Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley: Last Episode Review

0

MDKJZM started off extremely well and had a lot going for it till about the 13th episode, after that gradually the play lost its focus and the well-etched out and extremely loveable characters seemed to be the only reason for me to continue watching this play. I have to admit that there were times when I completely wanted to give up on this play but I could not help being a very loyal viewer because somehow I felt like I owed it to Amina, Urooj, Arifa and Junaid in particular. I always liked Zakiya’s character too but since Bushra Ansari is also the writer of the play and the one responsible for all the unexpected but quite often not needed twist and turns too , I could not help but hold her responsible for disappointing her viewers. The direction and acting stayed top notch through out the serial and like I stated earlier the characters were very likeable.

There are many dramas that we stop following after a few episodes because they seem repetitive and boring but catch up with them in the last few episodes because these are the episodes that are truly rewarding and the end very satisfying; which sort of makes up for all the disappointments in the past. MDKJZM is one of those rare plays which I would have actually remembered with fond memories had I stopped watching it in the middle! Today’s episode was extremely disappointing to say the least and I was wondering if this really was the end!

The only good thing about the story today was that Arifa finally mustered up the courage to encounter Salaar and saved her sister’s life. But I cannot help but question the way this encounter happened. They could have met in an office or a shop or on the roadside…why did Salaar have to be the guy who Arifa’s sister was going to marry. Aminah and Urooj were separated for no reason, there were regrets, remorse and hurt on both sides. And most importantly the insensitivity shown towards Urooj’s disability was highly irrational. Urooj was referred to as “zinda lash” “Bebas” “nakara” and Zakiya even told Salaar that Aminah did not know how it felt like to live with a “Normal and healthy” person. Later when Zakiya asks Aminah to come stay with them she says, “Urooj ko tu adaat hai mehrumiyu ke saath jeenay ki”. Did the writer not realize that there maybe special people who might be watching this show or many of us maybe related to such people? A person who is deaf and mute is not normal? Well, unfortunately that is exactly what we were shown that a special person does not have the right to lead a normal life. I can’t believe that this is the same drama which made us fall in love with it because we thought it was portraying a special person in a new light. The viewers never sympathized with Urooj’s character we fell in love with it. Urooj was sensitive and adorable and I fail to understand why he lost his charm all of a sudden.

The end was extremely unsatisfactory and I failed to draw any good lessons from it, which is very sad given that MDKJZM started off as a play with a lot of good lessons. I must give credit to Adnan Ahmed for doing a great job with directing this play, all the actors did a brilliant job but the storyline failed to impress. MDKJZM was a drama with tons of potential, too bad all of it went to waste.

MERCEDES! A Status Symbol in our Dramas

0

OK I think we have talked enough on dramas and actors, this time I will be going to talk on a very odd topic and that is growing trend of showing Mercedes car in dramas. Yes it may be sound abnormal to you that I am talking on a totally diversified chapter but this is something I am observing that Mercedes car is now being used often for past 2 3 years. I know that this topic may sound lame as well but don’t worry I will told you some blunders and will do some fun with those dramas in which Mercedes car had been shown.

Now there is a trend among writers to show a highly rich family and a poor or middle class family in which usually a boy having a lavish lifestyle prefers to love a girl who is from a poor or middle class family. I don’t understand what our writers are thinking seriously does it connects to real world or if it I guess very seldom or if they are trying to change the society then most welcome from my side.

OK so coming back to our topic Mercedes-Benz is a German auto-mobile manufacturer. Mercedes-Benz is considered to be a benchmark of auto mobile Industry and it is one of the prestigious brand of the world. Usually businessmen prefers to buy Mercedes-Benz because of its elite class. Well it is true that people in Pakistan also consider Mercedes as high valuable car like in every country so I can say that showing a Mercedes in dramas represents a true face of society but how they are valuing it in dramas let me show you with some of my crispy and freakish analysis I hope you will enjoy. I will discuss some recent dramas and attitudes of rich people having Mercedes car in dramas.

So the trend of showing Mercedes more often actually begins with drama “Humsafar”. Asher an obedient son and a good business man running his father business successfully drives the Mercedes E- Class 2005 model yet he marries his cousin from a poor family back ground. Don’t darn at me because I will not say anything wrong as his marriage is a forceful marriage so no blunder in the story. Realistic test passed well done Farhat Ishtiaq!

Ok moving on Fawad’s next drama “Zindagi Gulzar hai”, fawad as Zaroon yet again a sweet papa’s boy having same type of egoistic mother like in humsafar drives to university in Mercedes S class 350 2008 model seriously! This is the most expensive model and he is driving this car only to come to university I wonder what his father is driving or they are super rich having two Mercedes. Well I guess Mercedes is for business class he should have some sporty car in order to look cool. Zaroon is so humble to that he wants to marry a middle class girl Kashaf and he don’t like the modern lifestyle does this exist in rich families? I grew up in a typical society where rich people’s children doesn’t even bother to look at poor people well it might happen so reality test half passed!

Kankar drama another set of pity issue by Umera Ahmed a rich guy running a multi-million business prefers to marry Kiran a girl from a middle class family and look at the attitude of a girl she doesn’t wants to marry him! However her father accepts the proposal, so after getting married Kiran sits on the front seat of Mercedes E class 2011 model. Now a major blunder in the story she travels in luxurious Mercedes but reveals her wish for another car as she likes it and next day her husband bought it for her. Well now this is something unrealistic but on the other hand she is a girl she can have a different choice.

Talking about current drama Aasmano Pe Likha and a trend to show rich guy with a mercedes and poor girl continues. So Sheheryar as Aaliyan another dadu’s sweet boy enters a marriage hall and wants to help a girl Qudsia by giving his Mercedes car to her in laws because girl’s in laws wants a car in Jahez but her father couldn’t provide it due to financial difficulties. So if Aaliyan is offering his Mercedes why they haven’t accepted it because Aaliyan and Qudsia’s relation had already been made on sky. Wow every poor girl wants to have fortune with a dashing rich husband driving Mercedes-Benz who will be humble and kind as well. Realistic test failed as it is unrealistic.

Umera Ahmed’s another drama serial Muhabbat Subah Ka Sitara well don’t remind me yes the story of a rich guy and poor girl is still running. So another humble and a kind businessman with a large business fell in love with her innocent secretary who is from a poor family background. Umera Ahmed’s story although gives us lots of lessons but don’t why she loves to show a connection between rich and poor. Any ways Nabeel driving a Mercedes S class wants to give his whole property to his wife yes the same innocent secretary. Well if a person owns a Mercedes, A large business and property so I guess he will not be stupid enough firstly to get married with such a poor girl surely he will look for a girl in his own class secondly if it happens so no one is stupid one to give all his wealth including property to his wife. Reality test failed big time.

My last choice “Bunty I love you” the trend changed as the writer is now a male so this time a rich woman who had inherited wealth from her old-aged husband who died at the age of 72 and a poor guy. Saba Qamar as Dania driving Mercedes S Class 2008 model accidently met Bunty who is a cell phone snatcher and that accident proves to be a treasure for bunty. Bunty is such a lucky person two rich girls love him one Mehwish whose father owns a car showroom in dubai and second is dania. I know all boys will want that to happen! Well at least dania having Mercedes and a large villa should have maintained her status. How unrealistic well don’t worry as Khalil-ur-Rehman stories are always unrealistic yet interesting.

Above is all folks although containing some reality, so don’t took it seriously. If you have found my analysis lame just criticize but I want to come up with something different.

Meray Pass Tum Ho, is a journey of a broken heart: Ayeza Khan

The Ayeza Khan, Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui starrer has been receiving a lot of praise for the trio’s acting. However, the storyline of the drama is under major criticism as it shows how a materialistic woman is intent upon destroying her own house in her lust for more money.

Meray Pass Tum Ho, is a journey of a broken heart: Ayeza Khan

We’ve seen how vain Mehwish( Ayeza Khan) is and how she stops at absolutely nothing to get what she wants when it comes to money. First, she encouraged her husband to take bribe, took undue loans herself and now she’s accompanying her boss to out of town trips and wearing night suites, whether to entice him or be agreeable to whatever he says.

