Yeh Raha Dil Episode 11 Review – So Far So Good!

Ohkay so, even though this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was all over the place but I say that in a good way, like I liked this episode for the fact that they didn’t just make it all about Zaki & Hayat’s feelings for each other but in stead shifted the focus on a lot of different things & the situations that the characters were going through. I liked how they showed that everyone was busy in their own paths now & everyone was trying to do something for themselves. Despite being a bit slow, this episode still worked for me as there are quite a lot of characters so to see their tracks unfold was still interesting.

Affaq was trying to pick up the pieces, seeing his current wife being interested in someone made him realize that his decision of getting married to her was wrong as she was never interested in him as a person. Affaq also visited his parent’s graves because it looks like now that he is back, he is trying to connect to his roots, his people & all those that he left behind in the pursuit or establishing his business & financially stabilizing himself. Affaq is so over this marriage because he knows that his wife can walk out on him any minute, so keeping that aside & despite being hurt, he is now focusing more on Hayat as to how he can help her & help redeem himself in front of his eldest daughter.

Nida continued to be unreasonable, because now it looks like Zaki has become Nida’s obsession, her zidd, probably because this thing is hurting her ego that Zaki can leave her for someone like Hayat who is completely different from her. I think more than being interested in Zaki, Nida is more interested in defeating Hayat because she can not see Hayat getting what belongs or belonged to her. Well, as much as I didn’t expect Jimmy to give Nida some sensible advice but he took me by surprise when he talked Nida out of harming Hayat & told her to win Zaki & his family over with love. It was quite amusing how he suggested Nida to impress Azra by gifting her a lot of clothes, as he thought this would melt Azra’s heart away.

So, Hayat got a call from the school where she will get back to her old job but looks like she has a competitor there already. I found it quite interesting & amusing that Hayat once again met a guy & ended up leaving a bad first impression on him. Hassan seems like a very straight forward & simple sort of a person who is dedicated towards his job & since he has worked so hard, he already has made a name for himself but Hayat couldn’t really absorb it & ended up calling him an idiot. The entire conversation between Hayat & Hassan that revolved around the word ‘idiot’ was funny & the timing of both the actors was perfect. The way Hassan was irritated by Hayat reminded me so much of Zaki because this is exactly the impression that Hayat left on him too, which then compelled me to think that we might have a love triangle on our way but to be honest, seeing how light-hearted & fun this drama is, I most certainly don’t mind!

So, Affaq wants to help Hayat & it is so good that even he knows how dignified & self-sufficient Hayat is that she won’t accept his token of sympathy, that is why he is forced to find ways to help his daughter stealthily & indirectly. I love Hayat’s character for the fact that despite having Affaq back in her life & despite knowing that he wants to redeem himself, she never once thought of relying on him or asking for any favors. It definitely feels good to see a character like Hayat on our screen who believes she can sort the mess of her life by herself & doesn’t sob over it in front of people to seek sympathy from.

Zaki can’t get Hayat out of his mind & may be that’s why he has started maintaining some sort of distance from Nida. Zaki didn’t even have a conversation with Nida but she was the one who was looking desperate to make things work like planning her wedding with Azra. Honestly speaking, just yesterday I was thinking to myself that in our dramas, they do introduce the characters & hint about their careers in the initial episodes but later they forget everything about it, so I was pleasantly surprised to see them showing Zaki back in his culinary school & Hayat back to her counselling job as well as her writing, like it is good to see that our characters have a life other than standing in the porch of their homes or sitting in their TV lounges, having a conversation with one another, like this sort of detailing adds some realism to the drama!

Overall, this episode was interesting but a bit slow, but what uplifted my mood was the preview of the next episode because looks like there will be a conversation between Haroon & Zaki about Hayat once again & I am looking forward to that. I think Nida’s mother will try to knock some sense into Nida’s head too, which is much needed at this stage. I also want to see what Hassan has to offer & how he will change the dynamics of the story. All the actors did a wonderful job & the new addition in the form of Hassan is interesting too. I always have a big smile on my face whenever I am watching Hayat or even Zaki, like Yumna Zaidi & Ahmed Ali have done a phenomenal job, have not only nailed these characters but made this drama a treat to watch as well. Yeh Raha Dil Episode 10 Review – Utterly Sweet!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was absolutely amazing. I love how the human emotions have been conveyed in this drama that too with so much of clarity, like you actually understand what each & every character is going through. I think this is the strength of Mustafa Afridi & shows his intelligence as a writer where he gives so much of personality to his characters & adds so much of an insight that the viewers not only form a connection with them but understand them easily as well. It is amazing how the drama that started off on such a simple note has become so interesting that I find myself waiting for Mondays these days because of Yeh Raha Dil!

I don’t think I can praise the character of Haroon enough. I actually enjoy his ways where he always makes sure to convey what he wants without imposing his ideas on people. Haroon told his wife that for Zaki he found a better partner in Hayat than Nida & if Zaki will ever speak about it, he wouldn’t oppose the idea. Even though both Haroon & Azra want what is best for their son Zaki but what sets Haroon apart from Azra is that he analyzes the situation & makes sure to convey to his son what is better for him & what isn’t like a true well wisher, whereas Azra only believes in fulfilling his desires even if they aren’t fruitful for him. Both the parents have different ways of loving & caring for their son but in this case, I truly believe that Haroon has an upper-hand because he always wants to save his son from any such thing that he might regret later in life, which in this case could be his decision of marrying Nida.

So, obviously at first Zaki was taken aback by his father’s sudden mention of Hayat & he even tried to avoid that conversation but then when he gave it a little thought, he decided to continue that conversation with his father because he wanted a little more guidance, support & clarity. Even though Zaki did say that he loved Nida but may be because he saw that his father wasn’t actually ready to oblige & he wasn’t thrilled with the idea, he put up an entire act to show that he couldn’t live without Nida, exactly like a child with a reverse psychology who believes in doing what he is being told not to. However, ever since Zaki has gotten to know Hayat, at the back of his mind, he had these budding feelings for Hayat which he wasn’t aware of but now hearing about her from Haroon gave him nudge to think on those lines. I absolutely enjoyed the conversation that Zaki had with Haroon where in very easy words, his father made him understand how life was going to give him numerous options but the best option would be where his heart will come into the picture & will guide him to go for it!

I must say, the change in Zaki’s behavior with Hayat after his conversation with Haroon was quite sweet, like even though on his own he was always supportive & caring towards Hayat but this time around, it was something else. Yes, the change in Zaki might make one feel as if he doesn’t have a mind of his own but that’s not the case here because even before he had this conversation with Haroon, Zaki seemed emotionally attached to Hayat & quite a lot at that, but it’s just that getting a green signal from his father made things easier for him. So, Hayat was all busy in her thoughts when Zaki showed up, I absolutely love how Zaki makes Hayat feel that he is all ears to her problems because of which Hayat immediately starts discussing everything with him that is on her mind.

I must say, after Wali & Farah (Diyar-e-Dil) & Hammad & Imaan (Khuda Aur Mohabbat), Zaki & Hayat’s little interaction where Zaki hinted about his feelings to her made me feel that this is how beautifully & innocently romance should be elaborated on our screens. The chemistry, the ambiance & little gesture of assurance from Zaki’s side to tell Hayat that he was going to be there for her & he wanted her was absolutely magical. What made it even more special was that Hayat immediately understood what he was trying to say & Zaki, without saying much said it all but then Hayat obviously had to remind Zaki that he was involved with someone else & that someone else was Hayat’s sister. The usage of the OST in that entire scenario & the scenes that followed was spot on because the lyrics perfectly fitted the situation that both Zaki & Hayat were facing.

I just loved how effortlessly Hayat brought herself out of that situation but even she was affected by it because all of a sudden she reminded herself that if she was deducing Zaki’s intentions accurately, then she will land herself in deep deep trouble & this wasn’t something that she could afford at this stage in her life. Zaki & Hayat’s hesitance was portrayed really well too where later when they met, they tried to be very normal while still feeling a little pressurized by the interaction that they had. I just loved watching all these minute details in this episode because it added so much of depth & charm in the entire situation & what made it even better was how aesthetically everything was done.

I actually had a good laugh when Zaki had this expression on his face when he received a phone call from Nida, it was like he was so done with her & her questions but was just putting up with her because he obviously knows he can not end things all of a sudden especially when he feels burdened thinking what Nida must’ve gone through because of her father’s heart-attack. Even though all this while I have always said that Nida is honest & has no filters but hearing her thoughts about being dependent on Zaki made her seem a little too emotionally detached. Even Nida herself isn’t really sure if she loves Zaki or if she loves the idea of the life that she will have with a guy like him. Nida has always said that she loves him but whenever she had to show it, she couldn’t prove her love, may be that’s why Haroon has never wholeheartedly accepted her as Zaki’s better half because even he can see her shortcomings.

Another thing that I actually like is how the writer has balanced out Haroon’s character like before even noticing or speaking about Nida’s shortcomings, he spoke about all the flaws that his son Zaki had, which makes him a very wise & fair person. Even after Affaq told Haroon that he should sell Hayat House to him for Hayat, despite not being a fan of Nida’s personality, Haroon didn’t go ahead with it & told Affaq that he should convince Nida first as he saw how happy she was after getting this house as a gift & also how she considered it as her own now. It showed that Haroon just didn’t see Nida as a perfect life partner for his son Zaki & apart from that he had no ill feelings towards Nida, rather he respected her wishes & her feelings like a true gentleman.

So, I know, what Nida did & said at the end of the episode was basically an attempt by the writer to put her in a bad light, only to later justify Zaki & Hayat’s relationship but I think more than that, the writer relied on it to make Zaki turn against her because even though chances are slim that something like that would happen, he will eventually find out what Nida was trying to do & will call everything with her quits. I thought Nida believed in keeping her feelings to herself & yes, she actually does but then it makes it seen even more realistic that Nida kept her feelings bottled up for such a long time but now when she lost her cool she pushed herself to such an extreme where she has even lost the ability to think straight. It was good to see Jimmy back in the picture & looks like he will try to help Nida in keeping her relationship intact. I think after this episode, the notion about Nida being immature has been invalidated because if she was immature, she would’ve never sensed the change in Zaki’s attitude & she also wouldn’t have sensed something odd in Hayat & Zaki’s bonding as well.

Overall, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was perfect & I thoroughly enjoyed watching it, like I had this smile on my face whenever Hayat & Zaki were on screen together. The chemistry between Hayat & Zaki was portrayed subtly yet perfectly by Yumna Zaidi & Ahmed Ali, like they both are such strong actors & it was a treat to watch them, especially in this episode. Anum Gohar has improved so much & her acting keeps on getting better & better with each passing episode. Arjumand Azhar Hussain as Haroon has really added so much of grace in this drama. The writer Mustafa Afridi has done it once again & he has given us another beautiful play. The director Siraj Ul Haq has done justice to such a beautiful script & has directed the drama phenomenally, especially by keeping things so simple & effortless, because it actually shows how his input made things easier for the actors & how it helped them own their characters. Everything about this drama is on-fleek. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 09 Review – A Treat To Watch!

Ohkay so, another week, another beautiful episode of Yeh Raha Dil. Even though the factor of comedy has completely subsided in this drama for now but I am actually quite amazed how those initial episodes & that comedy quotient helped the viewers in forming a relationship with the characters because now when they are going through a hard-time, we feel for them. This episode was emotional & everything was done in a right manner. I can’t emphasize enough on how beautiful this drama is & how amazing all the characters are because we can relate to them & their struggles. The team of Yeh Raha Dil has surely brought us a beautiful drama & we highly appreciate it.

So, Hayat got to have a word with Affaq only because Zaki convinced her. Even though Zaki never imagined this would happen but he has gotten involved with Hayat & her struggles to such a level where he deems it as his duty to help her when she needs it & guide her when he thinks she is lost. I am sure if it wasn’t for Zaki, Hayat would have never had a conversation with Affaq. So, finally, Hayat decided to come clean & let her father know of all the pain that he has caused to her & her mother for so many years. Hayat’s claim that 20 years of gap couldn’t be curbed in a 20 minute long meeting was spot on, it just showed that she had no space for him in her life because when she actually needed him, he was nowhere to be seen. Even though Affaq tried to reason with Hayat but he knew that it would be difficult because she believes in her mother’s side of the story. I am sure there would be more to Affaq & Hayat’s mother’s divorce but for now, Hayat seems justified in everything that she feels for her father as she doesn’t have any emotional connection with him. Affaq did try to hint that may be it was Hayat’s mother who had problems & may be she was the one who wanted a divorce but then he chose not to say a word as he could see that Hayat was not only furious but she was also not in a mood to give him a chance to explain himself. Hayat is someone who has seen her mother suffering, that is why it is natural for her to be inclined towards her mother more than her father, who she assumed lived a happy & comfortable life when she & her mother were struggling on their own!

I found Nida’s reaction so believeable & realistic, like at first she seemed indifferent & aloof to the fact that Hayat turned out to be her sister. At first I also felt that Nida was also emotionally detached to her father that is why she wasn’t feeling angry or insecure after learning the truth that he had a daughter from his first marriage too but later the way she reacted when she found out that he had a heart attack went to show that Nida is someone who only keeps her fears & emotions to herself. Yes, when it comes to Zaki, she is quite expressive & shares her concerns & fears with him because he understands her, but when it comes to her family, she deals with things her way & I really like that about her. The way Nida threatened Hayat also seemed justified because those were the words coming from a daughter who was concerned about her father’s well being!

I must say, Zaki’s father Haroon has to be my favorite father character in the recent dramas that I have seen, like I absolutely adore how cool he is & how he always makes sure to keep her son safe & secured from the problems he might get involved into. Haroon can see that Zaki is getting himself involved in Hayat-Affaq-Nida fiasco that is why he just advised him to be cautious & to take a step back. The way Haroon spoke about Hayat in comparison to Nida showed that he would immediately give a nod of approval if he will see Zaki getting interested in Hayat because looks like he sees Hayat as a better life partner for Zaki than Nida. Even in the beginning when Nida started blaming Zaki for being too worried about Hayat, Zaki didn’t have much to say to negate Nida’s concerns as even though he might not admit but what he feels of Hayat is definitely something more than sympathy & after what he told his father, it looks like he is going to explore his feelings for Hayat pretty soon!

Well, let’s talk about the character of the episode, lol, for me it was Nida’s mother. Even though she is selfish & conceited but Ayesha Sana has made that character so realistic. She is unapologetically like that & that is why she is not even scared to voice her concerns despite knowing that her husband wasn’t in the best of his health. Nida’s mother can already see that with Hayat being in the picture, her & Nida’s position can get affected, also she knows that Affaq is quite an emotional person, so that is why she felt threatened that may be Affaq will bless Hayat will all that he has accumulated till date. ‘Beti ka deemagh kharab hai, baap ka dil kharab hai’ was hilarious, even though she is quite a unique character, I enjoy watching her & her scenes. Looks like Nida’s mother also didn’t really approve of Nida being overly concerned for her father because the moment she saw that happening, she started reminding her of all those times when Affaq opposed what Nida wanted to do. It was good to see that at least at that moment Nida understood the gravity of the situation & she was aware of the fact that this was not the suitable time to be discussing those differences because right now Affaq was in a hospital & he needed his family by his side.

So, Hayat came to see Affaq. Even in the initial part of the episode, when she heard that Affaq got a heart-attack, she wanted to go & see him immediately but she stopped herself because she knew this way she will nullify everything that she said to him about not wanting him in her life at all. Hayat took some time to reflect upon the things Affaq said to her & the way she came to meet him did suggest that may be Affaq’s confession about Hayat believing in one sided story, did affect her & may be she did realize that Affaq had a point. Even though at this stage, Hayat didn’t seem too keen to find out what her father wanted to say to her but she came with an intention of giving a closure to this chapter because she actually didn’t want to depend on her father emotionally & she didn’t want to stay associated with him. It was quite wise of Hayat to say that she neither had any hatred for her father nor misunderstanding, but just because she was used to this kind of life, she didn’t want to have any contact with him. I am not sure if Affaq is in a position to not forgive Hayat because his claims didn’t really make sense as he is the one who is guilty.

Overall, this episode was beautiful & emotional. I love how the writer has conveyed the human emotions in such a beautiful manner by writing such perfect situations which when backed by these emotions give so much of depth & meaning to the story. I loved the scene of Hayat & her mother, like it made my heart break for Hayat because at such a young age, she had no father figure in her life, she saw her mother battling a terminal illness & then eventually losing her life to it, like that girl has endured so much, yet she never compromises or sacrifices on her values & dignity, which is commendable. I am loving the direction of this drama, I am loving the acting of all the actors & most importantly, I am loving all the characters too, not sure about Affaq though as I am not too keen on him but the rest including his 2nd wife are amazing & a treat to watch. Loving Yeh Raha Dil. Please share your thoughts about this beautiful episode of Yeh Raha Dil!

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 08 – Heart-warming!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was a little high on emotions but I thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I must say the thing I love the most about this drama is the fact how all the emotions & all the situations have been conveyed so beautifully that no matter what comes my way, I find myself liking it. So, this was exactly the case with this episode too that even though it didn’t have any comic scenes or situations, everything that was shown was quite convincing & realistic.

So, Hayat finally showcased her desperation to earn her home back that she made such sort of commitment to Haroon where she promised that she will pay him back & buy her house from him. I think this is something admirable here that even though Hayat has no plan of action, she has nothing in her hands but all she has is a hope & a dream to get her house back one day. Even though Hayat has assessed Zaki & his family background quite well so far, but isn’t it amazing that Hayat hasn’t thought of exploiting Zaki or Haroon’s niceness & their courtesy even once? Even though in the beginning Hayat was introduced as someone who would manipulate people & sweet-talk them into achieving what she wanted but that was for the smallest of favors but it is actually quite interesting to see that now when she should be resorting to manipulation or things like that, she chose honesty & dignity over everything. It actually is a breath of fresh air to see a girl who believes in herself & is so self-sufficient that despite being in a dire situation, she isn’t looking for shortcuts!

Despite not wanting to, Zaki has grown a lot more courteous towards Hayat because he has finally realized that Hayat is in a difficult situation. The way Zaki tried to cheer Hayat up when he was on the way to drop her to her home was quite cute. For the first time, Hayat showed another trait of her personality that if she puts her mind to something, she will do anything to achieve it. Zaki tried to make Hayat realize that what she was wishing for wasn’t easy but Hayat chose to ignore everything that he was saying because she knew, she didn’t need to hear all of that as it might distract her from her motive.

Finally, Zaki got to meet Nida’s parents. As awkward as that entire interaction was, I loved that scene because it had so much going on in it. I love the fact how the director has made sure to showcase the personalities of all the characters through their reactions in different situations. It has been made clear that Nida is immature but it is a fact that she might be immature but she is not naïve or aloof to her surroundings. Nida could see that her parents especially her mother wasn’t leaving a good impression on Zaki but she tried really hard to cover up & in the end looked at Zaki in such a way as if she was expecting him to understand without registering what her mother was saying. Even though Nida is a little difficult but I like the fact that she hasn’t been shown as a completely negative character. Yes, Nida can be someone that people may form an opinion about a bit too quickly but overall, she is unapologetically like that & at least she makes Zaki happy (for now though). Nida might act impulsively in different situations but the moment she met her parents she knew something was off & that is why she even inquired about it & got to know that their parents were separated & were considering getting divorced, like this is something an indifferent or emotionally absent person would’ve never been able to guess but Nida did, which showed that she isn’t completely immature.

