Besharam – Episode 11!

Ohkay so, this episode of Besharam was amaaaaaazing. I loved the note at which it began & like I always say, the note at which it ended left me looking forward to what is yet to come. I am really glad that the writer came up with such a brilliant script but what makes me even happier is the way the director has executed it. Everything in this drama, be it dialogues, acting, scenes, characters, situations, direction & editing is on-point & you just can’t fault it.

Haider actually has started expecting more from Mishail, that is why when she showed up a bit late, he was disappointed. It’s not that he wants her to serve him but it was just a longing that he felt for her presence around him. I love how they both come clean in every single situation, Mishail didn’t think twice before telling him the truth that she wanted to come earlier but it was his mother who didn’t allow that to happen & also she told him about what she heard his mother saying. Haider knows that Mishi is putting up with a lot & for that, he feels thankful & burdened at the same time too because he knows that Mishi doesn’t deserve this but the way she copes up with everything actually shows her determination of making this marriage work.

Haider heard when Mishail spoke to her mother on the phone, that is why, that conversation forced him to say what he didn’t want to. Despite all the efforts that Mishi is making, Haider feels that she is not made for this & he doesn’t understand why she is settling for the life Haider has offered her so far, that is why after thinking things through, he told Mishail to return to her home, her lifestyle where things won’t be so hard on her. The way the writer has developed the understanding between these characters is amazing, it’s like even though they both don’t really talk much, they know exactly what their shortcomings are & what the other person might be feeling or going through because of that.

I am glad that Mishail showed up at the right time & rescued Saba from the evil intentions of that photographer but what made me furious was the way Saba lied in front of her father to save her sorry being. I knew she will stir some trouble for Mishail & that is going to happen now because Sikandar will barge into Khadija’s home with a bag full of accusations on Mishail for being a bad influence on his daughter. If only parents of girls like these would think of taming their own spoiled children before being judgmental about others & blaming them too. I really hope when Sikandar shows up, Mishail is present at that point but I think Mishail will be with her mother & sadly, Sikandar will get to spew the venom against her.

It is actually nice to see how Humna has started showing acceptance towards Mishail & not only that, she has also started acknowledging the fact that Mishail is now their family member & she is Haider’s wife. I know Khadija does sound unreasonable at times but it is good how she often notices the gestures that Mishail does, it makes her reactions seem natural & I am sure it won’t be too long when she will wholeheartedly accept Mishail as a part of her family. I liked how despite knowing that Khadija didn’t want Mishail to be in the hospital, Mishail took charge of the situation, arranged a ride for Humna & Khadija & also decided to stay back with Haider, it would’ve made Khadija realize that Mishail is serious about this relationship & she is not mucking around!

Sophie & Sara’s scenes were fillers & I most certainly don’t mind that but I was surprised when Mishail decided to show up at Sara’s place & not only that, she agreed for an overnight stay too, especially when she knew that Haider might need her. I think this was the time when Mishail should’ve been with Haider as they both could’ve put this time to good use to understand each other even better but not sure how Haider will react to this. It was actually quite nice to see how Haider was regretting what he said to Mishail about leaving & he also knew that if he keeps on insisting, she might actually leave!!!

Overall, this episode was amazing & I am definitely looking forward to more. I must say, Saba Qamar looks absolutely pretty & it is good to see how she has polished herself over these years. I think the makeup artists have done a wonderful job too where they glam her up but keep her look a tad bit natural too. I must say what I love the most about this drama is the way the relationship of Mishail & Haider is developing. All these years when I watched the dramas & saw misunderstandings developing between the couples due to communication gap, I would always think why the characters don’t convey their feelings & cover the events in their words properly, so, I am relieved to see that Mishail & Haider have everything apart from communication gap which is a bonus. I actually feel a sense of relief when I see both of them conversing with each other with honesty & clarity, because it doesn’t leave a room for a misunderstanding to develop. I thank the writer for giving us such amazing characters that are all about honesty & make the straight-forward people look good! Also, I must will thank the director for adding that touch of reality in all the situations because it makes us connect to everything immediately, like the comment that Sikandar passed about Shakira wearing a Lehanga on her way to hospital & also the way Haider looked at Muneer trying to tell him that he only wanted to be with Mishail, these little things somehow complete the situations & make them seem very real, which I love. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this amazing episode of Besharam. :)

Zara Yaad Kar – Episode 19!

Ohkay so, this episode of Zara Yaad Kar was good. It showed some developments but I feel it’s about time that they should move the story forward at a good pace & reach to the conclusion soon because a few of the situations have started to seem repetitive & don’t really contribute in the progress of the story.

Uzma was definitely having a hard time after Haadi left because she has gotten used to the idea of having him around. When she entered his room, she got overwhelmed because everything in that room reminded her of him. Even Ikhtiyaar Sahab felt the void that came along Haadi’s departure. Ikhtiyaar Sahab actually knows the reason why Uzma took this decision & he respects that, which is actually good to see. A father like Ikhtiyaar is a rarity too because when he learned that Uzma liked Haadi, he gave her his consent but when he understood that the emotional havoc in Haadi’s life was affecting Uzma, he allowed her to do what she deemed fit. I like the confidence Ikhtiyaar Sahab has in his daughter because he trusts her & more than that, he has a complete faith in his wife’s upbringing.

I am not sure if I understood Aneesa this time around. She is well aware of how everything that Mahnoor is doing will haunt Haadi in the future, but she has decided to go with the flow & let Mahnoor take charge of the situation. I think for once, in stead of being a mother of Mahnoor, Aneesa should’ve thought about Haadi as his aunt. Yes, she did try to make him cautious of what he might feel in the future but the way she showed her Mahnoor’s jewelry & the wrist watch that she had bought for him made me feel that unwillingly & unconsciously, she was pressurizing Haadi to accept Mahnoor no matter what. I do like her character a lot & I like her profound thoughts & sayings, but I am not sure if her approach of becoming a mere spectator in this entire situation is right.

Just when I think that Mahnoor can’t surprise me more, she hits a new low & stoops to a lower level. Mahnoor’s candidness with her boss actually made me feel disgusted. For the first time, I strongly felt that Mahnoor was mentally sick because no girl can be so shameless & selfish. She was over the moon with the amount her boss paid for the things she bought in one go & even before getting married & divorced, she was concerned if she’ll have to return those gifts to him. The way Mahnoor seemed happy & content with everything that her boss had planned for them made me dislike her even more because more than him, she seemed to be in a hurry of getting married to him as she was definitely ecstatic about the flight that she had to catch. Seriously, I think I will run out of words while describing her character & I don’t think anything that she will go through will make me feel for her. Mahnoor’s character has started to irritate me I it will be harder to review her bits in the episodes to come!

Gaiti has won the elections & Mehtab has returned. His thoughts about education & power showed how our politicians only believe in ruling the people without empowering themselves with the education first. Gaiti is different but I am not sure if she’ll be able to abide by her principles under Mehtab’s supervision because obviously, Mehtab will treat Gaiti as just a face of his party but he will make sure that in the end, he is the one who does the decision making!

Haadi went to Uzma again like a loser. What was Haadi expecting? Everything will be fun & games & Mahnoor will come back to him & they will start living in some lala-land? Why was he so surprised that he was actually feeling a pain. I liked how just in one sentence Uzma told him what he should do. He claims to love Mahnoor with all his heart, so she told him to let his heart guide him the next time because it is his heart that is forcing him to put up with everything that Mahnoor is throwing at him & he doesn’t deserve any sympathy because he is responsible for putting himself in this situation. I must say, over the time I have developed a liking for Uzma’s character because she is a girl who has a character & more than that, has a control over her mind & heart.

