In a rather sad turn of events, veteran Pakistani comedian, Umer Sharif’s daughter, Hira Umer, passed away in Lahore on Monday night.
According to reports, the cause of Hira’s death turns out to be a heart attack, as confirmed byFarooq Rubi, a close family friend. Also, Hira had been suffering with kidney issues for a while and had been admitted to a private hospital in Lahore.
Hira Umer was reportedly very close to her father, Umer Sharif, who is now rushing back home to Lahore from his three month tour of the United States.
Although Hira remained out of the limelight, she was the administrator of Umer Sharif’s ‘Maa’ hospital in Karachi.

It was during a conversation that Ahsan revealed that Sanjay Leela Bhansali had asked him about Ayeza Khan. Sanjay Leela Bhansali was of the view that Ayeza Khan is the best female face of Pakistan and he even said that if she works with him then he wont work with anyone else! He also commented that Pakistani actresses tend to marry too soon which may prove to be a hurdle for the actress to actually work with him.
Ayeza Khan also shared that she had an offer by acclaimed Indian filmmaker Imtiaz Ali but since she wanted to debut with a Pakistani film things were put on hold. Also, before she could take a decision, things between India and Pakistan got tensed and the offer could not materialize, shared Ayeza.
Recently, Antonio Guterres, United Nations (UN) Secretary General, arrived in Pakistan on a four day visit. The UN Chief held meetings with UN Refugee Agency officials on Monday alongside Mahira Khan, nited Nations High Commissioner for Refugees’ (UNHCR) Goodwill Ambassador for Pakistan.
Following the meeting, Antonio Guterres took to his Twitter to thank Mahira Khan for her support.
“As we mark 40 years of Pakistan’s solidarity with Afghan refugees, it was a pleasure to meet @Refugees Goodwill Ambassador @TheMahiraKhan. I thank her and all Pakistanis for their extraordinary support,” tweeted Antonio Guterres.

Shees Sajjad Gul’s performance in Mere Pass Tum Ho was solid throughout and even though he had to deliver really difficult dialogues, he made sure that his scenes were compelling enough. Sana Javed (Ruswai)
Sana Javed’s performance in Ruswai has been remarkable throughout. Her role is not an easy one to enact on screen yet she has translated the good and the bad times so well on screen starting from the first episode. Her character goes through a great deal and Sana Javed has done an outstanding job of making sure that the strengths of her character are highlighted at every step. The character itself has been written down intelligently and Sana Javed has nailed the performance. She has also done really well with looking the role especially when her character is shown going through hell. Sana has proved her real acting prowess through this performance.
Mikaal Zulfiqar (Ruswai)
Mikaal Zulfiqar’s character in Ruswai also goes through different stages just like all the other characters in the drama. Even though the character itself is flawed and he is definitely not the kind of hero you like but Mikaal always stays true to its spirit. Mikaal has a tendency of going overboard at times but in Ruswai he has given a grounded performance which makes you want to look forward to his next acting projects. Mikaal’s well-balanced portrayal makes his scenes a treat to watch even when his character is not the least bit likable.
Shehzad Sheikh (Deewar-e-Shab)
Shehzad Sheikh’s honest and solid performance in Dewar-e-Shab is one of the reasons why you find yourself rooting for his character. Right from the beginning Shehhzad Sheikh has presented this character gracefully on screen without making it look too good to be true. He has also added that element of intrigue to his character. You find yourself looking forward to his scenes because not only is his character likable but his performance makes it even more so.

Not only this, he is also not afraid of experimenting with characters which are anything but simple. Ahad’s characters in Ehd-e-Wafa and Ye Dil Mera both have more than their fair share of complications yet he portrays all the shades of both these characters so effortlessly and brilliantly on screen. While most actors Ahad’s age play it safe, he always makes sure that he chooses to be part of dramas which offer variation and he always plays roles which have tons of room for performance.
Ahmed Ali Akbar (Ehd-e-Wafa)
Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance in Ehd-e-Wafa has not only been realistic but it has been exceptionally emotional as well. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s character wouldn’t have had such a huge impact if he did not portray it on screen so persuasively. Her first appearance in the drama was extremely powerful, it was so powerful that many viewers impatiently waited to see her in the drama again. She made sure that the viewers felt every single emotion her character went through whether it was anger, empathy or love.
