After a long relationship, Jennifer Gates, the eldest daughter of the fourth richest man, Bill Gates, tied the knot to her Muslim fiancé Nayel Nassar in New York City. Reports in international media cited that it was Jennifer’s second set of nuptials of the weekend having previously tied the knot with Nassar at a Muslim ceremony on Friday night before Bill and his ex-wife Melinda walked their daughter down the aisle. Her husband is from an Egyptian Muslim background.
The Muslim ceremony was held on Friday night at Bill’s sprawling estate in New York while the family of US business tycoon invited around 300 guests for the main ceremony featuring performances by Coldplay and folk musician Harry Hudson.
Jennifer wore a dress custom-made by Vera Wang at their civil ceremony, as her parents reunited for the first time since their billion dollar divorce.

Ohkay so, this episode of Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay further elaborated Aswad’s mental condition & the extent of guilt that he was feeling. All this while, at times it did look like Aswad himself was a victim of circumstances & was feeling guilty because he kind of held himself responsible for all that has happened but the twist at the end of this episode was enough of proof that Aswad is a plain vile person who is not ready to face the brunt of this trauma alone!
Aswad’s Guilt
In this episode, I liked how Saleha wanted to see Mehreen move on. She never once held Mehreen back in a hope that Aswad might change her mind. Although they haven’t shown it but maybe this is also Saleha’s way of making amends because she has seen how Mashal couldn’t deal with the rejection & also how much her son is suffering too. Saleha was adamant to get Aswad married to Mehreen but after all that has happened, it is good that she is not bent on repeating the same mistake. This change has definitely come with a hefty price but better late than never. It is nice to see Saleha being respectful of her son’s decision & although she facilitates him, but what I really like about her character is how she is still a very independent person who does what she wants to. Aswad wanted Saleha to move to ‘Amreeka’ with him but she clearly refused as she is very much settled here.
Mehreen has definitely had her inhibitions & because she is someone who has kept all her vulnerabilities to herself, she kind of feels exposed in front of Saffan. All this while, it was pretty obvious that Mehreen’s heart & also her mind was not into this marriage but she was doing her best to move on because she knows how painful her presence is to Aswad & how it is also creating problems for Saleha. Even Saffan could notice that Mehreen was mentally absent & to some extent emotionally unavailable but still, he chose to be accepting about it because he understands what she has been through. It is truly refreshing to see a character like Saffan in general but also when he’s seen against Aswad, Saffan is a clear winner!
As much as I like seeing Aswad in this state, I am still not a fan of the fact that he absolutely has nothing more to him. Before the death, Mashal was clouding his judgment & now it’s the police officer who decided to fill in. I am not sure why was the police officer shown having a soft corner for Mehreen when he himself is very much like Aswad who sees Mehreen as the culprit. I must say the director has done a commendable job in still not giving away the details related to Mashal’s death. The scene of Shabo’s flashback of the night still had me thinking maybe these expressions of Mehreen are Shabo’s interpretation & maybe when they will reveal what actually has happened, Mehreen’s expressions would be completely different. This was just what I am imagining, let’s see what happens when we’ll get to that part.
The scene of Aswad coercing Mehreen to kind of confess was definitely not needed, although it was performed well by both Mahira Khan & Usman Mukhtar. Aswad is doing exactly what he did with Mashal, he blamed her for falling in love with him. Similarly, he is now forcing Mehreen to bear the brunt of his guilt. Aswad knows exactly if he had been firm on his decision of marrying Mashal, this wouldn’t have happened but because he is failing to hold himself responsible completely, he now wants Mehreen to lift the weight off of his shoulders.
This episode definitely ended on an interesting note. It was quite unpredictable but goes to show how vile Aswad has become that he would do anything to deprive Mehreen of her peace of mind, only because he has now decided to do something about all the lies that have been fed to her. It is unfortunate that he now has an opportunity to unlearn everything about Mehreen & see her from a different perspective but he is so blinded by the lies unfortunately that he is choosing to punish Mehreen in this sick manner. I must say, although both Mehreen & Aswad are victims of their circumstances (Aswad less) but the way they both are twisted makes this entire equation quite interesting. Mehreen was never ready to get married to Saffan the moment Aswad stepped in, she has always used him as an escape to her realities. Now because she feels he deserves better & probably because she feels exposed in front of him, she is ready to let go of him yet again.
