Bridal Couture Week is an event held twice every year by HUM TV in Karachi and Lahore. HUM TV has announced the schedule of first edition of this years Bridal Couture Week. The even will be held in Karachi from May 9 – 11.
Since its inception the event is sponsored by Pantene. This year more than 20 designers will showcase their bridal collection. The event will be choreographed by Hassan Sheharyar Yaseen.

It’s that time of the year again when Pakistanis are busy in weddings which bring with them a whole new influx of fashion trends and glamour ideas. In the bling of the season, Pantene Bridal Couture week started from the 8th of December. It was a star studded affair with all the designers putting their best foot forward. These are some of celebrities who stole the show.
Team Arth 2 were the show stoppers for Fahd Hussayn. Shan and Mohib Mirza wore short black sherwanis while Humaima Malick wore a pink and gold gown and Uzma Hassan was stunning in maroon and gold traditional lehnga.
Mifrah’s collection has all the muted shades includes peaches and golds and were presented by models Cybil Chowdhry, Sadaf Kanwal, Saheefa and Sunita Marshal.
Showstopper for Reema Ahsan, Mira Sethi stunned in a luxurious plum lehnga and golden shirt that was heavily embellished. All her models were adorned in deep dark colours.
Humayun Alamgir presented a collection called “Poshak” which was full of dark velvet sherwanis. Bilal Abbas Khan walked the ramp for him in a deep red velvet sherwani.
Sajal Aly walked the ramp for Mohsin Ranjha. His collection was called “Gulab Sandesh” and Sajal was beautiful in a mint blue short peplum shirt and double layered flared lehnga.
The beautiful makeup for all the models was done by Team Nabila. It graviatated towards sheer base, highlighted skin, golden eyes and pink lips. Jewellery pieces were by Hamna Amir and included beautiful heavy birdal pieces.
First day’s collections were all gorgeous and we are excited to see what comes in the next two days.
Bridal Couture Week 2018 started at a high note with some of the biggest celebrities walking on the ramp for the most well-known designers. The collections and the overall environment of the show was simply amazing. This first day was one of the biggest opening in the past few years. Friday night saw some of the biggest names of our entertainment industry walking the ramp at the Hum Bridal Couture Week.
The day one of the bridal wear extravaganza showcased exquisite collections by Amir Adnan, Yasmin Zaman, Rizwan Ahmed, Impulses by Ayesha Farid, Naushad Imad, Arsalam Iqbal, Gogi by Hassan Riaz and HSY. Many stars were seen strutting bridal collections by burgeoning fashion designers of Pakistan.
The Bridal Couture Week is full of variety and creativity. Bridal Couture Week is known for being the grandest and most awaited bridal event for the country’s finest designers to showcase their work. Bridal Couture Week has started and some of the finest designers of the fashion industry are showcasing their talent.
Fahad Hussain, Mnr Designs and Erum Khan are some of the designers that showcased their dresses on the first day.
Natasha Lakhani, granddaughter of the legendary Madam Noor Jehan, is a top Pakistani makeup artist. Her salon is famous for celebrity makeovers, and her skills have made her one of the best in the industry. Many brides blindly trust Natasha Salon for their special days, including Mehndi, Barat, and Walima. However, the salon is currently facing backlash for poor services and unprofessionalism.
Recently, a Walima bride, Fatima Afzal Sheikh, exposed Natasha Lakhani and Natasha Salon for unprofessional work and disappointing services.
Fatima revealed that Natasha, whom she had paid 80k in advance, used very old and worn-out makeup palettes for her big day. Despite having healthy skin, her base turned dry, yellow-toned, and cracked within minutes, and Natasha applied a warm red lipstick even though Fatima had specifically said it wouldn’t suit her. Her hair quickly came undone, and her dupatta wasn’t properly pinned, adding to the disappointment. Fatima said the artist arrived late, with earphones in, barely listened to her preferences, and completed the entire makeup in just 30 minutes, leaving her feeling ignored and frustrated. She revealed that the makeup artist used alcohol-laden makeup wipes that burned her eyes. Even her photographers were alarmed at the poor results, and despite trying to stay composed, Fatima admitted wiping off part of her lipstick in tears during the photoshoot.
The bridal client further warned others not to book Natasha for their special day, saying, “PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF BOOKING YOUR MAKEUP WITH NATASHA. She doesn’t have a Google location, or I could have just read the reviews and saved myself from going to her based on just her ‘Instagram aura.’”
The bride also sent a DM to Natasha on her official Instagram page, which went unanswered. Besides this, Natasha’s behavior was reportedly humiliating toward the bride. Read here:
Fatima further added, “Bear in mind she has over 1 Million following – I have had 300+ horrible reviews in my comments about her unprofessional attitude and poor service and you were right about her deleting comments. Beyond Beauty Natasha has deleted all the comments made on her Instagram and not responded to my refund request message on insta or whatsapp”
Social media users are also criticizing Natasha Lakhani. One wrote, “Her connection to singer Noor Jehan is the reason for her fame… which is why people follow her.” Another commented, “She did a horrible job on Areeba Habib as well. The girl is so pretty but looked so average at her wedding.” A netizen thanked the client, saying, “I’m proud of you for speaking up and warning others.” A fan also criticized her professionalism, writing that she offers one-sided terms and conditions, stating that each complaint should be denied and that there is no refund policy.