Anjum Habibi (Ehd-e-Wafa)
Anjum Habibi is a senior actor who is not seen in dramas too often now. His brilliant acting skills made the viewers feel for his character even though he has a limited role to play in the drama. Anjum Habibi’s gentle dialogue delivery and his honest emotions tug at the heartstrings of the viewers. Zahid Ahmed (Ishq Zahe Naseeb & Mein Na Janoo)

Sami Khan never fails to deliver. His performances are always earnest and endearing. In Ishq Zahe Naseeb Sami Khan excelled at playing a character faced with several conflicts. He was shown as a lover, a family man, an employee and besides other things a man who often had to keep his feelings to himself. Kubra Khan is an intelligent actress who always chooses the best dramas to work in. Kubra Khan is playing an important character in Alif. Her character goes through an entire journey which entails strength and dedication. The viewers have been shown different sides of her character gradually and Kubra Khan has brilliantly nailed all these shades of her character. Although Kubra Khan is part of the flashback scenes which are being shown in the drama but her track and performance both are so enticing that the viewers find themselves waiting for these scenes.
Ahsan Khan (Alif)
Ahsan Khan entered drama serial Alif when 6 episodes had already gone on air. Even then, he was only shown in the flashback scenes therefore when compared to the leading characters, he did not get a lot of screen time. Ahsan Khan however made sure that the scenes he was a part of were so powerful that they became the best part of the episodes he was in. Tonight’s episode of Ishqiya was slightly more entertaining than the last one. This episode had some important developments to its credit and it was yet again frustrating watching Hamna contemplate whether she should tell Hamza what was actually going on or not. She went ahead with the nikkah without informing Hamza. Although her confusion and fear both were translated convincingly on screen but even then her approach has been immature. I must say that Hania Aamir’s character and her performance is the main attraction of this drama right now. Hania Aamir is one of my favorite actresses who always brings out the best in every character she plays. Having said that, I really wish that she gets a better stylist and that the producers let the actresses with short hair flaunt their natural hair as opposed to forcing them to wear hair pieces. In every other drama the actresses are forced to wear either extensions or hair pieces because somehow it isn’t okay for the leading ladies to have short hair!
Even though some of the scenarios in this drama have done-to-death written all over them but there were also those elements of Hamna and Romaissa’s track which were quite likable. There were times when I wondered what would have happened had Hamna taken her sister or mother in to confidence. The writer has shown how a loving and caring father completely failed to let his daughter make one of the most important decisions of her life.
Hamza and Hamna
Hamza’s commitment towards Hamna seems quite genuine, something more than just crazy love but if you compare him with Azeem, Azeem definitely appears to be a more mature character. Hamza’s conversation with his father in the previous episode suggested that Hamna had never made a commitment with him therefore their relationship status is confusing. Hamna has definitely made quite a few decisions in this one week which show that she is not as certain and confident as her sister is. Hamna was shown crying and ignoring Hamza and she simply brushed this entire affair under the carpet even after the nikkah happened. Some of the flashback scenes were completely unnecessary and it would have been better if instead of showing these scenes, the writer would have given the viewers a more clear insight into what Hamna was thinking. Although she wanted to get married to Hamza but we still don’t know whether she loves Hamza as much as he loves her. While it was relatively easier for Hamza to tell his parents off, Hamna’s situation has been completely different. Feroze Khan’s entire outlook doesn’t go well with his character since Hamza has a more responsible and serious side as well but he looks like the reckless cool dude.
Family Dynamics
There were quite a few scenes tonight which showed why Hamna decided to do exactly what she was told and why she might have to put up with even more in the future. Romaissa took the medical file from her father but we still don’t know what his medical condition is. Romaissa’s character is a breath of fresh air and definitely different from the one she played in Anaa. Romaissa looks out for her parents and her sole aim in life is to see her father happy. Her relationship with her father in particular is both cute and endearing at the same time. Hania Aamir’s performance has been effortless and on point. She does not overdo the bubbly side of Romaissa’s personality and has made sure that the viewers can see the sensitive and caring side of her character. Shabbir Jan too has translated his character gracefully on screen. Even though he has made some decisions which were too hasty and perhaps not fair but even then you understand where he was coming from.
Azeem and Hamna
Azeem was properly introduced to the viewers tonight. The introduction he gave made me wonder why he mentioned the past. Can he sense that Hamna is hiding something or is there something that he is hiding from her? Or was it just something he said to make Hamna feel comfortable? Waiting to find out! Azeem sounded like someone whose world would revolve around his wife once he got married therefore it would be interesting to watch how this relationship grows. Hamna just sat there, lifeless and sad while Azeem tried to have a conversation with her. He likes Hamna and is looking forward to starting a new life with her but Hamna clearly is not ready for this fresh start, it is more like an ordeal for her. The preview of the next episode suggested that Azeem might find out the truth in the upcoming episode – I really hope that does not happen. Hamna’s situation is actually painful to watch especially because she hardly had any interaction with her friend in this one week. Gohar Rasheed is a brilliant actor, I am waiting to see what his character has in store for us.
