Noor E Zindagi Episode 20 Review – Khawar’s Revenge

0

So, either it is because when you watch a drama without any strings attached you feel differently and when you sit and watch each scene and listen to each dialogue as a reviewer it is a different story – or, I have the anti Midas touch for any drama I think is interesting to review – suddenly stops being just that!! Or maybe these couple of episodes are just dragging the story a bit and the drama will hopefully get back on track soon especially as its nearing the end now – yes, hoping that must be it!

I had wondered what Khawar’s reasons may be to literally push Saleem towards Gulshan and now I know. He was definitely not a true friend, we had established that at the very start but I had thought he may be a mufta and just a faarigh person with warped ideas and beliefs and rubbing them off on his friend but he has a proper agenda now and that is to make sure Saleem falls for Gulshan and that Noor also suffers for having ‘meddled’ in his affairs and having a hand in Saleem seeing Khawar’s true colors. I am amazed that Saleem who can be so stubborn and obstinate when it suits him, chooses to fall for Khawar’s half baked statements and is chummy with him all over again. The conversation between the two at Saleem’s shop was very convincingly done where you could see Saleem being all chuffed up by the attention and respect Gulshan and her family were showering him with.

pic1

Although Noor and Saleem’s track is ‘supposedly’ the main one in this story, we also have a few other stories running simultaneously. A lot of screen time went into Waseem and Zeb’s story in the past few episodes and now the focus was more on Sofia, her brother and Mehru. I actually like Mehru and her husband’s relationship where the two find lots of comfort with each other so even though I felt bad for them with the shart Sofia’s mother in law has laid out, I wished there was more focus on Noor and Saleem. Noor still has not been able to tell Saleem about her pregnancy and I cringed when she is sitting reflecting and her mother in law echoes the same thought earlier as to how now that Saleem will hear of the baby he will change his attitude towards Noor. Masla he saara yeh hai in our dramas and society, ‘shaadi ho jaye, theek ho jaye ga’, ‘bacha ho jaye, theek ho jaye ga’, and the sad bit is that while the ever scheming saas/nand/bahu or desperate in love woman characters are sometimes hard to relate to, statements such as these are very common. Which is why even though this episode seemed to drag a bit, yet a lot of scenes and characters were quite easy to relate to. Noor’s thoughts as to how Saleem may change now, Saleem lapping up attention from new corners, Tabassum Khala’s statement as to how a man when ‘fed up’ with his wife is drawn towards seemingly greener pastures. It all happens far more often than we would like it to I suppose.

One thing I was thinking about now was how Saleem’s heart has totally hardened towards Noor. The complex of being lesser educated, the seed of suspicion of something between her and Waseem, hearing of her broken engagement – has that all made him so bitter? There were the moments when he would watch her and feel remorse for his behaviour, when he dressed in the suit to make her happy then missed her when she was away – has that all taken a backseat now that Khawar’s brainwashing and Gulshan’s chamak dhamak has blinded him? Speaking of blinding, uff what was with all the lighting in today’s episode? Especially in Noor and Gulshan’s scenes when the sunlight would flare in the background – very annoying.

pic2

There were very little in fact, wait there was no scene between Noor and Saleem in today’s episode and although Saleem’s antics, I know I know, make him a dislikable character but Syed Jibran’s acting is so delightful, the gold watch, the visibly chuffed up ego is so spot on I can not help but be impressed at how he has translated Saleem’s character so perfectly! I really can not stand Gulshan’s scenes for the way she speaks is OTT especially as she talks the same way to her mother and sister too! I feel my head must tilt at very odd angles in slow motion while following her scenes the way she cocks her head and gazes from side to side. Man!

Twenty episodes down, Saleem slowly but surely falling for Gulshan, Noor’s suffering in full swing, Sofia and Saas, Mehru and Saas – I do not see this drama ending in the next episode or two. I just hope things pick up and looking forward to seeing how Saleem reacts and his interaction with Noor when learning of the khushkhabri. Saleem miyan will get his nihari – I am left craving for some myself now! Please do share your thoughts about this episode.

Dil Banjara Episode 7 Review – Stunning Locations

Once again the breathtaking locations actually made it difficult for me to concentrate on anything other than the background! I have to admit that I was so distracted by the beauty of this place that I had to watch the episode again in order to focus on the characters and their stories! The beauty of Nepal has been captured in this play faultlessly and because of these locations you get transported to another world. Tonight’s episode showed how Nida and Sikandar were getting closer to one another. While I don’t “blame” Nida for falling for this man but it would have been better if these two did not hold hands in this episode as often as they did. For a girl like Nida, having such feelings for a man should be a big deal and holding hands shouldn’t even be an option. Sanam Saeed and Adnan Malik’s on-screen couple is working for me for now mainly because of the way these two have met, away from home, new place, new beginnings. The “love at first sight” scenario however is a little difficult to relate to but then it happens all the time in our dramas. It would have been good watching Nida think about these major changes in her life- her feelings for Sikandar. I am hoping we will get to see that in the upcoming episodes. While Sikandar is busy having the time of his life in Nepal, Shama was shown thinking about him all the time. Once again Sikandar did not even bother calling Shama which went to show that he wasn’t very reliable. Although Shama’s scenes were somewhat repetitive in this episode but I also felt like they needed to be shown in order to show the contrast between Shama and Sikandar. Having said that, watching her doing something “useful” like painting or anything at all would have made her scenes more interesting.

Nida’s parents’ scene just like always was very amusing. I love the way their relationship has been shown. Even though Faseeha’s husband knows that she does not look at the world and things the way he or anyone else does but even then he keeps on doing things to make her feel special. He gets frustrated a lot and there are many scenes in which he curses her for making his life complicated but there is always one scene in every episode which shows that he loves her for who she is. Hina Bayat and Mohsin Gillani make a great on screen couple. It isn’t very often that the relationship between the hero or heroine’s parents is as interesting as it is in this drama. I actually look forward to their scenes and they never disappoint you. Every scene says something new about their characters and their relationship with each other.

fotorcreated

Dil Banjara so far is a simple story with quite a few interesting characters which give me a reason to tune into this drama every week. The overall setting of the play is not run-of-the-mill and the locations make the drama esthetically pleasing. Apart from Sikandar and Nida holding hands number of times and Sanam’s dubbed voice in the scene after they cross the bridge, this episode was directed well. Also, I feel that I do not know Shama well enough although she got plenty of screen time in this episode or perhaps she is a very simple character. In short, I am very willing to sit down in front of my TV screen next week to know more about all these characters and find out what happens next. The best thing about the way this drama is written is that I do not find myself “judging” the characters too much because I have no trouble connecting to them.

I am waiting to find out if Sikandar really is capable of loving someone and staying committed to that person. Also, will he be able to tell Shama how he feels about Nida and that he does not love her? So far he has been brushing the entire issue under the carpet. Nida said that she simply could not afford the luxury of falling in love with someone – what will she do now?

Seeta Bagri Episode 02 Review – A Decent Watch!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Seeta Bagri was interesting as it unfolded the events in everyone’s life in a very casual manner. I liked this episode for the fact that they have kept things quite light-hearted even though they have showed the struggles of some of the characters alongside too. Even though I know things will become a bit dense & serious in the upcoming episodes but it sure will be an interesting ride to watch because the director has succeeded in establishing a connection between the characters & the viewers!