Mehwish encourages Shahwar and doesn’t back down, even when he hints he’s flying out for a date with her. We do not know what transpired between the two in this episode but we know for sure that no loyal woman does what Mehwish is doing to her husband.

Meray Pass Tum Ho, is a journey of a broken heart: Ayeza Khan

Ayeza Khan’s character as Mehwish has been receiving a lot of backlash, especially after the last episode. The scenes with Shahwar have been earning her criticsim for being a selfish wife and ignoring her family in the process. Currently we do not know how the story will progress, but as the promo shows Shahwar asking Mehwish to choose, we can hazard a guess that she might not choose Danish at all.

Taking all this backlash and the criticism in her stride, Ayeza Khan, recently took to her Twitter to share how she felt about playing Mehwish.

Stating how she wouldn’t want to live as a woman Mehwish is, ever again, Ayeza wrote,” I have lived one life which I never want to live again as a woman, meray pass tum ho, its not just a story a husband and a wife, the lust for money, its a journey of a broken heart.”

Meray Pass Tum Ho, is a journey of a broken heart: Ayeza Khan

Certainly Ayeza Khan, who herself is a devout mother and a wife, must have felt turbulent emotions after she played the character of Mehwish. Mehwish is vain but certainly beautiful and she knows how to use her beauty to get what she wants. The sad part is, the story as usual is inspired by our society and women like Mehwish certainly exist, which to their plight, destroy hundreds of homes.

Meray Pass Tum Ho, is a journey of a broken heart: Ayeza Khan

Directed by veteran director Nadeem Baig, Meray Pass Tum Ho, has been written down by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. The drama, well now into its 9th week, stars Adnan Siddiqui, Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan in lead roles. Currently, Meray Pass Tum Ho has been earning rave reviews over the past few weeks.

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

Meray Pass Tum Ho has been going with top ratings every Saturday on ARY Digital. Despite its controversial plot, the audience is enjoying what the play has to offer and some top notch performances by Ayeza Khan, Adnan Siddiqui and Humayun Saeed.

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

However, the play, which seems to revolve around the lives of these three characters only is yet to see major twists and turns added. And with twists and turns we mean, new characters coming in and playing pivotal roles in the drama.

Up until now, we’ve seen three major characters but recently Mohammad Ahmed also made an entry as Mateen Sahab, Danish’s colleague, who Danish grows to trust and befriend over time.

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

But that’s not it. In the coming episodes, we have the very gorgeous Hira Mani who’ll be making her entry into the drama as Hania.

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

Hania’s character will be paired opposite Humayun Saeed’s Danish, who will definitely be left alone when Mehwish walks out of his life for Shahwar. Hania will come in as Roomi’s teacher and Mateen Sahab’s daughter, the same Mateen Sahab, who Danish will consider his friend and support.

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

Hira shared in an interview with a daily that her character would be paired alongside Humayun Saeed and we’re eagerly waiting to see what twist this lady will bring to the drama with her different character? Will Hania be able to make a place for herself in Danish’s life and value Danish for the gem of a human being he is?

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

Alongside Hira Mani, we’ll also see Furqan Qureshi in an important role in the drama. The Woh Mera Dil Tha actor will be playing a close and mutual friend to Humayun Saeed’s character Danish, named Salman in the play.

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

Next we have the stunning model turned actress for Meray Pass Tum Ho, Rehmat Ajmal as Ayesha in the play. Like Furqan Qureshi, Rehmat Ajmal will also be playing a pivotal role in the drama, as Danish’s and Mehwish’s mutual friend, Ayesha, forever there to support them.

Meray Pass Tum Ho To Introduce New Characters Soon

Lets see what new twists these new characters add to the already interesting drama, Meray Pass Tum Ho. Here’s looking forward to the new week filled with a lot of new happenings.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 9 – Best One So Far

This was undoubtedly the best episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho since it was brilliantly directed and acted-out. The main twist in this episode was completely unexpected and the situations shown before and after the main incident kept me hooked throughout. With this episode I really felt like we might get to watch an old story with a new perspective after all. Danish’s reaction to every single development tonight was the highlight of this episode, his character is turning out to be a complex and interesting one. Nadeem Baig’s direction has been superb but tonight it was simply outstanding. The camera work, duration of the scenes, the locations and background score, every aspect was right on point. It is good to see a man on screen for a change who is afraid to lose his wife and who is willing to fight for her without actually fighting with her. This episode kept me hooked throughout since it was absolutely brilliant and there were no commercial breaks tonight. Meray Pass Tum Ho’s producers definitely are trying their best to keep up with the competition by introducing the main twist at a time when Alif just aired and once again by showing an episode without any commercial breaks.

Roomi’s First Day of School

While Roomi and his father got ready for school, Mehwish had her own plans. Once again, the writer in a really realistic way showed how Mehwish was drifting away from this life and getting cozy in a world which right now was like a temporary escape. Mehwish’s transition yet again was shown through little gestures like her lack of excitement regarding Roomi’s admission, her lack of interest when Roomi was leaving for school since she had more exciting things to look forward to and most of all the confidence with which she lied to her husband without feeling guilty. Mehwish has convinced herself that she is entitled to all this and it is almost as if she has accepted that her job indeed is to please Shahwar.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 9 - Best One So Far

Mehwish’s scenes with Roomi were such a nice addition to this episode. She does not tell him off and whenever she interacts with him it’s in a very loving and sweet manner yet she is not as interested in his life as she was before. Mehwish thinks she can give her son a better life if she earns more money but clearly Roomi was the one who suffered the most in this episode. While he was not shown as a victim but clearly a child deserves better than coming back home to a father who is in depression and being left alone at night all by himself because his parents are too busy in their own affairs. Danish is not the one at fault here but his attitude shows that sometimes not taking a stand too can hurt your children in more ways than one. It is rather strange that we never see Roomi complaining, he is a sweet kid who obviously got a lot of love all these years and he is also used to having his mother around all the time yet not once did he ask his mother to accompany him to the school. Perhaps, the writer is trying to show that he is more close to his father since he complained to him when he left him unaccompanied at home.

I absolutely love the child star playing this role, his crackling on-screen chemistry with Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan both makes their scenes realistic. The scenes which were shot outdoor were once again my favorite. Shooting such scenes during day time is nothing short of a challenge yet Nadeem Baig has managed to shoot them convincingly and brilliantly. I especially liked the scene showing Danish and Roomi on the motor bike when they were going to school. It’s actually disturbing how comfortable Mehwish and Danish are with Roomi coming home in the van (I presume) and being home alone with the helper all day.

Danish’s Mental Turmoil

Danish’s mental turmoil was shown convincingly in this episode. Although he has been going along with everything Mehwish has shown interest in doing but the fact is that he is not okay with it. Tonight he clearly told Mehwish that he was scared of her and he knew that she was going to do whatever she wanted to with or without his consent therefore he was just pretending that he didn’t have a problem with her job or choices. All the scenes covering Danish’s confusion and his restlessness were acted-out and written brilliantly. Finally after finding out what Mehwish had been up to behind his back, for the first time he put his foot down and told her not to go to the office. When he blamed his over-possessiveness in the beginning it was quite obvious that he was saying all this out of fear because he was now more afraid than ever to lose Mehwish. It was interesting how this situation was shown. Danish’s bitterness and his anger showed in his attitude but he was clearly ‘scared’ of saying more. Danish’s conversations with Mateen sahab were a nice addition to this episode. Finally there is someone he can talk to and Mateen sahab seems like a genuinely nice person who has learned from his mistakes. Humayum Saeed’s performance in this episode was truly impressive. Syed Muhammad Ahmed is an ace actor, looking forward to seeing more of him.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 9 - Best One So Far

Mehwish’s Stubbornness

The way Mehwish went ahead with her plan and the manner in which she was sleeping peacefully in the hotel room went to show that she was more than willing to play the role Shahwar wanted her to play. She has convinced herself that she is not doing anything wrong and when Danish was there at the airport, she was so confident about it all. She was more than willing to accept the consequences perhaps because she knew that she had someone to fall back on. Even then after reaching home, she acted as if nothing happened. Once again she apologized, gave an explanation and expected Danish to move on. Mehwish knows that she is wrong but at the same time she does not want to be held accountable for her actions. Her situation too is quite interesting since her love for status and money is the driving force in her life right now, everything else is secondary. Ayeza Khan looked absolutely stunning in some of the scenes tonight and she has nailed this character. I wish she would stop being so apologetic in interviews for playing this character since she has done complete justice to it.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 9 - Best One So Far

Final Remarks

Some of the dialogues tonight were beautifully written and this episode was also well-paced, there wasn’t a single scene which was out of place. All the actors performed exceptionally well. Nadeem Baig deserves an award for his direction since he has breathed life into every single scene by capturing it so well on screen. Adnan Siddiqui has acted just as brilliantly as Ayeza and Humayun. Apart from the direction, the flawless acting makes this drama engaging even though it has been relatively slow-paced. The upcoming episode it seems is going to be just as interesting as this one, looking forward to it.

