Pakistani Fashion: Influence of Western Fashion

0

Trends of fashion have changed drastically in Pakistan in the previous few years. These changes are however greatly influenced by styles and fashion of Hollywood. Ironically Pakistani Fashion Industry (PDI) has multitudes of extraordinarily gifted designers who without any doubt have the abilities to compete and give tough competition to their competitors from all over the world. Yet all major brands in Pakistan and even designers are putting forward apparels and accessories that are highly influenced by western trends. Pakistani culture itself is very unique and highly diverse, without change everything becomes stagnant and consequently fades away but these changes should be according to our own requirements and values.

573338-image-1373130509-318-640x480
PDI has adopted many trends from Hollywood e.g. lace gown, nude color, and neon color; both in dresses and accessories, strapless or off shoulder dresses. These colors and trends don’t belong to a particular area or industry obviously but using them very frequently when they become popular in the west is copying. Any style which becomes prevalent in Hollywood becomes a rage in Pakistan after a year or two. Major Pakistani designers, brands and celebs are deliberately promoting this trend of imitation and copying. Kurtis now have been replaced by tops, shalwar and churidar by skinny jeans and frock and kameez by gowns, skirts and jumpsuits.

gr
We are losing our individuality and cultural heritage. PDI should burrow styles from international arena but instead of adopting those trends and styles they should be adapted in our unique and exclusive fashion. For example High low skirts and dresses that were and still are a rage in Hollywood have been taken by our designers and have been assimilated in frocks and kameez according to our culture. Adapting this style elegantly instead of copying it shows that it can be done with other trends as well.

High-Low-Skirt-Dress         have been adapted as           Limelight-Party-Wear-Dresses-Eid-Collection-2013-04
It is high time we should start taking pride in our culture and heritage and change it according to our needs and changing fashion trends instead of adopting foreign attire.

Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai – Torture # Bees!

0

Oh boy! Are we having this conversation over those repetitive conversations again? Phew. I think the best name for this serial would’ve been ‘Chand Aurtain, Ghatiya Kahaniyaan’. I was searching for the purpose of this drama but gladly in the 20th episode I found it & it was just to show the mansion of Shakeel uncle. I am sure the director fell in love with the location & for that he made this drama because if there’s anything that’s technically sound in this serial, those are the different shots & angles of the place, that’s it.

The whole episode was dedicated to Areeba, who’s good enough to even spoil the taste of my birthday cake :/. I must say that where the technicality died, this drama came into being. Areeba & her father had a conversation on the couch about why she left & what was her problem but that whole scenario was divided into two scenes where Areeba’s father kept on begging her like bolo beta, bolo beta, bolo beta, bolo beta, bolo beta, bolo beta, bolo beta. I mean…I was like being her father the Justin Bieber uncle should’ve pulled her hair, pulled the tongue out of her throat, made her smell the dog poop & should’ve done every torture possible to get the reason for why she left Arham’s place but him being too cotton-like soft on her wasn’t necessary. Being a father, he should’ve taken all the steps to throw this daft unintelligent girl out of his place.

Shakeel uncle goes like I have to take a faisla & Shaiq reacted like ‘FAISLA’ as if he never had a conversation on these lines before. I don’t know are they really that dumb or have no brains to actually understand what the other is saying without having a question mark like expression on their faces. Shakeel uncle spoke about taking a decision but then again he went into the gruesome details & it looked like he was trying so hard to act but his acting was stuck in his throat like a fish-bone. Even though he tried, it couldn’t come out. Accha, Shaiq said he couldn’t even conceive of an idea to stay away from his family & I was like yeah right. He is the one who is never really interested in what’s going on with his family members & he says he can’t live without them, I think he’s another loon on the loose.

Finally someone’s giving Narmeen a Narmeen time (hard time). She is being blackmailed but like always Shaiq didn’t disappoint us & continued to sound like an absent minded puppet who even heard & asked about who wanted the money from Narmeen but then his disinterest continued & he left. I mean really? Stop being a botch up for Khuda’s sake.

Arham continued to whinge because his pamper needed a change & his Aya’s gone. I am glad that someone made a special appearance in this episode & that celebrity was Sarah. LOL. All of a sudden she is too keen to know why Areeba left. I believe they all live under the same huge roof but the way she said things, it sounded like she was abroad & came running to Pakistan when she heard that Areeba left. I really wish to see at least ONE, at leasttt ONE episode of this drama which does make some sense. Areeba’s equally annoying friend is becoming her psychiatrists, boy their Yakeen Yakeen conversation almost make me puke. Areeba’s friend goes around saying ‘Khud pe yakeen karnay ko hi Khuda pe yakeen karna kehte hain’. I so wish either she wasn’t in the serial or I would’ve gotten a chance to smack her or the dialogue writer. How can they write such such crappy dialogues which question the intricacy of our beliefs? This dialogue was way over the line. I hope the dialogue writer pays more attention before blurting lines on the paper.

Anyways, Areeba told her friend that she feels threatened because she ain’t that pretty. I am glad Areeba’s thinking on those lines, what else could be a better reason for her to get a good make up artist then, Haan Areeba??? It goes around showing that she wasn’t only a below average student but she has an inferiority complex too, wow. I am glad to confess that Areeba Arham have completely justified The Allah Milai Jori phrase. They compliment each other in so many ways that they themselves don’t know of. :) Masha Allah, Allah inhain nazr-e-bad se bachaye!

Wow! Next episode will have some action but I am sure it will go down rushing the western flush too.

Keep supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

The Departed Souls

Some iconic male actors of our industry have left this world but even after their demise they are alive in the memories of their fans. They are still praised and cherished by countless viewers, not only for their acting skills but also for they memories they have left us with; memories of their characters and works on screen. Some unforgettable names are:
Moin Akhtar

Moin Akhtar; versatility in comic roles personified, he was a legend in his own right. Amongst the highly multitalented personalities of Pakistani industry Moin Akhtar was an acclaimed actor, comedian, writer, singer and host. Though his expertise lies in comic roles and mimicry, he was equally adept in serious roles as well; his character in Rozee is amalgam of both comedy and serious acting, in short a symbol of versatility. The genius of Moin Akhtar and Anwar Maqsood always brought something extraordinary and highly intellectual yet always coated with humor and social satire. In his last interview when asked about his contribution to Pakistani comedy he answered “everything I did is a part of history now. To live with history is difficult but there will be people, who will say one day, “There was a man who did it and did it so differently”.”

moin
Shafi Mohammad Shah

Best known for his roles as feudal lord, Shafi Mohammad Shah’s personality had the aura of a feudal lord but the one who was perhaps the most soft spoken feudal. He gave us numerous unforgettable plays and performances e.g. Aanch, Marvi, Afshaan, Teesra Kinara and many more.

Shafi_Muhammad_Shah_picjpg_9_skayxPak101(dot)com
Jamshed Ansari

Jamshed Ansari another gem of Pakistan television was greatly admired actor and comedian; mostly known for his comic roles. Uncle Urfi, Unkahi, Tanhaiyan, Sach Much, Half Plate are among his most notable works. He has done some serious roles as well but they are always outshined by his flawless performances in comic overtones particularly Uncle Urfi and Unkahi’s characters.

phpThumb
Hassam Qazi

Another esteemed actor who smile and powerful voice mesmerized the audience. Marvi, Sangchoor and Pinjra are among his noteworthy plays. Though his gained fame from a negative role (Marvi) and performed it to perfection yet he appeared to be the most polite person ever. It is caliber of such actors to perform every character seamlessly.

hassam qazi
Khayyam Sarhadi

Khayyam Sarhadi a remarkable artist who embodied the very soul of each character he performed. With countless dramas on his list, Khayyam Sarhadi kept adding jewels like Angar Wadi, Ghulam Gardish, Man Chalay ka Sauda and Meri Zaat Zara e Benishan in his crown.

ks
Salim Nasir

Salim Nasir has the briefest career as compared to the above mentioned actors. He worked in few yet amazingly superb dramas in his short career. I have not seen him in serious roles but I’m sure he has acted flawlessly in them as he did in Angan Tehra and Unkahi; both characters had comic overtones, nonetheless these two characters have made him eternal and unforgettable.

salim nasir
All these artists are equally exquisite and wonderful actors, the order of mentioning is random. Every one of them is asset, a priceless treasure who has shaped Pakistani drama industry into what it is today. They are not among us today but their efforts, unsurpassed and profoundly influential acting will always be remembered and admired.

Feel free to add your deceased favorites.

Pyarai Afzal – And he rules..

0

Truthfulness has the power of its own; No matter what happens, it is always truth that wins. When you are right, you don’t need to give any justification but just to wait for right time- for your time to come till you will rise. Within no time, Afzal left his job with a thought that it was his respect for opposite gender due to which he can define himself as a good living being; The question mark at this very trait was unbearable for him.

1

Farah’s mother was curious to know about the guy with whom Farah wants to gets married. Farah tried every possible way to ran away from the situation but was left helpless and in the end,out of nowhere, Lubna took Afzal’s name infront of her mother. It was not more than a shock for Farah as she can never think of herself being associated to Afzal. For her , he was the worst man she ever knew and she took it as her insult when her sister took his name and all Lubna got as a result of taking out Farah from worse condition was a slap from her.

2

Lubna clarified everything infront of her mother that she never meant that it was Afzal SubhanAllah of whom she was talking.Meanwhile,Sheikh Saheb came to know  the truth behind whole drama created to throw Afzal out of the factory; It was Chengaizi who was jealous of Afzal because Rozi showed inclination towards him and as a result Chengaizi felt insecure because he himself was having an affair with Rozi. Sheikh Saheb seemed to be much impressed from Afzal’s character but at the same time he was regretting that how can he be so rude to him without having any proof of him being culprit?

3

Afzal was so upset of the situation but he never forgot about his promise – the promise he made to stay on right path no matter what happens. My heart cried as I saw Afzal crying in pain of getting the fruit of what he never thought to do. His sister, Arfa, is always there to console him but sometimes, its only time that vanishes all the miseries and pains in your life.

4

Farah’s misconception about Afzal came to an end when she came to know that Afzal,by no mean, is person who is labeled with “Bad Character”.As soon as Farah got to know whole story,a visible change in her was felt; she seems to be falling for Afzal. Maybe ,its too early to predict but yes, not Afzal, but she is now keeping track of what Afzal do and where he goes.

5

Afzal,in search of job, went for his interview. At that time,he came to know that there is no role of good character in this cruel world of ours but few papers that are titled as “degree”. By the way, Afzal’s answer to the interviewer left me laughing out loud – It was a slap at panel’s face.. :) ..Sheikh Sahab owed an apology to Afzal so he called him to ask Afzal to join him again but Afzal was man of his words and more than that it was against his self-respect to get a job merely on the basis of his father’s reference.

6

Pahlay tou dil mai aya almaari khol kar saray khat parh loun, par phir socha Allah daikh raha hai..

Bus please tum Allah se darti rehena..

And we laughed with Arfa. For me that was the scene of the day; Arfa’s sisterly love and concern for her brother comes out with every word she utters that is full of emotions and care for Afzal. And atlast, we saw smiling Afzal .. :)

Lubna’s meeting with Afzal will be a part of next episode. Overall, this episode was another one of well packaged episodes and I really enjoyed watching it.  Do share your views about this latest installment.