Nandini has completely fallen in love with Ratan Lal, it is more of a love at first sight thing but she proved that her love wasn’t going to fizzle out because she started taking a stand for him. Ratan brought Nandini to Badrinath’s place because she asked for his help & had nowhere to go in a new city. It was actually quite sweet to see everyone being so welcoming & supportive of Nandini. They all are big hearted people & that is why Nandini felt at home in no time. Nandini woke up from a nightmare as she was scared that something might happen to Ratan. Nandini did say that she has never been scared in her life that is why she survived on her own, it was only because she didn’t have a fear of losing anything or anyone precious to her, but it was kind of sweet to see that just because now she has fallen in love with Ratan & she fears losing him, she started to get scared with the thought of something bad happening to him!

Ratan & Mala are not siblings but they are first cousins. It looked like it was Mala’s father who had some debt but just because he died & couldn’t pay, Ratan decided to take that responsibility as he couldn’t marry Mala off to those people whom her father owed that debt to. It was actually quite heart-warming to see Ratan bearing the responsibility of Mala like a brother & facing the brunt for her sake. Ratan is a hardworking man but the time is not in his favor these days but looks like Nandini has come into his life to sort his issues out. Nandini has already started going out of the way for him because she can not see him in trouble, that is why she didn’t even think twice before paying the money on his behalf as she wants to prove her love without burdening Ratan at that too!

Even though Seeta could see where Nandini was getting to but she had this faith & trust in Ratan, which showed she wasn’t insecure but sadly, hearing about Ratan’s marriage with Nandini shook her a lot as she didn’t see it coming at all. Not sure how Seeta will react & what would Ratan’s reaction be, I am sure he will have a feeling that Nandini was trying to ‘buy’ his love, which actually wasn’t her intention. Even though I liked Nandini’s character on her own, I most certainly don’t ship her with Ratan because they both are a mismatch. Mala & Nandini’s scenes were done nicely too, they added some light-hearted moments in the episode.

Overall, this episode was a decent watch too. I love everyone’s acting, especially Sarwat Gillani’s, she really has acted effortlessly in this drama & her dialogue delivery has improved so much. Syed Jibran has acted flawlessly as well, he has owned the character of Ratan just like Sarwat has owned Seeta’s. Definitely looking forward to the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Seeta Bagri!

Salam Ahmed Drops Out Of Cultural Event In India

0

Singer Salman Ahmed has announced that he is dropping out of a cultural event in Goa to Protest Violence and bloodshed in LOC.
On Wednesday, a coaster en route to Muzaffarabad was hit by the Indian troops killing 10 people and injuring 11 others.
The conflict between India and Pakistan has been affecting the exchange of art and culture between the two countries and the bans enforced from both sides have been opposed by both Indian and Pakistan artists. The only way of cultural interaction are probably these cultural events, from which our artists are willing to drop out of due oppression from the other side. But the good, and thing to be proud about is that our country’s artists speak up and take actions against the wrong.

Sang e Marmar Episode 13 Review – Slow Yet Superb!

Ohkay so, nothing substantial happened in this episode but they did show some reactions of all the characters regarding different issues and it surely was a decent watch & I most certainly had a great time watching it as I always do. This episode might have been slow however, the preview of the next episode suggested a lot more drama so I am definitely looking forward to it.

This time around, Torah got the coverage & he was running the show. In the last few episodes he most certainly took a backseat, so it was necessary for him to put a step forward & conduct his plan. As much as I liked seeing his input in different matters, there were a few things that concerned me as they seemed a little odd, which I will discuss later but for starters, I will commend the writer Mustafa Afridi & also the actor Masroor Paras for giving life to a character like Torah. It is actually quite amazing that even though he is very calculative & manipulative, you can still see through his intentions as to when he is genuinely concerned about someone & when he is just putting up an act in front of someone to extract some satisfaction out of their misery. When Torah spoke to Shireen, I felt everything that he said to her was heart-felt & he was just extending some support to her, may be because he knows that he was the one who transpired everything that brought Shireen to this stage where she had to get married to Safiullah. Even though Torah was sure that it was Saif ur Rehman’s sister who was involved with Gohar, he still felt bad seeing Shireen so down & depressed because he could feel that her life was over & there is no way for her to step out of this deep pit. The thing which I found a little odd was his comment about Shireen giving birth to Safiullah’s child, that too so casually in front of his mother in law, which I don’t think is something that is discussed so openly in such a conservative environment. Also, as much as I enjoy his manipulation, I really wish he had left the ladies out of his agenda, where he was actually enjoying seeing Gullalai in such an emotionally unstable state. Gullalai broke down in front of him because she felt Torah was genuinely consoling her as he shares the same sorrow as her, but poor Gullalai had no idea that Torah was just a spectator who was enjoying the show!

Right now, Torah’s main motive is to keep Gulistan Khan deprived of his dream of having a grand child, that is why he kept brain-feeding Safiullah against Shireen so that he harbors more & more hatred in his heart for her. Torah would do anything to make sure none of Gulistan’s wishes are materialized as he wants to see him suffer.

I felt really bad for Shireen – as if getting married to Safiullah wasn’t enough that now she had to see Aurang & Palwasha together, where their behavior was clearly telling a tale of how much likeness they both had for one another. The moment Shireen stepped into Safiullah’s home, she realized that things won’t be easy for her, but little did she know that she’ll have to see her one true love being in love with someone else as well. At least, Aurang knows everything that Shireen felt, that is why he was a bit conscious & I believe he did the right thing by telling everything to Palwasha too. I don’t know why, but seeing how shocked Palwasha was upon hearing this news, I had a feeling that may be she will back out & may be she will play the cupid by bringing Shireen & Aurang together, I am not sure if it is going to happen but may be because I would love to see that happening, it’s a wishful thinking on my part!

I just love how Gullalai breaks down but picks up the pieces & strengthens herself emotionally as she knows that she has a new battle to fight every single day of her life. She knows Shireen is not at fault & she is just a victim of the circumstances too, that is why Gullalai has never targeted Shireen & in stead, she cries on how no one took a step in the right direction to help her overcome her ordeal. Gullalai may not say it to Shireen but she doesn’t have a problem with her because her complaint is with her husband Safiullah & all those who arranged his marriage with Shireen. I love all the comebacks Gullalai always has in store for Sherbano. Sherbano still believes she runs things in Gulistan’s place but Gullalai showed her, her right place & I am sure Sherbano won’t sit quietly as she has a score to settle that is why as the precap suggested, she will accuse Gullalai of being interested in Torah. I am sure Sherbano has no idea that she is digging her own grave because of all the people, Torah will twist things against her in such a way that she wouldn’t have even imagined!