Zanjeerein is a drama which is gaining a lot of love and appreciation. The show has been loved for strong story line and performances while we also got to see some beautiful locations in this show. The drama got the audience out of typical drawing rooms and showed us breathtaking havelis and valleys. The drama was not shot in Karachi where most of the dramas are shot.
The drama Zanjeerein is shot completely almost in Kalabagh. The Kalabagh Resort is the main location which we saw as Sherdil and Sarbuland’s haveli. Breast cancer is cancer which develops in the breast cells. Breast cancer is by far the most common cancer in women worldwide, both in the developed and developing countries. Men can also get breast cancer but that happens rarely.
Symptoms of breast cancer
Breast can occur due to a number of reasons such as a lump in the breast that looks and feels different from the surrounding area, inverting of the nipple, redness or blood discharge from the nipple, pain in the breast, swelling in the breast, changes in the skin of the breast.
It is important to get one checked if they feel any of these symptoms, disregarding them can worsen the problems.
Causes of breast cancer:
Alcohol
Drinking two to three drinks a day have about a higher risk compared to women who don’t drink alcohol. Women who drink alcohol should not have more than one glass a day to reduce the risk of breast cancer.
Increasing age
Older women are more likely to be prone to breast cancer than younger woman.
Being overweight
Older women who are overweight due to menopause tend to have higher blood insulin levels, which have been linked to some cancers, including breast cancer. Women should try to achieve and maintain a healthy weight. Eating healthy and doing exercise on a regular basis can help counter the chances of breast cancer.
Family history
Chances of breast cancer are higher if the disease has been part of the family. But usually people with no family history have also been diagnosed with breast cancer.
Inherited genes
Breast cancer can also be passed down by genes from parents to their children.
Periods
Menstruation in women usually begins around 12-13 years of age. Beginning menstruation at an earlier age than 12 years can be a cause of breast cancer.
History of breast problems
If a woman has had a medical history of breast problems in the past she is more prone to developing breast cancer.
Having a child at an older age
Women who give birth at an older age are more prone to getting breast cancer.
Not having ever been pregnant
Subsequently, women who have never ever been pregnant are more inclined to getting breast cancer.
Awareness month
October is the month of breast cancer awareness. Breast cancer awareness is an effort to raise awareness and reduce the stigma of breast cancer through education on symptoms and treatment. Inkaar, a drama with the motto “say no to drugs” revolved around drugs, won the hearts of many for it dared to bring the topic to light in times when our drama industry was still struggling. PTV at that time was given the credit because it remained the first channel ever that aired such a drama.
In 2010, the drama Bol Meri Machli which revolved around the premarital sexual relationship between a girl from middle class and a poet who for personal pleasures, trapped the innocent girls, the aftereffects of abortion, the life of a girl aspirant to become a model but instead, becomes a victim of molestation and sexual assault, and a girl getting married to a gay.
The drama raised a lot of questions but was, later admired for the fact that it unveiled the problems considered taboos in our society.
Another drama, Meri Zaat Zara –e- benishan , portrayed the misuses of religion for personal interests. Portrayed how a woman so religious, swore to God for false allegations she put on her daughter in law and suffered afterwards. Roag, remains one of most emotional dramas that showed child abuse and how rape affects a girl’s life and how a kidnapped child is raised as a criminal who sells drugs and suffers from sexual assault which makes him an HIV positive. It, furthermore depicts how a girl who adopts kids before marriage is ridiculed and blamed for having premarital relations.
Khuda Mera Bhi Hai, another thought-provoking drama deals with the life of a woman who gives birth to the third gender and is looked down upon throughout her life.
Udaari , the latest drama revolved around child abuse and how the victim is threatened to keep her mouth shut. It gave a fair representation of the monstrous culprits. Ahsan Khan, the antagonist displayed a sheer amount of brilliance when it comes to his acting skills.
Tanveer Fatima BA, a drama not so popular but was definitely a thought-provoking one for it depicted the lives of feudal lords who brutally murdered and blackmailed people. The drama was aired in 2010.
Besharam highlighted the life of a model who strives to attain respect from the society but is disappointed , for all she gets is disrespect and people looking down upon her . Her dialogue from the drama “ Sab miljata hai , dolat , shuhrat , bas izzat hi nahin milti” says it all . The models and actresses of today can all relate to her life for they face the same in our typical society.
Nazar – e – bad, a drama which deals with another crucial problem, is another hit. Revolving around black magic , it provokes the thoughts of many . We live in a society where people greatly rely on black magic to get things done. This drama shows how it is unwise to rely on such things for it destroys those on whom it is done, along with those who do it.
Pakistani drama industry has undergone a lot of positive changes and the dramas now being produced have a lot to offer apart from just entertainment.
The fact cannot be denied that our actors and actresses are not only talented but hardworking as well and this is the one of the key success factor that makes our dramas hit worldwide. This industry is for sure still in a growing stage on a production level, however the competition in the industry is getting intense day by day as new talent pours in every day.