Yes, Nida’s attitude & her overall independent personality might be a point of concern for Haroon because she is not the sort of a partner he wants for his son as he knows Zaki’s weaknesses a a bit too well, that is why time & again he keeps on complaining about Nida’s attitude. Nida has lived her life independently, that is why she finds it hard to communicate with Zaki regarding each & everything because for her pretty much every other thing is nominal whereas for Zaki, things don’t work that way, that is why he seemed a little taken aback by Nida’s demand of showing her parents the house that Haroon bought for him.

So, Affaq finally came to his old house & inquired about the owner. I think it was good that the director didn’t drag this entire thing up & brought the story to such a point where Hayat & Affaq faced each other. Obviously, Hayat hasn’t been in a good place lately & on top of that, seeing her father in front of her after 20 years came as a shock to her. It looks like even though Affaq has done well for himself in his professional life but when it comes to his personal life, he feels empty & a huge void, which definitely has a lot to do with his decision of leaving Hayat & her mother behind. Also, Nida’s mother did say that her & Affaq’s relation was a bit shaky, so I am sure this must be another reason why he seemed so regretful because he must’ve thought that he found a compatible partner in the form of Nida’s mother but he actually didn’t & even after so many years, he was once again at the brink of a divorce. It did seem that he was ready to start afresh with Hayat but I don’t think that would be fair on Hayat’s part to give him a space in her life just because he wants it. I think Affaq will have to earn his place back in Hayat’s life because he has no idea what she has gone through all these years in his absence, so her tantrum or hesitation is quite believable!

Overall, I loved this episode of Yeh Raha Dil too. This episode also had some few but very meaningful conversations, especially the ones that Affaq & Zaki shared every now & then. I must say Ayesha Sana played her part really well & I will also praise the stylist this time around because just by looking at both Nida & her mother, one could tell that they both are related to each other, like there was so much of similarity between them. I actually laughed a lot when Nida told Zaki how she enjoyed being suspicious because that’s something that females enjoy the most. Also, the way Zaki brought food & clothes for Hayat was quite sweet. This drama somehow has a lot of warmth & sweetness attached to it which is something that I love about it the most. All the actors did a commendable job. It is actually quite nice to see Ahmed Ali sharing a unique kind of chemistry with both Anam Gohar & Yumna Zaidi. Ayesha Sana was a nice addition to this episode even though her character was quite odd but she did a commendable job in portraying that. I can’t wait for the next episode already. Yeh Raha Dil Episode 06 Review – Comedy Done Right!

Ohkay so, just when I thought that things might get serious after Hayat & Zaki returning back to Pakistan, I was pleasantly surprised that the quotient of comedy was kept alive in the show even at this stage & because of that, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode of Yeh Raha Dil as well. I am so happy with the direction & the pace of the drama & I really hope it stays this way because every episode brings new developments with it, which is great.

So, Zaki left after learning the truth about what Hayat said to Nida. Even though Hayat couldn’t clarify herself & even though Zaki left on a bitter note, I found it quite sweet that Hayat missed Zaki & most importantly, the friend that she found in him. Zaki actually left a good impression on Hayat because she couldn’t imagine that a guy like him who would always get annoyed by Hayat was actually being considerate towards her & was taking care of smallest of things to comfort her. I think it was quite sweet that Hayat actually missed Zaki like a friend because actually the bonding that they shared was quite special to her.

So, just when I thought that things would get a little awkward for Zaki, he was welcomed with open arms by his parents & then Nida as well. I must say, I loveddd the new entrant in this show which is Julie. Julie actually got quite a lot of coverage & ended up being the one who not only brought Nida & Zaki together but Zaki’s parents closer to her too. It was quite amusing yet adorable seeing all of them like a one happy family being worried about Nida’s pet Julie & I thoroughly enjoyed that entire scenario.

Things surely are working in Zaki’s favor because his father is not only too generous but he loves his son a lot too. Even though it was quite a coincidence that Haroon ended up buying Hayat House but it seemed quite convincing. Haroon had a vision for his son where he saw Hayat House as a perfect place which Zaki could turn into his restaurant. Zaki & Nida were over the moon because they got Haroon’s approval & that is exactly why they didn’t mind the condition that Haroon put forth where he wants Zaki to establish his business in the span of 6 months. I must say, Ayesha Sana as Nida’s mother was a perfect choice, like the mannerisms of both the mum & the daughter were quite similar. I laughed a lot at the conversation that Nida’s mother had with Zaki where she couldn’t stop emphasizing on the fact that Zaki hit the jackpot because her daughter Nida the great, chose him as her life partner, lol!

I must say I loveee how Zaki is always the bone of contention between Haroon & Azra where they keep on fighting over their son but at the end of the day, they both love Zaki unconditionally in their own unique way. Where Azra is a typical emotional mother who wants to fulfill her son’s every single wish, on the other hand Haroon is a practical father who wants what’s best for his son because he knows Zaki a bit too well. I must say, I actually look forward to Azra & Haroon’s scenes because not only their conversations are witty but the actors playing the roles of Haroon & Azra have such an amazing chemistry as worried parents of their burger bacha. It is a rarity in any drama for the characters of parents to be as interesting as the younger lot of the characters & I feel the writer should be commended for that.

So, where everything was going extremely well for Zaki, for Hayat everything turned out to be a nightmare because she finally learned the truth that Salman sold her house & moved out of Pakistan. Even though Salman’s friend suggested filing an FIR against Salman but then again, even though Hayat was scared at the scene she witnessed at the police station, she obviously also understood that there was no point in doing that because Salman was out of her & the police’s reach. It was quite sad to see Hayat looking at her house like it didn’t belong to her anymore, where she had spent her entire life & now all she was left was with the memories of all those days that she lived there. Even though things are looking grim for Hayat at this stage but luckily for her, this house now belongs to Zaki & his family & Zaki has already shown Hayat what he is capable of, in terms of niceness & how he can be a Good Samaritan, so therefore, I am actually feeling relieved that Hayat won’t be suffering much as I assumed because she will have Zaki’s support.

The preview of the next episode seemed quite interesting because looks like Zaki is going to be the one pleading Hayat’s case in front of Nida & Haroon. I don’t know why but I have a feeling that Haroon might tell Hayat to work for Zaki, like may be his restaurant manager or something because she has quite a personality & if she’d come across Haroon ever, I am sure she will leave quite an impression on him. I am thoroughly enjoying watching Yeh Raha Dil because the story is quite interesting, the characters are beautifully written, the situations make a lot of sense & the best part is, everything is conveyed in such a comic manner that it completes the picture flawlessly. I must say, I love the fact that they have kept the comedy quite subtle, believable & situational where you can actually relate to all those witty dialogues because usually this is how regular people communicate on a daily basis too, the best thing is that nothing seems forced when it comes to comedy that is why it is working just right! Ahmed Ali, Yumza Zaidi, Anam Gohar & the actors playing the role of Zaki’s parents, all of them have done such an amazing job & I must say, their comic timing is commendable. Even though we have very few characters in this drama but all of them have such interesting personalities & have so much to contribute in their own accord, that all of them seem to be an important part of the story. I can’t wait for the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil!

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 05 Review – Entertaining!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was quite interesting & like always, I had a great time watching it. I think the way they are taking the story forward is quite convincing & I enjoyed watching Hayat & Zaki’s bonding. It is commendable that the director didn’t rely too much on the beauty of Nepal & has used it as a backdrop while maintaining the focus on Hayat & Zaki’s characters & their track. It is far more interesting to see that Hayat & Zaki are bonding with each other in a new place as they both have no one else to have a conversation with because now when they will go back to Pakistan, I don’t think them not being in Nepal would make any difference to the story. I think this is a perfect & an intelligent way to use a location or a different country by keeping it in the background & not making it a focal point of the episode, the story or the drama!

So, Zaki felt he needed to take Hayat to the hospital out of courtesy as he saw her fainting in front of him. After that, Zaki had no escape because he showed Hayat the signs that he was ready to be her friend, at least this is what Hayat assumed even if Zaki wasn’t in the mood for that as she is someone who is unapologetically clingy & doesn’t mind bothering someone if she grows comfortable around them. It was nice to see Hayat & Zaki sharing conversations about different things. Zaki for the first time got to realize that Hayat was in a grave situation where she was unable to contact her friend & was complaining about little things that were bothering her. Yes, Zaki’s gesture of paying the hospital bills & not telling about it to Hayat was quite sweet & then gifting her a new phone just so that he could help her in some way went to show that he was now realizing that Hayat was quite dignified where she never once tried to use these things to seek sympathy from of him, rather she only posed that she needed his support as she was alone.

For the first time Hayat showed Zaki that side of hers which she till date has probably shown to Salman, but luckily the difference is that Salman used that to benefit himself whereas Zaki is not going to use it against her because he already has grown a little compassionate towards her & also because he is genuinely a nice guy who comes from a very decent family background. Hayat decided to share her past with Zaki by telling her about the ugly divorce that her parents went through. Her mother is no more & she has no idea where her father is & she most certainly doesn’t bother because obviously, she must have all her sympathies & all her feelings attached to her mother as she must’ve seen her struggling & doing everything for Hayat, whereas her father after divorcing his wife forgot that he had a child which he should maintain a relationship with despite not being married to Hayat’s mother any more. I find it quite admirable that a young girl like Hayat who comes from a broken family & has already lost her only parent, is so full of life & isn’t scared of anything. Yes, Hayat does have her moments where she feels lonely & vulnerable but then again, she knows how to pick herself up & face the world.

Jimmy is creating one issue after another for Nida & Zaki because obviously, he knows what Nida’s worth & Jimmy already thinks it is ridiculous that Nida is ready to toss her career away for a guy like Zaki. Just because Jimmy told Zaki a different version, Zaki chose to believe that immediately & changed his plans of going back to Pakistan, I think this explained a lot about Zaki’s personality & his indecisiveness. Zaki is someone who can be easily manipulated into believing something because he doesn’t put his mind through to analyze the situation himself, which makes him look a little gullible & also makes me feel that he allows people to cloud his judgments easily. May be this is why I feel that Zaki is just infatuated with Nida but just because she has told him that he loves her, he is believing her without putting much thought into the fact whether he actually loves her or not.

It was good to see Hayat doing some much needed counselling of Zaki where she was telling him about her philosophy of love & how it actually should be because everything that Hayat said to Zaki about the way Nida was treating him or their relationship was spot on. Zaki is burdened by this love & he doesn’t understand. Zaki trusts Nida completely even after she is into such a career which can make a partner insecure so similarly, Nida should trust Zaki too but she chooses not to, which shows that may be she is insecure or may be she thinks Zaki is not a man of his word who’d stand by his decision of marrying her, like may be Nida thinks Zaki is emotionally quite weak & like I said, he can get manipulated? Nida might not say it but the things that Haroon told her about Zaki are definitely on her mind that is why she has grown a lot more restless & insecure about her relationship with Zaki & also about Zaki as her partner in general!

I had a good laugh at the conversation that Nida & Hayat shared, like Nida didn’t know who she was dealing with because Hayat is someone who has to give it back to the one who insults her, without even worrying about the consequences. All this while, Zaki was telling her about all the problems that he was facing because of Hayat & she ended up adding more fuel to the fire just because she was furious & wanted to give Nida a hard time. I am sure Hayat & Zaki’s friendship will hit the rock bottom because Zaki already seemed quite shocked at his mother’s phone call & after he learnt the truth about what Hayat actually said to Nida!

Overall, this episode was entertaining & well-directed. I love the fact that all the characters are quite real & no one is completely black or white, like even though Nida might look like a difficult person to deal with but then again, she seems realistic because this is how usually girls who are insecure react. The dialogues were quite amusing too, I had a good laugh at ‘Haleem aur Nihari ka bhi pooch lo’ & seriously the way Hayat tried to explain what ‘waara’ actually meant but she didn’t know how to describe it was something that I could personally relate to because this is the word that I use as well but struggled really hard when once I had to explain the meaning behind it, lol! Yumna Zaidi, Ahmed Ali & Anum Gohar, all three have done a marvelous job. Adnan Jaffer is another strong performer & has added so much humor to the drama. I can’t wait for the next episode already, please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil!

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 04 Review – A Treat To Watch!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was once again quite interesting & a treat to watch mostly because the main focus was on two polar opposite characters who are interacting with each other time & again. The direction of the drama so far has been great & so is the writing especially the way the characters have been etched out. Everything at this stage is falling into its right place, that is why despite not offering something entirely new, Yeh Raha Dil still seems refreshing & enjoyable!

So, Zaki’s mother continued to support him because she being a mother can not do without her son. Zaki’s father is practical but when it comes to Zaki’s mother, she is emotional, that is why despite understanding her husband’s concerns, she is a bit more worried about what her son wants. Zaki’s parents do understand that just because Zaki is their only child, they allowed him to get away with everything & now that is something that is bothering them a bit more because Zaki has gotten used to the idea of getting what he wants by hook or by crook. Zaki knows that no matter what happens, his parents will never go against his wishes, that is why despite being away from his home, he is still being taken care of, emotionally because of his mother & financially because of his father. Even though at this stage, Zaki might seem a little immature & childish that is because his mother is assisting him in this emotional blackmailing drama due to which he is unable to understand his father’s perspective.

Hayat continued to pester Zaki & Zaki was so not happy with her. Even though Hayat may pose to be a strong & confident individual, which she actually is, but right now, just because she is alone that too in a new place without any contact with Salman in Pakistan, she really wants to rely on Zaki. Hayat thinks she can cute her way into Zaki’s space & he will fall for all the sweet-talk that she directed at him but just because Zaki is so preoccupied with the havoc that he has created in his father’s life, he is really not in a right state of mind to form a friendship with Hayat. Though it was nice to see that just when Hayat really wanted his phone to contact Salman, after resisting for a while, Zaki decided to help her because he could see that she was desperate.

I must say that entire food-poisoning scenario was so realistic & relate-able like usually when your environment changes & you step out of your comfort zone, it becomes hard for your body to adjust to these changes & it was pretty realistic that just because Hayat must’ve eaten something which she wasn’t used to, she got sick. Once again, just when Zaki was trying to play the hero in front of his lady-love by telling that his drama was paying off, Hayat decided to rely on him because she herself was scared & wanted someone by her side. I liked how this episode was a lot more situational & momently, like these sort of episodes don’t give you much to talk about‌ in the reviews because they solely rely on a lot of interaction & conversations between the characters & those can not be discussed or dissected but on the whole they allow you to have a great time while you’re tuned to them & that is why, all the conversations that happened between Hayat & Zaki were so interesting that I couldn’t stop smiling as I was having such a good time.

I enjoyed watching Nida in this episode too, like it was kind of sweet of her when she was trying to engage Zaki into a conversation asking him to share his feelings, thinking that he must be feeling homesick as she does understand that everything that Zaki is doing is because of her. Nida might be immature as well but at least when it comes to Zaki, she makes him happy & gives him the sort of attention that he wants. Her reaction when she felt that Zaki was with some girl was natural, she felt jealous, insecure & completely forgot that all the effort that Zaki was making was only because of her. Another sweet moment of this episode was when Zaki’s mother gets to know that Haroon sent Zaki a message asking him to contact her so that she can worry a little less for her son & later when she tells her husband what he means to her. I find Zaki’s parents interactions quite amusing, cute & very realistic, like they bicker one moment & the next they are trying to make each other understand what’s good for their son & what isn’t.

Overall, I had a great time watching this episode. I must say what I am loving about Yeh Raha Dil is how the characters have been elaborated like all of them seem so complete & have a personality of their own, which is a rarity in our dramas so it is something commendable. Yumna Zaidi definitely carried this episode on her shoulders & Ahmed Ali supported her perfectly because he was equally as good as her. I loved how effortless & flawless Hayat & Zaki’s interactions were, like the entire feel where Hayat was trying to be clingy while Zaki was trying to get rid of her was prevalent in all of their scenes, Yumna & Ahmed have really taken care of the mood of the scenarios through their acting & expressions & that is why it is turning out to be such an enjoyable drama. I can’t wait for the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil & yes, my apologies for a short & hurried review, just not too well & finding it hard to stay awake. ;)

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 03 Review – Breath of Fresh Air!

Ohkay so, this episode of Yeh Raha Dil was quite interesting & I had a great time watching it. I feel this episode was filled with so many interesting conversations that they made every other scene engaging & enjoyable. Now that the main leads have landed in Nepal, I really hope that they don’t rely too much on the scenic beauty that Nepal has to offer & keep the focus on the story, but I am sure they won’t be depending too much on the location to keep the viewers distracted because it has been revealed that Yeh Raha Dil is an adaptation of a Korean Drama ‘Full House’, so I am sure it will stay interesting because the writer must’ve taken all the ingredients to make the drama a complete package because when it comes to Korean Dramas, their dramas are at some other level. However, I will say that the fact that Yeh Raha Dil is a Pakistani version of a Korean drama doesn’t make it any less enjoyable or anything because for me, it is a fresh change & is quite unique so it is definitely working for me!

So, Haroon thinks Zaki is only infatuated with Nida & he needs to do some thinking before making the final decision because Haroon knows his son a bit too well. All of Haroon’s concerns might make him seem rigid but he only wants what’s best for his son as he is scared that Zaki might get hurt. Haroon is far more wise & experienced than Zaki that is why he can foresee that Nida & Zaki aren’t meant to be as Nida is not going to prove to be an ideal wife that would make Zaki & his parents happy. Zaki’s parents’ concerns about Nida were believable, like they weren’t making a big deal out of a non-issue because Nida most certainly left such an impression that forced them to do some thinking!

Zaki’s father warned him about Nida & her intentions & that is why he believed that their love needed to be put through a test, therefore he told Zaki to ask Nida if she was ready to make some compromises but even before Zaki could ask Nida about all of that, Nida told him what her plan was. I don’t blame Nida because she has been raised like that by her parents & just because she is so successful at such a young age, she doesn’t find it necessary for Zaki to be taking any pressures from his parents. Just because Nida has lived such an independent life, she is unable to relate to the life that Zaki is leading where he is totally dependent on his parents. Nida on her own is right because while still being independent she is a little immature to understand how important it is to have a family & how necessary it would be for Zaki to be in touch with his parents otherwise he will grow out of this relationship pretty quickly. Right now, just because Nida & Zaki are facing some resistance from Haroon, they are not thinking about how they can convince him & are not even trying to think about the fact that his concerns might be valid, but rather they are looking for the short cuts which will guarantee them togetherness irrespective of the price they will have to pay.

