Qaid-e-Tanhai together but they did not have a single scene together since Syed Jibran’s character was part of the past rather than the present. Neelam Muneer has given some exceptional performances recently and Syed Jibran also won the viewers over by his superb performances in his latest dramas. Syed Jibran has largely been typecast after Chup Raho therefore it will be good to see him in a different role opposite Neelam Muneer, who is constantly seen playing different roles.
Do you want to see all these Pakistani actors as on-screen couples in dramas? Wouldn’t they look great together if they are part of a drama that offers something new and appealing? Share your views and don’t forget to add to the list.
India is our eastern neighboring country, and has a thriving film industry known as Bollywood. Both Pakistan and India got independence from Britian in 1947, after which the local film industry in Pakistan also flourished producing many notable artists, musicians, singers. Indians films have always been popular and followed in Pakistan, but in past 67 years very few Pakistani actors have worked in Indian films. As compared to actors Pakistani singers/musicians have been more successful in India.
This article is a compilation of Pakistani actors who acted in Indian films. Interestingly the first such incident was in 1980’s more than three decades after independence. Till 1980’s Pakistani Urdu and regional cinema of Punjabi and Pushto was booming. But in 1980’s Urdu cinema gradually faded while regional cinema continued its progress.
From 1977 – 1988 Pakistan was ruled by dictator General Ziaul Haq, during his reign Pakistan enjoyed very warm relations with neighboring India. Though Ziaul Haq put many restrictions on Urdu films but he has close friendships with many Pakistani and indian actors. Many Indian artists like Shatrughun Sinha and Dilip Kumar visited Pakistan during his reign, where they warmly welcomed at President House. General Ziaul Haq also encouraged leading Pakistani actors to work in Indian films, a move he thought to bring two countries even more closer. There were also many regular bilateral cricket series played during Zia’s era.
So then in 1980’s any such incident where a Pakistani actor has worked in an Indian film was a normal thing and none of the actors was ever questioned for loyalty or patriotism. Instead it was termed as good will gesture while the artists were termed as goodwill ambassadors.
Salma Agha
Salma Agha is basically a british national of Pakistani and Indian origin. Her father Agha Liaqut was a trader and mother Zareena Agha had also worked in Indian films in 1950’s. Salma Agha’s aunt (khala) Shaheena Ghaznavi had also worked in few Pakistani films in 1950’s. Salma is brought up in London and she rose to fame from her first superhit Bollywood film named Nikaah in 1981. Salma also provided vocals for the film and also won Filmfare award for best singer in Nikaah. Throughout 1980’s Salma continued working in Indian films. In mid 1980’s Salma came to Pakistan to work in Pakistani films as singer and actor.
Nadeem
Nadeem is undoubtedly super star of Urdu cinema of Pakistan. He ruled the Urdu cinema for more than three decades. Following warm relations of Indian and Pakistani as a goodwill gesture in 1986 Nadeem was perhaps the first ever Pakistani national to work in an Indian film. He appeared in a negative role in Indian film named Door Desh where Raj Babbar was the main protaganist. To this date, it is the only bollywood film of Nadeem.
Muhammad Ali and Zeba
Muhammad Ali and Zeba, a premiere couple of Pakistani film scene also worked together in an Indian film in 1989 named Clerk. Muhammad Ali has personal terms with many politicians indcluding former Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He even served two months in jail for supporting Bhutto under Ziaul Haq regime in late 70’s. But gradually the bitterness faded and Ziaul Haq and Muhammad Ali became friends. Muhammd Ali also has warm relations with many Indian artists who use to stay at his home in Lahore during visit to Pakistan.
On personal interest of Ziaul Haq, Muhammad Ali and Zeba agreed to work in film Clerk directed by Manoj Kumar who was also a friend of Muhammad Ali. Clerk has some big names like Rekha, Manoj Kumar, Ashok Kumar but before its release General Ziaul Haq passed away in a plane crash in August 1988. To everybody’s surprise Muhammad Ali and Zeba had a very less screen time with minor roles in Clerk and both of them were wasted in this movie. Muhammad Ali expressed his discontent at his closest friend Manoj Kumar for cutting short his role in the movie.
Talat Hussain
Talat Hussain a very fine artist known for his examplary acting also played a supporting role in one Indian film. In Pakistan Talat Hussain has worked in both films and television, though he is more known for his work on television. Talat Hussain appeared as a lawyer in Indian film Souten ki Beti in 1989.
Zeba Bakhtiyar
Zeba a pretty face hails from an influential family of Pakistan. Her father Yahya Bakhtyar a prominent lawyer also served as Attorney General of Pakistan and was leading lawyer of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto for famous Kasuri Murder case. Yahya Bakhtyar was married to a western lady named Eva Bakhtyar, so the family has dual nationality. Apart from Pakistani nationality, Zeba Bakhtiyar also holds a foreign nationality.
Zeba first appeared in a long play Anarkali in 1989 on television and was applauded more for her beauty rather than acting skills. Zeba Bakhtyar first appeared in Indian film Hinna opposite Rishi Kapoor in 1991 which was produced by legendary Indian artist Raj Kapoor. Hinna was successful, and afterwards Zeba also worked in few other Indian films.
Till Zeba Bakhtiyar, the response of Pakistani press and public was quite favorable towards Indian films starring Pakistani artists. Infact Hinna was also widely viewed and appreciated in Pakistan on VCR on video tapes.
Mohsin Khan
Mohsin Khan is a famous cricketer who married indian artist Reena Roy in 1980’s and migrated to Mumbai where he also started his acting career by appearing in many Indian films. Batwaara in 1989 was perhaps his first movie. After breakup with Reena Roy, Mohsin came back to Pakistan and worked in many local films.
Somy Ali Somy Ali basically belongs from USA. She was born in Karachi and later shifted to USA. Her father was Pakistani so she can be termed as an American-Pakistani. Somy Ali worked in many Indian films in 1990’s. She was famous for dating Salman Khan in that era as well. Somy never worked in any Pakistani production.
Aneeta Ayoob
Aneeta Ayoob was the first full Pakistani national female artist to work in Indian films. Before Aneeta Salma Agha has worked on her british passport and Zeba Bakhtiyar also worked on her foreign passport (US or Ireland) in India, but Aneeta went to India with her Pakistani passport. Aneeta was studying acting from an acting institue in India where she was offered a role by famous Indian artist Dev Anand for film Pyaar Ka Trana in 1993. Pyaar Ka Trana failed miserably at Indian box office but Aneeta was casted in another film Gangster also produced by Dev Anand. In 1993, India was shocked by a series of bomb attacks in its financial capital Mumbai (then Bombay).
The hostile Indian government refused to issue visas to all Pakistanis passport holders, thus Aneeta forced to leave India midway through the shooting of film Gangster. Later Gangster was completed outside India but it also failed at box office ending the Aneeta’s career in Bollywood.
Back in Pakistan Aneeta was widely criticized not for working in Indian films but for her bold photoshoots for some Indian fashion magazines.
Aneeta Ayoob was the last in a series of artists who worked in India from 1980’s to 1990’s. After Aneeta no Pakistani actor crossed the border for almost a decade. Meanwhile in Pakistan the fading Urdu cinema reached its end, thus halting film making. From early 2000’s many new satellite Pakistani channels emerged which revived Pakistani drama industry providing recognition to new breed of artists. Also the generation born and raised during and after 1980’s was in full bloom now. Though most among this new generation do watch Indian movies with same craze as earlier generations, very few of them have ever seen any Pakistani actor in a contemporary Indian film.
From 1999 – 2006 Pakistan was again under the dictatorship of another General named Parvez Musharf. Like General Zia, Pakistan also enjoyed warm relations with India during Musharraf regime, so cricket ties are resumed and Indian cricket team visited Pakistan after a gap of nearly 15 years. Same was the case for arts and showbiz, under these favorable relations many Pakistani artists started seeking work in Indian films. But unlike Zia’s era when such act was termed as a good will gesture, most of these artists generally faced hostile attitude from general public, press, electronic media and social media some even questioning their faith and loyalty.
During the same era, ban on screening of Indian films in cinemas is lifted (it was imposed in 1965) which proved a positive step towards cinema industry. Indian films received overwhelming response and whole heartedly welcomed by Pakistani cinegoers and since then Indian films are making new records of business in cinemas.

P.S. Special thanks to my niece Samia Wajid as well who has helped me to compile this list especially for the artists who worked in bollywood after 2000.
The world of showbiz is more or less about glitz and glam. This is the reason why celebrities are looked up to by general people and their fans for fashion and styling inspiration. There are always such celebrities that when they join the industry, they focus more on their craft but as time passes by, they slowly realize how important it is to look presentable at any given occasion.

Although they do get the time off but when it comes to their presence on or off social media, they make sure to look good. This kind of demand of the job has pushed a lot of celebrities to come out of their comfort zone and change the way they style and carry themselves. This has made the celebrities a lot more conscious and this is the reason, more and more actors are seen amping up their looks and style game totally.