In previous years we all have noticed how some actors and actresses have been typecast in dramas. Directors also love to sign those artists who knows how to perform particular role better as in the past they were offered with same kind of roles again and again. This obviously saves director’s time and energy as they don’t need to put much efforts on actors to bring out their best for a particular role. Hence we criticise some actors on their acting when they try to appear in different roles.
What I believe that some actors are versatile but typecasting wastes their versatility exponentially and this is the reason why they attempt to escape typecasting by choosing different roles that are opposite to the type of roles they are known for.
The topic here is to mention some actors and actresses who had recently proven themselves that they can also perform other roles brilliantly.
Ayeza Khan for “Pyaray Afzal” and “Jab We Wed”: Previously Ayeza Khan had always remained the biggest victim of type casting. I am a devoted fan of Ayeza Khan because she is one of those actresses who knows how to deliver expressions along with dialogues. She can literally nail down every character but unfortunately she appeared on screen mostly playing sad roles which earned her a title of “Roti dhoti Aurat”. Even the performance in AKS as a rebellious daughter and a comic role in a soap “Ghalti si Mistake hogai” didn’t help her to get away from this title. Due to typecasting her popularity graph remain steady for years however her performance in “Pyaray Afzal” as Farah did not even help her to gain immense popularity but also given her diverse portfolio. “Jab We Wed” is her another project where you will find her doing perfect variation in her character just like Pyaray Afzal.
Maya Ali for “Shanakht”: The fictional character of Cinderella might have helped her to step in the industry successfully but in no time she was tagged with a name of Tom boy. From “Aik Nayee Cinderella” to “Ranjish Hi Sahi” she performed the same character of outspoken, stubborn and careless girl except for Aunn Zara. I still remembered that she was very upset when audience was criticising on her acting in “Khoya Khoya Chand” and I told her to take this criticism in a constructive way. Maya had struggled a long way to get breakthrough in Industry. I always believed in Maya because I know she got potential and someday she will make her mark in the industry. She finally manages to escape away from tomboyish roles and turned down every finger that was raised on her acting by absolutely nailing down the character of “Qurat-ul-Ain” in Shanakht.
Faisal Qureshi for “Bashar Momin”: He is among most veteran actor in the Industry, so his versatility cannot be questioned. However it cannot be denied that in previous few years he literally bored the audience through his constant grim face on screen, well currently in “Main Bushra” he is doing the same role again. Faisal Qureshi had indeed got a diverse portfolio but I found his role as “Bashar” in drama “Bashar Momin” the most diverse role among all the roles he had performed in the past. Thus by playing against the type he had ascertained audience that he can provide variation whenever needed.
Meekal Zulfiqar for “Laa” “MSKSH”: When there is a role to play as cheating spouse or a disloyal husband, Meekal Zulfiqar is director’s favourite choice. Whether it is Shehr e Zaat, Durr e Shahwar, Paani jesa Pyaar, Aik kasak dil mein reh gai or Izteraab his roles were evidently same. There is so much that can be offered to him but due to typecasting his talent was undoubtedly wasted. Meekal Zulfiqar recently played against type by choosing the project “Laa” and “Muhabbat Subah Ka Sitara Hai” where he proved that he can nail down every character brilliantly that comes in his way. Meekal for sure needs to do more diverse roles if he want to claim best actor award.
Ismat Zaidi for “Koi Nahi Apna”: I still remembered that I mentioned her the sweetest mother of the industry. Well you can say that just because of her loving nature probably this is the only role that suits her. Recently Ismat Zaidi successfully manages to break this mind set by doing a sort of negative role as greedy mother in Koi Nahi Apna. Although Koi Nahi Apna wrecks in all departments but Ismat Zaidi created opportunity for her that she can perform negative roles as well if required. I am not sure whether she had performed negative roles in the past or not?
Samiya Mumtaz for “Sadqey Tumhare”: Just out of sheer curiosity I always wanted to know one thing that Samiya either on her own free will or it is just that she is offered with the role of “Dukhyaari Aurat” every time. From “Meri Zaat Zara-e-Benishan” to “Ranjish hi Sahi” to “Do saal ki aurat” her role was quite similar in which she beared atrocities and sufferings. We all know that Samiya can also perform other roles impeccably and finally she proved to audience in “Sadqe Tumhaare” that if negative role comes in her way she can perform it in a flawless manner. Her performance as “Rasheeda” cannot be praised in simple words as she played against the type. I am hoping that she will perform more varied roles in future.
Typecasting is nothing but just a sheer waste of talent and artists should select more diverse and strong roles in future if they want to stay in competition. What do you guys say about it and do you remember any actor beside these ones that played against the type recently?
The entertainment industry of Pakistan has just again lost one of its artist who has reported to have committed suicide. Actress Neesha Malick, who was all set to enjoy her debut in Pakistani movie best of luck this Eid, has committed suicide in Lahore. As per the latest reveals, it has been found that she hanged herself to death at home after a minute dispute at home. Police is still in search of the real cause of death.