Final Remarks
Ishqiya so far is a decent watch, it isn’t remarkable and it is not entirely run-of-the-mill either. The performances and the direction has been on point and even though the story is familiar, the writer has managed to avoid certain clichés. The preview of the next episode showed that Hamza will find out the truth and he will once again show his anger in front of everyone. Will Azeem witness all this? The preview suggested that Hamza will feel betrayed and rightly so too! I guess we all know where the story will go from here but it will be interesting to watch how it is taken forward.

During the pre wedding party which was conducted at Maya’s home to get into the mood of the festivities, Maya kept her look comparatively simple yet elegant. She wore a gorgeous shade of navy blue. Her dress was a pleated long sleeveless shirt with a flared palazzo. The shirt had a detailing of golden embellishment on the neckline and also at the bottom of her palazzo. Maya’s dupatta was the star of this outfit. It was a beautiful rustic, almost a reminiscent of the olden era fashion. The dupatta had a timeless look to it and was gorgeously pattern with repetitive motif over all. It gelled well with the golden detailing on her shirt and palazzo. Maya accessorized herself with a set of golden bangles and small jhumkas. She also wore a pair of simple golden khussas. This entire look was simple and effortless but was enough to wow everyone. Designed by Faiza Saqlain, Maya picked gorgeous aubergine shaded dress for the Qawwali night. It was a heavily flared dress with puffy sleeves and pleats to it. It was again a simple and effortless look that Maya opted for the night. The silhouette of this dress was such that it accentuated Maya’s petite waistline beautifully and sat perfectly on her shoulders. The entire dress was simple but the sleeves had a bit of embellishment and design. Maya draped the dupatta around her arms and it also had a golden lace to it which tied well with the golden pattern on the sleeves. This look of Maya can be termed as effortless and classic. She wore a gorgeous pair of jhumkis and basic strappy heels to complete the look.
Maya kept her makeup simple at the Qawwali night. She focused on keeping her skin fresh and vibrant, wore some eyeliner and kajal to accentuate her eyes. Some blush and nude shaded pink lipstick to tie the entire look together. The hairstyle was simple with side partition and backcombing to give a body to the hair on the crown. The rest of the hair was straightened and she looked gorgeous.
The Mayoun Dress & Makeup
Another beautiful creation of Faiza Saqlain, Maya Ali wore a gorgeous shade of sap green on the mayoun function, which went perfectly well with the theme of the day. She jazzed her look up a bit and kept it feminine and effortless at that. She wore a beautiful sleeveless short shirt and patiala salwar. It was a self-printed shirt which was embellished with the rustic gold gotta. The shalwar was also embellished and looked beautiful. The net dupatta had a gotta detailing to it with tassels all around. She accessorized herself with elaborate statement jhumkas, a polki ring on one of her fingers and a pair of sap green bangles. For footwear she chose sparkly mirrored khussas, which went well with this Punjabi styling and fashion that she opted for this event.
After keeping her hair straight for the first two functions, she decided to go for a different look. This time around, she styled her hair in voluminous waves and center parted them. Due to it being a day function, Maya kept her makeup very minimal. She however defined her eyes with an eyeliner and highlighted the inner corner of her eyes to bring attention to them and make her eyes look awake. She wore a lot of pink blush to bring in the element of freshness and liveliness to her face because it was a day event.
The Shendi Dress & Makeup
Maya Ali wore a beautifully designed lehenga choli for her brother’s wedding which was a creation of Faiza Saqlain. After keeping her looks comparatively simple for the previous events, she went full glam and elaborate on the Shendi function. Since it was Mehndi and Shadi rolled into one, keeping the theme in her mind, she came up with this look thoughtfully. Her beautiful dress was a gorgeous shade of pink and golden, and the mehndi element was brought into it with the green detailing as well as motifs on the lehenga. The blouse was crop and the sparkly chiffon sleeves were extended till the back of her hands which were then tied in a middle finger. She wore an elaborate jewellery set with tikka, jhumkis and a gorgeous necklace. The dupatta was also sparkly and again had the gotta detailing to it on borders along with the tassles. The lehenga was a beautiful vibrant shade of pink with a beautiful design to it. It was heavily flared which accentuated Maya’s waistline and slim figure perfectly.