Let’s take a look at the Pakistani actors and celebrities who upped their style game in 2020:
[lwptoc]
Ayeza Khan
Ayeza Khan is blessed with natural beauty but she wasn’t always stylish. She was well-known for her simple, barely any make-up and most of the time similar looks in dramas. Lately, Ayeza Khan got herself recognized as an actress who is known for her stylish dressing sense and attractive make-up looks perhaps more than her acting projects. The looks she was seen sporting in Mere Pass Tum Ho were some of the best we have seen this year. In Mehrposh Ayeza Khan’s bridal and no make-up looks were also impressive throughout. Other than that, Ayeza Khan got herself recognized as a model who looked stunning in all her photoshoots. She was always known for her bridal makeovers and this year she also sported the trendiest casual looks in some of her photoshoots. She was continuously seen experimenting with different looks in acting and modeling projects. Ayeza Khan massive transformation over the years resulted in making her one of those actresses who were loved for their sense of their style in 2020.
Sana Javed
Sana Javed has been associated with the Pakistani drama industry for a long time now but this year was when took her social media presence seriously and impressed everyone to no end. Sana Javed has groomed herself a lot and it shows with the way she carries herself. During the lockdown and the month of Ramzan, she got associated with Jeeto Pakistan, that is when she earned a huge fan following because of the gorgeous eastern outfits that she carried gracefully. This was the time when people actually started noticing Sana Javed’s on-point styling and looked forward to her new posts every day. Sana Javed herself keep everyone up-to-date with her outfit choices and showed that she was now taking it seriously. However, this year Sana Javed really redefined her fashion sense and showed that she can not only carry but rock both eastern and western looks effortlessly because she dresses according to what suits her and compliments her overall personality. The characters that she plays in drama may not give her the liberty to experiment a lot with her looks and outfits but when it comes to her personal fashion sense, she has really changed it for the better. She has a dynamic personality that can make any look work and this is the reason she is getting approached by leading fashion labels for modeling because of how effortlessly stunning and stylish she looks.
Sonya Hussyn
For the longest time, Sonya Hussyn did not pay much attention to her wardrobe or styling. She was always a phenomenal actress but it was only recently that she got herself recognized as one of the most stylish actresses as well. She changed the way she dressed up and styled herself a couple of years back and this year Sonya Hussyn looked absolutely stunning in all her acting and modeling projects. She made sure that each one of her appearances in interviews and all of her posts on social media showed her stylish side. Even in dramas such as Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida and Ishq Zahe Naseeb which didn’t have a lot of room for glamour; Sonya Hussyn looked her best throughout without looking out of place. Everything from Sonya’s styling to the wardrobe she chose to wear was extremely chic throughout the year. Sonya Hussyn is also one of those few actresses who look great in Eastern and Western outfits. She made sure that she was seen sporting the latest fashion trends. She has also discovered the perfect make-up looks for her face, which accentuates her beautiful features.
Yumna Zaidi
Yumna Zaidi joined the industry at a very young age. She was one of those very few celebrities who totally believed in her craft and stayed focused on it. This is exactly how Yumna Zaidi carved her niche and proved herself as an actor. There was a time when Yumna Zaidi didn’t even wear makeup in her dramas as she believed that her acting and craft will speak for themselves and that will be more than enough. This year Yumna Zaidi decided to change and she not only worked on her overall styling but her hair and makeup too. She was seen in Pyaar Ke Sadqay and Raaz e Ulfat this year and in both the dramas, Yumna looked at her absolute best. It is a fact that Yumna Zaidi doesn’t need a lot of makeup, therefore she has now figured out the kind of makeup that looks good on her and has used it to her advantage because there’s no denying the fact that she looked stunning in Raaz e Ulfat. Yumna Zaidi may play unique characters in her dramas but she has started focusing on her wardrobe, her overall hair, and makeup. This year, on social media, she also posted such pictures which showed her new look and got a lot of appreciation for it.
Maya Ali
Maya Ali is another top actress in the Pakistani drama industry who has evolved right in front of our eyes. Her evolution started when she signed her first film Teefa In Trouble and since then Maya Ali has polished her dressing sense more than ever. This year she looked stunning in all the looks she carried whether it was a festive look for a family wedding or a casual one while she was stepping out of the home. She is more focused than ever on her career and has big plans for the future. She knows that in order to make it big in the industry looking classy is just as important and giving convincing performances. We loved how she styled herself in 2020 and the way she carried herself in Eastern and Western outfits.
Mansha Pasha
Mansha Pasha made her presence felt in 2020 and she also changed her style altogether. She wore some of the most beautiful outfits designed by the top designers of the fashion industry and was actively involved in the looks she carried on screen. Mansha Pasha did her styling and make-up herself for the drama serial Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida and she looked especially trendy in Western outfits. She was also seen training hard to trim down and look fit. Clearly, looking her best was a goal that Mansha Pasha set for herself this year and she succeeded as well. Even though she upped her style game, she kept things real by sharing the tricks and tips she had learned with her fans as well. She was confident enough to make appearances on social media without any make-up as well which went to show that she was still equally confident in her own skin. Mansha Pasha is surely an actress to look out for in 2021 because she is determined to make it even bigger in the industry.
Imran Ashraf
Imran Ashraf is one such celebrity who first made a name for himself by proving what a great actor he is. Imran Ashraf started off as a character actor and nailed every single role like it was written for him. However, after Ranjha Ranjha Kardi when Imran Ashraf unlocked a new level of fame and success, he realized how important it was to embrace the criteria set for a celebrity. Imran Ashraf definitely understood that his fans now had a very different kind of expectations from him therefore he had to do something new to keep on impressing them. Imran Ashraf’s transformation is exemplary where he not only lost weight but got into great shape to be the hero that his fans would like to see. He has also started focusing on his looks and styling, this is why he has gotten a lot of appreciation for how he has styled the character of Adam in the drama serial Mushk. Despite the fact that Adam is a very simple character in terms of his nature, Imran Ashraf has paid a lot of attention to his wardrobe and overall styling that make him stand out a lot. It is interesting to note how far Imran Ashraf has come in terms of styling and how he is staying in touch with the fashion trends and a sense of styling which is a requirement of his job.
Saba Qamar
Saba Qamar has been a part of the industry for a long time now. When she started she got ahead on the basis of her talent and sheer hard work. Saba Qamar was always the gorgeous celebrity who was loved by her fans but slowly and steadily, over the years she worked on her overall appearance and looks as well. She has explained that she wouldn’t mind carrying extra weight because that is her preference but due to the nature of her job, she has to stay fit and look a certain way. This year, during the lockdown, Saba Qamar not only launched her own Youtube channel but took social media seriously as well. She put a great effort into posting different pictures because this was her way of staying connected with the fans. Saba Qamar came up with so many different looks and her pictures were self-explanatory that she was amping up her style game like never before. All the pictures posted by Saba Qamar, be it in western or eastern outfits were enough of proof of how far she has come and how effortlessly she can rock any style.
Danish Taimoor
Danish Taimoor changed his style game massively when he appeared in his first film. This was definitely the beginning of the evolution that ended up making Danish Taimoor one of the most stylish actors we see on screen today. He stood out in dramas such as Ab Dekh Khuda Kya Karta Hei, Mera Rab Waris, and Deewangi because of his stylish demeanor which added to his screen presence. A few years back who would have thought that Danish Taimoor will make it to this list since he never worked on his styling or outfits back then! Just like his wife, he has also worked hard to look great on and off-screen.
Kinza Hashmi
Kinza Hashmi is another one of those young actresses who understand the importance of social media. This is the reason, this year Kinza Hashmi was seen in a completely different avatar. She has not only groomed herself but has upped her style game to a whole new level. She wears what she is comfortable with the most and shows how such casually picked outfits can look stunning too. Kinza Hashmi has also kept her social media feed rolling with new perfectly captured pictures almost every single day. It shows that she has put in a lot of effort and has definitely impressed everyone with her styling game. Kinza Hashmi was seen in the drama serial Uraan this year and even in the drama, the outfits picked by her were stylish. Kinza Hashmi definitely understands that looking good is just as much a part of her job as polishing and refining her craft is.
Zarnish Khan
This year, Zarnish Khan took everyone by surprise when she made her presence felt in the drama serial Ishq Zahe Naseeb. She played the role of a businesswoman and her styling was just perfect because it matched the dynamic of the character. This goes to show that Zarnish Khan has definitely started paying heed to the overall personality and styling trends because they add an edge to her portrayal in dramas. Zarnish Khan is a natural actor but it shows that she too understands the importance of being fashionable and stylish. This year, she posted a lot of pictures that gave her fans a glimpse into her personal life and it showed that she is very much a fashionista and a diva even in her real life. She has lost a lot of weight and loves to flaunt it by wearing such stunning outfits that accentuate her petite figure even more. Zarnish Khan has also changed the way she does her hair and makeup and that definitely is a good change.
