In a world full of crying and abused heroines, evil mother in laws ad sister in laws and heroes with zero IQ who believe in everything anyone says to them except their own wives, Pinjra is definitely a unique experience. The drama focuses on problems that arise among parents and children regarding parenting and how these differences shape a child’s whole life.

Ab Kar Meri Rafugari – Episode 6

So, this episode showed us Jazib’s path to recovery and Tabaan’s mein beqasoor hoon falling on deaf ears. Tabaan’s fate has been sealed and she is to be married off as soon as possible.

Although Mujahid had till now been shown to be a stern man, he nonetheless (until this episode) came across as a loving father. In the scene where Shakeel makes a huge fuss over Tabaan standing outside the gate, I like how she stood her ground. Mujahid does not have much to say which I found a bit strange and ‘resolves’ the matter by announcing that Tabaan will not step outside the gate. Matter resolved (sigh). I was taken aback when later Tabaan slapped Shakeel. I really did not see that coming and even more so, when Mujahid slaps Tabaan. A few readers commented last week, that there are quite a few scenes of physical abuse in the novel and that made me watch this episode with quite a wary mind.

Meanwhile, whilst dominoes of thappars is being played at Tabaan’s household, Jazib begins physiotherapy and begins to walk again, albeit with the help of a stick. He seems to be contrite and sorry when he kept apologizing to his parents in the last episode but we realize that was only temporary (if that).

Chachi’s plea to Shakeel to not cause a fasaad made me laugh. So rich coming from her when she is the ultimate fasaad hunter! Mujahid has come up with the perfect solution to the whole fiasco – Tabaan ki shaadi. Waisay I love (sarcasm) how that is the solution in all the dramas nowadays. Larka peechay parha hai, shaadi karwa do jaldi se, kissi se bhi. Larki ko koi pasand hai, shaadi karwa do kissi se bhi minus the pasand. Larki nay cheenk maari – shaadi karwa do. Okay, maybe not.

Like always, Tabaan is not told anything but her seemingly new love of hanging around in the kitchen seems to be keeping her well informed – when she overhears the ‘Aunty’ speaking to her mother and Taayi about what Shakeel told her and then now of Mujahid’s plan to get her married. I was surprised at Tabaan’s (non) reaction to the decision of her fate. I expected a bit more from her since we are shown she is a confident girl who is not afraid to speak her mind but I suppose the slap from her father has shocked and subdued her.

Jazib so did not seem to be the romantic intense hero and rather an old majnu (and not a very brainy one but then I guess majnu was not the most rational person alive) when he walks off in the direction of Tabaan’s house in his pyjamas and with his stick. When Tabaan’s mother says to Taayi that she did not see the vehshat in Mujahid’s eyes and that woh kisi bhi rah chaltay kay haath thamma dain gay I was like haan haan tau Jazib abhi he guzra hai bahar, ussi kay haath thamma dain!

I do not understand the reason for Shakeel’s interest in Tabaan. He was beside himself with anger when she slapped him so I wonder is it revenge that makes him insist his mother speak for his rishta. But if so, he would have just said that to her. His line about how bahu aap ki marzi ki ho ya meri, hashr tau uss ka hona he hai was funny. While Taayi and Myeda have such a lovely bond with Mujahid’s family, Chachi and her good for nothing son are just as awful. I have to say, Sakina Summo and Ali Safina played their parts really well as the trouble making, despicable duo today.

I wish Tabaan’s mother had more of a backbone and could stand up for her daughter for nobody seems to tell Chachi off for yelling all the time, so her mother could at least defend her. Yes, she and Taayi are meant to be mild natured but it is depressing how they just take the back seat as Mujahid runs the show. I find Tabaan’s interest in wanting to know what Jazib looks like easy to relate to and with Jazib not looking like he is going to back off, I suppose the two will meet and things will begin to go downhill. Well, further downhill!

I watched the OST yesterday and it seems like quite a bit of violence and rona dhona is to follow. When Usna Shah was gearing up for tears in the scene she slaps Shakeel, I thought no,no, please no…a weeping (read gasping) Usna has been done to death and I can not take any more. Although we were saved from it today –Allah say kuch aur he maang laiti – I am not sure what is to follow.

There is nothing about the play or the storyline that seems to be new. But then, most of the dramas on air or at least the ones I am watching do not seem to be showing anything new and what really sets one apart from the other are the cast, direction and production values and I can not really complain about either of these in Ab Kar Meri Rafugari. I guess it all boils down to now how interesting the story remains.

Are many of you following this play? What did you think of today’s episode? Please share your thoughts!

Ab Kar Meri Rafugari – Episode 1 – 5

An iDream Entertainment production and directed by Adnan Wai Qureshi, Ab Kar Meri Rafugari airs on ARY Digital every Thursday at 8pm. It is an adaptation of the novel by the same name written by Saira Raza.

I had watched the first two episodes earlier and then missed the next three so I caught up by watching them online this morning and with food cooking at the choola again (shami kebabs this time), I will try to recap basically what has happened so far.

Ab Kar Meri Rafugari is the story of three brothers’ families living in a joint family system. The eldest brother is dead however his wife Taayi (Humaira Zaheer) and daughter Myeda (Mira Sethi) still live there. The second oldest brother Mujahid (Usman Peerzada) and his wife (Nida Mumtaz) have three children, Zoofi (Maryum Ansari), Tabba (Usna Shah) and a young son. The youngest brother Sajid (Hashim Butt) and his wife Chachi (Sakina Sammo) have three children, the eldest being Shakeel (Ali Safina).

The three families are shown to be quite conservative and set in their ways, rather the brothers are and the youngest Chachi who is portrayed as a trouble maker. They are quite firm about not entertaining any proposals for their daughters from outside their ‘baradari’. The older two bhabhis are reasonable, well meaning women who share a close bond but do not have much say in the family matters as Mujahid seems to be the key decision maker.

Taayi wants to get Myeda married and after several potential rishtas which fizzle into nothing and following reluctant permission from Mujahid, she gives a photo of Myeda to a rishtay walay aunty (Zaheen Tahira). At the same time we are introduced to another family which is that of Sultan (Shakeel Yousuf) and his wife (Shamim Hilali) and their son Jahanzeb (Daniyal Raheel).

Sultan and his wife come across as a well to do, respectable couple who dote on their only son. Jahanzeb’s mother is also looking to arrange a marriage for her son and meets with the same rishtay walay aunty that Taayi has spoken to. Earlier on, Jahanzeb sees Tabba at a flower shop and is instantly drawn to her and when he sees her in the ‘group’ photo that Taayi has given of Myeda, he announces to his mother that he will marry only Tabba.

Myeda receives a proposal and everyone is happy when her baat gets pakki. The rishtay walay aunty puts forth Daniyal’s rishta to Mujahid for Tabba saying the family would like to meet with them and he agrees. When the Sultans arrive, they are greeted very warmly but after they leave Mujahid says he will say no to the proposal as they do not belong to their baradari? Why didn’t he just ask the aunty on the phone what the family’s background was? Or was it that she had caught him off guard by ringing him at work and talking about the proposal that it slipped his mind?

Anyhow, Tabba is unaware of the whole scenario. Jahanzeb is heartbroken and keeps pushing his parents to speak to Tabba’s family again. Apparently till now he has not aankh uttha kar looked at a girl and now that aankh utthaayi tau waheen attak gaya hai! I have to hand it to his parents, man, full marks for persistency! Sultan goes to Mujahid’s office and even gets the mosque imam involved to speak on their behalf. Yet Mujahid is adamant and keeps turning him down and is actually beginning to get quite annoyed.

Meanwhile, parents ko tau aagay lagaya he hua hai, Jahanzeb feels he needs to put in his two cents and resorts to lurking around her college and her home. He bribes little street boys and manages to slip letters to Tabba. Initially she resists but then can not help taking them and reading them once at home. She does not reply but is curious and does not tell anyone in her family about the letters.

When Mujahid goes to pick them from college one day, he sees Jahanzeb there. Zoofi also spots him at the mall when they are out shopping. Mujahid spots him again hanging around their mohalla and he is furious. With Sajid and Shakeel accompanying him, he sets off in a rage to beat up Jahanzeb. He then rings Jahanzeb’s father, taking full responsibility for his actions and threatening him with a much more grim outcome next time if Jahanzeb does not quit following his daughter around.

Jahanzeb is at the hospital now all bandaged up and his father persuades him not to tell the police the truth and just say he was mugged by thugs he did not recognize. Due to all the hungama, Mujahid restricts Tabba’s movements and she learns about Jahanzeb’s rishta. She shares the letters with her sister who tears them all up. Tabba is very curious and interested now to know more about Jahanzeb.

That was the story in a nutshell. Well, a bit bigger than a nutshell I suppose! To be honest, even though I am not blown away by an aspect of the drama be it the storyline, the direction or the acting, I still like it. I liked the relationship Myeda shares with her cousins, Tabba and Zoofi. Their bond seems very real and natural and cousins, especially those living in a joint family system may have different personalities like these three do, as Myeda is the shy and serious one whereas Zoofi and Tabba are much more outspoken and confident, but I like how they stand up for Myeda and are often shown to be chatting and giggling together. But then you also have the weird cousin Shakeel and his trouble making mother which are characters quite often found in real life too.

I found the whole scenario of Jahanzeb hanging around Tabba’s college and her house, slipping letters – although borderline stalkerish – and Tabba being drawn to reading them and arousing her curiosity all very easy to believe. I am not a huge fan of Usna Shah’s acting in bechari roles but she seems to be convincing enough in her role here so far.

I know Usman Peerzada is a great actor and has appeared in quite a few dramas lately but this role of an overly protective, set in his ways and outraged father suits him perfectly. I had goosebumps (well, sort of but I did sit up and take notice) when he barges off to beat up Jahanzeb and then makes the phone call later to Sultan. Although I did cringe over Jahanzeb’s wails –not out of sympathy though. Yes, I have watched probably too many Indian movies as a teenager and believed he should have either fought back or grit his teeth and taken the beating without wailing like a banshee! Shakeel and Shamim Halali always act well although I do prefer Shamim Halali in her sweet mother roles rather than an evil saas (Aye Zindagi and Aitraaz).