Well, the episode ended at a perfect note. Mahnoor got what she deserved & I hope this is not the end of it. She needs a reality check & she needs a lot of it to wake up & smell the coffee that not everything revolves around her & she is not going to be the center of everyone’s universe. Haadi might be a loser but the others have some spine to save what belongs to them & not everyone is going to allow her to play with their lives. Waqar made the entry at the right time & I guess now Mahnoor will forget everything about Haadi & her love for him & will happily get married to Waqar, but I really hope it’s not the end of her sufferings!!! Hamza Ali Abbasi’s Facebook Account Deactivated

Hamza Ali Abbasi is an ardent advocate of freedom of speech and he doesn’t mince his words while sharing his views on various political, religious and social issues.

Hamza Ali Abbasi shared on Twitter that his Facebook account got deactivated just because he chose to speak about the Kashmir situation. He shared a snapshot to show that Facebook didn’t allow him to talk about the plight of Kashmiris. IMG_20160719_200241 IMG_20160719_200304 IMG_20160719_200740

This isn’t the first time that Facebook’s “community standards” stopped him from posting what didn’t sit well with them. Last year, Hamza Ali Abbasi’s status regarding the Charlie Hebdo attack was removed. The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg got involved and asked Justin Osofsky, the Vice President, to look into the matter. It was only then that Osofsky admitted it was a mistake to remove Hamza Abbasi’s status and apologized for the mistake.

Let’s see what happens this time.

The Lion King is cartoon royalty!

Trainspotting (1996)

Directed by Danny Boyle, starring Ewan McGregor, Ewen Bremner

Just. Watch. It.

Blue Jasmine (2013)

images-39

Written, directed by Woody Allen and starring Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett makes it all look so easy; she’s such a fine actor. Blue Jasmine is one of Allen’s best works.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004)

images-38

Directed by Michel Gondry and starring Jim Carrey Kate Winslet, Kirsten Dunst, Mark Ruffalo, Elijah Wood

It’s a strange thing … to watch a film based on an unreal concept that feels so close to home, so real. In the film, Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet are at their charming best.

Kramer vs. Kramer (1979)

images-37

Directed by Robert Benton and starring Dustin Hoffman and Meryl Streep

Personally, I enjoy watching the first works of artists. This is Meryl Streep’s first film, but since it’s the majesty herself, she was perfect even in her first film. Dustin Hoffman and the boy who played the child are also brilliant.

The Godfather (1972)

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and starring Marlon Brando and Al Pacino

It’s underrated. No, I’m serious. It is.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Directed by Quentin Tarantino and starring John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson

It is the coolest gangster film! The chemistry between the cast members is insane.

Silver Linings Playbook (2012)

images-26

Directed by David O. Russell and starring Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence

It’s so much more than just a rom-com. The direction and acting are flawless. Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper are perfect in it.

10 Things I Hate About You (1999)

Directed by Gil Junger, adapted from Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, starring Heath Ledger.

Yes. Please watch it. It’s one of the best teenybopper films. The writing is great, acting even better and it also has Heath Ledger in it.

Mann Mayal – Episode 26

The opening scene of this episode ‘shadi karo gay mujh se’  guaranteed that this episode was going to give all of us a lot to laugh about and just like always Mann Mayal delivered this time around too. Not much made sense and watching these top rated actors going along with this senseless script is no longer shocking but actually hilarious. Who did they think they were fooling?? Maya Ali’s acting gets worse with every passing episode especially when she is trying her best to prove that there never was and never will be another bechari like Mannu.

mannu1

The story of this play has gone back to being a love story! Mannu still loves Salahuddin – surprise surprise and Salahuddin claims he loved Mannu ever since he was a baby (bachpan??) Jeena was just a phase which has passed. Mannu was the flavor of the day today. Salahuddin’s parents went from being the moral police to the nicest people around. This sudden change in attitude was just plain ridiculous! Aunty who was doing everything in her power to make Mannu’s life hell feels more secure now that her husband assured her in the previous episode (not sure when) that Mannu and Salahuddin had no such intentions. The characters in this drama take a U-turn which is backed by the most childish reasons.

jeena

The reference to Beauty and The Beast was hilarious – was the beauty married and I don’t remember her having 2 kids and the story definitely wasn’t this twisted! Just like that everything is back to square one – Mannu and Salahuddin love each other and the only problem now is convincing Salahuddin’s parents – so everyone is requested to forget everything else that happened in the previous 10 episodes or so!

salahuddin

Jeena’s character never made sense right from day one but the way Jamil’s character has been changed into that of a desperate man who will leave his wife, kids and betray Salahuddin just to please Jeena is nonsensical. Someone who was practical and very intelligent has lost all his problem solving capabilities and can’t even see what is going on. How could these actors even go along with all this – that was all I was wondering while watching this episode. I expect anything from the writer now but didn’t expect all this from the director and the actors involved.

mannu

The scene in which Mannu sits down to pray for her father but ends up having a conversation with Salahuddin looked like an essay on Pyare Aba!!! Jeena and Jamil’s scenes were just plain disgusting.

jamil

How many of you watched this latest installment? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Promotion Of Film Janaan

0

Filmmakers attach a great deal of importance to the promotion of their films. The most successfully (and enthusiastically) promoted Pakistani film was definitely Ho Mann Jahan – the Shakar Wandaan dubsmashes were everywhereeee.

Janan is all set to release on September 13 on the occasion of Eid ul Azha. With less than two months left before the release of the much anticipated film, it’s time to promote the film. Luckily for team Janaan, the film is co-produced by Munir Hassan who is behind the popular food franchise, Pepe’s Piri Piri Group which happens to be a sponsor of the Arjit Singh shows in the UK.

Recently, Armeena Khan and Bilal Ashraf were seen promoting their upcoming film at Arjit Singh’s concert.

The film will be released by ARY Films in Pakistan and B4U Pictures internationally.

Interview With Zainab Qayyum

0

Zainab Qayyum, better known as ZQ, is a Pakistani model, host and actress. She has a vivacious personality. In a recent interview with Mag The Weekly, she talked about her personal life, career and future plans.

Talking about his childhood, ‘‘I had a super, shiny, happy, secure childhood. I loved playing netball, tennis and swimming, oonch neech, baraf paani – the list of my childhood travails is endless.”

ZQ speaks highly of her mother. ‘‘My dad passed away when I was nine, so it’s been my mom and I ever since. She is my best friend, toughest critic and anchor. In fact when I decided that I wanted to model at the age of 17 my mom had only one condition and that was to maintain my grades.I dedicated my Award for Best Model that I won in 2004 to my mom.”

Zainab20Qayyum2023-46-1442942210

Talking about her entry into the world of fashion and modelling, “It’s a typical ugly duckling/ fairytale kind of story. In 1991, Vinny (Vaneeza Ahmed) asked me to help backstage for her fashion show; she ran short of models and told me I would go on the ramp. Neelofer Shahid (Meeras) whose daughter was my college friend, saw me at the show and asked me to do my very first shoot for Visage with Ather Shahzad.” She retired at the age of 33 and that too at the peak of her career but she is happy that she made the right decision at the time.

She hosted the show, Maachis on HUM TV. “As a host, after Maachis, I still haven’t gotten the perfect talk show I would like to take on. My dream is to host one which is a combo of Ellen DeGeneres and Aamir Khan’s shows.”

zainab-qayyum-4-582

ZQ got married at the peak of her career but it didn’t work out. ”It’s an open fact that it didn’t work out. As two adults we divorced amicably and to date are still good friends. What I did learn from the experience is that the grass will always be greener on the other side. Singles die to get married while the married crave the freedom which the singles have. But now if it’s meant to happen again, it will not be an impulsive act as before.”

ZQ has Masters degree in English Literature and she is passionate about becoming a writer. She shared that she has finished writing her debut novel. More power to her!

Kathputli – Episode 06!

Ohkay so, surprisingly, even though I know the theme of the drama is quite depressing, I really like how so far the director has treated it & more than that, I like how the writer has made sure that the message is conveyed through. The pace of the drama has been quite good so far & even the preview of the next episode promised a lot but I am dreading that they will start taking things way too slowly once the 10th episode mark will be crossed. I hope the director ends it just as intelligently as he has tackled this script so far & more than that at a perfect time as well.