So, Zaki being a spoiled son once again decided to blackmail his parents by leaving the country as he knew that this will put some pressure on his father & he will end up succumbing to it. I loved how realistic & cute Zaki’s parents are where his mother is like a true depiction of all the mothers who worry about their children & find it as their duty to fulfill all their wishes & Zaki’s father is like any typical father who carries a tough facade but is so soft & kind-hearted from the inside that even he couldn’t stop worrying about his son but was too afraid to let anyone know that even he is restless at what his son did. I loved that entire scenario where Haroon said one thing & the very next moment he proved that he was actually Qaroon as he took care of the amount that he felt Zaki might be needing for his trip.

So, finally Hayat flew to Nepal & met Zaki on the way. I loved their conversations & interaction, it was actually quite amusing how Hayat was trying to make it look like travelling was such a nominal thing for her but as their journey went on, through her actions she started giving away that she was travelling for the first time. Hayat is someone who loves a company & always wants to be surrounded by someone she can have a conversation with, that is why it was amusing how she was trying to get pally with Zaki but he was so not into it as he already finds Hayat a little weird & annoying. The first reminder that Hayat got was when she found out that Salman didn’t make any reservations for her but just because she was so excited to be in Nepal & just because she trusts Salman so much, she couldn’t even bring herself to think that something was off.

Salman & his wife Ragini proved that they were just being friendly with Hayat because they had their sights on her bungalow that she must’ve inherited from her parents. It was sad that despite knowing that this house was the only safety net in Hayat’s life, Salman & Ragini stayed focused on their plan in which Salman intends to sell the property off & settle abroad. Even though I feel bad for Hayat & I know she will be shattered emotionally but I am sure she has the ability to make Salman pay for his crime if she will ever get in contact with him & I just can’t wait to see that. I hope after learning the truth that it was Salman who sold her house, Hayat’s character will still have some spark where she will fight her battle in a quirkiest way.

Overall, this episode was quite interesting. I loved all the conversations because they made every other scene quite engaging. I am definitely loving the acting of all the actors & all the characters are just so amazing. I had such a good laugh at Jimmy & his ordeal where he was informing Nida about the stuff he faced last night when she dropped him off in the middle of nowhere, lol, like there was a lot of margin for Adnan Jaffer to go overboard with Jimmy’s character but he most certainly didn’t. Even though we know he is a little different but Jimmy still seems so real & funny. I loved Yumna Zaidi’s acting & I had a good time watching Ahmed Ali too because out of all the episodes, he got a lot of coverage for the first time in this episode & his performance as Zaki was definitely convincing. Overall, really happy with the drama & definitely looking forward to it. The preview seemed promising too. Anam Ahmed was quite cute as Nida & it was actually amusing where she was trying to prove a point in front of Zaki’s parents regarding how much Zaki loves her. lol! Please share your thoughts about this episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 02 Review – Thoroughly Enjoyable!

Ohkay so, I thoroughly enjoyed watching this episode of Yeh Raha Dil. What I’m loving about this drama is that they are showing us the issues & the problems that all the main characters & their loved ones are facing while still having a comic relief throughout the drama because it makes things a lot more interesting, light-hearted & entertaining. I think this approach makes a drama a complete package where the problems are highlighted as well but are balanced out with a little bit of wit & humor. While watching this episode, I couldn’t stop thinking that it is the same director who has directed Dil Banjara too but he couldn’t extract such effortless & casual kind of acting from Adnan Malik & Sanam Saeed, but look what he has done here that he has literally brought out the best in a newcomer like Anam Ahmed who was actually quite weak in her previous drama. I think as much as it depends on the director to bring out the best in the actors, it also depends on the actors to do their best by following the lead of the director because I can’t emphasize enough on how much impressed I am with Anam Ahmed’s acting in this episode & in this drama in general.

So, Nida’s family-like friend Jimmy (Adnan Jaffer) got introduced in this episode & looks like he is not only a designer but is Nida’s manager too because he literally makes most of the decisions on her behalf as he knows what her worth is. Just like any practical man out there who is well aware of how the fashion industry works, Jimmy grew overly concerned for Nida because he knew that she couldn’t afford to get married at such a stage in her life where she is at the peak of her modelling career. Jimmy is someone who can easily manipulate people by showing them the practical side of the picture, plus he knows that Nida has given him a lot of edge, that is why he openly voiced his disagreement at her decision of getting married. Just because Nida has lived quite an independent sort of life, away from her home, away from her parents, basically away from any kind of a safety net, she has become quite practical, that is why it took only a few facts mentioned by Jimmy for her to second guess herself & her decision of getting married to Zaki. There’s no doubt about the fact that Nida loves Zaki a lot & wants to settle down with him but she is also someone who won’t just go with the flow & follow what Zaki or his parents would want, in fact she is someone who believes in making her own ways & following them, so it will be hard for her to compromise or make sacrifices just because of the fact that she loves Zaki.

I really really like the relationship that Hayat shares with Salman. Once again, Salman was being warned about the audit that is soon going to take place but Salman somehow believes he will dodge the bullet. Just like Hayat, Salman is also someone who can easily persuade people into believing him, that is why he convinced his friend to lend him the money. It was nice to know that Salman actually has so much of respect for Hayat & treats her like a family because he feels indebted to her as she was the one who helped him & his wife when they decided to get married for which his wife eloped from her house. At first, I did feel that may be Salman’s wife won’t be too happy about Hayat & Salman’s friendship but it was so good to see her getting along with Hayat like a friend as well. I think it was quite sweet of Salman & his wife to gift Hayat a trip to Nepal, just because he understood that she is someone who should explore the world & should step outside of her comfort zone. I think it was quite thoughtful of Salman that just because Hayat told him that her novel got rejected because the publishers didn’t see any authenticity in her writing as she herself hasn’t visited those places that she writes about, Salman decided to do something about it. Seeing how Salman is, like how he thinks about his profit & wants to make money, I really wish that this gesture is purely based on his true friendship & doesn’t have any ulterior motive like where he must be thinking that this trip will help Hayat in a way that her novel might get published & she might start making a lot of money so that later he can mooch off her. This is a thought that has crossed my mind purely based on how Salman is in his professional life which is hidden from his wife & also his friend Hayat too but then, seeing how much he respects Hayat, I really hope it is just a friendly gesture with no strings attached.

So, finally Jimmy accompanied Nida to the dinner that she was invited for at Zaki’s place. Jimmy is someone who might pose to be all sweet & gullible but he surely knows when to push the buttons, that is why all the things that he kept on saying about Nida & even Zaki only showcased how his only intention was to stuff this meeting up so that the talks about Zaki & Nida’s marriage is left in the lurch. Zaki’s father, who already wasn’t thrilled with the idea of Zaki’s marriage with an independent practical girl like Nida got a confirmation when he had a conversation with her, like it was good to know that he didn’t mind Jimmy’s presence & neither did he judge Nida based on the sort of a friend she had, but he was more concerned & worried about his son as he is well aware of his restless & adventurous nature that doesn’t allow him to be content with what he has in his life for a longer period of time. I liked the fact that Haroon didn’t try to put the blame on Nida but only made her familiar with his own son’s short-comings.

Overall, this episode was amazing. I can’t even remember how many times I had a hearty laugh, which was so refreshing because I loved the humor & I loved the situational comedy. The conversations were so interesting especially the one that happened between Hayat & Salman in the beginning of the episode & the one that Haroon & Jimmy had as well. I love how casual & unapologetic sort of relationship both Salman & Hayat share, like in literal sense this is how friendships should be like & it is good to see two characters sharing such a bond. I must say the addition of Adnan Jaffer was a treat in this episode, even though he will be stirring some troubles for Nida here & there but the comic relief that he provided was amazing & I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don’t know the name of the actor playing the role of Salman (I’d appreciate if someone could help me with that) but I like the effortlessness in his acting as well. The scenes where Salman, his wife & Hayat bonded were really nice too. I must say, I am so impressed & pleased with Anam Ahmed’s acting that literally for a second I thought she should’ve been in the article that Fatima & I just posted about the Top Fresh Faces of Pakistani Television, like seeing such an improvement in an actor is a treat & I really think the director deserves a special mention for giving all the actors such a brief to act themselves & be comfortable in front of the camera. I think Anam Ahmed on her own has worked really hard on her dialogue delivery, her body language, her expression & her over all acting because she now looks a lot confident while facing the camera & I can not believe she is the same girl who was the only weakling in Kathputli which aired just a few months ago. Anyways, overall I am pretty pleased with the drama, the plot & the characters. Yumna Zaidi makes all her scenes a treat to watch & Ahmed Ali so far has gotten a bit of a limited coverage but he made the most of the scenes in which he was present. I can’t wait to see the next episode & I think yeh Raha Dil is going to make us wait for Mondays from now on. Please share your thoughts about this amazing episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 01 Review – Thoroughly Enjoyable!

Ohkay so, the production of MD Productions, writing of Mustafa Afridi & direction of Siraj ul Haq; Ye Raha Dil commenced tonight on Hum TV & I must say this drama had such an amazing start, so much so that I am excited & looking forward to the next episode already. This episode delivered what they promised, it was comic & I am sure as the story will progress it will have some romance too. I have always felt that our drama-makers didn’t do really well in the genre of rom-com but I think my opinion is about to be changed & the credit for that will definitely go to Mustafa Afridi. In the past, we have already seen what Mustafa Afridi is capable of in terms in writing so I am sure he has something amazing in store for us this time around too. The episode introduced the characters & their tracks pretty well & I had such a great time watching the first episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

The drama began with a very dramatic scene where the hero Zaki (Ahmed Ali) is seen convincing his parents Haroon Baig & Azra to allow him to get married to the girl of his dreams. Zaki being the only son of Haroon & Azra knows that he has a lot of edge & he knows exactly how to pull the strings that will assure him of getting what he wants. All Zaki had to do was to drench himself in the rain & pull off a little bit of drama to melt the heart of his mother & then rest was history because he knew that if he will have his mother on his side, she will eventually end up convincing Zaki’s father too.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 01 Review - Thoroughly Enjoyable!

Another character that got introduced was of Hayat (Yumna Zaidi), an orphan & a writer by profession who is full of life. Hayat puts up a facade of being happy-go-lucky, whereas deep inside, she is just a very emotional & childlike sort of a girl who feels lonely because she doesn’t have her parents in her life anymore. Hayat is someone who knows how to bring herself out of any messy situation because she is present-minded & spontaneous. Hayat has a go-getter sort of an attitude & she is someone who would do anything for her friends. One trait of hers that I feel might land her into a trouble would be her ability to trust people easily. Hayat’s best friend Salman helps her & always goes out of the way but looks like he himself is hiding a lot of things from Hayat & is probably involved in some shady business.

Yeh Raha Dil Episode 01 Review - Thoroughly Enjoyable!

The third & the last character that got introduced was of Zaki’s love-interest Nida (Anam Ahmed), who is a model by profession & loves Zaki a lot. Nida is blunt & straight forward but she is innocent as well. Zaki’s father finds the choice of her career a little objectionable & that is why he believes that Zaki & Nida won’t be able to lead a happy life but just after Azra tries to make him understand that he shouldn’t judge Nida because of the kind of work she does, Haroon tells her to arrange a meeting with Nida & her family to see how things roll.

Zaki, Nida & Hayat share a little moment where Hayat damages Zaki’s car but like a confident & sweet-talker that she is, she gets away from that entire situation by fooling Zaki & Nida easily. Nida is someone who believes in rules whereas for Hayat, there are no rules & the rules are meant to be broken as far as they benefit her. The entire interaction of the three characters was the highlight of the episode for me, it was quite amusing to see Hayat trying to make herself look like a bigger & better person whereas she was guilty & she knew it. Hayat’s second half of the day involved fooling a policeman & a bank employee who only wanted to confiscate Salman’s car but Hayat successfully saved her best friend’s car too because she believed in him & thought that those guys were conning her. After an eventful day & right before her birthday, Hayat got a news that she least expected, which was regarding the novel that she wanted to get published but looks like the editor couldn’t convince the publishers & that brings her morale down. She wishes herself happy birthday while still being teary eyed because that’s when the reality daunts her that she is alone & has no one by her side, which was quite an emotional sight.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed watching the very first episode of Yeh Raha Dil. I loved all the main characters & what I loved the most was how different their personalities were. It is given that in a Mustafa Afridi drama the dialogues will be amazing but I never knew that every other conversation will be filled with such witty dialogues which will make me laugh out loud. I must say, in order to convey such wit & humor, the actors need to have an amazing comic timing & I feel there is no other actress like Yumna Zaidi who could’ve fitted the role of Hayat so well, Ahmed Ali & Anam Ahmed also supported Yumna Zaidi quite well in those scenes too. It looks like Yumna Zaidi is always in her comfort zone when it comes to playing the bubbly & happy-go-lucky characters like these, so she shone in the very first episode. Ahmed Ali was great too in the limited scenes that he got, but I must say, last but definitely not the least, after watching Kathputli, I assumed that Anam Ahmed would still be a little weak in terms of acting but she changed my opinion in the very first scene of hers & what an impressive improvement I must say. If I compare her acting in the entire drama of Kathputli & in the very first episode of Yeh Raha Dil, I will say she did an impressive job this time around, like she seemed far more comfortable in front of the camera & her dialogue delivery was effortless too. Now with three strong performers & amazing characters, I am definitely looking forward to what’s in store for us. The OST was nice, the production value seemed decent & the direction was great too. Mustafa Afridi’s dialogues & Yumna Zaidi as Hayat – definitely were the two strong points of this episode for me. I can’t wait to see the next episode already. Please share your thoughts about the very first episode of Yeh Raha Dil.

Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai- The tragedy continues…

YMDH has undergone so many changes, it’s hard to keep track of the story anymore.

The evil Phupis managed to score a double whammy- they accused Atiya of having an affair with Tauseeq which resulted in Tauseeq divorcing Rakhshanda much to her delight and Nafeesuddin rejecting Atiya and labelling her an immoral woman. Jaani, who was reeling from his own personal loss of Mehtaab, fell victim to the web of lies and shunned his mother. Atiya, torn with grief over her son’s rejection, realized her life wasn’t worth living anymore and ended her misery by setting herself on fire. She left behind a suicide note which had enough truth to it to finally wake Jaani up from his stupor. Nafeesuddin used Jaani’s hatred to his own benefit- he had Jaani convinced that he was miserable with a woman like Atiya and wanted to marry Nighat to salvage what was remaining of his life. Jaani came to his senses and realized that his father was guilty of partaking in his Phupis plan and managed to hold himself hostage forcing his father to call off his nikah.

Mehtaab found herself in a compromising situation with Shakoor- when she rejected his advances, he tried to defame her by sensationalizing her affair with Jaani. But he didn’t stop there, he framed her for taking innocent lives by tampering with the injections she was preparing for her patients at the hospital. With multiple lives lost, Mehtaab found herself in a dilemma as no one believed her innocence and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Jaani struggled to hire a lawyer who would help Mehtaab but failed…

Fast forward ten years and Jaani fuelled by his helplessness at having lost not one but two women (his mother and Mehtaab) took it upon himself to better his circumstances. He worked hard and became the most reputable lawyer in town jiskey naam ka sikka purey sheher mein chalta hai… Ironic really that despite being so resourceful, he couldn’t do a thing to change Mehtaab’s circumstances! On the Homefront, however, he was surely the boss. His father, now old and guilt-ridden was living at his mercy; his eldest Phupi was unfortunately still alive and living with him too. However, the tables had turned and now he was the one spewing the insults. His other Phupi, the divorced Rakshanda was still bitter and spiteful but dependent on Jaani for financial support. Her two daughters grew up into seedhi saadhi bhooli bhaali masoom larkiyan… Somehow! Zeba ( Sundus Tariq) secretly fantasizes about becoming Mrs. Jaani and Meena (Anoushey Abbassi) developed an instant liking for their durr ka rishtedaaar Ahmer (an actor so forgettable, I hope I never have to see him again). However, in yet another crazy twist, Ahmer asked for Zeba’s hand in marriage and when Zeba tried to express her feelings for Jaani, he mocked her and reminded her that he found her repulsive but he had a soft spot for Meena… With Rakshanda finding out about her cancer, she hurried to have her daughters married off and Jaani used her desperation to seek vengeance- he left Meena at the altar and the family humiliated… Dr. Nafeesuddin went to meet Mehtaab and begged her to set Jaani free and Mehtaab commanded Jaani to take Meena as his wife… Jaani agreed to her demands on the condition that she would agree to become his wife and proposed to her with a diamond ring which she sheepishly accepted… Such lovebirds, these two!

With all these plot twists, and with Mehtaab taking a break from her red lipstick, the responsibility for providing glamorous red visuals has fallen on the fragile shoulders of Meena. She’s been fashioned as a younger version of Mehtaab- piercing green eyes, brown hair, flawless complexion and that bold shade of red that hypnotized Jaani as a child. Will Jaani find himself falling for Meena once she becomes his wife or will be remain loyal to Mehtaab? For now, Jaani’s determined to make Meena’s life a living hell as a form of retribution for the sins committed by her mother. YMDH has been stretched way beyond its expiration date but I’ve got to hand it to the imagination of the creative minds behind this project- they keep throwing in everything they have to keep this going on. Looking forward to seeing how (and when) thus finally ends!

Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai- The end!

It took 48 episodes for YMDH to wrap up and I feel like I’ve been in a stupor all along. What just happened? I doubt my words can do justice to the monstrosity I’ve exposed myself over the past few weeks but if I had to pick one moment which I consider above and beyond, it has to be Mehtaab’s parting words of wisdom- waise Jahangir, hairat ki baat haina, apki zindagi mein aney wali teenon auraton ke naam meem se shuru hotay hein- meem se Mehtaab, meem se Meena aur meem se Morni… Aur meem se mohabbat!!! I have to say, plagiarizing Khalil ur Rehmaan’s Khey se Khalil, Re se Rukhsaana aur Meem se Mohabbat is nothing short of a cardinal sin!

I watched YMDH out of curiosity- I had no hopes pinned to it whatsoever but I wanted to see how they would narrate the story of an older woman falling for a younger man. Had they actually focused on Mehtaab and Jahangir’s story, this drama may actually have been something else. Instead, they chose to twist it with irrelevant characters, time lapses and one tragedy after another. Mehtaab and Jahangir were in a unique situation as they defied the norms of our society. But did we really need to see Jahangir turn evil? Did we care about Shakoor Bhai? Or the Phupis? Did we need Meena? If Jahangir was committed to Mehtaab, why did he marry Meena? And forget that, how could he possibly get smitten with Morni who was younger than his son and had nothing in common with him? An uneducated orphan girl raised by Shakoor constantly bickering with a fake Dadi who was a tawaif by profession! Keeping aside the obvious class differences, what did he possibly find irresistible about a girl while he had devoted his life to Mehtaab?

image image

And why did Mehtaab turn cuckoo? Why did they end up making her seem like nothing more than a social climbing nut job? Why defame nurses in such a cheap way? I found it revolting when another red lipstick smeared nurse constantly made passes at Jahangir and stated that she was no different than Nurse Mehtaab! How this Nanney Ashik turned out to be the hero, the saviour is simply beyond me. The way I see it, Jahangir was in desperate need of counselling since he grew up in an unhappy environment. His mother suffered from a severe inferiority complex so a part of him missed out on having a mother. His father was obsessed with beauty so he subconsciously inherited that trait from him. Jahangir was smitten by Mehtaab- not only did he find her physically appealing, he also found solace in her presence. I feel Mehtaab and Jahangir’s relationship had plenty of potential but it was smeared by a lack of direction. Jahangir was socially awkward became increasingly dependent on Mehtaab and had the writer kept Mehtaab true to her original character, she could’ve been a strong female influence and helped Jahangir overcome his childhood issues that clearly carried over.