Maya wore her hair in a sleek bun and adorned it with gajras. She looked like a heroine straight out of an 80’s Bollywood movie. Her makeup was beautifully done where she wore a winged eyeliner. It is a white chiffon saree which has been embellished with silver sequins and rhinestones around the border as well as splattered across in the form of small motifs. The blouse is sleeveless and has been adorned with pearls all over. Maya also carried a beautiful pouch which was also white and went perfectly well with the white saree. Social media influencer and vlogger Irfan Junejo left his fans disappointed when he announced to quit making videos anymore. He released a video titled ‘I Quit‘ and left his fans disappointed.
Irfan Junejo in his video message cleared that due to vlogging he is having anxiety and self-esteem issues and for now he is taking a break.
Fans and followers suspected that Irfan Junejo left vlogging because he didn’t receive an award for his achievements at PISA 2020 but he came forward and clarified everything.
The young vlogger thanked his fans and said, “Hello duerz, thank you for all the kind messages over the past few days. I am really blessed to have such kind of people in my life. I can’t reply to everyone individually as much as I try so I’ll just put a story here.”

Only the burger was absolutely shit and the fort just wasn’t as nice anymore. But it was still the best it could have been because at the end of the day, I was finally there with her. Accoring to news, the drama will feature a star-studded cast and is expected to hit TV screens on Geo Entertainment in the first quarter of 2020.
This will be the first drama serial of Ayeza Khan and Danish together after getting married in 2014. According to news, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar has signed a special deal with 7th Sky Entertainment and will be writing more dramas for them to be aired on Geo Entertainment.
“I have signed a deal with Asad Qureshi and Abdullah Kadwani of the 7th Sky Entertainment. I will be writing about 3-4 dramas for them every year,” a leading online publication, quoted Khalil ur Rehman Qamar.

There is no denying the fact that Pakistani drama industry is blessed with the best. There is no dearth of talent when it comes to acting but there are always times when some actors fail to give good performances. No one can be at their best all the time but viewers expect better from actors who have given some brilliant performances in the past. While these actors are really good performers otherwise, there are always those instances when they either overact or fail to breathe life into their characters. In an attempt to be ‘different’ these actors tend to give performances which are simply the worst. A script of course makes a huge difference but sometimes an average written character too can become likable if the actor performing the role gives a good performance.

Natasha Hussain (Ye Dil Mera)
Natasha Hussain is a well-known model who made her comeback in dramas with the play Ye Dil Mera. Ye Dil Mera is a popular play with some big names attached to it. Natasha Hussain is playing the role of Farhana Khala, a sister, wife and khala whose role is limited but crucial to the plot. Farhana Khala all of a sudden is shown being highly inquisitive about her sister’s death and that is when the viewers repeatedly got to see scenes covering her curious mind. Natasha Hussain’s character itself doesn’t have a lot to offer but her performance makes it even more annoying. From her outlook to her expressions, everything is all over the place! You would expect better from someone who has had so much exposure in the industry. Natasha Hussain has taken Farhana Khala’s curiosity to a whole new level with her exaggerated expressions. She has tried too hard to show Farhana’s puzzling state of mind and has ended up leaving the viewers puzzled whether they should watch her scenes or just forward them! Natasha Hussain is also seen wearing more make-up than necessary in all the scenes and it does not even look like it has been done by a professional. She could have kept her look casual and stylish at the same time but that has definitely not been the case. In most of the scenes she has dressed up like a teenager which does not help! Did Natasha Hussain think she needed to show that she could still pull of the looks Sajal Ali is sporting in the drama, even at this age?! It certainly seems like it!
Osman Khalid Butt (Ehd-e-Wafa)
Osman Khalid Butt is a really popular actor who has been part of some of the biggest dramas recently. While Osman Khalid Butt does wonders when he is playing a fun or comic character, he cannot act to save his life in the more serious roles. Ehd-e-Wafa has some really powerful performances to its credit by young and old actors therefore Osman Khalid Butt’s wooden acting stands out like a sore thumb. More than 20 episodes of Ehd-e-Wafa have gone on air till now and out of all these episodes, Osman Khalid Butt has acted well only in few scenes. His long hair right from the beginning were distracting and he looked older than all the other boys. Once his character Shahzain went back to his village and he had to play the role of a spoiled feudal, he did not fit into it at all! He either had no expressions or way too many expressions, basically his acting has been anything but effortless. Since he got more screen time than all the other leading actors for many weeks, his bad performance stood out even more. Out of all the boys playing the lead in the drama, Osman Khalid Butt’s performance has been most disappointing. Osman Khalid Butt has once again proved that he lacks versatility and he can do only certain type of characters. When he has to do more serious roles, he completely loses track and the viewers find it really difficult to relate to his track. Osman Khalid Butt should stick to doing light and comic roles since he clearly cannot do serious acting.