Saboor Aly
Saboor Aly has been a part of the industry for a long time now. It won’t be wrong to say that Saboor always got overshadowed by her sister Sajal Aly in the initial years of her acting career, however, this year was definitely the year for her. Saboor Aly has gained a massive amount of popularity due to his currently on-air drama serial Fitrat. Another factor that has played to her advantage is her presence of social media. Saboor Aly always keeps her fans up to date with her new and fashionable look. Saboor Aly has also given a very stylish and trendy look and appeal to the character of Faria that she plays in the drama serial Fitrat. This is the reason that initially her looks and styling was being noticed. She has definitely come a long way and after being surrounded by so many stylists and designers, she has understood how to make any look work.
This completes the look of all those Pakistani actors and celebrities who have upped their style game in 2020. Do you agree with the list? Which other actor has changed their styling game this year? Feel free to add more names to the list.
It is an actor’s job to always look good and presentable on-screen. The camera demands certain kinds of basic or in some cases no-makeup looks so that the concerns of the skin are not accentuated on the screen. For an actor, wearing makeup is a must, irrespective of the actor being a male or a female. The kind of makeup an actor wears is purely based on their personal preferences. Where some actors prefer to wear a lot of makeup, some actors do not really pay much heed to it and focus on their character and acting skills.
It is a bitter truth that fair complexion is often associated with beauty in Pakistani society. This is the kind of trend that has become prevalent all over Pakistan with skin clinics offering whitening injections to help those who have some kind of complexes related to their skin tones.
Over the period of time, a lot of young actors who joined the industry did come forward and spoke openly about how they were discriminated based on their skin color and how bluntly the producers had suggested them getting some kind of skin whitening treatments in order to lighten their complexion. There are a lot of actors who proved their mettle through acting only but we also got to see some actors changing their makeup preferences to appear fairer on-screen.
The makeup is basically a mask that comes off by the end of the day but to see a lot of actors and actresses wearing makeup lighter than their skin tone does reflect that they may not be comfortable with their complexions like how they used to be and they also want to look fair. It is interesting to note that despite having so much of experience, these actors have either ignored or missed the point that HD cameras pick every speck of makeup that is applied on their skin and not only that, the actual skin tones peek through as well.
Let’s take a look at the actors who try to look fair on-screen:
Zahid Ahmed
When Zahid Ahmed joined the showbiz industry, he immediately earned himself the title of ‘tall, dark and handsome’. For a considerable amount of time, Zahid Ahmed was appreciated for being comfortable in his skin and flaunting it confidently but not anymore. Over the period of time, Zahid Ahmed has started wearing a lot of makeup and foundations which are 3 or 4 shades lighter than his skin tone. In drama serial Pukaar, Zahid Ahmed actually looked a lot fairer than he actually is. Then came Visaal and now in Ishq Zahe Naseeb, his obsession with looking fair is pretty evident because of the kind of makeup he wears.
Fahad Mustafa
Fahad Mustafa became a part of the industry at a very young age, therefore his transformation and change in his looks, styling and overall personality is not a secret because his before and after pictures are widely available on the internet. Fahad Mustafa has definitely undergone whitening treatments to look fair and this is why the change in his skin tone is not only evident but is drastic. Fahad Mustafa is the kind of actor who does not mind resorting to any such procedures if they guarantee him looking good on screen, this is the reason why the difference in his complexion is obvious. Fahad Mustafa also doesn’t mind wearing lighter foundations to look fair.
Sanam Saeed
Sanam Saeed was known for being herself unconventionally and unapologetically. Sanam Saeed was one of those very few actresses who only focused on their acting and characters and looking glamorous was never her priority but that has most certainly changed over a period of time. When Sanam Saeed resumed work after a long break, she came back with a different mindset. In drama serial Deedan, her makeup, hair and glamour made her character look unreal. Sanam Saeed also wore a lighter shade foundation to look fair as well. Sanam Saeed always took pride in being just herself at her utmost comfort in her skin, therefore this new change in her styling makes one wonder whether she is still accepting of her skin tone or not?
Mohib Mirza
Mohib Mirza has also been a part of the industry for a very long time. More than acting, Mohib Mirza has showcased and proved his talent in terms of hosting. Mohib Mirza has been the kind of actor who does one project after a long gap, therefore he puts a lot of effort into giving a different look and styling to his characters. In his recent drama Deedan, it was quite obvious how Mohib Mirza had worn a lighter shade of foundation to look fair. In a recently released image of Mohib Mirza, he seems a lot fairer than ever before and it does make us wonder whether he has also jumped on the bandwagon and gotten skin whitening injections?
Jia Ali
Jia Ali has always spoken highly about how she is comfortable in her skin and how much she loves her beautiful dusky complexion but not sure what happens when she decides to work in drama serials. Jia Ali has been a part of a lot of dramas as a supporting character and her makeup is always off. She makes sure to look whitewashed in all of her dramas – this is something that was quite obvious in dramas like Pukaar and recently ended Meer Abru.
Imran Abbas
Imran Abbas is one such actor who wears a lot of makeup, to the point where his eye shadows, lip glosses and cheekbone highlighter is always picked up by the camera. Imran Abbas’ skin tone falls in the spectrum of fair tones but the kind of makeup he wears makes it obvious that he is trying to achieve an even fairer complexion which makes the amount of makeup worn by him even more visible on screen. May be Imran Abbas has not found the right shade of foundation that will do justice to his real skin tone and that is why he seems whitewashed in most of his dramas.
Zarnish Khan
Zarnish Khan has gone through a drastic transformation which shows she is now very conscious of the way she looks and wants to appear in her dramas. Zarnish Khan has not only changed her overall styling and her preferences but she also seems to be quite focused on looking glamorous and made up. Zarnish Khan is currently seen in dramas Jo Tu Chahay and Ishq Zahe Naseeb and the kind of makeup she has worn in both these projects shows that she has decided to look fairer than she actually is. Her overall makeup has been decently done but yes, the difference between her makeup and actual skin tone is pretty visible in every single scene.
Saad Qureshi
Saad Qureshi is comparatively a new addition to the drama industry but his obsession with makeup and looking fair is pretty evident. Saad Qureshi has worked back to back in dramas like Pukaar, Meer Abru and he is currently seen in drama serial Mehboob Appke Kadmo Mein and in all of his dramas, the kind of makeup he has worn goes to show that he is trying to achieve a fairer complexion.
This concludes the list of those actors who try to look fair in their projects. Do you think this trend is acceptable and do these actors look good or they should stick to their beautiful natural skin tones and embrace them with utmost confidence? Share your thoughts.
Award Shows have been gaining much more popularity among the masses and the channels. Over the years, different channels and even brands organize their own award shows. Each year there are more categories than the previous year. This year there were even social media awards. Through public voting online, people also get a chance to choose their favorite actors and actresses in different categories. There are a few well-known Pakistani actors who have more than once spoken against these award shows. The majority of them have spoken against these shows because they do not think that they are authentic, others think that they are always badly organized. All of these actors openly talked about how rigged these shows are and why they would much rather not attend them.
Here is a list of Pakistani actors who spoke against award shows. Watch what they had to say!
Noman Ijaz
There was a time when Noman Ijaz did not give interviews at all. Now, all of a sudden, he is seen giving more and more interviews. He can easily be termed as someone who is completely unfiltered in these interviews. Noman Ijaz has been nominated for the top awards in the country more than once and he has won these awards multiple times too. It was only recently that he started attended award shows. In two of his interviews, he spoke against these shows because he believes there is no set criterion for nomination or picking the winner. In fact, he feels that sometimes these award shows actually have a negative impact when the deserving candidate does not get to win. He also does not like that a lot of times celebrities much younger and less experienced than the person getting the award are asked to hand it over. Noman Ijaz shared that in his opinion the love an actor gets from people is the real award, these award shows mean nothing to him.
Faiza Hasan
Faiza Hasan has recently given many interviews but most often her discussions are focused on her work. When she was a guest on Ahsan Khan’s show, she shared that she did not like going on award shows. When asked why that was the case, she shared that she got nominated recently and was invited to the show. When she went there, the organizers present there could not recognize her. When she finally found her allotted seat, someone else was sitting on it. She does not like how these shows are organized. According to her the people who organize these shows do not give their guests respect and do not make proper arrangements to welcome and accommodate them. Another time, she was nominated on social media but she never even got a call from the organizers. It is definitely shocking just how badly organized these shows are and what the actors have to go through.
Saba Qamar
Saba Qamar is another one of those celebrities who always speak what is on their mind. When Saba Qamar was nominated in the 2017 Lux Style Awards, she refused to accept this nomination and did not go to the ceremony. While talking to Express Tribune, She said, “Although I am nominated for three different plays, I will not be attending the LSAs as a protest. They never bothered to honor me during the past 12 years and now that I have the Bollywood stamp, everyone is acknowledging me all of a sudden.”
She went on to say, “I have been working in the Pakistani entertainment industry since 2004 and no brand or award show has ever approached me in all this time. Now that I have come back from India, every brand and every award show is running after me. It’s almost as if they just noticed my presence.” Saba Qamar also questioned the authenticity of the nominations in her own way and it is clear that she is not a big fan of the system of nominations.