I do believe A Plus is a channel that dares to be different- I’ve liked Aunn Zara, Pehchaan and Mera Naam Yusuf Hai and a few other dramas such as Marasim and Farwa ki ABC have clicked with the audience too. YMDH played out like a film and I was totally okay with that but there comes a point where the story stops making sense and that’s when you know it’s going downhill. There was no recovering from there on. I sometimes felt as if the producer was determined to sabotage the project or was this someone else’s doing? Surely this story didn’t need 48 episodes! Even half of that was a stretch!

Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai- Episode 9 – 14

The past six episodes seemed to drag on forever. Atiya cautioned Nafeesuddin that Jaani is on the verge of making a blunder and she hinted at Mehtaab being the cause of his Deewanapan. Jaani made a dash to express his undying love for Mehtaab but that resulted in her getting tossed out of the house and Jaani was beaten up by his crazy father until he bled. Mehtaab found her way to her friend Rehana’s home. Rehana is a nurse and is married to Shakoor who works in a morgue and on the side, he practices dark magic using dead bodies. I don’t get why Shakoor and Rehana’s story is given such importance that much of the previous few episodes were about their lives.

Nurse Mehtaab has finally managed to get settled and even has a home now- one that she used to live in with her ex husband. Again, I fail to see the relevance in this. Tauseeq and Atiya continue consoling each other giving the family an opportunity to question their relationship. Nighat is divorced and is now living in Nafeesuddin’s home and is determined to be a part of his life. The storyline was all over the place almost as if the writer asked for volunteers to contribute a short story and finally consolidating them into the main one.

The only constant remained Mehtaab’s red lipstick! Yes, rain or shine, Mehtaab doesn’t shy away from that luscious red. Jaani managed to track her down and now sits by her door and watches her come and go… Shakoor Bhai has his eyes on Mehtaab too! Will Jaani win his love back by saving her from the evil clutches of the dispecable Shakoor Bhai? Will Mehtaab ditch her 11 year old tube of lipstick and replace it with a new shade? Will Rakshanda finally do the naagin dance? Will Atiya ever get a break from the kitchen and those rotis? Oh, I almost forgot to mention, Nafeesuddin took Jaani to see a psychiatrist- I think pretty much everyone is in household is in need of some serious help!

Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai- Episode 7 & 8

What could be more gratifying than watching YMDH? Well, with two weekly episodes (woot woot), I get to do a marathon! Yay me! And yay to all my fellow viewers who anxiously await the weekly dose of Atiya’s badsoorti ka rona, Rakshanda’s meri jooti, Altaf Behen’s daishat and gundagardi, Mehtaab’s laal lipstick and Jaani’s deewanapan

image

At the end of episode 6, Rakshanda walked out on her husband Tauseeq after he slapped her- but shortly afterwards he came to manao her only to be humiliated by both the sisters. These two stooges wanted to maintain control of their Abba’s ghar and had purposely forced Nafeesuddin to marry Atiya so they could continue their gharelu domination. So these two evil geniuses decided that since their brother is a sucker for khoobsurti, getting him a badsurat biwi will ensure he’s never paying attention to his home thus allowing them to call the shots. Altaf Behen sacrificed her jawaani for the sake of her throne- but arranged another mismatch of epic proportions for Rakshanda. Tauseeq, a ghareeb ghar ka larka, was the chosen one. I must be missing something here but this Union has resulted in children that Rakshanda resents so umm, why did Rakshanda play the role of the dutiful wife when she only married him so she could dictate him?

image

The husn- parast Nafeesuddin is now a shaqqi shohar who fears Tauseeq has his eyes on Atiya. Atiya and Tauseeq’s camaraderie is causing quite a few eye sores or in the case of Altaf Behen, she probably has a case of bedsores… I’m curious to know who chose the nagin soundtrack playing in the background every time Rakshanda appears- big thumbs up whoever you are.

image

Moving on to the main leads- Mehtaab is still clueless that Jaani has the hots for her. Mehtaab ji, aap ki talaaq ke waqt kya apki aqal bhi aapsey bichar gayi thi? So Jaani is all dressed up in a suit… to escort his lady love… Arm in arm… to a picnic… At the beach… Yeah… One by one, my brain cells are dying a slow, painful death…

Atiya finally realizes that her Jaani’s awaarapan, sorry deewanapan is not restricted to his stammering but he’s in a rush to grow up so he can be a man for the woman who saved her marriage… These twists I tell you! That’s all for now, peeps. I’m off to binge watch another two episodes… Who’s with me?

Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai- An Overview

I’ve scaled down my binge watching of Pakistani dramas not only due to time constraints but mostly because I’m at a point where I’ve just about had it with the same ghissi pitti topics and truth be told, I really, really need a break from the same recycled actors/ stories, etc. So in an attempt to break free from the mundane, I happened to chance across A-Plus. Written by Zanjabeel Asim Shah (Ek Nazar Meri Taraf), produced by Sadia Jabbar (Mera Naam Yusuf Hai) and directed by Shahzad Rafique, Yeh Mera Deewanapan Hai has all the ingredients that make it worthy of cringe- watching.

imageimageYMDH is essentially the story of a miserable, confused lad, Jahangir / Jaani (Junaid Khan) who grew up in a hostile home with a habitually abusive father who constantly taunts his wife and bullies his son. DR. Nafeesuddin (Javed Sheikh) is a man who’s been married for over two decades but still fantasizes about his ex fiancée. He succumbed to pressure and married a plain Jane at his sister’s insistence but never accepted his wife Atiya (Irsa Ghazal) as an equal. Atiya is basically the desi aunty equivalent of Cinderella who has to put up with not one but two dominating nands. The elder one is a spinster who has clearly watched one too many sermons of Altaf Bhai in a drunken stupor- Anita Camphor is such a dead-ringer for MQMs infallible leader, you’d think you were seeing his ghost. The younger one, Rakshanda is an actress who’s under the mistaken impression that she is auditioning for a Star Plus 700+ episode soap.

From a young age, Jaani has witnessed his father’s fixation with beauty. Enter Mehtaab (Saima), a divorced nurse who takes shelter in their home and Jaani instantly develops a crush on the much older woman. Time goes by but nothing changes- Cinders continues making rotis while koosing her kismat; Altaf Behen continues her reign of terror; Dr Sahab continues expressing his disgust; Rakshanda and her twin daughters and nikamma husband continue getting a solid 10 minutes of screen time for no real reason and Mehtaab piles on the make-up and her signature red lipstick… A now twenty something Jaani thinks he’s old enough to be a man. Before Jaani has had a chance to express his feelings to Mehtaab, his Daddy Cool has decided that he needs a beautiful woman in his life and proposes to Mehtaab.

Just as I gave in to the inevitable dosri biwi cliche, I was pleasantly surprised that they dodged that bullet and Metaab not only rejects Dr. Doofus, she tries to show him how cruel and heartless he is for taking his dil se khoobsurat wife for granted. Jaani is elated with this rejection and with renewed confidence seeks Mehtaab’s help in giving his mom a much needed makeover. The surkhi powder plan is sheer genius and is almost certain to succeed ( so why did it take twenty odd years? Don’t ask me, I’m just a regular viewer). Unfortunately, the evil sisters are around to ensure their brother doesn’t fall prey to the surkhi powder: Evil sisters 967453786, Cinders/ Jaani 0. With the odds stacked against them, Jaani finally has an outburst that lasts 93 seconds but has enough punch to turn his father around. Nafeesuddin is a completely changed man so much so that you’d think you’re losing your mind!

The new and improved Nafeesuddin 2.0 is quite the upgrade. Complete with romantic gestures, Nafeesuddin points out to his sisters that he’s the man of the house and his wife is his queen. His previously awaara son is now his pride and joy. As expected, his sisters huff and puff and try to destroy his happiness in order to retain control… That’s about as far as I’ve gotten with my cringe- watching. I’ve never had the good fortune of watching Saima before except for a promo of “Aap ki Kaneez” so at the very least I can say it’s a change from everyday actors. The background score and OST coupled with those trademark dil dhehlaaney Waley sound effects remind me of the catastrophic Adhura Milan– a train wreck in its own right!

I’m really curious to know- is anyone watching this? What do you make of this? Anyone out there bold enough to hazard a guess over what comes next???

Ye Dil Mera’s last episode – Pros and Cons

The super hit thriller pakistani TV play Ye Dil Mera, starring Ahad Raza Mir and Sajal Ali (#Sahad) has just come to an end. But there are a few errors the writer must have missed and many annoying factors the viewers did not appreciate.

#1: No mention of Sahira

Sahira Arif waas Meer Farooq Zaman’s second secret wife who lived in Karachi. No one knew about her except Ali Baksh, who kept it hidden. Noor ul Ain should have found out about her dad’s secret wife, not just kept away from all of Meer Farooq’s secrets. Amaan never bothered to show Noor ul Ain the nikkah papers as well, so what was the point of asking sahira for them? This was a really important secret that wasn’t unfolded.

#2: Easy death for Meer Farooq

Meer Farooq Zaman has done many sins in his life: From murdering Amaan’s family to murdering Sahira and Nilofer, Meer Farooq has proved himself a cruel and heartless person. But he dies an easy death, really?

Farooq’s sins should have been known to the media and he should have been sent to jail. Or if not that, thenhe should have committed suicide becaus ehe cant bear that his beloved daughter hates him so much. Farhat Ishtiaq could have been more violent with the punishment but she chose to keep it mild.

#3: 7 minute recap + Flashbacks

Look Like there really wasn’t much of the last episode to watch. It started with a seven minute long recap to show the previous journey. And showed many flashbacks of Farooq and Noor ul Ain’s great moments together. We could have done without the flashbacks after watching such a long recap.

The last two episodes could have easily been put into one, giving the readers a treat of a 1 hour long last episode.

#4: Farhana Drama

Farhana is Aina’s aunt who is trying to find out how her sister died after getting suspicious during her visit to Pakistan. She wasn’t shown much in the last episode. 1 month after all the drama occurred, Farhana went back to Pakistan? Why? She should have stayed with her “behen ki akhri nishani” I don’t like how she went back to America because she should have stayed with her niece during the time she needed her the most. How could she go back to America? Farhana Khala need to take lessons on how to be a good aunt cause she clearly ain’t one.

#5: Dubbing Fiasco

Amaan and Noor ul Ain’s scene in Daryabagh was shot poorly. You could clearly tell most of Amaan’s dialogues were dubbed. The editing was not very good as well, which ruined the scene for me.

#6: Missed scene

in the promo for the last episode, there is a scene shown of Amaan talking to Aina. Amaan said: “Daryabagh se Daryabagh tak ka safar khatam hua.” This dialogue was cut from the scene and this isn’t the first time a scene was cut in this serial, which is very disappointing.

#7: Sad Ending

Many people were looking forward to the last episode of Ye Dil Mera for the happy end of Aina and Amaan, especially after getting Yakeen Ka Safar vibes from the hospital scene in the promo. Sadly their happy end did not happen and many people were upset. (even me)
Farhat Ishtiaq should have given Amaan and Noor ul Ain the happy end they deserve after all they’ve been through.

Overall, Ye Dil Mera was an entertaining thriller TV show. Farhat Ishtiaq strikes again with another amazing serial. Adnan Siddiqui definitely nailed it as the Evil Meer Farooq. Sajal Ali is brilliant as always with her acting skills. Ahad Raza Mir gave an unforgettable performance as Amaanullah with his killer expressions.

Ye Dil Mera Story Review Episode 25 – The Reactions

Ohkay so, this was a slower episode of Ye Dil Mera. As much as I do understand that not every episode can be happening but this one definitely had me checking out how much time was left for the episode to end because it seemed a little too slow with repetitive conversations pretty much. All the things they covered in this episode were definitely necessary but it lacked the impact & the eagerness that Meer Farooq should’ve shown after he started learning more about Amaanullah. All the reactions seemed subdued, however the only actor that stayed true to the essence of his character was Ahad Raza Mir.

The Reactions

Meer Farooq found out more about Amaan. It is worth noting that all the details that he should’ve found out about Amaan before he handed over his daughter to a complete stranger were now coming to his notice. However, it does happen, people do make mistakes but considering that Meer Farooq was such a possessive father, this kind of relaxation from him does not make much sense. The writer should have added a little more detailing & depth in this situation because she took a lot of time in establishing what Ana meant to Meer Farooq. Even after Ana’s marriage, Meer Farooq distanced himself & the entire father daughter relationship that used to be so strong went down to the drain.

Ana decided to go to Daryabagh to prove to Amaan that her father is innocent? I really didn’t understand Ana’s plan right from the beginning & when I saw her locking & isolating herself in a room made me question her even more. How exactly is Ana going to prove her father’s innocence sitting in the woods & what exactly is she going to do to find the missing pieces of the puzzle? While watching this episode, it also made me wonder why have Ana’s dreams stopped recurring? That used to be a very important part of her life which also shaped her personality, so it would’ve been much better if the writer had shown it sporadically as the story progressed because Ana did find solace in Amaan, but after she got married, he didn’t turn out to be as ideal as she imagined him to be, so she had all the more reasons to be scared & get triggered.

Ye Dil Mera Story Review Episode 25 - The Reactions

Amaan openly threatened Meer Farooq, however the entire scene made me wonder about the time difference between Islamabad & Daryabagh because when it was dark probably past 8PM in Daryabagh, it was a bright sunny day in Islamabad & that time of the hour where Meer Farooq actually tried to get in touch with the police to seek help in finding Ana. I am sure they are saving it for the last but why hasn’t Meer Farooq been able to connect the dots & why hasn’t Amaanullah’s full name rang the bell for him just yet? Also, Meer Farooq must’ve heard from Ana about her visit to Daryabagh, so why didn’t it ring the alarm for Meer Farooq? The execution & the progress of the story has become a little slow with a bit of loose ends which definitely need some tying up at this stage.

Amaan continued to show his affection for Ana. It’s true that all the emotions & feelings that Amaan felt for Ana were true & heartfelt. He didn’t want to, but he actually fell in love with her but he is also faced with a difficult situation where despite wanting to, he can not make Ana believe the fact that he genuinely loved her. For Ana, it is obviously not going to be easy to put his allegations aside & see his honesty & sincerity but maybe after she will learn the truth about Meer Farooq, she will be able to see him for who he is & will understand that Amaan had his reasons!

Next Episode Please

This episode of Ye Dil Mera was slow. The preview seemed interesting but it still feels there are going to be a few more repetitive conversations. Ana might start picking up the pieces, but I wonder now when Amaan has told her the biggest secret about her father, why is he not helping her in recalling those memories. In the previous episode, he did speak about being friends with her in childhood but all the things he said prior were enough to rattle her & she obviously must not be paying attention, therefore Amaan should help Ana in connecting the dots. On a side note, I wonder how many conversations of Ana & Amaan have revolved around Amaan offering Ana food & telling her to have breakfast, lunch & dinner. Yes, they have used it to show how considerate he always is, but there are a lot more things which they could’ve used to show him as a doting husband. All the conversations related to food & meals have now starting to seem very repetitive & I am sure every episode has at least a couple of conversations related to this subject! Anyways, Ahad Raza Mir’s performance was brilliant throughout the episode, however Adnan Siddique could’ve done better. He has put in a lot of effort for sure, but the energy required to portray the emotions of Meer Farooq seems to be missing. Paras Masroor on the other hand has done a good job as a concerned Ali Baksh. I totally understand that many viewers must’ve felt differently about this episode & it may have worked for them, which is perfectly fine. Ye Dil Mera Last Episode – Story Review

Ohkay so, this episode marked the ending of Ye Dil Mera. Although this episode was durated for 36 minutes, the recap took around 7 minutes, which showed that they did not have a lot of scenarios left to cover. The rest of the episode was also filled with all the flashbacks that the viewers had already seen in the 7 minute recap, therefore they could’ve easily been skipped. Anyhow, as this episode progressed, it was obvious that the drama makers wanted to shift an entire focus on Ana & Amaan, that too after all that they had been through which ended up looking justified. Ye Dil Mera got an open ending & in any case the viewers will be more than happy to imagine that one day, Ana will go back to Amaan & start afresh.

Meer Farooq Zaman Died An Easy Death

The last episode of Ye Dil Mera had some positives as well as some negatives. The biggest flaw definitely has to be the death of Meer Farooq Zaman, which he chose for himself? What about all those who were waiting for the justice to be served? This was definitely an easier option that the writer opted for & did not put an effort into showing him facing the court & getting exposed in front of everyone considering how he was a renowned businessman of the country. Meer Farooq Zaman continued to commit crimes in secrecy & got lucky enough to choose to die in secrecy as well? This is definitely not the end of his character that I agree with.

Ye Dil Mera Last Episode - Story Review

This is an unconvincing approach that our drama-makers usually have when it comes to dealing with such issues, where killing a character or showing him losing his sanity are the only & two easiest options that are practiced. It is understandable that for Meer Farooq Zaman, he died the moment he got exposed in front of his daughter but that does not do any favors to the lives that were destroyed because of his selfishness. Ali Baksh too got an easy death & did not have to worry about accountability. Yes, the drama-makers can argue that Meer Farooq Zaman in reality was a coward who did not have the courage to take responsibility for the crimes he had committed but I will definitely say that they could’ve set a good precedent by showing that coward or not, psychopath or not; he along with Ali Baksh got punished by the law because they deserved it!

Ana & Amaan

The rest of the episode focused on a few scenes that were shot covering how Ana & Amaan moved on in their lives. Amaan realized that even though Meer Farooq Zaman was done with, he was unhappy because he could see how it had caused irreparable damage to Ana. To be honest, while watching this episode, I waited for Amaan to actually show it to Ana how sincere & eager he was but after she woke up, he was being his usual self; stern & distant, informing her of her father’s death coldly. That was definitely the time for him to show Ana his emotions to soften her heart towards him & more than him, it was Ana who deserved it after all that she went through. There was absolutely no one in Ana’s life who would now console her, so Amaan should’ve done that for her.

Ana’s decision of doing charity & building a school & hospital in Daryabagh came as a pleasant surprise, but what I really liked were the reasons which she explained to Nargis Bua. At least Ana does realize that her father had caused a lot of damage to a lot of people. I also feel she deserved to know about the ex-employee Humayun(?) as well as Sahira who were killed on Meer Farooq’s orders.