Daniyal Raheel’s persona is that of a mommy’s boy and hence his scenes with his mother did seem very real. However, I found it really hard to connect his personality with that of the lovestruck man in the letters. Even his parents are in denial and shock over his harketein, letters parh laitay tau kia sochtay! Mira Sethi’s dialogue delivery has improved considerably over time. Usna Shah and Maryum Ansari have yet to have given outstanding performances ever, but so far seem to fit into their characters. Ali Safina’s voice grates on my nerves and I do not know, I just wish Sakina Sammo had been given a different role to play.

I find it a bit overwhelming when there are so many characters in a play and wonder how a balance is struck by showing different tracks but at the same time not digressing from the main one. However, the scenes in the drama seem to unfold well in a sequence so far with no particular scene being dragged out as far as I recall. The OST is nothing to write home about, I suppose I have been spoiled by Rahat Fateh Ali and Qurat ul Ain Baloch crooning one beautiful song after the other.

Overall, I like the story so far. Mujahid beating Jahanzeb up was a bit dramatic I thought, but I still it is refreshing to watch something outside the realms of doosri biwis and cheating husbands and plotting saas, bahus and nands, although Chachi is no saint either.

I am curious if anyone else is following this drama? Please do share your thoughts.

Ab Gora Ho Gaa Pakistan, the debate of fair skin

Fair Complexion or Gora Rang is preferred choice of most of persons in Sub-continent including Pakistan. Many beauty products manufacturer exploit this demand and there are dozens of products for male and female for this. The trend is criticized many times, but still it is here to stay unless we are not willing to change our mindset.

It again become a center of debate when few weeks ago a new beauty product is launched by renoun cooking expert Zubaia Tariq aka Zubaida Aapa. Heating debates were observed over social media discussing whether Zubaida Tariq has rightfully worked for this product for not. Though remain un-conclusive as always, it attraced interanational broadcaster BBC Urdu who have mentioned it specifically on their site. Here is the video for this report from BBC Urdu, which raises questions over this trend to locate the answers as well. The ad launched with the tag line ‘Ab Gora Ho Ga Pakistan’ which is now changed after criticism.

Aatish Episode 3 & 4 Story Review — Developments

So episode 3 and 4 were all about Asma realising that even though she considers herself to be more than just a maid’s daughter that is not how everyone else sees her. The first time this reality dawns on her is when Saad bhai tells her Saadatmand is not only suitable for her but actually a better human being when it comes to human decency. The prospects of marriage that only seemed like a bad joke weren’t a bad joke anymore but her reality and she found it really hard to cope with. The only saving grace of this play is Hina Altaf the woman does her part brilliantly. She outshines every other actor in the frame be it her playfulness or her sadness she does it all right. It is commendable how Asma is all playful yet she isn’t naive. She had her expectations from people but she was quick to embrace the reality as it unfolded in front of  her. Sheheryar like I said in the last review hasn’t realized that he has been falling for Asma for a while now. Everyone else notices that he is changing except him. He is the only person who says it how he sees it. As everyone finds it convenient to play the givers role and pretend that they are doing Asma a huge favour by marrying her off to Saadatmand, Sheheryar is the only one who not only sees through this hypocrisy but also points it out. The writers meant for him to have an insight most characters in this play lack. He saw her as a maid when everyone including Asma thought she was more than that and now that he has made that clear to everyone he doesn’t like what it is doing to Asma. fuyyu_Fotor_Collage In a rather unexpected turn of events Saadatmand raises a question that seemed out of character for him at the moment but in retrospect it isn’t. He belongs to the working class that’s very religious and very affected by things like who is the father of the woman he is about to marry. Saadatmand tells nano that he can not marry a woman with questionable past. He knows who her mother is but her father is unknwon. Basically he implied that Asma is a bastard. That combined with the humiliation of being called a maid again and again by Salar’s fiance Maria and her mother totally broke Asma. To make things even worse for her Maria and her mother claim that Asma was trying to steal their precious jewels and no one comes to Asma’s rescue. If you think that is the end of her misery I’d like you to think again, for when she finally puts herself together and tries to be a part of the celebrations with a smile on her face Salar’s mother in law to be reminds her again that imam zamin rasm should be done by someone who is family not a maid and yet again everyone who claimed Asma was a sister or a daughter to them quietly watched her embarrassment. gjhujhkjbkjh_Fotor_Collage Watching her suffer has made Sheheryar uncomfortable too. What he thinks is just a soft corner for Asma is much more than that and people around him might see that before he does. Overall the story is pacing well but there is A LOT of eavesdropping in this play. Most of the story so far has revovled around people eavesdropping here and there and that’s the only method how the plot is developing. Acting wise Hina Altaf is a one woman show here and even though Madiha Rizvi doesn’t get enough screen time but she does justice to the time she actually gets. How did you like this episode of Aatish?

Aatish Episode 1 & 2 — Review Story

Produced by MD Productions ‘Aatish‘ is the new prime time drama serial on Hum T.V that airs every Monday. The drama serial has been written by Shagufta Bhatti while Saima Waseem has directed it, it stars Azfer Rehman and Hina Altaf in the lead roles of Sheheryar and Asma respectively. What attracted me to watch this drama was the catchy OST. Hassan Munir’s composition along with Sabir Zafar’s lyrics and Ali Tariq’s voice give the sound track a very soulful touch worthy of a love saga. The drama revolves around Asma (Hina Altaf) who was left at the house where her mother worked as a maid when she was just a baby. Asma’s father was an alcoholic and her mother was scared he might sell baby Asma some day just to get some booze so out of that fear she left Asma with the lady (Azra Mansoor) she worked for. Asma calls her Ammi and even though she knows she is the daughter of the maid who worked at this house previously she still considers herself part of the family. Aatish Episode 1 & 2 --- Review Story Azra Mansoor assays the role of lady of the house really well she is kind and wise and basically everything you expect a granny figure to be. Ammi lives with her son Saad (Aqeel Abbas) and daughter in law Nazia (Madiha Rizvi) Anna bee and her grand son Hadi. Asma is portrayed as a very immature and childish character but then again that could be Asma’s coping mechanism for dealing with her past trauma. Asma regards Saad as her elder brother and Saad Bhai also considers her a part of the family which is why he is always invested in her studies. He keeps encouraging Asma to study and make something of her life but Asma finds it hard to focus on her studies and that’s what Asma’s days revolve around working, taking care of the family and struggling with studies. Unlike Ammi, Saad and Hadi Nazia treats Asma mostly like a maid. Things go a little berserk in the family when Naureen Appa (Saba Hameed) who is Ammi’s eldest daughter comes home from America. Naureen’s husband died because of which she had to raise her two sons Salar and Sheheryar (Azfer Rehman) alone. It is established that Naureen lead a tough life alone in a foreign land and raised the two boys to be successful independent men. The reason behind this visit to Pakistan is Naureen’s intention of getting her elder son Salar married to her late husband’s niece Maria. Salar is portrayed to be a very elder brotherly figure who is an obedient son and very affectionate towards everyone on the contrary Sheheryar is the mischievous young-ling who still needs a lot of growing up to do. Aatish Episode 1 & 2 --- Review Story When the two adult kids Asma and Shehryar meet the results are naturally disastrous. They avail every opportunity of making each other miserable. It is evident that they have started forming an attachment that both of them are unaware of. Because of Naureen’s and her son’s arrival Ammi appoints her house help’s son Saadatmand for extra help. Naureen suggests the idea that since Asma is so pivotal to this household she should be married to someone like Saadatmand who lives and works in this very house so Asma wouldn’t have to leave Ammi ever. Asma is not a huge fan of the idea and for the first time she has started acknowledging her place in this family which is noting more than that of a maid. The plot looks predictable so far but we await to see how and when both Asma and Shehryar will realize that despite the differences between them they have both formed a bond like nothing they have experienced before. Overall the story isn’t something new so it would be a challenge for the entire team to make this drama stand out from the rest of the same genre. Most of the times in Pakistani dramas the portrayal of Pakistani American nationals isn’t convincing enough same is the problem with this drama. I understand that the budget and time factors limit the amount of detail that can be worked on in such projects but it’d be nice to see such portrayals done right once in a while. Saba Hameed, Azra Mansoor, Madiha Rizvi, Hina Altaf and even Saadatmand are doing a great job at assaying their roles. On the other hand Azfer Rehman’s portrayal of Shehryar seems a bit forced same is true for the actors playing Salar and Hadi. The soundtrack as mentioned earlier is top notch. I have previously seen Hina in serious roles and this role is the exact opposite of what she has done previously but she surely is nailing it. It’s a good start despite some flaws and we are intrigued to see where this journey takes us. How’d you find the first two episodes of’Aaatish’?

Aasmanon Pay Likha Review – Last Episode

0

This drama was a complete disappointment for all its fans (including me). We have been waiting for a romantic scene between the leads since the past 23 episodes and got one right in the end and that too was only 3 minutes long. It took a lot of effort for me to go through the whole last episode and I had been delaying watching it since a week.

photo 3 - CopyThe last episode was an absolute drag! Aaliyan was still running after Natasha, trying to mend things with her and asking her to compromise and forgive him. There were more Natasha and Aaliyan scenes than of Qudisya and Aaliyan. This show seemed more of Natasha and Aaliyan’s story than of the main leads. I breathed a sigh of relief when Natasha and Aaliyan had a teary good bye (he still did not want to let her go), and I thought now Qudsiya and Aaliyan would be shown together. But once again, I was in for a disappointment. They had to show various conversations between Rana and Sultan which were not needed at all.

And FINALLY when Aaliyan went to Qudsiya to take her back, she refused to go. She gave a long list of reasons why they would never be able to be together. She wanted to be left alone because she did not want to suffer the same fate as his mother. The only thing that finally made her end her rant was Aaliyan’s one simple dialogue:

“Apko apke Shamsa apa ke bête per bharosa nahi hai kiya”

photo 2

Aaliyan had made it absolutely clear that he would never behave like his father. His father had married her mother for a child and then left her when Aaliyan was born. In the last episode, they finally revealed the details of the past which they should have done a long time ago. I am still not sure what Shamsa’s relation was with Shahnawaz. I had assumed that she was his sister, but then Aaina always called her Tayi Ammi (father’s brother’s wife) which does not make sense at all. They were a lot of loopholes that the writer left open. There was also no coordination between certain scenes. One minute Aaliyan was asking Shahnawaz to convince Qudsiya to come back to him, and the next minute they were happily living together.

photo 4 - Copy

One part of the last episode that I liked was Sultan finally coming to his senses. His conversation with Qudsiya is what made him think. He had insulted Qudsiya all over again and this time Qudsiya did not remain quiet. She gave him a piece of mind and his conscience was finally awoken when Qudsiya asked him what he would have done if the something similar happened to his own daughter

‘Betiyon ke rishte daulat se nahi, kismet se bante hai’

This dialogue kept on repeating in his mind and he also remembered Aaliyan’s word. He felt guilty for whatever mistakes he had made in the past which he was now repeating.  Aaliyan was shocked when Sultan praised Shamsa and told him that she never stood up for her rights as her ego and self respect was above everything. Same was the case with Qudsiya, but Aaliyan was adamant to get her back in his life and he finally succeeded in the end.