Ranjish Hi Sahi – Episode 9

0

For the first time today Kamal Hassan actually came across as a coward. Yumna showed more strength than him while facing similar issues in her own house. He has still not been able to muster up the courage to tell Bilquees or Rohail that Yumna is his wife now. Having said that, I must confess that I find Kamal’s love for Yumna very cute. His romantic personality coupled with his feelings for Yumna have always been very pleasant to see on screen and even after everything that transpired today, I still find that part of his personality very charming.

rhs3

The aftermath of Kamal’s failure to defend Yumna in front of his wife and son was portrayed brilliantly. I am sure that just like me many more viewers could feel what Yumna was going through; she felt betrayed and was badly hurt. She had put in all her trust in Kamal, she had been through so much just to be with him and now she wasn’t sure what to expect from the man who had promised to stay by her side through thick and thin. Later on the apology scene was equally well shot. The way that Yumna looks at Kamal and the manner in which he pleads left very little to the imagination. Faisal Rehman and Samiya Mumtaz’s chemistry has been perfect throughout this play.

rhs1

Bilquees Kamal is not the one to give up anytime soon and Rohail is bound to be there by her side every step of the way. Right now, it seems most unlikely that Kamal will be able to go against Rohail’s wishes because he has not left Kamal with much choice.

Arsal’s mother has trouble written all over her; she is over critical and does not think twice before speaking her mind. I would think a hundred times before getting my daughter married to a man who has a mother like her! Arsal is a sensitive and caring person who would find it very hard to take a stand for his wife in the future if there is a problem. No wonder he wanted to marry a girl like Tooba! Only a girl like her would be able to put up with his mother’s annoying ways. Arsal’s mother’s negative personality traits were highlighted a little too much in tonight’s episode, I hope that there was a good reason for it.

rhs6

I absolutely love both the houses which have been used for shooting. The outlook of these houses adds to the entire feel of the drama. They are not one of those houses which you see in dramas over and over again. Besides that, I especially love the decor and the use of oranges, yellows and greens with such finesse.

rhs2

If I compare this episode to the previous ones then I would have to say that this episode was slightly less impressive than those before it but overall it was entertaining as usual. It is very difficult to predict where the story will go from here. Will Arsal’s mother break off the engagement? Will Rohail and Yumna’s relationship survive through all these problems? I am waiting to find out.

I would once again like to thank the writer Maha Malik for wonderful dialogues that are music to my ears every time and a big thank you to the director and the actors for a job well done. I am really enjoying this show, it is the perfect start to the week. It is like a nice change from the usual dramas we see on our television screens. Definitely looking forward to more.

Bunty I Love You – Coming Soon

0

Bunty I Love You is an upcoming drama on Hum TV whose cast include Saba Qamar,Abid Ali and Noman Habib. All I can guess from promos is that Saba Qamar is 17 years old girl named as Dania who is engaged to Bunty(Noman Habib) and after Bunty’s death she will get married to Mr. Patel (Abid Ali).

Noman Habib recently appeared in Mai Hoon Shahid Afridi and his performance was not that much appreciated by critics. Saba Qamar can be seen quite often onscreen with different roles; this time she will come up as 17 years old girl. I know, many of us will come up with the thought that Saba is too old to play this role. Even I,myself ,thought the same way; they could have asked Sajal Ali to perform the role but then she would have looked too young with Abid Ali.

Enjoy on-set photos and all promos of the drama.

Coke Studio: A Roller-coaster of Music

0

Coke Studio Pakistan has given new dimension to music and quality of music by featuring and presenting forth not only a vast majority of artists but music instruments as well. CS has many unique and in a way intriguing aspects which have played their part in its marvelous success. It has revitalized some dying or fading genres particularly Folk, Classical and Sufiana Kalaam which before CS were somehow overshadowed by contemporary genres.
One very prominent feature of CS is presenting not only fusion of music but of different genres simultaneously. Nindiya K Par by Uzair Jaswal, Jal Pari by Atif are very good examples of blending of two genres (both these have been merged with stanzas from Nusrat Fateh’s songs). They have even experimented with featuring two vocalists and blending two genres as well e.g. Garaj Baras by Rahat Fateh Ali and Ali Azmat and Durr by Strings and Hussain Bakhs Gullo which were extremely super-hit.

home_car_1
CS is providing a platform for new and less renowned artists making them instantly famous all over the country and abroad e.g. Chakwal Group ; since CS Pakistan has become international with inclusion of international artists which includes both musicians and singers. Sanam Saeed who had previously shown her versatility as singer in her theatre musicals got country-wide fame from CS. Many foreign artists have been made part of CS in season six; the current season had a singer from Turkey namely Sumru Agıryuruyen and musicians from Norway, Italy, Serbia, Bangladesh, Morocco and Nepal.

Coke-Studio-3-Musical-Wallpapers-2-715780
Another fascinating aspect of CS is featuring songs in regional languages. Almost every season of CS offers few songs in regional languages which are usually Sufiana Kalaam or Folk song; killing to birds with one stone i.e. it is aiding both the genres and the regional languages to flourish and show their intricacies and delicacies which became dormant because of consistent ignorance by the current generation. The same singers like Arif Lohar, Ata Ullah Esakhelvi, Fareed Ayaz etc who were previously overlooked became instant success again. CS has recorded songs in Balochi, Siraiki, Punjabi, Sindhi and Persian at times blending them or presenting as it is with music which have never reached the human ears before.

cc
The genius behind CS who has always given quality work in the field of music since the beginning of his career be it Vital Signs, music of Khuda k Lye and now CS. Hats off to him for his efforts and presenting forth something melodious yet brilliantly top notch in every aspect (music, lyrics, language etc) and for giving opportunities to many deserving artists. It indeed is an amalgam of perfection, brilliance and hoards of talent from every possible area of Pakistani music.

Saba Qamar – Recent Photo Shoot

Being most versatile actress, Saba’s acting career is at its peak now a days. She was assigned with almost all kind of roles and she did equally well in transforming herself into the character she was given. From Vamp to maasoom bholi bhaali girl,we loved Saba in every role. A tribute to the Queen of Melody – Madam Noor Jehan

0

“Gaye gi Dunya geet merayyy !”

Madam Noorjehan was the greatest film and music personality in the history of showbiz in Pakistan.

Untitled

Early Life:

Madam Noor Jehan was born in a very poor family on September 21, 1926 at Qasoor, Punjab. She displayed signs of having a melodious voice, which became more apparent by the time she was four or five years old. She could pick up just about anything – be it a folk song or a popular number from a theatrical drama – she could imitate it to perfection. Realizing her immense talent, her mother began to believe that her daughter had something exceptional to give to the world. So, her mother arranged for her to begin her training in singing and dancing alongside her elder sisters, Eidan Bai and Haider Baandi. She received early music lessons under Kajjanbai (a singer between 1920 and 1930) who made her do “riyaz” up to 12 hours a day. After her morning “riyaz”, a teacher would come to help her learn to read and write. She received early training in classical singing under Ustad Ghulam Mohammed who instructed her in classical music and voice production within the framework of classical forms of thumri, dhrupad, and khayal. We really miss her. She had a legendary voice and will always be remembered as the finest voice of Pakistan. There is so much to write on her. Words are always less to define such great personalities.

Some people leave us with great memories. She was among such ones. She has left with us her beautiful voice. We still listen to her melodious songs and not only us, these songs are popular world-wide, spreading the word of love and harmony

Do leave us with your comments and feedback on this “tribute” article. As today is her death anniversary, we all should  pray “May her soul rest in peace in heavens”

Pakistan Idol – Week 3!

0

So, this week the judges covered Peshawar, Sukkhur & Islamabad. I liked the Islamabad auditions more but it was a bit of a disappointment to know that no one from Sukkhur made to the next round except ONE. Even the crowd there seemed less as compared to the other cities but the guy who qualified did have a nice voice.

One thing that I absolutely loved about Peshawar auditions was the Pushto songs that were sung & the typical Pukhtoon music that  was played in the background. It was an amazing feeling to know that the people of Peshawar loved their bit in the music & had originality when it comes to that too. It was like showing the essence of their vicinity through music. I wish that we could’ve seen the love of folk in the auditions of few other cities too, so for that Peshawar dwellers deserve an applause.

So the people who appeared in the Peshawar Auditions were Mohammad Ishaq Khan, Mohammad Shoaib, Asif Hussain, Moiz, Javeria Shoaib & Abdul Wasif. Of all these only Mohammad Shoaib, Asif Hussain & Javeria Shoaib got the golden tickets. Well I must say when Mohammad Ishaq Khan came & spoke about the compliment he got from Noor Jahan plus how he had been performing in his own city & abroad I thought we had found a star from Peshawar, but the moment he started singing I wasn’t sure if he was joking now or previously when he spoke of the compliments. It was sad to hear him sing that bad.

Moiz who came across as a fan of Justin Bieber through his sense of style sang a song from Indian movie ‘Kaminay’ & I really couldn’t understand why would he sing but at least he had the confidence, so it’s alright. Asif Hussain sang a classical piece so effortlessly that I hoped he got the golden ticket with 3 mutual yeses but it was kind of funny to see Bushra Ansari object on him because according to her he missed a lot of surs but what’s funniest was Ali Azmat saying the very next moment that his surs were perfect. I must say it takes sort sort of a practice on your own to pick up such intricacies in the vocals but Bushra Ansari forgot that she is an actor & not a singer at all. Mohammad Shoaib who sang Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan’s song ‘Kinna Sohna Tenu’ & Javeria Shoaib both did an amazing job & got the tickets right away.

Another one who came to try his luck in Peshawar Auditions was Abdul Wasif who looked like a model but sang really bad. He picked the song ‘Char Dino Da Pyaar O Rabba’ which Ali Azmat changed to ‘4 Rupay Da Naan O Rabba, 2 Rupay Di Roti Lawai’, what’s funny was that Abdul Wasif himself knew how bad he sang & he was pretty much prepared for the verdict so he said he came to have fun.

In Sukkhur auditions I was just not a fan of Hadiqa Kiyani’s hairdo but I thought the rest was good. Only three people made to the screen & they were Younten Masih who sang pretty well but it was kind of one dimensional singing & not appropriate for Pakistan Idol. Wajahat Ahmed Bhatti stated he disliked Ali Azmat but sad his singing was just as bad to make Ali Azmat laugh on his face, he sang ‘Pal Pal Pal’ where Bushra Ansari asked where he had lost his masculine voice. Ohkay, I know the judges might be getting nuts by listening to people left right & centre but to pass comments like these speak a lot more about them too. But it was funny on Wajahat’s part that when he came out from the judges room he said he got their blessings whereas all of them told him not to sing in the future. Niaz Mohammad Baloch was the only one who made it to the next round from Sukkhur & I am glad he did.

Islamabad Auditions focused a lot more on the people who qualified for the next round. There were also many girls who got the golden tickets but I just couldn’t understand Ali Azmat’s hesitation when it came to girls. Whenever Hadiqa Kiyani & Bushra Ansari liked any girl, Ali Azmat claimed they were being biased, he said it both in Peshawar & then Islamabad auditions. I am kind of confused at his mental state where he thought only guys were better but I think he needs to re-check what he says about girls. It looks like he only came to approve boys but whenever girls got a chance he seemed kind of skeptical. I hope he cuts down the discrimination because it is quite obvious & being a judge, he should’nt just side with the boys.

From Islamabad Zeeshan Ali, Tehmina Noor, Anzik Maajid, Reema Majeed, Bano Rehmat, Durr-e-Shahwaar, Asad Raza & Waqas Ali got the golden tickets. Zeeshan Ali was really confident & sang well too. Tehmina Noor was just 16 y/o & she had such a melodious voice, Waqas Ali came with his younger brother who also tried but he was far behind in singing as compared to his elder brother therefore he wasn’t qualified. I wasn’t too impressed with Anzik Maajid’s voice because it seemed that his voice in a transitional period where it would change & grow to be more mature but still he got the ticket as he sang both classical & some Indian song too.