Hira Mani (Mere Pass Tum Ho)
Hira Mani has earned a lot of fan following in the past few years. She also takes pride in the fact that she is the only actress who managed to make such a big name for herself even though she joined the drama industry after she got married and was already a mother. In Mere Pass Tum Ho Hira Mani joined the drama late as Rumi’s teacher Hania. Right from her first scene Hira Mani failed to bring out the best side of her character. Her overall look was another factor which made it difficult for the viewers to take her character as a teacher seriously. This character did not need any kind of glamour yet Hira Mani’s revealing sarees made the viewers wonder what she was thinking while choosing her wardrobe. Hania’s character was tricky and it had many shades. Unfortunately, the only shade which Hira Mani truly nailed was that of being a judgmental outsider. She completely failed to portray the loving and sensitive side of her character properly on screen. Hira Mani is another actress who has the same expressions no matter what role she is playing. She also tends to overdo the ‘cuteness’ whether the role demands it or not. Hania’s character could have been far more graceful if Hira Mani was less of herself and more of the character she was playing.
Irsa Ghazal (Ruswai)
Irsa Ghazal is a phenomenal actress but her acting in Ruswai is the perfect example of overacting which literally gets on your nerves right from her very first appearance. Irsa Ghazal plays the role of Salma, who is the mother of main lead Salman. She is a materialistic and controlling rich woman with absolutely no class. Thanks to Irsa Ghazal’s pathetic acting in the drama the ‘no class’ element of her character stands out more than anything else. Irsa Ghazal did not have to try so hard to make people hate her character but she did and in turn ended up being terribly annoying. Saba Faisal and Saba Hameed have been seen playing similar roles in dramas often and they managed to be negative without being extremely annoying like Irsa Ghazal. Irsa Ghazal has tried harder than necessary to play the vamp with her over exaggerated body language and a weird manner of talking which does not go well with her character. Salma has been shown as an educated yet shallow woman but Irsa Ghazal’s portrayal is such that Salma comes across as an annoying wannabe. Her acting makes you wonder why someone like Ariz Khan got married to her in the first place. In order to look fake, Irsa Ghazal has seriously compromised on her acting. We expected better from her since she is such a good actress otherwise.
Imran Ashraf (Kahin Deep Jalay)
Imran Ashraf recently gave the best performance of his career as Bhola. Ever since Ranjha Ranjha ended, it seems like Imran Ashraf has been trying extra hard to re-introduce himself as the ‘hero’ although he himself has said that he wants to redefine the term hero! That is why he has been concentrating on his overall look more than ever in dramas now and is trying hard to look different than he did in Ranjha Ranjha Kardi. While we absolutely loved Imran Ashraf in so many dramas because he is such a daring and brilliant actor, he completely failed to deliver in the play Kahin Deep Jalay. Imran Ashraf is playing a negative character in the play with the utmost bechargi! People are finding his scenes comic because of the expressions and the overall acting. There are others who think that he is trying too hard to walk away from Bhola and hence losing his grip on acting.
Sanam Jung (Mein Na Janoo)
After hosting morning shows for so many years, Sanam Jung surely needed to do a crash course in acting before taking up a new project. Sanam Jung plays a character which is incredibly annoying in Mein Na Janoo and she has made sure that her portrayal is even more annoying! Sanam Jung has clearly concentrated more on her make-up, hair and dresses than she has on her acting. Even though Saira’s character itself is quiet lame but Sanam Jung has made it even more so by nailing the bechargi and overdoing it even in situations where she is shown as a relatively stronger individual. Even when Saira tells her mother to take a stand in so many scenes or when she is re-assuring her husband of her love, Sanam Jung still does not change her expressions. Even while uttering dialogues which show Saira’s strength, Sanam Jung makes sure she looks like the most victimized person on earth. Sanam Jung’s expressions and her hairstyle are two things which have stayed the same no matter what her character went through! She has sported similar looks and expressions all through the drama which has been enough to put the viewers to sleep.