Overall, this episode was slow but definitely interesting. To be honest, I was relieved to see Gulistan Khan/Noman Ejaz in the preview of the next episode because he was most certainly being missed. Also, it is important for him to be around after Safiullah’s marriage since he is the one who arranged it, so he needs to be well-aware of the dynamics of his house after Shireen’s arrival. Looks like Saif ur Rehman will try to find out the truth & he will interrogate the spy who told Saif ur Rehman about Gohar & supposedly Shireen. I am actually glad that things are going to get intense from the next episode onward, I really wish to see what Saif ur Rehman’s reaction would be when he will find out the truth. Also, I want to see if Torah will help Shireen in any way if he will also learn the truth that it wasn’t Shireen who went to meet Gohar that day. Like always, the performance of all the actors was spot on & even though Mikaal Zulfikar has been performing really well in this drama, in this episode in particular, he looked really nice, like there was some sort of charm in his personality, which was good. Masroor Paras was once again the star of this episode & so was Sania Saeed, I just loved her acting throughout the episode but in that scene in particular where she was trying to get rid of Sherbano as she couldn’t tolerate her bitterness, Sania Saeed portrayed the feelings of a mother who has given up on her hopeless daughter perfectly. So, this is it from my side, please share your thoughts about this episode of Sang e Marmar & let me know how excited are you for the next episode. :)

Aiman & Minal Khan 18th Birthday – Getting Ready Pictures!

Aiman Khan and Minal Khan looked stunning on their birthday and enjoyed the occasion with their family and close friends. We have already posted pictures of their party and now here is an exclusive video from the party in which both the sisters cut the cake and thanked all those people who were there with them to celebrate their special day. There are also some pictures of them getting ready at “Makeup By Hadiqa”. We love their makeover, don’t you?

Siblings In Dramas

0

Brothers and sisters are one’s best friends and the relationship shared by them is so beautiful so lovely and the time they spend together at parents house, they make sure to make the best of it. Whenever we fight, mom reminds us a time will come we’ll be separated. ?

But unfortunately some sibling character in dramas are so boring so annoying and so unreal that I wonder who shares such a relationship with his siblings!

Amjad’s sister in “Dhani”
The background of Amjad’s family is such that they joke about marriage and all, I get it, but this character is so boring. I mean her fixation with her bhabi-to-be and how she teases her brother talking about Dhani all the time, like she hasn’t got anything else to do. Alright, maybe it depends on the type of person you are talking about and maybe such siblings do exist but I don’t find it real how she only has one topic to talk about ie. her brother’s wedding. Yeah, sometimes we too banter about marriage and all (very rarely though) but there’s something in her attitude I can’t relate to. I don’t find their banters amusing nor do I smile on those. In short, I don’t find anything amusing about her character.
Zony’s youngest sister in “Aks”
And I hate it when there are useless characters in dramas. She had no purpose in the whole drama other than saying “Zony baji ye, Zohra baji wo” in a monotonous tone and getting engaged to one person after other. She was the scapegoat of her family. I think it was also because of her acting that I could never like her. I wish they had given her a purpose in that drama and enough things to do there. If not, there was no need keeping her in the drama. If nothing else they could have shown her relationship with sisters in a “realistic” manner.
Qudsia’s sisters in “Asmanon Par Likha”
Asmanon Par Likha was an entertaining drama but heroine’s useless annoying sisters saying boring things and asking stupid questions with no acting skills were so boring to watch. “Nahinnnn! Ab kia ho ga?” “Log kia kahen ge?” “Api darwaza to kholen!” Shedding tears and sobbing in a filmy/dramatic way and expressing worry over, what we can say, small and stupid things! Their acting and dialogues were of such a quality that no one could sympathize with them ulta hansi hi ati thi LOL even when something serious happened to their family. ?
sib
Jawaid’s sisters in “Khoat”
I only watched 6 or 7 pisodes of this drama and then left watching it because of its clichéd storyline. The sisters’ scenes in particular were really very boring! The acting of those actors especially that playing the elder sister was perfectly fine but the dialogues they had to offer and the attitude of their characters towards the brother and his fiancée was simply boring! They too were fixated with their brother’s wedding and the bhabi-to-be, also with the jahez she was expected to bring with her. “Ab hamare pass fridge ho ga” “Aur TV bhi!” Han han as if you’re presently living in a cave! Again, I’m not sure if it happens or not and I don’t know what do sisters say or do when there brothers are about to get married, maybe it depends on the type of person you are talking about and maybe some sisters do say things like that and these characters and their dialogues are reality based, but I found it boring to say the least.
These and many other sibling characters in our dramas tend to annoy us either with their acting or stupid jokes and dialogues.
Where we have such characters, we also have some amazing, positive and “reality based” sibling characters such as
Sara and Zaroon in “Zindagi Gulzar Hai”
They were just like how we siblings are. They supported each other in tough times like we do, they bantered just like we do, Zaroon wiped Sara’s tears like a good brother and understood her problems like is expected from any brother! Sara too supported his decision of getting married to Kashaf. Everything about their relationship be it mutual understanding, cooperation and support, the joyful moments spent together, their banters everything was so good and so real! The on screen chemistry between Ayesha Omer and Fawad Khan also contributed to making it one of the best sibling relationship on screen!
sib
Dhani and Shani in “Dhani”
Sisters are your best friends! They can talk for hours and hours without getting bored, especially at night. They know about each and every thing happening in your life, they give you the best of advice when they feel the need to, they make the best of plans together without others knowing it. They sleep together, eat together and enjoy together. Sister defends you when you’re being bullied by any other of your siblings especially brothers. A girl’s happiness is incomplete without her sister’s presence. They make the best of memories together. And that’s exactly how the relationship between Dhani and Shani is shown to be in Dhani. Two naughty chulbuli sisters whose happiness and grief are mutual. I mean it’s so nice and so real. #SistersGoals ?
sib
Hammad and Ibad in “Khuda Aur Mohabbat”
I was watching the second episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat and was hugely impressed with the relationship they showed between Hammad and Ibad. I mean, I don’t know why but the things I they said to each other (not those stupid marriage-related not-so-funny jokes siblings tell in dramas) and the level of friendship they had where nevertheless the younger brother could be sensed showing respect to the elder one made these characters look real. I think the acting of the actors playing Hammad and Ibad also made it easy for me to enjoy their scenes. I know the sort of relationship brothers share and the type of things they say to each other and based on that, I can say with certainty that their relationship is 100% realistic, relatable and fun to watch. Well done Hammad and Ibad! ?
sib
Maliha and Junaid in “Daam”
I liked drama serial Daam because of the fact that they showed reality based and close to life characters and established their relationship with each other too in a realistic manner. Maliha and Junaid were two siblings and the best of the best friends. In the first half of the drama we saw the sort of relationship they shared and the ups and downs of their relationship as the drama progressed were brilliantly written and portrayed on screen. It’s the brilliance of Maliha and Junaid’s characters  that even though I haven’t gone through all that was shown but was able to understand what happens and how you feel when your sibling ruins your life for his own selfish reasons. Again, they made the most of the time they spent together at parents house. Talking at night for hours and hours, going out to eat ice cream together, shopping together, bantering, having fun together and what not!

Dumpukht- Atish-e-Ishq Episode 19

Ussey pata hai ke Bibi ka pehnaya hua dupatta kaun utaar sakta hai… Habibullah’s evil intentions were finally revealed as Kulsoom found him making a very bold move forward. At one point, Haroon walked in on Habibullah caressing Kulsoom’s face but as expected his ghairat takes a backseat as he can’t conceive his revered Peer would ever do anything unholy. Habibullah would never allow Kulsoom to meet Bilal as he knows that Bilal wasn’t at fault and Kulsoom would believe in his innocence. He “allowed” Haroon to accompany Kulsoom under the pretext that she would be meeting Bilal only to be scorned and silenced.