Mohammad Murad claimed he could cover all genres in his singing but it looked like he was good at imitating & had no voice of his own. A guy named Abdul Haseeb Khan came all the way from Swabi & sang Ali Azmat’s songs but he totally lacked in vocals so I was wondering why did he put in so much of an effort? Syed Musa Kazim came as a fan of Kumar Sanu & tried to sing like him but like seriously?!?!?

Anyways, another week of Pakistan Idol got over & I must say that the judges are not coming across as humorous or funny rather at times they cross their lines & when I say them I am not speaking of Hadiqa Kiyani. Bushra Ansari & Ali Azmat are over-doing it. I wish they were actually funny in stead of being rude.

My favorites from this week’s auditions were Mohammad Shoaid, Asif Hussain from Peshawar & Zeeshan Ali from Islamabad. Let’s see what’s more left to be heard in Pakistan Idol.

Cheers,

Pakistani Musical Bands – The lost culture

0

We had a popular culture of rock and pop musical bands in Pakistan. From late 80s and rising to peak in early 90s but it seems as if this culture has died down. We had great musical bands like Vital Signs, Junoon, Awaz, Fuzon, Noori, Jal etc. Some of the bands split while the intensity of others died down.

Untitled
Today we see and listen more of solo performances from the music artists. The main reason behind the downfall of this musical band culture are the difference among the singers of the bands and there inter conflicts. Jal & Awaz had such a split and some other bands too. Very few of the many bands

didn’t maintain its intensity because of their other commitments. We can recall how much “Strings” was popular but we are not having much from them now.

There used to be a number of live musical band concerts which were very popular among the youngster and college/university going students. Even some families also used to enjoy these type of concerts which were held in large numbers throughout the year but we can hardly see these group performances now. The social media is also not giving enough boost to the new bands and also our media too is not paying heed to new comers in this area. We must recognize the energy of the new comers to get this lost culture back in our society as it is not only a great source of entertainment but also it will provide an opportunity to the new comers to showcase their talents.

Moreover, another positive side of having musical bands back in our society is that they can act as peace ambassadors of Pakistan on international level. Many musical bands presented the soft side of Pakistan in international arena via showcasing their talents in international concerts, in past. “Strings”, “Fuzon” and “Noori” are some popular names among such bands. We must realize that internationally the image of Pakistan has been greatly damaged by the association of Terrorism, because of this our dear Pakistani fellows are suffering. In such a situation, what needed is, to restore the true image of Pakistan and that is only possible when we are going to be the ambassadors of peace and love. We must revive the musical band’s culture back in our society so that we can help our country to reveal its real face to the world which has been wrongly covered with the dust of terrorism

In the era when our bands were doing well in abroad, we did feel a great recognition for them. They not only earned good name for their own selves but also for their own dear country, Pakistan. By saying so, I do not by any mean claim that our solo singers are not doing good work. They are also doing great. Singers like Hadiqa Kiyani, Shehzad Roy etc are not only performing to get the lost image of Pakistan back but also they are appointed as the Peace Ambassadors. Hadiqa is the Peace Ambassador in U.N. and Shehzad Roy has also earned an esteemed name on International level. This kind of respect was also stolen by our musical bands which are no longer present. We should try to get them back in our society. This is not only necessary for our entertainment alone but also for the country.

Rock, Pop, Jazz. We miss them all. We miss the enthusiasm of Junoon and their popular patriotic songs, we miss the vibe of Jal and the energy of Awaz. We need them back. We need new energy. We need new musical bands that can infuse our culture back with vibrancy & spark

What do you think, Do we need the musical bands back or not ? Do let us know your opinion on this and don’t forget to vote the article

Zinda Bhaag out of Oscars race

Zinda Bhaag the first Pakistani film submitted for Oscars nomination in past fifty years has been left out of Oscars race for best foreign film category. Here is actual news from English Daily, Express Tribune

LOS ANGELES: Zinda Bhaag’, the first Pakistani movie to be nominated for an Oscar, was left out of the best foreign language Oscar short list, but nine other movies made the cut, organisers announced on Friday.

Works by Palestinian, Danish and Hong Kong filmmakers were shortlisted for the best foreign language Oscar.

Along with Pakistan’s first entry in five decades, Saudi Arabia’s first ever candidate and an Oscar-winning Iranian director also failed to make the cut.

Films by Belgian, Bosnian, Cambodian, German, Hungarian and Italian directors are also on the shortlist.

The films were whittled down from a long list of 76 movies announced in October by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which organizes Hollywood’s biggest annual awards fest.

They will be reduced to five nominees next month, before nominations in all Oscar categories are announced on January 16. The 86th Academy Awards will be held on March 2.

The nine shortlisted foreign language films are:

– “The Broken Circle Breakdown,” Belgium, director Felix van Groeningen.

– “An Episode in the Life of an Iron Picker,” Bosnia and Herzegovina, director Danis Tanovic.

– “The Missing Picture,” Cambodia, director Rithy Panh.

– “The Hunt,” Denmark, director Thomas Vinterberg.

–  “Two Lives,” Germany, director Georg Maas.

–  “The Grandmaster,” Hong Kong, director Wong Kar-wai.

–  “The Notebook,” Hungary, director Janos Szasz.

–  “The Great Beauty,” Italy, director Paolo Sorrentino.

– “Omar,” Palestine, director Hany Abu-Assad.

For Pakistan, “Zinda Bhaag” (“Flee Alive”) was the first Oscar entry for over 50 years. It is a comedy-thriller about three young men trying to escape the drudgery of their everyday lives through unconventional means.

The Saudi long-list candidate, “Wadjda” by Haifaa al-Mansour, is an avowedly feminist movie about a young girl’s quest to own a bicycle in the ultra-conservative Muslim kingdom where women are deprived of many rights, among them driving.

Directed by Saudi Arabia’s first female filmmaker and shot entirely in the Gulf state, the film won best Arabic feature award at the Dubai Film Festival last year and picked up an award in Cannes in March.

Numm – Last Episode!

0

The emotional expressions I saw emerging on my face while watching the last episode: Ummm yes you guessed it right – NONE! Nothing, absolutely nothing in this whole episode was good enough to move you & no factors contributed at all. Rather the only word I was left with when the episode in fact the drama ended was CLUELESS!

The whole purpose of this episode, as it looked was just to make sure that Neelam & her equally expressionless mother do get to know the reality of Qasim & who he took the texture of his hair after – yes, Mahjabeen was guilty as charged for that. Once again I’d say that the direction failed to impress completely plus even after tuning into it after a couple of episodes, I just couldn’t see any continuity in the scenes nor anything else made sense.

When a daughter in law is giving birth to the waris, the family is the first one to know about it. It looked like when Neelam went into the labour, Baray Sahab had no idea of what was happening rather he was busy recalling what Wali said about giving Mahjabeen a chunk of their property. Even after the baby was born, I hardly saw any  sign of happiness coming from Baray Sahab, rather he was busy in fixing another Vaani which Wali tried to prevent. It was shown as a family but how could they be so indifferent to one another, it was unrealistic.

I couldn’t really catch what Wali had to face the bullet for? After Baray Sahab’s statement it seemed more like someone targeted him because he got into the whole scandal of stopping Vaani but after Mahjabeen’s confession in front of Neelam, she stated that Wali took the bullet which was meant for Qasim, so who actually was after Qasim? Why did he want to kill a harmless guy who has nothing but a bush on his head? Why! I hope the avid followers of this drama do bring me out of this misapprehension if it does matter to them by the end of such a flop drama.

I didn’t really catch the look on Neelam’s mother’s face when she was at the hospital & Neelam asked her to contact Wali. No news by then had broken out about Wali’s death but the look of dismay on her face was just unnecessary in fact it was misleading. When Mahjabeen came & started speaking about how Wali died I thought it would shock everyone more but sadly his death was just another DEET they got to know of because eventually the ladies seemed more interested in knowing the reality about Qasim. It was funny seeing Neelam’s mom shed a tear after finding about Qasim in stead of crying at the misfortune that her young daughter has become a widow who just gave birth. During that whole scene I wished I could change the expressions on Neelam’s face because she looked completely annoying. Even Neelam’s anger vanished after she heard who Qasim was & it seemed she completely forgot that her husband just died.

Accha jee, what did the conversation between Neelam & Baray Sahab leave an impact on the viewers? It was nothing once again. The expressions of Mahjabeen after finding out that Baray Sahab shot himself…were just beyond my understanding. Neelam seems to have given the responsibility of her son to Mahjabeen & she goes back but why was it that she couldn’t take care of her son along with the expertise of someone who raised Neelam’s husband too? Mahjabeen was not a Vaani but the generational AYA of  The Bakht Khandaan. I really want to know when Mahjabeen said MERA WALI, did she mean Mera Miyan Wali or Mera Beta Wali? What was her context? Did they ever become husband & wife or they were just another happy mother-son duo?

In the end I do sympathize with all the followers of this drama who had to endure such a pain on weekly basis. I hope there is something which can NUMB the pain that was inflicted on you guys through NUMM.

Cheers,

Tips To Become a Good Model

0

Pakistan’s modelling industry is flourishing day by day. The freedom of media has increased the glamour and glitter in the modelling agency of Pakistan. Every month new faces come up as top models and almost after every two or three months a fashion show is organized. Although there are many small and short budget fashion shows but along with them large budget shows are also increased these days. Nowadays Pakistani fashion shows are also showcasing Indian dress designers. This is a whole new topic of culture invasion. Youngsters these days are very much interested in modelling, acting and singing. Pakistan has immense talent and now that talent is being promoted through these platforms. These articles focus on some of the tips to become a good model so that the youngsters who are interested should get a way to look up to.

Ammar-Belal-with-Models-on-Ramp1
Before starting with the tips first you have to know that are you capable enough to be a model? Do you have the perfect body postures, walking styles, height and expressions? After going through this process of self evaluation you must start off with the tips to become a good model. I collected these tips after studying the interviews of many top models and I hope they will be beneficial for everyone out there. The first tip is to always be on time for any show, shoot or interview. Punctuality is very important because it is the first impression that matters. For girls who want to pursue their career in modelling it is very necessary to take someone along with you or inform some one about the place you are going to. It is also very necessary to be fully aware of the place you are going to because there are many fake modelling agencies in Pakistan as well.

4476b59f-28a8-4664-8688-fb676aa41b70HiRes
Girls and boys who are crazy for modelling should always go prepared. You should never think that you will be provided with stuff to wear because there are places where you have to wear clothes of you own so do this preparation to be on the safe side. You should always take your instant make up kit with you. Deodorant, sunscreen, lip gloss, face powder, brush and blush are the must haves. You need to keep them with you so that if the make up artist is not given to you then you must have an alternate. In Pakistan it is necessary to get references with you. They can be of any friend who is a good model or any top photographer you know because the chances of people with references are a little higher than those who do not. You should learn to never take anything for granted and check and double check on every deal you do, every contract you sign because things can go wrong in this industry at any time.

ASmartModelIsAGoodModel2
Make contacts. Try to interact with as many people as you can, make new friends, exchange numbers and remember that for being successful in this industry you have to be social. At the same time do not trust anyone so fast. Talk to everyone and be good but do not show your weak points at all. Act smart and confident that is the key to everything you do. Another important tip is for those models that at the beginning of their careers do whatever they are offered. This is definitely not right. You should learn to make smart choices. If you think you are not comfortable in doing something then you should not do it because it will definitely do not end up being good. Go with your brain not your heart because brain makes smarter choices and in modelling the game is just about right choices at the right time.