Aaliyan’s confession to Shahnawaz about his feelings for Qudsiya was extremely adorable. Shahnawaz kept on asking Qudsiya to stay with them but finally gave up when he saw that she had made her decision. I would have liked to know what happened to Shahnawaz and Aaina too.photo 5(1)

Sajjal Ali was definitely the star of this show; her acting and expressions was  absolutely perfect! Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui has improved a lot in this show but he still has a long way to go. Emad Irfani needs acting classes; his monotonous delivery and expressionless face ruined most of the scenes. Sanam Chaudhary has also done a commendable job (her screeching will echo in my ears for a long time). Dado’s character played by Azra Aftab was also one of my favorites!

The story needed to be a bit improvised and the direction needed to be smoother. The show had so much potential; I wish they had utilized it properly. Well, at least the OST was good!

Sorry for the late review, I was on a bit of a holiday!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 8 – Stagnant For Now!

0

I found this week’s episode totally dragged, and there was not much progress in the story either. Natasha’s tantrums, Qudsiya tears and Aaliyan’s frustration; we have seen enough of this in the past few episodes. It is high time the story moves ahead now. I want to see Emad Irfani and what role he would be playing in the show. The story needs to spice up a little to keep the viewers hooked.

The most prominent development in this episode was Dudi’s realization of how serious the situation is at Qudsiya’s house. She went to meet Qudsiya’s parents with the intention of making them understand the situation, and leave Qudsiya back at her house. When Qudsiya announced that Dudi wants to meet them, her family was on the seventh sky as they thought that Aaliyan’s family has accepted Qudsiya as their daughter-in-law and all was well. Little did they know what Dudi’s intention was for going to their house!

photo 5(7)

What Dudi saw there made her change her mind though! She had just started the conversation and was pointing out what a huge blunder they have made by letting this wedding happen in the first place, when Zaheer’s health started deteriorating again. Because of his condition, Qudsiya stopped her from saying anything further and Dudi quietly took Qudsiya back with her. I simply love Dudi and Qudsiya’s bond; Dudi understands Qudsiya so well!

Aaliyan was relieved when Dudi decided to visit Qudisya’s parents. He wanted the matter to get settled as soon as possible because it was causing trouble in Natasha and his relationship. He had expected that Dudi will clarify everything and leave Qudsiya back at her house, but was shocked to see Qudsiya in his house again. His frustration and anger was at its peak when Natasha once again lashed at him for lying to her.

photo 4(7)

Natasha created havoc once again when she saw that Qudsiya has turned to Aaliyan’s house. This time even Qudsiya was not spared, and she lashed at her in anger too. Her accusations and questions were highly insulting in my opinion, and Qudsiya was in tears by the time Natasha was done with her. Next, it was Dudi’s turn and she did even care that Dudi was the eldest in the house and deserved a little respect. She rudely spoke to her and called her ways old fashioned on her face! I really hope she stays adamant on her decision of staying away from Aaliyan now! (Though it seems highly doubtful)

photo 3(4)

I could not believe my ears when Aaliyan told Dudi that he was fine with Natasha the way she was, and did not want to change her. I agree with Dudi that if he intends to marry Natasha, then at least she should respect him. She downright insults him every time and is always screaming at the top of her lungs. I hope Natasha’s chapter closes soon and we get to see more focus on Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s track.

photo 1

It was sad to see Aaliyan behaving so rudely with Qudsiya all of a sudden. If Natasha behaved rudely, it was still understandable because that was in her nature. But Aaliyan behavior was pretty unexpected; he was a completely different person in this episode. The kindness and sympathy in him has simply vanished, and he literally told her to go from his house. He did not even care if her father was unwell and according to him, it was not ‘his problem’. Dudi’s answer to this statement was bang on and Aaliyan was surprised that Dudi was taking Qudsiya’s side now.

photo 2(10)

Dudi has stopped Qudsiya from going back to her house, but for how long will she able to stay in the house now that Rana and Sultan are back. I have a strong feeling Dudi will take her with her to her sister’s farmhouse which was vaguely mentioned at the end of the episode. She would clearly not leave her alone in the house when she knows Sultan’s nature. Can we expect to see Emad’s character at the farmhouse? Well, this is just a vague guess from my side.

Hope we get to see something exciting in the next episode!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 7 – Not Much Progress!

0

This week’s episode revolved mainly around Natasha and Aaliyan and the focus was more on their relationship. There was not much progress in the story, but overall it was a good episode. I thoroughly enjoyed watching all Dudi and Aaliyan’s scenes.  Qudsiya and Aaaliyan both are comfortable with Dudi and I guess, so far (ironically) this is the only thing common between them!

The only one who understands Qudsiya’s situation clearly is Dudi. Qudsiya has told her everything that her family is going through at the moment, and what would be their reaction when they hear about the divorce. Even her own mother and sisters are not ready to understand her position and Qudsiya had to turn to Dudi for advice who could understand the situation she was stuck in. Dudi always gives the most genuine advice and is very practical in her approach. She wanted to meet Qudsiya’s parents to make everything clear to them, and from the looks of the preview for the next episode, she is going to realize what Qudsiya has been telling about her father was 100% true and not at all exaggerated. So far, she was not too much worried about the situation but now after seeing everything with her own eyes, she will definitely be tensed and worried about the mess that Aaliyan had created.

For most part, the episode focused on Aaliyan and Natasha. If Aaliyan is careless, then Natasha is clearly very immature and I doubt such a combination can work. Aaliyan is trying his best to explain the situation to Natasha, but every time some thing or the other happens that again brings doubts in her mind. I do not understand how Aaliyan is able to handle her tantrums though. He somehow keeps calm during her tantrums and then once her anger has faded away, he easily manipulates her. He really knows how to handle Natasha! This time Natasha had to go against her father to side with Aaliyan, and what I found surprising was that he did not care if her father was upset or was against their relationship.

Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s cute interaction in the car was as usual very entertaining. They both are complete opposite of each other. Qudsiya is practical, realistic and has a sober and reserved nature. Aaliyan, on the other hand is care free, full of life, and has a highly impractical approach towards life. This contrast makes their interaction even more interesting to watch.

‘Shaadi Ko Maante Nahi Per Kaam To Saare Shoharon Wale Karte Ho’

Dudi could not help but tease Aaliyan who openly says that Qudsiya does not mean anything to him, but he always ends up helping her in one way or the other. After Qudisya and Aaliyan scenes, it is Dudi and Aaliyan scenes that I look forward to. Also, the scene where he comes in her room and complains that Qudsiya had practically kicked him out of her room was simply hilarious! Even Dudi could help but smile at his words.

Qudsiya had taken Dudi’s advice very seriously and when Aaliyan came to her room, she rudely told him to get out! The poor guy had come there to return her earring and Qudsiya realized her fault a little too late. The next day, he made it absolutely clear how offended he was by his behavior. His adorable expressions was definitely a treat to watch.

Adil and his mother scheming was one part of the episode that I wanted to skip. Adil wants to get married to Qudsiya’s sister because of Qudsiya’s relationship with Aaliyan’s family. This track in my opinion is completely unnecessary. They should focus more on Qudsiya and Aaliyan’s story now. I am still waiting for Emad Irfani’s entry. Hope he makes an entry soon!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 6 – Aaliyan ‘The Saviour’

0

The show is currently moving at a steady pace and they are showing the post marriage consequences in detail. The wedding might have been rushed, but attention is paid to the reaction of each and every member of the three families.

Though, Aaliyan’s whole life has turned upside down, he is still adamant to help Qudsiya through this problem. He does get frustrated and rude at times but at the end of the day, he always comes to save her. When she called him up and requested him to come to the hospital, he blatantly refused but then ended up in the hospital because his conscience kept on pricking him. ‘Mujhse kisi ki pareshani nahi dekhi jaati’, this is what he told Dudi when he informed her that he went to the hospital to meet Zaheer.

aaliyan 2The conversation with Zaheer made him highly uncomfortable because the poor man was thanking him for helping him through this tough time and considering him a farista but in reality, he was going to leave his daughter soon. The blind trust Zaheer was showing in Aaliyan made him feel guilty, and he left the room as soon as possible. Zaheer might play a very important role in Qudsiya and Aaliyan’s life. He might be the reason behind Qudsiya ending up permanently in Aaliyan’s house.

aaliyan 3Qudsiya’s family was in trouble again when Sultan purposely changed the policy concerning medical bills. Aaliyan once again turned savior for Qudsiya’s family when he gave the money for the hospital bills, and changed the policy. Aaliyan is truly a man with a heart of gold; he might be immature and careless but his kindness overshadows the other traits of his character.

aaliyan 4The scene where he did not recognize Qudsiya when she called him up and she actually had to explain ‘Qudsiya Jis Se Apki Shaadi Huwi Hai’ was truly hilarious! I felt so bad for Qudsiya; it must be so humiliating to know that your husband does not even remember your name. What I noticed in this episode is that Qudisya is finally warming a bit towards Aaliyan. Her expressions when Aaliyan paid all the bills without being asked could not be missed. After everything that he is doing for her, it is natural for her to be grateful to him at least a little.

aaliyan 1Natasha is a confused girl, and she really does not know what she wants from Aaliyan. Her conversation with her father proved that. On one hand, she does not want to leave him and on the other hand, she wants to either forget him or get back at him. Aaliyan had tried his best to make Natasha understand the situation, and the only thing he expects from her is to trust him. I completely agree with Aaliyan’s statement that there is no relationship without trust.

Mehmood has a bad perception about Aaliyan mainly because he judges him through Sultan’s character. Sultan and Aaliyan’s nature are poles apart. Aaliyan has gone after her mother which has been observed and mentioned by Dudi and his step-mom many times. Another mystery that has emerged is about Aaliyan’s mother. Why she left him and why Aaliyan gets angry when someone mentions her, these are all questions that I am really curious about.

aalyan 5Another trait of Aaliyan which I found pretty admirable is that he never hesitates to speak up when he sees something wrong happening. He stood up to his father when he purposely changed the company’s policy to get back at Zaheer and his family for trapping his son. He also interfered during Qudsiya’s marriage when her in-laws were making demands.