Meri toh khair hai, mein toh houn hi khawmakhi Ki... Nimmo’s emotional outburst on finding out Kulsoom was out with Haroon was spot on. She knows Bilal is suffering and believes he wasn’t at fault and she also knows there’s more to this story. Her pleas continue falling on deaf ears… Aisi darpook maoun Ki betiyon Ki ban hi jaati hai... Bibi decided to publicly proclaim Kulsoom as her sister to elevate her status and while Kulsoom’s family rejoiced, Nimmo was clearly upset. Nimmo is the one friend who has the sensibility to look beyond what’s at the surface and hopefully she’ll save Kulsoom from being violated by Habibullah.

With Haroon and Bibi dancing to his tunes, Habibullah has complete access to Kulsoom and he’s also confident that even if Kulsoom were to retaliate, no one would believe her. On the contrary, she would get shunned and prosecuted. Kulsoom’s beauty is her undoing as Habib sees his ex in her and he’s so smitten by her that he will go to any lengths to have her. Habib cannot differentiate between love and lust and he’s driven only by his desires.

Bibi’s pregnancy seems to have completely turned her blind as she’s stopped questioning the obvious. I expected Bibi to see through Kulsoom’s lies but she believed her when Kulsoom narrated her “meeting” with Bilal. Also, she couldn’t tolerate Wali yet he’s around ever since the night of the nikah and she hasn’t once asked for him to leave. Is this the same woman who sat on the throne passed down by generations and made decisions on behalf of others? Bibi’s character has gone off track and has stopped making sense altogether. She was one of the most impactful characters at the start of the show but is being sidelined and I hope there’s more to her in the episodes to come.

I absolutely detest Habibullah and Wali which goes to show how brilliantly they’ve portrayed their respective roles. I haven’t seen Sonia Mishaal before but this role will go down as one of her finest. Each week, I’m in awe of the beautiful dialogues and each episode manages to maintain the narrative while making me anticipate the next. This drama is definitely one of my favourites this year. What did you think?

Teri Chah Mein Last Episode Review – Khatam Shud!

0

I’ll be honest. I was looking forward to watching how the last episode plays out. While a small part of me tried to be prepared for a cliché and predictable ending where all is forgiven and everyone lives happily ever after, I did deep down think that the way this drama has been presented so far we would be saved from such an ending. I inched through the episode like someone treading in the dark all the while thinking you may bang into a wall. While I had thought I might need to dig into the typical idioms bag such as ‘reap what you sow’, ‘what goes round comes around’ (you get the idea) – I was instead presented with a rushed sermon on how dare women try to dream and the only ‘idiom’ that comes to mind is – what the hell?

I was left guessing till the end how things will fare out – I will give the writer that. But the whole idea of a woman berating herself for daring to think of herself instead of caring what society wants her to think and then her daughter and all confessing how they had been wrong and Mehwish had the right to dream and do what she pleases with her life – fell flat. So this is where the writer was getting with all this. While I, personally had no issue with Mehwish remarrying and that too a younger man what failed to get through to me was the fact that she would let it be the man her daughter was engaged to and then moreso, her attitude later and how she treats Zara. So even if the writer may have been trying to present a liberating perspective for how women should be treated, it went haywire.

pic1

I kept hoping for a heart to heart, an emotional interaction between Zara and her mother. Didn’t happen. And that stood out like a sore thumb for me – the lack of emotion and feeling between the two. Yes, Zara was worried about her mother and wanted to lay her life down just to have her live and Mehwish wanted to end her life so she could put Zara out of her worries – very noble and very honourable, yes, yes, but not once were there any hugs, any heartfelt dialogues. Zara’s speech at the end which seemed to give Mehwish some relief was not very convincingly delivered but oh well, maa tau Mehwish hai and she accepted it so who am I to complain,eh?

Faisal ‘inn ko, unn ko’ mourn kar kay will go back to Amber. If there was one thing I had been hoping for it was for Faisal to suffer at least in some way, and no those few tears do not count! I guess the whole idea had been to show how a woman must suffer the consequences for daring to tread a new path but where this whole story had been so controversial surely there could have been some surprises come Faisal’s way. By the way, Farhan Saeed had in my opinion fast become quite an actor to reckon with but his acting fell short in today’s episode. His bland reaction to the news Mehwish has cancer while I could have shooed away by saying he was shocked still felt very odd for announcing the next door neighbour’s cat had disappeared may have garnered more of a reaction, methinks!

This has to be one of Samina Ejaz’s lesser evils, I mean, less painful projects for save a few episodes the drama did have its interesting moments. And the biggest plus is that it has gracefully ended on the 18 episode note. While Maria Wasti is an actress who delivers effortlessly I really could not help noticing her makeup which remained quite intact till probably the last few scenes. The scene when she returns from the hospital with her make up intact and then the camera shows Chachi’s face (all dolled up) then Zara’s (all dolled up) and then Tahir’s (all dolled up) – yes, Tahir too! LOL.

pic2

Farhan Saeed acted well through out which is why I expected more from him in the last episode and while it is not as if he was wooden but personally, I felt he could have done better. Saboor Ali as Zara has been very convincing but while she has given up the hoarse screams it seems she has substituted that with another annoying habit, something I could not help noticing which is that she purses her lips at the end of every sentence and I found that a bit distracting. Not being overly critical but well, it sort of took away the edge of what could have been a more impactful scene at times, I felt. But besides that I can not believe I watched an entire drama starring Saboor Ali without wincing at her scenes, for I had almost believed that would not happen after Bhai.

Thank you to the readers who took out the time to read these reviews and contribute to the discussions especially Fatima, mrsmehmood, Fizza and Be La. No more Big Bang, Samina Ijaz, Saboor Ali and Faryal Mehmood for me for a long, long time though! What did you all think of this last episode? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Shehrnaz Episode 4 Review – Ayeza Khan Steals The Show!

So far Shehrnaz is turning out to be a pretty decent drama which definitely has more highs than lows. Ayeza Khan and Sajid Hassan yet again stole the show completely in tonight’s episode. Ayeza Khan is entirely into her character making it very easy for the viewers to connect to Shehrnaz. She has translated Shehrnaz’s (over)confidence, her energy and enthusiasm impeccably on screen. While her confidence is endearing but it does seem like she might have to compromise on a lot more than she is willing to compromise on. I am still wondering why the designer’s tantrums are being given so much screen time but I have a feeling that she will have a bigger role to play in the story. Sherry’s intentions were revealed in tonight’s episode as well. He might have put the ring on Shehrnaz’s finger but he is still the free bird he was before. Shehrnaz and Sherry’s relationship never grew on me therefore Ayeza Khan will have to try extra hard to make me feel for her character if this relationship comes to an end. The preview of the next episode suggested that Sherry has a new love interest and he will probably back out of the commitment he made to Shehrnaz. Watching Shehrnaz getting infuriated over getting the offer for a side role went to show that she was naive and wasn’t willing to start her career with a small role. She only wants to be a heroine, nothing more and nothing less.