This was definitely a must watch episode which actually had the twist everyone was waiting to see but the reactions we got were different from what we were expecting to see and personally I liked the writer’s take.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 8 Story Review – Lies and Deceit

Tonight’s episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho had a few things going for it, the characterization for instant has been on point and some of the dialogues tonight were beautifully written. However, the slow pace of this drama coupled with the confusing timeline has to be the most off putting factor. There are also times when you feel that the heavy dialogues disrupt the flow of the story. As far as the storyline is concerned, it does seem like the writer will in the end have a strong message for all those women out there who are over impressed with wealth and status but will there be a message for men as well this time around?

I couldn’t help but think about Sila from Khasara while watching this episode. Although Ayeza Khan’s performance and the treatment she has given to Mehwish’s character is far better than the one we saw in Khasara but the character dynamics are the same. I am truly hoping that this time around, the cheating wife will not be the only one who gets punished in the end since Shahwar too is cheating on his wife and is an equal partner in all this. Unlike many other dramas, in this drama we see how a man is suffering at the hands of a woman who does not value him. The way Mehwish’s withdrawn attitude in this episode was covered was the highlight of this episode. Ayeza Khan’s phenomenal performance made Mehwish’s character easy to understand and relate to. Mehwish finally mentioned her mother and from the quote it was easy to understand where she gets her twisted mindset from! Danish’s character is easier to connect to now but there are times when his becharapan is exaggerated.

Latest Developments

This episode covered how Danish no longer felt comfortable with Mehwish going to the office. Just like always, he talked to Mehwish about his feelings but this time around Mehwish gave a reply which reflected something entirely different which was going through her mind. Mehwish is now fully convinced that her husband is ‘jealous’ of her and Shahwar has in a really brief period of time managed to convince her that she deserves better. It is almost as if Mehwish was waiting for someone like Shahwar to come in her life. Few weeks back, Mehwish even defended her husband even if it was in a subtle way but now clearly Danish is just a ‘distraction’ and Shahwar is the main focus. Mehwish was always shown as a daring individual who did whatever she wanted but at the same time there were times when she seemed truly concerned about her husband.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 8 Story Review - Lies and Deceit

The routine in the house changed quickly with Danish making the breakfast and Mehwish being more involved in her ‘work’. The work being – getting ready and spending time with the boss! Danish’s dialogues in which he referred to Shahwar as his friend didn’t make much sense, if he was being sarcastic, it surely didn’t sound like it. Danish and Mehwish’s confrontation scenes were the best since they showed how helpless someone is when their partner decides to take the path Mehwish has chosen. Danish spelled out everything for Mehwish but she had an explanation for it all. Is Mehwish really that foolish? Mehwish is not foolish at all but she is so greedy that doing these ‘favors’ for her boss in return for such a big amount of money does not bother her at all. She also comes across as a wannabe, she wants to be modern and want to think like the elite class – so for her that means not following the ethical and moral boundaries set by the society she moves in.

The conversation Danish had with the school principal didn’t work for me at all. I understood why she was saying all this and how this was going to affect Danish but rarely do principals pass such personal remarks on the first meeting. Also, there are plenty of parents with kids out there who work therefore this conversation it seemed targeted all such people and was in bad taste. It would have been better if all these remarks came from someone else. Danish’s neighbor has suddenly disappeared as well. Surely someone like him would have plenty to say about the latest developments in Mehwish’s life. Muhammad Ahmed’s character is a good addition to this play – finally someone Danish can talk to.

Confusing Timeline or Dialogues?

Although overall the pace of this drama is slow but there are times when you feel like some of the developments are too rushed or that something is missing. The confusing timeline has been yet another problem. Previously, Danish’s khuda ki kasm scene did not coincide with him taking bribery and tonight, Danish told his colleague that he hadn’t brought food because he did not like the maid’s cooking although the maid had come to work only that morning. Danish and Mehwish’s first conversation regarding her work also made it look like she had been working for the longest time even though this was only her second day.

Final Remarks

Danish knows now that he is gradually losing the woman he married and Mehwish on the other hand is too excited to take the ‘challenges’ of her new life. Shahwar continues to pursue and impress Mehwish, it is quite clear that he won’t stop until he has her in his life for good. Danish’s helplessness tonight made complete sense, he cannot force Mehwish to leave this job or refuse all the favors.

Overall, this episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho focused on showing how Mehwish made up her mind and there was no looking back now. The writer also did a great job of letting his viewers know why Danish was so helpless. Some of the scenes between Mehwish and Danish are getting repetitive but just like every other episode this one too had a few interesting dialogues. Ayeza Khan’s performance tonight was exceptional. This was one of those episodes in which Danish’s becharapan was a bit annoying but at the same time I felt for the poor man – after all he just wants a simple life!

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 7 Story Review – Giving In to The Temptation

Meray Pass Tum Ho is yet another story about unfaithful spouses but the good thing is that so far this drama does not have a commercial feel to it. Although, the production values have been grand but the locations and the situations have been kept as realistic as possible. Nadeem Baig’s exceptional skills as a director show in every single scene since he has made sure that this drama doesn’t get too boring. Meray Pass Tum Ho has definitely grown on me but at the same time because of the clichéd and predictable storyline it doesn’t keep me at the edge of my seat. The slow pace of this drama suggests that the writer is in no rush to tell the story and he wants to explore human emotions more than anything else.

Also, unlike before the characters make much more sense now but the fact that these characters do not have a background – no proper history, definitely gives the impression that the story has started from the middle. I have given up hope of finding out where Mehwish is from, whether she has an actual family or not and what was her life like before she got married. I feel it was really important to show or tell the viewers what Mehwish’s background was since that would have given her character more depth and meaning. Why is she the way she is? Right now, the viewers can only label her as greedy and selfish but there is no reason for her being this way, which makes her character just plain shallow.

Shahwar and Danish’s Meeting

I absolutely loved how the writer showed the gullible side of Danish’s personality. Even after making up his mind, he completely changed his opinion when Shahwar told him all those lies. Danish decided to follow his gut feeling but Shahwar was already prepared to receive him in a way which took him completely by surprise. Mehwish of course, played a major role in making sure that Shahwar was ready to deal with the situation. Danish on the other hand was caught unaware and that is why he fell for Shahwar’s trap, at least for some time. It made perfect sense that someone like Danish fell for such lies since he is highly gullible. Although Danish is completely capable of critical thinking but he is also someone who gets convinced easily. He has trusted Shahwar twice until now only because he treated him well and assured him that he could be trusted.

Shahwar’s confidence clearly suggested that he was a master manipulator. Shahwar’s grand house and the overall atmosphere went so well with his personality. There is a mysterious air about him, the house he lives him and even the aged person who supervises everything in the house has a certain strangeness about him, like they are all hiding an ugly secret. The treatment given to this character has been superb which keeps it from being too run-of-the-mill.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 7 Story Review - Giving In to The Temptation

Giving In to The Temptation

Mehwish has definitely made up her mind and the way she operated today showed that she was quite capable of lying and cheating without thinking twice about it. After telling Danish to return the gifts, she called Shahwar and later on, she pretended as if she was not bothered at all about this meeting and its outcome.

