Tamasha is an Ary Digital reality show, the show has been making waves since it went on air. The contestants of the show are taking interest in the segments and embracing the show. They are participating in the activities of the show with full enthusiasm and making the show interesting and amazing. The show is following the pattern of Big Boss. In the day second, the tasks were given to the contestants, the way tasks are given in Big Brother & Big Boss.
In this episode, Adnan Siddiqui assigned a few duties to his assistant & contestant Maira Khan who had to take care of all the contestants who were supposed to do daily routine chores by paying a price of tokens which were given to them by Adnan Siddiqui.
According to Adnan Siddiqui, Maira didn’t do her job well, and there was lack of devotion which went into the contestants’ favor and they relaxed during the task. When Adnan accused Maira, she tried to explain it but Adnan Siddiqui wasn’t convinced with her explanation. Maira, then started shouting and crying as well. The contestants tried to console her as well and they were sad on her schooling. In last, Adnan calmed her by saying, “You should be strict to all and should not give favors to the fellows”. Bakhtawar continues to move forward at a steady pace. The screenplay and dialogues in these 3 episodes were just as meaningful as before. The writer has for the most part kept Bakhtawar’s story as realistic as possible. The main protagonist’s life did not instantly change and all her problems did not disappear after the change of identity. This new identity brought with it new problems which have so far been covered convincingly. These episodes focused more on Malik Dilawar and Bakhtawar’s relationship than anything else. Bakhtawar seems to be falling for Dilawar which I feel is an interesting addition because he is the kind of person anyone would find attractive. Bakhtawar is a young girl who did not get a lot of love and appreciation in life so it is natural for her to fall for someone who is giving her just that.
I still find myself comparing this drama with Parizaad because both the stories have a few things in common. The big difference between the two dramas has to be the overall production values. Apart from this, the performances in Parizaad blew me away every single time. While most of the actors are performing exceptionally well in Bakhtawar, the main lead Zaviyar Nauman does not bring anything extraordinary to the table. There are some scenes in which he does well but most of the time he does the bare minimum. Like most newcomers, it will take Zaviyar some time to polish his acting skills. Any other actor his age with polished acting skills would have made this character stand out because it has been penned down beautifully. Dilawar’s character is likable in more ways than one but the charm this character clearly holds was lost in translation. Yumna Zaidi owns her character and the experienced actors in the drama never fail to impress.
Bakhtawar’s New Journey
Bakhtawar got a job offer from Malik Dilawar right after she decided to leave the job at the dhaba. Dilawar’s character is pretty straightforward; he is kind and polite but also assertive in his own way. His interactions with Bakhtawar would have been far more impactful if a more experienced actor was playing the role. Malik Sherzaman, Dilawar’s father, is the complete opposite of his son. His character is somewhat clichéd but Qaiser Khan Nizamani makes his scenes worth watching. This basically goes to show how much of a difference an actor can make. When Behroze was introduced a business tycoon in Parizaad, his status was clearly visible from his material possessions; the grand house, guards, and everything else did not leave much to the imagination. However, in this particular case, both rich families do not have that aura. Obviously, the production house did not invest a lot into bringing their status to life on screen.
Bakhtawar continued to move forward with the same determination as before but tonight when Dilawar was about to announce his engagement, she found it difficult to control her feelings. She is gradually falling in love with this man even though she knows that he is inaccessible and not to forget the fact that he is not even aware of her actual identity. I am glad the writer has added those dialogues in which different people make fun of Bakhtawar because of her antics when she is presenting herself as a man – it makes the whole scenario more believable. Also, the light-hearted scenes such as the one in tonight’s episode when the landlord comes with the rishta, break the monotony. Bakhtawar’s relationship with her mother is always the highlight of every single episode. Huma Nawab has managed to strike the perfect balance here therefore Bakhtawar’s mother always comes across as gentle and loving and not unwise. Even though there are times when you want this mother to put her foot down and make a few decisions on her own, you understand why she does not do so.