The only sensible person I find in the house is Dudi who understands the whole situation perfectly. She believes that Qudsiya and her family are not after money and they consider the nikkah real, and she tried to explain this to Sultan and Aaliyan both. Aaliyan has not solved their problems by doing the nikkah; on the contrary, he has created more problems for them.

Sheheryar’s acting definitely needs improvement. His expressions are over done at times and you can notice how hard he is trying to act. Natasha’s (Sanam Chaudhry) acting was better in this episode and even her hair style was much better than last time. Sajjal Ali was simply mind blowing. Her dialogue delivery, expression everything is always spot on!

Really looking forward to the next episode!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 5 – Qudsia Finally Speaks Up!

0

I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s episode as it was full of surprises that were least expected. Aaliyan is slowly realizing the gravity of the situation, and that it is not as easy as he thinks!

photo 4(1)Natasha created havoc after hearing the news of his marriage, and the situation got worse when Qudsiya entered the picture. Aaliyan was already trying really hard to convince Natasha that the marriage was a sham, but Qudsiya’s pleaded him to not give her divorce and this made Natasha angrier, and Aaliyan was left in a difficult situation. It is about time he realized that Nikkah was not some casual matter and it has to be taken seriously at any cost!

photo 2(3)I always had the feeling from the start that Qudsiya would find any ally in Dudi, and this is exactly what happened. Dudi is the only one who thinks that Qudsiya is not after money and wants to stay at their house because she is in Aaliyan’s Nikkah, which is a justified demand. She patiently heard her side of the story, and also made it clear that the real daughter-in-law of the house would only be Natasha because their family matches up to their status. She wanted to make everything crystal clear to Qudsiya about this situation, and she understood Qudsiya’s problems too. I hope Dudi sides with her in the future because she is in for a rough time ahead!

photo 3(2)Mehmood’s reaction to the whole situation was completely justified. No father would continue the engagement in such a situation even though he was given the surity that the marriage would not last long. Mehmood seems like a very practical man because after what Aaliyan did to his daughter he should have broken ties with the family. Sultan’s lie also got revealed when Qudsiya came in front of Mehmood; she made her position clear that she does not want divorce because of her father’s deteriorating condition, and I was shocked to see Mehmood showing kindness to Qudsiya instead of being hostile towards her. I wish Natasha had also inherited some of Mehmood’s traits; she is such an immature person!

photo 5(1)The highlight of the episode for me was Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s first fight. I am glad that Qudsiya spoke up for herself instead of pleading and crying in front of Aaliyan. After hearing Aaliyan’s rant on ‘my personal life is getting disturbed’, ‘I went against my family to help you’ Qudsiya got angry and gave him a reality check.

‘Mujhe Nahi Pata Apko Is Neki Ka Mashwara Kis Ne Diya Tha’

Aaliyan was totally shocked to see Qudsiya angry and his ‘bas bas kitna bolti hai ap’ dialogue made me laugh out loud! The scene was power packed and Sajjal completely nailed it. It is just surprising to see Sajjal’s versatility in such a short span of time. Actor takes decade to show the kind of versatility she has shown in the matter of 2 to 3 years. She has done unique roles in shows like Sannata, Nanhi and the telefilm Behaad which I had thoroughly enjoyed! I wish I could say the same about Sheheryar; his dialogue delivery did not impress me in this scene and his expressions were also overdone in my view.

photo 1(3)Another surprising discovery was that Sultan’s current wife is not Aaliyan’s real mother. In her discussion with Sultan about the current Nikkah situation, she told him ‘uski ziada tar aadatein apni maa per gaee hai’. I am sure we will get to know more about the past in the upcoming episodes. I am also looking forward to Emaad Irfani’s entry. I am curious to know what role he will be playing in the show.

Really looking forward to the next installment!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 4 – A Helpless Qudsiya!

0

Not much happened this week in the show, it was more of a filler episode in my view. Everybody was after Qudsiya’s life and this frustrated her to no end! Qudsiya has had enough of the ‘qismat’ and ‘naseeb’ dialogues, and she got angry and upset with her mother when she told her to go back to Aaliyan’s house.

photo(23)
‘Jis Larke Ka Apko Naam Tak Yaad Nahi Ap Uske Ghar Mujhe Bejhna Chahti Hai’

Qudsiya was adamant on not going back to Aaliyan’s house because she feels that they are big people with small hearts as she had already seen in the span of a day. Plus, Aaliyan does not want to keep a relationship with her, and has already made it clear that he wants a divorce soon. Now going back would mean throwing your self respect away, and Qudsiya does not want to do that.

Qudsiya and Aaliyan are thinking about divorce while Zaheer is busy making plans for the Valima. I was amused by his wishful thinking that Aaliyan’s father would approve of Qudsiya, and accept Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s relationship. He is still tensed whether Qudsiya would be able to settle in the new house. Though Qudsiya’s mother tries her best to convince him that everything is fine, he still looks unconvinced. He is the only person who truly cares about Qudsiya in my view. The rest are all worried about ‘what people will say’

The biggest disappointment for Qudsiya is her mother who failed to understand her and emotionally blackmailed her by taking her father’s name. ‘Tumhara jeena marna ab wahi hai’ who says things like these nowadays?

photo(27)
‘Woh Aasman Hai Aur Hum Zameen, Hume Apni Aukat Nahi Bhulni Chahiye’

Qudsiya’s mother tried to explain the positive sides of her marriage (they were pretty lame in my view!) but Qudisya gave her a stark reality check about the situation. But in the end, Qudisya had to keep her self-respect aside and go back because her mother did not leave a choice for her.

photo(87)I have a feeling that Dudi will be the one supporting Qudsiya in the house. She defended Qudsiya and her family in this episode when Aaliyan’s mother suggested giving Qudsiya’s family money to ward them off. The most hilarious scene for me was when Sultan (Aaliyan’s dad) was getting angry at him and Aaliyan was busy with his phone. He sure is a careless person and even Sultan points that out with that ‘mere manager tum se ache hai’ dialogue. I found Sheheryar trying too hard to be careless! His expression and body language was a bit overdone in my view.

photo(26)Aaliyan finally shows signs of worry when he sees the clipping of his marriage with Qudsiya on the news. They all had thought that they would get out of this mess quietly, but now that the whole world knows about the marriage. It would be difficult to deal with the situation now that their family’s reputation is at stake!

photo(28)Natasha’s expressions and weak dialogue delivery was a huge turn off. She had a stoned expression on her face when she heard about the news of Aaliyan’s wedding! Also, her acting in the scene where she barged angrily in Aaliyan’s house was not up to the mark.

photo(25)Qudsiya’s frustration was at its peak in this episode. First, her mother was not ready to listen to anything, and now even her sisters were talking along the same lines as her mother. She clearly told them what Aaliyan had told her regarding the marriage and he only did it to give her protection. But they kept on insisting that he cannot divorce her and he might change his mind. Qudsiya just gave up in the end; she did not know how to convince them of the reality of the situation.

photo(24)Okay, so how did Qudsiya’s earning appear out of nowhere?  She had no earrings when she left the hospital, but the earrings magically appeared when she came back home. Attention should be paid to these kinds of things because they can get pretty obvious at times.

The preview was absolutely mind blowing! I am really looking forward to the next installment!

So sorry for the late review!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 3 – Qudsiya’s Naseeb!

0

This show is getting better by each passing episode! I am simply hooked to the show and hanging on each scene. The story did seem illogical because of the situation in which Aaliyaan and Qudsiya got married, but I can ignore that because the drama is very well made and the story is progressing at the right pace.

I was right in my assumption that Aaliyan is very close to his Dudi as was shown in this episode. She is the only one in the house who actually understands him. I loved the bonding between both of them, and the way he shared his all his problems and worries with her. She was the only one who understood that Aaliyan had married Qudsiya to give her protection, and he had not relationship with her; but that does not mean she did not try to explain him the consequences of his actions. Aaliyan’s parents; however, were more concerned about Natasha and her family’s reaction to this news. On one hand, his mother was worried about her brother’s (Natasha’s father) reaction to the news of the Nikkah and on the other hand, his father was worried about the effect of his rash decision on his business since Natasha’s father is his business partner.

photo(78)I really did not like Aaliyan’s attitude towards the nikkah; the nikkah is no big deal for him at all. He casually mentioned divorce in front of Qudsiya which shocked her to the core. He only intends to stay married to her till she needs her protection and her family issues get resolved.

‘Ap Isse Shaadi Na Samjhe Aur Na Hee Mujhe Husband’

photo(76)But apart from that, I simply loved the way he took care for her. The scene where he went to her room and asked about her well-being was a very heartwarming scene. He is also trying to make her feel at ease by continuously talking to her like he did in the car when he goes to drop her off at her house. Aaliyan also could not take his eyes off her when he saw her dressed with such simplicity. Their chemistry made all their scenes more enjoyable! Sheheryar’s performance in this episode was pretty good. Sajjal was also brilliant with her expressions!

‘Kiya Apko Kam Bolne Ki Beemari Hai Ya Ap Mujhse Baat Nahi Karna Chahti

photo(9)Aaliyan couldn’t help but ask Qudsiya this after getting no response from her. The situation may not be a big deal for Aaliyan, but Qudisya is very disturbed because of the mess she is in and this is also the reason behind her cold behavior with Aaliyan.

Qudsiya had been through a lot in a span of a day, and even her family deserted her when she was in trouble. She was forced to marry against her wishes and nobody cared for her feelings; her mother also blamed her for the mess they were in. Even Aaliyan’s father did not spare her and said some really degrading words for her that left her shocked and speechless.

‘Mujhe Nahi Pata Aaliyan Tumhe Yaha Kis Keemat Per Le Ker Aya Hai’

2It was really cruel of Aaliyan’s father to speak about her character in such a way, but what else can you expect from a business minded person who thinks everything can be bought!

1378154_166559640215034_518380180_nWe also saw the entry of Natasha (Aaliyan’s fiancée) in this episode. Her acting so far is average and frankly, I couldn’t see past her hairstyle! What were they thinking when they decided to give her this hairstyle? Natasha is currently upset with Aaliyan because he has no time for her, and she thinks he does not care about her feelings. Aaliyan had confidently said that dealing with Natasha would not be a big deal, and here Natasha is not even ready to talk to him!