Even though Ahad’s friend didn’t want to get involved in such a complicated matter, he indirectly helped Ahad & Mehru more than they could have thought of. Zaid brought in Sonia, a lawyer & a social activist who ran an NGO & who decided to bring Ahad & Mehru out of their misery because she knew that the police was just making a mountain out of molehill. At first, when Ahad’s friend Zaid told him to lie about everything, I had my doubts about Sonia that she might be one of those who only believed in helping people in only those cases where things & the truth were tweaked according to her taste because Zaid made sure Ahad lied & also when Sonia came in contact with Mehru, she chose not to believe her side of the story because it wasn’t as colorful as she would’ve liked it to be, but as the episode progressed my doubts subsided because Sonia dealt with this entire matter logically & made it clear that she only wanted to help Ahad & Mehru.

Ehtasham & Hassam are both despicable. I would’ve liked if at least one of the brothers had a soft spot in their hearts for Mehru but both of them are the same where they just wanted to get rid of Mehru by hook or by crook. Ehtashaam knows his brother a little too well, that’s why he didn’t keep a secret & told him everything that he had actually planned for Mehru, where he just wanted to get over with the funeral rites & then wanted to kill her to turn her lie into a reality. It was actually quite disgusting how Ehtashaam thought that Mehru was is the only one who has to bear the burden of family’s dignity & didn’t even think for a second that his sister was in jail, among so many unknown men who could actually harass & violate her. (elcpinellas.org) Ehtasham’s concept of dignity & respect are quite twisted because what he says at one hand ends up contradicting what he does at the other. Ehtasham made a deal with the policeman that he will bring Mehru & Ahad out of jail to some remote area where Ehtasham will kill both of them himself, so much for dignity & pride, eh! It was actually quite sad to see that even Hassam was perfectly fine with the idea of his sister’s death like that, without even thinking for a second that she could actually be innocent & the police might’ve mistook the entire situation.

Sonia played her part really well & she knew that the police’s version of Mehru & Ahad’s story wasn’t accurate & she also knew that the police inspector might’ve made a pact with Mehru’s family as the way he was dealing with this case off the record wasn’t justified & showed exactly what he was being told to do by someone else. When Sonia saw that the police inspector didn’t want things to go to court, that is when she understood the entire game that was being played against Mehru & Ahad as then could foresee what their fate could be. It was good that Saira came to Mehru’s rescue & met the right person at a right time because she ended up saving Mehru’s life. It is actually nice to see that there’s someone at least who thinks rationally & doesn’t mind taking a step in the right direction against all the odds. Even though Mehru didn’t want to go with Sonia but when she heard Saira’s name, she knew that she was in right hands & now things might be alright.

Overall, it was a good episode because all the things that the writer wanted to show are being conveyed properly without glorifying the situation & without commercializing it too. Throughout the episode, I liked how things were kept realistic & relatively simple otherwise if it wasn’t depicted like that, we wouldn’t have felt the misery of Mehru especially. I am glad that the director chose to give such a script a right treatment because there’s a message in it that needs to be conveyed. I just hope that the drama progresses with the same pace & ends at the right time because the dragging will only compromise the purpose of this drama & might as well defeat that purpose too. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Kathputli.

Mor Mahal – Episode 11!

0

Mor Mahal is a story that exemplifies how things roll & get ruined just on the basis of communication gap. Ever since the drama has begun, there’s everything that happens between the characters except communication & this is what happened in this episode too. I hate to say but this drama is turning out to be a disappointment with each passing episode because there’s no substance in the characters nor the situations.

I actually giggled when I saw Asif Jahan dressed appropriate for a fancy dress competition, it showed that he put in a lot of effort & a lot of thought went into his looks & appearance whereas he forgot that he had a stolen baby to take care of too. I think the kidnapping of Jamshed hasn’t been tackled properly because Asif Jahan made a promise to Surraiya that he would do everything to find him & ever since, he has worried about everything but Jamshed. It was only Surraiya who took things in her hands & protested, blaming Badshah Begum & Farrukh Zaad for the kidnapping of her son. Chalo, at least there was someone who was worried about that little fellow otherwise, the one who should actually be worried for him is too busy dressing up!!!

Dilawar Khan died, boo hoo, but are we supposed to feel for him as much as Asif Jahan felt because he was just introduced as an adviser to him, but seeing how the entire episode got dedicated to him left me confused. All I know is that no one in Asif Jahan’s family held a high opinion of Dilawar Khan, so not really sure if he deserved this much coverage. Also, I didn’t feel much for him because all this while, seeing Asif Jahan crying buckets for Dilawar seemed distasteful, especially because there were no efforts being made by him to find Jamshed, his new born that was kidnapped probably weeks ago, which should’ve been his priority but seems like Asif Jahan suffers from short term memory loss! I feel the chronology of the events isn’t right in Mor Mahal!!!

Taimur returned victorious, where Farrukh Zaad was ecstatic, Badshah Begum felt defeated. I hated the way Badshah Begum spoke about Taimur’s death, just because Akhtari reminded her that if Taimur becomes the ruler, Farrukh Zaad will have an upper hand over her. I guess Badshah Begum needs to understand that everything has a certain time limit & a date of expiry, it’s not like she is going to live forever, that she wishes to maintain her status by wishing to eliminate Taimur from everyone’s life. Also, being a mother of Asif Jahan, she has been a mother of the ruler for quite some time now, so, she should back out & let Farrukh Zaad taste her son’s success, what’s the point of waging a war against her own flesh & blood & hating him so much only because of the fact that she’s not on good terms with her daughter in law.

I actually find it funny that a man of Asif Jahan’s stature turns into bheegi billi in front of the ladies of his house & gets treated worse. Asif Jahan said that the ladies have no say in the matters of the state but it doesn’t seem to be that case, because when Taimur was fighting a battle with Shujat, both Badshah Begum & Farrukh Zaad played their part too where the former told Dilawar to kill Taimur & the latter told her brother to swoop in to protect her son. Also, Asif Jahan vigilantly pays heed to Shahista’s advises too, so when does his brain work or when does he put it to good use because seems like he forgets that he’s the ruler & he has the authority over everything!

Like I said in the last review, I will say that again, the communication gap forced Asif Jahan to get Taimur arrested because he assumed that it was Taimur who killed Dilawar Khan & then the same communication gap created a rift between him & his wife too. I actually didn’t think that Asif Jahan will be so insecure & will be such a coward that just one win by his son will make him dubious of his intentions & will force him to question his son’s loyalty. Just because Asif Jahan heard a few guys say that Taimur might end up killing him for the sake of throne, he got him arrested & smirked at his decision thinking that he scored a big win against his wife & his son!?!?! LOL!

Anyways, not sure what to expect because the preview of the next episode once again told that the communication gap will be stronger & will once again play a part in this drama. Looks like Akhtari will finally find out that Banki is posing to be Meher Bano, I actually would like to see how Badshah Begum will realize that it was her laziness that allowed all that to happen right under her nose as she didn’t bother visiting her favorite bahu once in all these months! Also, I must say that even though I like all the sets, I feel they needed more variety for filming this drama as it looks like all the characters keep to & froing within 2 – 3 rooms which makes everything looks tedious & yes, I do understand that they have tried to keep things realistic by showing us the natural & dull lighting to give feel of that era but please, bright karain isay, bright karainnnn!!!! Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mor Mahal.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Udaari – Episode 15