Shamoon Abbasi
Shamoon Abbasi’s reasons for not liking the award shows and not wanting to be a part of them are completely different. He shared his opinion when he was talking to Ahsan Khan on his show. He said that when you are nominated, it is a special night for you but not everyone present on the award functions is happy for you. Shamoon feels that the overall atmosphere of these shows is affected due to the jealousy and judgmental nature of many of the co-stars. Apart from that, he also agreed with Faiza Hassan that the award shows are never organized properly which can also be really frustrating.
Badar Khalil
Everyone knows what Badar Khalil went through when she was asked to get up from her seat and sit somewhere else because Sultana Siddiqui wanted Fawad Khan to occupy her seat. This turned into a big controversy and public supported Badar Khalil. She openly talked about the treatment meted out to her on the HUM Awards function and decided to quit acting altogether. In a recent interview as well she talked about how hurt she was by all this and she went on to say that awards mean nothing if you cannot give respect to the person, you are giving an award to.
Mohsin Abbas Haider
Mohsin Abbas Haider showed his discontentment with the nominations system when his drama Meri Gurya was not nominated in a single category in the Lux Style Awards. He is another one of those actors who in a way pointed out the flawed system of nominations. Although his song was nominated in the best song category, he thought that his drama also deserved nominations. He went on to criticize Lux Style Awards for its lack of quality because surely in his opinion if quality mattered to them, Meri Gurya wouldn’t have been ignored this way.
Even designers and singers have often talked about how badly organized award shows are. It seems like most of these shows are meant to please a handful of big wigs and even some of the best and most veteran actors are not given the respect they deserve.
The new year has started and with this year we wish to see some of our favorite Pakistani actors on television. These actors have not been seen on television for a while and their fans would love to see them acting again in dramas. All of these actors are brilliant performers who have always left their mark every time they appeared in dramas. They also have massive fan following yet they make their fans wait for years before they make an appearance. Some of these actors took a break only recently but it would be great if this year, they are seen in dramas again. With the Pakistani film industry flourishing, some of the best actors have shifted their focus from dramas to television. These actors obviously want people to buy a ticket to see them perform. In most countries it is a norm that film actors do not act in dramas but in Pakistan, there are many actors who work in films as well as in dramas. Therefore it would be great if some of these actors could make their comeback in dramas this year especially because not everyone gets the chance to watch the films.
Here is the list of those talented Pakistani actors who should make a comeback in dramas in 2020.
Fawad Khan
Fawad Khan acted in a few dramas and then he started working in Bollywood. Once he came back to join the entertainment industry in Pakistan, he did very limited work. He is either seen in commercials or makes guest appearance in films. His fans miss watching him perform since he started his career with dramas. Although Fawad Khan is making sure that he makes his fans wait to see him perform on the big or the small screen but it would be such a treat if he could make a comeback in dramas this year. Any drama he chooses to be a part of will be an instant hit since there are so many people who anxiously want to see him in dramas again. It would surely be a dream come true for his fans.
Mahira Khan
Mahira Khan too it seems has chosen to work on the big screen and she has not yet shown any interest in working in dramas. Mahira Khan for the longest time was known as a drama actress. Now, there are so many of her fans who watch her movies just to see her perform. Mahira Khan is undoubtedly a superstar whose name sells dramas and films. We would love to see Mahira Khan making a comeback in dramas this year. Mahira Khan is another actress who hasn’t been part of a lot of dramas yet she is extremely popular among the masses. Her comeback in dramas will be the perfect gift for her fans who miss watching her on the small screen.
Fahad Mustafa
Although the fans get to see Fahad Mustafa regularly on television since he hosts a game show on one of the leading channels but he has not starred in a drama for many years now. Fahad Mustafa too has shifted his focus to films and production. His films have done really well and his performances in these films have captivated his audience every time. Fahad Mustafa was always known as a powerful character actor. His fans would love to see him performing in a drama again since he is such a versatile actor who has so much to offer.
Mehwish Hayat
Mehwish Hayat is another actress who has not been seen in dramas ever since Dillagi. After giving a remarkable performance in Dillagi, Mehwish Hayat also decided to work in films alone. She does not even talk about working in dramas again which is rather sad. There are so many viewers who would love to see Mehwish Hayat in yet another powerful role which is different from the one she played in Dillagi. Could 2020 be the year when Mehwish Hayat makes a comeback in dramas? We sure do hope so!
Alishba Yusef
Alishba Yusef is an incredible actress with an acting style which is different from others. Alishba has also not been seen acting in dramas for many years now. Alishba never pursued acting as a full time career but she always took up a drama after every few years. This time around the pause has been longer than ever. She has simply left acting for now but it would be great if she would make a comeback this year.
Maya Ali
Although Maya Ali too it seems has moved on to films but wouldn’t it be great if she makes a comeback in dramas? Most of the viewers miss watching Maya Ali on the small screen since she also has a massive fan following. Maya Ali’s last play on television Mann Mayal was a huge hit and after that she has not been seen in dramas again. Would you like to see her in a drama this year?
Aiman Khan
Aiman Khan was part of quite a few dramas right before she got married. Now, she was more focused on her married life and she also had her baby therefore she took a break from dramas. We are wondering if 2020 would be the year when she makes a comeback. Aiman Khan did say before getting married that she might leave showbiz but later on she also said that her decision was not definite. Aiman Khan is still young therefore if she makes a comeback now, she has a long career ahead of her. The fans are waiting for Aiman Khan to announce her comeback on television.
Most of the actors in this list got fame from acting in dramas but they prefer films over dramas now. While film is a much bigger medium and it is every actor’s dream to work in films but many people in Pakistan still do not go to cinemas to watch films. For them the only way to see their favorite actors perform is to watch their dramas. It would be incredibly nice to see these actors making a comeback in dramas in 2020.
Which one of these actors do you want to see making a comeback in dramas in 2020? Share your views in the comments section.
Pakistani drama industry is flourishing with every passing year. Unlike a few years back, the leading actors, in particular, have so many novel scripts to choose from. Yet, there are still some actors who settle for the most mediocre scripts and refuse to experiment. Even though these actors are talented as well as popular, they choose to be part of dramas that are most often either clichéd or simply meaningless. Their fans tune into the dramas they star in because their fan following is massive but most often they are left highly disappointed. The fact that these stars are still followed and loved by many despite the choices made by them in the recent past, goes to show their star power. Some of them have been part of quality dramas in the past but lately, they are either too comfortable playing similar roles or perhaps look for monetary incentives instead of quality while choosing their projects. It is especially disappointing watching them star in dramas that are not up to the mark because there are so many other roles in quality dramas that could have been perfect for them. We would love to see these actors choose better projects which give them a chance to step out of their comfort zone.
Here is a list of those Pakistani actors who should choose better projects:
Imran Abbas
Imran Abbas has been an integral part of the Pakistani drama industry for the longest time. He has given some remarkable performances in different dramas. He has definitely proven his mettle as a serious actor in the past but lately, it appears as if he does not take his acting career too seriously. He has been playing similar roles in dramas repeatedly. Had these roles been layered and meaty, we would have been more than happy but that has not been the case. Imran Abbas picks up the most undesirable roles in dramas that are solely meant to be commercial hits. His roles in dramas such as Thora Sa Haq and Amanat were literally the same! Jo Tu Chahay was yet another drama that Imran Abbas termed as a mistake himself. Noor-ul-Ain and Dar Khuda Se were equally unimpressive. It is sad watching a man with so much talent, wasting himself working in such dramas. We really hope that this year Imran Abbas will make a conscious effort to break free from the bad choices he has made since 2018 in particular. Surely, he does not need to compromise on quality since he can easily stay relevant even if he is seen on screen only occasionally.
Feroze Khan
Feroze Khan is one of those few Pakistani actors who made a big name for themselves in the shortest possible time. Even though he has a handful of dramas to his credit, his name alone guarantees ratings. This is the reason why it is even more disappointing that he has been choosing to play roles that fit the Mir Hadi persona time and again. In between, he tried to experiment only once. Other than that, in every other drama, he plays the problematic lover. There are so many viewers who watch his dramas solely because of him. Feroze Khan can make you love or hate his characters which is why he should be playing layered roles or at least roles that break the monotony. We have no idea what is Feroze Khan’s criteria for choosing the projects he wants to work in but so far he has not chosen to play a lot of roles that could become memorable in the true sense of the word. Interestingly enough, he is another actor who stars in dramas that are criticized but are also the most-watched. We would love to watch Feroze Khan play a layered role that is unlike any other he has done so far.
Alizeh Shah
Alizeh Shah is a relatively new actress but there’s no denying the fact that she is one of the most sought-after actresses in the industry. In her entire career, Alizeh Shah has only once been part of a project which could be termed as quality entertainment which was Ehd-e-Wafa. Other than that, she is most often used as a way to add to the visual appeal of dramas. Her characters most often have absolutely nothing to offer. She manages to bag roles which are leading roles but they don’t have any screen presence. Jo Tu Chahay, Mera Dil Mera Dushman, and now Bebasi are examples of some of the worst projects chosen by the actress. If she continues choosing such roles then there is little chance that she will be recognized as a serious actress. Alizeh Shah also has a massive fan following which will definitely increase if she starts choosing to be a part of better projects. This makes us wonder why she was not given a role in Sinf-e-Aahan, do the producers want her to be a visual treat for the viewers alone. The way her ‘beauty’ is being used as the center of attention in Bebasi, certainly suggests that might be the case!