Aaliyan and Qudsiya were stuck in a pretty awkward situation when they reached Qudsiya’s house. The whole family gave the new couple a warm welcome, and both did not know how to react to this. Qudsiya’s chachi is the most annoying character in this show. I just wanted her to stop talking already!

Qudsiya finally shared her feelings with her family and said everything that was stored inside her. Her father was the only person who truly understood what she was going through, but even he gave her the ‘naseeb’ lecture like everyone else. The preview of the next episode also showed that she might go back to Aaliyan’s house for her father.

I am really looking forward to the next installment now. It will be interesting to see how Qudsiya will go back to Aaliyan’s house now.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 23 – The Unexpected Romance!

0

This week’s episode had me hooked throughout. The episode was a mixture of romance, drama and suspense. It did not drag for a change, and we FINALLY got to see some quality scenes between Aaliyan and Qudsiya. I must say that their chemistry is way better than I could have ever imagined. In the past episodes, we had gotten a glimpse of it but the full dose of romance took my breath away.

The episode started off with Qudsiya’s humiliation which seriously made me cringe. The poor girl got insulted and slapped in front of so many people; I seriously felt bad for her. First Sultan insulted her as he thought that she had come with a new agenda on her mind, and then Natasha crossed her limits and slapped her in front of everybody. Unfortunately, Shahnawaz also witnessed Natasha abusing Qudsiya which was even more humiliating for Qudsiya.

apl 23 2

But on the bright side, we got to see Aaliyan accepting Qudsiya as his wife for the first time in front of his family. He stood up to his father when he insulted Qudsiya, and openly declared that she is his wife and his responsibility. He did not care about anyone’s reaction and did not stop when Natasha tried to stop him from going after her. He immediately went to Shahnawaz’s house to convince Qudsiya to come back to him. He admitted his mistake and declared that he considers Qudsiya as his wife now. Qudsiya was truly surprised and a tad bit shocked after seeing the sudden change in Aaliyan.

apl 23

After being through so much, it was natural for Qudsiya to be upset with him. Her self respect had been bruised beyond repair as she had suffered enough humiliation to last a lifetime. She was not ready to go back with him and demanded a divorce at first, but Aaliyan refused to back off at any cost. He was determined to have her back in his life and gave her the assurance that she will get all the respect that she deserves in his house. I am glad that they had this conversation because Qudsiya had to get all the hurt out of her system by showing anger towards Aaliyan. She could truly forgive him only if she does not hold any grudges against him.

apl 23 6

The best part of the episode was the unexpected romance between the two. For the first time both were vocal about their feelings for each other. A bold Aaliyan and a blushing Qudsiya looked adorable together. I loved how they cutely fought and then said some really cheesy dialogues. Aaliyan, for the first time, told Qudsiya that he loved her. I must admit that the confession was quite unexpected! The scene was so perfect that I barely blinked while watching this scene. I am sure all of you must have a huge grin on your faces while watching this scene (I did!).

Although Aaliyan and Qudsiya had patched up, and Aaliyan had promised her that he would come to pick her up the next day, Qudsiya still did not keep her hopes high. She was scared to get hurt all over again and decided to go back to her mother’s house instead.

apl 23 3

Another shocking revelation was that Shahnawaz had fallen for Qudsiya. He got the shock of his life when she revealed that Aaliyan was her husband; the poor guy did not know how to react to this news. I always thought that Shahnawaz wanted to marry Qudsiya because of Aaina, but it was revealed that he had feelings for her and he even told her indirectly about his feelings. He gave her an option that if things did not work out between her and Aaliyan, then he would always be there to support her. It was obvious that Qudsiya was not comfortable about this topic and she would not ever consider this option.

I have high expectations from the last episode. Judging from the recent promo, it seems like we will get a fair dose of Aaliyan and Qudsiya. I have also heard that the last episode would be of two hours (not confirmed though).

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 21 – Review

0

After a few disappointing weeks, we finally got to see an episode with some substance. I am sure most of you were in tears while watching the episode (I definitely was!). Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui acted brilliantly in this episode; his expressions, the way he cried, and even his dialogue delivery was spot on. All the scenes between mother and son were emotionally charged. Saba Hameed was also brilliant in all her scenes!

Aaliyan might be upset with his mother but he still went to the hospital to visit her. Years of anger and resentment were buried inside him and he just could not forgive her for leaving him even though she tried to explain him the reason. Their last meeting was disastrous as Aaliyan again lashed out on her, and simply refused to let her love him or even come close to him. He regretted his decision later on when he got to know that his mother had passed away the next morning. Shamsa had desperately wanted to meet her son in the last few minutes of her life, but he did not feel important to pick up Qudsiya’s call who was trying to reach him to tell him about Shamsa’s condition.

Qudsiya was highly disappointed with Aaliyan’s behavior; she was shocked at the indifference he showed towards his own mother. She did not like the way he had behaved with Shamsa when he knew that she was unwell. She had avoided speaking to Aaliyan since they met again but this time she could not help but lash out at him for being so insensitive.

The scene where Aaliyan goes near Shamsa’s body and cries his heart out was a heart wrenching scene. He showed how much he loved her in that scene though he was not able to express it when she was alive. I really wish they had shown a happy reunion between Aaliyan and Shamsa before she died. At least Aaliyan would not have to live with the guilt that he never showed any affection or love towards her.

Dado had always remained tight lipped about his mother, but now the guilt was eating her up inside and she finally revealed that Shamsa was never at fault and he had been told lies all along. Aaliyan was devastated to hear the truth and hurt by the betrayal from his own family. If only Dado had revealed the truth about his mother when she was alive, then at least he would have spent her last few days without being upset with her.

Dado was surprised when Qudsiya called her to ask about Aaliyan and then gave the news of Shamsa’s death. Aaliyan had not told her that Qudsiya knew Shamsa and she was curious to know how they knew each other. Aaliyan himself did not know her relation with his mother and Shahnawaz. Technically, he should have known by now that Qudsiya worked there. But then Qudsiya was treated more like family than an employee and all he could tell Dado was that she was close to Aaina. It seems that he still has doubts about Shahnawaz and Qudsiya’s relationship.

Qudsiya’s mother is an extremely annoying character. She came to Shahnawaz’s house to give condolence, but then could not help but state her opinion about Qudsiya living alone with Shahnawaz in his house. It was just not the time or place to say this because Shahnawaz needs Qudsiya’s support for a while to help him deal with Aaina after Shamsa’s death.

Natasha has left the house once again and this time no one bothered to stop her except Rana. Aaliyan has had enough of her now and I doubt he will make any attempt this time to bring her back.

The preview for the next episode really seems promising. I hope we finally get to see Qudsiya and Aaliyan together!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 20 – The Emotional Outburst!

0

This show has turned out to be a huge disappointment, and has simply failed to reach our expectations. Once again, we got to see more of Natasha’s scenes and less of Qudsiya and Aaliyan. Natasha was happy and relieved after the abortion, and she simply did not care about Aaliyan’s feelings in this matter. The only one supporting her decision was Rana; Dado was against this decision and tried to talk some sense into Rano but to no avail. For Natasha, her career is more important than anything else. Sultan simply refrained from getting involved in this matter altogether.

Shamsa and Aaliyan’s confrontation was pretty emotional as Aaliyan finally let out his frustration and anger that had been building inside him for years. Shamsa could not believe her ears when Aaliyan accused her of leaving him for another man. She had no clue that Sultan had brainwashed him in this way. The emotional outburst left her shaken and it seriously affected her health. Ohkay, so another surprise for me was the news that Shamsa has cancer. I knew that she was extremely sick, but did they ever mention that she had cancer before this episode? Maybe I missed this piece of information if it had been mentioned in the previous episodes.

Another major disappointment in this episode was the lack of Aaliyan’s reaction when he saw Qudsiya with Shahnawaz. At least he should have looked a bit surprised or shocked to see her living under the same roof as his mother and Shahnawaz. I had expected him to be surprised and curious about her presence in the house, but he seemed least bothered. The only time he showed any reaction was when he saw her at the hospital and taunted her about Shahnawaz. Aaliyan is under the misconception that something is going on between Shahnawaz and Qudsiya.

Shahnawaz had been thinking about Shamsa’s advice to marry Qudsiya and he finally came to the conclusion that he needed someone like Qudsiya in his life who is able to understand Aaina and knows how to deal with her. This idea did not go well with Qudsiya when Shamsa mentioned it to her, and she became extremely uncomfortable around Shahnawaz.

After his emotional outburst, it took some time for Aaliyan to get back to his senses. Natasha’s one sided decision and then the confrontation had left him extremely upset, but once he started thinking rationally it became obvious that Shamsa cannot be the only one to be blamed. His father also had a huge hand in his separation from his mother as Aaliyan knew that Sultan does not make any decision which does not benefit him in return. He still does not know the entire truth, but he is pretty close to it now. I hope he realizes his mistake and apologizes to Shamsa before it is too late.

After so many disappointing episodes, I have no idea what is in store for us next in this show. According to the preview, Shamsa’s chapter might close soon. I have simply no idea how Qudsiya and Aaliyan would end up together. We might as well just forget about the promo scenes now. I do not see them happening anytime soon!

After experiencing firsthand how selfish Natasha can be, I fail to understand why Aaliyan is still living with her. It is obvious that he does not feel any attachment towards her. It is about time he leaves her and moves on with his life.

I hope we get to see something interesting in the next episode!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 2 – The Wedding!

0

I was pretty excited about this week’s episode as I knew that Aaliyan and Qudsiya will get married. I also had an idea what the circumstances would be that would lead to their marriage. But I did expect a bigger drama than what I saw in this episode. The scene was quite filmy and Aaliyan agreeing to get married to Qudsiya so easily was kind of shocking; I had a feeling he would be extremely pressurized but that did not happen.

photo(56)Haleema making demands for the car and then creating a huge drama afterwards was nicely executed. Sheheryar was good in the scene where he casually walks in the wedding hall, and then gets shocked at the scene before him. What I have gathered about Aaliyan’s character so far is that he is pretty business minded and a tad bit immature too, and of course kind-hearted. He did not even realize the seriousness of the situation when he said ‘Main Tayyar Hoon Yeh Contract Kerne Ke Liyeah, Matlab Nikah Kerne Ke Liye’ I had my eye brows raised when he casually said this dialogue. He literally read the Nikah Nama like a business contract, and this seriously made me laugh out loud!

photo(59)He wanted to compensate them because indirectly he was the reason for the broken marriage. First, he did not grant the loan to Zaheer for the car, and then his name was linked with Qudsiya’s when he gave his car keys to Haleema. Aaliyan gave a nod for the nikkah pretty quickly much to our surprise, and the person who was pressurized was Qudsiya.

photo(57)‘Khuda Ke Liyeah Mera Tamasha Mat Banaye’

Qudsiya pleaded to Aaliyan not to make a mess out of the situation, but finally gave in when she was emotionally blackmailed to agree because of her father’s condition.