Mehwish was really sneaky tonight because she kept on lying to Danish without feeling guilty about it even once. Mehwish it seems is also lying to herself, she is enjoying the excitement she feels when Shahwar praises her and she is pretty sure that she deserves everything Shahwar has given her. The way she accepted that cheque and was more than willing to do whatever her boss asked her to do, showed a completely different side of Mehwish’s personality. The fact that she was doing all this with Danish’s ‘permission’ now gave her even more confidence. Ayeza Khan’s performance was brilliant throughout tonight. Everything that was shown tonight, made me wonder if Mehwish only married Danish because she was hoping that one day he could give her the life she wanted but because that never happened, she no longer ‘loves’ him. Once again, I felt the need to know why Mehwish married Danish and what the circumstances were.

The Performances & The Execution

Adnan Siddiqui has translated his character exceptionally well on screen and Humayun Saeed was extremely convincing in all the scenes tonight. Ayeza Khan’s performance has been effortless throughout too but Mehr Bano’s acting reminds me of the role she played in Balaa although this character is completely different. Tonight’s episode had quite a few interesting situations and then there were other scenes which showed a shocking side of Mehwish’s personality. Danish’s character is gradually shaping up and he has my undivided attention. The dialogues when the accident happened made me laugh since Humayun Saeed’s age is constantly being discussed on every forum on regular basis. All the scenes tonight were shot perfectly and the scenes shot outdoors were especially impressive. Mehwish has made up her mind and things will only get more complicated now. There is nothing appealing about the overall story but the director in particular has done his part really well.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 6 Story Review – The Temptation

The story is gradually shaping up and even though the pace of this drama is still slow, the characters are easier to connect to now than they were before. Danish in particular is showing some signs of wisdom and some of his reactions tonight were actually quite interesting. The story is predictable and the characters are not new but Nadeem Baig’s direction has definitely been the highlight of every episode. The dialogues and the situations in this episode were interesting to watch. The complete focus on Mehwish and Danish though can make the situations repetitive at times. I must say however that I am definitely more interested now in finding out how these characters deal with the ‘changes’ in their lives in the upcoming episodes.

The Reactions

This episode opened with Mehwish holding on to the necklace box while Danish expressed his discomfort with this entire situation without any reservations. The dialogues were quiet bold but they fit into the situations that were being shown because clearly Danish was utterly disturbed by Mehwish’s attitude more than  anything else. He found it hard to believe that his wife was ‘okay’ with the way Shahwar was around her. It is good to see that Danish is wise enough to know what was going on and what Shahwar’s intentions were. Danish and Mehwish’s state of mind and the circumstances were translated faultlessly on screen. The only aspect of this entire track which is difficult to connect to is that it took Mehwish this long to get attracted to someone especially given the fact that she has a rich friend who takes her to all these high-end places. We have to therefore suppose that no one ever fell for Mehwish in this way before therefore this is the first time that someone rich and ‘charismatic’ has shown interest in Mehwish.

Meray Pass Tum Ho2 2

Danish did not sugarcoat anything tonight and he knew what was going on in Mehwish’s mind. He also questioned himself for not giving her enough and perhaps felt that in a way she was justified for wanting more. Even though he asked Mehwish to change her thinking but he obviously knows her well enough to know just how much material things mean to her. Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan both acted brilliantly tonight. Danish tried to be ‘open-minded’ hoping Mehwish will surprise him by her reaction but seeing Mehwish getting more involved made him change his perspective. The daily life of this couple has been shown quite realistically as well, the scenes at the dinner table and the night time discussions show their communication and interactions pragmatically.

Meray Pass Tum Ho1 1

The Temptation

Mehwish was already in awe of Shahwar’s personality and wealth, now that he has also made an offer which Mehwish could not even dream of, she is more tempted than ever. Shahwar is a clever man who knows how to make a woman like Mehwish change her mind. When Danish compliments Mehwish, she usually ignores him but when Shahwar says all those nice things to her, she enjoys listening to him. This basically shows that his words have more meaning because he is the kind of man Mehwish idealizes. Mehwish is technically already cheating on Danish but she thinks there is nothing wrong with that because that’s just who Shahwar is and he doesn’t have any bad intentions. That is how Mehwish has been justifying her conversations with Shahwar but Danish spelled it out for her tonight. Even then she tried to justify the job and Shahwar’s behaviour. These developments definitely gave me Khasara vibes.

Meray Pass Tum Ho 2

Mehwish and Danish’s conflict was shown superbly in this episode. Both of them are facing a brand new situation and while Danish can see where all this will lead, Mehwish is choosing not to see things for what they are. Mehwish and Danish both thought about the things which Shahwar said but their reactions were very different.

Final Remarks

The opening episodes of this drama were the worst since the introduction to the characters didn’t make a lot of sense but it is getting better for sure. The way different situations are being covered will probably give some people out there something to reflect upon. Few of Danish’s reactions tonight were pleasantly surprising because unlike before they were so realistic. I also feel that unlike other such dramas covering similar storyline, this one doesn’t have a very commercial approach. The overall theme and the storyline however is definitely inspired from Mere Khawab Reza Reza and Khasara. I absolutely loved the background score tonight and Nadeem Baig deserves all the credit for a job well done.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 5 Story Review – The Dinner & The Decision

Tonight’s episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho had some pleasant surprises and the overall execution of this episode was right on point. The pace of this show continues to be slow since there are no sidetracks and it has a handful of characters therefore I do feel at times that I need a break from watching the same faces in the entire duration of the drama. The story is as simple as it gets, so simple that we still don’t know much about the families of these characters. The scenes covering Danish’s time in the office break the monotony and tonight’s episode had quite a few interesting conversations.

Danish’s Decision

The highlight of this episode was Danish’s decision to give the bribe money back, this would have made so much more sense if he had not taken and spent the money initially. It was nevertheless good to see him making this decision since someone like him would never take such a risk. The opening scenes covering Danish’s state of mind were written and executed well. These scenes clearly showed that for Danish this was a huge amount which meant even more discomfort for him.

Meray Pass Tum Ho 1

Later on, realizing what he had to do in return and finally reaching the conclusion that he was better off not taking this bribe was the best decision he has made so far. It was really good to see Danish concluding something positive based on his own wisdom as opposed to listening to what Mehwish had been telling him. His boss’ reaction however made it quite obvious that he was going to pay a big price for his honesty – a scenario which was easy to connect to. We have all heard true stories about people being punished for their honesty in such work environments and this isn’t something we see being highlighted in dramas often. I am glad that the writer is going to show how easy it is for a person to please the bigwigs and earn good money and how difficult it is for him to take a decision which does not suit such people. It was also good to see that Danish did not drag Aba in this conversation. Humayun Saeed’s performance has been faultless throughout. Although, I don’t find Danish’s character appealing and his dialogues can at times be annoying but Humayun Saeed has translated this character flawlessly on screen. You understand why someone like Danish would constantly be taken for granted and why people think that he does not deserve a wife like Mehwish.

The Dinner

The grandeur of Shahwar’s house and his lifestyle was shown in a detailed manner in this episode. The background score and the overall atmosphere was that of impending doom, like this meeting was going to change the way things were right now for these two individuals living a simple life. While Danish was in awe of Shahwar’s confidence, there were also quite a few scenes which showed how socially awkward Danish was. There are times when Danish does not come across as simple but he is someone who cannot socialize with people like any other man his age would.

Mehwish on the other hand is clever, even though she had her reservations about how Shahwar had planned Danish’s exit from the dinner table, she played along with it. She even made sure that Rumi went with Danish so she could finally find out more about Shahwar’s wife and his relationship with her. Mehwish is being inquisitive, she is confused but at the same time she is ‘enjoying’ this entire situation and her expressions when she saw the necklace summed up why she finds Shahwar so appealing. Mehwish thinks it is alright for her to talk to Shahwar since it’s not hurting anyone.

Meray Pass Tum Ho2 1

Shahwar comes from a completely different world and perhaps he is Mehwish’s definition of an ‘ideal man’ but she is married to Danish – someone who loves her – therefore right now she is only toying with the idea of getting to know this man better. Mehwish tried to set certain ‘boundaries’ but she can also see that Shahwar knows how to get ‘what’ he wants, she also knows that she is the one he wants! That is something Danish knows too since Shahwar has never made an effort to hide his feelings. Ayeza Khan’s performance has been solid throughout, she is a good actor but her overall look in this play at times doesn’t go well with her character.