210112705666-640x480
You should always have enough cash with you so that you don’t have to borrow because it doesn’t look good. You must show everyone that you do not depend on a person and you can do things on your own. An important thing that every model should have in mind is that modelling is a business and there is loss and profit in every business so you should be prepared. Apart from this you should have the ability to negotiate the prices with employers regarding your deals. You should never be rude with any employer because you never know what offers he can give you in the future. A model should keep in mind all the possibilities for a successful career ahead. It is very important to make a deal in written form because verbal agreements are often cancelled and no one can do anything about it. These are some important tips for youngsters who want to excel in the field of modelling. Do not forget to share your point of view and suggestions.

Emerging Actresses

0

On one hand we have actresses like Saba Qamar, Sanam Baloch, Ayza Khan, Sanam Saeed, Syra Yosuf, Ayesha Khan and Mehwish Hayat who aren’t only stunning and elegantly beautiful but are superb actresses as well and every one of these actresses have proved their worth by giving top notch performances repeatedly. On the other we have rising stars that have a long way to go.

1. Sanam Jung

Sanam Jung has won the hearts of viewers with her innocent looks and angels eyes. Her splendidly wonderful acting in DeM was appreciated lot. Even though it is too soon to be judgmental about her, it appears she will prove to be one of the best actresses of her era (all of it depends on her versatility and choice of characters).

sanam jung 4

2. Mansha Pasha

Mansha Pasha though relatively new in this field is a very refined actress and way better than many of her contemporaries. Unfortunately she hadn’t been able to bag any central character yet.

Mansha_Pasha_10
3. Sana Javed

Sana Javed stands out amongst her contemporaries in the regard that in her very short career she has shown versatility. Her serials Meenu ka Susral, Pyare Afzal and Ranjish hi Sahi all have diverse characters and present forth her abilities to tackle completely different roles. Her acting falters a bit at some points however she is improving steadily and we might see someday in the list of very refined actresses.

sana javed
4. Ushna Shah

Ushna Shah has bagged important roles in the three plays she has worked in namely Mere Khawabon ka Diya, Shehr e Yaran and Rukhsar. I haven’t watched much of her work but she seems to be a promising talent of our drama industry.

ushna
5. Sana Khan

Sana Khan another rising actress is though a model but she gained fame from her debut serial Parchaiyan and proved her acting skills in Ranj e Aashnai. She is currently appearing in Rukhsar.

6. Maya Ali

Every second drama now seem to have Maya Ali in it, I somehow fail to understand why. Her monotonous acting, poor dialogue delivery and lots of screeching make her rather annoying. It is unfair that some average actresses manage to grab a lot many major roles and some very good actresses are always stuck with side roles.

Pakistani-Model-Maya-Ali-Biography-0019
7. Mira Sethi

Mira Sethi’s debut play Silvatein wasn’t a hit despite having most necessary ingredients for a hit serial (cast, writer, production house etc.). One of the reasons (among many) for failing to make an impression can be weak acting of Mira Sethi and Daniyal Raheel, both failed to impress the audience. (savethechimps.org) Mira Sethi is now appearing in Mohabat Subah ka Sitara, hope she will get better gradually.

These emerging actresses are in the process of paving their paths in showbiz and they will definitely reach the heights of stardom like their predecessors. Good luck to all of them.

An interview with Meesha Shafi

0

Meesha Shafi is a talented name in Pakistan Film fraternity. She is a model, an actor, a singer and a famous face of Pakistan. She is proud daughter of Saba Hameed. She has been interviewed to reveal the artistic side of her personality and here is what she has to say.

Untitled

Where were you schooled?

I went to the Toddlers’ Academy for preschool and then Lahore Grammar School till I gave my A levels and graduated from there.

Were you involved in any sports during your school days?

I was extremely athletic throughout school. I’m very passionate about a lot of sports and love exercise and being physically active. I was on pretty much every team and was a competitive swimmer and a gold medalist in diving.

How were you approached to represent L’oreal Paris as the official spokesperson in Pakistan? What factors did you consider in making this decision, if any?

It was a very easy decision to make. I admire and respect what L’oreal Paris stands for. Their image and philosophy are something I am proud to be a spokesperson for because I too believe that beauty is more than just what you see, it is about substance, talent, accomplishment and doing all with grace and self assurance.” Because you’re worth it”

After being chosen out of a population of 170 million people to represent the World’s leading beauty brand, do you feel you have come a long way in your profession?

I definitely feel extremely flattered. It gives me great pride to represent the world’s largest beauty brand and to know that they chose me to communicate to thousands of beautiful women across the country. Yes, I most certainly feel that I’ve come a long way. This is a huge and very exciting achievement.

Tell us a bit about your work as a model and a musician?

As a model, I have set standards for myself from day one. There is a lot of work I say no to. I don’t want to compromise on quality. I’ve tried to do consistently outstanding projects, be it print, ramp or commercial work. Up until now, I can safely say that I look back at the work I’ve done and am proud of it. No regrets. It’s not easy to do, because nobody likes saying no to money and work. But my standards are something I do not compromise on. Music is a brand new horizon for me. I am loving the feedback and appreciation so far. The first album with Overload is full of chances. We produced, wrote and released what we as artists like. The response has been overwhelming. Again, we didn’t think too much about what sells and what would be commercially desirable. Instead, we followed strict quality and aesthetic control and made music we believe in.

How difficult is it in your opinion to balance your personal life with your professional life, as sometimes it can be difficult for a working woman?

It works like clockwork for me. I have grown up watching a mother who runs an excellent household, is a big, successful celebrity and she takes all challenges in her stride. All you need is a little support and I am now married into a very encouraging and understanding family. I’ve been lucky to learn from the best and end up in a family full of artists just like my own.

What defines beauty and glamour in your opinion?

Grace and dignity. A woman who goes through life with poise and charm, all the while hurdling the obstacles that come her way, is beautiful. Glamour is the perfect sugar-coating that any beautiful woman has the right to don herself with. Dressing up, makeup, hair, colour, scents, all these are a woman’s territory. When done well, a glamorous woman is a spectacular sight.
Beauty has very few boundaries; everyone is beautiful in one way or another. Some people can be beautiful to me just for the way they think, what they have to say or how they treat those around them. Other than physical beauty, there are many ways to win the hearts of people. Glamour on the other hand, does have a lot to do with style, whether it be understated or very out there. It has to do with what you are expressing through being very elaborate or polished in your appearance, be it your face, the clothes you wear or even just the way you carry yourself through a crowd. But with glamour, I feel you have to have a certain degree of self awareness and a grounded sense of what works for you, since being glamorous is rarely subtle, it can quite often go horribly wrong.

How do you feel being part of L’oreal Paris?

It’s extremely flattering to be approached by such a prestigious company, to be part of a list of beautiful, dynamic and highly talented names from around the world. I’m thrilled to be one of the first brand spokespeople from Pakistan. It’s a big honour and an association that I’m immensely proud of.

Do you have any personal goals you hope to achieve by being the brand spokesperson for L’oreal Paris, how do you want to utilise this platform?

I would love to use this opportunity to help people become more confident about how they look, beauty is all about enjoying what God has given you, feeling good, being positive and surrounding each other with happy vibes. L’oreal Paris is a brand which celebrates beauty and gives everyone a chance to feel good, look good and think well. Through their constant innovation and hundreds of patented breakthroughs, they bring you closer to realising what works for you, giving you customised care and thousands of options for your needs. I want to bring their message of celebrating beauty at any age, any colour and in every human being to the masses. Because You Are Worth It!

What is the most thrilling or challenging aspect of being part of the largest cosmetic and beauty brand in the world?

The most thrilling aspect of being a part of L’oreal Paris is what they represent. They represent self empowerment, confidence and growth. These are essential for any individual, and with the position of being brand spokesperson for L’oreal Paris comes a chance to inspire people to embrace their inner beauty and the way they look. It’s challenging only because our nation gives little attention to the way the dress and take care of their bodies, skin, hair etc. But it’s a big step in the right direction and I’m honoured to be on board.

To what extent do you think you can represent Pakistani culture and beauty being a L’oreal Paris brand spokesperson?
The extent to which Pakistani culture and beauty can be represented is limitless. There is so much tradition, rich culture, exotic beauty and talent that we have to offer and the world doesn’t have a clue. We have it all, all we need is to promote it, and with a patron as big as L’oreal Paris, we can actually achieve that. As their brand spokesperson, I see the true image of Pakistan as a vibrant, colourful, young nation finally being put across to not just the rest of the world, but to other Pakistani’s who seem to not realise their true potential.

Considering the problems the country is facing today, do you think you can use this platform to send a positive message across internationally?

It is most certainly the perfect platform to encourage the many suppressed women of our country and make them realize their potential. As spokesperson for L’oreal Paris, I hope to communicate to women that they need to realize and embrace their worth.

If you were to pick a charitable cause, which one would you pick?

Most probably CARE. They have been doing a brilliant job for so many years educating and helping the less fortunate. I’m a big fan. And what our people need first and foremost, is good schooling.

You have garnered so much success and acclaim in your field, what would your message be for the young women of our country?

Believe in yourself, but don’t ever compromise on your dignity or principals. If people around you are holding you back from something you know you’re good at, do not give in. Life is bigger than what your boyfriend likes or dislikes and what your parents want you to be. If you have a talent or potential to excel in something, don’t care what people say. But remember, work is work. It is trying, tiring, difficult and frustrating. No shortcuts. That is, if you want to stand out.

I hope you guys must have enjoyed the interview. Please don’t forget to vote the article and drop your comments beneath

Kabhi Kabhi – Episode 14!

0

Good that the story is moving forward but not happy about where it is going. It may get rational but what I don’t understand is a bunch of manipulative skanks shown in this drama, I mean is it really necessary that everyone has to be manipulative?

All this while I thought Rehbar would avenge for going bankrupt but he seems to have forgotten about it quite conveniently. I thought Eeshal would soon find out that how her husband & in laws were treated on the day of Baraat but she never got a chance of it. Well I think if they show something of that sort it means that the things will eventually be told when it requires but surprisingly Eeshal never got to know of it. I think to make things secrets is quite lousy & all that not-telling-the-truth manner does not help either. I just want to understand does it really happen? Clearly our dramas these days are based on the ‘so-called’ reality so how is it possible that no one gets to know what’s happening in this drama, with them or with people around them?

Eeshal’s character was ONE positive thing in the drama but sadly it has come down to a point where she seems totally immature. I think she was good enough initially when she had enough of a mind to see things through but sadly she has stopped doing it. All I see is her whining & running to her Daddy for how she is growing out of that marriage. I don’t even agree with Arez for being rude to her because he knows where she comes from & he has expected & seen her do every thing be it dealing with her cunning in-laws or doing the household chores which she never did before but when it comes to her family, Arez is being mean & doesn’t want to extend the respect or be considerate in dealing with her or her family even though he knows Eeshal only expects that.

I quite don’t understand that in Eeshal’s home…does no one really hear the door bell? Because every time if someone comes or leaves, no one finds out about it. Eeshal already had a loud spat with Arez in her home but later when she was walking in the lawn, we saw the dumbest Eva come asking her when did she arrive. Similarly when Arez’s mom & sister came to meet her, Eeshal never showed up. I am wondering how big or sound-proof their home is, or may be they lack basic ethics to show up whenever a guests comes to their house.

I thought the decency of the show would stay intact but sorry Eeshal’s father & his plans are downright ridiculous & beyond anyone’s imagination. No father of a pregger’s daughter would plan something so hideous just because he detests the choices made by his daughter. It is just so not on. Even Arez comes across as a guy without spine because he knows his wife’s expecting & still he has left her to be on her own. Rehbar may be trying to patch things up between them but still it was useless given the rigidness both Eeshal & Arez have shown.