KK’s offer did not come as a surprise at all because it was something which was revealed in the promo of this episode. Shehrnaz’s reaction however was truly gratifying and in line with her character. Once again Ayeza Khan breathed life into this particular scene; the viewers could feel just how upset Shehrnaz was to hear what KK had to offer. KK has taken Shehrnaz up like a challenge, he wants to win her over at any cost because he has never met another woman like Shehrnaz in her entire career. Aly Khan was also very convincing as KK; he is someone who is used to getting his way and he thinks he can finally win Shehrnaz over with flowers and gifts. Sherry’s family was completely missing from tonight’s episode, I just hope that the director and the writer keep them in the loop as well. Although Sherry isn’t my favorite character in the show but covering his relationship with his family is just as important as covering his college life. One of the reasons why this character isn’t the least bit appealing is that the viewers have only been shown one aspect of his personality.

fotorcreated

Shehrnaz on the other hand is a well-defined character played faultlessly by Ayeza Khan; her expressions, body language, her get-up and her dialogue delivery make you look forward to her scenes. Also, not only is Shehrnaz’s relationship with her father an integral part of this drama but her father’s character too has been shown on screen in such a way that you are just as interested in his story as that of Shehrnaz’s and there are times when you feel actually more for him than you do for Shehrnaz. Sajid Hassan obviously put in a great deal of effort to make this character different from every other character he has played till date and the director too has created the perfect setting for bringing his and Shehrnaz’s character to life. You can totally see him as a struggling tailor in those clothes and working endlessly in the stitching unit. Shehrnaz and her father’s home too is a cozy place which Shehrnaz might not want to live in for the rest of her life but both of them share some great moments there. The scene between Shehrnaz and KK was shot really well too.

Overall, this was another interesting episode of Shehrnaz which made me wonder what is going to happen in Shehrnaz’s life next and whether she will ultimately become part of the set-up she was seen questioning in tonight’s episode or does the team has something different in store for us?

Hamza Ali Abbasi Will Be Hosting A Show On Bol TV

0

hamza11

Hamza Ali Abbasi,  AKA the King of social media who took over social media with his controversial Facebook status and tweets, will be hosting a show on Bol TV. His first time hosting experience didn’t turn out to be successful at all as he was banned from the Ramadan Transmission that he was hosting on Aaj TV, by Pemra for holding discussions on the Ahmadi community and blasphemy laws during his show.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qWfw5tiAoE

The Pyare Afzal actor, posted a video on Facebook captioning it; “It is time to get rid of the notion that being political or talking about politics is taboo if you are not a politician… Being political is not a profession, not a career… it’s a duty, a necessity.”

Nothing has ever stopped Hamza from bringing up sensitive issues and giving his opinion on controversial matters. Even after being banned on Ramazan Hamara Emaan for discussing Ahmadis, he thinks that such topics should not be taboo.

At the moment, we think that one-word description of how Hamza’s show going to be is “Controversial”. Just can’t wait for it!

App Ke Liye Episode 23 Review – End It Pleaseee!

0

Ohkay so, looks like things are about to wrap up & that gives me joy thinking that this drama is coming to an end soon hopefully. I think it’s high time they should end it because they have almost covered the entire story & if there’s something left, it is Washma & Shaheer’s reconciliation.

So, Shaheer already knew everything that Nishat & Imdad were upto, but being a thorough gentleman & someone who didn’t want to put his sister & brother in law down, he stayed quiet, thinking that may be some day they themselves will realize that they were wrong, but it just didn’t happen. It was actually a relief to know that Shaheer knew that everything Washma was saying was true & she wasn’t fabricating a lie against Imdad. Shaheer finally spoke the truth but still didn’t say as much as he should have because he still respects Nishat enough & may be he still believes that it is Imdad who is wrong but Nishat has never wished ill upon Shaheer. I am sure Shaheer’s trust will shatter once again when he will find out that it was because of Nishaat that his wife Abeera left him!

I liked the fact that Washma took a stand against Shaheer, it was like she had some self-respect & knew that she wasn’t going to die without him, so she stopped her family from intervening in her personal matter, because it would’ve made her look weak & it would’ve turned her into a bechari who couldn’t fight her own battles. Washma knew that Shaheer was wrong, that is why she stayed firm on the decision & didn’t even think about going back as she wasn’t wrong in the first place & she was only trying to help her husband!

Areesha’s intervention came as a pleasant surprise, it looks like she has finally understood that Nishat wasn’t such a well-wisher as she posed to be & she never wanted Shaheer to have a life partner because that way his wife had become entitled to his wealth, that is why Areesha understood Nishat’s wrongdoings & decided to take matters in her hands. I liked how Areesha decided to speak to Shaheer in order to make him realize that sending Washma away was a wrong decision on his part, also Areesha spoke to Washma in order to tell her the truth about what Nishat has done in the past as she was doing it again but this time with Washma.

Looks like Nishat will soon be left alone because Imdad will show her, her right place. Imdad knows that if Nishat can deceive her brother, who trusts her blindly, then she can deceive anyone, that is why Imdad rubbed the reality on her face & chose to ignore her demand of apologizing to Shaheer. Imdad knows that Nishat cares about money, may be more than maintaining a healthy relationship with Shaheer & she still wants to enjoy a chunk of his wealth, which she may not get if Shaheer’d disown Imdad. I am sure it will be Imdad who will tell on Nishat because he knows he has already been exposed so he has nothing to lose, but the one who will get affected by it the most will be his wife Nishat!

Overall, this episode was decent or may be I felt this way because the precap suggested it might end soon if not next week. Let’s see. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Aap Ke Liye!

Moray Saiyaan Episode 03 Review – So Far So Good!

0

Ohkay so, this episode of Moray Saiyaan was interesting too. I like watching this drama because it qualifies as a lighthearted entertainment. The cast is appeasing to look at & the locations are breath-taking. At this stage, the drama is not too dense nor the situations are too serious, so for me, Moray Saiyaan is the sort of a drama that I can sit back, relax & enjoy watching.

This episode mainly covered the budding relationship between Ghaziyan & Zubaria. Ghaziyan has his sights on her & he is not ashamed to admit that, however Zubaria has other priorities in mind. The most important thing for Zubaria right now is to get educated & also to not do anything that would compromise on the trust her father has on her. Zubaria knows that it has taken her family a lot to allow her to pursue her education while living alone in a hostel, so she most certainly can not afford to divert her attention on something else.

Ghaziyan got a chance to spend more time with Zubaria but what I liked the most about the entire thing was that like a true gentleman, Ghaziyan introduced himself to Zubaria’s family. Zubaria knew that her sister in law Afshan might create some issues but she also had an idea that her father & brother won’t mind because Ghaziyan wasn’t a complete stranger as he was Gul Zeb’s nephew.

Zakia is someone who has harbored a lot of grudges in her heart over the years & during one of her conversations, it felt like she also blames her brother Waris for her failed marriage. What I deduced from that conversation was that may be Kabeer was already married or may be he had a son but he chose not to tell to his friend Waris & wife Zakia, that is why Zakia couldn’t forgive her husband because she is the sort of a person who finds it hard to let go. Also, as much as we have been introduced to Zakia’s character, she can easily malign her heart but she can not forget things easily, that is why she still is not on talking terms with Gul Zeb & doesn’t fancy the idea of curbing the differences in order to reconcile with her sister or her husband. I am sure if Zakia will make an effort, Gul Zeb will walk an extra mile for her but Zakia is most certainly not in a mood to do that & now with what Ghaziyan is upto, Zakia has all the more reasons to blame Gul Zeb for her misery!