Final Remarks

I enjoyed watching tonight’s episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho since everything was covered quite convincingly. I was however hoping once again to hear something regarding Mehwish’s family when Shahwar asked about their wedding but the conversation revolved around Mehwish and Danish alone. In my opinion, the biggest drawback of this drama so far is that the characters do not have a proper backstory or relatives. It is also difficult to believe that someone like Mehwish could stay with Danish for so long. Also, Mehwish mentioned that she had saved 28000 for the necklace and they also have an extra necklace yet these two have not yet talked about how they can use this money to get Rumi into school. Mehwish finally wore the necklace tonight – hurrah!

The conversations and scenarios are limited to their relationships with each other and their personalities. Tonight’s episode however gave me hope that this drama might have something more to offer in the future. Although, the story is pretty basic but tonight’s episode suggested that the writer might offer something new in the upcoming episodes.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 4 Story Review – Confusing

Meray Pass Tum Ho is turning out to be a slow-paced drama which is already getting repetitive. The characters have no background, no relatives and their present-day story too is moving forward at a snail’s pace. While it was good to see a few unexpected scenarios in this episode but overall this was another ‘confusing’ episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho which yet again made me wonder if I had missed out on something. Some of the conversations tonight didn’t work for me at all since the heavy duty dialogues did not fit into these simple situations. There is always a way to tell a done-to-death story in a different manner but so far there is nothing ‘refreshing’ about this drama.

Danish’s New ‘Friend’

Tonight’s episode opened with a detailed recap of the last scene of the previous episode followed by another question answer session between Danish and Mehwish. Some of Danish’s dialogues about Mehwish’s character made me cringe and they didn’t go well with his character at all. After the nap, Danish woke up with a different frame of mind and allowed Mehwish to go to the wedding. This was one of those unexpected scenarios which made this episode bearable. Later on, Danish’s decision to be more ‘open-minded’ and him being ‘friends’ with Shahwar was yet another surprise especially considering the fact that Danish does not believe in making friends. Shahwar too was much more contained and in the mood to impress since this time around he was sober. Mehwish’s fixation with Shahwar and the grand wedding once again reflected her interest in material things. While Danish did not think twice about what he was going to wear, Mehwish wanted to look good – probably because she liked all the attention she got.

The Confusions

Danish’s ‘Khuda ki kasam’ was just as difficult to connect to as Mehwish convincing him yet again that Aba was dead and he could go on with his life whichever way he deemed fit. Didn’t he take bribe already? Also, he was more than willing and eager to follow this path until last week. While his confusion is understandable but this entire scenario didn’t make sense. First Danish told Shahwar that he had never taken bribe and then he was shocked that someone was offering him bribe!

Meray Pass Tum Ho2
Although Mehwish’s character isn’t likable but it makes much more sense than Danish’s character. The fact that Danish is too simple has been well established in these 4 episodes but I am still waiting to know more about Mehwish’s background, I was hoping that she will say something about her family when she talked about Anoushey’s brother’s wedding but I guess her family will always stay a mystery. Once again, Danish forgot the key and Mehwish forgot to tell him that she was going out – a scenario which is being shown repeatedly! Humayun Saeed’s body language in the scene covering Danish’s confusion and fear when he came home with all the money was right on point but Danish’s masoomiyat is more annoying than likable. This masoomiyat is basically there to show that he is not doing any of this out of his own free will but Mehwish is making him take bribe and change everything he has been taught. There is nothing likable about watching a grown man act like a child just like there is nothing fascinating about watching women play the victim in every other drama.

Final Remarks

Danish’s character made me cringe and laugh at the same time. There is nothing new about Mehwish and Shahwar’s track but the way this part of the story is being taken forward is slightly more interesting than Danish and Mehwish’s track. In other plays which followed the same storyline, the men were simple but their masoomiyat was never highlighted in the way it has been in this play. Nadeem Baig has done everything in his power to make every scene look as realistic on screen as possible and the camera work has been superb too but other than that Meray Pass Tum Ho doesn’t have much to offer so far.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 3 Story Review – The Insecurities

Beauty and The Bonga

With Meray Pass Tum Ho ARY has started a new trend of not interrupting the drama with any commercial breaks which is definitely a good thing. The duration of each episode however remains the same and therefore these episodes end relatively earlier than the usual time. In this episode the writer yet again focused entirely on the main characters and I must say that Danish’s innocence (bholapan or bongapan?) was established even more in this episode. After watching this episode, I am convinced that Humayun Saeed has given this character the right treatment but I am having a really difficult time feeling for Danish. On the contrary, I find his bholapan/bongapan quite funny. The fact that everyone keeps on telling Mehwish that she could have done better makes Danish’s personality traits more relatable but it is difficult to believe that these two have been married for 7 years. How did someone like Mehwish stay with a man like him especially considering the fact that she had a really difficult time holding herself back when she was with Shahwar on the dance floor? Humayun Saeed’s dance moves were right on point – weird and incoherent – but his reaction, fears and insecurities were so exaggerated that I had to go back and watch those scenes again since I got the feeling that perhaps he had a ‘drink’ or two unknowingly!

The Insecurities

Danish decided he needed to go show his dance moves when Mehwish told him about the excuse she made for not dancing. What followed was extremely funny, while Danish was okay with dancing with his ‘behan’ – who he was judging for dancing with a na mehram – he completely lost it when he saw Mehwish dancing with Shahwar. We all know that ultimately Mehwish will somehow end up with Shahwar therefore this could be Danish’s intuition telling him to keep his wife away from this man. While it was completely understandable why a conservative man like Danish would not allow his wife to do something like that, the way he completely lost track of everything the next morning didn’t make any sense. That is when I started wondering if he was drunk the previous night but apparently not – thankfully! The early morning conversation on the breakfast table did not work for me at all, it was too filmy and not easy to connect to.

Meray Pass Tum Ho 2 1

The fact that Danish was not comfortable going to the wedding the next day and told Mehwish not to wear that blouse made perfect sense. Every scene tonight, just like the previous episode, showed how incompatible Danish and Mehwish were. Danish loves Mehwish madly and can do anything to make sure that she stays happy and also that she stays with him but Mehwish is clearly not happy. Mehwish also didn’t think she did anything wrong which once again showed her ‘open-mindedness’. Also, when men flirt with Mehwish, she tells them off in a certain manner but at the same time she recollects what these men say to her. The scene in which Mehwish decided to take a ride in Monty’s car was yet another one which made me wonder why there was such a communication gap between Mehwish and Danish. Danish clearly dislikes this man but somehow Mehwish thought they are really good friends! These two have been married for 7 years yet they know so little about each other. Danish wants to be rich quickly, he wants a car and anything else which makes Mehwish happy – he has gone from being responsible and honest to completely reckless and fearless. Ayeza Khan so far has translated her character on screen in such a manner that she keeps you wondering – you do wonder how she will ultimately fall for Shahwar.

The Necklace

Mehwish finally found the necklace and even though Danish is making easy money, the way both of them were okay with such an expensive necklace just lying around didn’t make a lot of sense. It all started with the necklace and now even though Danish’s boss warned him of the dangers, he has decided that he needs to get everything Mehwish wishes for and he wants to do it fast. The preview of the next episode showed Mehwish complaining about her son not being in school – sell the necklace please ;)

Meray Pass Tum Ho 5

Final Remarks

Danish’s innocence, his simplicity and his love for Mehwish hasn’t had the kind of impact yet which I was hoping it would have. He comes across as a foolish man who has made a lot of  irrational and impulsive decisions lately. This makes you wonder how he managed to stay this honest for all these years. Ayeza Khan has underplayed her character which is why Mehwish’s negative traits do not overshadow her overall personality. In my opinion, watching Mehwish’s journey will be interesting. The director Nadeem Baig has left no stone unturned to add variation and detail but the ads on the screen were extremely bothersome and distracting.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 2 Story Review – Trade-off

Tonight’s episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho introduced another major character in the story and it also revealed a little bit more about the other characters. So far, the focus has been entirely on the leading characters and what seems somewhat odd is that so far we don’t know much about the background of these characters. Apart from everything which Danish has shared about his father, the writer has not revealed much about the families of these characters which makes it difficult to relate to their situations at times.