Convincing Performances
This episode of Hum Kahan Ke Sachay Thay was quite interesting. I am however looking forward to the next episode, hoping to see a story moving to the next phase. I am not sure if it’s just me but all the flashbacks of Mashal are very saddening to see. Kind of makes me feel for her quite a lot. Mahira Khan has performed beautifully throughout & her performance keeps on getting better. I really like Saffan’s character, it is like a break in the middle of this chaos but sadly, his character will exit the story soon. Haroon Shahid has done justice to such a nice character. Usman Mukhtar has played Aswad’s role convincingly too. A flashback where he gifted Mashal a cup & smiled at her suggested how emotionally involved he was with her but seeing how easily he broke her heart once again highlights how cold-hearted he actually is. Ohkay so, this was yet another slow episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3. It is unfortunate that for a story as typical as this one, the drama makers decided to drag it to so much to turn it into an approximately 40 episode drama. The story has not moved an inch for so long & what’s more frustrating is how in every single episode for the last few weeks, they only have a couple of new scenes, the rest of them are just flashbacks or events & happenings that do not add much to the story. I really think they shouldn’t have labeled it as the third season of Khuda Aur Mohabbat because the title itself skyrocketed the expectations & there are no qualms in saying that this one doesn’t only not meet the expectations but falls short of it completely!
Dilawar & Farhad’s Meeting
This episode had only one major development which was Dilawar’s attack on Farhad & everything that happened after was the least bit interesting or engaging to hold my interest in the episode. Dilawar obviously found out about Farhad & it wouldn’t have taken him much to figure out what was the reason behind the orders that were given to him by Nazim Shah. Farhad also knew why Dilawar did what he did, his expressions said it all. It was as if it did not come as a surprise to Farhad because this is exactly what he expected from Nazim, especially after all the threats he gave to him a few days ago.
It seems Jageerdarni has adopted Farhad & she was taking her role as his mother quite seriously. I still fail to understand why & what is it in Farhad’s character that everyone puts everything aside & glorifies Farhad as if he is someone special. I do acknowledge that this has been Hashim Nadeem’s pattern in most of his dramas, everyone couldn’t stop talking about Musa in Raqs e Bismil, everyone in Parizaad is touched by him, but the difference is, both Musa & Parizaad had it in them for people to be touched by their presence or feel inclined towards them. Sadly, this is absolutely not the case with Farhad, or even if Hashim Nadeem intended it that way, the director has failed to translate it on-screen. There has been so much focus on what others think of Farhad & how they can not help being his fans but sadly, they forgot to work on Farhad’s character or his growth which actually would’ve made all these feelings of supporting characters justified.
The rest of the episode covered everyone’s reactions with Sikandar taking care of hospital expenses & blood donations. Kazim Shah was now introspecting which again seemed out of the blue, but I still like that they have shown a father having a soft spot for his daughter. It is refreshing to see that a father like Kazim Shah is still in touch with his emotions especially in matters concerning his daughter. I really wish to see him having a conversation on these lines with at least someone; acknowledging the fact that the loss of Taimoor was so traumatic for Mahi that he doesn’t wish to put her through more misery!
Random Observations
This episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 was actually quite slow. It also gave me a chance to make random observations – I liked the color-coordinated outfits of Kazim Shah & Peerni Jee. I also wonder how awkward it must’ve been for Iqra Aziz to lay flat on the stairs that too upside down. Dilawar did not change his clothes all these months – if he had silently passed by Farhad, I guess that would’ve been enough to kill him – no stabbing needed. Also, they showed random people grabbing Dilawar, when I saw him standing in the hospital in one piece I wondered why didn’t those people make a kachoomar out of him – especially after witnessing what he had done. Sahiba looked awkward with a dupatta draped partially around her bun – that’s just not her style. I wonder what Naheed, Sajal & all those girls doing who had dedicated their entire lives to Farhad. Also yes, all this while every time W&D Dervish appeared in Farhad’s hallucination, he seemed normal but this time around he came with a stark white light shining through his turban – wonder what does it indicate? He is no more & ready to welcome Farhad to the afterlife? I had to shoot a scene with almost 200 snakes around me. I risked my life but I completed the shoot just because I wanted to be casted as a main lead.”
“After I completed the shoot, the next day I got to know that I wasn’t being casted as a main lead. It was someone else who was going to portray the main role. At that moment I could not bare Umer Sharif’s lie and in anger I bite the snake which was hanging on my neck. The venom of the snake spread inside my body and I was admitted to the hospital”, added Shafqat Cheema.
The writer and director of drama serial “Laapata” Khizar Idress recently appeared in an interview with “Fuchsia Magazine”.
Khizar Idress while explaining the logic behind Geeti’s character in Laapata, mentioned that “Geeti’s character was a negative character. She has a loud personality so later on we added the TikTok part to Geeti’s character. It was a negative and comic character at the same time.”
“We were not portraying the TikTokers in bad light at all. We did a full research on TikTokers, so that we can do justice with Geeti’s character as well. Geeti’s loud personality and nature was the reason of showing her as a TikToker because not everyone can be a TikToker, people like Geeti can become a TikToker”, added Khizar Idress.