To me every single person in this drama looks like someone else’s puppet. Eva is Rehbar’s. Shoaib is Eeshal’s father’s. Soni’s mother is her puppet. Eeshal is also a puppet of her father. Soni’s a puppet of Sunny. Get a life people & show some minds of your own.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Shooting of film Bin Roye Aansoo completed in USA

Humayun Saeed has returned back to Pakistan after a one and half month long trip of USA. Print media was constantly reporting that Humayun is taking part in shooting of his home production film ‘Man of the Match’. On return to Pakistan Humayun has confirmed shooting of the film, but the film name is ‘Bin Roye Aansoo’ instead of ‘Man of the Match’. Also Bin Roye Aansoo is produced by Sultana Siddiqi not by Humayun Saeed.

Humayun further cleared that preparation for his home production ‘Afraatafri’ is in progress and its shooting will commence next year in Bangkok, Thailand. ‘Bin Roye Aansoo’ is a famous novel written by Farhat Ishtiaq who earlier wrote the block buster drama Humsafar. It is also adapted for a drama with same name by Hum TV. Reviewit has already reported that alongwith drama Bin Roye Aansoo will be also be released as a film and same has been now confirmed by Humayun Saeed. Mohabbat Subha Ka Sitara Hai – Episode 2

0

This episode belonged to Mansha Pasha; she owns the character she is playing completely. I actually wanted to fast forward the rest of the scenes just to watch her outshine every other character and actor in the play. Honestly speaking, I never thought she would impress me with her acting the way she has; her performance comes as a very pleasant surprise and her scenes are a breath of fresh air. You can’t help but laugh at all that Aalia has to say. I must add that the dialogues are very witty too but maybe they wouldn’t have been given so much meaning if someone else was performing this character. Kudos to Mansha Pasha for embodying this role perfectly and putting in her best in it.

Now coming to our heroine Romaissa; Sanam Jung has the most innocent face and eyes that can make your heart melt. Romaissa is the dream girl of every young man because she is pretty and of course very docile. But Romaissa is not the kind of girl who will agree to everything that her khala asks her to do and neither does she underestimate her abilities. She refuses to work in a factory because she knows that she is capable of much more. Even though Aalia keeps on telling her that she has “ustani” written all over her face!

msksh2

The viewers were introduced to Nabeel’s family today. Nabeel is the generous, hardworking son who is the apple of his parents’ eye. Mikaal played a similar character in Mirat-ul-Uroos as well. The introduction to Nabeel’s character could have been slightly better. There were times when I thought that every conversation was forcefully being directed towards Nabeel but I guess that could not be helped. Zeeshan’s (Adeel Hussain) wife wants Nabeel to marry one of her friends probably because of the same reason that everyone else wants to be in Nabeel’s good books! The whole car issue was blown out of proportion and yes that reminded me of Mirat-ul-Uroos too! Nabeel seemed to be the only “useful” person in the family.

msksh5

Farah Shah was not as loud as she was in the last episode but very convincing as the loud, annoying and greedy khala. The khala does have a soft corner for Romaissa and also trusts her with her eyes closed. That is something that was evident from the fact that she did not doubt Romaissa’s intentions for a second when Sajjid asked to marry her.

msksh6

I have to say that I found the loud household of Khala G very entertaining; or maybe it is more like enjoy it while you can because once Aalia is out of the picture, the story will get very serious. Sanam Jung plays the naive girl effortlessly but it is Mansha Pasha who adds colors to this play. Now only if she could stay in the picture till the end.

msksh8

The scenes in which Romaissa thinks of all the things her father told her about coupled with her attempts to watch the morning star have been very well directed and beautifully shot. I really enjoyed tonight’s episode mainly because of Mansha Pasha. But the fact that I have been unable to feel anything for Romaissa’s character other than thinking that she is very cute means that there is something wrong with the play. A supporting actor/character should support the main lead and not overshadow them because if they do so then the audience takes time to connect with the main lead.

The iron ladies – Female Anchors

0

This fact can’t be denied that years have gone when Pakistani females can be seen in some particular areas (dramas, serials etc) on television. Today, women are stronger than before. They know they can prove themselves in a variety of genres, one of the most popular being “anchoring”. I can recall old days when there were a handful of television channels broadcasting current affairs talk-shows. Most of them being dominated by male anchors but then a new era emerged, when women also started to pursue the field of anchoring. Being the anchor of talk-show which is based on the current affairs of the state is a big deal because it involves not only great efforts to compile the research matter but also it is one of the most time-consuming jobs. Nevertheless, our females have nailed it and Pakistan has produced a good number of these females which are successfully delivering their best in this area of Pakistan Media Industry. Some of the most popular anchors are:

1. Jasmine Manzoor:

Untitled

Who doesn’t know Jasmine Manzoor. It won’t be wrong to put here that she is the most aggressive female anchor in Pakistan. She is not only an anchor and a journalist but also a blogger.

Jasmine did her Masters in International Relations. She has been working as an anchor since 1999. Her famous show “Tonight with Jasmine” on SAMAA T.V started in March 2010. Jasmeen has also made documentaries on various subjects and has received four awards for her outstanding work, one of which was the Benazir Excellence Award for Best Female Anchor in Pakistan in 2009. She is a powerful female current affairs anchor

2. Mehar Abbasi @ Mehar Bukhari:

Untitled

Meher is brave and sharp. She knows everything about Pakistani politics and knows how to get to the point. She worked as a host on Dunya News, in a program “Cross Fire with Meher Bukhari”. Currently she is doing “News Eye with Meher Abbasi” on DAWN News. In this program, she interviews Pakistani politicians, and talks about the current affairs in Pakistan. In November 2011, Meher married ARY News current affairs talk show anchor Kashif Abbasi

3. Asma Shirazi:

Untitled

Born in Islamabad, Asma Shirazi has a Postgraduate Degree in Political Science. Asma Shirazi started her career with the media industry in 2001. She has substantial experience as a news reporter and program anchor. She started her career from GEO T.V and after some years she switched to A.R.Y Group. After working for years with A.R.Y Group (hosting current affair shows etc), she joined SAMAA in July 2010 and where she hosted a weekend program ‘Faisla Aap Ka’. These days she is doing a talk show called “Faisla Awam ka” on DAWN News.

4. Sidra Iqbal:

Untitled

Sidra Iqbal is also my personal favorite anchor. She is not just a journalist and an anchor but also one of the celebrated youth icon. Sidra is a prominent television broadcaster in Pakistan since 2006 and has a number of signature shows, productions and momentous coverages to her credit. Her shows have featured a number of VIP guests from Heads of States, Policy makers, corporate heads and celebrated popular icons. Sidra especially enjoys a country-wide strong youth fanbase, who keenly follow her comment and advice on youth issues and self empowerment.

In July 2012, Sidra became the first Pakistani anchorperson to host the official digital platforms of the International Indian Film Awards 2012 (IIFA), the mega Bollywood extravaganza of immense global popularity in Singapore, a project that expanded Sidra’s fans base across borders.

Her popular talk-shows on P.T.V are “Insight” and “Spot-light”

These iron ladies of our media are doing exceptionally well and they are the ones who possess the capability to fight for the right of common Pakistani by showcasing basic and core issues  in front of the elected representatives of the state and trying to resolve them. These young ladies address the real issues of our country and try to fight it. There are other female individuals as well who are trying to give their best in this field but the ones mentioned above have earned good name as well which must be considered as a payoff of their hard work.

We wish them best of luck.

Meera Returns in the News Again For Her General Knowledge

0

Meera has had been in the news often for her not-so-good English skills previously but what comes as a surprise this time is her general knowledge about her country. While talking to media in a press conference, the actress confidently declared Allama Iqbal to be the poet of the Pakistani national anthem which has somehow forced the anchors of all channels to use this news as a resource.

She has been complaining from the audience about the jokes which are been cracked on her personal life, including her English and political skills, she was generous enough to state that she has not taken anything on heart by now.

See this video here:

Meera also lately declared that she hates English and loves her native language only. Apart from being in news for such controversies, Meera is busy with upcoming projects and is really happy with the business which her last movie ‘Ishq Khuda’ generated.

We wish the lady more power but it would be really great if she at least revises the basic knowledge about her country, after all, it has nothing to do with English in particular.

Entertainment Media’s Role in Spreading Hopelessness

0

Presenting something on screen is a way to familiarize audience with certain situations and people can relate their problems with what they see on the screens along with entertainment. Life is a bumpy ride but bumps are always followed by smooth path. Conversely our drama makers seem to have forgotten that the happy times are also part of life. The fact that we step into the shoes of characters and relate with them makes them timeless and unforgettable. But these remarkable characters and dramas which are always constituted by joyous moments of life always accompanied by gloom and sorrows have lately been substituted by drawbacks and demerits of a society.
What we see on screen is a complicated web of deceit, fraud, debauchery, dishonesty, deception and wickedness. These things are rampant in our society and news channels are doing their part of creating awareness of the crucial circumstances, entertainment channels have no need to join hands with them in this sacred task. Contrarily entertainment channels or majority of the dramas are spreading despair and hopelessness in society by focusing on bitter realities of life. These issues cannot be evaded and they should be portrayed on screen but to a certain extent, excess of these sufferings and social flaws are further adding into the depression and pessimism created by news channels. Apathy replaces empathy and resultantly individuals become indifferent to the sufferings of others.

ss

Apart from this dramas like Kadurat and Darmiyan (probably inspired from Revenge series) are setting a trend for a new genre of dramas. Revenge and vengeance has been central issue of many dramas in the past but none has gone to extremes like these two. Dramas are not reality but they are a reflection and representation of reality and they influence people in ways the dramas makers cannot even imagine.

A lot many people have altogether stopped watching entertainment channels as well because we seldom see a lighthearted and easygoing drama. By this I don’t mean comedy shows, and honestly the sitcoms now days are even worse than gravely serious dramas. The realities of life doesn’t necessarily have to be horrible and nasty, they can also be elaborated in the form of loving parents-caring and obeying children, beautiful and affectionate relation instead of sister-friend rivalries, a happily married couple, a motherly mother-in-law for change (the kind of Seher’s is Shak) and what is more endearing than adorable bro-sis relation but what we see is usually are arrogant, demanding brothers and self-sacrificing sisters. There is a desperate need for positive and progressive aspects of these relations.

The happy and content moments also have their stories, it is the duty of the drama makers and particularly writer to dig and create blissful stories as well without spreading despair and hopelessness.

Do share your opinions.

Sneak peek into Atif Aslam’s stardom

0

Who doesn’t know Atif Aslam. He is “THE PAKISTANI GUY”. Lets have a sneak peek into his journey to stardom.

Untitled

Student Life and “JAL”:

Atif attended high School at PAF College, Lahore, where he played Kabaddi and became interested in music.

He attended Punjab Institute of Computer Science (PICS) to do his Bachelors in Computer Science (BCs).

It was at PICS, Lahore that he met guitarist and talented young composer, Gohar Mumtaz. This lead to performances at their college and at various restaurants eventually pushing the pair into finding a name for their subtly formed band, which they named “Jal” – which means water.

Working together, the pair recorded the song Aadat (with the help of Salman Albert, amongst other established and accomplished Pakistani musicians). It became popular on a host of promotional Pakistani music websites.
The music video for Aadat was shot one day in a warehouse in Karachi. On the base of this one song, “Jal” began their tour of Pakistan—such was the strength of “Aadat”.

Atif leaving “JAL”:

However, whilst on tour, personal problems led to a verbal bust-up resulting in an unannounced and indefinite hiatus, during which Atif launched his solo career. Atif Aslam, after leaving Jal, released a new solo album, Jal Pari (meaning “Mermaid”) which was a big hit.