We found out in this episode that Danish and Mehwish were madly in love even before they got married and Mehwish was expecting more from Danish. Mostly, when leading characters are introduced, their families are also shown but this second episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho was a lot like the first one which left a lot of room for speculations. The only surprising aspect of this episode was everything which was revealed about Anoushey’s character, other than that everything else went as expected.

The Trade-off

Danish decided to make a really difficult trade-off in the previous episode when he chose to go against everything his father had taught him to please his wife. The trade-off he made turned out to be quite lucrative since the department he was in (like most of the government departments) entertained officers who chose to ‘cooperate’ with the bigwigs more than an honest person. Danish’s attitude clearly showed that he ‘loved’ his wife enough to do something which was clearly against everything he had ever believed in, ‘abba ko laat marna’ dialogue pretty much summed up what this trade-off meant to him. Danish however was quite happy with this decision since this was the only way to please his wife. Danish’s becharapan and his bholapan was further elaborated by showing how Mehwish was not home when he came with the gift. From this episode and the promo of the next one, it was quite evident that Danish will be the ‘victim’ in this story and Mehwish is going to be the one who will be responsible for everything he does wrong.

Meray Pass Tum Ho 3

Mehwish’s character comes across as more immature than anything else since she isn’t entirely careless but then she went away for the entire day and did not even message her husband. She is greedy and materialistic enough to ‘compromise’ on values and principles. She is more ‘flexible’ and ‘open-minded’ than her husband. At the mehndi, she was okay with drinking and she gave Shahwar an inquisitive glance when Anoushey was telling her all about him. Shahwar was attracted to Mehwish right away and the way Danish sensed that was the most interesting and relatable aspect of this episode.

The Modern Friend

Anoushey, it seems is going to be a ‘bad influence’ on Mehwish. Anoushey is rich but definitely not classy. The way she looked at Mehwish when she wanted to keep her jewelry bag with her was condescending. This made me wonder why Danish didn’t know just how modern she was or that she was divorced. Although Danish and Mehwish have been married for a few years but conversations like the ones they had on the mehndi make it look like, they are just getting to know each other and the people associated with them.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode didn’t have anything grand to offer, the story so far is pretty simple and there is nothing new about it. Nadeem Baig’s direction in this episode was more impressive than Khalil-ur-Rehman’s script. Ayeza Khan gave a solid performance and Adnan Siddiqui’s acting was also effortless in this episode. Ayeza Khan and Humayun Saeed share great on-screen chemistry because of which even though the script leaves you confused at times, these two are convincing in their respective roles. I absolutely love the child star playing their son’s role.

Mehwish is a very attractive woman and her husband knows that. Danish’s dialogues about not wanting to use things which have been in someone’s use already showed how possessive he was about his wife. This was his way of telling the neighbor off who was clearly more interested in Mehwish. This episode also ended too quickly and it basically covered one more day in Danish and Mehwish’s life. When Hira Mani said that Danish was the actual ‘heroine’ of this drama, I didn’t quite get what she meant but after watching these two episodes I am pretty sure now that Danish is going to be the male version of the bechari aurat who doesn’t get the love and respect she deserves from her spouse. The story is predictable but I am waiting to see how it’s covered.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 12 Story Review – The End

This episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho covered the last few hours of Danish and Mehwish as husband and wife. Tonight’s episode had to be the most disturbing one since it covered Danish’s extremely troubled state of mind with utmost precision. Everything bizarre Danish did in this episode seemed like a futile attempt to take control of a situation which was no longer in his control. Another disturbing element of this episode was the fact that Rumi was sleeping peacefully in the other room completely unaware of how his life was about to change. This scenario reminded me of Danish’s dialogues in the previous episode in which he mentioned how much faith children had in their parents and just how innocent they are. Few of the dialogues tonight also reminded me of the drama Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua. The recap of the previous episode tonight was far too long.

Humayun Saeed once again outdid himself in this episode. Danish’s dialogues and situation tonight was not easy to translate on screen yet his performance once again was remarkable as well as effortless. Ayeza Khan translated Mehwish’s ‘fear’ and eagerness to get out of the house impeccably on screen. The divorce papers came as a surprise, I am waiting to see a few flashback scenes covering how Danish got those papers made so quickly since given his state of mind, this must have been truly challenging. Shahwar and Mehwish once again were shown as heartless individuals with no conscience. Adnan Siddiqui gave his best performance tonight. Nadeem Baig deserves all the praise for his skillful direction which made every single scene and expression impactful.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 12 Story Review - The End

The Final Goodbye

This episode opened with Shahwar reassuring Mehwish just how ‘qeemti’ she was and the explanation he gave seemed to satisfy Mehwish completely. Danish asked Mehwish for one last unexpected ‘favor’. His dialogues were bitter (rightly so) and they reflected his helplessness as well as his anger. He knew Mehwish didn’t want to do all of this yet he clearly forced her to cut the cake and celebrate an anniversary which was in no way a happy affair. The way Nadeem Baig covered the scenarios in this episode actually made me feel every bit of the nightmare Danish was living. This was the kind of episode that makes you want to pause scenes to absorb whatever the characters were thinking and going through. Why was Danish putting himself through all this? Why couldn’t he just leave Mehwish? Danish surely is a ‘character’ – one who makes you feel for him. You want to knock some sense into him but then when you think about the way he has been cheated, you can’t help but understand where he is coming from.

Tonight for the first time, I wanted Danish to ask Mehwish all those questions which a husband in his position would ask. Danish gave Mehwish all the love in the world yet here she was leaving him in the most ruthless manner for another man she barely knew. Danish did not question her but in the past few episodes he definitely tried to make her understand that she was wrong. The fact that this wasn’t Danish’s decision but something he had to go along with because he knew Mehwish was bent on leaving him was further reinforced tonight. All the scenes tonight showed just how difficult it was for Danish to let go. The bleeding from his wound, his anger when Mehwish did not fulfill his last request the way he wanted her to and his last dialogue clearly conveyed his state of mind clearly.

Mehwish and Shahwar

Mehwish was actually scared of Danish, she did not feel ‘safe’ around the man she had spent so many years with because subconsciously she knew how much she had hurt him. Once again Mehwish’s relentless faith in Shahwar showed in her actions. She did not doubt this man even for a minute and she never even planned the future in any way. The fact that Mehwish did not hesitate for a single second or stop to look at Rumi before leaving went to show just how sure she was of her decision. The way Shahwar and Mehwish smiled when they were in the car was yet another scene which showed that they were both certain that this would be the start of a happy life.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 12 Story Review - The End

Shahwar is definitely a shady character and so far the viewers know very little about him. Apart from the fact that he is an unfaithful man with no principles who thinks he can buy everyone and everything with money, the viewers don’t know much about him. I sincerely hope that we will get to see him suffering in some way too since he is also the one cheating on his wife and he is just as responsible for breaking a home and heart as Mehwish is. While Danish dreaded what his morning was going to be like the next day and how his life will change, Mehwish and Shahwar were too busy planning their union.

Final Remarks

Nadeem Baig and all the actors involved deserve tons of appreciation for breathing tangible life into a really complicated script. The OST of Meray Pass Tum Ho is extremely beautiful and the director has made the most of it. The background score too was once again used wisely in all the scenes. Tonight’s episode laid the foundations for what is coming ahead. It was a great idea to dedicate an entire episode to this important development and it was an even better idea not to reveal what was going to happen in the next episode. What lies ahead for Mehwish? How will Danish cope? Apart from Danish, I felt for Rumi the most tonight. This was another emotional episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho which kept me glued right till the end but watching Danish suffer was heartbreaking!