So, Ghaziyan has proposed marriage to Zubariya. As much as I like watching Ghaziyan & Zubaria together & as much as I like seeing them as a couple, I find Ghaziyan a little too impulsive & immature because in the first episode & also in the precap of the next episode, things were made clear that he was actually & officially engaged to Nimra, so now that he has spotted Zubaria, he has forgotten all about the promises he made to Nimra & may be he has also forgotten about his love for her & that slightly puts him in a bad light because if he had been a man of his word, he would’ve never done that. Also, I am sure as much as Zubaria doesn’t appreciate the attention she gets from Ghaziyan, she won’t be thrilled with the idea of being the reason behind Nimra & Ghaziyan’s break up. But then again, a love story is never complete with some twists & turns, so this is what is going to happen but even though I have said it before, I will say that again, I’d hate to see the sweetest girl like Nimra go through a heart break because of Ghaziyan’s immaturity & sudden realization about his love for Zubaria.

Overall, this episode was a treat to watch too. I love love love the locations they have chosen, it just lightens up the mood. I also enjoy the conversations Ghaziyan has with Zubaria, where he is always teasing her & she has the best comebacks to silence him up. The precap of the next episode suggested a lot of drama, I am sure Zakia won’t be happy with the news of Ghaziyan not wanting to get married to Nimra. Poor Nimra will suffer & Zakia will easily put a blame on Gul Zeb for transpiring everything because Zakia is someone who doesn’t think rationally & loves putting a blame on others that too with so much of conviction. I will thank the director for keeping things to the point & visually appeasing. Definitely looking forward to what team Moray Saiyaan has in store for us. Please share your thoughts about this very sweet episode of Moray Saiyaan.

Adnan Sarwar Voices His Opinion On Art Being Affected By The Indo-Pak Conflict

0

from-real-life-to-reel-life-adnan-sarwar-and-hussain-shah

After making his debut as a director, writer, and actor in film Shah. Adnan Sarwar gave us an entirely new perception of Pakistani Cinema by making the first ever biopic, on the unsung hero of Pakistan, Syed Hussain Shah.

14705014_988579944598336_4079825937397448704_n1

Sarwar, who disappeared for a while after his debut film, recently was seen driving flashy BMWs all the way from Lahore to Khanjarab while shooting for #100hoursofjoy campaign.

In his latest conversation with Images, he talked about his future plans, where he wants to see Pakistani film industry, the kind of roles he wants to play and also about the Indo-Pak conflict.

He told images about how he prepared himself physically for Shah. He had to go through rigors of training, dozens of fights and also reducing 12 kgs of weight and then psychologically to get broken in the process. It took him time to recover from all what he had to go through for the sake of the film. After Shah he’s been doing adverts, planning for his future projects by discussing ideas with some producers, and writing new material.

tumblr_nt8vkzqlhx1qmzrguo1_500

He voiced his opinion on the kind of characters he wants to be written for actors, are not being written which is the reason why he has refused a couple of offers made to him. He told that the thought of what people would like to see doesn’t dictate his artistic direction, He knows what he likes will eventually be liked by the general audience because he’s amongst them.

pakistani-film-shah

He shared his amazing experience on the shoot for the #100hoursofjoy campaign which was planned to celebrate 100 years of Dewan group and BMW. He said that the idea of the campaign was to show people how beautiful and safe it is in Pakistan and to get some tourist in the country.

14659441_107517843054473_1363402394196508672_n1

At last, he was asked for his say on art being affected by the Indo-Pak conflict to which he said:

“First of all, art and artistic exchange should be above politics and war — that is my core belief, and it pains me to see what is going on, on both sides of the border. Artists should be a voice for peace and a bridge between our two countries.

Secondly, if this ban continues, we should all be ready to say goodbye to our nascent film industry. The cinemas will not be able to absorb current level of losses for very long and Pakistan is years, if not decades, away from producing quality films in enough numbers to sustain the local cinema houses.

These are indeed troubling times for those who make a living from the Pakistani film industry and want to see it flourish”.

Kuch Na Kaho Episode 7 Review – Valima or Divorce?

This episode like the previous ones was decent paced, moving the story along in a convincing manner. Aina seems to have grown a thick skin where all she cares about is herself and Imran. She plays on the feelings and trust of the family that loves her and her expressions and then chat with Faraz after he manages to convince Mohsin and Aina’s mother to continue with her studies made me wonder at how selfish this woman is. At the risk of repeating myself, for the drama’s sake and even reality to an extent I can easily stomach liking someone and then marrying them when your family disapproves which is probably where Imran is coming from. I will come to Imran later. But Aina’s family set aside their reservations for her sake and it was Imran’s side that let her down so even if Aina were to marry Imran against her family’s wishes and kept it a secret, she should not be playing on everyone’s feelings. She convinces her fiancé to buy her a few more months before the wedding because she wants to study. Having Faraz and Sajal speak for her and mostly not care how she will let down her mother does not make Aina very likable. She had a couple of moments where she whined to Imran that she can not keep lying but even then it was because she wanted to get over with the secrecy, it was all me-me-me.

Faraz’s two facedness is still understandable for his family played with his emotions and led him to believe one thing while they went and did another and then emotionally blackmailed him. Yes, he should be man enough to stand up and face the music but for whatever reason he wants to keep things shushed for a while. His mother’s divorce factor surely can not be the reason for once his family finds out then what will happen? Maybe that is his plan to keep this marriage hidden for a longer period than Aina would have wished.

pic1

Anyway, does not matter what Aina and Imran want or plan for Ainnie has bigger plans for them. Imran’s disappearance daily from work makes her suspicious and I remember describing her as stalkerish but man, this woman turns out to be a total stalker. She honestly puts all the desperate, I-must-have-this-man-even-though-he-clearly-does-not-want-me female characters in our dramas to shame for they may scheme and scream (ah, that rhymes) but I can not say Ainnie does not make things exciting. She not only follows Imran but then confronts him and Aina and while the whole ‘what is your rishta’ scene grated on my nerves for it played out far too long and I felt like shouting someone say something already, she provoked Aina enough to blurt out that she and Imran are married. Although Hira Adnan’s dialogue delivery is a bit off, her desperation is convincing and there was quite a bit of her flouncing around in those strange clothes – maybe I am not with the latest fashions but to me she looked like an angry peacock!

peacock-pic

Imran’s father still seems to believe or maybe that is another one of his games, that now Imran has had his fun he must divorce Aina. Will Imran be able to take a stand for himself and Aina or will he succumb to pressure? More interestingly for me, will Imran’s father or maybe Ainnie pay Aina’s family a visit and update them with these developments?

There was much less of Sajal-Faraz and Mohsin-Nadia today but for me that worked for it moved the main story along where now Imran and Aina’s secret has come out into the open. There is nothing reassuring about Imran’s character except his passionate vows but he does not come across as someone who can deliver and I wonder if that is really the character that is Imran or maybe the actor gives that impression. We shall soon find out I suppose. While the story, well the jist of it does not seem unique it does not seem very predictable either for I did not expect Ainnie to find out and confront Imran so soon. The fact that this drama airs twice a week also makes it interesting except for some reason, a new episode did not air today. What did you all think of this episode? Would love to hear your thoughts.