Ye Dil Mera Last Episode - Story Review

The scene of Ana & Amaan shot in Daryabagh was poorly executed. It was obvious that they had dubbed those dialogues & different shots were prolonged to compile it into a scene. These executional flaws & glitches have compromised heavily upon the quality of this drama & the impact it could’ve made. Anyways, Amaan continued to show his sincerity to Ana by repeatedly approaching her but Ana had a bigger picture in mind & Amaan at this point in time was not in it. She did however say that she will continue to cherish & value the relationship she has with her husband, which made it sound like Amaan still stood a chance.

The disclaimer in the end in the director’s voice made it look like Amaan was wrong in his pursuit of revenge, another thing which I do not agree with. Amaan never wanted to kill Meer Farooq Zaman, he never took law in his hands or did something absolutely out of the blue. Amaan always stayed in his limits & was dignified in approaching his enemy to bring him down. The drama makers did try to end it on a moral preaching that it is wrong when people try to intervene in destiny’s plan & end up losing everything because forgiving is always better than taking revenge. If this entire note is taken seriously, it will undermine Amaan’s PTSD, it will also make Amaan look like a culprit who could not forgive.

Amaan was totally justified in taking revenge because he never once wanted to murder Meer Farooq Zaman, all he ever wanted was for him to get exposed in front of the entire world as well as his daughter Ana, so that everyone would know who he truly is; a murderer & a criminal. This sort of disclaimer at the end of this story was absolutely not needed because it defeats the purpose of Amaan’s journey & the trauma that he went through after witnessing his family being brutally murdered in front of his eyes. Amaan on his own was right in feeling the void & emptiness but it was solely because Ana was not a part of his life anymore, not because he regretted avenging his family’s murder. They should’ve left it at that without giving it another angle such as forgiving is better than seeking revenge, which in this case was not because Amaan never contemplated killing Meer Farooq Zaman.

The End

This episode had its good & not so good moments. The overall execution could have been better. The aerial shots at the end of the episode were nice. I was definitely looking for some Ana-Amaan moments, hoping they will come together, pick up the pieces & help each other in moving past this nightmare but that was put on hold for some other day. The open ending is definitely not an issue here but the two things that made the ending unsatisfactory are the death of Meer Farooq Zaman & disclaimer about Amaan being wrong in his approach.

Ahad Raza Mir & Sajal Aly should be very proud of themselves for giving such phenomenal performances in Ye Dil Mera. They definitely were the saving grace of this drama. Ahad Raza Mir especially was in his element throughout & gave Amaanullah’s character a very convincing treatment, especially his minute expressions & sudden change of mood throughout was a wholesome journey to witness in itself. Sajal Aly is a finest actor of Pakistani drama industry. The acting she displayed in the previous two episodes left everyone in an awe of her talent. The casting directors were lucky to have Ahad & Sajal on board for this project because if it wasn’t for them, Ye Dil Mera wouldn’t have been what it is.

Farhat Ishtiyaq did her best but a lot of things could’ve been skipped & added to make this drama even better. Ahsan Talish is an intelligent director but it is too obvious that execution of this drama was not as good as it should’ve been. Different storyline definitely played a huge part in its popularity. Adnan Siddique, Mira Sethi, Zarnish Khan & Paras Masroor also played their part really well & supported the best way they could. Naima Khan was good as Nargis Bua as well. I will thank all the lovely readers for keeping the discussions on Ye Dil Mera’s thread alive, it was always a pleasure discussing every minute detail of this drama with you guys. Ye Dil Mera Episode 32 Story Review – Award-winning Performance of Sajal Aly

Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera belonged to Sajal Aly. Pakistani drama industry is filled with immensely talented actors but it is definitely a rarity where the audience are spellbound with such phenomenal performances that sends shivers down their spine – Sajal Aly in this episode did exactly that. While watching those few particular scenes where Ana recalled everything & then confronted her father, it was impossible to look away from the screen even for a second. Sajal Aly should take a bow for this award-winning performance in this episode of Ye Dil Mera tonight!

This Episode Belonged To Sajal Aly

After ignoring the character of Ana for so long, it was definitely a good decision by the writer & the director to dedicate these two episodes to her. She was the one whose life depended on unveiling the truth, therefore she required the coverage & the time she got. What added more to it was the stellar performance given by Sajal Aly for sure. In the preview last week, when I came across the scene of Ana happening to see her mother’s burial, I was actually unsure of how they were going to make it convincing but now everything did make sense. When Ali Baksh did not even bother taking Nilofer away from Ana to shoot her, it made complete sense that due to haste none of them bothered looking around whether Ana or anyone for that matter was looking at them or not. Ana was an eye-witness of everything & now in the similar setting without any heavy dosage of medication, it was very easy for her to recall everything from the past, however the course of which was definitely difficult for her, due to her living through those moments again!

Ye Dil Mera Episode 32 Story Review - Award-winning Performance of Sajal Aly

The scene where Ana actually puts her hand in the grave to pick up on the bangle gave me chills. No child in this world deserves to go through this & considering Ana remembered how loving her mother was, it was the worst thing that happened to her as Nilofer’s daughter. I am glad that throughout this entire episode, Sajal Aly’s performance was so strong that it overshadowed rather filtered all the filler characters as well as their weak performances & dialogues. I will however definitely say that Nargis Bua & Farhana yet again proved to be useless characters in this equation. When Ana came back from the train station & asked Nargis Bua a basic question such as who ordered Ali Baksh to shoot Nilofer, Farhana jumped in & tried to make it sound like Ana was being irrational asking about it? The girl has been through so much & the least you can do is at least bring her out of her misery. I honestly feel this was Nargis Bua’s chance of redemption but she wasted it. Yes, may be the drama-makers wanted Ana to hear it all from her father but seeing other characters not do their part to help Ana in some way was definitely uncalled for. I expected Nargis Bua or even Farhana after finding the truth to say something at least because they both got a lot of screen time previously, so it was important for them to say something to establish their value in this entire situation.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 32 Story Review - Award-winning Performance of Sajal Aly

The moment Amaan told Meer Farooq that Ana was in Summer House, he knew exactly what was going to happen – it showed him that Ana by now must’ve recollected all the memories & now was the time for him to answer her questions. Meer Farooq Zaman knew this was the time of his undoing & he won’t be able to dodge it. The entire scene with everyone surrounding Nilofer’s grave & Ana coercing her father to tell the truth was brilliant – probably one of the most powerful scenes of this entire drama. I felt relieved when Ana finally found out the truth & Meer Farooq confessed everything. She was right, her entire life has been a lie & the one feeding her those lies was none other than her father that she loved so much. Amaan knew his nightmare was over & now everything relied on Ana!

The Best Episode of Ye Dil Mera

This episode was definitely the best episode of Ye Dil Mera. The preview of the next episode suggested the new beginning as well the closure Amaan & even Ana will get from their past. It seems the drama makers are going to recreate the same love-confession scene similar to the last episode of Yakeen Ka Safar & I can foresee Sajal & Ahad’s fans being in for a treat – I am looking forward to that particular scene too because I totally believe they both deserve love & happiness. I do hope they don’t just give hints about what actually happened with Meer Farooq Zaman & in fact show him paying the definitive price for all the crimes that he has committed – same goes for Ali Baksh too.

It wouldn’t be an episode of Ye Dil Mera without some of the glitches & poorly conceived scenarios – first one being Meer Farooq asking Ali Baksh ‘kisi ko shaq to nahi hua’, while the boy shot Nilofer at the train station with minimum of 20 people around who witnessed it. Having lived for 6 years in Murree myself, I know how fast the news travels in such small towns, lol. Also, Amaan always drove around Darya Bagh in his 4WD, but now when he was about to go see Ana, he had a sedan? Not sure when his car changed.

Anyhow, Sajal Aly definitely deserves an award for this performance. At one point she made me say that because of this performance & display of acting skills, Sajal ne is drama ke sab directional gunnah maaf karwa diye. Well done Sajal Aly & also Adnan Siddique for portraying the helplessness of a father who loved his daughter with all his heart but knew his time was over & the facade he carried all these years had fallen off. The sass of Amaanullah even when he was hit by Meer Farooq Zaman is worth appreciation, Ahad Raza Mir has stayed true to the essence of this character throughout the drama. Ye Dil Mera Episode 31 Story Review – Anaaaaaaa

Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera did not take the story forward, however it showed everything through Ana’s perspective & in the end, she finally found out that she had witnessed her mother’s murder herself but her father made it look like it was a dream. The way things unfolded in this episode were intense but somewhat slow, but I guess by this time, the viewers should get used to the fact that Ye Dil Mera is slow-paced.

Anaaaaaa

Amaan welcomed Farhana Khala & Nargis Bua with a smile on his face. He had no idea that Nargis Bua must’ve told everything to Detective Farhana who eventually started to act like one as the episode progressed. The conversation that Amaan & Nargis Bua had was emotional & heart-touching, indeed Amaan has all the reasons to question why he was put through so much trauma of losing his family because of a psychopath like Meer Farooq Zaman.

Nargis Bua sympathizes with Amaan but seeing her pattern & behavior in general, it shows that she holds her ‘namak halali’ closer to her heart more than anything else; be it her beloved Ana or even seeing what Amaan has gone through. Even in the previous episode, while telling Farhana the entire story, Nargis Bua reiterated that it was her ‘namak halali’ which didn’t allow her to break her silence, while I kept on waiting to hear her say that she wanted to stay in Meer Farooq’s house because she was concerned for Ana & probably knew that after Nilofer, she had to be there for the child. The problem with the execution of Ye Dil Mera has been that all these basic yet important angles of the story have been left for the viewers to imagine & assume, whereas the drama-makers themselves, be it the writer or the director have focused on nominal rather unnecessary details, such as showing how Farhana khala was blotting her face while listening to the gruesome details of her sister’s murder!

Ye Dil Mera Episode 31 Story Review - Anaaaaaaa

Anaaaaaa

Ana got to meet Farhana Khala but it was only until she saw Nargis Bua that made her question how she knew about Daryabagh? Might as well have asked the same question to her Amreeka returned Khala who was the last person to know that a place like Daryabagh even existed. Honestly speaking, I felt like holding Nargis Bua & shaking her to the core so that she actually confessed that Meer Farooq was a murderer. Even when Anaaaa continued to ask her, all Nargis Bua could do was nod her head that too stiffly. Kya namak halali hai, wah bhai!

Ye Dil Mera Episode 31 Story Review - Anaaaaaaa

After that, Ana decided she had to go to Summer house to find the missing pieces of puzzle. Honestly speaking, as much as the entire scenario was executed nicely, all I could think while watching the pictures casually lying around the house was that a meticulous person like Meer Farooq had allowed everything to remain like that? Even if it wasn’t for him, wouldn’t he have told Ali Baksh to wipe off all the traces of Nilofer’s existence so that no one could get to her murder’s mystery walking through these clues? Yes, they did suggest that after Nilofer was murdered, they all left Daryabagh, never to be returned again but Meer Farooq had enough people to do this for him. What about all those servants who were locally hired to take care of the household chores, even they didn’t clean it all up & left it to be like that for the next 2 decades?

Anaaaaaa

Anyways, Ana’s memories were finally rekindled, she saw the pictures of her mother, remembered all the times she had spent with her parents in the summer house, even recalled jumping from the window & then the path which led her to the train station. The conundrum has been solved, Ana herself was the witness to her mother’s murder. Honestly speaking, I felt like pulling Ali Baksh’s moustache when I saw him kill another innocent soul so mercilessly, that too in front of a child. He could’ve captured Nilofer, taken her to some place & then killed her. It is bizarre that he even killed her in front of all those people who were present at the railway station, without batting an eyelid. Itni akhir kiss baat ki ai hui thi?

Anyhow, after so many years, Ana finally found all the answers to her questions, the dreams that she saw & the horrifying incident of seeing her mother getting shot in front of her eyes. This entire episode was only about Ana, she finding a way to the truth & then figuring out all the details. It was not about what she thought of Amaan, the possibility of her father being a murderer. It was nicely shown that for her, everything just stopped there & she was probably for the first time mourning the loss of her mother.

Anaaaaaaaa

Meer Farooq almost lost his senses. I totally feel this is not a punishment enough for him to just lose his senses & be miserable without even understanding what is happening to him & why. If that happens, Ye Dil Mera will be yet another drama which will have an unconvincing end because I surely expected better from Farhat Ishtiyaq. As a psychopath, he should continue to live in as much denial as he wants, with all the evidence against him which makes him pay the price & serve the time. Ali Baksh on the other hand will be handed over to the police for carrying out all the killings on Meer Farooq’s orders, but in reality, it is Meer Farooq who should go to jail, without losing his senses. I actually feel for Ali Baksh, poor soul will be all alone, the least he deserves is his Sahib’s company even in jail because he had no life other than being a loyal servant to his master. Saahibbbb!!!

So, this episode was interesting to watch but again was pretty slow. A few things that agitated me were the Amaan’s silence, he has an entire picture in his mind of what Anaaaa was feeling & going through, but he chose not to say anything to her. Yes, he felt for her & even knew that nothing he would say to Ana will make her forgive him but the least he could’ve done was answer the questions that over the time arose in her mind. Please don’t tell me that Detective Farhana travelled all the way from Amreeka to only come & boss around Nargis Bua & Abdur Rehman Baba, without even moving a muscle? Who actually appointed her as a detective or she just self-assigned it to her? Poor acting & poorer antics. Sajal Aly looked gorgeous in this episode & her acting was even better. Apologies for the late review, I assumed they were not going to air it due to Eid programs but was surprised when Anaaaa popped up on my YouTube feed. Enjoy!

Ye Dil Mera Episode 30 Story Review – Filler Episode Filled With Loud Music

Ohkay so, I will give credit where it’s due before talking about all the things that didn’t work for me. This episode indeed had a fraction of important scenes to its credit, however yet again, the story did not move forward & they showed all the things that the viewers have memorized by now. Nothing, absolutely nothing takes away the fact that both Ahad Raza Mir & Sajal Aly have given brilliant performances but honestly speaking, now at this stage of the drama, especially after watching this episode, I felt even their stellar performances were unable to salvage this drama which has completely turned out to be a drag. Although as much as I liked the two scenes of Amaan & Ana, I feel the director relied a lot on them to do the heavy-lifting & wow the viewers – & they did what was expected from them but when the story fails to move forward & everything is just stuck in a rut, nothing works.

Filler Episode Filled With Noise Pollution

The setting in which Bua continued to tell Farhana Khala all the gruesome details about Nilofer’s death was so off-putting. Please tell me where this happens on a way to northern areas, while sitting at a ‘khokha’ as they call it in their native language, two people get to talk about such confidential matters so openly. Plus, this is Pakistan that we’re talking about, I couldn’t really wrap my head around the fact that two ladies were crying their hearts out & no one bothered asking them what happened. We all know how courteous & concerned people usually are, so no one dared ask them what was happening or what they were going through.

Natasha Hussain was the biggest mistake the casting directors made because if the writer had something this important that Farhana was finally going to be a part of at this stage of her life & the drama, she should’ve been someone with some acting skills up her sleeves. As much as Naima Khan played her part well while talking about her guilt & regrets, the robotic & constipated (yes I said it) expressions of Natasha Hussain took away the impact this entire scene & confession deserved to make.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 30 Story Review - Filler Episode Filled With Loud Music

Once again, it remains to be seen whether they are going to actually show how Nilofer was shot & who pulled the trigger in the remaining episodes or they just got done with her end just like that because I actually had to rewind thrice to actually understand that I wasn’t missing on how she died. It was absolutely random where the cars just left & cut to the next scene, they had her corpse with Ali Baksh handing sleeping Ana to Nargis Bua. If they really wanted to show the train scene, now was the time but I guess they are going to leave it till the last episode where it will be Ana who will remember everything. Anyhow, going by how everything was shown in this episode, it seemed totally random & haphazard.

This also happened to be one of the loudest episodes of Ye Dil Mera in terms of the background music because I can still feel my ears ringing. Be it the scene where Nilofer was running away with Ana, or the scene with Amaan & Meer Farooq exchanging yet another empty threats, or with Ali Baksh & his goons searching for Nilofer & then finding her or Nargis Bua & Farhana Khala finally making it to Amaan’s cottage, the music was the loudest which was actually deafening!

Meer Farooq’s change of location is another interesting point to be noted. Not sure why he isn’t in his home anymore from the last few episodes. Obviously they shot these scenes in the lobby of one of the hotels they were shooting in the northern areas, but at least they should’ve made it believable or similar to his house by showing him in one of the rooms. All these factors actually take away the charm & end up being too distracting.

Ana decided to show to the viewers of Pakistani drama industry that she had this level of acting in her, hats off to Sajal Aly for such phenomenal performance but that’s all there’s to it. Sadly, the crux of it was just that one fine day, at the comfort of her cottage & after having a proper hair care & blow dry session, she realized that all the dreams that she saw were not mere dreams. How did actually Ana put the pieces of the puzzle together that Ana & Amaan’s mothers used to be friends? How did she reach this conclusion? Yes, it is good that they are showing that gradually she is regaining those memories from the past but how so especially when she has not once left her room & stumbled upon evidence waiting for her on the sidewalks of Daryabgah? From the last few episodes, Ana gets a scene or two which happens to be the randomest of all & then the writer expects the viewers to take her character seriously?

Ye Dil Mera Episode 30 Story Review - Filler Episode Filled With Loud Music

I so wanted Amaan to give her alllllllll the answers that she was looking for, but he just sat there stunned as if all the things she was saying were so new that even Amaan didn’t know how to respond? Amaan brought Ana to Daryabagh to remind her of all those memories, so now when she is picking up the pieces, instead of serving her with numerous glasses of water & countless cheese omlettes, he should just tell her the truth. Keeping her in the lurch only after telling her that her father is a murderer is  not making much sense anyways!

Some of the things were made clear that the letter that Nilofer wrote to her father was posted by Nargis Bua after her death & then he kept it a secret from the rest of his family members, this is why Farhana never really knew what went wrong & she didn’t have much reason to hold Meer Farooq accountable for Nilofer’s death for so many years. It was until she visited Pakistan for Ana’s wedding when she started to sense something plus Amaan continued to steer her thoughts & forced her to think about the mystery surrounding Nilofer’s death.

Drag

This episode was a filler & it is sad how long they have stretched this drama. Farhat Ishtiyaq is an experienced writer, therefore it is unfortunate to see that she couldn’t foresee what might go wrong if she didn’t contain the script within limited number of episodes. When it comes to dramas like Yakeen Ka Safar, they do have a margin to stretch & prolong but with thrillers like these, this sort of treatment is a no no but sadly, this is what Ye Dil Mera has come down to.