One scene I found really adorable was when Aaliyan took her to his house and their first conversation after that. She refused to enter the house and Aaliyan had to convince her for a good two to three minutes to come inside with him.

photo(60)Aaliyan’s family member’s reaction to the news of his Nikah was expected of course. He took his time to explain ‘the chota sa issue’ to his Dudi (Aaliyan’s dadi) which he had encountered at the wedding. I could not believe my ears when he casually dismissed the issue by saying ‘kiya hum kisi aur topic per baat kersakhte hai’

photo(61)After a good lecture from his Dudi, it was his father’s turn to lash out at him for his immature behavior. Aaliyan spoke about the marriage contract and then divorce like it was not a big deal at all. It was clear that Aaliyan does not have any intention to stay married to Qudsiya for long. Also, his involvement with Natasha was also mentioned in this episode. She is his love interest and the girl he intends to get married too in the future.

photo(62)I also liked the scene where Qudsiya gets angry at Aaliyan and he listens to her patiently. ‘Kia Zarurat Thi Meri Madad Karne Ki, Yaha Bezati Waha Bezati’ Sheheryar Munawar and Sajjal Ali have excellent chemistry, and their chemistry was evident from the promos too which attracted me to the show in the first place. I am looking forward to more of their scenes in the future.

Now the question is that what will prevent him from divorcing Qudsiya? He has made it clear that as soon as her father’s condition gets better, he would immediately leave her back at her house and divorce her.

The preview of the next episode shows that Qudsiya is in for a rough time ahead. Aaliyan’s family members are going to give her a hard time, and she would not be accepted in the house anytime soon.

I personally do not care how they got married; what I am looking forward too is how their relationship will develop in the future.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 19 – The Re-union!

0

Finally, there was some progress in the story. The story took a small step forward, but at least it moved on! It was completely stagnant from the past three weeks, and left all of us more and more disappointed as each week passed. As usual we got our fair dose of Natasha and her screeching, but there were some more interesting developments in the show this week.

apl 1

Dado understood how desperate Shamsa is to meet her son, and finally took some pity on her. She finally convinced Aaliyan to go and meet his mother. Dado is the only one who could have convinced him. Aaliyan has a huge grudge against her mother, and wanted answers from her and this is only reason why he went to meet her. Shamsa and Aaliyan’s emotional reunion was simply heart touching! Saba Hameed was brilliant in the scene where she did not know whether to laugh or cry when she saw Aaliyan for the first time. Aaliyan was there to get some answers, but he got tongue tied after seeing his mother’s state. Sheheryar Munawar was absolutely superb in this scene; he had no dialogues in this scene, but his eyes were enough to express his feelings. Shamsa knew very well how upset he was with her, but she was just glad that she finally got to meet him. I was waiting for them to meet since such a long time, and the wait was definitely worth it.

apl2

I was expecting Aaliyan to bump into Qudsiya, but again I was left disappointed. But at least Qudsiya got to know who Shamsa’s son was and it shocked her to the core. I had a feeling when I saw the promo last week that Aaliyan would ask his father that question after he sees Qudsiya in Shahnawaz’s house, but here the case was different. Aaliyan is no longer a child, and it not possible to lie to him anymore. Sultan and Dado both know this, and have been trying to avoid his questions after his visit to Shamsa’s house. But Aaliyan knows that something is definitely wrong with the version he had been told about his mother. I still do not understand why Dado is not revealing the truth about his mother. Maybe because she herself is guilty? Or maybe she is trying to save her son from Aaliyan’s hatred? Even if she does not tell Aaliyan the truth, I do not think it will take much longer for him to put the two and two together.

apl3

I was not expecting Natasha to be pregnant in real; that was pretty shocking. I thought they were trying to confuse us with the promo. Aaliyan was so happy to hear this news, and he was ready to forgive her for everything till she announced her decision to choose her career over her child. I guess Natasha’s decision to abort will be reason for Aaliyan and Natasha’s separation. That is the only conclusion I have come to so far.

apl4

The preview for this week seems pretty interesting and this week’s episode will definitely be worth looking forward to. Aaliyan will release all the pent up frustration and hurt when he goes to meet Shamsa next time. He will also come across Qudsiya finally!

There are not many episodes left now. I hope we get to see Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s reunion soon!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 18 – The Dragging Continues…

0

Again, there was not much development in the show this week. The dragging is seriously getting very annoying now. The main focus of the show is on Natasha’s screeching and the little girl Aaina. On one hand, Aaliyan is busy dealing with Natasha’s accusations and on the other hand, Qudsiya is busy with Aaina and her problems.

The show was supposed to focus on Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s track, but so far it has dealt with every other track except theirs. I have no idea why they have emphasized on Aaina so much, there was simply no need. Instead they should focus on Shamsa and Aaliyan’s track. He really needs to know the truth about his mother and finally meet her. This way at least he will end up bumping into Qudsiya too.

aa 4

It is obvious that he cares about Qudsiya otherwise he would not be so worried about her whereabouts, and also would not be so desperate to call her. And most importantly, he would not have kept her earrings if she was not an important person in his life. By the way, I have simply no clue from where he got the earrings in the first place. Isn’t that a bit too filmy?

‘Ager Dado Chahti To Mein Tum Se Kabhi Shaadi Na Karta, Aur Tumhari Jagah Yaha Qudsiya Hoti’.

aa 1

This was one scene I was really looking forward to when I saw it in the promo and it did not disappoint me. Aaliyan meant each word that he said and they came directly from his heart. Oh I wish, Dado had said something to him; she knew all along what kind of a girl Natasha is and that Aaliyan would never be able to adjust with her. She has this habit of not interfering in anyone’s life which is good, but at times she just needs to speak up. She knows very well that Aaliyan feels strongly for Qudsiya and she can make him realize that, but she always choses to remain silent about this matter, and advices him to concentrate on keeping his marriage together. Same goes for Sultan and Shamsa’s case, Dado chooses to remain silent about Shamsa’s innocence when she can easily tell Aaliyan about her.

Aaliyan cares for Qudsiya but he also does not want Natasha to go away from his life. He really needs to decide what he wants already! I was really happy to see Natasha leaving the house. I thought that she was finally leaving for good and we would see some progress in the story now. But then I saw the preview for the next episode and unfortunately, she is not planning to go away from Aaliyaan’s life anytime soon.

aa3

I am glad Shahnawaz did not agree with Shamsa’s idea of getting married to Qudsiya. But I have a feeling he will agree in the coming episodes because of Aaina. Aaina has developed a strong bond with Qudsiya and Shahnawaz needs someone like Qudsiya in her life who can control and mold her easily. The scenes between Shahnawaz and Qudsiya were better in this episode mainly because Emad’s weak dialogue delivery has improved a bit.

The preview for the next episode seems scary to me, I hope Natasha goes out of Aaliyan’s life soon. I simply cannot tolerate her anymore. On the bright side, it seems like Aaliyan will see Qudsiya and Shahnawaz together, and he would be curious to know their relation.

The story really needs to move on now! The viewers will simply lose interest if the story keeps on dragging like this.

So what do you guys think about the latest episode?

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 17 – ‘I have married a crazy woman!’

0

There were a lot of surprising revelations in the episode this week which gave us more insight into what is going on in Aaliyan’s mind. Most of us had thought that Aaliyan had moved forward in life and Qudsiya holds no importance in his life anymore, but it was revealed in this episode that she had always stayed somewhere in the corner of his mind.

He still thinks that looking after Qudsiya and her family is his responsibility, and that is why he sent his man to check up on them only to find that they have shifted to some other place. He also admitted that he had stayed back at Qudsiya’s house not because his car broke down, but because he wanted to stay there, and he had also offered Qudsiya to stay back but she herself refused. He admitted this to Dudi who couldn’t help but raise her eyebrows after hearing this. I sometimes feel that Dudi knows that he feels strongly for Qudsiya, but she also knows that there is no point of telling him this. He needs to realize his feelings himself; he needs to sort out his feelings for both Natasha and Qudsiya and she cannot help him in this.

apl 3

The irony of the situation was that he was not upset about the fact that he and Natasha had such a huge fight, but he was worried for Qudsiya and her family because he did not know about their whereabouts. A part of Aaliyan wanted Qudsiya to stay back with him when he gave her the choice.

‘Qudsiya Bohat Ajeeb Larki Hai, Itna Bhi Ego Acha Nahi Hota’

His dialogues clearly showed that he was disappointed when she refused his offer. But then she was also right in her place. Why would she want to stay with someone who will eventually marry someone else? She also knew very well that she will never get her true status in Aaliyan’s house.

apl 1

Natasha’s screeching continued in this episode too, and this time she went to Qudsiya’s house to give her a piece of her mind, only to find that she had shifted. Then started the huge fight, and as usual all blame went on Aaliyan. He was accused this time of shifting Qudsiya into a new apartment. ‘I have married a crazy woman’ dialogue was one of the best one in the episode! Aaliyan is seriously getting more and more irritated by her each passing day, and it wouldn’t take long for him now to distance himself from her.

apl 2

I had predicted that Shahnawaz and Qudsiya will bond and that is exactly what happened. Shahnawaz opened up to her and they both found comfort level with each other. Qudsiya, however, chose to remain tight lipped about her past. I was expecting some chemistry between Shahnawaz and Qudsiya but there was none. Emad Irfani’s weak dialogue delivery just killed the whole scene for me! He really needs to work on his monotonous dialogue delivery; it lacks emotions and his face lacks expressions.

apl 4

Shamsa is getting more and more impatient to meet her son, and she reached Sultan’s doorstep once again only to get turned away. I really wish that Dudi would tell Aaliyan the truth about his mother. It is obvious that she wants to but something is stopping her from revealing the truth. Aaliyan really needs to know the truth about her mother! Maybe this is how he will end up meeting Qudsiya once again?