She Finally Said Yes To Farhan!

0

latest-pictures-of-urwa-hocane-and-farhan-saeed-from-netherlands-tour-3

As we all know Urwa and Farhan have been associated for quite a long while now and their relation has been noticed by all.

It was just yesterday, when Farhan made their engagement official by posting a picture on his Instagram account, captured in the city of love Paris, captioning it “She said YES.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BNE-gvNBRyf/?taken-by=farhan_saeed&hl=en

Mawra Hocane overjoyed with Farhan’s post, made one of the earliest comments on the picture. By looking at the comment it kind of seems like it was a surprise to her as well.

2016-11-22-21-52-08

Sanam Episode 11 Review – Harib Chowk!

OMG, this episode was so funny that I can’t even tell. Just like Harib implied in the precap that Aan couldn’t understand the silence between them, so I am implying the same thing that if you can’t understand the undertone of sarcasm in my review, then you’re not my friend, lol! Anyways, this episode was boring to say the least because it offered absolutely nothing!

I am not sure what made the writer & the director think that by adding Shabnam’s in laws in the story will provide comic relief in a drama? Sorry (not sorry) but every single time they show up with that hideous tun tun tun music in the background, I am reminded of those 5PM comedy dramas that usually no one watches because they have everything to offer except humor & comedy. Also, I must say, the level of stereotyping in this drama is ridiculous because the way the team of Sanam has implied that those who belong to interior Karachi & speak in a certain way are worthy to be laughed at is demeaning & insulting on so many levels. I think it’s about time that we should avoid this kind of so-called ‘humor’ in our dramas where Punjabis are made fun of their Punjabi language & now Karachites are being made fun of because of the way they speak in a certain manner! Not cool Team Sanam! Also, every single time they show up, they actually change the scenario so much that I feel I am watching some weird drama like Mohabbat Bhar Mai Jaye or Jhanjaal Pura, like I know every drama needs a set of supporting characters but these characters are not even fillers, they are just misfits who do not belong to this story at all!

Anyways, Harib took Aan on a ride, only to sit quietly with her, that scene was done nicely for a change because it showed how he wanted a friend to share his silence with him & Harib knew that Aan was the only one who could do that. This was probably the first & the last scene of the episode that made sense, had some touch of emotion to it & was done nicely, but as the rest of the episode progressed, it reminded me that I was watching Sanam, a drama which is running for the sake of defying basic logic & common sense!

A major part of the episode was dedicated to Shabnam’s in laws & I thank the director for it because I didn’t have to pay attention to what was happening in a drama, not that I need to pay attention to it anyways but still. Shama came to fix Taimur & Aan’s marriage only to find out that Shabnam won’t allow that to happen.

The moment Sara came in with her aunt & spooky zombie-esque cousin, I knew they were impostors & were only there because Sara must’ve told them how Aan & Shabnam were the easy targets as they are a little too simple minded. I must say, I had a good laugh at the way Sara & her aunt forced Shabnam to say yes, it looked like they were selling 3 piece Lawn ka Suit to Shabnam & were persuading her to finalize her purchase, like seriously, bas drama bananay ka mauqa mila hai to kuch bhi dikha do, kuch bhiiiii, beshak uski koi tuk ho ya nahi!

I must say I find Shehroz’s random humanity pangs a bit too funny. After throwing resignation letter at Harib’s face & following Aila like a puppy, Shehroz was now trying to make Aila realize what she did with Harib at his office was wrong? Ye acha hai, pehle teeli laga do phir agg bhujanay ke liye paani bhi khud hi daal do. I had a good laugh once again when Aila announced that she will be moving to Harib Chowk. Uf, so dramatic na!?!?!

So, Harib has finally fallen in love with Aan & looks like in the next episode he will declare his love for her. Lekin bhai zahir hai, jab tak 10 talaqain, 20 halalas aur 50 mangniyan nahi tootaingee, Aan aur Harib ka milan to hoga nahi, so bas dekhte jao. The precap promised some more senseless drama where now Aila will blackmail Harib by showing him some pictures of him & Aan together, to is mai aisa kya hai? I must say I had a good laugh seeing the level of AAG Harib was ready to jump in, hahahah, itni aag mai se to macchar bhi bach ke nikal jaye but oh well, for a second I forgot that I was watching Sanam, kyunki, naam hi kaafi hai!

Please share your thoughts about this episode of Sanam & yes, once again, I thank the casting director for bringing in Hina Bayat in the show, she is literally the backbone of this drama & she is the only one I enjoy watching in Sanam!

Cheers,

During her recent interview with Indian Express, she revealed that working in Pakistani dramas has helped her grow as a human being.

She shared “I grew up in a very conservative Hindu neighborhood. I owe my depth of understanding and empathy across religious lines to the love and affection I have received from the people I worked with, and from fans in Pakistan. This experience has expanded my world view and made me a better human being.”

While praising Pakistani Directors and Producers she said “I have the greatest regard for Siddiqui and Momina Duraid, the creative mind there. They’ve held on to great, poetic story-telling, unlike Indian TV serials. I don’t know if I could have found a similar space for myself in Indian serials.”

The star shared that she was glad to have her Neeyat co-star Mahira Khan in India. “When I found out Mahira is working in Bollywood, I was delighted. And I was so sad when Pakistani artistes were banned,” she said.

#BEATME The Video Featuring The Strong Women Of The Nation

0

“Beat me” the video by United Nations for women in Pakistan, in which women are speaking up against gender based violence, and inviting men to beat them, but only at things they are best at, is trending all over Pakistan.

We can see Momina Mustehsan, Meesha Shafi, Sana Bucha, Sarwart Gillani and Samina Baig with many other prominent women in Pakistan challenging men to beat them with their voice, their words, on top of the mountains, on the grounds, in the fields.

The video sets to break patriarchal ideologies of Pakistani society and shatters the perception that women are feeble and weak.

Khuda Aur Mohabbat Episode 04 Review – & Hammad Is In Love!

Ohkay so, this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat portrayed the feelings of all the characters beautifully. What I am loving the most about this drama is the way how they have elaborated all sorts of emotions through different situations & it is because of those emotions that we are able to understand the characters better with each passing episode. The thing I like the most about Khuda Aur Mohabbat is that it is a feel good drama & by the end of every single episode, you are left with a positive feeling about the entire journey, which is a bonus!

So, this episode showcased everything that Hammad felt about Imaan. To put it in simple words, Hammad only saw Imaan’s shadow & that was enough for him to forgive the rest of the world & get engulfed in her thoughts. Hammad experienced something that he had never experienced before & that is the reason he felt that his heart was telling him something that he shouldn’t ignore. Even though Hammad didn’t even get a chance to see Imaan, but just the glimpse of her forced Hammad to do some thinking & it was only because of her, that Hammad started growing out of all the things that connected him to the rest of the world. It was good that Hammad had his best friend Kamran to confide in but even Kamran couldn’t relate to what Hammad said because even for Kamran, it was hard to digest the fact that a casanova like Hammad would fall for a girl whom he hadn’t actually seen!