It seems next week we’ll have to tune in to see how far & fast can Ana run because once again, she will behave irrationally even after finding out the truth that eventually made it to her without even moving a muscle. Also, the exchange of expressions between Amaan, Farhana Khala & Nargis Bua in the last scene was so cold & unconvincing it was as if Amaan wasn’t even shocked to see them & Farhana Khala was giving him a side-eye saying jante ho mai kaun hoon? Looks like Meer Farooq is going to lose his sanity, hmmm let’s just hope the writer does not opt for the easy way out & actually shows him staying sane & paying the price for what he did, that too legally along with Sahib Ali Baksh. I absolutely understand this episode might’ve worked for a lot of viewers, but it just didn’t work for me. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 29 Story Review – A Hit & A Miss

Ohkay so, this was a hit & a miss episode of Ye Dil Mera. Where some of the scenes were good, the other failed to leave an impact. Half the time, this episode covered what the viewers already know & have memorized. The only new or unseen scenes were very few like Amaan’s interactions with Abdur Rehman Baba & later showing how the argument between Nilofer Baji & Meer Farooq escalated.

The Quest Continues

Ana’s dreams are back but more than that, her memory is shaken & now she is finding herself being reminded of a few bits & bobs from her childhood, which included memories of her mother Nilofer. Ana is now trying to analyze things on her & trying to make sense of what she is seeing & is being reminded of. This episode didn’t show Ana much but for now, it was still a decent approach of the director to suggest that she on her own was also battling with her inner struggles as well.

Amaan got in touch with Abdur Rehman Baba. Their conversations suggested that he left Daryabagh after the accident but Amaan found him out. The best part about their scenes was the usage of the native language, plus the actor playing the role of Abdur Rehman Baba has this flow to it that it feels nice listening to it, but it was sad that even his dialogues were few & repetitive. Farhat Ishtiyaq is known for writing some brilliant and meaningful dialogues but this definitely is not the case with Ye Dil Mera. Yes, the conversations of this drama couldn’t be too philosophical but it also didn’t deserve these kinds of plain & simple dialogues which are repetitive as well!

Meer Farooq continued to search for Ana but he couldn’t. Ali Baksh was also doing everything to find his “SAAHIB’s” daughter but he was failing miserably. It is now turning out to be a little unconvincing that none of them bothered replying back to Nargis Bua’s calls. They should’ve given her a chance thinking maybe she knows something or if Ana must’ve contacted her but they didn’t. Even if Nargis Bua hadn’t called them, the first person Ali Baksh or Meer Farooq should’ve called was Nargis Bua.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 29 Story Review - A Hit & A Miss

Nargis Bua & Detective Farhana started off their Mission Rescue Ana, but on the way to Daryabagh & after wasting a lot of kilometers, they discussed some details & finally, to much relief of the viewers Nargis Bua spilled the beans on how Meer Farooq killed Amaan’s family. It didn’t take Detective Farhana to figure out that Amaan had something against Meer Farooq even before Nargis Bua told her the truth because she ended up believing that Amaan was capable of harming Ana & he was doing all of this for a reason, but it is good that she now knows. Detective Farhana already was not much pleased with Meer Farooq & now she has all the more reason to despise him because she knows that he is a criminal. The rest of the episode was filled with flashbacks, which definitely could’ve been avoided.

The last few scenes of the episode were intense with Nilofer calling Meer Farooq out & telling him that she was going to do everything to expose him. Once again, some great performances there. Every step of the way, you feel for Nilofer because no wife deserves a psychopath like Meer Farooq Zaman. Amaan also has a plan & he ended up sharing it with Abdur Rehman. Now that he has spoken about him dying, I think this is the only plausible closure his character will get. He has spent his entire life suffering from PTSD & coming up with a plan of destroying Meer Farooq & after when he’s done, as much as I would like to see that happening, maybe it won’t be possible for Amaan to lead a normal life. The only ray of hope for his character happens to be the unconditional love for Ana that she may bring him out of his misery but after she will find out what her father has done in the past with Amaan’s family as well as her own mother, she herself will go into depression. Let’s see what happens.

Ye Dil Mera Should’ve Ended By Now

It is unfortunate that Ye Dil Mera still has not ended. Even if they wanted the drama to be long, 30 episodes were enough but it is kind of upsetting that there are still so many episodes left. The next one will uncover a few more details of the night when Nilofer tried to run away with Ana, those scenes will definitely be quite intense. Another week, another opportunity wasted for Ana to grow mentally, but it is interesting that despite her world turning upside down, her styling is on-point & she looks stunning. Detective Farhana continues to underperform & even when she found out such a shocking truth, her reaction was cold, maybe the temperatures of Daryabagh were already getting to her. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 28 Story Review – Amaanullah’s Re-Introduction

Ohkay so, this was quite an intense episode of Ye Dil Mera. Finally, it is that stage of the story where everything is falling in its place but is being revealed at the right time. In this episode in particular, I felt I enjoy the to & fro between the past & the present. Now when we all know that the drama is about to end with only a few episodes left, it is coming out as a proper approach of the director to unveil everything slowly. Yes, there is no denying to the fact that this drama actually could’ve ended without the filler episodes & unnecessary prolonging but at this moment, it feels that every episode till it ends is going to be a good one. Oh, did you all know Farhana Khala could sense that Ali Baksh will do everything in his might to stop an interaction between her & Nargis Bua?

Farhana Khala Knew Ali Baksh Would Sever Her Ties With Nargis Bua

The surprising part of this episode was the scene where suddenly Nargis Bua & Farhana Khala came together out of nowhere. I think they should’ve at least shown a scene where they had spoken to each other with Farhana telling Nargis Bua that she is coming to Pakistan from Amreeeeeeeeekkkkka. The way their timings matched seemed more like a coincidence & felt out of the blue. Nargis Bua herself was on her way to Islamabad from Sukkhur, so they shouldn’t have shown that she met Farhana Khala just like that. Later it was figurable that Nargis Bua went to the airport to pick Farhana Khala up & then she wanted to go see Meer Farooq to tell him everything about Ana. Farhana Khala’s dialogues were so repetitive that I actually lost count of how many times she discussed that Ali Baksh or even Meer Farooq would make sure Nargis Bua doesn’t stay in touch with Farhana.

Nargis Bua also had some repetitive dialogues up her sleeves. She actually told Farhana about Ana being in trouble. Once again, Nargis Bua is doubting Amaan without even giving any sort of consideration to the fact that Amaan is entitled to avenge his family’s murder because Meer Farooq is the murderer. However, it is understandable that at this stage she is only concerned about Ana’s well being because she thinks Amaan is going to stoop to Meer Farooq’s level & harm Ana.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 28 Story Review - Amaanullah's Re-Introduction

Amaan finally confessed that was in his heart for Ana. He wanted her to have clarity about his intentions while still bearing in mind that he is not lying about Meer Farooq & is going to do everything to destroy him. Ana’s situation is perplexing but still, it is unfortunate that even at this stage of the story, she has not shown any mental growth. Even after a few episodes, I am still figuring out how she is going to prove her father’s innocence with her nose as red as a pinocchio & while being disconnected with the rest of the world. It is not like the evidence of Meer Farooq’s innocence is going to fall from the tree in her lap & she gets to marofy it to Amaan’s muh – another repetitive dialogue of the entire drama. Ana still thinks her father is going to rescue her & protect her, however she should’ve dwelled more into the thoughts that ran through her mind after she had a dream & recalled everything Meer Farooq used to say to her to make her forget what she saw – basically lying to her & telling her what she saw had nothing to do with the reality. A little reminder: Farhana Khala knew Ali Baksh or even Meer Farooq would severe her ties with Nargis Bua if they found out.

Amaan got ahead with another plan of his to bring Meer Farooq down. This was probably the last thing he had against Meer Farooq before revealing his real identity. The testimony of Mrs. Humayun was enough to shake Meer Farooq further. He was already finding it hard to deal with the fact that Ana was missing & now on top of that, Amaan played his cards well. This is the sheer mental & emotional torture that Amaan must’ve been planning for ages & with Meer Farooq committing yet another henious crime of framing his employee, Amaan must’ve gotten a hold of all the details to use it to his advantage. Also, did you know Farhana Khala was scared & made sure to let Nargis Bua know that Ali Baksh & Meer Farooq were not going to allow them to be in touch?

The Highlight of The Episode

Amaan appeared out of nowhere in front of Meer Farooq to re-introduce himself. That scene was definitely the highlight & one of the best scenes of the entire drama. Ahad Raza Mir & Adnan Siddique both were phenomenal in that scene. Amaan knew what he was saying while making sure that Meer Farooq understood each & every word of his. He was clear & loud so that Meer Farooq doesn’t misconstrue or assume what he was hearing wasn’t the truth. Meer Farooq now understood that Amaan has his reasons & he, in no way is going to backtrack. He has started the war & he is going to make sure he sees the end of it. Meer Farooq didn’t even beat around the bush & told Ali Baksh everything because they both knew that Amaan was Mani & the names he mentioned were of those who were the victims of their mercilessness & brutality.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 28 Story Review - Amaanullah's Re-Introduction

The episode surprisingly took another exciting turn when Nargis Bua connected the dots & figured out that Amaan must’ve taken Ana to Daryabagh. Nargis Bua also knows that Daryabagh’s the place that both Amaan & Ana have in common, therefore she knew her instinct couldn’t be wrong. It is anyways good that Farhana Khala is going to be with Nargis Bua. It will also give her some support in dire times like these because being a vulnerable old lady, she would’ve never gotten to Ana on her own. It is like history is repeating itself where Nargis Bua was always with Nilofer Baji & now she is with Farhana Khala. At first Nargis Bua didn’t believe in sharing the secret but now when she will get to spend time with Farhana Khala, she will obviously be reminded of Nilofer’s misfortune & she will eventually end up telling her all the secrets because Nargis Bua will see the sincerity & eagerness in Farhana to know about her sister’s death.

Final Thoughts

This episode of Ye Dil Mera has perfectly set the tone of the closure this drama is going to get. Now all there’s left for the viewers to know is how actually Nilofer died & the actual scenario which Ana keeps on seeing through her dreams. Sajal Aly definitely has performed to her full potential as Ana, she has even made some of the emotional scenes memorable because of her phenomenal acting, however when it comes to the character of Ana, it remains unimpressive. Yes, she has been raised in such an over-protective environment but after being married to Amaan, she should’ve shown some growth. Her character needed some evolving which didn’t happen & probably wouldn’t even matter at this stage of the drama because now it is purely about Amaanullah & Meer Farooq. Ahad Raza Mir & Adnan Siddique were flawless in their portrayal & display of emotions in tonight’s episode. Good to see Abdur Rehman Baba will be making an entry in the next episode as well. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

ps: Did you know Farhana Khala’s biggest fear was not being able to stay in touch with Nargis Bua because of Ali Baksh or Meer Farooq?

Ye Dil Mera Episode 27 Story Review – Intense Episode

Oh wow, this was one intense episode of Ye Dil Mera. Before getting into the rest of the details, I will straight away say that Mira Sethi should be super proud of herself for giving this level of performance. Every step of the way, she made me feel Nilofer’s pain & the mental & emotional turmoil that she was going through. Mira Sethi has appeared in a lot of dramas but this is the first time she has actually wowed with her performance. The director usually is given credit for the flaws but this time around, he definitely deserves a credit for extracting this sort of acting from Mira Sethi.

Nargis Bua’s One Sided Approach & Nilofer’s Turmoil

The viewers now got an insight into the past through Nargis Bua’s perspective. She seemed eager to get in touch with Meer Farooq because she wants to save Ana. There was an ambiguity regarding her intentions, however the preview of the next episode proved that despite knowing the truth, she still thinks Amaan is the culprit who is going to harm Ana. Maybe all these years, Nargis Bua has brainfed herself to see the goodness in Meer Farooq, especially after seeing what a doting father he turned out to be after Nilo’s death, this is why she thinks Ana is better off staying with her criminal father than Amaan, who she assumes is capable of hurting Ana. Nargis Bua will get her answers later as well obviously but right now, she should be thinking more rationally. It can also be considered that Ana’s call has forced Nargis Bua to see one side of the picture & because she could hear how upset Ana was at Amaan, she thinks he has hurt her or is going to do so.

Nargis Bua reminisced about the day when they found out about Humera’s car accident & the events that followed. Nargis Bua firsthand saw the toll it took on Nilofer. She was trying to figure things out on how she should approach her husband Meer Farooq after all that she heard from Humera & before she could do anything to help her friend, she got the news of her demise. The way both Nargis Bua & Nilofer broke down after getting to know about Humera’s accident was so heart wrenching. The emotions they portrayed were realistic & heartfelt. Nilofer already started feeling alone, she had no one to turn to – the husband she trusted was not trustworthy & the only friend she had was now no more.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 27 Story Review - Intense Episode

Meer Farooq’s aloofness was already something that Nilofer couldn’t wrap her head around. I really want to know what was the paper that she saw in one of the pockets of Meer Farooq’s jacket though? Anyways, Nilofer ended up hearing the discussion that happened between Ali Baksh & Meer Farooq & she knew that was it. It didn’t take her much longer to even doubt all of what she was hearing couldn’t be true because Humera had already told Nilofer about the harm that Meer Farooq could cause to her family & now that had finally happened. I definitely liked seeing Nilofer’s perspective & how she mourned the loss of her friend as well as dealing with the pain of her husband’s disloyalty.

So, Meer Farooq & Nilofer ended up confronting each other. The psychopath that Meer Farooq is, the easiest thing he could do was to assault his wife trying to suppress her emotions by intimidating her. Nilofer did seem adamant to not stay quiet. She even wrote a letter to her father, but it’s yet to be seen whether Nargis Bua posted it or not. Maybe after Meer Farooq killed Nilofer, he got rid of all the evidence that could lead anyone to him & that letter being one of the things that were destroyed.

Ana & Amaan

Coming to Ana & Amaan, finally Ana’s dreams are back. The memories got triggered after she visited her childhood cottage in Daryabagh. The dream this time was more clear & she could figure out the entire scene that was happening; a woman packing her bags & running away with her child, going to the train station trying to escape but in the end getting shot. When Amaan came to calm Ana down, she was immediately reminded of the pep-talks Meer Farooq used to give to her whenever she spoke about her dreams & told him what she saw. At that particular moment, Ana could actually connect the dots & could feel that the dream that she is seeing is not a vision from the future but rather her past that she has experienced, therefore she immediately stopped herself from dwelling into the details because it was going to confirm her worst fears.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 27 Story Review - Intense Episode

Ana relying on Allah & asking Him for guidance was one of the best moments of this episode. She has been trying to find the answers all her life & now when she was finally starting to see some sort of clarity, she decided to seek Allah’s help to ask for more clarity. Amaan’s feelings were conveyed brilliantly as well. He hates seeing his wife, the love of his life in pain & he knows that everything that he has said has put Ana in an awkward position but still he feels for her because he knows the truth & is very much aware of how Meer Farooq took away Ana’s mother from her too.

Intense Episode

This was one intense episode of Ye Dil Mera. As I have said it earlier, I will say it again, Mira Sethi should take a bow for this performance. Her body language, dialogue delivery, all the expressions showcasing Nilofer’s emotions were on-point. Adnan Siddique had very limited scenes but even in those, he was right in his element & delivered a brilliant performance. Sajal Aly & Ahad Raza Mir have done complete justice to these characters as well. Naima Khan has given a brilliant performance as Nargis Bua as well. Another thing that I noticed was Mira Sethi is a lefty, I don’t know why but I find it very fascinating so it was an interesting thing to pick. The background music, editing & everything in this episode of Ye Dil Mera worked. It seems the next episode will be half interesting & half of it will cover Ana’s repetitive dialogues & the other half will be dedicated to Farhana Khala’s slow-mo dialogue delivery. Let’s hope things are put into perspective soon. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 26 Story Review – Filler Episode

Ohkay so, this was yet another filler episode of Ye Dil Mera with flashbacks & repetitive scenes all over it. However, I will definitely say that the preview of the next episode had me sighing in relief because the story will not only move forward but the much needed truth will be revealed because it’s about time. Stories like Ye Dil Mera require precision when it comes to timing but unfortunately, our drama-makers tend to take things slow & end up killing the charm & the impact of the story which is required to keep the interest alive. This episode definitely had amazing acting done by both Ahad Raza Mir & Sajal Aly, props to them for sure however, at this point, what’s more important is that the drama is wrapped up & not dragged more than it is already!

The Only Development

The most important development in this episode was Ana’s call to Nargis Bua. It obviously didn’t take a second for Nargis Bua to connect the dots & realize that the boy Mani she once knew is now Ana’s husband Amaan. The entire scene where Nargis Bua ended up analyzing how Amaan was always very vigilant & keen everytime he interacted with her was nice, it showed that she was now understanding why Amaan behaved a certain way with her. The only person alive who Amaan has fond memories of is Nargis Bua, therefore it is left to be seen whether she will reciprocate those feelings or she will continue to show her loyalty to Meer Farooq, whom she very much knows is guilty of the allegations coming from Amaan.

Ana’s Character Has Zero Growth

Since the beginning of the drama, I have been eagerly waiting for Ana’s character to evolve & show some growth but even after 26 episodes, that is yet to be seen. It is unfortunate that Ana’s character has not been etched out intelligently enough. She continues to be in some lala land, even when she found out that her husband had some psychological issues & even now when her husband has clearly told her that her father has murdered his family. Ana’s stroll around Daryabagh was her way of finding the evidence needed to prove her father’s innocence? I never once heard Amaan telling her that she will find the answers in Daryabagh but out of nowhere, Ana told Amaan that she was going out to do her part of the research. It is unfortunate but Ana’s character is not as convincing or well-thought out as Amaan’s. The writer has left no margin for error when it comes to Amaan but the rest of the characters seem to have been dealt as an afterthought, especially after seeing their behavioral patterns for so many weeks.

Ana came across her parents’ home. She could recollect some memories & realized that the house seemed familiar. She was unable to figure it all out but she knew there was something about that place which struck a chord. The good thing that I got to see in this episode was that Ana started asking questions & not just any questions, the valid ones too, so it was definitely a good change. She even asked Amaan but he decided not to tell her anything because he doesn’t want to hurt her? As much as Amaan’s love for Ana is understandable & him not wanting to hurt her more is also justified, but keeping her in the dark that too when herself has started to pick up the pieces is not required. Amaan should’ve told her that this used to be her house & that’s where they both met years ago, I don’t think it would’ve made any difference, rather it would’ve helped altering Ana’s perspective because she had already heard about the murder of the woman who owned the place.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 26 Story Review - Filler Episode

Amaan recollected his thoughts & once again reminded himself that he was not going to forgive Meer Farooq. Amaan once again called Meer Farooq to see how far he had come but he found him clueless. Meer Farooq continued to brag about how powerful & influential he was, but he was making a fool of himself. Also, Meer Farooq got Nargis’ Bua’s call out of the blue, so the first thing he should’ve done is spoken to her on the phone wondering if she knew something about Ana or weighing in the possibility that Ana must’ve contacted Nargis Bua to let her father know that she was doing alright. Ali Baksh who usually does all the brainstorming for Meer Farooq also didn’t think of such a possibility that Nargis Bua’s call could help them find Ana. Both Meer Farooq & Ali Baksh do love to believe that they are very intelligent but let’s just say, they’re not!

