Replacing Sadqay Tumharay soon, upcoming show Dayar-e-Dil’s, promo has amazed the audience. The 42-second long promo contains everything the audience wanted to see. Firstly, the locations from Skardu that have been beautifully captured with their essence. The camerawork is plausible.

Secondly, the actors who look focused and totally into their characters. The show has a stellar cast, and that adds to the enthusiasm. I really wish there was more of Sanam Saeed in the promo.

The director Haseeb Hasan has given us dramas like Nanhi and Tum Ho Ke Chup. The production value is great and the writer Farhat Ishtiaq is known for her heart-touching stories.
All thanks to social media & Facebook in particular that I got to be in touch with one of the sweetest contestant of Pakistan Idol. Her journey may have been short but the impact wasn’t. After speaking to her I have become an avid fan of her & I must say that the positivity she possesses will take her a lot ahead in life.
I actually requested for an interview & even sent her my questions but she was more comfortable in replying to me spontaneously. The interview was more like a chatting & it was an absolute pleasure of mine to speak to Mehwish Maqsood, who was witty, fun to talk to & very honest. :)
So this was the Q&A session I had with her, there you go:
Me: What inspired you to come to Pakistan Idol? She: As you know that I belong to a mediocre family. I am not a trained singer & I have never had the resources to get the professional training. But Pakistan Idol is the biggest platform to give recognition to singers like us, that is why I went over there. I never thought that I would be selected but Allhamdullilah not only I was selected, I got the recognition which I wanted as well.
Me: What do you think of the judges? Tell us about them individually? She: Bushra Apa: She has a very what we say ‘pakkay kaan’ for sur & taal. She loved me a lot and several times told me that she regretted my elimination. Ali Azmat Sir: He is very blunt. We all were afraid of him & wanted to hear good comments from him. He has struggled a lot in the early stages of his career & that’s why I think he has become a hard nut to crack. Hadiqa Ma’am: What a personality! Awesome judge or I must say the only judge who is in search of feel & expression of the singer. Sometimes she does get biased (according to me) but I did always get appreciated by her.
Me: Do the judges help the contestants with the song choices? She: It is never a judge’s job to help the contestants. Some people are hired for this cause & they are doing their work with sincerity.
Me: Do you think the deserving contestants got eliminated? She: Yes for sure. But it’s a part and format of the show which everyone should accept & swallow. But I do have a feeling that why now has the management changed the rules of voting where you can only cast 25 votes per sim costing you half a rupee? I say no problem, better late than never.
Me: Now after all the eliminations, who do you think deserves to win the title? She: According to me, those who will be in the Top 3 are Asad Raza Sonu, Waqas Ali Vicky & may be Kashif Ali, but I personally want Asad Raza Sonu to win as he is an awesome singer.
Me: Who according to you hasn’t been performing well? She: Shahmir Aziz Quidwai & Rosemary.
Me: Who became your best friend(s) during Pakistan Idol? She: Well I don’t make friends but one person who was not a contestant & helped me throughout my journey was Danish. I found a true friend for the first time in my life & I want to thank him & also tell him that is he a very good person.
Me: Was He from Pakistan Idol’s team? She: Yes. He helped me more than I expected.
Me: What’s your message to those who are voting? She: Message for those who are voting? Hahaha! The choices you all are making makes me laugh and I think that all of you should’ve gotten some sort of a training before being appointed to make such crucial decisions. You guys are ruining it.
Me: What’s your message to your co-contestants who are still in the race? She: Nothing, just wait for your turn! ;)
Me: Please tell us about the voting system, is it fair? She: I think so. If not then you can’t do anything but I still think it is fair.
Me: People say ‘the only thing missing from the reality shows is the reality’, is it true? She: No, it’s not. When we were in the competition, we were in front of the cameras for 15 hours a day, daily! I think Pakistan has never experienced such a reality on television before.
Me: Tell us about your co-contestants in a single word?