Firdous Jamal (Thora Sa Haq)
It is definitely ironic that an actor like Firdous Jamal who is so experienced and has given so many impressive performances is all of a sudden overacting in the play Thora Sa Haq. Firdous Jamal’s character in the play is simple and it could even be quite likable yet his acting has been over-the-top right from the start. His portrayal is a serious case of too many expressions and trying too hard. Why would a seasoned actor like him do something like that? We can only wonder! Watching Firdous Jamal’s scenes in Thora Sa Haq is tormenting because his overacting is simply unbearable. Even some of the younger actors are giving a far better performance than him. Even though the character he is playing in the drama has taken a positive turn but Firdoud Jamal’s performance continues to be as exaggerated as it has been right from the first episode.
Parveen (Mera Dil Mera Dushman)
The actor playing Parveen’s role in Mera Dil Mera Dushman seems to be really impressed by the star plus negative characters since she has been giving the most evil and conniving expressions even when there is no need to do so. We are pretty sure she watched all those mother-in-laws in star plus plays who love putting their bahus through hell and then reenacted those performances in this one play. The way her eyes pop out and the manner in which she rolls those eyes is just plain hilarious although her role is definitely not comic. This is what happens when you take the evil side of your character more seriously than necessary!
There is one thing common between all these actors, all of them failed to portray different shades of their characters and only focused on one shade. These performances basically prove just how important it is for actors to understand their characters and not try too hard while portraying them on screen.

The new year has started and with this year we wish to see some of our favorite Pakistani actors on television. These actors have not been seen on television for a while and their fans would love to see them acting again in dramas. All of these actors are brilliant performers who have always left their mark every time they appeared in dramas. They also have massive fan following yet they make their fans wait for years before they make an appearance. Some of these actors took a break only recently but it would be great if this year, they are seen in dramas again. With the Pakistani film industry flourishing, some of the best actors have shifted their focus from dramas to television. These actors obviously want people to buy a ticket to see them perform. In most countries it is a norm that film actors do not act in dramas but in Pakistan, there are many actors who work in films as well as in dramas. Although Fawad Khan is making sure that he makes his fans wait to see him perform on the big or the small screen but it would be such a treat if he could make a comeback in dramas this year. Any drama he chooses to be a part of will be an instant hit since there are so many people who anxiously want to see him in dramas again. It would surely be a dream come true for his fans.
Mahira Khan
Mahira Khan too it seems has chosen to work on the big screen and she has not yet shown any interest in working in dramas. Mahira Khan for the longest time was known as a drama actress. Mehwish Hayat is another actress who has not been seen in dramas ever since Dillagi. After giving a remarkable performance in Dillagi, Mehwish Hayat also decided to work in films alone. She does not even talk about working in dramas again which is rather sad. Alishba Yusef is an incredible actress with an acting style which is different from others. Alishba has also not been seen acting in dramas for many years now. Although Maya Ali too it seems has moved on to films but wouldn’t it be great if she makes a comeback in dramas? Most of the viewers miss watching Maya Ali on the small screen since she also has a massive fan following. Maya Ali’s last play on television Mann Mayal was a huge hit and after that she has not been seen in dramas again. Would you like to see her in a drama this year?
Aiman Khan
Aiman Khan was part of quite a few dramas right before she got married. Now, she was more focused on her married life and she also had her baby therefore she took a break from dramas. We are wondering if 2020 would be the year when she makes a comeback. Aiman Khan did say before getting married that she might leave showbiz but later on she also said that her decision was not definite. Aiman Khan is still young therefore if she makes a comeback now, she has a long career ahead of her. The fans are waiting for Aiman Khan to announce her comeback on television.
Most of the actors in this list got fame from acting in dramas but they prefer films over dramas now. While film is a much bigger medium and it is every actor’s dream to work in films but many people in Pakistan still do not go to cinemas to watch films. Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was fast-paced and thoroughly entertaining. The writer Mustafa Afridi has been making sure that every episode has enough emotional and meaningful scenes to keep the viewers connected to the characters. For the past few weeks every episode of Ehd-e-Wafa has been impactful and it continues to deliver. This recent episode covered a great deal. In fact all these developments could have been covered in more than one episode but it is good to watch a play which actually is taking off towards the end as opposed to slowing down because that is what generally happens. Usually by 22 weeks, the viewers are waiting for a drama to wrap up but Ehd-e-Wafa still has a great deal to offer. Tonight’s episode was directed brilliantly too. The wedding was covered quickly but convincingly and it was good to see that the focus was on the journeys of the main characters. I am still waiting for Shehryar to get in touch with Masooma, hopefully soon. The best part of this episode was Dua’s surprise and SSG’s reunion.
