The Pakistani entertainment industry has been suffering loss after loss this year, We have lost many big names and many powerhouses of talent and intellect this year. From the legendary Zia Mohyeuddin to Qavi Khan Sahab, the industry and the nation lost two giants and now veteran actor Shabbir Rana has also passed away.

The senior actor breathed his last this morning. He has been a part of some very big projects in his career. His dramas include names like Jackson Heights, Ab Kar Meri Rafugari and Qaid e Tanhai. He has also appeared in films like Moor. This is another huge blow to the drama entertainment industry and Shabbir Rana’s fans are devastated on hearing the news.

Legendary Pakistani film and television actor Rasheed Naz passed away in Islamabad Monday morning at 4:00 AM. He was 73 years old. Actor Hasan Noman’s better half, actor Madiha Rizvi took to Instagram early on 17th January to reveal the news of her father-in-law’s demise. She wrote, “Our dearest Baba Rashid Naz Has left this world peacefully this morning.” The actress went on to request her followers to recite Surah Fateha for the “departed soul.”

I have survived four heart attacks, now, I say to Allah, ‘oh Allah, why did you give me this life. Was I just alive to see this, why have you saved me, how can I pay this bill, our politicians and the governors are the looters, they have been living a privileged life but the public is being served with heavy bills, there is no work, we are hardly surviving. I have chosen the right path, it is easy for me to be with the thieves to fulfil my requirements but I don’t want to do that due to my conscience. I have to show my face to Allah. Allah will forgive me but I am very sad about this situation, O Lord, I am born in a very wrong country, this is what we are getting in return for our services. For God sakes, this is what we are living for, I am in pain, I am in grief, I am worried, I don’t want to live, let my family survive on its own after me, I am done, I was born in the wrong country. I could have lived a better life abroad. We gave everything to Pakistan. Oh my Allah, have mercy on us”

Veteran actor Nouman Ijaz blasted the entertainment industry over the ongoing payment crisis along with a lack of empathy from channels and producers towards actors during the Covid-19 pandemic. Nouman made the shocking revelations on a chat show with Rafay Rashidi, revealing how a number of actors have not been paid their dues even after years, including himself. “Two channels owe me as much as Rs65 million even after four years.”

Noman then went on saying that actors in Pakistan are working like ‘donkeys’. “The entire system is corrupt. When a producer has to ask his broadcaster for payments, he has to “beg him” for it’” he said further adding that even during the pandemic, channels blackmailed producers for content, who then blackmailed actors that they would be blacklisted if they didn’t work.

Noman also claimed that many actors had to hide that they tested positive for COVID-19 due to the fear of losing work.

Veteran actor Naila Jaffery, who is fighting ovarian cancer since 2016 and unable to pursue her treatment, has asked for royalties for her drama shows being re-telecasted on television channels.

In a video circulating on social media, Naila Jaffery said that she has been suffering from the disease for last six years and she has not been able to get second session of chemotherapy. The actor said that she was hospitalized with an infection, adding: “I kept on thinking that our government and policy makers should take care of artists”.

She recalled that the Pakistan Television had given royalties for shows re-broadcasted by it. “Even though the money was too less, we were happy”. She added, “I have been sick for six years, everyone has assisted me, but I wish we had a few percent of the shows that are being replayed today”.

Senior actor and comedian, Kader Khan has been on a wheelchair since the past three years. He had also undergone a knee surgery.

Reportedly, Khan was rushed to the hospital after his health deteriorated after his knee-surgery.

It is also being reported that he has been taken to Canada where his elder son also lives. Shakti Kapoor has confirmed the news who happens to be a close friend of Kader Khan.

He is reported to have said:

“Yes, Kader Khan is now on a wheelchair. It’s so so sad to be talking about this and I am trying to reach him since the past few days, but I am not able to get his number. I hope to have it in the next 2-3 days,”

“Kader Khan’s elder son resides in Canada. So, he has gone there to avail medical facilities which can cure him. I think his wife is accompanying him”, added Kapoor.

Veteran Pakistani actor, Farooq Zameer, passed away on Thursday, at the age of 76.

The legendary actor started his career in the 60s and rose to fame with his plays like Guriya, Shamail and ‘Suragh-i-Zindagi’. He has also been working for private drama channels. One of the most successful dramas of his career was ‘Mukammal and Mahira’.

He passed away after a protracted illness at the Combined Military Hospital, Lahore. According to Dawn, funeral prayers for the late actor will be offered on Saturday on the return of one of his sons from the US. He left behind a widow, three sons and a daughter.

One of his major feats is the translation A Song for this Day: 52 poems by Faiza Ahmed Faiz.