The Songs Woh Lamhey, Dil Haarey and few others were smash hits on both Pakistani radio stations and Music Channels. As both the Jal, “Aadat”, and Atif’s album, Jalpari, shared certain tracks (such as “Aadat”, “Bheegi Raatein”, “Wo Lamhey”, “Ankhon se”) an unofficial war over rights began which resulted in both sides claiming to possess hard proof to support their respective claims (that, they alone owned the concerned songs).

The hype this feud gave to both Atif and the new Jal was extraordinary and split the musical nation with the fans of each side backing their respective favourite.

Atif’s voice in BOLLYWOOD:

Whilst the drama of lyrics & composition ownership continued in Pakistan, Bollywood director Mahesh Bhatt called Atif Aslam to seek his consent to include “Woh Lamhey” in the soundtrack of his new motion picture, Zeher (2005).The song (especially the remix version) became a hit.

This pattern of a slow playback song by Atif in the movie, supplemented by a remix version released for radio airplay was to become standard procedure with Atif’s songs on the Indian market.

He recorded a song for the movie Kalyug (2005), entitled Juda Hokey Bhi – a slight variation of the ever famous Aadat song.

Like with “Wo Lamhey / Bheegi Yaadein”, a slow version became the theme for the movie and part of the official soundtrack, whilst a remixed version was released to hit the radio stations and desi clubs worldwide.

After recording for Kalyug, an Irani director in Hollywood contacted Atif and within very little time, Atif recorded three songs for that same director’s Hollywood movie, Man Push Cart and was rewarded with a small cameo role in the movie.

Atif re-emerged in the subcontinent with a new track, “Tere Bin” (translation: [Without You]) for the Bollywood Movie, Bas Ek Pal (2006). The song “Tere Bin” became a hit in India and Pakistan.

It was also being considered as one of the most touching and heart melting numbers of the year 2006.

In between the copyright war and media war with Gohar ( Jal ) and recording Bollywood songs, Atif has been touring the world and working on his new album.

Atif visited various countries in Asia, Europe & The Americas which include Pakistan,Bangladesh, India, UAE, UK, Canada & America—taking his sound to the “pardesi” (expatriates of the subcontinent) worldwide.

Atif’s new album has been entitled Doorie and has released on December 2006. The songs include Maula, Doorie, Kuch is tarah, and Hum Kis Gali.

Atif’s Passion:

For his immense passion for cricket he was selected in his school team as a fast bowler. Atif cleared his 10th grade in 14 years of age with a distinctive edge that he has always been the youngest boy in the class because of his double promotions while he was in Kimberley Hall.

Atif started his HSc in PAF College Lahore. Cricket was all the times with him. He was in his college team as well where he presented his college in other cities. Beside his studies he was putting his maximum time in practicing for the professional cricket. During his college life he came across with some interest in music. His eldest brother was having a collection of more than 8,000 songs of almost all music genres.

Un-intentionally he was developing a habit of listening to this all kind of music in his house.

As a good learner he quickly grasped the control of voice but till that time he was not interested in singing, his passion was to enter in Pakistan cricket team as a fast bowler and he was right on track while practicing at the net at Shapes club Lahore where Imran Khan use to come and give tips to him for bowling.

The twist in the story comes when one day he was singing with his friends at the college canteen. His friends insisted him to participate in the singing on Independence Day celebrations at PAF College Lahore and Sargodha in 1998. He performed there and won the competition. After HSc Atif Joined Punjab Institute of Computer Science Gulberg Campus. This time studies were much more demanding as compared to the previous ones. He has to sacrifice his time for the cricket. His hobby of singing continued when he entered in the singing competition of his college There were a total of 8 participants .The media team entered atif’s name in the competition at the eleventh hour and he won the competition singing a hit number of “string” “Duur”.

He kept on winning these competitions every semester until he announced that he will not participate in next competitions so that someone else can also win the competitions. He found Goher at his college who was having good interest in Music & was a good, talented guitarist. Together they use to practice a lot and started doing mini concerts for their friend.

Atif use to sing the Junoon’s and string’s song at the concert. The volume of audience kept on increasing. They performed concerts for their college, McDonalds and some other restaurants as well. Atif recorded the legendary song “AADAT” at Mekal Hassan’s Studio. Mekal injected his professionalism in the song to make it worth listening time after time. Atif formed the band and named the band as “JAL” which means water, the essence of life.

The song got popularity on the different musical websites on Pakistan. The song was also being on aired on major Radio channels of Pakistan like FMr within just 5 months of the sale and its still continuing.

Atif’s triumph – inflow of awards:

His song Woh Lamhay fetch him the nomination as best singer for 2005 in almost all the film awards of bollywood including Film Fare Awards, Zee Cine Awards, and IIFA Awards etc. He just got nominated for Best Playback Singer (Male) for his song “Tere Bin” from movie “Bas Ek Pal” for Filmfare Awards 2007.

Some of the awards he has won include: Best playback singer, Best debut singer – Sahara Sangeet Awards (India) Winner OF Best Song Best Lyricist Best Composition – ARY Music Awards (Pakistan) Most Wanted Male – The Music Awards (Pakistan)

He has been the judge of musical shows as well and has earned a good name in India too.

After his marriage he didn’t take much of break and is still in producing more of good musical stuff.

We wish him good fortune for the upcoming projects

Situations That Ruin Our Journey

0

Whenever you travel, either it is abroad or within your own country, there are such situations that end up making your journey a really tough one. I have been traveling in Pakistan and also abroad and every time I see different people ruining my journey. This article will focus on these people, their actions and how to get rid of them. People who have had experiences like me must read and then share their opinions in the comments section below. I have spent a lot of time in traveling from one city to another and I have also been traveling abroad since three years. Daewoo buses, trains and even planes have different people in them who come with an aim to disturb others. Under circumstances like these, travelling is a challenge.

123779-686a40d0-5a4b-11e3-8eb9-1c57f26bd260
While travelling through train I have seen babies crying like anything and their mothers scolding them instead of trying to stop them. These babies not only disturb the people by not letting them sleep but they often make a normal person sick. Continuous crying noises actually result in nauseating others and this has happened to me before. Apart from this I have send families eating stuff and throwing the leftover under their seats. Like seriously is this the place to throw stuff? This results in a very bad odor all around the cabin. I have also experienced typical uneducated boys staring continuously at any girl sitting in the train. This also creates a lot of discomfort. Once something like this happened with me and I was not able to sleep the whole night in that train.

_41348452_paktrainpassafp416
While going out of Pakistan, I came through such families who are fully dressed up. Women wear matching glittery dresses and same colored shoes and dark formal makeover while men wearing a suit. I usually start laughing when I see people like them having no dressing sense. A person must always be casual while they go through the journey. I have also seen men who call the air hostess after every five minutes and this is according to me the most stupid act that I have ever seen before. My point is that when you need something you can call the air hostess but why do some people call the air hostess just to look at her? This is something that disturbs me a lot while I travel. Apart from this there are some people who disturb others by their eating habits. They eat like almost everything on the dish and then they burp and fart. That is truly ridiculous. Once an incident like this happened with me and I had to change my seat.Image-1-Kid-Kicking-Seat

Moving on to the journey through Daewoo, this is for me the most tiring journey ever. The most common disturbing actions during this journey are when some one continuously kicks your seat from the back and the never ending cell phone discussions. The act of kicking seats is common in adults and children. This act is actually done to disturb others. What I do to get rid of this disturbing act is that I point them out at that very instant. It is your job to make them aware that this is a disrespectful act. Kids who are older then 4 years I speak to them directly and if a small child is disturbing me, what I do is just that I tell his mom to take care of him. You shouldn’t be afraid to speak up to them because this is your right. More over there are times when the person sitting next to you smells really bad. At that moment what you should do is that make yourself prepared because this is something that you can’t tell him directly. If you tell him directly it would be hurtful. You can keep a small vial of organic peppermint oil and use it in these cases. Just rub some of it around your nose and you won’t smell anyone else’s odour.

IdiotonCellphone

Now coming to the people who continuously talk on phone in a high voice, what I do here again is pointing them out. I directly say that please can you keep it down. Sometimes an eye contact can also help you make that person realize his mistake. If this also doesn’t work then I walk to that person and say that can you please understand that we are trying to relax here. Remind them politely but forcefully and I am sure that they will realize. These are some of the habits that irritate me while travelling. Don’t forget to share yours.

Pyarai Afzal – Episode 4

0

Convincing yourself to choose what is right and what is wrong becomes difficult, especially when you find yourself deeply submerged into the ocean that flows against divine law.Afzal has finally transformed into Pyarai Afzal not by his looks only :p but his deeds too.. Dair se he sahi,he realized importance of his father’s teachings and his concern for him. To make sure that he won’t disappoint Maulvi SubhanAllah again,he decided to stay away from those who actually want him to be part of dark world. From Rozi to his friends, everyone is shouting – shouting and calling him to join them in but its his strong will and respect of his father that compelled him to stay away from them.

Untitled

Mehtaab Chawla is among those people that are born “Saadai” and his simplicity was the root cause of his rejection by Farah.Even after Farah made it clear that she is least interested in getting married to him,he was not taking it serious at all. I was glad to see Mehtaab Chawla today but he came for few minutes. And during those minutes, All I observed was that he was taking something else to be the cause of Farah’s rude behavior.. Maybe, something about his job or some new business and he is thinking that Farah is down because he didnot tell her ?

Lubna and Farah’s bonding make me feel so good after watching those serials that are all about sisters rivalry.Farah, even being elder, was tensed and confused about her parents reaction on her decision. And the way Lubna exaggerated the situation for Farah made me laugh out loud. In the end,it was Lubna who gave her the idea to use same weapon which she used while refusing Mehtaab’s proposal at his face but failed badly.

2

While calculating all possibilities of their father’s reaction, one thing they forgot was aftermaths of this self-created story. His father took everything seriously and instead of dealing the situation harshly,he dealt with the situation calmly and with relaxed mind as he knew that its millennium generation and he can expect worst from her daughter on being asked to compromise.

3

Khwaab daikh kar agar khush hona ghair Islami hai tou ab se nahi daikhu ga..

So, the letters story was finally unfolded today. Afzal,in cute and convincing tone, made his sister realize that its his dream of which he talks about. Not clearly, but he told that there is not any girl in his life except his dream of having her in life.

Rozi took it as her insult when Afzal ignored her as he knew her intentions.Rozi put lame accusations at Afzal that were supported by Changezi Saheb too, merely because he saw them together in car.Afzal met his comapny’s head(Farah’s father) and justified himself very calmly- he proved that they are all allegations and nothing more than that.

4

I absolutely love the way with which every scene is connected to the other in this show.Haisyet mai larka kam ziada ho tou chalay ga.. magar character or family par mai compromise nahi karunga. . Farah’s father made it clear about his demands from the guy when his wife told him that Farah is interested in someone else.

And then,

Mairai abba ne kaha ho ga k mera beta acha larka nahi hai, match par jooa khailta hai, awaara dostoun mai beth kar chars k cigarette peeta hai laken unhu ne ye nahi kaha ho ga k mera beta kisi larki ke aabroo ka ehtaraam nahi karta…bus yehi aik burayi nahi hai merai mai..or shayed issi burayi k bharosay merai abba merai saarai gunah muaf kar daitai hain..!

On being insulted by Farah’s father,Afzal’s justification was enough for him to get familiar of his character..Afzal left the job because this time he was charged for something that he never thought to do.I hope it will be enough for my readers to predict that how this story will shape up in future.. :P

Farah and Lubna’s dressing always add too many colors to the screen that makes a scene much more pleasant to watch. By far, story is shaping up well, dots are connected up to the mark and we are now completely familiar with the insight of every character. This was another one of well packaged episode.

I would love to read your opinion about this week’s episode.