Bakhtawar’s weak and vulnerable moments were translated on screen faultlessly by Yumna Zaidi in these episodes. Even though she puts up a brave face, this is not easy for her. Showing Bakhtawar’s inner struggles makes her character human and relatable. Tonight, when she stood in front of the mirror and thought of everything she was missing out on because of this false identity, I am certain everyone could relate to her feelings. Most of the time she hides her feelings from her mother but the mother always understands how her daughter is actually feeling.
Final Remarks
Bakhtawar is an interesting drama with a unique storyline. The fast pace with which the story is moving forward adds to its entertainment value. Yumna Zaidi and Huma Nawab are the stars of the show. The actor playing Sheeda’s character is also performing his part really well. The preview of the next episode was intriguing. I hope nothing happens to Bakhtawar’s mother. I am waiting to watch how the story is taken forward in the upcoming episodes.

Ary Digital has recently started a biggest reality show Tamasha which is similar to the popular Indian reality show Big Boss. The Indian reality show Big Boss was already quite famous in Pakistan. ARY Digital, then, decided to put up a show like Big Boss. The show format was announced last year but this year, the channel executed the idea into reality and just started the show named Tamasha, the show aired just ahead of Big Boss has 15. Legendary Pakistani singer Nayyara Noor passes away, earlier today. The news of her passing was announced on Twitter by her nephew. Nayyara was a popular Pakistani singer and has sung many popular songs including Kabhi Hum Khubsurat Thay, Roothay Ho Tum & Many more. She passed away at the age of 72, the playback singer was suffering from protracted illness.

Habs has been on air for 13 weeks now and it is the kind of drama that grows on you. Even though the characters are flawed and some of the scenarios not too convincing but there are certain aspects of the drama which are appealing enough to keep you engaged. Most importantly it keeps your interest alive. Initially, I did not tune into the drama because of the way it was promoted by ARY. Firstly, the writers’ names are not mentioned specifically which gives the impression that the script is somehow a product of “team effort”. This definitely makes you wonder if the content creators actually took the storyline seriously. I am guessing that Aliya Makhdoom wrote the script based on the directions given by the producers therefore they have given some credit to their content team as well. Secondly, the one-liner used by ARY to introduce the storyline is misleading. ”Is love really needed for marriage” isn’t the best way to explain the content of a drama that rests on much more than just that. This particular line seems to be a way to sum up Basit’s mother’s decision to leave his father more than Basit and Ayesha’s own track so far.
More than once I felt as if the writers have taken inspiration from not just the Bollywood film everyone is talking about but also Pehli Si Mohabbat. Not sure if I am the only one who is getting those vibes. The script overall lacks originality even though such a story could have been written without taking ideas from other dramas or films. The one good thing about the script is that, unlike many other dramas which are designed for commercial success, this one does not bank on the bechari aurat or the toxic man for ratings.
This flawed script has definitely been given the right treatment, the credit for which goes to Musaddiq Malik, who aced his directorial debut by putting everything he has learned about drama making till now to good use. He has not only relied on presenting a visually pleasing set-up overall but he has also made sure that the actors give their best. Nothing about the drama or the scenes is overdramatic but almost all the emotions are translated and captured convincingly by the director.
The Story So Far & Relationships
Habs’ story mainly revolves around Ayesha (Ushna Shah) and Basit (Feroze Khan). Ayesha was introduced as a practical young woman who always spoke her mind. Her mother (Saba Faisal) is a widow and an opportunist for whom survival comes before everything else. Her daughters’ happiness is secondary to her right from the get-go. Basit (Feroze Khan) also belongs to a dysfunctional family. His mother (Irsa Ghazal) left his father when he was really young and married someone she loved because she felt her marriage was loveless. This left Basit questioning the institution and sanctity of marriage. His father passed away and according to his will Basit had to get married in order to get access to his accounts. Ayesha ends up working in Basit’s office and eventually out of sheer desperation Basit asks her to marry him in order to get access to the money which he needs to run his business. Ayesha’s mother manipulates the situation and takes money from Basit in a tactful manner in order to make the most of the circumstances.