This episode was thoroughly refreshing and uplifting. It also proved that Zebu’s story is just one part of this whole story, it is the part of course that ends up impacting the viewers more than any other but at the same time the other tracks of the story keep your interest alive as well, add entertainment value to the drama and keep this drama from getting too dark and depressing. This episode focused more on Sajida and Meeran’s track than that of Zebu. Two months after Sajida (now Tahira) arrived in Lahore, she decided she needed to do something to earn a living so that she could be financially independent. This was a very important message for all those women out there who think that once they have been through the worse they cannot start afresh. Sajida put her talent to good use with the help of Kashf Foundation. The way Kashf Foundation helped Sajida sends a ray or hope for many women who are talented but don’t have the finances to start something on their own. Sajida had the option of living with Sheedan without doing anything on her own but she chose not to live like that. It was heartening to see Sajida grow. At the same time it was shown that Sajida and Zebu still haven’t forgotten what happened and they carry the scars with them. Zebu might have started school and she is going on with life as usual but it will take her much longer to heal internally. Although I wanted the story and this episode in particular to be more about Zebu but after the previous episode which was terribly upsetting, it was to good to watch an episode which did not focus on Zebu’s misery. I am very sure that this issue will be addressed in detail in the upcoming episodes but this episode needed to be a little less depressing so that it doesn’t scare away the viewers who do not want to get sleepless nights after watching every episode of this drama.

udari

My favorite part of this episode had to be Meeran and Arsh’s track. This particular track was covered brilliantly. Arsh clearly feels more for Meeran than he is willing to admit just yet. Meeran on the other hand just like Zebu hasn’t really moved on. One chance meeting was all it took to take Meeran back to her past. Her meeting with Illyas was very meaningful. Firstly, it went to show that she was still hurting inside, she had not forgotten the way she was insulted by this man and how he backed out of the relationship because he did not think she was worth taking a stand for. Meeran told Illyas confidently that he had done her a favor by leaving her but at the same time it seemed like this wasn’t really what she wanted from life. Sometimes fate drives people to achieve what they have never dreamed of getting but very often it is something they do because they have to and not because they wanted to. Meeran is blessed in more ways than one but is she really happy? She has attached her life to her goals which means that Illyas hurt her so much that she still does not have the courage to start a new relationship like the one he had with him again. Also, when Meeran went looking for a car, her conversation with Arsh went to show how grounded she still was. She has gained popularity and had friends who were rich but she hadn’t forgotten who she really was. I think this is the major reason why someone like Arsh fell for Meeran otherwise his big ego wouldn’t have allowed him to fall for her had she not considered him superior to her in some way. Although Arsh has many positive qualities and he is going out of his way to help Meeran but he does have an inflated ego which needs reassurance every now and then, Meeran gives him just that. Urwa Hocane has been outstanding in this character; it is not an easy character to play but she has convinced the viewers that she was meant to play this role. Her acting was especially impressive when she told Illyas how he had helped her in a way. Her expressions said much more than the dialogues she spoke; she was hurt but she was not going to give this man another chance to hurt him. Illyas did not mention Imtiaz and it did not seem odd because he wanted to make good use of this opportunity to convince Meeran that he still loved her.

udari

The person responsible for giving all these actors a makeover also deserves tons of credit for making them look exactly like the characters they are playing. The contrast between their personalities are even more obvious because of these makeovers. Also, all the actors who are playing the paindus here are simply mind blowing. Someone like Sammiya Mumtaz hasn’t even once uttered a single line in her every day accent and Bushra Ansari has nailed her character every step of the way. These scenarios and dialogues wouldn’t have had such an impact if these actors did not look and act like they have lived in the village all their lives. The credit for this of course goes to the director as well for extracting such amazing performances out of these actors.

The relationship between all the characters in Sheedan’s house and the one they have with Milli and her family is another part of this drama which basically goes to show that while there are monsters like Imtiaz in this world, there are also many others who will love you and support you. It is truly refreshing to watch a drama with so many strong women who have their weak moments but they know how to pull themselves together and focus on things that truly matter. Meeran and Sajida both are hurting inside but that does not stop them from being very strong women who are actually doing a really good job of proving that women can make something out of their lives even with a painful past and without a man by their side. Arsh, Milli and her mother also send out a very important message to all those affluent people out there; there are so many ways in which such people can help people who are less fortunate than them and turn their lives around.

The preview of the next episode showed Arsh revealing his true feelings for Meeran and it looks like once again Meeran’s past will come to haunt her. Do Meeran and Arsh have a future together?

How many of you watched this latest episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Alyy Khan’s Interview

0

Alyy Khan is one of the most polished actors because he has worked in Bollywood, Hollywood and of course, in Pakistani entertainment industry. In a recent interview with Mag The Weekly, Alyy Khan talked about his childhood, career and personal life.

Alyy Khan was inspired by his drama teacher, He grew up in cities which share the same coastline – Karachi and Mumbai. “I was in Grade 5 or 6 when Hema Devi, was hired as a drama teacher, who later became my guru. She must’ve seen a spark in me as she asked me if I would like to join her professional theatre group, the Hema Kalakendra school, which ran all year round outside of school.”

55428dc9d8b1f

When asked about what Hollywood and Bollywood mean to him, Alyy Khan put it quite simply, ”Places to make money. I can’t be more cynical and boring but that’s the truth, they’re a means to an end.” These two entertainment industries are considered superior to the Pakistani entertainment industry but Alyy Khan doesn’t believe in that. “The perception is they’re better than us but the reality is questionable. What qualifies better? Better at management? Yes, they’re more organized, but that’s not the be-all and end-all. Better actors? Yes, but I’m not saying our actors are bad. Coming to narratives, yes, better screenplay, but that’s only Hollywood. Is the Emirates A380 any better than PIA’s 777? Both fly to their destinations.”

Even though he has worked in films like Don 2 and A Mighty Heart, he found himself gravitate towards Pakistan. Why? “Jagjit Singh in PIA got me here professionally, but psychologically, because I was born here. Personally, I feel great potential in this country.”

55428dca5fd60

Currently we can see him in drama serial Pakeeza on HUM TV where he plays an abusive and deplorable husband. For the experienced actor, this was the by far the most challenging role for him to essay. “I couldn’t convince myself that a person living like that socially can behave that way, so there was a great dichotomy which I had to struggle with and I had long chats with my wife after which I decided to go for it. Misbah Khalid wanted it to be aggressive. Being a dad, I have to feed two kids so I decided if I do it, it’ll be the best bad guy anyone has ever played.”

495209_1.1

What is he up to these days? Alyy Khan said that he is trying to ‘reinvent himself”. ”I get bored of myself after a couple of years and feel the need to remould my personality for that’s the demand of my loved ones. They think I sometimes do not come across as a very nice person even though in my heart of hearts I think I’m a very gentle and caring person.”

The spelling of his name has always confused me, and this is what he had to say about it: Mum had finished reading Doctor Zhivago or some other Russian book which is why the ‘y’ replaced an ‘i’.

During a press conference at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club on Friday, director, producer and actor Jamal Shah shared some details about his directorial debut, Revenge of the Worthless.

The film is based on Swat insurgency and ordeals and struggle of the people hit by terrorism. It is written and directed by Jamal Shah and he also plays one of the main leads. It is produced by Amna Shah.

Initially, he wanted to film a documentary on the Swat situation in 2009, but later he realized that a feature film should shed light on this issue. “It’s my first film and I have shot it on original locations.”

5789bdfbce3c5

“For me, the film was a big challenge not only due to its content but the locations as they were difficult to access.”

Veteran actors Firdaus Jamal and Ayub Khoso essay the roles of militants that were part of the Tehreek-e-Taliban in Swat valley.  Due to the subject matter, the corporate sector didn’t sponsor this film.

Jamal Shah claimed that his film is an objective, balanced account, having versions of both the Taliban as well as the other side. He said the ISPR had provided him help with the logistics. The film is expected to come out on July 22.

Qandeel Baloch’s Brother Confesses – Video

Qandeel Baloch’s murder mystery has been solved in less than 24 hours. The parents of the model and singer already told the media that her brother killed her because he considered her as a threat to family’s honour but the brother was missing so there were many theories circulating in the media. Qandeel Baloch’s brother has confessed to the crime when he was caught by the police. This video in which he confesses to the crime indicates that he is not remorseful. He said that he gave Qandeel sleeping pills and then he strangled her. He also said that it has been 2 days since he murdered her. In this brief video when the reporter asked him if he was ashamed of what he had done, he very confidently told them that he wasn’t because he was a Baloch.