I hope the story moves forward quickly and we get to see Aaliyan and Qudsiya together! Shamsa is planning to get Shahnawaz and Qudsiya married but it is obvious that this is not going to happen.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 16 – Review

0

I know most of us were thinking or to be more precise ‘wishing’ that Aaliyan would not marry Natasha. But well, he did and I was pretty disappointed (I am sure I am not the only one). Qudsiya was a bit upset after reading the news in the magazine, but I am really glad that she is trying to get over Aaliyan and moving on in her life. I know most of us want Aaliyan and Qudsiya together, but Aaliyan just does not deserve someone like Qudsiya. I am glad that Natasha is giving her a hard time; at least he will come to his senses and realize Qudsiya’s importance.

Qudsiya’s chachi is the most intolerable and annoying character in the show, but for the first time, she did something good. Aaliyan and Chachi’s airport encounter was hilarious! The ‘khushkharbri’ and ‘chand sa beta’ dialogues cracked me up big time. She did it purposely in front of Natasha to teach Aaliyan a lesson for leaving Qudsiya. I guess most people hated this scene, but I was really happy.

Natasha created the biggest fuss over the ‘chand sa beta’ and well, she just makes me laugh now. Usually I just mute her scenes (her screeching can make anyone deaf), but this time I loved the fact that she was making Aaliyan’s life miserable. I loved his clueless expressions when he said ‘kis ka beta kaha ka beta’.

On one hand, Natasha cannot bear to see Aaliyan’s face and on the other hand, she just does not want to let go of him. She really needs to decide already! Aaliyan is slowly realizing what a huge mistake he made by marrying her. Aaliyan was expecting a Qudsiya in the form of Natasha; an obedient, loving and caring wife who waits up for him at dinner! Sorry to disappoint you Aaliyan, but that is not going to happen EVER! The next big bomb Natasha threw on Aaliyan was her decision to do modelling without his consent. Aaliyan should have been prepared for this, he knows Natasha from such a long time!

Emad Irfani’s acting improved somewhat in this episode. I loved the scene where Aaliyan and Shahnawaz met and they sort of bonded. I am still really confused about Shahnawaz and Shamsa’s relationship though. As far as I know Shamsa seems like his elder sister which makes him Aaliyan’s maamu. Correct me if I am wrong!

A little more was revealed about Shahnawaz’s past, he had loved his wife Sara who died at childbirth. A sad story indeed! I have this feeling that Qudsiya and Shahnawaz will become good friends (or maybe he will fall for her); he had already revealed how caring he is in this episode. He knew just by looking at Qudsiya that something was wrong with her.

Shamsa wants desperately to meet Aaliyan, but I do not understand one thing, why now? After so many years, she realized that her life is incomplete without her son. She should have taken a step a long time back. Aaliyan is under the perception that his mother left him for some other man, and he simply hates her. Dudi knows the truth, and she tried her best to convince Sultan to let Shamsa meet Aaliyan, but to no avail. Now the question is, will she help Shamsa and tell Aaliyan about her? Or will Aaliyan meet her through Qudsiya?

Natasha’s doubts on Aaliyan will keep on getting stronger and she will make Aaliyan’s life even more miserable in the upcoming episodes. Aaliyan will try to reach Qudsiya to help her and her family, and unfortunately Natasha will get to know about this. Then of course, we will once again see a huge scene created by her and not to forget her screeching voice!

I just hope the story moves forward already, and we get to see less of Natasha and more of Aaliyan and Qudsiya!

A sincere apology to all readers, I have been inactive for the past few weeks which explain my late reviews, but from this week onwards I will post the reviews earlier!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 15 – Revelations from the past!

0

The show has now taken quite a big turn and we saw some shocking developments and revelations in this episode. It is now clear to all of us why Dudi always compares Aaliyan with his mother because he has inherited all her traits. The kind-heartness and the willingness to help people are the traits he had adopted from his mother’s side (Sultan does not have an ounce of humanity anyways). She was so kind to Qudsiya when she came for to apply for the job and quickly appointed her when she realized that she needs the job badly. Now a new chapter has opened for Qudsiya and we well get to see her working for Shamsa. Both are actually related to each other through Aaliyan, but it is so ironic that they would not get to know about their relation anytime soon.

We know now that history is repeating itself. Previously it was Shamsa in place of Qudsiya and Rana in place of Natasha. Sultan had chosen Rana over Shamsa and left her, he had even lied to Aaliyan about her mother running away with someone else. This is the reason why Aaliyan gets so upset at the mention of his mother. Sultan had clearly refused to let Shamsa meet Aaliyan even when she begged him to let her, now what I want to see is whether Qudsiya will be the link to their reunion!

Aaliyan has been trying desperately to move on and look forward to his life with Natasha, but Qudsiya is still stuck somewhere at the back of his mind. He showed how possessive he was about her when she informed him about the offers she had been getting lately because of her temporary marital status. Another revelation for all of us in this episode was that Qudsiya is clearly in love with Aaliyan, and she herself is in denial. She would have not been so upset with her mother for going to Aaliyan’s and fighting for her rights if she was not in love with Aaliyan. She wants Aaliyan to recognize her as his wife otherwise she would not go back at any cost, but even she knows this would not happen. Aaliyan has decided to marry Natasha and whether he will really marry her or not is a twist that we all are waiting for!

Dudi was able to guess correctly about Qudsiya falling in love with Aaliyan which is the main reason why she does not want him to give her a divorce, but what surprised me the most was Aaliyan’s assumption that Qudsiya wanted to remain married to him for his name. That was a low blow! He should have at least recognized by now that Qudsiya is no gold digger. Her mother did not want Qudsiya’s marriage to end because of her own twisted views of what would happen later on. Qudsiya was right in being upset with her, she cares too much about what people will say when she should care about how Qudsiya will live in that big house which has no place for her.

A bit more was shown of Emad Irfani’s character in this episode. I was still, however, unable to understand his relationship with Shamsa. Hopefully in the coming episodes, their relation would be described more clearly. I was looking forward to Emad Irfani’s entry but I was a bit disappointed by his robotic dialogue delivery. And here we used to criticize Sheheryar for his weak dialogue delivery! Well, Sheheryar is way better than Emad in terms of dialogue delivery. It will now be interesting to see the track between Qudsiya and Shahnawaz now!

It will be interesting to see what happens in tonight’s episode. Will Natasha marry Aaliyan or will she leave him when she gets to know that he had not divorced Qudsiya yet? Tune in to tonight’s episode to find out!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 13 & 14 – The starting of a new phase!

0

The story is finally progressing and we got to see a lot of developments in the past two episodes. I simply loved the way they ended one chapter of Qudsiya and Aaliyan’s life and started the other. Last week’s episode brought them closer and there was a unique development in their relationship. As it is said that ‘bad times brings people together’ and this is exactly what happened here.

Aaliyan was there for Qudsiya as he just could not leave Qudsiya and her family alone in these circumstances. And of course, we all know how ‘soft-hearted’ Aaliyan is, and this usually lands him into trouble (we are way too familiar with this, aren’t we?). He went to Qudsiya’s house to show support and ended up getting sick, and then we saw Qudsiya taking care of Aaliyan just like he had taken care of her when she was sick. Qudsiya was not too happy about Aaliyan coming to her house because she has had enough of his kindness to last a life time. But then she was also touched by his words when he told her ‘Mein yaha apke liyeah aya tha’

a 7

Ohkay, so the best part was of last week’s episode was their heart to heart conversation. They finally got time to understand each other. Aaliyan had finally found someone who can understand him and the way he also wanted Qudsiya to open up to him was adorable.

“Ap chahe to mujhse apni dil ki baatein share ker sakhti hai”

a 6a7

She was a bit reluctant to talk to him at first but then once she started talking, their conversation lasted the whole night and none of them realized this. The contrast shown in their lifestyle and how they were raised was pretty huge. But sometimes we connect with people who are the polar opposite of our personality. Here this is exactly the case; they both harbor feelings for each other now, especially after they got to know a bit more about each other. It is pretty obvious that Aaliyan is attracted to Qudsiya to some extent. There was this sparkle in his eyes when he was watching her and this made Qudsiya a bit shy and conscious around him. But then she is too realistic to get her hopes high!

a4

The next morning they both were a bit awkward around each other, and they actually looked like proper husband and wife when they were having breakfast. They both were living in a small world of their own till Natasha came and brought them back to reality. I was extremely happy to see Qudsiya standing up for herself and not acting like the ‘mazloom-bechari’ types. Aaliyan and Qudsiya both realized the bitter reality of their lives and parted ways after their encounter with Natasha.

a8

From here starts the new phase of the story. I loved the transition they showed from one phase to another. It was necessary to show the development in Aaliyan and Qudsiya’s relationship to pave way for the future of their story. Now Aaliyan and Natasha are planning to get married while Qudsiya is trying to start her life afresh too. Qudsiya wants Aaliyan’s chapter in her life to end, but the people around her never let her forget anything. She now has the responsibility to take care of her whole family and she was highly frustrated when she could not find a job because the news of her unique marriage had spread everywhere.

a10

Aaliyan, our very own knight in shining armour wanted to help Qudsiya once again, but she clearly refused to take any help from him. He barely shows any interest in Natasha anymore, it just took one glimpse of Qudsiya to distract him from Natasha (I am not complaining at all!). Even Natasha noticed this and they ended up having an argument. Natasha also got herself into an accident which means the wedding will be delayed now! I couldn’t be happier! Aaliyan also did not sign the papers and he is too dumb to realize what is stopping him. He had found his soul mate already and a part of him does not want to let go of her. I hope he realizes soon that he feels strongly for Qudsiya!

Finally, we saw the entry of Emad Irfani and Saba Hameed. Saba Hameed is playing the role of Aaliyan’s real mother and Emad’s character is related to her. We just got a brief glimpse of both of them in this episode, but we will get to see more of them in the upcoming episodes.

As far as I can guess, Qudsiya will work for Emad and this is how they will get to know each other. I am eagerly looking forward to this new phase in Qudsiya’s life. Qudsiya’s mother had witnessed the huge scene that Natasha had created and now she has accepted the reality too that there is no space for Qudsiya in Aaliyan’s life. I hope she stands by Qudsiya in these hard times!

I would love to hear your opinion about the episode, so do comment!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 12 – A Heart Wrenching Episode!