Farhana Khala struck again & this time, she was in a very serious mood but that was not the only thing different – she had finally changed her position & was now sitting at a chair. She was also not sipping a cup of coffee, which means she is not going to waste any time & is now coming to finally find the answers to all of her questions. A few things might’ve changed but one thing which remained consistent was her poor acting, so well done!

Waiting For The Next Episode

This episode of Ye Dil Mera was a filler which did not take the story forward whatsoever. However, Ahad & Sajal definitely deserve full points for their brilliant performances. Some of the scenes were definitely interesting & engaging like Amaan’s call to Meer Farooq & him going to the same place where his parents were killed. Ana walking towards that house with so many questions running through her mind, these few moments were definitely good to see. I am definitely looking forward to the next episode because it’s high time they let the viewers know what exactly happened with Nilofer Baji.

Another episode, another continuity issue. Amaan was in a leather jacket when he picked Ana up from the roadside, when he brought her home, he was in his checkered shirt, which he was wearing before Ana left for a walk. I think as much as the director is responsible for bearing these minute details in mind, the actors are also responsible for not paying attention to such details & not thinking about the continuity of the scenes. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 24 Story Review – The Shock of Their Lives

Ohkay so, this was one of the most important episodes of Ye Dil Mera in terms of story & exposing of the truth. Each & every moment of this episode was engaging & gripping. All the reactions were realistically portrayed & some of the scenes were very emotional. The director definitely deserves points for giving all the characters equal treatment & enough screen time so that the viewers could understand what they were going through. It is safe to say that Ye Dil Mera has come to such a stage where every single episode is promising & has so much to offer.

The Shock of Their Lives

Ana decided to find out about some of the secrets that Amaan was keeping from her. Ana knew something was quite wrong & the way Amaan behaved with her, he had to have a solid reason to do so. Ana decided to do her part & what she stumbled upon was something she never in a million years had imagined. Ana saw the pictures of her & Meer Farooq Zaman. Just when Ana was trying to wrap her head around what was happening & why Amaan would do such a thing, she also got to see the wooden plaques commemorating Amaan’s family. That entire scene was done really well, especially when Amaan walked in & lit the candles. This was Amaan’s moment to let it all out & he did. He had to tell Ana that it was Meer Farooq Zaman; her father who had murdered his entire family.

Meer Farooq grew suspicious & knew he could find some clues. Yes, they had to take the story forward now that is why they showed that it didn’t ever occur to Meer Farooq or Ali Baksh to check Sahira’s phone before. It was now when they both grew a little impatient & desperate that they decided to look for answers & what they got to know was shocking for them. Sahira was in touch with Amaan & it didn’t take a second for Ali Baksh to tell Meer Farooq about all that he ever felt or suspected about Amaan. Meer Farooq’s dejected body language was enough to show that even he knew he was in hot waters & no matter what he’ll have to face his fears especially with Ana being in the picture.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 24 Story Review - The Shock of Their Lives

Meer Farooq decided to see Amaan & Ana, he thought just like all the people he has intimidated & harmed, Amaan will be the same too but what Meer Farooq witnessed was enough to shake him to the core. Amaan not only threatened him but showed him that he was not afraid of him at all. The confidence & faith that Amaan displayed in himself was what that actually rattled Meer Farooq because this was something that he wasn’t expecting at all. Ana chose to stay back & not go to her father’s place. All the things that Meer Farooq said to Ali Baksh after he came back from Amaan’s place were interesting. It was good to see him scattered & spaced out. It showed that this was the first time Meer Farooq was actually dealing with a situation which he didn’t have control of & this is what was making him nervous. Amaan has stepped on Meer Farooq’s Achilles Heel & even he knew it. Meer Farooq has always done everything to protect Ana & to fabricate such an image of himself in front of her which made her believe that he was the ideal father a girl could dream of. Now when Meer Farooq sensed the danger & knew that Ana was close to finding out the truth about her father, he couldn’t handle it well.

The dejection in Meer Farooq’s demeanor also showed that he was kind of trying to put two & two together & despite not wanting to, was being forced to think about all the people he had wronged all over these years. He was not paying much heed to it but there was a voice at the back of his head telling him that this was finally his undoing, especially now with his daughter being involved.

The entire scenario where Amaan threatened Meer Farooq was executed brilliantly, once again the change of attitude & body language that Amaan displayed was a treat to watch. He was in his element & he knew that this was probably the moment he had waited his entire life, therefore he could not show any nervousness to empower Meer Farooq or allow him into thinking that he stood a chance of defeating Amaan!

Ye Dil Mera Episode 24 Story Review - The Shock of Their Lives

Ana’s reaction was justified. She chose to stay but not as Amaan’s wife but as Meer Farooq’s daughter. It was obviously impossible for her to believe any of what she heard from Amaan about her father. All the flashbacks brilliantly showed that Ana was doubting all the things that she ever heard from Amaan. She now knows that Amaan’s only motive in life is to harm Meer Farooq & make him pay for what he has done, therefore she was left with no choice than to believe that all the things Amaan ever said to her were nothing but white lies. This entire equation is also an important development where Amaan knows what he feels for Ana but right now, she is not in the right frame of mind to even give him a chance or believe that he actually loves her. I thought Amaan was going to feel relieved knowing that he was not alone & he will get that assurance after Ana’s decision of staying with her husband but that wasn’t the case. Amaan actually felt heartbroken that Ana was now maintaining a distance from him, although he did tell her that she was innocent & was not responsible for what Meer Farooq has done but he’ll have to move a mountain to make her believe that despite the hatred that he has in his heart for Ana’s father, he has a lot more of love in his heart for her, for his wife.

Very Interesting Episode

This episode of Ye Dil Mera was definitely very interesting. I loved seeing all of their reactions & it was a brilliant judgement on the director’s part where he chose to give them equal coverage. Although Ali Baksh was pretty much in the background but even he got a lot of margin to once again showcase his loyalty towards his boss. All the actors were brilliant in this episode as well but Sajal Aly & Ahad Raza Mir were beyond amazing, especially on the scene where Amaan teased Meer Farooq & faced him with confidence, the sass Ahad displayed was actually amusing & just perfect. At some points Adnan Siddique didn’t seem as convincing but in the few ending sequences, he picked up the right attitude of disbelief & restlessness which was needed to show the shock that Meer Farooq had just endured. Also, I must add, Sajal Aly looked absolutely stunning in the scene where she told her father that she couldn’t go with him, the hairstyle, the makeup & teary eyes made her look very beautiful. The next episode seems interesting but I think the one after this one will be even better. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 23 Story Review – Brilliant Episode

Ohkay so, it was yet another interesting & engaging episode of Ye Dil Mera. It seems they are now taking the story forward by giving out all the details so that they can wrap it up nicely, which is much needed after keeping the story stagnant for quite a few weeks. This episode once again had a few brilliant performances to its credit. The writer Farhat Ishtiyaq has made all these characters so real & relatable that the viewers actually feel emotionally drawn towards them all.

Nilofer’s Analysis

The most important development in this episode of Ye Dil Mera was Nilofer finding out the truth about her husband Meer Farooq Zaman. Nilofer was a wise woman & this is the reason, it didn’t take her a long time to figure out the reason behind Meer Farooq’s aloofness & detachment to her. Nilofer was not living in denial & although she was a devoted wife, she knew something wasn’t right, which is what helped her immensely in putting two & two together. Nilofer was already having a hard time ever since she saw Meer Farooq trying to cross a line with Humera, that is what allowed her to analyze everything. That entire scene where Nilofer shared everything with Nargis Bua about what a wife feels & goes through when her husband is emotionally invested in someone else was powerful. The dialogues during that scene in particular were simple but heartfelt & made a lot of impact because in very easy words, the writer showed how hard it is for wives to deal with the betrayal. Nilofer had been feeling this way for a long time but now she knew what the actual reason was.

Mira Sethi performed convincingly in that particular scene & gave it the kind of emotional feel & treatment that was required to make the viewers understand & feel what Nilofer was going through. It was also sweet to see Nargis Bua being sympathetic towards Nilofer. Nargis Bua was loyal & sincere, not because it was her job but because she saw the niceness in Nilofer & could understand her sufferings, this is why she also grew concerned about Nilofer’s well-being & position in this marriage.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 23 Story Review - Brilliant Episode

Humera decided to tell everything to Nilofer, but it was also a smart way of showing that Nilofer on her own was not oblivious to what Meer Farooq was upto. She herself witnessed her husband almost harassing Humera on Ana’s birthday & then she spotted his car outside her place, which made it very easy for Nilofer to believe everything that Humera was telling her. Every single emotion that Nilofer displayed where she first doubted Humera, then also analyzed Meer Farooq’s behavior & later believed Humera’s version because she saw how happy she was with Obaid went to show that Nilofer was not naive or gullible & she was also aware of the fact that this was not something unusual that she was finding out about her husband. Men cheat & as heartbroken as she was, she believed it immediately & didn’t even for a second think about giving him a benefit of doubt, which was a good surprise. Nilofer’s assurance to Humera was actually very sweet. They both were now dealing with the same problem in their lives but unfortunately, we all know the fate they met but it is good to know that both of them tried their best. However, I still feel Humera should’ve told everything to Obaid in stead of solely relying on Nilofer, especially when she had a bad feeling about Meer Farooq hurting her family.

Ana & Amaan’s Equation

Ana saw Amaan being vulnerable once again but this time around it was about his family. Ana was trying her best to make him feel good or comfortable but Amaan was not in a mood to sugarcoat his emotions or cave in after seeing Ana’s vigilance & concerns for him. Once again, a phenomenal performance by both Ahad Raza Mir & Sajal Aly. The scenes of Nargis Bua were emotional too, her heart actually aches for Ana as well as for Nilofer because she knows about her murder, however she has kept it to herself but is now feeling burderend by it, especially when she thinks about Ana. At least Nargis Bua has paved a way for Ana to communicate with her, even if she doesn’t have the courage to talk to her now, she will eventually get in touch with her, which is nice!

Ye Dil Mera Episode 23 Story Review - Brilliant Episode

Brilliant Episode

This episode of Ye Dil Mera was perfect & what’s surprising is that although by now the viewers have pretty much figured out what transpired in the past, they have still made all these episodes covering the past events so intriguing & engaging. Mira Sethi was actually very impressive in this episode & honestly speaking I wasn’t expecting this sort of convincing acting from her, so it came as a pleasant surprise. Naima Khan always makes her scenes worthwhile & it is interesting she has made her presence felt in even those scenes where she didn’t have any dialogues at all. This & the previous episode were by far my favorite from the entire drama. The preview of the next episode was a treat too, it seems finally Amaan will tell Ana about Meer Farooq, let’s see what happens next. Ye Dil Mera Episode 22 Story Review – Intense Episode

Ohkay so, this was yet another interesting episode of Ye Dil Mera. It covered the much-needed story from the past & showed the consequences that Amaan is faced with due to his tragic childhood experiences at present as well. The promo of the next episode also seemed promising & it seems the drama-makers are now taking the story towards the end, which is definitely a good sign.

Humera & Meer Farooq

Zarnish Khan deserves all the praises for her acting in this episode of Ye Dil Mera. She showcased all the emotions that Humera went through after being harassed by Meer Farooq & later trying to recover from the traumatic experience to perfection. Meer Farooq has been psychopath all his life. He could not even imagine to see Humera living her life peacefully with a man she loved. He was not only envious but could not come to terms with the fact that the woman she loved could actually move on & get settled with someone else. For Meer Farooq, it was an insult that the woman he loved did not reciprocate his feelings. Meer Farooq tried really hard to win Humera over but he was faced with a bitter reality that she had not only moved on but was never ever in love with him to begin with.

I felt a lot for Humera throughout this episode, but one thing I really do not understand, neither do I agree with is her decision of keeping everything a secret from her husband who couldn’t complete a sentence without calling her meri jaan. Humera jaan had spent years with Obaid, they both shared a very strong relationship & she was a mother of his children, so it actually did not make any sense that she was trying to keep Meer Farooq’s reality a secret from her husband. Humera jaan should’ve known that Obaid was going to trust her no matter what she said & considering she was eager to go far away from Daryabagh, she had all the reasons to tell her husband the truth about Meer Farooq. Humera jaan was shown to be a very sorted person who had clarity & knew what she wanted from life, therefore it was absolutely unconvincing & unlike her that she decided not to be transparent with her husband about everything that Meer Farooq was upto. She also found out that Meer Farooq’s intentions were evil, so she had all the more reason to be upfront & honest with her husband. Yes, to take the story forward, the writer relied on this scenario but it actually shouldn’t have been the case. If they had shown Obaid to be a typical husband who was paranoid or doubted his wife every step of the way, then this scenario would’ve made sense but to see Humera being such a jaan of Obaid, this secrecy was uncalled for!

Meer Farooq didn’t even care that Humera was a mother of two & that her eldest son was at such an age where he could see or understand what was happening. That entire scene was intense & well-acted by both Zarnish Khan & Adnan Siddique but Zarnish Khan definitely made the viewers feel for Humera, she also allowed everyone to see through her fears & restlessness. It was also made clear that right after this encounter, Meer Farooq killed Humera’s entire family. It showed that he was not in his right state of mind after facing Humera’s rejection one more time & on top of that, the way Humera humiliated & slapped him bruised his ego. I am glad the next episode will also show Nilofer’s side of the story & they didn’t just wrap this scenario up by showing what transpired between Humera & Meer Farooq. Nilofer deserved to know the truth & not everything has been put into perspective that Nilofer was also killed because she got to see the real face of her husband!

I must say, at the end of such an intense & emotional episode, the director decided to show Farhana khala because to be honest, I took that entire scene as a comic break which was much needed. To see Farhana khala sitting in the comfort of her lounge, probably stuck to the coffee table, in a home which is nowhere near like your typical houses in the USA – is quite funny. Also, Farhana khala & her husband seem to have all the time in the world where without a worry in the world, they just spend time with each other, sipping coffee playing sherlock holmes. I know this drama is more about Ana & Amaan’s PTSD, but while watching this scene with Farhana khala sounding like a broken record, I also felt that maybe the writer has also tried to shed a light on the disorder of paranoia because Farhana khala sounds paranoid. What’s funny is that she doesn’t even do much & just sits in a similar position near the coffee table & tries to sort decades old mystery like she is playing sudoku. I actually thought maybe her husband will say that the best thing for her is to go back to Pakistan to solve the mystery because that seems to be the best idea but he seemed rather irritated because Farhana khala kept on interrupting him while he read a book!

Zarnish Khan Steals The Show

This episode of Ye Dil Mera definitely had a lot of important developments. I must say, not sure what sort of brief the director gave to the supporting actors because they all seem at their utmost discomfort while acting in this drama. Experienced actors like Naima Khan, Farhan Aly Agha & Maryam Mirza have done a commendable job as a supporting cast but the others such as the Mr. & Mrs. Farhana & Obaid seem to be competing for the award of worst performance in this drama. The way Obaid did a little stretch after he arrived from Sialkot & the way he walked to recieve his phone call made it look like the director wanted him to look as robotic as possible. Farhana Khala & her husband are equally bad at acting or maybe they are bored to the core because they have no other dialogues apart from a few. Anyhow, Zarnish Khan’s brilliant performance compensated big time & she was phenomenal in this episode. Adnan Siddique was just as convincing but Zarnish Khan stole the show for sure. Definitely looking forward to the next episode when Humera jaan will be telling Nilofer baji everything about Meer Farooq, I feel it is going to be intense as well. Ye Dil Mera Episode 21 Story Review – Engaging Episode

Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera covered the tracks from past & present, which made it not only interesting but intense too. The first half & the second half had a lot to offer & took the story forward in a convincing manner. Writer Farhat Ishtiyaq has done a commendable job & she deserves all sorts of appreciation for writing a script so intense & intriguing which is able to hold the interest of the viewers even after so many episodes have passed, however, it is unfortunate that this drama didn’t get the kind of direction it deserved to make it even better.

The Present

Ana now has more questions regarding Amaan in her mind than ever before. The initial scene which showed her thoughts written all over screen was new & kind of took me a few seconds to get used to this new idea. If they had used Sajal’s voice over during that scene, asking all those questions & giving words to her thoughts, it would’ve made more impact. Also, the Pyar Ke Sadqay ticker at the bottom of the screen during that scene was a bad choice made by the channel because it censored a couple of dialogues and it could’ve waited. It goes to show that even the Channel is not too keen when it comes to the execution of Ye Dil Mera, hence the blunder!

Amaan got to know about Sahira’s death & just when he was dealing with it, he also found out that his wife was keeping an eye on him & has now started questioning him. Ana has actually found out quite a few evidences which compelled her to cross question Amaan but he is not going to give anything away before he thinks the time is right. It was good to know that at least Ana tried & she didn’t just stop there, she decided to take a stand for herself by threatening Amaan of leaving him if he continues to insult her & mistreat her. Amaan is doing everything to keep this marriage intact, but the sad part is, he is doing it all on his own terms & doesn’t want to treat Ana with equality. Amaan is pretty much comfortable with the idea of keeping Ana in the dark & depriving her of the right to know more about her husband. Amaan was shaken by the news of Sahira’s death, this is why he decided to send Meer Farooq an e-mail containing all the photographs he had of him & his wife.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 21 Story Review - Engaging Episode

Meer Farooq got to know that Amaan had sold his business & even finalized the deal in Dubai, therefore he decided to call Amaan to see if he will tell him something or not. Meer Farooq did suggest that he & Ana were in contact but that doesn’t seem to be the case & it looked like it was just said as a cover up because so far no such scene has been shown where Ana & Meer Farooq had spoken to each other over the phone since his trip to France. Anyhow, Meer Farooq was shaken to the core when he got that e-mail from Amaan & he has no idea that a storm awaits for him ahead because going by what Amaan had just said before sending him that email, it seems he is now going to put his plan into action very soon!

The Past

They took us in the past & showed how Meer Farooq continued to pester Humera. I don’t want to be taking away from the story of Ye Dil Mera, but to cut the long story short, that entire scenario was pretty much a reminiscent of Mere Pass Tum Ho, that too with Adnan Siddique playing the similar role, I couldn’t help but see the similarities. He spilled the tea on himself to buy some time to have a conversation with Humera. Well, Humera seems pretty happy with her husband & now it was more obvious why she preferred Obaid over Meer Farooq. Meer Farooq has now started to interfere in Humera’s life & it goes to show that his relationship with Nilofer wasn’t special, he was just married & his entire focus was on his daughter. Nilofer & Meer Farooq did not have a healthy relationship & after that night, Nilofer also found out that Meer Farooq was pretty much still in love with Humera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 21 Story Review - Engaging Episode

It would’ve been nice if they had shown a conversation or two between Nilofer & Humera, discussing how Humera was never really interested & how she was getting uncomfortable with Meer Farooq’s antics. Also, Humera & Obaid were shown to have a very strong relationship, so not sure why was Humera keeping things from her husband, considering Meer Farooq was now trying to invade her privacy & pretty much barging into her home every chance he got. It was unfortunate that Amaan as a child was witnessing everything & he could see how his mother was getting uncomfortable, however, it underlined the hatred Amaan has for Meer Farooq now, it showed that is stems from all of his past experiences & encounters he has had with him during his childhood, even before the murder happened!