Sadly, in most such cases the murderers think that they have done the right thing by killing a woman of their family, same is the case here.

Watch the video here:

In this other video he also says that after Qandeel Baloch was involved in Mufti Qavi controversy she got more coverage from the media which caused more problems for his family. The police officer present there also confirmed that this was the main reason. The criminal refused to accept that there was any other reason involved in this murder.

The trailer of Zindagi Kitni Haseen Hai was pretty intense. After watching the trailer, it doesn’t seem like the film is oozing with positivity, contrary to what the title suggests. Feroz Khan also affirmed that there are some fun bits here and there, but it is essentially a serious film. He urges his fans to watch the film when it comes out and decide for themselves.

Dil Lagi – Episode 17

I have always enjoyed the dialogues and the conversations in this play especially the ones between Anmol and Mohid, this episode had plenty of those meaningful conversations therefore it was a complete winner for me. Mohid deserves to be loved and cherished – something that is becoming more apparent with every passing episode. It is refreshing to watch a drama in which the viewers get to side with the hero for a change without any reservations. Anmol and Zulekha’s conversation about her double standards was also on point; it was written and shot flawlessly. For a second it seemed like Zulekha might hit Anmol but I am so glad that it didn’t go that way. In fact it seemed like Zulekha did pay heed to what Anmol said to her but Sabiha’s frame of mind at that given moment was completely different therefore she didn’t have a reason to doubt what she was planning to do. This episode was jam packed with scenes which you want to watch over and over again because every scene was picture perfect; beautifully written, directed perfectly and the chemistry between all these actors is simply mind blowing. My favorite scene from tonight’s episode had to be the one in which Mohid walks in the jewelry shop when Anmol is selling her jewelry. It was very well written and it was directed so well that it did not look like a scene from a drama at all but a real moment captured on lens. It was one of those very few scenes between Mohid and Anmol which every woman who has a difficulty asking her husband for money would have been able to relate to especially because in the end Anmol decided to take money from Mohid.

dillagi

In this episode as well Anmol was too busy hating Mohid to see his good points but there were at least three instances when she did look surprised with what she had discovered about her husband. She seemed to ‘like’ Mohid for a few seconds maybe when he gave her the ATM card without asking any questions and also when Sabiha told her what he had promised and how he felt about his mother, Anmol seemed to be slightly surprised. Also, I loved the way the confrontation between Anmol and Zulekha ended – indeed Zulekha might have tons of flaws but she has most certainly brought up a son who will never hit a woman. There was a good reason why Anmol had to end the argument here. When the driver however told her that Mohid paid the dues of his children’s schools, she did not give it a second thought.

Mohid once again is convinced that he is fighting a lost battle. He has given up therefore it is easier for him to come into terms with what he thinks is true. Once again Mohid is willing to leave Anmol for Fareed, he also tried to tell her that in hidden words but in the next episode he will ask her directly. The issues between Mohid and Anmol remain the same. Also, like all the previous episode their roles did not change either but watching them interact and those meaningful discussions is always a treat. The chemistry between Hamayun Saeed and Mehwish Hayat and the way these scenes have been shot make them extra special. I was however not too happy about the fact that Mohid’s ‘haram ki kamai’ misunderstanding was not cleared in this episode. There was a perfect opportunity for Mohid to tell Anmol what exactly he did but he didn’t say much. Anmol is desperate to get Fareed out of her life –  I am waiting to see how this particular track unravels. Will it create even more misunderstandings between Mohid and Anmol? Dastagir and Mishal’s tracks is sweet, they got slightly less screen time in tonight’s episode but it was good to see Dastagir doing something practical to please Mishal. It was also interesting to watch Mishal pretend like she didn’t care when she really does want him in her life.

dillagi2

Sabiha and Fazal’s track finally moved forward in this episode. Afzal has been unable to muster up the courage to approach Zulekha or Mohid but he is trying and Sabiha knows it. I love how Zulekha’s dialogues have been written and the way Saba Hameed has brought this character to life on screen. The preview of the next episode suggested that there might be some major developments in this track in the next episode.

Tonight’s episode was the kind of episode you can watch over and over again. Mehwish Hayat and Hamayun Saeed’s chemistry, the beautiful dialogues written by Faiza Iftikhar, Nadeem Baig’s direction and the great production values make Dil Lagi a must watch play. The beautiful colors in the background and attention to the tiniest details make every scene very well-crafted.

How many of you watched tonight’s episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it?

Shocking Hateful Reactions to Qandeel Baloch’s Murder

0

Qandeel Baloch got all kinds of hateful reactions from people when she was alive but after the way she was killed it is expected that people will now stop judging her and let her rest in peace. Many tweets however show something entirely different. There are some people who are finding it impossible to stop judging Qandeel Baloch even now. They are saying that she deserve to be killed like this. There are people who are justifying this murder saying that her brother did the right thing. Some people are also quoting what Mufti Qavi said about this being a warning for girls who might think about maligning the name of someone who is a religious scholar. These hateful comments show that some people are so heartless that they even support something like murder.

Celebrities React To Qandeel Baloch’s Murder

0

Qandeel Baloch’s murder has been a very shocking and tragic incident which has proved that there is very little tolerance in the Pakistani society for people who view the world in a different way. Qandeel Baloch was very well known for her boldness. Even though many celebrities did not show their support for her when she was alive but they were very open in protesting against her murder. Social media is filled with statements from celebrities who are enraged after hearing this shocking news. The rate of honour killings is increasing with every passing year. Examples like these also give Pakistan a negative image in the international community. Celebrities feel threatened more than ever now because whenever a celebrity has asked for security from the government, the government has never given them the security they need and the end result is what happened to Qandeel today. Some people are even more shocked because an outsider did not kill Qandeel but it was her own brother who took her life. Qandeel Baloch has been trending on twitter, the world is talking about her because most people believe she was killed in cold blood. A lot of celebrities are holding the media responsible too.

Be Aib – Upcoming Drama On Urdu 1

0

Be Aib is an upcoming drama on Urdu 1. The drama boasts a star cast including Samina Peerzada, Alishba Yusuf, Noor Hassan, Sheheryar Zaidi among others.

After watching the promos, I gather that the drama is essentially about a woman’s obsession with perfection or the very idea of perfection. Samina Peerzada plays a perfectionist and the people around her – especially her daughter – suffer because of her controlling nature. Alishba Yusuf plays her daughter. Alishba Yusuf is a wonderful actress and it would be nice to see her alongside a phenomenal actress like Samina Peerzada.

”It is not easy being married to an actor.” – Hira Mani

When it comes to the evergreen star couples of the industry, a few come to mind, and one of them is the couple of Hira and Mani. There was never any doubt about the fact that Hira Mani is an extremely talented host, but after watching Preet Na Kariyo Koi on HUM TV, viewers are convinced that the girl can act, too!

In a recent interview with Mag The Weekly, Hira opened up about her personal life, hosting and acting career.

Hira revealed that although the first couple of years were a little tough, married life has treated her well. ”Initially, I used to fight with Mani a lot and would get suspicious even if he would be working with a female co-star. You have to handle a lot of responsibilities too; media personalities are self-obsessed so you have to cater to their needs accordingly and ignore yourself to an extent in the process. This is why marriages in the industry don’t often last for very long, either of the spouse is unable to adjust. It is not easy being married to an actor.”

thum_4

Hosting is her first love. ”I love doing live shows as opposed to recorded shows because I am very spontaneous. People always compliment my personality when they meet me. Only hosting can give you that kind of recognition.”

Critics and viewers raved about her performance in Preet Na Kariyo Koi where she played a female politician and appeared alongside Ahsan Khan. ”An actress never wants to do the character of an old person in her debut project, she would always want to do something glamourous. Not everyone can play a female politician, but for me it was especially challenging because I have a very bubbly personality and had not done any serious kind of a role previously.I find serious roles to be much easier to perform than comic roles. I played a young girl, a middle-aged woman and an old woman. As a performer, I feed on that kind of variation.”