Like most of us predicted, Zaheer-ud-deen passed away and his death left an impact on everybody’s life. The story has reached a turning point with Zaheer-ud-deen’s death, and I am glad the story is finally going to move forward from next episode.

Aaliyan needed this wake up call to realize the gravity of the situation. Aaliyan might be care-free/careless, but he is definitely not heartless. He completely supported Qudsiya during this testing time when the whole world has collapsed on her. She had put a brave face for her father, and now that her father is gone so has her strength. She needed someone’s support at this point, and Aaliyan was there for her throughout.

In the past two or three episodes, we have seen that Aaliyan had been completely fed up of the upheaval Qudsiya had created in his life and was pretty irritated by Qudsiya’s presence in his house. He took her to the hospital and took care of her for only Dudi’s sake, but this time Dudi did not ask him for anything. He stood by Qudsiya by his own free will, and in the process recognized the true faces of many people in his life.

apl new 4

He is finally realizing that he is surrounded by selfish people. It was the cruel words spoken by his father that ended Zaheer-ud-deen’s life, and he had absolutely no guilt. He was ashamed of his father, and he was pretty vocal about it. He did get a slap as an answer for his misbehavior, but he really did not care about it at the moment. He had not expected his father to stoop so low and had no regrets of standing up to him.

apl new 2

Another development (which made me really happy) was that Aaliyan is finally realizing that his feelings for Natasha are more out of necessity than love. He had been craving for love throughout his life, and when he got a drop of it from Natasha, he quickly grabbed it with both hands. His desperation for love made him blind to Natasha’s faults and how selfish she really is. But now slowly, the blinds are removing and he can finally see the stark truth about Natasha. He has started to question his feelings for her, and he would be more open about it to Dudi in the next episode.

Sajjal Ali completely stole the show this week. The way she broke down after her father’s death was truly heart wrenching to watch. All of Zaheer-ud-deen’s daughters were really attached to him, especially Qudsiya. She had not only lost her father but her support system, a friend and I simply loved the way Aaliyan offered her to share her troubles with him now. I simply loved the way he was genuinely worried about her health. But the main question is; will he stand by her now when she has no reason to be his wife anymore? Her father’s health was the main reason she had been staying in his house in the first place. Will Aaliyan be Qudsiya and her family’s support system or will he take a step back? These are some questions that have popped in my head and I hope we get the answer soon.

apl

He had offered to be her friend but she had declined. The shocking part came after that when he told her ‘Ek Kaam Karte Hai, Mein Apko Divorce Nahi Deta’. I do not know if he was joking or if he was serious, but I was really taken aback when he told her this.

apl new 3

I am sure about one thing though; Dudi will help Qudsiya in this situation and will not leave her alone in such hard times. She truly cares about the girl who is badly stuck in a serious situation that could impact her whole life.

One phase of this story has ended and I am eagerly looking forward to its next phase. It will be interesting to watch how the story will shape now.

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 10 & 11 – Pretty Much Stagnant!

0

In these two episode, the story moved forward at a snail’s pace. The only part worth looking forward to was the interaction between Aaliyan and Qudsiya. Dudi completely sympathizes with Qudsiya and she has turned out to be her ‘fairy-godmother’ in this situation.

Dudi was upset and burdened by her conscience to see Qudsiya at the verge of a nervous breakdown. ‘Tum Logon mein insaniyat jaisi cheez hee nahi hai’, she gave a piece of her mind to each member of the family for not showing an ounce of sympathy to the innocent girl. She even tried to make Aaliyan realize what will happen to Qudisya once he gives her a divorce and it is not as easy as he thinks.

‘Talaq Mard Deta Hai, Aur Uska Daag Aurat Per Laghta Hai, Uska Kasur Ho Ya Na Ho’

apl 7

Divorce is not a ‘big deal’ for Aaliyan but he does not realize what affect it will have on Qudsiya’s future and Dudi is trying her best to safeguard her future. I loved the way she made it clear to Sultan and Rano that Qudsiya will stay in the house as long as she wants, and nobody had the guts to question her authority. I seriously felt like clapping in this scene!

Aaliyan’s care-less behavior gets on my nerves at times. He was least bother to hear that Qudsiya had fallen sick and it was apparently ‘not his problem’. He also made a fuss about taking her to the hospital. I have no idea what happens to him at times! Sometimes he acts way too caring and at other times, he is least bothered. He took Qudsiya to the hospital because it was Dudi’s order, but this did not stop him from complaining about it and his constant irritation made it obvious to Qudsiya that he was forced to come with her to the hospital. It was so shocking to see Dudi not trusting Aaliyan, the way she questioned him on the phone, and the way Aaliyan reacted to them was extremely hilarious!

My favorite scene in these two episodes was when Aaliyan comes to Qudsiya’s room to acquire about her health. It was an extremely cute scene in my opinion! Qudsiya’s behavior was hilarious and Aaliyan was highly amused to see this new side of her.

‘Sorry Mujhe Bukhaar Hogaya. Ab Mein Ghar Kaise Jaongi, Ap Mujhe Chordenge?’

apl 6

This dialogue brought a huge smile to my face because it was spoken so innocently. And then the best part came when shoved her hand forward and enthusiastically said ‘Mujhe bilkul bukhaar nahi hai, ap check karsakhte hai?’ The way she immediately realized what she had said and started to feel shy (she actually covered her face with the blanket) was adorable.

apl 2

I also liked all the interaction between Aaliyan and Qudsiya in the hospital. Qudsiya felt so comfortable with him around and they finally conversed like two normal people for the first time. I have only seen them fighting or arguing till now, but now we got to see both of them trying to get to know each other. Aaliyan was keen to know about her life before their marriage and Qudsiya easily opened up to him. I loved the way he comforted her when she had a bad dream, and I was a bit taken aback when she asked him to stay with her.

apl 5

Natasha seriously needs to consult a psychiatrist as soon as possible. When Aaliyan was least bothered about Qudsiya being sick, she called him cold hearted like his father. But when he took her to the hospital and took care of her, she came to the conclusion that since he is caring so much about her, he is in love with her. Seriously? She drives Aaliyan nuts and Aaliyan was left speechless when she came to her ultimate conclusion. Aaliyan is absolutely right that the foundation of any relationship is trust and Natasha just does not trust him.

apl 8

We know that Rana is a gold digger and now she is teaching her niece to follow her footsteps. She brainwashed Natasha with dialogues like ‘Money is more important than love’ and ‘Aaliyan can give you the best future’ which shows her cheap mentality. There is also some big secret about Aaliyan’s mother and why she left the house. I have a strong feeling that Rana has a big hand in it.

apl 4

Mehmood is considering Aaliyan again for Natasha’s sake and for the first time, they had a normal conversation. Aaliyan tried to convince him that Qudsiya will be out of his life very soon, and he still loves Natasha a lot. Mehmood simply told him to end Qudsiya’s chapter and then they will talk about Natasha and his relationship.

apl 3

I liked the way they showed the connection between Zaheer-ud-deen and her daughters. They could easily sense when their father was worried. Qudsiya was restless because she could feel that some big tragedy is about to strike. She was impatient to meet her father as she could sense that something was wrong.

apl 9

Zaheer-ud-deen was bound to know the truth one day, if not from Sultan then from anybody else and this is one thing he could not stand to listen. Now let’s see how the events take a turn after his death! From the looks of the preview, we are going to have a very interesting episode next week!

This show is going to pick up pace from the next episode, so stay tuned!

I would love to hear your opinion about the episodes, so do leave a comment!

Aasmanon Pay Likha Episode 1 – A Good Start!

0

This show captured my interest when I was once flipping through the channels and I saw its promo with the beautiful OST in the background. The show attracted me enough to watch it and review it too. And after watching the first show, I am glad that I gave this show a try because the story looks amazing so far!

photo(33)The first episode revolved around the wedding celebrations of Qudsiya (Sajal Ali), the female protagonist of the show. She is an average middle class girl with no big dreams and a practical approach towards life; she just wants to lead a happy married life like any other girl. But unfortunately, her to be in-laws are one of those people who put pressure on the girl’s family to give huge dowry which they simply cannot afford.

photo(34)I never understand why the girl’s parents think that if they fulfill the demands of her to be-in laws then she would stay happy there. Qudsiya could have gotten better proposals than Shehzads’ and I failed to understand why her parents kept on fulfilling their demands one after the other when they should have broken the rishta a long time ago. Qudsiya was upset to see the way her parents were worried all the time because of her dowry, and she even made the decision to break the marriage. But thanks to the emotional blackmail done by her father, she had to give in and change her decision.

aasmanon pe likhaWe saw Aaliyan (Shehryar Munawar) in only one scene, but that scene was enough to make me fall in love with his character. He is the son of an established business man, and he may seem like a stern and practical business man, but there is softness in him that shows that he might be rich, but he is not arrogant or spoilt in any way. He treated Zaheer (Qudsiya’s father) with respect when he came to his office and although he refused him to give him the loan he wanted; he did not insult him in anyway but just straight forwardly told him the reason why he could not give him the loan, and I found his reason somewhat reasonable too. No firm would loan their employee an amount as big as 10 lakhs after it had already provided him with financial aid.

photo(36)The rest of the episode mainly revolved around the taunts and humiliation that Qudsiya’s family had to suffer because they could not live up to the expectations of her to be mother-in-law. Now Qudsiya’s marriage depends on the car that her in-laws had demanded, and this will most probably be the reason why her marriage would break. Cliched, right? Dowry is a social evil and the sad fact is that it still highly influences our society, and there are many people like Qudsiya’s in-laws that still exist in our society.

Sajjal Ali was truly brilliant in all of her scenes in this episode and her performance is definitely worth looking forward to. Shehryar Munawar was seen in only one scene but his performance in that scene was power packed, and I am really looking forward to see more of his scenes in the show. I want to get more insight into his character as I found his character very intriguing. Mohsin Mirza has also done a superb job with the direction of the show! Each scene had depth to it and was very well directed.

We all know what is going to happen next, thanks to the promos. I really wish they had not revealed this suspense though. It would have been more exciting to watch the show if we did not know how Aaliyan would get married to Qudsiya.

I feel that this show has a lot of potential and its pace is also very smooth so far. Those who have not seen the episode yet, do watch it for Sajjal and Shehryar’s performance. You would find some scenes worth skipping too, but overall it was a good episode.

Do share your opinion about the first episode as I would love to hear them!