Mikaal Zulfiqar
Mikaal Zulfiqar started his showbiz career when he was really young. He is blessed with good looks and when he is part of a project which is well written, he manages to impress as well. Durr-e-Shehwar, Diyar-e-Dil, and Mein Sitara are some dramas in which he played roles that offered variety and were well written. However, if we take a look at the kind of roles Mikaal has been doing lately, it is apparent that he is not only being stereotyped but he has comfortably accepted to play roles that have no room for performance. Just like Imran Abbas, his roles lack appeal altogether. It is almost as if he does not even want to try something different. We hope that Mikaal Zulfiqar will realize that he is depriving his fans of watching him truly perform by taking up such projects and choosing to be a part of a quality project. He has so many actors his age and experience to look up to who are experimenting; we would love to see him following their lead.
Usman Mukhtar
When Usman Mukhtar made his first television appearance in Anaa as a problematic character, he made this character memorable by adding charm to it. He caught the attention of the viewers immediately and the fans were left wanting to see more of him. He made a comeback with Sabaat which was an absolute disappointment. Even though the drama had a star-studded cast and the credentials overall were impressive on paper, the role Usman Mukhtar played confused many! Just when the viewers thought that he couldn’t have chosen the worst role to play, he graced the screen as Aswad in Hum Kahan Ke Sacchay Thay who was just as twisted and confused as his character from Sabaat! We are hoping that Usman Mukhtar will be choosing better projects in the future because we hate to see so much star power going to waste! We would not want him to become another Feroze Khan of the industry!

Pakistani drama industry has so many new and old actors who have transformed themselves massively over the years. Although an actors’ performance makes him stand apart from the crowd, there is no denying the fact that looks play an important role as well. The fact that outward appearance makes or breaks an actors’ career has been reinforced by many celebrities who are brilliant actors but do not meet the beauty standards of the industry. While there are those celebrities who have undergone cosmetic procedures to alter their natural features to get more projects, there are others who want to be accepted the way they are.
While we appreciate those actors who did not resort to desperate means to get more work, we fail to understand why there are certain actors who lack basic grooming even though they have played leading roles in big dramas. Hairstyle plays an important role in enhancing the overall appearance of an individual. With the best stylists at their disposal, it is also relatively easier for celebrities to style their hair in the best way possible. However, there are some male actors in particular who have recently been seen sporting some of the worst hairstyles. So much so that there were times when it was difficult to understand how and why they allowed someone to style them in such a manner.
Here is a list of those Pakistani actors who definitely need to change their hairstyles:
Usman Mukhtar
Usman Mukhtar gained a lot of popularity after the drama serial Anaa went on air. Even though the character he played in the drama was not likable, his performance and screen presence impressed many people. It can be easily stated that the fans fell in love with his performance more than his looks. Therefore, Usman Mukhtar was never one of those actors who became famous because of their good looks. However, ever since he made a comeback to television, his hairstyle has been just as bad as the roles he chose to play! In order to hide his receding hairline, Usman Mukhtar has used everything from a wig to make-up!
While previously, he played a leading role in dramas, we understand the pressure to look younger and handsome but in Sinf-e-Aahan he is playing a supporting role, yet his stylist’s desperate attempts to make his hair look fuller show the undue pressure on male actors. He could have easily carried his everyday hairstyle in the drama but perhaps he was not allowed to do so. However, even then, Usman Mukhtar could have directed his stylist to do a better job, or perhaps the director could not have taken close-ups from angles that simply accentuated the awful styling. We really hope that he finds a good stylist soon because he desperately needs one.
Azaan Sami Khan
Azaan Sami Khan recently made his acting debut with the drama serial Ishq-e-Laa. His performance got mixed responses from the public. Just like Usman Mukhtar, Azaan also lost a lot of weight and went through a massive transformation in order to fit the role of a ‘hero’! Since he was going to play a leading role in a big drama, his stylist went the extra mile to cover up his receding hairline. In trying to do so, he made Azaan Sami’s hair look unnatural and the sharp dark artificial line on his forehead stands out for all the wrong reasons. Azaan Sami definitely passes as an actor who even with so much exposure and excess has not been able to find the right stylist who could help him sport a style that would make him look younger but would also be more natural. Since Azaan’s on-screen journey has just started, we hope that as he goes forward with his career, we will see him in hairstyles that are more natural-looking and which do not prove to be such a distraction.
Ali Ansari
Ali Ansari started his acting career as a supporting actor. Over the years, he is one of those many actors who have transformed themselves in order to look more handsome on screen. In an attempt to do so, Ali Ansari changed his hairstyle altogether by growing his hair and going for a look completely different from the one the viewers are used to seeing him in. Ali Ansari’s present hairstyle and the overall look he is sporting does not go well with his personality. His hairstyle also looks more outdated than cool. There are also times when it seems as if he is wearing a hairpiece! We are not sure if that actually is the case or not but if it’s not then it is definitely even more reason for him to change his hairstyle. His hairstyle passes as the worst mainly because of the fact that his rather simple hairstyle before suited him more, he should stick to it!
Affan Waheed
Affan Waheed’s off-screen hairstyle has remained the same over the years. While we appreciate the fact that he has the confidence to carry this hairstyle even now but it is about time that he does not only experiment with his styling in dramas but also changes his hairstyle in real life. Affan also needs to change his hair parting, which would be the first step towards changing his hairstyle. In some of his recent dramas, he was seen in sleek hairstyles which suited him. He should definitely take inspiration from there and change his styling accordingly.
Ali Abbas
Ali Abbas is also one of those many actors who took help from the professionals in order to have a fuller hair look so that he could cover his receding hairline. And like many other such actors, he has stuck to a basic hairstyle which all those actors who want to cover their receding hairline are seen supporting. The puff in the front and the rest of the hair at the back most often make it look like he is wearing a wig which he might be wearing but we cannot be sure! Ali Abbas should also go with a sleeker cut and get rid of the puff forever because no one is going to miss it. He also needs to change the way he parts his hair.
There are actors such as HSY who are proving that you can embrace your natural hair and still look great. We wish that more actors would follow his lead or at least be comfortable with the styling that does not look unnatural and unappealing on-screen. What do you think about the actors on this list? Are there any other actors who you feel should change their hairstyle? Share your views.
Social media nowadays plays a major role in keeping Pakistani actors connected to their fans. There are many different forums where these actors get a chance to express themselves. Their social media personalities sometimes can be reflective of their real-life personalities since most of the actors run their social media handles themselves. Some of these actors have a presence that cannot be ignored on social media but others simply do not put in the kind of effort which most of their fans would like them to put into running these social media handles.
It is really difficult for an actor to strike a balance because sometimes when they are too active on social media that too generates criticism. However, we think that since social media’s importance cannot be denied, some of these actors really need to be more active there. Their fans are often disappointed with how rarely they make an appearance especially on some of the social media forums and others simply stay away from social media unless they have something exciting to announce.
Here is a list of those immensely talented and popular Pakistani celebrities who should be more active on social media.
[lwptoc]
Fawad Khan
Fawad Khan deserves the top slot on this list for obvious reasons. Even though he is the most sought-after Pakistani actor he rarely updates his social media handles. Most often, he prefers sharing something related to his work and it would be safe to say that his social media accounts are exceptionally boring. The fact that he has not even given many interviews and he has not been seen on television often too just goes to show that Fawad Khan is really confident that his fans will continue watching and loving him irrespective of the lack of effort on his part! Fawad Khan continues to be one of those very few Pakistani actors who get a lot of love even though they do not even try to stay connected with their fans. Fawad Khan really needs to be more active on social media since otherwise too his fans hardly get to watch him perform on any platform at all.
Hamza Ali Abbasi
Hamza Ali Abbasi was really active on Twitter for the longest time but Instagram was never his favorite social media platform. He is another actor who is exceptionally popular even though he is only seen on the television screens only once a year. Nowadays, he is busy writing his book therefore he is inactive on all the social media platforms and posts rarely. Since Instagram is one of the top social media platforms, we expect someone with the kind of fan following Hamza Ali Abbasi enjoys, to be, more active on at least Instagram since all it takes is uploading a picture every now and then to stay in touch with your fans. Since he does not have an issue with posting pictures with his family and the fans clearly love these family pictures, posting them regularly would be the perfect treat for his fans.
Sajal Ali
Sajal Ali is a star from the new generation whose popularity and talent are limitless. Although Sajal Ali was always relatively less active on social media when compared to her fellow actresses, her Instagram account was completely inactive after she got married. Lately, she has started posting pictures from her upcoming projects which is a promising sign but overall Sajal Ali needs to invest some time and make her social media handles more active. It is clear that people follow those celebrities on social media who keep on giving them something to look forward to. It is also the expectation of people from their favorite stars to be more active on social media. Sajal Ali is also one of those Pakistani actresses who have hardly had a live chat session with their fans on social media.