Hammad decided to accompany Sunny to Molvi Aleemuddin’s place because for him, the thought that Imaan was near him was enough to feel some sort of connection with her but Hammad never imagined that he would not only get to visit Imaan’s place but will get to see her for the first time too. It was actually quite sweet how Hammad cherished every single moment he spent in Imaan’s house because he could feel Imaan’s presence everywhere. I think it was something absolutely beautiful & then came the best moment of the episode when Hammad got to see Imaan for the first time, he now knew who was it that made him forget everything around him & how beautiful she is.

Shakir accepted the proposal for Nighat & decided to hold a Nikkah ceremony. The entire scene where Shakir tried to invite Amjad Raza to Nighat’s Nikkah was done so well & it made me feel for him so much. Shakir wanted Amjad to share the most memorable moment of Shakir’s life with him but for Amjad, Shakir was just an employee & helping him with a few bucks was all he could do. On the other hand, Hammad accepted his invitation because he valued his relationship with Nighat & more importantly Shakir too. This is what sets Hammad apart from the rest of his family that he not only treats everyone with respect but also with equality too.

Once again, at Nighat’s place, Hammad came across Imaan & this was the first time he faced her. As much as Hammad was confused about his feelings, he was getting more & more chances to fall in love with her. It wasn’t her beauty that Hammad fell for because the way he explained his feelings about Imaan in front of Kamran was enough to tell how pure his intentions were & how high regard he had for Imaan.

Overall, this episode was a great watch. Imran Abbas surely is carrying the drama on his shoulders. Sadia Khan has improved a lot & I wish to see Imaan’s character getting a little more coverage. The rest of the cast has done a wonderful job, I especially enjoy watching the scenes between Shakir & Hammad, there is so much of respect with which they both treat each other & I find it absolutely heart-warming. The direction of the drama is surely great & so is the pace. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khuda Aur Mohabbat.

Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Imran Khan Jokes About His Third Marriage

0

Recently Imran Khan attended a family friend’s daughter’s wedding where he was asked to make a speach. While congratulating the bride and groom, he said he can’t really give them any marriage advice as he himself hasn’t been successful at any of his 2 marriages. He further added that he might be lucky with marriage for the third time and then laughed along with the crowd.

Well, is Khan Sahab trying to give us hints about his third marriage. If he is, then we wish him all the very best and we just hope that he soon puts a full stop not only to his marriage list but also to the “Qaum Ki Bhabi” list.

Moreover, the wedding was attended by Indian Actor Anil Kapoor and Pakistan’s No. 1 Boxer, Amir Khan’s wife Faryal Makhdoom.

Bin Roye Episode 8 Review – Utterly Disappointing

The story of Bin Roye is all over the place; this was another episode which had quite a few developments to its credit yet this entire episode did not have a single emotional moment or meaningful conversation in it. The only pleasant surprise in tonight’s episode was that Adnan Malik has a bigger role to play in the story but then he is just another bland character in a drama which is over-crowded with characters I fail to relate to or feel for. There are characters which grow on your with every passing episode and then there are characters you get even more disconnected from as you watch a new episode every week, unfortunately the characters in Bin Roye fall in that category. There was a time when I had a reason to look forward to the next episode, dying to find out how Saba’s story in particular will unfold but now all these characters are losing their charm because there has been absolutely no character development, the characters that are already there are too plain, the new characters which have been introduced aren’t appealing either and this story has absolutely no twists which will keep you at the edge of your seat.

Once again I could not help but wonder if Saba was adopted since everyone is so concerned for Saman and even the dadi who knows everything and was supposedly so close to Saba pushed her to go live with Irtiza and Saman. Didn’t Saba tell her that she did not want to be around them? Didn’t she make it very clear that she wanted Saman dead? And most importantly doesn’t dadi know she is madly and deeply in love with Irtiza? I don’t understand the relationships between these characters at all. In one episode they are so close to one another and in the next episode it is almost as if they don’t know each other! Also, once again the developments in the story were so rushed, one minute Saman was talking to Saba and in the other scene her father had a ticket in his hand! Last time I checked you needed a visa to go to the US. I let this blooper pass hoping that the directors were rushing us because they had something grand in store for us but once again the Bin Roye team failed to give anything substantial to its viewers. Saba went to the US, ignored Irtiza as usual, Irtiza never bothered having a heart-to-heart talk with someone he had spent every free minute of his life with, to ask what had happened to her and yes she cooked a lot!!! Saba is very sughar all of a sudden and her brownies and coffee are the talk of the town! The mention of Saba’s cooking was repetitive.

fotorcreated

Amir’s conversation with his sister was another one of those plain conversations in this episode which were dragged and did not have much of a substance. Even though Mahira Khan’s performance in Bin Roye has been remarkable throughout but no matter how well she performs one actor whose character doesn’t have much to offer either cannot save a sinking ship! Yes! That is what Bin Roye is in my opinion. The expectations from this drama were huge but I find myself continuously comparing it to Dillagi, a drama which you could just watch because of its powerful dialogues and those deep and meaningful conversations. Pakistani viewers have tons of options nowadays and we have seen some great love stories on television in the recent past therefore I doubt that the viewers will be swayed away by star power and stunning locations alone.

Hamayun Saeed is a total miscast in this role and his talent is being wasted playing a character which has absolutely no depth. Same is true for Mahira Khan.  Someone mentioned that I do not discuss Safeer and Sonia in my reviews, well I don’t even want to talk about them, they are the most useless supporting characters who I want to forget all about as soon as the episode ends!

I am terribly disappointed with this recent episode because once again just like many other twists in the story, these new developments too fell completely flat. There is so much I wanted to see in this episode, so much that could have been shown but it wasn’t. There should have been at least one meaningful and powerful conversation between Irtiza and Saba. Also, the viewers were never shown how Saba feels right now about this whole situation. Yes, she is distant but showing that is just not enough! The writer and the director should have explored this character more so that the viewers could have a reason to stay interested in Saba’s story. Saman’s character is already quite robotic therefore I had absolutely no expectations from her whatsoever. What this drama lacks are emotions, you hear the characters say things about each other but do you feel them?? Well, I most certainly don’t! Also, with the exception of Mahira Khan, everyone’s make-up was so cakey tonight including Adnan Malik who usually does not wear a lot of make-up.

Oonchi dukaan, pheka pakwan is how I would sum up Bin Roye! How many of you watched this episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Short Film Chashm-E-Num

0

In his latest conversation with images Ahsan Khan talks about his upcoming short film, expected to be released in the first week of December in commemoration of Disability Day,Chashm-e-Num. “There’s no trend for short films in Pakistan,”Ahsan said to images.”They rarely get a run in cinemas, even though this is common internationally. Major filmmakers around the world make short films. In Pakistan, even feature length films don’t get a decent run in cinemas . So,I thought I should make short films and introduce the trend.”

Chashm-e-num is about 2 visually impaired people falling in love, but a web of lies awaits them.

Other than Ahsan, the film stars Jasmin Khan and Amar Khan who is a filmmaking graduate from Beacon House Nationa University and also the writer of the film. The film features a song sung by Amanat Ali.

Ahsan Khan suggested that “We should make a lot of short films and hold festivals in Pakistani cinema and sell tickets, run eight to ten short films per day.” He also talked bout the risk he has taken by putting his money on this film, but he thinks its worth taking.