Preet Na Kariyo Koi

With the rise of Pakistani cinema, a lot of TV actors are leaning towards films. Hira confessed that she would love to do a film as long as the script is satisfying. ”I would want the movie to include romance, dance and songs. Many people don’t know that I can dance well also. There just has to be a limit to everything; there is a fine line between class and cheapness that many do not understand.” Hira has been offered a Bollywood movie but she made clear that she is not dying to go to Bollywood.

Hira can sing, too! ”Singing is my passion. I plan to release a song with a video by next year. I have been in talks with a few singers and composers over the matter.”

In Pakistan, the celebrities she looks up to are Samina Peerzada and Sania Saeed.

Tum Yaad Aye – Episodes 20-23

There is something about this play that when you sit down to watch it, you do not feel any scene is being dragged and each episode keeps the viewers’ interest alive. The storyline, although nothing extraordinary yet is different and the acting of the main leads and the supporting characters alike draws you in.

Zainy’s dramatic departure from the house she grew up left everyone dealing with different emotions. Abba disappointed and angry, Nigar Apa outraged, Sherry broken hearted and Mehtaab devastated. Whereas in Zainy’s susraal, Phuppo is disapproving of how events played out and we see later Ahmer also blaming Zainy for her rash behaviour. It does not take long for Zainy to start missing her family and realizing life is not a bed of roses. Taayi has become the typical evil saas trying to cause trouble and Ahmer is his usual greedy immature self. I spent the past four episodes and well even the episodes before that really trying to gauge what Ahmer and Co feel for Zainy and I am still confused but will touch upon that later in this review.

We see Zainy struggling to adapt to changes in Ahmer’s personality and making ends meet. She realizes she has hurt her family’s feelings but Yusuf Kamdar seems to want nothing to do with her. She seems to be torn between feeling righteous to have left behind her father’s ‘murderers’ and also missing her mother for when Mehtaab has her books delivered to her and later the provident fund cheque sent her reaction upon checking the envelope to see if there is a letter inside or a glimpse of her mother as she drives away made me feel for her. However, before Mehtaab sends the cheque Ahmer starts feeling that he should begin to make amends with Zainy’s family so that they welcome her and extend financial support which basically means financial support for Ahmer. I know Ahmer is jobless, greedy and immature but I am left wondering is that why he married her then – eyeing Yusuf Kamdar’s wealth?! I would not be surprised if that were the case.

PIC1

Anyways, Novera – the ever loyal,constantly- in -Zainy’s- face -and -house friend, who could not tell Zainy enough how lucky she was, has managed to wrap the formidable Nigar Apa round her little finger. I have to say – I really do not like Novera’s character. Novera seems to be sitting on her high horse judging Zainy from behind her hijab and holier than thou attitude and while I could be alright with that for Zainy truly has pulled quite a crazy act and Novera apparently was the sensible, obedient daughter – but her little antic of gloating over the wedding card in front of Zainy and telling her that her family despises her now seems to be in bad taste. I am never sure what these girls aim to achieve when they desperately want to get married to a man who is very clearly deeply in love with another woman. Nevertheless, Novera is Mrs Sherry now and Nigar Apa feeling she has done the right thing for her brother heads back to Canada.

I am glad Yusuf does not blame Mehtaab for Zainy’s behaviour. Our dramas do the whole ‘tumhari aulaad ki harkaatein’ and ‘tumhari tarbiyat’ to death and it was really nice to see Yusuf not go down that road. He is angry at Zainy but I feel his anger is justified for he has really treated her as his own and she basically spat in his face and walked out. I kept thinking Mehtaab was a bit silly to try the Sherry-Zainy idea out knowing very well how this could impact the whole household if it went wrong which it did in the end. But then I suppose she knew, or well thought she knew Zainy and Sherry very well and believed it would be the perfect match. I felt for Mehtaab now and Sania Saeed’s portrayal of a broken, depressed woman is so spot on. Especially during the scenes when Nigar minces no words in her ‘I told you so’ rants and Mehtaab says nothing in her own defense.

Turns out Mehtaab has cancer – and it has now reached its final stages. In the earlier episodes when Mehtaab approached Sherry about Zainy and with the animosity of sorts between her and Nigar, I had thought that while Mehtaab did not have anything against Sherry or Nigar she also did not have any emotional attachment with either. But I found I was wrong during the scenes between Sherry and Mehtaab after Zainy’s ‘love story’ with Ahmer begins and my thoughts were further confirmed now also when Sherry takes care of Mehtaab, coaxing her to eat and not be depressed and how she calls him baitaay. Even though he calls her baji she was a mother figure to him and the scene when Sherry confronts Mehtaab about her illness was done so emotionally it made me cry. Agha Ali acted so well, his tears seemed like those of a child realizing he is about to lose his mother.

Mehtaab’s death was an unexpected twist in the story. I am glad though that Zainy was able to go see her mother. Her last words to her daughter seem to prove her innocence when she says ‘jab aap ko mera sach pata chalay tau khud par kaabu rakhyay ga’.  I really want to know now what Mehtaab’s true story is. The flashbacks Phuppo has and the conversations Phuppo and Taayi have shown a negative side to Mehtaab but Mehtaabs character itself and her last words beg to paint a different picture. Also Naani’s conversation and then handing Mehtaab’s diary to Zainy will probably finally tell us what the truth is. I could not believe Ahmer was not allowing Zainy to go see her dead mother’s face one last time. Taayi has been mostly a negative character, yet she too seemed moved by Zainy’s despair and implored Ahmer to let her go.

Zainy seems to be drifting from home to college to umm, even Hyderabad. Although her attitude seems less than sensible I can almost relate to how she is feeling lost now. She is determined to know her mother’s true story now and is trying to find answers from any place possible. The highlight of this latest episode for me had to be how Yusuf Kamdar told off Mehtaab’s brother and said he would come bring his daughter home. This man has truly proven (so far at least) that he had always believed Zainy to be his own. Like he would get angry with Nigar, he was angry with Zainy as would any father have been but when he realized she needed help and especially with Mehtaab gone and her last words haunting him, Abba steps up and goes to Hyderabad to bring back Zainy.

Sherry’s axing the tree seemed a bit extreme but then I suppose that is his personality. An introverted, emotional but not openly so kind of person, he does not know how to deal with or express his grief and anger and is taking it out on a (poor) tree. There is one thing I keep noticing – Zainy wants to reach out to Sherry but she keeps referring to him as bhai and I feel for her that she has always loved and known him as a brother, the one person who shared the same ‘parents’ and love and security that she had known and she wants to be able to share her grief with him. Sherry torn between his own grief and anger seemingly wants nothing to do with Zainy.

I have come to the conclusion so far that Ahmer and Co are greedy and must have some underlying agenda of their own especially Ahmer and Taayi such as Yusuf’s wealth but I do not believe they hate Zainy or wish anything bad on her. They seemed visibly shaken by Mehtaab’s death and there was no gloating or mean comments over her death as you often see with the evil in laws in dramas. Ahmer seems to care for Zainy in his own twisted way but I am still unsure whether he would feel the same if Zainy did not also seem to be a sonay ka anda. Zainy feels she has suffered enough for her doings and should be forgiven by all and while I agree she has been ungrateful, reckless and brought all this upon herself, a part of me hopes that she realizes how rash and thoughtless she has been and is able to break free of Ahmer and focus on making a life for herself again with Yusuf’s support – if only for Mehtaab’s sake.

I would assume that Yusuf will now take Zainy under his wing and give her some security again but will she leave Ahmer? For till now he has not done anything which is reason enough for her to stop loving him and leave him. Or will he show a different side to his character which will make her leave him. Novera seems to have only one mission in life and in her bubble of piety and self righteousness she believes she is justified and that is to keep Zainy away from the house she grew up in so she may not get close to Sherry again. Even if Sherry does not end up with Zainy, I really do not want to see with him Novera.