Ahad Raza Mir
Ahad Raza Mir gained popularity owing to his talent in the shortest possible time. He is also one of those few Pakistani actors from the younger lot who choose the dramas they are a part of very carefully. He has often talked about how he wants his work to speak for itself and not his family’s name. That could be the reason why Ahad Raza Mir also does not want his social media presence to be the contributing factor to his success. However, the viewers and fans are wise enough to distinguish between actors whose sole claim to fame is their social media following and those who have worked hard to get where they are today. Ahad Raza Mir really should be more active on social media and give his fans a chance to see more of him.
Sanam Baloch
Sanam Baloch is currently enjoying being a full-time mother but even when she was actively doing many projects for television, she never made a conscious effort to stay active on social media. Sanam Baloch is one of those actresses for whom making the effort needed to keep a happening social media account has never been a priority. A few years back her fans were getting to ‘meet’ her daily because she was hosting her own morning show. Now that she is completely out of the picture, it would be good if she stays active on social media because that would be the best way to stay connected with all those who miss watching her on television.
Urwa Hocane
Urwa Hocane has established herself as a serious actor by continuously choosing to play roles that are different from one another. Although Urwa Hocane has a dynamic personality but somehow lately in particular she has not been active on social media. She posts twice a week and sometimes she does not post anything new for weeks. She also never replies to her fans and unlike many other actresses, her social media handles rarely give an insight into what is going on in her life. She has restricted her social media accounts to promote her work although we are pretty sure she can add something more interesting to these accounts. We wonder why Urwa Hocane does not feel the need to keep her social media handles more active but would definitely want her to do so!
Farhan Saeed
Farhan Saeed is a singer-turned-actor who got more fame than ever in the past two years or so. Even his most die-hard fans do not know much about what is happening in his life apart from the work he is doing. The reason for this is that just like many other celebrities on this list, Farhan makes sure that most of his social media posts are about his work. Even when everyone questioned him about his separation from Urwa, he did not use social media to inform his fans about the reality behind the rumor. Farhan Saeed has a massive fan following and his fans would like to see more of him on social media.
Fahad Mustafa
Fahad Mustafa has a vibrant personality and he has expanded his horizon to different fields. He hosts the biggest game show and is also heading the most successful production house in the country. Fahad Mustafa has often talked about how he feels about social media. He wants his work to be his introduction and he does not believe that social media has any kind of authenticity. He accepts that having a social media handle and keep it running is important but he also accepts that he has hired people who manage these accounts and it is rarely ever that he runs these accounts himself. Fahad Mustafa should however involve himself slightly more in running these social media accounts in order to stay in touch with his fans.
Saba Qamar
Saba Qamar is the topmost actress in the country who is also known for her bold stance on different issues. You would expect someone like Saba Qamar to be more active on social media since she is so creative and she has such a massive fan following. However, Saba Qamar has always kept her presence on social media limited. Now that she is running her own YouTube channel she has made her posts even scarcer. She wants people to watch what she has to say on her channel. Saba Qamar usually posts about her upcoming projects on her channel and she sometimes answers fans’ questions as well but we would definitely like to see more of her on social media.
Zahid Ahmed
Zahid Ahmed is known for his level-headed off-screen persona just as much as he is for his on-screen appearance. He has such a strong personality and usually, his take on different issues interests his fans a lot. That is the main reason why we would love to see more of him on social media. With time he has limited his social media presence just like he has limited his appearance in social gatherings. He can easily use social media to interact with fans and impart them with the knowledge he has. We are hoping that we will see more of him on social media in the future.
Are there any actors you would like to see more of on social media? Who do you think should be more active on social media? Share your views.
It won’t be wrong to say that the other name for show business is glam world. The celebrities who are a part of this glam world believe in looking after themselves and rely heavily on makeup. As a matter of fact, make-up is a part of celebrities’ job because they are supposed to look good and presentable at all times. It surely looks nice on red carpets and award shows but when it comes to dramas and translating a character on-screen, the needs and demands are completely different. Quite often the characters in our dramas go through a lot of ordeals which actually requires the actors to look natural in order to make their condition seem more real and relatable but unfortunately, some of the actors totally believe in staying glammed up on-screen too even when the situation is not in the favor of their characters. Yes, it is a fact that some of the makeup is a demand of the camera but at times we get to see make-up clad faces which end up becoming a distraction.
Here is a list of those actors who rely a lot on makeup and totally go over-board whereas they could definitely do well with less is more policy and still look great as well as make their characters come across far more real on-screen:
Ramsha Khan
A comparatively new, fresh, and beautiful face; Ramsha Khan is definitely one such actor who relies so much on makeup that often seems ridiculous. In Mah e Tamam where the roof over Ramsha Khan’s character shattered, her heavy base, false lashes, sharp contour, gel liner, and lipstick just did not budge. Even in the scenes where Ramsha Khan had to cry buckets, the gallons of setting spray kept her makeup intact. In drama serial Khud Parast, Ramsha Khan has definitely kept a light hand on makeup which lets her natural beauty come through but then again, she does seem a bit too made up. It is a done deal that she is fond of makeup but please someone do her a favor and find her the right shade and consistency for under-eye highlighter because it seems ridiculously yellow and ashy all the time.
Ayeza Khan
We really wanted Ayeza Khan to experiment with her looks more but we had never expected that someone like her, who is both talented and great looking will be seen going overboard to look good on screen. In Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei Ayeza Khan’s make-up and her dressing was over the top. In Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua too she paid special attention to her outlook and there were times when it did seem like she was trying too hard. Now in her latest drama Koi Chand Rakh, she is seen wearing excessive make-up perhaps to look like the chand! Ayeza Khan is a natural beauty who needs to tone down on make-up and her reliance on make-up is quite unnecessary. This screenshot from Koi Chand Rukh shows her character attending a funeral of a near and dear one yet the face is overloaded with white foundation, pink blush on left right and center, baby pink lipstick and highlighting is pretty obvious too!
Saboor Aly
Over the years Saboor Alihas definitely experimented with her looks and has given different faces to her characters but one thing has remained consistent and that is her heavy makeup. Recently in Visaal Saboor Ali’s character went through a lot of mental pressure but the wing of her eyeliner was in all its glory at all times. Saboor has definitely made some changes and has gone light-handed on the foundation but she needs to cut down on the eye makeup too because, in one of the scenes where she was not wearing thick black eyeliner, she looked 5 years younger and very pretty which she naturally is.
Imran Abbas
Imran Abbas is a constant in this list every time it is made. What’s funny is that he never admits he uses makeup but the viewers are intelligent and have amazing eyesight and all the more thanks to 1080p quality uploads on YouTube which give all of his secrets away. Foundation, Concealer, Eyeshadow, Eyebrow Pomade, Bronzer, Cheek Tint, Highlighter, Lipstick, and at times Lip Gloss, you name it, you’ll find that makeup product on Imran Abbas’s face. In dramas like Yaar-e-Bewafa and Noor-ul-Ain where his co-stars Sarah Khan and Sajjal Aly did not wear much makeup, Imran Abbas did the honors and wore makeup unke hissay ka bhi. In Koi Chand Rakh, the green-toned foundation from his kit (which should be thrown away) is making its appearance in all its glory these days as well.
Mehwish Hayat
We don’t remember the last time we saw Mehwish Hayat on-screen with minimal make-up. Mehwish Hayat relies a great deal on make-up and very often her makeovers just like many other actors in this list are the center of attention. Everything about her look right from her hair to the contouring on her jawline is always picture perfect. Even when Mehwish Hayat was not that well-groomed, she wore plenty of make-up and relies heavily on it. She has also mastered the art of wearing perfect subtle make-up which is always on in every scene. In this screenshot from Dillagi Anmol is getting ready to go to bed!
Zara Noor Abbas
Zara Noor Abbas has a very pretty face but the look that she goes for the mostly bechari characters that she plays is quite glam. In dramas like Khamoshi and Lamhay where Zara Noor Abbas’ characters went through a lot emotionally and everything was quite draining for her where the world left her on her mercy, quite amazingly her kajal and blush stood by her like a rock. Also, the huge puffy hairstyles Zara usually chooses by relying heavily on extensions add up so much screen age to her. Zara Noor Abbas can definitely do much better without so much makeup and she should let her natural beauty shine through.
Agha Ali
Agha Ali is one of those actors who at times pay more attention to their styling and make-up than their acting. Even if he is seen playing the role of a man who has nothing going for him at all (Shahmir from Mere Bewafa) he makes sure that he looks like a knight in the shining armor. Agha’s hair is always gel backed in the perfect manner, his highlighting, eye make-up and the well-shaped and dyed beard is also a constant part of all his looks. This guy looks the same no matter which role he is playing!