Educationist and artist Salima Hashmi is his wife while legendary poet Faiza Ahmed faiz was his father in law. Actor Adeel Hashmi known for appearing in famous telecom ads is his son.

Pakistani entertainment industry lost another gem today as veteran actor Ali Ejaz is no more. Ali Ejaz is a renowned name in both drama and film industry. He worked in many hits and is considered a very successful veteran of the industry. He started his career from dramas and his drama Khawaja and Sons was a huge hit with the masses. He then kept on working in many hit dramas.

Ali Ejaz started his film career in 1961 and did films like FBI Operation Pakistan, Dhee Rani and Sala Sahab. He was known for his perfect comic timing as well as a command on dramatic scenes. He has also done philanthropic work with a foundation that aimed at building old age homes.

Ali Ejaz breathed his last today in Lahore at the age of 77. He suffered a cardiac arrest and left this mortal world. May his soul rest in peace and may Allah grant him a place in Jannah!

In an unfortunate turn of events, veteran comedian Amanullah passed away in Lahore last night. According to Amanullah’s family, the comedian had been admitted in the hospital on 3rd March once again.

Amanullah had been suffering from lung and kidney diseases for quite some time now. The comedian had earlier been admitted to a hospital but was released later.

Having been in and out of hospital for multiple medical issues, Amanullah’s family had earlier requested prayers and the comedian had been on the ventilator.

The 70 year old actor was born in Gujranwala in 1950. Amanullah was one of the best stage comedians in Pakistan. His first stage performance was “One Man Comedy Show” at a local theatre in Lahore in which he performed mimicry of famous celebrities. Amanullah’s most popular stage plays are Basheera in Trouble” and “Landa Bazaar”. The veteran comedian, over a career spanning 40 years worked in about 40 stage plays.

Many of Mahira Khan’s fans have enjoyed watching her show, TUC – The Lighter Side Of Life. Mahira saved the best for the last episode in which Fawad Khan was her guest. Last Sunday marked the launch of Shoaib Mansoor’s upcoming social drama Verna’s music album. Shoaib is not only known for his incredible filmography but also for his top notch sound tracks, be it Khuda Key Liye or Bol Shoaib simply blows everyone’s mind with his music so naturally the expectations from Verna’s music are high.

The album consists of six sound tracks:

• Power Di Game
• Khushi Ki Baat
• Sambhal Sambhal
• Zinda
• Lafzon Mein Kharabi Thi

Shoaib is the wordsmith behind all these tracks with Zinda being the exception which is written, composed and sung by Soch band.

Khushi Ki Baat is composed by Shoaib himself while the melodious voices belong to Zeb Bangash and Richie Robinson.

Shuja Haider and Aima baig sang Lafzon Mein Kharabi Thi while the composition belongs to Baqir Abbass and Shoaib Mansoor, the song is bound to give you Qawali feels.

Ashko is sung by Zain Ul Abidin and composed by Gulraj Singh.

Prior to the music album release love song Sambhal Sambhal was released which has been both sung and performed on screen by the film’s male lead Haroon Shahid and Zeb Bangash. Haroon also composed this song.

Instep reported that Mahira took a lot of time in saying yes to the film and first runner up for the role was Kubra Khan. But finally Mahira Khan signed the film. This movie according to Instep is the boldest and darkest movie by Shoaib Mansoor till date. Mahira plays the role of a school teacher who gets raped by a politician’s son which leads her to depression and causes issues in her marital life. The incident is followed by an intense courtroom drama which will be first of its kind in the history of Pakistani cinema. Rasheed Naz who played the role of Maulana in Shoaib’s Khuda ke Liye will play the role of lawyer. This role was previously offered to Manzar Sehbai who couldn’t do it due to his prior commitments. The film is shot in Islamabad and is ready to be released but no dates have been announced yet. We are totally looking forward to this one!

FIA has finally concluded the investigation into the matter and cleared Nadia Khan of any malintent towards Sharmila’s mother Anisa Farooqui. Head of Cybercrime Wing FIA Sindh, Imran Riza announced the verdict and Nadia Khan shared it on her timeline:

Bollywood for the first time is coming out with an all-female lead film. The comedy-drama Veere Di Wedding stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar and Shikha Talsania in lead roles. The story revolves around four friends and their preparations for the character played by Kareena Kapoor.

The film was due to release on 1st June worldwide but now it will not release in Pakistan as Islamabad sensor board has banned it for vulgar language. According to the board, it is not a family film.

The Sindh Censor Board initially cleared it for release with minor cuts but now it has been banned and will not get released in Pakistan.