I know 23 episodes have gone by but I am still enjoying this drama. I do believe however that it should be wrapped up within the next few episodes once Mehtaab’s story has been disclosed. I can not say I will miss Mehtaab’s character immensely for although Sania Saeed has done a good job as Mehtaab, her character did not have that much of an impact. I thoroughly enjoyed Nadeem’s acting as the man stepping up to take care of Zainy and to honor his dead wife’s last wish. Agha Ali, Seher Afzal and Munib Butt have all portrayed their characters perfectly and I love the chemistry between these three especially in the graveyard scene when not a word was uttered but yet so much was said. I am curious to see how the writer intends to end this drama – whether Zainy will be forgiven when she repents and will end up with Sherry or she will carry on along the road to self destruction although I do find that unlikely since Yusuf Kamdar has so determinedly stepped in to rescue her.

Have you all enjoyed these episodes as much as I have? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Naml Review – Episode 23 & 24

Firstly, sorry for the late review of this novel.Secondly, would try my best to cover everything which speedily happened in these episodes…

The title of the 23rd episode of Naml was “Morchaal” meaning “House of Ants” so this pin points at the very basic theme of the episode which will be more of Yusuf’s family.

Woww..just woww.. what an introductory poetry!

وہ ایک فقرہ خود کو سنانے کے لیے ڈھونڈو
پھر اس لاین کو مضبوطی سے تھام لو
اور پھر اس کی مدد سے خود کو تاریک اندھیروں سے باہر کھینچ نکالو

Nemrah Ahmed beautifully managed to portray the struggle of Haneen. Mainly it is related to Haneen but somehow everyone in this novel is deeply engulfed in darkness.

Faris is such a secret keeper, the sweet trifle between Haneen and Faris illustrated their love and harmony as a family. The episode has remarkable treasures and some mysteries were unfolded in an apt way and that’s the style of our beloved writer.

Going inside the Morchaal ..let’s get in their house and feel the fear, agony despair and hope in our Ants ?

• Saadi wants justice through court and Yusuf’s are not satisfied with thi, yet they support Saadi. Its not a piece of cake when you have Hashim as your opponent.

• Haneen if truth be told is gradually collecting her broken pieces and redeeming herself that could be effortlessly seen in conversation with Zumar. “ Aap srf shadeed halaath main roti hain, main shadeed halaath main aage ka sochti hun” thumbs up for hanna.

• The reason behind Naushervan’s attempt to kill Saadi was jealousy and the phone call with Zumar categorized this disease in three steps and definitely Naushervan was in the final stage where harming the person physically satisfies this disease. It was true wisdom.

• Colonel Khawar was back with a bang but hopefully Faris turned out to be different than a mere killer and Zumar was the one to rescue our Mamun , Welldone Zumar ??

• Spouses are one other’s mirror and how you start complimenting and appreciating the good things in your partner they will do it more for you. Another great message by giving a glimpse of the cute life of Faris and Zartaasha.

• Ha..Ha…Ha…Here comes Hashim proposing Aabi no actually ordering her to marry him ..how can such a person who destroyed many people’s life can even think of his own happiness….phew!! Good for him because he will be crushed when he would know that Aabi is head over heels in love with Faris.

The Turning Point of The Episode:

The conversation between Faris and Hashim and the hidden meanings which were unfolded afterwards were mind boggling.
At first I thought Hashim is guilty and he is ready to face the consequences of his dreadful evilest acts but No..No..No …Once a devil is always a devil..
No hope for you Hashim Kardaar and I was shocked to know what their real conversation meant when he was practicing Judo Karate on Naushervan.
Faris and Hashim they know each-other well and what their hidden agendas are! And waqayi Hashim acha aadmi nahi hai par wo azeem aadmi hai..:/

Pace

The pace of the episode was nearly perfect. It covered everything and it was a pretty fast episode with only Saadi’s track missing.

Tootay Taaray Jaisa Dil

Haaye!!! Once again a mesmerizing poetry, the Ba-zauq shayeri initially diverting our attention from Sun to the moon and then to the stars…Very deep! They have added good piece of literature.
So the title suggested that it would be Saadi’s heart but the episode depicted Faris’s heart as well and it could be Aabi and Zumar.. Mainly it was Saadi and Faris..I guess

Anyway, In this episode many new tracks were introduced as both the families are now in the verge of gathering people for their support, using each others dark secrets to cover themselves …how cunningly smart they are!
To know about the happenings and the comments about them let’s see what this episode offered..

• Tye Tye fish…for Hashim Kardaar he couldn’t find anything regarding Haneen’s blackmailing of O.S.P as a prop to use against Saadi.Somehow while reading this there was something fishy about Ahmer and that surprise blasted afterwards.

• The passport delieverd to Hashim was just a mere mystery and I thought if its not Khawar and Alicia it must be Saadi himself because he is not that masoom anymore and how could he do such a irresponsible act after planning everything out.By the end of this astonishing episode the writer tried to convince that it was Dr.Aiman.

• OMG…was the first impression I got when Faris (Mr.Sherlock Holmes) caught Aabdaar’s drama but by the end of the scene I really felt for Aabi, she is immature and is just hurting herself. It was intense.

• Saadi sneaking the house and was caught by Zumar …This lady is genuinely very wise she by her words convinced Saadi to stay home and heal himself within its beloved family….It was Cute “ kuch loug is qaabil hote hain kay unkay liye pighla jaaye”

• Faris Zumar Nok jhoank kay beghair kya maza haina? ….It was super adorable or I must say I laughed and then thought it could be renamed as Awwwing moment.. they way Zumar asked as if he had gone to pray taraweeh was hillarious and his reply “kyun meri ibadatoan ko nazar lgaati ho” and teesri biwi kay paas tha ? Sach main dau number insan…Haha
Zumar-Faris track always leaves impact whether it be intense emotional upheavals or funny and sweet tantrums.

• Haneen ….Yo girl way to heal yourself. It was good to see Faris trusted her and she regained herself. She provided the text messages to Saadi and that was the moment where Saadi was crashed, not because he just accused her of something and it didn’t turn out to be that but the most hurting thing was it was he himself being the main concern for his sister and he just couldn’t get over it.

• The first step taken by Saadi was to arrest Naushervan and using social media “Mera Naam Saadi hai” video to start paralyzing the Hashim Kardaar’s horrendous acts. It was refreshing to see Hashim being stressed out because Now the Yusuf’s are all ready.

• Haroon Obaid can stoop this low for her daughter or maybe he has some hidden benefits for himself as Zumar suspected. That nose pin was so dear to Zumar because there was an emotional connection with it.

• Surah Al Naml tafseer went on and it was so refreshing to read and know about the deeper meanings of the ayaat. No one is free, Freedom is a myth and how Zumar connected them to her life and decided that She will choose “Zumar”. Such a confident lady!

The Scene that was the turning point of this episode:

Well to everyone’s surprise it seems now that Ahmer Shafi is against Kardaar’s and is helping Yusuf’s family and the point which crossed the path of Ahmer and Khawar was their past and their families being sacrificed. How Hashim and Javahirat the two evil masterminds killed people for their own interest and blamed someone else to cover for them I mean such a corrupt family. Ahmer Shafi was a big surprise in this episode and the biggest surprise was his killing khawar.

Saadi finally said to Dr.Sarah to make a decision on the basis of the trust Saadi had on her? I think its time for Dr.Sarah to side with Yusuf’s and be brave.

Pace

This episode was also very happening and the pace is going good but this novel still has more tracks to uncover so its not going to end soon.

Overall, these episodes were captivating as the previous ones and there is not much to be criticized. The most admirable thing I found was Zumar’s behaviour she is the Queen of the ants and she is playing her part very well. Her words are just dripping with emotions, concern, and love for her family. You really enjoy everyone’s journey and Haneen is interested in interior designing …right? I assume might end up studying and finding her passion in designing. But its time now they should reach their destination and finish the game of Kardaars.