The sidetracks are sometimes more interesting than the main track with Bano’s (Dania Anwar) character taking the lead. Dania Anwar has acted superbly throughout. She is Ayesha’s older sister, the wisest in the family, and her bond with Ayesha, in particular, is a breath of fresh air. Ayesha’s phupo Bobby (Hina Rizvi) is another interesting character that tends to go overboard at times. She never got married and runs a business of her own. She breaks the typical phupo stereotype. Zoya (Janice Tessa) the younger sister is a complete rebel unlike the other two. Fahad (Mussadiq Malik) is Basit’s only friend who continuously gives him much-needed advice.
My Thoughts
Initially, Ayesha’s character reminded me of the character Ushna Shah played in Aakhir Kab Tak but that was definitely a better etched-out character than that of Ayesha. As the story progressed, Ayesha’s character confused me more than once. I was especially surprised when she decided to marry Basit to “help him out”. There was definitely a reason to believe that she was slightly swayed away by his charm but apparently that was never the case. Also, Ayesha’s expectations from the marriage did not make a lot of sense either. A character that was introduced as a really wise one gradually started making such “dumb” mistakes right after getting married that you couldn’t help but question her moves. The only relatable aspect of this character that made me root for Ayesha even after everything was her constant confusion being translated on screen brilliantly by Ushna Shah.
Basit’s character is equally confusing, especially after the marriage. While it is easy to understand why he is scared of working on his relationship with Ayesha, I am still wondering why he acts like he respects the institution of marriage! This nikkah was like a business contract therefore his reaction in the latest episode when Ayesha asked for a divorce made absolutely no sense. If he respects Ayesha, he has definitely not shown it except for the basic courtesy which has also not been a constant. Basit’s relationship with Ayesha can be termed as toxic and perhaps a mellowed-down version of the rich spoiled brats who want their way. His mannerisms and Feroze’s acting, in particular, make this character acceptable. Basit’s mother expects Ayesha to “fix” him but so far Ayesha is not too keen on that. All these characters have strange expectations from each other.
The relationship dynamics in Ayesha’s household make perfect sense and add interesting side tracks to the story. I find myself completely involved in Bano’s story and enjoy watching her on-screen. Even the greedy mother’s character has been acted-out so well that her scenes are entertaining to watch. All these characters and the performances add to the entertainment value of the drama.
Final Remarks
Even though Ayesha and Basit’s track and their characters make little sense at times, the performances and the treatment given to the drama make it worthwhile. Every actor has given the role that they are playing their best which makes such a big difference. It is one of those dramas I look forward to watching and even if the story developments frustrate me at times, it always entertains.

Saieen Zahoor is one of the legendary talents that came out of Pakistan. His story is both unique and inspiring. Born in a rural household, Saieen Zahoor started singing at the age of seven. He would sing at the shrines of sufis where he met Raunka Ali from Patiala Gharana of music and trained under him. He shot to fame when he was awarded Voice of The Year in 2006 by BBC.

A few days ago, a horrific incident made headlines in which a medical student was abused by her close friend and her father. She was tortured for refusing proposal of an old man who was father of her friend. The medical student was humiliated, filmed and then her video was circulated too. Today, the victim Khadija spoke up regarding this matter, she addressed about a video circulated by Anna, Khadija says, “Assalamualaikum, I am Khadija, there has been a video, which is making rounds on social media in which it is being said from me that I have had a concensus with the other party but that is not true. The video is old. I’m still fighting my case, however, the video that has been circulated on the internet is old which was pre-recorded by Ana from me, and I didn’t know why was she recording it, I still standby my stance and I’m fighting my case. In Sha Allah, these culprits will get the punishment. I want all of you to support me in this. They recorded the video to use it later on , the video was made for the blackmailing purpose we haven’t done any patch up with them and we will contest it”. Here is the video link.