SSG Reunited
It was great watching all the boys together again. Their scenes together reminded me of the scenes we watched in the first few weeks. Even though they have come a long way in terms of their careers but when these 4 are together, they are still fun and adventurous. These scenes were so well written and beautifully executed. All those viewers who have crazy friends like these 4, must have been able to relate to these scenes. These grown up men who are actually quite serious and practical otherwise, turned into teenagers when they were with each other – that is the beauty of friendship. For a change Shahzain too was quite likeable in this episode and Osman Khalid Butt’s energy went well with the turn his character has taken. Saad too didn’t take the jokes seriously for a change and after a long time, these friends were back together like they were in college days.
The scene covering Firdous sahab’s meeting with the SSG boys after all these years was heart-warming. The respect these boys have given to their teacher and whatever they did to help him has been another inspiring element of the drama. Although, their relationship with Firdous sahab wasn’t ideal but it was that punishment they got in college which turned their lives around in a way. All of them needed such a shock so that they could get back on track. In a way Firdous sahab shaped up their lives with his discipline and strictness.
The Power of Media
Through Shariq’s scenes, the writer showed the power of media. All those people who were criticizing Ehd-e-Wafa for showing the corrupt element of all the institutions and organizations, must watch this episode since it clearly showed that there were people in the media like Shariq and his boss who were doing their job right. It was Shariq’s video that ultimately made all the difference and that is how Firdous sahab got his land back. Later on, Shehryar was ‘punished’ for his role in all this but that did not seem to make much of a difference to him.
The Wedding
Saad and Dua’s wedding was the most sweet and fun part of tonight’s episode. Right from the moment the SSG got together to the scene when Dua enters the marriage hall, the entire wedding was covered brilliantly. Dua gave Saad a big surprise on their wedding day and I absolutely loved Alizeh Shah and Ahad Raza Mir’s expressions in these scenes.
All of Saad and Dua’s scenes tonight were short but really cute. I loved the dialogues and the performances as well. The romance between Saad and Dua has always been sweet and not too cheesy. The credit khane ki machine dialogue was the best! Ahad Raza Mir is a brilliant actor who translates every single emotion superbly on screen.
Shehryar and Shahzain
Shehryar was transferred to Shahzain’s constituency and the welcome scene was one of my favorites tonight. Shehryar’s conversation with Laal Hussain resonated because his father too was in the same profession. Shehryar values people and their occupations in general but this profession is specifically close to his heart because of obvious reasons.
Shahzain’s political and family feuds got a lot of screen time tonight. The writer through these scenes, laid the foundations for what is coming ahead. Will Shahzain die? The story will once again take a more serious turn in the next episode when Shahzain gets injured and Saad goes away for his next mission. All of these boys are fighting some really serious battles and anyone of them can have a tragic ending. It would however be good if all of them stay alive till the end and then perhaps we can watch a sequel in the next few years!
Final Remarks
This was another episode of Ehd-e-Wafa with remarkable performances to its credit. There were so many small gestures shown in this episode which suggested how these characters were supporting each other. Whether it was Ramsha and Shariq, Dua and Saad, Dua and Saad’s parents or Shehryar and Firdous sahab – all these characters in some way or the other are proving to be a viable support system for each other. It was also good to see Gulzar there on the stage with Saad on his wedding. Overall, tonight’s episode was engaging and heart-warming.

Omair Rana is an actor and theatre director. He runs his theatre company by the name of Real Entertainment Productions (REP) that was founded in 2000 and has done over 50 plays ever since.
He is married to the love of his life, Maira Omair Rana. The couple faced lots of hardships in their relationship but their love story will surely melt your heart.
Omair Rans’s wife shared their beautiful story which is going quite viral on the internet these days. She shared, “1995. I was 16. He was 17. We saw each other for the first time in front of Copper Kettle in Liberty Market Lahore. He was a friend of my cousin’s and they met briefly while I waited next to the car. He thought I looked like a snob and I thought he seemed too chummy. So “hmph” teenage moment! We met off and on with the cousin but never got along. Snob vs too chummy didn’t stand a chance!”