Any guesses?

Deewana – Episode 17 & 18!

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Deewana were a treat to watch. I must say, I actually missed watching this drama when it didn’t air last week. It has become one of those dramas which I look forward to because the story is different & the characters are quite interesting. I am glad that they took the story forward in these episodes & everything is falling at a right place at a right time.

I loved how Mehru took a stand for herself & left. Yes, it wasn’t appreciated that she left even when her mother condoned her request but Mehru explained herself & explained the reason why she needed to see Haris. For me, this move of Mehru turned her into a strong woman who was ready to deal with her emotional baggage her way & she became someone who was ready for a closure but on her terms & conditions. Yes, Mehru did go ahead with the hope of reconciling her differences with Haris but what happened there took her by surprise too. It was good to see that she relied on Falak & Falak, who was waiting for an opportunity went ahead with Mehru to help her till the end.

Haris actually thought that he had scored a big win because he compelled a girl like Mehru to travel all the way to his city & see him. Haris thought that Mehru was dying without him & was so desperate that she would beg him to not leave her but his ego got bruised when Mehru didn’t say any of that what he expected. I must say the concept of Falak being a someone with supernatural powers was covered really really well, because the way he whispered his thoughts into Mehru’s ears & controlled her mind himself went to show that he wasn’t just a regular human being & could do way more than what people around him could even think of. Mehru placed a much needed slap on Haris’s face & it was enough of a wake-up call for him that in this battle, he lost miserably & Mehru defeated him mercilessly. Haris actually used to get an ego boost thinking that he succeeded in making Mehru miserable but just a single slap from Mehru was enough for him to know that he was sadly mistaken & bring him to the ground.

I must say all the moments that Mehru & Falak shared were beautiful. This is a fantasy drama & I don’t mind seeing a bit of unrealistic fantasy every now & then. Falak took Mehru to his world just to make her forget everything that she has been through & Mehru couldn’t believe what she had just experienced. I loved how they spend time with each other, being silly, being friends & being those who started to confide in each other slowly & steadily. Falak has done a lot for Mehru to realize that he has stood by his word & he proved that he actually was her friend & that is why, Mehru started opening up & decided to move past her worries because Falak was doing so much to make her happy.

Haris couldn’t believe what just happened to him & that is why he even gave his parents a hard time too. It is actually quite good to see that those who’ve done bad to others aren’t leading a happy & peaceful life themselves either. Tabrez & Amtul might think that they’re winning the battle that they have started against Subhan, Shama & Mehru but the way their son Haris is giving them a hard time is enough of a punishment for them as well. I can’t wait to see when Amtul & Tabrez will be abandoned by Haris & they will be all sulking all alone with only their misery by their side.

I enjoyed watching Shabnam & Gaiti’s scenes too. Their dialogues are witty & unique but the way the actresses have conveyed them make them far more enjoyable. Shabnam continued to harass Shama emotionally but little did she know that the news of Mehru slapping Haris will only bring happiness to Shama because that will inform her that Mehru has finally grown out of her marriage with Haris. The way Shama laughed hysterically showed how relieved she was because she wished for anything but to see Haris & Mehru together, so at least that news told her that she should’nt worry much because the thing that she was dreading the most wasn’t going to happen ever. Gaiti has fallen in love with Falak & he has no idea about it. It was actually quite immature of Gaiti to show up at Falak’s doorstep, but she couldn’t help it because she has forgotten what happened to her last time. I like how Chanda Bee & Husn Ara have become such friends who understand each other’s pains & feel for each other too. Chanda Bee knows that even Husn Ara is worried for Falak as much as Shama is for Mehru. It is actually quite admirable that the only thing that Chanda Bee’s good at is loyalty, be it with her boss or her new-found friend.

I think Falak is getting a bit too comfortable with Mehru & just like Husn Ara & Shams discussed, he will end up telling his secret to Mehru because he has given her enough hints & I am sure it won’t take Mehru much longer to put the pieces of the puzzle together. She already asked him the question that he didn’t see coming but even though he will deny the fact for now, he won’t be able to keep up his secret for long. I must say I love how Mehru & Falak’s relationship is developing, Mehru has no idea what she means to Falak & I love the confidence Falak has where he knows that no matter what happens, he will be able to protect Mehru. The thing that he said about respecting Mehru was actually quite sweet. It is nice to see that they both have found a friend in each other that they both were yearning for.

Overall, these two episodes were really really nice & I enjoyed watching them the most. I hope Mehru & Falak return soon & being Shama & Husn Ara out of their misery & also, I actually hope that Husn Ara does something that will keep Shabnam away from Shama & the vicinity of her home. It was actually quite amusing to see how Husn Ara threatened Shabnam & left her speechless. I must say I love the direction of this drama, the director deserves full points for directing this drama so brilliantly. All the situations are covered perfectly & most importantly, there’s a clarity in the elaboration of what the characters go through. The writer deserves full points as well for such a brilliant piece of writing, especially etching out the character of Falak so beautifully & for such a realistic portrayal of emotions that humans go through. All the actors have done a brilliant job but for me, Fazeela Qazi & Shehroz Sabzwari take the cake. They are flawless as Shabnam & Falak & make their scenes a treat to watch. Iqra Aziz looks really pretty when she smiles, so I hope the writer has put her past the crying stage & now we’ll only see a happy Mehru. Please share your thoughts about these two episode of Deewana & let me know how much you loved them! :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Pakistan’s First Ever Superhero Film

0

For fans of Sheheryaar Munawar, Syra Yusuf, Humayun Saeed and for anyone who enjoys a good superhero film, there’s good news: the makers of the film, Project Ghazi insist that this will be Pakistan’s first ever superhero film. Sheheryaar Munawar, Humayun Saeed and Syra Yusuf will be playing the lead roles. 40% of the film has been shot and it will hit the screens in 2017.

Nadir Shah, who mostly directs advertisements is the director of Project Ghazi which happens to be his first feature film. In conversation with Express Tribune, revealed, “It’s a story of an advanced soldier project and it spans over a period of 20 years.”

g1

Ali Raza, the producer said,“Humayun and Sheheryar’s characters are equally balanced and compliment each other and they’re both playing superheroes.”

Adnan Jaffar is playing the antagonist while veteran actor Talat Hussain is also taking on an important role.

“You’ve never seen Saira like this before. Sheheryar has worked really hard and he has come out looking really good; like a young, modern super soldier.”

humayun

“We strongly believe in Pakistan and the revived cinema of Pakistan. The superhero genre is owned by Hollywood. They’re the ones who started this and they’re the ones we would like to land closest to, if not be exactly like them.”

“We want to do justice to the first Pakistani attempt. And I am sure Nadir will agree that while making this film, we faced many challenges because there’s no history of superhero movies in Pakistan. Hollywood films belonging to this genre have a track record of 80 years.”

sherry

A great deal of hard work went into the making of costumes. “We really had a great team. No one’s really done costume work like this in Pakistan before and we had to do everything from scratch. So it was difficult to design costumes in which actors could do stunts while being able to breathe normally.”

“First, we made designs. Then we made concept art and later found the right vendors. Then we had a team which tried out several versions before we actually got to a functional piece which not only looked good but was wearable as well.”

g2

These people clearly know what they are doing – they shared that the actors had to undergo 3D scanning for the masks they’d be seen wearing in the movie which were created by a 3D printer. For a quality superhero film, the special effects have to be top-notch and the producer and director promise special effects of the highest standards.

“One thing that motivated us was that when we were travelling across Pakistan, we’d see superhero merchandise from all over the world but nothing from Pakistan. So it’s time. And I hope we can complete this project and present it to the audience in a grounded way.”

The producer hopes to make Pakistan proud by taking on a genre not explored before by Pakistani cinema.

According to Jamal Shah, the film will vacillate between the 16th century and the modern times. It will be a unique love story and a tasteful commercial film of high production values.