Intense & Interesting

This episode of Ye Dil Mera was definitely interesting. The first half was intense & the second half was engaging to keep the viewers hooked & also grow curious about what is yet to come. The preview of the next episode was interesting as well & is definitely making me look forward to it. Ahad Raza Mir was phenomenal in this episode, it was good to see all the shades of Amaan’s character once again because in a previous few episodes, his emotions were very much in place & he was sorted. It perfectly showed how Sahira’s death disturbed Amaan. He has shown to be having soft spot for those who have been wronged or mistreated by Meer Farooq, this is why, even though Amaan distanced himself from Sahira, her death mentally scattered him, which is why he decided to punish Meer Farooq by showing him the pictures. Ye Dil Mera has been a different story with interesting characters, let’s see what’s in store for the viewers. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 20 Story Review – Happening Episode

Ohkay so, it was one of the most important episodes of Ye Dil Mera. I hope after this episode, the story takes a new direction with Amaan finally taking things further because so far, all that he is doing is not only controlled but has mostly been done in the background. This episode showed yet another brutal murder of the one who dared going against Meer Farooq, this definitely should be a reason enough for Amaan to do what it takes to bring him down.

Meer Farooq Should Be Concerned For Ana!

Sahira wanted Amaan’s help but he couldn’t do much because he obviously feared getting exposed. Amaan is definitely going to regret not helping a woman in need because she actually relied on him & Amaan knowing Meer Farooq in & out should’ve been able to foresee something like this happening. Sahira knew something was not right & she feared getting isolated but unfortunately, she never would’ve imagined that her so-called loving husband wouldn’t even think for a second before ending her life.

This episode pretty much covered all the fronts where Meer Farooq was now getting to know some details about Amaan which were making him suspicious. His conversation with Ghouri was enough for him to grow concerned about Ana as well as Amaan. Ghouri finally figured out that he was being used by Amaan all these years & now when he finally achieved what he wanted, he has started to ignore him. However, as far as Meer Farooq could go to get the business inquired about Amaan’s oil refinery, it was once again unconvincing that he didn’t even bother calling An.. This so far has to one of the most unconvincing aspects of the story that the father & a daughter who were so close to one another are doing absolutely well without getting in touch with each other for days. At first, it did look fine that Meer Farooq was satisfied seeing Ana being happy & feeling secure with Amaan, but as the days are passing by, he being the vigilant father he has always been should’ve shown more concern after seeing the difference in Ana’s attitude. A parent, no matter what, can always figure out when the child is lying or hiding the truth, so Ana’s white lies shouldn’t have put Meer Farooq to so much ease for him to literally become distant & emotionally detached to his daughter. Meer Farooq may not be wanting to get Ana worried about Amaan’s business but when he heard all the things from Ghouri, the first fatherly instinct should have been to call Ana & get to know about how things are between her & Amaan. It was kind of amusing to see that Meer Farooq inquired about Amaan’s business but not his equation with Ana.

Finally, the change in Ana’s behavior was one of the most interesting aspects of this episode. It is about time that she starts seeing Amaan for who he is. She has started to figure things out on her own & the more she gets into it, the more she is learning that Amaan has been constantly lying to her while also keeping secrets. Amaan is obviously going to lie further but now it is solely on Ana whether she falls for it again & again or not. Seeing Ana just roaming around in her house aimlessly also makes one think why can’t she just go & spend time with her father, where they both can talk & even if she doesn’t want to get him worried about things not being as good as they seem, at least some hints would help Meer Farooq understand what is happening & how Amaan is not as he poses to be. For a girl who has nothing to do the entire day, the thing she would want to do the most is definitely spend time with her friends or family at least a couple of days a week. Also, shouldn’t Amaan encourage her to get involved in some sort of activities due to the fear of her becoming more curious about his belongings & secrets that he has been hiding in his study or basement?

So, Sahira was murdered by Ali Baksh on the orders of Meer Farooq. I actually felt bad for her. All the directional flaws aside, the way these killing scenes have been shot definitely leave an impact & make the viewers feel a little uneasy – exactly how they should make one feel, therefore the director definitely deserves full points for the realistic & brilliant execution of these scenarios. In reality as well, it just is a matter of split second when something unfortunate like this happens & this is the essence that the director has gone for which makes it hard-hitting. Anyways, if Amaan would’ve wanted, he could’ve easily saved Sahira’s life by helping her break free from this house arrest & hiding in a safe & secure place. It would’ve definitely made more impact when later Sahira would’ve personally met Ana & told her about Meer Farooq. If not in his Daryabagh cottage,, Amaan could’ve made her stay in one of the rooms in his guest house. Well, they did show that she got shot but did she really die or will she survive the bullets is the question to be asked!

Interesting Episode

Overall, this episode was pretty interesting because a lot happened & every other character was shown to be doing something. Amaan & Ana’s relationship has become pretty one-dimensional but it is interesting that Ana has stopped falling for his lies & is now trying to understand him better. After watching this episode & seeing how Meer Farooq spoke about murdering people who deceive him, I have a feeling that if he will die, Amaan will end up dying too. Obviously, he has spent his entire life so far dwelling in the past & his childhood misery, trauma of losing his family, so it is highly unlikely for him to ever recover. So far, his hatred for Meer Farooq & revenge has kept him going so once he will achieve that, he won’t really find a purpose to lead a normal life. That can obviously change provided Amaan himself wants to move on but at this point, it is hard to predict, which makes it yet another interesting aspect of the story that you really can’t guess what will be the end of these characters. Will they ever find a closure or the only one they’ll get is in the form of death? Let’s see. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 19 Story Review – The Ultimate Question

Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera seemed never ending. The gazillion commercial breaks of Hum TV along with poor audio quality & delayed timing of Hum Tv’s Live Streaming doesn’t help the drama-watching experience either. This is something they should pay heed to for their overseas viewers who tune to watch the drama while it is airing in Pakistan simultaneously. It was good to see the rest of the characters for a break because in the previous few episodes, it was more or less only Amaan & Ana in the picture. I think the story-tellers have taken their sweet time, therefore they should now pick up a speed & cover the rest of the story by showing Amaan’s revenge & solve the mystery around Nilo Baji’s death.

The Ultimate Question

Let me begin by asking a serious question, Farhana Khala ka sabun slow hai kya? Please don’t tell me a curious soul like Farhana stumbled upon Nilo Baji’s last & final letter almost 2 decades after her death? This has to be the most unconvincing & unrealistic development in the story or maybe the writer had something else in her mind but the director couldn’t really do much more than to ruin the timing & everything surrounding this important detail? The viewers did get to see how Farhana Khala was obsessed with Nilo Baji when she came to Pakistan, so it already is pretty explanatory that Nilo Baji & mystery surrounding her death was always at the back of her mind, so why wasn’t she looking for answers before? Yes, we can also give her a benefit of doubt considering that she got married & was probably raising 2 children, who are more like na maloom afraad in the story, so she got pretty occupied with her marital life & motherhood in general but still? If they had shown it to be a span of a few years, it still would’ve made some sense but 2 decades?

Please don’t expect the viewers to buy the fact that a character as curious as Farhana sat still for almost 2 decades before she started looking for answers. She knew the details like how her parents came back unsatisfied, full of ambiguities about Nilo Baji’s death, so this factor stayed with her for all these years, but still she never decided to look into it & only grew more curious because she visited Pakistan & saw everyone’s reactions & hesitation in answering her questions regarding her sister? Another aspect that made this entire scenario far more unrealistic & unconvincing was that just moments before Farhana declared that she had saved these few things & oftens looks at them to connect with her family & recall their memories, so it just had to be this day after 2 decades going through a pile of few randomly folded papers she saw Nilo Baji’s letter? Please!

I am not sure if I should even expect Ana to show some redeeming qualities or maybe like in a typical Ahsan Talish fashion, she will miraculously grow up & take charge of everything in her life in the last 2 minutes of the last episode of Ye Dil Mera? The only interesting thing was that finally after studying Amaan’s behavior closely for a few days, she has finally started seeing him for who he is & is becoming suspicious. She stumbled upon her necklace & found it in a dustbin. It was enough to disturb her & I am glad she took that as a hint & didn’t just let it pass. Amaan’s strange attitude towards Ghouri also was quite off-putting for Ana. Ana also screened Farhana Khala’s calls & when she finally decided to receive one of them, she just didn’t really pay heed to how rattled she sounded on the phone. Once again, not too sure if the viewers should expect much from Ana’s character because after 19 episodes, the viewers should at least have that much clarity but in this case, it is quite ambiguous!

Amaan for now is pretty much in control of everything, at least so far this is what he thinks but other than that, nothing much happened apart from him shouting at Ana & then acting as if nothing happened. This side of his personality is realistic & makes a lot of sense because it is like after a build up, after he yells or screams, he channels out his pent up anger & then gets the breather to behave normally.

Meer Farooq is pretty much done with Sahira, this is why he is sending her away because he can totally foresee her causing more trouble to him in the future. Sahira will obviously get caught as suggested in the next promo but it seems even Meer Farooq will get to know some details about Amaan that will make him suspicious.

Move The Story Forward

Overall this episode of Ye Dil Mera actually didn’t have much to offer & neither did it take the story forward. The only development worth noticing was Farhana Khala getting to read Nilo Baji’s letter & her father’s diary but because of the fact that she was getting to do all that after 2 decades, it failed to leave an impact. Also, if their father could not share everything with his wife, wasn’t there someone else? A phupho, a chacha, his best friend, his business partner, a colleague or anyone random that he would’ve cared to share some details with? Even a psychopath like Meer Farooq has maintained a healthy relationship with Ghouri, so please don’t tell me that Farhana’s father didn’t have anyone except his diary? Forever alone?

It won’t be wrong to say that some of the scenes have started to seem repetitive, especially Amaan & Ana’s. Everytime Amaan blatantly lies in front of his wife only to later ask her if she was bothered about it or not? Ana not showing any signs of distress after being yelled at by Amaan? Sitting on a sofa aimlessly throughout the day & picking up the pieces by asking Imam-din questions about Amaan & his belongings? I really hope the next episode is promising & offers something substantial because it is becoming a teensy bit hard to maintain an interest in Ye Dil Mera at this stage. Anyways, goes without saying that Ahad Raza Mir’s performance was phenomenal. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 18 Story Review – Pretty Stagnant

Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera had a couple of important scenes to it but nothing major. The pace of the drama has slowed down considerably & there are a few scenes which have started to seem repetitive. Indeed, they are doing everything to cover Amaan’s turmoil & mental state but it has now started to look like there’s nothing much to Amaan & Ana’s track than him manipulating her & she falling for it every single time. I hope when they go back to Islamabad & resume their normal routines, Ana starts showing some growth in her overall personality.

Same Pattern & Pace

This episode clarified how Amaan exactly recognized Meer Farooq the moment he saw him killing his family, which actually validates all the questions the viewers have been raising about Meer Farooq making a mistake of killing Humera’s entire family & not knowing about her son. Meer Farooq clearly met Amaan & they both were properly introduced, so yes, it does look like a glitch that he conveniently missed the detail of ending everyone’s life then & there but not paying the heed to the fact that Humera’s son was not in the car. Anyhow, Amaan has used this time in Daryabagh to recall everything in order to stay focused on how he has to take the next step in exposing Meer Farooq.

When it comes to Amaan & Ana’s personal equation, it was pretty much the same. Amaan telling & showing things to Ana differently only to confuse her further. One thing that was convincingly shown was how Ana’s mental health was deteriorating which was affecting her overall demeanour & behavior. She was just not herself anymore & was finding it very hard to be there, this was something that was portrayed brilliantly by Sajal Aly & her strong performance.

The major development in this episode was the effect that Sahira’s call had on Meer Farooq. It was enough to rattle him & once again, for him, no one else matters anymore but the fact that he can not even fathom the idea of standing with his head surrendered, guilt-stricken in front of Ana – this is what was making him restless. Meer Farooq knows he can get rid of anyone at any given time but the only person that matters to him, Ana won’t be able grasp it. So, Amaan ended his deal with Sahira right after he got all the evidence to prove that Meer Farooq was actually married to her. Sahira does feel trapped but Amaan definitely gave her the right advice that she should just stay by Meer Farooq’s side & not do anything that will make him suspect her. Ali Baksh is being over-efficient but for now he was unable to find any clue but I do feel his vigilance will lead him to something which will put Sahira in trouble later!

It was good to see Nargis Bua, she was trying to move on but was obviously finding it hard to cope with the fact that Ana was not a part of her life anymore. Nargis Bua knows in & out of Meer Farooq, that is why she chose not to stay under his roof. One thing is for sure that after everything will be revealed, Amaan will probably take care of Nargis Bua like his own family member because he genuinely feels for her. Humera & Meer Farooq met in front of Nilofer & he didn’t shy away from making it obvious that he was still not over Humera, maybe this is what she picked up too because of which she decided to leave ASAP. It seems even young Amaan didn’t like Meer Farooq much because Amaan was pretty unhappy with the way he was ogling at his mother. Kids obviously are very intuitive & observant so Amaan obviously picked up on little details & could notice that even his mother was not much comfortable though she portrayed him to be. I must commend Humera for the fact that she didn’t mind leaving her daughter alone with the servants every chance she got? Doesn’t make much sense & doesn’t seem realistic either.

The Story Should Move On

The overall episode started & ended on pretty much the same note, nothing major happened & it ended smoothly. The preview also didn’t really promise much in terms of story development because it looks like Amaan will still be playing riddles & then screaming at Ana only to later apologize to her & then cook a meal for her attentively. The story of Ye Dil Mera is so gripping & interesting but unfortunately, it is not the kind that can be spread over 30 episodes & still be able to hold the viewer’s interest. Stories like these deserve one development after another, one happening episode after another rather than being all about the number of episodes that were used to cover them. I feel it’s high time that they now shift the story to Amaan’s revenge & him putting his plan into action rather than hinting about his resentment. Ye Dil Mera Episode 17 Story Review – Pieces of Puzzle

Ohkay so, this episode of Ye Dil Mera took the story forward & gave a lot of answers to the viewers by showing the flashbacks & revealing how Amaan & Ana shared some of their childhood memories together. This episode in general was definitely nice to see, more so because a lot was revealed, however, the acting in some of the scenes was unconvincing & it almost looked like the actors were having a hard time establishing the chemistry needed to make their conversations appear effortless & natural!

Pieces of Puzzle From The Past

Ana has been finding Daryabagh quite familiar but she is unable to put a finger to it. I will definitely give it to Ana that after suffering from anxiety & depression, some of her memory must’ve been hazy but considering that she has spent such a memorable time with her mother in that place, for her not to even remember any of it does make it a little unconvincing. Maybe if they had shown that Ana was around 3 – 4 years of age, it would’ve still made sense because the girl that was shown in this episode was around 7-8 years old & mostly kids do remember the happenings especially visits to certain places vaguely at least. However, like I said, I will give it to her considering that she has spent years being disturbed so for her to hold onto that memory seems highly unlikely. Amaan’s character & his overall growth has become stagnant, especially the motive of bringing Ana to Daryabagh. It seems he wants Meer Farooq to come in order to get in touch with Ana, but it looks like it will take a while because Meer Farooq seems too relaxed & not too keen on getting in touch with his daughter Ana during his trip to France.

Ye Dil Mera Episode 17 Story Review - Pieces of Puzzle

So, the reason why Amaan knew Ana had a scar on her chin was because of the childhood incident of falling from the swing. Amaan & Ana’s mothers ended up being friends. It was also suggested that Meer Farooq was clearly interested in Humera but she friend-zoned him. I still feel this would not be the reason why Meer Farooq ended up killing her, there’s obviously more to it. It looks like when Nilo had feared that her life was in danger, she must’ve gone to Humera & she being a witness to Nilo’s death ended up getting killed by Meer Farooq too. They will definitely take some time in taking the story to that point, however it was interesting to note that they did establish the connection between Humera & Meer Farooq way before, because after he shot her, the way he looked at her clearly indicated that he had certain feelings of resentment towards her. However, I will say that it is definitely interesting how in certain scenarios, they have show a more humane side of Meer Farooq due to the love he has for Ana, it is like she brings out the best in him & he likes being a good human being in front of her. Yes, he is lying & faking his niceness but as a father, the love he has for her is unconditional & pure. Having said that, I am definitely looking forward to his undoing because he most certainly has to pay for what he has done in his past.

Humera & Nilo became good friends & this episode only covered the beginning of their friendship. Their conversations were simple to the point of being a little off, also it looked like they both were repeating after each other, which made their chemistry as strangers as well as friends a little unconvincing & odd. In scenarios like these, it shows how important it is for the director to get the desired acting from the actors because some actors heavily rely on the directors & their briefing. It was too obvious that both Zarnish Khan as well as Mira Sethi were struggling to do their bit. Anyways, I was way too happy to be getting the answers that I didn’t let their poor acting & strange vibe distract me but it was still way too obvious. I liked seeing how Nargis Bua was being herself & was super sweet to both Ana & Amaan. It now makes a lot more sense why Amaan has a soft-corner for Nargis Bua because she happens to be the only person alive who was nice to him back in those days & who he has some fond memories of. The scenes of kids were nicely done & they seemed natural, considering the viewers automatically don’t expect the child artist to act naturally or effortlessly but still, both the kids did their part well!

Ye Dil Mera Episode 17 Story Review - Pieces of Puzzle

Sahira is obviously following the instructions of Amaan & she is now confusing Meer Farooq, kind of riling him up so that he does something wrong which Amaan will catch onto. Ana is obviously not too keen about not having her mobile phone which is strange but Meer Farooq not being eager to get in touch with his daughter doesn’t make much sense, especially when he is out of the country & hasn’t spoken to her once? Yes, I didn’t find the need of him to be in touch with her 24/7 when he & Ana were in Islamabad & she had just started her marital life with the love of her life, but yes, now that he is far away, he definitely would want to get in touch with his only family, wouldn’t he?

Weak Execution

The episode overall was definitely nice to see. Amaan collecting the pieces of his childhood & Ana finding some of the traces as well, it was quite interesting. Just when I was appreciating the little detail of the hotel staff speaking in French & appreciating the fact that the director put in that effort to convince the viewers that Meer Farooq was in France, I was taken aback by the high-res quality of pictures from Ana’s childhood. It’s little details like these that set the tone for the drama & show that the drama-makers only approached it commercially. I was wondering how much of an impact it would’ve made if they had photoshopped those pictures & given them a little effect of the 90’s to suggest that they were from Ana’s childhood & not clicked yesterday with the child artist. Ahad Raza Mir & Sajal Aly were right in their element in this episode yet again. Naima Khan played her part well. Mira Sethi & Zarnish Khan definitely struggled, although the stylists had put in an extra effort in their clothing to make it look like they were showing a flashback from the 90’s but the actresses on their own faltered, which also made the entire scenario lose the charm & the grip it should’ve had on the viewers, considering they were showing such important pieces of the puzzle related to Ana & Amaan’s childhood. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Ye Dil Mera.