Me: How was your experience till your journey? She: Fantabulous.
Me: How was the response after leaving Pakistan Idol? She: Uf! I didn’t know that people were in love with my singing. :)
Me: What are your future plans? She: Music music and then marriage, hahaha!
Me: In the end, a message to all your fans please? She: I don’t like the word fan & I actually take them all as my friends. So, the message to all my friends is ‘I love you all’.
So, this was it from Mehwish Maqsood, I had a further chat with her & found her very sweet. When I thanked her for her honesty, she said she enjoyed talking to me & answering me for the sake of this interview. :)

Finally, after a long wait & a few days of tailing my brother; Asad Raza Sonu, who I referred to as Asad Bhaiiii responded to his sister i-e ME & spoke his heart out. :) I must say the wait was worth it because clearly he has been busy but I am happy that even though we had a few moments of bad timing, he managed to respond back to me whenever he got the chance.
If I have to describe Asad Raza Sonu, I’d say he’s one optimistic person who sees light at the end of the tunnel. He is positive & very very humble. It was a pleasure speaking to him for the sake of this interview & I am glad he spoke to me with so much ease, as if he was talking to his sister because he referred to me as sis every single time we talked. :) So, there you go with his interview:
Q) What inspired you to come to Pakistan Idol? A) The answer is very clear. It was the very first time Pakistan Idol was being launched in Pakistan. It’s a dream of the younger generation & this platform has inspired so many people. That’s is why I decided to take part in Pakistan Idol.
Q) What do you think of the judges? Tell about them individually? A) All of them are very nice. Bushra Ansari is a living legend of our entertainment industry but along with that she has amazing listening power. She is awesome. Ali Azmat is a rockstar of Pakistan & he has been a fantastic judge. Hadiqa Ma’am is a pop queen. She is a soft hearted judge but her definite priority is ‘sur’.
Q) Do the judges help the contestants with the song choices? A) Yes, through their comments every week they have helped us & told us how important our song selection is. According to them, we should be able to touch the heart & soul by our singing & for that, song selection has to be that good.
Q) Do you think deserving contestants got eliminated? A) Yes, Waqas Ali, Syed Sajjid Abbas, Mehwish Maqsood, Sana Zulfikar all were deserving but the most deserving contestant got eliminated this Sunday & that is Shahmir Aziz Quidwai.
Q) Now after all the eliminations, who do you think deserves to win the title? A) No comments because all of them are great. In the end it depends on the public opinion & their choice.
Q) Who according to you hasn’t been performing well? A) In my point of view, they all have been performing well but only one of them will win the title.
Q) Who became your best friend(s) during Pakistan Idol? A) We all were like best friends but I am more frank with Kashif Ali, Ali Asad Zaidi, Zamad Baig & Mohammad Shoaib.
Q) What’s your message to those who are voting? A) They know better than me because Pakistani audience is not only intelligent but is genius as well.
Q) What’s your message to your co-contestants who are still in the race? A) Keep up the hard work & give out the best without fearing anything. Apni awaz se choo lo har dil, har din.
Q) Please tell us about the voting system, is it fair? A) Management knows that better. :)

Q) How has the response been so far after your elimination? A) It has been overwhelming. My fans are enthusiastic & everyone on social media is raving about my elimination. I am amazed to see the appeal going on, on the websites for my return to the show as a Wild Card Entry.
Q) What are your future plans? A) I plan to continue both my job & singing.
Q) In the end, a message to all your fans please? A) Thank you very much for your great support & sada khush raho. This world is for those who try not for those who cry’ & because of this I say that the way Pakistani audience has stood by me before & after my elimination, I consider this as my win.
So, this was it from Asad Raza Sonu. Simple, sweet & very modest. I must say his positivity brings a smile to your face. He is that kind of a person. He even shared his feelings about the show & response of the fans with me saying he tries to be in contact with every single fan possible. Other than that even though he accepted Pakistan’s decision he mentioned it again & again that he was content & happy with whatever was decided for him by the public. He was also thankful to those who have been wishing for his return to Pakistan Idol because they believe his elimination was unfair. Asad Raza Sonu said that the way he has been labeled as ‘King of Expression’ & the way he was showered with the continuous appreciation from both the actual & guest judges, this is more than enough for him & he is thankful to the stage of Pakistan Idol because it gave him the recognition he never thought of.