Sohai Ali Abro
Sohai Ali Abro has a cute face and her acting is pretty decent too but somehow she has always been seen on screen with the perfect make-up and her hairstyles are always on point too whether or not the situation demands so. It won’t be wrong to say that Sohai’s good looks tend to attract you more while watching her plays than her talent or the characters she is seen playing on-screen. In every play, she is seen in a new look and that somehow is supposed to be the main attraction. Ever actor sports a different look in dramas but Sohai’s constant dependence on glamour and her perfect look from head to toe make her look more like a model even in her acting projects. Even her accessories are very well selected and her hair is never out of place. While watching her on-screen is a visual treat but her over-reliance on make-up is also distracting.
Zahid Ahmed
Zahid Ahmed broke all of his previous records in the drama serial Pukaar where there was so much makeup that distracted the viewers from his acting as they were too busy spotting the unflattering shades pasted on his face. From orange eyeshadow to 5 shades lighter foundation and pink or purple lip tint really made it hard to understand why did Zahid Ahmed let makeup artists do that to him. Zahid Ahmed has never shied away from flaunting his dusky complexion so not sure what went wrong in Pukaar. In Visaal for the initial weeks, Zahid Ahmed’s hideous choice of wig was the talk of the town too. In his recent dramas, he has been seen wearing so much make-up that it is distracting.
Iqra Aziz
Even though Iqra Aziz has really groomed and polished herself and she also makes very good makeup choices, it won’t be wrong to say that she relies heavily on makeup. Iqra Aziz has mostly done serious, emotional roles but her makeup is always on point, even in those scenes where she is crying buckets (which happens all the time). Heavy foundation, properly made up eyebrows and a heavy hand on cheek, nose & lip tint are Iqra’s go-to’s. It would be good if Iqra experiments with her hairstyle or makeup as she looks pretty much the same in all of her dramas. The only time Iqra Aziz did not wear a lot of make-up was in the initial episodes of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi otherwise in Jhooti her attire and make-up both were over the top.
Aiman Khan
Aiman Khanis a natural beauty and we are also convinced that she is quite capable of being a good performer since she has been very convincing in a few of the unconventional roles she has played in her career. Unfortunately, not only is Aiman Khan stuck playing similar roles in dramas but the irony is that she looks her best even when her character is going through hell. Most characters she plays are constantly going through a turmoil yet Aiman Khan hardly ever looks the role. Aiman would look equally appealing with absolutely no make-up on yet she wears so much eye make-up that you tend to notice her eyes more than the stress her character is going through. Heavy contouring is also a constant part of Aiman’s looks. Aiman Khan also finds it difficult to compromise on the length of her heels, she wears platform heels but even when she is working in the house or walking to the doctor, the heels are always there! In this screenshot from Bedardi her character was HIV+ and was going through a really rough time yet the pink glow (blush on), the highlighting on the nose, and the eye make-up is subtle yet on point.
Minal Khan
Minal Khan is another natural beauty who needs absolutely no make-up yet she is seen wearing so much make-up in dramas that sometimes she looks twice her age! Heavy eye make-up with dark lipsticks is Minal Khan’s standard make-up look. Even if she is playing the role of a regular girl going through the worse period of her life on screen, there is absolutely no compromising on make-up. Her overall look in plays can easily pass as “formal” even in times when it should be strictly casual. In this screenshot from Ki Jaana Mein Kon her character was expressing how devastated she was to see the love of her life living a happy life with someone else. So this is basically another day in the life of this character while she is going through depression and agony yet the make-up is as loud as ever!
Sarah Khan
Sarah Khan is one of our flawless beauties but it won’t be wrong to say that she is always a bit too made up too. In Yaar e Bewafa Sarah Khan surely took the natural route because it was the demand of the character but other than that, even in those dramas where the world comes crumbling down on her, her loud makeup stays in place. There was a time when Sarah Khan was obsessed with bright neon pink/orange lips, but now even though her lip color choice may have changed and she may be gravitating towards more natural toned lipsticks, the rest of her makeup is pretty out-there and loud whereas she doesn’t need much as she is naturally very pretty. Recently, In Sabaat, she is wearing so much make-up that she even goes to bed with it!
Asma Abbas
Asma Abbas is a versatile actor who has played a range of different characters over the years. For poorer or richer, in sickness and in health, she has vowed to wear as much makeup as she can. In recent dramas Koi Chand Rakh and Khud Parast, Asma Abbas is flaunting to be an ameer aunty therefore she has given her characters quite an OTT makeup look, but in the drama serial, Daldal where she was quite poor, her thick cakey base and eyebrow makeup was loud too. It’s a done deal that Asma Abbas does not believe in a natural or no-makeup look.
Faryal Mehmood
Faryal Mehmood has also joined the bandwagon in a brief span of time. Ever since she lost weight, she makes sure that she looks the best in all her dramas. Even when she is not wearing loud make-up, her overall look is always such that she looks her best on-screen. Whether her character is going through the most tormenting break-up or she has just learned the ugliest secret, her make-up is always on point. The viewers witnessed this in her recent dramas – Laal Ishq, Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Hei, and Baba Jani. Faryal Mehmood is convinced that apart from good acting, looking great in all situations is the key to success and we beg to differ!
Azfar Rehman
Azfar Rehman is one of those heroes in our industry who wear just as much make-up as their heroines but the only difference is that because they are men, their make-up is terribly off-putting. Azfar’s make-up artists always makes sure he wears enough lipstick to make his lips more conspicuous and his eye make-up is always as obvious as that of his heroines. Looking good is definitely a priority for him which is why we hardly ever see him on-screen without any make-up on.
Mizna Waqas
Mizna Waqas surely knows how to accentuate her features, from a flawless thick base to even thicker eyeliner, heavy contouring, eyebrows, fake lashes, hair extensions, you name it, Mizna Waqas is wearing it. In drama serial Lamhay which is currently airing on Hum TV, Minza is seen bare faced which is a good change and a pleasant surprise seeing her steer away from makeup for a while but other than that, just recently in Tabeer where she came from a humble background, her makeup screamed totally opposite. Mizna Waqas always has a heavy-hand on the makeup and we are interested to see a more subtle/natural look on her.
Sadia Khan
Sadia Khan is gorgeous, there is no disputing that but she also relies on make-up more than is necessary. Even if her character is such that there is no room for wearing trendy make-up, she is still seen wearing it. Sadia Khan makes sure she looks trendy and pretty no matter what role she plays. For instance, in this screenshot from drama serial Shayad, her character was going through the most terrible period of her life and had taken refuge in someone’s house yet her make-up made her look as fresh and stylish as ever!
Sami Khan
Sami Khan is a phenomenal actor who gives every role he plays his best but his make-up is almost always overdone. His heavy reliance on lipstick and eyeshades in particular makes him one of those actors who find it difficult to appear on screen without any make-up. A performer like him who is also pleasant looking does not need to rely so much on make-up.
Sonya Hussyn
Sonya Hussyn has definitely upped her game when it comes to choosing the kind of role she has been playing but her reliance on make-up has definitely not taken a back seat. In her recent dramas even when her characters were going through the worst any character in Pakistani drama has ever gone through, Sonya Hussyn’s make-up was always in place.
Nadia Khan
Nadia Khan has just started acting again and she made sure that she was part of projects which highlighted some important issues. Unfortunately, Nadia Khan killed the impact her characters could have had because of her weak acting as well as her over-reliance on make-up. Her characters this year went through some really tough times but Nadia Khan did not compromise on her make-up and styling even in a single scene. The fact that she is not comfortable with tying her hair has also been a little too obvious in all her dramas.
Bushra Ansari
Bushra Ansari is another brilliant actress who has lately started relying excessively on make-up as well as glamour. Sometimes it seems like wearing make-up and looking the role comes before everything else. She also makes sure that she works in projects in which she can wear as much make-up as she wants and clad as many sarees as she wills! In drama serial Zebaish she is wearing more make-up than ever.
Sana Fakhar
Sana Fakhar mesmerized the viewers with her superb acting skills in many quality projects this year but she is also one of those actresses who tend to sport a caked up make-up look even if the role she is playing does not require doing so. Her make-up, styling, and accessories are always more than the requirement of the roles she plays.
Alizeh Shah
Alizeh Shahis a beautiful new face of our industry and she has gained a lot of popularity in such a short span of time because of her looks as well as convincing acting however, the overly made-up look that she goes for doesn’t do justice to her age. Alizeh Shah has been seen in Ishq Tamasha and Dil Mom Ka Diya, where she has more or less played the same character but the heavy makeup that she chose seemed unnecessary as she can carry herself really well even in very little makeup. She has big eyes so even if she puts an extra effort, it gives her a very made-up look which at times does not suit her character.
Yashma Gill
Yashma Gill is new in the business but her over-dependence on make-up is already evident from the looks she carried in all the dramas she has been a part of till now. Yashma Gill has experimented with more hairstyles than she has with the kind of characters she has played. Her tacky fashion sense also makes her stand out for all the wrong reasons.
Saad Qureshi
Saad Qureshi is another new actor who already has already been seen in many dramas. Saad Qureshi pays special attention to his make-up and styling. He has worn everything from eye make-up to kajal in different dramas and we have yet to see him in a look which is not overdone.
