Speaking about how it was weighing on her conscience and how she needed to talk about it she said,
“The first and foremost reason [for breaking silence] is that I’m ready. I have started talking to people and divulging my experience. I’m finding it hard on my conscience to stay silent any longer than this because I’m seeing such brave girls and women speaking up – not just around the world – but here as well.”
Referring to the girls who spoke being harassed by former Patari CEO Khalid Bajwa, she added,
“I have to say, by the way, I salute these girls. It’s not easy. They are not public figures and I think it can be harder for me, in a way, but it’s hard for everyone. The more I think about it, the more I realise that if I don’t go public, nothing will change. It was eating away at me.”
Being the mother of two, a boy and a girl, she has been teaching her kids about good touch and bad touch these days and to talk to her if anyone touches them inappropriately. She said that teaching them about all this while she kept silent when these things happen to her as an adult was gnawing at her,
“I am telling my children how important it is to speak up, so it was getting difficult for me to stay silent knowing that it was not accidental or subtle.”
Meesha recalled that the harassment wasn’t about a hug that went on for too long, a greeting that went on for a little too long or a lingering handshake.
“Women who feel that that’s inappropriate and speak-up and feel harassed, that is absolutely their right and not to take away anything from them in any way but it was more than that and that people need to know.”
She continued,
“The first time it happened, I didn’t react and just left. I told my husband but also asked him to not react; I’m a public figure and so is he [Ali Zafar]. My thought process was who I am and who he is and what that’s going to lead to. Being ready to talk was far off because it had just happened. I buried it.”
But it happened again late last year or last quarter of last year. And in both instances, they were not alone. The second time it happened in a jam room. she said,
“I got booked for a concert,”
She and Ali Zafar were billed to perform on the same concert. When asked why she said agreed to perform with him, she said:
“It is my bread and butter, it was work coming my way.”
It eventually resulted in them preparing a song that they could perform together.
“I was jamming with my band in Lahore and the organisers insisted that he was trying to get in touch. It started turning into a thing, and I was being seen as difficult or a diva, I got such feelers. I was avoiding him. I was asked to jam, figure out songs, scale and it happened while we were jamming.”
The singer remarked that ever since she went public with the story a burden has been lifted. she added,
“It is liberating, it’s empowering and it’s not the end of the world. I only felt hesitant as long as I hadn’t told anyone. The more people I tell, the more power I feel. I do. That has been my direct experience in the case. I’ve done the thing I feared and I’ve taken the leap of faith. And you know what, it’s okay,”

Singer and model Mesha Shafi had accused internationally renowned singer and actor Ali Zafar of harassment, while the court hearing of the case has not yet reached its logical conclusion.
However, the ‘Times of India’ yesterday claimed that Meesha Shafi has been sentenced to three years in prison for making false allegations against Ali Zafar, after which ‘Mail Online’ published the same news.

Meesha Shafi shared the news of ‘Mail Online’ on her Instagram account and wrote that there is no truth in it.

Singer Meesha Shafi made her TV debut with Muhabbat Khuwab Ki Soorat (2010) on Hum TV. In the same year, she appeared in Ye Zindagi To Woh Nahi (Geo TV). After a gap of 5 years, and her film debut in Waar (2013) she is back with Mor Mahal.

After many celebrities who have spoken previously Meesha Shafi too decided to break her silence today and accused her co star Ali Zafar of sexual harassment.
In a note attached to a tweet this afternoon Meesha Shafi penned down,

“I have been subjected to sexual harassment of a physical nature at the hands of a colleague from my industry: Ali Zafar. These incidences did not happen when I was young or just entering the industry. This happened to be despite the fact that I am an empowered, accomplished woman who is known for speaking her mind! This happened to me as a mother of two children.”
She continued,
“Ali is someone I have known for many years and someone I shared the stage with. I feel betrayed by his behaviour and his attitude and I know that I am not alone.”
Ali Zafar hasn’t confirmed or denied these allegations yet as everyone awaits his response.
It was a shock to everyone when recently Meesha Shafi deleted her Instagram and Facebook accounts. She did not cite a cause for it on her twitter either. They were simply gone. Meesha just gave an interview to the Images and revealed the reason behind this step.
When asked about deleting the accounts, she didn’t hold back and answered straight away:
They have been deactivated for very obvious reasons, one would think. The abuse, threats, bullying and slander that I have faced is the reason I felt the strong need to protect not just myself but my family, especially my two young children who were also being subjected to personal attacks online.
Well we know Meesha didn’t get much support from her colleagues either, she said that she knows that expecting that much from anyone would be a lot:
Believe me, I now know what it takes to speak the truth. And to expect the same from anyone would be expecting too much, it seems. The silence has been hurtful, no doubt. But I chose to stand up alone, and I’m not judging anyone.
She also pointed out that she has not PR team set up to counter rumours being spread about her:
I don’t pay heed to rumours. The slanderous campaign against me has set back the progress of women speaking up and speaking out by hundreds of years. I don’t have some PR mechanism to counter rumours with rumours, slander with slander, trolling with more trolling. All I have with me is the truth. And I believe the truth is a very powerful thing.
Meesha also told the publication that the whole case is now being handled by the law experts!

She asked that it is very close to my heart what did you first feel when you heard about Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi on which he sarcastically laughed and said things should have solved within the families, the matter shouldn’t have come out because it becomes ugly and everyone talks about it and in this matter who so ever was at fault needed to act sanely because we are not brainy people we are using all these me too, he too, she too as weapons, we are following west.
He said there is nothing which can’t be resolved within selves and if it’s not possible break up with certain friends who do damage to you. He said both should have resolved it in private and if it was not possible just be a part would have been simpler and better option.
He said all this is happening because we are away from our religion and we are the nation stuck between MTV and QTV. We play with cards when we need them and this is bad. He said we don’t even follow an Islamic law system we are in between British law system and Islamic law systems. He urged people to be good human instead and he requested media people and public that make sure your issues to be resolved with in the walls of house.
Parwarish was a drama that was loved by the audience. The drama had lessons, fun, laughter, emotions and at the same time it started a lot of discussions. The show was written by Kiran Siddiqui and directed by Meesam Naqvi. Meesam also played the character of Boss who was loved by everyone. He revealed his regrets regarding filming of the show and the script changes.
Meesam Naqvi revealed why some sequences made less sense when they were shown in Parwarish. Like there was no sense of JB not worrying when his son got shot. He revealed that they were supposed to shoot several sequences of the family in the USA and those could not happen due to technical issues. He did not want to cheat those scenes in Pakistan and those scenes about Wali’s family were ultimately cut from the script.