Un ki ahleya rabia nauman nay bhi chand dramaon mein adakaari ki aur apni salahiton ko aazmaya lekin uss kaay baad gharelo masroofiyat ki wajah say showbiz ko khairbaad keh diya. Garchay nauman kehtay hain key meray waledain mujhey doctor banana chahtay they kyon un dinon teen chaar hi aisay peshay thay jinhain log apnay career kaay taur per apnanay ko tarjeeh detay they aur medical kaa shoba unn mein say aik thha. Nauman aur rabia kay teen betay hain jin ki shraratain dekhnay say taaluq rakhti hain.. haal hi mein is khoobsurat joray say un kay bachon samait mulaqat ki is doraan honay waali guftugu paishay khidmat hai

Q: showbiz mein aamad shoq kaa nateeja hai?

NE: mera yaqeen hai kaay hum wohi kaam accha kar saktay hain jis kay liye hamain banaya gaya hota hai mein aap ko bataoon mujhey news caster ban-nay kaa choq thaa aur acting kee to koi planning hi nahin kit hi balkay bilkul ittefaqiya is field mein aa gaya.

Mein jo kucch bhi hoon apni taleem ki wajah say hi hoon

Q: kis kay kaam nay mutaasir kiya

NE: hamaray haan koi academy nahin hai jahan say hum acting seekh sakain lekin humaray paas seniors ki soorat mein itna zarkhaiz sarmaya mojood hai kay agar hum fayeda uthayen to hamaray naye funkaron ko apnay kaam mein koi kami nahin millay gee, mein nay acting duleep kumar yaa shahrukh say nahin seekhhi balkay hamaray paas dunya kaay qabil funkar mojood hain . mein nay shafi Muhammad aur talat hussain jesay funkaron kay sath kaam kartay huway un kay kaam ki oonch neech ko dekha unki performance kay style aur craft say apnay kaam kay liye raastay mutayeen kiye

Q: TV industry mein kiya kami mahsoos kartay hain

NE: meray mutabiq agar TV industry thori si munazim ho jaye to yeh zyada khush-hal ho jaye gi. Aaj kal private productions kaa riwaaj aam ho gaya hai lekin iska matlab hargiz bhi yeh nahin hai kay private productions kaa meiyarbohat aala hai balkay unka tareeqa kaar bhi tasali bakhsh nahin hai aur yeh industry kayliye nihayat nuksaan deh hai . industry kaa har shaks sirf shohrat aur naam haasil karnay kay peechhay hai jiski wajah say asal fun kay liye mohabbat aur seekhhnay kaa jazba khatam ho gaya hai

Q: filmon mein bhi aap nay qismat aazmayee ki lekin phir doori ki kya wajah hai

NE: humari industry ka bohat bara almiya hai kay hamaray haan acchi filmain nahin banteen ab bohat shor utth raha hai kay meiyaari filmain ban-na shru ho gayeen hain  yeh chand project hain industry to waheen ki waheen hai hamari filmain kin logon aur kis class kay liye banti hain koi nahin jaanta acchi film banay to zuroor kaam karon gaa. Ab hum itnay seniors to hain kay kam az kam kaam kaay hawalay say hum apnay shayeeqeen ko kiya dikha rahay hain uskay chunao mein samajhdaari kaa muzaahira karain

Q:production kay meiyaari honay mein kiya aiham hai paisa yaa qabliyat

NE: industry ki baqa aur taraqi kay liye meiyaari qabliyat ki zaroorat hai lekin iss kay liye bohat saari maali imdaad bhi zaroori hai jissay hum nazar andaaz kartay hain agar adakaaron ko unki mehnat kay mutabiq muawza millay to who bhi apnay kaam mein mazeed jaan daalnay ki koshish karain gay

Q: fazool kharch hain yaa kanjoos

NE: is ka inhisaar iss baat per hai kay meray paas pesay kitnay hain kyonke agar meray paas faalto paisay hone to mein dil khhol kay kharach karta hoon aur agar pesay hisab kitab kaay hon to bohat soch samajh kay kharach karta hoon kyon kaay meray biwi bachay hain zimadaarian hain bhai ghar bhi sambhalna ho to khud hi kharach per control ho jaata hai

Q: showbiz mein naa hotay to

NE: to jo mein wikaalat parhi hai who kar raha hota

Q: pehli job kiya kit hi kitna check mila aur kesay kharach kiya

NE: jab Lahore mein horse and cattle show laga karta thaa to uss mein aik baar mein nay aik stall lagaya thaa zindagi ki pehli job to yeh thi. Showbiz ki pehli job jesay mein nay bataya kay 50 seconds kaa aik scene kiya thaa jiskaay 1500 rupaay milay they aur unkay kharach honay kaa to pata bhi nahin chala thaa moj masti mein ura diye thay.

Q: kabhi kisi funkar yaa saathi adakaar say jalan mehsoos huwi

NE:khuda ka shukar hai khuda nay mujhey khwahish aur soch say bhi zyada nawaza hai. Mein nay kabhi  bhi is darja izzat aur shohrat ka tasawur nahin kiya tha jitni khuda nay muhey di hai aur us ki wajohaat mein say shayed bari wajah yehi hai ke mein apnay kaam say kaam rakhhnay wala aadmi hoon kabhi kissi say jalan ka tasawar nahin kar sakta

Q: Pakistani dramon mein bharti culture kay khilaaf aawaz kyon nahin utthatay

NE: hum funkar jo is trend ko ghalat samajhtay hain woh zyada se zyada yehi kar saktay hain kay aisay dramon mein kaam na karain meray dramon kay baaray mein aap aisa nahin keh sakteen kay woh star plus sey mutaasir yaa mutaasira dikhhayee detay hain. Asal mein hum log takhleeqi kaam say bhaagtay hain jo kaam kiya huwa mil jaye yaa jis kaam per zyada mehnat naa karni paray ussay chalatay huway accha mehsoos kartay hain. Jesay ab hamain imported dramon ki bemaari lag gayee hai to aisay bukhaar hamain charhtay rehtay hain aur khushi ki baat yeh hai kay utartaay bhi rehtay hain. Isliye mein yeh keh sakta hoon kay hamara drama bohat strong hai, yahan kisi ki chhaap mustaqil nahin lag sakti. Asal beymari bari taadaad mein non professionals say bharay channels hain, jin ko kaam ka pata hi nahin hai. Mein nay apnay career ki ibtida mein in logon kay saath kaam kiya hai unn logon say seekha hai jin kay naam sun kar aaj bhi rongtaay kharray ho jaatay hain ab to tv ka meiyaar chal chalao waala ho gaya hai. Jub hum apni khaamiyan door kar lain gay to khud bakhud hi bhaarti culture jesi bemaariyon say hamain nijaat mil jaye gee

Q: aap yahan bohat kaamyaab hain, khobsurat hain aik behtreen hero kay meiyaar per pooray utartay hain aapko bhaarti filmon ya dramon say koi offer ho rahi hai ya nahin

NE: (hanstay huway) meri samajh say bahir hai kay log kesay munh bhar kay keh detay hainkay ji mujh sey falan Indian producer ya director naa raabta kiya hai, itnay saalon mein mujhey to kissi nay nahin kaha kay bhai tumharay baghair humari industry adhoori hai, yahan chalay aaoo, humaray funkaar khud wahan jootiyan chatkhanay jaatay hain, jo kamyab ho jaatay hian unko mein isliye sirahon gaa kaay wahan itnay muqablay ki fizza mein bhi who apna naam aur muqaam banana mein kamyaab ho gaye hain. Is mein haraj koi nahin hai agar funkar doosray mulkon mein jaa kar kaam karain lekin afsoos tsb hota hai jab hum apnay asal per samjhotay ker letay hain.

Q: manfi roles aapki zindagi mein zyada hotay jaa rahay hain iss kay peechhay kiya moharkaat hain

NE: mein aik funkaar hoon, har tarah kay roles kar raha hoon, jo producer yeh samajh kar mujh say raabta karta hai kay mein manfi kirdaar ada karkay munfarid lag sakta hoon, mein bas uskay eitmaad per poora utarta hoon. Logon nay meray munfi kirdaron say bhi itni hi mohabat ki hai jitney meray musbat chehron say, hamaray samaj mein manfi chehray bohat zyada ho gaye hain, isliye logon ko unsay bachanay kay liye zaroori hai kay hum tv ko bator mazboot medium istimaal karain iss say behtari aaye gi

Q: comparing ka shoq kesay ho gaya

NE: mein program mazaq raat ko bohat enjoy kar raha hoon, is tarah bohat say logon say mulaqat bhi ho jaati hai aur hansi hansi mein gehri baatain bhi ho jaati hain, humari poori team bohat acchi hai. Jub mujh say is program kayliye raabta kiya gaya to mein aam routine ka program nahin kar sakta thha jesay aaj kal har channel per funkaar lagay huway hain isliye script parha to mujhey munfarid laga aur mein nay haami bhar li. Idea bhi hit ho gaya to bas program chal para. Mein mukhtalif tarah kaay kaam karna chahta hoon aur jab tak ho rahay hain karta rahoon gaa

Q: jo ab tak kar chukay hain unn mein say favorite character

NE: mein kaam enjoy karta hoon acting meray liye bohat aiham hai isliye mein nay apna poora kaam hamesha baray dil aur pyar say kiya hai, khawah aik scene ka character ho yaa pooray serial ka sab kirdaar mein nay imaandaari aur khushi say nibhaye hain, kissi aik kaa intekhab nahin kar sakta.

Q: chhuti ka din kesay guzartay hain

NE: family kaay saath waqt guzaarta hoon aur agar koi kaam naa ho to poora din bistar say hi nahin nikalta kyonke family kay saath guzarnay kayliye aur pooray haftay kaay kaam karnay kay liya ak hi din milta hai

Q: koi aisa lamha jo aap zindagi bhar nahin bhula saktay

NE:hab meri shaadi huwi aur mein nay nikah naama per sign kiye yeh who lamha hai jo mein kabhi nahin bhula sakta aur jab meray bachay huway to teenon ki pedayesh ka har lamha mujhey yaad hai

Guftugo kay iss mor per jab nauman ejaz hamain industry ki khoobiyon aur khaamiyon say agaah kar rahay thhay to nauman kis begum mrs raabia bhi humari guftugu mein shaamil ho huween, jis say baat nauman ki professional life say zaati zindagi ki taraf mur gayee. rabia aur nauman kay darmiyan zehni hum ahangi aur aik doosray ko jan-nay ki silayeehat doosron per bohat jald ayaan ho jaati hai.