Episode in a nutshell

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 11 Story Review – Completely Unexpected

Torte torte talluq ko nibhate jao – this one line from the OST of Meray Pass Tum Ho sums up what we saw in tonight’s phenomenal episode. This episode was so overwhelmingly emotional that it is actually difficult to pen down my feelings immediately after watching it. Humayun Saeed’s powerful performance was the highlight of this episode. He nailed every single expression and owned the complicated emotions his character went through tonight, completely. Nadeem Baig deserves an award for executing every single scene in the most perfect way possible. The background score tonight was used so intelligently that it actually added to the impact and meaning of all those significant and poignant scenes which could easily have been lost in translation. The camerawork was beyond impressive, the director made sure that the cameraman captured every ounce of emotion with his lens. Nadeem Baig has directed this drama in such a way that you really get transported to another world and find yourself feeling for Danish. Tonight, I am sure just like me everyone else also felt all those powerful emotions which Danish fought with throughout. Tonight’s episode was terribly upsetting because although we were all anticipating that Mehwish was eventually going to leave Danish but no one could have imagined that Danish was literally going to hand over his wife to another man because he was sure that being with Shahwar would make Mehwish happier than she had ever been with him. Once again, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar has shown the unimaginable! The dialogues tonight were so beautiful, deep and meaningful.

Danish and Shahwar’s Meeting

This was one of those meetings which the viewers are not going to forget for a really long time. From the time Danish entered the office to the time he left, every single moment was extremely powerful. Once again while Danish had absolutely no idea what was going to be the outcome of this meeting, Shahwar was composed because he had everything planned beforehand. Danish is an emotional person who believes in unconditional love while Shahwar’s moves are always well calculated. He firmly believes that everything and everyone can be bought while Danish couldn’t care less about money. The difference between the approaches of both these men was more obvious tonight in this meeting than it ever was before.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 11 Story Review - Completely Unexpected

Humayun Saeed’s overall look in this scene was completely in line with everything his character was going through. He deserves all the praise in the world for a job brilliantly done. Shahwar’s intentions were quite clear when he made Danish listen to his conversation with Mehwish and made him look at those pictures. That was the defining moment and the fact that all of this was shown in such detail made the entire scenario easy to understand even though there was nothing simple about this situation.

The scene that was covered while Shahwar was talking to Mehwish was one of my favorites tonight. In this scene Adnan Siddiqui’s expressions clearly showed that even though Shahwar had planned everything so well but he couldn’t help being extremely shocked by Danish’s reaction. The person who was so used to being in control of everything actually felt clueless for a few minutes. Shahwar’s reaction to what Danish said after listening to his conversation with Mehwish suggested that he did not like being surprised even if such a surprise was in his favor. Also, it seemed like he would have liked it more if Danish reacted in a more dramatic manner. He clearly wanted to hurt Danish so bad that he would end up leaving Mehwish out of anger but Danish left Mehwish because he was sure that she will be happier with Shahwar. What an unexpected turn of events, simply mind-blowing.

Mehwish’s Overconfidence and Lack of Guilt

Mehwish’s attitude tonight was also shocking even though the past episode already revealed that she had made up her mind but even then Mehwish’s blatant disregard of Danish’s feelings showed just how much she trusted Shahwar! She no longer even feels sorry for him! In such a short span of time Mehwish was so sure that Shahwar was going to give her everything he promised. Although Mehwish is extremely selfish and materialistic but at the same time you can’t help but notice just how naive she is! She thinks she is clever, she called Danish a kunwei ka mendak tonight because he refused to strike a deal with Shahwar but she did not question her own actions even for a second. She did not even think about the consequences of her actions before and even now she isn’t thinking what can happen if things don’t go as planned. Sometimes too much confidence in your own judgment can be lethal – Mehwish will learn that the hard way.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 11 Story Review - Completely Unexpected

Danish had confidence in the relationship and these two shared therefore he did not doubt her even when he could clearly see that she was acting strange but tonight when he found out that being with Shahwar makes Mehwish happy, he decided he needed to let her be happy! This was an extremely difficult decision and it seemed like there were times when Danish was hoping that Mehwish will perhaps change her mind.

Danish and Mehwish’s scenes made me dislike Mehwish even more and it won’t be wrong to say that I will be watching this drama to see Mehwish suffer perhaps more than to see Danish happy!

Final Remarks

This episode belonged to the writer Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar, the director Nadeem Baig and the phenomenal actor Humayun Saeed. After Dillagi, this has to be Humayun Saeed’s most powerful performance. Ayeza Khan has underplayed her character which is why there are times when you wish she would not hold back. Adnan Siddiqui did exactly that he was supposed to tonight. I have to say that although his character is relatively easier to translate on screen but Adnan Siddiqui has nevertheless performed really well. Danish’s scenes with Rumi once again were beautifully written and acted-out. The child star playing Rumi’s role is a sweetheart. Tonight’s episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho was exceptionally powerful in every way.

The preview of the next episode showed that Danish will divorce Mehwish and Shahwar’s dialogues revealed more about his personality. How will Danish cope with the trauma of this ugly betrayal? What is next in store for Mehwish? I can’t wait to find out!

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 10 Story Review – Mystery Solved

This episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho was mind-blowing. Khalil-ur-Rehman’s script has taken off for sure, Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan’s performances tonight were outstanding and tonight’s episode was brilliantly directed as well. The evolution of the characters has been the best part of this drama. Mehwish’s defiance, Danish’s helplessness and Shahwar’s manipulation was covered perfectly in tonight’s episode. Few weeks back, it was difficult to even imagine that a drama with literally three characters would end up being so engaging.

The first few episodes of Meray Pass Tum Ho were repetitive and confusing but it seems like it will turn out to be an interesting play after all. Even tonight, I couldn’t help but wonder what Danish’s background was but I must say that the way his present situation has been translated on screen, I am more than willing to ignore the lack of a proper background. The writer definitely has something solid to offer and Nadeem Baig deserves all the praise for directing every single episode so well.

This was the kind of episode in which every single dialogue, situation and even expression counted – the actors made sure that everything which was penned down on paper came alive on screen. It was another episode which kept me completely hooked. There wasn’t a single scene which was out of place or unnecessary. The way the mystery surrounding Shahwar and Mehwish’s meeting was revealed was also terrific. This was a really smart move by the writer since this meeting piqued the viewers’ curiosity after watching last week’s episode.

Meray Pass Tum Ho definitely has my undivided attention and this drama proves that an old story too can be told from a fresh perspective. Very often we see women fighting to keep their marriages intact in dramas but rarely do we see men doing the same. Danish’s attempts to make Mehwish stay and blaming Shahwar more than Mehwish is definitely something brand new. He is the one who wants to save this marriage while Shahwar is doing everything in his power to break it.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 10 Story Review - Mystery Solved

Poor Danish

Tonight’s episode focused completely on Danish’s desperate attempts to make Mehwish understand that he was more than willing to forgive her, while the defiance in Mehwish’s eyes clearly indicated that she no longer loved this man with whom she had spent so many years of her life. Danish’s reassurances throughout this episode and his attempts to give Mehwish everything she once wished for had absolutely no affect on Mehwish. Those scenes covering how desperately Danish wanted life to return to normal were superbly done. While Danish tried hard to please Mehwish, he couldn’t help but mention ‘last night’.

Danish’s behavior when they went to the beach and the dialogues showed that he was more than willing to change himself even though whatever happened was not his fault! Danish’s character has been etched-out wonderfully and Humayun Saeed’s acting tonight was beyond impressive. Humayun Saeed nailed every single expression tonight – his expressions on the dinner table when Roomi made those remarks were priceless. Danish is fighting a losing battle, he picks himself up every time and fights harder than ever and even now he has faith that Mehwish will eventually go back to being her old self. Danish is in denial because he cannot bear the thought of losing Mehwish. At the same time Danish’s fears and his anxiety was translated impeccably through various scenes. It was also good to see Danish making a decision for a change despite of Mehwish’s narazgi and zid. He knows what is at stake and what the consequences can be if he allows Mehwish to work for Shahwar, he made that mistake once and does not want to make it again.

The phone call from the desk in the office was too cute, this was another scene in which Humayun Saeed’s expressions were right on point. Danish made the viewers feel for him every step of the way and this time around Humayun Saeed did not overdo the becharapan at all. Danish’s interactions with Rumi were also the highlight of this episode.