ARY had taken this bold step already by airing Rang Laaga drama every Wednesday at 8.00 pm. I was watching “har Lamha purjosh” on ARY News, a world cup special program being hosted by Umar Sharif and Neelum Muneer was invited as a guest. She told viewers that in this drama Faisal Qureshi will have four wives. Seriously as if we hadn’t enough from two wives torture.
There is also a soap currently being on-aired on HUM-TV called “Chohti si ghalat fehmi” in which four women are somehow connected to one middle aged man. The main lead is being played by Sajid Hasan and four ladies are Nausheen Shah, Zhalay Sarhadi, Nimra Khan and Sabreen Hisbani. Would you believe it!
The increasing number of female characters against one male character gives me an impression that there are too many actresses in the industry now and directors and producers are trying to adjust them all. Today dramas are mostly female dominated but the story of these dramas reflect that women still rely on men and every woman wants a man that is already married. I mean where are those plays which used to give woman a motivation to be strong, independent and impulsive.
It’s a high time for our writers to rework on their strategies and bring something exciting on screen otherwise leave writing. Surely we don’t need stories where four women are dying out for one man.

Adhura Milan is a recently started play of A-Plus, with first episode aired on 9th May 2014. It is co-written by veteran writer Noorul Huda Shah and directed by Zulfiqar Ali who has provided some hit serials in 1990’s like Aashiyana and Bulandi. The cast is a mixture of senior and new comers including Faisal Rehman, Samina Peerzada, Usman Peerzada, Iffat Umar, Nayyar Ejaz, Ally Khan, Kinza Hashmi, Hiba. The drama is filmed on a splendid set designed by famous set designer Tanvir Fatima Rehman.
Javeria Abbasi, who hosts morning show ‘Meri Subah Haseen Hai’ of A-Plus, visited the sets of this drama and introduced the audience to this drama. The cast provided synopsis of the drama, and there are few spoiler alerts too in this interesting show.

Rashida Jones (Laura Keane)

Marlon Wayans (Dean)
Marlon Wayans is part of the On the Rocks cast and played the character of Dean in the movie. Marlon Wayans is an American actor, writer, and producer, born on July 23, 1972, in New York. He is the youngest of his ten siblings. He went on to star when he regularly started to collaborate with his brother Shawn Wayans on The WB sitcom The Wayans Bros and in the other movies.
In 1998, he made his film debut portraying a pedestrian in I’m Gonna Git You Sucka. Wayans garnered acclamation from viewers when he landed the dramatic role in the film Requiem for a Dream. He has appeared in other films, including Norbit, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, The Heat, A Haunted House and its sequel, Naked, and Fifty Shades of Black. Jessica Henwick (Fiona Saunders)
Jessica Henwick portrayed Fiona in On the Rocks. She is an English actress and writer, born on 30 August 1992. In 2010, Henwick was the first actress of East Asian descent to play a prominent role in the British television series, having featured in the show Spirit Warriors. In 2013, she made her professional theatre debut in the international premiere of Running on the Cracks. Henwick rose to fame with the starring role of Nymeria Sand in the HBO series Game of Thrones. She has also starred in other movies including, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Iron Fist, The Defenders, Underwater, and On the Rocks.
Jenny Slate (Vanessa)
Jenny Slate is part of On the Rocks cast and played the role of Vanessa in the movie. She is an American actress, comedian, and author. Slate first gained recognition for her live variety shows in New York City and co-creating, writing, and producing the children’s short film Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Slate became popular to the mainstream audiences when she was cast in the 35th season of Saturday Night Live. Slate’s breakthrough came with her top performance in the comedy-drama film Obvious Child, for which she earned the Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress.

Barbara Bain (Gran Keane)
Barbara played Gran Keane in the movie. She is an 89-year-old American actress and among the senior actress in Hollywood. In her broad acting career, she has appeared in many films and television series and has many accolades to his. Bain is best known for her of Cinnamon Carter on the action television series Mission: Impossible, which earned her three Primetime Emmy Awards.