Azekah Daniel
Azekah Daniel has recently started relying more on make-up than ever. In her latest drama serial Tera Ghum Aur Hum her character was critical after a suicide attempt yet she was lying there with winged eyeliner, highlighter, blush on looking like she faked the suicide attempt. Clearly, looking good is a priority for Azekah whether that suits the situation or not.
Seemi Pasha
Seemi Pasha has been working in a lot of dramas lately. She has played all kinds of motherly characters and most of the time she looks pretty stylish in these roles. The problem is that she looks equally stylish with make-up on like she is going to a party even in those scenes which require a no make-up look. For instance, in this scene from Ishqiya she was pleading with the doctor to save her only son’s life who was in ICU yet the amount of make-up she was wearing in the scene was ridiculous. We love Seemi Pasha but she needs to go easy on the make-up and even the styling.
Do share your thoughts about the actors on the list and don’t forget to add more names. We would love to hear from you!
Pakistani artists, actors, musicians, comedians and people belonging to other fields of entertainment have worked in India in the past and gradually the trend is growing with every passing year. There are many Pakistanis who have done more work in India in the recent times than they have in Pakistan. Many of the Pakistani actors feel that art does not have boundaries so they can work anywhere they want irrespective of what ties Pakistan has with India. Some of these actors also think that working in Bollywood is a big leap forward especially when they have already proven themselves in Pakistan. Not everyone thinks like that. There are Pakistani actors who have refused to work in Bollywood even though they were offered big projects. In this video you will find out about Pakistani actors who refused offers from Bollywood. The video also contains the reasons because of which they refused these offers.
Pakistani artists, actors, musicians, comedians, and people belonging to other fields of entertainment have worked in India in the past and gradually the trend grew as time passed. There are many Pakistanis who have did more work in India, back in the days when the relations of the two countries were cordial than they have in Pakistan. Many of the Pakistani actors feel that art does not have boundaries so they can work anywhere they want irrespective of what ties Pakistan has with India. Some of these actors also think that working in Bollywood is a big leap forward especially when they have already proven themselves in Pakistan.
Some of the Pakistani actors have a different mindset, others have worked in Bollywood but they have also refused certain offers. There are Pakistani actors who have refused to work in Bollywood even though they were offered big projects. Most of these actors are happy with their decisions, there are others who regret refusing these projects.
Here is a list of Pakistani actors who refused offers from Bollywood. The list also contains the reasons because of which they refused these offers.
[lwptoc]
Shehnaz Sheikh
Shehnaz Sheikh got an offer from Bollywood when she was really popular owing to her brilliant performances in Tanhaiyan and Un Kahi. She was offered to play the lead in Raj Kapoor’s film “Henna”, she refused the offer and later on Zeba Bakhtiar played this role. No one knows the reason behind this refusal but it is quite clear that Shehnaz Sheikh is not the kind of actress who enjoys a lot of exposure. She was part of only a handful of dramas in Pakistan as well but gained unprecedented success.
Shaan Shahid
Shaan Shahid is on top of this list because he has shown his discontentment with Pakistani actors taking up Bollywood projects repeatedly. He has a bold stance regarding the issue. Shaan is most definitely not one of those actors who refused to work in Bollywood because the offer did not sound good enough. He is also not one of those actors who say that they will work in Bollywood if they get a good project to work on. His way of thinking is totally different. Shaan Shahid has said it many times that he does not want to work in India but he wants to make the Pakistani film industry so strong that one day Indians will come and work in Pakistan.
Shaan Shahid also thinks that Bollywood directors and producers never give Pakistanis the kind of roles which will leave a positive image. Shaan Shahid was offered to play the role of the villain in the film “Ghajini” which was a very popular film. Talking about why he refused to work in the film he once said,
“I refused India once. When I read the role, I knew that they needed a new terrorist face and I said no. In Pakistan, I live in people’s hearts. That’s a huge responsibility. I cannot let them down.”
Hamza Ali Abbasi
Many people do not know this but Hamza Ali Abbasi was offered a role in the Bollywood film “Baby” which Meekal Zulfiqar later accepted after Hamza Ali Abbasi refused to be a part of the film. Hamza Ali Abbasi explained his reasons on his Facebook page many years back when he refused the offer.
In another interview, Hamza Ali Abbasi made it clear that he wasn’t one of those actors who were waiting for another offer from Bollywood. He went on to say that he wanted to stay in Pakistan and work for the Pakistani film industry. Therefore, while he does not have issues with other actors who have chosen to work in Bollywood, he definitely does not want to join them either. He said,
“I would rather work on fostering my own industry. I respect actors like Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan who are working in India while staying true to their roots but personally, I want to develop professionalism and better pay here rather than go in search of it across the border.”
Once the relations between Pakistan and India were not as strong as they back in 2015, Hamza Ali Abbasi urged Pakistanis to stop working in Bollywood.
Humayun Saeed
Humayun Saeed is one of those actors who have tried their luck in Bollywood. He worked in the film Jashan back in 2009. The film was a big miss and that is when Humayun Saeed decided to dedicate his talent solely to the Pakistani entertainment industry. Since then, Hamayun Saeed has rejected many offers from top Bollywood producers. A few years back he might have been uncertain about whether he would work in a Bollywood project or not but now he is very sure that he won’t be working across the border because there is so much he has to do here in Pakistan. In a recent interview, he said straight away,
“I am just not interested. I have so much work here as an actor and producer, I really don’t have the time.”
This statement clearly indicates that Hamayun Saeed is not going to work in Bollywood again because he is enjoying his work in Pakistan. He is made a name for himself over the years and is not one of those celebrities who wish to work in a Bollywood film again.
Faisal Qureshi
Faisal Qureshi is considered one of the most talented actors in Pakistan. In an interview Faisal Qureshi shared that he was offered 2-3 Bollywood films but he refused because the script wasn’t as good as he would have wanted it to be. He also said that he does not want to disappoint his fans. Faisal Qureshi is not one of those actors who don’t want to work in Bollywood but he wants to work only if there is a good project in which he gets a major role to play.
While talking about those actors who have worked across the border he said in one of his interviews,
“People have to make money too. One film in Bollywood pays more than 10 films here. Presently they might be doing what people think are unexciting roles but things will change. It is a start and gives newcomers hope. When they are sidelined and mistreated on Indian shows, I don’t like it one bit. But how long will they treat them badly and stifle their talent?”
At the same time, Faisal Qureshi is not happy with Pakistani media’s obsession with Bollywood stars. He thinks that the media is more fascinated with Bollywood than with the local industry.
Fahad Mustafa
Fahad Mustafa was offered a Bollywood film back in 2015 by Mahesh Bhatt. He mentioned in one of his chat sessions that he did not even consider the offer because he has much better offers in Pakistan. Later on, when Fahad’s films came out, people knew what he was talking about. Fahad Mustafa has never said anything against Bollywood but he is very happy with all the work he is doing in Pakistan and does not feel the need to go there and work.
Sanam Jung
In the past, Sanam Jung also revealed in an interview that she was offered a Bollywood film but she told them that she could not do any bold scenes and because of that she could never be a part of Bollywood. Explaining further she said,
“When I said I would not do bold scenes, they replied they could ‘cheat’, but even if they cheat a scene, the audience will think I have done it. So Bollywood is out of the question.”
Sanam Jung does not want to compromise on certain restraints she has put on herself so Bollywood is not on the cards for her.
Fatima Effendi
Fatima Effendi refused to work in Bollywood because of the same reasons Sanam Jung refused to work there. In an interview she revealed,
“Anees Bazmee called me and praised my drama serial and asked me to work in his film. I asked him about the story and the character I’d portray but refused to sign the movie because it required me to play a bold character.”
Mehwish Hayat
Mehwish Hayat was also offered a role in the Bollywood film “Jut James Bond” but she refused the offer. Mehwish Hayat is also not one of those actors who are dead against working in Bollywood but she is waiting for the right offer. She is not against working in Bollywood but she would rather work in a film that is a quality production.
Sajal Aly
Sajal Aly acted in the Bollywood film “Mom” but in 2019 when she was offered another movie from across the border, she refused. The Indian government was under severe scrutiny at that time for their atrocities in Kashmir therefore Sajal refused to work there. She shared that it was a conscious effort on her part to show solidarity with the Kashmiris.
Sajal shared that she had so many offers from top production houses in Pakistan and got so much love from her own people that she did not need the feel to work in Bollywood. Sajal Ali also said,
“No Pakistani artist should work in India until the end of atrocities and human right violations in the valley.”
Do you know of any other actors who refused an offer from Bollywood? Feel free to add to the list.
There are so many Pakistani actors who have shown their versatility over the years. There have been times when they were stereotyped as well. As these actors gained more experience, they had the option of choosing the kind of roles they wanted to play. As a consequence of this, they also chose to play characters that did not fit into the ‘hero’ category. It won’t be wrong to say that playing layered, negative characters is just as important for an actor as is playing other kinds of roles. Sometimes such characters actually make these characters more popular than ever. While people hate the characters they play, they absolutely love the performances.
A negative character should also be written well in order for it to stand out.