Hum nay unn say unko chhoti si khoobsorat love story sun-nay ki khwahish ka izhar kiya

Q:pehli mulaqat kab aur kesay huwi

Rabia Nauman: mein jab pehli baar nauman say mili to mein uss waqt college mein parhti thi colledge ki drama society nay inko aik Q&A session kay liye campus mein mad-oo kiya tha aur iss nay mjhey pehli baar wahin dekha. Uss kay baad iss nay meri aik dost say mujh say yeh poochhnay kay liye kaha kay kiya yeh meray saath baat karna pasand karain gee aur mein nay nauman ki is tajweez ko mukamil tor per mustarad kar diya (hanstay huway) doosray lafzon mein, main nay issay mujh say door rehnay kay liye kaha

Nauman: jahan tak mujhey yaad hai rabia nay mujh say yehi ilfaaz kahay thay kay mujh say door raho aur yeh meray liye kaafi takleef deh baat thi lekin kahani yahen khatam nahin huwi, mein nay koshish jaari rakkhi aur aakhir shaukat kahnum kay liye aik taqreeb mein chunda jama karti rabia say yeh bhi pooch liya key kiya who mujh say shadi karay gi? Iss per rabia nay mujhey apnay waaledain say baat karnay ka kaha so mein nay unn say baat karnay ka faisla kar liya. Jab main rabia kay ghar jaanay kay liye tayaar ho raha thaa to meray dad nay mujh say poochha kay mein kahan jaa raha hoon? Mein nay unhain bataya kay mein unki honay waali bah okay ghar interview kay liye jaa raha thaa. Meray dad nay mujhey best of luck keh kar ghar se bheja. Meray ghar waalay iss baat per razamand thay key mein apni pasand ki larki say shaadi karna chahta hoon

Q: aapkay ghar walay aasani say maan gaye

Rabia: meray waalis aasani say raazi honay waalay nahin they. Isliye mein nay nauman say kaha kay main uss waqt tak iss say shaadi nahin kar sakti jab tak who koi acchi nokri naa dhoonday  kyonke meray waledain kay nazdeek acting koi mustaqil paisha nahin thaa

Nauman: (qehqaha lagaatay huway) to phir honay waalay dulhay na nokri dhoondhna shru kar di kal tak jo mera autograph maangtay thay aur mujhey chai ki paishkash kartay thay aaj mein unn say kaam maang raha tha. Akhir kar rabia ki naani amman ki madad say mujhey aik company mein bator marketing manager 15000 rupay mahwaar per nokri mil gayee. jis ka injaam yeh huwa jab hum apnay honey moon per gaye to mein nay yeh nokri chhor di kyonke mera maqsad poora ho chukka thaa

Q: showbiz kabhi wajah ikhtilaaf bana

Rabia: main inkay profession ki izzat karti hoon balkay mein nay khud bhi thora bohat kaam kiya hai to mein iss profession kay taqazay kissi had tak samajhti hoon lekin yeh bhi sach hai kay kabhi kabhaar nauman kaa kaam bara azaab-e-jaan ban jaata hai jab yeh family kay liye na honay kay brabar  waqt nikaal paatay hain . yeh hamain time denay ki behad koshish kartay hain , phir bhi kayee baar aisa hota hai kay yeh hamain time denay ki behad koshish kartay hain phir bhi kayee baar aisa hota hai key yeh hamain bohat sey dinon kay liye nazar nahin aatay lekin in tamam baton kaay bawajood hum saath bohat khush hain

Q: shohrat haazil karna zyada mehnat talab kaam hai yaa ussay qayeme rakhhna

Nauman: shohrat haasil karnay kaa baad ka safar zyada mushkil hai kyonke ab rab nay aapko aik zimadaari sonp di hai aur aap nay ussay qayeme rakhhna hai bachana hai aur uss mein izaafa karna hai

Q: bachon ki shirarton ko hans kar bardasht kar letay hain yaa daant detay hain

Rabia: nauman ki wajah sey to bachon ko qabu karna hi mushkil ho jaata hai . yeh to shirartain karwatay hain aur merin bechaari control karti karti villain ban jaati hoon

Q: donon mein say larayee jhagraa karnay ki aadat kis ko hai aur pehlay manaata kon hai

Nauman:aadatan nahin zarooratan lartay hain aur zyada mein hi manaata hoon

Rabia: hum bohat zyada nahin jhagartay, jis ki ghalati ho who mana leta hai

Q: donon mein sey zyada fazool kharach kon hai

Rabia: nauman zyada fazool kharach hain main soch samajh kar pesay kaa istimaal karti hoon

Q: kabhi nauman ki jaib say bina bataye paisay nikalay hain

Rabia: wesay is ski kabhi zaroorat hi nahin paree. Nauman zaroorat sey zayadah meri aur bachon ki zarooraton kaa khayal rakkhtay hain

Medialogic Pakistan to extend coverage of rating meters to 20 cities with assistance of Kantar Media

Medialogic Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd, the national TV ratings provider has announced a partnership with Kantar Media to enhance the TV audience measurement service in Pakistan.

Medialogic will deploy Kantar Media’s Rapid Meter technology, phasing out the current DFM (Direct Frequency Measurement) technology supplied by GfK. First unveiled at the 2011 asi TV Symposium, the Rapid Meter has been developed for emerging markets embracing futureproof measurement technology to cope with the increasing number of digital channels. Viewing habits are collected through the meter and TV data is delivered overnight using the built-in modem and GPRS connectivity.

Medialogic introduced electronic overnight TV ratings data in Pakistan in 2007 with a panel covering three cities which has gradually been expanded to nine cities and 675 households. Adopting Kantar Media’s Rapid Meter enhances plans to expand the panel to over 20 cities and 1,100 households across the nation from 2014.

Salman Danish, CEO of Medialogic commented: “We are delighted to have Kantar Media on board as our technology partner. The company’s international footprint, proven technology and research expertise is evident. We are confident that this change of technology, coupled with our panel expansion, will ensure ever-robust, comprehensive TV data that assists informed decision making for Pakistan’s media industry.”

Keld Nielsen, Global Commercial Director, Kantar Media Audiences, commented: “The growing uptake of digital channels amongst broadcasters and consumers continues to demonstrate the health of the TV industry across the world. We are excited to be part of the evolving media landscape in Pakistan, acting as technology partner to Medialogic to enable the measurement of all channels to become a reality. Our commitment to ensure our technology meets the measurement challenges of both the present and the future will ensure that the TV Ratings currency continues to form the foundation of a burgeoning media industry in Pakistan.”

Medialogic will begin to deploy the new technology alongside panel expansion plans scheduled to be underway in early 2014.

About Medialogic Pakistan (Pvt) Ltd

Medialogic is now undertaking significant expansion to expand the panel to 20 cities, enabling robust coverage of Pakistan’s Urban population. Ishq Mein Tere – Episode 04!

0

Ohkay even though we know where this drama is going, it is still enough of an entertainment for the prime time. I am enjoying this drama even though they have offered nothing new in respect to the story but it’s the execution that is making us want to see more of it.

Aiza has totally outdone herself in her professional career & for that matter she has become a centre of everyone’s attention. Be it Saad, his mother & even Laiba’s father, everyone’s praising Aiza for her intelligence & vigilance she shows at the office. Apparently she has earned a lot more respect after getting another deal approved.

Even though Saad has found out about what he is suffering from & refuses to tell anyone in his family about it, it was a relief to know that he has a friend who supports him. According to his friend he shouldn’t hold back & confess to Aiza & Saad eventually planned it that way but sad for him that he couldn’t tell about his feelings to Aiza himself.

The whole scene of Aiza finding about what Saad feels for her unfolded just perfectly. She happened to stumble in his studio & find out a little writing of Saad’s confession. Aiza would obviously resist falling for Saad because she endears Laiba a lot & she knows how much she loves him. Even though Aiza tried to bring the subject of Laiba in front of Saad, he was just preoccupied with his one-sided love for Aiza that he didn’t want to pay attention to it.

At last, Laiba & Aiza’s relation will start declining because Laiba has gotten a heed of where Saad’s getting inclined to. Even he clearly told her to back off because he didn’t want to be dictated & now that would open another chapter of Laiba’s misery which she will blame Aiza for. Even though Laiba is not pretty much interested in what’s going on in the office she still did not appreciate the idea of Aiza getting the attention & acknowledgement in comparison to Saad. Another one of Laiba’s ordeal began when Saad himself took a stand for Aiza & clearly told her that he will not stop meeting her, I am sure she will react because she has always gotten everyone’s attention & her inferiority complexes will swoop in just about starting from now as she is already ticked off with the attention Aiza’s getting.

I believe Aiza’s doing & earning quiet well so she must change the locality of her house. In stead she should rent a decent apartment somewhere because she looks too polished for her current Area. Seems like Fauzia’s cousin Ahmed Ali has set his eye on Aiza because now everyone can see the car she owns & cash she carries, so just like her brother & sister in law, Ahmed Ali too feels that Aiza is the right choice because she would benefit him in monetary aspects a lot.

For me the drama is so far so good. Can’t wait to see what Laiba’s moves would be. Mediha Imam has done an amazing job as Laiba, her acting is as good as she looks & everyone else seems to be doing a great job as well where the acting is concerned.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 13 & 14 – The starting of a new phase!

The story is finally progressing and we got to see a lot of developments in the past two episodes. I simply loved the way they ended one chapter of Qudsiya and Aaliyan’s life and started the other. Last week’s episode brought them closer and there was a unique development in their relationship. As it is said that ‘bad times brings people together’ and this is exactly what happened here.

Aaliyan was there for Qudsiya as he just could not leave Qudsiya and her family alone in these circumstances. And of course, we all know how ‘soft-hearted’ Aaliyan is, and this usually lands him into trouble (we are way too familiar with this, aren’t we?). He went to Qudsiya’s house to show support and ended up getting sick, and then we saw Qudsiya taking care of Aaliyan just like he had taken care of her when she was sick. Qudsiya was not too happy about Aaliyan coming to her house because she has had enough of his kindness to last a life time. But then she was also touched by his words when he told her ‘Mein yaha apke liyeah aya tha’

Ohkay, so the best part was of last week’s episode was their heart to heart conversation. They finally got time to understand each other. Aaliyan had finally found someone who can understand him and the way he also wanted Qudsiya to open up to him was adorable.

“Ap chahe to mujhse apni dil ki baatein share ker sakhti hai”

She was a bit reluctant to talk to him at first but then once she started talking, their conversation lasted the whole night and none of them realized this. The contrast shown in their lifestyle and how they were raised was pretty huge. But sometimes we connect with people who are the polar opposite of our personality. Here this is exactly the case; they both harbor feelings for each other now, especially after they got to know a bit more about each other. It is pretty obvious that Aaliyan is attracted to Qudsiya to some extent. There was this sparkle in his eyes when he was watching her and this made Qudsiya a bit shy and conscious around him. But then she is too realistic to get her hopes high!

The next morning they both were a bit awkward around each other, and they actually looked like proper husband and wife when they were having breakfast. They both were living in a small world of their own till Natasha came and brought them back to reality. I was extremely happy to see Qudsiya standing up for herself and not acting like the ‘mazloom-bechari’ types. Aaliyan and Qudsiya both realized the bitter reality of their lives and parted ways after their encounter with Natasha.

From here starts the new phase of the story. I loved the transition they showed from one phase to another. It was necessary to show the development in Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s relationship to pave way for the future of their story. Now Aaliyan and Natasha are planning to get married while Qudsiya is trying to start her life afresh too. Qudsiya wants Aaliyan’s chapter in her life to end, but the people around her never let her forget anything. She now has the responsibility to take care of her whole family and she was highly frustrated when she could not find a job because the news of her unique marriage had spread everywhere.

Aaliyan, our very own knight in shining armour wanted to help Qudsiya once again, but she clearly refused to take any help from him. He barely shows any interest in Natasha anymore, it just took one glimpse of Qudsiya to distract him from Natasha (I am not complaining at all!). Even Natasha noticed this and they ended up having an argument. Natasha also got herself into an accident which means the wedding will be delayed now! I couldn’t be happier! Aaliyan also did not sign the papers and he is too dumb to realize what is stopping him. He had found his soul mate already and a part of him does not want to let go of her. I hope he realizes soon that he feels strongly for Qudsiya!

Finally, we saw the entry of Emad Irfani and Saba Hameed. Saba Hameed is playing the role of Aaliyan’s real mother and Emad’s character is related to her. We just got a brief glimpse of both of them in this episode, but we will get to see more of them in the upcoming episodes.

As far as I can guess, Qudsiya will work for Emad and this is how they will get to know each other. I am eagerly looking forward to this new phase in Qudsiya’s life. Qudsiya’s mother had witnessed the huge scene that Natasha had created and now she has accepted the reality too that there is no space for Qudsiya in Aaliyan’s life. I hope she stands by Qudsiya in these hard times!

I would love to hear your opinion about the episode, so do comment!

Till Next Week