Meray Pass Tum Ho Episode 10 Story Review - Mystery Solved

Mehwish Has Made Up Her Mind

The ‘meeting’ in Islamabad was Shahwar’s way of ‘tempting’ Mehwish even more. He gave her a choice and it didn’t take Mehwish too long to decide what she wanted. It was sad watching Mehwish give in to the temptation so easily. Mehwish referred to Danish as ‘wo’ in this episode while talking to Shahwar – like he was the ‘other man’! The disconnect Mehwish felt after finding out how much Shahwar ‘valued’ her was quite obvious past two weeks too but tonight more than ever it was apparent that Mehwish felt nothing but ‘sorry’ for Danish. Right from the start it seemed like Danish loved Mehwish and Mehwish perhaps married him in the hope that he will give her a ‘good’ life. Mehwish has seen what it is like to be a rich man’s girlfriend therefore being Danish’s wife is just not appealing enough. Mehwish is so sure she deserves better thanks to two men who compliment her on regular basis. Mehwish’s ‘confidence’ in her good looks makes her believe every single lie Shahwar tells her.

Shahwar is a manipulative and clever man who knows how to play his cards right. He realized early on that Mehwish is attracted to his status and wealth. Shahwar also comes across as a shady person, perhaps someone who derives pleasure out of  breaking marriages. Shahwar could conveniently have an affair with Mehwish but he has control issues, he wants Mehwish all to himself. I find it hard to believe that he ‘loves’ Mehwish because the way he talked to his wife tonight showed that he is showing Mehwish a different side of his personality. The writer has kept the curiosity alive by not revealing this character entirely. We have seen Shahwar interacting with Mehwish more than anyone else and we have never seen a side of his personality when no one is around. Mehwish trusts him blindly because the only man she has been close to is Danish – someone who never lies and is honest. Mehwish’s friend is suddenly out of the picture. She used to share every little thing with her but now she is nowhere to be seen.

The scene at the beach was one of the best tonight. Ayeza Khan’s expressions in this scene and her thoughts conveyed the message so well. Mehwish is not happy in this marriage any more – she has planned a future without Danish therefore no matter what he does now, it seems, she is going to leave him. Mehwish’s logic clearly is that she deserves better than Danish.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode had so many meaningful scenes which made this episode engaging as well as emotional. This episode also had the most brilliant performances by all the actors involved. Adnan Siddiqui has not only nailed the expressions but the look he sports in this drama goes so well with his character. Ayeza Khan and Humayun Saeed deserve a standing ovation for their flawless performances. Nadeem Baig’s direction definitely gives this drama an edge.

Eagerly looking forward to the next episode. Do share your thoughts about this latest episode of Meray Pass Tum Ho.

Meray Pass Tum Ho director praises Ayeza Khan for playing Mehwish

Meray Pass Tum Ho is currently one of the leading television serials running on ARY Digital. The drama that stars Ayeza Khan, Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui in the lead revolves around a materialistic woman and her loving husband. Mehwish, played by Ayeza Khan is a cunning woman who would do anything for money, even if it involves bypassing her morals and going on trips with her boss, Shahwar. Up until now, we’ve seen Mehwish not caring a dime for Danish’s feelings, compelling him to accept bribe and trying to mix up with her elite friend, without any regards to what Danish feels.

Mehwish’s character is despicable, something a loyal woman would absolutely hate. Even Ayeza Khan herself states Mehwish’s character to be tough and something she’d never want to live again. But all those who watch the drama know that Ayeza Khan has delivered Mehwish impeccably. The actress has nailed Mehwish’s expressions, her feelings and makes you hate her just by looking at her.

Playing such a character is not easy and therefore Ayeza Khan is definitely worthy of the praise coming her way. Even the director, Nadeem Baig, has been highly impressed with Ayeza’s performance as Mehwish.

Nadeem recently took to his social media to praise Ayeza for her courage and craft for playing Mehwish so close to life. Nadeem didn’t forget to mention that people were hating Mehwish just because Ayeza had played it so real. “Well done Aiza Khan” was what Nadeem Baig wrote.

Ayeza Khan too was quick to thank Nadeem Baig for his praise, but in doing so, she did deliver a premonition. The coming episodes are more painful for Danish and that the fans will definitely be hating on Ayeza more than ever for playing Mehwish. “I dont know how people will react after watching the next episodes but I am sure these episodes will keep them hooked to Meray Pass Tum Ho,” wrote Ayeza on her Instagram.

Meray Paas Tum Ho Gets Approval For Screening From Censor Board

Meray Paas Tum Ho, the cult classic with a huge fan following, is gearing up to air its last episode come Saturday 25th January. The last episode will be of eighty minutes in all and air on ARY Digital as well as in cinemas across Pakistan.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B7WfghjJoJG/

And now, since the producers have obtained clearance from censor boards across Punjab as well, it seems, the screening of the drama will now go hassle free, (if the petition filed against the writer and airing of last episode) doesn’t produce any trouble.

Meray Paas Tum Ho Gets Approval For Screening From Censor Board

However, one thing that should be kept in mind that the last episode of Meray Paas Tum Ho won’t be available for viewing on YouTube once it has aired. The episode however, can be watched on ARY’s newly launched app, ARY ZAP, where the episode will also be available an hour before its world premiere.

Meray Paas Tum Ho Episode 1 Story Review – The Necklace

There was absolutely nothing new about the promos of this drama, we have seen similar stories in dramas like Mere Khawab Reza Reza and lately Khasara. However, I had faith in the writer and the director in particular therefore I decided to watch this drama and review it. Another reason for tuning into this drama was that we have not seen Humayun Saeed playing a middle class man struggling to keep it all together since Doraha days. Well, I must say that this first episode reminded me of the short story ‘The Necklace’ by Guy de Maupassant. Anyone who has read the story will agree with me, the screenplay of this first episode was definitely inspired (not completely copied) from that short story; the entire scenario was a little too similar.

This couldn’t possibly be a coincidence, I definitely did not expect Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to go down that lane. ARY Digital also did not do the viewers a favor by showing such detailed promos and by explaining every single character in the synopsis which they posted on their website! Most importantly, I expected better from Humayun Saeed, who is an intelligent man and someone who has been in the business for such a long time. This first episode had its good points but honestly the similarities with dramas and now a novel basically show that the writer was probably not given the creative freedom which every writer needs in order to write what they want.

Mehwish and Danish

This first episode focused entirely on the main characters, Mehwish (Ayeza Khan) and Danish (Humayun Saeed). The viewers who have watched the promos of this drama and especially those who watched the morning show in which the cast was invited already knew the basic personality traits of these characters. Having said that, the fact that Danish was willing to go to any length in order to please Mehwish was something ‘new’ since in every other drama, the ‘sharif’ husband stays true to this personality trait right till the end. Therefore, it is good to know that these characters are not going to be black and white. Also, although Mehwish wants more than she has, she wasn’t shown as a negative person – this was one dominating trait of her personality but definitely not the only one. Right from the get-go, it was well established that Danish does whatever Mehwish tells him to whether it means giving an extra hundred to the rickshaw driver or taking the family out for dinner even when the budget does not allow it. Ayeza Khan played her part well, it was good to see her playing a role which isn’t glamorous (at least not yet). Humayun Saeed made Danish’s innocence come alive on screen more than anything else. He was absolutely brilliant as Mohid therefore I am waiting to see more of him in the upcoming weeks. The child actor is really cute and his acting was quite natural.

Mere Paas Tum Ho

The Necklace

The necklace was used as a symbol, just like it was in the short story (how many of you attended Literature classes? LOL!!). It basically showed how Mehwish was easily lured by materialistic objects and felt that she didn’t have enough or that she needed/deserved more – which obviously is okay but there was nothing ‘normal’ about the ‘expectations’ she had from Danish. Expecting him to use illegal means to earn money without thinking about the consequences clearly suggested that Mehwish didn’t really mean it when she said that she was happy with what she had.

Final Remarks

The story is a little too predictable, I wish I hadn’t seen the promos and especially the morning show because Hira Mani literally gave the story away! This first episode was strictly okay but also not completely disappointing since it seems like this old story might have a little twist this time around. It is however unfortunate that the producers and writers keep on recycling old scripts. After Dillagi, I was expecting something grand from Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig in particular. I am willing to give this one a shot but apart from wondering how Mehwish and Danish will get rid of the other necklace, I am pretty sure where the story will go from here. Nadeem Baig deserves due credit for directing this first episode really well. He used different locations, from sea view to the office, and did not compromise on that which made everything look more realistic on screen.