“1997. I was 18. He was 19. I was in my BA 3rd year. He still hadn’t completed his A levels…moment of silence there. I took his number from the same cousin and called him one night in June to talk about something pestering me. Something I knew only he could help with. Incidentally he was alone at home and free. So, as fate would have it, the snob girl and the chummy boy ended up chatting the entire night. Something which is quite a heroic achievement in the times of one landline a house. That too in the TV lounge and Amma Abba’s surveillance at its peak. The next few days we ( separately in our own lives) couldn’t help but think of how well we got along in that one chat. It was actually as comfortable as chuddy buddies.”
She added, “So. A few days later I, the cheeti ( as my sister called me later) called him again! From the same landline ( it was an orange phone I still remember that. I still remember his phone number also) and from the same TV lounge. Guess what? Yes! Another all night chat. But drop scene yeh huwa ke meri walida mohtarima aa gayeen subha 5 bajay. She didn’t exactly figure out what was happening but of course antennas were up. And Mr Rana ki to sitti gum ho gayee (which he told me later). He said he walked outside on the road at 5 am for hours panicking that I may be in trouble.”
“Later in the day he walked to a PCO to call and check if all is well. The phone kept ringing and shutting until I picked it up. And a voice said “Sarah?” I said “ uhh no” He said “just wanted to check are you ok?” I said “Yes”. Two telephone conversations later we were both 100% certain that we wanted to get married,” Maira Omair Rana shared.
“1999. He told his mother kyunke bairooni maddad ki zaroorat par chukki thee. Aik rishta serious ho gaya tha. Army Captain. I wonder where he is now…ok. Focus. His mother was super supportive. I collected the himmat to confide in my mother. Jhaar pari lekin qayamat nahin ayee. Baree hee maharat se donon walidas to milwaya. Makhan lagaya. Kiya nahin Kiya. They both said ok we will help you. Plan yeh tha ke my Ami will defer potential rishtas and his mother will bring the rishta as soon as he nears graduation and can talk to Abu with some grace,” she said.
“2000. My Masters done. Itni parhi likhi qabil heroine. Hero ka final year. Finally!!! Rishta aa gaya.”
She continued and said, “2001. Finally a graduate. Hero found a job of 13000 Rs. Wasn’t great but I was ready to marry an unemployed man to Yeh to lottery thee. I started working. With almost the same pay…and Somehow, after two years of convincing and case pleading we got engaged on the 1st of January 2002. By far that day is, even now, the happiest day of my life. If anyone asks me that question, the first image that pops in my head is that night. It was surreal…honestly it was just meant to be. There was nothing going in our favour but somehow it happened.”
Maira Omair Rana said, “Understanding yeh huwee the shadi araaam Se ho gee. Obviously hero was 23 years old!!! But dekhain, dulhan 22 kee thee na…and that’s OLD in a conservative, Punjabi family. To naya katta khul gaya na. My parents wanted it over and done with ASAP and his parents were reluctant. I can understand both sides but qeema kis ka bun raha tha? Aik saal main tension peak par pohanch gayee aur wohee huwa jo filmi stories main hota hai. Hero ko laga unn ke Amma Abba ki “insult” ho rahee hai and unhon ne mangni tor dee… jee haan!!!”
“Lekin heroine ki dhittayee par to medal banta hai. Aadhi raat ko ja kar Abba ko jagaya aur bhaaan bhaaan kar ke dukhi kahani sunayee. Felix felicious feeling thee seriously. He heard me. And somehow promised to take care of everything. And he did. Date set ho gayee. Aglay saal ki! 365 days later.” Acha jee six months before the big day, Mr Rana decided to quit his job and pursue acting. Chalo jee. Naya sayapa. To huwa Kiya? Everyone discouraged him. Except me. But he wanted to satisfy his parents and went to UAE for a job hunt. Nope. No luck. Came back and announced that whatever it takes I am going to pursue my first love. Theatre and acting.”
She further added and said, “2003. To kar li shaadi. We were the happiest people alive. I honestly have seen VERY few couples as happy on their wedding day as we were. We were actually on cloud 9. Ready to take on anything that life brings. Anything.”

Losing his battle against cancer, senior PTI leader and special assistant to the Prime Minister, Naeemul Haq passed away in Karachi last night. As dedicated to his cause as he was, Naeemul Haq battled cancer with bravery, not letting it take over his responsibilities ever.
Celebrities and colleagues from Pakistan’s entertainment industry and politics have expressed extreme heartbreak at Naeemul Haq’s sad demise. Twitter has been flooded with condolences from all, praying for the departed soul.
Very saddened to hear of the passing of Naeem ul Haq sir today. Each time we met his words of encouragement proved invaluable. My condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. I pray that his soul may rest in peace.
